Heathcote Botanical Gardens in Fort Pierce is a stunning outdoor attraction spread across five acres. Established in 1985, it features the impressive James J. Smith Bonsai Gallery, home to over 100 beautiful trees, making it the largest public tropical bonsai collection in the United States. The gardens also offer various themed garden rooms including contemplation gardens, herb gardens, Japanese gardens, palm and cycad walks, and rainforest displays.
This botanical garden is a little jewel. The bonsai collection is amazing and a must see in Fort Pierce, FL. Beautifully planted and taken care of. There is a playground, a butterfly garden and many whimsical painted metal sculptures. The staff is friendly and welcoming and the gift shop is well curated with many affordable items. Just a few photos. An absolute delight.

It had said they were closed on Sunday on Apple Maps, so my girl and I rushed to get there before they closed on Saturday. We got there shortly after 3, and the lady at the front warned us they were closing soon. We still went in and she told us she would let us in if we came back on Sunday since they were in fact open. She made sure to tell the lady working the next day about us, and when we came back, we were able to get back in! I am incredibly grateful to the both of them for their customer service and understanding. The bonsai collection is spectacular, most of them being older than me. Tom introduced himself to us and seemed like a very warm and friendly person. We wandered for at least 3 hours and then purchased some beautiful candle holders from the gift shop. Definitely worth the visit and I would love to come back again!

Enjoyed all the bonsai's. The kids garden was adorable. Was pleasantly surprised to see Koa Fish. Would definitely recommend a visit. Kids will enjoy.

Beautiful array of flora, great hideout when it's hot and you need a break. Very enjoyable stroll through a variety of landscapes. Bring bug spray.

Visited from Seattle and it was such a great learning experience! The bonsai garden alone was worth it! Largest collection in north America i believe. The couple who maintains this bonsai garden are so incredibly knowledgeable and generous with their time. She practically gave us our own tour!

With excellent sound quality and no bad seats in the house, it offers an exceptional experience for all visitors.
Attended a great Christmas special with friends and loved it. The place is great , no a bad seat in the house. Looking forward to many more shows there.

The Sunrise Theatre in Fort Pierce is truly a gem for St. Lucie County. With its rich history and beautiful setting, it brings world-class performances, concerts, and cultural events right to our community. Having both the main stage and the Black Box Theatre makes it versatile for large productions as well as intimate shows. It not only provides entertainment but also supports local artists and drives downtown business. The Sunrise Theatre is a wonderful benefit for residents and visitors alike, adding culture, energy, and pride to St. Lucie County.

Went to "the Black Box" next to Sunrise. GF wanted to see a Cat Band, yes a Cat Band. Fun silly time. Needed threatre seating not floor. Couldn't see 10 rows back what was going on floor level. Probably a good place for music. Enough parking. Ok rest rooms.
Frank H — Google review
We had a great time watching a recent concert. Nice size theater, multiple employees assisting & guiding, drinks and snacks sold there, and the bathrooms are in close proximity to the theater.
Melody T — Google review
We attend shows and concerts at this venue on a regular basis. The shows have all been AMAZING, but of course, that's all about the talent!! The venue is an older theater and a bit on the small side. That said, it makes the experience a more intimate one with a lot of charm. The seats are comfortable, roomy, clean, and all have a clear view of the stage. As with any public venue, they do have handbag size restrictions, so save yourself the stress, do not bring one at all! Staff have been consistently friendly and helpful. There are a lot of free parking options in the downtown area, and a lot of restaurants and bars to grab drinks before or after the show. Enjoy & Have a Great Evening!
Kate H — Google review
We caught a fun show this weekend, Mary Poppins put on by the local arts academy. The theatre experience was good all around. Easy in and out. Seemed clean and tidy. Sound was adequate. The vibe was that of a vintage style theater with some modern elements. Plenty of seats and a roomy balcony. Go see a show, keep these small local theaters open!
Justin W — Google review
Great theater! I really had a good time here. Easy parking and close to lots of other local shopping. It’s a medium sized venue full of authenticity. The volunteers and employees were very nice and accommodating. The bathrooms and seating areas were clean. Acoustics were good. All in all it was very nice.
Chris C — Google review
I was recently there for a concert. The venue was very nice, clean and the perfect size. The restrooms were in close proximity to the seating area, so didn't waste too much time. The ushers were very nice and helpful finding our seats. The show was amazing!

The National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum, situated near Fort Pierce in St. Lucie County, Florida, is a top-notch naval history museum dedicated to preserving the remarkable legacy of the Navy's Sea, Air, Land (SEAL) and Underwater Demolition (UDT) Teams. Established formally in 1985, this museum boasts an impressive collection of rare SEAL-related artifacts such as WWII-era demolition training obstacles and Vietnam-era Patrol Boat Rivers.
🎖️ Very interesting museum! Given that SEALS originated in Fort Pierce, this museum is a must-visit! 🪖 They have a very good collection of original artifacts! Very interesting stands with engaging stories! You can even “board” some of the boats and a helicopter! 🚁 ⏳ You will need ~3-4 hours to take your time and view all of the artifacts. 🎥 In the begging of the museum they have a video room where a series of videos about various operations are shown. The total run time is ~2 hours. But, each video is about 15-20 mins. long. I would suggest going through the museum first and visit this room at the end of your visit. 🎁 Make sure to stop by the gift shop. They have a lot of pins and memorable coins! 🅿️ There is plenty of parking on site. 🚽 There is a bathroom in the “middle” of the museum. Everything is nice and clean.
Constantin L — Google review
Excellent show of history dedicated to those who served. Stories told you probably didn't even know about, tons of cool artillery and history you get to experience unlike other museums that we've been to. My personal favorite was the boats they had outside on display and some of the weapons they had inside of the building. If you are in the area or if you have an interest in this stuff I highly recommend giving this place a check out to see some truly incredible things.
Diana S — Google review
A lovely visit to this museum right next to the beach by the way a huge plus…. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ the outdoor exhibits are free to wander, able to enter the huge ship was a nice touch - I did enjoy taking pictures from the height of the ship, they had educational videos about war & the ship’s history. The outdoor was a nice walk & it had an obstacle course for the kids. The inside was $16/but they offered military discounts. All items have been donated and actually used somehow in someway so that was interesting. Well maintained but did spend more time outside than inside. A day out visit was worth it!!!

