Steak house
Restaurant
Butcher Boys uMhlanga is a vibrant steakhouse that caters to meat enthusiasts. The restaurant offers a variety of wet- or dry-aged beef, expertly grilled to perfection over an open flame. In addition to classic steaks, the menu features options like roasted marrowbone starters, cote de boeuf, avo-and-Dijon sirloin, and apple malva pudding for dessert.
So they have absolutely stunning dry aged beef, it's called butcher boys so don't come in for the veggies which are very much the side kicks to the super hero steaks. Portions are big and extra big for the extra hungry people out there and they have all the cuts you could be looking for. I went for the rump, medium rare with the most special compound butter made of truffle and marrow... I mean decadent pairing. The other guys went all in with 1kg rib eyes that would make your eyes turn into hearts and you will fall in love.
Niven N — Google review
A carnivore’s delight❣️🥩A very busy hive of activity when my daughter and I were there Tuesday evening before Comrades. The roasted bone marrow with Parmesan encrusted crostini was a completely new experience and one we have to go back for. Choice of a 600gm or 1 kg T-bone cooked to perfection as was my 200gm filet. A culinary delight❣️ Great friendly and prompt service. A must ‘go to’ if you are a meat eater.
Jennifer K — Google review
Stopped here around 6:30pm on a Monday and just happened to get the last unreserved table. T-Bone steak and baked potato were great. The cocktails were also quite delicious. Service was fantastic and the atmosphere was even better!
Cheyenne P — Google review
The food is good, menu has options for every taste. Portions are generous as well. Service is decent. The dessert was wonderful, well worth the visit.

My 3rd visit in a month and a half. Great steakhouse. Exceptional food, buzzing atmosphere, top, attentive service from Stretch. Expresso Choctini is one of the best desserts I've had.
Errol M — Google review
As a person and family that loves steaks, when you see the name Bucher Boys prime steakhouse in Umhlanga, you expect the best steaks that money can buy. Not true!. I had tased better prepared steaks at cheaper prices at other establishments. Fillet on the bone means you get 3 times the bone size than your meat, medium rare means it comes rare. As per pictures. Service was good, place is cozy.
Paul R — Google review
Went to Butcher Boy's Umhlanga on Friday and had the most disappointing experience. Went it expecting to have a night filled with love and great food, ended up leaving upset and disappointed. It was a date night for my husband and I. We started with prawns which came served with a ginger sauce, I'd rate it a 2/10 - nothing spectacular, simply edible. We still went on to order our mains which were 2 rump streaks both done medium well, as someone that orders steak at almost every occasion I know steak well and the first time it was brought to me it was well done ( all gray meat and stiff, chewy ) I sent it back to the kitchen to be resolved it came back rare (or arguably medium rare as seen in the picture) both times the steaks were heavily deprived of seasoning and taste. Couldn't say much for the sides either ( we did baked potatoes, butcher boy chips and mac and cheese) the chips were a 8/10, baked potatoe 1/10 and mac and cheese 5/10) overall a very disappointing experience, decided to leave my plate as is and get a takeaway bag for our dog. Left without having dessert didn't see how it could be worth it. I will say though the atmosphere was fun but it's safe to confirm we wasted over R1000.

We visited Butcher Boys as a group of 6 on a Saturday Afternoon . We had a booking for 6pm The ambience of the restaurant was very vibing and busy.Waitrons was very friendly upon arrival and through out our supper . It’s good to get a table at the ends/ outskirts of the restaurant as the middle is quite busy with waitrons and patrons walking about etc . We ordered steak which their steak to be honest is one of the best I have ever tasted . They do add a sauce of your choice at an additional price . Their portions are decent .Their sides were amazing , really rich and creamy as most of us had mash / spinach etc . They do tell you prior to ordering that the 10% gratuity is already added on to your bill when it’s time to pay . Overall our meals separately with drinks could have cost us anything between R300-R400 p.p which I thought was great value for the quality of food that we received . I would definitely visit them again .

Doppio Zero at The Pearls Boutique Mall is a charming cafe, restaurant, and bakery located in Umhlanga Ridge. This establishment offers a delightful dining experience with its elegant yet relaxed atmosphere. Known for its freshly prepared artisan breads, great coffee, and delicious light lunches, Doppio Zero also provides a variety of meals suitable for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians.
The food was excellent, l loved everything about the place and Noluthando our waitress was excellent. The manager Antonio was also nice, he came to check on us on the table. Everything was excellent.
Nolwazi M — Google review
The food and service here exceeded expectations. Our waiter was actually the manager (we only realised afterwards). He was very accommodating and helpful, which was great because we decided to come here at the last second and wasn't sure what to expect. It made our first experience here much better. Food was delicious and filling. I ordered all Vitality items and found them much more delicious than items sold elsewhere. Atmosphere was good. We went during the off peak time so I'm not sure how busy it gets during peak times.
Joey R — Google review
Doppio Zero has a lovely ambience, friendly staff and delicious breakfast servings. Lovely egg bens and full breakfast, and that smoothie? It was to die for. I look forward to visiting again!🥰
Thando S — Google review
Lovely restaurant. Service was good. I was a bit disappointed with my Iced Tea as it says its a 1L but it is served half with ice so it is a bit misleading. I would expect the ice to be served on the side and get 1L of juice. Imagine thinking you can share between four people? My mom said her chicken open sandwich was very nice with a bit of spice but the toast/bread brought down the meal as it was a bit tough/stale. Would definitely visit again though.

First time at this location. Well located in downtown Umhlanga. Large restaurant setup with indoor and outdoor seating. We were there in the morning and chose from the breakfast menu. The menu said specifically that it was for May 2025, so I'm unsure if they menu is updated every month. I'll try to find out. Ordered a hazelnut latte, peanut protein punch and shared an avocado toast. Other people ordered a couple of mocktails. Everything that we ordered was very good. The avo toast - bread was tasty, avos were fresh and creamy. Latte was delish! The restaurant is beautiful- loved the decor and the openness of the space. Options for seating. Lovely bar area. Service was very good. Would love to go back to try more options. There is a paid parking lot attached to this center and it is just up the street from the beach.

Restaurant
Lupa Osteria in Umhlanga Rocks offers a warm and generous Italian dining experience. The trattoria serves up delicious Italian food, including homemade pasta, wood-fired pizza, organic free-range chickens, and the finest veal. Whether you're looking for a casual family meal or a place to meet friends for drinks, Lupa Osteria provides an inviting environment to relax and share long meals with flavorsome food.
It was the first time we had dinner here and can honestly say the food was really good. The portions were decent and service was good too. Would definitely have dinner here again. I had the calamari pasta and hubby had gnocchi. Was delicious.
Bianca D — Google review
We decided to have lunch at Lupa and it was great. Staff was super friendly and Mandy our waitress was funny and attentive. Started off with the arancini that was good I have had better elsewhere. Not sure if your using the correct rice. The pork ribs was really delicious. The gnocchi del sol was over seasoned use less salt. I found it too salty. The gnocchi I did not like so much as I prefer the potato gnocchi as it's softer and pillowy compared to the firmer one I was served. The dish was good, less salt next time. The Amy pizza was enjoyed by my guest. I did try 1 slice and I didn't enjoy it as it was a bit on the dry side for me. Maybe a drizzle of olive oil and balsamic glaze could bring that pizza together nicely. Lastly I didn't enjoy your espresso. Lovely atmosphere will be back again.
Vera P — Google review
Here’s what I thought about lunch at Lupa… They have some really great options on their lunch menu specials. I got the steak with potato wedges and added the masala sauce. I want to say it was a great meal but without the sauce it would have been really dry. The masala sauce was more like a mushroom cream sauce. 🤷‍♂️ We got the seafood risotto from the main menu, I really have to be honest about the experience here, the risotto rice was still crunchy which didn’t feel right. We sent it back to the kitchen and they cooked it for a while longer which made all the difference. The staff were really pleasant and friendly and they add to the lovely atmosphere. 🫶

What a lovely experience. Was not the first time but always a good time at Lupa in Umhlanga. Michael and Sandile were helping us and they were both gems! The only thing is, the bartender forgot the syrup in my cocktail but Michael was quick to rectify the mistake. The food🔥🔥🔥!!! More please!!! Will definitely be back, AGAIN😁!!!

Yesterday my family and I visited Lupa Osteria in Umhlanga. They have a lovely lunch menu available Monday to Friday until 4pm for just R115 each. We ordered the chicken parmesan, Mexican pizza and sirloin from the lunch menu. Everything tasted absolutely fresh and delicious 😋 The chocolate milkshake was one of the best we have ever tasted. The service and atmosphere was amazing. Definitely worth the visit👌
Marshni P — Google review
We had such a wonderful experience! From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding — friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming - we can say that of all the waiters! Ntobeko went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and well taken care of. The food was absolutely delicious — every dish was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. It’s rare to find a place where everything just feels right, but this restaurant truly delivered on every level. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great food, great service, and a lovely atmosphere.
Leticha J — Google review
I went there for dinner with four other friends. Positives: 1. Their chicken salad was crispy and fresh, although it needed more dressing and the chicken was a tad dry. 2. Their ribs were tender and flavourful. 3. The burger with fries were good and their mash potatoes were creamy and paired well with the lamb shank and veg. 4. They had clean facilities and the restaurant was well-decorated. Negatives: 1. We had an issue with the size of their R300 lamb shank; it was comparable to a chicken drumstick. The manager apologised and gave us a proper portion size after we spoke to him. 2. Their Starter Meatballs were quite salty and a bit dry. It's flavour felt one-dimensional. 3. The service was lackluster; our waitress seldom came to the table to check up on us. We wanted condiments, more dressing for the salad etc. Even getting our bill was time consuming. Overall, their food was okay but overpriced considering the portions size. It was not the best Lupa I've been to; I recommend some staff training to ensure all costumers gets the consistent excellent service that would make this restaurant even better.
Tony — Google review
Friendly staff, exceptional service from Zama Z. My friend had the meatballs pasta which she enjoyed but I can’t say the same about my marinara. The portion was fine but it tasted quite bland, even after being returned to the kitchen. I had to add salt, chilies, cheese, basically everything on the table just to give it some life.

It was our first time at this restaurant and boy oh boy did we enjoy!. The food was great, the service that we received from Sibusiso was 11/10, he was such a joy to be around. This time around we tried their lunch promotion for R189 per person, where you can have a draft or juice together with a starter, main and dessert of choice, the ice cream and Malva pudding weren’t the best but the service and other items definitely made up for it. We will surely be back to try the other yummy food on the menu.
Sash — Google review
Great food, service and ambiance. We ordered the R199 special - starter, main and dessert with a drink. I ordered the fried squid for starter, steak and chips for main and brownie and ice cream for dessert. It was well-worth the price and portions were generous. I ordered an extra drink. Great deal and great vibe especially for a Thursday evening. Overall experience is 7/10 simply because it was a bit difficult to find, it can get really busy and the lighting isn’t very good at night but it does contribute to setting the tone of atmosphere.
Talia R — Google review
Village table is an okay restaurant, it gets noisy when busy but the food is not bad. We had the chicken wings, ribs and some chicken livers. The taste of the food and the service could have been better but the presentation was spot on. Nonetheless, it is a lovely restaurant. I look forward to trying different meals from there.
Thando S — Google review
it is not Halal. This place has a great location. There were lots of tables reserved and none had seating taken when we left. The place was not busy. The staff was very helpful and kept checking on us. The drinks menu was extensive. for the location price is what is expected. it does have an amazing view. I think was worth seeing it once.
Muhammed O — Google review
The food was nice, though preparation took some time but it was full, the atmosphere is vibrant and the place if kid/family friendly. Loved the space, very spacious
Gugu B — Google review
The Village Table offers a chic culinary experience. Nestled in the heart of Umhlanga’s vibrant social scene, The Village Table encompasses a refreshing blend of style, flavour, and atmosphere that makes it more than just a restaurant. It makes for a truly authentic dining experience. The menu is a celebration of global influences with a South African twist. The portions are generous, and well presented. The drinks menu is equally impressive with a great cocktail menu and delicious hot drinks too. They also have an affordable but creative and generous lunch time menu, suitable for vegetarians, pescetarians and meat lovers, of a three course meal plus a drink for those looking for a great luncheon experience on a budget. The decor is modern and eclectic with hanging lights, beautiful indoor plants and checkered floors that give the space a trendy yet welcoming vibe. The staff are friendly and attentive, and its refreshing to see how the team goes out of their way to accommodate guests. The atmosphere is lively but not overwhelming, making it perfect for everything from casual meetups to special occasions.

