Hostel
Stone City Hostel is a top-rated accommodation located in the historic old town of Gjirokastra. The hostel boasts impeccable design and professional management, making it a favorite among travelers. Guests praise the welcoming and helpful owners, as well as the included breakfast. The hostel offers great facilities, clean rooms, and an inviting outdoor area. Visitors appreciate the friendly staff who provide valuable recommendations for exploring the town and dining options.
One of the best hostels we have stayed at in Albania. The owner Walter and the volunteers are amazing, they could not be more helpful and kind. The location couldn’t be more perfect for the old town, and the free breakfast was delicious - they even made cake for everyone! Perfect for groups or solo travellers, everyone is very social!

One of the nicest hostels I have ever stayed in!!! Cannot recommend enough. Bit more expensive than some of the other hostels in the area but 100% worth it. So clean, spacious and very comfy beds. Hostel felt very safe and is located close to all the nearby attractions and a short walk to the bus stop. Each bed has light, charging point and a large lockers. Rooms have AC. Towels also included. The breakfast included in the stay was sooo good - fresh bread, fruits, eggs, cake and tomatoes/cucumbers. Also tea and coffee. Very generous!! The owner (Walter) also gives a walking tour - would highly recommend joining if you can. It was so great, took us to more local places and gave a fantastic and digestible explanation of the history of Gjirokaster. Also a nice way to meet people. They also hosted a quiz night, which was lots of fun! Definitely recommend staying at Stone City, and most definitely would stay again!!

One of the best hostels I've ever been to! Turned an interesting visit to Gjirokaster into an absolute highlight of our whole trip! Generous and passionate owner who cares deeply about sustainable tourism in Albania and is always finding ways to give back to the local area while showing visitors a great time. Rooms have views that rival many other viewings points in the city. It was actually hard to leave the rooms to explore instead of just basking in it! It honours and echoes many aesthetic aspects of Gjirokaster. Probably the best designed hostel I have ever seen?? Wonderful breakfast too. Don't miss grandma's dinner or any excursions to the nearby national park. We will cherish the memories! They also organized walking tours and other social events There are amazing restaurants and bars super nearby that open late into the night too. The hostel have a useful list of recommendations.
Hui A — Google review
Stone City Hostel lived up to and exceeded the hype. Easily my favorite hostel that I've stayed at anywhere. The accommodation was great. I spent nights in both the dorms and a private room, and would have been glad to spend more in either. Travelling solo the hostel has daily events that make it super easy to meet fellow travelers. The workers and volunteers are all such great people. Walter who operates the hostel must have had an answer or tip for the far too many questions I had about the area, and is an all around great guy. They packed a takeaway breakfast for an early expedition to Çajup and Lalucit (a remarkable hike across the valley that I strongly recommend), and the sit down breakfast in the morning was great. Couldn't have had a better experience and hope to return one day. Walter if you're hiring and need someone who can use excel, and talk to mountain shepherds please let me know.
Brad G — Google review
Amazing hostel with very knowledgeable hosts that can tell you a lot about the city! The guided tour is perfect to get to know it. Although we were pretty spontaneous in booking and also arrived in the middle of the night, they were so kind to help us and send all necessary information on short notice :) The hostel is very clean, has a welcoming and social interior + veranda, good beds, and delicious breakfast. Thank you!
Lydia M — Google review
The most homely hostel with the best vibes!!! The rooms and bathrooms are super well kept, comfortable and clean. The best social but not drinking focussed hostel, gives school camp vibes in the BEST WAY POSSIBLE!!! So sad to be leaving this place and the family is so sweet as well. Could not recommend it enough!!! 💗💗💗

Restaurant
Restaurant Tradicional Odaja is a charming 1st-floor eatery that has been serving authentic Albanian mountain cuisine since 1937. It's known for its generous portions and home-cooked dishes, making it a great choice for families visiting Gjirokaster. The restaurant is popular among tourists seeking traditional Albanian flavors and a cozy dining atmosphere. With its long-standing history and commitment to quality, Odaja offers an inviting experience for those looking to savor the local culinary heritage in Albania.
Quaint restaurant with excellent local food. Situated on the first floor of a historic stone house, the interior has a rustic charm. There's a small balcony—with two tables for two people each—facing a lively street. The menu doesn't offer any surprises, but the quality is higher than in other restaurants in Gjirokastër. We ordered four dishes, plus dessert—plenty for two persons. Everything was delicious, above all the "qifqi" (rice balls with mint taste) and the meat balls with yogurt. Service is friendly and fast.
M H — Google review
A delicious dinner in Gjirokaster!! Great service, reasonably priced, food came out so fast and yum traditional dishes. We got a variety of stuff to share between four people, was approx 10€ each - we left stuffed. We got the village salad, baked cheese with honey, rice balls, stuffed eggplants, meatballs with tzatziki, and the pasticcio. We also were kindly given a Oshaf (custard with figs) to try as dessert. Recommend this place for quality Albanian food.
Nikki A — Google review
Loved our dinner here. Great food and friendly owners. The place had a very local feel for a place in the heart of the touristy bazaar. I had the lamb liver which was delicious. It was nice to have something different after having tried all the traditional dishes that are on every menu.

