Rummers Wine Bar is a charming and lively spot located across from the harbor. The interior exudes a historic feel with excellent design, creating a cozy atmosphere. While it may not have an extensive drink selection, it offers everything one could want and often features weekly promotions. Despite being a bit limited on seating during busy nights, the friendly staff and live music on weekends make it worth visiting early to secure a seat.
A great place with lovely staff and a great atmosphere, our favourite place to go on a night out with friends and societies, even just for a chill quiz night it’s easy to have a great time and you can tell a lot of thought and effort goes into everything

Went in and paid for fish fingers and chips. The chips were cold and still hard (frozen) and the fish fingers was raw. We sent the food back and they told us that we would not get a refund but head office will call us. This was last August (2024). Head office did not call us yet they claimed that they did once. (we called countless times) when we went back in to speak to management they said that there was nothing wrong with the food. It was literally frozen!! Absolute shambles of a place. The rude manager put his hand in my mother's face and told her to leave. He then called the police who said that this is a civil matter and they will not get involved (suprise, suprise). They called the police because we complained about fish finger and chips being frozen. The staff and management was nothing short of rude and would not take responsibility for their mistake. If you decide to go in here I hope it's a sunny day so you can go outside and thaw your still frozen meal. One star is too many for this absolutely terrible establishment. If I could swear I would. My mother is 75 and the manager shoved his hand in her face. He should be ashamed of himself.

Rummers Wine Bar is an absolute treasure. From the moment you step in, you're greeted with a warm, relaxed atmosphere that perfectly balances rustic charm with modern comfort. The location by the river is unbeatable – especially in the summer, when the outdoor seating area is the perfect spot to unwind with a drink and watch the world go by. The drinks selection is excellent – a great range of wines, craft beers, and local spirits, all served with knowledge and a smile. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and genuinely seem to care about your experience. On weekends, the live music creates a lively, buzzing vibe without ever feeling overcrowded. It’s easily one of the best spots in Aberystwyth. Can’t recommend it highly enough!

Love this place and always stop in when I’m in Aber for a night out! Great music and cocktails. Went for a meal with the family too and we were really well looked after by the friendly staff

Lovely place and even nicer staff. Very friendly and made us feel very special and welcome. The live music event in the evening was the cherry on the top. Overall, a great night out!

Always an amazing atmosphere, whether it’s going on a night out with societies, or just grabbing a drink with friends, I always have a good time. Most underrated beer garden in aber!

Just the one night visit in Aberystwyth, Friday at the "rummers" was a lovely gem that we stumbled upon, there was almost 3hrs of live entertainment from the " smoking guns " creating a great atmosphere. Don't be fooled by the "wine bar" it serves a good range of ales and has a varied stock of cans from the "Tiny rebel" brewery, and as for the wine they have a selection of Welsh vineyard houses for you to choose.

The Academy is a large pub located in an old church, featuring two bars including the 'chapel bar.' It's popular among the younger crowd and offers a relaxed atmosphere with pool tables, TVs, and comfortable sofas. The venue has friendly bar staff and fast service despite getting crowded at times. With a newly opened upstairs area, it provides a variety of drinks at reasonable prices.
A brilliant nightclub in Aberystwyth. Games room to the side. Great DJ on a Friday. Night is called Thank f👀k it's Friday, and the DJs RhythmMattic and Mickey Blue Eyes 😎🎧

Appalling service. Visited this establishment at this time, although I discussed my issues with the manager, they apparently came up with their own version of events. So this is mine. We waited half an hour for service, after trying to signal the bartenders’ attention due to the fact he already served us and we looked like we already had our drinks. We weren’t sure he realised we wanted to be served, so we “shouted” once and smiled and asked if we could have service (the music was on, so we were not sure he would hear), and he regarded this as inappropriate behaviour. I work in a bar and I don’t regard this as an issue, so he deliberately avoided us for a further 20 minutes. I asked him why he wasn’t serving us and he said “you’ll have to wait your turn” to which I said “have we done anything that offended you?” And he said “you asked for service” (which is obviously a bad thing, considering the wait), to which I said “I am sorry, we didn’t mean to” and he responded “you will still have to wait”, proceeding to smile gloatingly. He worked around us, serving new customers instead of us. If you want to get ignored by extremely rude staff, this is the place for you.
Caitlin T — Google review
Great for younger generation on a night out. Located within an old church with 2 bars, including the "chapel bar". Fairly fast service, even though it can get immensely crowded (however, not as crowded as Y Not (aka Yoko's)

Massive place, over 2 rooms. Plenty of pool tables and cheap drinks. Great music and atmosphere. Friendly bar staff. Like going back to the 90's heights of brit pop.

The Royal Pier Arcade in Aberystwyth, Wales, is a historic landmark that offers a serene stroll along the Cardigan Bay. The pier has been an integral part of the town's development, featuring various amenities such as restaurants, arcades, snooker clubs, nightclubs, pubs, and ice-cream parlors. Visitors can also enjoy the scenic beauty of lampposts glowing under moonlight at night.
Great place to get a drink and play games watch the football and sit outside and watch the world go by while listening to the DJ bang out some top tunes.
The K — Google review
It's a pier with arcades at £2 a go, and 3 or 4 drinking areas. Very crowded. Had fish and chips, quite a long wait and chips were quite dry. Worth a visit but don't waste any money.
James H — Google review
We love the Pier at Aberystwyth. It's got a real good-time vibe about it. Fish & Chips, music, pool, snooker, shuffle board, table tennis - plus a huge arcade of games. Enjoy happy hour, have a few drinks and enjoy games with the family. If you have a moment and your visit is during fine weather, check out the fine views and spectacular sunsets along with fine views of the beach. Aberystwyth really does have it all and manages to feel unique without being tacky. The Pier is traditional, but combines a modern vibe at the same time. Highly recommended. Edit to add some constructive criticism: Whilst we all enjoy Aberystwyth Pier, the toilets - at the Snooker hall end - have a tendency to be grim. This is a real shame. It's not just that the toilets are old - they aren't looked after properly, are leaking, and can be smelt from the snooker tables. This isn't the sort of image the Pier needs and it really should be remedied ASAP.
Horatio H — Google review
Great place to go for a well deserved beverage alcoholic or otherwise after a long walk across the beautiful pier. Great choice of food on offer and activities within for people of all ages to enjoy. Can sit outside on the pier with a cold drink in hand enjoying the sunset on a perfect summers evening.

