Located along Durban's Golden Mile, uShaka Marine World is a top tourist attraction offering a variety of activities for the whole family. The complex includes Wet n Wild waterpark with thrilling rides, Sea World boasting the largest aquarium in the Southern Hemisphere, and Ushaka Kids World for younger visitors. Additionally, there are attractions such as a seal stadium, penguin exhibit, and scheduled dolphin shows.
This place is truly one of Durban’s gems and a must-visit for anyone looking to combine fun, adventure, and a touch of education. From the moment I walked through the vibrant uShaka Village Walk, I felt immersed in the atmosphere. The seal show was entertaining and full of charm, while the dolphin show was nothing short of magical; seeing these intelligent creatures up close was unforgettable. The aquarium is breathtaking, with its wide variety of marine life and incredible underwater displays. I also explored the Dangerous Animals and Reptiles exhibit, which added an exciting edge to the day - it was fascinating and a little thrilling to see these creatures so closely. Every section was well thought out, interactive, and engaging. What really stood out for me was how well the park blends education with entertainment. It’s not just about having fun; you also walk away learning more about marine life, conservation, and the beauty of the ocean. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the facilities were clean and well-maintained. Overall, uShaka Marine World elevated my experience in Durban - it’s the kind of place where families, couples, or even solo adventurers can all find something special. I left with great memories, plenty of photos, and the desire to come back again! Highly recommended. 🌊🐬🐠🐊

uShaka is always a lovely place to visit when coming to Durban. I hadn’t been here since before Covid and was worried when I saw all the negative reviews, however it’s not bad at all. There are staff everywhere to assist, the spaces are kept clean, and the shows, aquarium and slides are all very enjoyable. We were here during off peak season so it was not busy at all. The parking has attendants on the inside and you have to pay at the gate too. The payment at the gate was R21 for about 6 hours, which isn’t too bad. I recommend having some cash as well. It’s important to check the website before planning your trip so you know when is the best time to visit based on what’s available.

🌊 1. Sea World Home to one of the largest aquariums in the Southern Hemisphere. You can walk through underwater tunnels and view sharks, rays, turtles, dolphins, and colorful fish up close. There are dolphin and seal shows scheduled daily — both entertaining and educational. 💦 2. Wet ‘n Wild Water Park Features water slides, lazy rivers, splash pools, and high-speed rides. Great for families and thrill-seekers. Lifeguards are stationed throughout, and facilities are well maintained. 🏖️ 3. uShaka Beach and Village Walk Located right next to the ocean, with easy beach access. Village Walk offers shops, restaurants, and cafés — from fast food to seafood dining with ocean views. You can also find souvenirs, surfwear, and local crafts. 🧭 4. Animal Encounters Optional experiences like snorkeling in lagoons, shark cage dives, or meeting dolphins (book in advance). Great for adventure seekers or photography lovers. 🎭 5. Cultural and Family Vibes Themed around King Shaka Zulu — you’ll see touches of Zulu culture and storytelling throughout. The staff are generally friendly, and it’s a very family-friendly and educational space. ⭐ Overall Experience 🌟 Fun level: 9/10 🧒 Family friendliness: Excellent 💰 Value for money: Good (combo tickets often save you money) 🍽️ Food & facilities: Varied and clean 🐠 Highlight: The massive aquarium and dolphin show
Lwandiso Q — Google review
uShaka is a beautiful big place to do alot of things, inreally think they did an outstanding job with the layout. The only thing I'd recommend is to improve on the seal show, it's was a little bit of a waist of time, they only have a short briefing then select soemone from the audience to meet a seal, and that's it show is over, I feel they can do a little more than a 5mint show, for me it was a waist the kids could hardly enjoy, the dolphin show was so amazing, got to give it tobthe staff that handles the dolphin show now that definitely worth to see, some areas where closed, and some restaurants are closed, so it's a little bit sad, I'd prefer to go early morning, as midday is extremely busy if you not someone for large groups of people. To view the marine life. They definitely are doing a great job and that you have an opportunity to meet the dolphins personally, but you would need to book ahead of time with them to personally have an experience with the dolphins. But the show you don't need booking.
Scholtz B — Google review
uShaka Marine World is an incredible place to visit! The aquarium is one of the best I’ve seen, with an amazing variety of marine life and beautifully designed exhibits. The water park adds even more fun, especially for families with children. The atmosphere is vibrant and safe, with plenty of food and entertainment options around. I highly recommend booking tickets in advance, especially during weekends and holidays, as it gets very busy. A must-see attraction in Durban!
Yasser D — Google review
Best place to visit around Durban. There are Marine Aquarium, Dolphin and seal shows, Dangerous creature show, water adventures, rope adventure and water parks. Everything totally worth. You can also take seperate tickets for each events, but it's better to take combo tickets. Go for water park if u gonna spend the whole day there. Ticket prices are also not high, but affordable. We really enjoyed it
Churchill J — Google review
I've been wanting to go there for ages. I was not disappointed. The staff are really working hard to make it an amazing experience. The exhibits are well maintained. There are lots of shops and more than enough to eat and drink. I will certainly go back and can definitely recommend it.
Mari S — Google review
What a great experience at uShaka Marine World! We wandered through the aquarium and honestly lost track of time—quiet walkways, huge viewing windows, and that lovely hush when a turtle glides past. Even the “non-fish people” in our group ended up pointing things out and taking way too many photos. Outside had a fun, holiday feel. We grabbed an easy lunch, drifted between shops, and caught a dolphin show without planning to—perfect little break for our feet. Salty air, friendly staff, and plenty of shady spots made it an effortless day out. We left sun-tired, smiling, and already talking about coming back.

Stadium

Arenas & Stadiums
Moses Mabhida Stadium is a modern 56,000-seat venue in South Africa that has gained popularity for its state-of-the-art facilities and versatile usage. It hosted seven FIFA World Cup matches, including a star-studded semi-final in 2010. The stadium offers more than just sports events; it also hosts concerts and even features bungee jumping.
I was really impressed by how well-maintained and organised everything is. The stadium has a great atmosphere, whether you're there for a match or just a visit. What stood out for me is the convenience 🌸there are restaurants on-site, making it easy to grab a meal or a quick bite without having to leave the venue. There's also a gym inside, which is perfect for fitness lovers or athletes in training. Clean facilities, ample parking, and a professional vibe throughout.
Onthatile R — Google review
We took the SkyCar up the arch just before sunset and the view over Durban stopped us in our tracks, ocean on one side, city stretching on the other. We took a few photos, then just leaned on the rail and watched the light slide across the roof. Even on a breezy evening it felt calm up there, like the city noise was on mute. Back at ground level we wandered the plaza, grabbed something to drink, and sat people-watching while the lights came on around the stadium. It’s one of those places that makes a simple hour feel like an occasion, easy, memorable, and worth the detour.
Warren L — Google review
stunning landmark with breathtaking architecture and panoramic views . The SkyCar and arch walk, when functional, offer spectacular sunset vistas over Durban and the ocean . Adrenaline activities & events Andrenalin junkies gather here but it now currently under renovations
Luyanda F — Google review
We went up in the SkyCar for a proper postcard view of Durban’s coastline, then lingered on the arch just to watch the city breathe. It’s clean, well-run, and surprisingly calming up there. If you’ve got nerves, the Big Swing is a rush; if not, the café and plaza still make it worth the stop. Sunset light on the arch is magic, photos do half the work for you.
Adrian T — Google review
Great place to visit. Great views and good architecture you won't regret it. I love the fact that it's easily accessible, spacious and clean too. Lots of parking space and a great environment. We've watched countless soccer matches and the atmosphere's always good and you get to meet different people.
Freedom135 — Google review
We went up late afternoon and the views were exactly what we hoped for—ocean on one side, city on the other, and a steady breeze that makes you pause. Staff were calm and friendly, and the whole process felt smooth from ticketing to the ride down. It’s one of those “show your visitors this first” places because it sets the tone for Durban. Back at ground level we lingered on the plaza, grabbed something cold to drink, and watched people cycle past. It’s easy to pair with a walk toward the beachfront, so the outing turns into a simple, happy couple of hours.

