Victoria Falls Backpackers Lodge offers a range of accommodation options, including en-suite rooms, thatched twins, canvas tents, camping grounds and dorms. Situated in a quiet residential suburb just 2 kilometers from the city center, this lodge provides warm and friendly service from knowledgeable staff. Guests can enjoy an open-air cafe, outdoor pool, fire-pit and dedicated activity desk for booking experiences in Victoria Falls. The lodge is conveniently located near Victoria Falls National Park and Zambezi River.
This place is amazing! One reason is Ollie its Host, he is the Best and will help you with literally EVERYTHING, we had troubles with our bus arriving and he was very attentive during the whole process and picked us up 10 hours later then expected. We also arranged a sunset cruise and game drive woth him which were unforgettable! The hostel itself has amazing instalationa, clean bathrooms, hot showers, a great cafe/bar with good food, a refreshing pool and the most comfortable beds we have encountered even in the tent rooms! Thank you for making our stay special 🌞

I did not like my experience at all, unfortunately. No card payment possible. Had to scream from the gate because nobody would come greet us in the sun after ringing. Then being told ; just dial the code... We are checking in, don't know any code. Then had to pay by PayPal (?!) but they offer all paying services like restaurant, massages, spa, tours, airport transfers, but can't take cards ? Room was in open air, a lot of mosquitoes. Shower we just didn't shower it didn't look inviting at all so we showered at our next destination (the airport lounge actually). Always pushing for sales like bottles of water. Even the transport we asked for 10:30 they said well checkout is 10:00 why not take airport shuttle at this time. Little did I know that they chartered the 30$ van to put 4 of us in... Asking 13$ each. Yet another scam. Always pressure. There is a dog on premises in case you are allergic. The lady at reception wasn't very welcoming as well. Pool wasn't clean a good net would have been helpful. Braai station closed... And so so far from anything. 25 minutes walk for basic Nando's. I know it's cheap yet not worth the price.
Marc-Andre P — Google review
Pros: - Blessing, who took my booking and was there to welcome me at the reception, was really friendly and super helpful. I literally just sent her a list of activities I wanted to do in my 4 days in Vic Falls and she helped me make an itinerary and all the bookings. - The pool was really nice for a quick dip. - There’s a cute resident dog and several birds just running around :) Cons: - The room is small and quite sparsely furnished but acceptable for the price you pay, bearing in mind the high prices in Vic Falls. - Little privacy as the rooms are close to each other so you can hear everything. So I got woken up by the cleaner super early in the morning. - No hot water or aircon. - There are gaps in the door and windows so insects fly in. The bed comes with a mosquito net but I still got bites all over me :( Unavoidable I guess!
张世吉 — Google review
(From March 2025) Nice, secluded backpackers about a 40 minute walk from the town centre (or you can get a taxi for 7USD. There are no buses) Friendly owner. Barbecue nights sometimes - this is ok but portions are small No soap in toilets - this is needed for hygiene Poor light in the dorm rooms. Hooks needed for clothing Hinge was broken on one door but this was fixed when mentioned Clean communal kitchen Nice pool and chilled vibe Prices for tours can be a bit more than places in town offering similar
Jonathan A — Google review
Clean and safe enough for you to enjoy your holiday while staying for cheap!
Sheunopa M — Google review
Quite clean but there are mice getting into the dorms. Nice communal areas (garden, pool, fireplace). Mice getting into the dorms and the kitchen. I informed the staff but they did nothing for 4 days I was there. Uncomfortable matress. Bad wifi.
Alexsky99 — Google review
Really bad rooms with broken sockets and fans that sound like boat engines. Also try and scam you. Watch out! The man at reception is also incredibly rude and unhelpful.