If your in Aberystwyth & you feel hungry, I would suggest you look elsewhere! Why, because not only is the food served in here, typical frozen catering fare, budget! But...the scandalous! racket, which once you've purchased your, value deep fried frozen, popcorn chicken or nuggets, you are then informed, if you want a tiny pot of ketchup, approx McDonald's size pot, you have to pay £1.00!!! What!! Probably 10-15cc in size. Outrageous. I suggest,if your desperate to eat here, then bring your own ketchup or mayo. Pier Pressure is a vibrant club located on the famous Aberystwyth Pier. It's known for its lively atmosphere, featuring popular DJs and themed nights. While some visitors mention occasional security issues due to overcrowding, many have fond memories of the place, including proposals and chance encounters with interesting people. The club has recently undergone refurbishment, sparking hope for an improved experience. Despite mixed reviews about the interior and noise levels, it remains a nostalgic favorite for many who have made unforgettable memories there.

The beer was very expensive but you're paying for the location. Bar service was good and friendly. The view of the town was really great from the rear bar deck. We didn't try the food but it didn't look very exciting. You have to visit, of course!
John S — Google review
Not a very good experience, if you want to be told off for having fun then go here. Refused service at the bar by the manager as we were too loud playing beer pong… (I’ve never heard a quiet game of beer pong) only had 2 drinks & were told we were not to have anymore as we were too rambunctious… disappointing for a games bar inviting you to have fun in a student bar

Went to pier pressure on a stag do, met the most amazing women! I think their names were Catherine and Poppy, atmosphere after I met them was really good! Really recommend

There is a bouncer called David that is very unprofessional and gave the middle finger as I drove past and is just flat out rude and trans phobic and homophobic do not go there if you’re part of the LGBT and the an deputy manager was quite rude and unhelpful
Skye D — Google review
My son and his friends went here last Saturday, yes they'd been drinking and got into a scuffle with other lad, that was known to the bouncers but the bouncers dragged them out and away from the cameras and gave them a good kicking, even restricted my sons breathing by kneeling on his windpipe until he nearly lost consciousness. They were also very rough with the 2 girls that were with them. Bouncers are supposed to defuse a situation and escort people out not beat them up!!! Owners need to be responsible for their actions.
Sally S — Google review
Went with a group of us and all paid entry fee, within 5 minutes bouncers decided they wanted one of my pals kicked out and banned for apparently 'being on coke'. We've never touched the stuff and were borderline sober when your bouncer decided to have what I can only imagine was a power trip. Have enjoyed this club everytime i've visited however I'll be making sure none of my friends come back.
AJEdge ( — Google review
I was just outside with some of my friends and witnessed 2 what I'd assume were bouncers physically throw a small girl face first onto the floor. We asked what happend and it seemed absolutely outrageous to do that to someone who wasn't and didn't seem to be that physical. We don't know what happend or the full story but that is still disgusting behaviour to do that to any other human being.

