Restaurant
If you find yourself in Mauritius, make sure to visit Cabane du Filao for an unforgettable dining experience. Nestled by the beach, this charming spot is run by a delightful couple who create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The menu features only the freshest seafood, caught daily by the husband himself, ensuring that every dish bursts with flavor and authenticity. Guests rave about the lobster, shrimp curry, and calamari—each prepared with love and served alongside local accompaniments like rice and chutney.
Unforgettable! Whenever we are in Mauritius, we go here at least once for dinner. A lovely family atmosphere, extremely fresh and delicious food. Only what the husband catches that day is served. His beautiful wife is then allowed to cook super tasty food! I read the reviews today that said it was too expensive for a public beach. But it's fresh, made with love for every guest. The sunsets here are simply fantastic. You can also bring your own drinks. So spending €45 for a 0.5kg lobster is worth it! It's a different Mauritian way of eating out. So definitely recommendable! We will be back again and again. Thank you

If you are looking for a place to eat by the beach, this is the place to go. Not only was the owner nice, but the food was amazing. He mentioned that he only cooks whatever he caught that's fresh. None of his seafood is frozen. Such a beautiful experience. It's a tiny little shack on the beach. They set up the table for you and even put up a tarp if it starts to rain. Very considerate of them. Highly recommend.
Neha W — Google review
Easily the best meal we had in Mauritius. If you’re looking for super fresh fish and local vibes served by the friendliest couple you can imagine this is the place for you. Prices are fair and are listed on the wall. They only sell the freshest fish so you never know exactly what he will have that day. We had the lobster, shrimps in pepper and white tuna curry. Every dish was outstanding. We hung out with the owner for hours sharing stories and beers. (Also try the homemade vanilla rum). They even brought out some instruments and played some classic Mauritian music. Amazing experience. Go!!

Owners are super kind, friendly and the food is just crazy delicious !! Directly from the sea to the plate, with a quick stop on the plancha/bbq. Quantity is more than what you expect. Best experience on the island ! 😁 (PS: go for the lobster 🦞😋)
Victor B — Google review
We had lunch there and it was superb. Arrived at 12 and they were just setting the chairs out. We ordered the calamari which was one of the best I have ever had. The batter had spices and herbs and the squid wasn’t over cooked. We then had the prawn curry and 500g lobster. They both came with rice, dhal and a tomato chutney. Both where fantastic and I would highly recommend. The staff were very friendly and spoke good English. They brought something to deter the flies and even offered to look after our one year old who wanted to run around. All in all one of the best meals I have had here!

Loved the food here! Best fish curry I've had in my life. The owners vere very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely come back!

Our friends recommended this place for rabbit fish as the best fish they’ve ever tasted. They were not wrong! This little spot with friendly hosts leaves a great impression, the fish was delicious, even the skin! They even put beers in beer holders - that’s a nice touch. It’s a quiet place along the coast with a breeze. Such a pleasant experience!

Restaurant
La Faya is a charming dining spot nestled within the hotel premises, offering an idyllic beachfront location where the soothing sound of waves enhances your meal experience. This restaurant specializes in Mediterranean and French cuisine, making it a unique choice for those looking to indulge in flavors beyond typical Indian fare. While it can get quite crowded, allowing for a leisurely dining experience, be prepared for slower service during peak times.
My favorite restaurant at this hotel. Ate here 4-5 times during our stay. Pasta is very good and cooked “al dente” and proper sauces the italian way. Pizzas also prety authentic and enjoyable. Yo cannot miss deserts, very good taste and presentation. Tiramisu was my favorite.
Ernest T — Google review
I'm sure this restaurant has changed its name to waves. That's were we've eaten last night. The ambience, food and staff were excellent. Well done. We had a romantic beach dinner and also had the opportunity to celebrate my sons 21st birthday with family Great memories

Its located within the Hotel premises, Next to the beach with sound of waves is delight for beach lovers ! Its open for dinner ,food served is Mediterranean and french ! Not for Typical Indian people ! A place where you have loads of time ,as its crowded, the service is slow ! Its desert is simply great.

Too expensive for the quality served... e.g. canned mushrooms in the seafood platter. Staff is friendly and up to speed.

