Where to eat: the 50 best restaurants in Tetouan

We came here to eat an iftar meal after an entire day not eating. It was one of the only restaurants open in Tetouan. From the beginning, we felt unwelcomed. We were not presented with the menu, and the food was just thrown on the table. The waiter downright ignored our questions when we asked what was part of the iftar meal and what the price was. Then we were lectured by the staff about how Ramadan and Iftar works, as if we don’t know already. We were told that giving us the Iftar meal was a “favor” — whatever that means. We were told we needed to take initiative to ask about what the menu included (we did, multiple times, and were ignored). Terrible experience. I would say ignore this place but it was unfortunately one of the very few restaurants open in Tetouan. Still, ignore it and don’t give them your business.

I had couscous and fish soup there, but I didn’t think either was worth the price. The couscous was especially disappointing: if you want authentic couscous, you expect meat with seven vegetables or chicken with onions and raisins—not a mix of both like they serve here. When I asked for just the seven vegetables, I got eggplant and potatoes instead, and no hummus. The fish soup was really underwhelming; honestly, even a simple Royco-style fish soup tastes better and is much cheaper. For these prices, I expected a lot more.

The hotel is stunning! The rooms are beautiful but the beds are way too soft and the sheets are so cheap and synthetic. Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is quite expensive. The bar upstairs is great and the tapas are delicious and very well priced..

This restaurant was the best experience in our stay in Tetouan, we ordered the couscous, the Tajine, falafel and grilled salmon. Everything was good but the couscous was outstanding, if you go you have to order it.

We are here for lunch. Before coming I was so afraid that this would be a tourist trap, but to our surprise the food is quite good. We had pastille, kefta skewers and lamb tajine, all made with care and tastes really good. It might cost more than local price, but I think it’s also because there’s extra effort and I could see it and taste it at least, and it’s definitely above average. Interior is nice and music is also nice. We paid about 20 eur per person.

This was a great find recommended to us by our hotel. We had dinner on the terrace, which was beautiful and very romantic. Great for date night. The food was okay - it felt a bit overpriced for the quality, but overall we were happy with it. The service and atmosphere were both fantastic.

My friends and I went to this restaurant to celebrate a friend’s birthday. We were excited to make it a special day for her. We first sat in the “Resto” area to order food before surprising our friend, but we took some time to choose because there weren’t many options that suited our preferences. Suddenly, a waiter came over and told us to move upstairs to the café area, saying that this place wasn’t suitable for us if the prices didn’t match our budget. He also made a sarcastic comment like, “Go celebrate your friend’s birthday there,” which completely ruined the surprise and embarrassed us in front of our friend. We were expecting better treatment and more respect, especially as paying customers coming for a special occasion. Very pretty and a lot of authentic Moroccan esthetics to take picts in The Riad itself. Being a guest for 6days there with ur family is a home away from home but with vacation vibe. Lurve the place and the staff there. Very humble and friendly even tho they do not speak English at all. Highly recommend this Riad if u’re planning a trip here.

We had lunch here for 6 of us - roughly $100 for the best food we’ve had so far. The cous cous chicken was our favorite. We did not stay but the Riad courtyard was beautiful

Was reccomended La Esquina del Pescado by a friend from Tetouan and was very happy with my meal! As I visited towards the end of the day the fresh seafood selection was relatively limited and I opted for a swordfish and tomato tagine. To start I was brought a sampler of paella-style rice and a medley of olives. The rice was fragrant and well-cooked and I enjoyed the olives, which were firm and briny. The tagine, generous in portion, was delicious, with a fresh swordfish and a deeply savory tomato sauce. At first I enjoyed it with the mandatory serving of khobz, before finding it even tastier over rice. Satisfied, I opted for a light dessert of 'orange salad', consisting of orange slices that I dusted generously with cinnamon.

Excellent !! We had lunch, 2 adukts and 2 children and paid under 500 Dhs (50 euros). We ordred : salad russa, gambas pil-pil, espadon regamenté, fried calamars, sea fruit tagliatella, orange juice and for dessert, the Esquina cup, so yummy 🤤 Service was very good, but I have to say we came in not very busy day and hour.