A delightful restaurant with pleasant staff, lovely background music, gorgeous decor and great food. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast but will come back some time for lunch or dinner. 💛🌼💛

This restaurant is located in a new fancy mall in downtown Umhlanga. Lunch with large extended family group. There are great food and drink options. Glad I remembered to get pics of the menu. Sister and I shared the mushroom brioche bun burger and the woodfire hake - both very good. The hake is an honorable mention - delicious - perfectly seasoned and prepared. Would like to go back to try some of their breakfast options, not sure if I'll have time 😩. The service was good considering we were a big group. Decor is modern. The restaurant was busy for a Monday, but it was a holiday. Parking is through the mall.

Olive & Oil is one of my favourite restaurants, their menu is lovely and is the gift that keeps on giving. Love their pasta & lamb shank, simply melt in your mouth. Service can be improved, the taste of the food is always great, atmosphere is not bad at all. We had calamaris and chicken livers for the starters and lamb shank, pasta for main course and it was all very tasty. Looking forward to indulging again real soon🥰.
Thando S — Google review
Given how busy the restaurant was, we had some expectations that the food would be good and we were not disappointed! I ordered the gnocchi while my partner had the Cajun fish. Both dishes were well prepared, flavourful and beautifully presented. The ambience and decor is lovely. Some of the staff were friendly and helpful but it was a bit frustrating that others kept bumping our chairs as they moved around…maybe the seating area is a bit tight.
Losh N — Google review
Three friends, Wednesday night dinner @ 6pm. We tried to call to make a reservation, but weren't able to get reach anyone, so we took a chance. The place was quite full but they had a table for us. The service was excellent. We didn't have to wait overly long for our food. The food was delicious and the portions were just right. The toilet wasn't clean when I went - my only complaint.
Toni H — Google review
Been dining at O&O from their prior years at their previous nearby location. Dropped by for lunch today, was served by a fantastic waiter named Nick. He was very attentive and very patron conscious despite serving at other tables. He even remembered where we last sat when we dined previously. The food was great, thoroughly enjoyed, as was desert. This restaurant has wonderful decor, a great atmosphere and really makes it’a great experience. Will definitely be going back.
M X — Google review
Always amazing! From the service to the atmosphere... so inviting and warm, the service staff are so kind and attentive. Best creme brulee, and the kataifi cheese cake is devine.
Sajana R — Google review
We went for the R200 lunch menu. It includes a starter from four choices, a main from six choices, and two dessert options. For R230 you can add a glass of wine, a 330ml beer, or a Brutal Fruit. Our server, Spha, made the experience great. He was friendly, clear, and attentive. The atmosphere was warm with good music and decor. The only odd part was the number of staff standing around watching, which felt a little uncomfortable. For starters, the whipped feta was excellent and worth recommending. For mains, we ordered the lime and coconut fish curry and a veg pizza. Portions were large and filling. The curry had good flavour but needed more coconut. The veg pizza was a surprise standout, easily one of the best pizzas I’ve had in a long time. Dessert was a letdown. The crème brûlée had the wrong texture and flavour, more like whipped cream than a proper brûlée. Overall, the food was bold and satisfying, the service was excellent, and the vibe was enjoyable. I would return, but the desserts need improvement.

Situated in the center of Umhlanga village, The Chefs Table is renowned for its exceptional dining experience. This restaurant offers a contemporary menu that showcases the finest seasonal ingredients sourced from Kwa-Zulu Natal. With its open-plan kitchen, guests have the opportunity to observe the skilled chefs in action, forging a connection with both their food and the exquisite dishes they create.
Absolutely phenomenal dining experience, food quality and appearance is incomparable, the vibe is very intimate and elegant and the prices are quite high. Would recommend this place for anniversaries/special occasions or just a date night if you don't mind the price. Cocktail selection is pretty basic but the food and service more than makes up for it. We told them it was our 1 year anniversary and they brought out a complimentary dessert which was a great touch from their side.

I went here with my bf, we ordered steak and the tom yum things there. also wine!! It was a best night ever. We got the free appetizers and dessert 💞 The steak was very good! Best steak I've ever had in my life.. Also, the ambiance is amazing👍 I love the open kitchen concept. Love from Indonesia🌺❤️ Def will come back

Even though Google said they were closed, our call was answered by a friendly, efficient host and we were able to make a reservation. Our waiter for the evening was Moses. Great guy! Knowledgeable about the menu and the cooking methods and ingredients. The complementary appetiser of the dreamiest bread with creamy butter and humus was very yummy. Our starters were incredible! Two of us had the dumplings and the third had the artichoke. No complaints there. For mains I ordered the 38-day aged rump steak and a side of whipped mashed potato. One friend ordered the pork belly and a side of risotto, and the other ordered the Norwegian Salmon. Again, the food was incredible. I cannot fault it. The restaurant got fuller and noisier as the evening wore on, but it wasn't too noisy, we could still talk and enjoy ourselves. The bathrooms were clean when I went. I am giving a five-star review because the food and service deserve such. However, if there was an option to rate value for money, I'd have to say, as enjoyable as it was, I think they are overpriced.
Toni H — Google review
Had a lovely dinner at this establishment. The food was delicious, it was very exciting to have duck liver parfait as part of the menu because it’s difficult to find in South Africa. Probably the best restaurant in Durban. The bread spread was fresh & delicious, the butter could do with a bit of salt seasoning and maybe a little bit more portion size if the bread is needed. The mocktails were amazing, could be a bit too sweet for a person who’s not a sweet tooth but you can always ask them to tone it down. The octopus was tender and well grilled. Everything in the plate complimented each other. Even though the kimchi was too spicy for my liking - preference. The Panacotta was not the best. I found the strawberry ice cream too sweet and I felt the elements didn’t compliment each other. Service: The service could improve a lot, my waiter Sizwe was rushing me to order mains whilst I was still having the bread on a plate and the liver parfait on the other, it felt very rude. He never came to check up on my meals during the time I was eating, only asked how they were when I was done. It was a let down. Overall definitely coming back again, the restaurant cuisine has improved a lot since I had the tasting menu 3 years back. Highly recommended 👌🏾

It’s hard to fault anything about our experience. And we tried a wide variety of dishes: Prawn toast and oysters to begin Prawn ravioli and tuna for starters Pork belly and beef fillet for mains Every dish was superbly prepared and beautifully presented. Good service. Slightly irritating, though, that none of the tables are set with salt and pepper. You have to ask for it! Lovely atmosphere and relaxing decor Good value for money, given the overall excellent experience

Wow! What an incredible dining experience. My husband and I went for dinner recently, and we were absolutely blown away. The service was excellent, and we even learned a little about the wine we were served, which was such a thoughtful touch. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and it truly felt like an adventure for our taste buds.

We had a delightful dining experience. The modern contemporary ambiance was just perfect for an elevated date night. We didn’t realise that they had two menus but the a la carte had plenty options that made selections fun. We will be sure to try the tasting menu next time. Absolutely winning dish was the CTC Dumplings but the PS I Love You was a very welcome surprise and the best way to end the evening. Be sure to book in advance and try one of their capetonian wines.

What a wonderful find, so great I spent both afternoons of my weekend here. The waitrons are smiling, friendly and very efficient. Big screens for sport. Clean and polished feel, with lots of natural light. The food was delicious, I absolutely loved the curry. Great patrons and atmosphere too. I’ll definitely be back.

Great atmosphere and good vibe. Cocktails were good. Food tasted nice, but both my friend and I had not so great tummy's after the food. Think it was the marrow bones being too rich. But the food tasted amazing.

I tried the Durban Lamb Curry and it was spectacular. I highly recommend it and the excellent service from friendly staff was the cherry on top. Will be back!

After arriving from Johannesburg and needing a bite at 20h30, we popped into the Steak and Ale. The food was excellent, chicken nachos and deep fried prawn starter. Well priced, excellent service and quick turnaround time from ordering to receiving our meal. A must stop in Umhlanga

Went to steak and ale for the first time on the weekend, what an incredible spot. If I remember correctly our waitress was Mia. Incredible server and very attentive and friendly, made it an incredible experience.

More a pub first and restaurant second. The name seems to be a restaurant first and then pub. The waitress by the name of Sam was pleasant and efficient, which was nice. Quick with drinks and food delivered as ordered, thank goodness. Pub was busy for a Monday night 🌙. The only problems were their was no finger bowl or wet wipes provided with the rib dish and that is a messy meal to eat, asked for the bone for takeaway. I had to do it myself at the table. There was a wondering person with the so called name of "superman" who was helpful. Will try again in the future.

Amazing food, service and atmosphere.

I had my first visit to Steak and Ale Umhlanga today and was disappointed with the service. Mia, the barista/waitress, needs to ensure that all customers are treated equally. Before the game even started, I asked for a cup of coffee, but she disappeared until I reminded her. When I asked again, she said the coffee machine was broken and that it was after 45 minutes of wait 😣.After the first half of the game, I requested the menu, but it took her 25 minutes to bring it to me, even after we had reminded her. This is unacceptable. It seems like Mia is undermining customers, and I don’t appreciate that kind of treatment. I hope you can address this issue for the benefit of all customers.

Located in Umhlanga Rocks at The Pearls, Daruma is a renowned Japanese restaurant that has been serving authentic Japanese cuisine since 1986. With a Japanese head chef and freshly prepared Teppenyaki meals, the restaurant offers an exquisite dining experience. Guests can enjoy sushi dates in this lavish setting with excellent service and friendly staff. The restaurant prides itself on using only the best quality in-season ingredients and boasts qualified cocktail barmen to complement the dining experience.
The food was amazing, the service was great and great atmosphere around the cooking area. I couldn’t wait to eat after watching my food being cooked in front of me. An excellent experience.

Sure! Here’s a review you could post: ⸻ Daruma Umhlanga – Superb Food, but Service Falls Short I recently dined at Daruma Umhlanga and have mixed feelings about the experience. The food was undoubtedly superb—every bite felt carefully crafted. I especially enjoyed the sushi; although a bit above average in price, the quality justified the splurge. The fried egg rice was slightly oily but packed with flavour and paired perfectly with the crispy chicken panko. However, the service left much to be desired. The staff seemed sluggish and lacked the warmth and attentiveness you’d expect at a restaurant of this calibre. Once our orders were placed, the menus were taken away, and it felt like we vanished off their radar. There was no follow-up, no chance to order anything further, and getting the bill was almost a mission in itself. To top it off, the usual visit or check-in from a manager—something you’d expect during a sit-down meal—never happened. All in all, if you’re going just for the food, it’s a win. But if you value a complete dining experience with attentive service, you might leave feeling a bit down.

We went here for mums bday, it was just the 4 of us, we booked in advance and requested to sit by the grill for the experience, it was definitely an experience. The food was good, and it was a great service. It was a bit pricey, considering that we shared a tapenyaki platter and starters. The platter, however, was enough for the 4 of us. Overall, it was a great experience if you wanted to try out the hibachi experience.

My partner has a shellfish allergy. We made them aware on arrival and to be fair they went above and beyond to ensure the grill and utensils were properly cleaned. We were well looked after and the food was fantastic. Great service can't wait to go back

Lovely atmosphere and great experience to sit at the chef's table as they prepare your meal in front of you. The teppanyaki was really good but the lamb was overcooked. Service was very good.

Takeout Restaurant
Joita's Portuguese Foods offers a small but carefully crafted menu that showcases the authentic flavors of Portuguese cuisine with a Mozambican twist. The chargrilled seafood combo, featuring prawns and calamari in peri-peri or garlic butter, is a standout dish. Guests also rave about the crispy prawn rissoles and tender calamari tubes. Despite occasional wait times, the restaurant's attentive service and complimentary drinks make for a pleasant dining experience.
We booked a table of 6 for 7 pm. When we arrived the place was packed and our table was not ready, we were a bit annoyed as we had international guests with us that were leaving the following day and wanted an early night, but they seated us at the bar and we ordered drinks, the barman came to us to apologize for the long wait and offered us complimentary drinks which was a nice touch and finally we were seated.. the food was just amazing and we had a fun waiter, we were a bit cramped but the food just made up for it and it was lovely to see that on a Tuesday night they were manic busy, They are well priced and with good quality portions and each dish was delicious , the only dish was the Prego roll which was a bit small for the price but we had ordered far too much food anyway! Worth a visit and we will certainly be back again. PS LOVE the new expansion and refurbs.. very nice
EPC C — Google review
I'd give it 2.5 stars if i could. We didn't have a booking, but the restaurant managed to seat us, so half a star for that. We sent one drink back as it was wrong. The bread rolls weren't the freshest. The chicken was bland, and we ended up taking the chicken back to our accommodation to make our own chicken mayo the next day. The prawns and calamari were ok, but could do with more flavour.