The Vale of Rheidol Railway is an enchanting 12-mile Edwardian railway offering first-class carriages and an audio tour, traversing hillside woodlands. This narrow gauge railway, which originally served local industries, now provides a delightful journey for visitors to immerse themselves in the stunning Ceredigion scenery. The hour-long ride winds through mountains, fields, and woodland in the Rheidol Valley before reaching Devils Bridge.
Visited on Thursday, 04th September 2025. Bought a return ticket to Devils Bridge on a rainy day. I was staying in town and took a short trip across town to the Vale of Rheidol Railway Station in Aberystwyth. My train ticket inc access to the new Engine Shed, but my wife, who wasn't going on the train, had to pay £5 for Engine Shed access only, which was fair enough IMO. Car parking is chargeable at the end of your journey, and there was plenty of it at the station. The VoR station is about 300 yards from the mainline station if you're coming by train. The ticket office encompasses a well-stocked shop inc a model train running above your head around the ticket office/shop, and you have to pick up a paper ticket even if you have purchased your ticket online. Don't lose this as the guard wants to see and clip it before the start and return journeys.. There is also a café I didn't go to, but the engine shed is brilliant inc the lovely block flooring, smell as well as the Southern Railway front transported from London. The platforms provide views of the carriage and engine sheds. The whole site is in great condition and has obviously had a lot of money spent on it. The toilets are magnificent. My service was at 12:15, and I witnessed the engine being prepped in advance. It was raining, but this made the engine appear even more magnificent. I, along with a few hardy souls, chose the open carriages behind the loco, which I would recommend on the journey to Devils Bridge and stay in the same for the return journey, so you get both experiences, i.e. front and back of the train. The journey itself was lovely and provided stunning views, and being near the engine, you get to hear the effort on the way to Devils Bridge (we pretty much coast on the journey back down). a little shop/ticket office with refreshments at Devils Bridge as well as toilets, but not much else, but you can walk to the nearby 3 Bridges walks, though I recommend you stick to the short walk if you want to get back on the return journey rather than wait for the one 3 hours later. Reasonable price for a great day out.
Jeffrey S — Google review
The driver who lovingly cleans and cares for this amazing steam engine obviously loves his job. It is a very memorable train journey. The train is exceedingly beautiful hand painted ceilings opulent seating. Leather pulls for windows. Fantastic train going back in time : we were seated in first class. However, we were not aware it is a bit of a trek to begin the waterfall visit so much so that if you take to 2pm train and want your first class seat returning there simply is not enough time to visit. Such a shame wish I’d booked much earlier train and was informed of this.
DIANA O — Google review
Booked for a birthday - 4 of us travelled. Pre book tickets as it does get booked up. What a beautiful train & stunning journey through the gorgeous Welsh countryside. Highly recommend a trip on this fab railway. The museum is also worth a visit, as is the onsite cafe. Lovely service and reasonable prices.
Nicki C — Google review
I love the Vale of Rheidol railway, they are always finding ways to improve the customer experience, the only downside was the facilities at devils bridge, there used to be a cafe there but no longer and for someone who can only walk short distances it was a struggle to go down to the bridge to see the falls (seen several time before). Even the chocolate shop was over crowded (as expected) But overall I did enjoy myself as the weather was perfect. I initially came for the exhibition which was incredible, well done VoR.
Pete W — Google review
Fantastic! Has to be one of the best railway journeys in the UK! We travelled on a wet September day and we thoroughly enjoyed the trip to Devil's Bridge. The rain kind of added a great atmosphere and plenty water in the waterfalls. The journey was both relaxing and exhilarating with great views down the valley and it was hilarious watching some sheep run along behind and beside the carriage. The sounds and atmosphere was special. It was then a short walk to Devil's Bridge where we climbed down a steep set of steps to the waterfalls and captured some photos of this amazing structure. (P.S. You don't have to climb down the steps to see the bridges. There is a viewing point at top). We then had time for a nice coffee and cake in the coffee shop beside the bridge before heading back to the train. So glad we did this! I would highly recommend this as a top attraction to visit.
Paul S — Google review
What an amazing day out! The steam train ride was such a unique experience — as soon as the engine started up, with the whistle blowing and the steam drifting through the air, it felt like being transported to another time. The carriages had so much character, and the whole journey had this wonderful nostalgic feel that you just don’t get anywhere else. The scenery along the route was beautiful, with rolling countryside, little villages, and plenty of spots that made me want to grab my camera. The gentle rhythm of the train and the sound of the engine made the ride so relaxing but also really exciting at the same time. It’s the kind of outing that leaves you smiling long after it’s over. Whether you’re into trains or not, the whole atmosphere makes it a special and memorable experience. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something a bit different, and I’d jump at the chance to go again!
Joshua B — Google review
It’s years since I last travelled on the Vale of Rheidol railway - what an experience!! Around every corner there’s another “wow”. Very comfortable journey, views in every direction out of clean windows. The Aberystwyth station has everything: a great museum, and a fabulous cafe! The Devil’s Bridge end of the line is under further development, but there is a great shop across the road selling chocolate, odds and ends and hot drinks. A grand day out!!
Tony B — Google review
The narrow guage railway runs from the seaside town of Aberystwyth along the vale of Rheidol Valley steadily climbing upwards from just 14 feet above sea level to over 650 feet. There are some stunning views along the way,the journey takes approximately 1 hour. On arrival at Devils Bridge station, the train waits for an hour before returning to Aberystwyth. Passengers have time to visit the nearby Devils Bridge attraction to see the gorge and waterfalls. You will only have time to visit the top section of the attraction in the hour the train waits, to do the complete tour take an early train and take a later train back down. For those not going to the attraction the railway serves drinks and snacks and has toilet facilities. There also time to take photos, look at their steam locomotive and perhaps visit the lovely chocolate shop just over the road. There are also some picnic tables to use. It's also possible to start your journey from Devils Bridge,it has a car park with a daily charge of £4. At Aberystwyth station there is a railway museum with a great collections of locomotives on display from tiny engines to huge tender locomotives, it well worth visiting. There is also a cafe and toilet facilities. An adult return trip costs £30 if booked online and £35 at the door, they have a lovely first class observation coach which costs £52.50 online & £56 on the door. My recommendation would be to take standard class in the downward journey as the loco is right in front, pay the £12 upgrade to travel 1st class on the way up, you'll be at the back and get the most stunning views in armchair seats. A standard return trip for kids is just £6 and under 3's are free. The railway offers discount for groups if 20 or more. It really is a beautiful trip and makes a full day out with a visit to Devils Bridge Gorge and a tour of the museum at Aberystwyth and lunch at the cafe.

This inviting establishment offers a warm atmosphere where visitors can indulge in hearty meals and enjoy a selection of beverages. Known for its welcoming vibe, The White Horse stands out as a must-visit destination for those looking to experience authentic flavors while soaking up the rich heritage of the area.
A lovely atmosphere with music that doesn't hurt the ear drums. There is an ample choice of food and offers on the menu. Not too busy which was nice but a steady flow of people. There is seating upstairs and downstairs so plenty to choose from. The food wait wasn't too long at at all and everything was cooked to a good standard. Clean, classy and welcoming. A great little high street pub that doesn't break the bank 😀 Great job

Plenty of choices on the menu and prices are very reasonable. However, we did have a very long wait (approx 45 mins) for what were quite simple dishes. But the food was ok and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed.

If you are in Aberystwyth, don't go to the 'Spoons, come to The White Horse instead! The beer is kept and poured to perfection and the food is so delicious, the meat is sourced from the local butcher and the desserts are phenomenal! The staff couldn't be more helpful and accommodating, and the toilets are spotless! I can't speak highly enough of this place!

So I ordered The chippy feast... That contained fish & Chips & Curry sauce and mushy peas and Tartare sauce with a battered sosuage. The sosuage was far to small also not enough chips to go with all the different sauces so £11 sounds good but I hope they start adding more chips to the plate. Maybe the don't need to include curry sauce when mushy pease is already on the plate so they instead of wasting money on Curry sauce then make it so it has more chips. They see to waste plate space with all the different sauces is that because they don't like adding chips ? Service was slow considering not many in the pub. All that said the food was delicious and friendly staff.