A Hidden Gem in Gjirokastër – Our Best Meal in Albania! We stumbled upon this amazing little restaurant in Gjirokastër and, honestly, it exceeded every single expectation we had. After twelve days of traveling through Albania and trying all sorts of local cuisine, we can confidently say: this was our best meal of the trip. We ordered the meatballs with sauce, the stuffed peppers, the chicken tagiani, and the moussaka. The moussaka and the chicken were incredibly flavorful, but the stuffing in the peppers? Absolutely amazing. That said, the true winner of the meal was definitely the meatballs – rich, comforting, and packed with flavor. We’ve had traditional Albanian food before, but this took it to a whole new level. And it’s not just the food. The service was exceptional. We came in with our 9-month-old baby, and the staff immediately offered us a separate little room with air conditioning so the baby could rest comfortably. No baby chairs available, but they let us use the sofa, and the baby is now peacefully napping while we finish our meal. They were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and genuinely warm – always checking in if we needed anything, but never intrusive. The interior is charming and traditionally styled, which only added to the whole experience. And the prices? Very fair – great value for money. So, if you’re planning to visit southern Albania and driving toward Tirana, make sure to pass through Gjirokastër, even just to stop here. The town itself is beautiful, and this restaurant is 100% worth the detour. If you skip it, you’re seriously missing out. For all of this food, 2 large beers and 2 cokes: 3750 LEK. Highly, highly recommended.
Jennifer — Google review
I live in Albania and yet I think I had the best traditional food so far in Odaja. The prices were very reasonable and the staff were welcoming. I really recommend you to try baked cheese with honey and sesame and homemade meatballs with yogurt.
Lion T — Google review
Absolutely loved this place. An actual gem in the new bazaar of Gjirokastra. I was recommended this place by my parents who visited last year and said they ate here twice because they loved it so much. And it absolutely did not disappoint. The service was so friendly and quick, we ordered a number of local Albanian dishes and loved them all. We were lucky enough to snag a seat on the balcony overlooking the busy bazaar which added to the atmosphere. The restaurant appears a little hidden but is well worth a visit if you are looking for an authentic and hearty meal in the hustle and bustle of the bazaar.
Mairead H — Google review
This place is awesome. We ordered rice cake, chicken soups and meatball. To finish off we ordered the cake of the day and that's the best cake we ever had. The service was quite fast and very kind
Anik B — Google review
Saw this place on Google Maps and it looked like it had nice traditional Albanian food. We went in February 2025 so the menu was the seaonal menu but it still ahd some nice things to eat. We ordered the Chicken Soup (Supe Pule), Rice Balls (Qifqi), Korca Beer and Grape Brandy. We also went at 2 pm, a smaller restaurant but it had a few people dining at the time. Also the owner is super super nice. We paid and he didn't have enough change so he paid us too much money so we could get our change. I thought this was amazing character so I gave him a nice tip! I really recommend this restaurant and really nice people as well.

Taverna Kuka is a popular restaurant located near Gjirokastra's old mosque, offering a delightful outdoor terrace dining experience. The menu features a variety of delicious Albanian dishes, including iconic items like fried meatballs. With its wonderful location and authentic cuisine, Taverna Kuka provides an excellent dining option for visitors exploring the Gjirokaster County.
First time trying traditional albanian food here and we enjoyed it. The meat balls and oven lamb are highly recommended; so juicy and tender. I personally do not like the rice balls but worth trying if you haven’t had it before. The view from the terrace is amazing. Highly recommend to those who would like to try albanian food.
Khine W — Google review
Food are mediocre! Waiters are not attentive and kept smoking and forget our dishes ! Service is slow and we have to wait so long for the dishes! Lots of flies and mosquitoes are at table! In short , it is not pleasant to have dinner here!
Aaron K — Google review
Excellent food, great service and a beautiful view! We were attempting to drive uphill and unfortunately were having some difficulty. The manager, Visar, happened to be in front of Taverna and kindly offered his help ( which we needed)! Once he helped us park safely we decided to give Taverna Kuka a shot. So glad we did! Everything was delicious! The traditional mixed grill was one of the best dishes we've enjoyed in Albania! Thank you to the staff and especially Visar!
M G — Google review
Good food for good price. I had to wait a little bit to much for the food as a lot of people entered at the same time, but i complaint and the manager managed it the right way. Apart from that, the food is good quality and tasty, the portions are good. We personally ate chicken with mashroom sauce (i recommend it) and my father ate chicken with potatoes, nothing crazy but it was good. We tried two desserts, one with figs and another one that it is kind of “ tres leches “ that i personally really liked.
Bautii G — Google review
The restaurant itself is very nice and has a great view, but the waiters are not particularly quick and only occasionally attentive. We had a kuka salad, which was nice but the dressing is JUST honey so it was too sweet overall. The spinach casserole was much too salty. But on the other hand, the grilled vegetables, the village salad and the backed potatoes were tasty! ✨
Indie S — Google review
Beautiful terrace with ice cold beer and water. We got the taster platter which said it was for 2, but we split between 3 and had a ton leftover.
Liz H — Google review
The musaka and 4 cheese pasta were sublime. Great atmosphere, and very hospitable service. 10/10 would come again.
Lucas — Google review
They charge you extra if you pay in euros. I asked before I ordered if it was possible to pay with euros and they told me it was fine. I had pork pancetta with roasted potates, which were very dry by the way, and was supposed to pay 800Lek. I ended up paying 9€, which is around 870lek. When I asked about it they told me it was because of the exchange. They should warn people about it before they order.

