Pub
The Royal is a charming bottle shop in St Leonards, East Sussex, founded by James Hickson and Gina Hewitt. With over 300 wines mainly from Europe, the shop offers a cozy spot by the window for customers to enjoy their selection. The owners also organize wine tasting nights for an informal exploration of different wines. Opposite St Leonards Warrior Square station stands The Royal, a grand Victorian pub with stylish dark green interiors filled with plants.
Lovely lunch experience at the Royal! The oxtail with mashed potato was so comforting and perfect for a gloomy day in the seaside. Never skip dessert for me so I ordered panna cotta! It didn’t disappoint and was so good! Really like the casual dining atmosphere as well. Quality food with reasonable price! Plan to go back for dinner and Sunday roast soon.

The service was friendly and welcoming, which set a nice tone for the evening. The broccoli cavatelli, however, was mediocre at best—bland and lacking depth. In contrast, the lamb was excellent—tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection, though it could’ve been served a bit warmer. The space is quite cramped, so keep that in mind if you're looking for a more comfortable or private setting. Overall, it was a good experience with solid value for money.
Jan K — Google review
Where to begin… we were amazed!! My partner and I came in recently looking for a quiet dinner, initially it looked like a normal pub with your typical pub decor. However, we were met with a really pleasant server, Christian, who walked us through to the restaurant. As we sat down, the vibe of the place changed. It was quiet yet welcoming, with unique pictures of various plants on the walls. I looked at the menu and didn’t understand half of the words, but every question we had was swiftly answered by Christian, he really knew his stuff. My partner and I love to share food, so in total we ordered 6 dishes, as they come, and loved every single one. What stood out to me was how fresh the Squid with Orzo dish was and my partner loved the Lamb with what we felt was a fun Greek twist. The beetroot starter with capers, we thought was inspired and delicious. We finished with a cheese taster and a Chocolate Tart with Sour Cherries and Crème Fraîche which balanced each other perfectly. We thought this would cost an arm and a leg but we were shocked when the bill came in extremely reasonable. Christian was also very sweet with our son who loves to throw his toys about, so thank you for your patience. Overall, fantastic experience, well done. Thank you for an enjoyable evening! Tl;dr Great service, great food, great atmosphere. Must visit.
Millie X — Google review
Really delicious meal this evening - yummy cauliflower and almond soup, guinea fowl and chestnut pie (served for two) and orange polenta cake. Glass of wine - £43 total. Shame bread not included with soup . A bit mean really … however all in all really good value and it was all properly cooked.
Andrew W — Google review
Atmosphere and service was lovely! Pub was delightful and had quick service, had a few beautifully poured pints in there. But sadly the food which was the main reason we were there did not live up to the hype for us. I got the grey mullet with ratte potatoes which while presented beautifully was criminally under seasoned. A friend got the pork chop with lentils which was overdone and dry. Would try again as I can see the potential of this team
Christopher — Google review
For the prices they charge I would have expected much better both in terms of quality of food and service available. The Royal is positioning themselves as a premium (£20+ for a main) restaurant but unfortunately does offer the service to match. If you are visiting St Leonards I would recommend trying one of the many other restaurants which offer much better value for money and a much friendlier service. Having visited twice now we won't be visiting again.
STS — Google review
Loved our experience here! Everything was perfect - portions were very generous and good value for money x
Izzie H — Google review
From the booking to our visit it was a kind experience, as well as a culinary pleasure. We were a group with different needs and not particularly easy ones, and our server as well as the person who responded to my email and questions, were nothing but kind, discret and humane. I was very touched by this. Thankyou. The food was beautiful and “soigné” and we were very happy to find two vegetarian dishes that were as complete as a meat based proposition.

Goat Ledge is a vibrant beachfront cafe located in Warrior Square, St Leonards on Sea. The cafe's name pays homage to the 19th-century practice of stockmen bringing their goats to an old rock reef known as Goat Ledge. Today, it offers a menu featuring delicious fish baps, ice cream, delectable cakes, waffles, and hot drinks. Additionally, visitors can enjoy beer, wine, and cocktails while taking in the stunning sea views.
Wonderful place with seating up on the promenade and on a beach terrace. Can’t talk about the food, as we didn’t order any. But what we saw on other tables looked just great. We were there for some drinks only. Great atmosphere with a great selection of music being played. Will definitely be back.

Amazing find. Great food limited menu done well. Perfect for breakfast and brunch. Bacon, egg and hash brown in a bap which according to my daughter was 'bussin''. Friendly staff and sprawling tables lots of seating. Service was quick and efficient, yet laid back. Love the music too reggae/folky.

We were recommended this spot by so many people, and they didn't disappoint. We bought the katsu curry chippies, and my word was it loaded!! I liked that they didn't just add the sauce to the top, it was layered throughout. We also bought a pasty which had fish, potato and leeks but what made it taste fab was the Indian style seasoning! I've never had that combo, so hats off to the chef. I also appreciate that they advocate for social causes. If I ever return to St Leonard's, this will be my first pit spot! Thank you guys.

Absolutely lovely beach bar in St Leonards that shouldn't be missed if you're in the area. Great atmosphere, food served, but we didn't eat.

You can't really tell driving past but it's like a mini food court, with main food and coffee ordering, amazing ice creams (and Vegan sorbet) separate but lots of seating (in the sun/shade, indoor/outdoor). Plus a fresh seafood stall (SEPARATE business but complimentary to the fresh plaice burgers, crab topped fries from Goat Ledge).
Matt K — Google review
Lovely to sit on the beach veranda, listen to the waves, and music whilst eating crab chips with a beer. Superb place. Will return soon 👍
Samantha K — Google review
Not sure it was worth the hype tbh. Had a tofu gluten free burger which was great and a frozen spicy marg which was very small in a small plastic cup with one of those claggy paper straws. Cost £22. Thought the drink was very priced. Burger was quite pricey for what it was. Outdoor seating good for a hot day but otherwise you are fighting the elements.

Such a lovely place with really delicious food and wonderful service. It's right on the beach, with colourful seating. I was served quickly and everyone was very welcoming and kind.

As a Michelin Award-winning restaurant, it has received accolades from various prestigious guides. Visitors praise the thoughtfully prepared and reasonably priced set menu, highlighting the delicious food and friendly service in a cozy and clean setting.
We went for lunch for my special birthday and it really was a special lunch, what a wonderful restaurant St Clements is. The food was excellent, very flavorful, beautifully presented with great attention to detail. Service was wonderful with a personal touch, to every diner, not just us. Thank you for such a memorable lunch. Can't wait to go again

A local institution in St Leonard’s - Hastings. We dined here on a bank holiday Saturday in May 2025. We came with our two children, something the restaurant isn’t used to accommodating as most of the customers are couples or older, more refined folks. The restaurant was perfectly welcoming of the little ones and even rolled out a high chair for our baby. The ambience is lovely, a small intimate dining room with the glow of table lamps set against a dark shade of green on the walls. Drinks were efficiently ordered - the house Cremant de Bourgogne, and an alcohol free German wheat beer. Appetisers comprised of a tasty Thai fishcake, no breadcrumb filler and a delicious dipping sauce; and a chestnut, mushroom and Comte tart. The mains came next - the hake with broad beans and pancetta was a smash hit. The turbot was tasty but this is my only criticism, the portion was far *too small*. Sides of buttered greens and a tomato and shallot salad were, well, perfect. Too stuffed for dessert, we chatted with two friendly ladies at the table next door, then paid and left. About £114 for 2 appetisers, 2 mains, 2 sides and 3 drinks, a very good value. We’ll come again.
Saurabh D — Google review
We booked a table for 4 on Sunday lunch. We were welcomed in a friendly but professional manner. The menu offered traditional roasts but also interesting seafood options. We loved the place as it was cozy but elegant at the same time. Good selection of wines and spirits. Perfect experience at a fair price. Will go again!

What an absolute Gem of a restaurant. Tucked far enough away from the humdrum but not too far away to appreciate it's absolute class. Service and attention on point, food absolute first class. The selection of wine is up there with Oz Clarkes selling aids!! Not for the first time, my wife and I have left wishing we had unlimited funds along with being able to maintain a positive body image. Seriously though this place is fantastic, they don't do regular dining more exceptional dining at affordable price, you will not be disappointed with your booking and resulting food and drink.

Hands down, one of my favourite restaurants in Hastings. Had fantastic meal here! Atmosphere great, service fantastic and food always outstanding! Must try place when in Hastings! We had mussel, skate wing and sea bass, all dishes were very tasty. Cheesecake for dessert was fluffy and moreish! Oh, almost forgot, great wine! Can’t wait to visit again!
Vivika W — Google review
I had a sudden fancy for a Sunday roast and it's difficult to better, or even match St. Clement's. A warm welcome and delicious caraway bread. I then had an excellent chicken liver parfait, an old favourite, tender roast beef and the best ever Yorkshire pudding, washed down with a delicious rose wine. To finish a smooth and creamy lemon posset with apricots, served with limoncello. Friendly and professional service and a reasonable bill for the amount of food served and the superlative quality.
Michael M — Google review
Fantastic experience. Really good service and amazing food. The quality was exceptional. We had the lunch menu. It was excellent and great value for money. Already looking forward to our next visit. Many thanks to the manger who was very friendly and welcoming.
Jacqueline G — Google review
Friendly Staff, carefully curated menu. Was expecting way more for the prices. Some portion sizes were a bit small and some of the cooking i would say lacked attention to detail outside of the fish which was superb...but that should be a given at a 'plaice' like this. Wouldn't actually return - wanted to love it. Shame

The Crown is a gastropub located in the heart of Hastings Old Town, offering a warm and welcoming environment with a mix of locals and visitors. The pub features an imaginative menu that includes small dishes like homemade fish finger sandwiches and larger sustainable options such as roast fillet of pollock. The food is sourced from local producers, ensuring fresh and high-quality ingredients. Additionally, the pub offers craft beer, European wines, and specialist spirits to complement the dining experience.
Visit here during the Easter term break. The young waiter at this restaurant was exceptionally kind and very friendly towards children. When taking an order, he made a special effort to kneel down and speak directly to the child, attentively listening to their request. During a casual chat, he shared that he was born in this city and loves it deeply, which is why he returned here after graduating from university to live. You can truly feel his passion for this place. Not only is the food at this restaurant delicious, but the people here are just as wonderful.
Young Y — Google review
Came here because I walked past exploring the area while visiting for the day and could smell the food being prepared was instantly drawn to the pub. It was starting to get busy and most tables were booked but I was able to grab a space and enjoy a really good fish finger sandwich. Didn’t take long to come out, the chips were banging, the sandwich it self was one of the best fish finger sandwiches I’ve had! The tomato sauce was delicious and I found out it was homemade, tasted like a tomato soup (in my opinion). Good service, lovely people who work here and the atmosphere of the people here a good time. Definitely come if you’re heading to Hastings or if you’ve live here and looking for something new.

It was a decent pub chosen at random as we were visiting Hastings. The food was good, with food choices & served hot once ready to our tables. The staff were very attentive and polite throughout our meal there and it was a real enjoyable evening for us.
Kevan G — Google review
Wonderfully situated pub near the start of All Saint's St. The food options here are excellent with a range of options for anyone. The service is very friendly. We went for the bacon chop option which was a superbly elevated take on gammon and eggs and was truly delicious. There were great seafood options and plenty of other things to choose from. They take card payments and food service is at the time of writing 12-4pm and 5-9pm. Thank you for an excellent time when we visited.

We had a lovely time at The Crown, served by charming and responsible Hugo. We had the coley and the ham with a side of garlic focaccia, none of which left us disappointed. Great selection of drinks with a friendly and convivial atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for good food, a refreshing drink and fantastic service.

If you are visiting Hastings, you have to go to The Crown. During our day out in Hastings, We found this cozy pub just a short walk from the beach, and we really enjoyed the food. We went for the Roast Fillet of Coley with crisp potatoes, paired with Rothaus beer—the food was exquisite. Although we didn’t booked in advance, we were able to find a table. This is a comfortable spot with great food and atmosphere, highly recommended.
Sara O — Google review
A great, quiet and cozy pub in one of the most charming streets in the old town in Hastings. We came for a few drinks but decided to stay for dinner. My main was Honey glazed smoked bacon chop, fried eggs, chips, brown sauce, and my dessert was Pevensey Blue cheese, treacle tart, ginger prune compote. The food was amazing. The bacon chop was a delicious new take on an old time pub classic. The food was full of flavour and and I did not even need to look at the salt and pepper shakers at all. I would advice booking a table ahead for summer time dinners. The pub hosts different events throughout the year, and they had an interesting selection of beers available.
Marek M — Google review
Very friendly gastro-pub near the historic High Street of Hastings. Many beers to choose from, and a better than average pub menu. Tables inside and outside. Quite a lot of local reading material in the window recesses too. Pub is famous for the huge Crown 👑 above the entrance door.

