I went there and announced to the waiters that I wanted to eat, they showed me a table to seat, then I waited, 15min later I asked a waiter to give me the menu and gave it to me. Couple of other people arrived in the meantime, and surprisingly they got a menu and ordered right away... Ah and some RATS came out from the pillars to eat some food that dropped on the floor. I waited in total 45min before going somewhere else where I was served and well welcomed. As I wanted to give them more chances and told myself that it was unfortunate, I tried 2 more times and same result... Seems that they don't care about you if you are just a lone guy who wants to eat something (not enough money for them ?) Avoid this place if you want a nice meal

we order quite a number of food, only the carbonara is disappointing, the rest is good. they have live band and the price is affordable for expat. mostly foreigner. be prepared to wait awhile for your food

Food is ok, price is not cheap as all other joints around Dili. Coast-front location with sea breeze is nice, good place to chill out. Located on 2nd floor, can be windy sometimes. Take too long to serve after order, also quite common amongst other places in Dili....

The exotic cuisine was a new experience for us. The fish was incredibly fresh and delicious. It was one of the best meals of our trip to Timor-Leste.

I hate to say that I did not enjoy the food as much as I thought I would. The waiter did clearly say they used coconut oil but I must have missed that detail. I’m no fan of coconut oil so I admit that to be my own fault. My partner on the other hand, loved the food. The juices are fresh, and the local fruit platter with honey and milk is refreshing and a nice treat at the end of the meal. The ambience of the place is nice with an AC indoor room (perfect to beat the heat). The staff were friendly and understanding, I hope they didn’t take any offence to me not finishing my meal. I hope to come back and try something else on the menu, the other meals looked delicious. Best of luck Agora, I hope to try again soon.

I agree with Rachel Ho and Gabriel Samuel. The staff and the place is really good BUT the food did not suit my taste except for their drinks. I came here due to recommendations from blogs and ChatGPT but I regret that. 😂 I was looking for Ikan Sabuko and Batar Da’an but those are not available here.

We probably came at the wrong time in between meal times. Lovely atmosphere. Menu looked nice but we only wanted a little something with coffee and it was limited- no reflection on the place just an odd time. Would like to try again.

Update: dropping to two and a half stars. I ordered their $12 ribs. What came was so disappointing I sent it back (a first for me in 3 years). Photo of ribs included. It looked nothing like the beautiful bbq ribs on the menu, what came was a small plate of boiled rib pieces. No sign of bbq. Not worth the price. The Asian dishes are the better way to go at this place. ------ Has a nice Ocean View. The food is simple and common. The decorations are quaint. Could be considered a romantic place to go to. Is able to host large events with advance planning. The toilet facilities are in need of an upgrade.

I found the grilled fish to be quite expensive. The Tom Yum Soup was not to my standards. And the other foods I've tried here were just average. The service is also average, almost bad. The restaurant doesn't seem very clean. Besides the Thai menu, they also have a Lebanese menu. One good thing about this place: it is by the beach, so you can enjoy the "beautiful" brown sea. If you plan to come here, remind yourself to lower your expectations.

Came here for lunch because other places were closed. The food was good. However, in the afternoon you can see clearly that this place is almost like a run-down. I could barely eat because flies were flying around my food. Waitted for the staff to do something, but no they did not. So i had to ask for candles.

It's a nice "destination" place but the food is quite variable: have eaten here a number of times. Agree with review re cheese on seafood pasta - a travesty - but when not in Rome I guess...(I've yet to experience good pasta in Dili). Probably best sticking to burgers or Indonesian food. Today's salmon donburi special was an odd concoction with lots of onions, egg and cauliflower (nothing like advertised). Food could definitely be improved. Service is very good.

Pizza was absolute trash and undercooked. Staff does not properly explain the happy hour so you end up paying things at full price. I know there's not many options in Dili but that's still no reason to have such a shitty bar. Stay away if you can.

This grilled chicken dish is the best !! Has some Korean style sauce, awesome. This 10 dollar dish also comes with sauteed water spinach (kang kong - my fav vegie!!), tofu, tempeh, rice sprinkled with pieces of fried garlic, a piece of lemon and a bit of Indonesian spice chili sauce (on a separate sauce plate) ♡

Nice place to get lunch or dinner. On the weekend evenings it may be the most happening place in Dili with live music and happy hours. Great place for the occasional social event. This is a mildly upscale restaurant bar complete with cloth napkins wine glasses and middle-range fair. Happy hour price for a bintang beer is $2.10 happy hour is from 5 p.m. to 7 pm. The restaurant has one of the best views of Dili and the mountains that surround the small city. You can easily see Atauro Island and Cristo Rei (Christ statue). Sometimes for lunch they have a buffet that's pretty good.

