Guildford Castle, originally a Norman motte-and-bailey fortress, has been reinforced several times over the centuries and served as a royal residence. The castle offers 360-degree views from the Great Tower and features a model depicting its original form. The surrounding gardens boast colorful flowerbeds and a statue of Alice Through the Looking Glass.
Guildford Castle is a lovely place to explore if you’re in town. The grounds are beautifully maintained, with great views from the top overlooking Guildford and the surrounding countryside. It’s peaceful, informative, and perfect for a short, scenic visit. Highly recommended for history lovers and casual walkers alike.

Stunning! What the beautiful scenery! Totally recommend it. Nothing inside the castle but not the rooftop. You'll see the wonderful city view.
Beny ( — Google review
Take a breather whilst shopping and take a relaxing visit the castle gardens which is situated not far from the High Street. The place is beautifully kept and the gardens are really well planted up notably with spring bulbs AND also for the summer season. I advise you not to miss both the upper and the lower levels of the grounds. The castle mound itself is a bit of a climb but well worth it for the view. The castle does open to but I've never been inside. There is a fascinating little statue as a tribute to Lewis Carol who wrote 'Alice Through The Looking Glass' very nearby when he lived here. I thoroughly recommend this little gem of a place to anyone...

Lovely place Very very Spiritual. If you want to do Meditation/ manifestation or wants to connect to the Cosmos/Nature basically 5 elements air, water, earth, sky and fire. This is the place for people seeking positivity in their life. People with Negative energy could find it a difficult place to sit for long. Chant "OUM 🕉 " this is the vibration of creation of this Universe. Thank you

A beautiful cute small (compared with large gardens/parks) garden around the historic castle. We visited for the seasonal flowers. Easy access to Guildford town centre so such a great place for a short break after lunch and dinner.

The old castle itself is on top of the hill while the surrounding landscape is a gem to see and visit. Very beautiful with the flower decorations. People like to take photos there

Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Churches & Cathedrals
Guildford Cathedral, located on Stag Hill near the university campus, is a 20th-century Anglican church known for its modern design and materials. Unlike traditional cathedrals, it features plain glass windows that allow natural light to illuminate the white interior. The cathedral offers free admission and permits photography for personal use. It holds royal connections and was consecrated in the presence of the Queen.
Guildford Cathedral is a breathtaking landmark perched on Stag Hill, offering panoramic views of the surrounding town. The cathedral’s modern yet striking architecture stands out, featuring a blend of contemporary and traditional design. The interior is spacious, bright, and beautifully maintained, creating a peaceful and uplifting atmosphere for visitors. One of the highlights of Guildford Cathedral is its sense of serenity. The space is impeccably clean, well-organized, and exudes a welcoming ambiance. Whether you visit for worship, reflection, or simply to admire the structure, the calm environment adds to the experience. The cathedral is also known for its excellent acoustics, making it a popular venue for choral performances and events. Located in a convenient area, the cathedral is just a short distance from a well-stocked gift shop offering a variety of souvenirs, books, and local crafts. Visitors can easily find unique mementos to take home. Additionally, the surrounding grounds are well-kept, offering a peaceful spot to stroll or sit. Safety and accessibility are well-considered, with friendly staff available to assist. Overall, Guildford Cathedral is a must-visit for those who appreciate architecture, history, and a tranquil atmosphere. Whether you're a local or a traveler, this iconic site provides a memorable experience.

12 oct 2025. This morning travel by rail from London Waterloo at 10am to Guildford to meet up with friend for a 3 hours walking visit to Guildford. Wonderful walk up the hill from railway station. & town centre.
Muihua N — Google review
Guildford's most recognisable landmark, this modernist cathedral was designed in the 1930s by Edward Maufe, and consecrated in 1961. The imposing red brick tower is visible from much of Guildford thanks to the cathedral's elevated position at the top of Stag Hill, affording it good views over town. The cathedral's exterior is simple, but with enough detail not to appear austere. The statues on the west front are the newest feature, added in 2005. Stepping inside, I was immediately struck by how bright and spacious the cathedral felt, the large windows allowing an abundance of natural light to reach the building's interior. High ceilings and towering arches further enhance the sense of space. The cathedral is very well maintained, spotlessly clean inside and out. The blue ceiling decoration and sparkling organ pipes stand out amongst internal features. Services are held regularly and events are hosted on special occasions, so it's worth checking the website before visiting to be sure you'll be able to look inside. There's accessible onsite parking for visitors to the cathedral, while a café, shop and toilet facilities are located inside.
Andrew T — Google review
Located on top of the hill and you have a good view of the town. It’s a huge place but decoration is simple and modest which makes it beautiful. An amazing place to visit.
Roobik E — Google review
Lovely modern cathedral. Free parking for 2 hours is a bonus, giving you plenty of time to walk around. Easy to access from the motorway too.
Bruce L — Google review
Guildford Cathedral’s simple, modernist architecture feels both grand and welcoming. A lovely stop if you’re in the area, whether for history, quiet contemplation, or just a great view over Guildford.
RithuTheExplorer V — Google review
One of the newer British Cathedrals built in the 20th century. Aestheticly pleasing but somewhat too clean and lacking atmosphere as with many of its older contemporaries
Yoav G — Google review
This modern looking cathedral in Surrey is very underrated in my opinion. You will need a car to visit unless you live nearby of course. It is located at the top of Stag Hill with spectacular views of the countryside around. The cafe is pleasant with enough food and drink choices for the length of your stay. The cathedral shop has a really good selection of related things to remind you of your visit. Once done with these, the cathedral awaits you. There is no entry charge but a place for a voluntary contribution is available. The beautiful interior is calm and encourages you enter the space filled with light. Unlike most of our cathedrals this is not in a city with many passerbys, so the peace and quiet in this lovely space can be appreciated. I loved it. Thank you Guildford

Garden
Stoke Park is a sprawling 52-hectare park in Guildford, offering unspoiled grassland and scenic views. It boasts various attractions such as a playground, skate park, boating pond, mini-golf, and a fitness trail. The park features a recently restored Japanese garden and a fragrant rose garden. Awarded the Green Flag annually, it retains much of its 18th-century layout since being donated to Guildford in 1925.
It is a wonderful little park for children with a few facilities that we hadn't seen elsewhere. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

What a wonderful Park, with a fountain ⛲️ and a lake 🌊 had quiet a few courts aswell and a kids playground too. A lovely place no doubt on a nice sunny day but actually came here at the beginning of winter last year. Would love to go back in nicer weather when in Guildford next 😊

Tranquil and beautiful. There’s a kids playground, mini golf course, shallow pool which was closed off on the day that I visited & a pristine Pond.

Stock Park is a great place to visit! I had a really nice experience overall — the environment was pleasant and everything was well-maintained. Definitely worth checking out.
Rohith K — Google review
A great and large park to visit. The Japanese garden is really nice and scenic and everything seems well maintained. Can be a bit muddy but a great spot to walk around
Sen Q — Google review
Stoke Park is located around 12 minutes away from Guildford High Street by walk. It is a 52 acre open park with trees on a corner, children’s park on another side with a paddling pool and model boat pond, skate boarding rink on yet another side. The Stoke park itself is open always, the children’s park may have some time slots though. The space and openness of park provides a sense of feel good and freedom. People with dogs often bring them to the park for a walk and some play. In summer it’s also a good place to have picnics and generally absorb the sunlight.
Duke F — Google review
Visited for Guildford park run. Good size park with lots of outdoor activities going on throughout the day. I parked in the fabulous leisure center opposite. I walked into the town from here and then a bus back and short walk through the park. If your in Guilford and looking for outdoor walks then this is for you.

Been there a few months later, is almost how I remembered it. Obviously there have been changes. Some of the exhibits are still the same. Opening hours are as follows: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday open from 12 until 4:30pm, last admission 4pm. Closed all other days

Cute little museum with a lot of items from different periods to look at. Would spend more than 10-15 mins here. Got accessible toilet on the ground floor and kids area

It is a small museum. Friendly staff with good local knowledge guided me to find the castle nearby. The display there isn't much interested to some people.

Newlands Corner is a renowned park in Surrey, known for its historical significance and stunning natural beauty. It offers panoramic views of the Surrey Hills and is an ideal starting point for leisurely walks. The area features open fields, woodlands with diverse flora, and chalk grassland that blooms with vibrant wildflowers during spring and summer. Visitors can also explore nearby villages like Shere and Albury, known for their quaint shops.
The view from the top of Newlands Corner is really beautiful, especially on a day with nice weather. There are plenty of easy to find, stable paths to walk on that would be suitable for people with reduced walking stability and even wheelchair users. There are also less accessible paths to walk on, should you wish to get a bit more adventurous and walk through the wooded areas. The car park is also spacious and the bays are easy to park in. There are also designated disabled parking spaces available for people who may find them useful.

Newlands Corner is a wonderful spot in the Surrey Hills with beautiful views over the countryside. It’s a peaceful place where you can enjoy nature, whether you’re walking, cycling, or just relaxing and taking in the scenery. The trails are well-marked and suitable for different levels, from gentle strolls to longer hikes through the woodland and open fields. There’s parking available on-site, and facilities like toilets and a café, which makes it convenient for families and visitors. It’s also dog-friendly, so it’s a popular place for dog walkers. On clear days, the views are absolutely stunning, and it’s a great place for photography or a picnic. Overall, Newlands Corner is a perfect destination for fresh air, exercise, and enjoying the beauty of the Surrey Hills countryside.

A very beautiful and lively park. Parking is free but fills up quickly, especially on weekends. There are public restrooms and a café I didn’t have the time to visit. There are three different walking routes, all suitable for all ages. I highly recommend it.