Durban Botanic Gardens, Africa's oldest botanical garden, is a vibrant mix of indigenous and exotic plants surrounded by majestic trees. The gardens feature a diverse range of flora including orchids, palms, and rare cycads. Visitors can stroll along walking paths, admire fountains and ponds, or relax in the Garden of the Senses designed for the visually impaired. The gardens also offer educational experiences in partnership with the University of Technology's Horticulture department.
The park and birds there well taken care of clean and quiet. A lot of sitting areas also accessible to cater as a venue for photo shoot for wedding, anniversary and family parties. Quiet spot to read a book during the week.
Lulu D — Google review
We slipped off for an hour between family visits and the city noise just melted, cool shade, giant trees, and easy paths you can wander without thinking. We found the lake, watched moorhens fussing around the lilies, and took a few photos before putting the phones away. It felt like a small breather in the middle of a busy family weekend. We grabbed cold drinks, sat under a big fig, and chatted about nothing important while the kids rolled down the lawn. Couples strolled past, a wedding shoot drifted by the orchids, and the whole place just moved at a gentler pace. Simple, calm, and exactly the reset we needed before heading back to the cousins.

Botanic Garden is beautiful, peace and quiet. I went on Saturday it was full yet so spacious as there was a wedding ceremony in the hall. People who were visiting the garden were able to access it. I would really recommend it 👌 if you want to relax, enjoy the view and nature.

We’ve had a visiting this place with my bestie and boyfriend! It’s totally free for everyone, and if you’re feeling generous, you can always donate a little something. Plus, there’s a great coffee spot and some books for super cheap. And don’t forget the cute little shop with all sorts of nice stuff and souvenirs!

I had a chance to visit the Durban Botanical Gardens a few months ago and it turned out to be one of those experiences that lingers with you long after you've left. I found the gardens peaceful and refreshing, with highlights like the orchid house, palm collection, and lake. The atmosphere felt calming yet full of discovery, blending history with natural beauty. Overall, it was a memorable place to relax, reflect, and reconnect with nature. A definite must visit if you are in Durban.

Beautiful and peaceful space in the heart of Durban. The educational signs make it a great spot for plant lovers, and the garden is perfect for a picnic or a romantic walk. There's also an affordable coffee shop on-site. Parking can be a bit difficult on busy days, but overall a lovely place to visit!

One of the oldest botanical gardens in Africa and a serene oasis in the heart of Durban. Gorgeous collection of cycads, orchids, and palm trees. Ideal for picnics, birdwatching, or quiet walks. The gardens are well maintained with clean facilities and ample benches. There’s often live music or events on weekends. Entry is free, though donations are welcome.

Umgeni River Bird Park, situated in the Riverside area on the north bank of Umgeni River, is a haven for bird enthusiasts. With over 200 species of birds, including some exclusive to Africa, visitors can explore lush landscapes and waterfalls while observing indigenous and exotic birds from Southeast Asia and Australia. The park's bird show offers an educational experience as exotic species showcase their talents. Once a quarry, this sanctuary was transformed into a vibrant avian paradise by Dr.
My kids loved this place. The lady at the entrance spent time explaining to us about different types of birds. The tuck shop man and the gogo there were very friendly. unfortunately we didn't get on time for the show. I deeply love this place
Nokhuthula ( — Google review
It was a great experience, especially for kids! They seemed to enjoy it even more than the adults. Although the variety of birds wasn't extensive, the kids had a blast. I didn't feel like it was crowded, but I can imagine it would be busier during school holidays. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit!
Jinto J — Google review
This is a difficult review for me but I still give it 5 stars. Any less and they may not be featured in recommendations of things to do in Durban. And you should definitely visit the bird park! The park showed some signs of deterioration from a previous vidit, but the birds looked well cared for despite this. You have educational boards up at every exhibit, so thinking school excursions would be a wonderful boost for young minds and support this park. We did not see the bird show, hosted twice daily - but i remember it being such a wonderful experience. And if for no other reason, there are 2 birds in the park that stole my heart many years ago: a yellow crested cockatoo - who is the friendliest little thing ever. I don't think we should scratch their heads through the wires, but this one allows me to and actually throws a little tantrum when you stop or move on. The other us a another parrot who learned how to say "hello" and just repeats it non-stop while you are visiting his home. So cute!!!
Chantelle W — Google review
Please go support the bird park so they can keep the interesting park going. There’s a coffee and tea place too. Some birds are really unique. Stay for the 11am or 2pm for the fly show.
Luc H — Google review
What a welcoming and beautiful experience. The birds are very social and interactive. The park is run down but at least the animals looks healthy. Feel free to order something to snack! The food is good and the peacocks love the leftover bread and chips.
Stefan C — Google review
Place is clean, birds are caged (some) and well taken care of. I had a great time with my girlfriends Linda 🫠. Laughing kookaburra took the crown
Ayanda G — Google review
Beautiful birds, place you can see just needs some TLC. Bird show was amazing!! An awesome experience would definitely recommend!!
Cameron C — Google review
I visited the Umgeni bird park with my family. When we entered It was really hot so we purchased an ice cream from the Cockatoo Cafe for our 6 year old daughter. We then proceeded to the free flight bird show. Which was really amazing and we really enjoyed. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. After the bird show we proceeded to the tables in the sitting area because our daughter is a very fussy eater so we carried her favorite snacks and foods that she will eat. She was hungry so she asked for a sandwich, when my husband removed the lunch box from our bag and opened it for our child to eat the Indian male from the Cockatoo Cafe rudely spoke to my husband in front of many other people that was there saying that there is a big sign outside saying no picnics, foods and drinks are allowed, which we did not see. Firstly we was not having a picnic we simply wanted to give our child something to eat because she was hungry and it was so hot and there was now where else with shade to sit. The manner it which he spoke and conducted himself was very rude and uncalled for and embarrassing he put our entire mood off and we left with immediate effect and did not get to view the rest of the bird park. This was a very bad experience for my family and myself which was uncalled for and we will never visit again. We will also be informing our families and friends about this place and tell them about our bad experience. Its because of arrogant people like this that places lose customers and finally close down. So sad

History Museums
Kwa Muhle Museum, located in the former premises of Durban's Native Affairs Department, offers a poignant look into the history and struggles of the city and its people. The museum features exhibits on life in Durban during apartheid, including photographs of township life and displays honoring those who contributed to the city's development. The building itself was once a symbol of oppressive apartheid policies but has been transformed into an elegant museum showcasing important portraits, documents, and memorabilia from that era.
There is no entry fee, It’s a helpful museum if you want to have an idea about the history of Durban as a city.
Sphamandla L — Google review
Great museum featuring some great exhibitions on Durbans history. The staff were welcoming and helpful! A little small, so hoping it could showcase more in the future but the historical photographs were incredible. Amazing quality for their time and showcasing an important time in South Africa’s history in foregrounding families and real people affected by apartheid forced removals. The HIV/AIDS showcase is one of the most thorough and expressive medical histories I’ve ever attended.
JBinedell — Google review
Great little Museum! In less than an hour you’ll get a good feeling for what life would have been like in Durban for people discriminated against during apartheid. The fact that this is the actual pass office makes it really tangible! The buildings are well kept and entrance is indeed free.