Dilicious is one of the places I often go to for food. The dishes are delicious, with rich local flavors from Timor-Leste and plenty of options to choose from. My favorites are the fish soup, tukir, fish saboko, grilled octopus, and the curry soup made with cow’s intestines. It’s always refreshing to sip on a fresh cold coconut while waiting for your meal. Their desserts are also great and truly taste local—as they should. I recommend this place to anyone traveling to Timor-Leste or even locals looking for a good meal. They also serve excellent chicken porridge. The customer service is friendlier than at most restaurants I’ve been to in Dili. The staff always do their best to give you a memorable experience. High quality, healthy food with an affordable price tag! I'm glad I chose this restaurant in Dili to experience some of its local cuisines. The staffs are super friendly and takes great care of its customers, great hospitality! I tried their tomato tofu and braised chicken, both are very good. The tomato tofu is a great vegetarian option for local food. It's also super healthy as evident by the generous portion of salads and brown rice. The tofu dish itself is has an interesting yet delicious taste. My favourite is definitely the braised chicken. As a basil lover, I appreciate the use of it in the sauce, the chicken meat is super tender too. The vege side dish has a savoury taste that's pretty appetising too. Their parking lot is actually right behind the building, it's guarded so you don't have to worry about petty theives. Highly recommended to try it out if you're in Dili!

A nice local restaurant in a good location that has a range of local dishes and drinks among other western fusion style options. I was recommended this place by a couple of friends and a tour guide and it didn't disappoint. The manager was very helpful and each time a i came in would recommend different combinations of local dishes and drinks. I had a couple of lunches and dinners here. For me it was a short walk to get here or a microlet if really wanted. And it was handy that the kitchen was open till late evening. The atmosphere was quite good and evenings would have live music. Definitely highly recommended for a local meal

Free iced water is provided here. Went on a Sat morning and the place only had 2 - 3 customers. Ordered an Americano and the local porridge. For $7 the porridge is quite expensive and nothing special

This was a great find while in Dili, and I was down to it by its fun name. The restaurant is on a Main Street. I was there a bit early for dinner. I was quickly seated. And asked for recommendations. I went with Fish cakes and traditional beef with rice. Both were tasty and had good mix of spices and flavors. I enjoyed the decor. The tables are sewing machine bases, and there’s sewing related decorations as well. There’s outside area too. Which seemed nice. The service was friendly and prices were very affordable. I liked the overall experience. By the time I was leaving other ppl (mostly foreigners) were beginning to trickle in. I figure it gets busy during actual dinner hours. Highly recommended.

Incredible food! Best I’ve eaten in Timor Leste. Tommy is a great host and the menu is varied, different and has something for everyone. The breadfruit quesadillas for starters were amazing, and the beef rendang and pumpkin ravioli were sensational. Great place to eat in Dili!!!

The best Steak Restaurant in town! We always go there whenever we are craving for delicious meals and desserts. It's my wife's favourite restaurant. On that day, we ordered "Fillet Mignon and Picanha", the meat was so juicy, medium well, and the dessert are good looking presentation and tasty! The services are excellent.

Always book by WhatsApp, walk-ins hardly get a table. Staff are friendly and helpful. There is a free salad bar while waiting. Sometimes the steak isn’t cooked as requested and a few dishes have too much flavor enhancer. Still, desserts are a must and Pro-Ema remains my go-to for a proper dinner in Dili.

Run by an NGO of the same name that teaches locals Western Cooking and food service, Pro-Ema is a great place to grab more familiar food to those coming from overseas. Food's price is a little more on the expensive side relative to most restaurants in the vicinity, but well worth it. Portions are just as big as any other place's, the menu has a variety of meals, desserts and drinks, and taste great. The fish and prawn in coconut cream is my personal recommendation. The service staff are friendly and upfront with what is and isn't available, but the food can take a while to arrive, per the norm in most restaurants. Atmosphere was welcoming and cooling. Interior was spotless and air conditioned, allowing for a pleasant dining experience at one's own pace. Plus a gift shop full of handicraft outside.

