Parks
Spiceball Country Park, the largest park in Banbury, offers a variety of activities for visitors. The park features a fenced play area and an impressive skate park, as well as a cycling track and activity trail. With the River Cherwell running through it, the park also boasts scattered woodlands with climbable tree trunks. Additionally, it is home to Banbury's Parkrun group who meet every Saturday morning for a 5k run along its paths and trails.
Beautiful park in all seasons... Concrete paths with opportunities to wander under the trees or relax in the open fields.
Etienne A — Google review
Great town park. Lots of green space and places to relax or exercise. There is a weekly parkrun here on Saturday mornings at 9am. A wildlife conservation area is set up around the river and a volunteer group meet regularly to work on projects. Parking is possible near the town and at the far end near the reservoir (free). There are some small football goals for younger children. A trail runs around the edge of the park which is partly paved and suitable for walking or cycling and is suitable for wheelchairs or prams. A canal runs alongside the park and makes an alternative walk.
Gareth O — Google review
The park is very large because it consists of two sections. The first section contains attractions such as a playground for children, a skate park (which I recommend because it's well-maintained and free of any damage), and a recreation area with BBQ stands with built-in trash cans and benches right next to it. The second section of the park features a small pitch with two soccer goals and a patch of meadow where you can relax. 😀

A beautiful place for a walk. The many varieties of trees are beautiful. It's lovely to walk by the river. Lovely in the springtime. Good circuit for cycling or jogging too and a lovely park for families.

Longford Park Community Centre is a vibrant hub nestled within a modern suburban development, radiating a warm and inviting atmosphere that appeals to families, retirees, and expats alike. This community-centric space is surrounded by lush green areas ideal for outdoor fun, family picnics, or peaceful walks away from the busy town life. The centre itself serves as the heart of Longford Park, hosting an array of events, fitness classes, and social gatherings that cultivate a strong sense of community among residents.
A fantastic and super supportive community centre. We operate our classes from here and everyone has been incredible in making them a success. I would highly recommend the centre for any event or class!

Does what it says on the tin, local community centre for all those local community needs. Small car park, but larger capacity overflow across the road.

We used this hall for my Daughters 6th birthday party. It was a fantastic space with plenty of tables and chairs to use upon opening the storage cupboard. The kitchen was amazing, great space to serve the endless amount of children who required drinks etc. Parking was abundant and overall everybody had a great time. Ellie, who i dealt with during the booking of the hall was very transparent and communicated very well. Everything which was expected of us after the party (cleaning up, taking your rubbish away was written down in a clear document) these things can get quite overwhelming so it was a good check sheet for us to ensure the hall was left in great condition for the next party of people. Thank you LPCC & Thank You Ellie
Sam P — Google review
We have used both the East and West Wings and both offer great facilities for different type of functions. There is plenty of parking onsite and across the road, the kitchen and store room is fully equipped with everything needed. Both halls are specious and clean. Access is hassle free and the team are very helpful. 10/10 recommend!

Booked for a Zumba session. Fantastic space, with great facilities and a helpful, friendly team if you need anything. The hall was perfect for my class. A really great centre for the community.

Longford park Is lovely on a dry day. But today it was raining. And being so open you know where to sit down. Hopefully they will put some seating on the pathway . Some have not been finished yet so you dirt and tarmac.
Patrick L — Google review
LPCA was a good find for our martial arts practices and served us well for over a year and a half. We did not have any issues with the management. The management was communicative and friendly. However, this all changed recently in the past few months to a very shouty belligerent management staff. Suddenly we were faced with regular baseless false accusations that upset all the members. The environment became too toxic to continue using. The LPCA is not recommended and to be avoided as there are far better managed and friendlier options in the area.

Kings Sutton Children's Park is a popular destination in the charming village of Kings Sutton. The park features a large tractor/combine harvester climbing frame that kids love, as well as a surrounding field perfect for picnics and games. It attracts visitors from nearby villages due to its diverse attractions, including a flying fox, giant see-saw, and basketball/football court.
Love this playpark and so does everyone else as folk travel from villages over to have a go. There are plenty of things for older kids and a smaller self contained park for the wee toddlers. There's a flying fox, giant see saw (which I think my husband and I have more fun on) and a wee basketball/football tarmacked space.
Deanne J — Google review
Great play area, there's some new "fitness" equipment that has recently been installed. Loads of space for kids to run around and plenty of equipment. The only thing isn't lacking is toilets and a cafe.

This place is excellent for kids of all ages. I use the smaller enclosed park for my toddler. I know he's going to be safe and there are plenty of things for him to enjoy without too much supervision, which he loves. We go in all weather!

