We really enjoyed our visit to the Burford Tolsey Museum. Although small, there were so many curated pieces, telling the story of Burford over the past 8 centuries. Peter had so much passion for the museum and was very helpful in answering all our questions. A must visit if you want to understand more of the history of the Cotswolds and Burford specifically!

Not open. We tried two time to visit. Don't waste you time. Yes... after 2 pm.... Local chemist stated it was closed indefinitely. Welcome to Burford!

Regrettably when we visited during the early afternoon the museum was closed as the curator was away for four weeks according to note on the door. It is a pity that their website cannot include opening hours. Otherwise from Trip Advisor reviews which is obviously worth a visit.

As part of a tour of Burford, we started with this church that sits near the end of the town's version of high street, which is full of pubs, shops, eateries, art galleries and other tourist attractions. The graveyard has a little walking path that curls along the River Windrush at the far edge of the property. The church itself is surprisingly large inside, very bright, and just ornate enough to be interesting without seeming ostentatious. There was something about the way the building itself sits on the property that made it majestic. Cool spot to visit.

A stunning church with so much to look at! It's surprisingly large for a village church with various sections within & a lot of stained glass windows. Beautifully up kept & have some exterior work carried out to continue this maintenance of such a treasure. Definitely recommended

What a beautiful place , was planing to just walk around the ground but we end up visiting inside the church was open for a public that day. Entry if free of charge but you can do donations cash or contact less. It's absolutely majestic and beautiful inside so it's really worth to visit .

St John the Baptist Church in Burford England is one of the best church i visited so far. It was memorable for me because i was baptised as an Anglican. From the view outside to the inside it was perfect. Also, You can go to the other side to see the other side view of the church with the green scenery. It was an awesome experienced for me to visit this church.. While your exploring the Beautiful Burford, you can come and visit this Church. The architectural design of the church is beautiful. It was wonderful that i visited this church. Exploring alone is not that bad. Recommendable!!

Very well established on the edge of Burford with a great reputation for quality...the Roll Royce standard of garden centres for the quality and sheer range of plants, complemented by high end art and sculpture for sale and an excellent cafe restaurant with a wide ranging menu. Staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Please note there is a no dog policy. Lots of free parking and level disabled access.

Wow, another great Garden centre. While staying in the beautiful historical town of Burford the gateway to the Cotswolds we visited a few small villages and attractions close by Burford garden centre being one of them. It's super close by just off the A40 highway. Super easy access and huge carpark. It has absolutely everything you need for the garden and home. Massive selection of plants and trees suited for England. Amazing indoor plant selection as well. Not to mention all the utensils you need. It has an art gallery, book store, clothing section, alcohol section and a chocolate room when Christmas comes around. The restaurant is also fantastic, serving great food and not over priced. Everyone that I spoke to in the garden centre loved it and the staff were super friendly and helpful. You honestly couldn't ask for more. Unfortunately I couldn't take pictures of the plants as the weather wasn't playing ball that day but we are planning a trip nearer Christmas.

Burford Garden Company is an amazing place to visit! It’s not just a garden center — they have a huge selection of plants, seeds, and gardening tools, but also beautiful homeware, clothing, and decorations. I especially loved their Christmas section — full of magical ornaments and festive inspiration. A wonderful place to spend time and find something special for every season.

Massive garden centre with a large array of goods including indoor plants, garden tools, clothing, confectionary, and loads more. We went twice to ensure wexsaw everything. The restaurant was exceptionally busy. The car park covers a large area but finding a spot can take a while.

Could've spent all day in here and may have needed to remortgage our house. Don't just expect plants here, there are designer country clothes, beautiful homeware, cosy sofas , eastern rugs, stylish gifts, not forgetting the bookshop with amazing artwork and huge selection of posh Christmas decorations. Now I know why cotswold houses interiors are so beautiful, the owners must shop here frequently!

A really lovely place with so much to see and explore. It has everything from children’s toys to pet accessories, beautifully presented and thoughtfully laid out. That said, be prepared to spend — prices are definitely on the higher side, with a noticeable markup on most items. We had a lovely time wandering around, but it’s more of a “browse and admire” destination than a “fill the trolley” kind of shop.

OMG This Garden Centre is AMAZING! It’s a must, we happened to be driving past with grumbling tummies & Wowzers! What a stop! Food top notch, amazing selection of hot & cold dishes. The actual shop is amazing! Huge selection of home wares, food & plants of all types. This is a must.

