Louvre Michaelense, established in 1904, is a charming store and cafe located in the heart of Ponta Delgada. Initially offering fine hats and fabrics imported from France, it now showcases a delightful selection of Azorean products including teas, preserves, jams, and unique items like Avo Catitas twine bicycle baskets. The store also features an all-day cafe-restaurant-cocktail bar where visitors can enjoy local cuisine with a contemporary twist or indulge in house-made desserts.
Louvre in Ponta Delgada delivers truly exceptional food—we’ve been twice and returned specifically for the unforgettable seafood casserole. We also tried the cheeseboard, chili mayo fries, mackerel salad, and chocolate cake, all of which were fresh, crunchy, and full of flavor. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality and execution make it well worth it. Service can vary depending on the staff, and while the indoor space feels a bit dark and cramped, the outdoor seating is much more inviting. We’d highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates high-quality food and would gladly return ourselves.

I highly recommend this place! We just had the Seafood Casserole and the Tuna Tataki and we are in love!! Drinks are also very very good. The staff was very friendly, making jokes, even asked the chef what type of tuna we were having and fish in the casserole. Do not miss this while in Ponta Delgada! We were able to catch some spots at the bar immediately as we were a bit early for dinner but there was a line later.

INCREDIBLE MEAL(s) We only had two nights in the azores and we went to this place twice. Not a single bad dish. I can already tell that I will be dreaming about that braised beef risotto for years.
Elvira I — Google review
We had such a nice evening here. The staff is super friendly, Francisco welcomed us and took care of us the whole time. We had the seafood arancinis, chicken saltinbocca and red wine braised beef risotto and tarte tatin for desert. All dishes were great and super flavorful, you’ll really wish for an extra stomach! Cocktails were super nice as well. Big thanks to the team!

We went for brunch after arriving that morning to sao Miguel. This French cafe was recommended by our hotel - it was truly delightful. Adorable decor- charming patio. The food was delicious! The portions were generous as well. The chocolate cake was outstanding
Sally L — Google review
Absolutely delicious!! We came here twice during our 4-day stay in Sao Miguel and ordered the same thing: shrimp pasta & seafood casserole. The flavours are explosive, especially if you love lemon and coriander. Cocktails deserve a shout out too, best on the island.
Bianca T — Google review
Excellent food and service. It is highly recommended to book. We felt in love with the cauliflower salad 😂, but we would recommend to have it as a tapas to share 😁. Good list of wine.
Estelle T — Google review
Probably the best food we had on the island that's a bit more contemporary. Fish-rice stew was amazing. We did have to make a reservation in advance, almost half a week or so. Absoultelt recommend this place!

Mediterranean restaurant
Forneria São Dinis is a fantastic restaurant located in Ponta Delgada, near the airport's runway. The menu offers a fusion of Mediterranean and Portuguese cuisine using local ingredients, featuring an array of dishes including pizza from their impressive pizza oven, pasta, and seafood. This relatively new establishment boasts a laid-back atmosphere with friendly staff and stunning ocean views. Additionally, they offer excellent wood-fired pizzas and varied menu options.
A true hidden gem on the Azores! We visited with our family (two small children, ages 1 and 3) and were welcomed with incredibly friendly and attentive service. The staff is warm, helpful, and very family-friendly. All dishes are made in the wood-fired oven – and you can really taste the difference! Highly recommended: the local fish and meat, perfectly cooked with that signature wood oven flavor. For dessert, don’t miss the caramelized pineapple with ice cream – absolutely delicious! Great cocktails, fair prices, convenient parking, and a unique location with industrial charm and a stunning ocean view. We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommended!

Very good pizza, but pasta carbonara was not so good.- I think it's need to have more sause. Also at 8 pm on Sunday there was no more Tiramisu, it was strange. But grilled pineapple was very tasty. The food was prepared quite quickly, we didn't have to wait long.

