The Garden Cafe, located in Granada, Nicaragua, is a popular spot offering a variety of food options such as fresh salads, fish tacos, pesto sandwiches, hummus plates, avocado dishes, and more. It's known for its delicious coffee and pastries as well. The cafe is nestled in a lush garden setting providing a tranquil escape from the city's hustle and bustle.
My favorite spot for food! We came here for lunch and a separate time just for dessert. The passionate fruit cheesecake was amazing. I had the fish tacos. And the smoothie with tahini, banana, dates and espresso was EXCELLENT!! The service is great and love the atmosphere, especially sitting outside with the lush green/garden around.

It’s more of a small cage with protein shakes and sandwiches etc. the shake I had was literally amazing nothing like I have ever had before. If you need a protein shake go here. The fish was really tasty and came with beets. The sliders came with mostly Fillers and not enough pork. Mostly foreigners go here and they have a small gift shop and homemade deserts.
Julian — Google review
We really enjoyed our lunch at The Garden Café in Granada. The food was delicious, I had the steak sandwich, which came with plenty of meat and was full of flavor. The little garden is a lovely spot to sit and relax, a peaceful escape right in the city. The only downside was that our waitress didn’t seem very friendly, which took away a bit from the experience. Still, the food and setting make this a place worth visiting.
Felix B — Google review
We absolutely loved this restaurant. Great healthy food options. The food is outstanding, I looked around the store while our food was being prepared. Will definitely be back for a salad for dinner. Highly recommend! #TheGardenCafe

Beautiful place for light and heavy food. Delicious various coffe types. Has a small variety of pastry. Service to client is top of the cream. Environment is awesome. At night parking on the ave is fine. Some one will look out for it and of course for a tip but that's fine.

The Garden Café is such a cozy spot in Granada. Great coffee, tasty food, and the courtyard is the perfect place to just chill for a while. Always feels welcoming and easy to hang out.

THE BEST CAFE IN GRANADA! I cannot express how much I love this place. I visit multiple times throughout the week they are amazing. Their food is amazing! I would say a decently wide variety of options out there! I personally love their hamburger, the pickle sauce that comes with it is DELICIOUS! Their deserts are perfection! They have a cutest cafe in there with a display of some pastry options. They also have a cute little shop to shop around in with SO MANY GOOD FINDS! Another favorite is they have books you can borrow or exchange! I think that is such a fun little addition! But the best is their employees! Going to other cafes or restaurants in Granada I can easily say this place has the best employees. They are so attentive to every need/ want! They are so understanding especially towards language barriers! Almost all of their employees understand English very well, and a lot can speak it. I know for me and some of my friends who have come Byron has been our favorite! He serves us almost every time and has been nothing short of perfection! Erick, Alex, and Jose always greet us with a friendly face! EASILY best place!
Annessa B — Google review
If I could, I would give Garden Cafe 11 out of 10 stars. The design of the space is flawless. Simple with lots of lush landscaping and cool tile throughout. The food is incredible. So fresh and a great variety of flavors and options. Everyone who works here is very friendly and helpful. Amazing and will be back soon!!!

Middle Eastern restaurant
Pita Pita is a Middle Eastern and pizza restaurant located in Granada, Nicaragua. The restaurant offers a choice of salad with their meals and is known for its fresh and perfectly executed dishes such as labneh, Greek salad, and extra pita. The interior has a quirky charm with hanging empty bottles, creating a unique atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy a special tasting plate and kebabs for dinner at reasonable prices.
This place is amazing! We came twice in 3 days. Had the falafel plate, the cauliflower, and one of the salads. All of it was incredible. Lots of vegan options. Very nice staff and lovely garden setting.
Lea C — Google review
Really nice ambience for dinner. I got the Shawarma plate and my friend got the falafel player along with some Tamarind drink. Everything tasted okay. The prices are little on the higher range for the food I think especially considering the meat from the shawarma didn't feel as if it was made in slow vertical roast and was a bit dry and chunky, as if made on a flat grill.
Kunal B — Google review
I stopped into Pita Pita for dinner after a long travel day, and was so glad I had pinned it to my Google map before arriving. The service was friendly and prompt, and the food was delicious! I had a watermelon juice, tzatziki/pita, and a Greek salad with chicken. The last time I had a salad like that was in Greece in 2011. Fresh vegetables, lightly dressed, with a crumble of feta on top. Perfection. My bill was $22, which I was happy to pay for a solid meal. I hope to go again before I leave. Edited to say: In the week that I’ve been in Granada, I’ve eaten here FOUR times. Messiel was the sweetest server and Spanish teacher. I’m telling everyone I know to come here!!
Danielle A — Google review
We've made this a regular spot! The service and food are always fantastic. The restaurant is clean and comfortable. The portions are a good size, fresh, flavorful and well prepared. We have enjoyed pizzas, lasagna and Mediterranean plates. I also love their Turkish coffee. Honestly, I doubt you can go wrong with any selection.
Penny S — Google review
What a great meal! For starters, the service is great. Made to feel welcome as soon as I walked in. I had the shawarma chicken. It came with pita and various salads as well as hummus. It was delicious. I want to return to try their pizza. Edit: I corrected the photo situation, these are from Pita Pita! I also did go back for some pizza... it was really good!
Patrick B — Google review
Very delicious place with man vegetarian options! Totally recommended when in Granada. We had the big starter plate and shakshouka and were more than happy with our choice!
Jasmin S — Google review
Finding Middle Eastern cuisine in Nicaragua was quite a surprise. We chose to have an assortment of different disches: hummus, suvlaky, kebab and pizza. Everything tasted really good, they also own a true pizza oven which results in delicious pizza. My only remark is that they are quite expensive in Nicaraguan terms.
Felix B — Google review
Great food - we come here every time we visit Granada. The hummus and falafel are fantastic! Delicious food and a great atmosphere. Thanks to Emanuel for the friendly service!