Love the interactive displays. Great history sections like a real natural museum. Memories of the O course was something. Great memorial plaque wall. And all the challenge coins I ever heard of

I was just here for the first time today. Upon entering I was greeted by fellow veterans. The entire museum displays the naval special warfare community well! From touch screen (hands free QR codes also) explanations to real to life displays of weaponry, technology, vehicles and history. I was approached by “Terry” who was a pleasure to speak with, as we swapped sea stories. The museum was overall very clean and every corner led to another wealth of knowledge. I actually learned a couple things! Also thanks to “Dan” for answering some technical questions. Keep your eyes open as there’s quite the tropical plethora of lizards on the grounds (keeps the bugs at bay). I spent three and a half hours here easily. I highly recommend this museum! Well done!!

Don’t let the size fool you this place is packed with awesome history! Carve out about 2-3hrs there is a lot to see and the staff are really friendly and welcoming. Phenomenal museum show casing the sacrifices we “entitled” Americans take for granted to live free, love this place and makes me proud to be a Floridian!

It is a very interesting place that I could spend a lot of time reading and learning about Navy Seal as there're so many exhibits and historical artifacts. There're nice and clean restrooms inside and also a gift shop.

Park
Fort Pierce Inlet State Park is a stunning 340-acre state park situated on North Hutchinson Island near Fort Pierce. It boasts a half-mile beach that offers various activities such as swimming, fishing, surfing, and scuba diving. The park's coastal hammock habitats and dunes make it an ideal spot for bird-watching and outdoor recreational activities year-round. Known as one of South Florida's prime surfing locations, the park also hosts prestigious surfing competitions from September to February annually.
Absolutely lovely! Great place for kayaking. It had lovely mangrove tunnels. If you don't have kayak there are kayak rentals. Also nice trail through a forest. Beautiful beach overlooking the inlet and another great beach by the ocean. A place full of natural variety!

State Park pass holder so no fee for me but I took a photo of the current cost for non-pass holders. Beautiful state park. Inlet access. Ocean access. Separate parking for each. Baskets to help pick up things left behind. Park was clean. Rangers were present. A couple walking the beach areas and saw one cleaning up trash. They stay on top of their duties. One of the trails was a. It over grown. Bathrooms, picnic tables, grills, pavilions, beach showers, parking seemed plentiful. Lovely turtle sculptures at the entrance and also love the canoe with plants.
J. R — Google review
First visit to this state park and our whole family loved it! We have 5 kids and they loved the beach. It was very child friendly. It was only $6 to get in. There were bathrooms, some outdoor grills and a very nice beach area. Not too crowded. We went to the inlet side but we were told there are also ocean side beaches. Absolutely beautiful clear water and lovely scenery! Will be back again and again!
Ashley J — Google review
We went here twice on our trip to Fort Pierce. There's a $6 entrance fee and access to all the beach you can imagine. Unfortunately, we were there on a yellow and then a red flag day but we went wading in the inlet where it felt safer on the yellow flag day only. We otherwise walked along the beach, hung out under our umbrella and had some lunch. It was fun to watch the larger speed boats pass by as well. We also found lots of shells to add to our collection as well. Along the short walk from the parking lot to the beach, we also saw some turtles. The white sand is beautiful as well. Everything seemed so clean. FYI there are no dogs allowed at this beach and we saw the park ranger ask somebody with a dog to leave. There are restrooms that are okay on being clean.
Rebekah — Google review
Accessible beach for children with special needs. We had a wonderful experience. Morgan was very kind and got us a special beach wheelchair so we could easily bring our daughter with a disability down to the beach. It made all the difference! We’re very grateful for the thoughtful service and accessibility.
Deborah M — Google review
A great spot to anchor. Very convenient anchorage. The only downside is the locals who think that the water is theirs and they harass you with their speed boats especially in NO WAKE Zones!!!
Eston D — Google review
Everything about this park is great! Clean beaches, clean restrooms. Lots of parking, picnic tables, covered pavilions, trails, and kayak rentals. No life guards at the beaches. $6 per car entry