Best pizza on the island! We had 8 ppl. Friendly staff. English menu is available.
Kayla G — Google review
The only good thing was when an actual wild weasel 🐱 entered the restaurant and it had lightend up the atmosphere and we had fun, that is why we give ⭐️⭐️, instead of only ⭐️! It was really bad experience, they have mixed-up our order twice, we were waiting for our food for 1h and when it arrived it was tasteless. Other guests around had the same experience.
Dusan A — Google review
Found this on my last night in Ponta Delgado - glad we went. We didn’t have a reservation, but they sat us at a quiet 2 seater in the corner. The server was very friendly and we were able to communicate well enough in English, they also have an English menu. Quiet place, right along the water, with a nice vibe. Food was decent, we got one pizza which was about 14” I’d say, normal personal size pizza. Good crust and topping options. Split a caprese salad, ordered pasta, soda, sparkling sangria, and two coffees. Came out to be around 45€ which was reasonable for the experience. I’d recommend this place and recommend that you make reservations, as it seems might be customary around the island.
B — Google review
Lovely staff. The pizza looked good although we ordered from main plates. The place is casual but demands exorbitant prices for a glass of wine and coffee. The same is true with main dishes and sides. We love the spirit of the staff and hope the owner thinks of the customers. We may be locals or tourists, but the prices are not justifiable. Hope they appreciate the customers and create sustainable prices.
Maggie S — Google review
This restaurant is a shame, and it’s a pity it has a good location and the ambience is quiet. The waitress need a bit more of training and I don’t think she really understands the language, but I don’t think is her fault. The worse are some dishes that they offer, really never, ever under any circumstances order the tomato soup, it’s literally a very cheap pizza tomato sauce, from the can, literally!!! I can’t understand how they can have the face to serve this. If you are too lazy to do a proper soup, just don’t have it in the menu.
I N — Google review
We didn’t have reservations but our party of 7 were seated within a few minutes. This was a Tuesday night in July. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. We ordered the Truffle & Fungi, Tropical, Margarita, Italian Flower, and Acorean pizza. All were fantastic! The pizza bread was light and delicious. Toppings were fresh and flavorful.

Wine bar
Reserva is a restaurant located in Ponta Delgada Center, behind the Tourist Office and the Bank of Portugal. The small "dead end" location offers plenty of privacy and an intimate setting for diners. The menu features Mediterranean cuisine with European influences, all made with fresh, local ingredients. Waitstaff are attentive and capable of handling table service or take-out orders. There is also a full bar serving wine and beer, as well as vegetarian and gluten free options.
Truly amazing wine tasting, just trust to pick the wine for you. Food was local and amazing as well. We liked everything and the price was great for this value. HIGHLY recommend
Andrea — Google review
Highly recommend this hidden gem. Not so obvious to find but amazing food and huge selection of wine. Big portioned, high quality tapas which were delicious. Huge wine selection. The owner knows a lot about all the different Portuguese wine and is pleasant to talk to.
Tanja — Google review
Great find. Excellent tapas and wine bar featuring a variety of local cheeses, cold cuts, sausages, etc. and Portuguese wines and ports. They focus on many wines are hard to find or older vintages than what are currently available in stores. For food tried the mixed cheese, cold cut and sausage plate, some tinned tuna belly and octopus (wow! delicious) and bread. Had one white, one rosé, one red and a port by the glass based on the waiter/owners recommendations and all were excellent. Strongly recommend if you like tapas and trying premium wines. The owner was very knowledgeable and passionate.
Michael Q — Google review
Exceptional experience at this perfect little wine bar. The owner was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the wine selection. The food was simple but excellent and the portions were generous. The mushrooms were phenomenal! There were really good vegan options. Everything tasted delicious, and the atmosphere was just perfect for an intimate evening out. What a gem this place is!
Thuyen N — Google review
We had the pleasure of dining here and as vegetarians, have had a tough time finding a restaurant in Sao Miguel with a variety of foods for us to enjoy. We had a salad, cheese plate, buns, potatoes, and dessert here! If you have any questions about wine, the owner had some lovely recommendations for us. We explained what flavors we liked and he recommended some wines for us to try! You can truly see his passion for his food, wine, and country shine through. Some neighboring local restaurants had a lot more reviews, but I would skip all of them (we tried a few and were extremely underwhelmed) and come here instead!
Ami M — Google review
Excellent food and wine. The waiter was very helpful, happy to advise and explain everything. We will definitely be back.
Anna — Google review
Very good wine bar with selections of meat and cheeses, mostly produced locally or within Portugal. Amazing wine selection. The blood sausage was fantastic. The waiter was very knowledgeable and offered wine pairings based on how much you want to pay per glass. Tried several different Portuguese red wines, each better than the last. Great place to eat if you are in the mood for some great wine and delicious food.