Shoestrings Backpackers is an informal hostel in Victoria Falls that offers modest dorms and private rooms. The place features a cafe, a bar, a terrace, and a pool. It's known for its great pizza and traditional food, but what really makes it stand out is the vibrant atmosphere where you can meet new people and dance all night. The road to Shoestrings is wild with sightings of various wild animals like hyenas, lions, baboons, and porcupines.
There are a couple of backpacker options in Vic Falls and found this the best overall for a range of reasons. Great location, within walking distance into town and restaurants/food options and supermarket. There is no kitchen to cook/prepare your own meals which is a shame nor fridge to store items. However the kitchen offers food all day/night which a decent selection, just not the cheapest, which is the case within the town. Private rooms are decent and clean, some offer air cond and others just a fan, so make sure you book the room to suit your requirements. I highly recommend the air cond room during the hot months. Huge property to spread out for space on your own or great place to meet other travellers. Music does get loud on weekends, so be prepared if you’re not up enjoying the atmosphere. WiFi is good and stable. Power can cut out (as across the town itself), but generators kick in so little to no impact. Washing machine can be used for USD 10 per load which is handy. Highly recommended.
Peta B — Google review
Dorm room door didn’t close and there were no mosquito nets. Heavy curtains on the door and curtains on the bed kept out most mosquitos but definitely not all. AC was ok but not great. Most importantly all mattresses in the 10 bed dorm were horrible. They look ok but as soon as you sit or lie in them they compress completely, it’s like sleeping on a wooden board. The staff are awesome though, very friendly, funny and helpful. Bar staff, security, everyone was really friendly.
Emma E — Google review
On Fridays and Saturdays, there is heavy partying here. Unfortunately, this was not mentioned anywhere beforehand. Music is played at an abnormal volume until 1 a.m., making it impossible to sleep. The rooms are old, and the mosquito nets are full of holes. The “very fast Wi-Fi” barely works, and when paying on-site at the accommodation, an additional 3% fee was charged for credit card payment, which was also never mentioned in advance. We are deeply shocked that something like this can pass as a hotel or hostel. Had we known this beforehand, we definitely would have booked something else.
Julia G — Google review
Great vibes! Great food! Stayed in great tents, very high grade and comfy beds with electric ports a light and powerful fan
Gary L — Google review
Very centrally located with a lovely garden. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was nice but on the expensive side. Fridays and Saturdays locals come to party there so it can be noisy if you dont want to join in.
Annemarie W — Google review
1* because the staff are nice, food is ok and the pool is in decent condition. I cannot tell you how annoying and loud the bar and music is on a Friday and Saturday night. This is not a review from some old person who goes to bed early - I am a young person who likes to drink, and go out regularly - but it’s an absolute joke how loud and obnoxious the bar is. The music is absolutely awful, like flat roof pub full of your alcoholic neighbours that loves bingo bad. It is so preposterously loud before 1am when they finally turn the music down that it is not possible to sleep anywhere in the entire campsite. The DJ mixes between the cha cha slide into that Madagascar song or the Macarena. Wonderful. Maybe try it out for a night out if you’re yearning for the atmosphere of a terrible stag do but do yourself a favour and do not stay here. Tent also full of mosquitoes with a broken zip so not exactly great either and for some reason the pool is full of children all day
Tom J — Google review
Staff - were great, friendly, and super helpful. Anne, Marv, and Brighton Towels - need replacing, holes, and worn out. The pool looks terrible and needs to be redone. Overall, the place needs attending. Looks run down. Wifi - barely had wifi No hot water - out of 10 showers had 1 warm shower and 3 lukewarm. Rest cold. No communal kitchen Windows - to the communal bathrooms / showers should be frosted. Furniture - in general, is dirty and uncomfortable Rooms - adequate and basic. Mosquito nets are torn and in need of a good soak and clean. Windows cracked. Could do with a good coat of paint. There is no place to keep food. No kettles. It was a decent place because of the staff and location but could do with some attention.

The hotel offers 58 comfortable rooms, including dormitory and campsite options, equipped with air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and private bathrooms. We always stay at this hotel’s campsite when travelling / passing by the area. The campsite is great. Good, roomy spaces. Eatery nearby pool , good sized pool, lovely breakfasts. Helpful and kind staff. WiFi. Ablutions are excellent. Showers great, plenty hot water. All is very clean. Suitable for larger campers. Has overnight security. Nice shops and restaurants within quick reach from the hotel. There is also a tour operating company on the grounds of the hotel. And a small shop for essentials and sweets. The campsite spots have water and electricity plug in. Very recommended place to stop by.

Great location within walking distance to Victoria Falls and the entire town for dining or souvenir shopping. Private and secure. Great little convenience store just past the front desk where you can buy cold water, sodas, beer, soap and other necessities.

We had quite a good time at the N1 hotel and campsite. We weren't expecting much as it was a budget hotel but to be fair it was good for what it was worth. There is nice breakfast range to choose from and accommodation was really good as our rooms were clean and the staff were friendly. I would recommend asking for wifi as it can run out daily. Overall was quite good to stay at and would come again.

We stayed at the N1 Hotel & Campsite Victoria Falls in October 2025. It was perfect!. Good value for money, 10-15 minute walk to Victoria Falls (simply follow the main road or take a short cut), safe and secure, good sized pool and bar area, and a great onsite café for breakfast. The room was clean and tidy, with a great shower and an in-room safe. We ate at The Three Monkey’s restaurant – 3 minutes walk from the hotel. Very popular and great food choices. Although we had pre-booked tours, there were three tour operators based at the hotel – although only one (Wild Horizons) had any physical presence during our entire stay (from 9am to 5pm) which we thought important and they gave us great service whilst we were there. Overall a 10/10 and highly recommended.

I had an amazing stay at N1 Hotel & Campsite Victoria Falls! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The rooms were clean, cozy, and well-maintained, making it easy to relax after long days of exploring. The service was outstanding the staff were friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile 😊. The location is unbeatable, just a short walk from the Victoria Falls entrance, restaurants, and shops. Whether you’re here for vacation or adventure, this place offers great value and comfort. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting Vic Falls!

Perfect place to stay in Victoria Falls, all what you need its around. Walking distance to the Falls,10minutes. Nice restaurants close to. Rooms are clean and tidy. No mosquitoes 😀
Sauliuxcrx2019 — Google review
The room was very, very simple, and a fly managed to enter through a gap in the window frame—even with the window closed. On the positive side, the location is excellent: several tour agencies have desks right at the reception, and it's within easy walking distance of the Falls. If I were to visit again, I’d likely choose alternative accommodation.

The resort is ideal for conferences and offers amenities such as a golf course, tennis courts, squash courts, and a casino. Guests can enjoy balcony views of the wildlife while relaxing in comfort. This hotel is beautiful! Surrounded by nature, you wake up with the sound of happy birds ☺️ if you wake up early, you can see some wild animals in the property since it's near the resort is located on a hill, so we can see the fall's mist and the river from the lounge. Food is delicious, and the staff is very professional and kind. In general, hospitality is excellent, and although I was not able to use the hotel facilities, they seem great: pool, golf course, and spa. The rooms are very comfortable and particularly loved by room on the ground floor with access to the garden and pool area. Thank you, Elephant Hills!