We brought leaners to Kwa Muhle Museum on the 11 November 2025. The experience was good until we were introduced to the lady by the name of Miss Shozi. She was rude to us teachers and also shouting at our learners not to touch anything from the musem. She instructed us not to photograph her while talking to the leaners, we didn't have the problem about that but the manner in which she addressed us was extremely rude. We are not willing to come back at KwaMuhle also we wouldn't recommend any other school to bring their learners there. We had a terrible experience. Thank you

The first thing that stood out as I walked into the old Native Administration Building was how clean and well preserved it was. Staff at reception were extremely helpful and kind. It was refreshing to experience good service from government employees. The museum itself is small with only 4 main display rooms. One of which has most of Durbans history in the form of story boards and sculptures depicting life at the time. There is a large room where an HIV AIDS gallery is held. There was too much writing on the walls. Literally. Another room showcased stories and paraphernalia of the Durban Old Boys, men who fought in World War 1. Although the information and faculties were relevant and informative, I expected more. Toilet facilities available. Ample parking. Safe.

Safe.

Beware of Thirupathi Spices I got robbed by the owner.4 Small packets of spices and 3 cokes for R 270.00.In JHB a pack of these spices is around R 20.00 each.Check before you Tap.Other shops told me im not the first, they over charge the tourists.
Trevor B — Google review
Good prices for authentic traditional jewelry, clothing and gifts. Not very busy. But too little parking. Very unsafe to park outside as metro police enjoy giving tickets and bully car guards rule the place, especially around the fish market. If you want to buy beaded stuff, come here and also bargain because it's one tenth the price you would pay elsewhere. There's also plenty spice shops. Plan to spend 1 - 2 hours here.
Rasta R — Google review
We arrived late morning and it was very quiet in the market. The parking was good as well as service facilities. All the stores displayed mainly touristy items. An interesting morning but would be better to go early. Definitely visit the spice shop and Aunty Pam's food store both excellent.

Nothing like advertised ; you are bullied into buying and when you say no they continue to push. Dirty and very dodgy even our uber driver wasn’t happy going there. They see the tourists coming and bullshit you into buying spices at expensive prices , I almost had a heart attack

The Durban Natural Science Museum, located in the heart of the city at the City Hall, is a popular destination for visitors. Despite its small size, it offers an excellent introduction to Africa's diverse wildlife, featuring exhibits on past and present life on Earth. The museum showcases a variety of stuffed animals including elephants, leopards, wild dogs, and vervet monkeys. Additionally, there are displays of plants, birds, reptiles, and insects.
Great for an afternoon visit. All exhibits are amazing and very lifelike. Had a great time and learned a-lot about all the different wildlife we have in Southern Africa. Wasn’t crowded or busy at all and the staff were very helpful. Definitely a worthwhile experience.

Very impressive natural history museum in downtown Durban. This museum rivals the fauna diorama displays at the New York Natural Science Museum. Special highlights include an almost complete skeleton of a non extinct Dodo bird. There are full size taxidermy animals for just about every species you would expect to see on a safari game drive including a small giraffe, white and black rhinos and even an elephant! The bird gallery was amazing. I wish we had come here before going to Kruger NP. Don't loiter outside the building for too long (although it is beautiful to look at) as the neighbourhood is sketchy.

A fascinating museum with a wide range of exhibits that make science and history come alive. The displays are educational, engaging, and perfect for both adults and children. I particularly enjoyed the dinosaur and wildlife sections, which are impressive and very well presented. Entry was smooth and quick, and the visit was definitely worth it. A great place to learn and explore in Durban!

Great small museum with some classic Sth African displays. Includes an effort to educate on climate change and conservation as well. It was great to see plenty of locals coming through when we were there. No cost except the "parking attendants"...

MINITOWN is a nonprofit park that has been open since 1969 and offers miniature replicas of city landmarks at a 1:24 scale. Located on Durban's beachfront, it provides an enjoyable outing for families and kids with moving models of planes, trains, a circus with animals, and even a movable bridge for passing ships. The attraction also includes several of Durban's landmark buildings and a tug boat navigating its own miniature dock.
The kids love it, for the first time they feel like real giants in this Mini town... The town is well kept and it was a great outing for the morning... So much creativity by the artists...

Walking around the small-scale models gives a different perspective and makes the visit truly enjoyable. It’s a perfect stop for families, school trips, or anyone curious to see Durban in a unique way. Definitely worth a visit!

It was cute and a nice little stop for foreign visitors to Durban. As a Durbanite, i expected a little more, but still thought it worth the price. The detail in some of the set ups were pretty impressive and you can walk through the different 'exhibits' for a closer look. There is a facility to buy snacks and drinks. We've were there for about 30 minutes. Saw a school trip at mini town with a guide talking about some of the structures that represented building in Durban from a couple of years ago. That was a nice touch.

It offers a variety of seafood eateries, souvenir shops, and stalls where visitors can enjoy boat rides. The privately developed section features open-air restaurants on an expansive wooden deck, providing a pleasant atmosphere to admire the harbor view while enjoying a meal or drink.
Was a fantastic outing. We had breakfast at Spur and then went on a harbour cruise and thankfully weather was good and went out the harbour. Wow, loved every minute.
LINDA S — Google review
Wilson's Wharf is a charming spot in Durban, on the KwaZulu-Natal east coast, offering a delightful mix of relaxation, entertainment, and scenic beauty. Whether you're a local or a visitor, this waterfront destination has something for everyone. Visitors can expect scenic views, boat rides, restaurants and cafes, shopping and other fun activities. The wharf offers stunning views of the Durban harbour, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll or a relaxing meal. One of the highlights is the boat rides available at the wharf. Whether you're looking for a short harbour cruise or a more adventurous speed boat ride, there's an option for every thrill-seeker. Wilson's Wharf is home to several eateries, including great seafood restaurants, known for its delicious seafood and pizza. The ambiance is perfect for a family meal or a romantic dinner. The wharf also features various activities, especially the boat rides, picnics, and cultural tours. It's a great place to spend a day with family or friends. There are a few shops and boutiques where you can find souvenirs, local crafts, and more. Its family-friendly,  with activities for all ages. It offers a variety of options, from dining to entertainment, there's something for everyone. Most of all, it offers a beautiful setting and the waterfront location provides a picturesque backdrop for photos and relaxation. The downside is that during peak times, the wharf can get quite crowded, which might affect the overall experience and certain areas could benefit from better upkeep, especially in terms of cleanliness and maintenance.

One of my favorite places to be, with so many food choices to eat at, to the beautiful view of the bay. With many activities like boat rides, fishing or just relaxing listening to music. Some of the restaurants you can eat at are spur, mozambik, julios, John dory's, house of curry's. Perfect place to spend the afternoon of a sunny day
Stephanie U — Google review
10/10 for the boat cruise. The food at Spur was delicious. The staff is very friendly. However, the fact that its absolutely filthy is concerning. You can literally take 5 guys, 5 net scoops and plastic bags and they'll have it cleaned within a few hours. There's trash everywhere. Between the boats, in ramps, floating all over the place. This really is sad to see that's there's no respect for the ocean and the wharf. What does management even do? It's a big eye sore and would look beautiful if the bottles and plastic would just be picked up. There were a lot of people from over seas and their remarks alone wasn't great due to the filth scattered about. Please do something about this ASAP.

You have to visit Mozambik restaurant. Excellent service and food. Booked a boat cruise with Isle of Capri but was fairly disappointed. Not meant for family fun as we were delayed by 15 minutes while waiting for liquor loaded party goers who were late. The noise was not nice. Would not use them again if this is what their cruises are like.