I would give six stars out of five if I could! This restaurant was one of the best places I’ve ever visited in TL. I didn’t make a reservation in advance, but they still managed to prepare a table for us. The steak and seafood were beautifully cooked, and the taste was excellent. You must try the dessert as well — it’s beautifully decorated and tastes amazing. Definitely a satisfying place!

Always impeccable flavour! Organised restaurant, always with everything very well done. All the waiters and attendants are super attentive and friendly. I thought it would be difficult to find a place that had milk-free options for allergy sufferers. But at ProEma they are always careful. Even when I don’t realise there’s milk on the plate I ordered, they always come back and let me know. The flavour of the food is very good! It’s been a while since I felt the taste of a Brazilian bean, and here I could feel this Brazilian taste at home. ❤️

Caz Bar is iconic, as are Dino and the team. Always friendly and efficient, Caz Bar is basic but good and the perfect place to watch the sunset. Honestly I come here for the vibe and atmosphere, not so much the food. Having said that, I order the Buddha bowl every single time and it’s a generous portion with lots of fresh ingredients, goes well with a fresh coconut!

Try the hamburger, it's very good! Espectacular sunsets! It has tables by the sea and inside the establishment too, it has a pool table, bathroom and parking. The quality of service depends a lot on the mood and personality of each of the waiters, in short: you are left to your own luck in this respect.

One of the few places in town that offer delivery. They're known for their Pizza. I'm a big fan of the pesto Pizza. Pasta dishes are also highly recommended but the difference in size between a small and a large is negligible so you're better off actually ordering the small. They used to have a seared tuna salad which was fantastic but I haven't seen it on the menu recently. They sell pizzas for about $15. Water is a buck and soda water is two. The atmosphere and decor reminds you of a small little restaurant in Italy, you can look right into the kitchen through the glass panes. There is booth seating or table seating with fans too cool you. One major downsize is it's very close to a noisy and dusty road. They have a room in the back that can be rented for events. This room includes a full bar. You can hire a dj too. Their service during lunch time is inconsistent, there are times that you get your lunch right away and times where you can easily wait for an hour. They really need to work on this. The accept credit cards.

Located right in front of Pantai Kelapa, this place serves italian food. Service is superb, staff are friendly, and they accomodated our request for a quick meal - we only had 20 minutes to eat cause we had a movie to catch. They gave us free soup, which was very tasty. Food is delicious and quite pricey. The place is neat and clean, but a bit dark. Perhaps it would look better in the daylight. Good place for couples, friends, and families.

But what was also equally nice was Chef came came and said some ingredients were unavailable and gave a list of what they were substituting. Honesty plus. One of the best Indian Foods restaurant at Dili. Located at unit CBD2 opposite the famous Timor Plaza, guest could easily identify the eatery. We have the tandoori chicken, house prawns, lambs and chicken. Also the Nan Bread, is really yummy!!

One of the more upscale indian restaurant in Dili. Food taste is quite good. Beef masala is soft. Sometimes the food was served cold, price wise is slightly above average otherwise it is a good indian restaurant to go to. Now they serve lunch boxes at usd5 per box which is quite reasonable....

The non-Indonesian restaurant that we visit regularly because of its halal. Might be the best Indian restaurant in Dili, and East Timor. Our favourite are fried rice, briyani rice, cheese naan and beef curry. They provide lunch box menu as well, $5 each. Typically need quite long time to cook the food. Delivery order is availabe.

Food poisoned twice. No joke. We used to go there regularly. Wife and I ate there in Dec. 2016, and we were sick for three weeks. I tried it again about 6 months later, and fell sick a second time. Both times it was the chicken tikka masala. It's sad because I used to love this place, but I can never go back after getting so sick. I hope they improve their food safety.

Came here because of a friend's recommendation. Had a lunch buffet and was blown away by every single dish. The highlight of the buffet was the carrot pudding (a pudding form of carrot cake). It is not overwhelmingly sweet nor dry. I especially love the crust and the bananas used to sweeten the dessert. The fish curry was also a great contender. Seafood was fresh, curry was spiced well, not spicy (which totally suits my palate) but the spices certainly pack a flavourful punch. The best part of it all is that proceeds support the work of Casa Vida, and it is a meaningful cause.