Location is amazing, lovely garden and plenty of animals on site from gazelles grazing in front of your doorstep and monkeys trying to get in your room to occasional crocodiles in the pond. Very comfortable shuttle to and from the town. Restaurant is affordable and delicious, breakfast is wonderful. Rooms are somewhat basic and property is busy and loud in the morning, but overall experience is very positive.

The staff is friendly and so helpful. It's a beautiful resort . Clean resort. The bathroom in our room can use a little bit of an upgrade. Our breakfast was included with our stay. Great variety of food. I enjoyed the omelet bar.The restaurant staff is amazing. They have a shuttle bus on the hour that can take you into town. They also had entertainment dutimg dinner hours. Wonderful views of the sunrise and sunset. You can see Victoria Falls near the bar area.

The place is well kept with an African theme. Great views of the Zambezi River and wild animals can be seen occasionally grazing from the lawn. A home away from home!
Enock L — Google review
It has good views of the golf course and the Vic falls plains. The infrastructure is aged, maintenance efforts are evident and sometimes they miss a few things. There is great effort to please and this allows you to overlook a few shortcomings eventually. Modern TVs is a plus as well.

The staff. Oh the Staff are just... incredible! Professional. Kind. Pleasant. Ill never forget Ambrose (pool) Freedom (front hotel) and Markus (restaurant). The lovely you g lady who made the eggs every morning... and all the staff. Bathroom was spacious and my view from the deck... beautiful!!! I would highly recommend this hotel!!

One of the most beautiful places to visit in Victoria Falls Town. A great combination of everything. View. Elegant service and fine architectural designs and execution. A number of wild life animals nestled within and nearby the vicinity of the Hotel, making it a great combination.

Ilala Lodge Hotel is a top-notch accommodation option located closest to Victoria Falls and the city center. It provides stylish, affordable, and comfortable lodging in a serene and secluded environment. Guests can enjoy watching wildlife graze on the lawn with the majestic spray of the falls as a backdrop. The hotel offers an outdoor pool, a restaurant with a terrace, and stunning views of Victoria Falls. Additionally, it allows visitors to witness the magnificent sight of the falls' spray right from their rooms.
Had a wonderful 2 night stay with the folks at Ilala Lodge Hotel two weeks ago. The reception staff were phenomenal and the activities office staff were great in dealing with the short notice questions and excursions of a solo traveler. Great food in the restaurant! The bar staff was fantastic and the rooms were very nice! Only after leaving did I learn that I needed to try the carrot cake. Would definitely stay again if in the Victoria Falls area.

Very comfortable rooms. Excellent poolside bar, great restaurant with a piano player in the evenings. Well kept grounds. Very tidy, and above all else very welcoming, helpful, attentive and friendly staff. A lovely spot of luxury right next to Victoria Falls (and you can see the "smoke" and hear the "thunder"). Oh...and the wildlife that casually graze and walk around and through the grounds is fabulous (bush bucks, warthog, baboons...and the odd elephant!!!). Highly recommended.
Matthew W — Google review
Ilala lodge has been the best oasis for relaxing and celebrating the beauty of Victoria falls. The food is delicious, it’s been hard convincing myself to leave the premises because I want all my meals there. There are two pools, a bungalow and the service is really kind. I am happy with my experience here.

If you are a light sleeper this hotel is not for you. We were in room 72 and it was very loud till almost 1 am because music was playing next to the hotel. In the am around 6:30 am the noise starts back up again with lots of talking and smashing things around. Not sure where that noise was coming from Helicopters fly all day long, which actually wasn’t bad at all compared to the late night and early morning noise Breakfast had a nice variety and staff good Was not impressed with dinner food or service. (We had a 6:30 reservation, which is early, we wanted to eat outside, they said no and tried to sit us right by the kitchen, we asked to be moved and then proceeded to sit there and watch them serve the table that came in after us with drinks and bread and butter. (Only 4 tables eating at that time) Rooms were very clean and comfortable bed. Air conditioning was on but never felt it. Room was stuffy and you can’t sleep with the windows open because the baboons will come in One positive if you are a walker you can walk to the falls and town

Had a lovely lunch, so we booked for dinner. Starters was also good, ordered the sirloin steak and it was very fatty and tough to eat, we were very disappointed and I will definitely not recommend.
Paul L — Google review
Stayed here for 2 nights. For those seeking peace and quiet - this hotel is not for you. During the day, helicopter tours start from 8am and well into the evening. It is really loud. And during the night, there is a bar next to the hotel in the furthest wing, blasting music. You will feel like in the bar itself because it is that insanely loud. I can’t believe the noise pollution considering the surrounding national park. Service is also lacking - lack of waiters during breakfast, long wait times for room service, in general lack of hospitality, limited breakfast spread (cold food not topped up and hot breakfast was mediocre). The location is near Victoria falls but it does not matter, as we took a cab given the heat during the day. We stayed at Palm River Hotel for a night, sister hotel, and it’s way better than this hotel - it was a sanctuary there, great food, with nature walk and 5-star service. I’m not sure why Ilala lodge has such good reviews when it’s lacking in many aspects.