Õtaka is a Japanese, Asian, Contemporary and Fusion restaurant located in Ponta Delgada. The food is beautifully presented and the taste is exquisite - it's one to watch in the years to come, surely.
We had a wonderful experience dining here. We chose the discovery menu, which was thoughtfully curated and beautifully executed. The service was excellent—attentive without being intrusive—and the presence of a sommelier. Everything was well-paced, and the food was outstanding. Given the quality, the pricing feels very reasonable. I highly recommend making a reservation, as seating is limited. You can book for either 6:30 PM or 9:30 PM.
Nathalie T — Google review
Hard to find the words to describe the experience but I will try. A truly unforgettable meal at Õtaka. We had the chef’s Experience menu with wine pairings—each course was stunning, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. The service was impeccable, and a special thank you to Paolo, the sommelier, whose pairings and passion elevated the entire evening. A truly elegant and memorable dining experience. We were even greeted & asked for our opinion by the owner and head chef José which shows how much love goes into each plate. You cannot leave the Azores without a dinner from Õtaka.
Chris T — Google review
We enjoyed a Saturday evening at Õtaka and it was a pleasure. The food was very tasty throughout, especially I would point if the beef and the dessert. The staff has been very friendly and attentive and we really enjoyed our experience. Reservation is almost a must.
Frederik S — Google review
Treated myself to the Discovery 8-course menu one night during my trip to Ponta Delgada. They only have two seatings and because I was on tour during the day, I got the 930pm (should make reservations). The atmosphere was very chic and design very minimalistic with open kitchen. There was outdoor seating as well. The 1st course was pieces of cornbread and salted butter with Azorean seaweed. The butter itself could be a course. For the snacks, there was a piece of sashimi (can’t remember which fish) and a fried rice roll with spicy tuna. The 3rd dish was my fave - Azorean amberjack sashimi in a watermelon cucumber emulsion. Such a refreshing combination and I drank the watermelon juice after. The 4th was 3-pieces of cured mackerel with finger lime, which was my first time trying. A bit sour but complimented the fish well. Next was the Azorean beef tataki (which is on their á la carte menu). The meat just melts in your mouth. Then the shrimp tempura, which was probably my least fave. It tasted great but wasn’t too special compared to other courses. Too much spicy mayo/yuzu sauce and batter, and alot of slightly dress greens. This is on their á la carte menu as well. For the main, I chose Azorean beef fillet that came with a sauce that tasted like BBQ, and some pepper leaves salad (really tasty). For dessert was a beautiful cheesecake and passion fruit sorbet. Service was exceptional - all were super attentive and described each dish. I saw them going to each table (inside and out) and engaging with everyone. Recommend this place - mix of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine with Azorean ingredients.
H C — Google review
This was such a nice experience. Otaka should put Sao Miguel on the map for Michelin. Each dish was incredible. And oh wow, the sommelier is also very talented. Each dish was perfectly matched with an unbelievable wine. Truly one of the best meals I've had.
Allison J — Google review
I have been going to this place once or twice a year since it opened and my review here is from my most recent (and sadly quite disappointing) experience. My husband and I ordered a la carte and I ordered the famous Wagyu beef I'd heard so much about. Priced at 85 euros (my husband's entree was a fish dish priced at 26 euros for comparison). The beef was exceptional and perfectly cooked. However for this price the sides were non-existent, just a few wilted leaves of spinach and a BBQ sauce that lacked acidity to match the buttery quality of the beef. I hope that the incredible team at Otaka will consider this review in improving the menu and I hope to be inspired to be back. There are some things that aren't worth the hype and this is turning out to be one of them.
Rimi C — Google review
Food was absolutely delicious, we had an amazing wine and did the full experience menu. We had a great night! Some feedback would be that we were 5 min early with our 6.30pm reservation and instead of welcoming us we were told to wait outside for another 5, didn’t feel very welcoming. Also the timeframe with the reservation (there are two shifts) with a 8 or 10 course menu is a bit short. For the money paid and the amount of courses it feels rushed and there wasn’t even coffee offered at the end as we were not fast enough.
Rens R — Google review
A great tasting menu in Ponta Delgada. My wife is vegetarian and they had a version for her which was delicious.