Nightmare! The expensive price not match with the quality. Seafood aren't fresh. Lemon juice is so sour and salty! Dessert don't come until we want to pay and cancel it (they say they would let us cancel the dessert but no, they wont let us cancel and serve it). The only good thing on this restaurant is the nougat glace dessert. It is so good.

Very local restaurant with very nice people, the service was very fast and they gave you few apetizers for free. The soup was good, but the seafood dishes were awesome!

The place is clean but it's not wide, toilet are clean too... The decorations are great ( marine and sailing theme). The food quality is good but I don't recommend to go there late because you'll find nothing or they will give you a small dish with the price of the normal large one as they did to us( it was 09:00 pm) so better to go there when it's a bit early. They serve olives and bread as appetizer. We had a mixture of sea food and fish one fried and one grilled. A fish soup and a salad.

The restaurant initially opens at 12:30 according to Google and we turned up at 13:30 with a 30 minute wait for food because there was a lot of traffic with them receiving the fish so definitely something to take into consideration to come here for a late lunch rather then early, we left around 15h and a crowd started to form. Fish and seafood was very fresh and salads were delicious! I recommend and would go again

We picked this restaurant as it is recommended by our book guide : terrible choice. The fish soup was tasteless. Both our fish plates tasted like frozen fish and mine was way overcooked. Staff couldn't care less about us. Besides it is more expensive than others in towns.

Inexpensive lodging that is from another era. Very well located with great views of Tetouan. They offer a nice breakfast and the staff is very friendly. The downside is the cleanliness and the installations. This hotel needs remodeling and more thorough cleaning.

This hotel is one of the best hotels I have stayed in. It has a good view where you can see mountains of Titwan. The city where the Hotel is exist is also one of the best cities in Morocco. I encourge all to visit it.

I’m a frequent customer at McDonald's and generally enjoy the food. However, I'm very disappointed with the quality of the orange juice. It tastes like water and bad. I don't want to eat my burger with water !! As I expressed my concern to a staff member, and their response was that the orange juice always comes that way. This is unacceptable and a poor pitch especially given my long history as a customer. How can he lie at me while i know the exact taste and quantity of the juice!!I hope McDonald's can improve the quality of their orange juice, improve the pitch and provide better customer service.

However, the experience was overshadowed by a frustrating payment issue. We paid with a foreign card, and the money was immediately debited from our account. Despite this, the cashier insisted the order didn’t go through and tried to charge us again. Even after showing proof that the payment had cleared, we were met with resistance. It took a firm back-and-forth—and my husband having to push the issue—for them to finally acknowledge the payment. While the food was solid, the lack of understanding or trust in foreign card transactions was disappointing. If you’re visiting from abroad, I’d strongly recommend using a Moroccan account or cash to avoid similar issues.

The service is the worst that i have experienced in any Mcdonald's restaurant. My order was ready to take and can be seen just behind the cashier but they kept me waiting extra time for no reason. Because of that, the food went cold and soggy, and the attitude of the staff was nothing but unprofessional towards the situation. Each time i'm staying in Tetouan and trying to get something quick for Mcdo it all goes down badly unfortunatly.

McDonalds use excessive salt and sugar to make their meals lucrative and tasty. It has been recorder that consumption of such meals may lead to increasing cases of diabetes and high blood pressures. Another health issue that has been plaguing many countries today. stay away from such fast food restaurants.. Support small local restaurants or cook your own healthy food at home. I highly don't recommend eat at this place.

Worst McDonalds I’ve ever seen…I ordered 2 coffees and they made us wait 30min because of some machine problem. I left without ever receiving the coffees and without a refund. Service was horrible as nobody to talk to and nobody to solve the situation.

The hairdryers on the third floor doesnt work. It took the team 40+ minutes to find a working hairdryer I could use whilst my hair was wet. They took me to 5 other vacant rooms on the third floor and all of them were not working. Eventually they found a working hairdryer on the fourth floor that worked. There was no apology for the inconvenienced caused. They were not bothered about improving things. Basic things like this should be functionality, clearly not at Paloma's hotel! I recorded a video of the hairdryer not working, unfortunately I could only upload a photo.

