Located at Matheu 1851, Centro Cultural Villa Victoria Ocampo was once the residence of renowned writer Victoria Ocampo. In the 1920s and 1930s, it served as a gathering place for artists and intellectuals such as Jorge Luis Borges, Gabriela Mistral, Rabindranath Tagore, Adolfo Bioy Casares, and Igor Stravinsky.
Nice quiet place, away from city noise. I couldn't go inside because it was a holiday. But I took a walk in the garden. Nearby there is a cafe where you can eat. I liked this place, it's a great place to work with a laptop or read a book.

This historical house of the writer Victoria Ocampo was disappointed for me.Didnt have good maintenance, Almost not Family furnitures. They should charge 3 or more dollars and have it in better condition,or have a shop with merchandising to collect the money necessary!!!!

Restaurant
In Mar del Plata, the Torreón del Monje stands as an iconic architectural gem with its red turrets and medieval design, offering stunning views of the ocean. This complex also features a restaurant that has been updated to modern times. Nearby attractions include the Stella Maris Church, Torre Tanque water tower, and Mar del Plata Aquarium where visitors can encounter dolphins, penguins, sea lions, and tropical birds.
Excellent place to come have a light bite, coffee was decent and orange juice was fresh and large
Martin F — Google review
Merienda: late afternoon tea time with friends. The location is really nice as it is right next to the ocean. You have seatings inside or outside, but it could get a bit chilly when the Sun is not out. Probably much warmer in the Summer which is a few weeks away… We ordered a latte, 2 hot chocolate (submarino which is way better than the regular hot chocolate made with powder!), an apple crumble, a medialuna and 2 medialunas with ham and cheese. My favorite is definitely the “submarino” which you should try while in town. The service was standard, however the downside of this place is the acoustics… not over crowded, but real noisy! Not very pleasant to have to raise your voice to chat with your friends or family. If you take a walk along the beach and need a quick stop then it is ok, but I would not plan to stay and enjoy the view because of the noise level…
Bernard T — Google review
Super tasty fish and honestly the best calamari rings I’ve had. It is a bit pricey, especially since they don’t give you bread or any starters, but the cover charge is included. Still worth going.
Alena B — Google review
Excellent place for a merienda, with plenty of options and delicious food and coffee. The service was quick and efficient, and the place is quiet, fresh and has great views. Highly recommended in Mar del Plata.
Santiago A — Google review
Overprice for the view. Food is bad. Bread is hard. Burger medallion is dry. Pasta is old. Tables are dirty, a waiter is slow.
Egor K — Google review
Lovely setting. Food of high quality. Great service!
Sonette S — Google review
The service is impeccable. Great atmosphere with a beautiful view. The food, however, was average. Steak was bland, and still raw and hard to cut. I suggest they also serve the bread hot. The sauces were good. The prices are expensive even for foreigners.

Although the place is tired looking, the staff is friendly and seeing the birds and fish was relaxing. Loved the sea lions - full of personality! Enjoyable for any age group!
Bonnie K — Google review
So sad for them, this was probably once a great place to visit, but now there are hardly any animals. I'd give this a miss.
Deana E — Google review
Very expensive and many of the exhibits were closed. We weren't allowed on the beach where our children wanted to play in the rock pools but weren't allowed. The shark section which had been heavily advertised was closed. Half of the aquariums were empty. The outside children's play area was a plastic, broken slide. The dolphin show however was very good. We complained and asked to write in the complaints book. They then provided us with a free lunch which began to make up for it but when you're paying such high prices for entry you expect more.

Art museum
The Provincial Museum of Contemporary Art MAR, also known as the MAR Museum, is a striking modern museum located on the waterfront promenade in the north of the city. The building itself is a modern standout with a large sea lion sculpture covered in wrappers of famous local alfajores. Inside, visitors can explore temporary works by local, national, and international artists. This museum offers tours and has a cafe for visitors to enjoy.
The MAR is a huge space, open, airy, and filled with plenty of room to let your mind wander. The exhibitions are beautifully framed, and the contemporary art on display is truly captivating. One piece that really caught my attention was a video about creating new organs, a thought provoking work that explores how far humans can go in manipulating animals for our own benefit, often without considering their souls. It was unsettling but fascinating at the same time. The only real downside was the condition of the bathrooms, they were dirty and had an unpleasant smell. Still, aside from that, visiting the MAR is a great experience, especially on a rainy Saturday when you’re looking for something inspiring to do in Mar del Plata.
Jose G — Google review
Good place, free entrance. But the contemporary art could be different, and in this museum I felt it was like meh… If you can mess around with things and pit them in a museum, it’s not enough to name it art. But the museum itself is good. If you have some time in Mar Del Plata, that’s a go-to place.
Artem — Google review
Great exhibition at MAR in Mar del Plata. Nice building, good atmosphere. Amazing "MONDONGO" art display.

