Seafood restaurant
The Little Fish Market offers a creative seafood dining experience in an unassuming atmosphere, showcasing regional produce and local artworks. Chef Duncan Ray, formerly of The Fat Duck, emphasizes the use of locally sourced fish from British day boats to ensure unparalleled freshness.
We went there for lunch on a Friday. We had made a booking, but it wouldn't have been necessary. We got the lunch menu, which at £35 per person and the quality of the food is great! They started us off with bread and butter, which was delicious. The bread was sourdough bread, and had a really nice and deep flavor with a sour hint to it. As a starter, we got the ravioli filled with salmon. The pasta itself was nicely cooked, the filling was delicious with the right amount of salmon, and the accompanying sauce acidic to break through the richness of the ravioli. As a main we got the Gilt-Head Bream with gnocchi. The fish was crispy, but its flesh cooked just right, flaky and tender. The gnocchi were light and cloud-like. For dessert we got the cheese, and although it's not a dish that they have made themselves, the Montgomery Cheddar was a nice way to end the meal. Service was impeccable: friendly and at the right pace. Moreover, at the end Chef Duncan himself came up to check on us and see how we enjoyed the meal, which was a nice touch. Next time I visit Brighton I'll try to make a point to try to have dinner at the Little Fish Market.

Amazing food, faultless service, but a shame about the extra non-advertised charge for the fish. My partner and I had dinner here as a special treat for our anniversary, at £85 a head it is not our everyday meal! The food was incredible, special mention to the Thai-inspired Monkfish and the signature 'egg and soldiers'. The service was of a very high standard, with the waitress explaining every course in detail and continuously topping up our wine. The restaurant does feel a little 'cold', (decor and lighting-wise), it could use a few touches to feel a bit more cosy. The wait between courses is fairly long so be ready for that, but we had prepared ourselves for being there for a while as it was a tasting menu and of course it gave us time to chat! However the thing that was disappointing is that we had to pay a supplement for the main fish course that was not advertised anywhere on the website. This varied per fish chosen, but even the cheapest option added an extra £10 per person on top of an already very expensive meal. I think for £85 a head plus service, (total bill £268), this should have been included, or at least advertised to be that way on the website.

Another wonderful evening at the little fish market hove . This was our 3rd visit and we enjoyed it just as much as the previous two . The service as always impeccable, not intrusive at all , friendly, chilled and relaxed yet very attentive. Didn’t catch the name of the lady serving us but she was great . The food was phenomenal, each course carefully crafted individually , the flavours were on point and beautiful presented . We love the fact that the meal isn’t rushed and you have the table for the whole evening. Of course it’s not the cheapest meal but it’s worth every penny for the quality of ingredients and the amount of work that Duncan and his team put in every dish they serve . They have just won the best restaurant in Brighton award , very well deserved too!
Ruth S — Google review
Not our first visit to The Little Fish Market, and it certainly won't be our last. The food has remained consistently good over the years, with faultless fish cookery, delicately balanced flavours, imaginative ingredient combinations and surprisingly delightful amuse bouches! This evening, the highlights for us were the pan fried cod, cured monkfish, and the diminutive but flavour-packed treacle bread. The only slight disappointment was the peanut butter, chocolate and banana dessert, which was a bit too sweet for my liking and not to my partner's taste, but that is more of a personal preference rather than a failing on the chef's part. The service, also, could have been better, with a bit of indifference and brusqueness at first, but things got better as the evening went on. Don't expect a speedy meal here, and the tasting menu will take a good three hours from start to finish, so as long as you're prepared for that, and want to enjoy delicious seafood and fish, without too many bells and whistles in the form of ambience, this is the place for you.
Anu N — Google review
Sadly I was disappointed. This restaurant has been on my bucket list for years, and I was thrilled to finally secure a table during Octoberbest. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. The venue is now very brightly lit — such a shame, as it used to be softly candlelit, which suited the small, intimate space much better. As for the food: my starter of terrine was just about passable, but the main course of braised duck was so salty it was completely inedible. When we mentioned this to the waitress, we were told “it’s supposed to be salty,” which wasn’t exactly the response we were hoping for. Dessert was the highlight — quite nice, but not enough to redeem the meal. With drinks for six of us, the bill came to around £400. I paid begrudgingly, especially as no apology or gesture was offered after our feedback. Sadly, I’d say give this one a miss.

It was a really special meal, super intimate, very friendly with great food and wine. It wasn't all to my taste but was done with real care and attention and very fairly priced!

We’ve visited twice - both for special occasions. The service is great. The quality and presentation of the dishes is exceptional. It’s great to be able to visit nearly a year apart and have a consistent great experience.

I came here to celebrate a birthday and we had a fantastic evening. There’s an added excitement to the fact that everyone is experiencing the same dishes at the same time. Playful, unexpected plates are paced throughout the evening - we stayed for about 3.5 hours but it felt more like 1.5! It was great that the chef came out to speak to us too and present some of the dishes. Would definitely recommend it

Etch by Steven Edwards is a laid-back yet sophisticated dining spot in Brighton, known for its ever-changing tasting menus and trendy ambiance. The restaurant's interior showcases stylish elements like dark blue walls, vibrant orange seats, and modern lighting. Chef Steven Edwards collaborates with local producers to create intricate dishes using the freshest seasonal ingredients from Sussex. The menu features options such as Sussex Trenchmore beef, locally caught scallops, and cherry-filled desserts.
OM life what a wonderful restaurant, by far the best food in Brighton. I applaud this place for its incredible food, hospitality & setting. First of all loved the fact one of us could order a pescatarian tasting menu & one meat. The call back to confirm was much appreciated (it’s the little things that make a difference) The staff all delightful, taking the time to be personable as well as knowledgeable (a balance that a lot of fine dining don’t get right). So before we get to the food, cocktail was delicious, wine not exorbitant & the main event of the food…wonderful, considered & beautifully prepared. This was our first time here but definitely won’t be our last. This restaurant is deservedly mentioned in the Michelin guide. Totally delicious

Sensational. Visited for an anniversary dinner, and we were hugely impressed by the quality of the food. I'm not always a fan of tasting menus, but it was perfectly paced and sized. I love that they're not trying to do anything too weird and wacky with their flavours. The menu consists of incredibly high quality ingredients, accurately seasoned, perfectly cooked, and paired beautifully with other flavours. The chalk stream trout, beef, and chocolate dishes will stay with me for a very long time. Really liked the wine list as well. Some rarer and slightly obscure options, with a great selection by the glass. V v highly recommended.

Absolutely phenomenal! We had the spring tasting menu for our first wedding anniversary and every course was incredible. How this place does not have a star yet amazes me but it can't be far away. By far the best restaurant we have been to in Brighton and we will definitely come again! ~ Max and Emma

Had dinner at Etch on Friday and was blown away by the food. Would highly recommend this restaurant. We had the 7 course tasting menu with Wine Flight. Whilst the wines were good, none of them were noteworthy. 6 out of the 7 dishes were amazing, with only the 1 Guinea dish falling a little under par. Overall was very impressed with the restaurant and would go again.

Having been to Etch before this time we decided on a guest chef evening. We had been to Glynn’s restaurant in Birmingham so it was the perfect pairing. Superb evening began with cocktails in the downstairs cocktail lounge before being escorted to our table. Chefs introduced each course and it was nice to hear both Stephen and Glynn talking about their dishes. High quality ingredients, superb presentation all led to the most exquisite meal. Each dish beautifully styled, tasting divine, perfectly balanced. We didn’t do the wine flight just a couple of glasses of our favourite Nyetimber English Sparkling. Was such a nice evening and both chefs came out throughout the evening to chat to tables and to say goodbye at the end.

Absolutely fantastic vegetarian tasting menu with non-alcoholic drinks pairings. So much thought had gone into the drinks and they really enhanced the experience. Service was friendly and attentive without being stuffy. We didn’t feel that the vegetarian dishes were an after thought. We had a wonderful evening!

Picture perfect dishes that taste just as good as they look! This is the second time we have been here and we would definitely come back. The work that goes into creating each plate is evident in the end result, an absolutely delicious tasting adventure. Excellent service and attention to detail. I would also recommend a pre dinner cocktail in the bar.

I have to admit I never thought of Brighton as a gastronomic spot, nor did I ever wondered what laid beyond the last beachfront food cabana. I even just realised there was a 360 tower attraction 😅 So imagine my surprise when I got invited to dine at etch, a restaurant in the residential area - 10 min drive from the train station. The place, its vibe, the hidden bar and its unusual non-alcoholic menu - LOVED the wine - are worth the visit, even from London! I had no reason to doubt the place, so I didn't check the reviews beforehand. And I'm glad I didn't because the meal was a complete experience that I could enjoy without expectations and with the genuine anticipation the 6-courses discovery menu warranted! I should apologise for whoever is reading this for ruining it for you. You can still close the page. Well since you're still reading, just know that the staff is the most adorable and knowledgeable, the decor is contemporary without being over the top - special mention for the suspensions and the Japanese toilets - and every single dish is a delight. If you get to have a view on the kitchen - with the rather good looking Chef George - that's like a surprise act at a concert. Still here? You seem very curious, so I'm adding a sneakpeek, but really, just go and experience etch the only way it deserves, for yourself with all your senses open.

Wild Flor exudes French bistro chic with its gilded mirrors, classic wine posters, wooden tables, and banquette seating. The restaurant is run by a trio of Hove locals with extensive hospitality experience and offers a menu focused on food and wine. The kitchen operates on a 'good old-fashioned carte' system and sources seasonal ingredients from the chef's allotment.
What an absolutely fantastic place to celebrate an anniversary! ❤️ Wild Flor is just gorgeous - from the friendly greeting at the start of the evening, all the way through to settling the bill, we enjoyed every moment of our time here. The restaurant has a really calming, cosy ambience to it. The staff are so friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and they had even written us a card wishing us a happy anniversary!! So thoughtful 🥹 There is an extensive wine list and a great selection of cocktails - we really enjoyed our glasses of the verdinho and rosé, and the Todoli Margarita we paired with our pudding was zesty, fresh and incredibly strong!! You have been warned 😆 The star of the show at Wild Flor is, of course, the food. We kicked off with the ink battered squid, which was expertly partnered with fennel, saffron, and blood orange. I haven’t had anything like this before - the combination was a bit mind-blowing!! All starters come with delicious sourdough bread and butter, too. We used ours to mop up the saffron sauce 😋 We chose the bavette steak and Chalk Stream trout for our mains, and shared the confit potato side dish, which was crispy and incredibly moreish. The steak was cooked to perfection. If I was being hyper-critical, I would say that the wilted spinach (which somehow seemed to have been cooked very well but still retained its crunch - impressive) was intensely garlic flavoured. I am a massive garlic fan, so not an issue - but even to me it was a little overpowering! My partner really enjoyed the Chalk Stream trout dish - I tried a piece and it was perfectly cooked. We finished up with the aforementioned Margarita and the limequat & coconut ‘key lime pie’. This pudding was sensational - creamy, zesty, and melt-in-the-mouth. We shared the pudding but I wish I had ordered my own one to be honest - I could have eaten 10 😅 Thanks so much for a wonderful evening, Wild Flor - we can’t wait to come back and try many more menus!! ✨

The very BEST! What an awesome experience, the food was absolutely to die for, highly recommend the linguine & crab! The wine was stunning & the staff were brilliant & so friendly. This is our second visit & both times were absolutely perfect. We can’t wait to visit again, if you’re in Brighton do not miss a trip to Wild Flor!
Sam U — Google review
Me and my partner went here after being recommended by a chef I work with and it was fabulous! I tried the lobster special and it was the best lobster I’ve ever had, the potato salad and bisque was insane and everything was ultimately tasty. We also tried the beef croquettes, oysters and prawns for starters which were all delicious and perfectly prepared, my partner absolutely adored the chocolate pot for dessert as well. The wine list is perfect, I had the cheapest vinho verde as wanted to spend more on my food and it was still fantastic. Only thing I wouldn’t recommend was the margarita but that’s just my personal preference (no salt rim, not on the rocks so if you like that then go for it!) Our servers were great too, extremely good service thank you guys!
Iona B — Google review
We had a great meal at Wild Flor. The oysters were super fresh, the prawns were smoky and delicious with plenty of butter and the baked crab was rich and comforting with a crisp topping. Great wine too - will definitely be back!
Jamal ( — Google review
Had the spring 3 course menu for £25 which was great value, added oysters which were from Dorset, gorgeously plump and flavoursome. Delicious and interesting food combinations simply presented and unfussy. Highly recommend the Mutton sausage (pictured). Good service, nice warming interiors. Enjoyed the wines which were recommended. Very solid 4s across the board but lacked a bit of wow factor to push into the 5*

Exceptional restaurant. The set menu was fantastic value. Decor is delightful, ingredients are fresh & the service was top notch. Our server has worked there for a few years and she was very knowledgeable on the menu items.
Alex T — Google review
A thoroughly disappointing and expensive dinner out. The tomato tart was some of the worst pastry we've ever had, dry and absolutely flavourless. The £28 poached trout was really under-seasoned and uninspiring. The starter was strange and expensive and was made with cheap and boring salad leaves. The waitress that evening clearly could tell we weren't content with our food, and to be fair asked clearly cared about that too. The bar staff were also very friendly. I just could never recommend this place to eat, there are so many more creative and flavourful options close by. I'm sorry that it's a challenge as a local restaurant right now but it's just not acceptable to pair this food at this price point. It was about £120-140 in the end for really underwhelming food which, frankly, with the competition is why I'd say go somewhere else.
Joe L — Google review
My husband and I had dinner at Wild Flor and the set 2 course menu. From start to finish the evening was outstanding. Food was exceptional - perfectly flavoured and cooked - trout melted in the mouth and the bavette was mouthwatering. Service was superb and thoughtful, with warmth and humour. Music at just the right level to be in the background, lovely calm feel but not too quiet. We paid £55 each for bread, a starter, main, two sides, a drink and gratuity and felt it was excellent value for the quality of the food. We loved it and will be back.

Best Italian restaurant I’ve experienced in over 10 years living in the UK! 🇮🇹 The pasta is perfectly al dente, the bistecca cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour. And the star of the show? The special dessert, affogato al caramello salato is simply the migliore treat to enjoy even when you think you’re too full. It somehow risveglia il corpo and leaves you smiling 👌 A special grazie mille to our wonderful waitress Alesha, whose friendly service and ospitalità made the whole evening even more memorable 🙌🏼

We went for dinner at Cin Cin, and it was delicious! A lovely atmosphere, with the restaurant packed for the whole time we were there. As a starter my wife and I shared the sourdough focaccia with balsamic and olive oil. The bread was warm, and the balsamic was wonderfully tart. For mains I had the pork rib eye, with braised cannellini beans and agrodolce. It was wonderfully cooked - soft, tender, pork that was perfectly balanced with the sweet/sour agrodulce and the rich, meaty, braising sauce from the cannellini beans. My wife ordered the pappardelle with roasted squash and crispy sage from the Vegan menu, she said it was delicious and the crispy sage was the star of the show. For dessert we went for a special - brioche bread and butter pudding with apple compote and chantilly. It was so good - warm, rich, sweet, and spiced. We paired the dessert with the house-made limoncello which was absolutely ridiculous. The flavour took a few seconds to hit, but it just exploded with sweet and sour lemon that was so fun and delicious. Would absolutely recommend - great food, great service, and well priced for the quality you get.

What a wonderful place. We were lucky enough to sit at the chefs table and the head chef and his team were very friendly and happy to chat to us. It’s fantastic what they produced in a small space which was calm the whole evening. The food was amazing, staff friendly and knowledgeable about the food and wine. We both loved it so much. Well done to a great team and if we were local we would definitely come back. Thanks so much x

Lovely unique menu that changes very often. The staff was very friendly as well. Throughout the meal we did feel a bit rushed and the server reminded us towards the end that they had booked a sitting after us though we had 25mins to go. Overall great food and lovely meal though!

We went to Fourth and Church for our second wedding anniversary (we had our wedding reception at Fourth and Church 2 years ago and also went there the evening we got engaged, so is a very special place for us). Every time we have been, we have a wonderful experience and this time was no exception. We always go for the seasonal set menu. The food was delicious and perfectly prepared and presented, and the service was wonderful. We are always made to feel special and the waiter had a great knowledge of the dishes. Couldn't recommend enough and already looking forward to next time!

