Playground
Nature & Parks
Takapuna Beach Reserve Playground, located in Auckland, New Zealand, is a popular destination for families and offers activities for children and adults. The playground features a nine-meter tower with three tube slides of varying heights and a seven-meter climbing rope structure. With Rangitoto as a backdrop, visitors can enjoy nearby eateries, a movie theater, and the beach.
The Takapuna Beach Reserve Playground offers climbing frames, swings, slides, a flying fox, and sand play. Safe, shaded, and near cafes, it’s perfect for families. Kids enjoy endless fun, while parents relax with stunning beach views—a must-visit spot!
Darell N — Google review
Very fun playground, close to the beach, with many facilities and play equipment suitable for young children
Yahomm C — Google review
Fun place to go but however be cautious going on the mouse wheel as if you fall over it can be really painful. They have some really big slides which take a while to climb but it’s worth it once you get to the top. The mini trampoline in the ground is kinda sad and has nearly made me trip in it several times since it is just randomly placed into the ground. However still a fun playground to go to and it is really quick to go to stores since they are just behind the playground up a ramp.
Ethan — Google review
Great park!!! So much to do. There were heaps of slides, ropes to climb on, a hamster wheel, spinny things, a wheel chair swing, super clean bathrooms, grills, and so much more! Definitely recommend!
Maelo I — Google review
Awsome park to take out your family or friends to eat lunch or go for a long walk on the beach. Heaps of chairs under the tree to relax. Big playground for kids. Even a handicap ♿️ kids can play here. Well maintain. Big public toilets and changing room. Long Beach.

Celebrating Chinese New Year at Takapuna Beach Reserve on 10/2/2024, my husband and I enjoyed our lovely moments there. There is an annual special event organised by China Cultural Centre Auckland for Chinese New Year. Therefore, there are lots of people visiting the stalls and enjoying the dancing performance. After attending this special event, we had a relaxing stroll on Takapuna Beach. We highly recommend you for attend this special event next year if you happen to live in Takapuna or drive past there.
Addie L — Google review
Really clean! Keep in touch with the I Love Takapuna group or the Auckland Council as they have a lot of community events there. Great day for the family, and the lifeguard station is there behind the park to take the kids swimming.
Louise B — Google review
Great playground for the kids..even hammocks!! Paid parking is easy to use..close walk to township only 200m. Many cafe's in close vicinity and usually ice-cream or waffle type caravans parked close to playground in the weekends. Toilets and changing rooms only meters away. A nice beach right there as well. Caters for everyone's wants and needs.

Onepoto Domain is our local park. It’s great for young children to let off some steam with a scooter track, adventure playground and plenty of grassy areas. There are toilets, parking area, sports fields and public barbecues. There’s also a boardwalk which crosses a wetland area and comes back to the playground through some bush. Maungauika, also known as North Head Historic Reserve, is a former military fortification located on a grassy headland. It offers stunning views of the Waitemata Harbour and Islands of the Hauraki Gulf. This site has a rich history, first as a Maori settlement and later as a significant coastal defence site in New Zealand. Visitors can explore tunnels with a self-guided tour to learn about its defense installations spanning almost 120 years.
This place is a short walk from the Torpedo Navy Museum. It's free entrance. You have a lower and an upper car park. The toilets are closer to the upper car park. The views from this place are stunning. You can also walk down and walk a short distance along the water. You can also set up a tent for yourself and play all day long. You can get off the Ferry from the CBD and take Bus Route 807 to reach here.
Hans K — Google review
We recently visited Maungauika / North Head Historic Reserve, and it was such a memorable experience—especially for the kids! The site is not only stunning with panoramic views of the Hauraki Gulf, Rangitoto Island, and Auckland’s skyline, but it’s also full of rich history. The kids loved exploring the old tunnels, bunkers, and gun emplacements, and it was a great hands-on way for them to learn about New Zealand’s coastal defence history. There’s plenty of open space to run around, and the walking tracks are easy to navigate with lots of interesting stops along the way. Highly recommend for families, history lovers, or anyone looking to enjoy one of Auckland’s most unique scenic spots!
LJ — Google review
Very informative history of the War Tunnels and walking through them gives you the feel of what it must have felt like for all brave people who fought to save this beautiful country. The scenery is amazing. It's well worth the visit but some areas may be difficult for people not too good on their feet.
Robbo — Google review

A free experience to explore the underground tunnels, with a wonderful view of greater Auckland. You can use your phone to light up the tunnels, but a small torch might be better.

