One of the nicest dinners that I had recently. Really enjoyed the starter and main course. Though, I would give only a 4 stars for the apple crumble dessert. Maybe because I can make a better crumble than the one they served.. lol

We stopped here on our last night in Ireland after a week of exploring the country. I’d honestly say, this is the best service we have received out of any restaurant we visited and the food was top notch. Great vibe inside and plenty of drinks and beers to choose from. Highly recommend!

Had a delicious lunch with my sister and daughter. Relaxed atmosphere, we could have stayed there all day. I would definitely eat there again and would highly recommend.

We arrived with high hopes and empty stomachs — we had been dreaming of the chicken supreme all day like it was a Michelin-starred prophecy. Spoiler: they didn’t have it. The manager waited until I was literally about to order to break the news, like the culinary version of a jump scare. Still, we carried on. Our waiter was a lovely young man, and the food was nice. The bill came to €80 for the two of us, which felt a bit much but fine. Then the manager swooped in and asked us to settle up which we were fine with but took it as a gentle hint to hurry up and leave. He then took the bill (the paper, not the cost — tragically). Less than five minutes later, while I was finishing my cup of tea like a Victorian ghost, he came back and told us he needed the table. No warning when we arrived, no time limit mentioned, and crucially, no shortage of empty tables around us. And so I left my half drank cup of tea. We were the only ones asked to leave — despite having just paid a sizeable bill and being nothing but polite. We were the only ones asked to leave. Maybe we looked too under-30 to be trusted with tea and conversation? We’re two polite women who just wanted a nice meal — not to be politely booted. Lovely staff, nice food, but a manager with a stopwatch and a low tolerance for tea-drinkers under 30. In summary: No chicken supreme (emotional damage) €80 spent to feel like a temporary inconvenience Tea interrupted mid-sip A lovely waiter doing the Lord's work (Amen 🙏) A manager timing us like it was a speed-dating event (maybe he can host First Dates Mayo?) We won’t be rushing back — mostly because they rushed only us out first!

We made a last decision to call in here for food on a Saturday evening. As we walked in it was obvious the pub was very busy, but the manager found us a table that was free until its next booking at 8pm. Over the next hour we enjoyed some of the best Guinness of our 3 week trip along with great food and excellent service. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely meal here with some of the most delicious fish we enjoyed in Ireland! The service was amazing- our waitperson had an amazing sense of humor and helped us enjoy ourselves!

The best meal out in many years... We both started with the leak and potato soup, I followed with the sage and parsnip roulade, my partner had the braised featherblade of beef, for dessert I had the fig and date pudding, and my partner had the creme brulee. I also had the non alcoholic raspberry sorbet cocktail (beautiful!). We were basically left speechless. Every flavour was so well thought out, so vibrant. Every single part of the meal was excellent, such a high standard. The quality of every ingredient was obvious, such wholesome, satisfying food. Veggie options are often underwhelming, and poorly thought out - certainly not the case here. The service was faultless, attentive, friendly and quick, despite the restaurant being busy. This was our first visit, certainly won't be our last. It is at the higher end in regard to pricing, but for a sit down meal in a Chinese there isn't much in the difference in price - but a huge difference in quality. Overall just fantastic. Thank you!

An amazing meal - worth visiting Castlebar just to have dinner here. Pretty much stumbled across this place when we decided on the town to overnight at. The passion for the food is evident and the quality is superb. I would rate it one of the best meals I’ve had anywhere 👍👍👍

We were returning from our two-day road trip in Mayo, and the kids were hungry. I've found this place on Google Maps and decided to try it. We didn't have a reservation but were squeezed in. In the picture, the place looked dark, but it was pretty light in there. The decor is trendy, with the custom wall/mural dedicated to Castlebar (fantastic work to the creator). The menu is original, and there is a food for every taste. Really appreciate that the kids menu had a twist to the usual "kids menu". Aubergine dish was a hit with me and my husband. It's the best vegetarian dish I have tried in a while. It was a masterpiece, and every ingredient was there for a reason. Compliments to the chef! I am so glad we stopped at your place. Other dishes were yummy, too. The staff was genuine and accommodating. Hopefully, we will visit your place again:)

Outstanding restaurant with a fabulous interesting menu including a vegetarian menu. A real treat for the senses. Best restaurant in Connacht in our opinion.

Food was amazing. We had the pork and everything had so much flavour and had so many different tastes to each variant of the pork. The baked Alaska was very good and ice cream was amazing in the centre, the raspberry chocolate cake was full of flavour and ice cream complimented it so well.

I had a very lovely tea and coffee experience here, stopping in from a day of shopping. This was a great place to visit.

Very disappointing. The meat was dry and, for an oriental-style restaurant, the food was extremely bland. Sauces had almost no flavour. And it’s very, very expensive for what you get - definitely not worth the price. Wouldn’t recommend if you’re looking for something rich and aromatic.

Amazing food and lovely staff. I ordered from the vegan menu: bread with hummus, no meat kebab with spicy chips and a salad, vegan carrot cake and fresh mint tea. With 30 euros you can have one starter, one main course, one dessert and one tea. Definitely my favorite restaurant in Castlebar

This place is always so fabulous. Myself and my partner ate here on the weekend and it was just fab. The staff are lovely the food is great I can never ever fault it. Absolutely brilliant. Easily 10/10 experience.

The samosas and Palestinian kebab were amazing, there vegetables must be locally sourced too because I normally hate peas but the ones in the samosas were so firm and lovely. Will definitely be coming back. Ps sorry for the bad photo, you'll just have to take my word that the plating was excellent I couldn't wait to dig in

Al Muretto is a strange name, Google translating as "At the Wall"? I am sure there is a story there. But this place certainly doesn't hit the wall. This place is very good, serving some good Italian comfort food. Another strange thing was the opening times, 4-10 all week, except on Sunday, where it's all day. We visited on Sunday and really enjoyed ourselves. But we were disappointed to visit a few days later, for seconds, and find it closed. It's hard running a restaurant in Ireland, so I understand, just sad there is no lunchtime opening during the week. I would go right now if I could. One of the best ways to judge an Italian restaurant is the spaghetti Bolognese, a simple dish but very hard to make well. I think they do an assassin spaghetti type Bolognese. Hubby ordered the Spaghetti Bolognese and really enjoyed it. The only criticism I have is that the Bolognese is offered with Penne or Spaghetti. Personally I am not into either, I love the soft texture of tagliatelle and would have preferred that option. Also the sauce was mixed with Parmesan, which was nice, but perhaps too much as it was too cheesy. Wifey tried something more exotic. Wifey tried the Risotto Allo Scoglio, a seafood risotto. Wifey loved this, and still raves about it. I too liked it, but seafood is not my go-to. But Hubby was impressed as it all cooked to perfection, some of the softest calamari I have ever eaten. Honestly there were so many other dishes we would go back for. Things I would love to try, the calzone, chicken and mushroom penne and risottos, the lasagna, the Veal scallops... Every time I look at the menu there is more I want. And the desserts are great too. Wifey went with an orange cheesecake, and while she enjoyed it. It wasn't for hubby, I didn't think it worked at all. Cheesecake should only be lemon... Maybe rum and raisin only. But Hubby had the tiramisu and it was divine, the mascarpone was so moreish. The only down side was I almost choked on the cocoa dust, you have been warned. Hubby and Wifey would recommend, and would go again and again. What makes this place really good for Families is the range of adult and children's dishes. On the table next to us was a family of three, the young boy ordered a pizza, and by God it was bigger than his head. He only finished half, I hope he had it the next morning for breakfast champions, before school. On a separate visit. I had the Calzone, often described as a Pizza in a Cornish pasty. Sadly this was not good. The main flaw with this is that they used the shredded pack pasta, which doesn't melt. So when it was served to me all the mozzarella was still cool, and the Calzone was not really hot to begin with. A disappointing dish and I would not recommend it.... However I must say this is a once off and would highly recommend every other dish here.

I loved this place, the food and the staff! I confess I didn't have high expectations for the calzone because it had mushrooms, but it really surprised me. It was delicious and very filling. I can't wait to eat at this incredible place again!

Highly recommend to check out this restaurant Loved the seafood risotto. A bit spicy tho. We tried the beef ravioli, was delicious but since there was bacon, it was a bit salty

Great restaurant, service & food 👌🏻 We had one night in Castlebar and were so glad we chose this spot. Great service from really friendly staff. We all loved our pasta dishes and lovely wine selection. We shared some ice cream to finish our meal and it was delicious!!! Gelato made in house - GORGEOUS! I had the absolute pleasure of dining at this fantastic restaurant on Saturday night. From the moment we walked in, the place had such a great buzz and atmosphere. The service was outstanding – a special shoutout to Olga, who was just brilliant. The food was top-notch. I started with fresh mussels in garlic, which were amazing, and followed that with chicken that was absolutely divine. My friends went for calamari, veal, and linguine, and they were equally impressed with their dishes. Dining here was hands down the highlight of the night. I’m already looking forward to my next visit to Castlebar, and this spot will definitely be on my list again. A solid 10 out of 10!