Nestled within the charming Hotel Casa San Francisco, Bocadillos Tapas Kitchen & Bar is a hidden gem in Granada that you won't want to overlook. This delightful eatery emphasizes seasonal ingredients sourced from local farmers, showcasing the culinary passion of its Nicaraguan-American owners. With both indoor and outdoor seating options, guests can enjoy a cozy atmosphere while indulging in an enticing selection of small plates perfect for sharing with friends.
Nestled within Hotel Casa San Francisco, Bocadillos Tapas Kitchen & Bar offers a fantastic dining experience in Granada. With cozy indoor and outdoor seating options, this place serves up a variety of tasty dishes. We tried their small plates, made with local ingredients and bold flavors, and they were amazing! From the Pipian Parmesan and the Fish Tacos, to Chicken Tamal to the Drunken Gnocci everything was delicious. Don't skip dessert! Their Warm Bread Pudding with Rum Raisin Glaze and vanilla ice cream was the perfect way to end our meal. And the drinks? So good! We enjoyed Virgin Macua, Samba Sour, and Mojito Maracuya. All of them refrshing and delicious. . Bocadillos was fantastic. Great food, cool atmosphere, and friendly staff. It's definitely a must-visit spot in Granada and the only restaurant we went to twice because we loved it so much!
Paula B — Google review
We had a perfect evening at Bocadillos. Loved the cocktail happy hour (3-6pm) with very decent Mojitos and Macuas and then enjoyed the tapa style dished with highlights on the pulled pork sliders and boletas de papas. Also can highly recommend the bread pudding dessert with vanilla icecream which was one of best I've ever had (maybe the cocktail happy hour influenced my judgement at this point lol) . The service was also super attentive and friendly
F S — Google review
Had a great experience at this restaurant. Great service, had a fan turned on for us at our table right away. Food came out fast. We had the bruchetta, mushrooms, a the arepas. Everything was delicious. For it being tapas, it was all very filling! Wish we could have tried more.

Great spot! With kind service, nice people and tasty generous Tapas. Good wine and drinks too.

My last trip to Nicaragua I went to Bocadillos, and I’m so glad I did! They had great food, drinks and ambiance. I was about to leave but I found out they were having a band! I’m so glad I did, what a great night!
Katy V — Google review
tasty tapas, cozy atmosphere.
Ignacio S — Google review
Tbh I'm leaving 5 stars because of the amazing local craft beer selection here!! The tapas menu was superb as well of course and the food was delicious and brought out quickly. But wow, they had every Nicaraguan craft beer available in bottle, I imagine. Great service and the space had a great vibe and decor. A must-visit in Granada!!
Ryan H — Google review
Great food, drinks and service. Happy hour 2-for-1 offer on select drinks from 4-6 PM. No complaints except for the sauteed mushrooms. They charged us $4 USD for a tiny plate of FOUR cut-up mushrooms, which was ridiculous. These were basic mushrooms-not chanterelles, truffles or even baby Portabellos! Management needs to adjust either the portion or the price of that dish because it was quite the shock to us. The ribs and fish tacos were good though. And their homemade hot sauce was spicy and delicious!

Tucked away behind caged doors, Restaurante El Garaje is a delightful gem in Granada run by a charming Canadian couple. This intimate eatery offers a cozy, home-like atmosphere with an open kitchen and menus displayed on the walls. Open only for lunch during weekdays, it’s a favorite among locals who often stop by for take-out. The menu changes daily and features an eclectic mix of fresh dishes, including fish, meat, organic salads, and vegetarian options.
One of the best lunches weve had in months! The staff are so friendly, the layout of the restaurant is very homely! The food was incredible, so fresh, very generous portions & just overall amazing! We had the bbq pulled pork roll & the caprese sandwich. Couldn’t recommend enough
Ross C — Google review
Great little spot for lunch ! So many amazing things in the menu to choose from, so we shared 3 of them ! Delicious !
Joanne B — Google review
Definitely a place worth a visit! Had the Tamarind Chicken sandwich, which was absolutely amazing. Prices are affordable and food is of high quality and good portion sizes. The owners are both very sweet and lovely. CASH only
Jessica F — Google review
Excellent! They are only open for lunch and they only take cash but definitely worth it. The menu changes weekly and everything was so fresh. I had a tandoori chicken pita which was fantastic and a nice change from the typical food.
Ken F — Google review
El Garaje is a nice little spot for lunch for those who enjoy savory sandwiches and lunch fare with deference to locally sourced and organic ingredients. The menu isn't huge or even extremely diverse, but the offerings they have are very well done and very tasty. I may have missed it when looking for my lunch spot that day, but El Garaje is CASH ONLY, credit cards not accepted. Fortunately, I had plenty of cash with me. A nice lunch for 2 with beverages, including local tax and gratuity, ran about $17 The food is a great value and worth the visit if you're in the area.
James D — Google review
This is a cute restaurant inside a beautiful colonial building in the center area of town. They offer creative and delicious handcrafted sandwiches. I had the pulled pork sandwich and unsweetened ice tea. The generous helping of pork was lean and tender. The homemade BBQ sauce was divine as well as the homemade bun. The coleslaw was tangy, fresh and crunchy. 10 out of 10 service too. English spoken.
Candina 1 — Google review
I’ve been coming here since 2012, with long stints of going multiple times a week. Delicious, clean, farm fresh food with staples and a weekly rotating menu. Vegan and vegetarian options available, but they cure their own meats so if you are a meat lover, this is your lunch place. It tends to fill up early in high season and can be difficult or impossible to get a table, but generally if you are there at 11:30 you won’t have a problem no matter the time of year. The menu is in English fyi.