Restaurant
Resturant Langouste Grille is a restaurant that has received positive feedback from customers who have visited more than once. The food options include tasty dishes like tuna steak and calamari, which are served with a variety of sauces to enhance the flavors. The tuna steak is cooked perfectly, with a rare and pink interior that melts in your mouth. The calamari is also grilled to perfection, resulting in tender and delicious bites.
Had dinner around 19h, was alone in a restaurant on a weekday. The servers were very nice. Food was excellent. The fish of the day was perfect and just 400 Rs. Large fresh orange juice and pineapple sorbet with lots of rum were excellent also but on a pricey side. Total bill 1300 Rs. Was worth. Only if it had more customers and a lively atmosphere.
Milan P — Google review
I'd give it average 3,5 stars, reasoning that service is humble and good, but food is a bit plain, there nothing to rave about. We ate lamb, chicken and shrimp. All were as average as they can be. Have had worse, have had better. Big plus was that this place was open as most others have probably closed their doors due to covid.
Kennet K — Google review
Honest review from a tourist: The owners are super nice. However, you don’t go to a restaurant for that. The restaurant is not only outdated, but most importantly - lacks a chef who knows how to cook. With the name of the restaurant we thought that they will prepare the most amazing lobsters on Mauritius. Unfortunately, the lobster was dry, had no taste and was probably frozen, definitely not a fresh catch. With the green lighting on the ceilings you cannot even see the color of the crustacean. We also ordered tuna (medium prepared) and it came out completely dry - what a waste of precious fish. The best thing on the menu seemed to be French Fries. Even so they were average. All in all, if you know good gastronomy, then you should avoid this place. Now, if you want to get some great tuna, order one at Le Skipper Restaurant nearby! For the owners I recommend: get rid of the coloured artificial lighting and get some normal ones. Try out what a great fish should taste and look like at the mentioned restaurant, look at some Youtube videos on how to properly prepare tuna and lobster, maybe put on a menu FRESH lobster on charcoal/bbq.

Nice food. All items are grilled and come with accompaniment of either rice, fries or salad. We ordered chicken and fish (catch of the day-Dorado) with different sauce options. Reasonably prized. Nice ambience by the sea.

WOW, WOW ,WOW . A BIG bowl of Prawn Cocktail, followed by lobsters cooked to perfection. Quality house red wine served chilled ( not room temperature in this heat) ! Light and airy protected outside seating area with fan's and breeze from the sea. Attentive friendly staff, very chilled !

Absolute gem of a find. We tried the Langoustines, catch of the say(Dorado) and some pizzas. Everything was fresh, flavoursime and well prepared. The hospitality in this husband and wife run and operated restaurant shone throughout. We will be back!

We came here twice and received amazing food on both occasions. The prawns were particularly outstanding. The service from Amar was exceptional. Even though he was very new to the restaurant he was able to provide great knowledge on the menu and was a lovely person to talk to. 10/10 would recommend.

Nestled by the beach, CABANE DU CHEFS offers a delightful culinary experience that showcases authentic Mauritian cuisine. Each dish is freshly prepared upon your order, ensuring that every bite bursts with flavor. While you wait—a small price to pay for such freshness—you can relax and soak in the stunning seaside views, accompanied by the soothing sounds of waves and chirping birds.
Perfect spot for a tasty lunch with seaview. The owner gave us a mat so we could find a cozy spot to enjoy our lunch. We had the roti rolls with chicken and tuna and they were delicious. The food is freshly cooked and very pricy! If you wish to have fresh fish or lobster, you will need to preorder so that she can preorder and precook the tasty curry. She also gave us recommendations about the area and upcoming festivities! So this is an absolute must eat 😄
Julian F — Google review
Here you get traditional and authentic lovely Mauritian food which is completely prepared and cooked fresh on your demand. While they make your dish, you can sit down and make you comfortable with a nice view at the beach. Birds are flying around and singing. Waves hitting the beach and make a nice surrounding which is perfect for relaxing. To be honest, you have to wait a few minutes, but that's the price of the freshness and trust me: it's worth the wait. We stayed at the Récif Attitude Hotel nearby and ate there three times in one week. This is what we've tried and loved: - chicken roti roll - chicken burger - fried noodles - chicken curry (on reservation) - fish curry (on reservation) The opening hours are everyday roughly from 10:30 till 16:00, but if you reserve your can have dinner there until 18:30. For reservation you can call her, write an e-mail or walk by the day before. We talked a lot to the nice girl (her name is Deepa) who prepares the meals and get some good tips for getting around (e.g. where is the next supermarket, ATM, bus stop, etc.), what we can do and where we have to be careful. She especially told us how, when and where we get the bus to get to Port Louis. So a taxi driver who wanted to rip us off had no chance ;) We easily become friends with her and now we miss her so much. She is such a good person. We hope to meet her again someday, so we can enjoy her tasty food again! To sum it up: the food is really, really lovely and the view is very nice. If you are hungry for authentic food, you must try Cabanne du chef!