You must go, it's an amazing museam. It looks bigger from the outside but the few expositions are amazing. Very modern infrastructure, it worth it.
Valentina V — Google review
A good hide out place. No English though. Far from downtown. Very petite place with 3 rooms (the 4th is closed) of less than 30 items to see. Not crowded. Very commercial with little to no Argentina theme.
Jon H — Google review
Nice and marvelous place to see and appreciate exposures from many artists
Fede M — Google review
This is small but cool museum. It has a lot of multimedia as well as some more traditional art pieces. Very family friendly and right across the street from the ocean, which makes it a unique experience. Not a destination in itself, but definitely one of the things to do while in Mar del Plata

With three branches across the city, including one right on the coast, it's a traditional stop for visitors to the 'Happy City.' The restaurant offers delicious seafood dishes and large dessert portions perfect for sharing with family and friends. While outdoor seating can be busy, the stunning views make it worth planning ahead.
A place to stop by when visiting the beach 🏖️. Its the iconic place in Mar del Plata and the food is always good but make sure to order it with less or no salt cuz otherwise you'll definitely experience what a sea water taste like. Best place to go with family and friends to enjoy the view while eating the best sea food.

I have the best memories of Manolo since I came to Mar del Plata with my wife on our honeymoon in 2005. Manolo offered us a simple but delicious dish, a choripan. We look forward to returning soon and enjoying their famous churros.

We liked the pizza and the churros are fresh and delicious! But the calzones are actually just pies and not very good, and the cappuccino and coffee was terrible.

CASA SOBRE EL ARROYO Museo Casa del Puente, also known as the Bridge House, was created by architect Amancio Williams for his father, musician Alberto Williams. The house has faced challenges such as overgrowth and fire damage but is now maintained by the government. Despite its history of destruction, it remains an intriguing destination for architecture enthusiasts.
Excellent. Worth a visit. Needs booking.

Amazing piece of modern architecture! It's so sad to see the government or other investors are not seriously financing a retauration to its full potential. It looks like an aftermath of a bomb detonated inside. You can still sense the perfect proportions and detail aims from the original design. We were able to have a short conversation with the university department encharged of protecting the project, they have the intellectual forces but like I said, they need some serious investments. They were kind enough to teach us a bit from the history of the residence in connection to its author, Amancio Williams.

It’s a great architectural project and amazing renovation work has been done. The house was destroyed by fire but they reconstructed it and now it looks fantastic! We enjoyed this free tour and visiting all the rooms of the house. What can be improved: would be nice to give an education language course for guides to provide an English tour. It will improve their language skills, set new KPI for workers, attract more visitors from abroad. Amancio Williams was a brilliant architect and he deserves to be known not only by Argentinians and Spanish people, but worldwide.

Puerto de Mar del Plata is a vibrant hub of activity, where the salty sea air mingles with the tantalizing aroma of fresh seafood. This bustling port, located just 8 kilometers south of the city center, is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience Argentina's rich maritime culture. As you stroll along the docks, you'll be captivated by the sight of colorful fishing boats and may even catch a glimpse of playful sea lions scavenging for scraps.
It is always beautiful, doesn't matter the season. You can see the fishermen working and the sealions having the time of their lives! There's also a street mall where you can buy souvenirs and support local vendors. Nearby there is a commercial center with different restaurants all owned by local familiels

Not the most beautiful dock I have ever been to, but still pretty nice. Located in the south part of mar del plata it can be reached by many public buses or walked along. Many old ships and history, boat trips, stores and especially the sea wolves are its main attractions. Be aware of the nasty smell though, especially on windy days!
Trachemysta — Google review
It is a good place, quiet, with enough people if you go in high season. You must be able to withstand the smell of sea lion, it is quite strong. There are also small shops where you can sit down to eat or buy to go, they sell a lot of fish, all kinds, and other aquatic animals. If you don't like fish, there are also foods without it in the different places of fast food.