Best Thai food I've had outside of Thailand. I had the mango salad and tofu massaman. Both absolutely delicious. Lovely staff and perfect setting. I went on a quiet Tuesday evening but I'm sure when it's busy it only adds to the experience.
Alice S — Google review
The food was delicious and the service from the waitresses was genuinely lovely. However, I was quite surprised when the bill came to £70 for two people. We only drank water, and the only upgrade was choosing prawns over the standard meat option. While the experience was enjoyable, the price felt quite steep considering the location and setting

Authentic Thai food with a warm & welcoming atmosphere. Recommend the Chicken Satay & Massaman Beef; both fall apart tender, you can taste the time and effort put in for sure! So easy to walk past this little gem of a place with so much character. Had a young waiter on his first day and he did a wonderful job! Maybe only thing missing was some quiet music to play in the background, but other then that, A*! (cash only)

Absolutely incredible food in an incredibly quirky setting. Food was fresh and service was quick. Staff were friendly and welcoming. I'm a fussy eater and don't like spicy food so loved that I could choose how hot I wanted my meal, from mild, medium, hot or Thai hot. Couldn't fault a thing!

What a great little place. Feels a bit like a hidden gem despite it being on the main stretch. The best thai food i’ve had outside of Thailand. Was lovely to chat to the owners too at the end, what a fantastic experience they have created!

Not a cafe but calls itself one, what's the point in having so many books and being a restaurant, who reads while eating dinner? Also the staff were so odd and seemed terrified of the chef, really strange vibes. Also they charge extra for things like ice and each lemon slice, and generally are more expensive than standard for the area

First In Last Out (FILO) is a charming pub located in the heart of Hastings, offering a traditional interior with wooden benches and a central fireplace. The cozy atmosphere includes sleepy dogs, board games, and smiling staff. Unlike typical pubs, FILO serves home-brewed ales, CAMRA-approved suds, and an Indian thali menu. The culinary haven offers elevated British pub classics and gourmet dishes that showcase the chefs' passion for quality ingredients.
I liked FILO so much - I picked FILO randomly on the day I was visiting Hastings and had Sunday roast lunch there. The stuff was so friendly, warm and welcoming. I was accommodated well even I didn’t have the booking on a busy Sunday. The food (Sunday roast) was very tasty and OMG, the toffee pudding dessert 🍮! Do me a favor - you have to try it! It was served warm with all the sweet delightness! If you like to feel the local old town vibe, enjoy a lovely meal and hospitality in Hastings. This is a great place to go! 🪵🔥🍺🍷🍮🍽️🍖🤎

The staff at this restaurant were incredibly friendly. We arrived around 5 PM and learned that food wasn't available yet, but they warmly welcomed us to wait until 6 PM to order. Since our children were a bit tired and hungry from walking, the staff thoughtfully introduced various snacks and drinks to them, helping them find their favorites. Dinner was excellent—the food quality was outstanding! 👍🏻 Other customers were also very kind and friendly toward the children, creating a truly welcoming atmosphere. This meal was the perfect way to conclude our day's journey.

Definitely a favourite in Hastings, huge advantage is if you love real ale, these guys make it themselves just up the road. They usually have 4 of their own ales on hand pump. The food is absolutely fantastic too, with a regularly changing menu and also food theme nights. At the time of writing it's Thai on Mondays and Thali on Thursdays. Food service is 12-3pm and 6-9pm and they take card payments. We opted for pan fried sea bass on a bed of crushed potatoes in a lemon caper sauce and a lovely fish pie. This was followed by an excellent sticky toffee pudding. Highly recommend booking for evening dinner as it gets very busy, but that's just because it's so good!

I just cannot stop thinking about this pub and the roast of a lifetime I had here. Me and my friends fancied a lil jaunt down to the seaside to escape our busy London life and this pub was highly recommended through friends of friends. Walking to the pub, you pass by so many enchanting houses and antiques galore. Once you enter you are met with a delightful ambience. The service was welcoming and kind always making sure we had everything we needed. We ordered four roasts - I had the beef and it was just exceptional. Perfect portion - delicious taste and the vegetables were all perfect! Special shoutout to the cauliflower cheese…and obviously I had to get a desert..so shoutout the sticky toffee pudding - a classic but wowe this one I still dream about. Highly recommend First In Last Out, and hope to visit again with a pale ale and a roast. Also dog-friendly!! Every pooch was on their best behaviour so only good bois’ can be served I suppose. Thank you First In Last Out

The staff here were extremely friendly and helpful. We went there two nights in a row and they remembered what we drank the night before. I had a couple of tasty pints of Harvey's and my mates had some other local beers. Overall, FILO is a great example of a traditional English pub.

Really great place for dinner, with the food so tasty we tucked in before taking any photos. But from the bread to start, through to dessert was a treat for the tastebuds. We had a large plate, two small plates and a side to share between two of us and each was TV. fantastic. Even just a bowl of cabbage was so wonderfully done. The staff are super lovely and given it was my friends birthday they were wonderful in treating us. Booking in advance for busy times is required, which shows just how great this place is. Highly recommended

I don’t normally leave reviews but we had the most lovely time & meal at Farmyard today, we had a Sunday roast, beautifully cooked & want to thank head chef Elliot for a delicious starter, meal & sweet treat to finish off. We were so very well looked after by all staff. I would highly recommend this little gem, thank you so much xxxx

Nibbles very yummy, lovely bread, nuts and charcuterie. Mains not so great, steak too rare and pork flavourless. Front of house staff seem to have no idea what they are doing but the kitchen staff are great. Really liked the interior and overall vibe. Sadly was overcharged

This small hole in the wall, was a beautiful evening all round! 1) book ahead to ensure a table as it was absolutely packed and back to back covers! 2) the atmosphere was lovely very intimate despite being so busy, the decorations inside are lovely and the walls are lined with wine which you can drink and buy! 3) the restaurant is dog friendly so let them know ahead of time and they will make sure you have a table appropriate for your pooches! 4) the food... We tried a bit of each section of the menu and it was all delicious, each dish totally unique and packed with flavour! We had an array of vegetarian, meat and seafood dishes and each one was delicious! We ordered a saussicon platter and some oysters to start and those were so fresh and perfectly balanced. The small plates we ordered 4 and each was a lovely little experience, from fully shelled prawns with their gorgeous sauce, some ceviche that had so much punch we both felt it for hours!! Also my boyfriend said the chips were the best he's ever eaten and we used them to soak up all the sauces across the different dishes! After our 6-7 dishes we were stuffed! Will definitely go back again and would love more people to experience this menu! Really affordable too for you to make sure you get full for your budget! Thanks for the Amazon dinner guys!

Very nice evening at farmyard. Staff managed to fit us in at short notice after we rang. We had oysters, followed by cougette fritters (with creamed cheese) and two specials - lamb belly with truffle potatoes and a seafood (quid & prawns) dish with olives and padron peppers. Lots of wine options, very attentive staff, a great date spot!

Galleria Seafood Bar is a charming restaurant located in St. Leonards, offering an impressive selection of locally sourced and seasonal seafood dishes. Chef Gianluca Tozzi, with his Puglian background, brings a unique touch to the menu and maintains close ties with local fishermen to ensure the freshest catches are served.
Great small local seafood restaurant. We ate tapas style and the dishes were amazing. Oysters were super fresh and tasty, the fried courgettes excellent and the fried seafood really good. Excellent service, only downside was that we booked early (6pm) and sat in the window. Evidently there’s no heating so it was pretty cold. TBF, there were blankets and they did bring a little heater and it did warm up as the kitchen got going, but might worth wearing an extra layer!

What a FABULOUS place!! Loved our evening. From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel so at home. Such a lovely, chilled and relaxed vibe. The food was exceptional! We shared 6 oysters, the grilled asparagus, mackerel pate and then the crab linguine. All washed down with a very nice white wine from the Chef's local region in Italy. Really great husband and husband team 💚 HIGHLY recommend. Special shout to the young lady working there, who's name I didn't get. Genuinely excited and interested in you enjoying your food and having a wonderful evening.

A delicious experience! The service is warm welcoming and knowledgeable. The Chef has a great palette! Fresh quality produce and a good wine list. A must go Restaurant for lunch or dinner. Book in advance for this Gem In Hastings More from the website Galleria opened in August 2020. It was the dream of owners Gianluca Tozzi & Jack Booth to create a small local restaurant and bar for seafood enthusiasts. Chef Gianluca has brought all his skills from the coast in Puglia, Italy, to the local seaside where he has for a number of years built personal relationships with the fishermen and women of Hastings. The menu at Galleria frequently changes to reflect the seasonality of the local catch. We believe this is incredibly important, not only as Galleria is based a stones throw from the oldest beach- launched fishing fleet in Europe, but also to sustainably support the local industry. Our wines are carefully selected to compliment our fish and seafood menu. They are all European and the list changes in line with the seasons. Galleria is a small, intimate space, designed in a simple contemporary style allowing the food and wine to take centre stage. Galleria was listed in “The Good Food Guides Platinum List 2021” - Best Newcomers…one of 18 restaurants in the UK to be included.

Fantastic food and atmosphere! Fresh juicy oysters. Would recommend the au naturel as they really need minimum toppings to enjoy. Mussels were big and so tender. Fish of the day was perfectly cooked, flaky with a crispy skin and vegetables seasoned just right. I am not a big fan of caramel but the salted caramel cheesecake had no faults. Great combination with the kashews on top. The Peccorino was refreshing and bright. Was looking for somewhere to eat after the Seven sisters walk from Seaford to Eastbourne and travelled to Hastings because of the reviews for this place - it did not disappoint! It's a small place so I would recommend to book in advance.

Absolutely lush. This was my 2nd time ever eating Oysters. I was nervous. But i can tell you now, it was excellent. And im so glad i chose to try it again. The welcome breadsticks, the starters, the fish, the wine was just perfect. and my little birthday dessert that my friend organised with the manager was super cute. Thank you for fitting us in for dinner. We were there for a few days for my birthday and we got lucky without reserving earlier. We chose to eat here becoz we overheard another couple step out of the restaurant saying "well that was delicious". 🤣

Three Faces of Del Parc is a charming tapas restaurant located in St Leonards, known for its intimate atmosphere and delectable Spanish-inspired dishes. The menu features an array of tantalizing options such as aubergine with chili and mint, Iberico jamon croquetas, and wine-soaked king prawns. The chef's menu allows diners to simply communicate any dietary requirements or allergies before being treated to a delightful tapas feast.
We've been coming to Del Parc in its different guises and locations for over 15 years now. It was the favourite restaurant to celebrate anniversaries etc of some dear departed friends as well as ours also and so it holds very special memories. When somewhere has that kind of importance in your life a visit always comes with expectations, especially now as it requires an overnight stay. We've just never been let down in all those years: the food evolves but is consistently exciting, tasty and special with a reliable old favourite dish too. The service is friendly and relaxed and the ambiance is uniquely theirs. It may not be your thing but it's always been the ambiance they've created and for us its always comforting to share the experience that they create here. We will continue to make the effort to come here for as long as they're open. This is one of those rare and unique places and we love it.

We visited with friends last week and had such a wonderful time. The food was truly out of this world, even something as simple as olives was taken to another level, with each one individually stuffed to create an explosion of flavour! We have family in Spain and visit every year, but the tortilla here was hands down the best we’ve ever had. In fact, the tapas in general were better than any we’ve tried in Spain, delicate, simple, and yet so well thought out. The chef clearly has an incredible palate for bold, punchy flavours. We loved it so much that we returned the following week with family, and it lived up to everything we had told them about our first visit. The owner is warm, welcoming, and accommodating, a true one-man band who managed food, drinks, service, and clearing tables with absolute grace, all while still finding the time to chat. This is one of the very few places in a long time that has ticked every single box for us. We’re so pleased to have discovered it. Thank you both for such an exceptional experience we can’t wait to return!

This was such a great experience! Top quality ingredients cooked with knowledge and love. It’s 1 Spanish menu, so no choice or decisions to make, created with seasonal produce, creative, comforting and so delicious. Excellent, smiling and efficient service. Congratulations to the whole team and we’re already planning our next visit!

This place just gets better! We have eaten at the three faces of delparc a few times now over the years and the food and experience it just gets better! If I had the choose my favourite part of the meal… it might be the amazing olives and cheese to start, my other half would say it was the perfectly cooked rye bay scallops. Honestly the food has always been amazing here but they seem to tweak it and the dishes are better every time (except the olives have always been outstanding) It’s not just about the food though, the music is special too, it transports you to a sunny climate so you feel like you’re on holidays somewhere that it doesn’t rain horizontally. If you haven’t been, book, if you have been before book again, it’s a real gem!

A great dining experience from start to finish. We had the best orange-stuffed olives and cheese, croquettes, amazing pork with an apple sauce, some of the best fish with a wild garlic pesto, tiger prawns, and the most incredible basque-style cheesecake. It was a really nice amount of food at a great value. Plus, a nice cocktail & wine selection, including non-alcoholic option.
Heather E — Google review
Everything was fresh and really very very VERY good. Be aware they most dishes are bit overpriced (16 gbp for four prawns..), and you don’t have the choice on what you get, so you end up around 60 / person with half bottle of wine and half a dessert.Given quality it is worth it. Meal took two hours from start to finish, so definitely for a convivial evening, not a quick (or cheap) bite.

Fish & chips restaurant
Seafood restaurant
Maggie's Fish & Chips is a popular seaside destination for enjoying delicious fish and chips at lunchtime and dinner. Located on the Stade in Hastings shingle beach, it offers a picturesque setting overlooking Europe's largest beach-launched fishing fleet. The restaurant sources its cod and haddock directly from the fish market underneath it, ensuring fresh and high-quality seafood. The light batter-coated pearly fish and double-fried crisp, floury chips are highly praised by visitors.
I think it is a must have place, a fish restaurant in the historic fishermen area of the old city. There are many fish and chips places around, but I chose this as it was top rated. Indeed, I liked it. Sat at the balcony with the sea view. Got the catch of the day (plaice and huss), dish size was great, fish was fresh and tasty. Facilities are clean. Girls are serving the guests well and doing their best. However it is a super busy place with a large flow of tourists, so book beforehand!!!