Art museum
The A.E. Backus Museum & Gallery in Fort Pierce is a must-visit for art enthusiasts and history buffs alike. The museum showcases original paintings by Albert Ernest Backus, a celebrated landscape artist from the area, as well as works by his students, including the renowned Highwaymen artists Alfred Hair and Harold Newton. Housed in a historic downtown building, the museum offers visitors a glimpse into Florida's artistic heritage.
Fantastic exhibition of Highwayman paintings. The twenty minute video gives a clear and concise explanation of the connections between artist A.E. "Bean" Backus and the Highwaymen painters. I did ask the staff to slightly dim the lighting in the large gallery because the glare of the lights interfered with the ability to fully appreciate the color blends . Whether you live in Florida or are just visiting, this exhibit will help anyone appreciate the artists who created lasting landscape paintings which depict the natural beauty of scenes that are being replaced by development. I will probably visit again before the exhibition ends.
A. A — Google review
Fine small town art scene. This museum does a great service for all of St Lucie County. Thru Bean Backus efforts the Highwaymen continue to be an important segment of Ft. Pierce's art history. Always visit this museum when your in town.
David B — Google review
This was an excellent and endearing museum situated along the Indian River. Despite its quaint size, this museum packs a punch in terms of history, culture, and information. There was another art exhibit on display in tandem with the Backus gallery and the Highwaymen collective. Backus was referred to as the Dean of Florida Landscape Painting and was the catalyst for inspiration and training of the many members of the Highwaymen. This story hinges on confronting racial boundaries and embracing kindness, love, and inspiration. I’d say this is a must-do if you’re visiting Florida’s Treasure Coast. Notes: ➡️ Parking onsite is free in the nearby marina lot ➡️ No public restrooms are available. You must buy gallery/museum tickets to access the restroom. ➡️ Admission is $5 with $2 off admission discounts for AARP, AAA, Veterans with ID and those over 65. Free Admission for Current Members, Students with ID, Active Duty Military Personnel and Children under 18. ➡️ Lisa at the front desk was incredibly friendly and informative. She helped to make our experience at the museum special and added context to some of the questions we had as well.
Zak M — Google review
The museum is very small but does an excellent job highlighting the artwork displayed. The experience is enhanced by the jazz music playing in the background. Photography is not permitted in the galleries to protect copyright. Admission was $5 for adults, but a variety of discounts are offered for vets, seniors, aarp, etc. There's plenty of parking, and the Manatee Center is on the other side of the lot. The museum store offered a good variety of handcrafted items, prints of Backus' most popular paintings, books, cards, ornaments, et al. You can also walk along the waterfront in a park with a number of metal sculptures.
Kat — Google review
Small but very enjoyable museum. Learned a lot about the highwaymen and really enjoyed that part of the exhibit as well. If you’re in the area, certainly worth a visit.
Brett U — Google review
I am very disappointed in the A.E. Backus Museum’s handing of submissions at a recent juried show. I submitted 5 gallery wrapped canvas photos (from a high quality print house in the USA). I chose this print house due to the museum’s requirements of high quality submissions. When I arrived with my submissions the woman at the counter was very rough with my canvases while attaching the submission numbers to them and inspecting them (as they get inspected beforehand for scrapes, dust under glass if framed, ect). I asked her repeatedly to be more gentle, however it fell on deaf ears. I then heard her continue to be rough with them in the storage room as I was leaving. I just went to pick up 4 of the pieces (one is proudly hanging and will be picked up later). 1st they could not find my submissions and questioned if I knew how many I had brought because they only had record of 2. She eventually, after me insisting there were 4 to pick up, found them. When the woman brought them out from the store room she carried the canvases face to face rubbing the faces against each other as she walked and then roughly threw them on the floor. My heart sank. I pulled them off of each other and found that every single canvas is heavily scratched. All four corners scuffed and 2 are scratched on the faces. The photos all have a lot of black encompassed in the photos so it is very obvious. They also tapped the show numbers directly on the canvas causing additional damage. I pointed the damage out to the women who then brought the director from his office. He came out with his mind already made up with zero empathy for the fact that I spent over $1,000 in prints and entry fees and now due to their mishandling have pieces so scuffed and scratched they can’t even be hung in my home. He said I must’ve brought them that way (impossible due to them inspecting them upon drop off). He then insulted the quality of my pieces and choice of print house insinuating they were poorly made. They are from a very reputable printer in Kansas that many photographers use. Anything would scratch with the way they were handled. He made it very clear that nothing would be done to make it right, no accountability would come from their end, and continued to insult my pieces, so I left seeing nothing productive or positive coming from talking to him. Hoping that the one hanging isn’t scratched between now and then so I at least end up with one to hang in my home. It is just very disappointing and disheartening that a museum so deeply rooted in appreciating art would let their staff handle pieces so carelessly. Hoping some training on how to respectfully handle people’s pieces comes from this so no one else has to have artwork they put their hard earned time and money into damaged like mine. A.E. Backus believed in being supportive and encouraging to artists, not damaging and insulting their work.

A.E. Backus museum & gallery is a small, nostalgic art museum that displays the art of Fort Pierce native, A.E. Backus and the highwaymen. Backus was born in 1906 and is known for his realistic scenes of Florida. He is considered a pioneer of Florida landscape art, and inspired many other artist to emulate his work. Additionally, he played a significant role in teaching some of the artists that became known as the Florida highwaymen. The Florida Highwaymen were African-American artist who painted beautiful, unique and brightly colored untouched Florida landscape between the 1950s and 1980s. The museum is located in Fort Pierce, right off A1A and near the Indian River inlet and other tourist sites. The museum is little but very well laid out and beautifully kept. It has a art shop and the admission fee is only $5.00. AAA, seniors and vets receive a discount of 2.00 dollars. The staff is very cordial and provide a detailed explanation of Backus and his history. A wonderful place to visit if you love oil and canvas art of scenic Florida.

Established in 1968 and now under the care of the St. Lucie County Historical Society, this museum features exhibits on local and Native American history, including reconstructed encampments and cultural artifacts.
This museum is in a perfect (day-out) location (park & mini beach). I visited the museum which was absolutely educational & had great artifacts. A nice walk thru w/interesting history of that local area. The price is super reasonable & worth it!

Really had a nice time learning about all the massive changes in the area, the influences that shaped the area, and some behind the scenes of well-known that once walked this area. Thank you for a great setup and display areas, so glad with the advancement of technology to be reminded of Hand washing, telephone on the wall days, we got so much precious time back.

This place was absolutely lovely! I love museums and especially enjoy learning about history; so this was a real joy for me! 10/10 I loved visiting here because I learned so much! (Down below is a sort of lengthy description of my experience at this place) -At first I thought it was going to a cutesy little building with some artifacts and information but then a very nice woman (Nancy I think was her name, I don't quite remember so forgive me!) Showed my sister and I out of this small cute house into another building, which by first glance, was FULL of things! She gave us a quick introduction about the museum and about the indigenous people who lived on this land before us, and was completely unbiased about their history and showed us some more stuff (I don't want to spoil much since you definitely should experience it for yourself but there's a small room with an incredible model of a ship), and then let us be and left us to explore the museum. Although it's a relatively small museum it had so much information and facts that by the end of it my head was bursting at the seems with what I had learned! They've collected so many antique's and had interesting (honestly a little frightening) human mannequins/models that represented different people and the times they were living in. This whole place felt like a strange time capsule of what was the entire history of Port St. Lucie, and it has a wide variety of collections too! It's like a little mix of everything in this museum, some artworks, antiques, stories and legends, and so much more I don't even think it's possible for me to list it all accurately! Truthfully I seriously enjoyed my visit and I cannot stress enough how misleading that cute yellow building is. It's like a cute little yellow house, and then behind it is a behemoth of knowledge, or well, almost like a maze, except you're guided through arrows. (Perhaps the opposite of a corn maze? 🤔). If you like learning and enjoy museums then you've gotta check this place out!