Excellent little reserve to take the kids for a day out. While not listed exclusively, the playground here is very nice for both bigger and smaller children, it is mostly under the coverage of trees so accompanying adults have a place to relax while kids play. There is also a library across the road and plenty to drink and eat in Devonport town. For more info see @tanwangphoto on insta.

Took the ferry across to Devonport before Anzac Day and had a lovely lunch on the esplanade. Poignant time of contemplation visiting the Devonport dawn Anzac preparations. My father joined the air force and fought in both the second world war and the Korean war. We have so much to be thankful for in the freedoms they were willing to give their lives for for the preservation of our Western way of life

There are lifeguards on duty if you swim between the flags. Public BBQs available. No dogs or fishing allowed as it's a marine reserve.

One of my favourite places on Earth. A lovely long linear regional park with a fun playground for kids, picnic areas, a beautiful beach, an old homestead and a gorgeous coastal walkway.

Great place for family and walking. Dogs only allowed on the beach at certain times and not anywhere else including in cars or the picnic areas.

Fantastic, vast beachside park with clean toilets and changing area, drinking fountains, water spouts, grassy slopes, plenty of shade, and the sound of waves and birds for a perfect afternoon nap! I waited here before a night kayaking tour in bioluminescent waters, thanks to Canoe and Kayak, Auckland! Lots of ducks and other birds around, and they know people have crumbs. First time visit here. A very family friendly bike park gorgeous learners. This is not an adventure mountain bike park. It is a learning to ride your bike park for kids. We what for a rain day walk, so the lack of signage did not bother us. Great clean tiolets with lovely showers. Lots of parking. Highly recommended for a gentle walk or ride. Worth the trek.
Etomia W — Google review
Great place for dogs to walk on or off leash depending on what part of the park you are in. Major con is the dogs owners don't know how to read and obey the on and off leash area's making it dangerous for anxious or nervous dogs trying to seek controlled environment for walking their dogs as you can be randomly approached by uncontrolled off leash dogs sadly. Also owners seem to fail to pick up after their own. What once was nice quiet and well behaved park has been ruined by inconsiderate dog owners!
Josh P — Google review
Beautiful scenery, nice playground for kids . There are some construction in the area .
Noor N — Google review
Excellent fully fenced off leash dog park. Lots of room to exercise your pooch. Plenty of parking. Nice clean amenities. Also has areas for bike riding, horse riding and kids playground.
Sonia C — Google review
Great park for those who like a bit of everything, not a large area but still enjoyable walk that is good for those who are trying to improve or are new to fitness or have small children. Pictures speak for themselves. Very peaceful and tranquil. This place has character, i especially liked seeing the wooden carved tree, signs of an old tree house platform in the pines and the chain on the tree if the cliff above the sea, a place where life was lived:). Bit tucked out of the way great place to let your dog free in a good allocated space.
Lina K — Google review
A basic track and fairly short also. Access down to the beach is a bonus. Not overly well maintained, however it is ok. There is a kids track also as well as additional tracks in the back section which us used for horse riding, nice facilities for changing and a bathroom stop and if course a drinking fountain.
Matthew H — Google review
A fantastic multi mode leisure park in the North Shore. Great to walk your dog or take your kid for a BMX training session on specially made tracks or do your usual horse riding or have a short tramping exercise. 200 degree views of Whenuapai, Herald Island and Hobsonville over Lucas Creek are so beautiful! Awesome park with plenty of facilities, including a Basketball court, Skatepark, climbing frames and a playground, which is more suited for toddlers, than older kids. There is also a flying fox up the hill, but be warned, it gives a bit of a kick at the end. There is also BBQs and picnic tables. The grass area is good to kick a ball around, but can be wet in areas. Carpark on site too