Busy Saturday lunch time but we managed to get a table for 2 on the balcony. Watch out for the seagulls though! Service was efficient and friendly. Food was big portions, tasty chips (though too crispy for my co-diner) and a lovely fresh piece of fish.

Dear Friends and Google Reviews Community. This is about our visit today, our findings and our experience. We arrived around 1300 with no booking and asked if there was a table for 3 of which they could accommodate. We ordered two double sausage beans and chips and his Lordship the Lord of Darkness had a cod like that wasn't a shocker ! With chips and a coffee, sure he is an addict of coffee ! The meals all arrived piping hot and I mean hot, his cod look very big on his plate of chips and was subsequently demolished as if the end of the world was nigh For our visit the service was fine no issues, the food very hot and fresh, no issues, perhaps bigger mugs for coffee for the addict ! But didn't detract from a pleasant visit, it represented value for money and whilst you can't please everyone and everyone is entitled to their opinions our visit was fine and based on our experience it got 5 stars We can recommend for our visit today

To all the Fish and Chips lovers, Maggie's Fish & Chips in Hastings in a hidden gem. My husband and I were in the area and decided to venture out to this shop based on the reviews I read online. If you're driving, you won't find it by GPS, you will need to park in the paid parking lot and walk to find the shop. It is conveniently located on the 1st floor accross from the beach. The view is insane. They offer fresh "Catch of the Day" and all items are cooked to order. We ordered the calamari (delicious). It was so good I ordered another portion. The bummer is that it comes with only 4 pieces. It is served in a fresh bed of mixed greens with a slight vinaigrette dressing. The calamari were lightly breaded and very soft and tender. My husband who don't eat calamari, enjoyed it thoroughly. I wanted a 3rd portion but was told that all of the calamari was done 😔. Our server was a nice elder woman who was very attentive to our dining needs. There's outdoor seating but be mindful of the seagulls flying around...lol. We were able to get a nice table with the ocean view. We ordered the Monk fish which come with chips and tartar sauce. My husband got a side of mushy peas, which I enjoyed surprisingly because they're usually bland in taste, but not at Maggie's. Total cost: 2 Monk fish meals, mushy peas, 1 extra order of chips, 2 calamari, 1 order of haddock, 2 drinks (cider & apple juice) = £81

The BEST fish and chips I have ever had - spoilt for choice in the area but we were so glad we landed here. Didn’t even season the chips as it was so tasty and the cod and haddock were outstanding. Definitely worth a visit!

One of the best fish and chips we ever had, great quality of fish and lots of variety, check out the catch of the day off menu. The fish coating is very light so you can really enjoy the fish and it's light too.

The fish at Maggie’s is a hit! I'd give it more stars if it were possible :) Delicious food, especially fresh and very tasty, the fries are perfectly made, all thanks to the chef, the portions are huge, the service is very polite, and the prices are very good. Definitely worth a visit, I'll definitely be a frequent visitor 😘

Had a really delicious and enjoyable meal there last night. There was a very tempting range of dishes, including lamb and duck. Sunday lunchtime at the Rock a Nore Kitchen was a joy. We were lucky to walk in and get a table - booking recommended - for an excellent meal on Hastings Old Town seafront. We shared a white bait starter followed by the special skate wing and a cod Sicilian carbonara. Wonderfully fresh fish, great flavours and all paired with a delicious bottle of Sancere. Thank you to the wonderful chef owner and kind server for fuelling us up for exploring Hastings. Please like this review if you find it helpful.

We enjoyed a delightful Sunday lunch in mid-December. Indulged in delicious, hassle-free cuisine—each dish and side dish nicely cooked and bursting with flavour. The unassuming fish and chips presented with a plump, flaky fillet of fish that had been swimming in the sea just a few hours earlier. The friendly service added to the overall positive experience. What a gem! We look forward to returning for more culinary delights.

Outstanding little private restaurant. Service was impeccable and the chalkboard menu did not disappoint (I've every faith it changes with the days catch!). We had scallops and potted crab to start, rack of lamb and hake for mains and panna cotta and chocolate torte for dessert. Everything was delicious. Cannot recommend this place enough, but BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL. It's a very small place (25 covers as far as I could tell) so I can imagine walk ins get lucky very often. The bill was not cheap, but we were happy to pay for the quality we received. We'll be back for sure.

Terrible. I visited this place after viewing a house nearby (which I now live in) and endured an absolutely horrific experience. It started when I began choking on a fish pâté that was unexpectedly filled with bones — no warning, no indication, until it was too late. The bones caused internal bleeding in my throat. In a panic, I rushed to the toilet to try and remove them, only to be met by staff who were frantically panicking themselves, repeatedly telling me they’d never seen anything like it — as if I had! It was terrifying, traumatic, and ended with me spending the rest of the day and night in A&E. I was so hungry I ended up eating the free cheesecake the café gave me… which unfortunately just tasted like grease and oil. While the staff did cover the bill, I strongly recommend urgent training in food safety and emergency response. This situation could have been so much worse.

In the Old Town earlier than usual, so just popped in for a coffee but then crumpets were calling. Delicious! This is our favourite lunch spot in Hastings. We particularly like the Dhal of the Day. Lots of variations on this and they're all great, just like their Soup of the Day. They also do a great chowder, a bean chilli, hearty sandwiches on good quality bread - and the rest. A brunch menu favourite is mushrooms on toast. (It's just mushrooms on a piece of toast - except it's not!). It's all just unfussy, real food made by somebody who knows what they are doing. The people are also really lovely too, and that's what makes the place. The owner is nearly always there looking after everyone and the staff are welcoming, warm-hearted and helpful. What more could you want?

We were a party of ten, yes, ten! It was a birthday celebration and none of us had ever eaten in this restaurant before. We booked up well before, and communication (email) with the restaurant was rapid, very good and clear as well. We arrived at 7.45pm to find our table beautifully prepared, and the restaurant FULL to the rafters! In response to an email request for what people might like to eat, because we were such a large party, our starters were rapidly served. The starters pleased everyone, and the main courses were an absolute delight too. We drank both white and red wine, and a couple of guys had a beer too. The atmosphere in this venue was excellent, the service superb, and all the staff were bearing smiles, it was immaculately clean, fresh looking with great decor - it just felt so welcoming and cosy! My wife and I are definitely going to return, and soon!

Lovely and quaint little Filipino restaurant, which out of all the ones we've been to in my food outings, this has given me the most homely feeling out of all. I’ve been here 3 times in the past 3 months and I live in California! First I must compliment the owner for hiring really great staff who are so friendly and attentive. The owner herself has such a passion for what she is doing and has recommended such delicious wines to go with our dinner choices. The food is outstanding, menu changes frequently but just wow! Each and every visit has been a wow. Last night I had smoked haddock and cod croquette, homemade spaghetti with meatballs, smoked salmon and a Mediterranean plate with dips and pita. They have a wonderful selection of wines and sherries. Will be back on my next visit!
Maria L — Google review
The service was appalling. We waited for a long time to get our drinks order and when the owner came round to take our order, she was sarcastic and defensive rather than apologetic. We had to fight to get any attention or even the bill at the end. The staff were more attentive to another customer’s dog than to us, paying customers. We didn’t even get asked about dessert or whether we had enjoyed the food. The staff seemed to completely ignore other customers if they weren’t personal friends of theirs. Even though the food is good and the atmosphere is ok, we had a really tense and unpleasant experience - I would not recommend to anyone until this place learns basics about customer service.

Superb food wine located in a quirky seaside gallery. Great selection of charcuterie and cheeses. I particularly enjoyed the trout pate and sourdough toast which was superb. Amazing fresh food, we enjoyed burrata, bread their own cured salmon and merguez sausage which where all superb, but the menu is diverse with loads of choices. The wine selection is also great. Staff are fab, knowledgeable, friendly but totally approacable. Can't recommend highly enough, great place, lovely food and ace drinks.

Such a great café. The food was so so delicious and the staff super nice and friendly. Every dish for lunch was the perfect portion, and we had the Guinness cake to take away as it looked (and tasted) so good. Will definitely be back!!

The cafe is cozy and nice. I walked in 1 hour before the closing time to eat food and to they did not disappoint. The onion soup was heavenly and tasty. Coffee was great and the staff were so lovely. Highly recommend.

This has to be described as very real cafe. Staff are welcoming and friendly, the atmosphere relaxed. A good choice of food and snacks. Well worth the uphill walk from the sea front. We only had cake and coffee but would happily return to enjoy their food.

Delicious food, great service, lovely location and atmosphere. I have been here for a brunch on a Saturday morning and was really impressed with the overall experience. The food was delicious I had smoked salmon with scrambled eggs on sourdough toast and it was superb. My girlfriend had deluxe cheese on toast and it again was delicious. Great friendly service the coffee is very good quality too, with non dairy options. Good menu too with plenty of choices. Highly recommended and I can't wait to return

Great atmosphere, amazing choice of music and lovely people first time here with my dad had a great hot chocolate and cheesecake. I couldn’t possibly have gone to a better café

Best start to our Hastings trip! Great music, perfect service and above perfect cake and coffee. We had the chocolate fudge cake and sweet potato meringue. Both were absolutely amazing! Definitely a must if you’re ever in the area.

What a wonderful cafe. I'm sat writing this while sat eating the best piece of bakewell tart I've ever had - and yes, I used to live near Bakewell itself, and have tried the original stuff many times. The friendliest, softest-spoken man serves everyone with such charm. The place is clean, tidy, and not badly priced either (3.10 for a latte these days is pretty much a bargain). A cafe Hastings has needed for years. Go here.

Bagel shop
Sleeper is a bagel store located on Kings Road that has gained popularity for its delicious and unique bagel offerings. The store is known for deploying locally cured Pigsmith salt beef in their bagels, which has become a favorite among visitors. Customers have praised the quality and taste of the bagels, particularly highlighting the smoked salmon and cream cheese option as one of the best they have ever tasted.
Bagels are absolutely amazing, me and my bf are still talking about them days later. Normally now when we go out for food we complain that eating out is always overpriced for quality below that of what we could make at home, but these bagels were ACE. 10/10. Place is a bit small for the crowds they get but it's understandable given how nice the bagels are. Maybe a bin nearer to the door as well as the counter could help keep tables a tiny bit tidier.
Rosamund G — Google review
Outstanding bagels. The bagels are the real deal. Fillings are generous and well balanced. I had the cream cheese + salmon + crispy capers 💚 bagel. Not cheap but this is not your average sandwich. We came here for breakfast on a Monday and it was pretty quiet. Nice decor, clean toilets.

DO NOT SLEEP ON SLEEPER! The bagels we got here were perhaps the culinary highlight of our time at Hastings! Lovely fresh bagels to be had at 8:30, their fresh Parmesan ones were delightful. Got 3 full Monty’s to fill our group up for breakfast, everyone had audible reactions to how delicious it was. Definitely go

Honestly one of the best bagels I’ve had. The salt beef was INSANE. The beef crust elevates it to a god like status. Without a doubt I will be back.

Great bagel cafe....service was quick and friendly, and the bagel was absolutely amazing. Good coffee too
Amanda M — Google review
Couldn’t resist the hype and recommendations that came with this bagel place and it did not disappoint at all. Ordered coffees as standard (all were great) but the star of the show was the egg and salmon (went seeded) bagel that was full and to die for! Everything that you would like in a bagel. Our party also had a cinnamon and Nutella bagel which was very sweet but as expected. As a super nice treat the worker gave our 2 year old a free custard ice cream which she devoured and loved! 5 stars doesn’t do it justice! Must go here

I'm addicted!!! No visit to St Leonard's is complete without a bagel at this gem of a place. Get ready to wear your bagel as it's filled to the rim with delicious ingredients. I always choose the everything bagel which is filled with yummy seeds. 😀 Delish.

We normally don't repeat a restaurant when on holiday but last night we had the best meal of our whole trip and decided to go again tonight, or last night in Hastings and now it's hard to decide which night was better. I guarantee anything you order will be better than you expect. Sophie, Hamish and Alexandra provided us with excellent service and the Chef should have at least one Michelin Star.

The best restaurant at the coast of Hastings! The service was very friendly, all the staff present were so helpful with us, like Alexandra especially as a big walk-in table on a Saturday afternoon, they were very welcoming As for the food, everything was so delicious and filling, they have a wide choice of meals so there is something for everyone, they also had quite a few gluten-free options expanding their palette. I had the seafood risotto and it was so flavoursome, the drinks aswell were beautifully presented! You can tell that everyone here works hard which is greatly appreciated, wish we lived closer to the area so we can come back more often! Definitely worth a visit

Wow! My partner and I came here for lunch and had such a fantastic experience. We were greeted at the door by Delphine — genuinely one of the friendliest people we’ve ever met — which set the tone for the visit straight away. The space was spotless, welcoming, and had a calm, relaxed atmosphere. Service was quick and attentive, and Delphine gave us some excellent recommendations. We ordered the ribeye steak with Diane mushrooms on the side — and wow, the food did not disappoint. The steak was perfectly cooked, tender, and melted in our mouths, while the rich, indulgent mushrooms paired beautifully with it. The portion of mushrooms was big enough for us both to share. The prices here are incredible for the quality you get. £17 for steak, chips, and sauce is almost unheard of — especially for meat this good. Overall, we had an amazing lunch and will absolutely be returning next time we’re in Hastings. Huge thanks to the Two Bulls team for such a great experience!