The best sandwich since many years ago! If it wasn't the best one ever 🤔🥰 Lime-Ginger Chicken with Pineapple mango salsa is the perfect combination! And worth to try

Nestled behind the stunning Granada Cathedral, Nectar is a vibrant gem on Calle Calzada, a lively street brimming with dining and nightlife options. Fun and delicious restaurant! Stopped there for lunch with kids and adults of all ages. Service was excellent, food was yummy and the ambiance was nice. We loved it. Especially loved the nachos, soup, ceviche and fish tacos.

Nice place to grab some lunch. I stopped here and got a Limonada and Burger and Fries. Everything tasted decent and the service was good too.
Kunal B — Google review
Good menu with lots of options and excellent service! Lively atmosphere at the tables outside. Parillada was a large portion
Sheridan W — Google review
My daughter and I really delicious meal at Nectar on La Calzada! The street was busy and lively, and we loved the vibrant atmosphere. For appetizers we had some tostones & cheese, crispy plantains topped with fresh cheese and salsa (so so good, perfect for sharing), and the comforting tortilla soup, full of flavor and topped with avocado and crispy strips. The portions where big! For our main course, we enjoyed the tostada salad, a crispy tortilla filled with rice, beans, chicken and avocado. It had a perfect mix of flavors and textures. The jalapeño chicken, a traditional Nicaraguan dish, was cooked just right and served with rice, potatoes, and salad, with just the right amount of spiciness. We tried this dish in several places and this was our favorite version. For dessert we had the coconut flan. It was creamy, sweet and delicious with just the right amount of coconut flavor. We also had refreshing drinks. I had the mojito and my daughter enjoying a choco banana smoothie. Both were really good. I really liked that Nectar has a diverse menu, with both traditional Nicaraguan dishes and international options. We saw lots of families there and I loved that they have a kid's menu! The staff was friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived.
Paula B — Google review
The waiter's here are very friendly. The food looks beautiful and sounds amazing but honestly, it's....meh.....the best part of the meal was the yucca chips. My husband had the Cajun fish sandwich and I had the Aloha cheeseburger.....they did not meet expectations. Nectar does 9ffer some vegetarian options though so if that's your thing it's worth a try.
Stacey P — Google review
The location and atmosphere are lovely and staff are very helpful but the food was appalling. The tacos were stale and cold and felt like the food had been sitting out for ages.
Cassia T — Google review
We have been travelling in Nicuragua now for 3 weeks. This is the first place that I think really deserved their tip. Very good and quick service, delicious food and a good vibe. What I really like here also is that the government tax is included in the price on the menu

A charming little gem just off of La Calzada! We enjoyed the traditional Nica breakfast so much that we came back for lunch. We tried the tipico pollo and the pollo cafe de artes (the menu picture was too tempting to resist!). The coco flan was delicious. While the food was satisfying, the real highlight was the incredibly attentive and friendly staff—their service made everything taste even better. Highly recommend this spot and we'll definitely be back on our next visit.

Customers praise the thin crust pizzas with various flavors that can be customized, making it suitable for sharing. We stopped in for dinner and were very impressed. To be quite honest the pizza was good, but not the best I've had. But still very good. The ravioli on the other hand was by far the best I've ever had and the bruschetta was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be back!

Had a late night pizza craving and the Monna Lisa Supremo tamed it. Had it to go but the venue was nice and lively. I walked back to the hotel and pizza in tow but munchies took over and I stopped by the park and wolfed it down. A stray dog stopped by and I gave him a slice and his tail lit up.