Watts Gallery - Artists' Village is a purpose-built Edwardian art gallery located near Guildford, dedicated to the works of Victorian painter G.F. Watts. The site includes the artist's home, a beautiful forest to explore, and a dedicated shop for visitors to enjoy tea. Founded by artists Mary Seton Watts and George Frederick, this cultural hub offers a blend of old and modern art in an appealing setting.
We really enjoyed our visit to the Watts Gallery. The paintings by by George Watts weren't to my taste, but I enjoyed the other works, and specifically those by his wife Mary. The chapel in the cemetery is truly wonderful and worth a visit on it's own. The whole chapel building and internal artwork is magnificent. The tea shop has good gluten free cakes and meal options, which is a bonus for coeliacs. It was busy and well run by friendly staff. The gift shop is exquisite. Overall, a great place to wonder at an interesting slice of British art, slight excentricity dollop of philanthropy.
Quentin L — Google review
A lovely spot. The location, building, café and art are great. The staff very helpful. The signing could be a little clearer particularly as it was our first visit. Would have loved to see a bit more of the house. The daffodils were out it was a lovely sunny but cold day. The Chapel is wonderful.
Yinnon E — Google review
This is an amazing place. It should be better known. The complex includes a substantial gallery of 19c art, the artists home and studio, a visitor centre with shops and cafe, AND a memorial church with cloister! I only heard of it cos we are members of Historic Houses. We went on a Bank Holiday and it was still pretty quiet. The impression is of a disorganised staff relying heavily on volunteers, making the £18 entry feel pretty steep. Good cafe in visitor centre and a nice little satellite in the house.
Mike S — Google review
Watts Gallery is actually at least three different experiences. There is the Watts Chapel in the nearby cemetery with unique designs inside and out. Then there is the Limnerslease House across the road from the main gallery, and of course the galleries themselves. Entrance to the house and the main gallery costs £18.00 and seems a bit much for what we get. Entrance to the chapel and an exhibition space is free, and we enjoyed the temporary exhibition of cartoons by the Cartoonist of The Times.
T H — Google review
The Watts Gallery is a wonderful tribute to two prolific and talented artists and showcases a large body of their work. The entrance fee allows entry both to the gallery and to the nearby home and studios of the artists so is good value. The staff were very knowledgeable and keen to share their knowledge which puts the works in a historical and cultural context. I just wish I had allowed more time for my visit as 3.5 hours wasn't enough!
Chris H — Google review
Fabulous visit and tour, so much to see and learn about the history of the place as well as current exhibitions. highly recommend exploring the gardens, shop and beautiful cafe.
Vovcenco M — Google review
This is an amazing Arts and Craft Gallery with lots to learn about how the gallery, grounds and house fits into the local area. The grounds are interesting to walk around and also to visit the Chapel, which is amazing.

Notable street
High St in Guildford is a charming pedestrian street featuring historic shop-fronts displaying gold, silver, and designer jewelry, as well as trendy fashion items. The northern side of the street is home to smaller and older establishments, while the southern side boasts modern buildings and access to shopping centers like Tunsgate Square. Visitors can explore nearby cafes, restaurants, and bars for a delightful shopping experience. Street entertainers add to the lively atmosphere while at the top of High St, stunning town views await.
About as good a high street as you can expect these days, mostly good shops, not just estate agents, charity shops and closed shops, like most high streets outside of major cities.
Andy W — Google review
A decent shopping mall with a variety of stores and food courts. There are all the usual food courts, including Greggs, McDonald's, and coffee shops. You may walk to the Guildford Castle, which is right next to the main street.
Babji V — Google review
Beautiful high street with shops, restaurants and cafes.
Aom A — Google review
Guildford High Street is such a lovely place to walk through. The cobbled street, old buildings, and that big golden clock on the Guildhall give it so much character. There’s a nice mix of high street shops, little boutiques, cafés, and the occasional market or street performer, which makes it feel really lively. It’s great for a relaxed afternoon—whether you’re shopping, grabbing a coffee, or just taking in the historic vibe. The views looking down the High Street are especially pretty, and spots like Tunsgate Arch and Abbot’s Hospital add a real sense of charm. Definitely one of the nicest high streets around.
Ajay R — Google review

As far as a street goes, this one’s pretty special…. If Harry Potter needed a town center, and an old bricked road, I’d recommend this to him. Lots of little passageways shooting off the street, great spots for casting spells or crying about the end of the world…

Dapdune Wharf offers a deep dive into the history of River Wey Navigations and the lives of bargemen. Visitors can also enjoy a leisurely cruise along the river, providing a unique perspective of Guildford's landmarks. The site hosts various events like guided walks and orientation weekends throughout the year. Additionally, there is an on-site bookshop with preloved books, and proceeds from sales contribute to maintaining the riverways.
Parking is expensive at £5 (free if National Trust member) but that’s one set price and you don’t pay anything for entry, so it’s totally worth it. Signal is terrible so if you can’t get on Ringo, go to the cabin to pay. We went through the exhibitions (small, interactive, quick but lovely) then down to a beautiful bookshed! The shed has lots of preloved books that are so wonderful and peculiar! The money raised from the sale of books goes towards the riverways. We didn’t have time to do the walk too sadly but apparently it’s beautiful. There is a tearooms with toilets & a garden.

What a fantastic place for Adults and children alike. Was in Guildford and went to have a look. thre was some sort of festival going on. Amazing atmosphere and a book shop and cafe there too.

Churches & Cathedrals
Watts Chapel, located in the serene village of Compton near Guildford, is an Arts-and-Crafts marvel built in 1898. The chapel boasts intricate terra cotta carvings and elaborate paintings adorning its interior. Designed by Mary Fraser-Tytler and constructed with the help of local villagers, this Grade I-listed building showcases Romanesque Revival architecture on the outside and an Art Nouveau interpretation of Celtic Revival inside.
What a beautiful setting and artistic achievement! The creativity, thoughtfulness and craft of this little gem made our day. The nearby artist village had a lovely café and fantastic arts shop. Lovely afternoon.

A beautiful small chapel. I would recommend visiting as part of the Watts Artist village gallery and House to understand the full context and history.
Richard M — Google review
A wonderful gem of a terracotta chapel with intricate ceramic work created by the local community inspired, designed and managed by artist Mary Watts. When you think you have seen all of the outside, your eyes fall on another wonderful detail. And yet another. And then you still have the inside with its beautiful frescos and the cemetery itself to see. Really worth the visit.
Hetty H — Google review
If you're looking for something unique, please don't miss this chapel, even if it's just 5minutes out of your day. Incredible architecture which is well explained inside the Chapel. Have always found the space unlocked to enjoy. We parked at the nearby Watts Gattery and took the short 5min walk there.
Colin H — Google review
What a stunning piece of architecture, both inside and out. Worth a detour if you're in the area for sure.
Mike B — Google review
Stunning arts and crafts chapel with wonderful terracotta detailing outside, and spectacular colour and decoration within. The unusual design by Mary Watts is like no other I've seen in the UK. The chapel is open daily, softly illuminated inside and includes a book of information in the centre of the room. The cemetery itself is very peaceful and worth a walk around while visiting. There's a small amount of parking by the road outside.

Watts Chapel is a true spectacle, situated in an unexpected location that adds to its splendour. The stunning art deco reliefs captivate with intricate details, creating a visual spectacle. The architectural structure exudes powerful femininity, making it a unique and empowering experience. A real hidden masterpiece, Watts Chapel beautifully combines art and architecture to leave a lasting impression.
Curtis H — Google review
Blown away by this beautiful little chapel in the village cemetery of Compton in Surrey. The inside walls are completely covered with lavish decoration in terracotta relief carving and paintings. According to the local council, it is "a unique concoction of art nouveau, Celtic, Romanesque and Egyptian influence”. My photos in no way capture the beauty and creativity that it bestows. Simply stunning!

The Spike Heritage Centre, located in Guildford, offers a glimpse into the harsh living conditions of the Edwardian era. Visitors can take guided tours of the Guildford Union Workhouse and learn about the difficult lives of its inmates. The museum provides insight into the hardships faced by homeless individuals and vagrants during that time. It serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by those less fortunate in early 20th-century society.
My friend and I had a few hours to spare in Guildford so went for a tour of the Spike. I found it fascinating and the dedicated and passionate volunteers give you a tour which includes a video and tell you all about the building and the history and heritage. You were a real highlight, thankyou for our tour!
Sally K — Google review
Very interesting, lovely well informed volunteers took us round. Learnt a lot. It is cold so you need a jumper or jacket.
Sue M — Google review
We finally visited the spike centre today. John our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. I visited with my grandchildren and he made their experience memorable and enjoyable as well. Thank you for the work that you do and well worth a visit. I would strongly recommend.

I came across the Spike Heritage Centre after reading George Orwell's Down and Out in Paris and London. I'm so glad I visited, it was a really interesting experience led by our knowledgeable guide Dennis. This is living history and encourages reflection on one of the most important issues in our society today. Very well preserved and worth a visit
Angela S — Google review
We went today and we want to give a special thank you to the dedicated staff for the amazing tour! They gave us a good scope of how the centre operated and the living conditions under which the occupants suffered. They also gave us a detailed history of the building it self. It was super interesting, we enjoyed it immensely.

You walk through prosperous Guildford and come to this reminder of what was available for "vagrants " early in the 20th Century. Stone breaking, spiking oakum or 2d to stay the night.

A great experience all round uncovering a dark, bleak bit of history. Even though most of it was demolished, seeing the casual ward of the old workhouse is still fascinating and enlightening. I had a great tour delivered by Dennis who was very knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and tolerated me constantly interrupting with questions! An excellent guide with plenty of insights into The Spike. I also picked up some great little booklets from the shop, and was assisted by Christine who was also lovely. Had a great chat with her as well. Fascinating place and lovely staff! Would recommend to all, but do take a coat if you're going any time other than Summer. It's chilly!