Absolutely brilliant place. If you're around, do not miss it for anything. Amazing food, lovely staff, and overall just a brilliant experience. We had chicken satay skewers and a beef burger. Both cooked incredibly well and served with amazing chips. If you're not too full from the generous servings, try the banoffee dessert. One of the best places I've ever been, and shockingly good value for the quality of the cooking.

Top class. I don't normally do a review, but this experience deserves a mention. My wife and l, had the Rump steak, it was without a doubt, the best steak meal we have ever had. Followed with Key lime pie for my wife and roasted peanut banoffee pie for me, both were to die for. Top all that with first class friendly service. All l can say is, if your in Hastings do yourself a favour and go give them a go, you won't regret it.

The Two Bulls Steakhouse in Hastings, UK was some of the best food we’ve had on our trip yet. And can you believe they had key lime pie? Of course, being the connoisseur and baker of my home turf dessert, I had to try it. It didn’t use key limes but it was tart enough to mimic, used a biscuit crust, and had a texture similar to our Cuban flan. Served with sweet whipped cream (as it should) and chocolate curls, it was DELICIOUS!! My burger rocked, too. 🍔 #hastings @twobullssteakhouse ✨✨✨

Been a while since our last family visit, as was a favourite place to come for family birthday 🎂 days. Came for my daughters 18th bit late in the evening but looking forward to a nice family dinner. Menu options weren't too bad good selection all round . Didn't have to wait too long for food. Wasn't what we remembered, few issues but nothing major, might try something else next time. Only issue was really sticky and heard other dinners saying the same thing . Found the staff abit laid back aswell.
Clive G — Google review
Place is filthy. Table (64) was so sticky so I asked a staff member if he could give it a wipe down which he did, but the attached photos are AFTER he wiped it down. It took me using several anti bacterial wipes to stop getting filth on them. The place is in desperate need of a makeover. We were seated next to a tatty looking wall that needs a good paint. Just felt dirty sitting in there but we had already ordered the food at the bar before I discovered how dirty the table was. Food was actually pleasant enough and reasonably priced. Only the calamari starter was very greasy. Just praying the kitchen staff clean their work surfaces a lot better than the waiting staff as I hate to think my food was being prepared or stored in an unhygienic setting. Soft play needs a good clean too. There’s just no excuse for having restaurant tables that dirty.
Dolly J — Google review
Cheap food and poor service here. Had dinner as part of the meal deal package while staying at the premier inn. We felt like we were an inconvenience to the staff and everything seemed like hard work. The staff bringing the food out were the exception and actually seemed to want to be there. Food was mediocre, at best. I had a smothered platter and the cheese “smothering” it was just a square of processed cheese melted on top. Desserts were ok. Probably better to go to the McDonald’s over the road.
Nick B — Google review
The Custoner Service we experienced on both the Saturday and Sunday of our stay was exceptional. It should be the gold-standard. I sm gluten-free and the staff cooked a freshly prepared breakfast even though they had a lot of other customers. My partner had the buffet breakfast and commented that it was still freshly cooked as there had been such a footfall of customers on the Sunday morning.

Our first time visiting this Brewers Fayre and can honestly say we will definitely be going back. The food was lovely and the service we received from what I assume was the head of house, Angie, was amazing! We didn’t book but she found a table for our party and was very helpful throughout our meal. Thank you Brewers Fayre The Windmill.

Josh Jack and Amos made my time here amazing. I have been here for two weeks and I feel like I have made life long friends. Amazing service and will be telling my company to book my hotel to this one just to come and eat here.
Lee C — Google review
Waited 15 minutes to order food and then an hour for it to arrive! Food was just about edible temperature but definitely not hot. Very short staffed and we're eventually told this was why food took so long. Used to like this place but it has definitely gone down hill over recent years. I do object to being called 'darling' when I'm a customer - it's too familiar to say that to customers. The Windmill needs a better staffing level.to ensure customers do not wait. One person at bar should be taking food orders and someone else drinks only orders. Sadly, we will not be returning as it's not the first bad experience in recent times. Bring back table service - it would solve many problems. Apparently there was a staff shortage in kitchen this time - but we had.to chase whereabouts of food and were not kept informed.

Nestled in the heart of Hastings, Bay Spice is a delightful curry house that promises an unforgettable dining experience. With a menu that features both classic Indian dishes and some unique options like salmon and duck, there's something to satisfy every palate. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it perfect for family gatherings or special occasions. Guests rave about the attentive service; even during busy times, the staff goes above and beyond to ensure everyone feels welcomed—remembering names and offering thoughtful gestures like chocolates for kids.
We dined at this restaurant on New Year’s Eve and couldn’t fault a thing. The atmosphere was vibrant and bustling, yet the service remained fantastic and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious, I opted for the lamb curry, which was incredibly succulent and flavorful, perfectly cooked to melt in your mouth. A memorable way to ring in the new year!

This Bangladeshi restaurant also serves Indian dishes, and our experience was a bit mixed. We ordered Chicken Tikka, Malai Tikka, Papad, Chicken Tikka Masala, Bhuna Chicken, and Naan. While the Bhuna Chicken, Naan, and Papad were quite enjoyable—and the mango chutney was especially tasty—the chicken dishes felt a bit underwhelming and chewy. The Chicken Tikka Masala, in particular, had an unusually intense red color, likely from excessive food coloring, which affected the overall appeal. Service was slow—it took more than 30 minutes for the food to arrive. While the pricing was on the higher side, the quality didn’t quite match up. Hoping for a better experience next time.

We were so glad we walked 20 minutes from our car park to have dinner here. Old fashion attention to detail customer service from the moment we walked in to leaving at the end. Service was quick and efficient. As for the food it was superb throughout. In fact our teen son, swore he didn't want to eat there when we sat down, 11th hour decided to order with us, in the end declared it was the best curry meal he had ever! Now that's a seal of approval.

We were a party of thirteen, four of whom were little children, and here for Grandad's birthday celebration. On arrival we were given a very friendly welcome and a beautifully laid out table. This restaurant has a wonderful interior with a great ambience even when not so busy. The waiters were so patient in dealing with this fairly unruly, loud group, and managed to get orders and initial drinks sorted out in quick and efficient order. The food proved to be marvellous, and was appreciated by all; the little ones enjoyed tasting the adults food, even the very spicy dishes!. We all vowed to come back soon; the Christmas menu did look very tempting!

Tips options can be seen when you pay your bill which i exercised as everything was great dining experience. The location is splendid as its along the seafront. We ordered a takeaway the other night and the friendly staff at Bay Spice couldn't have been more helpful. We ordered through just eat which was a nightmare with no couriers picking up the food but not giving us or the restaurant any updates, however when we rung Bay Spice they offered to remake the order and drop if off themselves which was with us within 30 mins max, boiling hot and delicious. Exceptional service from them, will definitely be making the trip down to the restaurant next time!

Food was amazing. Pity about the attitude of some staff and atmosphere it created though. From the time we arrived at the restaurant where there were probabaly 2 other groups, 3 at most, we felt we were being rushed/pressured. Half Man! Half Burger is a renowned burger joint located on the South coast, offering high-quality burgers made with ethically sourced meats and served in brioche buns. The restaurant provides excellent service and allows customers to dine in or take away their meals to enjoy at the beach. With its first location established in Hastings/St Leonards in July 2015, it later expanded to Eastbourne in December 2016. Plans for a third site are also underway.
We were a bit early for our booking (which I highly recommend you do) so sat outside and had a few beers and cocktails before moving out of the cold inside to our table. The burger selecting is vast, and all sounded amazing. They also do some different styles of fries, cajun, rosemary, dirty and we had it all. Food was great, staff friendly and service quick. Highly recommended.

Big up Half Man Half Burger, this is the one. Smokestack burger is off chops , the caramalised onion is another level. Fries game leaves everyone else in the dust. top Gs. 10/10 would be putting it nicely.

We came here on the spur of the moment one Saturday for a late lunch. The staff were accommodating and friendly and we were able to choose where we sat inside. There were a few options on the menu for burgers, vegetarian/vegan burgers and fries and sides. The choices all looked really nice, I had the chilli burger which was full of flavour and shared rosemary fries. Really delicious food and a great place to stop for lunch on the sea front. I also liked the black and white mural on the inside of the restaurant as it provided a unique and goofy atmosphere and there was lots to look at.

Authentic atmosphere and friendly service. I highly recommend the voodoo fries as they were the highlight of the meal! Only issue may be the busyness so I would avoid going a peak time like 6pm or 1 pm. I went at around 5pm however and we got a table!
Heidi G — Google review
Granted they got absolutely slammed last evening, but, that didn't alter the fact they were severely understaffed, including a lovely girl serving who was working her 1st night I think. " I'll be with you in 10 seconds" doesn't cut it if you leave clients waiting for 10 minutes, left sitting on a bench out in the cold. It took no less than 1.5hours from the time we arrived to the time we got our food. Even then, the awful fries arrived as we were finishing our burgers. This is not a slick , well organized operation. The food itself was just OK, my burger was barely warm which suggests it had been sitting around the kitchen for too before being served. The chips were a mixed batch of 2 different types of fries and were too soggy. No offer of reducing the bill, or shouting us a drink with would have eased some angst. I'm sure it could be very good if the food came out of the kitchen much faster and they had a better plan for those waiting. I felt for the poor new girl who was getting grumpy stares from every angle and was pleasant and as engaging as she could be. Not her fault. Until they get those basic problems properly sorted, steer well clear.

We had a birthday lunch here for our teenage son and what a great place. We arrived at the beginning of lunch and within 30 minutes the place was full - so a lovely atmosphere. Staff and service were quick and super friendly. Then there are the burgers…just wow. Easily the best I have ever eaten. The whole family loved their meal. Would absolutely return. Thanks to the whole team for creating such a fab experience.

We had been here before and the burgers were great, specifically the gonzo with the whisky bbq. We expected similar quality this time but it just wasnt that good. The fries were the best part. It used to be worth the 14£ per burger, but I don’t think the quality or the taste is worth the money anymore.

Very good burgers and chips in a very small restaurant. Fair prices. We tried the cheese burger and it was excellent, especially the meat and the bun. Also the Christmas edition of cole slaw. Lovely food, but service was so poor. The waiters didn’t introduce themselves and we had to go up to them and ask for a table and menus. The food itself was really nice. Dumplings were cooked to perfection, although I would have liked abit more. The curry goat was nice and had flavour to it. My brother said the oxe tail was nice aswell. Overall I was impressed with the restaurant, a few changes to the waiters and this place would score highly.

This is by far the most fabulous African Caribbean restaurant which I have ever been to so far Goat curry was not only tender but deliciously tasty with just the right amount of spice In fact all the meats were stunning The fish was perfect meaty and moist The imported Nigerian Guinness and punch was the perfect match for such a spicy tasty meal Thank you Jerry and your crew We shall return Unfortunately I totally forgot to take any snaps of this one as I was lost in taste @livedancecreate #LDC

I visited their pop up store today down on the beach near goat’s ledge and ordered the jollof rice with stew beans and plantain. It was so tasty! The rice was my favourite bit but everything was done very well. And the people serving seemed friendly and welcoming. I 100% recommend.

What a great restaurant! The service was amazing, the food is so full of flavour and tastes really homemade. Not to mention the lovely sweets you get with the bill! Thanks so much! We’ll be back! Special thanks to the girl who I scared when she thought we were 8! Sorry 😂

The ambiance is enhanced by book-lined walls, creating an inviting atmosphere for patrons to enjoy their treats while perusing through various literary works.
On our trip down from London, we stumbled across this oasis. Such a cosy atmosphere, we felt like we could spend hours here alone. The coffee was well blended and perfectly presented with a Biscoff biscuit (on the house). Go Here.

Came here recently on a rainy afternoon. Scrumptious baked goods and superb coffee. The interior of wall-to-wall (and floor to ceiling) books is out of this world! Great atmosphere overlooking a pedestrian street that is full of quaint shops. Absolutely worth a visit!

Rude staff (long brown hair in pony tail) upon arrival I ordered food and coffees when asked where I was sitting I said there were no clean tables (4 tables had dirty plates on) and was told to sit down and she would clean the table when she brings the food over. So I cleaned the table my self. I then waited 45 mins for a salad and a panini , I had a 3 year old child with me and had I have been informed it would be that long of a wait I would have gone else where. On the plus side the other lady working there was very apologetic and friendly and gave me a few free coffee cards as a gesture of good will. Sadly I won’t be returning to this coffee shop

Love this restaurant! Went twice in our 2-night stay in Hastings. Soft shell crab burger was my favorite. Special and yummy! Very welcoming and friendly staff!

Had the clam chowder, mussels, smoked salmon, sweet potato fries and onion rings. Portion for onion rings was like 5 or 6. Mussels and chowder were nice. The apple and horseradish creme fraiche was very bland for the salmon dish. Hate to say but service wasn't great, and actually quite slow (not much comms from the team). Very average experience overall.