Visited today, and had to give them the review they deserve. The best Penne Pollo E Broccoli and garlic bread we ever had till now! Simple elegant and each bite had perfect creamy flavour.

Worst Expierence. Reserved table for Father's day and food was delicious but there is but First is we arrived with family then took seats and waited, NO waiter came but they seen us when we took seats then other family came and they got served first they took their order and then even got served, then next I had to go in my self since noone came to take our orders and had to ask could I get order please and then had to wait outside at the reserved table. Then the waiter only came and took down out orders. The food was good but they served us all the food at the same time outside and it was windy and not even sunny the food got cold by the time I eat my first meal. The second problem is they reserved for family members a small table and there were 2 women's half drunk drinking wine and laughing their heads off like one of them was not gonna even say but they were sitting at large table 2 people that table should be reserved for family not 2 people. Third they should have put some numbers on the tables if the new staff waiters don't know what table to serve I can understand but from this all I wasn't happy with that all combined.

Great pizzas and great service also. We sat at the outside tables with our dog. It was raining lightly but the awning was out and we were perfectly sheltered. Staff were lovely and friendly and very helpful and the pizzas were really excellent. The place had a steady stream of customers and it's no surprise that it's so well regarded. We'll be back for sure next time we're in town.

I was there with my family, the pizza was very dry, it had no flavor, the pizza dough was like it was from Aldi. Very unpretentious place, the staff is very rude, bad mannered. My little son was already crying, so we left quickly. An outdoor oven would not be appropriate indoors. I do not recommend it to anyone.

This one star is for the delivery service. The pizza arrived an hour and a half later and was already cold. This is because the delivery person went to the wrong address than the one specified in the order. The manager didn't even try to resolve the issue. Unprofessional, a huge minus.

A must stop if in Mayo. Stopped here yesterday after our trip up from Kilkenny. One of the best pizza's I've ever had .

Definitely the best fish in town! My family and I each ordered the fish and chips meal and to say we were amazed would be an understatement! The fish was so fresh it literally melted in your mouth, the batter was perfect too , not too thin , not too thick just right and not oily at all! Even the size of the fish was fantastic! I’d definitely recommend Danolla’s to anyone looking for the best fish in town! (We actually came all the way from Foxford to get their fish!) Staff were an absolute pleasure too! We will definitely be coming back !

The chips are top quality. Would higly recommend the chicken burger and the fish.

We initially came in for the Gluten free Specials on a Thursday. Now Danollas has become one of our very regular places to eat. The food is always fantastic the staff are very switched on when it comes to allergies. The burgers, Kebabs, fish and chicken dishes would rival anywhere around. You will not be disappointed.

Best fresh cod and chips and coleslaw I've had in years. It's to die for. The batter so light, slice of lemon on the side and tartar sauce. Homemade chips, not greasy, fab. No hotel could top this👌

This isnt your normal pre-made, fired into the freezer to be heated in a microwave gods only knows when usual takeaway. This is the "we care about our food and appreciate your business by giving you value and quality for your money. Freshly made food the way it should be with beyond generous portions mixed with REAL homemade taste for alot less than you will pay in your branded takeaways and be hungry an hour later. Real food, real portions and quality. Their chicken Goujon box is next level

Was really disappointed with the service in danollas, as a returning customer and not having any problems before this 3 of us went in and ordered food, 2 of us were served, 1 meal correct and 1 meal missing chips, third meal did not arrive to table at all, we had to go to counter and ask where it was a half an hour after ordering, the staff were quite rude and eventually got the 3rd meal when everyone was finished. Disappointed is an under statement as this is the first review I have ever left 😣

Danolla’s in Castlebar is absolutely fantastic! The portion sizes are generous, the quality of the food is always amazing, and it’s excellent value for money. You can tell it’s a very well-run establishment — everything from the service to the atmosphere is top-notch. Highly recommend!

Quiet afternoon popped in for a quick bite to eat for lunch. Bar lady was so nice and welcoming. We will defo be back. 100% home cooked food. Simple menu but just what we wanted. Homemade veg soup and brown bread… so fresh Chicken goujons wrap with sweet chilli. Amazing value and literally 10 mins waiting.

We stopped into Tolsters for lunch a few days back having read some great reviews. Turns out the reviews were very accurate... We were greeted by a friendly chatty gentleman (barman).. Our waitress was an absolutely lovely and very helpful blonde lady... She could not do enough for us. Sorted out some picky kids and served us up gorgeous food at a great price... If we weren't a four hour drive away we would definitely be back...

Went here last month for food. What a welcome we got , from the barman to the lady who gave us food. We had some craic, laughs and food was devine. Definitely come back again from the cork gang that was staying out the road in breaffy

Good wee pub. Owner/manager on duty very friendly and helpful. Gave out tourist maps of area and advise on attractions to visit. Recommend for the pints. Visit on a Monday night.

i've had this place on sight since time ago but never decided to enter, today we decided to go and get some breakfast and all i have to say is that i regret not entering sooner. the service was wonderful and the food was delicious, really big portions and super tasty, loved the tea a lot. i definitely recommend stopping here for some food or drinks. this now will be one of my favourite places, coming back for sure!

What a delightful cafe - lives up to the recommendations. Started with a hearty boxty breakfast with a wonderful cake to go - apple sponge. Great atmosphere and what a menu choice - something for everyone. One of our party was gluten intolerant - she certainly didn't miss out on choices. Looking forward to the next visit.

Carlsberg don't make Delicatessens but if they did..........

Had a lovely sit-in lunch upstairs with friends on the first day. The staff were very accommodating to dietary requirements, with only a small push-back joke, that may have been a little unnecessary, but the food was very tasty. I went back the next day, but got takeaway in the deli on the groundfloor to sit in the sun and avoid commentery. The staff downstairs were really lovely. The choice was amazing and I'd realy recomend the tub of pickled cucumber. Yum! It's more expensive than a regular cafe but the vibe is artisan and a lot of the products live up to that. Plant of gluten free products and they make a mean soy latte.

The café has great coffee, lovely food, and really friendly service. Love the style of the place with the café in a mezzanine above the deli. Really cosy and unpretentious. The deli has a brilliant range of some of the best of local and Irish produce, as well as selected quality imports.

some sandwiches like then foccacia are super expensive. but the most amazing deli and service besides.

We shared a vegetable soup (it's becoming a tradition of ours during this adventure) and I had the cheeseburger and my wife had the ribs. All dishes were well prepared, well seasoned, and served with a bucket of chips that were perfectly crisp. The prices were reasonable and the portions were generous.

Popped into Cox's Restaurant and bar for something to eat and got Roast of the day chicken mash potato with vegetables and gravy. Also a nice cold beer. Service was very good and pleasant. Food was plentiful and delicious filled the spot of my ravious appetite. The nice cold beer was like honey to a bear refreshing and tantalising. Definitely would recommend this place to locals and visitors as my friend and I would be visitors. Compliments to the chef and the staff who served us. Thanks for a wonderful meal and refreshing beer.

Classic Irish pub, the roast chicken plate was absolutely delicious and their French fries are the best I’ve had in Ireland. Friendly service and they were very welcoming to our kids. Don’t be thrown off by the outside looking a bit humble - the inside is beautiful.

Had dinner here the wknd. My husband had steak, I had pasta! Both were excellent! Food is always very good here! But be prepared to wait, which we don't mind as food is always good! One small thing is, I find it's usually a bit cold! So wear something warm even in the summer time!

Give 4 pieces of garlic bread! I know this is such a small thing, but why do restaurants only give three pieces of garlic bread?? The majority of diners come in groups of 2 or 4, so it should be standard to give four pieces. Anyways, rant over. The restaurant / bar is obviously in a beautiful setting, it has a great vibe and very attentive staff, some would say too attentive. Multiple times, as my wife and I were mid chicken wing licking, we were asked by a waiter “everything okay?”, however we just laughed it off. The food was good, a bit overpriced, but you understand why when you look at the venue and the service. I would recommend the hot sauce wings and the Per-Peri Chicken Burger.

The musicians on 19-20 July 2025 were superb. Very enjoyable music and singing. Would be back if it's just to hear them. I had the fish and chips and swapped chips for onion rings which took a star off. Fish was fresh and batter crispy.

Our dining experience tonight at Blue Seranade was the best during our three weeks of traveling around Ireland! The food was amazing and the service was unmatched by far. We had the opportunity to speak with the owner who was charming and takes great pride in the quality of food and service. We are staying in Westport and it was worth the short drive for this incredible meal.

After this wonderful place was recommended by several locals we decided to try it at last. Blue Serenade did not disappoint. The food was exceptional lovely flavours fresh and wholesome. Wonderful presentation. Great value for money. Easy parking. Peter who looked after us was so chatty helpful attentive as provided exceptional service. This place has exceptional reviews has a great reputation in the town for its service great food and ambience. Peter the owner treats everyone who comes through the door in a lovely courteous genuine and professional manner. A wonderful hidden gem in Castlebar.