Stunning lunch at Fourth and Church yesterday! Five star, fine dining and top notch service.. with a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Great value lunch set menu, nice portion size with gorgeous flavours! Our servers Ruby and Peter really knew their stuff! They were both so attentive and second guessed all our needs, offering great advice on wine and even offering a taster on one we’d commented on. They made our day! And the food was next level too. Chef’s kiss! Well done on all your recent awards! Hugely deserved, we shall be back !!!

The Urchin Brewery & Shellfish Pub in Hove is a charming spot for seafood enthusiasts. With a covered, heated garden and a maritime-themed interior, it offers a unique experience. The pub serves fresh shellfish and hand-crafted beer, with the added bonus of their own mini brewery on-site. The menu features an array of luxurious seafood options such as Jersey rock oysters, potted crab, whole lobsters, and Malaysian king prawns.
Very nice and cosy pub, with food better than your average pub grub! They focus on fish and there are some great dishes with high quality fish on both the classic menu and the constantly changing specials. The flavours were fun and creative, pairing fish with things you don’t see much elsewhere - they do still have the classics too though! The food was indeed very nice, but a little pricey for what you actually got. The oysters were especially good and £2.50 for a plain one isn’t actually that bad! The service was lovely the whole night and we had a very romantic evening :)

Always a great experience at the Urchin! Can’t find any fresher seafood for such affordable prices. Everything is cooked to perfection and served with love. They deffo know their food and you can tell from their wine list and from the flavour combinations they serve. The staff has been lovely everytime I been there, and the sitting area is clean and nicely decorated. Only issue was some stones left in the mussels so they weren’t properly cleaned but that happened only once (yesterday) however they’re forgiven because everything else is 10/10! *chefs kiss*

We were a bit apprehensive walking out here from Brighton due to the distance and it was mainly the brewery aspect that drew us. They had a whole lobster for £38 which honestly seemed like a typo (in Edinburgh we would normally pay >£50) the lobster was phenomenal. The craft beer selection was a little bit disappointing but the food more than made up for it and service was excellent!

Scallop, Squid, 2 x Muscles superb. Local IPA and a glass of Sancerre also taken. All very well looled after. Thank you. We will make time to come back.

Oysters were amazing so fresh but the Paella was such a dissapoinment! Overpowering flavor of fennel, and when we mentioned it to the waitress she just shrugged and said 'well I love fennel'. I also like fennel, but not when it overpowers the rest of the dish. 5 of 6 clams were not open, and my husband had mild food poisoning symptoms within 2 hours of us leaving the restaurant. Such a pity as we love seafood, but we won't be back and will not be recommending

At long last, I made it here and I was not disappointed. Every mouthful was an experience..an explosion of flavour in the mouth. I really enjoyed the crab and the sauce it came in was soo tasty I drank the lot of it! My partner had the mussels which were also so tasty. The oysters were fresh and delightful. Will definitely come again! Highly recommend 👌. Quality food at a great price

The Gingerman is a well-established and intimate modern European restaurant in Brighton, offering fixed-price 2 or 3-course seasonal menus. The menu features a variety of dishes with a hint of Brighton star 64 Degrees, such as mackerel with pickled cucumber and breaded oyster on a muffin, as well as duck liver and heart accompanied by duck nugget with miso glaze and pear.
I had the best night at The Gingerman and now consider it one of the best dining experiences in Brighton. The food was to die for. Though not cheap (except a ridiculously good value prawn to start), it is well worth a visit on a special occasion. The staff and service and ambience created an unforgettable evening that will be difficult to replicate. To start I had snacks salmon tacos and a grilled prawn. Despite the salmon tacos being delicious, the prawn stole the show, being meaty and sweet, and for £3.50 with the seaweed Alioli, I cannot complain. For starters, the bbq squid was the best looking dish of the night, stunning, with perfectly cooked squid, a sauce maybe a touch too sweet, but interesting textures and bold flavours. For mains, the lamb saddle could’ve been cut with a butter knife, paired with some simple but lovely veg, a jus made from the belly and some majorly crispy 100-layer chips, and you’re on to a real winner. The puddings were also solid, and a great way to end a great meal!

My wife and I dined at Gingerman Restaurant, one of our favorite spots over the past few years. This visit marked our fourth time there. While the waitress was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and kind—the overall food experience fell short. Specifically the main course, a steak meal, was underwhelming and lacked flavor. Considering we spent £180, we left feeling disappointed by the food.

Perfect meal at The Gingerman this weekend, with a varied, surprisingly reasonably priced (given the quality), Sunday lunch menu that delivered in every way. The skate wing was perfectly cooked, the roast beef was beautifully tender, and the starters were creative and boasted some really interesting flavour combinations. The service was superb too, friendly, knowledgable, and easygoing. Looking forward to trying their normal menu asap.

Fantastic restaurant. Celebrated my 50th and didn’t disappoint. Great service, great food and nice place to eat. Would highly recommend. A firm favourite over the years of dining here.

Delightful gem of a place in Brighton. Was recommended it by family and it didn’t disappoint. It’s a fairly small place (although can cater for groups) so would advise you book. Had bread to start with a delicious butter. Next round was fish tacos and salted cod fritters. Followed by sea bass for two and I also had some of the lamb. The seabass was perfectly cooked and plenty of it for two. Special shout outs to the complexity and depth of the sauce. The samphire complemented it all perfectly. The lamb looked great and was cooked well. Soft and tender. A soft chew. At one point I had a part with a bit of fat and I almost melted into my seat. So tasty and full of flavour. Service was polite and friendly. I would definitely go again

Arguably the best food I’ve had in Brighton in such a lovely intimate little place. Sam, the front of house/manager/bartender was incredible, doing so much so effortlessly and made us feel so welcome and comfortable. Also, BYOB on Sundays with a corkage - no brainer! Will be back as many times as I possibly can, cheers!

Very expensive and quite intense the way bookings are all at the same time so, you feel you need to get your order in quick. Only stubby cans of locally made beer for £6 a pop.... Bathrooms were excellent. So the food was good - excellent. Menu wasn't explained enough but we worked it out. I think I would recommend it for quality food although, out bill was £170 for 2 without wine!

For the second consecutive year, my wife and I have returned here for a celebration meal. The tasting menu and paired wines are excellent and a real exploration of flavours and textures. As with any tasting menu at a reputable establishment, it's not necessarily cheap, but in my mind, a worthy treat. Food, presentation, and service, all excellent! Well done guys 👏.

Burnt Orange is a stylish restaurant located in The Lanes, Brighton. It offers a monthly tasting menu with global provisions, cocktails, and wine. The interior features burnished orange color notes mixed with exposed flint walls, creating a pleasant ambiance. The restaurant is known for its creative Sunday brunches with live DJs and early evening cocktails. The menu focuses on grilled, slow-cooked, and smoked specialties designed for sharing.
Booked here for a work dinner as a group of 5 while we were stopping over in Brighton. It was incredible! The food was amazing and definitely a highlight of the tour we were doing! Staff were excellent and the food was incredible. Served on smaller plates, we thought it mightn’t be enough but with the level of flavours and richness of each dish, everyone was full. I will definitely go back next time I’m in Brighton.

The Burnt Orange absolutely lived up to the hype. From start to finish the experience was outstanding. The food was next level – every dish had immense flavour, perfectly balanced and cooked with real care. You can tell a lot of thought goes into the menu, because nothing felt standard or predictable, it all had a twist that made it exciting. The restaurant itself is stunning. Beautifully decorated, with a warm and stylish vibe that makes you want to settle in and stay for hours. It manages to feel both polished and relaxed at the same time. The staff deserve a mention too. They were exceptional, super friendly, attentive without hovering, and just really easy to get along with. It honestly felt like being looked after by your mates, which made the night even more enjoyable. And the cocktails… wow!! Every one I tried was mind blowing, both in presentation and taste. Easily some of the best I’ve had in Brighton.

You wonder if its going to be as good as you expect. The experience was a birthday gift from my niece . My wife and I went with moderate expectations but we were really happy with the whole thing. I loved the range of food and the care the staff took to make sure everything was perfect. The multiple dishes provided, solved my normal problem of what to choose on the menu and wanting to try a bit of everything. Just go with a few friends and have a great time

Such a lovely evening at Burnt orange we had the experience menu which was amazing no thought required just sit and enjoy! The cocktails are not for the faint hearted we recommend the bread and butter old fashioned and the roasted pineapple colada. We finished off with the custard tart boom!! The staff here were all welcoming and friendly and the restaurant has such a good vibe we can’t wait to go back x

Everything was perfect! The staff were attentive, fun, knowledgeable and passionate about the menu. The decor and ambience was great, we had a fab table, the food was totally delicious, so much flavour, everything was different but all went together so well and the cocktails were expertly made… and as excellent as that all was it was actually pretty reasonable cost wise too so we were extremely happy customers!

The Flint House, part of Ben McKellar's Gingerman group, is an intimate and stylish restaurant that opened in April 2019. It offers a variety of small plates featuring meat, fish, and veggie options along with cocktails and wine.
The Flint House is an absolute gem — the first restaurant I’ve been to in a long time where every single box is ticked with full marks. The service is faultless: friendly, attentive, and perfectly paced. The drinks list is superb, with thoughtful cocktails and an excellent wine selection. Every dish that came out of the kitchen was beautifully presented and bursting with flavour (highly recommended Sunday lunch). And the ambience? Stylish, relaxed, and effortlessly cool. A 10/10 across the board — highly recommended.

This is a nice restaurant experience, with great service and an interesting menu. We opted for the chefs menu, with wine flight, given it included several of the dishes we were interested in. We sat at the pass to appreciate the experience. The food was good, technically well done with some considered flavours. The portions were probably a little bigger than we required, but the ingredients were of a high standard and the finished product a pleasing result. The setting was nice but not as intimate as other restaurants we have tried. In summary, a nice experience but not necessarily one to repeat.

The food was fab & I loved my Lychee cocktail too! Sitting up on the terrace was very special. Would highly recommend a visit!

This restaurant is a hidden gem, tucked away from the main town centre. The décor blends industrial with classy, offering a spacious upstairs seating area and a terrace for summer dining. Run by the Gingerman group (I remember visiting the Ginger Pig back in 2012), it was just as good. The food was of a consistently good standard, both in quality and presentation. Service was warm, friendly, and efficient. The ambience was relaxed, yet dishes arrived promptly without feeling rushed. With its choice of à la carte small plates or full set menus (with or without wine pairings), I can see this place becoming very popular. I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience here and would happily return—and recommend it to others.

We’ve been wanting to visit for a while, overall it didn’t disappoint. Most of the dishes are absolutely incredible, especially the lamb shoulder, red mullet, rump steak, pork loin, oysters and prawns. Highly recommend the mash and green bean salad as sides. The confit potatoes looked fantastic but could have had a little more seasoning. The mains are a little on the small side but when you are ordering sides to accompany them nobody went hungry! I was slightly disappointed by the puddings which sounded delicious on paper but didn’t really live up to expectation. The drinks were excellent, lovely martini menu and we had a fantastic bottle of primitivo. Service overall was good, our server was helpful and friendly, one of the staff members seemed to had forgotten how to smile but I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Flint House!

There are a lot of restaurants to choose from in the Lanes with excellent reviews. We chose here due to the small plates seeming to priced fairly reasonably. We were not disappointed the steak for £20 was a normal main course size and probably the best steak I've ever had. The mackerel was gorgeous and lamb was incredibly tender. The fact they offer carafes of wine also makes it possible to have a nice wine without blowing the budget.

Without doubt the best restaurant in Brighton, certainly in terms of value. Three courses for £22? Outrageously good. Examples - Beef shin pappardelle to die for, and Oyster tempura simply heaven. A fascinating wine list - and I was allowed to sample a taster of the gorgeous Timorasso before buying a glass. Do please go - it's a revelation and, for me, the best birthday present I've ever rewarded myself

Palmito is a new addition to Brighton's dining scene, having opened in mid-2022. The restaurant offers an intriguing fusion of Ecuadorian and Indian cuisine, with a menu that changes daily. The chefs, who previously worked at the Chilli Pickle in the city center, bring their South Indian and Ecuadorian heritage to create a spice-driven menu cooked on a charcoal grill.
Everything was just AMAZING here! Place was nice and cosy. Service was friendly, dishes were huge on flavours and very delicious, including the Pistachio Tiramisu. Menu changes but the plates we got were the Padron Pepper, Grilled Scallop, Prawn Tacos, Curry Mussels, Oyster Mushroom, Grilled Corn. Can’t wait to be back!

Oh my god this meal !!!! THIS WAS SOO GOOD !!! Every bite was a dream but the best thing (which was so good I ate all of it before I could get a picture of) was their flatbread! Best bite of the night by far I would return just to eat that again. We dined at a restaurant called Palmito and had an incredible experience. The tasting menu was a delight—every single dish we tried was outstanding. Highlights included the Padron peppers, mussels, prawn taco, mezcal, margarita, and the beautifully crafted cocktails. The service was impeccable, warm, and attentive. Everything was perfect from start to finish. We’ll absolutely be returning!

We had been waiting for a year to come to Palmito and it absolutely did not disappoint!! We had a cosy table for two and were immediately attended to by the lovely staff. Starting off with a Mezcalita cocktail we had stuffed padron peppers, Harissa cauliflower and avocado and green bean salad to start. Followed by an incredible cod taco, prawns, lamb skewer and birria tacos to die for. The cheapest white wine on the menu paired perfectly, and we topped off the evening with a rich pistachio tiramisu. We waddled back to the hotel and I am writing this from my bed, content beyond belief.

One of the best meals I’ve had in my life and I’ve eaten at many 1 and 2 star spots. Delicious, creative, seasonal dishes. Pretty huge menu for a small place. We liked it so much, we went back the next night to try more things. Standout dishes were the curry mussels, the leeks with blue cheese, the scallop, and the mushroom tostada. Lovely curated wine and drink lists as well. Once in a while I encounter a restaurant on vacation that causes me physical distress to be separated from. This is one of those. I hope to come back. My only complaint is the noise level when the restaurant is full.

Owned by renowned local chef Ben McKellar, this establishment boasts a lively gastropub serving modern European cuisine. Absolutely loved our anniversary dinner at Ginger Pig in Brighton! We had the rump steak and chicken for mains—both cooked perfectly and full of flavour. For dessert, we shared the roasted apricot with sorbet, which was a refreshing and delicious end to the meal. Our server Lucia made the experience even more special—she was warm, genuine, and incredibly friendly throughout. The atmosphere was cosy yet vibrant, and we felt truly looked after. A memorable night, and we’ll definitely be back!

We stayed here for the weekend as part of our friends wedding in the local area. The room we had was lovely and a well stocked mini bar plus tea and coffee which was great! Also very clean. They serve great cocktails and the Barman Edi was knowledgeable and friendly. We had breakfast here both mornings and the omelette was insane! Hashbrowns were the best I’ve ever had too! The guy who I think was the manager was so helpful and friendly during the entire stay. A lady served us for breakfast on the first day but she seemed like she couldn’t really be bothered with us which was the only negative.