I wandered into this shop not knowing it held the keys to our perfect day. The choices are plenty but not overwhelming and the crackers, jams and chutneys let you curate a perfect basket. I highly recommend the one covered in flower petals since it solidly adds to the whimsy. To optimize the taste, ride your bike to the tree next to the pond (there are no bad choices) and lay your parcels out to be properly admired. Then whittle away your lunch over the next few hours as you sit smugly knowing you cracked the code of English joy this afternoon.

This cheese store in Burford is so much more than a cheese shop. It is a fabulous shop full of wonderful, well thought out product that you want to purchase. The staff are the manager are amazing, very friendly and very knowledgeable in the produce they sell. The best bit is you can try before if you want too. I could not recommend this shop more than 5 stars, as that's was all that's possible. They deserve mo much more. LOVE THIS GEM!

I bought some local cheese here while vising the great village of Burford: Ashcombe and Burford and love both.

We just ate at the Royal Oak. The Service,Food and location is amazing. Best fish n chips and the curry sauce just tops it off. Compliments to the Chefs and the staff. Amazing is all I have to say👌

Came across this fantastic pub on our Sunday walk. We hadn't booked and they welcomed us and found us a table even though very busy. The Sunday roast beef was amazing and the service and welcome very positive. Lovely place to eat x

Best pie I’ve ever had. Couldn’t recommend enough! The pastry was cooked to perfection and the pie was full with delicious filling - the flavours were faultless. You HAVE to go if you’re ever in Burford!

This pub has THE best pie we’ve ever had - we had steak and ale pie - it was homemade and just delicious - lots of meat and the gravy was really really good : can’t comment on other dishes but they all looked good If you’re thinking were to eat in Burford (lots of choice) then be confident that this pub will deliver

Excellent lunch and service (not rushed) today. A really clean nice pub atmosphere too. First visit but we will definitely return. Beef brisket pie was very nice!

Great food and great service. We all went for the pie option and they were superb. Also very dog friendly, and a decent selection of local ales on offer too.

Food is brilliant but prices are high and I expect most pay the gratuity because one goes up to the counter to pay where there are lots of people about. Staff seemed a bit stressed and not particularly friendly but did a good job altogether.

Such a cute bookstore with really beautiful editions. I ended up falling in love with the classic collections and buying both a Sherlock Holmes and Jane Austen collection. Definitely will come again. Friendly, welcoming staff also.

Me and my friend visited Burford today and wondered into this amazing book shop. Everything you want, stunning books, stunning collections, lovely place to sit and read. Kid and dog friendly. Absolutely stunning. Would go back to Burford just for this place.

Lovely, lovely bookshop. As part of a tour, we stopped in Burford and as soon as I saw the sign, I made it my priority. It's a delightful place, well organized and inviting. I could not choose between two books I liked and the lady at the counter was super helpful and patient. I ended up buying an Alice edition from the Bath Treasury of Children's Classic which is just gorgeous. This bookshop was the highlight of my Burford visit.

I came from London for a holiday away from the city and this is the most epic little sweet shop I have ever seen! It's so old fashioned and sells sweets by weight and it's not ridiculously priced either! I highly recommend this place it's epic!

Old school sweet shop with glass jars, small candies, and some more commercial items. It is small but there is a lot in here - enough to satisfy even the most discerning sweet tooth. We entered for a small sweet and ended up taking away quite a sack of treats!

We visited Burford for a few days and visited this shop. The shop is beautiful, the sweets variety is out of this world and the couple/owners are just lovely. They were so welcoming and helpful (even held our dog outside for us so we could both pop in!) I would definitely come back to Burford -even just for the Sugar Coated Mallows 😋😋

Lots of variety to choose from. Disappointed with quality of sweets we purchased. No sherbert in the lemon sherberts and the thinnest layer of chocolate on the honeycomb. It felt like we bought cheap sweets sold for a premium price.

Set in the most beautiful historic building. Initially when we walked into Huffkins, the cafe only had 2 people in it however we could not find any staff. We returned 10 minutes later & staff were present. There is half table service- you select your meal, pay for it at the counter & then it is brought to the table. We chose the Cotswold cream tea & the savoury cream tea. It was great to see they were using local produce. The clotted Cornwall cream is heavenly. The savoury cream tea was a warm cheese scone with farm butter & the most delicious house tomato chutney. This tea house offer vegan, gluten free & children's menus. Dog friendly. Outdoor seating. Bakery next door.

Came here for lunch with my family and was quite disappointed. I ordered the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, but it just looked and tasted like a cheap frozen breaded chicken burger, it was not crispy and the bun was dry. At £15, it really didn’t feel worth the price. The scone was also underwhelming. On a positive note, the staff were friendly and the venue itself was lovely, but unfortunately, I wouldn’t return.