Spent hours here. So much to see, learn. Our docent was great. If you're considering an interesting, educational and easy paced visit to somewhere - consider this!
Nancy B — Google review
My advice: Get the combined ticket for both the aquarium and history museum. Both were fun experiences. The aquarium has several exhibits featuring local fish and plant species, (some I hadn't heard of before!). Took about 30 minutes to get through it. The museum was really interesting, and had a lot of information about the local native American tribes, historic monuments, and other interesting tidbits. They even have a house that was donated to the museum with tons of vintage charm. Had a great time here. I also suggest stopping by the Hershey's Ice Cream shop nextdoor!

Aquarium
The St. Lucie County Aquarium in Fort Pierce is a top-notch marine museum featuring the renowned Smithsonian Marine Ecosystems Exhibit, which offers a captivating model of a Caribbean coral reef ecosystem. Visitors can explore over 5,000 gallons of marine life exhibits showcasing six Florida maritime and estuarine ecosystems. The aquarium also provides interactive experiences such as touch tanks, workshops, and labs where visitors can learn about marine life and its habitats.
The St. Lucie County Aquarium may be small in size, but it is mighty in impact. What makes this place truly special is how well it highlights and advocates for the unique marine life and local waters that make this part of Florida so extraordinary. Every exhibit is thoughtfully put together with education in mind, and it’s an experience that’s truly enjoyable for all ages—from kids to adults. The staff here deserves special recognition. They are not only knowledgeable but also genuinely passionate about what they do. You can tell they work hard to care for the marine life inside the aquarium while also advocating for conservation beyond its walls. Their kindness and enthusiasm make the experience even more memorable. Another wonderful feature is that if you’re a history buff—or just curious to gain a bigger picture—you can purchase a joint ticket to the St. Lucie County Regional History Center right across the park. Visiting both helps connect the dots between the area’s natural environment and its cultural development, showing how the waterways were once vital for travel and income. Together, the two attractions give you a fuller sense of what makes this part of Florida so unique. If you’re looking for a flashy, oversized attraction, this isn’t it. But if you want a meaningful, educational, and inspiring visit that reflects the heart of Florida’s coastal environment, the St. Lucie County Aquarium (and its neighboring history center) are absolutely worth your time.

Stopped by for a quick visit with my wife, her sister, and her boyfriend. I would agree with a previous reviewer saying it's a small quaint aquarium. We got to see some cool marine life and corals. They have some endangered sea life, and you get to see their laboratory. It's a fun little exhibit that has some good teaching moments. Also, when we went, there was a new batch of seahorse babies. I will say due to the smaller space, it got easily crowded with the couple families that were there. The bathrooms are outside behind the building, and are like the bathrooms you use in an outdoor park. Not a port-a-potty, but it smelled like urine, and is a public restroom.
Kevin B — Google review
Great experience. Don't let the size fool you. The staff are very friendly and informative. We came in on the last 5 minutes of Lisa's tour and were amazed at all the sea life there was to see. We spend an hour there. Well worth the $5 entry fee.

Staff is super friendly! This aquarium is near Jetty Park, on the left hand side as soon as you cross the bridge; it's your first stop. It's a small walk through with a lot of education in it and with a small gift shop in side. It's also affordable to enter, I went 3 times in a span of a couple of weeks. They're apart of the Smithsonian around here in Fort Pierce. If you're looking to bring your kiddos to a spot to learn about some sealife I highly recommend it! And it has wheel chair access as well. It's a great walk thru.

So cute and quaint it's the perfect location for teaching, seeing, and hands on learning about some of the incredible wildlife that is among us, it's so cool how diverse and beautiful this planet is. So much to see and explore. Totally recommend for the family and especially for little ones. It was the perfect thing to visit for us during a rainy 🌧 day.

If you are already at the beach and want a quick trip, this would be a good idea. If you feel this is going to be a family activity that will help pass the time, this is not the location for you. If you spend more than 15 minutes, I would be surprised. The staff was nice and accommodating but as an earlier review said, the building gets packed quickly.

Archie's Seabreeze is a popular shack among bikers, offering burgers, fish, brews, and live music with outdoor seating. It has been the go-to Old Florida beach bar in Fort Pierce for 70 years. The eclectic eatery features various seating areas and live music, making it a great spot for a laid-back time. While the food is described as typical bar fare, the atmosphere is praised for its easy-going vibe and photo-worthy opportunities.
Archie’s Seabreeze is a fun and unique spot worth checking out! I only stopped by for a beer, but the menu offered a great variety of options for anyone looking for a full meal or snack. Julia, the bartender, was absolutely wonderful—friendly and attentive, making the visit even better. The decor is truly one-of-a-kind, with dollar bills stapled all over the bar area, adding to the quirky and laid-back vibe. The colorful seating and beachy aesthetic made for a great atmosphere to unwind. I’ll definitely be back to try more from the menu and soak in the charm of this place!

He was not only attentive and kind, but also honest and knowledgeable about the menu. You can tell he truly takes pride in what he does. He definitely deserves a raise. We’ll absolutely be coming back!

Super cute laid back place, no beach view but right across the road. Burger was great, chicken fingers blah. Beers cheap, music is 60- 70 vibe super chill. We did visit mid day off season which will sometimes effect service..