We came with a voucher that we had been given by our son, for a meal for 2. The waiter, James, wasn’t aware of the deal but he went above and beyond to ensure that we were sorted out. He was very attentive and polite and also interested in us as customers, which is a refreshing change nowadays. Thanks James for your attention.

Neat looking pub. We had 3 starters to share. Nachos were cold and not good. Wings were ok but just put on a plate and covered in cold bbq sauce. Onion rings were just average. Server never offered us plates and we ate over our napkins. Noting special here folks.

I recently visited The White Horse in Aberystwyth and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the full breakfast was fantastic. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the sausages were flavorful, and the accompanying beans, mushrooms, and toast were delicious. It was hearty, well-prepared, and truly satisfying. However, the bacon sandwich left something to be desired. The bacon was a bit too dry chewy, and lacked the crispiness that one would expect. It seemed slightly underwhelming compared to the otherwise excellent full breakfast. Overall, The White Horse is a great place for a hearty breakfast, but the bacon sandwich could use some improvement. I'd still recommend giving it a try for the friendly atmosphere and the overall quality of their breakfast offerings.

Dropped in for lunch without a reservation on a Saturday, table for two seated straight away. I would probably recommend booking if you want a guaranteed table. Food is fine but I would say not worth the asking price,I enjoyed the minute steak but £24 worth I'll let you make your own mind up from the picture. Next time we are in town we will probably try somewhere different.

Visited on Wednesday, 03rd September 2025, for the second time, but first in the evening. Located on the seafront as a location, it can't be bettered. We didn't book a table, and the only one left was not in the main seating area, so we couldn't enjoy the lovely views from the rotunda-style windows. As it was, the menu is quite limited, but it is more of a bar/café, so that's fine. It's a bit pricey, but it had some stunning Pizza. Limited alcohol and none on draft, unfortunately. Friendly staff and a fun atmosphere.

Located right at on the station concourse. Typical Spoons. Nice atmosphere, staff are great, you can sit and have dinner or lunch or breakfast and watch the trains.

me and my family ordered cheesy chips. they come really fast with hardly any cheese on it. then one of my family members asked for more cheese and got charged 2£ extra from the 15£ we already paid.
Ella H — Google review
Large spoons connected to railway station, good outside space on what was railway platforms. Good hot food, but one of the more expensive due to location. Just around the corner from here is retail park with 3 hour free parking. Spoons is quite noisy due to size of seating area.
Adrian W — Google review
Nice pub right on the train station with all you would expect from a typical wetherspoons, excellent value & a decent atmosphere quite popular with students locals. A fair number of seating booths that are well positioned if you like to be slightly away from the crowd. Overall a decent night out & the food is pretty good.
Michael D — Google review
Breakfast pretty decent, although they wouldn't allow me to swap out the tomatoes for toast as most other Wetherspoons do. Cider (Black Dragon and Old Rosie) were available, but not in the usual boxed form, instead they were on a pull which destroys the taste. All other Wetherspoons I have ever been in keep these two STILL ciders in their original boxes from Westons.
John K — Google review
The young woman who brought my drink couldn't speak or smile. She needs some training or maybe she was having an off day. She served me twice. I said thank you but no response from her. Barman was pleasant enough. I won't return.

We sat outside Wetherspoons on the pavement as we know inside was not dog friendly, was told that the premises was not dog friendly even on the pavement outside. Plenty to of other dog friendly pubs including the Hoptamist, Vale of Rheidol, The White horse which we were willing to spend our money eating and drinking.

The Glengower is a charming Victorian building located at the end of the promenade in Aberystwyth. It offers classic seaside rooms, many with sea views, and retains original features from its past as two old seafront villas. The welcoming atmosphere includes an open fire and rustic furniture, with large bay windows overlooking the sea. The family-friendly waterfront pub serves standard British fare and local ales, creating a chilled-out ambience for visitors to enjoy.
We had such a lovely night's stay at the Glengower hotel last week. Everything was perfect. The food was delicious and I had a Greek salad for the first time ever, which was amazing! The bed was very comfortable and we had the lovely sound of the waves lapping the shore all night, which was nice and comforting. The staff were attentive and polite. The rooms and the whole hotel was freshly decorated and spotlessly clean. We would highly recommend the Glengower for a stay.
Rupert P — Google review
Great service and excellent location. We ordered pork with crackling which did not appear on the plate. The pork we believe had previously been frozen as it had that frozen taste on it. Probably from a previous serving and definitely not fresh. The vegetables were fine with adequate roasties and boiled. These were accompanied by red cabbage and a few carrots and broccoli. Must admit we’ve had much better elsewhere and far cheaper
Phillip W — Google review
Went here for food. It was really busy but the staff were great and got us seated in the bar area without issue. I opted for the burger and it was superb. Well cooked and very tasty. Service was prompt and friendly and the bar has a great range of drinks available. I have stayed here before and would again, unfortunately on this visit I ended up staying elsewhere which simply wasn’t up to a cut of the Glengower. Easy to recommend.

I could not be happier with my stay in the glengower hotel, Aberystwyth. The double room was spacious with a fantastic view overlooking the sea. The bed was very comfortable. The staff were extremely helpful and polite. The breakfast next morning was simply delicious. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a stay in this delightful seaside town.