We had a great dinner at Joita’s in Umhlanga. Our waiter Sam was friendly and attentive, making sure we were well looked after. I had the fillet prego, which was absolutely delicious — tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The food and service were both excellent. Definitely a spot I’d recommend and return to.

The chicken and calamari combo was great, both well cooked and great tasting. Good service and great wine.

Hi Joitas, we’ve always loved your restaurant and it used to be one of our favourites. On our last visit(22 September 2025), the peri-peri sauce was excellent as always, but we were disappointed that the baby chicken was very dry and tasted precooked, and the sardines and sides were cold. The service was also quite slow even though the restaurant was quiet. We wanted to share this feedback as we really hope it was just an off night – we’d love to see Joitas back to the standard we’ve always enjoyed
Hanneli L — Google review
Food was good, was told three times by the waiter that if we wanted chicken we had to order now, sadly service was dismal. Waited inside the restaurant to be seated, two staff members of which one was presumably the manger simply ignored us. If it wasn’t for the fact that we had just arrived from Gauteng, we would have gone elsewhere. Doubt I would visit again and cannot recommend

With its chic atmosphere, it provides an ideal setting to unwind and savor a variety of dishes ranging from spatchcock chicken to grilled prawns. We make a point of coming to Julio's whenever we come to KZN. We always order the Seafood Pot which remains unrivalled, and this time we added the Seafood Paella to our order, also fantastic! 👌 Other than the amazing food, the service could not be better.

Nicole N — Google review
My friends and I tried this restaurant and we were quite happy with the food. I highly recommend their paella. The seafood platters were good enough. Great customer service. I truly disliked the outdated glassware and the cutlery with flowers much like the design that I remember using at my grandmothers home when I was a kid. They could do more for the exterior. It's just not inviting.

Good Portuguese food. The place looks a little rundown, which is perhaps part of the character, but it did feel a little weird to be the only person in the restaurant. I would however happily dine there again, if the occasion arose.

This was the First julios we have eaten at and it was an amazing food experience. The friendly and skilled yet humble waiters are always on par and extremely informative pairing your likes with the menu. Will support Julios for a long time as long as service and their amazing specials remain a constant. Great stuff guys.
Ashlee B — Google review
Its a pity this Portuguese restaurant could have so much potential, from the authenticity of the food to the decor. Very disappointing, in a prime spot in the heart of Umhlanga, by the sea, its shabby look with the faded restaurant's name on the outside, to missing hanging light bulbs and mismatched tablecloths and uninviting look. We specifically searched for and wanted to dine at a Portuguese restaurant, however the ambiance and food unfortunately did not meet up to our standards and expectations. The food photos may look good but the sauce and flavours are not true to portuguese cuisine (we are portuguese). The two stars are for the excellent waiters.

Best meat and cooking style in town. Once I had the first cut, I was even hungrier 😋. Really juicy . Staff really friendly and can assist very well with some recommendations.

We were thoroughly disappointed with our recent dining experience at Butcher Block in Durban, South Africa. Upon arrival, we received no greeting or assistance. The menu was provided promptly, but our order was taken after an inordinate delay. Disappointing service and cuisine marred our visit: - Undercooked, oily fries - 25-minute wait for mayonnaise - Overcooked, charred steak, lacking medium-rare consistency - Inattentive service Given our subpar experience, we cannot recommend Butcher Block for steak enthusiasts. Sorry i could not find less than 1*

Food was good but pork skin could have been crispy. Lamb grill was lovely except one of the pieces had an almost ‘off’ taste. Mash, chakalaka and pap was exceptional.

Butcher Block Umhlanga Ambiance 🎶 The decor is sleek and modern, with a warm, inviting atmosphere. I had an evening reservation just after 7pm on a Friday. The noise level can get quite high during peak hours. However, this is expected due to being such a popular spot. Service 👨🏻‍🍳 The staff are friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. Our server was prompt and efficient, ensuring our needs were met. Food 🍽️ The food is exceptional. I ordered the Steak and Calamari combo with a side of Mashed Potatoes, which was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. The portion was a 200g sirloin steak and a generous handful of calamari. My friend had the 700g Tomahawk Steak, which looked absolutely divine. Value 💵 Great value for money, the quality of the food and service justify the cost. Overall Experience 💯 My experience was excellent. The combination of great food, good service, and pleasant ambiance makes it a top choice for special occasions or business dinners. I'd definitely return and recommend it to friends. Recommendation: Try the 700g Tomahawk Steak. 🥩 Overall Rating: 5/5 ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Thank you Butcher Block Umhlanga!

The food was delicious and really fast. I had the Roquefort snails and they were large and tender, not overcooked or rubbery as they tend to be with large snails. The sauce was creamy and very well balanced and did not have an overpowering Roquefort flavour. I then had the surf and turf with the rump and white wine sauce. The steak was nice and thick and very juicy and my side baked potato was perfect. Service was awesome. Well done team

This review is long overdue, but it’s one that absolutely needs to be shared! Two years ago, I had the pleasure of celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday at this amazing place, and the experience was nothing short of incredible. From the very first (very last-minute) phone call on the day of the celebration, the team went out of their way to assist – and truly made the night one to remember. A special thank you to Purity, the manager on duty that evening. She was absolutely phenomenal! Despite the short notice, she handled everything with such professionalism and care. From helping with the decorations to ensuring that everything ran smoothly right up until closing time, Purity made sure my boyfriend’s birthday felt truly special. Her attention to detail and friendly demeanor stood out, and I can’t thank her and the rest of the staff enough for going the extra mile. It’s rare to find such dedicated service, and even though it’s been a while, the memory still brings a smile to our faces. Thank you again for helping us create such a beautiful and unforgettable moment. Highly recommend!

Mozambik Restaurant situated in Gateway Theatre of Shopping is an epicentre of gratifying food, drink and fun! Their food truly embodies flavour like no other! For Starters we ordered Squid Heads, Fish Cakes, Chicken Rissoles & their signature Prawn Bilene. Living up to their claim, their Starter, Prawn Bilene is truly irreproducible! All their starters were mouth-watering, however, their Prawn Bilene stole the show with its creamy, dreamy cheddar and feta sauce! For drinks we ordered a Raspberry Milkshake, a Chai Latte and Coke. The Raspberry Milkshake was truly something unique and out of this world! For Mains we ordered, the Chicken Espetada, Quarter Chicken & 6 Medium Prawns, Quarter Chicken & Calamari (unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of this dish), And Chicken & Prawn Curry. All the mains were drenched with flavour and veritably a treat to the taste buds! Upon arrival, we were also given nuts in the restaurant's customized cone paper and there was no dearth of tissues, which was easily accessible on the table from the cute dispenser. The service was commendable and the ambience lively and entertaining. Restrooms were also available in the restaurant for customers' ease of access. With Starters, our meal was approximately R300 a person. Definitely a sucker for their pungent dishes and will be returning for more!
Sujaal P — Google review
Mozambik really impressed you! Sounds like everything—from the drinks to the food—was top-notch. That veg curry must’ve been something special if it completely caught you off guard. It’s not every day you find a place that gets a vegetarian dish so perfect that it leaves you in shock! And those drinks? A strawberry candy cane, piña colada, and watermelon drink? That’s like a full-on tropical escape in a glass. The mix of flavors must’ve been so refreshing. Honestly, with an experience like that, I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re already thinking about your next visit. Would you order the same thing again, or are you keen to try something else on the menu?

Adega Umhlanga is a relaxed Portuguese restaurant chain offering a diverse menu featuring sushi, peri-peri chicken, and steaks. Its unique Halal accreditation sets it apart as a distinctive dining destination. Established in the late 1990s, this family-owned establishment has built a strong reputation for its delicious food, warm service, and inviting ambiance.
My partner and I were initially hesitant to visit Adega, but it turned out to be a delightful surprise. The starters, especially the mussels, were an absolute treat, with the rich, flavorful sauce being the undeniable highlight. For our main course, we chose the prawn pasta and mild prawn curry, both of which were perfectly prepared and bursting with fresh, savory flavors. The mildness of the curry balanced beautifully with the tender prawns, creating a dish that was both comforting and satisfying. The atmosphere at Adega is incredibly serene, offering a relaxed, welcoming vibe that made our dining experience all the more enjoyable.

First time experience at this establishment. From the very welcoming entrance and excellent service by the freindly staff. The Menu was Overly Pricey, but it was backed up by Amazingly Tasty Food that was served to us. We ordered the Combo platter for 2, Cheesy garlic roll alongst A Mojito & Pina Colada etc..... The signature sauce that covered the chicken, prawns, calamari & fish in the Combo, was finger licking good. Never before have I eaten such great tasting calamari that was cooked to perfection👌🏼. Although the 1/2 a Chicken in the platter was relatively tiny to say the least. Would also suggest, to change the hake to a better fish.....since the Combo is heavily priced. The Pina Colada that I had was to die for....a mix of pineapple 🍍 and coconut 🥥 extracts & chilled pineapple 🍍 juice. All I can say is, this was a Great First time experience at this Establishment and We would definitely be visiting Adega, Gateway Umhlanga again. To the Owner and Staff: Well done & Keep up the Exceptional Service and Maintenance of the Restaurant, A little customer advice, Maybe change up the Combos and Portion sizes so they can meet the prices correctly.

Adega Umhlanga is my go-to restaurant whenever I visit South Africa! I’ve dined here many times, and it never disappoints. Their Portuguese steak is my absolute favorite — always cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The best part is that the restaurant is 100% Halal, and all dishes are Halal, which gives great peace of mind. My most recent visit was in May 2024, and the experience was excellent as always. Highly recommended!

We had a group of 20 people and the orders ranged from starters to mains and dessert and different drinks and there were no mix ups. Our waiters were spot on with all the orders and so friendly and ready to assist us. The meals were absolutely divine! Very healthy portion sizes as you can see from the photos below. Such a disappointing experience. Chicken strips main was burnt, tough and dry. The portions were quite large, no complaints in that department. "Wow" - as in wow the platters were huge. We asked for our food to be packed up so we could give it to our dogs who, maybe could enjoy it. Even the chips were overcooked and hollow. We ordered veg on the side and were told it was creamed veg, only the spinach was. The area and tables we sat at were not clean at all. The floor was dirty and I had to request for it to be cleaned, no waiter/waitress cleaned it upon arrival. I dont mind paying good money for food, as long as it's worth it. This was definitely not worth it.

It was my first time eating from Adega in Umhlanga (I have eaten from other branches). We ordered a platter, squid heads as a starter and malva pudding. The squid heads were okay, The platter (main course) was kind of okay (portion size very generous) but the sauce was on a salty side so I did not enjoy it as much. The malva pudding was old... you could tell that it's overly microwaved and that made it sticky and hard. I hardly ate anything from it.

Ambiance, food, service everything here is a 10/10. No pictures can do it justice!!! I am definitely returning. Please treat yourself to this place, you won't regret it. Menu has a great variety of food, I wanted to order a lambshank but they were all out as it is a favorite so I went for their specialty steak which was cooked to absolute perfection. I also love how the tip is included so I needn't calculate it, unless one would like to give extra, of which the waiters definitely deserve as they go above and beyond.

Visited for dinner on New Year’s Day. Significant number of menu items not available. For the most part, the venue had less than 30 patrons. Drinks took 25 minutes and the food took an hour! The food is really disappointing and doesn’t warrant the prices at all. A 10% gratuity it automatically added to the bill as well and I personally have an issue with this. As was the case with us, the service was shocking.

Cafe La Plage is a very beautiful and elegant restaurant. We went there to celebrate a 40th birthday party. It was Gatsby themed. The vibe is good and they have a DJ. The table settings are gorgeous. The food was delicious and you can order ahead. There is a bar. The food and drinks are expensive. The waiters are kind and courteous. The chef baked the most delicious chocolate cake. Undercover parking is available. Toilets are Clean. We had a fabulous evening, I would go there again and I would recommend the place to others.

Upon walking to set upto document a wedding registration, I was greeted by Marge who was pleasant and ever ready to help. The restaurant is clean, Covid friendly, and just a class on it's own. We were offered to use almost their entire restaurant to capture images for our clients. A great experience and we will be sure to visit again.

A place to relax and enjoy delicious food with a friendly waitress Connie ready to offer her friendly service. My kids and colleagues enjoyed the starter prawns with Tarter sauce. Lovely vegetarian options Also available I enjoyed the mushroom bruschetta. Main course meals was well prepared and desserts was the Cherry on top

A beautiful restaurant with tasteful decor. We visited on a Friday night for dinner, and the restaurant was surprisingly quiet. I had the grilled calamari to start and be warned that the starters are very small. For the main course, I had the seared salmon, and it was perfectly cooked. My partner had the lamb chops, which was slightly under seasoned for his liking. Overall, it was a lovely experience & I wish to return to see a full and vibing restaurant.