Burger is definitely a highlight!! Exceptional for sure. Wife got the grouper basket with coconut rice. Have to say, the rice was the hero of that basket. Nachos with blackened chicken were good, but it was too salty (would suggest less seasoning of the chicken and less onion in the guacamole). Service and atmosphere top notch!!

We had been past Archi's several times and finally decided to drop in. Such a unique and fun place! Burgers and wings were good. Fish dip was decent and dressed out. Peanut butter pie was homemade, light, and had a great flavor. Be sure to bring or meet up with friends. It's that kind of place.

What an amazing place to walk into! The place was built in 1947 with the history all over the property to prove it. The food was great, the atmosphere was great. There was live music and just such a relaxing vibe. 100% recommend, even if you just stop in for a drink.

Archie’s is a small, kinda dive, kinda beachy, kinda eclectic restaurant/bar. It’s a fun vibe and an old beach bar sort of feeling. A bit off the wall but not unexpected. We ordered the traditional Rueben and the Philly cheesesteak. The Rueben was fantastic! I love corned beef and they know how to make it. The rye bread was delicious and the kraut was sweet and juicy. The Philly cheesesteak was recommended by our waitress and she was right. It’s very very good. The bread is soft but does not get soggy. They use a good quality meat and lots and lots of melty cheese. We split them. It can be a bit costly and that’s why I left only 4 stars and not 5. It seemed like it was quite a bit too expensive to justify the environment. We also felt that we had to “settle” for the Rueben and the Philly because of the cost of the items we actually wanted. But they didn’t disappoint. I would return for sure but I’d have to be prepared to spend more. I wouldn’t let the cost deter you though. The food and service was great!

The Manatee Observation and Education Center is a coastal awareness nature center that offers informative exhibits on marine life. Additionally, there is a waterfront viewing platform where visitors can observe sea creatures in their natural habitat. Knowledgeable volunteers are available to provide additional information and answer questions. The gift shop offers a variety of souvenirs for visitors to choose from. Although the center was not fully open during one visit, it was still possible to spot at least one manatee in the river.
Our family had a fantastic experience at the Manatee Observation and Education Center in Fort Pierce. During our visit, we were thrilled to spot five manatees relaxing peacefully in the water, seemingly unbothered by our presence. The recent cold snap had drawn them closer to the warm waters, allowing us to enjoy an incredible close-up view of these gentle giants. Beyond the manatees, we explored the center’s exhibits, which included fascinating displays of fish, sea horses, and other marine life. The staff were exceptionally welcoming, providing personalized attention and sharing extensive knowledge about manatees and the local ecosystem. The interactive exhibits were a big hit with my daughter, making the visit both educational and engaging. The center offers an unforgettable experience that’s perfect for families and nature enthusiasts alike.

Small center to help preserve the manatees. $3 entree fee, a few exhibits, inlet access beside and attached to it with a 2nd story viewing tower. Small aquariums with live fish and plants. Entry free gift shop also. Great prices on tourist coffee mugs and many other items.

Such a cute little center. Sadly, the Manatees weren’t present because of the cold weather. The staff was excellent and engaging. Fun exhibits inside and lots of viewing space outside. Admission is minimal so round up for a little extra donation. It has beautiful outdoor space and even when the Manatees aren’t there, there’s still wildlife around to enjoy.

It's a wonderful place handicap accessible. It is especially for small children. And when the weather is nice and the waves are not as choppy, you can see the manatees outside. They even brought out a snake. They are very polite, they will ask If the person is afraid or not to bring the animals to you. There are books that you can read to the little ones at a nice clean table. So there are things to occupy some time And lots of information.
Grace R — Google review
The center is very, very small but offers a large amount of information on manatees. There's several small aquariums and a terrarium with a resident snake, children's activities and books, a butterfly garden, a really nice gift shop, and observation deck with an excellent view of the docks and waterway. It cost $3 to get in.

Jetty Park in Fort Pierce is a charming coastal destination that offers a variety of activities for visitors. The park features ample parking, making it convenient for those arriving by car. With its aqua-blue waters and pristine white sand, Jetty Park provides a picturesque backdrop for leisurely strolls and bike rides. It's also a popular fishing spot with a 1,200-foot pier and opportunities for bird watching.
Me and my father had a wonderful experience at the Jetty Park! At first , we walked on the wide rocked wall/pier. Out there, you have places to sit and fish, and a great view of the beach and ocean. After catching up there we sat in lawn chairs down in front of the grouper restaurant. As we sat we watched the glorious , gracious water flow along with boats/sailboats riding the waves in and out of the entrance/exit to the ocean. We were lucky enough to listen to live music playing at the restaurant while we sat outside. We met some lovely people at the shaded benches set out in the park! Where there are also public restrooms. The sand at the beach was seaweedie and Shelly, and the top sand was almost too good to be (true).

The ocean proximity is wonderful, watching the cruise lines sail away on the pier was definitely a perk. Our rustic campsite was NOT shaded (Lot 26), so we were baking in our tent by 8am. Definitely will choose another lot next time. The ones with power hookup are well shaded, go figure. WARNING: Wear Bug Repellant at EVERY moment. I have over 200 bug bites. I used the citronella wrist and ankle brackets and candles. It wasn’t enough.

We've been coming here for at least 20 years. It has changed quite a bit, especially after the hurricanes in 2005. It looks a lot neater without all the plaques, but each one of them had a story to tell about a lost loved one. The parking is now so much larger than it used to be. There are more benches, and the bathrooms are usually pretty clean. It's a lovely place to come, and if you get hungry or thirsty, there are loads of places(some within walking distance) to fill your need. There are great views of the inlet, the Fort Pierce Inlet State Park, boats, birds, open waters, and beautiful city skyline(looking South). Plenty of room for fishing, setting up lawn chairs, walking, photo ops. We used to come here to catch the sunrise when we lived on south beach years ago, and once in awhile we'd see some manatees. Jetty Park is a special place for our family..million of memories here!