Aroma cafe supports the training of local Timorese and Casa Vida, an NGO that rescues and reintegrates victims of violence. The food is great and the service is first class! Helder the chef is extremely accommodating and welcoming. US$15 for an all you can eat buffet lunch including drink and dessert. The restaurant is super clean and has a great vibe to chill and eat with friends or just hang out for a coffee by yourself (with a snack of course ;))

One of my favorite places for lunch. Herb butter steak is fantastic. Co-worker always raving about the chocolate cake. Some of the waiters have trained at ETDA, so they stick out to me as competent and attentive.

Typical Chinese-running restaurant. When I entered the restaurant at 6.30pm, all female waiters were playing their hand phones and no motivation to serve. The restaurant provided some Timorese dishes. Overall, the dishes were expensive with that kind of service and environment. Steam rice charged USD1, Coke charged USD2.5, fried chicken with sweet and sour sauce USD9.

Had a beer here yesterday, came back for lunch today. Absolutely awesome. A great location to escape. The BBQ bacon cheeseburger wasn’t big but rivaled great burger places in Australia in flavor. The staff are fantastic and very attentive and friendly. And the place has TVs that show sports from all countries in 4K. Highly recommend.

Great little sports bar with excellent food and service. We went there to watch the Singapore GP and the staff put it on every tv for us and turned up the sound. Brilliant!

Organized, neat and clean supermarket primarily stocking Portuguese food and products. One of the few places in Dili that take care to ensure their fresh produce is in good condition on shelves and refresh their inventory regularly. Our go to for a good variety of bread, hams and cheeses.

Popular supermarket and coffee shop for western in Dili. The supermarket provides mostly Portuguese products, like dairy, beer, and groceries. The coffee shop is usually crowded in the morning. People spend 15-20 mins for coffee and quick bites. They only have espresso, latte, and cappuccino. They have some standing tables and chairs outside as well. Recommended.

We tried the cafe at this place, the coffee and tea was excellent. There are various Euro-style sweet baked treats and baguettes etc. It is quite a nice place to sit outside, and the service was very fast.

"Perfect Location and Great Vibes" I had a wonderful stay at daTerra Hostel in Dili. The location is unbeatable—close to the airport, just a short walk to the beach, and near Timor Plaza where you can catch a bus to Kupang. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, making it a great base for exploring the area. Highly recommend for travelers passing through or staying a bit longer!

Didn't see other reviews mention it, but the hostel doesn't provide WiFi. My device had problems connecting using data, and that caused a lot of inconveniences for me without Internet connection, so plan accordingly. The entrance can be easy to miss. It's a huge sliding gate that you have to open yourself when you get there. The location is nice, it's near the airport, its also a 20 mins walk from Timor Plaza if you're using the Dili-Kupang bus. There's also a microlet route nearby is you're planning to ride into the city. Otherwise I love the vibe of the hostel, really makes you feel close to the nature. I got the most basic dorm without AC and it only costs 10.2 USD/night. The non-AC rooms are very basic, at least the beds were clean and mosquito nets are provided. However, I encountered a few cockroaches and some ants so that's something to work on. My favourite part of definitely their outdoor bathroom. It's tastefully decorated with a nature theme. There should be hot water showers but I don't feel like it's working as well, since the hottest I can get is room temperature water. There was only a group of women managing the place throughout my stay. They are friendly, helpful, and speak good English. Loved their simple yet healthy breakfast. I did not receive any kombucha welcome drink as advertised tho. You can rent their bike for 15 USD, I wasn't allow to use it to make a day trip to Mt Ramelau due to the bad roads. I also soon realise after renting the bike that it wasn't in the best condition, ended up going for Baucau instead. Overall this is still the best hostel for budget travellers. Everything is still pretty clean and well organised, will recommend.

This one of two DaTerra Hostels in Dili is a good option if you want to be close to the airport, the place where the buses to Westtimor start, or close to the sea. It is fairly clean and staff is nice. However, I stayed in the bungalow dormitory which is a good budget option for one night but I wouldn't recommend staying there for too long. It's close to nature - mosquitoes and mice, and none of the nets is completely without holes, but fixable. Also, the garden area wasn't very nice in dry season. The DaTerra VilaVerde in the City centre is so mub more beautiful! With a huge and green garden, many hammocks, and an additional roof-struckture so that guests find places to have a bit of peace and quiet. Also, it's much closer to anything worth visiting. If you don't want to rent a scooter remember that microlets only operate during daylight hours.