A large area to take the family to get out for fresh air, take a picnic with friends and hang out. Enough space for people to find their own area just take a may if you don't like to sit on grass. There's a skate park, a small playground basketball hoop and those exercise machines around so plenty to do if you want to move around after eating.
Nicole B — Google review
Great place to play for children. Emergency public toilet facility and also plenty of parking available. Plus, a badminton court and basketball court are available. A big Skateboard park is also available, it's a pleasure to see when advanced skaters are there.
Yashesh S — Google review
Really nice park. They are as of 13/07 they are repairing the basketball hoops so you can't play but the netball hoops are still working and they haven't closed those off. There is a lot of plants and trees and open space, saw a couple of rainbow lorikeets which was pretty cool. The only thing they need is a dog bowl connected to the water fountain. Apart from that it's great.

A nice Compaq park to take the kids or hangout and play catch for the grownups. Bring your BBQ grill, a tent and mats to layout. Manuka Reserve is a local park with various amenities for both kids and adults. It features a fenced play area for children, an off-leash dog area, and a boat ramp. While the bush tracks have been damaged by cyclones, it remains a great spot to spend leisure time. The reserve also offers facilities such as Exeloos on-site and toilets. Dog owners can let their pets run free and socialize with other dogs in this peaceful environment.
An excellent park for both kids and dogs alike! In less than 100m walk from the car park you'll get to the off leash dog park are. There is plenty of room for your fur-child/children to run around. There are also plenty of bush to provide ample shade even on the sunny days. There is also a small acrobatic area for your dogs as well! The kids playground is right beside the public car park as you enter to the reserve.
Thiranjith W — Google review
Loved our visit to the reserve. It was wet when we came but it was enjoyable. The playground is well maintained and equipped. It has good facilities like toilets and rubbish bins. The dog park play area and paths are well labelled and marked out. Even though the area is not fenced the tree line provides a barrier so dogs don’t just run off in any direction too far especially if you are doing recall training. I couldn’t see any water troughs which I think is good as the pravo virus and kennel cough are going around again. Bring a water bottle and a bowel for your doggo.

Great local park with fenced play area for kids, hoop to shoot, Exeloos on-site and an unfenced dog off leash area over the bridge. Unfortunately the cyclones have damaged nearly all the bush tracks .. a great way to while away some time

Auckland Domain is a popular city park that features museums, memorials, and the remnants of Pukekawa volcano. It's an ideal escape for those in Central Auckland, offering a serene retreat amidst the bustling urban environment. The park boasts tree-lined paths, water features, and peaceful flower beds. Visitors can enjoy activities like visiting the museum, exploring the Winter Gardens, or simply strolling through the tranquil surroundings.
I found the museum to be exceptionally beautiful and majestic. We enjoyed a delightful meal of fish and chips with ice-cold beer. The grounds were breathtaking, and while the building's multi-level design presented a slight navigational challenge, this added to the overall experience of discovery. I highly recommend a visit.

Hill top locations cannot be beaten for an early morning visit with the world still asleep. What an amazing park for young and old and sights to explore here in Auckland. Play cricket, kick a ball, picnic with friends and family and enjoy the views. Or get a taste of culture inside the museum and stop for a moment of reflection and remember what this place is meant to keep us aware of. Abd yes, it’s not the Louvre, but the views and the available parking to enjoy the Domain are definitely in favour of this place. Though don’t come by car in the high season, parking can get tricky then.

Visitors can also admire the floral clock at the park's entrance and explore the city's Meteorological Observatory.
We visited very early on a Sunday morning when everything and everyone was still and peaceful. Beautiful gardens and stairways with manicured lawns. Plenty of bench seats to sit on as you take in the surrounding city scenery. A very scenic spot to enjoy the serenity

Beautiful park near AUT campus - in Auckland CBD. Locals completing their morning yoga practice, benches occupied by some couples and families and the fountain happily splashing away while students make their way through to get to town or other places on campus. Very well maintained, dotted with several statues nodding to significant people in New Zealand's history. Weather will play a part in your experience of this park- plan accordingly. So beautiful park to walk, spend the afternoon, read, or take a look of the city. It has several historical monuments along the path. A nice fountain and it’s always clean. Its amazing gardens are full of flowers and green grass. In the background, you can see the Auckland buildings or the university on the other side. Wherever you sit, you’ll have a beautiful and different view. The bandstand is another highlight, and also the old trees. So many birds also. Highly recommended to walk around and enjoy its peace and freshness.