Had my birthday in the private room. The food was really good and tasty. All 3 courses were excellent. Staff was so helpful and friendly with all the guests. It's definitely worth visiting or having a function

Lovely intimate setting, wonderful wait staff paid attention to detail. The food was wonderful, definitely recommend the bang bang prawns as a starter. Mains were hot and just as I asked for, dessert was rich and delightful. Perfect for a partners night out or special intimate occasion.

The food and the atmosphere were good. The restaurant was not crowded while I was there for dinner. The complementary bread was soft and fresh out of the oven, and the sirloin with steamed vegetables and Rum & BBQ sauce was delicious. However, they sprinkled some course salt on the meat, which I didn't really like. The sirloin had a bit of fat to it, which I was not fond of. I ended up eating the meal without the sauce as it was tastier. I also had a double chocolate brownie dessert. However, the brownie was not soft enough to put a spoon through.

Either management or ownership change as its not the same but still great, wonderful ambiance to be for a relaxed evening. Nice set up, clean and tidy. We were served by the lovely, cheerful Nicole and truly made our evening ♥️ 👍🏾🙏🏾👏🏾🤞🏾👌🏾🫱🏻‍🫲🏾 spectacular. Delicious food. Tried a different dessert but brownie & ice cream is still my favourite. Books are needed to avoid disappointment.

Celebrated a birthday party in their private room with 3 course meal lunch. The service and food were very good. Had the potatoe skins, hake and chips and dessert of the day, Panna cotta. Everything was prepared perfectly. There was a miscommunication about the times to use the room, however it was resolved. Really appreciated the service and communication from the manager and waitresses.

Great food, excellent service and overall a wonderful experience dining at Little Havana. Portions are very generous, special requests are never too much effort for the staff and they make you feel at home and very welcome. The prawn skewer with salad which I had for a starter was delicious. So too was my husbands calamari and chorizo. For mains I had pork ribs, no extra basting when grilled and sweet potato. My husband ordered pork belly with sweet potato. You should definitely pay this restaurant a visit. You will not regret it.

Loved our experience here! We came for lunch at the ocean terrace and both had the Durban lamb curry - delicious meal. Excellent service and beautiful view. Always love coming to the oyster box and exploring the exquisite interior.

Very disappointed with my experience at Ocean Terrace in Feb 2025. Went there on a Saturday evening for dinner without a booking. Ocean terrace is off course a very popular destination in uMhlanga and the outside seating area especially with sea views were booked out and we were given a seat at a corner close to the closet. That I understand as we did go without a booking but we told the floor manager Byron that if any table opens up with a sea view if we could move there and he said he would. We checked in multiple times with him that evening and every time we asked he said that no tables were available. What was interesting was about 1.5 hours of our arrival a young white couple walked in opposite us and as soon as they were seated, Byron came and asked them if they were enjoying their seat and if they would like to move to a sea view table. This was 5 minutes after us asking him the question about moving and his response being no tables are available. The couple were moved to a nicer table 5 minutes later. When I confronted Byron about this he said they had a prior booking which is clearly not true as I heard the whole conversation of them being walk in diners like us. If something like this can happen 31 years after the advent of democracy, surely patrons who are not white should not be visiting this establishment. Any consumer based business measures their success on repeat business and average life time value of the customer. In both cases they will score 0 from me in the future. Coming to the food, tried the curry buffet which at R 695 per person is not worth it, as while the quality of the food is good but the flavour profiles are very tempered down again to suit the palate of a specific demographic. Not recommended by me at all.
Devarpan C — Google review
This place is not halal. I was there for work. But was a very hospitable place. The food is attempted to be very Durban based, hence very Indian foods. Butter chicken, fish beef crab and beans curry. Yes it is toned down for the more delicate palette. They have savories and naan. Off the buffet, There is a food fire oven pizza, and the large sea food plattee options. The dessert is also reduced in sugar to be healthy. The staff are constantly moving food flying out of the kitchen. The decor out side was not too great but inside the decor was more filling than the food. It is a very great experience.
Muhammed O — Google review
I booked a table for myself and my friend who came down from the UK. I told them it was her birthday. When we were seated, they tied a birthday balloon to the back of her chair. So cute! The food was amazing (I had the duck and she had the sushi salad), the service was top-notch, and they rounded out the evening with a surprise birthday treat of various desserts! (Tip: if you’re celebrating a bday, don’t let the birthday person order dessert)

I was there on Friday night with my whole family we were a table of 18 with 4 kids and 1 baby. I cannot fault the terrace for atmosphere and how kid friendly they are. We were all so impressed how kid friendly they are and it allowed all of the parents to relax. The whole vibe of the place is amazing. However the food let it down. I had the calamari to start which was over fried and lacked flavor, I then had a pizza as main and it was raw in the middle. I should have sent it back but I didn’t want to put a bad vibe on the table. Only to find out after the fact that my brothers pizza was raw as well. My mom had the fish and chips and said hers was very dry and she couldn’t finish it. The final issue we had was as a table of 18 who were a table of big drinkers the waiter needed support. Multiple people on our table had to constantly ask for more drinks. When you are paying so much you would hope the service would be on point. All in all we loved the vibe but the service and food let it down and I don’t see us going back.

I recently celebrated an anniversary dinner here, and I have nothing but praise! From the service to the food. It did not disappoint! We felt so taken care of by our waiter Sam. From the calamari starter, which was delicious and crispy, not to mention so flavourful.. to the fresh hand made wood fire pizzas which was made in a classic Italian way. It was delicious. We had ordered the Hawaiian pizza and prawn and chorizo pizza. We had also got a bottle of wine to the table , which was served at the perfect temperature and refilled whenever we needed. Even when busy you are taken care off. A must visit if you are in the area ! P.S sorry about the bite taken out from the pizza 😂 I couldn't wait

Grimaldis Grimaldis Grimaldis. A lush restaurant located at Umhlanga Rocks, with an ocean view while you eat or sip on your drink. A very stylish and beautiful restaurant. The staff is friendly and very welcoming. The space oozes calm and ambience. I had their prawn picanto pasta, it was amazingly rich, creamy and full of flavour. I really enjoyed it. For dessert, I had their coconut cheesecake which was also very creamy and decadent on the palate, only, I wish the ratio of crust to creamy topping was a little more balanced. The drinks were wonderful, nice and colourful, sweet and thirst quenching. I enjoyed myself and look forward to coming back again, I highly recommend Grimaldis😊.

We couldn't leave Durban without treating ourselves to good seafood. I'm so glad to have discovered Lord Prawn - a totally unpretentious local restaurant with amazing and attentive staff. We really enjoyed the ambience - even the guests were super chilled 😊😅 The food was top tier and portions incredibly generous (cocktails too!), super affordable without compromising on quality. We had oysters (super plump and fresh), the lobster and prawn combo and the 1kg prawns. The side sauces were so delicious and packed with natural flavour as well. The only let down was the overcast and rainy weather - we couldn't take a walk by the beach after dinner - now I guess we HAVE to visit again 😜

Pathetic service, food took forever to come but it was busy however, food had no seasoning. So bland and I can’t believe I’m saying this but rather go to ocean basket. For a place called Lord Prawn, their prawns were BS. And on top of that I have food poisoning for food that didn’t even taste nice. 0/10.

What an amazing experience...we were looking for a restaurant for dinner on a Sunday. Found out they closed at 6pm so dinner became lunch! Restaurant looked like a quaint cafe from the outside but inside was a surprise. A beautifully decorated restaurant/ deli with Italian products everywhere. You can buy cheese, cold meat, bread, chocolate, gin, wine, cakes and ice cream. We chose pasta's...a superb chicken and creamy basil pesto sauce and the short rib tortellini in a tomato sauce. Both outstanding. Desserts were tiramisu and a mamas Italian mess. Again really good. The service was excellent, ambiance good and music just what you expect. Something to add to your to do list in Umhlanga! We can't wait to return on our next Gateway visit to perhaps try one of their pasta making courses!

Old Town Italy was absolutely amazing start to finish. The service was great, and the food was so good. We ordered the breakfast tin (which was a range of breads, including a butter croissant), and we ordered an eggs bennedict with hollandaise and smoked trout and it was probably the best eggs bennedict I've ever had.

This was my first visit to Old Town Italy and I went for a late breakfast, the interior of the restaurant is very unique and visually appealing with. A gellato corner, a deli, a bakery inside, it really felt like being at an Italian market . My GF had the eggs Benedict which was very good although her eggs were not cooked medium as she requested. The "Freshly squeezed" orange juice did not seem like freshly squeezed juice which is disappointing considering the price of R65. I had the breakfast bun which was delicious and was very impressed with my 'Chuck berry' smoothie which was packed with blueberries but could have perhaps been a bit thicker. Our food arrived in a reasonable time frame although not particularly prompt. We finished our meal off by sharing a cannoli which was very nice although it had lemon in it which wasn't a particularly good pairing in my opinion. Overall we we did enjoy ourselves and will be back.

The Sugar Club is a top dining spot in Umhlanga, offering excellent waiter service and a diverse international menu. It's perfect for romantic dinners, with options for breakfast, dinner, Sunday Buffet Lunch, and Saturday Afternoon Haute Tea Buffet. The restaurant aims to create memorable moments through beautiful meals served in exquisite surroundings. Whether you're looking for sushi, Asian fusion, contemporary dishes or Japanese cuisine, The Sugar Club has something to offer.
We recently celebrated my aunt's birthday with a high tea at the Sugar Club Restaurant in The Beverly Hills Hotel, and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we entered, we were treated like royalty, setting the tone for a truly memorable afternoon. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff ensuring that every detail was perfect. The selection of finger foods was impressive, catering to both vegetarians and meat lovers alike. We indulged in an array of mini burgers, chicken crepes, bruschettas, and more. Each bite was a delightful blend of flavors, crafted with care and precision. The dessert table was a highlight, offering freshly made scones with cheese, jam, and cream, along with an assortment of brownies, apple tarts, macaroons, and a carrot cake that was absolutely delicious. Each dessert was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked. Our beverage choices included a variety of teas and coffees. I opted for rooibos tea, which was served in a charming tea jug and a fancy floral cup, adding a touch of luxury to the experience. Adding to the ambiance was a talented violinist who played beautiful melodies throughout the afternoon. This live music enhanced the elegant atmosphere, allowing us to reminisce and enjoy each other's company in a serene and sophisticated setting. Overall, our high tea at the Sugar Club Restaurant was an exquisite experience. The combination of exceptional service, delectable food, and a luxurious atmosphere made it a perfect celebration. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to enjoy a special occasion or simply indulge in a refined afternoon tea. What an exquisite high tea it was!

Loved our dinner here. From setting foot into the hotel, as outside visitors dropping by for dinner, we were treated like family by Augustino. What a welcoming, kind and courteous host! Our waiter, Prenolin, was equally great. He offered excellent menu suggestions, and quite a flambée show which he treated us to. The restaurant has a rich and plush feeling, very cozy. Stunning view of the ocean over the pool with terrace seating when weather allows. The food matched the experience, and we'll certainly be back!

Meh. Lovely ambience and staff very friendly. They made an effort for a birthday. Bit too dark to see our food properly. They were not busy but mains took really long to be served. Had 2 virgin cocktails that sounded better on the menu than they actually were. Had the Westcoast Lobster starter for R250 which was quite disappointing and completely forgettable. Mediocre restaurant.

The only thing I really don’t like, is how long it takes the waiters to come back to me. Even though many of them can help you, they just take too long. The chicken burger was okay, I really like the fries here. I enjoy the chips or nuts they give on the house. The vibe is vibey and the staff is always smiling so friendly. Always frequenting 14 for family lunches and dinner dates. Exceptional service from the waiters and managers alike. Food is fast and delicious. The setting is very elevated and cosy. Some days there is live music and when there isnt, the bustling of Chartwell Drive can be heard in the background amongst the laughing and clinking of plates and glasses. This is one of our family go to restaurants and I recommend it to everyone. Ps staff are very accommodating of special requests such as birthdays and take aways and even ordering ahead.