I've lived in Guildford for a while but had no idea this was here until a friend suggested visiting. We were shown around by a friendly volunteer guide and found it really interesting and quite moving. A real piece of social history I knew nothing about. Well worth a visit - and we were even given a cup of tea and a biscuit!

Live music venue
The Boileroom Music and Cultural Arts Space is a vibrant venue in Guildford that offers live music events, vintage fairs, and even houses an in-house noodle bar. Known for its alternative music scene, the venue hosts performances almost daily, typically starting at 7-7:30 pm. While parking nearby is limited, there's ample space in the multi-storey car park opposite.
A cool venue with posters all over the walls and ceilings. They do not provide glasses and you will buy your own plastic cup for £1.50 (not refundable). It's cashless and there are toilets on site. I had a great night there and will go again
D B — Google review
We came to The Boileroom to watch Charli2Na and it was our first ever time visiting. Parking/ Finding the venue: Via google maps is easy and very accurate but i dont reccommend driving to the venue, drive to the nearby multistorey and walk, its only a couple of minutes walk or take a train/bus. The Waitrose opposite physically locks its gates 30mins after closing so dont park there! Theres a bus stop on the main route opposite. At the door: Staff were super helpful friendly and welcoming. Drinks: Reasonably priced, i believe you can pay a 1.50 cup fee and buy/ reuse your cup for the night which is a very cool incentive to reduce waste and water etc. Bar staff: Super friendly and happy, informative and welcoming. The venue: For a gig is intimate, which is honestly great, but if youre seeing a well known act (as reviews below also advise) i'd say get there early so that you find a good place to stand. The layout of the stage in relation to access routes and the bar areas can make it tricky to see the stage and stand comfortably if the venue is nearer capacity- this is the only real downside to the venue id say. I do apprexiate however that this is generally the case at gigs that you arrive early for a better view, but it was quite frustrating at times that it was so restricted (see attached photos from our view) i do appreciate that this cannot realistically be helped though, so this is not reflected in the score. Atmosphere: Truely this gig still gives me a warm feeling to think about it, the fact staff were so incredibly welcoming made my previous stresses over trying to find parking, quickly settle! The crowd were fantastic, diverse range of ages all very excited for and enthusiastic of the main act. The sound: The gig was fairly quiet actually, id have loved perhaps for a tiny bit more volume, again though, this may be in part influenced by the location/angle we were stood. It did mean that chit chat of nearby people at the bar could interfere with your experience- again, get there earlier. I imagine too, being on the outskirts of a residential area, there may be restrictions on noise limits for the sake of neighbouring properties and earlier shut off times may be enforced for this sake, especially on midweek shows. Overall: Fantastic venue Get there early Dont park in Waitrose Buy your cup and save some wastage Be kind to the staff as theyre doing an amazing job. Prepare for a fantastic evening.

Great music venue - stage and inside bar. Good bar prices. Gets very hot inside if crowded. Outside garden with tables - limited food and drink available to purchase.

I went to see Ariel Posen on his first day of tour in the UK, he clearly felt at home in the Boileroom and I believe it’s a very special place for a lot of musicians. The atmosphere was great in this urban looking pub/cultural establishment. Cons: the drinks price is a bit on the high side (over £8 for a pint)
Cristina A — Google review
Had a fantastic night at the Boiler room. The staff were so friendly and the drinks prices were very reasonable. We went on a Monday night watching 'headliners of tomorrow' the atmosphere was amazing with all the bands supporting each other. Our favourite was an all girl Rock band called Bloodlines they rocked.
David M — Google review
Saw Hue and Cry last night at the Boileroom. Awesome band and great acoustic set was let down by it being ridiculously hot - so hot we kept having to go outside, poor sound mixing and lots of drunk people off to one side talking super loudly and disturbing everyone. Not my first visit to the Boileroom but probably my last. Disappointing venue - but excellent band
Sarah W — Google review
leaving a 1 star review because we ate at “the haus of wurst” and the food was absolutely inedible. I never usually complain about food but the pretzel was like a brick, just so so stale, and the curry wurst was completely cold and bland. They also didn’t provide the aperol spritz it was meant to come with in their “meal deal” and said we had to go to the bar. Well we went to the bar and they said they can’t do it either, so we didn’t get the drink that we paid for either. We returned the food as it was totally and completely inedible, it really was that bad... Was told would get a refund but they never did and this is why I’m leaving the 1 star review.

The boiler room is a fantastic small local music venue. When a few hundred people are packed into the tiny space you get a real buzzy atmosphere. The bar staff are friendly and efficient. There is also a nice patio area outside which is ideal to cool down on warm nights.

Scenic spot
Pewley Down is a 23-acre nature reserve located on the outskirts of Guildford, just a short walk from the town center. The rolling grassland offers stunning views of the countryside and town, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and recharging. Visitors can enjoy walking along footpaths while taking in the beautiful landscapes and watching horses. It's also a great place for birdwatching and connecting with nature, with easy access to nearby woodlands and St Martha's Church.
It’s beautiful place and serene . Go with family and friends take some snacks and drinks with u on sunny day with lovely views .
Harish — Google review
Nicely kept area of scenic countryside that narrowly escaped housing development before being saved by the community. A modern monument to its preservation stands at the top of the down. The location, right on the edge of Guildford, makes it easily accessible from town. It's also reasonably close to St Martha's Hill, where free parking is available. Heading to Pewley Down from here and back through Chantry Wood makes for a very pleasant circular walk. There are quite a few benches around the top of the down, overlooking lovely views and providing the ideal place for a short rest stop. On the north side, there are far reaching views over Guildford and its unusual cathedral.
Andrew T — Google review
The views across the surrounding countryside are truly rewarding, especially on a clear day, when the rolling hills and patchwork fields stretch out before you. Within the woods themselves, you’ll find a lovely mix of trees, some striking in size and shape, creating a calming canopy overhead. The atmosphere here is wonderfully tranquil—you really do feel as though you’ve stepped away from the bustle of everyday life. On our visit, we were fortunate to enjoy warm, sunny weather, which made the experience even more memorable. Whether you’re walking alone, with a partner, or as a family, Chantry Woods is an ideal spot to relax, breathe in the fresh air, and reconnect with nature. For those planning a visit, there is a free car park nearby, making access easy and stress-free. In addition, there is a small, privately run campsite close to the woods, which must be booked in advance. Facilities include water outlets and toilets, though these appear to be seasonal. When we visited, the site was empty and the WCs were closed, but it looks like it would be a peaceful place to stay for anyone wishing to extend their time in the area. Overall, Chantry Woods is a delightful walking destination, offering just the right mix of woodland charm, open vistas, and gentle hills. It’s a wonderful reminder of the natural beauty lying just beyond Guildford, waiting to be explored. If you’re looking for a refreshing countryside escape, this walk is well worth adding to your list.

Absolutely stunning place. Especially, ones you get on the top of the hill it's just breathtaking views. Not far from London. Great, getaway to recharge and relax. Lovely people on the trails. Love it and recommended. Perfect to relax, recharge, hike. To add more, to this beautiful view, also you will find horses to watch - stunning.

One of my favourite places for a dog walk. Beautiful views and only a short walk from the Chantries woodland and St Martha's Church.
Kasia L — Google review
Super chill hill, great for dog lover ✨😳 Perfect for a picnic, you can see a wonderful view of the farm down the hill. Easy to go, doesn't take long to walk from the town center.
Gym S — Google review
A lovely view and outdoor space incredibly close to the town centre if you don’t mind walking up the hill. Has been busy during COVID which is nice to see as people are using the space to get some fresh air and exercise. Bikes are allow along here, great access to the Surrey Hills if you are into riding. If you are lucky you might see a Deer in the chantry woods which are looked over from Pewley down
Rob D — Google review
Nice to escape the town, even though it's a nice town. Some attractive ( and expensive ) properties enroute up to the downs but worth the walk. Views over to the right coming out of town are quintessential English countryside. Sadly, for me anyway, the views to the left once u head through the hedgerows to look back toward town and the nature reserve, are somewhat spoilt by an unacceptable housing development of identical town houses stretching in a long line away from the town. Personally I think the planning department in allowing this are not lovers of nature or country walks or even interesting English architecture. It's an eyesore. And yes, I do understand a need for housing, but I would not have allowed this to blight the area. Hence not a five stars for me.

Loseley Park, located just outside the village of Compton in Surrey, is a well-preserved Elizabethan manor house with guided tours showcasing its period furnishings and historical significance. The property boasts original decor and offers various rooms for ceremonies and receptions, each exuding a unique charm. Its picturesque gardens provide stunning backdrops for wedding photos.
Lovely gardens, the scent in the rose garden is amazing. Very quiet, not many people which is nice, limited opening times so check before you go. August is the last month the garden is open, house is not. Friendly staff and lovely tea room.

We visited the gardens on 10th August and they were stunning! Each garden room had plenty of interest, but the room full of rudbeckias, heleniums etc was really spectacular!! There was so much colour - it is a show-stopping room at this time of year.

Spectacular garden! Several differently themed areas within large walled garden. So much colour and planting to explore and enjoy. Lovely cafe. Card payment only. Sadly closing for autumn/winter tomorrow- seems a shame when garden is very much still in full bloom.

Rich in history and well kept. The tour of the house was particularly good as our guide was very knowledgeable..The garden was also managed really well, the roses were a dream to behold and the fragrance beautiful. The only knock back was the food on offer was very limited and over priced.
John G — Google review
Wonderful, slightly wild RHS garden cared for by volunteers. Entrance fee goes to a children's hospice founded by the family who own the land, in memory of their son who died aged 12. The gardens are varied, some tidier than other. Not really much in the way of lawns, so this is one for those who love their flowers and shrubs. Good (if a little pricey) meals and teas/coffees in the outdoor cafe.