I had a fantastic meal at The Ginger Pig. The pork belly was the highlight — crispy skin, perfectly cooked layers of meat, and a light apple sauce that balanced everything really well. I also loved the use of barley in the dish, which made it even more satisfying. Mary E — Google review
I very rarely leave negative reviews, but my recent experience at The Ginger Pig in Hove was so disappointing that I feel it’s important to share. My partner and I chose The Ginger Pig for a date night, as we’d heard good things and wanted something a little special. Unfortunately, from the moment we sat down, the evening did not live up to expectations. We waited far longer than we should have for our food, and when it eventually arrived, my meal was incorrect. Mistakes can happen, of course, but it’s how a restaurant handles those mistakes that really shows their standard of service—and sadly, this is where The Ginger Pig completely fell short. Rather than offering an immediate apology or a thoughtful solution, the staff simply told me they would prepare another steak. That meant my partner had to eat his meal while it was hot, leaving me sitting with nothing in front of me. By the time my replacement meal finally arrived, he had already finished his, so what should have been a shared dining experience turned into something awkward and frustrating. What struck me most was the lack of care in how the situation was handled. There was no real acknowledgement of the inconvenience until the very end of the meal, and even then, the apology felt like an afterthought. Their “solution” was simply to remove my main course from the bill—which, while practical, hardly made up for the fact that I didn’t actually get to enjoy a meal alongside my partner. A gesture like offering a dessert or a drink would have at least shown some genuine effort to make things right, but instead the response felt transactional and dismissive. For a restaurant that markets itself as a higher-end dining spot, I expected far better service, organisation, and hospitality. Dining out isn’t just about the food—it’s about the whole experience—and ours was completely undermined by poor handling of a very simple mistake. Sadly, The Ginger Pig turned what was supposed to be a lovely date night into a very underwhelming and frustrating evening. I don’t think we’ll be returning, and I certainly couldn’t recommend it to others based on this experience.

Restaurant only review: I visited this place a year or so ago for a couple of Sunday roasts and enjoyed them. However, I recently went for a Friday night meal and found the food to be nice, but not worth the price in my opinion. The portions were quite small. We had the Pork Belly and Cheeseburger. The cheeseburger was nice but as mentioned, it was small. I don’t necessarily mind smaller portions if the food and flavours are exceptional, but I wouldn’t say this is the case. The biggest issue for me was the inclusion of a service charge and a donation to charity on the bill. While the service was good and we were planning to tip anyway, I believe it’s more of a principle issue for me. I don’t agree with the idea of these charges being included on the bill. Yes, we could ask for them to be removed, but it just makes the experience awkward.

I had a wonderful experience at the restaurant! The staff was friendly and attentive, making us feel very welcome. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxing meal. I look forward to returning soon!

A Hidden Gem in Hove – The Ginger Pig Bar We stayed at the Ginger Pig cottages for several nights and found ourselves drawn to the bar each evening—what a delight! Billy the bartender made every visit memorable with his warm energy, great conversation, and impeccable cocktails. The Blushing Gimlet in particular was one of the most delicious drinks I’ve ever had—perfectly balanced, subtly floral, and absolutely refreshing. The bar snacks were equally impressive. My husband couldn’t stop raving about the Guinness Rarebit, calling it “chef’s kiss,” and I have to agree—it’s comfort food with a gourmet twist. If you’re staying in Hove or even just passing through, make a point to stop by the Ginger Pig bar. It’s cozy, stylish, and the kind of place that makes you want to become a regular.

Didn’t plan to shoot — just to sit and work. But then Plateau happened. A bluish-green facade with tiled charm pulled me in. Brick walls, a black mosaic bar, warm orange lighting from oversized lamps… the kind of space that quietly asks to be photographed. The ginger lady behind the bar welcomed me with a smile, and that set the tone — this place feels kind. Eventually, I closed the laptop and opened the lens. Couldn’t resist.

Absolutely loved our dinner at Plateau. We both went for the lamb rump – perfectly cooked, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. Located on Preston Street, Bincho Yakitori is a Japanese izakaya that draws inspiration from the casual dining spots in downtown Tokyo. The restaurant offers a relaxed atmosphere and a menu designed for sharing, featuring dishes grilled over natural fire with simple flavors. Chef David Miney's expertise, gained from living in Japan and cooking in Tokyo for three years, shines through signature items like kara fried chicken, pork belly, and chicken skin skewers.
If you hate amazing food, wonderful staff and fantastic atmosphere then do not come. Here, you will find a refined menu with flavours you will go to bed and dream about. We sat at the kitchen bar and had the most fantastic experience. The Korean cucumber and pork belly yakatori are essential. Chicken skins a regular favourite also.. I recommend booking the next table you can (be prepared to wait a few weeks) and tell all. Your friends. A true gem in Brighton emerging foodie culture.

I had a wonderful experience at this cozy restaurant. The atmosphere was perfect with dimmed lighting that made it feel intimate, even though we were seated at the bar. The service was excellent—welcoming, friendly, and efficient. We didn’t wait long for our food, and the pacing of the dishes was spot on, with plenty of space on the table despite ordering a lot. The wine we started with set the tone for the meal, and the food was amazing. The pork belly skewers were a standout, melting in my mouth. I left feeling full and satisfied, but not overly heavy. We finished with a smooth Japanese whisky, a perfect end to the meal. For the quality of food, drink, and service, the price was great value. I’ll definitely return if I’m ever in Brighton again. Highly recommended!

Brunch restaurant
Oeuf Café in Hove is a charming spot with a picturesque entrance on Third Avenue. The café is renowned for its lavish brunch offerings and delightful pastel-Parisian decor. Their menu features an array of delectable dishes, including perfectly poached eggs on fresh sourdough with various toppings, signature FrumpetsTM (French toast crumpets), classic brunch options, syrupy pancakes and waffles, as well as comforting porridge and bacon sandwiches.
This was my second visit to Oeuf, and just as last time it was absolutely phenomenal. We decided to chance a walk in on a Saturday, despite the garden being closed this weekend we were sat at a table on the terrace within 15 minutes of our arrival. All of the staff who greeted us were friendly, warm and welcoming. Our server, Pippa, was so patient, didn’t rush us to order despite the evident busyness of the restaurant. She also Took time to explain the components of each dish and was very aware of dietary requirements which made us feel very safe. Overall, it was a fabulous experience and I would highly recommend Oeuf to anyone looking for a glamorous and accommodating brunch spot in Hove.

We chose Oeuf for brunch based on its great reputation, and it definitely lived up to the hype. The cafe has a beautiful, inviting atmosphere and the decorations are a nice touch. The staff were all so welcoming and attentive, and the brunch itself was absolutely delicious. The green smoothie was a definite highlight. If you want a more relaxed experience, I'd suggest booking your visit for after 1:30 PM to avoid the busiest rush.

I came to this cafe because it had a good rating and looked very cute. I ended up waiting for my order for more than an hour. Before that, I had discussed with the waitress that I don’t eat onion at all and asked her to make sure there would be none. She even joked that she doesn’t like onion either. But after an hour they brought me food completely covered in onions. Since I was already starving and hadn’t eaten anything that morning, I just gave up. I pushed the onion aside as best as I could, but the taste was still there and unpleasant. I also ordered tea, which they completely forgot to bring. So in the end, I just had my onion-flavored breakfast and left. And it wasn’t even that busy inside. So, if you don’t mind waiting, the place is really cute, cozy, and the staff is friendly. But if you’re really hungry, I wouldn’t recommend eating here.

Nestled in the heart of Brighton, Oeuf Cafe is a brunch lover's paradise that truly lives up to the hype. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with a cozy atmosphere and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. The menu is a delightful mix of classic brunch staples and innovative creations, all made with locally sourced ingredients. What sets Oeuf apart is their attention to detail. Each dish is beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The eggs are perfectly cooked, the pancakes are fluffy, and the avocado toast is elevated to an art form. Whether you're a fan of sweet or savory, there's something for everyone. The service is friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home. While it can get busy during peak hours, the wait is well worth it. Oeuf Cafe is a must-visit spot for anyone looking for a memorable brunch experience in Brighton.

Not only stylish and beautifully decorated, but genuinely well-made and delicious food as well. The eggs benedict was full of flavour and layered textures, and the baked beans had that lovely homemade feeling to them. Absolutely worth the wait time (about 20 minutes or so on a late Saturday afternoon). Highly recommend!

Really loved our brunch here. We chose the seasonal specials - tarte tartin French toast and basque cheesecake French toast sandwich. Both delicious and the drinks were great too - latte and apple pie chai ☕️. Such a lovely setting too, and the little shop in the entrance with dried flowers and cards is adorable. Have recommended already!

What a fantastic place! The food was epic and it all tasted and looked amazing. The pork belly, frumpets, hash browns and butterscotch coffees were all huge highlights. Thank you to Corrina our super server

Such a lovely lunch here today. Poached eggs with crab and crayfish tail. Divine. Perfect Bloody Mary too. And the staff were WONDERFUL. Said on the booking we have a large dog and they kindly seated us in the corner which gave her more room. Brought her a bowl of water and she had a dog sausage for her lunch!

The Chilli Pickle is a vibrant Indian restaurant located on Jubilee Street in Brighton. It has gained a reputation for serving exciting and authentic Indian cuisine, earning its place as one of the top 100 restaurants in the UK. The restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring street food-inspired dishes, regional curries, and grand thalis. With its bright and expansive premises, The Chilli Pickle welcomes diners with an explosion of color and tantalizing aromas.
Probably my favourite Indian restaurant. Hadn't been in several years but made the trip to Brighton today simply because we missed it. Food is still excellent and the customer service was brilliant. Toilets actually quite pleasant too. Love it there!

This was my first visit. Restaurant is well prep and given a good old and new mix continental interior. You will probably hear Indian 60s/70s/80s songs. It makes this place unique and good with experience. My table were given two rice when I only ordered one. I reminded and they took one back. The service boy brought up some dishes and also once a drink which was not ordered. Food is overpriced all the main dishes. The portion sizes are also small. Be careful, this places prices are very high and you probably eat same food elsewhere less than 50% of price. Wasn’t mentioned service charges at beginning Toilets available To find a parking 🅿️

Chilli Pickle has earned a permanent spot on our list of favourite Brighton restaurants. Their lunch-time thali is a celebration of bold spices and fresh ingredients, delivering a perfectly balanced feast in every tray. The new venue tucked away in the Lanes is equally impressive. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick lunch or settling in for an evening meal, this spot never disappoints.

Was really excited to go back to chilli pickle after they moved to their new location. The place was very busy the Friday night we went and had a really great atmosphere. Service was friendly and really good. I was just a little disappointed in the food compared to what I'd had previously when I visited. We started with samosas and chicken wings. The pastry was so thick on samosa that it was really dry, the deep fried wings coating was just falling off and was not very tasty. The mains were better, especially the ox tail curry which was superb and the chicken byriani was also good. The black lentil dish though was very stodgy nothing like the same dish you get at the permit rooms which is smooth and unctuous. So overall disappointing as I know this place has been much much better from a food perspective. I think I might need to come back and try again, maybe it was just an off day.

Our first visit to Chilli Pickle on Saturday.Despite being extremely busy the service was excellent and very friendly. We had a lovely table on the terrace and the food was absolutely amazing. Definitely will return when next in The Lanes. Highly Recommend

The Oxtail Madras was fantastic and falls off the bone. Two of the naans were soft and a nice addition. The duck curry had lovely flavour. Loved the boozy Lassi cocktail. Thanks to the wonderful team who supported us with our reservation and order on the night!
Zara K — Google review
Long story short: £84 for mediocre food for 2 people. Slow service. Save your money and go elsewhere. We came in on a Saturday, near the end of lunch service. It was a little busy but nowhere near full. Service was sluggish and food took around 40 minutes to arrive. We ordered sambal wings (£9 for 3), aubergine curry (£18 set lunch) and lamb chops (£25 for 3), plus a mango margarita and a negroni. Wings: crazily overpriced and underwhelming. Sambal flavour was barely there, and 3 wings is a strange portion to share. Aubergine curry: stodgy sauce, little depth of flavour. Lamb chops: the biggest disappointment. Overcooked to grey in the middle. Sad because you can tell it was good quality meat - still somewhat soft despite overcooked. Spices didn’t come through, and the sizzler plate left them dry (maybe rethink if you can't get the cooking right?). At £25, that’s unforgivable. By the time the food arrived, we’d already been waiting too long to send them back. In hindsight, we should have, but heyho you live and learn. Overall, a very expensive miss.

Had a great experience!! Our waiter George was very attentive, was never without a drink! The boozy lassi was a hit with the table, and the veggie set menu was so rich and tasty, and a lot of food!

Such a fantastic restaurant, the last time I visited was about 15 years ago when I lived in Brighton , so I had to stop by for lunch while I was in the area and it was every bit as good as I remember. If only you would open up in Manchester 🙏🏼. Exceptional, fresh produce , great staff, I love everything about this place.

An absolute gem in Brighton! The seafood was out of this world every bite fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The oysters and scallops? Perfection. But what truly made the experience unforgettable were the charismatic waiters who turned our lunch into full-on entertainment. Great energy, witty banter, and top-notch service from start to finish. If you’re in Brighton and want more than just a meal - go here. You’ll leave with a full belly and a big smile.

A nice restaurant can delight the trip! The hot seafood well cooked just medium raw. The waiters are social. Thanks for offer us the table tonight. Highly recommended. Will come again definitely!
Jessica W — Google review
The rating should be 4.5 rather than 4. The only reason for it not being 5 was the portion of my fish dish as explained in the review below. The overall experience was outstanding. My friends and I decided to to go to Brighton for lunch. As I am Gluten Free it takes ages to find Gluten Free restaurants. I finally narrowed down 2 Sushi restaurants. When we reached there 1 of the 3 of us decided they didn't feel like Sushi 😐 and preferred local sea food being in Brighton; which in hindsight was a good call as we had a fantastic meal at Riddle & Finns. We googled Sea food restaurants and Riddle & Finns showed up. I knew it was pricey so had omitted it from my selection but since everyone was hungry we decided to take a look. When we went in it was busy but because they had a 4 course set menu for 35 pounds and the food smelt divine we decided to eat there. They had a separate Gluten Free menu which was great and were very particular about food allergy. We started with a bread basket with Mackerel Pate, Taramasalata and horse radish sauce. When they brought it and I asked if they had some GF bread, they whisked it away and brought another one with Gluten free Blinis as the bread was in the tray with the Pate and so they didn't want to risk cross contamination. The Pate was so delicious we were wondering whether to get another round! My friends got the seafood platter as a main which was 75 pounds minimum 2 people. They said it was very good with scallops, oysters, mussels, prawns & Octopus. I had the #Gluten Free Smoked Haddock fillet on a bed of Colcannon, with poached egg, Prosciutto and Champagne sauce. The Sauce was delicious, the fish very fresh BUT the fish was wafer thin. It was most likely sliced horizontally as no fish is that thin. For 29 pounds I didn't expect to eat more potatoes than fish! This was my only complaint hence the 4 star rating. I expected a chunky piece of fish. There was an offer on the Negronis for 5 pounds each and 1 round Free if you join their membership. The Negroni was served in a really small glass hence the 5 pounds but was well made. The other 2 finished with a beautiful looking dessert platter that they said was yummy but unfortunately the only #GF dessert was a truffle or Ice cream. When I tried to pick a truffle off the plate from the side without the Gluten, Dave the server said he'd bring me a fresh truffle if I wanted and not to take a chance as he took allergies very seriously. Dave rocks! He took such good care of my Gluten Free requirements. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for good sea food, good service and a lovely atmosphere with candles on the table too 😃 Big shout out to our server Dave for his fantastic service.

Amazing special of scallops in a chicken butter sauce was the standout for me. I also had lemon sole with samphire sauce and heritage tomatoes and optional extra of burrata which was very nice. Very good unobtrusive service in very nice surroundings in the jewellery quarter. Place for a treat/special occasion. Service included.

We sat outside on a rainy day as we had our dog with us but it’s not a dog friendly resturant. The food is delicious but it’s quite pricey. We would definitely come back for special occasions.

Special chef's edit until 7pm with a choice of 4 different dishes (different prices for how many you choose), great value to taste different foods. I had the miso squid soup (delicious) and sashimi special, excellent seasoning for £25. Before, I took the bread basket, £6, for makerel paté and tamara. Service nice, attractive surroundings.

Rockwater Hove is a trendy beachfront destination in Brighton, offering a relaxed atmosphere and delicious meals. Located in the heart of Hove, it features two restaurants - a Bar and Kitchen and a Roof Terrace with stunning views. The venue is perfect for enjoying cocktails during sunset. With an extensive menu including pizzas, burgers, and healthy bowls, the Bar and Kitchen is an ideal spot to start your visit.
Popped in for the Easter Sunday roast. Service was great, staff were really friendly and attentive. Atmosphere is excellent with sea views as the building is as close to beachfront as you can get. Great place to meet friends, have a drink and enjoy life. The food was probably the only downer here. Portions were generous, but my lamb roast was over-cooked (super chewy) and the meals were generally dry (not enough gravy). We chose not to have dessert because the mains disappointed. 8/10 recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Rockwater Bar and Grill. The food was amazing all the service staff were friendly and tended to our every need. I made a request to make my wife’s birthday extra special and they went above and beyond. I live 250 miles away but be sure the next time I’m in Brighton I’ll be back!! Rock on Rockwater!!