Lokuthula Lodges, meaning "place of peace" in isiNdebele, offers a charming and family-friendly retreat near Victoria Falls. The lodges are set amidst lush gardens and provide easy access to a swimming pool, bar, and The Boma Cafe with its award-winning Dinner & Drum Show. Guests can choose from two or three-bedroom lodges overlooking indigenous bush, where they can spot warthogs, bushbucks, and various bird species from their private patio.
Stayed at Lokuthula for 3 nights and honestly it was such a peaceful, lovely experience. Got everything I needed, the staff were super friendly, and the whole place just has such a calm, chill vibe. Definitely recommend if you want a relaxed stay close to the falls.

Wow! Simply incredible. Our accommodations delivered everything we expected and more. We stayed in Lodge 23, which was a spacious villa type lodge. We had 2 adults and 3 children, and had more than enough space. What we loved most was being so close to the wildlife. It is important to be mindful of the baboons, wild boar, and other animals surrounding the property, but it was such an incredible experience to have them lounging on our back patio just feet away. The only thing that could top the surroundings and accommodations would be the staff. I would like to give special thanks to Collen, who worked as a waiter at the Buffalo restaurant, and John the Baptist, who is a shuttle driver. Collen was such a joy to see each day and always made sure we had everything we could have needed or wanted during our stay. Each dining experience was superb. John the Baptist ensured safe transport to and from our lodge each night, and had the most interesting stories. All made us feel right at home. A million thanks! We hope to visit again someday!

The property has potential, but the houses are rather dark inside and appear older than shown in the photos. Only one of the rooms is equipped with air conditioning, while the other became uncomfortably hot, with very limited airflow. Despite the presence of mosquito nets, we were bitten quite badly throughout the night. The staff, however, were very friendly and accommodating.

*Google Maps Review (Positive):* Google Maps is an incredibly helpful tool for navigation and exploring new places. It provides accurate directions, real-time traffic updates, and multiple route options. The satellite and street views make it easy to recognize locations, and the ability to search nearby places like restaurants or gas stations is very convenient. Whether walking, driving, or using public transport, Google Maps makes traveling simpler and more efficient.

What a great place for the family to visit with spectacular views. We enjoyed the food at the restaurant and waking up in the morning to see the animals as well as the wildlife walking the grounds. I would highly recommend if you are in the area as this would be a great place to stay.

Comfortable and peaceful stay with easy access to center. We stayed 4 nights and the rooms were comfortable and always clean. I especially loved that they did turn down service and also ensured that windows and fresh air were in the room daily. The staff and team were of honorable mention Charles and Ashleigh were always helpful and supported any need you may need. I also liked that you had a gate key which was perfect for allowing taxis in on your own time and arriving to and from the hotel. Would definitely recommend this lodge for other travelers.

Great hotel with nice rooms and grounds. Grounds are surrrounded by a high wall and automatic gate for which the hotel gives you a remote to get in after-hours, to protect from widlife so you feel very safe walking the grounds at night. Staff are accomidating and nice. Only fault was the firmness of the bed, But would asolutely stay here again if we have the chance.

Bayete is a lovely lodge, in a great location less than 10 minute drive to the falls and 20 minutes to the airport. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. Phasedes was lovely! The food was good, we ate breakfast and dinner here daily. The pool area is relaxing with sunbeds and benches. The gardens are beautiful and there is a resident cat! I would stay at Bayete again if I returned to Vic Falls!

A truly lovely lodge, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay! The staff were warm, welcoming and always friendly. My room was spacious, featuring a large, clean bed with fresh linens and a pleasant scent throughout. Housekeeping went an extra mile with thoughtful touches each day, such as preparing the room for the night by down the bed and drawing the curtains. Breakfast was fantastic, offering a wide variety of delicious options, and I especially appreciated the coffee facilities available throughout the day. A wonderful experience overall!

Adequate. Deluxe room is poorly set up. Cramped so you are always tripping over your suitcases. Had to put one on the floor in the bathroom. No TV, but good AC. Average location, among many other guest lodges in a residential neighborhood with no appreciable views. Good breakfast. Laundry service available, but price is WAY high, so feel free to request a discount. Good staff.

Great location to falls, taxi takes around 10 mins. Town is about the same. There is a 7/11 a short walk from lodge. The lodge offers many activities which the staff will book for you and add to your room invoice, so a ver easy transaction. I had dinner on both nights of my stay at the lodge.

We loved staying at Bayete. It is located in a quiet and safe location in Vic Falls, with lush gardens and comfortable rooms ( we even saw a chameleon in the garden!) a swimming pool and restaurant with lovely meals. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful. They made our stay in Vic Falls a real highlight of our holiday.

We stayed at Bayete guest lodge for 3 nights while exploring Victoria Falls. It’s in a quiet, more residential neighborhood, about a $5 taxi ride from town (though most of our activities included free pick up and drop off). The setting is lush and beautiful, with a nice area to relax around the pool near the open-sided restaurant and bar. The room was basic, but clean, and the daily turndown service was a nice touch. Breakfast was included, but we also ate lunch and dinner there a couple of times and the food was always fantastic. The staff were very friendly and helpful, helping us arrange activities and offering suggestions for places to go/things to do, and even telling us about other parts of Zimbabwe they thought we might enjoy visiting. Romeo, the resident cat, was very charming as well!

Nestled in lush gardens, Batonka Guest Lodge is a tranquil retreat just a short walk from the main attractions. The upscale lodge boasts 27 breezy quarters with modern decor, whirlpool tubs, and private balconies or patios. Guests can unwind in the outdoor pool or dine at the on-site restaurant. Despite a minor reservation mix-up, the lodge's exceptional service and quick accommodation impressed visitors.
I stayed at Batonka Guest Lodge for a couple of nights and had a really lovely experience. The grounds are beautifully maintained and offer a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. Breakfast each morning was delicious, with a great variety and quality. What really stood out, though, was the staff—every single person we encountered was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. A wonderful place to stay, and I wouldn’t hesitate to return!