Herbal duck soup noodle was great and everything else we ordered like charsiew noodle, fried rice n nasi lemak were surprisingly good.

Love the fried rice with extra egg, ordered it every week, good quality food. Since I live pretty close, they are able to deliver to my place directly, no charges. They have buffet on weekdays, and I'd say, it is pretty good for the price. If you know the owner pretty well, you can even ask them to help cook. Overall, it is one of my favourite in Dili.

I tried some vegetarian foods and it was among the best South Asian foods that you'll get in Dili. They also have a slew of tandoori food and fresh fruit juices which are a must try. Queen Tundriee is also among a few restaurants in Dili with all kinds of breads - tawa roti, different types of tandoori roti/ Paratha and naan.

They have various kinds of Middle East food, such as naan bread, tandoori chicken, briyani rice, masala tea, etc. The price for main meals is around $5-8, quite expensive for local people in general. However, the taste is authentic. It's quite tricky to find a good parking spot. You should park your car at the park nearby.

The foods are normal, Nan breads taste all the same even order different flavours. We order cheese and garlic flavour, no distinctive different. The setup in term of furnishing is general, the cleanliness was acceptable. Table service was offered. No parking space, only roadside parking available. A Dili institution. This place has been around for years and the prices have hardly changed. Cheap and tasty food. I recommend the masala dosa and other vegetarian dishes. The aloo paratha is good too all washed down with a $2 mango lassi and don’t forget a scoop of ice cream for desert.

It's only the food that really counts. Hari uses spices and fresh herbs to whip up some real magic. If you've still got functioning tasts buds use them at this place and savour some of the best Indian food you'll have in a lifetime. Big generous serves too, so go when you're hungry, or take away some afterwards!

We ordered delivery and it took more than 2 hours to get to us. More than enough time for us to go out do shopping and cook the entire thing from scratch. We got a shrimp curry with 6 small ex frozen shrimps and a chicken tikka masala with little chicken. Both quite bland and mediocre.The garlic nan was rubbery. We had anyway lost our appetite for waiting so long. Never again.

Worse, when asked the Burger King Associates or Staff have not been provided anny information regarding status just “hotu”. Taro popular in Timor Leste. Please call distributor for status update or source from local vendor as Timorese need work 🙏🏻. Also for Customer courtesy, please temporarily cover the large Menu Taro Pie photo and price do customer waiting in line can quickly notice Taro Pies is out of stock as not on menu. Then customer quickly knows and can leave instead of waiting to ask if available. When Taro Pies return pull tape (they sell yellow, green, blue, white , red and black) or humorous sad frowns face tape for temporary coverup . 🙏🏻

A good place to get a burger. For around $8 USD (maybe a little more) you can get a burger, fries and a drink (Whooper is recommended). Sometimes it is cheaper to buy a meal here than in any other conventional restaurant in Dili. The quality of the food is always consistent and you don't only have hamburgers on the menu, you can also get chicken and rice, chicken nuggets or even an ice cream (the famous Sundae is recommended). The place is clean and fresh and the service is great. The cashiers always serve the customer with a friendly "good morning", "good afternoon" or "good evening" depending on the time of day and always say goodbye to the customer with a "thank you". The meats quality need to be improved. Freshness is very important as its truly many people concerns. Bun quality could be improved probably study the stock movement to maintain freshness. I've never had any diarrhea from here. I visited here for the first time in 2018. The late owner was very hospitable and welcoming. The food tasted great and the aircon always worked well. Until now, the late owner's wife became the manager, they still take criticism and feedback well. Occasionally, I would have the honour to be invited to staple their new dishes. Price is considered as affordable for Timor. The location is a bit off the centre, though.

A nice place designed for you to sit with friends (or by yourself) whilst enjoying some coffee (or anything else that they have on their menu). First and foremost, let me say that what I like the most about this place is the parking lot: even though it is not exclusive to Gloria Jean’s Coffees, there’s still plenty of place to park your car/bike away from the street. Although small in size, this coffeehouse serves all the regular beverages and food associated with Gloria Jean’s Coffees. The staff are usually very nice. I usually have the cafffe latte and it is quite good. Also tried the orange juice and it falls in the same category. When it comes to food, I’ve only tried the muffins and those are really enjoyable. As for pricing, it can be a little bit more expensive then other coffee houses in Dili. As with any other Gloria Jean’s Coffees house, you do have the option of having your coffee to go. This place do offer seating outdoors and indoors (there is downstairs and upstairs seating available). I don’t usually sit here because the music is too loud for my taste and I do prefer a place more calm and serene, but if you don’t mind screaming at each other, then this is the place for you.