We had an absolutely lovely family experience at Rockwater in Hove! Tim was such a kind and welcoming host, and really took care of us when we arrived and throughout. The food was absolutely excellent; by far and away the best fresh seafood dishes we’ve had in the area, all prepared fantastically. The views and atmosphere were lovely, too! We’ve visited in the past, and will definitely be back! Highly recommended! Thank you Tim and team for a wonderful evening!

We celebrated my mother’s 80th birthday at Rockwater and couldn’t have asked for a more perfect evening. The staff gave us a beautiful table in a quieter zone, which was ideal for my mother who wears hearing aids—such a thoughtful touch. The food was absolutely excellent. My mum and dad both had the fish and chips, which they loved, and I had the steak. The chips were so delicious I ended up stealing them from three other plates—I just couldn’t get enough! For dessert, the mango sorbet was a standout: intensely flavourful, refreshing, and a true delight to end the meal. Special mention must go to our waitress Vicky, who was incredibly attentive throughout the evening, and Daniel, who helped serve our food with charm and humour—he really added to the celebration. Rockwater was the perfect setting to celebrate a milestone birthday, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food, thoughtful service, and a memorable experience

The oysters are delicious! The place is beautiful, but we waited so long... It seemed like they went to catch those oysters for us😂 I was also a little upset by the menu for children, I didn't really like it, it looked like it came from a shop. In general, everything is not bad.
L L — Google review
Nice looking restaurant with a good view but was quite disappointed by the gluten free options, found out after ordering a gluten free burger that they couldn’t do it gluten free, was offered a salad instead which came with less food than the gluten option but cost the same. Similar with desert, the “gluten free” pudding had something removed to make it actually gluten free despite the menu saying it was gluten free rather than something that would be adapted to be made gluten free. The desert itself was quite unpleasant as the poached pear was really hard and the honeycomb was burnt. Similar issue with the salad I had as my main which was incredibly acidic. Overpriced and staff didn’t really check on our food so we didn’t get to comment until we were done. I’d come back for drinks but that’s all.

Excellent dinner with fabulous views. We were walk-ins and Lindsey, our maitre'd kindly gave us a table overlooking the beach and gave us excellent service, he was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Wine was a little pricey byt was excellent. Lovely venue and decor as well.

Went for my friend’s birthday drinks on the terrace & had the most amazing cocktails/food! Started off with some chilli margs & sampled some of the new startets off the summer menu - delicious! Cannot recommend this place enough for any occasion!

Hove Place is a charming wood-panelled pub in Hove, featuring a blend of modern and classic elements. The highlight of this establishment is its mature gardens, reminiscent of an Italian oasis with secluded tree-lined spaces, sunny alcoves, and covered sofas. The venue offers a great selection of gin and a delectable food menu served from midday to 10:00 pm.
Thank you Hove Place for a wonderful Christmas lunch! Here goes a gushing review… Today my partner and I had booked in for Christmas Day lunch and it didn’t disappoint. We thought the £145 price per person was a bit steep (especially as there was a £6 supplement on the steak), but we’ve eaten in there before so we were confident it wouldn’t disappoint, and it didn’t! Firstly, we were greeted warmly by all of the staff, I thought they might be a little jaded after the first lunch sitting, but they were all full of energy and festive cheer. We enjoyed every single course; I loved my venison starter and the Christmas pudding dessert. We both agreed that the turkey was the best we’ve both ever eaten. Neither of us are huge turkey fans and I only eat it once a year at Christmas and generally regret it. We were served one thick slice of turkey each, in a stack with stuffing and a Yorkshire pudding, so we both anticipated to experience a mouthful of dry meat. How wrong we were; it was succulent and moist (yes I said that word). The food came out a good pace and the service from the lovely Courtney, our waitress, was great. The ambience of the pub is perfect for Christmas so we’re definitely going back again.

Popped in on a recommendation for the Sunday roast, we had the 3 meat option. The lamb was amazing, also the pork but the beef was rather poor being tough and chewy. Great selection of fresh vegetables with a couple of puréed options on the side. Good choice of beers and wines, a little difficult to find but well worth the effort. Plenty of parking nearby with friendly staff what's not to like. Hidden gem

Love it here. The staff are so warm, welcoming and friendly. The food is excellent! I’ve been here 4 times over 6 months and it’s been outstanding every time. Everything is cooked fresh, with quality ingredients and perfect seasoning. Nothing needs to be added or taken away, I highly recommend! The atmosphere, music and overall vibe are great too 😄

Terrible service and food was tasteless, dry and cold. And we waited over an hour for food till we had to ask whats going on as other tables who came much later then us got served before us. Never got any apology. We still paid £168 between 4 for the privilege and I had to tell the server how poor it was and he just said oh well I'll feed that back! It's not good enough!! Could be such a nice place but need to sort out their service and food quality.

Came here for a Sunday Roast and was not disappointed. The Yorkshire puddings were absolutely huge! They benefit from a gorgeous outside space which is lovely when the sun's out, and the place has a really nice atmosphere in general. Been back a few times just for drinks but didn't hesitate to bring family here for dinner when they were down to visit.

We wandered in on the off-chance on Sunday 30th June. A hot day. Despite not having booked we were made most welcome and given a shady seat in the really beautiful, calm garden area. Our dog was also welcome. We didn't want a roast dinner, so opted to share a starter washed down with a couple of beers. The service was EXCELLENT. Staff anticipating needs (ashtray, water bowl for the many dogs, umbrellas to provide shade). The most noticeable thing was that the staff seemed happy, they knew what they were doing, confident and not brow beaten. A really excellent experience. Thank you.
Heather E — Google review
We've eaten here many times and the food has always been excellent- this time, not so. Tempted by reviews we decided to go for the first time for Sunday Roast. What a disappointment! 'Medium' beef was quite 'done' and in one thick and untrimmed slice accompanied by a small burnt Yorkshire. Vegetables were passable but the tragedy was the (sacred) impenetrable 'roast' potatoes.....these were mummified to the state where neither a knife or a fork could cut them. At £22 a plate a real steal- but not by me- by them. Lesson learnt 🙂
Lesley B — Google review
We went during Friday lunchtime. We stood at the bar for a good 5 mins until someone came to us. The garden atmosphere is great, but the food was really mediocre. The fish and peas were quite tasteless, and the chips were either not cooked enough or had green bits in them. The vegan polenta burger was much better.

I'd been so looking forward to this meal after reading the news and reviews on The Market. We hadn't booked, it was a Thursday night 7.45pm and the lady on the phone during the week advised booking wasn't probably necessary. My guest and I walked in 7.45. Instantly I was asked if I'd booked and I said no. More than half the restaurant was empty. Turned out to be the "manager" NOT "owner"....advised me there may be no room as he was waiting ob people that had booked and in any case he said, he didn't have enough menu's??? I pointed at a space and said can't we just sit there. He said no, because people may arrive. !! I said when?? 8pm..8.30pm?? When are they booked? He seemed flummoxed and couldn't answer that one. Strangely and begrudgingly he took us over to the said table and said I can only give you one menu. Well firstly that's not a problem at all. He left menu and drinks menu with us and was back with us in minutes! I said we don't know what we want yet but we'll order drinks. There was a Rosè and Orange wine that I'd never heard of and he condescendinly said, "haven't you been to Spain!?" I said yes and asked him where he was from. Poland he replied. We chose food, he was frosty, rude and certainly not management material. Long story short. When we paid our bill I told him there'd be no 12.5% tip on there. Told him everything I've written here ( so I'm not doing this anonymously). And he retorted..." well actually when you walked in, I had made the decision close early and not take anymore customers after 8pm". He never said that to me at the door when entering. And I said does the OWNER know that YOU decide to turn away clients and cash on your own back. Our bill was £85 and he decided obviously that the owner doesn't need it! Appalling service, food ok, but I'd never return there just because the morals and the lack of personality and professionalism of this one individual!!

Roberto & Lucca's food is always amazing! I've tried many pasta dishes here over the past couple of years & it never fails to amaze & surprise in a good way. The service is first class, the restaurant is comfortable & the Aperol Spritz is the best I've ever had (I've had many all over the world) My girlfriend had the spaghetti carbonara tonight & I had the smoked salmon gnocchi (see the pictures) & both were incredibly tasty & decent sized portions. We shared the pistacchio cheesecake for dessert & it was soft, moist & creamy. I can't recommend Semola highly enough if you want an incredible food experience. Booking is essential as they are always busy due to their high ratings.

One of the best Italian restaurants I have ever been to! My partner and I visited Semola to celebrate my passing my PhD viva and it did not disappoint. From the excellent customer service from both front of house and kitchen staff to the incredible food we LOVED it! It was also extremely well priced. I had a special which was pesto and potato lasagne, whilst my partner had the seafood linguine. We also started with one of the sharing platters which I couldn’t recommend more! My only regret is that I was too full to try their desserts. I recommend booking as it’s extremely popular! Can’t wait to visit again!

Absolutely amazing food atmosphere and service, having spent a lot of time in Italy this place is so authentic. It has to be up there with the best Italian food I’ve ever had. The prices are very reasonable and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. The food is to die for. I will definitely be back. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Absolutely amazing. Words cannot describe the atmosphere or food. The chef personally greets you and gives you the specials, and they remember and recognise you if you are a regular. The waiter will listen if you want the door open/ closed or a fan on/ off. Calming music, white table clothes, and fabric napkins. Booking highly recommended as it is small and no time limit on how long you can stay in a small group- if there is another similar sized booking then you are warned.

We don’t usually leave Google reviews, but Semola truly deserves one. My partner and I have lived here for a while and only just tried it — we wish we had sooner! The food was incredibly authentic and absolutely delicious, and the service was just as genuine and special. On top of that, the value for money was excellent. Semola has now become our favourite Italian restaurant in Brighton & Hove, and we can’t recommend it highly enough.

Great food, great service and great value for money! I’m so sorry to the waitress that I forgot to give a tip, I completely wasn’t paying attention! I’ll definitely come back again, bring more people and give a tip next time!

We went there for dinner (twice already 😊), had a lovely time. Sharing a bunch of starters is a great way to get to experience some of their exceptional dishes, before delving into the hearty mains. My impression was that this is a crossover between a contemporary, fine dining experience - well rooted in authentic Greek cuisine. Dishes are creative, beautifully plated and absolutely delicious!

Filipa provided catering for a hen party in Brighton this weekend and the food was incredible! She was responsive from the point of contact and catered for all dietary needs. When she arrived she set it up for us and provided labels with dietary signs on. I could not fault her service and next time I am in Brighton/Hove I look forward to dining in at the restaurant!

Nostos catered our event. They are friendly and super easy to work with, and the food was delicious. THANK YOU!

Nostos has an authentic Greek feel, great music and atmosphere. Food is really good and they could cater easily for my gluten free diet. They also welcomed our dog which was a bonus. This restaurant is surrounded by very good restaurants but this is the top choice for us. We could actually watch the sun set from our table inside the restaurant. Service was exceptionally good. I can't fault it!

A Greek Culinary Experience with Soul Nostos isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a full experience. Every visit feels like a mini trip to Greece, with beautiful dishes that are both authentic and elevated. From the tender souvlaki to the fresh Greek salads and indulgent desserts, everything is made with love and attention to detail. The service is warm, the setting is stylish but welcoming, and the team make you feel like part of the family. I especially appreciate how Nostos celebrates Greek culture—not only through its food but also through community events and its genuine hospitality. Whether you’re a local or visiting Brighton, Nostos is an absolute must. Come hungry, leave happy, and probably dancing if it’s one of their themed nights!

Visited Nostos for lunch and wasn't disappointed. It's a nice little restaurant very light and airy. The person serving us was very friendly. They had a small kids menu which was nice as we wouldn't have been able to eat here if they didn't. The food was great & we all enjoyed our dishes. Between us we ordered: Meatballs and chips (from the kids menu) Taztiki and bread Giaourtlou (meatballs in a tomato sauce with a yoghurt on bread) - starter Back to the (Beet) root salad Pork Suvlucky (Souvlaki) As previously mentioned all the food was really tasty and the little one polished his off too. It all tasted fresh and left us full up but not in a gross was that you sometimes experience. I Would recommend this restaurant and I imagine it's a really nice atmosphere in the evening.

Very good mains and deserts. Just a little let down by the starter of hummus which seemed very ordinary served with pitta bread which was oily. The service, aided by a very friendly waitress, was excellent.

Brunch restaurant
Jo & Co Restaurant in Hove is a bright and stylish eatery that offers a Mediterranean-inspired menu with a focus on brunch and vegetarian options. The restaurant opens at 12pm, serving an array of delightful salads, sandwiches, mains, and sharers for lunch. Located just five minutes away from Grand Avenue, it's an ideal spot for a delicious and innovative brunch experience featuring traditional breakfast items as well as unique dishes like shakshuka eggs and toasted banana bread.
A lovely gem of a place. Brilliant food, tasty and well presented. Excellent service and fab decor and atmosphere. Not often you feel 100% satisfied with a meal out. We used First Table as well which saved us £40 off the food bill. Highly recommended.
Nick C — Google review
Pretty average place. Decor is lovely, the place is clean and the food is nice. I had the shakshouka which was good, wish the eggs weren't as cooked through though. Staff could be more attentive, the woman who greeted me at the door wasn't particularly friendly and there was a mix up with a gluten free meal, which I understand as everyone is human, but could have gone wrong with allergies. Overall, nice but very average brunch spot.

Love the Rosemary water Great chai latte and kids loved the hot chocolate. Food was delicious 😋 and well presented, frest and full of flavour. Highly recommend the veggie breakfast. Like their 4 item breakfast, it offers great choice for a smaller plate. Would definitely come back! Staff were attentive and helpful. Wish I could have squeezed in waffles and a smoothie; they looked delicious!

We reserved the mezzanine level for 25 people for a birthday party. Everything was organised so well by Jo and her team. We found the whole experience very easy and they were very accommodating. From menu choices, allergy requests and even a seating plan. Our guests commented about how lovely area looked and how good the food was. The service was so good, I really thought it was exceptional. I'm so glad we decided to have our party there, we were not disappointed.

Great food, loads of veggie and vegan options too. The service was 10/10 from young Pete, he even brought out sun cream as we sat outside and it was a super sunny morning. Also very dog friendly. Highly recommended

100/10 This place is bonkers good! Service is exceptional, the food is delish (Cornbread Fritter things are ridiculously good!), atmosphere is lush, and its super family friendly. One of my fav spots in Hove full stop!
Brittany H — Google review
I really wanted to like this place based on the positive reviews, but the experience was underwhelming. From the start, service felt inattentive. Several waitresses walked past me while I was clearly waiting to order, menu in hand, without acknowledging me. When I eventually asked to order, the waitress responded with what seemed like irritation. She walked away before returning to take my order - still without a hello or any basic greeting, which felt disappointing. I ordered the veggie brunch and removed a couple of items, but what I received was poor. The spinach was dry, the flat mushroom was half a portion and deep fried with no seasoning, and the scrambled eggs were so salty I couldn’t eat them, along with literally a tablespoon of avocado smash. Most of the plate was deep-fried - hash browns, fritters - and no one checked in to ask how the food was. The plate was later cleared with a noticeable amount of food left, and again, no questions. Plate was £16 and not worth it at all. I struggled to get the waitresses attention to get my bill and pay and when I did I was met with a stone face. Sigh. I don’t usually leave reviews and try to give the hospitality sector especially independent eateries, grace but I felt compelled to share my experience. I think it’s safe to say, I won’t be returning.