Carla O — Google review
Nice shopping with most Argentinean known fashion brands. Crowded in general especially the food Court
Sergio R — Google review
The shopping was constructed as part of a restoration project on an old bus station. The idea was to use the historic building as a "cultural center" and rise the shopping structure beside, leaving a public open square in the middle. The end result is not quite satisfactory: there are a lot of concrete floors, almost no gardens, and due to the glass structures, children can't play here. The shopping floor is nice and clever, with a street running underneath, the access is a bit confusing at first, with no indication about the stairs or the restrooms, and overall the place still feels rushed. Brand selection is good and has high standards, and the interior deck floor is a nice place for a coffee. Prices are moderated to high, but discounts are frequent.

Antares is a well known and rightfully popular brewery in Argentina. It's one of those places that always provides a nice experience. It's the perfect place to hang out with your friends if you want to get some drinks or even if you want to get some food. The atmosphere is very nice and they have a lot of good music in the background. There are enough seats but it's very popular so it's often very busy. The staff is wonderful and the service is very quick. They got enough hands on deck to make sure that you're never too long without any drinks and are always ready to assist when needed.

Impressive neo-Gothic architecture: a bell tower with a Westminster-style clock, a narthex, a rose window, and buttresses enhance the ensemble. – Interior carefully designed down to the smallest detail: a marble high altar with bronze and blue enamel, pointed arches, and a mural evoking the sea, added in 1940. Image of the Virgin Stella Maris, sculpted in marble in Paris by H. Weigel (a disciple of Rodin), with a pedestal simulating waves, a rock crystal crown, and a halo of stars. Inaugurated between 1910 and 1912 by the local community with a contribution from the Argentine Navy, it was the first church in the country to dedicate the worship of the Virgin Stella Maris, patron saint of fishermen and sailors. Tranquility and serenity prevail. The stained-glass windows filter the light, creating a contemplative atmosphere ideal for reflection or moments of connection. Spiritual. Visitors highlight the “peace,” “positive energy,” and a “special effect” around the altar. Simply beautiful. (Translated by Google) Angkor is the restaurant that operates in the Normandy village. The property is wonderful and the restaurant operates in what was the service area of the house. The venture was carefully integrated without affecting the historical heritage (they respected the original economical kitchen and bacha despite its obsolescence). However, plotted decorative illustrations referring to the family that built the villa are not very adequate in my opinion. As for service, the staff is very friendly and willing, the menu is small but with diverse options and the wine list is extensive. They offer two dinner seatings per night. The common denominator is Kamado grill type cooking, which gives a particular and interesting flavor to the proposals. A complimentary appetizer (Campari tonic) and a Zuccardi olive tasting plus a tomato gazpacho were a great reception. The starter of grilled prawns and taboule was really very tasty and balanced. The main ones that I tried with some questions that I will detail. The roasted provoleta with vegetables was good, but with some shortcomings: being the subject of the main dish, the provoleta was scarce and the temperature when it arrived at the table did not allow us to enjoy its specific characteristics, it was somewhat hardened. The stuffed portobelo was exquisite but also scarce, the cauliflower and the pepper (abundant these ones) in different points which could be considered a search for different textures but not achieved in my opinion. I mark the scarce thing with respect to the fact that it is a main one. The other dish was a Grouper with mussels. The fish was somewhat stale and (oh! Fatal detail in dishes of this type) with bones. Delicious mussels. But in general the dressing did not work, the Grouper meat was somewhat dry without enhancement. Angkor is not an economical option, so the demand is higher. It's worth the experience, maybe it was a not entirely lucky night for me and nothing more. The topic of kamado roasting left me wanting to experiment with red meat. It will be the next one.

Very good! The harbour is not a nice place to go walling around BUT this restaurant is a special one. Good fish menus, great garlic shrimps and excellent seafood risotto. Winecard is ok, top service and even soccer tv available. Price normal. Was crowded at lunch time. Very recommended.

A lovely square and park in Mar del Plata that sees liveliness throughout the day and even night. The park is filled with benches and walkways so people can either rest or have a long stroll through the park. The vibe is pretty nice and I spent a few hours just enjoying the weather. The park is full of people with dogs, people just passing through, having a few drinks and just hanging out with each other. I felt very safe by myself and had no problem at all.

It is a pleasant area to walk your dog or just sitting to enjoy the Sun or being outdoor. It is right across from the Grand Casino and right on the other side you can walk along the beaches which span over several kilometers. We are here for the second time and we enjoy it as much as the first time. Although it could be a bit noisy since there are a lot of visitors, and many are coming from all over Argentina as well as foreigners coming in the Summertime. There is also a merry go around for kids at one of the corners of the Plaza.