Amazing experience today for my daughter’s Birthday! Great staff working there super helpful and friendly. My kids did the jumping and climbing experience and the instructor was super caring helpful and nice. Reception supervisor lady also very helpful and kind. Definitely recommend this place very clean also and well time managed - never over crowded and super spacious.

Loved the place. Visited again as kids who visit us are also asking for this place. Of course, in these past few years, they have become popular and widely accepted as kids-tour-spot But i personally feel it is a small place cos they started the walk-in booking. This makes it difficult to predict the high number of visitors - as well as the parking is quite difficult at times. This hurricane Simulation was a big catch for the kids this time. ❤️.. Well, not many of these kinds are nearby so I'm still gonna visit.
Felix J — Google review
I went with my 2 daughters on Sunday, and Isabelle was absolutely lovely. Very friendly and helpful, especially when my children were nervous. Great experience overall. xx
Christina H — Google review
Awful staff from the receptionists, they would much rather have children cry due to their inability to manage a que. Was more than happy to have my child miss 10 minutes from the previous session and get to jump with his friends but the teenage girl behind the till would much rather laugh in our faces than allow a 5 year old to bounce with his friends. Absolutely awful customer service, I spent over £500 booking my sons part here in May and this is the way the staff treat us. Was informed the staff are motivated to sell summer passes and get a £50 voucher for whoever sells the most. Yet when it comes to claiming and using the summer passes they don’t want to allow us to use them.
Dan — Google review
The children loved this spot i especially like the fact that I can follow them around to keep an eye on how they are behaving without any additional charges
Pumula M — Google review
I have been here several times before yet my experience today has put me off coming back. There were several children licking and biting the balls in the dodgeball court and taking them into a corner. However, not a single staff member was watching the dodgeball so this continued, was never dealt with and having no staff there seemed very unsafe for children. In addition to this the ‘unlimited refill bottle’ we bought at the counter actually costed £2 every time we wanted to refill it which we weren’t told about until we went to refill it. The wipeout machine has also been significantly downgraded for any older children as the upper bar is now significantly lower, it moves a lot slower and no longer even turns. Finally the staff didn’t seem to enforce any of the rules as there was a pair of children wrestling on one of the platforms and then they fell off and all they did was watch. There were also children climbing on things they shouldn’t, not moving in the assault course (making it unusable) and 3 children on a trampoline several times and the staff didn’t seem nothing which is a huge risk to children’s safety and fun. Overall this was a terrible experience at somewhere that used to be fun.
Will F — Google review
I don’t normally leave reviews, but for this I feel I must. I visited this activity center yesterday with my 3 sons. We have had brilliant experiences with airhop in camberly so we thought that the Guildford airhop would be just as amazing as we have had in the past. Boy was I wrong, it looked physically impossible for all the lovely staff to handle all of these children with only a couple of them working in each area. Considering a lot of incidents, falls and injuries that happen at a place full of trampolines, not properly supervised there is bound to be more issues for the employees/ managers to manage. NOT ALL but most employees look burn out, defected and exhausted from having to be working twice as hard as they can because there is not enough staff working with them. As result staff just end up standing by watching as children commonly do not listen. A lovely lady Sophie came to help us connect to the somewhat slow WiFi. Sophie was a very friendly staff member and airhop should be very proud to have her, she is so good with kids yet very Sturn when needed and I saw that most kids would change their behaviour once she told them what was expected. She was also very attentive to our needs and was very helpful and kind to my boys. The only reason this review is high is because I feel the staff are trying the best at what is asked of them, but this is getting out of hand and unsafe with little supervision and seemingly under appreciation towards their staff.

National Trust - River Wey and Godalming Navigations and Dapdune Wharf is a serene attraction in Surrey, offering a glimpse into the history of the River Wey. The navigations stretch for about 20 miles from Godalming to Weybridge, showcasing the early British river navigation. Visitors can enjoy picnics by the water, explore a small museum with river navigation artifacts, and take boat trips along the channel.
Gorgeous national trust site just out of central Guildford. Entry is free, only need to pay for parking. On site there is a tea room, second hand book store, and an open air museum. Over the summer they host various activity days and kids sports. Businesses in site where you can hire smaller boats like kayaks, or bigger electric boats. The national trust also offer slippered boat tours at a very good price.

Historic location in central Guildford where you can learn about the river and navigation and the barges that once travelled on them. The location belongs to The National Trust . Entry is free but they do offer a 40 minute trip on one of their boats where you get to enjoy the river and get lots of information about the navigation and the businesses who piled their trades there. The trip is £8.90 but IMO well worth it. They have a barge in dry dock which once carried goods there and have done exhibitions to see. There is a cafe and a huge second hand book shop which is very reasonable. Parking is free and there is a public toilet too!

First time visit for our four generation family and will definitely return. Only spent a couple of hours here today ( during school summer holiday)because we had also promised children a visit to nearby Stoke Park but next time, we will stay here for longer. Access to the car park is behind Guildford Cricket Ground - word of caution; on match days, cars and cricket spectators share the same lane but the cricket club does have traffic attendants who halt spectators and guide cars safely. On a warm summers day, it was wonderful to hear the background sounds of the cricket match. There is an overflow car park on grass with the main, smallish, car park on gravel, which was a bit of a challenge for wheelchair. However, the scenery at Dapdune Wharf is so calming and tranquil that this bit of inconvenience is worth it. Delicious cake, coffee and tea at the cafe. Our 4 year old tried pond dipping ( equipment and bug guide lent for free by National Trust). Took a wonder through the trees and open green spaces where some activities laid on for children. Saw several types of boats on the River Wey whilst picnicking on river side. Next time, plan to walk the tow path towards the lock gates and to see more of the River Wey. Gave this 4 stars because of accessibility for our wheelchair user but we acknowledge that unspoilt and historic spaces don't necessarily have solid paths etc. Hidden little gem , nonetheless. Thank you, National Trust

A true hidden gem, in rather an unexpected place. Worth going out of your way to stop off here - the whole experience was rather lovely. The site is fascinating and a little different to typical national trust venues - it had a little tea room, a very nice children's playground, some nice walking and an impressive second hand bookshop. Were there for around 2 hours could easily have spent a couple more there. Would love to come back and take a boat trip.

A very interesting insight to the barge builders life at Dapdune Wharf in Guildford. Set by the river it's a very interesting insight to a life in a lovely setting. There is lots of information about William Stevens and his sons who started the business, building the barges for them to carry goods to London. Plus there is a barge onsite which was recovered from the riverbed, restored and placed on site to visit.

Chantry Wood is a 200-acre ancient woodland and meadow reserve located near Guildford. It offers stunning hillside views of the surrounding area, including Chilworth, Chinthurst Hill, and St. Martha's. The wood is part of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is perfect for leisurely walks through bluebell-filled landscapes in spring. Visitors can also access the long-distance Greensand Way from here.
Stunning woodland, especially in the bluebell season. Great for a dog walk, but be mindful of deer, squirrels and rabbits. Lovely place to run, there are many paths and spits to explore. The main path with vehicle access is part of the North Downs Way.

This is such a wonderful place for a gentle stroll or a picnic, and an absolute must-see destination in the Spring, when the bluebells are in bloom. The carpet of pretty flowers, with their delicious fragrance, set among contrasting lime green beech leaves is a tonic for the soul. There's a free car park nearby at Halfpenny Lane or you can even walk from Guildford, and you won't need a jetpack to get here. You should also consider combining your visit with a walk up to St. Martha's Church for some great views over the Tillingbourne Valley. If you've got a dog, bring it - dogs like it here. Your dog will have fun!

Seeking a peaceful nature escape near Guildford? Chantry Woods is a must-visit, especially now! It's a bluebell paradise, with vast carpets of vibrant blue creating a truly magical and fragrant experience. Late April/early May is peak bluebell season – don't miss it for a truly beautiful and calming experience! Remember to stick to the paths to protect the flowers.

Attractive area of woodland at its best during the Bluebell flowering season from mid April to early May. Walking through the woods and enjoying the occasional views over the Surrey Hills, you'd never guess you were so close to the edge of Guildford. There's free parking at St Martha's Hill a few minutes walk away. It's a great place for short dog walks not far out of town, or a good starting point for longer walks. Well marked paths head out over Martha's Hill and down into the Tillingbourne valley at Chilworth Gunpowder Mills.

RHS Garden Wisley, located in Wisley Lane, Woking GU23 6QB, spans over 200 acres and boasts a diverse collection of more than 25,000 plant species. Visitors can explore the famous Borders with its lush foliage and fragrant flowers or marvel at The Glasshouse, which houses a world-class collection of rare and endangered plants within its expansive space.
We attended an evening “walkies at Wisley” earlier in the week. What an amazing event. Beautiful gardens open to well behaved dogs (and owners) for an evening stroll. Thoroughly enjoyed it. So did our dog, who seemed to have a big smile on his face the whole time. We just wished we were able to come to the previous Walkies evenings. Please, please have more of these throughout the year. We also would have eaten here too if some of the cafes/restaurants were open, or even offered a pre-ordered picnic basket of sorts. Lines at the few mobile drinks/ice cream van spots were quite long. We saw some very inspiring people had brought picnics and were rather envious of their spread, sitting amongst the beautiful gardens. Very inspiring so we will plan better before next visit. We will be back when we can bring our little doggy again. Please do consider adding more Walkies dates.