Ice cream shop
Coffee shop
Tucked away on George Street, Di Pola's is a beloved ice cream parlour that has become a staple in Hastings. This charming spot is renowned for its rich and creamy Italian gelato, crafted fresh on-site by passionate owners who frequently introduce exciting new flavors like passionfruit, honeycomb, and the ever-popular Oreo. The texture of their ice cream is delightfully smooth and whippy, making each scoop an indulgent treat.
It's a very hot day, so ice cream was melting very quickly, but it tasted authentic and rich in flavour. Staff were very nice and professional, saw me have a dog and quickly refilled the water bowl outside, well done 👏.

With an abundance of ice cream shops in the area, I relied upon google reviews and this did not let me down. Our order was 2 scoop (why not) of Oreo and Honeycomb and 1 scoop salted caramel. All 3 flavours were excellent and top quality. £4:40 for the 2 scoop is pretty decent also. Highly recommend dropping in when around Hastings
Sam T — Google review
Hands down the BEST ice cream in Hastings and quite possibly the UK. All lovingly made fresh on sight, you may even see the genius himself hard at work creating delicious new flavours for you. My favourite flavours are always the nutty ones - Pistachio, Salty Peanut and more. But you really cannot go wrong. (They will allow you a taster or two if you are really struggling to make a choice) Having lived in Hastings my entire life, I remember when they first opened years ago, I highly recommend this spot to any and all visitors of the area, you will dream about this delicious ice cream. I often visit on a cold rainy day, because really there are no rules when it comes to enjoying ice cream by the seaside. Watch out for the gulls if you are going to walk with your cone 🍦
LiziiBear — Google review
Friendly service, lovely ladies serving. Pistachio is ALWAYS out of stock when I visit sadly. Ice cream made in house which is both rare and also a treat as you can see the machines when you walk in. Accept both card and cash payments. Extras (candy) are overpriced in my opinion.

Nestled conveniently across from the Blue Reef Aquarium and just a stone's throw from Hastings' beautiful beachfront, Undercliffe House has been delighting seafood lovers since its establishment in 2003. This charming eatery offers an impressive menu brimming with fresh, sustainable fish sourced locally through traditional methods. Diners rave about the delectable seafood linguini and the standout moules, which have garnered praise for their exceptional flavor.
Best food, service and atmosphere my family had in a long time! Attention to detail with the dishes (ingredients locally sourced) was second to none and owner Andy and waitress made us feel so welcome. Calamari was best I ever had and the monkfish and sea bass daily specials were delicious. Cannot recommend enough!
Tom T — Google review
Was there to dine alone. They gave me a window seat where I can enjoy the seabreeze as well as my dinner🫶🏻 I ordered a local sea bass for main and all of it was so delicious. The sauté potatoes were crispy outside and soft inside (just like the texture of mashed potatoes). The sea bass were marinated with parsley and garlic butter, the marinade did not take away the flavour of the sea bass, it was balanced so well that I can taste the freshness of the sea bass and also the flavour they added. With the salad, I thought it was just a normal salad. But nope, there were cucumbers, bell peppers, green leaves, cherry tomatoes cooked to perfect ripeness. It was also extra kind for the restaurant to have given me crispy squid on the side🫶🏻 The squid was SO FRESH, not just soft (like the frozen ones). Perfect!
Winnie Y — Google review
You've tried the rest, now try the best! In my view this is by far and away the best fish orientated restaurant in Hastings. You can tell that the fish is really fresh from the amazing flavours and textures, and the fact that the menu is regularly changed and updated, especially the specials board, depending on what's been caught that morning. The venue is situated opposite the Shipwreck Museum and has minimal external signage, so you could easily miss it when going past (refer to my picture to help you identify it). Friendly staff provide a great service. You can watch your food being prepared and cooked if you want to! The chef also comes out to either serve or to have a chat.

Fish & chips restaurant
Fast food restaurant
Mermaid Fish & Chips Restaurant in Hastings offers really good fish and chips that are well-cooked and fresh to order. Despite the slightly smaller portion sizes, the medium serving is adequate for those with a large appetite. The prices are fair considering the challenges faced by fish and chip shops due to increased costs. It's highly recommended for takeaway, especially for enjoying a meal on the beach.
Have visited several times and this place never disappoints. Staff always around and very attentive. Food cooked amazingly, chips cooked to perfection. Generous portion of fish, worth spending more here. Calamari cooked well, tender and breadcrumbs crispy.

Not the cheapest fish and chips in Hastings but it was not the most expensive either. Indoor and outdoor seating, freshly cooked and a decent serving size. Flaky and tender fish and their curry sauce is nice too.
Louis T — Google review
Very fresh fish & chips even for a Sunday. Good and quick service, children friendly. Toilets clean enough - mixed. Offer take away too. Good location just facing the main beach front.
Julia L — Google review
Sweet little place but they left scales on the fish before frying. The fish itself was fine but I was eating the skin for a bit before I realised it was not nice at all. I feel like descaling fish is the norm at any seafood restaurant. The mushy peas were really dull in flavour. We ordered the mixed seafood platter - it seemed quite small for the price. The chips were good/ fine. The rest of the food was fine. I don't think I will be returning again. The staff were perfectly fine.
Gloria W — Google review
The food is very expensive, but they do give you decently sized portions. The chips were very plain and tasted of nothing but they were fresh and hot. The fish was relatively nice and very hot and fresh but i found the skin was not nice at all and we not de-scaled very well. The service was very nice with lovely workers, even greeting you when you walk in. The atmosphere is also very nice, a small, a peaceful setting by the beach with seating inside and outside. Overall, the food was fine, not great for the price though, service was lovely and atmosphere was very peaceful

Needs better ketchup! That and curry sauce are the two condiments essential to a good supper. Good choice of food. See menu The staff were nice although seems they were a bit bored and grumpy , served quickly and food arrived within 10 minutes. Fish was very good. Batter crispy and light. Bottom of fish a little soggy but was ok. The sausages are really bad quality. Looked like a Richmond sausge pale and tasted horrible. Again the batter was great just couldnt eat it. It's either two small battered pale nasty ones or a large which I havnt tried. Chips were nice but they could be better. The curry sauce was ok. Choice of cold drinks over £2 a can. Coffee is decent. Food is a reasonable price. Small space but we were very happy sitting inside. If it was busier I think it would be uncomfortable eith the main seating area having chairs back to back so close. I realise making the best of the space. They do usualy have outside seating. In a great spot by sea front opposite family entertainment. We have been here before and it was much better so I'm not sure what's changed. Shame but I'd return for the fish and id try the larger herby sausage.
G H — Google review
My partner and I came here when the place was practically empty - just two tables with two pairs. We ordered burgers, something quick to make in my opinion. A family of 5 came in 10 minutes after us, and they were served their food way before us. We waited over 30 minutes before asking for the whereabouts of our food; it turned up a few minutes later and we were sorely disappointed. The beef burger was vastly overcooked and tasted cheap, the chicken burger was hot in the centre but cold on the edges, they were stingy with the cheese, and the chips were incredibly undercooked. Not only that, my partner found blue plastic in his meal and when he confronted the waitresses, they insisted it was not plastic but a bit of fish - something he did not order. They did not apologise, nor did they even ask us if we enjoyed the meal. The service was terrible. Go literally anywhere else for a meal and skip out on this God awful hole in the wall.

Bar
Restaurant
Dragon Bar, located at 71 George Street, is a popular spot known for its friendly atmosphere and vibrant vibe, especially during weekend DJ sessions. The bar showcases local artwork and offers freshly prepared, restaurant-quality meals with seasonal inspiration. Owned by two brothers from Hastings who also run a bar in London's Shoreditch, the venue attracts a young crowd and features a tiny kitchen that serves great-value food. Visitors can expect friendly staff and unique touches like the ladies' restroom set into the rock downstairs.
While on a trip to Hastings, we were hungry so we went looking for a place where we could eat well and where dogs were welcome. Walking through the old town along George Street, we visited many bars and restaurants until we finally reached the inconspicuous Dragon Bar. Maybe at first impression it is not very exposed, but we boldly entered inside. And we already knew it was a good choice! Although there is no sign that dogs are welcome, we found a place right next to the entrance with a view of the entire bar from where we could observe the guests. After a while, I was already at the bar, the polite bartender offered drinks, I must say that everyone will find something for themselves, from a soft drink, Guinness beer, Staropramen, wines and cocktails prepared on site. The menu is not very rich, but as it turned out later, the secret of Dragon Bar is not the number of dishes. We ordered grilled bass, mushrooms on the toast, smoked salmon fishcakes and tomato and thyme soup. We waited quite a long time, but considering that we weren't the only ones waiting, we hoped it would be worth it. And it was worth it! The dishes presented in a beautiful form (it would be a pity to destroy this work) tasted amazing, truly heaven in your mouth! Mushrooms on toast were full of mushroom flavor, thyme emphasized the taste, garlic toast complemented the taste and the whole thing was delicious, a poetry of taste. Grilled bass fish served with rice and bit of trace created a tasty composition, fresh fish and ingredients ensured the unique taste of the dish. grilled salmon fishcake is real poetry not only in appearance but also in taste. I have never eaten fishcake served this way. And the tomato soup mentioned was delicious, slightly spicy and tasty, and the grilled bread with topping took the taste sensations to a different level. Finally, we had two desserts served, cinnamon apple tarte with soft cream and the second dessert was rhubarb mousse with apple, crushed meringue and biscuit. everything tasted out of this world. It was worth waiting longer than usual for such a tasty treat. There was a nice, relaxed atmosphere in the bar, the staff were friendly and served the dishes with a smile. If you are a fan of good food and a friendly, unobtrusive atmosphere, you must visit Dragon Bar! Thank you very much for your visual and taste experiences. We highly recommend Dragon Bar! Oh and one more thing, it costs much less than it looks! Truly ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Dragon Bar

Had an enjoyable lunch. Eat a lot of vegi food at home but rarely out. Opted for the vegi bean stew, rich, saucy, tasty, would definitely have again. The Mrs had the Caesar salad, she liked. Beer is fine, not that great a choice tbh. The service was hapless yet sharp in a very sweet way.

Unfortunately not the best experience. Watched customers meals sit on the counter for 6 minutes before it wee given to them, thankfully ours didn’t take as long, however the food we were served wasn’t great. The pickle on(not in) the beef burger was not my favourite tasting pickle I’ve had, the bun was soggy and falling apart as well. The grilled club chicken sandwich was not grilled and was cold, the filling was just chopped chicken and lettuce which is something that should be put in a wrap not a sandwich.
Jasmine R — Google review
My go to bar in Hastings - Dragon Bar is a rustic bar, situated in the old town of Hastings, offering a great selection of drinks and a variety of food options on the menus from small plates and large plates. Dragon Bar hip, and edgy restaurant bar, with fresh and vibrant food options. With a tiny kitchen pumping out great options on the menu it is one of the better places to have a eat out in Hastings. Or a place to relax for drinks. It is on the rather more expensive a sides for a Resturant / bar in Hastings, however we’ll worth the price point. The bar is very scenic and has a good atmosphere. It is on the more causal side , being dog friendly, and more chill service to bare that in mind if you are expected top quality service. It has friendly staff but it is a more of a sit back and relax DIY order at bar kinda vibe.

My partner and I came here for a date night to go for their meal for 2 - Rib Eye steaksand chips on a Saturday for £35. Alicia and Siobhan made sure to make our night very tailored and catered to, and our food came out promptly and cooked exactly as per our specifications. As a local in Hastings I can easily recommend this place for an enjoyable night out for couples. The meal comes with a bottle of house wine, and chunky chips and a portobello mushroom, well cooked and seasoned. Good value for money but by far the main selling point for this venue is the customer service and catering as the staff are very attentive and caring.

Great meal at Pissarro’s in Hastings. The cocktails were really well made, and the food was spot on steak cooked just right with its own hot rock to finish yourself at the table, tasty burger, and fresh seafood starters. Service was excellent, especially Aleisha she was friendly, helpful, and just really easy to get along with. Will definitely be back.

The environment is nice and the people are very welcoming and friendly however, the food left us a little disappointed. We went to Pissarro’s after a recommendation because we were looking for new steak places in town and so we went for a ribeye. The cut was way too lean for becoming a good ribeye and on top of that it wasn’t of the greatest quality; it was probably too cold when cooked or else but it was quite chewy and ultimately not as enjoyable as we would have hoped. Don’t get me wrong, for the money it was decent but there is better around.

Restaurant
Nestled in the charming Old Town of Hastings, Cafe Maroc is a delightful Moroccan restaurant that exudes warmth and hospitality. Surrounded by antique shops, this hidden gem offers an intimate dining experience with its cozy atmosphere. Guests are greeted with genuine friendliness from the owner and can choose between the main dining area or a quaint shop space featuring just two tables for a more private feel.
An impressive warm and welcoming Moroccan restaurant. Set in amongst antique shops in Hastings old town this is the type of restaurant that serves great food and doesn't shout about it. We were warmly greeted by the owner and given a choice of sitting in the main cosy restaurant area or next door in the shop connected to it. We chose the shop which was set up very nicely with just two tables and had the feeling of a private dining experience. We chose the harissa prawns and houmous with olives to start. The houmous was just as it should be and as good as I have tasted in the Middle East. The prawns were large juicy and the dressing was perfect. For our main we had the lamb and apricot tagine and this was probably the best tagine I've had. The lamb was falling apart, tasted fantastic was and generously portioned. The service was warm and freindly, food wonderful and setting unique. Highly recommended

Simple menu, Incredible food. Highly recommend. Lamb and apricot tagine was perfect, lamb was super tender. Ginger cheesecake was a highlight! I would go back just for this, no I WILL go back just for this! Just needs an open window or a fan as the restaurant is super hot.