Great restaurant. Aesthetically pleasing, good food and variety of drinks. Our waiter was top notch and was able to make us overcome the challenges we had with seating arrangements/ table (hence the missing star ⭐️…the lady who is in charge of seating arrangements was a bit hostile to us). Finished two bottles of wine 🙈

This is a really beautiful place and the food is outstanding. But the service from the waiters was really the cherry on top. We arrived with huge luggage while waiting for our flight and the staff made us feel so welcome, they took our bags and put them away at the back while we ate and constantly came to check if we needed anything. Our waiter went the extra mile in keeping us comfortable and even let us leave our bags while we went to see the beach just down the road. And they all helped us load our luggage into the Uber when we left. Such gentlemen. Absolutely loved the experience. Will definitely go back every time I’m in Durban ♥️

Took my wife out for our 17th anniversary. Beautiful place with a great atmosphere. Food was good and the prawn pasta a definite winner. 3 stars because I felt the waiter was not very helpful or he had more VIP customers and we was in his way. Located in Umhlanga, Mo Noodles offers an authentic yet trendy dining experience. Whether you're looking for a healthy option, something new age and sexy, or just delicious food before hitting the town, Mo Noodles has got you covered. The restaurant provides a quiet and sophisticated atmosphere with great food options such as Tong Mein, star salad, and their own delicious ice cream. I visited Mo Noodles on two different occasions as a part of the 'percher' project as a mystery diner. Both occasions were quite different to each other as the first was on a fairly busy Thursday night where the downstairs section was full and the second visit was a quiet Sunday lunch where there had only been one other table during the whole visit. Having previously visited Mo Noodles a few years ago I was delighted to go back to try the meals that i had enjoyed and they did not disappoint. The star salad is still the tasty fresh salad full of flavour and vibrant colours. the Tong Mein was a hearty warming soup with chunks of vegetables and mixed flavours (I added more chilli!). My daughter joined on my second visit and despite being a fussy eater she thoroughly enjoyed her chicken noodle dish - minus any vegetables - and the chopsticks were a highlight. She completed her meal with marshmallow ice cream off their extensive list of home made ice creams. Would I recommend Mo's? 100% yes. Service - adequate. Decor - bright and airy (Except I don't recommend the upstairs, espec if its nighttime and your eyes aren't 'youthful'!).

Out of stock items meant having to change order, then no milk for coffee after dinner was disappointing for those who wanted. Others enjoyed their meal so not a complete bust!

Absolutely awful experience. The food was disgusting and was NOTHING like the menu described. Atmosphere was terrible, the manager on duty did not even stand to greet us when we entered, yet there was no one else in there. I phoned to complain about this order and no one got back to me as promised, I had to phone back twice subsequently and WhatsApp another manager to get any kind of half-interested response. Horrible customer service and pathetic attempt at Asian fusion. Keep your voucher, no one wants your crap food.

Mo Noodles: umhlanga review. So I lived in ballito for a while and never got a to venture too far for food outside Ballito so totally forgot about Mo noodles in umhlanga. Such delightfully fresh, easy flavour profiles and friendly staff. They ate based behind oceans mall and this was called a Star Salad. I was so thrilled about their menu ♥️♥️

Really disappointed. Been there once before and wasn't impressed. We were 1 of 2 tables. Food took 45min. I ordered the Chu Chee Half Chicken and I'm left wondering how big these chickens are??? Barely 200g of chicken, some onion, 3 slivers of pepper.

Excellent service at the restaurant. The waiter was polite, attentive, and unobtrusive. The place is quiet despite being close to the village. The interior is light and airy, with outdoor seating available. The food was delicious, and it was served quickly. I will definitely return!

On business from Cape Town and decided on Mo Noodles to treat my clients. Unfortunately it was not the best choice to impress as we left very unimpressed. My clients ordered juice just to be told that there was no juice (after they went through the list of all the juices on the menu). Ordered Appletizer just to be told there was none. We should have left at this stage but kept the good reviews in mind. One client ordered beef stir fry - just to be told there is no beef. According to the waiter the were very busy during the day. Two of the dishes were nice - it is difficult to go wrong with stir fry rice. The dish of my one client was so salty that she could barely eat it and gave up after a few bites. The coconut and lime soup tasted was also not a winner - actually tasted like a premix product. We told the both the manager and the waiter about the one dish that was not edible. Unfortunately no effort to rectify or take it off the bill. Sad to say that we will not be back.

Restaurant is located is a quiet area near the Post Office. Away from the chaos of the village. Food was good fusion Asian tastes. Well priced, good quality. Restaurant was very busy so service was slow but the waitron was a gem.

Bellézar Umhlanga is a beach cafe and bar located in Umhlanga, offering breakfast, lunch, dinner, and brunch options. Situated at Shop G12 in Gateway Shopping Centre, it provides a variety of meals and features an ocean terrace for a delightful dining experience. With its prime location near the beach, this award-winning cafe is a popular choice among visitors looking to enjoy delicious food with picturesque views.
We had a delicious Sunday lunch at Bellezar. We ordered the beef burgers with chips, which were delicious 😋. The hot sauce was not too spicy. I would have preferred it a little more spicy. The cool drinks were nice and chilled. We loved the atmosphere and the sea breeze. We parked along the beach and walked to the restaurant, so I'm not too sure about parking.
Cheryl N — Google review
Disappointing Yearend Dinner Experience I wish I had looked at the current reviews for Bellezar, my company could have saved ourselves the horrible night out at the establishment. We chose this venue based on past visits for breakfast and the night time vibe we saw and heard when walking on the promenade. I'm sad to say that my our Friday night visit to Bellezar was a letdown. The food was a mix of dried-out, cold dishes and undercooked, bloody meat or chicken. The inconsistency was staggering. Even the desserts were unimpressive, with the pannacotta being overly firm, the crème brûlée lacking a crunchy top and the custard was scrambled, and the tiramisu being spoiled (and we were still charged for it). The service was disorganized, with staff seeming overwhelmed. Management was nowhere to be found, and when we alerted them to the issues, we received a dismissive "oh okay." However, one staff member stood out for her attempts to cover up for the lack of service. Unfortunately, the lady who coordinated the event when we booked was nowhere to be found. I now see her motive in insisting we send our meal choices to the restaurant at least a day ahead. The proof of this was the meals that arrived for people who were late. These meals were just left out on the table. We were told the kitchen will not keep them warm. The atmosphere was pleasant, largely due to the company I was with and the beautiful view of the ocean. Overall, my experience was disappointing, and I left feeling ripped off. Our bill was almost R18000.00. The gratuity was added in by the establishment. The food quality and inadequate service was a clear indication that Bellezar standards have dropped and the owners and management simply do not care. I could go on but it is not worth it. I will not be visiting again. Definitely not recommended.

We went to this restaurant for a lovely breakfast with stunning ocean views. The food was amazing, and the staff were super friendly. The Eggs Benedict with hollandaise sauce and halloumi cheese was absolutely delicious. The place also seems like it has a great vibe at night!

I have previously visited the Bellezar on a few occasions but I jumped to the opportunity to participate when I heard about the Percher Project. I visited on two separate occasions – once with my 3 primary school children and once with my significant other. Both visits drew the same conclusions: Service & Restaurant: The service is okay, both waiters did what they needed, nothing more, nothing less. We sat upstairs on the first visit, the upstairs is brighter and a bit busier and the manager Daniel was attentive. We sat downstairs so we could people watch on the second visit, but I felt that we were almost forgotten down there, the waiter only appeared to take the orders, bring the food and bring the bill, he even forgot that he was checking what desserts were available and I eventually lost interest in hanging around. No manager popped past and the table next to us thought that the plants were an ashtray, yet no ashtray was offered (I was secretly hoping they would be booted for smoking, but it was confirmed to be a smoking area which is a huge let down to a non-smoker). I was presented with wet menus on both occasions. But the view – that really is a big plus. Especially on a lovely warm day or if you are entertaining foreigners. Food: The food is the redeeming quality of this restaurant. The children ordered chicken strips and chips which were good quality crispy golden strips with a delicious cheese sauce that they devoured. My son chose to have a cheese toasty which to an adult looked amazing with thick handcut artisan bread, but he commented that all he wanted was normal bread (children!). The chicken schnitzel with mushroom sauce, veggies and chips was outstanding. For the cost and the size of the schnitzel, it really was great value with two chicken breasts that I couldn’t finish, my only suggestion is to include more sauce to complement the amount of chicken. On the second visit we shared the seared tuna and salad as a starter – take my word for it, this was a huge feast of flavours with a thick sweet soy, tender tuna and a squeeze of lemon with a fresh salad and lashings of avo on the side. My SO tucked in before I could even get a photo as it looked so delicious. He then had a crown burger which in the scheme of burgers looked great, I had the trio of calamari in a spicy/creamy sauce with rice and this really was delicious my SO had food envy! The calamari was cooked to perfection, not rubbery. Will I return? Yes. Probably. The service is okay, but it does not distract me from the really good food and the amazing view.

Superb location, just at the edge of Umhlanga Main Beach. Spacious interior, tables available also outside. Nice selection of food and beverages. Lousy service though. Preparing food may take some time, yet if grabbing a bottle of beer from the bar takes 30 minutes, something is wrong. Waiters attitude far from attentive. In fact I was considering a 1-2 score however after the conversation with the Host (was nice to meet you, Andrew) I gave the venue a 3 as a sign of encouragement. This place does have a potential for 5. Service makes the difference.

I went here many times over my weeks vacation and thought the food overall was very good along with the prices. Breakfast is especially nice! Amazing omelettes. Some staff were superior while others were so so.

Gotta hand it to them in regards to their view and atmosphere. The place is lovely and clean. I did however find the service to be slow but only because the place is quite busy. I would say the waiter’s and runners were doing their best but management were more involved in greeting their friends and having their back turned to other customers. We ordered the pizza and it arrived cold and slightly crusty cheese on the top. I suppose it had been sitting in the pass for quite some time with no attention from passing staff members. Eventually we got our pizza and it was like eating a flavourful cheese cracker. Based on the taste, I think it would have been amazing in it’s fresh form so that was a pity. When it came to payment I was slightly annoyed because I had the bill and was ready to pay. I had waited for some time so I eventually raised my hand for a good 6-7 minutes. I watched a male and female floor manager go and greet their friends and then disappear to the back. Eventually we got to pay and leave. I would love to come back but I definitely won’t, nor will I recommend others to come here till all staff members are trained and floor managers understand their role.

Had an absolute wonderful experience. The ambience is absolutely amazing. The wonderful view of the ocean just ads that little bit of magic. The food is tasty, well presented and huge portions. The live band added to an afternoon well spend. The staff and managers checked regularly that our every need was attended to. Well recommended.

A lovely spot to sit outdoors overlooking the ocean or indoors if too cold. The young ladies serving were very pleasant. I had tea and sparkling water as well as French toast with bacon and banana - Imitation maple syrup. I’d like to come back for pizza sometime. Kid friendly and water for those with dogs provided. A very pleasant cafe.

We have eaten here a couple of times over 3-4 years. We always had GREAT food and GREAT service. This week we had pizza and pasta and then the seafood platter and the sangria. The food is fresh, best seafood, best salad, best pasta, everything is perfect and then the staff deserves a compliment too. Even though it is busy most of the time, they are attentive, polite, gives suggestions when you ask for it and just overall caring. Cannot fault them at all. The manager/owner comes by every table to check on everyone. We have to give them 5 stars + for food and service, based on our experiences here of more than 5 times over 4 years! Oh and the location and few is just an absolute BONUS!!! 😁💕

Beautiful setting on the Umhlanga promenade. Sadly, this is a restaurant that should not be serving Italian food. Toasted sandwiches and chips with drinks while you are on the beach would be great. The chef can not make a basic pomodoro sauce. Fruti de mare had a seafood cocktail out of a packet. Chicken with mushroom and white wine was overpowering with mushrooms and wine not cooked through. Servers were attentive and pleasant.

The place is beautiful and spacious to go with kids and the Jenga game on each table is a good touch. Loved the space The food was average although unfortunately their Mac n Cheese lacks cheese and is basically yellow macaroni. We sent that back. Unfortunately our waitress was not very attentive as we had to follow up on our drinks orders at the bar and she didn’t notice that our food order was missing For NYE it was mentioned on the poster there would be fireworks but what we got was a very restricted view of fireworks being displayed at another establishment. It was a tad underwhelming.

The chicken burger from Super Burger is really yum. We had the crispy fried calamari from Pontos, which was ok. It was a bit oily and needed some lemon. We weren't asked which sauce we wanted , we also ordered the chicken and prawn combo. The presentation was really nice, taste wise, I gave it a 3, the chicken was a bit dry, and I didn't like the sauce. I felt the prawns was a bit overdone. The scenery is lovely, and I love the lawn outside for kids to play around. There are huge tvs yo watch soccer, rugby or cricket.