I had a very bad experience visiting this hotel. The rooms were very dirty as you can see on the picture. The bed was stinking. The service team was very unprofessional. The quality of the food was very bad, but the deal breaker for me was the dirty bed. So I really don’t recommend this hotel.

Stayed here as part of a group trip. Room was good with comfortable beds, although the pillows were firm. AC was not strong. Amenities made the stay enjoyable. Buffet food for breakfast and dinner was good.

The first room they gave us had no WiFi connection at all and the aircon did not work. We complained and they gave us another room with dirty towels. The aircon did also not work. They then gave us the 3rd room with no hairdryer and the aircon is not that great ,plus the tv remote did not work, the beds are next to the very smelly bathroom and a broken toilet. I was thinking of buying some bleach for the toilet because it was very very smelly. I did not enjoy the stay at all. I will never come back again.

This beautiful square in the heart of new city of Tetouan was reconstructed during last 4 years and cost 40 milion DH and inaugurated by HM King Mohammed VI, King of Morocco. And it's worth every dirham spent. Place is very popular by locals and some tourist if they know about it will stop here too. Beautiful Andalusian architecture, mosaic designed benches around the square, children playground, café and restaurant, underground parking, lighting network make this place even more attractive. Surrounding white houses of Medina in the middle of the day will force you to bring strong sunglasses. Feddan Park is an oasis of greenery, architecture and freshness that offers all the necessary services to experience beautiful moments of relaxation and entertainment with family or friends, and to clear your mind just sitting there are watching time passing by... Main entrance is by few stairs from Ave. Alger where you enter to huge square where you can walk around and take pictures of people and architecture around, old city. Just in front of you if you continue straight there is an entrance to the Medina (Old city). Don’t worry, you will not get lost there, just climb all the time up on stairs and small lanes, be amazed by narrow colorful lanes leading up to former barrack of Spanish army, Alkazabah (entrance there is forbidden, same as photographing inside as its in possession of Moroccan army). But, anyway it worth to get there for one of the most beautiful view on whole city of Tetouan and Feddan park from above and surrounding mountains. Way back, all the way down you'll find easy. Hope this review will help other tourists to visit there, as Tetouan is a bit forgotten city, and not much stops there so discover what it offers, and it’s a lot! Tourists usually stops only on bus station on the way to or from Chefchaouen to Tangier, and its pity.

Must visit! A cozy hotel within the medina with a picturesque hall way with beautiful traditional decorations. Our room was a nice place to escape the heat that you sometimes experience under the Tetouan sun, all the while having a comfortable bed and curtains for privacy. The owner speaks good English, French and Dutch (came in handy for us Belgians). The other workers and her are always pleased to help you out with travel advice and tips or to greet you with a smile. The rooftop view offers a 360 view of the surrounding area which sparkles at night and astonishes at day…. A perfect place to enjoy tea! If you visit Tetouan i recommend that you sleep and rest here!

Very helpful and friendly staff, the location was very good right next to the tannery,cheap food outlets and little shops, also right around the corner from the main square! The view from the terrace is unbeatable, absolutely stunning! The riad is beautiful and very clean, and breakfast is great! We had dinner one night in the riad of Couscous and tajine and it was amazing and a great price. They looked after us well :-) thank you!!!

It is located in the Medina of Tetouan, so you cannot get here by taxi, only on foot. Like all the buildings in the Medina, they are very old but are being renovated. If you expect to find a modern hotel with very high standards, don't come here! If you like the history of the place, and you want a traditional house with small modern adjustments, come here! I liked it very much. We had a very large and bright apartment, which I highly recommend. A quite hidden hotel amidst the labyrinthine streets of the medina of Tetouane, but a wonderfully gem in itself - the host said it's 300 years old, so we could go back in time while resting here - and we really felt the spirit of the bygone time. Our room was - as the whole Riad itself - very cozy and really put our minds at ease after a long day full of journey and adventure. The icing on the cake was the beautiful roof terrace, where we attended the sunset and spent some hours reading and listening to the hustle and bustle of the busy streets. Lastly, the breakfast was a more than delicious completion of our stay. Thank you very much for your hospitality!