The Versailles of British gardening If Kew is the King, then Wisley is unquestionably the Crown Prince beautifully groomed, impeccably mannered, and dripping in horticultural old-money charm. The borders are magnificent. The glasshouse is a cathedral of tropical splendour. Even the ducks appear to have degrees in botany. You don’t visit Wisley you take pilgrimage. Spring brings tulips arranged with mathematical perfection. Summer is dahlia heaven. Autumn is a masterclass in fiery foliage. Winter? Even the frost looks curated. The gift shop deserves its own postcode and a security guard you will leave with at least one book you didn’t need, a mug you don’t have room for, and seeds for plants you cannot pronounce. This is simply the Wisley effect. Bring: Comfortable shoes A packed lunch (or a willing wallet the café is delicious but not for the faint-pursed) A camera, because the borders humiliate your own garden mercilessly If you love plants, go. If you don’t love plants, go anyway you will by the end.

Great place to walk around and blow the cobwebs off on a drizzly Sunday afternoon. The autumnal colours are amazing there's still a surprising number of flowers out. Well with a visit. Check out annual passes as they may not be much more than a day pass (especially if you're a student!).

Stunning day out with the family, to be in awe of nature. Mind-blowing how many different trees/plants/flowers there are around you (all labelled!) and how exquisitely they are maintained by the RHS Wisley team. Managed to get discounted tickets and thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing day of walking around all of the different gardens. The indoor glass house is also amazing in what feels like a rainforest climate! Definitely one to check out for the day to get in the clean air and appreciate the incredible creation around us! Ample free parking available.

Fabulous place. Gardens have amazing colours for Autumn. The Glasshouse was my favourite. There was a craft fair there today which had wonderful things. Didn't get round all of it today. So much to see.
Sarah K — Google review
Been meaning to go here for years and finally made it on what felt like the hottest day of the year so far. The gardens were beautifully maintained and the old house was a stunning backdrop to some of my photos. I particularly liked the fact there are several cafes dotted strategically around the grounds which enabled us to grab a tea or top up our water bottles as required. All told we had a lovely day out but be prepared for a long walk.

The colours of the autumn leaves were beautiful today. Some amazing plants both in the greenhouses and outside in the gardens. We had a lovely day with the bonus of the Craft and jewellery fair to visit and browse the variety of wonderful products.

The Autumn is as always colourful. Flowering plants are in pastel colours beautifully arranged. Very good and easy walking conditions; this time my friend has been able to use the electric buggy and to enjoy the outing. Pumpkin display was very artistic. An opportunity to take the pictures.

Pub

The Weyside is a charming riverside pub located in Guildford, just a short distance from the bustling High Street. With its picturesque setting overlooking the tranquil River Wey, this homely venue offers a delightful escape from the town's hustle and bustle. The interior boasts a carefully crafted design with wood beams, armchairs, and a terrace for alfresco dining. Guests can enjoy British dishes and cask ales while taking in the waterside views from both indoors and outdoors.
I visited The Weyside in Guildford for the first time with a few friends and it turned out to be a great choice. The location itself is lovely – slightly tucked away from the main town centre, right by the river, which gives it a much more relaxed and scenic feel compared to the busier parts of Guildford. I only had drinks on this occasion, but the experience was really enjoyable. We were seated inside in a cosy room that wasn’t busy at all, so everyone in our group had plenty of space and comfort. The atmosphere was calm and welcoming, with a homely feel that made it easy to settle in and chat without having to raise our voices. One of the highlights is definitely the outside space. Being right on the river, the garden area is a beautiful spot to enjoy a drink, watch the water, and soak up the views. I can imagine on a warm summer’s evening it would be an amazing place to sit out with friends. A fun little extra is that they even sell food for the ducks, which adds to the charm and makes it feel different from a standard pub. The Weyside strikes a great balance – lively enough to have a buzz, but with plenty of areas where you can relax in comfort. I’d recommend reserving a table if you’re heading there at the weekend, as it’s popular. Overall, a lovely riverside pub I’d happily return to.

Stopped for lunch and a well needed beer after sofa shopping at Loaf. Bar staff recommended I ordered on an app which is a bit of pain in terms of signing up and giving all your personal data over to a corporate bug that is life! I couldn’t order a lager top on the app (okay don’t shoot me it was 11:50 in the morning!) Went for a cod gouging sarnie and the wife went for eggs benedict. My bread was a bit hard and not enough tartare but was decent enough. Best bit was the riverside setting, I bet it is great late afternoon/ early evening!

Absolutely loved my experience here! The riverside atmosphere is stunning — peaceful, romantic, and perfect for a relaxing evening. The food was fresh and delicious, and the staff were warm and attentive, making me feel truly welcome. A wonderful place filled with smiles and beautiful memories. Definitely a spot I’d love to return to 💖🍷🌿

We celebrated a birthday here and had a lovely time. The food was good, though the service was a little slow. The private dining space with its beautiful views over the river was definitely the highlight.

When my lawyer friend threw my crippled doctor’s crutch into the river Wey we almost threw him after it. But the staff of the Weyside jumped to our rescue led by Vanessa and a very tall chap and were able to lasso it and save the day. I commend the staff, the food and the ambiance. A word of advice for other boaters. When you have an emergency immediately throw all the lawyers overboard.
Claude W — Google review
This beautiful riverside location is rare for pubs and restaurants in Guildford. Here you have the wayside and boathouse both with lovely tranquil riverside placements. Weyside in my opinion is good pub food, nothing fancy. The service is laid back and friendly.

Excellent all around! Service was fantastic and staff went out of their way to find a great table on a Sunday so our kids would be comfortable. Food was delicious and great portion sizes. Kids roasts were huge and no one left hungry. Pub is super cozy with amazing views. I would definitely come back again and again!

Nestled in East Clandon, Hatchlands Park is a Georgian manor surrounded by 422 acres of picturesque parkland. The stately home boasts an impressive collection of art, furniture, and the renowned Cobbe Collection - Europe's largest assortment of keyboard instruments linked to famous composers. Visitors can explore the stunning bluebell wood in spring and enjoy Wizard Wix's Willow Warren, an all-natural adventure area for children.
Took my teenage daughter here today. Had a wonder round the house which was interesting with lots of paintings and pianos with so much history to them. We then took a long walk around the grounds which were beautiful. Plenty for young and old to do with a wooden playground in the woods, donkeys, and cows roaming the fields. A lovely afternoon out.

Beautiful place, peaceful, relaxing and for myself besides landscaping if I see animals around - "my day is made" - I was so happy to see cows, sheep's and special ones for the Hatchlands House is donkeys 🥰. You can have cafe, tea, some food in cafe shop. Sadly, the House was close due some work. Although, definitely I will be back and hope will explore more. There is so many path to walk around, great place for kids to play. Really recommend.

This is an excellent home to visit if you are interested in music and paintings. The paintings are incredible and to see pianos that belonged to Chopin, Mozart, Lizt etc was very special. It was also interesting to see Shakespeare's portrait and the link he had to Hatchlands. Unfortunately internal photography wasn't allowed. The gardens were not at their best, but hopefully in summer they will look fantastic!

We got free vouchers to visit the park. It was well maintained, with lots of space for the kids to explore — especially since they were currently hosting The Very Hungry Caterpillar trail, where children could explore and have their pictures taken via a QR code. Overall, it was a pleasant visit despite the extremely hot weather. The kids had fun!

Lovely place even in the rain. Nice cafe in the old kitchen. Great assortment of drinks on offer and the date flapjack and lemon drizzle cake were delicious. The dog was pretty pleased about the dog biscuits on offer too. We couldn’t go into the house because of the dog, but it’s a nice place to walk around.

Clandon Park, a National Trust property located four miles east of Guildford, is an 18th-century Palladian mansion with a rich history and beautiful gardens. Although the main house suffered fire damage in 2015, the grounds remain stunning to explore. The mansion was designed by Italian architect Giacomo Leoni and housed an impressive collection of furniture and porcelain, some of which is displayed in temporary exhibitions.
This is a must see! The house was absolutely gutted on the inside a couple of years ago from a fire, which has destroyed whole floors & all internal decoration. It is a unique opportunity to see such a property & its architectural features, whilst the MT have made it safe to visit & consider how they will restore this. A big question is whether to fully restore to its previous grandeur or now leave it as it stands & use the opportunity to tell a new story..?
David N — Google review
We are fortunate to experience many other National Trust properties throughout the UK. This one is probably the closest to where we live, so we decided to visit. Having done the red/ pink trail, we found it rather mundane and there is nothing that would immediately take one's breath away. The house was closed and surroundings aren't manicured, but there it's s fair bit of ground to explore. It's good if you are a dog walker or just want a casual stroll. I can see the paths being quite muddy in wet weather. Overall, compared to others, this NT property isn't the best kept or the most pretty. May come neck when the house reopens.
CD — Google review
Website says it's open with a photo of the house.. I come 60 miles expecting to see a house albeit recovering from fire. Only the garden lawn is open. Misleading, untrue description.
Andrew H — Google review
Very disappointed. The house is closed and wrapped after the fire. The grounds were open, but no staff around, no facilities, the grounds aren't being looked after. Ok for a little walk but not worth going out of your way for.
Neil S — Google review
Beautiful gardens. The house wasn't open for tours but there are 2 long walls with interesting history as well as the placards throughout the garden.
Stephanie C — Google review
Really fascinating time to visit, following the terrible fire in 2015. You don a hardhat and put on a high-vis jacket to enter the house. The house was completely gutted and you can see right back to the brick work. Information boards show before and after images - as well as the history of the building. Go if you can - and take advantage of this unique opportunity.
Deborah S — Google review
It's now four year's on since Clandon Park caught fire and caused massive devastation to what was a wonderful National Trust property. Unfortunately there is not too much to view at the moment. The National Trust have opened up the property so that the general public can see what remains of the property. They are hoping that they will be able to let the general public see the changes as they renovate Clandon Park and eventually reinstate it to it's former glory. I

Guildford Lido is a charming outdoor swimming spot located in Surrey. This purpose-built 1930s Olympic-sized pool is set amidst over 4 acres of landscaped gardens, offering a delightful retreat for visitors. The pool is heated to a comfortable 24 degrees and features paddling pools for children as well as a mini-golf course. Open from April to September, it hosts various events such as concerts, pool parties, and barbecues.
We went on what was probably the hottest day of the year. It was very busy but didn’t feel over crowded. Queues can be very long for food at lunchtime so order early or bring some of your own snacks. Be sure to book online as they were turning people away without advanced tickets.
Tom W — Google review
Exceeded expectations and for only £8 per person, it represented excellent value for money. It is a busy place but we still had a very enjoyable time and it was perfect for the heatwave! The pool was clean and the grit that many complain about it is coming from people walking barefoot into the water. Staff very efficient and doing their best to make sure everyone had a great time.