Nice room, small but adequate. Comfortable bed, with nice linen. Sea view, which was lovely. Breakfast was good, plenty of it. Unfortunately no lift, and I was on 3rd floor, so lots of stairs. No telephone in room to reception. Would I stay again? ...Possibly.
Elizabeth J — Google review
I wasn't a fan of the vapid student parti pub of the 90s so nobody is more surprised than myself to be giving the old Glen a rave review but now we've both matured, one can't deny the appeal of its latest incarnation. Beautifully appointed and comfortable rooms with well chosen wall art, many with sea views, and an excellent restaurant and bar area downstairs for relaxed dining and drinks. The staff are great, everyone who served us here was pleasant and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Downsides: it's an old building that will never meet modern accessibility standards, so expect stairs all over. And you'll have to be quick or lucky to get a bench out front when it's fine.
Ade R — Google review
My family and I did a two week vacation in the uk and decided to do a roadtrip from London to Edinburgh and back. This was one of our stops. The places in Wales have quite the tongue twister of names that you find yourself almost having an aneurysm trying to recall especially the ones you’ve been to. But, that said, it was quite an adventure for us and the Glengower stood out as one of the best stops we made. The location was great and we had two sea view rooms which were quite cozy. The staff were very helpful and professional about everything. Definitely highly recommended!
Mariah R — Google review
Fantastic pub, family and dog friendly. We went for a Sunday roast and was not disappointed. The children's menu is great with a good variety of popular meals. Great price and atmosphere. Very close to Constitution Hill, we enjoyed a walk over to The Glengower from Clarach Bay and took advantage of the Cliff Railway going up, on the way back.

If you're looking for a lively spot in Aberystwyth, The Cambrian is the place to be! This vibrant pub not only boasts an energetic atmosphere but also features fantastic live music that showcases local talent. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite or planning a night out with friends, The Cambrian offers an impressive selection of beers and ales to complement your experience.
Popped in for lunch with my children and mum. Much better atmosphere than the spoons over the road! The lady on the bar was lovely and even sorted some colouring for my daughters. The food was really tasty. Both my mum and I had the Guinness pie, it was so good! Children's menu was good value for money and all decent sized portions too.

What’s not go love about this pub? The staff are top knotch. The food is top knotch. They have a pool table and dartboard which is also top knotch. They play great music which is… you guessed it - Top knotch! One of the main men behind the bar happened to be an old of mine from many years ago. You’d expect this review to be a bit biased then wouldn’t you? But no, this is the god honest truth about the pub. The main man’s knowledge, dedication and care for his customers is second to none. Also hearing that many of the staff here have been with them for decades, it shows the care they recieve from their owners - classy. And I haven’t even said a word about the food yet! Well here we go! I was recommended to have the Ribs & Chips and I wasn’t let down! The only disappointment was the fact I had a knife and fork to eat with as spoon would have done a better job to rip the meat off the bone. Top top cooking. The ribs were tasty, tender and terrific! The prices are so incredibly reasonable which is surprising seeing as this pub’s meat is all sourced from local butchers! The next time you visit a certain well known chain that’s directly across the road, think again, directly opposite is quite arguably the best pub grub in Aberystwyth! A 10* from me!
Llion T — Google review
For a pub style food, this place is 10 out of 10. Food was cooked perfectly. Everything was piping hot and cooked the way we ordered. Service was with a smile. Was a tad bit loud, but what do you expect for a Friday night. As a man from London visiting the weekend. I would recommend this place to everyone. 3 mains and 2 starters and a round of drinks, £60 absolute stunner of a place

One of the best selections of real ale and beers in Aberystwyth. Old Rosie is the cloudy cider of choice here. On a stag do, they'll use half a pint of it to make a 'brain hemorrhage'. The other half is top shelf! They don't do food, so it's a drinking pub which is fine by me.
Thom J — Google review
Always a very warm welcome from the landlord of the last 20 odd years, Serving in my opinion the best kep't Real ales in Aberystwyth bar non, always a wide range available, my only criticism is the arrogant young ex uni student who works behind the bar occasionally - bad language to obviously people he knows in the pub with zero regard to other customers who don't wish to her his offending outspoken comments. You can definitely find better staff.

Fabulous independent live music venue with craft beer and gin - service was faultless (credit to Liam) and the most brilliant local artwork displayed. Cosy place, sister bar to Bottle & Barrel but with live entertainment. Great choice of drinks that are regularly changed. The Vault and The Barrel have to be the best bars in Aberystwyth, drinks aren't cheap, but so many ever changing drinks to try with very high percentages, so small serving are sold not pints when over 8%. Because of its diversity and uniqueness it doesn't get over crowded with ****heads like other well known chain pubs. So if you want friendly, cosy, good service and enjoy ales visiting is a must.

The Aberystwyth Arts Centre is a great place for anything from entertainment, photography or pottery. They have a lovely cafe and also bar also on the top floor. They have a large theatre, a cinema and they also have a big great hall which can sit hundreds of people. The food in the cafe is lovely, however the box office, cafe and bar only accept card, they are a cashless venue! Attended the Arts center tonight to watch The Wizard of Oz. Arrived early to enjoy drinks staff always very pleasant and helpful. The show was incredible. The songs the dancing, the characters. Wow there aren't enough words to describe how this made me feel. My favourite all time movie brought to life in theatre, that I had wanted to see in the West End but it's never been possible, here in Aberystwyth. I absolutely loved the fact that the actors kept their welsh voices and didn't try doing an American accent. Every single person on the stage deserved the standing ovation. Loved Toto, the crows had us in stitches and the lion....my heart couldn't take it. Wished I could go again.