Sweet little Moroccan restaurant in the Old Town. Has a very strong family-feel, so friendly and welcoming. The menu is also small, but that's not a criticism: it's focused rather than limited. The food is generous and gorgeous, and very reasonably priced. I managed 3 courses: houmous & olives, lamb tagine with almonds & apricot, and rose cake - all amazing. They do serve coffee, but I don't know about other soft drinks as we took advantage of the corkage a brought a bottle. Highly recommended.

I telephoned a couple of days before New Year to see if they would be open that evening. They wasnt sure at first but then confirmed that yes they would be open, and we were soooo very happy there were! We had a table of 4 people and we all shared a mixed starter of everything on the menu. Gave us all the opportunity of sampling the different dishes. Then for main course, 3 of us went for the lamb tagine and 1 for the fish. Well, them lamb was simply delicious. So super tasty and soft. If you stared at it long enough it literally just fell apart. I tasted a little of my partners fish tagine, which was sea bass in a tomato kinda sauce. That too was really tasty. I'm surprised we had room for desert, but we did and I ate a lovely plum and almond tart. It's BYO booze (£3 corkage) which is no problem at all, you are able to drink as little or as much as you like. We had 3 courses @£25pp and I enojoyed every minute. The restaurant is small but perfectly formed. I and my friends will definitely be coming back here to eat again! Thank you for a super taste sensation.

Lovely little place. Opening hours are limited and not that many spaces, so get there early or book well in advance. Great selection of delicious food. Sometimes I think some of the items on the menu are a little overpriced. Authentic, delicious food.

Not to be missed- truly a gem and 100% will go back! Stayed in Hastings overnight before a holiday and booked Cafe Maroc. Having travelled from Bristol, we were not disappointed! We did walk past the door initially but google maps puts us back on track. The restaurant is cosy with about 30 seats and is authentically decorated. Our hosts were attentive and friendly. The food was INCREDIBLE! We had a set menu, £25 for three courses with a BYOB. We shared the Lamb Kebab, honey and goats cheese salad and Zalouk - all of which were DELICIOUS- we ate in thirty seconds flat! We then had the chicken tagine and lamb tagine which came out hot and full of flavour, beautiful! Not 100% sure was dessert was but feta and apple baklava is my best guest- sweet and tasty! Generous portions and cosy atmosphere, the food came quickly and each bit was wonderful. Would highly recommend!

Cafe Maroc was a pleasant surprise! This little Moroccan cafe won my heart with its tasty food and very polite and friendly staff. I ordered a Chicken and Spinach Tangine which smelt and tasted delicious. I also tried Moroccan coffee and mint tea which were both very subtle yet has a nice effect on you.

Walked past when it was closed, with the door open and the aroma was enticing. Stopped and booked for tonight. Normally, we have one course but the starters intrigued. One goat's cheese salad with odd sprinkles of pomegranate seeds and salad; and a minced lamb kebab with aromatic salad, anointed with a creamy sauce. Both delighted. Tagines for mains. Classic lamb with sparse but welcome apricots (whole) and a few almonds. Chicken and spinach. Stunning. Asked '''what does it smell like?" Answer: remember when we have a really good roast chicken and we make stock? It smells of the best chicken stock. Surely no room for pudding? Actually, yes. Blackcurrant sorbet for one, and cheesecake and a scoop of ice cream for t'other. With 2 times £3 corkage, £56 for two all in. Excellent flavours, great service and a friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Excellent value menu and more likely than Wetherspoons. Food of a good standard, wide range of drinks and friendly staff. In the centre of Hastings new town near the beach and shops.

We went for lunch as a family of 6 during half term. The kids eat for £1 off the kids' menu and there's also a '2 meals for £10.99' menu, so it made it affordable for us all. The kids meals include 4 steps - a meat/veg option, potato/veg option, beans/veg option and a dessert. Drinks do increase what you spend significantly - we spent £24 on drinks alone! Service was quick and efficient. Food was fresh and portions were generous - we all really liked our meals and pretty much finished everything. Upstairs toilets were clean. Avoid the downstairs accessible toilet if possible. Worth it for lunch if you're in town with kids.

The food is extremely good and even better considering the value for money. Drinks, great selection and cheap. Excellent deals available all day every day. Staff are helpful, polite and friendly. The decor and state of repair let's the place down. However, considering how busy the place is and how varied it's use, it could be excused.

Absolutely brilliant, ordered a breakfast from laura, amazing customer service and then billy brought my coffee over and stirred it infront of me and added my sugars i felt like i was in one of those fancy asians restaurants where they cook the food infront of you! Five stars!!!

Food was great, service wasn't that good as others go served before us after they ordered after us, atmosphere was terrible due to a family with a small child screaming the place down and parents were doing nothing about it, my family and I were tempted to leave and we would of if we hadn't been waiting for a meals and had already paid! Never returning

Kino-Teatr is a charming and historically rich venue that has weathered the storms of two world wars and various transformations, including a brief period as a builders' merchants. Now independently operated by art dealers, this PG-rated cinema offers an eclectic mix of entertainment beyond just films. Visitors can enjoy live flamenco shows, jazz breakfasts, spoken word events, TED-style talks, and theatrical performances in its beautifully restored Victorian library setting.
Exceptional food - all home cooked - at a surprisingly refreshing price. Friendly, funny staff - huge space full of art (bought a piece from Russell who is lovely). The best breakfast, lunch, and long candle-lit dinner in St. Leonard’s.

Great theatre. Shows alot of "Arty" type movies rather than mainstream. Which is understandable given the place is also an art gallery etc. I feel selling popcorn etc would be good ? The seats are great some sofas and chesterfield style seats.

We popped in on Saturday 12th July and the older male employee on the bar made us feel genuinely so unwelcome that I felt we had to write this review. We asked if we could order a coffee and he scoffed at us and was so hostile and passive aggressive. I cannot think what we had “done” to cause such behaviour (other than inconvenience him by walking into an empty bar) but we felt genuinely upset and puzzled by his attitude. It honestly felt personal and so unnecessary. Sad, as we were just visiting the area and a friend recommended the place and we were nearby and fancied a coffee. Would not recommend to anyone though, it really affected our mood afterwards. Coffee was fine (just made to feel like a dick for asking for one)

This vibrant establishment in the heart of town is perfect for both casual game days and stylish nights out. Fantastic meal and great service by Kirsty. She was so welcoming and friendly and made sure we were happy with our food and drinks. I had the buttermilk chicken burger and partner had beef Yorkshire pudding wrap - both delicious, and very reasonably priced. Watched the football! Great place to visit for food, drinks and watch sports.

Disgraceful service tonight!! I've ordered from here a few times but never had service like this before and will never eat here again!! Ordered online via their preferred method, orderyoyo app, email received at 18:21 saying order confirmed with an expected delivery of 19:04, thought this was optimistic being a Friday night, unfortunately I'd closed the order page on my phone and the app has no tracking facility. At 19:48 I called to find out how long the order would be, had to leave a call back request, which came at 19:50, the young sounding lady, was apologetic, saying it was very busy and they had problems in their kitchen, our order would be ready as soon as possible. I'm too patient for my own good, and hunger was keeping me from cancelling, as I waited until 20:42, before phoning again to complain and again, ask about the order. The lady said she would check with the kitchen and call me back, at 20:44, she called me to say our order was actually ready, but they were waiting for a delivery driver to come free, I don't know how long the order had been ready at this point, I asked to talk to a manager about some sort of compensation for the delay, now 2hrs and 25 minutes, she said she would get a manager to call me back. At 21:24, the food finally arrived in an open brown paper bag, with the food boxes inside, squashed and covered in grease, (I have photos). Unsurprisingly the food was only warm and stodgy, plus my Canadian burger which was supposed to have jack cheese on and maple bacon, was wrong, as I ended up with 2 gristly patties, topped with chicken and cheese, the bottom was soggy and greasy from sitting for so long. I don't like writing negative reviews, but I've still had no contact and feel tonight's fiasco completely justifies it. Surely if a restaurant is having problems preparing food and getting it delivered, they should suspend orders and proactively contact the people who have already placed orders! Moda I await your response, which hopefully involves a refund and an apology for ruining 3.5 hours of our Friday evening!

I've been in many pubs in uk but this must be the worst one. Ordered a plain burger for my dog, no food for me, and waited 40 mins. I was the only one ordering food, kitchen totally free. Only 3 customer in the whole pub, I can see way. Girl behind the bar, pretty, but was interested more in chatting with her "pseudo businessman" friend than actually offering a service. Burger for my dog came just as a meat, no bun. Never again...

Fika@44 is a charming café located in St Leonards, known for its chic ambiance, great food, and fantastic outdoor space. The café boasts a tastefully decorated interior and a lovely garden area where patrons can enjoy their coffee or lunch. Amazing as per usual! We got the salmon bagel, salad with flatbread, and double chocolate cake. All tasted amazing, food was so fresh. Coffee was great too, especially the mocha! A wonderful find nestled in the busy bohemian area of St Leonards. What a treat! I ventured up to St Leonards with an old friend and we were pleased to discover this quaint little coffee shop. Sat outdoors in the mild April warmth, we were served a wonderfully strong black coffee, as black as plimsolls and my friend, Ratchel had a luscious looking espresso banana smoothie. Watch out for the pumpkin seeds I would add, but these aside it looked great. I had a sausage roll which was served warm with a tangy tomato salsa, not something I expected however it was a pleasant surprise. The pastry was flakey and light and the sausage was as I like it, meaty with a firm bite. Next up were out bagels. Layers of salty prosciutto tucked in to the soft chewy warm bagel with peppery rocket, sun dried tomatoes which gave an occasional pop of sharp intensity and a thick sugary twang of balsamic glaze. Delightful! The staff were very friendly and I was more than impressed by this dainty little place. Check this establishment out, brilliant!

This is a beautiful cafe in St Leonard’s... the decor of the cafe is really cute and tasteful, especially the garden area which is a lovely space to enjoy coffee/or lunch. There were some really delightful sounding salads on the menu. We opted for bagels which were delicious. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and showed such a genuine interest in us. Nothing was any trouble and the atmosphere was really chilled and relaxed. The indoor areas have screens up between tables to comply with covid, and marks on floor to keep distance when queuing. There is a toilet available on premises too. All in all, a really delightful little cafe that is well worth a visit.

A reliable favourite - absolutely gorgeous on the inside with consistently good food and drinks. My personal recs are a slice of espresso banana bread and an iced chai! Maybe the one thing I don't like is that hot drinks tend to arrive in a glass without a handle, meaning I have to wait a while before I can pick up the cup, but that's a small thing.

Came for valentines meal. Really good food and everything was cooked perfectly! Just the size of the main was disappointing. It was a very small portion of steak. Considering the price they didn’t need to be so mean with it. The biggest dish was the dessert. Nice atmosphere and attentive staff.

An absolutely gorgeous, spacious and light filled restaurant, the vibes are instant and they’re highly appealing. Food (read below) is good but a mixed bag. We arrived with two children in tow, were given a nice table and a very smart looking wooden high chair was rolled out for our baby. It was a Japanese themed night this Sunday the 25th of May. The menu was limited and focused. Drink orders were a Japanese Whisky Boulevardier and a Jalapeño Mescal Martini. Both were excellent .. London prices, but excellent. The food was inventive - grilled brioche with a cultured Miso butter, a beautifully dressed salad.. butter lettuce, radish, lots of crunchy herb stems and a shiso-koji dressing with vinegar and oil, beautiful, just wow. The fish dishes came next - a cured mullet and a sea bream sashimi style and wrapped in a mandolined daikon and shiso skin. You have me drooling so far. The main let down was a dashi vegetable broth which neither tasted of dashi or had sufficient size and content to justify its £27 price. It had a distinct taste of chicken stock which was a no-no for a Pescetarian like me. Sent it back, no pushback. The kids were tired and though we weren’t full, it was time to make a hasty retreat. Lovely place, I’d come again on a regular menu night. They should keep working hard on delivering value consistent for money, everything else they’re doing right.

Everything about our dinner here was beautiful - the decor, service, drinks menu, music, entire vibe was superb, before we even get on to the food. Everything was so delicious, exciting, and unique. Highlights: panelle, tagliatelle, and pain perdu. Don’t skip the potatoes. Side note- great alcohol free list!