Milford Beach Reserve is an ideal location to commence a leisurely stroll towards Takapuna. This beach not only provides ample space for dogs to frolic but also boasts a safe swimming environment. However, it is advisable to consult the Safe Swim website as the area near Wairau Creek is often deemed hazardous, necessitating a relocation towards the south of the creek. The park offers an enjoyable atmosphere with a well-maintained playground that caters to children's recreational needs.
I absolutely love this beach! Nice soft sand, perfect for walking, sunbathing, and swimming. Pleanty of free parking. It gets the sunrise and sun till about 530 in the summer evenings. Public toilets and showers in the parking lot. Take note of the hours dogs are allowed on the beach. In summer, dogs aren't allowed between 10 am and 5 pm. Out of those hours off leash play is allowed. We even managed to score an ice cream from the ice cream truck in the (summer) evening. There is also a playground and grass area right there, too.

Scenic spot
Takarunga, also known as Mount Victoria, is a picturesque mountaintop park offering stunning panoramic views of Auckland's skyline, the harbor, and the surrounding islands. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely walk or drive to the summit or opt for a Segway tour for a unique experience. The area features an old disappearing gun at the peak and is accessible from Devonport ferry terminal with just a 30-minute walk.
It's a decently manageable hike (around 10-15 minutes of mild slopes) to the top for magnificent views over the city. Other than the fact that being in Devonport makes this slightly less accessible, I'd argue that this offers a much better experience and far better views compared to Mount Eden.
Ziyuan W — Google review
Mount Victoria is one of those spots that feels like a hidden gem, even though it’s right near the city. The walk to the top isn’t long, and the views over Auckland and the harbour are stunning—especially at sunset. It’s honestly one of the best places in the city to watch the sun go down. The area is peaceful, and there’s some interesting history with the old military bunkers too. Great for visitors or locals looking for a quiet, scenic spot.
Nimantha J — Google review
This is one of the most stunning viewpoints in Auckland. From the summit you get sweeping panoramic views of the city skyline, Rangitoto Island, and the Hauraki Gulf. It is especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset, when the sky lights up in golden colours and the harbour comes alive with ferries, yachts, and ships. The climb is short but a little steep, whether you walk or drive, and the open grassy summit is perfect for relaxing or having a picnic while you take in the scenery. Despite being close to the city, it feels peaceful and spacious, with plenty of room to enjoy the views without feeling crowded. Tips for visiting: • Sunset and sunrise give the most dramatic views. • Comfortable shoes are recommended if walking up. • Bring a camera, because the lookout is one of the most photogenic spots in Auckland. Overall: Takarunga / Mount Victoria is a must-visit landmark. It combines cultural significance, natural beauty, and unbeatable views of Auckland. I would highly recommend it to both visitors and locals, and I will happily return again.

Panoramic views from Devonport await you atop after a short tramp. There is an historic gun emplacement there that exhibit a part of how Auckland was protected before more advanced systems. Also atop is a radar station and antenna mast that provide a landmark for direction when finding your way about the greater area. There is also a sculpted bronze relief map that shows what is seen in the distance.