✔️What a stunning venue! ✔️The views are to die for and the layout with all the different food options makes a lot of sense. ✔️We ordered from 4 different outlets. ✔️ice cream was great as was the server ✔️Everyone was happy with their choices of food ❎️Except for the person who ordered pizza. Pizza was below average. ❎️ The service was not great at the pizza place. One of our party ordered and the pizza never arrived. They forgot to make it! 3 staff standing around chatting on a very quiet Tuesday evening. Hello! ❎️The tables were dirty and sticky and even asking for someone to come wipe it down, nobody did. ❎️ Luckily we had wet wipes. ❎️ The bartender was not able to make us a non-alcoholic cocktail (any cocktail) as he was completely out of products.

A Modern and Lively Experience at Galaxy BINGO & GAMING • ENTERTAINMENT Rating: ★★★★☆ (4 out of 5 stars) Review: My friends and I recently visited Galaxy BINGO & GAMING • ENTERTAINMENT for lunch, and we had a memorable experience in this vibrant establishment. The restaurant exudes a modern and upbeat ambiance, complemented by its tucked-away casino—a unique feature that adds an extra touch of excitement to the venue. One aspect that stood out to us was the cleanliness of the restaurant's facilities. The availability of well-maintained toilets within the premises was a welcome relief, especially when compared to the often lackluster facilities found in some malls. As for the food, I started my meal with the calamari, which was expertly battered and served with a delightful tartar sauce. The calamari had a perfect balance of tenderness and crispness, making it a delicious appetizer that I would recommend. For the main course, I opted for the chicken schnitzel with cheese sauce. While the chicken itself was cooked to perfection, I was slightly disappointed with the cheese sauce. It had a distinctly store-bought taste, which detracted from the overall flavor of the dish. Despite this minor setback, the quality of the chicken was commendable. Moreover, the service provided by our waiter was pleasant throughout our visit. Their friendly demeanor and attentiveness added to the positive experience we had at Galaxy BINGO & GAMING • ENTERTAINMENT. They were prompt in taking our orders and made sure we felt well taken care of during our time there. In conclusion, Galaxy BINGO & GAMING • ENTERTAINMENT offers a modern and lively atmosphere, complete with a hidden casino and clean restroom facilities. While the calamari was a highlight of the meal, the chicken schnitzel fell slightly short due to the store-bought taste of the cheese sauce. Nonetheless, the overall experience was enjoyable, thanks to the pleasant service provided by the staff. Whether you're looking for a satisfying meal or an entertaining gaming experience, this restaurant is worth a visit. Please note that tastes and experiences may vary, so I encourage you to try out Galaxy BINGO & GAMING • ENTERTAINMENT for yourself and form your own opinion.

I nearly gave this lovely establishment a 5 star but there was one thing that dropped it off from it's perfect rating, it's onion rings. There were cooked well... but the seasoning was bland, it tasted like nothing. The burgers were amazing. Delicious. The veggies on the side were tasty and cooked to perfection. The cocktails, slightly pricy, by just a bit, were delicious. I am sad they buffed their prices up a bit, I was raving to people at how well priced they were only to come back to be like, as darn. But still better than most places. I would definitely go back for more.

The Oyster Box Hotel is a luxurious beachfront hotel with refined rooms and suites, offering superb service and an iconic colonial charm. Originally a cottage in the 1930s, it was transformed into the first hotel in Umhlanga, overlooking the Indian Ocean and the red and white lighthouse. The hotel provides direct beach access, two pools, spa facilities, and a delectable breakfast for guests.
The beautiful view from our room was breathtaking and sound of the ocean very soothing. However The luxury sea view room was smaller than we expected. Breakfast and high tea are absolutely the must Curry buffet, on the other hand, disappointing. It was just a buffet. We definitely will come back, and I will highly recommend The Oyster Box Hotel. My family and I have been loyal visitors of the Oyster Box for the past six to seven years, and I can honestly say that every single experience has been exceptional. You have never once disappointed us. Last night, I had booked and paid for the Chai Tea event, but the atmosphere was so amazing that we decided to enjoy supper instead. The food was absolutely outstanding, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. A special mention must go to Scott, the manager on duty, who was incredibly accommodating, prompt, and attentive. He made us feel so comfortable and handled everything with such professionalism. He quickly arranged to credit the Chai Tea booking, and we simply paid the difference for our supper. The process was effortless from start to finish from making the reservation to the communication with the staff and the service on the night. Scott truly deserves a 10 out of 10 for his warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail. I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to Wendy for accommodating my reservation request. I initially booked for 5 guests , with the special consideration that my mom and aunt are diabetic. It was so thoughtful and appreciated that the high tea was adjusted to cater for both diabetic and non-diabetic guests, making the celebration even more special. Lastly, a word of appreciation for our server, Brandon i can be corrected, who looked after us during the evening. Please pass along my gratitude to Scott, Wendy, and Brandon for making our visit truly memorable. The Oyster Box will always have us as returning guests, and I look forward to many more special experiences with you in the future

This was our first time trying their high tea and it was a lovely experience. The waiter took the time to explain everything available on and off the table, which was really helpful. There was a great variety of both savoury and sweet options to choose from. What touched me the most was that when I made the booking, I mentioned that one of us is vegetarian and they thoughtfully prepared a generous plate of vegetarian savories just for our table. The desserts were also delicious and perfectly balanced, not overly sweet. We’ll definitely be coming back

Disappointing Steak at a Prestigious Hotel We had high expectations dining at the Beverly Hills Hotel, it was the celebration of my sister’s 60th birthday but unfortunately, our experience was deeply disappointing. The biggest letdown? The steak. It was, without exaggeration, the worst steak my husband had ever eaten—completely drenched in what tasted like a saltwater solution, rendering it almost inedible. To make matters worse, the service was slow. My husband, who is diabetic, was extremely hungry by the time our food finally arrived, leaving him no choice but to force down the overly salty steak. For a hotel of this caliber, such poor execution of a simple dish is unacceptable. The only redeeming factor was the ambiance, which was indeed excellent. However, great surroundings mean little when the food is this bad. We expected much better from such a renowned establishment and left incredibly disappointed.

Attended an event, parking was very tight. Outside venue, extremely windy and cold. Waiter brought 1 drink and then couldn't be found. Tapas style menu, risotto rice was not cooked, the chicken and pork tasted the same to me. Vegetarian options lacked imagination. Happy I didn't pay to attend.

Sheer class! Incredible buffet lunch. Limited tables so there are no long queues or noise. The food was just out of this world! Service was on par. Complimentary extras for those celebrating their birthdays-rose petals, balloons and cake. I would go again and again and again 👏👏👏.

The tried, tested and ever sophisticated Umhlanga landmark that also never disappoints! An exquisite lunch with the signature white tablecloth experience that speaks finesse. Great service from Londeka under the keen and caring eyes of Lawrence!

Popped in for memories sake! On our first date some 16 years ago we enjoyed a bottle of bubbly in exactly the same spot before our meal. The waiter was excellent, view was still amazing, but the bubbly a lot more pricey!

This is one hotel that specifically caters for is is dedicated to those who enjoy fine dining in life especially mouth watering & decadent deserts. I had the opportunity to eat a delicious chocolate brownie with honey combs and a generous scoop of pecan nut ice iceam drizzled and chocolate drizzle. This is idea for a Winter night craving & its a generous portion size too! The waitress was absolutely friendly and accommodating. She was efficient in her duties and she advised me on my order. I had an excellent dining experience and i would definitely be going back for that July lamb shank that's currently on a Monday promotion at the moment.. and she did highly recommend the steak as well. Sounded yum.

Breakers Resort Hotel is a luxurious beachfront property located just 50 meters from the beach. The resort offers a range of accommodations, including studio and two-bedroom apartments. Guests can enjoy daily pool activities and reliable WiFi. While the location at the end of the main beach-facing street may not appeal to everyone, the friendly and helpful staff make up for it. The hotel provides clean rooms with great amenities for kids, although some guests found that the heated pool was not as warm as expected.
We had great service and enjoyed the location: close to a forest walk, by the beach and close enough to restaurants. The slides by the pool kept kids busy the whole day, and it was nice and peaceful at night to ensure all slept well. We got clean bath and beach towels daily, and house keeping kept our room clean and neat. The pathway in front is well lit with lots of security, it always felt safe. The beaches are cleaned daily, I didn’t see any trash anywhere. Best coffee is at the Forest Cafe just around the corner. We would love to return

This place is immaculate conception, it's beautiful they keep the rooms neat, the reception itself is great you can sit while waiting to check in . Since it's under construction, but it's coming up beautiful. I love the security guys, they know their job, they explain calmly to you to go to your parking, keep the good work guys. For any requirements, they respond very quickly and nicely explanation that's what I love the most. I whish to book in again next time for my holiday. Good work guys 💪.

Fantastic location, especially if you get a room facing the sea. It's children friendly with a number of activities. You can walk safely on the beach almost all the time (Gate closes at 10pm until 5am). They have a warmed pool (cherry on the cake), you can swim until late. Awsome place. I could visit annually.
Andrew S — Google review
Rooms smelt stuffy and damp, and the bathrooms are old and in need of an upgrade. Service around the pool was poor – the waiters were inattentive and unhelpful. The restaurant management was unprofessional and inconsistent: some halal guests were allowed to bring in food while others were chased away, which made it feel unfair and questionable. The resort managers didn’t address any of these issues. Overall, it lacks the lively, welcoming vibe of Umhlanga Sands – the atmosphere here felt dead and quiet.
Quri — Google review
What an amazing time we had. Great kid-friendly resort with great facilitators doing the activities with kids and adults ( they do have a passion for what they do). Waiters and staff members are friendly and professional. The resort is well maintained and clean.
Danilda V — Google review
I am giving this a five-star rating because all of my issues can be resolved if Breakers makes a few changes: 1. Every room, including privately owned ones, should have a safe. I had money stolen from my handbag by a maid. 2. Please repair the dryer—it was not working during my stay. 3. A camera should be installed in the laundry room. If someone removes your clothes and replaces them with theirs during your paid cycle, the staff responsible should be held accountable. 4. The restaurant service could be improved. For example, the baked beans were overly spiced, which is not suitable for children, and the French fries could be better prepared or atleast be correctly prepared how can you go wrong with French toast.
Reshma M — Google review
Swimming was banned on this beach during our stay. Huge disappointment if you were looking forward to enjoy the beachfront activities. (Which is no longer then beach front so it's false then to advertise. If it's not available it should be communicated) The hotel restaurant is not great. The heat pumps and pool slides were off when we wanted to swim. So if you just want to look at the ocean without swimming, this might be the place for you.
Jeanette P — Google review
Great location and facilities. Wonderful staff. I loved Bongi and her interaction with kids. She made even the simplest of games so much fun! She's an asset to Breakers. I imagine it gets very noisy in the summer though. Bad score for the room, ours was privately owned and in poor condition.

Nestled in the vibrant Umhlanga Ridge, The Baron - Umhlanga stands out as a premier dining destination that exudes sophistication and charm. This upscale restaurant is perfect for those looking to celebrate special moments or enjoy intimate meals with loved ones. With a menu that features an array of meticulously crafted dishes, including succulent steaks and delightful sides like crispy onion rings, every bite promises to be memorable.
Had such a great time at The Baron in Umhlanga with my sister! The place has a stunning view and a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer. I had a whiskey sour and their lamb curry — honestly one of the best I’ve ever had. The curry was so good I couldn’t even think about taking leftovers home! Definitely worth a visit for both the food and the vibe.

Fantastic resturants in Umhlanga. The preparation of the steak was amazing. Crispy onion rings and chips were on point. The spinach and butternut were flavourful. The blue cheese sauce needs a bit of work, but overall, everything was good. The salted caramel cheesecake was a winner, one of the best we've had by far. The atmosphere was relaxed and intimate, which made it perfect for date night. Our server, Bonnie, was a shining star, always available to assist and timeous with her service.

The Baron has definitely earned a special place on our list of favourites. Dined there twice and ordered differently each time. Highly recommend the Stuffed jalapeno as a starter and the Blueberry cheesecake or the creme brulee if you keen to experience perfection👌 The food was incredible, well prepared and the service was exceptional as usual. Panaramic views of our beautiful Umhlanga coast while you enjoy your carefully plated meal is definately worth a try if you looking for a good meal with a view.

On my last visit to The Barron I ordered the vegetarian burger with the legacy johannesberger wine. The food was delicious with a generous portion. The mix of flavours in the burger was great 👌🏼and the wine was well balanced. The atmosphere is cozy; modern; and clean. The Champagne bottles’ separator in the middle stole the show!