I’m decorating my new house in beach cottage style so my friend says, “Let’s go shelling at Pepper Park Beach! It’s one of the top beaches to go shelling near Hutchinson Island! You can even find driftwood there and my neighbor says you can find whole conch shells there!” We had a great time walking the beach, finding shells and driftwood and enjoying nature. You’ll never find the same shell twice. We found calico scallops, turkey wing shells, 3-inch cowry shells and more. No conch shells but we arrived around 2:30 pm after the post-Thanksgiving vacationers had scoured the beach. We decided to spend the night at my friends house and wake up early to go shelling next time. It’s a great family beach. It really wasn’t crowded at all. Kids of all ages were enjoying the gentle waves. They had lifeguards on duty. The park facilities included bathrooms and showers.

A wonderful beach for those who don’t like crowded places and don’t want to go down to a big and noisy city. Yes, the sand is not very beautiful, but... free parking, palm trees with coconuts, a toilet, and most importantly there is a shower (when you come from the beach you can wash off the sea salt.

Nice beach with a nice looking restrooms/outdoor shower and a free parking lot. Super easy to get to and very short walk to the water. Lots of lizards in the parking lot! Not sure if it was the tide and the time of day, but a big undertow as there is a steep drop off in the water. No one was in the water in the area. The beach itself was clean and nice, just not a place it seemed would be good to be in the water.
Jason L — Google review
I went this past July and as you can see, the beach was not crowded at all. During early morns and even throughout the day, dolphin activity can be spotted here. That was fun. However, when I went to the beach to watch the sunrise, I did see sharks gliding along the shore feeding as well. Now, the sharks that I saw were not big, but big enough to keep me out of the water. Lol. I did go to Jenson beach, which was maybe a 20 min drive from this beach. Upon arrival, it was storming and lightning so ended up leaving. I did note that that beach was certainly busier than South Beach Park. Also, do bring bug spray as the midges are terrible early morning and at dusk. But I’d definitely go back! The area is lovely and fresh coconut can be found right on the ground. Oh, and one more thing, there were African Redhead Agama lizards everywhere at the South Beach area. They weren’t aggressive by any means, just wanted to give a heads up to all those who are scared/do not like lizards.
Melisa — Google review
This beach is a block away from our home, so we like to call it our beach. It has a small parking lot, and the beach it's self is never crowded. It feel like you have it all to yourself most of the time. I've never seen it full. Maybe 15 people out there at the max. The waves do hit, and there is a drop. Not safe if you don't know how to swim. Plenty of seashells. Nice spot to sit watch the waves and every once in awhile see a dolphin. Also, catching the sunrise here is amazing.
Dmitri W — Google review
This beach drops of very rapidly to over 6 feet, so don't let your children wander off by themselves. I don't know if it's always like this, but the steep slope to get into the water was packed with shells, which were pretty hard on the feet. However, the beach is very clean, as were the bathrooms, and there are outside showers available. There are quite a few parking spots,v so parking should not be a problem.

Such a joy watching these performers deliver this period piece playing off each other’s energy keeping the audience laughing and hoping Barnard the bachelor gets away with juggling 3 airline stewardesses he is engaged to from finding out about each other. I've lived in St Lucie County for 15 years and decided to visit here with my daughter and some friends last summer. There is a lot more history here than you would think and it was very informative to learn more about the native Americans, first settlers to the area, military history and some of the shipwreck history as well. The kids had a good time and I am glad that I took the time to learn more about our area. If you join it with the county aquarium, the playground or the inlet, it is a nice way to spend the afternoon. Probably a great little excursion for homeschoolers as well.

South Causeway Beach in Fort Pierce is a peaceful waterfront park with various amenities, including picnic areas, playgrounds, and a boat ramp. The beach stretches about one-fourth of a mile along the Indian River Lagoon and offers calm waters suitable for swimming and other water activities. It's an ideal spot for families with young children or those looking to enjoy the beach without big waves. The area also provides scenic views of the inlet and sailboats anchored nearby.
My in laws took us here for a beach day with a 2 year old. I like that it is free and there's little pavilions with grills you can sit under. I did not like that the water wasn't clear, I couldn't see my feet so I of course just walked through the water and did not swim in it. It's definitely a pretty area for free, there's also bathrooms with stalls and aa feet cleaning area.

Super calm water which is ideal if you have young kids. Nice beach overlooking a floatila of sailboats. Can walk up to the aquarium or down the Chuck's for lunch or a beverage. Lovely spot

South Causeway, Beach was absolutely astonishing with its beauty and the sun setting late in the day. Nothing could bring the piece to one who sees it more so than the south cause Beachway

Nice beach for families and couples. It was not too busy for a Saturday. I enjoyed the clean park with walking areas. There is also the sandy beach with calm waves. Definitely worth checking out!

Great little beach to take your kids. The water is fairly shallow and easy to get in and out of. Go early so you can get a good parking spot. They have showers and public restrooms available. People bring canopies, chairs, small grills and coolers and make a day of it. Usually by late afternoon (4 pm) the morning crowd is leaving and you can find parking easier. There's a boat ramp nearby. It's not uncommon to see all the kids jumping off the docks by it. It's the norm for the locals.

We visited this park today to take part in the get up and go kayaking, we had a great tour guide Tod, who was very friendly and a wealth of knowledge about different mangroves as well as many other very interesting facts about Florida wildlife, plant life and the inlet systems. There is a lot to see, and it’s a great time to explore and bond with your group, get up and go is a franchise so check and see if they are in your area! Great way to get outdoors and explore! Hope to do this again one day!

Exactly what I was looking for while on my trip to Florida - no, better!! Todd was an awesome tour guide and gave us plenty of space to enjoy the scenery and take pictures. And the see-through kayak was also super cool :) We will definitely be back! Thank you for the great adventure, Todd!