Last minute decision to go out for dinner due to rain at the camp site. They booked us in and accommodated 8 of us for dinner. Staff was very friendly and service was good. We liked our food and desert. It was a bit difficult to find parking, but we drove around the corner and paid 2 euros for 2 hours.

What a gem of a restaurant! We had a warm welcome from the kind, warm and very entertaining Peter, and his team. The food was fantastic. Down to earth, unpretentious, good value, but high quality and delicious - exactly what we were looking for after a long drive from Dublin. We enjoyed hake, salmon and sea bass with a delicious lemon sauce, mash and vegetables. There's a lovely atmosphere and homely feel to the restaurant, with so much attention to detail and attentive service. Highly recommended.

We had dinner here and spent about €50. The food was good, but the service was very disappointing. The waiter was rude and unfriendly, and we felt he was prejudiced against Muslims. This made us very uncomfortable, so we left even though the food was nice. It’s sad that such good food is spoiled by such poor service.

Love coming here, especially with the family. Shirley and the gang provide top-notch hospitality with a warm and welcoming touch. This restaurant caters excellently for kids, with the choice and quality of the kids menu as good as the main one! Great restaurant to visit also with colleagues and friends - all guests and occasions are catered for with equal dedication and excellence.

I had a fantastic dining experience at the Dining Room in Castlebar. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting. I ordered the chicken supreme and the fillet of Hereford beef, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The flavours were perfectly balanced, and the quality of the ingredients was exceptional. Such a friendly service in such a small tucked away place. Though it sit on the main street, blink and you would past it. The restaurant has only two set menus. A smaller 39 euro course and larger 59 course. Which seems strange and yet makes perfect sense at the same time. On the one hand if you ask nicely to can pick and choose from the smaller set and larger set menu. Leaving the question why have two in the first place. But on there other hand the chef's have honed their dishes so they can replicate the dishes quickly and consistently. However after eating here twice you most like tried everything you want on the menu. Both sets are good and some choice in the menu. I was disappointed with my starter, partly because it was cold. This was just my tastes, as the dish itself was fantastic just not something I would order again. Next time I am going for the scallops. My wife tried the pate, but again not for me. Our main course was the winner. Both mine, the Venison and the Wifey, the Hake. Were cooked to perfection which we enjoyed very much. So satisfied with everything and would go again.

Lovely food and really well prepared and presented. Only gripe - two types of potatoes and texture much the same. Should add chips or roast or cubed to provide texture.

9ne of the beat meals I've had. Let's not forget the sorbet, it was great to have 9ne so smooth and creamy. Highly recommend Venison.

We've been a patrons for many years now but the night we ate was by far the best meal we've experienced. Always advisable to book ahead as it's super popular, last minute we asked to be on the cancellations list and were contacted early in the day to be abke to commit to it. The prmisis is always immaculate, homely and the staff are welcoming and friendly with top quality service each and every time. We ate from the set menu and were blown away with the quality and presentation. Each mouthful delivering flavour and succulence. I have a dietary restriction on vit k and each dish was clearly explained and it's ingredients listed out when asked. I have never not known what I've eaten there. The fillet steak was of the best quality I've had in a long time, the meat itself delivering the taste, I prefer my steak blu and it arrived as requested. While accepting the booking I made a passing comment of our wedding anniversary and were delighted with the little happy anniversary detail on our desert. Lana in Castlebar offers a delightful dining experience with its mix of Asian-inspired dishes at a price point that won’t break the bank. The portions are generous, making it great value for money, and the flavors are well-balanced and satisfying across most of the menu. One standout dish, the Nasi Goreng, was enjoyable but could benefit from a bit more spice to bring the authentic heat of the dish to life. Adding a fried egg on top would also elevate it to the next level. Overall, Lana is an excellent choice for a casual meal, offering good flavors, large portions, and reasonable prices.

We we greeted nicely as we walked into the door. The server was very kind. The food was brought out quickly after ordering. The food was delicious and we loved it. We will be back.

Atmosphere is fantastic. Also servers are nice and kind. Food was good, but it was missing stronger taste. I was in need to use soya sauce. In the end of the eating, we get free ice cream. It was very nice gesture :-)

Delivery - this was the last time. The smell from the food was disgusting. The prawns were not clean and had waste in their tract. The chicken was re-heated surely because it smelled so badly and the entire texture was mush. We had ordered a few weeks ago and the food was stale, reheated and bland. Lana used to be good quality food.

Such a great find while passing on towards Tobbercurry. Unlike many other places in Castlebar with high prices and low quality food, this place is truly at the top. Delicious food with such a huge variety of dishes. Service is fast and done with care and attention. The interior is really modern and they keep the bathrooms and dining rooms incredibly clean. There seems to be great communication between the staff. I was really impressed with the portion sizes and the quality of the food served. I recommend this place 100x over for those eating in castlebar alone, with family, or with friends as their menu has something for everyone.

Lana is Asian inspired fast food, and not to sound mean, but authentic is questionable choice of words I wouldn't use. Perhaps not the healthiest... But it tastes good. That being said hubby was disappointed with the thin egg noodles. There was a bit of a taste on them. We just arrived at opening so the noodles were just out. Shame they used to have the medium fried egg noodles... Those where to die for. A sad omission from the menu. The standard dishes are good. And if you like them you'll love them. Hubby liked his teriyaki Chicken. But if he went back he wouldn't have ordered it again. The pieces were too thin and shallowed fried just a touch too long. It was too sweet, and not salty or tangy enough. Wifey's duck, well she liked it. But Hubby felt it was over-fried. The thinner end pieces came out very chewy. And of course it's duck dish so there aren't many pieces to begin with. Of the menu there are very few things that would tempt me to pick. My personal choice, so if you like the plates you'll love the food. Perhaps I am being harsh. Having visited and eaten in Bangkok, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan it's hard to give a fair review and harder to compare. What I will say, from previous visits, the best thing on the menu has now gone. Has hubby mentioned his love for medium egg fried noodles. Wok fried onions and broccoli would be perfect. Such a Shame. But to be fair maybe I have to try more dishes. The place is well lit and beautifully decorated. The toilets are clean. The other disappointing thing is the lack of desserts. Understandable as true Asian desserts are few and far, plus the ingredients are impossible to find for them. You can avail of the free whippy ice cream which is nice. But honestly not my thing either. I think a mango sorbet would be far more suitable dessert for a place like this.

Didn't stay there, just walked in for dinner with my family today, since nearby restaurants were full. The caesar salad small plate was very small even with extra paid additions. The whole red Thai chicken curry didn't look or taste fresh. Kid's meals were good eventhough the portions were small. The service wasn't great either, considering the place wasn't too busy. The location is very handy for holiday makers, out of the busiest routes.

Stayed at the connaught for 5 days last week.The rooms could have done with some T.L.C but on the whole they were clean, the food was excellent and the lady who served us in the morning called Fiona was fabulous she could not do enough for us she was very friendly and had a great sense of humour.The inn was situated very conveniently to every thing we wanted. So we enjoyed our stay.

Room basic but clean, very good bar food and breakfast good but comes out on piping hot plates which is good for adults but my 2 children kept burning themselves. Room we had was right next to smoking area and with the bar being very busy one of the 2 nights we stayed it probably would have been better to have our room further away. The owners and staff were friendly.

Okay. I booked an apartment here (No.1) and when I arrived the lady at the bar showed me the apartment. Overall, the kitchen & areas are in a pretty decent condition. Upstairs, the master bedroom was in a very good state. Although, when I took a look at the bathroom. There was BLACK MOLD growing on the ceiling above the shower. I was disappointed with that. To add insult to injury, when I had a look at the guest bedrooms, I had difficulty getting to the window as one of the beds was in the way. So what I done was I rearranged the furniture to make the room more accessable. Even worse, I found dust balls EVERYWHERE and I even found an old balled up pair of TIGHTS covered in hair amongst the dust. Personally I think this is a disgrace. (As all the rooms except the guest bedroom and the bathroom were well maintained). Everything else was fine. <br><br><br> <br><br><br>Overall I Would not stay there again unless cleanliness standards improve.

The staff were polite the food was good ,But the rooms were terrible ,dirty radiators. Lamp shades all broken ,shower plughole dirty beyond belief ,duvets in flitters in the covers ,Toothpaste on the towel holders and back of the sink . They really need to get there housekeeping up to standard ,for the prices they are charging its not acceptable.

When we arrived there was no one there to check us in , the chef called someone to come down and it took about ten minutes before anyone dealt with us. Rooms were clean but absolutely freezing. Also we were late checking out because no one told us what time we needed to be out at and one member of staff (a female with a high pitched English accent) got quite narky I understand we were late but she could have been polite about it and was extremely rude .

The room was small and cramped , floor was incredibly dirty, it didn't look like it had be cleaned from the last people where there. Our shower was clogged up and flooded if you tried to take a shower longer then 5 minutes. The breakfast tasted ok but there service was awful, leaving our food down without any cutlery, and having to repeatedly ask for things because they did not do it in the first place. I will not be going back.