Wow! 50m pool gently heated to around 23° when we visited for an evening lane swim. Booked in advance via the website. Free parking on site. Clean (poolside, unheated) changing cubicles (males turn right/women left from the entrance) with plenty of hot showers, toilets, and family changing cubicles. Need 20p (non-refundable) for poolside lockers. Clean, well-maintained pool.
Anya C — Google review
We bought tickets before seeing the reviews (rookie move) and almost didn’t bother going thinking it would be akin to Sodom and Gomorrah. Spoiler: it wasn’t. We parked (on instruction) at the college next door; it was free, but I suspect we were only allowed there as term had finished (at least for college students). It was a ridiculously hot day (August 11) and we were told there was something like 2,500 people there. While there were lots of kids, it was mainly pre-school as the term hadn’t come to an end. We arrived at 10:30. It took us less than three mins to get in and on our way. It looked (and was) clean and well maintained. We found ourselves a spot by the hedge in the park to the right (where Mexican cafe is). Yes, it got busy, but there was enough space for everyone. The pool is a little chilly when you jump in, but you get used to it very quickly. Most people were well behaved and only one or two played music (but not very loud). We’d come prepared with our own chairs, cool box and food - this was the best idea. Would we go back? Absolutely.
ZippyLondon — Google review
Hot day so inevitably rammed which means parking close by is impossible, queues to get in and queues for food/drink/ice cream are very long. Have lanes in the pool even in that situation with 5 people using them and hundreds in the open pool area squashed in. and then half the pool is roped off because it's too cloudy with sun cream to see the bottom. I would avoid on very hot days and come when it's low to mid 20s for a nicer experience
K G — Google review
Great outdoor 50m pool with loads of grass areas to relax on. Even when fully booked (2900 ticketed event 22/06/25 fully sold out) there is space to set out towels and blankets. Just don't expect to get food or drinks quickly! Best to take yr own. For an almost beachside feeling on a good sunny day you can't beat this place. Parking on site is limited though. Walk from Spectrum nearby bigger car park is "only 10mins walk" (as it says on Lido website) if you were in the Olympic walking team and have nothing to carry or kids to herd. Enjoy.
Steve D — Google review
So disappointed with my visit to Guildford lido today! What used to be a gorgeous day out with a reasonable amount of people where it was a pleasurable experience was an absolute nightmare today with the lido being completely overfilled! Far too many people were sold tickets and it has put me off ever coming back!! I’m sure I’m not alone in this. I would usually spend the day with my children but by 2pm it was like get me out of here now & we left! Even my children were happy to leave and that’s saying something.

A small theatre, about a 5 minute walk from the station. The theatre has a small bar (when I visited, they only took card payments) with a few table and chairs dotted around. The ladies' toilets were very clean (always a good sign!). The theatre had quite a few volunteers staffing the auditorium, who were very helpful and informative. The theatre itself, although small, was well laid out, and I found it comfortable. We were in the second row, so very close to the performers, as the stage is quite small. The performance was by a group called Zervas and Pepper, who were brilliant.

In Guildford, Lewis Carroll's former home overlooks a garden with a sculpture of Alice Through The Looking-Glass. The statue by Jeanne Argent was installed in 1990 and is somewhat hidden within the castle grounds. It offers a view of the castle and the house where Carroll stayed. Visitors can find it near the Castle Gardens, providing an opportunity to appreciate this striking tribute to Carroll's literary legacy.
This statue is slightly difficult to find, but Alice is worth seeing. If one is walking along the Castle Grounds, enter the gateway which leads one along a windy pathway to the bowling green. This is approximately where Alice is. She is also visible from The Guildford Castle (please see the photographs). The statue by Jeanne Argent was installed in 1990.

The youngest one was scared the first round but the staff were very patient and encouraging and then she was flying around after that. We also got to go around the two kids courses multiple times. Thank you.

Wild woods was amazing! The staff couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. The kindness and encouragement they showed to a nervous boy in our group was incredible. The course was challenging and extremely fun. We will definitely be back!

Excellent, would definitely recommend. We held a kids birthday party here and the team at Wild Woods were professional, friendly and just brilliant. The kids loved the day.

Staff were friendly and courses good fun with lots of interesting challenges. What was also a undesired challenge was booking with vouchers (you can only buy them online, not use). The phone went unanswered during the week (when they were open for the holidays) and no call back from the message left, eventually got through to someone the day before we wanted to do it.

The Mill Studio showcases small-scale work from both established and emerging artists as well as an annual exhibition.
A really well run and excellent local theatre offering a wide range of interesting and engaging plays and shows. Lovely riverside location with a cafe and indoor and outdoor seating. Have previously been to see The Mousetrap which was really good and recently went to see the live Allo Allo podcast. Very intimate set up with a fun crowd and very comfortable seating. Well stocked bars with snacks, drinks and Jude’s Ice cream and staff are very friendly and helpful. There’s a car park nearby which can get very busy on event days however the theatre is close to the town centre with plenty if public car parks and all the great restaurants in Guildford.

Lovely Country Road music evening. Very enjoyable. Pre-ordered Nachos with pulled pork. Rather disappointing portion size, needed more meat. It was rather expensive for the size of the portions. Would definitely eat before arriving at Theatre next time.

Show was excellent, the stars are not a reflection of that. What let the experience down were the refreshment prices! Over £12 for a small bag of Minstrels, a child-sized bottle of water and a 0% Peroni. The show was great value, the bar definitely wasn’t.
Woolster / — Google review
Lovely theatre, perfect size for the show we saw. Unusual to not have any parking, although there was a car park within 5 minutes, and it did get very hot in there. But I would visit again. Food on site was lovely too!

I haven't been to YA for a while and hadn't seen the renovations. Great that the men's toilets are much improved. And also that the dining area and bar/restaurant are now out of the main lounge area. However, the atmosphere/ambience of the restaurant is not very welcoming. Very stark and cold. Feels like a hospital or school cafeteria, rather than a warm, inviting space, especially on a chilly autumn evening. A good splash of warm paint (or wood panelling) would do the trick. Also, dimming the lights a bit (almost wished I had sunglasses). One plus was the music was nice and soft and not overwhelming like so many restaurants. I think that if the space was more inviting, people might just want to stick around for an after show drink and chat. The staff were great. 5 stars to them.

Great show and nice staff but silly rules. Bought a bottle of wine from the bar upstairs to be told we couldn’t take it in with us for ‘health and safety’. I asked if this was in case I threw it on stage and was told no, it’s for ‘health and safety’. The Mrs Warboys-esque character on the door clearly had no idea! No bag check on entry and had to leave our bottle open on the bar so anyone could have spiked us, clearly not that bothered about H&S!!

Saw Little Women today. Great production. Comfortable seat in row F of the stalls with a good view of the stage. Hot drink from the bar was nice though small for the price. Will visit again.

I went to Yvonne Arnaud Theatre to see the show Murder At Midnight starring Max Bowden from EastEnders and I had a wonderful time, it was an incredible experience to see Max and the rest of the cast perform live as it has always been my dream to see Max perform as I have been a fan of his for many years now so it was a special experience for me. We had front row seats which made the experience even more special too. Yvonne Arnaud is a wonderful little venue with great seating for shows and the cafe is lovely too, with delicious food and drinks and beautiful views across the river. The staff are really friendly and helpful too. Thank you Yvonne Arnaud for a wonderful show and for making my dreams come true with watching Max Bowden perform live, I send my gratitude to Max and the rest of the cast of Murder At Midnight for a fantastic show that I will remember forever!

Nestled in the heart of Guildford, Holy Trinity Church is a stunning early Georgian red-brick structure that boasts a rich history dating back to the 11th century. This architectural gem features an unsupported roof and a medieval chapel, making it a fascinating site for those who appreciate religious architecture. The church is renowned for its breathtaking stained glass windows and tranquil ambiance, providing visitors with a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Recently attended Holy Trinity for the Italia Conti Christmas Carol Service. They used the space so beautifully and the acoustics were wonderful. Churches can often be uncomfortably cold with hard pews to sit on, but this space is very comfortable.

A beautiful setting for a Christmas craft fair. The church is open most days and is a quiet space to have a quiet few moments away from the hurly burly of life. Or possibly ask, in prayer, for help and strength to cope with a problem, or simply offer thanks if things are going well. It is a beautiful space.

Worth a look! Friendly volunteers who gave me the history of the building. Some great funeral monuments and other architectural features.
Emily — Google review
The present church, completed in 1763, stands on the site of an earlier Saxon church. It was extended further in 1888 and, from 1927-61, was the pro-Cathedral of the diocese, until Guildford's cathedral on Stag Hill was consecrated in 1961. The fuller history of Holy Trinity can be found on a wall plaque at the bottom of the stairs to the entrance. It is the larger of Guildford's three parish churches, St Mary's, in Quarry Street shared the same ministry team. Holy Trinity is a fine building as befits its status as the Civic Church. It has a long musical tradition with excellent choirs and organ. The only problem for me is its location, at the top of the hill known as the High Street!