I went to the inn on the Pier tonight for food with my boyfriend and dog. We sat in one of the window seats and had a lush view of Aberystwyth. We ordered fish and chips and scampi and chips. Wouldnt want to even give 1 star....minus it warrants🧐🤨 Worst fish n chips we've ever eaten in our life..paid for cod but it was clearly haddock...thin fish...batter wasn't a batter was flat and really hard..and oily..pulled it off.... left most of chips also hard and couldn't taste vinegar must have been watered down....I would have felt better to give £25 to a charity ....never ever again.....! Pictures are of thrown away batter and chips ... loads of hard batter with little fish inside....I bit off a few middle bits of chips but left most ...wish I'd have took it back before attempting to eat it...🤨😖

On arrival a lovely bar tender took our order. 4 Adults in our group. When ordering our drinks she asked both my daughters for ID. One of my daughters had her ID but my eldest didn’t. We were then told by the acting manager butting in saying that my 21 year old daughter couldn’t have an alcoholic drink with her meal because she didn’t have her driving licence although she showed a clear photo of her passport with date of birth, photo and address info on. When we questioned the acting manager, she stated with pure attitude and a huge smirk on her face that it was their licence. The law states that in any licensed establishment you can have an alcoholic drink with a meal from the age of 16/17 in Wales and seeing we were going to have a meal I don’t understand the issue. Plus she’s 21 for goodness sakes. We will not be going to this establishment again. I understand asking for ID is law if you look under 25 but it was the manner and attitude that came with it. Very unprofessional attitude.Change the attitude of some staff and this place would be lovely. It’s a shame some attitudes pull places like this down. Aberystwyth is a great place but people will be put off by rude staff.

A really funky place - love what they've done with it. Good range of drinks and friendly staff. Ordered fish and chips and pizza. Fish and chips were very nice, but they knocked it out of the park with the pizza - very tasty! Stopped by for a quick drink — didn’t try the food, so can’t comment on that. The atmosphere was nice, and the staff were friendly and welcoming, which made it an enjoyable stop. That said, I was a bit surprised by the prices: a Cruzcampo and a double Malibu came to £16.25, which feels quite expensive for what it was. Overall, it’s a pleasant spot, but definitely on the pricier side if you’re just popping in for drinks

Ordered and waited two hours for delivery and well past the stated delivery time .so that's a thumbs down. When it did arrive my drink was not in the bag.thumbs down again. On to the food. The burger was ok beef and a big piece of bacon on top. It was nice to be honest . Simple and nice. The cream cheese and jalapeno bites were ok. The mozzerella sticks were ok. The chips with katsu curry was just a mess, no chip survived the onslaught of the spicy katsu curry sauce so never had the pleasure of crispy chips with sauce on. It was just a potato and curry stodge ville episode. And the buffalo chicken Wings were ok. This type of food would be a stoners heaven or if you was hungry after the pub. But I wasn't either so never enjoyed it. I woud'nt order again but don't let me put you off. give it a try and make sure you are expecting deep fried stodge and you will enjoy it.

I have never ever had such a bad service in my entire life. Not only we were charged for kids meal after telling us it’s free (unless one orange juice and shandy came to £14??), our order got lost and we were told about it after every one else in our table was served. We waited an hour for two burgers and a few nuggets. Our order was partially served and had to go till multiple times to remind what we had ordered because they lost that information. We ended up eating not a single thing because the wait was so long our kids just got overtired and had to leave. Waited a few minutes for take away box. Napkins are locked in cabinet 🤣 honestly I have no words for what actually happened

Very underrated pub in Aberystwyth. It's always my starting point in every Aber night out. I was a frequent patron during my time in uni and after; from 2018 till 2023. Scholars Bar a fantastic venue to meet up with friends and have drinks with. The tables are ample and spacious, enough to accommodate large social groups. I'm sadden to hear it's temporary closed even under a new management. Hopefully, it gets the love it deserves in the near future if it ever reopens.

Decent place. Friendly staff. Haven't been here for a while, slightly strange atmosphere. Music played is rock and metal, which is cool enough. Dove bar vibes. But the decor is the same as it was years ago, country pub filled with antiques kind of feel. Doesn't quite gel with the music and atmosphere. But it's OK. Still a great spot to stop off, and great staff.

I was told this was a local haunt of Kit Marlowe when he left the safety of Deptford ….so I was not all surprised to hear that the Jesus and Mary Chain worked on their first LP here!!!

Welcoming pub, friendly staff, good beer.

First time I visited this pub and it is awesome! Pool, darts, cocktails, jukebox. Great atmosphere. It's out of the way so not a pub you would just walk past, but it's a must find.
Kate S — Google review
Nice place. Lots of seating upstairs. Tasty Sunday roast but the line for food is usually quite long. Pool table and darts are available for games. Decently sized bar for drinks. Quiz night Sundays as well.
James K — Google review
Great rustic pub, popular with students. Great reasonably priced food generally to Italian cuisine. The Sunday carvery is probably the best I've had. If you are partial to real ale, they have a great selection of those as well.
David H — Google review
One of the best pubs in town. Quite big with several tables and many chairs, it's almost impossible not to find a free seat. They also have a pool and a dartboard. Food is decent, I particularly like the cheesy garlic bread. Desserts are nice, too. Friendly staff.

Y Bañera is a modern and relaxing cocktail bar with a Welsh twist, offering fabulous cocktails and a great party atmosphere for a night out. The staff are attentive, knowledgeable, and provide consistently enjoyable music. Weekdays offer a more laid-back experience while weekends can get lively with the possibility of live music. Customers have praised the Cocktail of the Week as an opportunity to try something new and have highlighted the friendly and welcoming staff.
Nice place Excellent staff who make superb cocktails. The cocktails and mocktails are delicious. Table service is available
Tequila * — Google review
Normally somewhere that we really love, but went last night and the cocktails just didn’t hit the mark. All of them tasted like they’d been watered back. Whilst you might not want to drink cocktails for the purpose of getting smashed, the burn you get from high strength spirits should be a part of it and sadly that was missing from them all. They weren’t awful tasting, but getting the sense they were watered back took away from the experience.
Callum ( — Google review
Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere. Drinks are great - a little pricey, but it IS an upscale cocktail bar. It was my birthday when we went and they were super nice to us. Would recommend and would go again 🥰
Leah ( — Google review
Lovely atmosphere, knowledgable staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. Best cocktails ever! A great place to chillax, we will be back! 🍹😊

I usually love coming here and have always had great service and great drinks, but tonight just wasn’t up to the usual standard. We were served by a different guy than usual and he forgot all the garnishes and other bits that come with our drinks, he was also quite pushy and made us feel uncomfortable so we left after one round.