A truly delightful experience in Burford! The atmosphere was warm and relaxing, the staff were lovely, and the vegan cream tea was absolutely exceptional. Everything was beautifully done — the perfect spot for a sweet, peaceful break in the heart of the Cotswolds.

Lovely little cafe in Burford. It is really quaint and staffed by very friendly people. We shared an afternoon tea for one. The coronation chicken sandwich was one of the best ever. The scone was amazing as was the carrot cake. Will definitely be back!!

I had a celebration tea brought for myself as a gift, I was over the moon, I love a afternoon tea, unfortunately this experience didn't leave me over the moon. At the start our waitress was lovely, but after the food was brought to us, we didn't see anyone again no one checked on us to make sure everything was fine, we were told we had unlimited hot drinks refills, we couldn't do that because there was no one around. The tea rooms are in a nice building, but felt damp when we went, the table we had left a lot to be desired it wasn't very clean crumbs on the chairs and table, and what I think was food over the menu. All in all very disappointed for what was a £80+ visit.

In the middle of lovely Burford is an excellent coffee shop and informal restaurant. Always busy like the town, it sells simple appetising snacks and lunches ( and breakfast at that time of day). They also have a range of deli foods - some their own making which are worth the trip. Their excellent deli next door is currently mothballed because they cannot find the staff- a real shame.

Travelled from London & tried food following by the reviews. We didn't go wrong. 👍 This restaurant has served us really tasty food which we can't easily find in London locally. Great selection of wines with other drinks too. 🍷 Perfect service by all staff members. Will definitely go back while in Cotswolds. I would highly recommend if you're Indian food lover. Visiting from New York I really had a delicious meal here with my family, staff is very friendly, place is quite and so clean The menu has the exact variety that you would expect from a typical Indian cuisine place Compare to other places the prices are affordable, every plate is perfect to share

Stayed in Burford for a holiday (27th October) . Walked in to see if they had a table last minute, and it was the BEST I’ve ever had. We had lamb biriani, chicken korma, saag aloo, nanns, onion bhajis and rice. Would definitely visit again if I’m in Burford- a bit far from Somerset! Lovely staff, atmosphere and again it was amazing, and I’ve had a lot of curries!

We called in here for lunch whilst visiting Burford & had a delicious chicken biriyani. At £15.95, it was definitely value for money, as eating out in Burford is very expensive, £18 for sausage & mash in one place, so we we were very pleased with our choice. Lovely, relaxed surroundings & very pleasant staff, I can definitely recommend it.

The food was outstanding as always and in particular the Lamb Naga was exceptional. The restaurant had a real buzz this evening and great attentive service from Taz and the rest of the team. All round first class. Thank you Sam! 🙌🏼

When you ask for Coke, they will give you Coke zero, without warning or notification. They charge £3.50 per glass for Coke zero. When you ask for popadom for the table, they'll charge you for two servings of popadom but deliver only one plate of popadom to the table for sharing. Questionable practices. I did not like my main course, starter was nice though. It's such a small area, every other person dining there will hear all details of your conversations. Chairs are uncomfortable and not appropriate for overweight individuals (small).

Neighborhood Gem Ambience: so many fireplaces to choose from, great decorations, warm & cozy, and even better than lamb next door Service: remembered me from day to day and even my choices; prompt and attentive and made everyone feel welcome from large groups to single diners. Food: delicious: my only suggestion is to serve a piece of bread and butter with your delicious soup! --what a shame!

Staff were, & ambience was, perfect! Staff could not have been more attentive. However our afternoon tea, (which was a gift), was very disappointing. Consisting of THREE finger sandwiches each, (note: NOT 6 slices of bread, but 4 slices cut into three thin parts each), and each quite soggy AND stuck to the napkin on the plate! Scones were small, and too hard. In adfition, we ordered the artichoke soup, and chips which I rate 10/10. Pity that the intended 'highlight', (the afternoon tea), was such a letdown! I love the Bay Tree usually, and only live 15 minutes away. However on this occasion the afternoon tea was a disappointment, which is a great shame, as I had high hopes. To reiterate, your Staff are AMAZING, as is the venue. I would appreciate your feedback, as I am sure you take comments seriously, as they are a big indicator as to how you are treating your guests, and how they react to that treatment! Couldn’t fault my Sunday lunch. However the staff were busy laughing and chatting loudly between themselves to the extent it was annoying and unprofessional. Flowers on the table dead. Sticky price label visible on the flower pot. Crumbs on the seat. Gents loo needed a good clean Chefs food fabulous. But everything else lacking Beware of the “optional 12.5 % “ service charge

The Bay Tree restaurant is part of the hotel. The decor is fresh looking, contemporary in styling and spacious. We found the staff to be extremely helpful. The menu is ambitious and broad in its offer. The wine menu had a pairing for just about every dish. Our food was perfect, service exquisite and overall we had an enjoyable time. Do try it soon, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Only one bar staff member as it was a quiet evening eating in the bar area but he was excellent. The food was delicious and arrived quickly. Highly recommend.