Cais da Sardinha is a charming lounge restaurant situated on the old port, offering a splendid view of the island's coast and the sea. The menu mainly features fish dishes, with some meat options available as well. Locally known as Tasca do Mane Cigano, it is renowned for its regional cuisine, including stewed meat, grilled limpets, and flour-fried blue mackerel served with a bean stew.
The food was delicious and the service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant and comfortable. However, the noise coming from the kitchen was quite loud at times, which made it a bit challenging to concentrate on our conversation. Overall, a great dining experience that could be even better with a quieter environment.
Haya D — Google review
Beautiful location right by the ocean, near the commercial docks. There’s both a restaurant and a bar, but the best view is definitely from the restaurant terrace or from inside the restaurant itself. The bar/terrace is set further back near the dock area, and the view from there overlooks a few commercial boats. We visited around 5 PM and were lucky to find a table on the restaurant terrace. A reservation is definitely recommended if you plan to dine at the restaurant, but overall, it’s a lovely spot for a meal with a view. The bar offers some unique and interesting cocktails—different from what we found elsewhere on the island—and the bartender really puts effort into preparing them well. It’s a quiet location with shaded areas, and if you’re sitting on the restaurant terrace, you get a nice view of the harbor. We even caught a rainbow while we were there, which made the experience even more special.
Oana — Google review
Loved our dinner at Cais da Sardinha. We were there during a big local festival so it was super busy, but the staff were still great. The limpets were amazing, and we really enjoyed the mushroom risotto and Caprese salad. Great wine too. Awesome spot right by the water, definitely worth a visit!
Adam G — Google review
The most important thing to consider first: it's extremely loud, like really exhausting at the end of an active day which is why I wouldn't go there again and I'm normally not that sensitive to noise. I had the octopus - it was OK, the octopus itself tasted good, but the whole dish lacked taste and was boring. My friends had the sardines, they were much better, though.
Konradin — Google review
Very delicious, the best fish and seafood we’ve had in Ponta delgada yet. Fair prices, authentic and great quality. Definite recommendation and can’t wait to come back for our next meal!
Maria P — Google review
Beautiful location, right on the ocean with floor to ceiling windows everywhere. Warm lighting. Very fresh and delicious food. Attentive waiters, dealing with a lot of demand - as food is great. Great night ! 🌟✨⭐
Alina W — Google review
Extremely mid, welcome to a restaurant with boring food and lackluster service. Was served an overpriced steak that was ordered medium rare but was instead slammed to gray. Reordered and got instead a steak that could walk off the plate. If you’re going to order, opt for the fish. Never mind, don’t come here. Go somewhere else.
Vincent O — Google review
Cais de Sardihna is in a good setting overlooking the harbour but the food was disappointing. One of our dishes , Bacalhau Lascado, was cold - which is quite impressive as it takes a really long time for potatoes to go cold! In fairness it was quickly replaced - but without apology. My risotto was ok. The acoustics are terrible and so it is very noisy if there are groups dining, which was the case when we visited. The staff were friendly, but service was slow as they were busy, but as a customer, this shouldn't become my problem....