Additionally, visitors can enjoy the children's play area and aviary which attracts people of all ages. Great place to get mugged for peanuts ! Look out for friendly squirrels, and also robins apparently (hearsay). Trees are gorgeous, kids' games and adults' fitness equipment in good shape - a great family walk all year round.
Etienne A — Google review
Excellent park, we spent 5 hours there yesterday (Sunday) having a family picnic. The family came from Nottinghamshire, Berkshire, Cambridgeshire, Birmingham, Hampshire etc so this was the park in the “middle” of us all travel wise. The park was clean, well kept with toilets too. These were extremely up to date, clean & soap & dryers were available too. It was a shame the cafe was closed but we popped to the nearby Church House cafe for coffee’s. The trees offered us plenty of shelter in the heavy downpours but the children loved it when the sun cane out and they could play cricket, football & use the basketball nets. Thank you Banbury Council for an excellent park, we left no litter & it was good to see the CCTV cameras were around to keep people safe. We would definitely return. Parking was ok in surrounding streets as the park car park was full all day.

People’s Park, situated in the middle of the town. There are really nice features in the park. Formal flower beds, a community garden, a park for children, tennis courts, fixed exercise equipment, some sculptures an Avairy with various colourful birds like budgies and cockatoo’s. There is also a War Memorial in remembrance of the Second World War. There was also a little mobile van selling posh coffees and snacks. Easy to walk around, plenty to do and a direct route into town.

Garden
Nature & Parks
Broughton Grange Gardens, located in Oxfordshire, is a stunning example of contemporary British gardens spread across 400 acres of parkland and meadows. The gardens feature a walled garden, orchard with ancient fruit trees, arboretum, ornate fountains, prairie planting, koi pool, greenhouse and a stumpery. Visitors can enjoy long sweeping walks through the young arboretum and wildflower meadow.
This is a garden of multiple parts, united by stunning views and vistas. The Tom Stuart Smith walled garden was an explosion of colour and texture. But calmer areas exist through various avenues of beech. There is a wonderful new arboretum which has mown pathways running through it. It’s a beautiful walk down to the river and I was surprised no one else was walking outside the gated perimeter as it’s lovely. There is a tiny cafe serving delicious cakes. Clean toilets and a nursery selling unusual perennials.
Alison M — Google review
Visited these gardens with a group, including my mum, who struggles with walking. Although not particularly accessible, the head gardener was lovely and made sure my mum was OK. The gardens are a real treasure. Lots of lovely photo opportunities and plants to buy, with a nice little cafe on site. All the staff were friendly and the toilets were very clean. Thoroughly recommend visiting!
RMR S — Google review
A lovely location for garden lovers. It's development is relatively recent, and it's done with love, imagination and attention to detail. The garden is in sections down a gentle Cotswold hillside, and there are further woodland walks available. Opening is limited, but you won't be disappointed.
Peter H — Google review
We visited Broughton Grange on a very hot day scuttling from shade to shade but really enjoyed our time there. The prairie planting, koi pool and greenhouse were beautiful. The arboretum is fairly recently planted so we just enjoyed looking at it from a viewing point rather than getting baked in the sun but will be interested to return in a few years to see how it has grown and developed. We found that the gardens were interesting and varied with some wilder areas to contrast with the more formal parts, as well as some fun and surprising sculptures. It was also a very calm and peaceful place to stroll around.
Mary G — Google review
I was absolutely blown away by this garden. Having visited so many gardens over the years this has to be in my top 3. It is so well thought out loved and maintained. Through to gloriously inspiring planting and a gentle complimentary colour palette, to the well laid out pathways which invite you to explore every aspect of the garden. The landscape is like going back in time, with cattle demanding the back ground and afternoon sunshine. Even the tea lawn and tea shed are considered by adorning it with roses. Serving delicious fresh cakes and a really good pot of tea. Well done to all who help create this magical hidden space in the Oxfordshire countryside.

Garden
Thenford Gardens and Arboretum, now open for the Summer on selected dates, boasts expansive and meticulously maintained gardens sprawled across 70 acres. With over 3000 trees and shrubs, medieval fish ponds, and an aura of magnificence in horticulture, this garden offers a truly splendid experience. The recent snowdrop spectacle was nothing short of extraordinary, showcasing the stunning beauty of this peaceful haven.
The autumn colours around the gardens are magnificent. The swans on the lakes make a perfect picture with the church in the background.

Beautiful and intriguing. Basic refreshments for those days it’s open. Good lavatories. Grounds have paths throughout although these are varying in surface, mainly tamped gravel. Enormous parking area on grass. Entrance through a gateway with limited overhead clearance (3.5m?) for non-coaches. Coach parking nearby. Whole site is accessible including cafe and toilets at estate visitor centre.

Delightful garden, lakes, woodland, and herbaceous borders, with sculptures dotted around and hiding in secret gardens. Greenhouse and hot houses are also open to view. To finish the afternoon, try the best coffee cake for miles .

Only open a few days a year. Well worth a visit in any season. Need more than 3 hours in this lovely place. Parking great. Can get gardening advice from the staff.
Fran B — Google review
Thenford gardens is open 19 days a year and is owned by former MP and Minister Michael heseltine and his wife. Approached down a country lane near Banbury , nothing can prepare you for the wonders within. Visiting on the last open day of the year and a very wet one at that, the garden and arboretum fills your very soul with joy. Wether it was the autumnal colours the wonderful sculptures, the impressive water features, there is something of interest at every turn. It is all so immaculately maintained and you are given the trust and freedom to roam anywhere. There is also a wonderful tea room. All in all , the best garden I have been to and one of the best places as a whole.