Very much a no frills kind of place. They were accommodating of our dog inside, which I really appreciate. We had a full Irish which was acceptable - coffee was about the same, decently priced and the staff were polite!

Always lives up to expectations for a great value. The staff and Joe himself are always great staff, welcoming, accommadating any needs, and then the food and drink here are better than anywhere else. Would always recommend to all.

I had a wonderful experience ordering from Domino’s Castlebar. The staff were very friendly and helpful, which made the whole process even better. My order was prepared quickly and delivered earlier than expected. The pizza arrived hot, fresh, and delicious, with a crust that was soft on the inside and perfectly crispy on the outside. Even the sides, especially the garlic bread, were equally tasty. I highly recommend Domino’s Castlebar!

This place used to be good but the quality of food has sadly gone downhill, the chicken burger was one of the worst things I've had in recent time, I don't know what torture that chicken went through in its previous life but damn, rubbery, no taste of note, sadly its not the only time. A one off I ignore, but the last few times it's been like this, chips not even what they used to be, not sure where the burger awards came from. Really hope it improves and if it does I'll happily change my review as it really used to be a great spot

It is the third time that I got the delivery hours later. The first time around 2 hours later. Second time they didn't brought the drink. 3rd time I got it after 1 hour all cold, the delivery called me saying it was very busy but I think he forgot my dinner. I don't know if is the delivery or the place. But I won't buy never again.

Asked twice for cheese curry chip was given a cheese chip, chicken burger was tasteless abd the salad was certainly not fresh on it. This place ranks very low for service and food.

Never got a bad meal from here, friendly staff and a quality meal every time with big portions, best chips in town!! Edit: Always know how to keep a smile on their customers faces during covid times, put in my delivery note that I was selfisolating and they left a lovely note on my chips, favourite takeaway in town♡♡

Food was freezing everything was tipped out of the bag the chips was very under cooked and like mush place has gone down hill so badly what a shame it takes no pride in itself anymore my sons food was freezing cold he couldn't even eat it very very very poor and disappointing

We made an order of two 5oz burger deal, curry and cheese frys, and onion rings. The burgers were just awful they were DROWNED in mayonnaise, both ends of the burger had the thickest shmear of mayo yuck. I could see the beef patty was nicely grilled but the mayo definitely overshadowed any flavor it might have had. The fries were bland and soggy I could have wrung out the oil from them and had plenty to make some fries of my own at home. The onion rings were so beyond soggy that they were practically inedible. You can tell the oil they use to fry is not as hot as it should be allowing food to soak up oil rather than crisping it. We will never order again. The one extra star is for customer service they are nice people just horrible cooks. I guess you can serve horrible food and get away with it since there isn't much variety in the town.

Lovely Dinner and and takeaway extensive menu and plenty of seating room for social distancing. I tried fish and chips delicious and the burgers look really good. Give it a try. Staff are really pleasant too.

This place has a great outside seating area, the location is good, service is very friendly and welcoming. But the food isn't great. Have not tried some of the other menu items. I think that we didn't choose well. The sandwiches we ordered were average not very good. Such a shame as this place has so much going for it. I am thinking that maybe I need to go back for a second and third time to really make sure. Wifey ordered the turkey baguette, and I ordered chicken ciabatta. Sadly they came untoasted, and this is where most of the problems lay. With my chicken ciabatta the chicken was cold, dry and a little hard to swallow. During eating, it was a mixture of coolness and room temperature bites. Was a shame, toasting it would have solved many of taste issues. Wifeys turkey baguette had an odd one too. I think it was the cheese and apple combination that put an odd taste on it. Wifey felt the sandwich had been made the night before and microwaved to melt the cheese. I didn't think so but regardless it wasn't nice.and we wouldn't order it again. The tea and coffee was nice. The Acai Kick smoothie was a little expensive for what we got. I am not sure what they did, but it didn't combine, and sperate after a few minutes. It was super sweet and I think it might have been blended frozen fruits with added fruit juice. I don't think any of it was fresh, and wouldn't recommend it. So wifey wouldn't recommend, and Hubby thinks if we did go back we would try something different. +1 star given for Owner Response.

Awful experience today due to the manager. Had lunch here today with my mother! We ordered food and i went up to get another plate and pot of hot water. She raised her eyes up as if it was such an inconvenience! So we ordered the garlic flat bread, it came with some kind of black dressing on it! Well it was covered in this awful black dressing! Needless to say my mum couldn't eat it! The waitress offered to get something instead! So she had some soup! When we went to pay, she (the manager) charged for both the garlic bread and the soup! Didn't mind paying for the soup as she had that, but to pay for something she didn't have! But actually as if that wasn't bad enough! It was her attitude, as I said to her she couldn't eat it due to the garlic bread being absolutely covered in that black sauce! She said it was on the menu if you read it! Very sharp, very rude! I eat in this cafe at least once or twice a week! But I will never eat here again. She just had it in for us because my mum returned the garlic bread! I've never had to pay for food we didn't eat! She has no customer skills whatsoever and should consider a job that doesn't deal with customers!

A good cafe with one of the best coffee in the city in terms of price-quality ratio, a very nice summer terrace, I give -1 point only because the coffee shop has a very strange playlist in which you first have calm music playing and then fast rock starts playing, which is why it really spoils the atmosphere and the feeling, because the genres are constantly changing and I can’t understand if it’s a club, a cafe or a pub, it’s also very disappointing that they removed sandwiches from the morning menu, which by the way were also incredibly good, a regular breakfast is of course not bad, but when competitors don’t have restrictions on buying at different times, it looks at least strange

We popped in to get breakfast we were very hungry and ordered 3 full breakfasts. What a disappointment that was €15 for a breakfast that was NOT a full breakfast not worth the money at all, toast came with it but it came nearly 10mins after the breakfast was served. The waitress was very friendly and was very good but Christ what a rip off. Have to say also the female manager was at the counter complaining to another customer about how hard she had been working. Really??

Deco was lovely, really modern and fresh. Prawn salad was not memorable and tasteless. The sandwich was soggy. However, the cup of soup was delicious The 2 staff members were unfriendly, mute, and not welcoming. When there was a mistake with our order from the kitchen, it was a chore to be fixed. Won't be back.

I stayed here with my husband and daughter and all of us absolutely loved our stay. The area around hotel is very well maintained. The dinner was marvelously and breakfast also very good. There is a mini-golf course and a playground. The place feels very children friendly. We also enjoyed the swimming pool and sauna. A fantastic stay at a beautiful place! Wonderful hotel located in the perfect spot with easy access to Connemara and the extended Wild Atlantic Coast. Check in was easy and friendly and the room was clean and well appointed. Everything you need within. Breakfast over three days with a number of chefs was extremely good and consistent. We ate in the bar twice and the food was excellent, way above the usual hotel standard, both times. The hotel is set in a huge grounds with forest walks, play areas, crazy golf and a small ice cream parlour coffee shop a short distance from the main reception. The pool is amazing and the spa is fantastic. Massage was truly exceptional. Loved it here.

We spent last weekend at Breaffy House and it couldn't had been any better! We are a family of 5 with 3 young children (2, 5 and 8) and had everything we needed for a perfect stay. We checked in and our room was ready on time. Oisin at the reception was the perfect combination of professionalism, kindness and efficiency. He was so nice & welcoming with our kids and had 3 kids colouring bags ready for them. The hotel is truly family friendly, we felt comfortable at every time, when walking around the hotel, when using the pool and when having our meals. We had dinner at Mulberry restaurant and it was outstanding. From Sarah who greeted us on arrival, to the lovely waitresses who looked after us: Christina, Lana & Ani. Thanks so much! Everyone was so friendly and patient. The food deserves a special mention. Fantastic flavours and generous portions. Thanks as well to the lovely staff at the swimming pool (I am sorry I didn't get your names!). We forgot the goggles for the kids and they let us borrow some for the time we were there. Nothing was a problem or too much for anyone. Finally, I would like to mention the breakfast (so many choices!) and the many activities and walks in the grounds of the hotel. Perfect gateway for a family. We will certainly be back soon!

Had to make a last minute booking here last week as we were travelling to Mayo for a funeral. Travelled with a 7month old and 3 year old and booked a family room with bunk beds. Our room was really lovely; modern, very clean and very spacious. Bathroom was modern with an over bath shower. All staff we encountered were very warm and friendly. Did not make use of the restaurant but we did eat in the bar and had a lovely meal. Breakfast was a bit hectic purely due to layout of breakfast and proximity of some tables to the spread but there was a really good range of options. We made use of the pool which was a great size with an additional small shallow pool specifically for kids along with a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room for adults. There was also fairy trails, forest walks, crazy golf and a playground so plenty for kids! Overall it was a lovely stay and we will definitely return again under better circumstances to make full use of all the brilliant facilities!

The avenue is now blocked on one side due to the recent sale of the other hotel, so access is reduced and dangerous to get into the main road due to visibility issues. Expensive to eat and drink here. The positive is that the staff are genuinely lovely without exception.