We had an excellent lunch today. The chefs paired exciting flavours and although it's a short menu, it has plenty of variety. The house rosé was very drinkable and decent value. Where it falls down is on the service front. Our waitress didn't have her eyes on the floor at all - too busy chatting with the chefs. When I beckoned to her at the end of our meal and mimed "bill please" she brought the bill, but not the card machine ... and then turned her back on the diners and carried on chatting with the chefs. Luckily, we had enough cash to leave, otherwise we might have had quite a wait before she decided to bring a card reader. Having worked in the food industry as a PR in London, I couldn't work out why there were 2 front of house people. The other seemed to do nothing other than pour drinks and occasionally take them to tables. One decent server could have managed both! It looks like a lot of wages to pay, especially when you consider there were 2 chefs out front and we could discern another person in the kitchen (possibly to do the washing-up?). Anyway, the waiting staff need some training before I could give this place 5 stars. As we left, I said "Thank you very much" loudly to the waitress ... whose back was turned and hadn't even registered that we had left cash on our table and were leaving. It's a pity, because that's the difference between somewhere you recommend to others and hurry back to and somewhere you don't.

I ordered Latte from this place and specifically mentioned half a shot full fat milk. Clearly the person paid no heed. The coffe was of inferior quality, burnt. It claims to be Monmouth coffe though I doubt if it really is what it says. I asked for full gate milk. The person gave semi skimmed. Below par taste. Starbucks even though is a chain is far superior. I always think I need to support small shops local businesses but I cannot help stay loyal to Starbucks. The local coffee shops disappoint sometimes.

First visit on Saturday. Bought 3 local cheeses, and 2 bottles of red wine. Both the cheeses and the wine are superb. Let's be honest, you get what you pay for. I could have bought some wine snd cheese from a supermarket, but going to a small business, that specialises in good local cheeses is certainly worth the premium. The lady who served us was knowledgeable and made the right recommendations based on my favoured taste. If you like a creamy blue cheese...try Pevensey Blue, its lovely. Will certainly be back.

Great location. The sandwiches we had were nice. The crayfish one had way too much lemon/lime and it completely killed the flavour of the crayfish. It would have been nice to have some kind of sweetness in the sauce as it would have enhanced the flavour of the crayfish.

The rocky roads and the hot chocolate were delicious, and the coffee was wonderful. You'll be able to watch the waves and get *some* drinks served to your table. I would recommend putting up the transparent barrier like the nearby café had, because it was very wet when it rained, and when the tide was high

This place is fantastic - its right on the beach front and clearly popular. We came here for a coffee and brunch and there's good options for dietary requirements (one of us is veggie and the other GlutenFree). The coffee is excellent and I recommend the dirty chai here. I had smashed avo on toast with feta which was pretty good but some proper handmade sourdough bread could've made it perfect. We had the crumpets with avocado, salmon, sriracha mayo & crispy onions too - which neither of us liked but not sure if the crumpet was toasted (plus is was a GF version so these aren't always the best). Anyway, it was all well presented and would try something else next time. The service is great, quick and friendly - and the spot is perfect for having a break by the sea.

A very cosy, Berlin-esque bar. The place is very relaxed, had a great playlist on and the staff were super helpful. Could easily stay here for 2/3 hours and not notice time fly. The drinks were delicious. Definitely recommend for your standard drinks and tequila

Stumbled upon this place and what a find. Open mic night, some very good local bands/singers, cocktails looked good, Guinness was great. We'll be back...

Had a lovely couple of drinks in here. Very strong and well worth the money. A bit small inside but managed to get a table just before we got our drinks. Would definitely visit here again.

One of my FAVOURITE ever places - little gem in Hastings. Came here on a whim and ended up having some of the best mezcal & margaritas I’ve ever had, better than places in London & Barcelona. Also, massive shout out the 2 guys who were working at the time. Knew all their stuff and super lovely. Come on a Tuesday for the open mic night, nice lil vibes!

Located on Kings Road, Maker & Baker is a popular sourdough micro-bakery known for its delectable Serrano and Cheddar croissants. The bakery offers a variety of mouthwatering treats such as stunning bread, Basque Cheesecake, Custard Tart, and Coffee. Customers praise the friendly service and delicious cumin-flavored bread that makes for a delightful breakfast.
I stopped by here a few times during my recent trip to Hastings. Their croissants are buttery and offer other exceptional pastries. They make a good oat flat white too because they use quality beans. The staff were super friendly on every visit.
Kerri-Ann A — Google review
One of the best bakeries I've ever been too. The queue is usually out of the door for good reason. Obviously bread is the main attraction but their pastries, sausage rolls and sandwiches are a hit too. New shop is much bigger than the old one, has a warm and welcoming vibe to it
Chris R — Google review
Pastries are well baked without being overdone, audible crunch when tucking into croissants for instance and the best buttery flavour without being overly salty or sweet. Possibly the best almond croissant ever, unique and gorgeous choc pastries. A great chick Caesar salad on Foccacia (I think) and choc pastry (larger than expected) came in well under £10. Heaven and the customer service is absolutely perfect, really warm and natural. Heaven.
Simon M — Google review
Top quality pastries, the best we had in Hastings, decent coffee too.
Tim C — Google review
Look, look, I know I got lured in by the best smell of freshly baked pastries and coffee... They have artesan breads, the best butters and sardines, and the highest quality potato crisps. You can often see someone putting the finishing touches on rolls or pastries in the window. Definitely worth being lured in by the delightful scent! 😂
Christine C — Google review
This would be a solid 4 star (nice baked goods, good location and interesting store; let down by some slightly haughty staff, a confused order/collection layout, and exterior seating that is a huge afterthought), but it looses a star for the opening hours. Shop seems to frequently close for a random few days here and there, but not update the Google hours to reflect this; meaning that you can never go here deliberately. Worth going in if you are nearby, but not worth making a trip for.
Bryce F — Google review
Proper bread for the people, by the people! And the coffee is epic too!
Henry A — Google review
Very good bread but very pricey, however thats not a problem since the bread is so good. My issue however is the fact theyre open only a couple days a week and sometimes on the website it says they are open but when you go to the shop they have a sign on the door saying theyre not open, I dont see why they cant update their website on the proper times theyre open and closed, as its incredibly frustrating to go out all my way to just find it closed when on here it says the shop is open.

Nestled in Hastings, Coquina is a delightful Mediterranean café and restaurant that has quickly become a local favorite. Co-founded by Ruby Boglione and Silvy Pilkington, this modern eatery offers an inviting atmosphere paired with contemporary cuisine that elevates the dining experience. Guests rave about the delicious offerings, from simple yet flavorful anchovies on toast to exquisite dishes like labneh and fish rice. The carefully curated wine selection complements the menu perfectly.
had the most beautiful mid week meal at coquina! Started with a drink on the terrace which has some of the best views of Hatings, then moved inside for tapas. The pumpkin with ricotta and hazelnut was incredible as was the salt cod salad. You could taste the thought and individual flavours that went into each dish. Our waitress was lovely and attentive too! Will definitely be returning and a great spot for summer drinks

A Hidden Gem! So glad this spot has opened in Hastings, unlike anything you can find in the area, mixing a Mediterranean tapas feel with epic, fresh English produce. The sardines were so tasty and a special shout out to the tomato’s which I wouldn’t usually rave about but wow, the flavour! Great alcohol free beers too which is always a winner for me💥 Definitely be back 🙏🏻

This is a wonderful, modern and friendly restaurant which brings much improvement and contemporary cuisine to Hastings. The food is delicious: from simple anchovies on toast to wonderful asparagus and amazing croissant ice-cream. The wine is obviously carefully selected and the choice is absolutely wonderful and spot on. This is the place to visit when out and about in Hastings. You will enjoy lovely food and magnificent view over the Hastings sea from the lovely terrace.
Olga S — Google review
My friend and I visited the Hastings Contemporary Gallery for an art exhibition. We had tea at Coquina before going into the exhibition. We sat on the balcony with a wonderful view of the sea and Hastings' small fishing boats. This must be one of the best viewpoints in Hastings After the superb exhibition, Coquina provided us with an excellent lunch. The Padron peppers, home made pickles and panzanella were all freshly made with local ingredients and delicious. We washed this down with some fine French rosè. I would definitely go back.

best restaurant in Hastings old town..? easily the best setting, quite the best restaurant room right on the fishing port overlooking all the boats, its really beautiful, surely one of the best views along the whole South coast? But the food's the thing! Such a well-run skilful kitchen by chef Will, beautifully prepared Spanish inspired cooking; can't say enough good things about it. And great value for the quality. Go for a treat! Go every week! & keep supporting local stars.
Jersey R — Google review
What an absolute gem in Hastings! Absolutely worth a visit- you don’t need a ticket to the art gallery to go. The food itself is worth a trip. Beautiful setting with massive windows overlooking the sea, and some outdoor seating too. Really delicious grub- we had the steak sandwich (perfectly cooked and full of flavour), the chips and bravas/aioli sauces (the bravas sauce was out of this world- soo fresh and tomatoey, with a lovely gentle spice) and the cod rice (citrusy and fresh, went down a treat). Drinks were also great- we were driving so had the freshly made house lemonade. Will definitely be back next time we’re in Hastings, highly recommend
Emma C — Google review
I would argue that coquina is perhaps some of the best and most authentic Spanish tapas that you can find. Impressively, they reinvent the menu weekly and food quality is consistently of a high standard. A real hidden gem on the Hastings coast - absolutely perplexed at any negative reviews.

What a special addition to Hastings this restaurant is. Incredible views looking out to the sea, gorgeous decor, and friendly, attentive staff. And the food… authentic tapas which was vibrant and delicious. The tortilla in particular was very tasty. Everything looked fresh and complimented each beautifully. How anyone has given this place a bad review is beyond me - would recommend this place to everyone I know. Can’t wait to go back.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Hastings, Lury is an intimate restaurant that boldly redefines modern British cuisine. My recent visit was nothing short of extraordinary, with a warm and friendly atmosphere complemented by attentive service. The artistic flair within the space adds a unique charm to the dining experience. The highlight was undoubtedly the exquisite 10-course tasting menu, which took us on a culinary journey filled with delightful surprises.
I recently had the pleasure of an exceptional dining experience at Lury. The service was excellent, attentive but relaxed and friendly. The restaurant itself has a great vibe and the resident artist is a wonderful touch. A great wine list, but the highlight for sure is the food, The 10 course tasting menu read like a dream but tasted even better. The mackerel was delicate but punchy, the crab pasta was a silky treat, the venison was just melt in the mouth cooked to perfection. Every dish was inventive, creative and delicious but one dish I can’t forget, and for me is outstanding, is the pork buns. The slight crust on the outside with the soft unctuous pork center and then the heavenly cardamom butter on the side. These buns absolutely stole the show. More please!

We came here for our anniversary dinner. One word sums it up: delightful. This is cooking at a very, very high level and it was a joy to eat here. There is impeccable attention to detail in every dish, the service and in the restaurant’s design and fit out. You can tell there is tremendous thought and care put into the experience of eating here. Even the portioning was so well-considered that we left exactly the right amount of full: not an easy feat with so many dishes and with so much variety. I would happily place it among the best dinners I’ve ever enjoyed, and thought it was excellent value for money. My girlfriend and I will absolutely be back here again, Lury is a very welcome addition to Hastings’ blooming food scene and it was a genuine pleasure to visit.
Elian — Google review
Our experience at Lury was outstanding. The flavour combinations of every single dish was so well thought out, incredibly creative, and unlike anything we've tasted before. Out of the 10 x dishes on the tasting menu, there was not 1 that felt flat or uninteresting. Every single dish was standout. It was hard to pick our favourite dishes because they were all so memorable. The service was attentive and kind without being overbearing. The ambience is relaxed and romantic, but paired back in a simple way. We couldn't be happier to have a restaurant of this quality in Hastings and can't wait to visit again. And we must say, cardamom butter is an absolute revelation!!
Courtney P — Google review
Had a truly extraordinary experience at Lury! Service was wonderful and the tasting menu was delicious across the board - each dish was the perfect size and the flavours were unbelievable. We enjoyed some innovative combinations that I've never seen on a menu before, all cooked to perfection. Strongly recommend the Arrack old fashioned to go with everything!

Stylish, small and sophisticated sums up this lovely restaurant with only 10 covers. This place shines a welcome light on the best of Hastings New Town, in a quiet pedestrian street, minutes from the sea. The staff are delightful and the service perfect. But the food is the star of the show. The 10 course tasting menu takes time to enjoy so be prepared as it took us almost 4 congenial hours but very much worth it; the Vila Nova as a companion is definitely worth it. You can't rush food of such high quality with precision presentation. Clearly, with such a varied menu, we all have favourites however, we found all 10 dishes delicious. My favourites were: mackerel cardamom; cod with tamarind; and gnocchi, onion and mustard seeds. Each dish is exquisite and beautifully presented. Yes, each dish is no more than a mouthwatering taste but that's the point. By the time our petit fours arrived, we were comfortably replete and felt very satisfied, as we departed, into the peaceful surroundings. Each dish is a gastronomic jewel and Lury provides some very welcome sparkle to Hastings New Town Centre. Congratulations to Jack, the chef/proprietor, and his charming team. Thank you.