Came for a stay-cay and didn’t want to leave. Service was great- all staff are attentive to any requests, food is yum- highly recommend tequila prawns and the fish and prawn curry. Hotel Esplanada is one of the most welcoming and special places I've stayed in, and my visit to Timor Leste was beyond expectations. I've been fortunate enough to visit over 80 countries and this trip is the most memorable I've had, starting with the unparalleled hospitality I received from Hotel Esplanada's owner and team. I flew into the airport on a rough, delayed red eye flight and the transportation they arranged for was waiting for me despite the long arrivals process and 4 hour delay, and from there, I felt so well taken care of. I was concerned before visiting that there is little information on the internet about Timor Leste since it's visited by so few people. All my concerns evaporated by the warmth and consideration of the community, and the immaculate island vibes. Dili, and Timor Leste in general, feels the complete opposite of other "overtouristed" places in the world - completely authentic and undiscovered with warm, welcoming people who are forward thinking despite a recent, brutal history. The hotel itself was founded by a wonderful Australian gentleman, Ash, who opened the hotel over twenty years ago and who is still very hands on with the hotel and is deeply invested and giving to the community and culture, and personally ensures that all guests are warmly welcome. There is a wonderful rooftop covered deck overlooking the sea with live music and a great varied menu with ice cold beers on tap, and also where the free breakfast is served. My room had a boutique feel with powerful AC, a comfortable bed, many outlets, and a great bathroom. There were yoga classes next to the pool in the morning which I wished I could have joined for - looked very peaceful. They helped organize all transport and logistics to an ambitious overnight stay at gorgeous Atauro island in partnership with Compass Diving - all flawlessly organized over WhatsApp. Atauro is so worthwhile to visit - only stayed one night but went on 3 snorkeling expeditions with the most epic pristine underwater coral wonderland imaginable and found it deeply relaxing. All in all an outstanding value for money and even though a short visit, left with the best memories.

This is one of the better hotels here. Remember it’s Timor-Leste not Bali, but the wifi is available everywhere, clean pool, bar with a breeze and view and good food - and easy access to cheap transport makes this my choice here. Great service also. If the toilet gets clogged (and it does everywhere - even at Hotel Timor) they fix it quickly. It’s relaxed and safe. Good food places down the road also. Easy to get to the airport and they organise metered blue taxis if you need them.

Lovely establishment. Visited for lunch and experienced a pleasant atmosphere. Opted for the Ayam Bakar (half chicken) with rice priced at USD 10. The staff members are attentive and accommodating. Wifi is accessible and there is an abundance of parking spaces.

This place is like a refuge for me. Here I feel that time passes from wandering and I can take advantage of every minute to enjoy the view. No matter what time you go, you will always have an impeccable and different view. The food is tasty and the attendants speak English and also Portuguese. It also has several different options for those who like to think to choose. The octopus salad with bread, the house bread, is definitely a good option. If you go to the Legendario don’t forget to ask for a coconut water and enjoy the view! 🩵

Came here for lunch on a Monday afternoon. It was pretty quiet! I had the grilled fish with brown rice. It was super tasty and the fish tasted fresh. Service is good and fast. I highly recommend.

Popped in for late afternoon drinks. Uncomfortable rattan chairs with no cushioning. Expensive vs other bars and hotel bars. Wifi didn’t work. Not located at the waterfront either, it’s set back which means the view isn’t so good. Left after one drink.

Decent food, not spectacular, with one exception: the hot & sour soup was delicious! Also enjoyed the sweet & sour chicken — but it was just average, chicken bits were small for the high price. The decor is quite nice, which I appreciated. I wish they offered a larger selection of wine by the glass. Also, prefer my red wine not refrigerated; still, it tasted fine.

That day, we celebrated my mother's birthday. The food was good, and the service was great. The owner was quite strict with the staff, which made the service very fast and attentive.

The decor is nice but the owner's attitude ruined the whole experience, not a single smile on her face. The whole restaurant was empty but she kept saying we're fully booked and she's doing me a favor to let me eat there. When I asked for the menu, she swaggered her finger like I'm bothering her. When I asked for recommendations, she just stood there. $31 for lamp chop, mojito and Timor coffee. The food is not exceptional, nothing to write home about. I had better food in America for cheaper! Also, she was quite rude to her staff, too. Oh yeah, cats are everywhere. I bet I ate some cat hair.