Everything was lovely. Grounds in full bloom so lots of trees and flowers. Great place for kids and adults. Food very good. We ate in the bar restaurant as Mulberry more upmarket so expensive. Anyone who likes crustaceans there was fresh lobster, crab etc.

Great hotel for a break away. Food was amazing and we were stuffed after our meals! Rooms were perfectly sized and serviced daily with fresh towels and toiletries provided. Only downside was not having a swimming pool '- boys missed their swim! Will book again ♥️

I stayed at the Ellison for a work trip. It was perfectly located for this purpose and an half an hour drive from knock airport. The room was lovely with fresh linen daily. The staff are very friendly and the food is amazing I can highly recommend the breakfast 😋 and the evening meals were fantastic.

We had a christening dinner here at the Ellison restaurant. The food was beautiful and service was fantastic, we had a lovely day. Staff were so attentive! The hotel is really nice inside and a Multi-story. Car park is very convenient. We will definitely be making it a regular place for lunch/dinner. Thank you!

We arrived late and left early in the morning. The room was great — it had everything I needed. The restaurant was actually a very pleasant surprise. Dinner was excellent, breakfast met my expectations, and the service was great. Same goes for the front desk team — very attentive and helpful.

We ordered fish and chips a few times, each time passing through Castlebar and it was always great -to excellent. So 5 stars for that. The customer service is also great, with the staff making good eye contact and being mannerly. The donner kebab I ordered this week was dreadful, just a big clump of mayonnaise mixed with plain iceberg lettuce, and a few sorry rinds of grey meat. Virtually tasteless, and small, definitely not good value. Perhaps a bit of staff training in a turkish donner kebab place could work wonders. 1 star for the kebab...

Lovely burgers & chips. Good portion of chips & I got a lovely coffee instead of coke. My friend had the chicken breast burger & said it was lovely. It's a busy takeaway.

Best Takeaway in Castlebar, Mayo and possibly Ireland by a country mile! The Food is top quality, massive portion sizes and unbelievable price! The Chicken Fillet Burger and Curry Chips are the best I’ve ever had in any takeaway ever! Blue Thunder is top quality every time and I wouldn’t go anywhere else for a Saturday Night Takeaway! Keep up the great work!

We chose to eat here because the food on the website looked quite good, with a modern twist and actually boasted of awards. We were disappointed with the somewhat mediocre food and limited menu. However, the service was really good with friendly attentive staff.

Had a 60th birthday party here and the staff could not have been better. They decorated the bar for us and nothing was too much trouble.Food was brilliant. Thanks so much to Aine, John and the bar staff.

This is a fantastic bar with lots of potential! Just a real shame the manager drives all the trade away. Its no wonder locals travel to different area's if that's whats considered to be a bar manager i will not be returning.

Stopped here en route to West port after seeing a road sign advertising Horkans on the main N5. Super food, really substantial and very tasty, not crazy prices either. Definitely will return. The garden centre and other outlets are fun too. Easy parking and very close to the main road. Very impressed.

Strange place located in the middle of a hardware/nursery store. Younger staff is lovely and welcoming. Senior staff is unpleasant and gruff. Quiche is heavy and tasteless. Ok if you are starving and can’t go on without food. Otherwise, no thank you.

Had a lovely late breakfast here ( we arrived at 11.30, their breakfast menu ends at 12pm). Staff were really friendly, coffee and food came out quickly and were so tasty! We had a little one with us and he loved the pancakes. Will definitely be back.

Went with a friend for lunch, and we both chose Fish,chips and mushy peas and tea for 2. It arrived really quick to the table, the peas (Nuked)?? were a fluorescent green mush literally no taste... the fish was not fresh it was very grey, and the batter overdone .My friend thought it had been microwaved. The ten chips in small pot were ok . The bill came to €42 !!! The staff are very nice. Will not be returning very disappointing 😕

We were on a motorbiking holiday in Ireland and stopped into the cafe on our sightseeing tour. It was raining cats and dogs and we were literally dripping wet which usually gets motorbikers a frosty reception at cafes. The staff didn't flinch. They were courteous, welcoming, helpful and chatty. The food was gorgeous (breakfasts!) and our experience couldn't have been better. I have to say, bar one cafe in Louisbrough, our experience of hospitality everywhere in Ireland was second to none and this was just another shining example.

I went about a year ago and the food was bad so I promised I would not go back but today we decided to give it another chance. So disappointed AGAIN. Both times I went the food was not good. Overpriced for what you get. Just not a good experience. Shame because Horkans is so nice to go into but this place should be so much better.

I ordered an hour before hand got an email saying it’ll be ready in 25 min. I went in on time and sat there for 40 minutes… no sorry not nothing when I asked how long I was told a few minutes again … absolutely shocking and disappointed service. I will not return and will go to Everest instead. I then came home to this: see picture… it’s was all over all of the Containers .. it’s not okay I spend over 30 euro to have a nice meal when I get home from work …

They were 25 minutes late opening. When I was shown to my table the owner threw the menu at me. Theres was no music throughout the meal. The popadoms came with basic onion mix and only mint sauce which I don’t like. I had to ask for Mango chutney. Didn’t dare ask for lime pickle. The starter was only just palatable and the main was extremely basic. I would never go here again. It was a disaster from start to end.

No welcome by the manager who barely speaks English. Table disposable nylon cover is ripped and overused. Manager gave us the menu and left without saying a word. Food came in and there were flies in the restaurant around us and he did not make the slightest effort to remove them. The manager sat on the table beside us and opened youtube on his loudspeaker, what an exquisite dining atmosphere! The food tastes like nothing (neutral). If I can rate zero, I would not hesitate. We paid and left, no good bye and no please come again. Pitiful indeed!

Sizzling Chicken Tikka with a sauce on top for starter korma same korma sauce used for the special chicken curry they called it. Reception area a mess too bright no atmosphere like you see in other Indian restaurants very out dated and old fashioned pictures for skip. Man that served our drinks 5 stars 🌟. Will not call again.

Went to Bistrot 1798 for the first time and I can safely say I’ll be returning. It’s a small restaurant but great for having a chat over the delicious food offered. I went for the lamb shank and it was melt in your mouth delicious. You could easily walk past this place but it’s definitely worth seeking out.

Went here last weekend and had a fabulous meal with my wife. Really nice menu. Lots of Fish and other dishes. my wife had the Hake and prawns which was a generous portion and I had the Belly pork with Scallops. Seen the beef also and looked great. Really Delicious food, service was good and Wine was reasonably priced, we had the cheese board for Afters. Overall a top class meal and we really need to support these guys . Definitely will go again.

So nice! Really good food, had oysters to start and steak for main and both were gorgeous! Also the wine was really good too. We were a group of 9 and everyone was super happy. Would definitely recommend!

Had a very enjoyable family dinner here. Thankfully not a chicken nugget in sight but half portions of all mains were available. The steak and chips were high quality. The slow braised beef cheek with mash was to die for. Nice wines by the glass and prices were reasonable. Service was very friendly and helpful. They saw that one of the kids was over hungry and teary eyed as a result and had food on front of him in no time. The atmosphere is delightful. Lovely music from yesteryear with tables close together and twinkling lights everywhere. I highly recommend this for romantic couples dinners, groups of friends getting together as well as a family meal.

We ate here this evening as a birthday celebration, it was absolutely fabulous, we were very happy with everything! The service was fast & friendly, the food was amazing, especially the scallop starter with prawns & cherry tomatoes in garlic, beautiful! We will definitely return, thankyou 😊

We visited Castlebar and went to Bistrot 1798 on recommendation. We were not disappointed! The food was delicious, generous portions for moderate price. The waitress was very helpful, professional, and friendly. This is a small place but with great character. Really recommend trying to visit this boutique restaurant and enjoy the atmosphere.

The waitress is good mannered and radiates good vibes. Menus placed on the plates an cutlery which we suppose to use. Knifes lay on a bare table, upsidedown glasses stand on a hara table too. Not so hygienic. 2 storey restaurant with ample sitting spaces and waiting area for take away. It is clean including toilets. The carpet on stairs is literally black and in need of replacement. Ordered: 1) masala tea - black tea with a hint of spices, almost black in colour, served in a tea pot, no presence of tea bag or tea leaves. 2) veg samosas - 2 samosas mid fried, the stuffing is mainly potatoes, not fresh and gone a bit sour. Free 2 papadams accomplished with chopped onions, green and red sauces - onions and papadams are standard, sauces are watery and have week taste 3) onion culchi - white wheat flour flat bread with onion - avarage and not impressive . 4) vegetarian Dhansa- yellow split peas, green peas, cauliflower, carrot in tomato sauce, decorated with shredded fresh ginger, slice of lemon and a ring of conserved pineapple, middle spiced, precooked. It could be done better. 4) Palak paneer - spinach cooked in middle spiced sauce with cubes of paneer. Paneer itself is good. Spinach was presumably frozen, not fresh. Could be done better. Food is served in metal dishes, suitable for food warmers, but there were none to keep meals warm. Could be improved.