Avoid.... Overpriced, cold food, had to return most of it. Service was slow. Looks like it is under new management. We used to come a lot because the food was excellent, but no longer. Its also now quiet, when it used to be packed.

Played 18 this morning, found the greens excellent. Nice smooth putting surface no bumps or thin spots. Fairways have good coverage too. Really top condition compared to other clubs in the area that I’ve played.

Beautiful well layed out course. Friendly clubhouse with a good food and drinks menu. The round was a bit expensive at £75 but the course is well maintained, and the greens were in great condition even though there was a lot of rain prior to playing. Well worth a visit

A very pleasant rolling parkland course in good condition, not very long but quite tight in places. The day I played a society was in front, making the pace of play very slow. I caught up with a couple of members playing ahead of me and was invited to join them. Charming and friendly people. Did not have time to try out the food and drink but it all looked good from a distance! Only criticism is the prices ... Everything around Burford is very expensive, and given that I live in an expensive area of West London, when I say it is rather pricey... well need I say more. Nice though!

Visited today this lovely shop that is filled to the rafters with all sorts of lovely things . The lady who served me was just lovely and even gave me a free history lesson of a parade that was happening that day. Loved my purchase loved this shop!

Because of a mistake by the shop assistant, i left the shop without my goods, contacted the owner who said he would call me back. He didn’t, so I called and he said that although there had been a mistake I hadn’t been charged. I sent him the requested email and home address as he said he would post the item to me, I asked re payment and he said we could sort once I received the goods. Nothing ever arrived, so I have ordered the same elsewhere, such a shame as I have always visited the shop when in Burford. Very poor and very disappointed

If you are looking for a pleasant experience, either selling or buying, I don’t recommend you go here. The lady who dealt with us had no respect, patience or interest… Rude and dismissive, didn’t stay long as I felt very unwelcome.

Before you visit, do yourself a favour and watch Harry Enfield’s ‘I Saw You Coming’ on YouTube, because it perfectly sums up this place. It’s a treasure trove of overpriced tat trying to be passed off as antique. In fact, you can find some of these ‘vintage’ items online, brand new, for less than this place is trying to charge for second hand examples.

Wildly overpriced. Vile taxidermy of African big 5 including a full giraffe head and neck. Everything seemed "fixed price". Some nice furniture to look at, but crazy money. Selling a mass produced print in a modern plastic frame for £125, which you can buy in a homeware shop for about £30. Clearly a tourist con.

A wonderful gallery nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds. The space is warm and welcoming, with a thoughtfully curated selection of artwork. Always a pleasure to visit, a true gem for fine art lovers

Brian Sinfield has been well known in the art world for many years and the eponymous gallery continues to sell wonderful contemporary art. We have a number of pieces from this gallery and recommend a visit.

Visited here to see works by Saied Dai and Charlotte Sorapure. I'd been correspondence with the staff who were exceptionally generous in responding to queries. They also helped me on arrival by getting out all the paintings I wanted to see, and hanging them so I could get a proper sense of them in the light. They also had some other interesting works, and the staff quickly got a sense of my taste, and helped me notice other works. Highly recommend.

In Burford recently and visited Brian Sinfield Gallery. Really lovely artwork and very knowledgable staff. Would highly recommend a visit!

The Drang Gallery is new to Burford and new to me. I just took delivery of a magnificent piece by Dave White and I have received friendly, efficient service, the type that restores my faith in the retail sector. Kudos to Cath, the manager, as her warm personality and uber professional nature added fun and value. The gallery hold a collection that will appeal to young and old and much is affordable for the newbie collector. If you fancy investing in art that will give you joy and your heirs, a windfall...visit Cath and the team and get that ball rolling.