Mitchell Park Zoo, located in the Morningside suburb of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, offers a delightful family outing with its diverse collection of animals and rich history. Originally an ostrich farm dating back to 1910, this zoo now houses a variety of small animals from around the world, including giant tortoises, crocodiles, raccoons, wallabies, monkeys and numerous bird species in the walk-through aviary.
I visited this place for the first time and was honestly astonished! It’s so well-maintained and absolutely lovely. I enjoyed seeing all the animals, but I was really on a mission —to make sure the kitties were well-fed! I absolutely love the initiative of the cat feedings. The cats are so well taken care of, and it truly warms my heart to see them getting the love and care they deserve.
Shauneez B — Google review
Small zoos, not many big attractions it's basically like a bird park. There are beautiful peacocks that walk freely around the area and nice small well maintained enclosures. Would recommend for kids who love animals
Kaelin K — Google review
It was Okay . I've been going there from the time I was small , the park has changed alot . I wish there was a restaurant in the Zoo so you can eat in there cause there's no restaurants anywhere else . The park was kind of unkept , flower gardens were good , it was a Quiet day for a Saturday. The entrance fees were really low under R20 per person . Some of the enclosures were empty and there's only bushes. The reptile house was dirty and I think it was closed but there's still spiders in it , hope they are taken care of . Some of the enclosures seem small for the animals. Like so many birds in a small cage . I feel like they need more space . Overall I love the park and will be back
Shweta B — Google review

A good place for family and friends to relax in a clean and well maintained Park. The gardens are beautiful, safety is still reasonable and the animals in the zoo look happy. Great for kids or adults that enjoy abit of nature in the midst of Durban!
Kavir K — Google review
Beautiful upon entrance into the picnic gardens, Zoo is run down and unkempt, overgrown cages filled with weeds, workers were chopping down cycads and flowers , instead of weeding and trimming. Pity there is no more restaurant, but still an enjoyable outing for families
Trudy B — Google review
Beautiful kept gardens and plenty picnic space. Mitchell Park has changed their variety of animals but it's still worth the visit. There are no longer 🐇🐰 bunny rabbits and different species of monkeys and they have added new animals since we were last there. My suggestion for improvement would be to add a light in the dark room so the fishtank with the turtle is visible as the animals in the tanks in the dark room can barely be seen even by shining a cellph light. There were quite a few empty cages. Toilets were clean and staff onsite friendly and polite. All in all a lovely day, will be back ☺️

The most important elements in a Japanese Garden is this: Stone; which symbolizes longevity, the omnipresence of natural forces. Water is the second: As it makes its way through the Garden, the water undergoes a number of changes of pace. It flows along in winding streams or accumulates in the pond. The third is Plants: The choice of plants for a Japanese garden is based on their value or significance throughout the seasons. Each season offers its unique atmosphere.

A great park to have in an ideal location. This park has been around for a long time and is much needed for the surrounding folk and even neighboring communities Sufficient well spaced parking under great shaded trees. The area is a safe place to travel to and easily accessible. The whole that surrounds the park is well kept with high level maintenance. The facilities at the park is in need of some attention, especially the toilet. There can be an addition to the present and also greater upkeep and repairs. The Pick & Pay Hypermarket is close by and provides for an ideal opportunity to shop for all the necessary. Great to see the park still well supported. Also ample play areas for kids and adults. Ezemvelo need to catch a wake up and start maintaining this place. Fence is broken, alien vegetation, litter all over and loads of it. You can't expect the guard on duty to sort this out and sit at the gate and patrol

Why do the toilets by the food court smell so bad, like all the time. Especially with it being so close to food. There's always an issue when exiting, either with the pay station or boom gate. Management needs to do better.

Located southwest of Durban city center, Phansi Museum is a treasure trove of southern African tribal artifacts displayed in the historic Roberts House. The private collection, curated by owner Paul Mikula, showcases an array of contemporary sculptures, beadwork from KwaZulu-Natal, carved statues, and various cultural artifacts.
We visited Phansi museum in January 2025. It’s a beautiful place and provides a wonderful experience for learning more about Zulu and other Southern African tribes cultures. There are lots of artifacts and curious things to look at and touch, but what made Phansi exceptional was our guide! She made the visit real - dancing to some drummers beat, recounting her personal experience of the difficult times when moving from rural life to become a city dweller as a child, and explaining the roles of women. This is a worthwhile visit that will occupy approximately 1 hour of your day in the Berea area of Durban.

Lovely museum with a great curio shop. Make sure to get the guided tour for R100, it is very in-depth and takes about 90 minutes. The guides are local artists in residence and are extremely knowledgeable. Gated free parking available.

We had a very nice hike there. However, they don't have any printed maps to give you at the gate, and the large map is so faded that you can't clearly see the different hikes and lengths of each hike. We went with 2 small children, and although the hike itself was good, we did take a few wrong turns, as it's not clearly marked. The map situation and markers need to be upgraded urgently.

I know it's closing in May 2023 but I can see why. The stench of urine on the walls, the leaking ablutions on the roadside and the vomit on the stairs is enough to chase any possible holiday maker. It's sad that the pools in the front haven't been filled in more than 6 years, probably because they would be used as toilets or laundry facilities. Durban is in a very sad state.

The Durban City Hall stands as a remarkable testament to the city's history, architecture, and cultural significance. Located in the heart of Durban, South Africa, this iconic building has long been a focal point for civic activities, cultural events, and community gatherings. The architecture of the Durban City Hall is an exquisite blend of Renaissance and Baroque styles, with its grand dome and intricate details showcasing the craftsmanship of its time. The building's design reflects the aspirations of a growing city, echoing its historical importance as a center of trade and administration. Inside, the City Hall continues to impress. Its interior spaces are adorned with intricate marble work, ornate staircases, and elegant chandeliers that exude an air of sophistication and grandeur. The main hall has hosted a variety of events over the years, from formal banquets to concerts and exhibitions. The lush and well-maintained garden surrounding the City Hall adds to its charm, offering a serene oasis amidst the urban landscape. The location itself holds historical significance, as it was the site of Mahatma Gandhi's first public speech in South Africa in 1897. One of the standout features of the Durban City Hall is its iconic clock tower, which has become an enduring symbol of the city. The clock tower's chimes and bells have marked the passage of time and punctuated important moments in Durban's history. While the Durban City Hall is celebrated for its architectural beauty, it's also a functional and practical space. It serves as the headquarters for the eThekwini Municipality and houses various government offices, reflecting its ongoing role in civic affairs. In summary, the Durban City Hall is more than just a historic building; it's a living testament to the city's legacy, a cultural landmark, and a space that continues to play a significant role in the life of the community. Its architectural splendor, cultural importance, and role as a gathering place make it a must-visit destination for both locals and visitors interested in Durban's rich history and vibrant present.

A God-given promenade that offers a multitude of activities. From deep-sea boat launch 'pads', off shore fishing, water skiing, kite skiing, walking/running/cycling on the promenade, exercising and body toning workouts... and so much more. We enjoyed an exceptional warm-up and a good brisk walk in the morning. Security has been spruced up and is clearly visible, with regular patrols on bicycles, motor bikes, and 4 x 4 bakkies. A span of culinary outlets for your sunrise breakfasts, midday lunches, and awesome sunset dinners. Your palette cravings from Continental and Cultural cuisines can be found along this East Coast paradise. Durban, where the fun never sets.

A trio of friends walked the length of Durban beachfront recently before dawn, and all 3 were pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness and maintenance evident by our municipality. There was not a single piece of litter or debris. All lights lamppost and route markers working and public restrooms were on and functional- and all grassed areas were manicured. The area in front of UShaka a particular revelation with a cleaner truck in action. The old shop has closed and moved to where the lifeguards are. Much better view even thou they are upstairs. Just be careful as the floor can be slippery. The lay out of the shop is so much better Beautiful place to sit and relax and listen to the waves break. Unfortunately, the day I visited it was a very windy day 😕. Coffee ☕️ was ok, nothing to rave about. It is lovely location during week but can only imagine the crowds and noise from people braaing just behind the shop. It's a stones throw away from the stadium 🏟 as well. Opens very early 05:30 in the morning 🌄 😴. So for all the early birds and the pit stop during your early morning exercise routine.

We drove from Pretoria to Durban to help out with cleanup the beach. The people there were all very friendly and some even joined us for the clean up. The only concern is that there is a sign that says no dogs allowed on the beach but there are many people with dogs on the beach. During the day it a good place for family but after sunset this place transforms to be some kind of a night club. The toilets are not well taken care off. That's something that definately needs improvement.