Saumya B — Google review
You can reach the Mount Victoria by taking a ferry from Downtown Auckland to Devonport. It took a 15-minute walk from the pier to the top of the mountain. Needless to say, the view from the top of this park is beyond compare. It provides a panorama view of the Auckland Bay Area and the sunset there was simply breathtaking. If you are a landscape photographer, you should visit this park instead of the overrated and overpriced Sky Tower.
Anthony L — Google review
The view here is spectacular to say the least, such rich history, I recommend families to bring their kids here to appreciate what sacrifices were made in our troubled past. Just to see those guns and the struggles armies around the world had to go through fighting for freedom. Parking is at the bottom and you have to complete an easy walk to reach the summit. Smiths Bush is a beautiful ancient native forest near the city center, featuring enormous puriri trees and tall kahikatea and totara trees. The raised flat wooden walking path allows people of all abilities to enjoy this natural paradise. However, its proximity to the motorway means that visitors can hear native insects and birds amidst the noise from the road, which may detract from the peacefulness of the experience.
Stayed in Takapuna on our last day in New Zealand and wanted a nice little bushwalk before we left. This one was nice, informative and very peaceful. You can hear cars but also can hear and see lots of birds, including a tui that really liked flying right past my head near the entrance twice and then posing. Didn't take long to walk but enough to take your time and immerse yourself. The path is sturdy and well taken care of.
Waffocopter — Google review
Have lived in the area for a decade and went there for the first time with my grandchildren. What a find! An excellent little forest in the middle of suburbia, wonderful short walk for the kids with some interesting little spots for them. The bird life is quite special for where it is! Boardwalks are sturdy and plenty of benches to sit on and take it in. A good find.
Grant H — Google review
Hidden gem, took the dogs who loved it and there were special trees around the space. You can unfortunately hear the roar of the motorway but an easy flat boardwalk round. Probably easier to park when there are no games being played in the field.

Smith's Bush is an absolute hidden gem, tucked in between the cricket 🏏club and motorway 🚕🚗 The well maintained, flat, raised, wooden platform keeps people off the tree roots 🌴 and enables people of all abilities 👩‍🦽 and people with pushchairs to easily enjoy this oasis, so close to the city 🙂 I thought the motorway noise would be distracting 😫 but the trees shelter the noise, and the low hum of traffic is actually soothing 😌 background noise to the beautiful birdsong 🐦 There are benches every few dozen meters. It's a very comfortable walk 🚶‍♀️ It would be nice if it were a loop track, but you have to back track 👣
Joanie B — Google review
Nice and easy walk with benches provided to have a cheeky rest when you need it. Stroller friendly too!
Najh — Google review
Smiths Bush is one of the six ancient forests to explore in Auckland. The Auckland urban area was once covered in lush, tall forest. The legacy of this majestic world remains in only a few precious patches around Auckland, many of which are easily accessible and well worth a visit. Kahikatea forests are found in locations with high water tables, such as wet depressions and flat terraces beside major watercourses. These same landforms are perfect for farming and building houses so kahikatea forests have been almost entirely cleared from urban Auckland. One of the best examples left is is Smiths Bush, a green urban oasis of soaring trees and raucous tūī, right beside the northern motorway. Nestled within the kahikatea is a magnificent stand of pūriri. The forest is almost rectangular in shape with very large, mature pūriri trees dominant in the centre. Large taraire, kowhai, titoki, karaka, tawa, matai, miro and tōtara are also present in the canopy. Surrounding the pūriri-dominated forest is a dense stand of kahikatea . Smaller trees and shrubs growing beneath the canopy include mahoe, hangehange, kawakawa and several Coprosma species. Pūriri is an essential tree to Māori, who use it for various purposes. The wood is durable and rugged, making it useful for carving, furniture, and buildings.

It was nice 15 minutes walking around the track. Looks very clean. Very easy to walk around. No public toilet. Native trees.

Gills Scenic Reserve offers a delightful retreat with its picturesque surroundings. This tranquil park features a sturdy picnic bench and an expansive grassy area, creating the perfect setting for relaxation. Visitors will be pleasantly surprised by the presence of a charming waterfall, which adds to the park's allure. It is worth noting that certain sections are currently inaccessible due to Kauri dieback disease, but there are still enjoyable tracks available for exploration.
It's a steep track to the top (not the waterfall, that's only a few minutes walk from the start) but is very solidly built. A few sections are closed due to Kauri dieback but a loop to the top of Carol Lee / Quail Drive is open. Requires some physical fitness as it's about a 90m+ climb.

Shaded by dense trees, this trail stays cool even on hot days, offering lovely views through the foliage and a surprising waterfall in the lower section. While most paths appear to have been well-maintained, the northwest section has a few fallen trees overhead and unfenced drop-offs. Not suitable for kids.