Disappointing Experience – Mold in Room and No Refund as Promised I usually don’t leave negative reviews, but in this case, I feel it’s necessary to share my experience. Unfortunately, my stay at this hotel was far from satisfactory. The room I was given had visible mold on the ceiling, which not only looked unpleasant but also raised serious health concerns. After bringing this issue to the attention of the staff, I was assured that a partial refund would be processed due to the condition of the room. However, despite multiple follow-ups, I have yet to receive any compensation. The lack of communication and follow-through was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. I had hoped for a more positive resolution, but sadly, I cannot recommend this hotel based on my experience
B M — Google review
Had a horrible experience at the bar last night. One of the waiters saw me on the beach and did his part to market the bar etc. but in between all the sales pitches, he failed to mention that it was a cashless bar, naturally making it a bit of an inconvenience as I just stuffed some cash into my beach bag. This could have been handled in a much more polite way but staff was horribly rude, especially the "manager" who was on duty on Monday night at around 7pm and who screamed after me as I left saying "Remember to never come back here!", after me insisting on speaking to a manager or at least getting a number. Absolutely sickening that an establishment such as this one hires staff that is so rude and vulgar to guests. Of course I would never go back.
Thiasha N — Google review
Cons! All they do is complain over charge for everything but serve raw/undercooked food. Imagine being charged R750 for 10 minute late check out and they did not even give you a courtesy call even worse the rooms were not even booked. If you value great service and peace of mind do not go this establishment.

Our party of 15 booked a luncheon at The North Star for 2pm on a Saturday noon. Having booked well in advance, and having confirmed each persons a’ la carte menu choice on the morning of our arrival, (this after requesting the menu several times in order to do so) one would expect that all would run efficiently upon arrival. Whilst our deck view near the beach was lovely, the food, sadly, was not an equal delight; our Calamari portions were micro (like the hotel) with us questioning if they were main or starter portions and Smothered in Cilantro. Some people’s meals were forgotten with some not having received their food, and when the waiter was called to advise of this, food was then brought about 15 -20 minutes after the rest of the party began eating theirs - however the fish (fish and chips) was absolutely raw, the fried calamari was all batter with very little calamari, and all sides that had been ordered, were forgotten. The children’s portions were in fact tastier and better sized portions than the adults options. Not once did the manageress on duty come over to enquire about the meal, albeit that the waiter must have reported our dissatisfaction/concerns. The beach directly in front of the hotel could be cleaned by hotel staff in order to eliminate all the litter that was strewn which distracted from the sea view. In short; the Steers take-aways that we all had to buy en route home were tastier, cheaper and more filling than our lunch experience. For the price, it was definitely not worth the money spent. A disappointing experience. But great to have spent time with our family.

I recently coordinated a corporate event at this boutique hotel in Umhlanga and was extremely disappointed by the unprofessional and condescending behaviour of one of the co-owners. While setting up for our event, the owner asked that our delivery truck, which was actively offloading equipment, be moved four houses down, despite our assurance that it would leave shortly. When I reminded him that we were also paying clients, he raised his voice and asked whether I thought our payment entitled us to the "entire hotel." His tone was loud, dismissive, and rude, not just to me, but also in front of my team and service providers. Even after voicing our concern to one of his colleagues, she excused his behaviour by saying he was going through something personal. The following day, his only comment was, “I’m sorry if I was rude to you—I’m just straightforward.” As professionals, we work hard to deliver seamless experiences for our clients. Being treated with basic respect should be non-negotiable. Unfortunately, that was not our experience here.
Sané N — Google review
I used to love visiting at Northstar Hotel in La Lucia, drawn in by its stunning views and friendly, helpful staff. However, my recent experience has left me with mixed feelings. The venue itself remains beautiful, but the service has taken a hit since Kristell took over. I've witnessed valuable staff members leaving, and the remaining team seems unhappy. Unfortunately, my interaction with Kristell was disappointing. She was rude and accusatory, making me feel uncomfortable and defensive. Specifically, I had recommended the venue to a couple for a small family gathering (not a wedding), and Kristell implied that I was profiteering from the venue without permission. The tone was confrontational, and I left feeling uneasy. Considering my past positive experiences, I'm sad to see the decline in service. Perhaps it's time to revisit their approach and prioritize staff morale. *Rating:* 2/5 stars
Rashmee S — Google review
ABSOLUTLEY DIGUSTING SERVICE AND BEHAVIOUR!!!! A woman named Cristel literally SCREAMED at me on the phone when I called to query why no one was responding on WhatsApp to my urgent messages about my booking for the folling morning and then proceeded to ask me, in the rudest manner, "What is so urgent you can't wait a day or two for a response?!" I have NEVER been treated this way by anyone let alone a manager of a hotel. This hotel should be shut down just for the awful way they treat people!

Kevin C — Google review
Bookings dot come is extremely misleading. Upon reading the Google reviews, it is honestly so disappointing that a blind eye and deaf ear are turned to the reviews because I am yet another person who experienced a horrific stay! "Too good to be true" is an accurate thing to say about this place. The images on bookings dot com & Google, seem to be when the place had originally started up - not the current situation. Absolutely ancient - not the cute vintage style that would come to one's mind. This place is old, dilapidated and not 4 stars at all. It would be great if at the least, comfort was apart of the so called package. To begin with, the images really are not what you get AT ALL. Beds feel so worn out and squeaky, the bedding in general just has such a stuffy stench to it. Fridge is old and has a horrible smell inside. Tea, coffee, sugar and milk creamer were in glass jars which smell and look like they have not been changed, refilled and or washed in the last 5 years. The rooms overall are small and so squashed, this is only for a couple and or for one person preferably. The bathrooms are shocking is all I can say - a tiny little space with the smallest sink known to man. The shower door doesn't close properly. The bathroom door is a sliding door on 2 tiny wheels at the top of the door, which cannot be pulled too quickly otherwise the entire door falls off the rail... Literally. Aircon remote batteries don't work. I was unfortunately placed in one of the back rooms, which is literally right by the kitchen and some area where the staff prep for breakfast. Despite having windows closed, you will be woken up between 05h00 - 05h30 by all the chattering and banging of items for breakfast. This place claims to be pet friendly, however there is literally the most miniscule patch of grass at the entrance of the property and not even a decent area to refill ones fur baby's water bowl besides the tiny bathroom sink. In my opinion, it is not actually pet friendly/accomodating. Rude is an understatement for the owner. Upon disputing what we booked, she ended up throwing a fit and screaming at the top of her lungs that the room we got and booked, was the same thing. Every morning for breakfast, she would rant on about the same issue again; which was one of the worst ways to start ones day in all honesty. I am ever so grateful for the staff being so friendly and doing their best to accommodate us, however due to the horrible attitude from the owner and the extremely stuffy feeling of the actual rooms, I will not recommend or return to this disaster!
Deepti B — Google review
The owner (old lady) is very rude she mistreat people, workers, drivers shout at them for no reason. That was very unkind, I hope she becomes a better person and have humanity
Vee M — Google review
We were fooled by the amazing pictures and the very good reviews (we have no idea how the ranking got so high). Unfortunately our room wasn't ready when we arrived and we were told to come back 4 hours later... for this a proper check in time would have been good but we didn't get any information prior to arrival and no answer to our check in time question. The room itself was very old and and we had to ask for new bedding because of many old stains - the host told us, that the stains were normal and everything was washed. Very entitled to think that dirty sheets are the thing to do at a 4star accommodation! It seemed like the sheets were just way too old and no cleaning could have helped the condition of them (thin, tiny holes, old yellow stains). But not only the room was not nice, also the public areas (pool, terrace...) did not seem to be cared of. The staff though was super friendly and did everything to accommodate us nicely. Very, very good service from the ladies! Thank you at this point to them :) When we wanted to leave and give back the keys in the morning the Host seemed to know that we wanted to complain to her and she just left the facility. That felt very odd. All in all we can't recommend this place at all and if we had booked for more than one night we would have changed the place.

Ocean Vista is an absolute gem - the neighbourhood and peaceful ambience made it the best getaway spot. Our stay was nothing short of amazing! The staff were warm, welcoming, and always ready to assist. Their attentiveness made our stay even more special. The host, Snezana, in particular, went above and beyond to make us feel at home. What a beautiful & peaceful weekend I had at this establishment. An absolute gem in Umhlanga. Stunning rooms, best sea views, lovely host, not forgetting the lovely breakfast. The bed was comfortable and the room had everything I needed. I took a walk to the beach in the morning and the area is peaceful, close to the beach, shops & restaurants in Umhlanga. That top floor chill area makes everything perfect. I love how the client experience has been thought through here. I’ll skip the usual hotels any day and book at Ocean Vista👌🏽👌🏽.

My first time visiting South Africa, and delighted with this guest house. I booked directly and Snezana was so helpful over email in advance of my trip, as I had a number of questions. Once I arrived, then Snezana provided a warm welcome, and it truly felt like home away from home. The guest house is in a very safe location, with secure parking inside, and the quality of the rooms was wonderful. Super peaceful, day or night. All the staff were friendly and breakfast on the roof terrace was brilliant (including catering for dietary restrictions). What a beautiful view of the area and the Indian ocean. Lots of joggers and cyclists even before sunrise as soon as you leave the guest house, and a 2km walk gets you to Daily Dose coffee cart, and even at 6am, lots of locals are already there grabbing a coffee. I had a great stay, everything was perfect, and I would definitely return to Ocean Vista Boutique Guest House next time I'm in Durban.

Centrally located and close to the beach and shops. Easy to get to from the freeway and the airport. Room was comfortable and the bar fridge and microwave a definite bonus. Staff are friendly, and the breakfast great. This was my second stay at the guesthouse and will definitely stay there again.

My room was dark and without fresh air. The air conditioning I was shown was an overhead ceiling fan which got chilly A choice between being cold or feeling claustrophobic. I was promised a room that provided a pool with a view but the room was some distance from the pool area and had no windows to speak of. I did not like the way the proprietor handled my complaint as it came across as patronising trying to make it my problem rather than hers and I was told rather mockingly that I couldn’t expect The Oyster Box at budget rates. Who was expecting The Oyster Box? Certainly not me. Not a totally unpleasant experience as the room was clean and the staff friendly.

We had a pleasant 2 night stay. Very quiet complex. Walking distance to the malls, eateries and the beach

It's an amazing experience, been sleeping here for 3 nights now and i can say the services offered are by far the most worthwhile. Though there were minor issues regarding the first room i stayed in (202) which had things that weren't working properly. The ocean view in addition to the amazing buildings and architecture are the cherry onto of this establishment.

104 was just Amazing. Close to the beach, restaurants,Pick n Pay and stores. This place is just amazing. Peaceful an excellent get away place. You are not going to want to leave. Nice surrounding areas to take walks. It is safe. No hassle with Bolt services if u want to go to Ushaka. Super friendly Staff.

Room 202 the apartment had a bad smile the spray they used made it worse, when we come back from our activities we had to open the door for an hour, we couldn't even dinner on the table
Mapula S — Google review
104 was a great place to stay. Close to all the shops and restaurants...just across the road. Quiet building with balaconies facing away from the shops and noise. Nicely landscaped. Side entrance to a road that leads to beach (100m walk) see pictures below. 104 has a gas grill, fully equipped kitchen with washer and dryer. Covered parking and staff that do a good job of cleaning every day. Great time with our family.
Doug H — Google review
The apartment is beautiful. You can see that it's an old building. But the work done on it gives it a modern touch. We loved the beach view. Our expectations were met. We had a great time until the monkeysstarted running all over the place. That's the only disturbance we got. But we received value for our money.
Thabo M — Google review
Brilliant wifi, our unit was pleasant but missing a few things. No aircons downstairs and the guest bedroom is freaking hot even though there is a roof fan but very slow. Fridge was not working well, cheese grater missing, very small pots to cook with. Ideal for small family. There was no cleaning services. It is close to pick n pay and convenient. The pool is the highlight and well maintained. About 5 min walk to the prominade and 25min walk to the swimming beach. Ipanema is unique and I will gladly recommend it. Just watch out for thr monkey's 😊

Amazing stay at this Guest house. Rooms are very nice, spacious and comfortable. Morning breakfast of your choice is delicious with many other sides such as croissants and yogurts. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. Also in a good location, safe and a walkable distance to shops/beach. Good Views and overall great stay. Will definitely be returning

This Guest house is a 5 star, Their rooms are luxurious very big and Cosy. They offer breakfast of your choice.

The WI Fi had a weak signal, the Netflix never worked. The short lady was welcoming. But not the others after change of shift. The tall lady that cooked was not friendly and didn't follow up. The breakfast menu was STD. The fruits was over ripe. The muffins and bread was stale and was not changed during our stay. At 10.15 the tall lady asked us to leave as it was past 10. We needed to iron 1 dress and she refused to lend us an iron and requested us to pay.