Absolutely fantastic experience! This restaurant offers traditional Albanian cuisine at its best. From the moment we arrived, we felt more like guests than customers — the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The staff was outstanding: incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about sharing their culture and food. Thanks to their guidance, we were able to try a wide variety of dishes. The moussaka and eggplant dishes were the best I’ve ever had in my life — full of rich flavors and perfectly prepared. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to truly experience the heart of Albanian cooking. Don’t miss the chance to try these unforgettable dishes!

A restaurant worth recommending! We ended up there when visiting Gjirokastre, in a big heat! The lady owner treated us to water, gave us water for the road, and candy for the children. Food very simple, homemade, tasty (stuffed cabbage in grape leaves, moussaka, Greek salad). At the end we were still treated to homemade cake, which was still warm! A pleasant atmosphere and very nice waiters! A big salute to the whole team!

We had a spectacular dinner! The hosts were fantastic, offering great recommendations and making us feel right at home. The setting was very charming, rustic, and cosy. The food was absolutely amazing, full of authentic flavours. The genuine warmth of the people was evident throughout the evening, always friendly and attentive. It was an experience I highly recommend!

Good dinner - this place does have a lot of reviews so had big expectations, but wasn’t blown away. We got the stuffed peppers and eggplant (600 Lek), the homemade special salad (500 Lek) and the mousakka (700 Lek) - stuffed eggplant was our favourite. Friendly service, they did give us cake after forgetting our mousaka. Reasonably priced too.
Nikki A — Google review
We ordered a few traditional dishes here and it was all made to be vegetarian on request. The host and his team were all very warm, very welcoming, top notch hospitality. We were served a very nice red colored fruity sweet drink as a welcome drink. This drink was very refreshing esp when we mixed it to sparkling water. The main dishes were all also good. The grilled vegetables were the best among them. We were also served a few pieces of sponge cake as dessert, free of charge. The seating is also okay, somewhat rustic and informal in the yard in front of the restaurant. But cannot complain. Highly recommend!
Teja J — Google review
Found via Happy Cow, Google. Reviews have been overwhelming positive, so we tried it out. We were not disappointed! It was rainy, so we sat inside. Our host was very friendly, and helped explain the menu, vegan options. Food came quickly, and was fantastic! I think that this restaurant has the whole package: great food, nice location, friendly staff, reasonable prices, beer/wine, small but clean toilet.
Dave P — Google review
Great home cooked Albanian food. Might be little crazy if gets busy. Seems to be run by a family. Traditional pie and meat balls were quite tasty. Stuffed peppers didn’t strike too amazing (rice in a pepper). Same time overall experience is nice and lovely. House wine is quite simple, would rather recommend a beer in this restaurant ;)
Timo I — Google review
If you want a true taste of Gjirokastër, this is the place to lock in. We ordered the qifqi, meatballs, stuffed eggplant, stuffed peppers, and the chicken tignia. Everything was fresh, well seasoned, and felt like home cooking with real pride behind it. The chicken tignia was the MVP. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. He took the time to share a bit about the dishes and even offered us a traditional Albanian clove wine and sugar drink, which was a classy touch and made the experience feel personal. Service was attentive, the atmosphere had that warm traditional charm, and the value for the quality is strong. Add this to your must-visit list in Gjirokastër.

Kujtim Restaurant is a popular dining spot in Gjirokaster, known for its fresh and authentic local food. It is a family-run business with friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant offers a combination of local dishes that are particularly fresh and generous, including a bonus sweet piece. Their lamb grill is highly recommended, served with herby hand-cut fried potatoes. Visitors also enjoy the opportunity for people-watching in the charming location within one of the streets of Gjirokastra bazaar.
This place was authentic and very pleasant. It didn’t feel like they begged you to eat at their place and the owners don’t even speak English so to me it didn’t feel like a tourist trap either! The food itself was very delicious, we took a mix of all the traditional food they had + musaka me mish and it was all very tasty, my personal favourite was the Musaka. If you are ever in Gjirokastër and want the local experience, I highly recommend this lovely place!

Small family owned and operated restaurant on the side of the main road. It has a nice outdoor patio that is quiet because it's away from the main road. The food is traditional Albanian. It's was very good with quick and polite service. We had a lovely lunch, it was quiet and in the shade.