Park
Nestled in the charming Beach Haven area of Auckland's Northshore, Shepherds Park is a delightful destination for outdoor lovers and families alike. This expansive park pays homage to the Shepherd family, who tended to the land for generations. With its lush native bush and well-maintained bike tracks, it invites visitors to explore its natural beauty while engaging in various recreational activities.
Park is well maintained. Great for kids to play in the playground. Creche is lovely. Great to do workouts, but only problem is some people bring their dogs 🐶🐕& leave them unsupervised which is sometimes dangerous because I was attacked by a dangerous dog while doing my workouts.

Lovely park and football fields. Came here recently with the family to watch sons football game. A couple of levels of football fields and amazing clubrooms. Lots of play areas dotted here and there for the kiddies and paths for walkers, runners and dog walkers. All surrounded in trees. Very pretty and immaculately kept. Also tennis and squash courts. Recommend 👍👌❤️

A calm and quiet place, ideal for a walk and spending some time in the evenings.
Sasi N — Google review
perfect walking road, you can find many surprises . There are often many children and adults holding football games on weekends, which can find a perfect balance between people and nature.

Went down to watch Birkenhead FC for football. Handily placed off the 97B/R bus routes, it’s a doddle to walk down to the park. Parking spacious and with the football pitches, can become busy, however there was stacks of room for this 5.30pm kick off and despite the cool weather, there is a lot of space for all and clearly a great place when warm for families and those playing sport alike.
Gavin P — Google review
Awesome park for dogs and people. Has multiple bush walks going to different areas including a bridge over the water that they've redone and looks new. Large fields with soccer going on at least one of them every other time. Just be careful with very little dogs. Some people just won't keep their big ones on a leash that are prone to chasing or being aggressive to small dogs.

Lots of friendly people wth their pets there. Great place for people, young and old to do a few laps there.

Love this little spot for a picnic on a hot day! Kell Park has everything you need and more: plenty of shade, public toilets, ample parking and pushchair/wheelchair accessible pathways. Dogs are allowed off leash year round (although mind the free range chickens!) Albany library is just alongside so perfect to grab a book and read in the shade. There is a small playground (suitable for younger children) in the main park - or follow the pathway in either direction for a short bush walk to the big slide and flying fox (flying fox was out of order when we visited Jan 2024). For older children there isn’t a lot to do here - though the flying fox if working would be a good draw. We visit this park fairly frequently and it is never busy.

Kell park is a wonderful green area for a nice evening walk. It's not very broad yet a good strip of land for a relaxing walk after hard day's work.

What a lovely walk. Through bush and native trees. It's not so good for wheelchairs or prams if you walk from playground.

Today, I wandered through Albany, Auckland, as the final days of autumn gently unfolded around me. The air carried a soft chill—just enough to hint that winter was near—yet the world was still wrapped in the warm tones of the season. The path was scattered with fallen leaves in shades of rust, gold, and amber, forming a natural tapestry beneath my feet. With every step, there was a soft crunch—a quiet rhythm marking the changing season. Trees stood tall, some nearly bare, others still holding onto their last bursts of color, as if reluctant to let go of autumn’s charm. By a calm body of water, ducks glided smoothly, their reflections rippling in the gentle light. A small group of pigeons lifted into the sky, wings catching the breeze, circling above before settling again. There was a quiet harmony in their motion, a peaceful joy in simply existing within this changing world. Among the trees, a few stood out—perhaps fruit trees—displaying the final blaze of autumn’s fire. Their leaves, bright red and golden yellow, were scattered in circles around their trunks. It was striking to see such vivid colors resting on fresh green grass, as if the earth was celebrating one last burst of color before winter's hush. It was a moment of stillness and motion all at once—leaves drifting, birds flying, water flowing. Everything felt alive, yet calm. As I walked, I felt grounded, reminded that even in the quiet turn of seasons, beauty is everywhere, waiting to be noticed.

A very convenient and relaxing place for the neighborhood. Reasonable walking distance, pet friendly. A small playground for kids. Nice place to walk the dogs.
Daisy H — Google review
A true hidden gem that is too easy to drive past. Maybe not the biggest park, but it does make up for it with the walkways which should be easy for the majority of people. I would have given 5 stars, but it seriously needs the playground updated. It is too dated and lacking.
David O — Google review
Such a hidden gem in Albany. It's always a treat for me and my pup to visit when we're in the area. There's a nice board walk, bridge, river/stream where ducks and geese seem to hang around, and an open field to play with.