They were super accomidating when I booked a table for 10pm. The lovely guy who was looking after us was so friendly and couldn't do more for us. We had complimentry food before our meal. Even though we were the last ppl in the resturant he didn't rush us to finish up. The food was delicious and so was the drink, I got the sagg paneer and it was perfect with a glass of white wine. I would, recommend this place to others.

My recent visit to Tulsi restaurant was very bad and disappointed. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Firstly, the food was served cold and did not meet the quality standards I have come to expect from your establishment. Additionally, the taste was quite disappointing. Moreover, I was particularly disheartened by the rude behavior of your staff. Their lack of professionalism and courtesy significantly marred our dining experience. I am not recommending to anyone to spend your time and waste your money. I wasted 70 euro on that day.

Good indian restaurant at castlebar. Taste is good but the waiting time for food is too long after ordering.

Avoid we were here a year ago went tonight for a curry. First up the plates were filthy that were sitting on the table had to ask for clean ones. Had to ask for clean plates as the serviette I clean them with was black !! I ordered a chicken shashlik which is a dry chicken sizzling with onions and peppers. They brought me out chicken pieces in a grey sauce, I said to the waiter that is not what I ordered he said “isn't” took it back to the kitchen the brought it back out in less than2 minutes where they had a rubbed the sauce. The chicken rogan Josh was very poor but we ate it.😦 we sat at a table downstairs all you can hear is a microwave pinging. Asked the waiter that couldn’t give a hoot, if it as changed hands he said it had . We wont be back such a shame it was a great restaurant

Horrendous staff treatment towards customers! We would have ordered here always if we fancied a Chinese as it's the best out of an average bunch, always spending at least 35/40 quid everytime we order. This evening I placed an order and as always the employee on the phone was very polite and it was hassle free, after 30 mins i checked to see how far off the food would be and realized my phone had dead battery and rang the restaurant straight away to ask could I give a different number for the delivery driver and the employee on the phone was saying that they had already tried to be on contact, I felt bad thinking we've wasted the time of a delivery driver but the employee was annoyed and I understood and asked her to calm down that I'm not trying to argue, I realized it was partially our fault and I was going to accept cold food that nearly cost me €50 (honestly I don't know how quick they tried to phone as I placed the order 40 minutes ago at this point and the lady said they tried 15 minutes ago, deliveries normally take up on an hour so I was confused but also impressed that they can get fully cooked food out on this time) anyways the employee i had originally placed the order with was making remarks in the background saying " get her to pick it up"," can she not come in and get it herself " and I felt bad so I considered going in for a second but the attitude on the phone was awful !! The employee in the back making remarks about me was getting upsetting to listen to so after ignoring it I just said " you know I can hear everything the other worker is saying thats so rude" and the lady paused and then SHE LAUGHED down the phone and then went quiet and then I just got so angry saying that it was so disrespectful how they were treating me and it was disgusting behaviour and then I said to her that I was not demanding new food I would accept the cold food as I knew I was partially at fault and then she said sorry but it was such a fake apology she sighed down the phone at me too, overall I have felt very upset from this encounter as I never expected it, I've been the employee in this situation before so I did understand their side but not deserving of this behaviour either, I would never in my life have treated a customer like that even if they were rude, it was the kind of behaviour that when I hung up the phone I could only imagine what they would be saying. We will never order or recommend this place

Horrible We just stopped here and left the whole entire main course on the table as it was horrendous. Asked for chicken satay our favourite meal and in no way did we received satay. It was a plate of grease and salt. When we went up to pay for our starters they refused to discount the uneaten mains that was still on the table. We eventually got the price from 39 to 25 which in my opinion is outrageous

Not the best chinese I had. Ordered sweet n sour and it didn't taste great and should have had more veg. I will go in again and try something else though.

Have eaten here many times, and I always seem to pick the bad dishes. But then I realised that I am picking the dishes that Cafe M shouldn't be making. Stick what they do best. The good old fashioned plain grub, no frills just good honest greasy spoon cafe food. There is no shame in it, especially when it so good. But sometimes the chefs want to branch out and try something different... And I commend them for trying. On my previous visit I ordered a fish dish, which was ok, but had been over cooked and landing dry. It was nice but not well executed. So this time around I read on the menu a Spanish dish with egg, potato and chorizo. The caption underneath was read something like, try it you'll love it. fair enough. In my mind I was expecting a spanish omelette sort of dish. Instead I got chopped tomatoes from a can, seasoned with a few cherry tomatoes, with fried potato cubes, with packet pre-shredded cheese and chorizo sliced into sticks. Topped with two poached eggs, one over done. My eyes were immediately put off, my taste buds didn't like the acidic over powered canned chopped tomatoes, and I hated the texture of the soggy fried cubed potatoes. The only good thing was the Chorizo. And the good poached egg went well with the toast. But sadly on the whole it wasn't good, but at least I tried it. My fault really, this place serves fantastic greasy food and this is what they excel at here. I would recommend that in a heartbeat. However if you are tempted to go off script, you probably will end up a little disappointed. I couldn't finish my plate and was eyeing my wifeys mini irish during every bite.

This is a favorite spot for our family we go regularly. Margaret and the staff are efficient and very friendly. They do lovely gluten free food and bake their own gluten free bread too. It can be really busy at time but that's because it's a great spot to eat and good value, family friendly too.

Very disappointed with this place. We originally went in for a roll they had advertised and we asked if one could be made without the onions but the waitress informed us that as the rolls were prepared earlier they couldn't be changed. When I asked if a fresh one could be made the reply was a simple No. We decided to settle on the beef ribs and vegetables. The first photo is what was brought out the second photo is what we left. The ribs were OK, just not enough of them. The veg was very bland and tasted as if it had been lying a good while as it was inedible. For the price of the food it was very poor. We ended up going elsewhere for food, it really was that bad. Sorry but we won't be back.

We went here today with our friends as they recommended the venue. The staff were very friendly and looked after us very well. The food was amazing and the service was quick even though it was busy. I would recommended this cafe for great food and service. Coffee was great too.

Service is fast, staff are friendly, food is so fresh, great selection on the menu and loads of gluten free options for those that need it. Also great value. I’d happily recommend to anyone.

The fried rice I bought tasted OK, but about an hour after eating it I became violently ill. It's all I had eaten for a few hours, so I'm certain it was the culprit. Maybe avoid any shrimp or meat dishes. The things my daughter ordered were not edible and were tossed in the bin.

I'm not normally a fan of take away Chinese food but this was delicious! We got takeout for the whole family and everyone enjoyed. I was especially impressed with the amount of vegetables in my dish. We will definitely be back

It was awful. Do not go here. The chicken curry had raw half cooked chicken and was full of fatty pieces. The spring rolls was just grease and no vegetables. The crispy chicken looked like it had just been defrosted and thrown in the oven. The starters and main courses where on our laps 5 minutes after we ordered Staff are friendly Will not be returning

Horrible food. All food is frozen and under cooked. Meats and sauces taste like they came out of a tin. Found curly jet black hair in my chicken curry along with pink chicken. I HAVE NEVER thrown a full takeaway in the bin before but this was so discusting that the whole lot went in the bin and we had to order from somewhere else. Avoid new dragon. It has been closed down by the HSE before and just re-opens under a different name. Watch them remove this review within the week. Hope at least someone gets a chance to read this. Beware of there food.

I had a deeply upsetting experience at Castlebar Supermac's today. While waiting for my food, a woman politely approached me and asked if I could help her translate a conversation with the manager or maybe she was the owner. She was trying to get some form of documentation her lawyer had requested , simply to prove that she had worked there for three weeks. She was calm, respectful, and very patient. It was clear she was under stress, but she was trying to handle the situation reasonably. Unfortunately, the response she received from the manager was unnecessarily harsh, dismissive, and, frankly, inhumane. I tried to explain the situation to the manager or i think she is the owner, but she curtly said she was busy and walked off. When she eventually returned, I attempted again to explain, but she cut me off and said, “We don’t give references get them to call,” without any attempt to understand. The woman wasn’t even asking for a reference, just proof that she had been there. It was truly disgraceful behaviour. I completely understand that workplaces can be busy, but basic kindness and human decency should never be optional. Watching someone be treated so coldly, despite approaching with respect and humility, left a bitter impression. No one should be made to feel invisible or like a burden. To be fair, my usual experiences at Castlebar Supermac's have always been pleasant. However, what I witnessed today was deeply shocking. I hope this feedback leads to some reflection, because what I witnessed today is not how any person should be treated ,ever.

Happened in here the other evening. Really hungry. Service was really quick. Staff serving us was so helpful, recommending our meal. And he was a funny member of staff...but also excellent recommendation. We both enjoyed our meal.