The best food you can get! Freshly made, good portions, good prices, and absolutely delicious. We had mussels and lamb, raki, wine and oshaf and everything was just perfect, tasty and with the right consistency. And with a lovely view and great service 😃

We were staying at Kerculla and decided to have dinner in the old bizza. We chose this restaurant as it looked authentic and had okay reviews. We ordered the mixed mezze and Greek salad, and unfortunately it was a terrible experience. Shortly after eating, we both became extremely sick and were up all night with food poisoning symptoms, including severe diarrhoea. This was very disappointing and concerning, as food safety should be a top priority. This has since spoiled our holiday as we have in ben for 48 hours and have both lost appetite.

We absolutely loved this place. We have tried meat musaka, mix for one person, spagetti with meat, salad and kebab. We ate everything, the meal was delicious and the lady serving us was wonderful. Price - we paid 40 eur including drinks. (4people). And plus there was a great view of castle, as we sat inside by the window. Loved it. Thank you Kujtimi family.

We stumbled upon this lovely family-run restaurant just a short walk from the old city, and it turned out to be one of the warmest stops on our trip. The atmosphere radiates genuine hospitality—you can truly feel the heart of the place. We took a break for lunch and tried a mixed plate of local specialties. We have mixed feelings about the food in this place. The meat I picked was too greasy, however, mushroom pasta was cooked much better. The location is good and you can enjoy the atmosphere of a city. Waiters are fine but a bit chilly with the orders, we waiter there around 25 minutes even without a lot of people sitting in.
Maksym M — Google review
The weather turned changeable today. After coming back from the Ali Pasha Bridge, it started raining. There were lots of people in the restaurants, so we had to find somewhere to hide — and we ended up here. The prices were fine and the food was okay, just average. The chopped pork in the pan with vegetables and sauce was a bit too fatty, and the pumpkin soup was fine. Unfortunately, there was nothing that would make me come back here or recommend this place to anyone. With so much competition around, they really don’t stand out.

A cute little place next to the castle. We were greeted by a cute little tortoise. The hosts were very hospitable and polite. This place was quite lovely in the evening with the breeze after a long day in the sun traveling around Albania. The food was quite good and for a pair of vegetarians it went quite well ordering. Immaculate the food was incredible. The portions are incredible. Everything is really well cooked. Everything is so affordable. I love the view. I love the servers. I love the decor and I love the music they were playing, and I love everyone’s vibe at the restaurant.

Amazing service by the staff! We were very hungry after a full day of exploring the city, and rather than saying they don't have the requested dishes, they simply brought in supplies then and there and came up with a very good pasta, on top of some great traditional food. We were also given hot tea without even asking for it, which was a godsend. Albanian hospitality at it's finest!

We came for dinner and got a table for two on the terrace overlooking the castle. I’ve known the family for many, many years, & the service was fast and friendly; we shared the pork chops, stuffed eggplant, French fries with thick yogurt for dipping. We had the white wine and raki. It was a great night.

We visited based on good reviews and the shared plate of traditional dishes. The tasting plate felt a bit underwhelming — several items taste a bit dry. I’ve tried some of these dishes individually elsewhere, and they were more flavorful. We also ordered the chicken kebab based on a photo from a review two years ago, but the dish we received looked quite different. The chicken was also a bit dry and salty. The food was okay but not particularly impressive. That said, if you appreciate homemade, village-style cooking, you might enjoy it more. The hospitality, however, was lovely. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming, and they offered us complimentary water and dessert, which we really appreciated.

The food here serve fresh, amazing traditional Albanian food. The portions are generous in size, you definitely get your money’s worth! The meatballs and traditional mix especially stood out to me. The service, especially the owner himself, is heart warming, generous and kind. It feels like you’re part of the family eating here. My girlfriend especially liked this. Location wise, you have a great view of the castle itself, the mountains and town surrounding it. They also offer a good selection of drinks.

I have been in this place for lunch after a quick visit to the castle. I have been serve delicious traditional food and they offered me a complimentary tea, another hot drink (I don’t remember the name) and raki homemade by this lovely man. They were very welcoming and the atmosphere was very nice. I recommend this restaurant. And I will definitely go back one day with my girlfriend.

With options ranging from seafood to vegan dishes, Rrapi Restaurant caters to various dietary preferences. Rrapi is the best restaurant in town! Service was really good, food was authentic, very local and we enjoyed it so much. Managed by a very nice family, we went to have dinner and everything was delicious. We ate soup, rice balls (typical Albanian), pasta carbonara and red peppers stuffed with ricotta. The portions were nice with a very correct price so I highly recommend Rrapi. You’ll love it.

A few days ago, I visited Gjirokastër with my family and we had both lunch and dinner at Tek Rrapi, a popular and charming family-run restaurant. It was absolutely wonderful — everything was fresh, delicious, and full of the traditional flavors of southern Albania. The prices were very reasonable, and the service from both the owner and the waiters was perfect. Highly recommended!

We tried a few other restaurants but this one outshined them all for quality and price. 100% family run, the grandma grows the wild cabbage for the delicious Shapkat. It was light and served with yogurt. Great coffee and 1 liter bottles of water available (annoyingly rare in this city). The enormous Sycamore tree shading the terrace was absolutely breathtaking. Highly recommend!