Embers is a new addition to the vibrant food scene in Brighton, located in the heart of the historic Lanes. The restaurant offers a warm and inviting atmosphere with an open kitchen where everything is cooked over an open wood fire. The menu is designed for sharing and features faultless small plates cooked over fire, accompanied by creative cocktails. Despite being relatively new, Embers has quickly become a favorite among diners for its thoughtful and flavorful dishes.
We had a great evening at Embers. We were served by Lyndon and his co workers who we didn’t catch their names, were all super friendly, helpful and knew their stuff when it came to food and drink. They gave us some great recommendations and made the whole experience really easy. The food was really tasty, rich as you’d expect from wood-fired cooking, and everything looked amazing when it came out. Portions were generous without being over the top, and the prices felt fair for the quality. The place itself has a lovely atmosphere, done out really nicely inside. Feels like somewhere you could sip wine all night. Overall, a really enjoyable night and I will definitely be going back.

Embers in Brighton is an absolute gem! The food is simply outstanding – the sirloin cooked over the fire was tender, full of flavour, and perfectly paired with their unique savoy cabbage, which was smoky, rich, and unlike anything I’ve tried before. The cocktails are just as impressive – creative, well-balanced, and beautifully presented. I loved the whole experience of sitting with a view of the chefs cooking over the flames, which made the evening feel warm and special. The interior is stylish yet cosy, perfectly matching the vibrant atmosphere. Definitely a must-visit in Brighton!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! We visited Embers for our 2nd wedding anniversary with our Hungarian Viszla girl (they are super dog friendly). The evening was perfect. EMMA our waitress was fantastic from start to finish. Chatting us through the menu and looking after us. So helpful, service was great and chatty throughout service. We ordered the set menu - the food was amazing! Everything was delicious. We also want to give a shout out to VALERIE in charge of the bar. Her cocktails and knowledge of drinks were amazing. We had a fabulous evening & this place is so worth a visit. We can’t recommend more.

After eating at Issac’s 10 years ago when visiting Brighton, we had to try his current venture upon our return. We were certainly not disappointed! It was excellent. The food was exceptional, so full of flavour. We loved the cocktails (some of the best we’ve ever had - the Mai Tai really stood out) and the atmosphere and staff were fantastic. It was our honeymoon and the staff all congratulated us too, which was really sweet.

The food speaks for itself. We agreed that the star of the show was the beetroot salad. Full of flavours, char, nut, earthy. I could have just had a huge portion and left fully satisfied. T bone steak to share was tender. Bulgarian Chardonnay was not bad either. Service was not tardy and had a good friendly flow.

No words to describe this place other than, phenomenal. Quite possibly the best Sunday roast served in Brighton, served quite generously. The cocktails were to die for, so much so that I had to sample three of them. Ben and the team were incredibly accommodating and welcoming throughout my visit. If you’re looking for a Sunday night well spent, please do visit Embers! You won’t be disappointed!

Best restaurant I’ve ever been to amazing food (ox heart, rainbow trout, flat iron steak, cauliflower wings, crème brûlée), perfect drinks, beautiful interior, and flawless service. Embers Brighton is a must-visit! This was my sixth visit to Embers, and I’m quickly becoming a regular. For starters, I had the Woodfired Beetroot with horseradish cream, smoked kale, and hazelnut vinaigrette. The roasted beetroot’s natural sweetness, combined with the slightly spicy cream and the crunch of hazelnuts, was simply perfect. For the main course, I enjoyed the Flamed Whole Sea Bream with clam chowder and bacon jam. The lightly smoky fish paired beautifully with the creamy chowder. I also tried the Cadillac Jo’ Margarita, whose refreshing citrus notes and gentle heat complemented the meal perfectly. The ambiance is warm and inviting, and the service is attentive and knowledgeable. Embers never fails to impress in both taste and presentation.

food was utterly fantastic and once we’d understood the concept of the platter we were all in! the unsung hero was the cauliflower cheese puree which i could bathe in, and went fantastically with everything. best pork i’ve ever had, beef was perfectly cooked and the lamb sausage was so good my boyfriend ordered another. there’s a reason it’s been voted best roast in brighton, highly recommend!

Furna, a new fine-dining establishment in Brighton, is the brainchild of renowned chef Dave Mothersill. The restaurant prides itself on showcasing the best Sussex produce through its regularly rotated tasting menu. Furna's atmospheric interiors feature reclaimed wood furniture and offer counter seating with views of the open kitchen. Additionally, there's a private dining room and an extensive wine cellar boasting world and low-intervention wines.
Wow. This is hands down the best restaurant in Brighton. It’s no wonder they have won a multitude of awards recently and I’ll be shocked if they don’t get a star some time soon! It is one of the best meals we’ve had out in a long time (and we eat out a lot!). From the service, to the storytelling of the dishes and presentation, to the food itself - everything was impeccable. Super classy but also very down to earth a hard balance to strike. The team were all amazing, I but the pastry chef in particular was next level, I’ve really never had desserts like hers! Both her and head chef Dave came over for each course and explained what we were having and they were more than happy to chat and answer questions in depth. What a meal - I would recommend this place to absolutely everyone! The food is stunning but the team really make the experience - thank you all for such a fantastic evening!

My favourite Brighton restaurant. We’ve been about 5-6x and it’s always just the best. Today was for my birthday. The best food, and the best service by a long way. Always add the bread and don’t worry if there’s something on the menu you don’t normally like - it will taste completely different and amazing. It’s a different class to anywhere else in Brighton

An amazing experience. Beautiful birthday lunch. Superb value for money. Such high quality food, the bread is an absolute must the best bread you’ll ever have. We visited yesterday as a group of three friends and had such a fantastic experience. We shared a selection of starters, sides, and the sirloin steak. Everything was absolutely delicious. The octopus starter in particular was an explosion of flavour, a real taste-bud bomb! The service and ambience were spot on. Classy and stylish, yet wonderfully cosy and welcoming at the same time. We had a wonderful evening and will definitely be coming back again. A big thank you to all the staff😊

I'm wary of restaurants that have 30+ mains, Furna had about 6 to choose from and each one was clearly well considered. The Salt Room is a chic and modern British restaurant located in Brighton, offering stunning sea views and a terrace for alfresco dining. It has been recognized as the Seafood Restaurant of the Year in 2017, known for its sustainable and locally sourced seafood dishes. The menu, crafted by Chef Dave Mothersill, features an array of freshly prepared seafood options such as cuttlefish, oysters, lobster, and sea bass.
I visited The Salt Room with my wife tonight for her birthday. We were greeted at the door by a French Manager who was very friendly, with a great accent. He sat us at a lovely table by the window and made sure we were very well looked after. Our waiter was Gabor, who similarly was very friendly and genuinely only interested to ensure we had a lovely experience. He filleted out fish in front of us and took time to recommend all the specials. The food was absolutely fantastic. My favourite of all the dishes was the dover sole. Even the desserts at the end were fantastic. We will definitely be back soon and would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Fantastic food, but absolutely the staff made our evening so special. It felt like nothing was too much trouble for them.

We had a fantastic lunch here mid week. The food quality is quite simply outstanding, and as for the shellfish I have to say we were delighted. My wife and I have just returned from a 2 month stay in the Algarve's biggest fishing port where seafood and fresh fish is obviously plentiful so we were wondering how we would fare on our return to the UK after that. We were not disappointed, the XL prawns were locally sourced, fresh and absolutely delicous. The ribeye steak was perfectly cooked and the Piri-piri Monkfish my wife had was also excellent. It's not cheap, but it's more than a meal - it's an experience - the wines, top class service and ambiance all adds to it and the hosts clearly take great pride in what they do, so it's worth paying the extra if you can afford it. They claim it's Brighton's best seafood restaurant and I have no reason to doubt that. It's certainly a high bar. Looking forward to coming back one day, sadly we don't get to Brighton more than once a year.

We had a wonderful dinner yesterday at The Salt Room. The restaurant was full of atmosphere, yet we were comfortably seated at a large table. The service was excellent – the waiters were friendly, attentive, and clearly very professional. On their advice, we ordered the monkfish to share, served with mussels and moqueca sauce. It was simply gorgeous – beautifully cooked and full of flavour. To finish, we had the lemon tart and truffles, both of which were outstanding. A truly memorable dining experience. Many thanks to the team at The Salt Room.

I forgot to take photos, but the taste said it all — truly a memorable meal!

This place had been on our bucket list for a long time and we had booked months in advance. Sadly I have to say we were deeply disappointed with the Salt room. We arrived and were shown to our table. We ordered the scallops and the ceviche as starters and the monk fish to share. The starters were very good. From Here on our experience went down hill very fast! The monk fish, £60 to share, we were given a side plate each and no way of serving the sauce and to be honest I would have expected a little garnish, even if it was just chopped parsley! Overall the food was ok as seen in the pictures. Unfortunately the same cannot be said about the service, we watched with glee as the table opposite us were pandered to topping up there wine, engaging with conversation asking if everything was ok, we had nothing! No interaction of any kind with our waiter. My wife never complains, but thought today she would, She was told by the maitre’d that “well it was his birthday yesterday and may be he shouldn’t be in work today! We were asked if we wanted a drink as way of an apology, to which we didn’t agree but were given, we then started to talk to the couple on the table opposite us and explained our experience to them, whilst doing so our waiter was swooped out, although by then we had finished our meal. The maitre’d then comes to our table and asked us to leave stating “we require your table back NOW”. As we were leaving he turned to us both and said the we were black listed and must never return! As we had spoken to the couple on the opposite table. To say we were both gobsmacked is an understatement! We have never been treated like this in our lives and will not ever consider going back. What a totally over rated over priced pretentious establishment!

We love it here. We normally go before a concert, in this case the wonderful ABC. The food and service is exceptional and the way the decor was put in place is amazing and a nice story behind it. Having had general surgery only two days before, the staff had no issue with sorting out my lobster so I could eat it with one hand ! We both think this place and staff are fantastic. Oh the fries with the lobster are just so nice.....

The Coal Shed Brighton is a modern restaurant with a wooden floor and industrial details, specializing in locally sourced meat and fish. While known for its steaks, the chefs also excel at preparing fish on charcoal grills. The restaurant's smaller plates feature seafood cooked to perfection over open flames. A must-try dish is the wood-fired cod, showcasing the establishment's mastery of cooking over fire.
We had a wonderful anniversary meal at The Coal Shed. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the beautiful interior design which stylish, warm, and perfect for a special occasion. The service was fantastic throughout. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and made us feel really welcome. As it was our anniversary, they even surprised us with a little dessert, which was such a thoughtful and lovely touch. We both had steaks, and they were absolutely delicious. They were perfectly cooked & full of flavour. For sides I would particularly recommend the mac and cheese and creamy spinach. Overall, a fantastic experience from start to finish. I would highly recommend The Coal Shed for anyone looking for a great meal in a lovely setting.

We’ve just finished our meal for my birthday and I cannot fault it in any way. The service was next level. I had the fillet steak and it was the best steak I’ve had to date, without a doubt! We visited the restaurant on a Monday evening for dinner service. The lovely lady at front of house showed us to our table. Our server Serena ensured we were well looked after during our visit. Absolutely wonderful service and experience. I had the scallops to start (stunning!) and cod which was good but would, with the other flavours on the plate (charred hispi cabbage and curried mussel sauce), benefited from a firmer fish like hake or halibut, which is much firmer. To me the cod was lost in the bold other flavours. Overall though this is an excellent restaurant and the execution of food presentation is outstanding.

Supposed to take photos of the meals but ended up only with empty plates – that’s how good it was! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, portions are generous, and everything tasted excellent. One of the best steaks I’ve ever had – perfectly cooked and full of flavour. Highly recommended!

Our visit to The Coal Shed was fantastic—the food was absolutely amazing. The experience was truly elevated, however, when they accidentally brought something wrong in the order. Their response was a masterclass in professionalism: they sincerely apologized, immediately prepared the correct meal, and then comped it entirely, refusing to let me pay for their error. This incredible gesture of owning their mistake so gracefully didn't just fix the situation, it guaranteed our loyalty and turned a great night into an unforgettable one.

Another fantastic meal at the Coal Shed. However, this one was particularly special as we out to celebrate our friend’s anniversary and had to break him out of the hospice to do so! Navigating going out with a wheelchair and someone who is very unwell is a challenging and often stressful experience. The whole team at the Coal Shed was amazing, with special mention for Guy and Tim who really went the extra mile to make this special occasion as seamless and fun as possible. It goes without saying that the food was amazing (I mean we did have 1.8kg of wagu beef so it was going to be pretty tremendous), the surrounding were beautiful, and the atmosphere elegant but lively! I cannot recommend highly enough. Many thanks again to the team who made this evening so wonderful.

Lively already late afternoon on a September Thursday, great atmosphere for a birthday celebration. Delicious food (we had a blow out consisting of steaks, ribs, pork belly, steak tartare and puds plus coffees but no booze). 64 Degrees is a trendy and innovative restaurant located in Brighton, offering a unique dining experience with its small-plate concept. The industrial-style space features an open kitchen where guests can watch the chefs prepare dishes like flat iron misozuko with Bovril and shallot, Gorgonzola, kimchi and hazelnut, or brill with grapefruit and chilli.
A, quite frankly, sensational dinner at 64 Degrees. The tasting menu was brilliantly executed and being sat at in the heart of the action really makes for a wonderful dining experience. The chefs were fantastic and took time to chat and explain the dishes, too. You could feel (and taste) the passion. Personal highlight was the venison and birria taco dish which I can say was one of the best things I've ever eaten. The usual pairing wines weren't available but alternatives were well matched and complimented the dishes. The wine service was a tad slow but the house owned it and made up for it. A wonderful experience. Thank you.

We have eaten here a few times, and has others have said its an intimate and personal experience with an evolving menu of tasting delights. This time we had some wonderful dishes, the angelotti and bisque is delicious, which can also be paired with wines. We prefer to sit at the pass both to see the plating but also talk to the chefs about the menu, ingredients, etc. We love it here and will try to visit every time we are in town.

Loved it. Went at the lunch sitting and sat at the counter right in front of the chef. Chef was very calm and professional in the kitchen and always happy to chat with us when we had questions. Each course would be put in front of us with a description of what it is by either the waitress or chef, both of which were very welcoming and lovely people. Most importantly the food was absolutely delicious. Most dishes were classic combinations of flavours but executed to a high standard. The lobster bisque in particular was a standout! I would highly recommend to anyone wanting a nice relaxed dining experience with some very tasty food. Can't wait to go back.

The food was impeccable, the flavours from each dish were literally mind blowing and we could see the love and attention Chef Michael and his team put into every portion. Exquisite dining experience, wonderful service and top notch culinary and presentation skills! Absolutely recommend! Can’t wait to go back. And I appreciated the consideration of the staff regarding my shellfish and nut allergies! Thanks so much

Michael and team are masters of their craft and we were incredibly fortunate to pick their restaurant for dinner! From the sublime mackerel with apple and beetroot, to the spicy Korean chicken, to the rich brill and brown shrimp everything was amazing! I would say we would be back soon, but this was a special trip to the UK, to this special restaurant which hopefully tells you how good it is!

Giggling Squid in Brighton is a laid-back spot that specializes in Thai cuisine, particularly seafood dishes. This popular restaurant chain offers a wide range of well-prepared Thai favorites and is known for its stylish decor and attentive service. Founded by husband and wife team Andy and Pranee Laurillard, the unique name 'Giggling Squid' was inspired by one of their children.
Nice change from fish and chips at the seaside. Spice, flavour, and pepper. freshy made. I had the duck noodles, which was great. The portion size was a little on the smaller side for a noodle dish. Everyone else is dish was on the satisfying side, so I'm not going to reduce my score or quibble. I would definitely recommend this establishment.

I would give this restaurant three stars. While the service was very friendly and the restaurant itself has a lovely ambiance right in the heart of Brighton, which is a definite plus, the overall experience fell a bit short. The presentation of the food was appealing, but the taste seemed to lack something essential. For the price we paid, the quality didn’t quite match up, and there are tastier and more affordable options in the area.
Aredi 7 — Google review
We are Giggling regulars in SW London and had the same delicious food and efficient service experience here in Brighton. We had the lunch set/combo - was tasty and filling as always. Lovely location in the Lanes not far from the beach. Clean restrooms
Saurabh P — Google review
Presentation is lovely and service was great with fantastic attention to allergies. The food itself is best described as ‘safe’; it’s not particularly authentic or flavourful and there are stronger Thai restaurants around with better taste and texture. The caramelised pork was nice but a little tough and the skewers could have been smokier and more seared. The golden money bags may benefit from better seasoning and the texture was a little dry. My partner enjoyed the spring rolls and crispy chilli mushrooms. Nice overall but might not be worth the value - the ‘Nandos’ of Thai chains.