Nice place, being here for swimming competition, long course swim. Parking is free for threes hours or if you come for an event who is long then 3 hours you have to register your number plate at the reception desk. If you come for a swimming event be aware of the limited space of seats and quite difficult to move on from one side to other. Coffee shop is nice and with lots of places to seats. Nice, polite staff.

Good membership price in terms of a variety things to do - gym, pool and sauna, classes, courts. However, if you’re only going to SSP for the gym, it’s a ripoff - a lot of the equipment is out of use and it takes months for someone to come and fix it
Ivet I — Google review
I have had a very poor recent experience as a member. The class that I attend (and pay monthly membership for to be able to book onto) has been cancelled several weeks in a row (and the weeks it has not been cancelled have been in lower quality weather impacted outdoor facilities whilst the gym is refurbished). When I reasonably asked for a membership refund for the month where my class was not available once, I was told no. When asked the formal route to complain, I was referred to an almost blank page on the website with a button to the general support email address. With the member prices going up to pay for enhanced facilities next month, it felt reasonable to give money back for cancelled classes and worse facilities recently. I've started shopping for class memberships elsewhere.

!Beware of the cancellation policy! If you sign up for a month , they won’t let you go for THREE months. Also hard to find and to action cancellation, have to fill out a whole form and wait for personal reply. Weird Gym much smaller than photos would have you think. Super busy even at first light. Nice equipment, decently arranged. Didn’t have the chance to check out other facilities before wanting to cancel.

Nestled in the heart of Guildford, the Guildford Spectrum is a vibrant multi-use complex that promises fun for everyone. With an Olympic-sized ice rink and four diverse swimming pools—including a leisure pool packed with thrilling features like slides, waves, and bubble beds—there's no shortage of activities to keep you entertained. Families can enjoy tenpin bowling and squash courts as well, making it an ideal destination for a rainy day adventure in Surrey.
Possibly the best affordable themed pool in England, almost waterpark size minus the high price. The water temperature was perfectly warm, there were 2 hot tubs and plenty of rides, of which 3 were long. The decor was artistic, featuring model fishes and some rocky landscaping between things. Also there was a wave machine and enough space to swim laps in the 1.5 metres end.
Star C — Google review
Went ice-skating during the week so very quiet and lots of space to practice. Lockers take 20p pieces and staff were helpful. I think there is also a skate shop there but it didn't look open when we were there.
Tanya G — Google review
Great day out for the kids. Just off the A3, plenty of free parking, a shop in case you've forgotten some swimming gear, need £1 for the lockers, different sized changing rooms for if you're 1 person or a family, plenty of mini slides, medium slides to big slides depending on the ages of your kids, even had a slide where you take donut shaped floats down. Once everyone's worked up an appetite, there's a few eateries to choose from which is great that everything's located under 1 roof. A few minor niggles... It cost me £30 for an adult and 2 kids which is a bit on the steep side, there is no shade in the car park so be prepared to come back to a furnace on hot days, but my main gripe... The boiling hot showers, and that's by adult standards just imaging trying to wash your squirming kids in it, please turn it down! Will save on your electricity bills too so can only be a win win situation.

We visited for bowling and soft play. Bowling was okay-ish, wouldn't go again though - it's seen better days! Soft play - would not recommend to anyone. The weirdest place I've ever been where there's no area for parents to be in - near claustrophobic little cave this soft play is 😅
Kersti L — Google review
As only my second visit to Spectrum, I wanted to explore the facility a little more. We went for the leisure swim with my 5 year old and there was plenty there to keep her occupied for 90 minutes (booking slots are an hour and a half and indicated by different coloured wrist bands). There were plenty of lockers and family change units available at the time we went which was handy although at busier times I guess this could be an issue. The range of water slides and 'fun' elements was good although the waves weren't working on our visit. It was about £30 for the three of us which I thought was quite steep but can't really compare as there is nowhere else quite like this nearby to where we live. We travelled 45 minutes to get here. The centre has a gym, adult swimming pool, ice rink (we saw Guildford Flames in a training session from the observation area), a ten pin bowling alley and more. There are a number of eateries to choose from and we ventured down to the ten pin bowling for a quick lunch. Pleased with the pricing and food choices - my daughter wants to come back and try the bowling as she has never done it before. Outside, there is a huge green park nearby and I believe an outdoor splash park, ample parking and the whole place is easy to find. All in all, well worth a visit and we will come again.
Tom R — Google review
Great time out for the prices. Kids absolutely enjoyed it. Loads to do there. Swimming was fantastic, kids enjoyed the slides and the waves in the pool, plenty to do in the swimming area especially having a few slides to go on. Great for all ages. Fairly clean, no complaints. Not my first time going and I would definitely go again, worth the little extra travel.
Sherene T — Google review
Unfortunately I have to give 1* due to cleanliness of the water park. All swimming pools, slides were quite dirty. The changing rooms were absolutely filthy. It was very hard to get changed as the floor was black from dirt. Considering the amount of money the place makes, please hire some decent cleaner instead of young kids sweeping the floor with dirty brush. On the other hand, my son enjoyed the water slides and swimming.

Booking at Greyfriars Vineyard is effortless, with clear communication beforehand to ensure a smooth visit. The tour itself is highly enjoyable, thanks to the knowledgeable and professional guide James, who works alongside an equally enthusiastic assistant. Tasting the wines while exploring the vineyard adds a unique touch, and trying wine straight from the vats proves intriguing. Both still and sparkling wines are delightful, and keeping the tasting glass as a memento is a thoughtful gesture.
We visited this place today and we were impressed with the high levels of customer service and with the wines. We were able to see the vineyard and the scenery was just lovely. The place in which the wine tasting takes place is comfortable. The area in which the wine tasting takes place has a chandelier which is made out of wineglasses.

A warm sunny late May day, beautiful views over verdant green countryside, steeped in history. An entertaining and informative vineyard tour, and a taste of half a dozen excellent English wines. It is difficult to think of how it could have been better.

We were pleasantly surprised, not knowing what to expect from a 'Tour and Tasting'. Greyfriars operate a single estate business focused on their sparkling wines. We sampled four wines during a comprehensive two-hour tour that touched on history, wine making, bottling and storage, a little viticulture and background to their 'grape to glass operation. The panoramic views of the Surrey Hills from the outdoors tasting platform are spectacular, and the wines are great and diversifying into still - their Pinot Gris is almost Alsastian in style - it makes one wonder how Gewürztraminer would fare here... For £20 it represents excellent value for money. If you have Aaron conduct your tour prepare for an informative, fun and tiring time!

All tours were booked on the day, they're very popular so book well in advance. We spent the time in the tasting room speaking with the very knowledgeable "Californian Lady" behind the bar. Speaking with her was as informative as taking the tour and I also tasted most of what was on offer. I was a little disappointed as I read that Arancini, cheese and a charcuterie was available. The nice "Californian Lady" informed me that it was except it was at the bar further up the hill; this is the "tasting room". Ah well, perhaps next visit 😁

Located in the picturesque Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Albury Vineyard is a local gem that Mandira wholeheartedly supports. Whether it's an evening of Biryani and Gin with Silent Pool Distillers or Biryani and Bubbles with Albury Organic Vineyard themselves, this vineyard offers unique experiences for all tastes. Their Indian-inspired frozen desserts by Grays Gelato at Goldstone Farm are also not to be missed.
We visited the vineyard a couple of weekends ago for a wine and cheese tasting and were blown away with our incredible experience. I purchased a voucher online for my husband’s birthday which was sent to me immediately (thank you Lucy!) Once purchased, you’re given a code to use when booking your experience on their website which is very straightforward. A confirmation email is then sent to you a few days before your chosen date with useful details about your visit such as parking information so do look out for this (thank you Becky!) We were greeted by the lovely staff Alison, Tara and another young lady whose name I didn’t catch - but they were all so warm, welcoming and friendly. We arrived a little early which I’d recommend as you can have a walk around the vines, taking the self guided tour, order a drink at the bar and take in the beautiful views of the vines in the beautiful and comfortable seating area. George was our host for the wine and cheese tasting and he was absolutely brilliant! He’s so passionate and knowledgeable and talked us through the whole process of winemaking which we found utterly fascinating. We also got to learn about the history of this organic vineyard and how the family started the business which was very enjoyable. George’s friendly approach to the tasting was highly appreciated and made the whole experience very fun and interesting. I would have to say it’s suitable for both wine connoisseurs and beginner enthusiasts alike. The wine itself is sensational and the quality speaks for itself. But it’s also great to be able to support the flourishing British wine industry rather than simply buying a bottle of Champagne! We hope more local bars and restaurants will soon start offering wider selections of British wine too. We are so very lucky to have such an amazing business with an exciting future on our doorstep in Surrey, so I highly recommended you pay them a visit and support this thriving, family business. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Thank you to all of the Albury Vineyard staff for such a wonderful day (my husband was very impressed with his birthday present!) we shall be back again soon with our family and friends to taste some more of your delicious wine. Best wishes for your continued success, Clare and Geoff xx

It was a wonderful experience picking grapes at Albury Vineyard this year. The instructions for pickers were clear and well-organised, and the team was very responsive to any enquiries. I really enjoyed harvesting alongside the other volunteers and the vineyard team. We were treated to delicious homemade mushroom soup, sausage rolls, and cakes — everything was so tasty that I had to try them all! After lunch, we finished the harvest and celebrated with a refreshing glass of rosé sparkling wine, bursting with strawberry and raspberry flavours. What a great treat and a memorable day!