WHAT TO EXPECT? Italian restaurant with a dozen 4 seater tables on one of Granada's main foodie streets serving pizzas and pastas. POSITIVES- Tasty homemade Italian pastas, big portions, strong cocktail, friendly and fast service, lots of choice of pizzas and pastas. Funny mona Lisa sign outside. NEGATIVES- Lack of air con / good fans making it quite hot during heat of day. Some of the meals more western prices. PAY / COST / PRICE- Can pay by card. Can pay by cash. 10% tip automatically added. OUR ORDER- We had a victoria classica, aperol spritz, shrimp pasta in spicy tomato sauce, salmon and pistachio pasta in cream sauce. Pasta was al dente and tasty. Total cost for meal with tip was 1664cordoba / £33 / 44USD

Lovely people, very nice waiter, impeccable service. A bit disappointed by a pizza. Tomato sauce tasteless. Italian sausage a bit far from I'm used to 😅 Missing something. Pasta were ok but a bit salty, madam said. The Mona Lisa dessert was good!😎
Alexandre — Google review
The owner is an arrogant un caring. Do not complain about anything she will shout you down. Food was good, but she is just not worth confronting. Choose Pan de Vida or Tele Pizza instead. I eat out about 5 times a week. I Spend several months a year in Granada. But Mona Lisa has lost a lot all of my business. I also recommend restaurants to my many acquaintances. But never could I subject them to this arrogant Italian lady. She needs a course in treating customers with respect.

The best pizza I've had anywhere in the world was here! The dough was perfect and the right amount of toppings. Fantastic food, great service from both the waitstaff and the kitchen. Highly recommend to anyone looking for authentic Italian cuisine.

Nestled in the heart of Granada, Pan De Vida Granada is a charming eatery that captures the essence of Nicaraguan cuisine with a unique twist. This delightful spot features a rustic ambiance highlighted by its inviting fire oven and picnic-style seating, making it perfect for leisurely afternoons. Guests are welcomed like family by Sarah and her attentive staff, who ensure an unforgettable dining experience. The menu boasts an array of traditional dishes alongside innovative specials infused with unique spices and ingredients not commonly found elsewhere in Nicaragua.
Had great Hawaiian style and meat lover’s style pizzas with Cobb salad. I haven’t been in Granada for several years but I must say that this is the best Pizza I’ve had in Nicaragua. Cynthia provided great Service and I will definitely come back again with the family.

Nice restaurant with tasty food. I had a vegetarian bean burger, and my boyfriend chose the classic one—both were quite good. The potato wedges served with the burgers were absolutely delicious. We also tried a cinnamon roll, which was nice too. The place has a busy and touristy vibe, but luckily, we didn’t have to wait too long for our food. The staff was friendly and welcoming!
Karolina D — Google review
We were in Granada three days and ate here everyday! We only ate at one other place while we stayed out here. This place is so beautiful. Very chill vibes. You wall in and see a beautiful fire oven gave such rustic feels. Love how the fresh bread is out and available for viewing. You walk into the back and walk into a beautiful sit down restaurant. Picnic style tables in the middle could seat 8. The bar has everything and serve excellent drinks- we were the biggest fans of the Mexican micheladas! Marg and Moscow mule also good! Service was great. Kind staff and you can tell this is a little family! The owners Kevin and Sarah are great people and love what they’re doing with this place! I could go on and on about the food. We had legit everything and even got food delivered to the house. Pizza. Sushi. Edamame. Banana Bread. Tacos. Pasta. BLT Sandwich. The French fries omfg perfection so crispy. Ice mocha they made because I asked if they could. We were told by the owners about the best table (best for view of whole place) and everytime we walked in, went straight to “our table”. Honestly one of the most relaxing parts of Granada was coming in here and knowing we were going to eat GOOD! Fav employee? Kingston- ask about him (;
Jennifer L — Google review
One of the best spots in Granada for food. A huge selection with wood fired pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, pastas and a whole array of Japanese food. The cinnamon rolls, cookies and pastries were also some of the best I’ve had in Central America. It’s a little on the pricier side (300-400 Cordobas for a main) but definitely worth going to if you can stretch the budget.
Rory S — Google review
Wow—where to begin? This place is incredible! Sara, her team and Kingston, deliver top-tier service and consistently mouthwatering food. Whether you're craving fresh sushi, the most unforgettable Cubano sandwich, or perfectly crisp brick oven pizza, every dish hits the mark. It's the ideal spot for groups with diverse tastes—there’s truly something for everyone, even the pickiest eaters. And if you’ve got room for dessert, don’t skip the cinnamon buns. They’re a must!
Maria S — Google review
I had high hopes for this restaurant but unfortunately it was my first and only disappointing meal in Granada. First, hardly anyone smiles in here. When I walked in, I made eye contact with two employees behind a counter, as I was trying to figure out where the hostess stand was. They just stared blankly. Ooooookay?? I figured they weren’t greeters because they couldn’t even manage a smile and bienvenidos. Terrible first impression. I found a server who seated me and ordered a margarita and a water. The margarita tasted like it was made with some kind of drink mix. It was a lot of liquid and sugar but I was hot so I drank it. I ordered the Cobb salad for my entree…when I tasted it, there was…nothing. Between the service and the subpar food - I was over it. I don’t eat bad food when I can help it and especially not when there’s an amazing Mediterranean spot down the street. I paid my tab and left. Two stars only because the courtyard was clean. Hopefully this was just an off day.
Danielle A — Google review
It’s hard to go wrong with pizza. This place does have other options, but we chose pizza and calzones. They were good and hit the spot. The restaurant has bottled beer, but their soda options were limited and odly were not refrigerated. It’s outdoor seating with several parts covered with ceiling fans (no air conditioning). They also have a small selection of baked goods like cinnamon rolls. We would come back.
Ted E — Google review
Absolutely love this place! The food is incredible, the staff is amazing, and they're so welcoming to pets – my dog adores it here too! One of my favorite spots for a perfect meal with great vibes. Can't wait to come back! 🍴