A quiet and comfortable lodge off the main road thru Victoria Falls. The room was spacious and comfortable with all the standard amenities. The staff was competent and very friendly. The food was solid - albeit a little pricey. The restaurant is a very comfortable space. The location is about a mile or more from the other restaurants and tourist destinations in Victoria Falls - which may not be an issue for everyone but should be understood.

The Batonka Guest Lodge is a wonderful oasis in Victoria Falls. The service across the board is exemplary. The food and wine list are excellent. And the rooms are incredibly comfortable. But it is the overall culture that makes Batonka special. Would I to return to Vic Falls I would not stay elsewhere. It hit all the marks! Thank you Batonka!

Stunning boutique lodge. Very peaceful and charming, with a warm, homey feel. Intimate space for a quiet getaway. Amazing staff who make you feel part of the family, they are so caring. The rooms are huge! Very spacious shower as well. A home away from home, definitely one of my faves in Vic Falls! Also withing walking distance from town.

Stayed 3 nights at the Batonka lodge and overall it is a quaint and quiet place. Unfortunately, it isn't handicapped accessible, even though I was told it was. When I requested an accessible shower stool, I was provided with a dirty, plastic maintenance stool. I was also provided with a heavy lawn chair. My wife had to wash me in the sink for the duration of our stay. The telephone, desk and furniture were extremely dusty. The tea pot was filthy with green mold. The restaurant staff were extremely polite and friendly. The air conditioner does not work and the room was quite warm. Towels are hard and scratchy, with scratchy loofah's provided in lieu of face towels. Only 2 bottles of water are provided daily. Everything is a buy as you need with no snacks provided on the premises. And the restaurant closing at 8 pm. The grounds were lush and green. Overall not a bad place to stay, but not a luxury destination.

Nestled just 2 kilometers from the breathtaking Victoria Falls, Shongwe Lookout is a luxurious lodge that offers an unparalleled experience for travelers seeking both comfort and stunning views. With its prime location, guests can enjoy picturesque sights of the Zambezi River and the mesmerizing spray from the Falls. The lodge features 23 beautifully designed rooms, including deluxe, studio, and executive options to cater to various preferences.
The service here was exceptional. The evening dinner we had, Killian was the front desk host, also keeping his eye on the restaurant. He was so observant of anything needed. The housekeeping staff did beautiful arrangements. Bed comfy. Food delicious. For breakfast they have a cold buffet but you get to order a hot breakfast, not just some eggs like most but a full menu of options. Exceptional. Sent here by Christelle @gondwanatours

Very pricey motel style accommodation. It does not reflect at all three stars. I would respectfully put only one star. Restaurant menu is always same. Breakfast is the same thing. Their restaurant has no grill. If you ask anything grilled they bring you fried one. Management is very low profile. They have a lot to improve. Nice staff and they try to please you always. Check in desk team is the best of this motel. Responding to the lodge: Dear Sir, I said my humble and fair opinion. Please be respectful I am being.

Clean , nice lookout and terrace for eating . Comfortable bed , good size room . The room had a nice private terrace . No refrigerator, only shower gel and hand soap in the bathroom . The room had some shelves and underneath 3 hangers ! Looked tacky . While at the swimming pool we were waiting 20 min to bring us towels . There was extra charge for cappuccino . Way overpriced .

Zimbabwe was the last stop on our Africa journey and it surpassed everything we’d hoped for — Shongwe Lookout included. The lodge has a great ambience, excellent kitchen and rooms that are easy to keep comfortable even with 35°C outside. The grounds and lodge spaces are thoughtfully laid out and feel harmonious. Most impressive was the service: the team truly lives hospitality and you can feel it in every interaction. A special thank-you to the outstanding housekeeping team — top work.

I would like to bring to your attention that while the rooms are clean and pleasant, the service exhibits racial profiling, and we did not receive equal treatment. It is vital to secure your belongings, as we experienced missing items/ money that were never found, and the manager's response was unsatisfactory, stating that we had no proof. The bartenders are selective in their service, and the lunch menu does not change, despite claims of rotation. One redeeming feature is the laundry service, which is available for a fee; however, be aware that the establishment does not take responsibility for missing items, and there are no security cameras on site.

Shongwe Oasis is the ideal place to relax after a weeks long overland-safari or to discover and experience all the adventures which Vic Falls has to offer. We stayed for 3 nights and can only recommend it. The room is spacious and well designed, the pool area is beautiful, just as the dining and bar area. Breakfast is included and plentiful, yet very fresh. Coffee and Tea is available complimentary at any time. We also had dinner one evening which was delicious. We also booked a Dinner Cruise through the lodge and the process was smooth. Last but not least we were spoiled with free refillable water bottles and filtered water and complimentary 30 minutes massages, which we loved! The team is very friendly, attentive and helpful. Locationwise, we always took a taxi into town/Vic Falls NP (5 minutes) however, during the day I assume the area to be safe and roughly 20 minutes by foot from the more touristy area. Just FYI: There is Shongwe Oasis and Shongwe Lookout Lodge. Both are located next to each other. I am not aware of the differences.