Excellent food, atmosphere, and service. The meatballs and sauce were wonderful. However, wherever I go in Albania, I've never been happy with the "fried potatoes". They should be thinner and cooked longer for a crispy texture.

A Taste of Home, Crafted with Love: Our Experience at Restaurant Gjoça Tradicional From the moment we stepped into Restaurant Gjoça Tradicional, we knew we had stumbled upon something truly special. The warm, inviting ambiance, filled with the gentle hum of happy diners and the soft clinking of cutlery, immediately made us feel at ease. But what truly sets this establishment apart is the undeniable heart and soul poured into every aspect by the two elderly couples who run it. It's rare to find a place where you feel genuinely welcomed, almost as if you're stepping into the home of beloved grandparents. The owners, with their kind smiles and gentle demeanour, circulate through the dining room, sharing a warm word here and a knowing nod there. Their genuine passion for what they do, and for their guests, is palpable. And then there's the food. Oh, the food! Each dish that arrived at our table was a masterpiece of comfort and flavour, instantly transporting us back to the most cherished childhood memories of home-cooked meals. It’s not just food; it’s a culinary hug, a testament to years of perfected recipes and an unwavering dedication to quality. Every bite felt like it was infused with love, reminding us of "mommy cooking coming from heaven." The ingredients tasted fresh, the seasoning was impeccable, and the portions were generous, ensuring you leave feeling nourished in every sense of the word. We savoured every mouthful, which was clearly prepared with immense care and attention to detail. The accompanying dishes rounded out a meal that was not just satisfying, but truly memorable. Restaurant Gjoça Tradicional is more than just a place to eat; it's an experience that nourishes both body and soul. If you're yearning for exceptional food made with love, served with genuine warmth, and imbued with that irreplaceable feeling of home, then this is an absolute must-visit. We left with full bellies, happy hearts, and the promise to return to this little slice of culinary heaven very, very soon.

It is a small restaurant along the old bazaar run by a lovely old couple. We tried a bunch of appetizers - rice wrapped in grape leaves, meatballs, grilled aubergine and chicken. Other than the chicken which was a bit dry, we loved all other dishes. They were very flavourful and feulled us for the hike up to the castle.

This is a wonderful, traditional restaurant with a long and rich history you can feel the moment you sit down. BE. CAREFUL! Food was great, very flavoursome but unfortunately while we were there we saw another group get overcharged and complain then he overcharged us. Luckily, we mentioned the price was wrong but was disappointing it had happened twice while we were sat there and then to us … now we read the other reviews and understand this isn’t a simple mistake but happens often…

Located in a bustling area, Vojsava Restaurant is a charming family-run eatery that prides itself on offering high-quality vegetarian and traditional dishes. The cozy ambiance and friendly owners create a welcoming atmosphere for guests. While the interior may be slightly dim, opting to dine outside allows visitors to soak up the lively surroundings. The menu may be limited, but this ensures that each dish is carefully prepared with attention to detail.
We really enjoyed our time at Vojsava. Our waiter was very welcoming, super friendly and genuinely attentive with us. The atmosphere was relaxed and authentic, with the restaurant situated slightly off the main tourist path. Being mainly vegetarian, the menu was a pleasant surprise; all dishes are home-cooked by the restaurant owners’ 70 year old mother! This is a real treat and is excellent value for money. Overall, Vojsava is a dining experience in Gjirokastër not to be missed!

had an amazing experience at this restaurant! The cheese burek was a delightful surprise, the tzatziki was simply explosive in flavor, and the moussaka was a real “wow” moment. Honestly, every single dish we tried was delicious. The service was outstanding – our waiter was truly wonderful. The atmosphere added so much to the experience, especially when we spotted a 90-year-old grandmother in the back room peeling garlic by hand. It gave such a warm, authentic touch. Everything here is handmade, and you can really taste the love and tradition in every bite. Highly recommended!

Stopped here for dinner after a chilly rainy day in Gjirokaster. We ordered the chicken soup with bread, mountain tea, and meatballs. The food was fresh and delicious! The soup was flavorful, thick, and hearty. I hadn’t had mountain tea before and I was pleasantly surprised- it has a great flavor and they even brought me a small pot with extra in it. The meatballs were also really amazing- they had a lot of seasoning and were tender. The staff was attentive and kind- even letting us stay a bit after closing to finish our meal. We met the owner’s mother who was the chef- you can’t beat a family run restaurant with homemade food made by an actual grandma 🥰

Delicious food, because of the way it is served there is an opportunity to try many dishes. Delicious baklava. Atmospheric restaurant with very friendly and helpful staff. Very cheap (from the perspective of a person accustomed to "European" standards). They accept payment in both Euros and Lek, and you can also pay by card. It was our best meal during our stay in Albania.

The place is really good. There is an extensive menu with several options and the prices are affordable. We ordered a few dishes and had good experiences with most of them, but it was lacking a bit of the full flavor that we had in other restaurants. Staff was friendly, and the place was comfortable overall.