This cafe is a great place to relax and chat with friends or family. They have a wide variety of coffees, tea, and frappes to choose from, as well as some delicious sandwiches and salads. In addition to coffee, they also offer soups for lunchtime. The staff are always willing to help out if you need it, and the atmosphere is super relaxed.
Enjoying delicious food in a nice atmosphere with great kind customer service. So nice to have this concept where you support local community and in the same time offer good quality services. I ordered an spanish tortilla, ice tea and coffee. The coffee was even way better then the one I had in Colombia. The best is all the personal smiles at you, always treated with a smile.

A wonderful place and an even more wonderful project. The staff is very attentive - even though we couldn’t communicate with words, our smiles were the most beautiful connection. I enjoyed browsing through the lovingly curated selection: coffee, prints, magnets, postcards, jewelry, and macramé pieces. The café invites you to stay. I had a melon smoothie and the Spanish lunch, both were super tasty. I’d come back anytime and happily support this special project again.

A special cafe that employs people with disabilities, specifically, the deaf. A quiet place with a huge atrium where you can also learn sign language thanks to the alphabet and most common signs pasted on the walls. The coffee was good and the pineapple juice very refreshing. The waiting staff was super kind. You can also see a few guys knitting hammocks and they will even show you how to do it. I always prefer spending money in places like this that have a charitable goal.
Ana N — Google review
Very interesting place and I love their mission- helping people with disabilities. The service was with a smile. I got the Desayuno Nica or Plato Nica along with Jugo de Pina (Pineapple Juice) and Cafe. Everything tasted good. If you are in Granada, do visit here to not only support a good cause but also good food.

Very happy to come here and support this amazing charity and cafe. Coffee is standard nothing speciality but it was 30NIC so I am not complaining

Fantastic cafe that employs the deaf and helps the community in soooooo many ways. Tio Antonio is there and needs your help to keep this project active. It has been completely self-sufficient for years but after the recent politics and loss in tourism, they are struggling. Come have a great meal and buy a hammock or 10 from their store! Tell your friends. Amazing place!!!!

Very nice project, with welcoming people, providing chances to work! The waitress in the coffee was extremely friendly. They sell the beautiful hammocks made there and also took the time to explain the whole project.

Tostometro is a charming fast food restaurant located in the heart of Granada, Nicaragua. It's known for its dedication to providing high-quality and flavorful dishes. The restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring classic burgers, crispy fries, and unique local specialties that highlight Nicaragua's rich culinary heritage. One of its standout offerings is the tostone burger, where smashed and fried plantains are used as buns for meat or veggie options.
Wow! Heard about the hype of these and they’re so worth it. Was super impressed at how good it was. Not sure what the sauce is but it’s delicious. I definitely recommend having it with the beef, it was melt in your mouth. The veggie option was also impressive as it came with an abundance of veggies. Super filling too! We did have to wait a while for a table but it’s worth hanging around for.
Jennifer P — Google review
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hands down the best burger I’ve had in my life (no exaggeration!) This place is a must-try if you're in Granada. After 4 months of traveling through South and Central America, this was the most memorable meal I’ve had. I ordered the beef banana burger and it was mind-blowing. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the sauces, made from the chef’s mom’s secret recipes took it to the next level. The pumpkin sauce with ginger and honey and the avocado sauce were out of this world. They even served a pumpkin ginger honey dessert for free which was such a thoughtful touch. The hibiscus and ginger juice was fresh, flavorful and paired beautifully with the meal. The chef is incredibly kind and clearly passionate about his craft, you can literally taste the love in every bite. Also, special mention to the music playlist, great vibe all around. I’ll definitely go back, and I already know I’ll be dreaming about this taste until I return.

Meat and veggies in a plantain bun, made with love! One beef, one chicken, both insanely tasty. So much flavour. Washed down with Jamaican tea and Afro house! Proper vibes in this joint, just go.

Delicious food. Catered very well to my two vegan friends. The staff were so welcoming and friendly and we were given the opportunity to try a small starter and dessert for no cost. Highly recommend :)
Eibhlin24 — Google review
This was without a doubt the most delicious thing I have tasted in Granada, Nicaragua. The beef is not a burger, it’s like a flank steak. The crispness of the toston “bun” was complimentary to the soft tenderness of the steak. The cherry on top was the calabaza sauce that had flavor out of this world. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for excellent food in this city

Tosto Metro is more than just a restaurant — it's an experience. I'm lucky to call Amos, the owner, a friend. His energy is magnetic and his creativity shows in every dish. The food here is on another level — bold, unique, and full of surprises. The pumpkin sauce, honey, and ginger combo? Unreal. It’s a flavor explosion you won't find anywhere else. The location has a charm of its own, and the people here — staff and patrons alike — are warm, sweet, and welcoming. The good vibes are real, and all the glowing reviews don’t lie. If you’re looking for a place that’s full of heart, flavor, and soul — this is it. 🔥🍽️💛

Don’t believe the hype. Worst meal I have had in all of Nicaragua. I shouldn’t be surprised as they practically chase people down the street with menus trying to enlist customers - this should’ve been a red flag but based on the reviews I gave it a shot. This place is a swing and a miss.