What an absolutely amazing experience! The food was Devine - definitely the best we had in the hotel. The staff was so friendly - Alexia, Meenakshi and Vik made us feel so welcome. I would highly recommend eating here. Update: we went back here today for the second time to try the teppanyaki by Chef Nawang. Wow!! What an amazing experience and the food was amazing. Jade is a true gem in the culinary world, offering an exceptional dining experience that leaves a lasting impression. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere exudes warmth, and the service is nothing short of outstanding. A special mention goes to **Santy**, whose professionalism and kindness elevate the experience. Her dedication to ensuring guests feel welcomed and cared for makes her more than deserving of the **Employee of the Month** award! As for the food—it’s nothing less than spectacular. The **pasta** is simply divine, cooked to perfection with rich, flavorful sauces that delight the taste buds. The **salmon sushi** is incredibly fresh, balancing delicate textures with bold flavors that sushi lovers will surely appreciate. And then there’s the dessert—**the chocolate cake and ice cream** are an absolute dream. The cake is indulgently moist and rich, complemented by ice cream that melts perfectly, creating an unforgettable sweet experience.

We greatly enjoyed both breakfasts and dinner here. The breakfast team were delightful, the food and drinks were excellent and they were very attentive with our allergies (gluten and peanut). Once I let them know about my allergy, the next day they had delicious gluten free pancakes ready for me. For dinner, the chef came out to talk us through the menu and let us know what would be safe for us, they even had gluten free soy sauce. I would highly recommend.

Had been to the Jade restaurant in Le Meridien for a dinner and loved the food. The service was pretty quick, the food tasted super! It has decent vegetarian options and we enjoyed alot. The only problem is to comeback from the restaurant. Jade is almost at one end of the hotel and my room was at another end, but golf cart service was not provided while returning, so had to walk all the way with a cranky sleepy infant in my hands.

Foys Grill Sizzling Chicken Delight We recently enjoyed 4 delicious meals at Foys, featuring a sizzling chicken dish, boiled noodles with chicken, fried rice, and fried noodles. **Sizzling Chicken Dish: 9/10** The highlight of the meal was the sizzling chicken, perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The tender chicken, black bean sauce, and colorful veggies created an aromatic and visually appealing experience. **Boiled Noodles with Chicken: 7/10** The boiled noodles were a comforting addition , with added chilli and vinegar seasoning to enhance the flavor of the tender chicken. **Fried Rice: 8/10** The fried rice was excellent, with perfectly separated grains and fresh prawns that added a lovely sweetness and depth. This dish was undoubtedly a standout. **Fried Noodles: 7/10** The fried noodles had a nice crunch and loads of flavour, complimented beautifully with the other dishes. **Overall Experience: 8/10** This meal was a flavorful journey, with the sizzling chicken and fried rice stealing the show. We're definitely going back to try the fresh grills! Highly recommend for a comforting, satisfying meal!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had a great experience at Foy’s Grill! The service was excellent — friendly and quick. We tried the barbecue chicken, fried rice, noodles, and the Mauritian Chicken Salmi. Everything was full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The Chicken Salmi, in particular, was a real standout — rich, aromatic, sightly spicy and authentically Mauritian. Highly recommended for anyone looking for delicious food and warm service . The prices are very reasonable for the portions they serve .

I think the restaurant is called waves now. We celebrated our anniversary here with the 3 course menu and it was amazingly delicious!!! With the main course being the highlight, the service was also very good as they were attentive and took great care of us, don’t listen to the bad reviews I don’t think they are justified. The beach front setting was so beautiful, we made the most of getting to eat somewhere so lovely during our stay.

The dinner experience was really terrible. Very small portions of meal, tasteless food, staff hospitality is terribly bad. Not at all innovative in any sense. I will not recommend it to anyone. Please save yourself.

Best restaurant in grand bay! A little bit outside but very cozy to sit, good service, awesome food and a playground for the kids. We have been here two nights after a terrible experience in the “hidden garden”. The burgers were exquisite and the vegetable rolls were perfect with the peanut sauce. Everything for a reasonable price. Full recommendation! Make a reservation via WhatsApp to get a table

Great view, but quality of food is mediocre only especially given the price USD 70 paid for the dinner buffet.

What a fabulous place! We were not sure what to expect but the food blew us away. Had the Nomad Chicken Espetada and the Seafood Risotto. Hands down the best food we have had in a long time, and we love good food. Our only issue was that we were so full we could not manage dessert.... Oh well we will just have to come back! Coffee was also very, very good. Laid back atmosphere, perfect if you have kids as there is an attached play barn to keep them entertained. If I could give more stars I would. Well done Nomad.

The food here is pretty good but the service was lacking. No-one to greet us or seat us, they seemed understaffed. Only one coffee machine was working and since the waiter did not come by, I went to get cappuccino myself. The mugs were too small so the coffee overflows. Me and other guests waited in line to get coffee and we were pouring out part of the drinks as it was being dispensed because the mugs were too small. There is a serious issue with flies here, they were constantly around all the food and people. I saw someone eating with one hand and pushing away flies with the other

Loved the food in this really authentic Indian restaurant. Chef Rajinder Singh and team are doing a brilliant job. Loved the butter chicken, prawn curry and dal👍