Had a delicious grilled fish ($20) and a lovely, fluffy chocolate dessert! The chef-owner kindly kept checking on us and all of the wait staff was very attentive. The atmosphere feels very private as you're tucked in amongst lots of plants but there are also a few outdoor couches on the beachfront. The cats were not bothersome at all-- I love that the kitchen offers the local stray cats the scraps, what a good way to deal with food waste!

The chef even came to us to make sure we were not ordering too much food (we wanted to try a bunch of different flavours so ordered many small plates) which was good, yes we ordered too much. Definitely going back on the next trip. Do yourself a favour. Throw on the sunday suit and grab some bonza tucker.

The loud music is a mood killer. Instead of a nice and calm restaurant ambiance, one feels like is inside a nightclub. The young men standing outside the restaurant look like troublemakers and the kind that likes to bother girls. Burgers are great, especially the Whopper. Wouldn't recommend the burgers with bacon, 'cause that doesn't taste like bacon at all. Service is good, the place is clean and tidy with toilet and wi-fi available. Again, the loud music though is just too loud.

Timor Post advertise $2 Chicken Crisp Sandwich, Drive in widows includes iem with delicious photo but upon odering Burger King Cashier utters the famously hated lexicon “Habis”, Duh, cover the sign and stop advertising OR plan properly to make happy customer.

It clearly won the be of which fast food restaurant has the most visitors, though surrounded by two other restaurants.

I ate here many times when I visited Dili. A trusted source told me that this fast-food restaurant provides halal food.

Best restaurant in all of Dili, perhaps timor leste, perhaps the world the hot plate was sensational, and hot, there was live music and great vibes. It was so good I went there three nights in a row. The parma was questionable. There were some low hanging fans which may be a hazard to any tall lanky boys swinging their arms wildly. Overall incredible experience

Very tasty and well prepared food, hygiene in top. Very friendly atmosphere and above all a magnificent view of the sunset. Visit everyday in the evenings or in weekends for a great variety of brunch platters. Highly recommendable.

Seaside restaurant near Areia Branca. Setup is cozy and comfortable, the foods are tasty and variety. Both indoor and outdoor seating are available. Operate from 5pm to 10pm on weekday. From 7am to 10pm on weekend.

Metiaut’s hidden gem! L’Aubergine offers fantastic food with very reasonable price. The staffs are attentive and friendly. A big bonus would be the view during sunset!

My review is for hotel & restaurant both. I'm pleased to report an overall very good experience at Katua's! HOTEL: I opted for a simple room at $45/night and was delighted to learn that this included free laundry. In fact, there's a little basket in each room where you put your clothes and later it returns clean and folded. The room was clean and comfortable with good AC, water pressure, TV and new fridge. Water wasn't hot but I didn't mind. RESTAURANT: Free breakfast was fresh and tasty! Coffee was very good. Also had a late lunch of a steak sandwich and some of the soup du jour. They actually made the soup fresh as I could see in the kitchen. Very happy with the food, beverage and service. Will come visit again for sure.

The staff was amazing, super helpful and friendly. The room was poor to say the least, of course when you are in East Timor you have to keep your expectations extremely low - poor facilities, abysmal food and services. The bedroom was 'clean', the bathroom was disgusting. There is a great Portuguese restaurant nearby and within walking distance of the Portuguese grocery store, Pateo and Prato (another great Portuguese restaurant).

Worst coffee I've had in Dili, and the wifi didn't work. Friendly staff tho. Their $2 SariWangi tea with white sugar is a delight.

Found the place to be cosy, price is very reasonable and food portions good. The day we were there the staffs were friendly and enjoyed the food. Would have given the place 4 stars if not for letting us wait almost an hour before food arrived. I believe the food were home cooked style and not ready for too large a crowd.

One of the go-to spots for steak and Western food in Dili. The location is great, with a spacious parking area, which is a big plus. You’ll notice quite a lot of expatriates dining here, and the restaurant accepts Visa and MasterCard for payment. In my opinion, it’s one of the most comfortable dining spots in Dili. They offer a good variety of steaks, along with salads, burgers, and several interesting side dishes. The highlight? Definitely the Picanha – highly recommended!