We celebrated a birthday here and had a great time. The atmosphere was perfect, food was amazing and the service was lovely. We had the papaya salad, red curry chicken and the lamb - all delicious.

Brunch was fantastic here. Food was great as well as drinks. We opted for the bottomless drinks, but as the restaurant was extremely busy was a little slow with topping us up but understandable. Friend’s steak wasn’t great but was replaced immediately. Other than that, food was so good we returned the next day before heading back home.

This is definitely a yummy brunch spot but I’m not running to go back. I ordered the French toast which I felt was a bit skimpy as the lady next to me had ordered the same and had a much more generous portion. I spoke to the staff and they were lovely and did give me a small discount as an apology which was very kind of them!! It was decent food, nothing to complain about but nothing to call home about either :)

Cannot rate highly enough! The food was great but the absolute best part was the service! Our waiter (Antonio/Tony) was AMAZING. He was so attentive and such a good sport for our big group of gals on a bottomless brunch, even taking a selfie with us when we asked! It made the experience so special, we love you Antonio!
Courtney C — Google review
Had high expectations, waited for just under an hour for our table of 2’s food. Unfortunately there were only 2 staff on the floor and they seemed quite stretched. The food was a miss for me, cold components like the hash brown and bacon on my English brekkie, and the crayfish was rubbery for my guest. Plating was aesthetic but there’s not much love in the food.

Very lovely place, came to enjoy the sunshine and have a bit of food, the Berries Pancake is as absolutely unreal and so was the limincello Spritz I had after. Everything was made even better with Tegan who helped with the menu, was knowledgeable and just really lovely overall making the experience perfect. Would highly recommend at any time! The place offers a variety of flavors for their award-winning ice cream, including classics like Vanilla and Chocolate as well as unique options like Bubblegum and Jaffa Cake.
You can't visit the beach without having ice cream here:) Different flavours, some changes daily! I took the dubai chocolate and cherry almonds both was delightful&delish. Super friendly service and reasonable price.

The place was packed while we arrived around 7pm and surprisingly, there was only one waiter handling the entire floor. Despite the rush, service was still friendly. The food was impressive. The pizza is freshly made to order, the clam pasta was delicious, Lobster linguine(£32) was average and given the cost, I’d say the value for money isn’t the best…. Before you leave, don’t miss out on the Italian gelato.
Chi F — Google review
Their pistachio ice cream is seriously out of this world. Smooth, rich, and creamy, but most of all, SO full of flavour. Normally, pistachio anything barely tastes like anything other than sugar, including every other pistachio ice cream I've tried. But Marrocco's is unlike any I've had before. Their biscoff flavour was also excellent! Was lucky enough not to have any queue at all on a cold and windy Saturday, but I would happily wait in line on a hot summer day for the pistachio ice cream - absolutely worth it!!

We went here to try the popular Dubai Ice cream. It was nice and fairly priced. We also did try the dining menu, but we did not really like it. Burger was too salty. Pasta was bland. Chicken caesar salad tasted like the chicken was under cooked.

The young server was polite and friendly. Good ice cream. Milkshake is nice, but personally I refer thicker shake, may be make it a 4 scoops or use a smaller cup size. Just personal preference.

I’ve been here a couple times and it always taste as good as it looks, there are large selections of Italian foods from Pastas, Rissotos, Pizzas and the best Gelatos. We’ve ordered the Calamari Fritti and is well seasoned and very crispy we’ve also ordered the famous Crab Spaghetti and is very delicious( Note: If you ordered the Crab Spaghetti I advised sharing with your friends or family the amount on of food you get is a lot and more than I’ll expect), the ravioli is decent as well and in terms of the service is really good the young lady server she decided to gift my friend an extra scoop of ice cream. :D

Amazingly good value. My wife and I stopped by following a beach expedition. We ordered two mixed boxes and were amazed by the amount of food provided. In all honesty, we would have been fine splitting one box! Great quality and polite service. Recommended.

A small restaurant with a great atmosphere and delicious food. Only in Brighton for a few days and this was our last meal before leaving. If we had found it earlier we might have come again!

We have come many times with our dog. It is always great but today we came with out of town family of four and even though it was very busy they did a great job and our friends were very impressed with the quality and quantity of the food, just as we have always been.

Archipelagos. Not the first time we have been here, and the food is excellent, but the service could be improved immensely. The staff did the minimum. They took the order, and put the food on the table. Past that, no one asks how the meal is, no one asks if you need anything, no one asks if you need a drink, THEN they have the audacity to put a service charge on the bill. What for? There are so many choices, offering similar quality food, at similar prices, WITHOUT the 'optional discretionary (only if you spot it) added on service charge, and with far more attention to the customer.
Donna S — Google review
We went to Archipelago’s for a Saturday lunch and the food was amazingly good. The place is quite cosy and had a great buzz when we visited. The staff were friendly and attentive and made sure we were well looked after. I went for the lamb kleftiko which came in a lovely red wine sauce accompanied with salad, rice and really good home made fries. We also ordered some dips and bread to share, the humus was a highlight!! My mum couldn’t finish her lunch and we asked for and got some takeaway boxes for her to enjoy the lunch again for dinner. Definitely recommend this place!!

We ordered various small dishes and shared them. Every dish was made fresh and tasted amazing. The service was on point and all the team were friendly and welcoming. Awful experience. £32 per head with an ‘elvis’ themed night. Poor choice of lukewarm dishes with the performer turning up late. Wouldn’t recommend. Soup starter with satay chicken sticks followe by 4 dishes to choose from. Very poor, try any number of other Thai restaurants in Brighton.

The food was absolutely delicious. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. The only downside is that, the food is a bit pricey for me. The two of us spent over 70 pounds. We had a starter for two people, a main each and drinks. You do have to order rice as a side dish. I think that's where the main gets more expensive.
Yang Y — Google review
Food was amazing! Fresh, homemade, authentic! Flavours were top notch, could not fault the food at all! The service was also 10 out of 10! Lovely people, so friendly, very passionate about the place and you could really feel the respect and vibe about Bali Brasserie. We were lucky enough to talk to TC (the owner for 37 years), what a fantastic guy! We asked him why a place with such amazing food wasn't well known in Hove, and he said it was 'Hove's Best Kept Secret'! Which, if you are cooking for 37 years, then you are doing something right. Authentic flavours because TC is so particular about the food, flavour and being homemade. But...don't expect a trendy, modern, aesthetically styled restaurant. The entrance is dated to the apartment block above it. The deco is also like you stepped into a fine Malaysian restaurant 37 years ago. Its a very large, clean, well presented restaurant, fluorescent pink up lighting, and you sit at the bar until your starters are ready. So, the saying 'don't judge a book by its cover' comes into play here. But when you get over that and realise how good the service is and then taste the food, we felt it was up there with the best food we had eaten in Brighton and Hove. 10 out of 10!
Mel P — Google review
What a wonderful experience. We had dinner here with friends. The food was incredible, I have never tasted anything like it. The staff were very friendly and helpful. This place is truly truly fantastic. Don’t listen to the naysayers, the negative ninnies. The food is wonderful, the staff are gorgeously wonderful and the atmosphere top notch. In a way, this wonderful place is a bit of time capsule, but it’s one of the reasons why this place is so wonderful. Amongst the many overpriced, hyper-gentrified and over modern places that we are forced to dine in, this place stands out for something true, wonderful, fun, nostalgic and just brilliant. Just go and enjoy….

Thr pizza was good but a bit to long in the oven. It was black at some parts, and for that I think the price is quite high. But the service was good and friendly and we got our food after 7-8min. Fresh and fast
Lina - — Google review
I found the experience fairly disappointing. The atmosphere was an issue for us. The music was very loud (and not well-selected), and it generally felt quite chaotic. There were too many tables packed into a small space, so you’re elbow to elbow with other customers; me and my partner could barely hear each other speaking. The pizza itself was good, the beer was excellent and the staff were overall very nice, but the loud music and squeezed space means I would look for a different restaurant next time.

This was my first visit here (I had only had a brief look around on a few days earlier) and it was great. My food from temaki (Japanese kitchen) was delicious and presented beautifully. Good prices for the quality. Lovely friendly staff.

Had a really great time at Shelter hall. They managed to squeeze us in when they were absolutely packed. Also had this lovely foggy view of west pier from our table. Food was great and came rather quick. Didn’t take a picture of it all as it was so nice I forgot to. Really like the fact you have such wide variety of different places to select food room. We went for a steak, Parmesan fries and a sea bream dish. Was all very well done. Staff were really lovely and accommodating, asked for extra plates and got multiple from each place we ordered from. So be wary making requests on the app as it goes separate to each place you order a dish from. Just ask the bar staff or specify the place you’d like an extra plate or whatever you request is. Definitely would recommend and will be attending again.

What a great concept that celebrates West Sussex local food and offers so many delicious options. We went on a Friday around 1pm and walked right in, though I imagine it gets busy so booking is probably a good idea. Well done - I especially recommend the subergene side dish with a pizza! Buenissismo!

Restaurant
Kindling Restaurant is a sleek and upscale establishment with an open kitchen that offers innovative British cuisine along with cocktails. The team behind this relative newcomer shares a passion for local suppliers, minimal waste, and quality service. The restaurant's ethos revolves around being kind to the planet, emphasizing high-welfare meats, sustainable fish, local produce, and preserving to extend the seasons.
Came to Kindling last Tuesday to celebrate my partners birthday. Booked through the First Table website, and the only slot they had was 4:30pm, but they let us come in a bit earlier as we were a bit pushed for time, which was really appreciated. Lovely decor and can imagine it can get really crowded during busy times, but the atmosphere was nice and chilled while we were there. We were hoping to go for the mid-week meat platter, but it wasn't on the menu we were given, so it possibly isn't an option for the First Table promotion, so instead we went for the sharing cut of T-bone steak with a few sides to share. Honestly, the steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Also appreciate it comes to the table already sliced to save any arguments over who has had the most! Ordered 2 sauces but probably didn't need them as the sauce from the sides and flavour from the steak was plenty. Also ordered 2 starters - Courgette & Feta Fritters, which was top, and the Brisket & Jalapeño Croquette. This didn't turn up, which is unfortunate, as I was really looking forward to trying it, but by the time we finished our mains, we had had more than enough to do us so will definitely try it next time! Both agreed that even without the first table discount that this was fantastic value for money! Looking forward to our next visit!

Had an amazing meal at Kindling tonight. We ordered the sharing T bone steak, mac and cheese and skinny fries for the main course. The steak was one of the best steaks I’ve had in a very long time, cooked really well and tasted amazing. The sides and sauces were great. Had sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for dessert which was literally perfect. The atmosphere was good, with it being pretty much a full house and service was friendly and quick. After days of classic fish & chips, we decided to change things up and try burgers – and Kindling delivered perfectly. Even our children, usually loyal fans of the “golden M,” were impressed by their cheeseburgers and immediately asked if we could come back again. The food was fresh, well prepared, and served with a smile. Burgers & chips may sound simple, but here they are done with care and quality. The relaxed atmosphere made it easy for the whole family to enjoy a meal together. Sometimes, stepping away from tradition is the best decision – and Kindling proved it. Highly recommended for anyone in Brighton looking for something beyond the usual seaside fare.

The Sunday roast sharer was incredibly delicious. It’s hard to find somewhere that serves such tender meat and crispy and fluffy roast potatoes. We had lemon tart to finish, which we shared. It was the perfect amount of food. I would highly recommend Kindling for a Sunday roast. The service was great too.

Reservation recommended! From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed and promptly served. I ordered the House Bavette with Chimichurri sauce, side salad, and skinny fries — everything arrived quickly and was cooked to perfection. The steak was tender and full of flavour, beautifully complemented by the vibrant Chimichurri. Even the salad and fries were exceptional. The table setting, complete with a candle, created a lovely atmosphere, and the staff were attentive, friendly, and professional — some of the best I’ve encountered. For food and service of this quality, the bill was a pleasant surprise. Kindling is truly a team that delivers excellence.

Absolutely lovely experience from start to finish! The food was delicious the steak was perfect and the mac and cheese was amazing. What really made the evening special was the staff so friendly, welcoming, and incredibly accommodating. They went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect for such a special night. I’ll definitely be back again soon! 😊

Paris Wine Bar in Hove is a popular spot known for its wide variety of wines and frequent wine tasting events. The bar hosts an array of events, from cheese and wine tastings to celebrations of South American wines, catering to groups of any size. In addition to an extensive wine list featuring options like Brunello di Montalcino, the bar offers a seasonal menu with dishes ranging from beef burgers to crab cakes.
This place is easy to miss on your way past on church road. Although it's called 'Paris Wine Bar' it actually does excellent french-style tapas. Lovely decor and area out back with a roof which opens up. Great lighting which gives off a super relaxed vibe. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our visit. We ordered a large selection of the tapas and it was all good pawns, meatballs, salad, fishcakes and ratatouille. I have attached a recent photo of the menu. The place was also really clean throughout including the toilet. We will be back and I would recommend. Enjoy!

I visited this restaurant for the first time a few weeks ago with 3 girlfriends and we were met by Charlotte (I hope I got that right) behind the bar. She allowed us to pick our own table out in the sunshine and brought our drinks to our table. The service was fantastic and very attentive never having to wait for anything and nothing was too much trouble. The food was also excellent, you could tell that it was all freshly prepared. Not the cheapest but good value when you consider the quality of the ingredients. We will be back!

It was great to see Paris Wine Bar busy on a Tuesday night. After a hectic Easter weekend, it was such a treat to visit a venue that never disappoints. I went for the surf and turf and the chicken skewers. Both dishes hit the mark perfectly delicious, well-cooked, and full of flavour. Just what we needed! As we all said at the table, what a venue. Cozy vibes, friendly service, and only a short stroll from the beach. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable spot with great food and atmosphere. Emily and Sam were great. Apologies I ate it to quick so no photos

This is one of my favourite places to come, they have a lovely garden out back work lights and heaters. Tried the new tapas menu for the first time a couple of weeks ago and want disappointed. Lovely selection of food, new updated cocktail list and great wine

Great venue! This place has tables or you can sit at the bar. The staff are very pleasant. There is a large range of wines & champagnes available by the glass/bottle. The menu has a range of light snacks, meals etc. with something for everyone. As it was a Saturday lunchtime, the place got fairly full.

We had a superb dinner and drinks evening at Paris Wine Bar yesterday evening. Extensive options catered for everybody in our party. Great quality and strength of drinks. Reasonably priced and lovely surroundings. Whats not to like?

I've only recently discovered the Paris Wine Bar, and I'm sad that I didn't sooner. The garden area is divine, and the service is quick and efficient. The food is also really tasty – admittedly I've only tried the chips, but they lived up to expectations. The staff were very approachable, keen to help, and fun to talk to. I'd certainly recommend this place! It is slightly expensive and with no student discount, so would be best suited for young professionals and older.

Pub
The Farm Tavern is a charming and cozy neighborhood pub located near the seafront in Hove. Despite being owned by Greene King, it has a unique and friendly atmosphere that sets it apart from typical chain pubs. The pub offers a wide range of drinks, including local ales and quality cocktails made by skilled bartenders. On Thursdays, they have a special offer on margaritas. The menu features delicious pub grub, Sunday roasts, and sharing plates.
Popped in for the first time, based on previous reviews and I have to say that we were not disappointed. The size of the Roasts were immense, normally I would have been defeated but I was on a mission.....the Piggies were perfect, the cauliflower & broccoli with the added Polish Kielbasa were sublime, adding a meaty smokiness to the dish. I finished up with the Apple Cake - a big portion and a large Żubrówka with Apple juice and fresh mint. Hats off to the chef and the team, we had a wonderful lunch and finished it off with a walk on Hove seafront

Our local friends enjoyed a good meal on their last visit, so they brought my friend and I visiting from Manchester for a Sunday dinner. The wait time was ridiculous. We eventually got told it was because they had to cook more potatoes. The servers were apologetic and kept offering to get us more drinks- turns out, not a single round was on the house. After an hour and a quarter, our food finally arrived and, boy, what a disappointment. As you can see in the picture…it’s not a complete roast. There were two sad, shrivelled carrots hiding under the tepid, chewy beef. Spring greens are, in my opinion, a cheap cop-out unworthy of being on a Sunday dinner plate. And that curled-up thing at the back? That was my Yorkshire pudding. I could tell our friends felt really awkward. My meal wasn’t worth half the price tag of £19. What a farce.