Super cute lodge to spend your days at Victoria Falls. The rooms are spacious with shower and bathtub, entrance from a small patio and very luminous. Amazing bed and pillows, everything you need after a long day of sightseeing. Lunch and dinner delicious with many international options. But the factor that convinced me to leave this review is the kindness of staff, always present, eager to help with the most heartwarming smile.

Nestled in the heart of Victoria Falls, Pioneers Lodge is a charming colonial-style retreat that offers an inviting escape for travelers. With its beautifully maintained gardens attracting a variety of birds, guests can unwind by one of the two dipping pools or enjoy leisurely moments on the terrace. The lodge features comfortable accommodations equipped with air conditioning and private bathrooms, ensuring a restful stay. Visitors will appreciate the attentive staff who go above and beyond to assist with itinerary planning and transportation needs, including restaurant reservations.
Pioneers Lodge is the best place we have stayed in our Southern Africa trip. It’s super clean, beautiful and everyone works here is so nice and friendly. On our day trip to Botswana, we could not pass the border without our kids birth certificate. They helped us opened our room and safe twice to get to pictures and finally we were able to go to Botswana with our tour group. The house keepers always put my two stuffed animal Lions in different positions on my bed and brought me such surprises and happiness when I got back from my tours. Everyone say hello to me from the first step I come into the lodge. They helped us arranged super nice farewell drinks and appetizers on the last night of our tour when we put the order. Everyone in our group loved it! We had such a blast and always wished we could get back again. Thank you so much!

Flew Air Africa from Capetown to Vic Falls during once in a lifetime bucket list trip and stayed at Pioneers Lodge. Lovely and welcoming, especially appreciative of open doors upon arrival. Staff friendly and attentive. Meals good. Loved that breakfast was included. Rooms were clean and well maintained. Keys to rooms a little tricky to use. Also light switches difficult to locate. Don't expect to fall fall asleep with TV on. There are no TVs in guest rooms. Only TV is in the lobby. Also at last dinner on property ordered a large Cesar salad to split with a family member and received a small one. Also ordered more bread and water for table and got neither. I think our waiter was new or not attentive.

Absolutely wonderful oasis in vic falls, quiet away from the helicopters and with two pools with some ducks for friends. Don't bother with the fancy places downtown, its super easy and cheap to get a taxi there and back arranged by the wonderful front desk ladies, Charity and Precious. Thanks for putting up with all my many questions! Breakfast is more than sufficient to keep you energized for your day, and the bar was always a welcome respite at the end of the day. Spa was excellent as well. Comfy bed, good AC, and nice shower. Shout out to Simon our driver who also picked up my missing luggage the next day and brought it to our room. Would absolutely stay here again in a heartbeat. Little store and restaurant next door as well if you need something.

Incredibly luxurious place! Rooms are clean, shower has good water pressure (although takes a little fiddling to get the right temperature). AC and ceiling fan which work great. Mosquito nets were prepared by the staff while I was gone. The pools and gardens give an amazing atmosphere, the decoration is really well chosen and the staff is amazing. The breakfast was good with hot and cold foods available, and really good guava juice! I also liked that the pastries changed between days so there's a lot of variety. Shoutout to Peter who was very reactive and polite who I mainly saw during morning service. And shoutout to Wisdom, Blessed and Marc for their genuine kindness and interesting conversations.

We stayed here from the 26th to the 28th July. This is a beautiful place to stay. The colonial architecture is stunning and there are two pools to relax around. The restaurant is also delicious. A lovely place to stay whilst at Victoria Falls. The staff are all super friendly and will make any arrangements you request. The pool is nice and the bar is well stocked. Rooms are fairly basic, but clean and comfortable. A 2 - 3 min drive to town and a 10 minute drive to the waterfalls.

We spent two nights at this lovely and well kept lodge. The staff was very friendly and professional. The buffet breakfast was extensive. The room was well cleaned. I loved the evening fires. This is definitely only a 2 star lodge just suitable for backpackers. Lodge is old, rooms have a basic bed, tv, small fridge, cracked and peeling paint and old linen. We had to move rooms this morning as the first one became completely flooded because the shower drain was blocked. The hot water completely stopped flowing and we had to wait for a group of 8 students to leave before we had any water pressure. Tonight even though we said we wanted some dinner at 5pm the bar and kitchen closed and the staff went home leaving 5 guests without any food. NOT happy as we've had no dinner and no way to call a cab to take us to town as there are no phones in the room and no one in the office. Grounds are nice with a small pool. They are starting to make improvements but have a long way to go to bring it up to standard for tourists.

The rooms where air conditioned and clean. Our bathroom was a bit small but not an issue it was okay. Had a little bar fridge. Pool is functional. Best part was the employees working in the restaurant/ bar. Very nice people. I think the dinner and lunch dishes are too expensive for what you get. As well as the drinks, but breakfast was good. Seemed like it was a bit overwhelming for the staff at times though even though we were less than 20. But I really enjoyed the breakfast. Overall a really good budget option 🤗

We have stayed at many hotels and lodges over the past 30 years but this must be one of the worst, bearing in mind the price that we paid. Two things made it particularly bad: 1. our room had a very bright light that would randomly come on throughout the night, which we had to turn off each time. Avoid room number 3 by the pool at all costs!! We stayed four nights, and none of them were good at all. We left Livingstone Lodge utterly exhausted. Management made no attempt to offer us another room, or to fix the problem. Indeed, the receptionist told us 'that is the design of the light'!!! 2. they employed workmen to work on site late into the evening. Our 2 year old was asleep at 8pm, but was awoken by drilling and banging at 9 and 9.30pm. I had to go and tell the workmen to stop twice, the second time I definitely was more angry than the first time! The breakfasts were pleasant and serving staff nice. But the management abysmal, and unsurprisingly our email wasn't acknowledged or responded to so no apology given at all! I would avoid Livingstone Lodge and look elsewhere. Certainly we will for future visits to the falls.