Whether a solo trip or company it’s still a great way to get a small taste of Durban if you’re a visitor or a local …cruise the beach front/ promenade and harbour if you’re lucky you might even sight a ship cruising in or docked at the terminal , historic buildings with rich history to them even if some are dilapidated , ins and outs of buzzing markets … not everything is rosy , areas of chaos&unpleasant smells but overall not a bad ride Few tips: hot day take a hat &sun block Durban sun don’t care Don’t over over hydrate(it’s a 2-3hr ride with 1 mall stop) The tour guides currently using a speaker box so sound is muffled at times so best you sit in front or at the bottom if your hearing is toned
Deborah W — Google review
A nice way to see some of the sights in Durban. The office on the beachfront should be better sign-posted, and have bold signage on the back of the building too, so it is easily identifiable from all sides. The booking system is not great. You have to queue in advance, hope to get seats and pay in person just before the bus leaves: first come, first served. If you’ve traveled some distance to do this, your trip may be in vain. We managed to get seats at the last minute for the 3pm tour. The website only mentions 2 tours, 9am and 1pm. The tour lasted about 2 hours, with a mall stop, and the Cube view site stop. Sound system better downstairs. Tour guide knowledgeable but speaks fast and difficult to follow. Bus seats not comfortable. I don't know if Durban Tourism will see this but there is lots of room for improvement, especially wrt booking (e.g. online, in advance, correct info on website, etc.)

Our family visited Durban for 7 days. Ricksha tour gave a great tour of the beautiful Durban. It was such a pleasant experience and all the awesome places.
Mbuso S — Google review
We visited the Durban beachfront from Johannesburg on Tuesday, 8 July 2025, with our children and relatives, hoping to treat the kids to the rickshaw bus experience. Unfortunately, what should have been a happy outing turned into a very disappointing experience. We arrived early at the North Beach departure point (near Milky Lane), expecting fair service, but were completely ignored by the staff—both the man with the name board and the one in the office. Neither wore name tags, and despite making ourselves clearly visible and trying to engage, no one acknowledged us. Eventually, both buses filled up, and our kids were left in tears. Worse still was the staff’s attitude. When we tried to ask questions, the man at the board shouted at us aggressively for no reason. In contrast, other customers—specifically Black patrons—were served promptly and respectfully. The difference in treatment felt discriminatory and was extremely upsetting. We expected an inclusive and professional service, but instead experienced poor conduct, no communication, and a sense of exclusion based on appearance. We urge the management to take this seriously. No family should feel invisible or unwelcome, especially in a city as diverse as Durban.
Bilal A — Google review
The Bus itself is great, the people who get on it are questionable and can be very inconsiderate and unsafe (I almost got trampled just getting on). It was a great thorough tour around Durban and the operator was very informative and had good humour. The speaker worked just fine. The pick-up point was in walking distance from the Blue Waters hotel where I stayed. The duration is 4 hours long though so make sure to pack snacks (water and energy drinks to stay hydrated) and be the first in line to get a spot under the roof area because it is BLAZING hot (I went in December) plus there's no aircon so yeah...Thankful for it though, I got to see all the main attractions and different parts of the City which wouldn't have been possible due to my short stay there. It's also super affordable as it's priced at just one hundred rands.

Lovely attraction and so interesting! I would suggest better places to stop but it wasnt bad. We stopped twice . One at city view and morningside.

It was a rainy day in Durban, many of the visitors braved the weather to take the tour of Durban with the Ricksha Tour bus. The cost was reasonable at R100 for almost three hours on the road through Durban. Sights we otherwise would not have seen. The tour guide provided a world class service. The driver was excellent in the rain. The sights was beautiful. The tour is three times the day. Booking can be made at the Durban Tourist Information Centre. Two stops were made to alight the tour bus for a comfort and stretch break. I sure would not mind doing the trip again. I streamed the tour on Tiktok, many of my followers loved it. It is great for young and old. Headsets are provided for listening to the tour guide. Make this your must do, next time in Durban

The extensive menu features a variety of pasta and seafood dishes, all enjoyed while taking in the ever-changing cityscape.
Going to this restaurant was truly a once in a lifetime experience. The decor and ambiance is beautiful & the concept of a revolving restaurant just works. It’s so nice to see the Durban skyline, coastline, city etc throughout the night. The food was to die for. The staff was absolutely amazing, especially the manager, waiters and barman. I highly recommend visiting this establishment.

The Roma Revolving Restaurant hosted us on 28 June 2025 in celebration of my husband’s 50th birthday. It was truly an elegant and memorable dining experience with food that was faultlessly prepared and presented. The hallmark of the evening was certainly the table side preparation of the Chateaubriand and Crepes Suzette, for which Roma is renown, expertly executed by the famous Gino. I last visited Roma in 2014 and now more than 10 years later it remains the Grand Madame of fine dining in Durban. The Roma staff are par excellence adding to the elevated experience.Together with the views offered by this location, these are the ingredients for an exceptional evening out. This grand lady could however do with a refresh to ensure that she doesn’t lose her brilliance. Nonetheless thank you Roma Revolving Restaurant for a wonderful evening.

Beautiful setting with Italian music and a retro vibe with breadsticks and sweet bread served while you wait for the meals to be prepared. Expect to wait for service as this is not a restaurant to visit when you are in a hurry. Appreciate the 360° view of Durban from this revolving restaurant which is one of only 3 in the southern hemisphere. One rotation of the restaurant takes approximately 60 to 90 minutes. Definitely worth a visit.

Last visited Roma about 10 years ago! I am happy to say that the service has improved a lot! Foods were all delicious. And we had an overall great time. A 10% service fee was added to the bill, but it was clearly visible, so that is all right with me.

I was transported to the 70s/80s which was very interesting and fun. For dinner, I had the orange glazed duck which was tasty and something different for me. The muscle starter was also nice. The sponge cake dessert was a bit underwhelming though and overpriced. Overall a nice experience.

Cafe
Nestled in the heart of Durban, Freedom Café is a unique gem that combines the charm of converted shipping containers with modern glass walls, creating an inviting and vibrant atmosphere. This eclectic café and grill boasts a delightful garden where patrons can enjoy their meals amidst nature. The interior design features a mix of brickwork, tiles, and contemporary mirrors that come together to create an unpretentious yet stylish space. Freedom Café prides itself on its commitment to fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced both locally and internationally.
The service is good, the food is out of this world and the tranquil setting is very peaceful. Also very private establishment. Cocktail menu is available and clean toilets. Conference facilities are available as well as rooms at the adjacent Concierge Hotel.

Seeing that today they were hosting a Fashion show, they should have closed business to tend to that. Everything fell short for us as customers. I don't know if the place is under new management or what? but the food was lack luster, stock was a problem so there were many substitutes for a set meal on their Menu. The staff tried their best but i could see that the problem is Managerial. The place still has great potential, they just need to DO BETTER!
Sisanda T — Google review
We had the most delicious platter of traditional Ethiopian dishes including tibs and injera this evening. Talented chef, Mahalet Talahun is the lady behind this awesome food and owner Alazar is an extremely gracious host. Freedom Cafés coffee is, to me, the best in Durban. Very chilled vibe in a hidden gem in Greyville.

Beautiful set up nesting under a massive tree. One feels this closeness with nature as you sip on your morning cappuccino and take a bite of your freshly prepared breakfast. The staff are very friendly and professional. The menu is uniquely put together taking into consideration the modern individual with a need to eat healthier food. Fresh vegetable juices are prepared as you wait. Certainly one of my favourite cafés in Durban. There are high bar chairs inside as well as outside relaxed seating. Ample safe secure parking and a play area for smaller children.