Ta Gente is a trendy spot on the island, perfect for enjoying drinks, tapas-based dinners, or after-dinner cocktails. Despite being crowded, with a bit of patience, you can secure a table. The menu offers a variety of local and international tapas as well as delightful desserts. This upscale bar also boasts ample outdoor seating and an inviting ambiance. Guests can savor specialty cocktails while watching skilled bartenders craft custom drinks. Visitors praise the warm staff and recommend trying the local wines.
Best meal we had in Sao Miguel. Great food and very reasonably priced. Glued for money. It is indeed a popular restaurant so expected crowds but you can wait at the waiting table area and order some drinks.
Kornjan T — Google review
The place looks very nice and the cocktails are great. However, I cannot recommend this restaurant to get something to eat. The size of the dishes is much too small compared to the price and the taste is below average. The waiters were polite, but not able to give information on the menu.
Marcel D — Google review
We were looking for a table for dinner around 7.15-30, and spotted one here. A miracle as we could sit immediately. You might have to wait, but get a cocktail or local beer from the bar and be patient, it is worth it. The dishes are not large, but really delicious, we had the local cheese and sausage platter, chorizo, sausage, black pudding (blood sausage), two Sao Miguel and one Faial cheeses, honey, pineapple jam and plenty of good bread. A Greek salad and a local pepper hummus. All very well balanced. Finished off with caramelised pineapple and ice-cream. So good. There's a huge turnover of covers managed by a courteous front of house team, who kept track of the innumerable orders and did not seem to keep anyone waiting too long. Most dietary requirements it seems can be catered for, though vegans might have a tough time. There are a lot of people walking around and through the outside dining area, and also waiting for a table. Don't rush but also don't hang around too long either. Enjoy the flavours.

We came here twice during our stay in Ponta Delgada - once for cocktails, and once for tapas. We sat inside for drinks and they have a cozy area by the bar with couches and armchairs. The cocktails were delish! We had the peach Paloma and the blueberry bourbon mule. When we went back for tapas we sat outside, which was great as well. We shared the cheese board. Maybe not super great value for the money there but it was yummy. Service was terrific both days! I’d definitely recommend coming for drinks and small plates!

Very good food, drinks and ambience. A bar, restaurant for plenty of occasions. Just for drinks with friends or a nice dinner with loved ones.

We came twice during our stay in Ponta Delgada. Service was welcoming and efficient. Drinks great and food came in fast and was super tasty. It is bar a tapas, so don't expect large meals. But what we got was enough for decent dinner.
Jitka P — Google review
We wandered into this place when we weren't sure what to get for dinner and it exceeded expectations. Service was quick, bar was delicious, the vibes both inside and outside were great. Three tapas was plenty of food for the both of us. Not the cheapest place on the island but everything was good so we were definitely fine with the price. Would recommend for drinks and a lighter meal!

The bar Tá Gente has a very inviting atmosphere, perfect for a chat and a drink with friends. I tried a warm Drambuie, served in a beautifully crafted setup with herbal tea and a twist of orange—an original and cosy choice for a cold evening. The ambiance is relaxed and charming, making it a great spot to unwind. While the overall experience was pleasant, there’s some room for improvement in service warmth. I definitely recommend visiting, enjoying the creative drinks, and soaking in the warm vibe of Tá Gente!

Cantinho dos Anjos, located on Rua Hintze Riberiro, is a beloved and historic bar in Santa Maria. This local gem offers a nice atmosphere and affordable drinks, making it a popular spot for both locals and visitors. With its rich history and sentimental value to the community, Cantinho dos Anjos holds numerous memories from travelers and locals alike.
Absolutely loved this spot! Cantinho dos Anjos is the perfect place for a chill evening in Ponta Delgada. The cocktails are amazing — expertly made, creative, and surprisingly affordable for their quality. Prices are very fair across the board, making it easy to enjoy yourself without overthinking your wallet. The atmosphere is vibrant yet relaxed, with a mix of locals and travelers creating a welcoming vibe. The music is perfectly balanced — just loud enough to add energy, but soft enough to enjoy good conversation. The staff were super friendly and made us feel at home right away. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a cozy, stylish bar with great drinks, friendly people, and a memorable ambiance.

Amazing pub!! I enjoyed this time over there having my drinks. Very friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, lots of pictures of ships and Azores, and the most famous whales bone on the main whole of the pub. My recommendation!