I went to Supermax in September. The restaurant was clean, and the food was what you would expect for the price point. This, however, is not the reason for my negative review. The reason is the blatant sexism I witnessed. Management asked female staff to go on the till because, and I quote, “that’s all they’re good for with a pretty face.” In addition to this, I witnessed management dressed like overgrown children, screaming at and berating their own staff. I’m very sorry life didn’t work out for you, management, but abusing 16- and 17-year-olds in summer jobs isn’t the way to make your life better. Furthermore, management repeatedly abused staff, calling them stupid and inept. On one occasion, management accused staff of lying, only for it to become clear that management themselves had gotten the order wrong. The shame. I believe it is ethical not to purchase anything from this restaurant until management receive a much-needed wake-up call.

Ordered online which was easy to use and went smoothly. Ordered a pizza with black olives on one side and pepperoni on the other as my partner doesn't eat pork. When it arrived we found that the pizza was covered all over with pepperoni and not a sight of olive. I called 6 times with no answer.

Food was edible and properly cooked. Service was friendly and efficient. Staff were working extremely hard on delivery orders and could have done with extra help. Management take note.

Hi. Please do read it. I had the worst experience today when i ordered sheesh kebab and chicken. The kebabs were smelling v bad as it was expired. I immediately complained to the cook , he also realised his fault. Please take v good care of urself. Food isn’t hygiene at all here.

The restaurant sent a JustEat text saying that our food had left the restaurant only for the food to arrive 30 minutes late and freezing cold, they obviously just wanted to get high ratings on the app. The kebabs didn't have any sauce and were obviously just thrown together. When we rang the restaurant to complain they were nothing but rude, answering back with excuses. Very very disappointed considering I've ordered from here many times and spent €30 on this particular order. 20 minutes since requesting new food and it still hasn't arrived. Will be very reluctant to order from here again.

When it's good it's great. Unfortunately that is not the case always. It's a hit or miss with this place. The meats can be juicy and grilled to perfection or dry and crumbling. However the pita is always on the verge of hardening, you have to eat it as fast as possible to avoid ending up with a hard pita crisp. I would love this place more if it was consistently good.

Driver forgets to give the drink i paid for. When i call restaurant the guy says sorry and puts me on hold. Could have just made the driver to bring the drink. Called the restaurant second time - they say sorry and put the call on hold again. Food dry, overcooked. Some parts over-seasoned to point where you cant eat it. Best to stay away from this!

The food was very nice. Salads and wraps, also bagels are delicious. But couldn't understand where to start queueing as staff were busy and didn't pay much attention. Other people also were confused where to start ordering the food.

Slow service and order process, really nice sounding sandwiches but when you get them they are super basic, never asked if we wanted add ons, really busy for such a small cafe. It was €21 euros for a ham and cheese toastie and an egg mayo ciabbata?! We got the same meal in the o'briens in wexford and the service was lovely, sandwiches filled with ingredients and the meal cost €14.50 Would not recommend

Yesterday morning my husband and I visited our favourite O'Birens in Kilkenny, but there was a change in management and the service was awful. We were the only ones there but we were served by only one woman while her 3 co-workers stood idly behind her. She asked for my sandwich order and then asked a few more times because she kept forgetting, she told me that the bacon was €1.50 extra. She wasn't done with my sandwich when she asked my husband what he wanted, and so she didn't forget she started putting the ingredients for his sandwich on the board where my sandwich was. All together there were 6 workers and they could not properly serve 2 people. Their supervisor was at the cash register and didn't even offer us coffee, she just punched in two sandwiches, which makes sense why the staff are disorganised when the supervisor can't even do something so basic. For me O'Briens is a quaint Irish Sandwich Bar, with kind and good service, I understand when there are a lot of people the employees can be tired, but when the store is empty and it's like this... For €30 we could've eaten somewhere much better and with amazing service. If you're used to an Irish O'Briens, I do not recommend coming here.

Very expensive!! 21 euros for two rolls this morning, had the same rolls from a garage in town during the week for 5euros each, also brought them home to eat and there wasn't much in them at all, never again, waste of money, also reading the others reviews, I've had dealings with the manager in the past and hes lacking customer skills,quite rude!

Had a sit down meal there on Friday 30 th December 2023 Took 2 friends that were on holiday here for Christmas This meal was the worst meal I have ever had. Food was terrible service was terrible No heating at all This was so embarrassing we said no sauce everything was covere in sauce Crisp beef and chicken was was full of fat covered in sauce. Bill came to 83 euros I have complained to Manager and she Eva) said she would give me a 20 euro voucher to come back Not a hope and I am just putting this review up. Because im livid. We ordered a takeaway,my son couldn't eat the sweet and sour chicken,the crab rolls was so bad! And the crab claws did not have any crab meat at all for eleven Euro it was a total rip-off The fried prawns has no taste my daughter was so disappointed 😞

Went here as a family of 4 while on holiday the chicken was rotten both in my son's curry and our sweet and sour dishes uneatable only to be binned. Charged 2.50 euro for cans of minerals not even a piece of ice served by a young waiter who looked scared stiff no personality The owner didn't even offer a complimentary tea or coffee after I explained how awful the whole meal was, came to a total of 90.30 for 4 people even asked for the 30 cent absolutely disgusting place.

I came to the golden sea with my mother, who has very particular tastes and didn’t know what quality food to expect. The food was absolutely lovely, well prepared and extremely tasty. The staff in the restaurant are hard working and very friendly. My mother and I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good quality Asian cuisine to satisfy one’s hunger.

Excellent food and service 👌 Had dinner here this evening on recommendation from hotel staff where we were staying. Spotlessly clean restaurant. Food was fantastic, I had Samba Chicken (new for me), yummy 😋, hubby had shredded chicken, he enjoyed it, service was excellent and great price. Next time we're back in Castlebar we definitely will stop by.

The pizza is just acceptable no more and the chips are soggy and taste like they have been fried in old burnt oil. The staff are handling and food together. The pizza chef has a long beard and his head is uncovered. The tables and floor are dirty and we had to ask for napkins as the self service bar was empty and dirty. Well done Apache Castlebar for being the worst branch in Ireland.

Pizza is usually good but their customer service is terrible. Delivery charge gets changed on ya after you specifically call them up to get a confirmed price first time. Delivery driver was unprofessional, "lost" our dips that were in his hand in a brown bag, just said they're not for u and looked on his car while he said they said the dips are in the pizza boxes. They were not. It got awkward to the point where we said it's fine, he left with zero apology and zero refund on the dips given. Won't be back I'm afraid.

Good selection of pizzas and other hot food here. There is a nice seating area available for those that don't want to takeaway. There are also a number of money-saving deals available and student savings which is a nice touch. Staff are pleasant and helpful; I would happily go back.

We picked this restaurant because of the good reviews . We visited on Friday evening 19.30 for dinner . The restaurant was empty , decor was dated and food was really slow to arrive . The only good things was the young waitress was so nice and friendly and genuinely tired so hard . Taste wise : we had a shared veg platter as appetiser : 1 halved spring roll , 1 halved samosa, 1 halved other something and 4: 5 onion Bhaji The dishes were served in white china not usual Indian copper / tin pots :( So disappointing

This place when it opened was great now it is awful ordered chicken madras and lamb Karachi which were both the same sauces and not anything like what they should be,and so so watery,the bhajis and the bread were terrible too,unless it gets a new owner I would never go back save your money and go somewhere else ,if I didn't live so far away I would have brought it back.

Got a chicken balti and chicken korma last night and nearly choked on bones. There was multiple bones in my chicken balti and my partner even found some in his korma, I rang the restaurant and the young girl informed me the chef said there’s meant to be bones in a chicken breast dish! Never in my life have a got a chicken balti anywhere with loads of wish bones and huge shards of bones! I was told manger would call me and I am still waiting! Be careful ordering here, it’s a choking hazard

Spent around €80 on food from here, once we got it home the main courses didn’t look right at all, the Rogan Josh was creamy and didn’t look right. Tried everything and all of the main courses tasted off, like sour milk. Super disappointing as we’d spent all that money and got all the way home to realise it wasn’t good. Took it all back the next day and had to bargain to get a refund, still only got €50 back, better than nothing but overall not a great experience. Starters tasted ok apart from stale poppadoms. When we went to pick it up, the lights in the stairway didn’t work (accident waiting to happen) and the place was empty.

It was my first time trying this restaurant and I was so disappointed. There was a pool of watery liquid on the plate from the sauces. The peshwari naan was super stodgy and didn’t taste fresh, everything just seemed under seasoned. I will not be retuning.

Just ate in, in The Great Indian cuisine. Food was absolutely amazing. So tasty and fresh ingredients. The Garlic and Coriander naan was fab. We'd highly recommend. Enjoy... Nice staff too.

Worst experience ever . The delivery guy forget to give coak when I called him he dint like to come back and simply getting hyper finally he is saying he have another delivery hence refuse to give coak however I paid for the same - what Dam service! and of course food very bad too. My evening got spoiled I never recommend order from this restaurant!

Two visits. Great food (try the tandoori mixed grill) but no dessert. Staff could be more sensitive to customers; some staring while eating loudly and other noise by them made me uncomfortable. I had to ask for my change back after a long time. Music this time was nice and ambient compared to the American music last time.