Nestled in the heart of Granada, Nicaragua, Maria Elena Patisserie is a charming bakery and coffee shop that has quickly become a local favorite. With its inviting glass display case showcasing an array of delectable baked goods, choosing what to indulge in can be quite the challenge! This delightful spot is perfect for everything from cozy date nights over tiramisu on the patio to grabbing a quick café con leche before heading to church on Sunday mornings.
Super friendly small neighborhood café with excellent coffee and pastries. It doesn't even have its name above the door - because it doesn't need to! Amazingly close to centro....but not touristy. Love it!
David G — Google review
Wow. I've had a lot of mediocre tiramisu in my life, but the tiramisu here is fantastic. This place is busy with locals from opening to closing every day for good reason. They also make truly good espresso coffee drinks, better than almost every other cafe we've been to in the last 3 months in Central America.

Did not like the tres leches here at all. The whip cream didn’t taste like whip cream at all and the flavour seemed low quality. The service and atmosphere didn’t seem super friendliest either. (Pretty sure we got overcharged too). A pass for us!

5 stars from me are well earned, and this place needs 10 stars. The cakes🍰 are delicious. I highly recommend the "tres leches" cake and the cup, however whatever you choose you will be extremely satisfied with, no doubt. It isn't expensive at all but if it was, I'd still buy there as anything they make tends to be amazing. This is one of those places that only locals tend to know about and foreigners go to the more expensive places for lesser quality products, so if you are visiting Granada, DO NOT MISS IT!!!!!! Incredible place to visit and Maria Elena will tend to be there so make sure you have a chat with her if you can, she is extremely sweet :) NOTE: Once 4 pm hits, this place gets busy so make sure to keep that in mind and go there earlier if you want to beat the rush 😉

Wish we had come here sooner on our trip! I tried many different coffee shops in Granada and this is definitely the best, with some speciality coffee options and the usuals. Coffee was a great flavour. I had a banana peanut butter smoothie and asked them to add coffee to which they happily did and it was so good! The banana bread was delicious Nice place to sit for a while, very peaceful with calm music playing and a garden. The staff were very attentive and polite. Note that tax isn’t included and is added at the end, so this place does end up being quite expensive.

Gaia Forest Café is a beautiful spot set in a charming colonial building. We had coffee and pancakes, and both were excellent: fresh, flavorful, and made with locally sourced ingredients. The people working there are also very friendly. A wonderful place to relax, enjoy good food, and support local producers in Granada.

Restaurante El Tercer Ojo Nicaragua, which translates to "The Third Eye" in Spanish, is a dining spot located in downtown Granada. The restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring Nicaraguan and international cuisine, including sushi. While the food is of good quality and served in generous portions, it comes at a higher price compared to local standards. In addition to typical beer options, the restaurant boasts an impressive selection of craft beers, including a specially brewed stout.
Great food, varied menu, our waiter Alfredo was the best! Try the beef tacos with the Nutella crepe for dessert. Alfredo even gave me mini Spanish lessons and laughed at my bad jokes!
J W — Google review
Spanish for "The Third Eye", this is a place in downtown Granada that serves a variety of foods, both Nicaraguan and gringo cuisine, in addition to oddities like sushi. Food is good, with very large portions, but is very expensive by Nicaraguan standards, with many mains costing about USD$12-20. Has the usual selection of Toña and Victoria beers, but also what is probably the best collection of craft beers in Granada, including a stout brewed specifically for El Tercer Ojo. Domestic beers less than USD$2, while craft beers are $USD6-7 per bottle. Friendly, if typically leisurely service. Has weekly specials for sushi and burgers.
Derek W — Google review
I absolutely love the decoration.. Sushi was nice for being Nicaragua, although a bit pricey
Hellen U — Google review
The best parts of this restaurant are the ambience and specials. They have 2 x 1 deals most nights, making an otherwise good dining experience even better. There are good drinks and good dinner options, ranging from sushi, tacos, to steak. I tried them all and I was pleased with it all. The service and dessert were okay.
Matt D — Google review
The food was great and the restaurant itself was beautiful to sit in but expect to pay a lot for in Nicaragua.
Cher D — Google review
Granted it was a Tuesday, which seems to be an off day in Granada as far as restaurants are concerned, the service and availability of the menu left much to be desired. Compared to the service from other establishments, this was the worst service we had on our stay. Three different people from the wait staff came to our table on my taking our drink order after which only after contemplating leaving when fifteen minutes had passed did the register attendant come after over hearing our dissatisfaction. Most of the menu was unavailable and I had to settle for an overpriced burger with a soggy bun. I'm sure that at some point the menu was presented well, however good ingredients with poor execution does not justify the price. This seems like a place for tourists that like Applebee's or Chilis. This does not warrant a visit form anyone looking for quality or culture. I would recommend finding anyone of the other fine establishments on the main street. At least there you'll get what you pay for.