Located in Gjirokaster, Albania, Restaurant-Pizzeri "Kashah" is a popular dining spot offering traditional Albanian cuisine and delicious pizzas. Situated in the historic center, it provides a great view and a cozy atmosphere for visitors to enjoy their meals. The restaurant is known for its slow-cooked dishes and friendly service. Whether you're craving authentic local flavors or tasty pizzas, this restaurant offers a delightful dining experience with its diverse menu options.
We were completely uncertain about where to dine. There are restaurants everywhere, with individuals attempting to entice you inside, we chose to pass by Kashah to review the menu. Rather than feeling pressured, the waiter was exceptionally gracious and recognized our desire to explore the quaint little town first. He remarked, "I will wait for you," which left a lasting impression. Upon our return, we were promptly seated, and we were excited to sample some traditional Albanian cuisine, which is precisely what we received. Harry, our waiter, provided us with the finest recommendations, and we accepted them without hesitation. After spending a week in Albania, I can confidently say that it was the best meal my wife and I have ever experienced. Each bite unfolded a new narrative, filled with spices, flavors, and culture; it was all present. Everything was far more than expected. I requested a local beer, and he served it with a chilled glass. When I inquired about the ingredients in the dishes, he shared the complete story behind their creation. It was not merely dinner at a restaurant; it was an immersion into the history of Albania. I would wholeheartedly recommend it, rating it 10 out of 10.

Te Kubé is a charming café and bookshop located under a mosque, offering a delightful experience for visitors. The breakfast menu features local and organic products, with options like omelets, salads, and yogurt with seeds that are praised for their delicious taste. The friendly staff adds to the welcoming atmosphere of this cozy spot. While alcoholic drinks are not served due to its location under the mosque, the wide variety of fresh juices and coffees make up for it.
Located below the bazaar mosque, this vegetarian cafe not only offers great food, but also a cool place to sit down and relax on hot summer days. I had the soup and a carrot cake. Both were good. The soup could have used just a little more flavor. I did like that it was not too heavy though, as I wanted something light for lunch. The service was super friendly!

Stunning coffee shop library located under the mosque. Great atmosphere, we went to have breakfast and the food was really good. We ordered an omelet and yogurt plus 2 coffees and the bill was 1050 LEK (10,5€). The only reason I don't give him 5 stars is because of the prices as it’s not the cheapest one. Even though, it’s not expensive and I highly recommend it.

Te Kubé in Gjirokastër was honestly such a vibe. It’s this tiny vegetarian café tucked away in the old town, and everything about it was just so lovely. The food? So good. Like, really good. Super fresh, super tasty. I also had a coffee with soy milk (yes, they have plant-based options!), and it was exactly what we needed. What made it even better was the atmosphere. I don’t know if it was the owner, but the woman who was there was so kind and sweet – really made you feel at home. Actually all of the staff did! There’s also this little shop inside with art pieces by Albanian artists and some vinyls, and it all just feels very carefully put together, in the best way. If you’re in Gjirokastër and want a break from the usual, go there. It’s cozy, creative, delicious — everything at once.

My husband and I stopped for coffee, hoping for a pleasant experience. While the coffee itself was enjoyable, the service was deeply disappointing from start to finish. The staff was extremely rude, making us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. When it came time to pay, the waiter insisted on an exorbitant exchange rate. Our bill was 660 Lek, but he demanded an equivalent of 860 Lek for EUR, which was unreasonable. We ended up paying with CC. Ripping clients off its never ok.

As an albanian, this place puts Albanian cuisine to shame. Same owner owns all 3 or 4 stores next to each other. Slightly different menus, but same sluggish and " i have no clue" service. We had such a lovely lunch here yesterday! The food was SO GOOD! It came recommended as one of the best traditional restaurants in town. It is down a side street and so it can be easily missed. I stayed in Gjyrokaster for three nights, and I came to Old Town 13 every day. It was definitely my favourite bar in the old town. It is located in the very centre of the Old Bazaar streets, and where there is a great atmosphere and lots of buzz. There is a lovely terrace that is furnished beautifully. Bar Restaurant Kerculla is a popular dining spot in Gjirokaster, known for its uphill location that offers stunning city views. While the 30-minute walk up the hill is an option, it's recommended to take a taxi due to the steep incline and lack of proper sidewalk. The restaurant boasts top-notch service with responsive and quick waitstaff. The menu features delicious risotto and reasonably priced Italian wine.

We were staying at Kerculla Resort for 2 nights and had lunch twice in the restaurant. The food was good (soup and salads both days). Prices were higher that local restaurants in the old town, but that's to be expected in a resort hotel. The Kerculla restaurant upstairs was beautifully decorated and had amazing views. Beers and wines were well priced. Service was pretty slow, as it was everywhere else in the hotel. They seem very short staffed which impacted upon service hugely. Bottled water was served to us and charged for without any consultation which I found a bit needless. On our second visit, we charged our meal to our room at the request of the waiter serving us. When we settled the bill at the end of out stay, I noticed the waiter had added a tip without our consent. The money itself wasn't an issue, but it was the principle

This is the 3rd time I've visited this restaurant in 5 years, nothing has changed, the staff is good and very friendly, with a vigilant manager who is always on his feet to take care of everything. Then the food is a 10, it's just as good every time you go, I highly recommend it, if you visit Gjirokastra and don't go to this restaurant you will only remember the taste of the eyes and not the taste of the mouth 🤣

Drive up there is quite challenging. Gorgeous view, good food, prices are above average which is to be expected with the view. Waiters were friendly but need more training. One of the waiters was watching videos on his phone with the sound on which is a no go and took away from the otherwise nice ambience.