Nature preserve
Mt. Cambria Reserve offers a serene escape in the charming coastal town of Devonport. Nestled within the remnants of the Mt. Cambria volcano, this picturesque reserve boasts beautifully landscaped gardens, providing a tranquil setting for visitors to unwind and connect with nature.
Lovely reserve to explore. Great view of Takarunga (Mt Victoria). And the kowhai tree is blooming (October).

came here to draw something today ☺️ it has some beautiful little roads where you can walk and it has a lot of trees. it is so peaceful ❤️

So pleased and surprised to discover this park, having visited Devonport regularly all my life this was the first time I'd been to Cambria Reserve and it's lovely. A small park (great for a short walk or some informal recreation) there's plenty of open space, but also plenty of tree cover and some interesting plants. It's the remnants of a volcanic cone which was sadly quarried into oblivion but the evidence of the old volcano are clearly visible.
Mary B — Google review
A wonderful place for free dog play and exercise. The majority of it is fenced in and the park is substantial so my dogs have never felt the need to wander off. Plenty of shady places under trees or in the gazebos on hot sunny days, a dispenser for doggy doo bags at the entry. The only thing to note is that the park has a number of Karaka trees and in the warmer summer months the berries drop and are toxic to dogs. Monitoring needed around this season.
Stacy B — Google review
Mount Cambria is a spectacular former hill, the adjacent museum is a pleasant spot to get a quick look back in time. The park is very popular for afternoon strollers and dog walkers, so bring your furry friend

Seriously we have found our new location for new years....very convenient to the water, showers and toilets are all so close and the park was right outside our tent lol the locals were so friendly and laughed when they saw that we islanders rocked up with a couch....yup a couch lol we had our tents, kayaks, bbq all set up but we made sure to have room for other families. The rubbish collector was so awesome taking away our rubbish at the end of the day but we took the rest. Rubbish bins and bags for dogs waste was available so that was awesome too. And because we were a massive family we left the place spotless. All the kids helped out too. We made sure it was better looking before we left and that meant picking up all the Nerf bullets lol Parking was awesome as it was just 30 seconds to my car and there are multiple streets to part on as well as the main road, gas station is only 100 meteres away. The beach itself was so beautiful, clean and very spacious. To the locals thank you so much for being nice to us we know were a big family but you guys were awesome to talk to :) see you guys next year :)

Cool skatepark with loads of steps, ledges and interesting spaces to learn skills. Two pools and a great play area for little ones.
Benno S — Google review
Felt a bit like Edward and Bella in the meadow. But the cult vibe was defenitely prominant. There was so many weird dumping grounds which was a shame to see. A lot of feijoa long whites and cheese flavored dorito packets everywhere. Oddly a lot of potato and gravy around too.
Jade R — Google review
We love taking the children here. Besides having a clean and safe public toilet, it has great facilities for kids of ALL ages. Play slides and swings for the little ones, to skateboard pools and a great SPARK basketball court.
Rene L — Google review
Good playground, basketball court and skate bowl.
Victoria W — Google review
We wait here whilst the hubby daydreams at Mitre 10. Son loves going on his scooter but not much of a playground. Sometimes the toilets are in a decent state. Otherwise go before you arrive.
Mollie B — Google review
We had an impromptu picnic here. Lovely spot. Kids had fun on the playground and the skate park. A public toilet avaliable and plenty of shade if needed.
Sarah P — Google review
Wow weeeeeeeeee! Skatepark with a lot of variety, bowls, pipe and street style. Game basketball court. A second basketball half-court. Plenty of green, trees and a small but easy enough trail/walk through the bush. Picnic benches, BBQ, public bathroom. Playground with all the goods. Massive parking lot. A short walk across to the BMX track nearby. Could be better with a playground upgrade, shade and better seating for BBQ etc.
D P — Google review
It depends on what age your kids are as to if this playground is suitable. It has a skate park so naturally older kids and teens use it so sometimes there is an element of bad language and behaviour. The playground is average but the skate park seems good. There are public toilets here.