PURE Gym and Spa is a standout choice for visitors to Granada. The space effortlessly balances serene ambiance with energizing vibes, encouraging guests to join invigorating workouts alongside fellow visitors. Post-exercise, unwind in the little lounge, perfect for taking in the vibe. The welcoming staff adds to the experience with their attentive service. Well-organized gym sessions cater to all levels, and the Yoga classes are a must-try highlight. Centrally located, it offers easy, safe access to Granada’s attractions—ideal for evening strolls to the heart of the city. A gem for fitness and relaxation!

Nice that this gym has lots of fresh air. Decent variety of machines, including cardio equipment. Some a little old/dirty, dumbell rack had lots of spiderwebs. Day pass was 25-75C more expensive than the other two gyms I looked at in Granada. Zumba class is best in Granada, so fun and totally worth it!

Today I had the best massage I've had in Nicaragua at Pure by Maria Isabella. It was professional focused and relaxing. The room had airconditioning as well so it was really refreshing. She really focused on the areas I told her hurt the most while still giving me a great all around massage. In the past I have had really uncomfortable massages by men and someone that came to my house that ruined my sheets with oil and massages that were just so fast and painful and not relaxing at all. Pure asked if I would prefer a man or woman and makes it clear that it is a professional environment I felt very safe and comfortable and in good hands. I can't recommend them enough! PLUS they have a giant tortoise in the garden! So cool!

I really love all the services here. So far Carmen is absolutely the best massage therapist I have ever had. She truly has healing hands. Elena gave me an excellent pedicure and waxed my eyebrows perfectly. The smoothies are delicious. Everyone here is so very kind. Visit here for sure!

Went to a Cross Training class with Victor one night - it was intense and not for someone looking for an easy workout but felt great after. Went to yoga the next morning which was excellent! Then sat down for breakfast which was delicious and well priced. I had a pedicure and 30 min massage which I was in heaven for. Such a cool place! Beautiful courtyard, relaxing atmosphere and the staff are SO friendly!! Highly recommend.

At the end of my trip, I Visited for a massage. To my surprise turned out to be one of the best 90 min. massages ever and I've had hundreds for sciatic nerve issues. The massage therapist, Carmen, has 40 years experience. Its a deep tissue and Swedish technique, but she finds and hits all the pressure points. Just an amazingly talented therapist. I scheduled 2 sessions. The massage rooms are very comfortable and clean. Highly recommended.

Nice Gym with quite a good selection of machines. Here you can get some real work out done. We loved the yoga classes and the staff was always friendly and helpful. We would not recommend waxing your body at this gym or if you do, ask about the price first . My wife was charged 63 USD for just 45 Minutes and the quality of the treatment wasn't good either.

Hostel
Nestled in the heart of Granada, Casa Gallo Pinto is a charming guest house that perfectly embodies the spirit of Nicaraguan culture. Just a short stroll from Xalteva Park, this inviting retreat features a lovely terrace, picnic area, and garden where guests can unwind. The name "Gallo Pinto," which translates to "painted rooster," pays homage to Nicaragua's beloved national dish—a delightful blend of rice and beans often enjoyed at any meal throughout the day.
One of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed in. The kitchen was incredibly well-organized and fully equipped—honestly, the best I’ve seen in any hostel. I loved the thoughtful details, like power outlets inside the lockers and mosquito repellent available for everyone. As the owner said: "We try to think about what we need in a hostel when we travel." And it really shows! They also offer a very affordable spa service, which was a great bonus. Loved everything about this place.
Asana D — Google review
Beautiful and tranquil hostel with more of a shared apartment vibe. Clean rooms, bathrooms and patio. Big rooms, comfy bed, equipped kitchen. If you need something there's someone to reach out to and you'll get helped quickly. Since it's next to the main street it's noisy in the morning but they inform that on the booking side, so all good. It's super close to the centre.
Kim L — Google review
After 15 months of travel I can say that it was the most clean, organized and well equipped kitchen we've seen. The rooms were spacious with a good fan. The bathrooms were great. The space in the middle is fresh and lovely. 100% recommend
FRANCK B — Google review
Glad I read the reviews before booking – "Best hostel I've ever stayed at" is 100% accurate. I stayed here based on the the price, free breakfast and fast internet speed. What I got was much more. The female dorm has 3 bunk beds with lots of room between beds so guests aren't disturbed. The top and bottom bunks have a ton of space in-between so you aren't disturbed by snoring or the other person moving. Like the kitchen, the rooms are impeccably organized. You get a large locker that fit my two big bags. I (a messy person and long-term traveller with lots of stuff) even was able to keep my things organized. On top of how good Gallo Pinto is, the owners have another spot – Casa Caracola. Because I'm remote working, they invited me to work from Caracola's coworking space. All I can say is, WOW!! I've never worked from a place so calming, with great (stable wifi), and an ergonomic desk chair!!!! Where you stay really makes a difference no matter where you go. I'm back in Granada in a week and know where I'll stay. Thanks so much for the BEST stay, Gallo Pinto team!
Stephanie J — Google review
the place should have a higher price tag. but they are just starting, so go get their discount and stay at the dorm for just 6$. the hostel is managed by a german guy and it shows: everything is clean and organized. if you can’t pee property, there’s even an instruction for you at the toilet:) super well equipped kitchen, in the room you get a big storage, key provided. the atmosphere is chill and pleasant. i never liked party hostels and gallo pinto is what i needed
Diana R — Google review
Perfect two week stay in Granada. The space is beautiful, the location central, and the guys who live there are helpful, welcoming, and fun. The kitchen is well-equipped, the shower pressure strong, and the bed in the room I stayed in was luxuriously large. I read reviews for many other places in the city that complained about stifling hot rooms. Not the case here. The room has great airflow thanks to the bamboo upper wall and open window, keeping it at a reasonable temperature. If you want to be surrounded by other foreigners, stay elsewhere, but if you want to experience a bit of local life, this is your place.
Kathryn S — Google review
A wonderful stay with Lorena's team - Liz and Jonathan, who treated me and the other guests like family! Gallo Pinto is such an appropriate name for what I have found to be typical Nicaraguan hospitality - warm, down to earth, and welcoming! Rooms are simple but clean! The hostel is well located, but not as busy and party-esque as some of the other hostels around Granada. A great choice for unfussy travellers!