The ambiance is exquisite and everyone is incredibly friendly. Staff are well trained and very hospitalable. We had breakfast here and it was amazing. The place itself is incredibly picturesque and beautiful. Truly a tranquil little gem snuggled in the busy city. 10/10 would recommend.

Went to Freedom Cafe on Sunday, left very underwhelmed. The location was okay, we sat at the outside seating at the back since the front was busy. Our waiter was a pleasant guy, he visited the table often but never stayed long enough to get everything we wanted so we found ourselves calling on him often. Our food left alot to be desired. . . I was not a fan of the Macon in the Omelette, odd flavour and very fatty. **The bathrooms need a little refresh. I would go for a drink in the front area, however they wouldn't be on the top of my list of places to go agian.

I was in Durban on Vacation, we made a turn to Freedom Cafe for breakfast, we ended up sitting there the whole day, iv never set at a restaurant for more than 8 hours.... we had to cancel all our plans scheduled for that day, we were so comfortable, it's such a private and beautiful space... the deco inside and out, modern yet vintage style... I LOVE IT.! The hospitality, the respect from the staff, it's out of this world... uMadlamini served us from morning until evening never got tired of our demands, with her beautiful personality and smile . I will highly recommend this place to everyone I know that would be visiting Durban. Thank you so much for making my day such a beautiful experience. I was there on the 3 Nov 20019.
Siphiwe M — Google review
TL;DR - Not going back. I have been wanting to eat at Freedom Cafe for sometime now and I must say that it was very disappointing. They did not have avocado, mushroom and orange juice available - that cuts out a lot of breakfast options. The waiter then suggested a fruit blend juice which tasted like syrup diluted in water (we wanted fresh juice; as it appeared on the menu). We also ordered an iced coffee which was pathetic. After sitting outside for a while we asked to move indoors as the seats were dirty and it was a windy day. It was a blistering, humid day of 34 degrees and the air-con was not working. At this point we were concerned about the quality of the food. Luckily the food was decent. This along with the service provided by the waiter has resulted in a 2-star rating. If not for these two things I would not have given any (if that was possible).

Located on the lively Florida Road, House of Curries is a popular spot offering a variety of shareable dishes that pair perfectly with a cold beer. The menu features an array of curries including mini bunny chows filled with chicken, beef, lamb, and beans. In addition to traditional Indian fare like mutton curry and breyani, they also serve chip-and-cheese rotis and chip chow – curry-topped French fries smothered in melted cheese.
Princess was our server. She was fantastic. I ordered the large Roti roll with lamb which totally hit spot. Hubby had the lamb breyani and he said it was good. It came with salads and pickle.

Wonderful, amazing. The place is spacious, if you want bar area, quiet area, etc, there's enough room. The food portions are very filling, I couldn't finish my breyani. Tasty food 😋
Farai P — Google review
I had high hopes for authentic Indian food, but this was the worst experience I've had in Durban during my 3-day stay. I ordered the chicken roti for R140, and it was a complete letdown — tasteless, dry, and the roti was so hard it felt inedible. I was starving, but after one bite, I lost all appetite. The staff were friendly and helpful, which I appreciate, but the food was shockingly bad. I genuinely felt sick after trying it. Sadly, I won’t be returning.

From the time I visited a couple of years ago, the place has deteriorated quite substantially. Toilets too are not clean and smell and are in need of a serious upgrade. Too loud music. A definite avoid

They serve a great variety of delicious HOT food. Great atmosphere. It seems like the popular choice to sit outside on the deck in the summer time. If there isn't any space, there is an indoor area. If you're fussy about service, then it may be a let down. Quite a lot of flies around as well. We were promised a candle which never came. Otherwise, fantastic place for the foodies 👌🏼
Makhanani S — Google review
Had dinner here 2 nights in succession. The place was quiet as it was midweek. Service was a bit slow but I got served. As a newcomer to this establishment, you need to go to the doors to the left of the bar to order take away or sit down and a waitron will eventually find you. Foodwise, I had a bunny on both days. Day 1 was a boneless lamb bunny which was excellent. I didn't enjoy the complimentary veg pickles. I felt that the spices were a little raw. Day 2 was a prawn bunny. I found it to not be as good as the lamb and should I go back, I definitely won't order this. I also found the spices to be non-complimentary for this dish.
Craven N — Google review
The curries are always top notch. Try out the roti. We especially enjoy the chip and cheese with lamb curry sauce, and extra sauce on the side. It is huge, though to fill two people, or one supersized hungry rugby player! The bar is a nice touch for evenings or a drink while you wait if you're getting takeaway.

The Port Natal Maritime Museum, located near Durban Harbour, offers a fascinating look into the maritime history of the area. The museum showcases exhibits related to early exploration, local maritime significance, and the city's role as a vital trading hub. Visitors can explore stories of sea voyages, shipwrecks, navigational tools, and seafaring traditions. Additionally, the museum features former steam tugs and displays a wicker basket used for hoisting passengers onto ocean liners.
This is a hidden gem - 10 bucks adult & 5 bucks kids entrance fee is next to nothing for the opportunity to get some history on ships & sailing. My kid loved exploring the tug on stilts, as well as boarding the tug moored at the museum... Fun day out.
Ivan N — Google review
Worth a visit - at least once. A great chance to give kids a chance to explore a boat (and a helicopter on the side). It is slightly rundown, but it's a quick and cheap visit. Interesting war exhibits as well.
Siobhan E — Google review
The Port Natal Maritime Museum is a charming and somewhat hidden gem nestled along Durban's busy harbourfront. It's not your typical slick, high-tech museum—but that's part of its appeal. It's an old-school museum where you actually get to walk through historical ships—including a tugboat and a naval minesweeper. Entry is super affordable (about R10 for adults), and it’s surprisingly fun, especially if you're with kids or enjoy naval history. The exhibits show their age, and the facilities are basic (portable toilets, no café), but the hands-on experience makes up for it. Overall, it's a great way to spend an hour or two, right on the harbour. 👍 Pros: You can climb aboard actual ships! Great for kids Budget-friendly Harbour views Would definitely recommend if you’re into ships, history, or just looking for something unusual to do in Durban.
Rabia I — Google review
You can only go onto one boat now. And half the one you can go onto is closed off or falling apart. This used to be an awesome museum, now you are wasting your time going here. Staff here don't want to help you, sitting half asleep with bare feet up on chairs.

It was a nice visit, it was nice to be able to go onto the boat and explore. The boat and surroundings makes for some nice pictures. It is a small museum, but worth the visit ,with a very low entry fee off around R10 per person.

The place feels more like a maritime graveyard than a museum. The exhibits are worn out and the place feels like it is falling apart. I would gladly pay more to enter if it means the place will be properly maintained.

The centre is located in the heart of Durban, South Africa and is hard to miss with its decorated trees at the front. Artists sell a wide variety of art and crafts, including traditional artifacts such as pottery, woodcarvings, metalwork, and textiles. Thanks to this centre many talented artists have received international acclaim for their work.

So if you are looking for that perfect, uniquely African gift for anyone and you haven't been down to the uShaka World Village Walk retail area - you should do yourself a favour and head down there. You will find a relaxed retail atmosphere with an assortment of shops - with flip flops fitting right in on this walk! I discovered a true little gem of Durban along the route - The African Art Centre. It is a fitting example of a truly spectacular collection of Local Artists' work - on display for sale. The old nik-naks found on the Durban beachfronts - aimed at the tourists which frequent Durban in the School Holidays, have no place in this art & craft gallery. Instead, there are intricately carved and brandished wooden African animal characters such as Peacocks, Owls & Rhinos - each with their own unique touches - with no two pieces being alike. You will also find brightly coloured intricate beadwork, fantastically complex basket weaving and exquisite jewellery in the form of beaded necklaces and bangles - displaying a rich tapestry of vibrant colours and geometric patterns. Not only are you supporting an indigenous 'cultural experience' which gives struggling artists a backbone for survival, but you will be warmed by the distinctively African feel of your affordable purchase. There is a larger selection of arts & crafts available at the headquarters - the Phansi Museum, situated at 500 Esther Roberts Road in Glenwood. A definite two thumbs up for adding to quality Durban Tourism!! Local is Lekker.