Nestled above the Babameto 2 Cocktail Bar & Restaurant, Alsara Rooftop Cocktail Bar is a hidden gem in Gjirokaster that you simply cannot overlook. This charming terrace offers breathtaking views of the city, especially during sunset, making it an ideal spot for couples and photographers alike. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring the Old Bazaar.
Amazing new hotspot! Lovely and very helpful people who own the place, would highly recommend! They offer lots of choice and over the past few days I’ve enjoyed quite a few different ones, all delicious!

Just a great place. Nice people, good service, nice drinks. We sat her during a thunder storm (covered) and it was just very chill. And of course: great view.

If you are in Gjirokaster, especially near the Old Bazaar, don't miss this cocktail bar on a beautiful terrace that offers an unforgettable experience. With stunning views, fresh air and a cozy atmosphere, it's the perfect place to relax. The cocktails are fantastic mix of flavours-creative, refreshing, and expertly made. The service is top-notch: friendly, professional and welcoming. This spot is a true hidden gem you shouldn't miss. Recommended to all locals and tourists!

Really good Cocktails. We've had some bad drinks the evening before and were a little frightened what to expect this time. But the Barkeeper knows what his business and mixed us some really good Drinks. Plus, we loved the view!
Dilias P — Google review
This spot is an absolute must-visit! The views are simply stunning—especially at sunset—offering one of the very best panoramas of the city. It’s no wonder many couples choose this place for their wedding photos. What truly made the experience unforgettable was the owner. He was so kind and welcoming, his smile immediately made us smile too :) When he saw my daughter crying, he immediately served her ice cream with a big smile, without even asking for money. That small gesture turned our evening into something really special and tells alot about his hospitality and kindness. The combination of breathtaking views, a relaxed atmosphere, and genuine hospitality makes this place stand out from anything else in town. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Gjirokastër!

If you're looking for an authentic dining experience in Gjirokaster, look no further than Restaurant Bebej Tradicional. This charming eatery offers a delightful array of homemade dishes, all priced at just 2 Euro each. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, thanks to the genuinely kind owners who make you feel right at home. Located conveniently before your drive to the castle, it's the perfect spot to enjoy traditional cuisine without any pretentiousness.
Great place! We had a better meal here than at some five star 'traditional' places, but for less than half of the price and with none of the pretenses. This is an honest place, run by genuinely kind people. Great homemade raki too.
Sam K — Google review
The food wasn't what we expected. As a matter of fact it was a huge disappointment and ruined our mood. The food was not good, the portions were really small. We tried 4 of the dishes and all of them were terrible. Other dishes were even worse. Mousakas and pastichio were a joke to even be named like that. The food was edible but really bad and 1 star is really appropriate cause all its other reviews are fake and it's a shame we spent our time and money. There are many restaurants we passed that we would love to have tried and didn't because we were lured from the fake reviews so I hope it doesn't ruin your experience too. Cheers!
George N — Google review
The food was bad, portions were really small, for sure not authentic and even advertised faulsy( mousaka didn't have minced meat and have and bechamel, it had spaghetti with some white sauce and called it pastichio, and meatballs were almost plain bread). It is a tourist trap and not even worth your time, the only real advertisment was that all dishes worth 200 leke which honestly are expensive for the quality and the quantity of the food.
Stavros N — Google review

Tourists Guest House is a charming little apartment with a great location, making it perfect for exploring the city's must-see places. The hosts are incredibly friendly and go out of their way to make guests feel at home. The accommodations are spacious, although the building itself is old and worn. Despite this, it offers good value for money. The guesthouse is situated in an old Ottoman building and provides large, bright rooms.
This place boasts a very good location, close to tourist attractions, and offers spacious accommodations. While it's a bit old and worn out, it has everything needed for a short stay and offers good value for money.

Recommend in summer but not in winter . It’s too cold and humide, there is no air conditioning in the room, only a small electric heater which can heat around 20cm distance 🥶 I stayed one night there in December, the bed sheet is wet and the toilet flashing is not working 🥹. The host is nice though and the price is cheap. My

Very nice place, we took a little room with the bathroom. There is air conditioning and a TV. What we noticed is an Albanian thing to do is that they leave you flip flops to use under shower which we found really considerate. There is a separate entrance to the room just for you to use.

(Translated by Google) We spent one night here and we must admit that the place met our expectations. Although the rooms are a bit cramped, you don't need anything else for such a short stay. Everything was clean and well-kept, you can see that the owners care about order. The facility itself has a pleasant, homely atmosphere, and its main advantage are the incredibly nice and helpful owners. We had a small incident - I scratched the car slightly and the owner reacted quickly. He helped me find a local painter who solved the problem at a reasonable price, and the owner also lent us his garage. We really appreciate such support and highly recommend this place! Mieliśmy mały incydent – zarysowałam delikatnie samochód, a pan właściciel szybko zareagował. Pomógł mi znaleźć lokalnego lakiernika, który rozwiązał problem w rozsądnej cenie, a dodatkowo właściciel użyczył nam swojego garażu. Naprawdę doceniamy takie wsparcie i serdecznie polecamy to miejsce!