The staff were polite and helpful. The bed was comfortable and room was clean. But on the 2nd day, I noticed spiders in my room and asked the cleaning staff for bug spray. I think I killed around 6 spiders. Also there’s mosquitoes in the evening near the dining area.

The hotel is very poorly maintained, the rooms are sad, the bathroom is shameful, the towels are full of holes. This is a place not to be frequented. Nkosi Guest Lodge is a fantastic choice for families visiting Victoria Falls, offering an ideal blend of comfort and luxury. Recently, a family of seven enjoyed their stay in three spacious rooms located in the upstairs section of the lodge. This arrangement provided them with exclusive access to a large lounge area and an expansive balcony that overlooks the inviting pool—perfect for cooling off from the heat.
I stayed for 4 nights and enjoyed every moment. Highly Highly recommended! The ladies at the reception are exceptional! I wasn't feeling well the day I arrived. The lady who helped me check in arranged everything for me so I could go to pharmacy and took a malaria test. Another lady helped me book all the activities and the sunset cruise was amazing! They have so warm personalities which made me super comfortable and feel like home. Rooms are always clean and I appreciate their attention to details a lot! Everyday they even fill the kettle, before night when they set the room and put down mosquito net they put mosquito repellent body lotion on the table just beside the bed. I was deeply moved. All the dishes were super delicious too! The brownie served warm with vanilla icecream was just too nice. The lodge is in very quite neighborhood so it is a perfect get away and just enjoy the holiday. At the same time, just several minutes by taxi you can reach downtown and the waterfall. Would really love to come back again!

This was a lovely stay in Vic Falls. The staff and food were lovely. The location was both out of the way and in town at the same time allowing for peace and quiet on the slow mornings. The staff were outstanding throughout my stay. Special thanks to Chengetai who went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Their professionalism, friendliness, and attention to detail truly made a difference and added a personal touch to the experience. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for luxury, comfort, and top-tier service. Can’t wait to return!

Pros: New air-con, pretty decor. Free self-serve tea bags, coffee powder and hot water at the restaurant. Breakfast spread is small but decent. Food is pretty good. Cons: Wi-Fi is slow in room, and the room had an unsteady, rattling bedside table and luggage stand. The bathtub plug isn’t tight, so the water level drops as you soak. Hot water runs out too, so the bathwater turns cold before filling fully. Bed is strangely short — I’m 160cm but my feet stick off the edge. No tissues or small bottled water in the room, but you can get water at reception from a dispenser.

Hotel has a good location , rooms and pool. but unfortunately we had a bad experience with the safety. Some amount of money were stolen from the safe box in our room. Lorrie's Bed and Breakfast offers a warm, homely atmosphere reminiscent of staying with a friend in Zimbabwe. Nestled just 3 km from the entrance to Victoria Falls, this charming B&B features a delightful garden and an inviting open-sided verandah where guests can unwind. Lorrie and Clive are not only welcoming hosts but also storytellers who enhance your stay with their local knowledge.
We stayed at Lorrie's for 5 nights in March 2024, and it was fantastic. Clive is a gracious and knowledgeable host. He was able to assist with all activity arrangements. His relationship with the various tour operators from a great taxi driver to a helicopter company took all the fuss out of our itinerary. During our stay we went to see the vulture feeding, the crocodile farm, the falls (Zim and Zam sides), did a game drive, a sunset cruise and helicopter ride We stayed in the family cottage and it was perfect for our family of 5 (aged 1, 4, and 7) The rooms, aircon and self catering kitchen was well appointed, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was straight forward but hearty and delicious. The garden was tranquil and the swimming pool was a highlight for our kids - we spent a lot of time in it! .
CJ B — Google review
If you only love new, modern and shiny things, this b&b might not be your cup of tea, but if, on the contrary, you are looking to enhance your travel experience, feel truly welcome and get great value for money, this is without doubt a perfect spot for your visit to Victoria Falls. The rustic buildings are situated around a beautifully kept, lush garden (with some gorgeous birds to spot if you have a little patience) and breathe history. You also get some refreshing peace and quiet to contrast with the very busy and touristy falls. Those who love cats and dogs have the added value of some four-legged friends on the property, but they are all well-behaved, so non-animal enthusiasts won’t have to worry either. The biggest plus though are the people. Owner Lorrie and manager Clive are the kind of people that restore your faith in humanity. They gave us advice on our activities that made our final day in Africa extra memorable and went out of their way to help us with a troublesome situation we were in even though they themselves had absolutely nothing to do with it. If you read this, thanks again for your help and hospitality! We truly appreciate it. And your keepsake has received a nice place in our home :)

I stayed here for around 2 months and loved it. Lorries has such a family feel. It’s also really geographically convenient!! It’s about a 5-10 minute drive to get anywhere you want. (They have a reputable taxi so you don’t have to worry about that.) there is also an amazing coffee caravan right across the street and down the road there is “7-11” the hours are more like 9-5 haha so keep that in mind when shopping there. ❤️