This was so much fun!!! My mom recommended we give this tour a shot and it was so worth it! Crystal was expert at navigating the labyrinth of mangroves in the dark. She gave clear instructions on what to expect as we were cutting across the open waters. It was fascinating to learn about the different species of mangroves, crabs, fish, and snails. The tide was really high this night so we got a unique view of the area with lightning storms in the distance. We also saw two species of heron, a great horned owl, and heard osprey. She also made sure we got to experience the bioluminescent dinoflagellates. What a great time!! I will absolutely be recommending this to any of my friends and family. So good!

Omg where do I start! First time kayaking and it was a wonderful experience with our guide Todd who had so much knowledge about the mangroves, the crabs, estuaries, sea grass . We learned so much along with having so much fun! Saw a sting ray, sea turtle, cool fish, baby barracuda, and cool birds. We will come again and again for this experience! Todd was awesome, funny, educational, personable and cool! What a day! Thank you Todd!

The boat trip offered by Indian River Lagoon Boat Tours provided a memorable experience. Participants had the opportunity to observe numerous dolphins, various fish species, and gain knowledge about the local ecosystem. Additionally, a manatee sighting at a nearby dock added to the excitement. The informative staff and skilled captain facilitated great photo opportunities during the tour. At the dock, visitors could find convenient amenities such as a souvenir shop, restaurant, clean restrooms, and ample free parking.
What a neat experience! Captain Chop was a great guide. All the crew was very attentive and the Captain was very knowledgeable. It was a beautiful day which helped. We where able to see dolphins and the place where the fresh water mixed with the salt water. Would definitely suggest this place for an awesome tour of our beautiful lagoon.

A great boat tour! We spotted a lot of dolphins. The captain was very informative. He also let us sit in one spot for a bit to watch the dolphins. I have been to Florida many times, and this was my first time on a boat while there and seeing dolphins so close.

Great little last minute 4th of July sunset cruise. It started about 6pm and we returned around 7:30pm. Definitely if you go, just know you can bring anything you want to eat and drink! Yes! Drinks, beer, alcohol etc… it’s all BYOB I saw some people brought snacks and some even brought sandwiches. The crew was great! The captain talks to you during the cruise and gives you some knowledge on Ft. Pierce and its history of the waterways and just a great vibe. We saw lots of dolphins and birds and even manatee. It’s definitely a ride I’ll be going on again.

This is a neat thing to do on a Monday morning with a group. We had to go in person to reserve our tickets, although it suggested we could've reserved them online. The tour is about an hour and a half. We were offered bottles of water at some point, which was helpful although we were also under a roof. We got to see dolphins which was neat.

Despite having a smaller screen than traditional drive-ins, the location provides an ideal setting for enjoying movies under the stars.
Love that our little beach town offers a classic drive in movie theatre. Fun for the entire family Friday and Saturday nights! They always show the best classic films and offer concessions- highly recommend

Going again tonight if the rain doesn’t have them closed! ^.^ My husband, our four girls and I LOVE this drive-in which seems to be family owned and operated! 🥹🥲🤎 Their tickets are VERY well priced which keeps us coming back again and again every feature! ^.^ Their snacks are also incredibly affordable, and their pizza is good! ^.^ But their service and kindness is what wins the gold! Definitely a treasure coast hidden gem! It’s our favorite family night out! ^.^

Got a Groupon for me and my daughter to see the movie… when I got to the gate they refused to honor it. They stated that the Groupon was only valid on Saturdays. When I asked the woman to show where it said this, she stated that it wasn’t “specifically” there. At this point I feel douped into buying a ticket that I can only use when they feel like honoring it… I’m sure they have plenty of patrons yet, I will no longer be one.
Kevin J — Google review
Had a great time and at one $10 a vehicle it was quite a bargain. I love watching classic movies at a drive-in! Even though the screen isn't as large as a typical drive-in theater there can be no better location to watch a movie under the stars than Treasure Coast Park and Watch. The speakers were plenty loud that we didn't have to use the radio to hear the movie. We were parked at the front and watched from the bed of a pickup truck with blankets and pillows. If you arrive late and park near the back you may have to use the radio to hear it but I don't know. The popcorn was fresh and delicious and reasonably priced. The candy, sodas and ice cream were reasonably priced as well. I went two nights in a row and will be going again
Kiddos ( — Google review
Happened to be there but no movie tonight. It looks to be a perfect area for them to have it. This prompted me to find out more so I went to their website, they are down for maintenance but will return at the end of January. The ticket price is very reasonable and they have a concession stand, (sorry no outside food), and they are pet friendly. Besides, who doesn't love a drive in movie?!
Shannon F — Google review
The screen is ridiculously small, if you are after the 3rd row you can barely see it. Even if on the screen is specified to park regular cars on the left and SUVs or bigger cars on the right, this does not happen. They told us to park behind 3 huge pick-ups. At that point we kindly asked for a refund so we could leave, as we would not be able to see anything at all. But the lady at the entrance told us "to buy a bigger car next time". Nice costumer care. Luckily for us the guy giving directions for parking was really nice and told us another car left. He gave us that spot where we didn't have any huge vehicle to block our view and we could enjoy the movie. The 2 stars are only for the audio that was great and the price that's affordable. Beside that if this is the way they treat customers we're not gonna go there again.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I went online to purchase tickets and had several questions about the shows. From the moment I called, I had the honor of speaking with Alayz’a, and she immediately set the tone for what true customer service should feel like. She was not only professional, but also extremely knowledgeable about every single detail of the shows. She took her time to explain everything clearly and left me so impressed that I made the decision right then and there to purchase tickets to every single show moving forward. Her professionalism, patience, and expertise truly stood out — you can tell she genuinely enjoys her role, and that passion shines through in the way she interacts with customers. When it came time to process my tickets, I had the honor of speaking with Adnail, WOWWWW her knowledge truly amazed me. She knew absolutely everything about the seating — how it works, the best options, and every detail I could have possibly asked about. The way she broke it all down showed not only her expertise, but also her dedication to making sure I felt comfortable and confident in my purchase. It was an absolute pleasure to speak with her, and her professionalism stood out in every way. Both of these young ladies went above and beyond for me. Their customer service was truly top-notch, and IRSC is very fortunate to have them on their team. It’s rare these days to find people who not only do their jobs well, but also clearly love their careers — and that’s exactly the kind of service I experienced with Alayz’a and Adnail. They both deserve the highest praise for making this process not only simple but also enjoyable. Thank you, Alayz’a and Adnail, for your outstanding professionalism and care — you have gained a lifelong loyal customer!