We spent a few nights in here soaking up the beer/wine and atmosphere. Met some great people from all over the planet and had a great time. Closest thing to a pub we found while we were there.

We (Shamrock Rovers) met there prior to our football match, staff were overwhelmed by the amount of fans & drink consumed. On the 2nd of 3 days they ran out of draught Super Bock on draught, large bottles and small bottles and Somersby Cider !!! Great staff, great atmosphere, great prices and fun.

The best funky bar in PD to my opinion. Not in a fancy location perhaps, but with many vibes inside. Some tables also scarcely available outside. Good cocktails and some local beers on the tap, including a sweet Stout. They should induce more bitters and IPA’s, left alone the Belgian superior artefacts.

Cantinho dos Anjos offers a cozy and welcoming atmosphere in Ponta Delgada. The staff is friendly, and the menu features delicious Portuguese dishes and great drinks. Perfect spot for a relaxed meal or casual hangout

Good beer. Multiple screens with Sport. Free WLAN. Enough said. Full score in my eyes. NOTICE: they don't serve food except bar food like peanuts etc. Just an observation.

I haven't had their food. But their drinks are great and the prices are right! Not a lot of good margaritas around, but they make a passable margarita even. Personally though I drink where the locals drinks. This is not really a tourist bar. But they'll serve tourists as well. It's a sailor themed establishment.

Arco 8 is a multifaceted space located in Santa Clara, offering an art gallery, restaurant, and bar all in one. The art gallery Workshop showcases contemporary pieces by local and national artists, including drawings, prints, photographs, and posters. After being revamped by Chef Ricardo from the renowned Boca da Cena restaurant, Arco 8 now serves excellent food paired with fitting wines. The ambiance is top-notch and the service is exceptional.
The gallery to the left of the restaurant has been reopened this weekend. They have unique cocktails, regional art and live music. Highly recommend.

Very nice place and the waiters were extremely professional and friendly. The food was good but not worth the price they are charging and also the lights were a bit bright. We had excellent wine here that was priced decently. We told the waiter that we were sharing our mains and they divided them in the kitchen and gave us separate half plates, which we really appreciated! However, even with two mains we left hungry and had to get a snack out.

I rarely leave reviews but this place needs to be put out there! Our family had an absolutely amazing experience. Chef Ricardo claimed to have the “best octopus in the world” (as a joke of course), but honestly, he was right. The crispy octopus is truly one of the best I’ve had — grilled to perfection. The place got revamped, and is under new ownership with normal restaurant hours, so call ahead to get seated. Ricardo was truly warm and so was our waiter andres. Both made us feel like family within the couple hours we spent there. They gave us great activity recs too, as delightful as their chocolate mousse with a zingy creative fun pepper twist you gotta try it! My daughter’s favorite was the beef tartar; it was very fresh and balanced so well. We are actually on our way back tonight and are trying to explore more of their menu, but we might just stick to what we got yesterday because it will be hard to beat!

An authentic dining spot with a cool, artistic vibe! The space features paintings by local artists, charred wooden beams, and thoughtfully crafted design details. The food was exceptional—the scallops and medallion steak were outstanding. The chef was fantastic, and the wine selection was top-notch.

Best steak I've ever had. Fantastic food, compliments to the chef and the staff. Will miss you and hope to return in the future.

Outstanding. We found this place randomly while walking. The exterior looked a bit sketchy but we figured we’d peek inside. We are extremely glad we did! This is a beautiful converted old barn that integrates local art and a truly fantastic restaurant. The servers were professional and friendly. In fact, they really added to our overall experience! The food was amazing and the atmosphere was relaxed with a sophisticated feel. The prices were very reasonable. Overall, pretty much perfect!

Wow wow wow. Best octopus I have ever had. My friend had the porc fish and it was delicious and the filet mignon as well. Chef Ricardo has created a masterpiece and you can taste the love he puts in the food. The best dish I had so far (octopus) in Sao Miguel. Definitely recommend and reserve.

Seven of us dined here on a Thursday evening. We were all delighted with the food and the extremely friendly staff. I can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant!