Lorrie has been an amazing hostess during my stay. I left my luggage in the morning before check in as I needed to go on a tour and she reassured me everything to be taken care of and enjoy my tour. Thanks Lorrie once again as I booked for a single room but ended up getting a nice family room with an en-suite toilet without extra cost. The B&B does have some dogs and I love the cute black dog who keeps on wanting to play with me 😀. The breakfast was amazing! Lovely English breakfast with some fruit salad, yoghurt and juice. Lorrie also asked me to choose a table mat when I checked out as token of remembrance of staying here. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. It is quiet, cosy and has little swimming pool here and the staffs here are really friendly too. The property is quite close to town. I walked back from town to the property. It took me 20-30 mins for that. All rooms come with air-condition. You can request for air-conditioning with additional cost. Many thanks to Clive for showing me to the room and surroundings of the property and Lorrie for the lovely hospitality. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a good reasonable pay stay in Victoria Falls

What a wonderful beginning and such a great omen for the rest of our time in Africa. From the time we booked, communication was excellent - Lorrie asked if we needed transport from the airport and if we’d like dinner at their place the night of our arrival for very reasonable rates. She made all of the arrangements and ensured that our first day in Zimbabwe was easy. Our meal of lasagna cooked by Mark was delicious and we were encouraged to serve ourselves 2nds and 3rds. Our most lasting memory, though, will be of our time talking about our countries and exchanging perspectives with Lorrie, Clive and Mark after dinner. We would highly recommend Lorrie’s for the accommodations, meals and warm welcome! We hope to return.

We spend in Nyota 5 days. Place is safe familly business situated walking distance to entrance to National Park (falls) with very nice hosts Mambo and Brodget who take care about guests. Is still developing so we recommend it for stay definitelly. Tastes of Africa you will feel here definitely. Wifi works excellent. Mambo thank you for this place.

Quality and classy, so nice and clean

The lady who managed the hostel hardly spoke, not sure if she was shy but didn't explain the facilities or take me on a tour, someone else (who picked me up from the airport) did. I was basically left to my own devices. I got a bit to myself, which was great. After the culture shock wore off, I appreciated the privacy and the full bathroom facilities in my room. The grocery store is close - walking distance - for which you can buy groceries for cheap and was a bonus that I had my own fridge in my room. I would have preferred to have been at a place with more people/travelers but this place was nice too.

Firstly, It's important to note that one should manage their expectations when travelling to developing countries and not compare it directly to the creature comforts one may be lucky enough to have in one's home developed country. This hostel is fit for purpose, the staff are very friendly, the breakfast was decent and more importantly, they did their best. I would like to see the swimming pool maintained a little better and a few more charging sockets and fans, albeit electricity was scarce during my time in Zim so I don't know how useful that would be anyway!

My stay with Mambo was great. Sheik was extremely accommodating and incredibly generous. He picked me up from the airport and dropped me and other guests off at dinner. He was considerate and kind and always worried about the wellbeing of his guest.

Lodge
VicFalls Premier Lodges is a charming bed and breakfast located in the suburbs of Victoria Falls, just 2km from the famous waterfall. The lodge offers spacious air-conditioned rooms with en suite bathrooms, DSTV, and around-the-clock check-in service. The friendly staff provides personalized service and delicious made-to-order meals. Guests can also take advantage of amenities such as laundry service.
This is a simple but nicely furnished room with all the amenities needed. The food is made to order and the wait staff is very friendly. They accommodate the crazy schedules related to flights to and from Victoria Falls and the many tours or safaris you may engage in. I used the laundry service, and it was top rate. There is no need to over pack on vacation. I loved chatting with the staff and learning more about their country and life. I felt like family.

Very friendly staff, food ok , three nights, food, tbone every night, drinks for two $51. Our guide , Innocent, was very good. Tips, average monthly income is $300, so if there's a group of say 20 and you all Tip $10 a day that's 20*10* 30 , that's an extra $6000 a month or more than $70000 a year. Some were tipping $50+. One guy over $100. So Innocent is probably taking in over $100k a year after tax making him richer than many of his pensioner guests. So tips of $2-$5 are very good.

Needs some work to compete with other lodges around the area and improve the standard. The breakfast menu does not change every day. What you see on the website is not what you get.
Uncle B — Google review
This place is rubbish. Stayed there with my team ten nights and we were consistently served either badly prepared meat or rotten chicken. We repeatedly complained to the owners who not only were rude but irresponsible and failed to take responsibility. Only breakfast was OK the rest of the meals were trash. We had no choice because we had made upfront payment.

Such a beautiful place, affordable and well maintained. If you are in Victoria Falls and need a quiet spot within the city, this is the place for you!!

Garden very beautiful but the rooms are not well taken care of. The bathroom was the worst, i experience was bad. What makes a guest room its the bathroom, water all over the place. The beds not comfortable.

(Translated by Google) I really appreciated the thoughtfulness of the female owner. When I washed my laundry by hand, she did it for free, and when I needed a ride to or from a sightseeing spot, she also provided transportation for a fee. She also helped me make restaurant reservations. I'd like to come back here again when I visit Zimbabwe.

A real gem - rooms were fantastic, very comfortable (aircon is a huge win). Kitchen has an oven, stove , microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge and freezer and even a washing machine (bring detergent). Owner lives on site and was accessible and extremely helpful at all times. Kept checking we had what we needed and was more than happy to call and order transport or anything else needed. Large pool with deck chairs was great for the hot days, braai facilities and lawn games made the whole visit very comfortable. Staff came to clean the rooms daily and were all fantastic and super friendly. Highly recommend a visit.