A massive thank you for making everything so smooth from the communication to education and making sure everything was on point every step of the way for the pieces I purchased. Great wildlife park to visit. It's in the middle of nowhere, parking is great, animals are super accessible and the people are so nice. The cost was very reasonable. There are loads of different animals (wolverine, red panda, rhinos, lions, giraffes, ant eaters, rover otters, and lemurs to name a few.) The train around the park was quaint. I'd recommend visiting anytime. Ooooo, and there is an adventure park for the kids to play at if you just want to chill for thirty minutes with a 10" sausage!

Really good day out, helped by being very reasonable weather for the time of year. No rain, not too cold, some sunshine. It was busy, being half term, but manageable and well organised. The restaurant was very busy at midday but is was moving quickly and tables being cleaned regularly. Not too long to wait for decent hot food. The animals looked well cared for and their enclosures really well thought out. Definitely more than enough to see in one day. The Rhinos seemed to be part of a successful breeding program. Throughout my childhood there were only 3 then 2 rhinos. Now there seemed to be 7 including some very cute looking young ones. The grounds were particularly impressive considering the time of year. Clearly a lot of effort goes into maintaining it this well. All in all would definitely recommend for a day out.

We couldn't access cheaper tickets as we were buying tickets on the day. However the price seemed reasonable. We had a fabulous daym. The grounds and gardens looked beautiful especially as it was autumn with all the beautiful colours. Plenty to keep us occupied and we wished we had arrived earlier. Lots of fascinating frogs, insects, snakes and bats. Some animal such as the apes and birds seemed a bit limited for space although all seemed well cared for. The lions were lively and the range of animals great. Highlights have to be seeing baby rhinos Mo and Marcus. Mo was indoors staying close to mum. Marcus was outdoors with mum and extended family...he put on quite a show with excitable bounds. Great to see such an endangered species thriving here. The train wasn't running as it was off season.

I have visited with my kids. The place is very well maintained, the animals all seem happy and well kept, and there are some gorgeous spieces. You may need a full half day to enjoy possibly more if the weather is good. The restaurant (self service) is ok quality, the queue to get food may be about 30 mins and outside (so if it's raining you'll get wet).

Loved this park. Well laid out and loads of animals to see. Great for kids and adults alike. Really nice to get up close with the various animals. Good parking area, shop ans restaurant available. We will be back.

Great place to visit. Never been before and I was so surprised we have place like this near us. So many different animals, taken great care of them. I would recommend to anyone. Its a great place to spend a day there. There is something for everyone.

As someone who often goes to zoos I would say it's one of the best in the whole country! So many animals to see and you can get nice and close. The walls are placed well for toddlers to see without needing to be picked up the whole time and my dog was able to come and adored seeing zoo animals for the first time. The animals looked very well looked after. The staff were very friendly and chatty and really knew their stuff. We even met the owner who knew every staff member by name and was very polite. The site is well laid out and very clean. There is even a little train which goes around most of the zoo which was the perfect way to keep a toddler moving on with promise of seeing the train to past. Overall such a lovely day.

Beautiful church from 1174-1500 that is free to visit (though donations very appreciated). There are very useful information signs throughout telling the history and use of key things throughout the church, including the chapel's construction, 12th-14th century font's history, couple buried there clock mechanism, and more. We spent about 20 minutes wandering and reading the information but could've spent a little more both inside and outside. The hours from their website were 10-4, but when we visited there was a sign mentioning 2-4 that day. Free town car park a few minutes away.

As part of a tour of Burford, we started with this church that sits near the end of the town's version of high street, which is full of pubs, shops, eateries, art galleries and other tourist attractions. The graveyard has a little walking path that curls along the River Windrush at the far edge of the property. The church itself is surprisingly large inside, very bright, and just ornate enough to be interesting without seeming ostentatious. There was something about the way the building itself sits on the property that made it majestic. Cool spot to visit.

A stunning church with so much to look at! It's surprisingly large for a village church with various sections within & a lot of stained glass windows. Beautifully up kept & have some exterior work carried out to continue this maintenance of such a treasure. Definitely recommended

Old English churches. What can you say about them? They are fascinating. There is so much history under that roof.

Located at the gateway to the Cotswolds in Burford, St. John the Baptist Church is a peaceful and beautiful place to visit. The atmosphere is quiet and serene, making it perfect for reflection. Entry is free, and it's a great opportunity to admire the stunning architecture. There's a small parking area nearby, as well as a lovely café with toilet facilities. Just next to the church, a picturesque stream flows gently by, adding to the charm of the setting. A truly delightful spot to spend some time.

ARTISTS BE WARNED From what I’ve heard from other artists, Nova Fine Art is not paying their artists and seems to be shutting down their galleries. Avoid them like the plague and buy direct from the artist whenever you can.