Was there for 4 days and I can confirm it will become my regular. I booked at the conference place with a sea view. The rooms are big. Only giving it 4 stars because the breakfast was just too rigid and boring
Lungile G — Google review
Honestly, best staff, very helpful and understanding. Very nice breakfast, once you eat their breakfast, you will only eat lunch or even dinner. We got the cheapest room so I guess that's the reason why we didn't get a microwave and Iron, but that's no train smash. The location of the Guest House is simply awesome, one can easily Uber safely, walk to the stores, malls, restaurants and beach and only about 10-15minutes away from Gateway. I enjoyed my stay.
Siyabonga N — Google review
Can't wait to check out!! Absolutely shocking - inconsiderate "fellow " residents who are so excessively noisy and no amount of requests to quieten down. Certainly can't recommend this location as no control to allow others decent nights rest! Edit - next morning we were moved to another room, staff couldn't do enough to help us, and remainder of our stay has been amazing. Have no problem with highly recommending this BnB/Guest house.
Colleen N — Google review
Really enjoyed my stay, the fact that they where pet friendly and accommodate perfectly suited for me and my pooch with a huge garden with turtles roaming around and monkeys in the trees. Truly felt like I was in a remote tropical resort... 1 minute from umhlanga village, and walking distance to the beach.. friendly guest staff. Breakfast was a healthy portion and quite a good variety of different breakfast spread options. Will definitely be back

Big thank you to Ashley and Hazel for their exceptional hospitality during our stay at Sandals Gusst house. The gorgeous property is very conveniently located within walking distance to fabulous restaurants, cafes, a mall and the beach. Upon arrival, we received a very warm welcome from Ashely (who gave us a complimentary upgrade, thanks Ashely!!). Absolutely awesome place to stay. Clean units and friendly staff. Helen was amazing. It's so close to the beach and beautiful sea view. Definitely recommend this place!! 😁
Genevieve M — Google review
Effortless bliss from check in to check out. Affordable for the location and doesn't break the bank "value for money".The Host Helen and her husband were super friendly and accommodating. All the little touches from tea and coffee to a variety of breakfast cereals and rusks to a complementary bittle of milk to get you started were above any hotel standard that I've been to. The room was immaculate and cozy "a home away from home" ease and an amazing view from the balcony. As for location...perfectly situated less than a 5 min drive either way from the beach and the gateway shopping centre makes getting around relatively easy. Will definitely return and recommend that travellers who are looking for a private "hotel feel" with ease of accessibility also give it a try.

A really nice guest house in Umhlanga. The owner is really friendly and accommodating. The rooms are clean and have everything you’ll need-TV, bar fridge and air condition. There’s a private bathroom attached to the room. The guest house has a pool and a jacuzzi. Exceptionally bad experience. Arrived at the facility, only to see that there was no water on the premises (this is understandable, the issue is that we were NOT informed of this at all when checking in with the owner just an hour earlier, which they were fully aware of). We then cancelled our booking and left within the hour, willing to pay cancellation fee but have not received any response since and no refund either. Would not recommend this stay at all.

Great place to stay and good distance to walk to the shops and the beech. Breakfast in the morning is great! It's better for couples and sk goes, not more than 3 at a time. The sleeper couch was abit too small to cater for 3rd person, in our 4 female group. Else, I recommend the place. It's great.

Long stay. Rooms are comfortable with aircon & fan. Lovely pool & well located in Umhlanga. Breakfast has well prepared food but only two options, the same everyday. I can't really think of anything negative about the place (or is that because I'm just a 17 year old?) Nonetheless, as we teens would say, the place was pure awesomeness. My family and I booked into the guesthouse last year during the Christmas season. We stayed in the apartment for about 5 days with a beautiful view of the ocean ahead though the beach itself was a little distance away. The guesthouse also included breakfast (at a separate fee) that my family and I devoured every day of our stay. Compliments to the chefs by the way. The couple owning the establishment were wonderful. The staff too as well as our neighbors in their own ways - let's not forget our tailed friends and literally their monkey business. Overall, I enjoyed myself. Anybody staying there is guaranteed to think more or less the same. Keep it up!

While I wasn't here long, I was able to enjoy the room. Coffee and tea provided, a nice shower (bring your own shampoo/conditioner - no wash cloths), good towels, comfy BIG bed. View out the window not exciting - but - who needs that when you are sleeping. The host was VERY kind and pleasant and had good answers to my questions. Breakfast extensive - similar to the other places I stayed (yogurt, coffee, cereals, hot cooked break fast if you wanted, breads -etc).

I see the reviews are great...however I tried to confirm the adress and my calls were declined 4 times. When I arrived I had to ring 3 times to get in. The next day there was no one to actually serve breakfast...we made coffee and waited about 25 minutes before the ladie came to offer breakfast. When we left there were no one we could give the key to. Room's cleanliness was average. I had a peacefull warm sleep but as far as hospitality is concerned it falls way short compared to other places.

This review is For The Unapologetic Service that we found ourselves in with The Hamptons…Out booking in 2022 was for April 2022 but could not travel to KZN due to the Storms that ravaged the KZN coast…The owners of the place were meant to send us any follow up and nothing happened…yes it’s been 2yrs since but when the asked about a refund of kind they just fobbed us off with their “ 3-6 months policy” now after two years…of which we were never informed about due to the second inclement weather storms that happened…So be careful of this kind of unsavoury practice! No Follow up from them Once they received our full payment! Not Cool Bob

I only stayed overnight, whilst on short business trip. I usually always book at a hotel in Umhlanga but wanted to try a guest house for a change. Upon booking, I chose the sea view option instead of garden / pool view option. Unfortunately, there was zero sea view from my room (#4). Please amend your online description to avoid future guest disapointment. Thank you Marco

I had a very nice stay here! It felt very secure, the location was great, and the staff were very friendly.

The guesthouse is conveniently situated in a quiet area within walking distance of shops, restaurants and the beach The welcome, check-in and service are warm and friendly The rooms come with all your basic necessities which makes the stay quite comfortable Breakfast was delicious every morning and the bar and swimming pool are a added bonus

I have stayed at The Hamptons twice, once for business and just recently took my wife for our anniversary. From the moment you arrive, Bob and Sally welcome you and you feel like you are at home. The rooms are magnificent, with beautiful sea views and the breakfast the next morning is freshly prepared and exceptional. We will definitely be back for some more time to relax and recharge our batteries!

Great place to relax. Excellent scenery and just a delight

Been here twice and I must say that Sally and Bob are the most gracious hosts I've had the pleasure of knowing. They're warm and welcoming every time with really great recommendations and a really good knowledge of the area. The room sizes are much bigger than your average guest house. The bed is huge with top class bedding and absolutely comfortable. Very quiet and peaceful even when they're fully booked. Great views from upstairs balcony with beautiful patio and indoor furnishings. Will undoubtedly recommend The Hamptons if you're lucky to get a booking.

Location is amazing, a walk away from the street that has got a mall and restaurants. We booked in unit 202, loved the place so much. The only problem was we couldn't connect to WiFi and we couldn't get anyone to assist us with that, that was the only down moment about the accomm. Dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, cutlery, all these are provided. Feels like home.

Villa
Nestled in the charming area of Umhlanga, Ocean Rocks Villa is a stunning Italian-style retreat that provides self-catering accommodations perfect for travelers seeking both comfort and convenience. Just a leisurely stroll away from the beautiful Umhlanga Rocks beach, this villa offers an ideal base to explore the coastal delights of the region. With its inviting ambiance and proximity to local attractions, guests can enjoy a relaxing getaway while soaking up the sun and sea breeze.
Absolutely dodge!!! Please be informed. We booked the ocean cottage unit (aka the dungeon) for a three day stay during the Christmas period. The unit was stuffy, and had a damp odor. There was mold on the bathroom ceiling, on the blinds and on sections of the bedroom curtains. The cupboards had dust and large clumps of lint. The couch was damp and cold. No sea view from the unit itself. The front door is glass offering zero privacy. Wifi was non-existent in the lounge, even after reporting the issue to the agent on mulitple occasions. Very limited parking and zero security presence. This place is not value for money and is by far the worst place I've stayed at in Durban.
Ashley T — Google review
Booked in 17th till 19th. The compartments in the building was not advertised according to each compartment in the villa. Hygiene was despicable. There were filth underneath the couch. Empty airfreshner can was empty. Internet was absolutely pathetic. We were practically distraughted over the wrong advertising. No Security whatsoever . My daughter's bmw nearlybroken into. We was so scared that we had to leave the night before as we was the only 2 ladies in the property. No privacy at all. Not safe.
Sands J — Google review
I would not recommend. The place doesn't have a sea view. There is no wifi but is advertised as having wifi. There was mold in the bathroom and bedroom. There was a damp smell in the unit and the couch was damp and wet. The worst place we have booked in Durban by far.

Why you should not book here: We booked the Ocean Rocks Villa Unit with Luke for 25 February to 2 March 2025. The unit was not as it seems on the website. You have a huge residential demolition site just meters from your room, being awakened by drills, grinders, falling bricks and tiles. A concrete table and two benches right in front of this site right by the driveway with no sea view...Your unit has an interleading door to the main house which is used as an office, resulting in you jolting up as people open the door on the other side that serves as their toilet. Not mentioning the sweeping and banging against this same door in the mornings. There is a foul smell that they try to mask with a very strong room deodorizer of sorts. We spoke to Luke on the 26th complaining of the lack of privacy, the fact that we were not informed of the builders right next door looking onto your comings and goings or that the property is actually used as an office. We even sent him recordings via wattsapp of the noise! He was going to come back to us.. he never did. On Friday 28 February, all we wanted was to rest, but this was not possible due to the construction noise and the staff in the house as this property is used as an office too. On phoning him again, we were told there was nothing they could do. This is totally unacceptable. They take your money in advance, but when you are not happy, there is nothing they can do. They could have offered a refund which would have allowed us to go somewhere else. I can understand why people say on the reviews that it is a scam. Whether you stay or go, you will be out of pocket. The sea view is there if you are happy to look onto an overgrown property being renovated with builders around looking into your bedroom. We did not attempt using the pool at this complete lack of privacy. We have now added our voice to the bad reviews you find, in the hope that we can save someone else from this experience. It is just frustrating to know that looking at the different timelines of the negative reviews, the owners don’t care. The bathroom blind is broken, with a clear glass pane in full view of construction. The kitchenette door hinges are askew… all things that a caring owner would have sorted out. Judging on their responses to reviews, one realises that this is a fact. On our return, we requested a 50% refund of our money to compensate us for the most uncomfortable, unpleasant stay ever. We have been ignored. Please do not book here…..

Disgusting venue. Filthy. They dint provide anything. Got an allergic reaction from their bed. No tissue, no soap, no coffee, nothing. Do not waste your time
Zico M — Google review
This property has both pros and cons. Starting with the positives, it has beautiful sea views. We had the master bedroom, and it was tastefully decorated and comfortable with a nice ensuite bathroom (bath only). The lounge had a comfortable couch, also with wonderful sea views. There is an upstairs balcony with again lovely views and a perfect place for entertaining. The cons are that it is very difficult to get hold of the owner/manager. It looks as if the property is undergoing renovations as there are areas where the paint is peeling, and there are broken kitchen cupboards. There is also a major construction in progress in front of the property. It's not a problem if you are staying over a weekend, but if you have booked in during the week, you will wake up to the sound of hammering. Hopefully, once renovations are completed and the development of the property in front has finished, it will be a good place to stay. As long as the property in front doesn't ruin the sea views!

Horrible experience even worst service !!! There was no water (municipal issues) but that's the issue the issue is the hosy or owner did not even bother providing alternative source of cold or warm water. Bedding was not changed from previous day. Not properly cleaned as I found woman's hair yet I was traveling alone. Pictures are lies ( there's no rooftop with ocean background) DO NOT BOOK OCEAN ROCKS VILLA IF you respect your money. They refused to give me my refund even though I checked out to go find a place with running water and didn't sleep there the last night I was suppose to be there.

0.1 rating Ocean Sands What you see on lakkerslaap is not what is in store for you when you arrive. Why book accommodation, they don't know you have arrived 🤔 Pluge pool and gardens are only available when owner is not on the property or is granny cottage is vacant. No deck on ocean villa property in Umhlanga. R1200 PD for a king bed is what you paying for, shower wets bathroom floor, air-conditioning continues to splash on the 1 window with 30% view of the sea. Perimeter security is none. Poor lighting. No load shedding back up solution.. just a little light.