(Translated by Google) Great room, especially for the price you pay. We slept well in the bed, air conditioning worked very well too. Shower was fine, just not really a curtain or cabin but just next to the toilet (we already knew that in advance). The hostess was sweet even though she did not speak very good English. Location is our only downside, it is a fifteen minute walk to the old center and it is quite a steep climb there. Tried it with the car first but didn't do it! There are narrow roads and we almost went wrong a number of times, because we had nowhere to park and maps gave routes that were not possible at all (because it was a staircase instead of a motorway...).

Pizza Me Gusta is a restaurant located in Gjirokaster, Albania. It offers a variety of dishes for 200 Leke each and is known for its excellent service and friendly staff. The menu includes delicious pizzas, salads, and chicken plates that are always fresh. The restaurant also provides fast delivery and serves local beers like Korca and Elbar. With its clean environment and reasonable prices, Pizza Me Gusta is considered the best place in town to enjoy a satisfying meal.
A warm welcome from Klejvis and we sat in the wonderful air-conditioned room. Klejvis brought us English menus and helped us with our choices. We shared a range of appetizers. The xaxia (tzatiki) was served with warm bread - delicious. We had the qofte (kofta) which were 12 flavourful bites. And we loved the specs te mbushura (stuffed peppers with cheese and ham). A tasty Greek salad was the perfect accompliment. And we had delicious watermelon and rockmelon for dessert - a nice touch by the restaurant. Great food and service.

Pizza 'N' Burger Wide is a delightful gem that stands out in the fast-food scene. After a visit to the hospital, I stumbled upon this spot and was pleasantly surprised by its warm hospitality. The staff went above and beyond, offering complimentary chips to my daughter while we waited for our order. The menu features delicious options like Gyro Pita, where you can customize your sauce choice for each order.
What an amazing find! I had just been to hospital with my daughter and we had nothing on us until my husband picked me up. I’m celiac and the guy brought my daughter some chips that were amazing and free of charge as he could see she was hungry and I was struggling. He let me order my food and wait for my husband to come with the cash and pick us up. I felt so welcome and the food was delicious. The place was so clean and i got to have a salad and meat and chips which I would normally have been turned down for at a fast food place. They were quick and clean and friendly and really helpful. The food was delicious and the only downside I could say would be that it was cash only. Thank you so much for your amazing food and kindness we will come back again and again
Lauren J — Google review
It was a little different than what I expected as a fast-food restaurant, but actually close to the pizza bakery with ice cream self-vending machine. Gyro Pita, where you are asked which of the three sauces you prefer, is made for each order. There are no tables, but some plastic chairs along the street to sit. The prices are reasonable 300 Lek. # Albania

Just awesome food! 300 Lek for a gyros or kebab. I'd go for the kebab every time! The sauces are really good and the veggies seem to be really fresh.

A very typical Albanian local affair of pita gyros and Sufflaqe (souvlaki) sandwiches for an amazing price of 290lek, which is am amazing steal for the amount of food and the convenient location. Very authentic and delicious, would come back again. They also serve pizzas and calzone

If you find yourself in Gjirokaster and craving a slice of pizza, look no further than Pizza Edi. This charming spot offers an inviting atmosphere where you can enjoy freshly baked pizzas that are both affordable and satisfying. While the crust may not be the most exciting, the overall experience is enhanced by their efficient service—especially their quick response on WhatsApp for orders! Diners appreciate the timely delivery of hot pizzas right to their table, making it a convenient choice when hunger strikes.
Best if you need some food delivery in gjirokaster, given there isnt any info for deliveries online. Whatsapp them to order and they will send you menu. Also, we didnt have to pay any extra for delivery. Pizzas were good and the chicken kebap was even better!
Krystal — Google review
Fortunately, I've rarely eaten bad tasting pizza in a restaurant. Any pizza restaurant can serve tasty pizza to some extent, unless it's a cold pizza. The quality of the pizza that this place served was not that high, but it was affordable. One of the reasons is the bland crust. On the other hand, the sizzle was high, baked in a pizza oven all at once. Especially the effort to lift a piece of pizza with a tool on purpose added to the sizzle over the table. There is a chimney from the kitchen to the outside. The wide variety of pizzas should be highly rated. The service garcon was very attentive. Someone said here in a review, accusing it of child labor, but I don't think so, it's just a help from the family business, which is widely seen in Albania. When I found the garcon helping his older sister or mother to wipe the door at a higher place instead, it made me impressed with his consideration. The price is not high, not low, on average. The large table for four is comfortable and the garcon puts the paper cloth over the table before serving. Please note that there are two shops divided into the fast food pizza restaurant on the right side, and cafe on the left side. # Albania