Can't recommend Nia and her team enough after holding my daughters 18th Birthday party in Y Banera! Staff were so accomadating and made sure they were all having fun. We were able to decorate and drop off buffets etc before hand too. If your looking for a venue for an event or special occasion Y Banera wont be beaten, thanks guys xxx

Lovely cocktail bar to visit in the evening. Very nice atmosphere inside, with friendly and welcoming staff. There is a large selection of drinks at reasonable prices. They offer happy hour up to 8pm (excluding Sat). Highly recommended place to visit

Pub
Downies Vaults is a beloved gem in Aberystwyth, cherished by locals and visitors alike for over a decade. While it has seen some changes—some embraced and others more challenging—the essence of this bar remains timeless. Known as the most affordable spot in town, it offers an inviting atmosphere that truly shines during mid-busy nights. The jukebox often features a mix of pop-punk and metal tunes, creating the perfect backdrop for a fun evening out.
Downies is the best place ever. It is timeless in more ways than one. The prices and atmosphere of course!! The owner, Fred, is also a legend. Aberystwyth wouldn’t be the same without Downies!
Tom J — Google review
Been going here for a decade, some changes have been warmly welcome, some have been harder to come to terms with, but in the end that's a part of getting older. This is the cheapest bar in Aberystwyth and only Angel's jukebox can contend. Just don't go on some kind of national holiday because you won't even have room to breathe. This spot shines on the nights when it's mid-busy. The jukebox leans towards metal on the busier nights but it does tend towards poppy metal, pop-punk style. Nobody is unwelcome, this is a fantastic spot and everyone should come here if they want to really, truly let loose and not think too hard. Not a club, not a pub... just Downies. If you are that person that makes a joke about Downs on the way in you will get CLAPPED. I clapped my best mate 8 years ago for that joke. Enjoy.
House T — Google review
Well this place is an experience. A typical student haunt. The downsides it's bare bones. No beer taps, no ice for your drinks and the bathroom facilities are adequate at best. The plus side, it's about a quarter of the price of London. As one of our group kept saying "18 quid for a round of drinks!!!"
Christopher B — Google review
Inadequate training of staff, me and friends all over charged after told the correct price for drinks as their employee didn't know how to put them through the till, then unable to process a refund as non of the staff knew how to. Needs sorting don't recommend if your a student and want cheap drinks
Harry P — Google review
We visited on a university reunion and found it is exactly as it was when we were in university - 20 years ago - same flooring, same seats, same decor etc. It really looks tired and old now. It's very sad. Also they don't do draught beer at all which is a fairly bad sign for a pub in my opinion.
Cathy J — Google review
A typical bar of the pre-gentrified Aberystwyth. The atmosphere for students is, it must be said, it at times fantastic. However, the main issue found here is the lack of cleanliness. The toilets are, to be frank, a disgrace. Get them sorted and give the place a good clean. I also question the actual brands of alcohol served here despite what the optics display, staff regularly reach behind them to serve hidden bottles... dodgy
Citizen J — Google review
Im not sure if under refurb but stopped in for drink Saturday night. Quick service, drinks were fine we just found the pub bare, and lacked atmosphere.
Chris H — Google review
Love the owner and bar staff, toilets are nice now they've been refurbished (they have no mirrors in there though) Cheap drinks. Unfortunately some bouncers/security very rude and argumentative.

Undeb Aberystwyth is a charming university that offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it an appealing choice for prospective students. During my visit, I found the staff and students to be exceptionally friendly and helpful, creating a welcoming environment. The Starbucks on campus deserves special mention for its delightful baristas who serve up delicious frappes with genuine smiles.
Very nice frappe served by a nice chap.
Lydia G — Google review
Convenient on campus. My brain cells have probably deteriorated since completing my degree here but I wasted too much time trying to work out the meal deal labelling/pricing and ended up being charged nearly twice the price (£6 ). Hmmm
Marc R — Google review
Classic pop chosen on the video duke box, scruffy round the edges, friendly staff and a quiet room as well as all the usual social facilities. Got a shop, student union office and a careers place too. Useful. Serves food till later than most other places on campus.
Holly D — Google review
Went for Aberwrystwyth Scooter Weekender, hugely disappointed, was packed out, half the bar was closed, couldn't hear the music, not enough seating, bar queues ridiculous, won't be going again
Derek S — Google review
Has been done up recently but is still mediocre. Toilets are pretty good and I approve very much of the lack of gender assignment to them. Difficult to find seating sometimes and I don't make much of the food personally. Pool tables make for good fun and the union shop has some nice surprises sometimes.
Hannah J — Google review
always awful "music" at the bar, if you wanna chat with your friends in a bar/ cafe, better go somewhere else; worst Student Union i've seen, charge every student £5 tax before they can join any society (not including societies' membership fee yet). some staffs are friendly while some are not. perhaps the university itself takes some blame.
Ken O — Google review
Lacking. Possibly one of the worst SU's in the country. The potential they have is limitless but they seem keen on keeping a dance floor they never bother to throw events in and only keep three pool tables and a bar. It's also only open until 10pm (now 9pm)!! They need more facilities for playing games, more events with better management and longer bar opening times. Most the university bars are open 24hours. Needs a serious reconsideration. Nosh da van is also now branded, which funding has obviously gone to except you can't order takeaway in the physical SU after 8pm, but can still expect deliveries of food going out to people. The staff are lovely but the way it's run and the facilities just aren't good enough. This is a university and the SU bar should be the heart of every uni.