Totally recommend this place, we came down from London for the day and found this place through a recommendation on TikTok. Staff were lovely and welcoming, the pub felt cosy but not like you were on top of other tables (we were upstairs). We ordered the pork and the tofu pie, the food took a while but we knew this might be the case when booking and it was so worth it! Great roasts and cauliflower cheese, everything tasted freshly prepared and it was so lovely having two veggie options to choose from! Also had the biggest Yorkshire pudding! Good value for money too :) Will definitely be recommending this place to friends visiting :)

It was my very first time visiting Brighton, (and the Great Britain, in fact) and since it was on a Sunday, I knew I had to try Sunday Roast. So I did a little research in advance and found this wonderful place that served amazing dishes. The atmosphere and music were amazing, and all the staff were warm and welcoming. I booked in advance and good thing I did because the place filled up quickly. I had the Roasted Chicken, Truffle cauliflower cheese, and Bloody Mary. All were a delightful experience. I especially loved the way they cooked their roasted chicken- sooo moist and the potatoes….. so crunchy..!! Gravy went really well with everything. The servings were somewhat huge for me, and I felt terrible for leaving behind the leftovers because my train back to London was scheduled much later that day and I knew I couldn’t eat during the day between my sightseeings. But I would love to go back one day and take the time to devour the roasts!!

Just got back from a 2 night stay at The Gather Inn with my son. Great location. Bar has plenty of alcohol options, lillys cider is my favourite! We didn't try the food this time round as we were visiting friends. Room was clean and had everything you would have needed, towels, hairdryer, iron, kettle. Beds were also comfy. Staff, all were lovely and polite. Can not wait to stay again next year.

Stayed here overnight on our way back from a couple of nights in the New Forest. Stopover, so no high expectations but everyone was so welcoming. Rooms are basic but clean and perfectly adequate, equipped with all the usual amenities. Shout out to Hannah who ran the Thursday Quiz what a great evening. Food was great. Joined forces with four of the locals and couldn't have been made more welcome. Won the quiz - prize tab behind the bar. Will be coming down for marathon next year. Hopefully can get a good deal. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Prices weren't expensive but food was just OK. Burger was a bit bland. Location was good and had a walk along the seafront after. Atmosphere was welcoming but wouldn't eat here again as the food was mediocre.

Although in a great location, the room was rather on the small side. For the rate of £165 it would have been nice to have had a bottle of water provided. The fan was not working properly and we could not have the dormer window open due to the outside wind, so being at the top of the building it was dreadfully hot. The location, itself, however was perfect for what we needed to do.

Yeh look....good location....and the room was pretty basic, though nice and clean....the staff were super friendly and helpful...the beer cold and the food from the bar nice and tasty. Would recommend if you need somewhere to stay in the area.

Just reviewing the food as we didn't stay as guests. We liked the pub for the Sunday roast, and we have been there many times. We were excited to see the Sunday roast was back after being replaced for a while. However, the quality was not as expected. The beef was quite hard, and the cauliflower cheese quite saggy. Vegetables were not well cooked either. The staff is very friendly and the views are great from the place. But they should really check the quality of the ingredients and the food cooking times. There were not many potatoes and too many vegetables on the dish with a small portion of beef. Kitchen processes should be checked.

Botanique is a refined bistro located in Hove, offering a seasonal menu of elevated vegan cuisine. The restaurant exudes laid-back California garden vibes with its chic and natural decor, featuring light wood tables, wicker lighting, and abundant greenery. Emphasizing local and seasonal ingredients, the inventive menu is crafted in collaboration with local farmers to ensure freshness and full flavor.
I have visited Botanique twice now and have been as impressed both times by the service, food and drinks. The seasonal menu is a love letter to vegetables and the amazing selection of wines and cocktails pairs beautifully. Combine this with attentive service and it’s easy to understand why I am counting down the days to go back!!
Clara M — Google review
First of all, I was disappointed when I found out that Botanique is no longer 100% vegan. But having said that, more than 50% of the dishes are vegan or have vegan options available so there was still plenty that we could eat. These are small plates, which I love as I always want a bit of everything. The food comes as it’s ready, so you don’t get everything at once. It was all absolutely delicious, and we had a good debate after about which was our favourite because it was so hard to choose! My main issue is that there wasn’t enough protein in the dishes, so while we were full from the meal we were hungry again quite soon after. The decor was light and beautiful, but it was very quiet when we went so the atmosphere wasn’t amazing. The service was top notch though, very friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes. I’d definitely come back, but I’d probably wait until there was a new menu as we had pretty much every vegan option possible.
Paula C — Google review
Genuinely some of the best food I’ve had in a really long time. And I’m a vegan chef so this was such a joy. Thoughtful flavour profiles, perfect balance of texture - this is my new favourite place in Brighton. The team was super friendly and the wines were great - clearly labelled and lots of organic and bio dynamic options. Honestly obsessed with this restaurant - big up!!!
Saskia S — Google review
Delicious, creative, and visually-inspiring vegan dishes in the heart of Brighton. I want to say it’s a hidden gem but judging by the crowd today it’s perhaps no longer! What stood out for me was the ambience. The interior design matches the culinary philosophy in being tastefully minimalist. I’m intrigued and will be back for more.
Isabella R — Google review
Absolutely delicious! Even if you're not vegan (we aren't) you need to try this place. The food was full of flavour and so moreish. Small plates meant we had to order one of everything (almost!) as we liked the look of it all! Really lovely, friendly service too which seems to be rarer these days. Family friendly too which is nice to see. Highly recommend for Sunday lunch!
Ben B — Google review
Has had a recent revamp of the menu and is back being a great place to come again! I was so relieved as we had been sitting on a gift voucher for a while, and we had heard it wasn't doing so well, but I'm happy to report there has been a huge improvement and a new chef takeover. We enjoyed all of our dishes, and the service was friendly and warm with excellent wine suggestions. My partner and I could not agree on our favourite dish as all of the flavours were different and delicious (but the corn dish hands down, in my opinion) Back to being my favourite place to eat in Brighton!
AB — Google review
Botanique is such a gem! Every dish is vegan and focused on championing the best seasonal produce for the least food-miles. I honestly enjoyed every dish I ate - we ordered six small plates between the three of us with two sides to share. It was the perfect amount of food, and not too expensive considering the size and quality of the dishes. Next time I would want to leave some room for dessert though - the pudding menu looked exceptional! There’s a lovely, calm atmosphere at this restaurant, and the service we received was really pleasant too. The staff are knowledgable about the menu, and attentive without being overbearing. I would not hesitate to come back here for special occasions, it really is worth a visit for vegans and non-vegans alike 🌿✨

Loved this place! The restaurant itself feels cosy and intimate, with bold colourful murals, silk flowers and a lovely faux cherry tree cascading in the centre. While the menu options are so vast, they're initially quite daunting, every dish we selected was cooked / marinaded / cured to perfection. The service was excellent - staff are friendly and professional, and food delivery was super quick. Very rarely does my hubs give a 10 out of 10 as an all-round score, but Wabi Sabi managed this effortlessly. We will definitely be going back. Mission: to get through the whole menu!

First (and wont be the last) visit to WabI Sabi... took close family for an easy lunch, neither of them had really experienced a range of Japanese cuisine before so all new for them. Table booked online and arrived early, seated very quickly and then ordered drinks while we worked our way through the menu. The menu is daunting to first timers, lots of options and maybe some clearer explanations for some. We ordered a selection of appetisers and tempura, then a Bento box and couple of mains that included a Donburi bowl and a Katsu Curry to appease the teenager who would compare to Waga*****. We asked for dishes to arrive as and when they are ready which was great. All food was superb, clean and fresh and served with a typically Japanese care and precision. The beef tataki was amazing and the Katsu was much better than the chain version, thumbs up and indeed conversation from the 14 year old! Should have taken more photos but got lost in the moment and enjoyed the food and conversation. Definitely going back... I mentioned Waga***** which on looking would have cost more for a lesser quality! support local. X

One of the best cafes/restaurant/bar in Hove - another hidden gem. Went for a late lunch on their summer menu - will definitely go back to try their pastries. Did not experience the concerns expressed by other reviews regarding the service. Service was amazing and quick, even though there were quite a lot of customers at that time. Food and coffees were exceptional. 🔥 The lamb was perfectly cooked and the gravy was delicious. The sea bass was very fresh and was executed flawlessly by the chefs. The barrister is really well-trained and professional - best mocha I have had in Brighton and Hove.

Ordered 3 Eggs Royale. Got 3 Eggs Benedict. When we pointed it out, the staff blamed the kitchen—classic plot twist. Finally got the right food, but no cutlery. Asked for some, waited 10 minutes. Waiter says, “Sorry, my colleague’s French and hates the English.” Not sure if that’s an excuse or just a fun fact. 10/10 for comedy, 2/10 if you actually want to eat. Bring your own fork—and maybe a translator.

Wow, what a place and what an experience. We spent over 3 hours there last week with an 11 course menu and my wife had the wine pairing as well. The food was epic, wonderfully presented, so many amazing and different tastes. The service was great, really engaging and interested in explaining the food and then asking for and recieving feedback. Only thing they need to improve is letting people know the restaurant is open, we did laps of the local roads waiting for it to look open, finally tried the door and there were people inside 🤦🏻😂 A great place, now to save the pennies to be able to go back 👍🤙

A unique place / it’s also the place for Rust Cafe ( which is the brunch / breakfast place ) Both are run by different teams / chefs ! The set is the set menu restaurant which is max for 14-16 people per evening ! The pricing is £90/- a head without drinks ..! The food is very good/ delicious and eclectic..! A mix of global cuisine dishes from British/ south American / Indian and Korean cuisine…! All very well made and delicious..! Service is attentive / pre drinks are in the garden … / then you move to main restaurant which looks rusty / unique interiors / quite cool actually…! We had chicken tikka masala as one of the courses / a beautiful bread toasted over grill / and had amazing noodles dish too ! The chocolate miso dessert was just awesome to finish the meal 🍽️ Budget- Meal for 2 is easily £250 with some drinks ! Verdict 5/5 For further information and more pictures please visit my page on instagram @s50ush

Absolutely amazing food. The chocolate miso dessert is a life changer. Most of the items on the tasting menu are absolutely fantastic. And those with an eye for presentation will be pleased. Drinks flight is a nice treat but not necessary to enjoy the meal. You can always just order a bottle or two of wine for less money. Only reason I am giving 4 stars on atmosphere is because of the obnoxious hyper critical customer "wannabe food critic" sat behind us. I know this isn't the restaurant's fault, but just something to be aware of. Hats off to the chefs and server for great service and we will definitely be back again as long as the chocolate miso is on the menu.

Very flavorful and interesting dishes. Plating was mostly basic for this style of restraunt. Wine pairing was good. Most servers were good, but descrption of each plate felt like the servers were bored and reading from a script. On a few they, spoke so fast we and other tables near us could not understand them. Great food, amazing tastes. The restaurant is beautiful, so nicely decorated. Thanks to Sadie! The best waitress! We'll be back!

Great food and friendly service. Check out the specials. Some good drink options to try including orange wine and I can recommend Little Saint low alcohol lager for the drivers amongst you.

Had a fantastic meal at La Tapa Loca with friends this evening. The ingredients were high quality, the food was beautifully presented and tasty. The service was also top notch.

We were wowed by the food here, excellent flavours and presentation, one of the best tapas places in town. The decor is great, but seated downstairs at the back it is a very echoey confined space and difficult to have a conversation. However we could not help feel we were treated differently (as first table diners trying La Tapa Loca for the first time). The tables either side of us were constantly served whilst we felt ignored. The fish stew we ordered never turned up (yet was on the bill) and I had to go up to the bar three times for service. The restaurant was not really busy at this time and this let down our first experience of La Tapa Loca.
Nick C — Google review
Really delicious food, absolutely packed with flavour, and just the right portion sizes to allow for a varied dining experience. We especially loved the chorizo and Gambas croquetas, the octopus (probably the best, more perfectly cooked octopus we've ever had anywhere in the world), the blue cheese with truffle, the ox cheek (unctuous, melt in the mouth, and not fatty - like some others in these reviews seem to have experienced). The desserts (basque cheesecake and almond cake) we're nice, but didn't blow us away like the savoury food - I enjoyed the pistachio gelato that accompanied the almond cake more than the cake itself, which was a bit too sweet for my palate. The basque cheesecake was good, but a bit flat/underwhelming. But by that point we were so satiated by the main meal that it didn't really matter. With regards to service, like others have mentioned, it seems like there isn't enough staff and/or they seem very overwhelmed, but they do try very hard and remain cheerful throughout, especially the women (the manager seemed extremely stressed but he was trying too). Hopefully they'll sort out their service/staffing/stock issues (they seemed to run out of a huge number of items on their menu very quickly) because it does detract from what was otherwise a memorable dining experience.

Led by chefs Amanda Powley and Philip Taylor, the establishment prides itself on using unique ingredients from around the globe to create an exciting dining experience.
Absolutely wonderful vegetarian restaurant in Brighton! The food is spectacular and presented like it's a work of art. Everything we ate tasted divine. The Snap and Crackle chocolate dessert was out of this world! Friendly and welcoming staff too. Highly recommended for a magical, vegetarian dining experience.

I could not recommend this place enough if you’re treating yourself or a loved one to a fancy meal. I went last weekend for the first time in maybe 7 years (I’m not local to Brighton). All my past visits have been 10/10. I was hesitant that, like many things nowadays, the food would be lower quality and more expensive. I was absolutely wrong. We ordered the tapas for two people and then a few sharer bits, and literally stared at each other wide eyed with each bite we took. There is not one thing I could fault (as a Northener, I have to mentioned that their chips are possibly the best I’ve ever eaten). Staff were wonderful and friendly, and the decor has recently been updated so nothing but great vibes. I’ll definitely be back!

The food was INCREDIBLE. I don’t think I’ve eaten that well in a restaurant in years. The restaurant was nicely decorated with a nice ambiance. The servers were really kind, they did forget to send in our order, but when it did came it was well worth the wait and they gave us the entrees for free. All in all, it’s a spectacular restaurant, and I’m debating spending my vacations in Brighton only to go eat there :)

Chose to celebrate our anniversary here as my partner is vegetarian, and as a meat eater cannot recommend this place enough. We opted for the sharing tapas, with a couple of extra starters, amd all were delicious. Service was also top notch and we will definitely be eating here again. Highly recommended.

Superb food throughout and lovely service. We had the tapas. As omnivores we couldn’t believe just how tasty every course was. Y wife in particular wasn’t sure they’d be able to accommodate her dairy and gluten intolerances but it was clear they had no problem at all. Indeed, her slightly adjusted menu may have been even better (delicious sesame crisp). Great wine selection too!

This restaurant is a family favourite of ours. The staff are really friendly and make you feel so welcome. I am GF and there were loads of options for me too which is rare with vegetarian food. I was the only vegetarian out of 8 of us yet everyone commented on how tasty and different the menus is compared to other vegetarian food, so much variety. I recommend a visit.

Went for Octoberbest, blown away by the food and the service! Great with gluten free options and the food was some of the most exciting I’ve ever had - really punchy fish and chip flavours, lush aubergine and very impressive tofu

Went for a meal with a group of 7 friends. Had the set tapas menu and it was absolutely delicious! Perfect amount and selection - favourites were the harissa and hummus and the smoked tofu. Service was great too. Very friendly waiting staff, attentive and efficient. Would definitely recommend!