A very charming restaurant with a friendly team. The taster menu was superb. Full of flavour and excellent presentation. We would highly recommend this resteraunt for food, great atmosphere, quality and friendly. Thank you Lury for a lovely evening. All 4 of us would return most definitely 💓💯
Tracie D — Google review
A much needed newcomer to Hastings offering, when we dined there, only a 10 course tasting menu to 10 lucky guests. The chef-patron Jack Lury is classically (and well) trained and is carefully developing a style all his own. All dishes, which for June only featured no meat, were exquisitely prepared and presented. Highlights were the snacks - glazed and fried mackerel and a ceviche-style cuttlefish - and then the delicate gnocchi served with the heat of mustard seeds, the lightly cooked egg yolk with a lime (!) foam and the buttermilk ice cream. The wine list is short but well chosen, and, good value too. Service was professional and friendly.
Zavilc M — Google review
What a gem! The tasting menu offers 10 heavenly dishes with flavours, textures, portions and presentation all perfect. And just the right amount for total satisfaction. Exclusive small table dining with personable and expert service. And the famous chef Jack Lury ready to chat to us at the end. So pleased this ambitious project is succeeding. A great boon for Hastings.(And loss to London.) Metroplitan quality without London pricing. I love Hastings - cool and quirky, old English with trendy influx, unpretentious but becoming chic. And by the sea! Go and see and eat!

Nestled within the lively Source Park complex in Hastings, Winifred’s Restaurant & Bar is a delightful culinary treasure that truly stands out. This charming eatery offers an inviting atmosphere where guests are greeted with warmth and hospitality. Chef Ben showcases his exceptional talent through a menu filled with exquisite dishes like scallops, beef tartare, and indulgent three-cheese dumplings, all presented without pretension yet bursting with flavor.
Absolutely delicious! Beautiful tartare to start, accompanied by a crisp salad and cheese dumplings. The mushrooms and pickled chilli really made the dumplings sing. Highlight was definitely the devilled mackerel. Amazing flavour and a generous portion. The wine list is also great, with the orange and rose wines matching perfectly with delicious plum ripple ice-cream and grapefruit meringue pie.

We had an absolutely fantastic evening out at Winifred's, amazing flavours throughout and such attentive service, in a cosy room off the courtyard. We demolished the marmite butter before I even had time to take a photo 👌🏻👌🏻. For me the highlights were the 3-cheese dumplings and the delicate grapefruit meringue pie, but so hard to choose. This is the sort of cooking that deserves attention, and will surely get recognition soon. As noted by others, Ben is such a humble guy and really cares about the food and where he sources his ingredients. One to watch, we'll definitely be back.
Tim C — Google review
Loved this place and our meal. Chef Ben is a top man and top talent. We were a walk-in and had a lovely warm welcome. Scallops, beef tartare, marmite and Newcastle Brown butter and bread were all top-end fine dining without the pomp and were delicious and great value. And then we had pudding. Black Forest gateaux - the picture never does true justice - but it was all so perfectly balanced and full of little treats and surprises. A lemon tart is now mere tart - unctuous zesty filling, the richest of short pastry and rounded off with a brulee. Flippin' A+ Ace. We live 2 hours away but will be back and make the journey to come back just for this (although Hastings is of course a great place).

For me, the best place to eat in Hastings right now. Modern British dishes, with a focus on high-quality ingredients and a few nostalgic nods to his northern upbringing. Highlights were the ridiculously moreish brown bread with marmite butter, super light and fluffy three-cheese dumplings, and lemon meringue pie with the perfect balance of creamy sweetness and sharp citrus. You absolutely have to visit!

Great food, buzzy atmosphere. Creative menu. Innovation and classics done well. Great umami hit off the marmite butter w sourdough. Mmmm

We had a large group booking (12 people) and had arranged in advance to have exclusive use of the restaurant, with chef Ben's undivided attention. His offering to us that evening was a 'feast' as he and we put it; essentially, a tasting menu of all his current dishes, and then some. He thoughtfully catered to a group including some fussy dietary requirements, and service was attentive. It was an amazing experience! Thanks so much, Ben, for providing such a welcome (and for putting up with us and our music choices!). Oh, and the food was wonderful and suitably eclectic - but the other reviews can tell you that!

Don’t let the wine bar vibe fool you—this place is a culinary standout! The creative, fine-dining-level dishes are perfectly balanced and expertly cooked. Every bite was a delight, and the wine pairings were spot-on. Highly recommend for foodies and wine lovers alike. A must-visit! 🍷✨

Sebastian J — Google review
I feel like I want to cut some slack in this review (hence the 4 stars) given that this place has just opened. The gorgonzola/courgette pizza was delicious, the Napoli was good. I would have liked the pizzas to be a regular size, not as small. I do appreciate the "no frills" approach but I would have liked to be offered cutleries and at least a napkin. Pizzas were served on paper plates and that is just a lot of waste. Unfortunately we weren't impressed with the service. We ordered three pizzas and we received only two, we ate them hoping that the third would arrive and it didn't. After we talked to our waiter he was lovely and apologetic and our third pizza arrived quickly but there was another mistake and had no anchovies on it. We ate as it was because we didn't wanted to cause any more trouble. I think the system of asking for a name with your order instead of a table number is a bit silly giving that the waiters kept going around asking for a certain name that they couldn't find.

Extremely disappointed with this place. My order arrived missing a naan bread, and when I called to let them know, the person on the phone questioned me about their own menu—even though the mixed grill clearly includes a naan. The attitude was terrible, and instead of sending the missing item, they offered a free one “next time.” There won’t be a next time. The food itself was bland, and for over £18, both the quality and quantity were very poor. Definitely not worth it.

Really fresh tasting and great flavours. The best takeaway in Hastings and St. Leonards by far - especially since the relocation and switch to takeaway only. I really can't rate the food and service high enough - it's a must try!!!

Loved the chicken tikka masala, tandoori king prawn, garlic naan and mango lassi that I've ordered. The restaurant gets busy at night as they get many orders via delivery so there may be quite a wait. Food didn't disappoint, I've been here twice!
E C — Google review
First of all I would like to say this is one of the worst Indians I’ve ever had in my life. I’ve never been here before and I’ve heard good things about it from friends but it was absolutely appalling, when we walked in there was no staff for about 20 minutes of us being there (we had to go knock on the kitchen door). The way the “waiter” was dressed was extremely unprofessional. The plates was dirty, the curry tasted like powder and the chicken was pink inside and there was a man that worked there who looked like he hasn’t washed in about 6 months just sat next to us the entire time. Now I can see why the place was empty. Don’t even bother wasting your time or money. Ocean spice, balti but and bay spice all deliver excellent services and are clean and the food is 10000x better there.
Ruby C — Google review
We had a takeaway from here tonight and it was just awful. The butter chicken and chicken korma tastes the same because there was no flavour what so ever, we had to throw about £20 worth of food away as not everyone would eat it. Never again!
L M — Google review
I have never been a curry person until I met my English husband. What a world, what a food I've been missing! Couldn't be more grateful for his patience; he introduced me to this amazing food first with with chicken tikka masala and mushroom rice but because we were so stranded indoor in the last 2 years we actually got through the whole variety of dishes that Cinnamon Spice in St.Leonards offers and became regulars, together with friends and family. The food is absolutely delicious and the very generous portions are coming perfectly packed in a hot take away (never spilled, always hot and ready to serve). The variety of dishes can satisfy even the fussiest of eaters. It's a great option when cooking dinner at home would take too long or when we want to indulge ourselves with something good. The place has been rated for food hygiene as Very Good (5) as well that makes us trust it even more. Thank you Cinnamon Spice!

Excellent seafood restaurant - probably the best in this coastal town. The staff were polite, friendly, and very welcoming. Service was smooth and professional, making the whole experience enjoyable. A really cool feature is the testers - small tasting portions at a low price. Thanks to that, we got to try many different seafood dishes without spending too much. The only minor downside was the wine, which felt overpriced for its quality. Still, compared to everything else, it wasn’t a big issue. We sat outside. It was a bit worrying with the seagulls around, and quite hot under the sun since there were no umbrellas. But even so, it was a wonderful time. Fantastic place - I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in Hastings.

🦞 Amazing Seafood, Generous Portions & Worth Booking Ahead! 🦞 The decor is simple, but the focus here is all on the food, and the seafood is outstanding. We ordered the seafood platter (£39), and the portion was huge. We especially loved the oysters, the smaller cold-water prawns, and the crab — all fresh, sweet, and flavorful. The only small note was that the shells could be cleaned a bit better, as I occasionally bit into some grit. Otherwise, everything was fresh and delicious. The platter also came with all the cutlery you need to easily extract the meat, which was a thoughtful touch. The winkles were milder in flavor, but they paired nicely with the other richer shellfish. We also had the special of the day: the half lobster with chips and rocket leaves (£23). The lobster was perfectly cooked, and the sauce it came with was heavenly, passing even our critical Cantonese seafood-loving taste buds from Hong Kong. Highly recommend this place for seafood lovers, but make sure to book ahead as it gets busy.

Called to book a table and the young lady who answered phone said ‘ello’ that probably should have been the first alarm bell. Arrived and was greeted by a very nice guy called Jayden who greeted us by name as we walked through the door, restaurant was empty apart from one table of 8 and another table with two people sat drinking cocktails. Jayden, very attentively came to the table to ask if we would like to order drinks and we ordered a couple of cocktails. 5 minutes later Jayden again asked if we was ready to order and we suggested that we would like to order the 35oz Tommerhawk to share, Jayden turned and spoke to the two people sat drinking cocktails and it then became apparent that one of those drinking cocktails was the CHEF and the other the BARMAID. The CHEF told Jayden that he couldn’t do the steak so we looked at an alternative option, we suggested that we would like the meat platter, again Jayden turns to his CHEF to ask however the CHEF declines again. At this point I’d had enough so I said don’t worry about it we will finish our drinks and we will go and eat elsewhere. The CHEF gets up and makes his way to the kitchen, Jayden could not apologise enough and you could see that he wanted the ground to open up and swallow him whole. He apologised several times and clearly felt very embarrassed. Jayden then goes to the kitchen and speaks to the CHEF again and comes out to say that the CHEF has decided that he can do a meat platter now and that it would be discounted from £33 to £25 for the inconvenience 🙄 We politely declined and said no thank you we have already booked a table for elsewhere. As we finished our drinks Jayden came over one last time to shake my hand and apologise for the awful experience that we had received. I sincerely hope the owner of AZUR read this as they have a VERY GOOD front of house in Jayden who deserves the support of the staff around him, however they also have a CHEF that needs a serious talking too or needs to find an alternative career. SHOCKING.

The young lady who served me was very friendly and efficient. The beer battered cod was perfect. I'd definitely recommend this place and will certainly be going back 👍🏻

Myself and my partner have been in St Leonards for the last 4 days and on the first day, we came here for some lovely cocktails looking out to the sea on their amazing terrace. Then we came again for a quick pint and to get out if the wind and rain. Lol. We ended up meeting with people that had rented out the space downstairs and we had an amazing day and evening there. The staff are so nice and friendly, really made the experience that much better. So I'd highly recommend you check this place out, and if it's not raining, get outside on the terrace for an amazing view.

Amazing fish and chips take away. Perfectly wrapped up so it was piping hot when I got home, great cooking by cooked by chef Daniel and served cheerily by Barbara, what more could I ask for in a lockdown situation. Check it out !

Love the menu and the location can't be faulted - right on the beach. Service is slow and the whole place needs a bit of a refurb. Not over priced and there are some good value dishes too, beautifully cooked.

Rotten crayfish salads, probably expired 3 days ago (check closer in the picture). Burned bacon on burger and it came with rotten salads as well. Took 15 min to get refund. I hope you will improve your food ASAP before you poison someone.

Yaaze Bistro Cafe & Meze Bar, located at 15 Denmark Pl, Hastings TN34 1PF, has received rave reviews for its delicious food and cozy atmosphere. Visitors have praised the friendly staff and the variety of flavorful dishes available. The Mediterranean breakfast comes highly recommended for a satisfying and reasonably priced meal. Guests also enjoyed indulging in sweet treats like baklava, cakes, and ice cream.
We had the opportunity to have dinner and breakfast. It was very tasty. We ordered one portion for dinner and it was a great choice because there was a lot of food and we were both full. For a child, instead of ready-made nuggets, a better alternative on the menu would be strips of fresh chicken breast, but this is just a suggestion as a parent. The restaurant is atmospheric and the staff is friendly. The place is located with the sea view.

Absolutely authentic flavours paired with exceptional service and a welcoming atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. I ordered a simple omelette and my wife had a Mediterranean dish—both were far beyond our expectations in taste and presentation. To top it off, the prices were surprisingly affordable. A real hidden gem infront of the Hastings beach. —we'll definitely be coming back!

Nice atmosphere but my Greek salad was incredibly bitty and I found a small stone in it. Was offered a £3 discount... not great to be honest.. I don't know what happened and neither did they apparently.. unfortunate experience because other than the atmosphere is lovely in there.

Had both dinner and breakfast here. Really lovely food. Very clean. Great food and cocktails. Portion sizes have reduced recently but still very yummy! Great sea view!

The vegetarian meze was so good, we went back the next day! The Turkish Delight was particularly nice & worth trying. Ask the staff for recommendations.

Really nice place that is close to the beach. I had a burger which was nice and affordable. The drinks were a bit expensive but were good. The staff were also very nice and welcoming. They even apologized when another customer was a bit rude to us. The atmosphere is also nice. Would definitely go here again.

We had a delicious breakfast here this morning. The young staff were so welcoming and friendly, checking on our table often to make sure that we had everything we needed. The chef, Aaron, kindly let us change our order last minute too. The breakfast was unreal! The olives were so juicy and fresh. Everything cooked to perfection. As well as big coffee cups which was necessary to nurse our hangovers. It has a beautiful view of the sea, so a perfect place to sit down and relax. Thanks so much guys <3