We were really looking forward to trying traditional Moroccan tagine during our trip, but unfortunately, our experience here was incredibly disappointing. My husband ordered the chicken tagine and the beef one and within a few hours, he was extremely unwell — nausea with vomitting multiple times in the night, stomach cramps, and an upset stomach that lasted all night. It completely ruined our evening and made us worried about the food hygiene standards being followed. Even aside from that, the tagine itself was shockingly average. The chicken was dry, bland, and lacked the depth of flavor we’ve come to expect from such a beloved dish. It felt rushed and uninspired — more like boiled chicken with random vegetables than a proper tagine. For a restaurant in Morocco, serving such a poor version of a national staple is honestly unacceptable. We hope management takes this feedback seriously, both for the sake of food quality and, more importantly, customer health.

The mixed fried seafood was delicious, the service was at best average, and we also had the paella, which was not good to my taste. The paella lacked flavor and the prawns had an unpleasant odor to them. I usually come to this place to read a book or work on some stuff. it's a very familiar and cozy space where you cam feel calm and relaxed... one of my favorite things about it is it got a huge open space with a fantastic view on the outside. I usually set in front of a wide open window to contemplate the marvelous sunsets. I ordered a Moroccan menu for breakfast and all I get it is a piece of bread. The place is nice and could do better but the stuff is really rude and they do t care of you get the order or not. It is soo frustrating to order your food and wait about 30 min to get only a harcha.

I ve always preferred fujiwara tetouan for it quality and it quality/price ratio but this time I was so disappointed, I ordered ares which is 50 piece set that cost 309 dh with normally just fresh sushi without the fried ones ,first disappointment is when i took my order and went to the car ,I was stunned to find that there was just 40 pieces, i don't know if it was an honest mistake but they left out the only 10 piece with samon , and the second one is that the sushi quality dropped significantly, like how come 40 pices with surimi in it (the low quality ones) they tasted it very bad ,so basically I ate surimi ,rice and avocado ,I don't know how can you describe it as sushi without the fish, i hope you learn from my review , and reevaluate your quality because it got down significantly.

I tried this cafe-restaurant for the first time and I love their emince poulet and iced macchiato..it was splendid ! Emince poulet was so good, rice cooked well-done plus tender poulet and I was really surprised with veges, taste clean and not oily at all, they did a great job 👍 Their iced macchiato is superb but not a good match with emince poulet because both have heavy taste yet I ordered it because I craved for it and I found iced coffee hardly to be seen in Tetouan 😥 I think mojito is probably a better choice to pair with this menu 😉

We ordered 2 large pizzas, one was a Mozzarella pizza with thick crust, and the other was a sea food pizza with a thin crust. The thin crust one was great, and very tasty, but their pan(thick) crust wasn't good at all, very fluffy and greasy. If you've not tried their pan crust before, or if you don't really like thick crusts then I don't really recommend it for you as there's a chance that you might not like it. I've also tried their salad, and it was very tasty.

The food was okay, i love the cheesy crust which is why i will keep going back to pizza hut. But i will not be going back to this pizza hut in particular. The service was horrible and the manager was worse. The servers don't even bother greeting you. After 15 minutes of them ignoring you they toss the menu then leave without even making eye contact. You have to flag a server down, which is incredibly difficult because they’re too busy chatting around the counter. Once i let the manager know we have been waiting for 15 minutes for someone to come to us, he gave me attitude and was overall incredibly rude. They had bottled soda but refused to serve it to us and insisted on serving us half water-half powder soft drinks. I have seen how soft drinks are made and it is incredibly disgusting. Also the salad bar needs sanitizing more often. The seats need to be changed, the leather is practically gone.

The place is top floor so it has an amazing views over the rooftops of Old Medina houses and you can see far away the mountains and sea too, so it's really special. The furniture is simple and traditional with a beautiful Moroccan touch, it feels super comfortable. They make Ibrik Turkish traditional kind of coffee which was a good experience as well.