The Regency Restaurant is a long-standing establishment located on the iconic seafront promenade in Brighton. Housed in a beautiful building that was once a palatial seafront home, it offers stunning views of the beach and pier. The restaurant is popular among locals, foodie tourists, and even celebrities. With its no-frills bistro style, it serves up locally caught seafood prepared in various ways, from battered to grilled or fried, accompanied by chips or salad.
Celebrated my birthday here in Regency was such an amazing experience. Especially Natasha and her team looked after us very well and made my birthday very special. Thank you guys. I would definitely recommend this place… ❤️❤️❤️

The restaurant was packed but still managed to find a table for the 6 of us. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We all had fish and chips (£14.50) fish tasted nice, but portion sizes weren’t the same for everyone. Comes with chips only; mushy peas are an extra £1.95. Oysters were excellent and worth trying. Overall, a bit overpriced for me.
Cosmin T — Google review
The Regency is famed for its range of sea food dishes so alongside the fish and chips, we also had the garlic butter scallops. The fish and chips were fried to perfection, crispy fish and fluffy chips, the curry sauce had a nice spicy, sweetness to it. The Garlic Butter Scallops were very fresh, good portion and tasted delicious. My only criticism is that the portion sizes are quite small for the price, would appreciate a bigger fish and more chips for the price paid. That being said, Regency is very busy and it seems to be the place to go in Brighton for tourists, locals and celebrities. Take a look at the customers and you will see a range of nations enjoying their food, mixed in with the locals. Also take a walk to The Regency’s downstairs bathroom and you can see their wall of fame littered with famous faces from around the world, they really have had everybody pass through their doors, one patron that caught my eye was Hideo Kojima, yes, THAT Hideo Kojima, well, if it’s good enough for Kojima, it’s gets my vote.

Was recommended by locals for their fish and chips - and they do not disappoint! Flakey fresh cod, chunky chips and fresh garden peas. We also ordered their seafood pasta which was packed with flavour. Grilled prawns and scallops were fresh and portions were humongous (were asians so they are huge to us) Had their draft ales and were very quenching indeed. Had a wonderful meal and their staffs were ever attentive and always checked on us throughout dinner. Perfect start for dinner when visiting brighton.

Really good fish. Haddock was flaky and the batter was crisps. The chips were fine but possibly slightly overcooked. We were sat outside so had the view of the sea. Decently priced, and great service too.

In Brighton for a week with my students I chose this restaurant for the last evening meal. I booked a table for two by a window. As soon as you enter this place you are pleasantly overwhelmed by the smell of fish based dishes. I had a starter, a delicious fish soup and a main course that I shared with my colleague - The Mediterranean with hake, mussels, clams, scallops and King prawns. The staff is welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend this place in Brighton if you look for something different from fish and chips.
Piccioni S — Google review
Had our celebration dinner after completing the London to Brighton ride 2025. The staff were wonderful and kindly let us lock our bikes within sight, right between the outdoor tables and the restaurant window. It was the perfect spot to enjoy a heartwarming, delicious meal while the rain came down outside—just what we needed before heading home

This place is a reach treat! I came in around 5 o clock and was seated immediately. I order the Brighton G&T as well as the extravaganza seafood platter. Everything was tasty, fresh and cooked really well. A little pricey but given the area, most things were pricey especially seafood of this kind of quality. Service was amazing, I was checked on frequently and received my food within 10 minutes of being seated. Seating is a little tight so when it got busy, everyone was a little closer on each other than I’d like. However, a great time was had. Outside seating is also available but if you come on a day when the weather isn’t favorable you might prefer a table inside. If you’re in Brighton you should definitely make this place one of your stops.

French restaurant
Petit Pois Restaurant is a top choice for traditional French cuisine in Brighton. The intimate eatery offers a warm ambiance and serves upscale French dishes paired with fine wines. Located in the heart of The Brighton Lanes, this charming establishment provides a rustic interior and a homely atmosphere, making it an ideal spot to gather with family and friends.
My partner and I booked a dinner here for a date, and we were really glad we chose petit pois having not been before. The waiting staff were all friendly, helpful and professional. They didn’t hover over us, they allowed us to enjoy the meal whilst still being very attentive. The food was delicious, full of flavour and well presented. Everything tasted fresh, and was cooked to our liking. We were seated in front of the open kitchen, and it was lovely to see the Chef and other staff in their element, they were clearly very intentional with the flavours and presentation of the dishes.

25th April 2025 Ruminating over the last few weeks on restaurant options for a birthday meal, I experienced a curious phenomenon: for some reason, I didn’t feel like just going for a massive juicy steak. Whether or not opting for upscale French cuisine instead is a sign of irreversible progression towards middle age is something I want to spend less time thinking about, but that’s what I did. What sealed the deal in the end, aside from Petit Pois being new and a bit different to what I’d normally choose, was that my usual quick glance at the menu – long enough to gain an impression without ruining the fun of deciding what to eat while actually there – revealed a good half dozen or so listings I really wanted to try. With Mum, Dad and Elle joining us, it felt like a good way to do just that. Some average olives notwithstanding, that plan began phenomenally. Each of us went for a different entrée, and with my gentle encouragement Dad ordered 12 snails instead of six, and Mum six oysters instead of three. Completing the line-up were scallops, cod fritters in a worryingly-named ‘sauce chien’, and my French onion soup. Without everyone literally trying everything else there was still a lot of swapping and sharing, and the consensus seemed to be that the fritters – crispy on the outside, salty on the inside, with the sauce a sort of fiery chimichurri – came out on top. Dad’s garlic sauce was also very popular, and we ordered bread later to mop it up, but the snails themselves were a bit piddly. I really enjoyed my soup, but found myself trying to offload the giant cheesy ‘croutons’ – a meal in themselves – mostly because I didn’t want to fill up too quickly. I didn’t try any scallop but reviews were good; I’ve had better oysters more than once in Brighton. Between us, we also managed to sample the halibut fillet, the blood orange duck breast, the cassoulet and the wild mushroom crêpes. There was a lot going on. Strangely the duck was the only thing that came out as a full course, with dauphinois, kale and beautiful blobs of beetroot purée; the cassoulet in particular could have done with a bit of veg but we were all fighting over the one side of delicious sautéed greens we ordered (except Elle, who thought they tasted of mussels). Highlights were the duck itself, high quality and cooked to perfection (although the orange was very much front and centre), and the halibut (although the subtleties of the shellfish velouté were lost on my palette by that stage). The crêpes were the least celebrated: nice enough flavours but heavy and lacking in variety well before the end of the unnecessary second. Thankfully, it was only after all of that I realised the wall to my back was a ginormous blackboard charcuterie menu, because I would definitely have regrettably tried to squeeze in a few slices of jambon here and a gourmet fromage or two there. As it was, we shared the trio of unfortunate crèmes brûlées instead. I’m not an expert, but the layer of sugar was “too toffee apple” for those round the table in the know – for me the coffee one just didn’t taste very nice and so I left it there. Overall, it did feel that Petit Pois managed to disprove that old rule of thumb that the fewer options on a menu – the more a place specialises – the better, but in hindsight perhaps the fact that there’s nothing I’d definitely re-order if I went back contradicts that sentiment. Really good, solid food all-round, bordering on the spectacular in moments without ever quite crossing over, and a nice wine list, too. I would go back though. I’m just glad Petit Pois is in Brighton, as I’m not sure I could handle the look of disdain I’d get ordering just the roast garlic mash and a block of soft goat’s cheese if I was actually in France.

We came here for my 30th birthday meal down from London and we were not disappointed! Having been once in 2021, standards were absolutely maintained. We had a glass of champagne on arrival, and then the calamari for starters. After some excellent wine advice from Charlie, we moved to red wine and had the beef and duck for mains which were so tasty and great portion sizes. Creme brulé and a birthday truffle and candle for dinner. Thank you so much for making my birthday meal so special!!

Made the most of the sunshine with a quick trip to Brighton. The spot I’d planned on going was booked out for a private event, so ended up finding a nearby French bistro, *Petit Pois* — and what a find. Saw they had a cheese board on the dessert menu, and that alone was a good sign. Everything was spot on: classic flavours, generous portions, no unnecessary faff. Two courses for £22.50 — absolute bargain. Starter-wise, the chilled pea soup was a summer dream — silky, fresh, with crunchy peas and toasted pine nuts. Delicious. The smoked mackerel pâté was rich and moreish too, just needed more of that lovely sourdough it came with. For mains, I had the skate wing — usually bony, but somehow pan-fried to tender perfection, crispy edges and all. Rich with buttery flavour, balanced with a sharp caper sauce. The roast pork belly (from the à la carte) came in a huge portion. The meat was soft and loose, and the crackling? Out of this world — salty, crisp, proper satisfying. Best surprise was another piece of crackling on top of the tasty garlic mash. Dessert didn’t disappoint either — crème brûlée came in three unexpected flavours: vanilla, cinnamon, and prune. Each one textbook-perfect. Left properly chuffed.

My husband and I were visiting Brighton for a couple of days, so I searched for good places to eat before we arrived. Petit Pois came up online, and after looking at their menu, I booked. We weren't disappointed in any way. The resturaunt was lovely, the staff very helpful and friendly. Our food was wonderful - we both had Crispy Squid starter, My husband Toulouse Sausage and I had Mushroom Crepes, then we both had the Trio of Cremes Brulees with Madeleines. We drank wine with our meal and finished off with a liqueur coffee. We'll be visiting again next time we're in Brighton!

My wife and I have not been to Brighton for several years, and had not eaten at Petit Pois before tonight. We were very impressed! The escargot were outstanding, but the seabass with pearl barley was a real treat. Our fellow diners had the duck, and loved it This restaurant is a real underrated gem. Booking is essential abd I guess that sums up its popularity and quality of food. All the staff were superbly friendly and helpful, with a special mention to Charlie, our waiter. Honestly, Petit Pois is a hidden culinary delight!
Chris S — Google review
On my first night and upon arrival in Brighton and checking into my hotel, did have a look around on Google Maps to see what places were around. I found Petit Pois and headed out there, where I had a delicious cassoulet. Having really enjoyed this cassoulet, and I liked the look of other stuff on the menu, on the following day I headed out back to Petit Pois for dinner. Despite it being a Monday evening, it was busy, but I was able to get a table. Inside is a French style bistro, lots of wooden tables and chairs. There is an air of informality about the place, also an eclectic decoration on the walls. They had a really interesting looking menu and it was quite challenging to work out what to have. The previous evening I was stuck between the Bouillabaisse and the cassoulet. That time I had gone with the cassoulet, this time I went with the Bouillabaisse. This was described on the menu as bouillabaisse of local fish & shellfish, squid, prawn, potato, samphire, rouille, grilled bread. I have to say I was impressed when the dish arrived, it looked fantastic. The bowl was brimming with shellfish and fish. There was grilled fish portions, prawn, scallop, squid, clams and mussels. You couldn’t have really asked for any more fish in that bowl. All the fish was perfectly cooked and the sauce was delicious, full of flavour. I loved the addition of the samphire and this really added to the flavours and texture of the dish. I could have done with more bread, though most meals I could do with more bread. Having finished the bowl of tasty seafood, I was left wanting more. I made the decision it might be a little greedy to order a second bowl. As with my previous visit, the service was warm, friendly and efficient. Overall a lovely experience.

Sushi restaurant
MOSHIMO is a modern sushi restaurant with sliding screens that open to the outside and a deck featuring Japanese-style seats. The restaurant is known for its sustainability efforts, offering a menu that is largely vegan-friendly. Dishes include plant-based sashimi, vegan tempura, and sushi rolls filled with vegan crab, tuna, or salmon. The menu features color-coded dishes to distinguish completely plant-based options, along with vegan wines.
Visited Moshimo for the first time tonight and immediately had to leave a review. The food was incredible, so many vegan options!!! We were served by a lovely girl with long lashes and a pretty pink dress, I think her name was daisy, what a delight! Will be back soon

Atmosphere was a bit quiet as there was a huge storm outside so it was less busy than usual. It's normally lively and enjoyable though. Food was exceptionally good, as it always is here. Great value, especially with the annual members card. Fantastic variety, catering for veggies and vegans too, yay! Would love a bit more vegan protein that isn't fake meat, but hey, I'm not complaining, just gently suggesting! Staff are always friendly, capable, available and competent. All in all a reliably fantastic restaurant with great prices, wonderful food, super service and a friendly vibe. Highly recommended!

Disappointing visit, would not recommend This visit was quite a letdown overall. The restaurant felt unclean, and the bathrooms were unpleasant with two taps not working and no tissues available to dry hands. The food was below expectations. The ribs, which were advertised as “fall off the bone,” were hard, dry and chewy. The sauce did not help, and I had to send them back. The chicken katsu was bland and served somewhat cold, as was the rice, even though the waiter said it had been freshly made. The sushi was another disappointment, with very overcooked rice that ruined the texture, although the salmon and avocado inside were fresh and enjoyable. There were a few positives. The presentation of the dishes was very nice. The vegetable tempura had a lovely batter and the gluten free option was inclusive and thoughtful. The gyoza were soft and the sauce paired well. I also appreciated that gluten free soy sauce was available. Service was another weak point. The waiters mostly stood around chatting to each other, and a member of our group had to get up twice to get their attention because they were not paying attention to tables. In summary, while there were some nice touches, the poor hygiene, disappointing food and inattentive service make this a place I would not recommend.
Elina — Google review
The menu is simple with not much thrills. Simplistic you could say. Ordered a big sushi boat (£100)and few sides and noodles. The food came out in good time and the waitress was accommodating and doing her best, thumbs up to her. The food itself was disappointing and not very good vfm. Ribs were very dry, the teriyaki chicken was going on dry, the noodles lacked any umpff, the sushi was fine but not worth the money in my opinion.

Our favourite sushi restaurant! The food is always so good and so many delicious options to choose from. A good balance of fish, meat & vegan varieties. The service is consistently high, staff are very patient, attentive and good at offering menu advice. They also don’t seem to mind the mess my two young children make when they eat the ribs! The kids say it’s their favourite place to eat.

Great food and delicious but felt the service was a little off than other times we have been. No warm welcome and the table service was not overly attentive or cheerful. Coffee shop
Nestled in the heart of Kemptown, Brighton, Open Bakery offers an authentic artisanal bakery experience. This European-style bakery on St. Georges Road is a favorite among locals and tourists alike, boasting an array of delectable bread, pastries, tarts, cakes, and savory treats all made in-house. Originally part of the Real Patisserie chain, this family-owned establishment has been serving freshly baked goods since 1997.
A little over 7£ for two pastries. We got almond croissant and a fruit danish, both tasted divine. Theres a layer of what tastes like evaporated milk in the middle of the pastry layers which elevates them to the next level. Very impressed.

Absolutely delicious pastries! There was quite the line in the morning (understandably so), so I had plenty of time to choose what I wanted. Went for an almond pastry with raspberries and it was divine. The coffee was also great and refreshing!

They bake everything on-site daily, with a huge range of breads and sweet treats. The aroma floods the street when they’re working late at night. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. It's a great place to grab a coffee and a pastry, or to stock up on fresh bread. Indoor seating is limited, but this is more of a grab-and-go kinda place. I love getting breakfast from here before going to uni. Also, prices are slightly above average, but the quality justifies the cost in my opinion. Overall, Open Bakery is a fantastic bakery in Kemptown. They offer delicious baked goods, a welcoming atmosphere, and a true taste of artisan baking. I’m so lucky to live next to this place, highly recommend!

Whenever I stay Brighton, I visit Open Bakery in Kemptown on a daily basis. My breakfast of choice is a small tea (made nice and strong, with the teabag left in) and a cinnamon twirl. Like all the items I’ve tried, these are absolutely superb. If you like a cinnamon twirl, this is the ultimate - supermarket versions just don’t compare. While I’m being served I am often tempted by one of the cakes on display. On my latest visit I tried an almond bite (moist, buttery and delicious), a rum canele (absolutely divine) and a vegan tiramisu cake (rich and tasty). Everything looks so good, it’s hard to choose! The staff are always friendly and welcoming and make time to chat, even though the bakery is often busy. They never make you feel rushed and are helpful and polite. Open Bakery is one of my favourite things about Brighton. I highly recommend a visit and guarantee you will not be disappointed.