Josie T — Google review
Popped in on the way home for a quick pint, whilst having a short break in Aberystwyth. The landlord was very welcoming and friendly, surprisingly the pub was very quiet due to the students not being on campus, it's ashame the local people don't support this lovely little gem of a pub! Would highly recommend a vist.
Donna H — Google review
A great little pub with good draught and an always friendly atmosphere. Issues are that its card payment isn't always available and the recent renovation has caused the pub to lose the character that I would expect from a pub. Perhaps a darker woodier paint job next time. (Update) Decor has been introduced and fits very well with the theme. Card payment has been amended and is always working.

Brilliant music venue, though puzzlingly not a single barrel in sight. Jury still out on whether Coopers get a discount

Aberystwyth Bandstand is a charming spot located in the heart of Aberystwyth's seafront. It offers a mix of high-street and boutique shops, cafes, and restaurants for visitors to explore. The bandstand itself has a unique design that stands out from the surrounding architecture, making it an interesting sight to behold. Visitors can enjoy various events such as craft fairs, art exhibits, and musical performances within the bandstand.
The Aberystwyth Silver Band play Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer. They are truly excellent and the venue is perfect
Alex P — Google review
Not very in-keeping with the architecture of Aberystwyth seafront, looks more like a mix between an ice cream shop and a bus station. But perhaps the new design is more resilient to the waves and weather. It's nice enough. I enjoy it when they have some crafts / art exhibits and stalls inside.

Yoko's is a delightful dining destination in Aberystwyth, perfect for a Sunday lunch experience. This charming venue not only serves as a restaurant but also transforms into a cozy wine bar, offering an enticing menu that includes options for one, two, or three courses.
Sunday Lunch on my final day in Aberystwyth. The Courtyard is an adjoining restaurant SY23 but doubles as both a wine bar and on Sundays, a lunch spot. There are options for just a main, 2 courses, and 3 courses. I went with the 2 course option and chose the Fish Cake with dill mayo and sea veg and the roast beef sirloin (medium-rare of course) with the accompaniments. I glad I only opted for the two courses as the main course was mammoth with sides of steamed broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower cheese, and carrots with additional gravy and a side of fantastic horseradish. The sirloin itself came with a plate sided Yorkshire Pudding and three perfectly roasted potatoes. Service was friendly and quick. The food speaks for itself but is outstanding. The space is open and nicely decorated. Furthermore, there was live entertainment for the meal. It is a place I definitely recommend for fantastic food and a great Sunday lunch deal.
Stephanie L — Google review
We've been there twice and the food has been wonderful both times. Being a tapas style restaurant it can cost a tad more than a regular meal but the quality is definitely there. The staff appear to be well trained. We would definitely go back again
Sean D — Google review
We had an okay Sunday Lunch at the Courtyard. Standards have definitely dropped since our last visit a few months ago. Unfortunately, there was only one small bowl of vegetables provided between four of us, which was not enough to go round. The vegetables were also quite basic, especially for the price paid (£22pp for starter and main). However, the beef was cooked beautifully.
L B — Google review
The greeting I got was "oy mate, not in here". It was only when I asked questions did I realize it was because I had a coffee cup in my hand from another establishment. The funny thing is, the cup was empty and I was bringing it to show my friends something and we were planning to have a fun Friday night at this place. Owner lost out on £100+ b/c she's rude and I'll not return. The worst part is the staff were so embarrassed by the owner they claimed she didn't work there. Yet she's provided us with poor service before and we saw her taking orders later the same day. And finally, note all the 5 star reviews are from the previous owner/business. None since this new owner has taken over.
SLe P — Google review
Absolutely superb food. Creative, well cooked, tasty. Top notch - and the bill was less than I feared! They did, sadly, run out of broccoli. Which is a bit rubbish when there's only two veg sides available.
Rick — Google review
I’d avoid eating in this place if you have any standards. The burgers we ate were terrible with two of us leaving more than half due to cheap, fatty bacon (which was refunded), a carcinogen tasting patty and a stale bun that crumbled away in our hands. Waitstaff are either overworked or undertrained. No check back on the food and no cutlery provided making tackling the burger impossible. Complained and the manager said this was standard and that there was nothing wrong with the food despite refunding £1 for the bacon. This led to a conversation of contradiction, with no cutlery being given as burgers are apparently hand food despite the bun being in a thousand pieces. I conceded in the end and payed my bill as one of my friends had eaten all of his burger as he was hungry. Later I was told I was rude for challenging and giving feedback on the food when asked. Amateur, disgusting and best left alone.
Nick C — Google review
Questionable mixing something like Disney with showgirls and LGBTQ, and how at night it's that kind of content and then during the day doing stuff for the kiddos, feel like having those types of things in one place and mixing adult content with kid related stuffs a bit on the nose, foods ok and drinks range from ridiculous to reasonable though but extremely slow service.
Simon R — Google review
A group of us went for Sunday lunch on a cold stormy day. We were enchanted by the ambience and decor (it used to be a night club, so is dark and sparkly). There was a harpist playing most beautifully. The food was absolutely exceptional, delicious, and we could not fault a single part. The waitress was friendly and helpful.

The historic inn, located on Talybont's village green, has been respectfully modernized. This is also reflected in their cuisine, which boasts a variety of dishes such as bream with bean and chorizo fricassee alongside traditional bar snacks. The restaurant receives consistent praise for its warm hospitality, especially towards female patrons. Their homemade food is exceptionally tasty (especially the highly recommended burger).
Excellent! Welcoming hosts & nothing too much trouble. Food & service were amazing! Huge selection on the menu, large portions, excellent value for money, very friendly and welcoming staff, just loved everything about our experience here.