Amazing Portuguese steaks. Well patronised by the Portuguese speaking community of Dili and I can see why. Lovely restaurant and food on offer. Been here twice and was impressed twice. Restaurant can get a bit hot when filled up otherwise, amazing find.

Prato Steakhouse is easily one of the best places for steak in Dili! The quality of the meat is excellent, cooked to perfection with a great selection of sides. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal. The staff is friendly and attentive, making sure you have everything you need. The pâté and fresh bread are a great way to start, and they have a good selection of wines to pair with your meal. Highly recommend the ribeye. A must-visit for steak lovers in Timor-Leste!

What a wonderful surprise. A classy Portuguese style restaurant, somewhat hidden in the Pateo supermarket area. Next to the gym. Well decorated, delicious food, and very good portion sizes. Easily serves the largest steaks in town, and knows how to cook them deliciously too. The menu is predominantly in Portuguese, but a few items have English subtitles. They do take a credit card, but they charge a fee. I think this is a Fine Place to bring a date.

Delicious steak and good service what more can you want! Interior is a bit like a cafeteria but that’s possibly because we were there at 7.30 and it wasn’t busy yet so it was a bit cavernous. Would definitely go back though. Warning - don’t order more than 2 steaks for three people as portions are big. You can easily share one between two.

So, I was craving for a surf and turf and I thought this place would be the best bet. Wrong. I arrived and it was empty, not a good sign. No surf and turf but I ordered the garlic prawns starter and the rib eye main to come at the same time. It didn't, they also put on the table some bread, butter and pate (I hadn't ordered this, but thought it was complimentary so tried it - not good.) The steak was ok, a little greasy, the side salad was from the 70's. When the bill came I was charged for the bread butter and pate! 54$ total that's about half a monthly minimum wage here. Really not worth the money, didn't appreciate the cheeky add ons and zero atmosphere. Safe to say I won't be rushing back. Shame.

A good place to refresh your appetite with some tasty Thai dishes. We were the only customers that evening, the restaurant is quite empty due to Covid. They have various meals like fried rice, phad thai, and tom yam soup. The price is around $5-15 per portion. Great place for dining with friends as the restaurant is quite big.

Food took more than 20 minutes to arrive. Thai ice tea was far too sweet, and had an odd aftertaste. Tom Yung Kung Soup was on point. 👍 Customer service needs work. Little doggy there is far too attached to new customers - licking my leg etc. Needed help from waiter with this. Would come back for a takeaway.

Authentic Thai food cooked by probably the only real commercial Thai chef left in Dili. The new air contioned green room provides an alternative cooler space to eat for those who do not want the tradioional al fresco restaurant dining space. Food, massage and salon are all still very reputable. They have reinvested and still provide great food. Apparently take away can be delivered ($2 near PK, further field.. $3 plus depends on distance). Good luck (Chok dee!) Thai Herb.

Lovely service. Dishes came out quickly. Som Tum salad was a good size, a little fishy for my taste but delicious and fresh nonetheless. Grilled prawns were fantastic. Vegetarian dishes came with heaps of tofu. Easy to miss though so keep your eyes peeled! Definitely worth the several u turns.

Pad Thai was good and quickly prepared. Massage was overpriced when requested: $25 instead of $20 for 1 hr full body massage as per their massage menu, or they offered to do a shorter version whereas the menu clearly states it is $20 for 1 HR full body massage. A bit disappointed and decided to do it elsewhere.

Great place for good Thai food, a massage and even a haircut. Wonderful lunches for about $10. Nice bar in the evenings. Men's haircuts are $8. Not a bad place for a casual date, but bring some mosquito repellent.

Incredible. If you were walking along the road you would probably walk by, but that would be a mistake! It is authentic Thai, the herbs, the taste, everything is just right. Good prices and very chilled. The only small criticism is, and is the same for everywhere in East Timor and Asia, overuse of straws/plastic......Number 1 in Dili for me so far.

Yesterday, I ordered grilled chicken and salmon pasta. The food was well cooked, not too spicy, with just the right balance. The service was quick and excellent. I’ll order other items from the menu today.

I ordered the butter chicken masala and my wife got the lemon garlic fish filet. Both delicious. Atmosphere was great as we sat overlooking the ocean as the sunset. Will return.

We went here for sushi but saw they had Indian food so ordered the Butter Chicken and Paratha. This was easily the best meal we had in Timor-Leste. The owner is a great guy to talk to also