Been a customer of the AAC for many years. They have a wonderful selection of South Africa craft works primarily from the Durban and KZN area. They are a small non profit organization that provides support to numerous artists. They have the largest selection of handmade wooden animals where the colors and expressions are burnt into the wood. Huge selection of jewelry and holiday ornaments. They also have one of the best selections of telephone wire work in South Africa. Prices are less than you will find at most places in Durban and elsewhere in South Africa. Definitely worth checking the AAC out. It is a quick Uber or Taxi ride from downtown and elsewhere in the Durban area.

The Kings Park Stadium, established in 1891, has undergone multiple renovations to become one of South Africa's impressive arenas. The security and staff exhibited excellent organization and were amicable during the Sharks vs French Bordeaux rugby match. Although the food options were limited and exorbitantly priced, the beverages were reasonably affordable. The seating arrangement in the Silver area was characterized by steep steps and a lack of legroom, causing inconveniences as people had to maneuver through rows to reach their seats.
A beautiful track and field event venue. An underutilized place, but exudes the potentiality of being an international sports venue to further enhance the City's stature in terms of tourism and sporting events. We enjoyed the venue as part of our training towards the Provincial Golden Games (for seniors)

A great day out at Hollywood Kings Park Stadium We went to watch a recent Currie Cup game with the Sharks, and then watch the Boks vs Argentina and as always, it was such a brilliant experience. No matter how old you get, the excitement of seeing Sharkie never fades, the children still adore him, and even us adults couldn’t resist having a fun family photo together. It’s all part of the magic that makes a Sharks game feel like home. Tickets were very affordable and easy to get, even at the last minute, which is perfect for those spontaneous match-day plans. The atmosphere was electric, with friendly faces everywhere, as KZN truly has some of the warmest people in South Africa. If there’s one small downside, it’s that the stadium bar offers a very limited selection of alcoholic drinks, mostly Black Crown, Flying Fish, a single Brutal Fruit flavour, Castle beers, or the usual high-sugar Coca-Cola beverages. Water is, of course, always available if you prefer something lighter. After the game, if you’re still in the mood to celebrate, Kingstons, the club right at the stadium, is a great spot for a drink and a dance. You can even enjoy watching the action from the outdoor section of the club if you prefer a more relaxed atmosphere. Families with young children will love that there’s a small pool and slide to keep them entertained, especially now that summer is approaching. The massive screens all around the stadium mean you won’t miss a moment of the match, no matter where you sit. All in all, it remains the best stadium in South Africa, full of heart, energy and true Durban hospitality. 🦈💙

Loved this.little gem of a place. The waitress was very friendly and accommodating. They didn't have a certain veggies for a meal I ordered so I suggested they tailor it ro what was on hand...meal turned out absolutely scrumptious...was the cous cous salad..loved it will definitely go back . The art was intriguing and I enjoyed the set up and different styles of creativity...an art lovers paradise. I recommend it as a laid-back place where education meets fun on a beautiful level. The space is brilliant for art exhibitors. The gallery is small wil some fine pieces. There is plenty of seating space for patrons and even a stage area. On the other hand the Cafe is average at most. The food is freshly prepared, but the portions and are miserly plated. Don't let the sent of coffee brewing fool you, the coffee is substandard. Visit to support the art movement and a quick nibble.

KZNSA (KwaZulu-Natal Society of Arts) blends crisp, subtropical modernism with a relaxed, community feel. The street face is pared back—whitewashed brick, slim steel frames, big glass—and along the garden edge deep louvered screens and a light canopy cast patterned shade, creating that easy inside–outside flow. Inside, the tall white-cube gallery is calm and flexible; the shop stacks up like a creative loft with a steel mezzanine; and the café runs through a long, high space with stepped brick flooring and beautiful, filtered daylight. I went specifically to get some work done and it delivered. The Wi-Fi was solid and there were plenty of people on laptops, which gave the place a focused, productive energy. The outdoor terrace is shaded and easy-going—perfect for catching up with friends between tasks. I had a light meal (pretty good) and the chocolate cake was excellent. Service was friendly and attentive; the waiters were great. Verdict: As a café/art centre combo, it’s welcoming, unpretentious, and well designed—good shade, good air, good sightlines. I’m giving it 3/5 for now, not as a knock on the venue, but because I haven’t sampled enough of the menu to make a full five-star call yet. I’ll update after a few more visits.

The ambience and venue  are perfect for unwinding, taking in the beautiful scenery of Durban's coastline, and enjoying excellent food and drinks with your favorite people. It's a delightful experience that combines great cuisine with a breathtaking view. Service was amazing with our waiter being extremely professional, and knew how to keep his Guests happy. Our meals were plated beautifully and was freshly prepared. The grilled vegetables were deliciously prepared with a slight crisp. The Creme brulee was made to absolute perfection 👌 Highly recommended

A good location but lack of shops and restaurants available. Many of the places are members only areas. It would be nice if they had a coffee shop for just some snacks. Security was quite tight which is good, but they should make the process a bit faster if you're coming to just the restaurant. Otherwise, it was quite impressive.

Food and ambience was excellent. Great variety and also the service was very pleasant. The sushi is very well presented and delicious as well. Only criticism is the sushi portions are smaller but nevertheless very tasty. Very good venue for birthday or baby shower events.

I owe a great deal to this course having been a member during my school & varsity days as well as working in the Pro Shop for a number of years and it is awesome to experience how well the course is looking and playing. The staff were extremely friendly & helpful adding to an exceptional day. Wishing Country Club all the best with renovation and can’t wait to be back in the future.

Had a great yesterday, amazing, friendly staff, ❤️hosted us perfectly we had a family dinner and a surprise 60th birthday, even thou the kitchen was closing, they made an exception for us since others had not yet arrived to join us and closed after everyone on the table was sorted , customer service at its very best 👌giving it a thumbs up 👍👍💯

One of the best courses I have played this year. Smooth, fast greens, perfect layouts, challenging par 3's and great views all around with the sea and Moses Mabhida insight. Was truly a great day. Great facilities, locker room, change room, showers and even a pool for club members only. Looking forward to my next round at Durban Country Club

The Blue Lagoon Beach in Reykjavik is a popular tourist attraction with its stunning turquoise waters and calm atmosphere. It's a great place to relax and enjoy the view, especially after a hard day of exploring the city. The beach has plenty of amenities including playgrounds, food stalls, and sand to play on. It's also close enough to the city that you can easily walk there.
Ideal area for picnics and family gatherings. Great for a group of friends to have a braai. There is toilet facilities and a cage in site also. Good security.

Nice place to take your family and relax while enjoying the beautiful view. I personally really enjoy fishing here especially under the bridge it's a good fishing spot.
Alisha S — Google review
The beach has a small promenade that you can sit and birds, the waves and just relax. There are vendors selling food, savoury and different drinks that are made fresh. Our favourite were the bajias and Veda’s. We also have enjoyed the great sugar cane juice and boiled mielies. Kids can play on the grass. Litter seems to be a problem, where some people don’t put the dirt in bins provided. You can also have a Braai.
Fiona M — Google review
If you into the afternoon drives, taking a stroll on the pier and indulging in things like fried mealies, fried sweetcorn, sugarcane juices, and so much more then this is for you. You can even spend the whole day at the area and have a braai or picnic. It's perfect for a family can you can even take your dogs for a walk here. It's mainly for the weekends has thats when the stalls are opened

"Canoeing in breathtaking Blue Lagoon spots today! 🌊💚 Paddling through turquoise waters, surrounded by nature's masterpiece. Imagine gliding past sea caves, spotting marine life like turtles 🐢, and soaking in sunset hues 🧡. Whether it's Malta's Gozo, French Polynesia's Raiatea, or Durban's Blue Lagoon in South Africa 🏞️, these spots are pure magic for canoeing adventures! #BlueLagoon #Canoeing #WaterAdventures #NatureEscape"
Mabutho M — Google review
The weather was perfect that day and it was great to see the river flowing freely. Unfortunately, the later in the day you go down there the more you'll deal with taxis packed to the brim with passengers - music blaring, which spoils the ambience of the relaxing spot. But choose your time and it's perfect. Good food.
Jackie M — Google review
Nothing there just beach and pools for kids
Lesiba N — Google review
It's very disappointing. Beach isn't clean , and it needs a very big clean. The grass island is also dirty. There is so much potential at this Beach. Expect random to come up to asking for money for their shelter, generally just for money and cigarettes if they see you smoking. No fishermen in site, used to normal to see people fishing. Could smell a little bit of sewage from the sea, not as bad as before, thou.