Excellent quality food /portions and good value for money. The momos were delicious and starter platter was a great selection! Naan breads were great as were curries. We were a bday party of 13 pax- amazing service and attention to detail. Owners did everything they could do for us to have a great time and were very accommodating. I would definitely recommend this place for a large group dinner gathering! We they serve wine ( white, red ,rose) - we even got a bottle on the house! Amazing Nepali hospitality and food - will Most definitely return! I’m very happy to support this new restaurant in CASTLEBAR!

The food was very good with an authentic level of spice and heat. Place is very well maintained and clean and the service is excellent. The owner himself had a good chat with us. He gave us very useful recommendations for places to visit nearby. Highly recommend.

My recent dining experience at Everest Nepalese and Indian Restaurant was truly delightful, especially for us vegetarians. We were thoroughly impressed by the variety and, more importantly, the deliciousness of their vegetarian offerings. We ordered a few classics: the tarka daal, the Himalayan vegetable curry, and paneer. Each dish was wonderfully flavorful and tasted incredibly fresh. If you're looking for a fantastic vegetarian meal, or just a delicious Nepalese experience in general, I highly recommend checking this place out.

Least convenient convenience store. Exorbitant pricing. New design/fit out actually makes it worse; less flow -sack the designers unless aim was to delay u in a Q so u'll buy more products. I've never not queued for ages in this new system,only 2 tills but acres of products. &no value. Or in fuel. New food concession is a fad, maybe cool for students;cos the kids behind counter don't know what they're selling anyway. A good deli relegated. Better value in food/coffee/fuel in other places around

Great friendly staff, lovely to have people who seem happy in their work. The gentleman who served me was friendly to customers at 8.30pm the day of a promotion on car fuel. Such a pleasure to be met with a smile 😃

Great place to eat, but I need to go there a few more times to really judge properly. A solid four star rating as the food is really good here. The service is friendly and very helpful. I hope they stay forever as this brings an extra choice to Castlebar. So we ordered the Rainbow Futomaki as a sharing dish, I ordered the Bento box and wifey tried the Teriyaki Soba. The sushi is ok, it is freshly made and tastes great. However for some strange reason, they drizzled mayonnaise over it. While it does add an interesting level, it is one that I would have preferred wasn't on, perhaps leave it to the side so people can make their own choice. I liked my Bento box, but again a few options that I wasn't given the choice. The sushi had two drops of mayo in them, nice, but I would have preferred it without. The Gyoza was deep fried, again nice. The rice was the rice prepared for the sushi, so it was room temp. I just wish it was steaming hot. The chicken satay, was more of a curry, but overall I liked everything, just these small points would have made it better. The Miso soup was perhaps the best I have had in a very long time. I was stuffed by the time I got to it, but wasn't going to let it waste. Delicious salty broth and highly recommended. The Teriyaki Soba was very sweet and delicious. I was very impressed with the prawns as they were cooked to perfection. Soft and fluffy with no bite in it. All in all the food here is a little on the fast food side. But it is very good and we will definitely come back to try other things on the menu. Passing plates to other tables look very tempting. The Jasmine tea was also great, a must. Sadly there were too many leaves in the pot and it didn't have an internal strainer, so a lot of the leaves landed in the cup. Here I recommend 3 teaspoons of leaves in the pot, and a strainer, or switch to a Chinese/Japanese teapot. Personally I liked the strength of the tea, but wifey said it was too strong for her. And if this doesn't get you to try, just remember they serve alcohol, a range of wines... But also some exotic sake(rice wines and spirits) and Japanese, China, and Indian beers. You are spoiled for choice here, if you want something different.

Finally got to try this new asian restaurant in Castlebar! Sushi was good, I got the california roll, presented nicely. Highly recommend the Chicken & Cheese spring roll and Unagi Cha Han 😋 Decor and ambience was lovely 😍 would recommend tho to play different music and not Spanish songs 😅 Front of house service could be improved. Clean and neat as well as the toilet 👌 Will be back again soon!

Had the Spicy Seafood Ramen, absolutely delicious,full of flavour. Also got the Salmon/Avocado sushi, fresh and wrapped to perfection. 100% recommend Kanpaiyaki. Service was fast and staff are lovely. They also have a fantastic selection of Sake to purchase and bring home. Great addition to Castlebar

We ordered take out. The food was delivered hot, it was very tasty and the portion was fair. The delivery was rather late, but they were very busy and the food arrived hot. So we were not all that concerned about a 30 min delay. We will order from them again. We will place our order earlier as we now are aware that when they are busy, it could take longer.

The food at Kanpaiyaki was absolutely amazing—truly as authentic as it gets. The ambiance complemented the dining experience beautifully, creating a thoroughly enjoyable atmosphere. Although the staff seemed to be in the early stages of their training, which is understandable since the restaurant recently opened, their courteous demeanor more than made up for any hiccups in service. Overall, a promising spot for lovers of Japanese cuisine! We had the Moriawase Large along with the Hakutsuru Sayuri Sake.

Lovely food nice little find, tasty and cheap for the price. Nice beers, polite staff. Only fault a few things I would have liked were not available and should have more duck and less veg in the duck rolls.

This is not what I want to do, but I came down to Castlebar for a day out and I wanted something different. I got very soggy and salty noodles, I don’t know if that’s supposed to be like that but very disappointed, and waste of money. I paid nearly €20 just for 1 meal ridiculous prices in there. I am not going back there and I will spread the words to my friends and family. I don’t know how this place is 3.8 stars. After I went to Lana restaurant and it was very nice, well worth the money and almost the same food. So I don’t know what’s going on with that Japanese place but it’s disgusting.

Nice café with friendly service. Food is Irish and Polish traditional food of a high standard. Even the soup noodles were home made!

I can only say as someone who has been an international traveller for many years and returned to Castlebar I can only praise the lovely manager Stellios and staff to the highest degree! The attentiveness to courtesy, friendliness and the suberb food was of the highest level. Well done! what a lovely time was had by our large crowd on two occasions! Love to all and can not recommend the restaurant enough!

After a long afternoon in MUH, the Greenroom was a welcome and relaxing haven. The staff were excellent and welcoming and the food was fantastic. It was early evening so it was quiet and the food came out in a timely fashion. We as a group all agreed that the food was excellent.

Lovely, delicious food.Everything what we ate was yummy,price range also is wallet friendly. Very friendly and caring staff members. Place by it self with warm atmosphere, very happy that we wisit this nice place, will be back again. Thank you.

Not a single one of the vegetarian dishes that are listed on the online menu exist. They had ZERO main courses that weren't either meat or fish based, leaving my poor Dad stuck with just a starter and a bowl of chips.

A nice spacious cafe with friendly, attentive staff. I had the beef stew, which was tasty but could have benefited from having more vegetables in it. It looked a bit lack lustre and bland but tasted delicious. The pear and almond tart was divine

Nice airy place with a really nice atmosphere. Very nice staff and prompt service. Meal was OK, cooked well and presented well but lacked a bit of crunch and flavour for me personally. Tasted my wife's dish also it also seemed to lack seasoning; I never add salt e.t.c to anything I eat. I know to the euro doesn't go far and eateries are under pressure to keep their business going but given what we ordered I personally thought it was expensive. The reviews for Mill Lane are always really positive; I may just have caught to them on an off day. It was a Sunday after all!.

Food is usually lovely top class in Mill Lane! I went for the Chicken Caesar salad wrap this time, i found it a bit heavy for my liking. Maybe it was the sauce. But everything else on my plate was perfect! Fast service. I look forward to my next nibble here!

It was lovely atmosphere. Busy lunch time buzzing with people chattering. Nice airy sitting area. Menu is simple yet there is something for everyone. I was delighted to see that they have vegetarian sausage option for breakfast. I would be more happy if there would be more vegetarian food options for lunch menu.

I have been here three times, twice with three small kids. The service is so friendly and the food is delicious and reasonably priced. I would recommend anything chicken. The goujons are fresh and homemade. The buttermilk chicken burger is insane. The chicken caeser is made with said goujons. Such good quality. I'm delighted to have found it.

A hidden gem. I love mexican cuisine and here it is served in an exceptional way. Roman is a very friendly and helpful guy. He made me a fantastic burrito for a very reasonable price. My wife was delighted about her quesadilla too. The best food we had on our holiday in Ireland.

Everything was very tasty. Very nice service and I received my order quickly. Roman explained everything and advised which dish would be the best for us. I will definitely go back there soon.

He has autism and is especially picky with his food but she made the perfect burrito for him and he scoffed every bite! Thanks to all the great staff here. Food was incredible - so fresh and light but filling. Roman was an absolute gentleman, explained all the flavours and levels of spices to us. Place was super clean. Will definitely be back.

We were served by Roman, (not me!) fabulous service, first time ordering, guided me through the selections and gave advise on what tasted well together, enough chatting, food is out of this world!

I don't recommend it to anyone because you can never order from them. I managed to order from them once, but the nachos were cold and dry and tasteless. It made my stomach hurt.