It would be five stars if they respected the laws. They don't respect the change law number 22.802, I went with a $99,04 ticket to be changed and according to the updated law they have to give me $100 but they even have a sign saying they don't give less than $100 bills, this IS illigal. Besides on the roulette the mininum is $10 ARS when it's less in other casinos. The place is marvelous as you can see in the pictures and becose of covid they let you go to the balcony with a view to the sea. But to resume they want to screw you even more than other casinos in Bs.As.

Nice casino with some quirks. There are pigeons inside, cruising the bar area. And the women's bathrooms are a disgrace for such a nice casino.
Laura A — Google review
Stay away. Been to casinos in many cities around the world, appreciate a game (black jack or poker) for the entertainment, not necessarily driven by win or loss. The Central Casino in Mar del Plata doesn't offer a nice athmosphere, it is rather seedy and employees do not seem to enjoy their work or treat guests with respect. To top it up, the casino blatantly stole 1.500 pesos of chips from my colleague. When asked for the camera/footage, they refused and did not entertain further conversation.

A fantastic tour and wine tasting (obviously delicious wine). A must do while visiting MDP. The scenary at the vineyard is just beautiful, and the tour takes you out into the vines and explains the differences here compared to a Mendoza climate. The tastings are done in a beautiful large open space, with great desciptions on how to properly taste. I followed up with a picnic of hams, cheese and wines in their garden. I was lucky to meet Eze the winemaker too which was an added bonus! Big hint - take the Antarctic Highway route... our taxi driver didn't listen, and pretty sure he regretted it after taking the bumpy(!!) road from main coastal road.

We ended up buying a wine and ordering small plates from the food truck in the gardens. It would be great if the step-by-step lunch option was offered. Another thing to keep in mind is that there can be a lot of mosquitoes. I would recommend that the winery offer some repellent and if not, consider bringing one. Water & Amusement Parks
Aquopolis is a vibrant aquatic theme park that offers an array of colorful waterslides and pool areas designed for children. This lively destination provides a wide selection of food options, ensuring an enjoyable experience for visitors. While some suggest the need for more sizable pools suitable for non-swimmers and individuals who prefer not to ride water slides, overall, Aquopolis is regarded as a remarkable and highly recommended venue. It serves as an amazing summer destination and can be enjoyed with both family and friends.
Amazing place to come and enjoy in the summer. I came with family and friends in early February. It was a great experience, amenities, parks, pools, working great. Also consider that the park has food stores inside so you won't miss anything.

Very nice place to spend a sunny day, just for $11, you can bring your own food and also buy there. A lot of moderate and extreme slides. Will come back again!
Aurelius I — Google review
A very nice and entertaining place with so much diverse food options. I really enjoyed it, but there should be more big pools like the one that is at the entrance because it's appropriate for people who don't know how to swim and can't ride water slides. Despite that, it's such a magnificent place and I totally recommend it!
Selene A — Google review
What they don't say on the pamphlets: queues to get the equipment and second queue to enter the ride. Queues are long. We paid ARS850.00 each however about 1/3 of the rides were closed. The remaining ones are in need of repair and investment. There are leaks and rust on every slide. The quality of the water in the slides and pools is the type you don't want to swallow. Toilets small and dirty. The food places also full of unhealthy selections and pricey. Even though it is the end of the summertime it was very crowded made worse by all the ride closures. It gets 1 star because there were nice staff members and the rides that worked were fun. However, there are no "normal" slides for adults: either you take an extreme slide or you don't slide. Not made for overweight people either... restrictions on weights make it impossible for big people to enjoy anything other than feel uncomfortable and left out. The parking was free. The kiddie pools are nice, water dirty. I shall not return nor recommend the park to anyone. As an additional comment, last week was when a couple had a horrible accident that required major stitches to both victims and the park tried to minimize the incident. I already had the tickets so went anyway and regretted it after only 1 hour.

Historic Walking Areas
Plaza del Agua is an elegant public space located near a notable former water-supply facility. It features a charming cafe terrace and a commemorative site honoring those who served in past wars. This upscale plaza is perfect for taking a break or enjoying an ice cream after exploring the Guemes area. During the summer, it hosts open-air performances on its specially designed stage. For those seeking unique flea market finds and leisurely strolls, Plaza Rocha is the ideal destination instead.
Very peaceful in luxurious neighborhood.