Experience the enchanting Zulumoon Gondolas Boat Rides at Durban Point Waterfront, offering a unique perspective of the city as you glide through the tranquil canals. Whether it's a romantic evening under the night sky or a daytime adventure, these gondola rides promise serenity and breathtaking views. With gondolas accommodating up to four passengers, you can enjoy a leisurely ride or opt for romantic add-ons like a floating message in a bottle.
1. We went on a canal cruise (my partner and I) - Highly recommended to board it alone if you are a couple 2. The driver was super friendly and awesome. He captured spectacular shots of us and made us drive the boat. 3. The cruise is super affordable for 30mins. It's just R120pp. 4. Money well spent in a while!
Mishkaah R — Google review
Don’t bother with buying tickets or pre-booking ahead of time, we got there and waited. This cause so much confusion. It’s a cute canal cruise. The gondola is comfortable and can fit 4 people. It’s a cute activity that you can squeeze in your itinerary.
Nyelex — Google review
Would most definitely recommend this place, can't go to Durban and go back without coming here. Loved the view at night, now cannot wait to come again for daily rides. Can include a picture option, or they'll gladly take you pictures with your cellphone free of charge.
Jafta M — Google review
Quite an interesting experience for 15 minutes. You have the option of: - take the boat whilst being chauffeured (nice for people who want to get pictures -Rome/paris lookalike) - drive yourself: for people who like some kayaking - yatch like ride ( we met some people so decided to do an all white party) 🎊 If you can’t go to the islands, you can bring the island to yourself 😃😃
Adams M — Google review
This was the best experience and the staff at Zulumoon made our engagement unforgettable. The service is professional and the staff go out of their way for their customers. I recommend Gondolas with a 5 star rating. Do yourself a favour and look at our photos, it testifies of their professionalism. We will never forget the experience. Thank you Zulumoon!

Great Gondola ride. The Gondolas have nice comfy seats and the views at Durban point are really nice. A tad expensive for R60 per person for 20 minutes but if you do have the money it's a tranquil ride.

Nature preserve
Virginia Bush Nature Reserve, located in Durban North, offers a peaceful escape from the bustling city life. This 38-hectare reserve is perfect for activities like trail running, hiking, and bird-watching. The trails are dog-friendly and provide an opportunity to spot wildlife such as blue duikers and mongoose. With winding paths through coastal scrub filled with native flora, it's a popular spot for birdwatching.
Short and Easy walk, however there are certain areas that can be challenging, depending on your fitness level. I wouldn’t recommend for the elderly with knee problems etc. Very tranquil and the air smells fresh.
Fatima A — Google review
Lovely quiet place to enjoy nature in the area. There is enough variation in the terrain to get something that everyone likes. Lots of rest spots along the various routes. Some routes need better maintenance but otherwise a lovely spot overall and staff is very friendly and helpful. Tip: It's better to wear long bottoms. Bring your own water as there will be none along the routes. Monkeys are common so don't recommend bringing open food with you.
Lile T — Google review
Approximately 3-5km undemanding hike covered mostly by tree canopies. Tranquil sounds and pleasant smells almost makes one forget about the bustling surroundings, making this trail an ideal escape for the inner city dweller. Unsupervised limited parking outside, however public facilities are available along with a small picnic area.
Anton W — Google review
It's a fairly simple, easy trail, with a bit of hill climbing not too hectic.
Alwira K — Google review
Clean and safe. Lovely walk about 2km
N K — Google review
Virginia bush nature reserve is small enough to easily walk around, with very clear paths, but big enough to escape the sounds of the city. On some paths you might hear the odd car or suburban noise (dogs from the neighbouring properties mostly). Great bird life. You see the odd duiker too. I spent around two hours in the reserve today and I think I only saw one other person there.
Jody S — Google review
Quiet only birds and frogs sounds but not scary at all. Even the animals that are there stay off the trails coz you hear the sounds but never get closer to them
Sam M — Google review
Enjoyed my time here. It was a bit quiet at that time of the morning,so advisable to go as a group when going. It's not clearly marked so you just walk and follow the trail.

THE PORTION WAS NOT WORTH MY MONEY AT ALL... HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED....AND THERES NO CONTACT DETAILS FOR THIS STORE..ONLY A WHATSAPP NUMBER BUT GOES STRAIGHT TO VOICEMAIL...

Ordered via Uber Eats. Order took an hour to arrive and was lukewarm. The chips and chicken pops were fried in old oil - tasted horrible and slightly burned. Items are always missing on my order; this time it was the coleslaw. The sarmie had almost no sauce - if u hadn't ordered sauce the side for my chips and pops it would have been too dry to eat. Disappointed. Won't waste my money at this Afros again.
Megan V — Google review
I ordered 2x crispy burger and chip meals, only to find out they grabbed a packet of round rolls from the engen they're situated at to use as buns. I found this out when I arrived home upon deeper inspection, my bun wasn't even toasted and the chips were terrible, was a sad meal. When I phoned in, they said they couldn't arrange with the supplier but in my eyes it's not good enough, the cashier could've let us know prior to ordering and we would've changed our order in hopes of a better meal. I guess we'll lower the standards just to get the food out! Afros needs to get ahold of this chain, reading other reviews, bringing down the name.
Thomas L — Google review
I ordered full meals and items were missing, I did not receive fries and drinks on our meals. Chicken was half cooked, pink inside. I'm so disappointed 😞
Angel N — Google review
We ordered our food on Uber Eats at 18h15, the estimated time of delivery kept delaying and by 19h30, when the food still hadn't arrived, I called the Afro's Kenfield store to find out what the delay was and they said that they had run out of gas but, managed to sort it out and the food was leaving the store. We live less than 10 minutes away but, the food only arrived at 19h55. The meals were like half-portions, a handful of strips and tjips in each box and the full chicken was under-cooked (pics attached). I am VERY disappointed with the poor service and quality of your food, which is sad as I have been been a customer since your early days by the container that used to be on the beachfront.
Faeeza F — Google review
Ordered through uber eats and it was horrible. Order came with sauce dripping from the packet, chicken and chips were under done. There were about 15 chips and a tablespoon of coleslaw. We will never order from Afros again.

0/5 – Complete waste of time The 1000 Hills Information Centre is a total ghost town. Not a single person was there to assist. It felt abandoned, like no one had been around for ages. Definitely not what you’d expect from an “information” centre — absolutely nothing useful or welcoming about it. Don’t bother stopping here.

We rolled the windows down and took it slow, pulling over whenever a viewpoint popped up. It’s layer after layer of hills, the kind that make your phone photos look flat no matter how many you take. We just leaned on the railing, passed the chips around, and watched the light slide across the valleys. There’s a laid-back, small-town feel, kids waving, a few roadside stalls, a whiff of braai smoke now and then. We grabbed cold drinks, sat for a bit, and didn’t feel any need to rush. Simple drive, big views, mood reset.