Lorena and Benjamin are very lovely people. We stayed for a week and would have stayed longer. It is right in the city centre and markets, supermarkets churches, food places, the pier, everything is really close by. Check-in was easy, the connection was perfect, the patio was nice, the common spaces comfy and the hosts make you feel at home. They even offered really kind additional services and help they wouldn't have had to offer. I would totally go back any time. Thank you guys and all the best! :)

Restaurant
Nestled just a block away from the bustling Calle Calzada and near Central Park, Miss Dell's Kitchen, now known as Picholine, is a culinary gem that has captured the hearts of both locals and international travelers alike. The restaurant boasts a spacious interior adorned with local art, creating an inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements its laid-back vibe.
Picholine is absolutely lovely. It is French style cuisine with a focus on locally sourcing. I had the filet mignon that was sourced from a local beef farm, and my husband had the burger; both were phenomenal. We also shared the squid appetizer, which was flavorful with a lot of fresh herbs yet still light. They have a fantastic wine selection at very reasonable prices. We had a 1996 Rioja for $42 USD. The staff were very attentive, and we spent a good amount of talking with the chef after dinner, who is originally from the East Coast in the States. He was engaging and made us feel like we were having dinner in his home. Our total bill for the appetizer, two mains, and two bottles of wine was ~$150 USD. This was the best meal we had in our time in Nicaragua. I highly recommend.
Kaley K — Google review
*** Miss Dell's is now Picholine - same owners, same great food, new location *** We've lived in Granada for 4+ years and Bob and Kenia's Picholine (formerly Miss Dell's...same owners but new location) has the mantle of the top restaurant in town for a fine dining experience. The location is convenient, just a block off the busy Calle Calzada and near the Central Park. The space is beautifully decorated with local art but the interior courtyard is the highlight. Loads of plants, bushes, trees including flowering orchids. Tables are tucked in nooks so you've got a bit of privacy. The kitchen is visible from the courtyard so you can see real masters at work. The menu is as unique as you'll find in Granada, filled with choices running the gamut from salads (fresh greens and veggies from the owners' garden) to catch of the day seafood to beef, Australian lamb, and more. Beer, liquor, and fairly extensive wine selection. The owners take great care and pride in sourcing, preparing, and serving you a tremendous meal. The service provided by wait staff is very good - the menu and specials of the day are explained, drink orders are taken and delivered in a timely manner, and they check in on you at just the right time (not too often, nor too infrequently). Last night we joined friends for a night out, and between the four of us we enjoyed the following items from the menu: Bacon-wrapped meatloaf with roasted veggies and mashed potatoes (one of the specials this week), the Carnivore's Dilemma (just what it sounds like...can't make up your mind, get this for a sampling of several types of meat!), a calamari salad with fresh greens, grilled snook/robalo (seafood catch of the day), and grilled shrimp (largest we've ever seen, and sourced the same morning) with roasted veggies. We also had the blueberry pie with homemade vanilla ice cream for dessert. Picholine is at the high end for prices in Granada, but it is 100% worth the price and it is well below what you'd expect to pay for a similar meal in the USA. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

This place was unreal. As vegetarians who occasionally eat fish, this was easily the best and most special restaurant in Granada. The kitchen uses locally sourced and own grown produce, with fantastic results. The pasta and passion fruit cheesecake were absolutely delicious.

It's known for its excellent service, delicious food, and inviting atmosphere, making it a popular choice for locals and visitors alike seeking quality coffee in the heart of Granada.
Had a very good chorizo wrap and an Asian salad. The coffee was very good, nice atmosphere with a great view of the park.

I would give a 10 for the setting. But I give a 1 as a total because the quality of the drinks were absolutely far beneath standard. The "frozen Mocca drink was not even cold and the taste of a cheap cafe. The fruit smoothie was watery and not cold. Such a shame for this place

Fantastic location right by the Plaza Mayor on the other side of the Cathedral. The place is cozy and very nice. I had the "Ice Latte" and the "Torta de Elote". Both I can recommend, especially the ice latte as it gets warmer. The staff was nice and friendly. Keep in mind prices do not include VAT (15%) and Service (10%) which is very common in Nicaragua