The grassy areas are perfect for relaxing or picnicking while taking in the natural surroundings that are home to diverse wildlife including alligators in the ponds.
This park is beautiful! One of my favorite "peaceful" places in the area. I coach a Cross Country team and we have met here to run several times. I also took my daughter's 16th birthday photos here. It's the PERFECT place for gorgeous photos! ❤️

Wilbert D — Google review
White City Park it’s just beautiful Florida. It’s been there for at least 50 years, my grandpa put in the boat ramp probably 35 years ago. They have a pretty nice playground there now. When I was a kid it was a big metal slide that would burn your butt when you slid down. Pretty much the layout is still the same. Oak trees, squirrels, gators, fishin’, (especially with cane poles) and lots of other nature. If you’re looking for a good place to just hang out, park walk or just relax. You’ll be satisfied.
Alicia V — Google review
I love this park. It's basically an island with a small lake in the middle of it. There's plenty of grassy areas to hang out in and a playground for kids, also tons of benches as well as trash cans around the park. You can regularly find an assortment of wildlife here, and there's plenty of waterway to fish from. If you have any watercraft, there's also a free boat ramp here that launches straight into the St. Lucie River.
David H — Google review
Driving off of the main road this park is much larger than you think. This park is absolutely beautiful! River side with docks and plenty of views. There are wonderful old growth oaks, tall palms and bottle brush trees leaning into the lake that is the center of this park. Several pavilions, park benches and picnic tables make this area a nice place to gather. I'm really pleased that there are clean public vault toilets, childrens playground, lots of larking and a boat ramp for public use. You can easily spot turtles, birds and other wildlife. There are packed shell areas for walking. The water was high in December and the grass was soft with water filled areas but there are other high areas to recreate. Overall the nicest park in the area.

Museum Pointe Park is locate at the base of South Bridge. This is the park that surrounds the St. Lucie Regional History Center and the St. Lucie County Aquarium. If you plan on visiting either pack a picnic and enjoy it in the park after for a fun and inexpensive family day out. Museum Pointe Park is on the Indian River so it has great water views. The park also has plenty of free parking, picnic pavilions, a playground, and a lot of large shade trees The paved walkway along the water was my favorite part of the park. I noticed that there were a number of rock agama lizards sunning themselves on the rocks. Rock agama lizards are an invasive species from Africa. They were first introduced to Florida in 1976 from the pet trade. Adult males have distinctive red heads and black bodies and can grow up to a foot long. Their range has been expanding and they are now found as far north as Jacksonville and as far south as Big Pine Key. Unfortunately they like to feast on Florida's endangered butterfly species. Scientists are currently studying their effect on the environment. If you enjoy fishing there is a pier underneath the South Bridge close to the right of the park and South Causeway Park is to the left for more picnicking and swimming. Museum Pointe Park is filled with history, science, and nature. It is the perfect place to take the family this summer.

This park is located on the corner of Indrio and Emerson. What caught my eye was the historic 1914 one room school house on the property. This was the first public school in Saint Lucie County. This area was originally known as Fort Pierce Farms but it was given the name Indrio by Alice Stead Binney. Alice's husband was Edwin Binney, the inventor of Crayola Crayons. Alice took the first three letters from Indian and added the Spanish rio meaning river. Today the schoolhouse was closed but it can be rented for private events such as dances, parties, and weddings. In addition to the historic school this park has a playground designed for children ages 2-12, picnic tables with grills, and a restroom. There is a large natural area for play, walks, or bird watching. On the weekends there are food trucks. The trees provide shade and beauty to this rustic park.

This place is never open. We have summer for 6 months a year and good swimming weather an additional 3 months. Our property taxes in st Lucie county continue to go up but the county doesnt put money into all the places it taxes- like Lakewood park. This place is open 2 months out of the year. The rest of the time its allowed to get Green and nasty. The people of Lakewood park want this place open 3/4 of the year. Great for small children. An entire area just for small children. Only enough room for a couple swim lanes and often unavailable for those lanes. Overall size is small. Often crowded when open. It was less than 5$ person last time I took my son. Ample free parking.

Nice little park to enjoy and relax, Surprisingly there wasn't any one up there. I would love to start a park district recreational activities program and get a few other Paradise Park parent's involved.

O MY GOD today i swan across the shallow baby 3feet side. Finally at 57 (58 years old in October) (with a life jacket) GLORIOUS the people and facilities are nice, warm, AMAZING I PRAISE GOD FOR THIS PARK
Marie D — Google review
Very disappointed in the county. This pool is only open between 2 and 5 Monday through Friday and when you go there it is locked. Ridiculous.
Rebecca I — Google review
The park is okay the county workers neglects the area. The county workers come to the park to take breaks and do minimum work. The baseball fields are hard as concrete which is a danger for kids playing baseball and softball. A few things need to be upgraded at the park. There are new restrooms but they are locked at all times. There concrete restroom with metal toilets and no doors from the 50s open for the citizens.
Terrance D — Google review
It was very fun and had very sparkling water

A lot of very big wasps around tables. No concession stand. Careful parking in the unpaved lot. We seen an SUV get stuck in the sand.
Diana S — Google review
Sparkling clean pool with friendly lifeguards. Not crowded and so refreshing. Go and swim for a couple of hours and get rejuvenated.
Sergio D — Google review