I can’t even begin to explain how amazing Albury Vineyard is. I held my work summer party here for 32 guests and it was so magical. It was a beautiful day which started off with a welcome glass of sparkling wine and stone baked pizza. Following this we had a perfect tour of the vineyard which was both interesting and beautiful. Who doesn’t want to drink wine whilst walking around the most stunning fields? This was then followed by wine tasting in a tent in the fields. The lady who did our tour (I apologise as I cannot remember your name) was just incredible. She was so kind and funny and knew exactly how to run a work event. She even sliced the top of the bottle off with a knife!! I have to give special thanks to Becky who was the true driving force of this whole event. She was there answering my non stop questions as trying to plan a work event can be a logistical nightmare at times. She was kind, thoughtful and patient with me whilst I planned the day. She was great when the day was in full swing. Regularly checking that everything was as perfect as we wanted it and was very accommodating when things needed to be changed. The day was perfect and it left everyone smiling. Without a doubt the best party we have ever had. Thank you Albury Vineyard I’m sure we will be back again! Sascha

I have originally booked a tour last year, but due to personal circumstances, I had to postpone. The Albury team was really helpful and prompt to accomodate my needs and I received a voucher to use within the year. We went this July for a Vineyard Tour & Tasting and it was a great experience! The weather was on our side and the vineyard shined with beauty in every corner. The lady who accompanied us (I believe her name is Sarah) was very knowledgeable and full of interesting facts that stuck with me. We walked for a little bit, with stops here and there, tasted grapes and some wine and, towards the end, we sat at the table and tasted 3 different wines and talked about their history. The lady also showed us how to open a bottle using a saber! We were then welcome to stay after the tour and have a meal. Extra bonus was that pets are welcome and the shop on the site has a dog menu too. Overall, a really positive experience! I will definitely take my friends (and dog) for some cheese and charcuterie boards next time.

Quick visit today. Had to squeeze it in on this trip once I heard it was moving to Wales soon. Small museum but tracks the history of the army and medicine through time. Some nice dioramas etc. Well worth a couple of hours of your time. And it's FREE 👍
William W — Google review
First time visiting as we had a day off work and it's not open at the weekend. It was really interesting and well laid out. Plenty to see and a real education. It's actually on the army base so you need to sign in and wear a pass and you're escorted to and from the museum.
Jon — Google review
An interesting, informative exhibition that gives a detailed history of medical & dental practices in the British Armed Forces during conflict over the centuries. Lot's of well preserved artifacts - from the quirky to the macabre! If you like to read up on everything the museum provides, allow a couple of hours for this at least. There's also a shop selling souvenirs & postcards on the premises.

A well maintained museum with lots of information. It has a surprisingly large collection of memorabilia / artefacts. Kids were entertained for an hour. Definitely worth booking a visit.
Cindy S — Google review
Wonderful little museum and well worth a visit. All staff were welcoming and lovely (including the military staff on the gate). Took 3 x kids and the museum was geared up for them - with activity sheets to keep them engaged. Lots of information and appealing visual aids for younger visitors. Don’t forget to take photo ID to gain access (this is based on a military site), and some cash to donate at the end (the museum is free but relies on donations - which is well deserved!

Well worth a visit to understand the Military role in Medicine and the affects military conflicts have had on medical advances

Super museum, slightly off the beaten track. Packed full of military history from way way back to present-day. Everything well-labelled and informative, with a clear timeline. Photos, uniforms, medals, equipment - the lot, including some unique items lent by prestigious museums. I wasn’t expecting to stay long, but I did. Take photo ID (it’s on a military base). Highly recommended.

Riverside Park Nature Reserve is a delightful escape for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike. With its picturesque walking paths along the canal, it offers an ideal setting for leisurely strolls or energetic runs, especially on sunny days. The park features a charming lake that adds to its serene ambiance, making it perfect for unwinding with family or enjoying some solo time in nature. While the gravel car park can be slightly uneven and has limited facilities nearby, it's still a convenient spot to start your adventure.

Open ground with slightly uneven gravel car park. A small group of us parked here to paddleboard the canal. A 'local' turned up telling us the car park was for 'local' people and proceeded to park across two car widths. Otherwise a good car park, no facilities in the area and 1.9m height barrier, campervan just scraped in! Good area for a walk along the canal though.

Nestled in the serene woodlands of Chilworth, the Gunpowder Mills offer a captivating journey into history. Once a bustling hub for producing ammunition and gunpowder, this now-abandoned site boasts over 100 buildings to explore amidst picturesque surroundings. Visitors can embark on guided trails or pick up informative leaflets to delve into the mills' rich heritage.
A very nice place for hiking and spending time with your friends or family as well. We brought our cat to come with us and she seems very excited and enjoying the trip. We had a very relaxing walk through the gunpowder forest and the view was amazing and spectacular! It is very beautiful and recommended to bring some food and drink with you.

Parking for 3 cars on blacksmith lane, free for 2 hours. Easy, short walk. Interesting points accompanied by qr codes to give historical background of the area. Dog loved the water.
Mark P — Google review
Really unassuming little find! Such rich history without much advertisment. Was a lovely stroll past the remnants of the mine. The only trouble is finding a suitable place to park. Its amongst lots of private land but good access from the roads through chilworth following the footpath signs
L B — Google review
Worth a visit, some parts of the historical mill are still standing. Great for dog walking although prepare to get muddy during the wet months!!! Nice little stream for kids to paddle in with wellies. There's a few picnic tables too.
Chlo D — Google review
Impressive ruins of a gunpowder mill set within peaceful woodland. Following the waterway you'll pass the remains of the boiler house and Victorian steam mills, expense magazine, wharf and a row of millstones. There are information boards all along the trail, and free leaflets with a map of the walk. Following the whole route takes a couple of hours with lots to see on the way. There's only space for a couple of cars at the start of the trail by Lockner Farm Lane, but it's not too long a walk from the village. After rain the paths can be very muddy so bring robust footwear.
Andrew T — Google review
Ruined gunpowder mill that has been reclaimed by nature, nice walk through the old site, some of the old concrete structures remain along with various other bits and pieces scattered round the site, there are information boards here and there to explain what the mill used to be like, parking very limited so you may have to park on the surrounding roads and walk down. Wear proper footwear as the ground can be muddy and uneven in places. Overall a good couple of hours to be had or just a nice place for a sit down and picnic if the weather is good

St Catherine's Hill and Chapel is a charming historical site located on a manageable hill just off the Godalming to Guildford road. The medieval chapel, established in the early 14th century, was intended to provide a convenient place of worship for those living at a distance from the main church. While the view from the top of the hill is now somewhat obstructed by fencing, visitors can still access and explore the ruins of the chapel.
Ruined chapel dating back to the 14th century, built as a chapel of ease to the church of St Nicholas, Guildford. The hilltop location has good views over Guildford, including the castle. An annual 5 day fair was hosted here in the 14th century. Now the chapel makes an interesting diversion while walking the waterside path from Guildford to Shalford. The chapel itself is surrounded by railings, with an information board provided outlining its history.
Andrew T — Google review
Visited April 11, 2019: Not much to be seen except for the ruins of the chapel itself, though it's quite a found gem if you find yourself alone visiting (which it was in my case). A hilltop view is always nice, and the whole area is fascinating from a historical perspective.

Tranquil ruin of old chapel atop a hill. Great area for an easy hike or run especially during sunset. Has a pub nearby for convenient rest stop. Was nice to take a visit.

Ruined mediæval chapel on a hill top a short walk south of Guildford. I had heard that a new fence had been erected which spoils the view which is somewhat true but I was pleased to find out that you can still access the chapel by climbing up the sandy hillside from the river below. Nice place to go when around Guildford or walking along the river.

Beautiful not very big ruins, free to visit and located just off the road and manageable hill up. Great views from the top, although fenced up. Information boards available. Richard Wincey established St Catherine a chapel of ease us at Parish Church of St Nicholas, Guilford in the parly 14th century. Its main purpose was to provide amos convenient place of worship for those who lived at some distance away from the main church. We have parked just at the bottom of the hill. (Mon-Sat 8:30 am - 6:00 pm. 2 hours No return within 1 hour or permit holders parking spot). There is lovely walk along the river Way near by too. If you like ruins and history, it will be perfect place to visit.

Nice playground for kids really young and older. Two parts separated with small fence. In one swings, spinner and smaller slide. Second part with bigger installations. As I remember, there is a four benches to sit down. Next to this place, a lot of greens, where kids play football, cricket, basically having fun. Shadow in hot summer day, You can catch under trees around. Clean, with safty gate. Really nice place
Piotr C — Google review
Pleasant park. Small children's playground as part of it but also has a football pitch which the council allow use of. Lots of people walk their dogs there and there's a bin in each corner. Only downside is always loads of rubbish. People sit on the benches to smoke and eat takeaways and leave litter behind even though the bin is a few meters away.
Emily R — Google review
Lovely open space to exercise. Sadly the pavilion is in need of some maintenance. The grass looks in need of mowing. The children's play area is a fenced area, so safer for children. A lovely facility in the town centre.
Pauline M — Google review
Good playground alternative to the big Stoke park one up the road if it is busy. The slide has recently been taken away. The field itself has a decent size cricket pitch and in winter two football pitches.
S C — Google review
It's a park which has had trouble with Anti social behaviour in the past but the work from the council has made it much better than it used to be. In summer it is a perfect oasis amongst the residential area to just chill out and worship the sun.

Pleasant open space by the river Wey, not far from the centre of Guildford. Great for dog walks, as the trees on the riverside path offer plenty of shade in the summer months. The landscape is mostly flat wetland ground, with a striking contrast provided by the sandy riverbank. The ruins of St Catherine's Chapel up the steep hill on the west side of the river make an interesting diversion from the waterside path.
