Ajijic Tango is a charming open-air restaurant with a thatched roof and al fresco dining, offering a delightful selection of cocktails, steaks, and other authentic Argentinian dishes. Situated on the mountainside just west of Ajijic, this popular Mexican chain restaurant provides a relaxed atmosphere to savor delicious cuisine. With its picturesque setting and inviting ambiance, Ajijic Tango is an ideal spot to enjoy the flavors of Argentina while taking in the scenic surroundings.
How can you not take an out of town guest to Tango? The meal was very good, the service was very good. And we got a chance to walk it off afterwards.
Adventurista — Google review
Our first visit to Guadalajara, friends took us to Ajijic and Lake Chapala, a short drive from the city. Well worth the drive. We stopped in for a quick early dinner, delicious. A tamarindo margarita, grilled provoleta, grilled sweet breads, salmon raviolis and a skirt steak blue salad. What a treat! Good atmosphere and service.
Gus F — Google review
Ajijic Tango is a wonderful place to enjoy a great meal 🥩🥩 in a beautiful and welcoming setting. The food is delicious and very reasonably priced, great quality without breaking the bank. What really stands out is the staff: incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm. The ambiance is charming and cozy, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy with friends or family. Highly recommended if you're in the area!

The wait staff is very professional. The Lunch Specials are an excellent value and great tasting. The Lunch Specials are now $105 pesos but just as good as when it was $95 pesos.

Ajijic Tango: Lunch Special Steal! Ajijic Tango is a must-visit for an incredible lunch in Ajijic! The service is excellent, and the food is delicious. But the real star? Their lunch special for just 105 pesos is an unbeatable value. You get fantastic quality and generous portions for an amazing price. Highly recommend!

Enjoyed an excellent tasting & prepared 14oz filet mignon steak with mashed sweet potatoes, spinach salad, bread, & glass of wine. Too much for one meal so had a nice lunch the next day. Service was on point & location is end of the malecon so you get views of the lake.
Steve P — Google review
Was in town 4 days and went three times, that’s my review. That should tell you everything.
Rebecca E — Google review
Very nice restaurant. A good selection of food and drinks. The food was delicious. The service was very good. One flaw was their washroom sinks. The tap to dispense water to wash your hands was an old and outdated design. All customers have to continuously press on this tap with their dirty hands in order to activate the water to wash their hands. Very unsanitary!

Breakfast restaurant
Yves Restaurant Bar is a popular dining spot in Ajijic, Jalisco, offering an international menu with good food and a relaxing atmosphere. It's known for its regular tradition and has received positive reviews from visitors. The restaurant provides indoor and outdoor seating, including poolside dining, creating a lovely atmosphere for patrons to enjoy their meals. Additionally, the friendly staff offers excellent service to enhance the overall dining experience.
Yves restaurant and garden has a very soothing atmosphere which probably reflects the kindness of the owner who provides a home for a few aged donkeys. The waiters are friendly and efficient and the walls of the restaurant are covered with art, so Yves is an excellent place for a sundowner or just to while away an afternoon when on vacation. The food is good by Mexican standards but as a South African I find Mexican food in general not to my taste.
Eric S — Google review
Had a great time at Yves yesterday while visiting friends in the area. I know the chimichanga did not originate in Mexico but Yves has the best chimichanga I have EVER, repeat EVER had. I had the chicken and it was tender and the outer wrapping tasted more like filo than a flour tortilla. Great staff, great time. Highly recommend the food
Joe C — Google review
An unforgettable experience from start to finish. The moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and a vibrant, festive atmosphere that immediately told me this is Mexican. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the chicken fajitas the aroma alone was enough to make my mouth water. The chicken was perfectly cooked – tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. The seasoning was impeccable, striking the perfect balance between savory and spicy, without overwhelming the palate. Accompanied by a generous portion of sautéed bell peppers and onions, each bite was a delightful mix of textures and tastes. The fresh tortillas, served alongside, were soft and warm, ideal for wrapping up the delicious mixture. Additionally, the sides of guacamole, sour cream, provided the perfect complements, allowing me to customize each bite to my liking. The presentation was top-notch, with vibrant colors that made the dish as pleasing to the eyes as it was to the taste buds. The portion size was generous, ensuring that I left completely satisfied. The service was impeccable. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the menu. They made excellent recommendations and ensured that our glasses were never empty, all while maintaining a friendly and welcoming demeanor. Overall, Yves' exceeded my expectations in every way. The ambiance, the exceptional food, and the outstanding service combined to create a dining experience that I will remember fondly. If you’re in the mood for authentic Mexican cuisine, I highly recommend visiting. The chicken fajitas alone are worth the trip, but the entire experience is something special. Five stars all the way!

Delightful poolside dining. Comfortable and enjoyable. Nice menu and bar. Owner watches over the operation and is very welcoming. Yves is a generous man who is very active in animal rescue. Always a most pleasant experience!

Best food place in Ajijic!!! I was greeted and was told I could sit anywhere. I was seated down next to the beautiful fountain. The food is incredible. They have a wide range of food. Steaks, chicken, pastas, sandwiches, ext. I am gluten free and I had the chicken with mushrooms with a Bourbon sauce. It came with broccoli, carrots, and cheesy potatoes. My fiancé had fettuccine with salmon. His meal also came with a salad bar where he could put any toppings on his salad. They continued to check in with us and were so friendly. Waiters spoke in English and Spanish. At the end of the night they gave us a complimentary Bailey’s shot. This place is perfect for a date night or even a casual meal with friends. Thank you so much for the wonderful hospitality Yves Restaurant Bar!!!

Honestly, this place is definitely overrated. The food is just okay, nothing special. The service was friendly and slow 🐢. I hear the owner is a generous and kind man, so if you like supporting a good human being who helps otherd, then eat here. If you want great tasting Mexican food, 🤔.

Nice poolside setting, decent service, excellent food With its courtyard layout, and its tables clustered around the central pool, Yves' Restaurant has a warm, welcoming atmosphere that's instantly likable. Service is friendly and efficient, and the food on offer is tasty and prepared to a high standard. Pro-Tip: The setting lends itself particularly well to enjoying a beverage or two on a warm, sunny afternoon.
Sasch M — Google review
Such a gorgeous setting for a restaurant. Had the rib eye steak, very well seasoned and tasty. My wife had the chicken in mushroom and brandy sauce. Big portion, with lots of mushrooms. A very delicious dish. The owner Yves, a very nice man, spends a lot of his own money helping helping numerous animal...give what you can!!!!

To start the staff was friendly and kind, the food was top notch and a great atmosphere. Easy to find right off the water walk - had the lamb burger 🍔 delicious

Went looking for Chile en Nogado before it was out season. It wasn't available. Had the Mongolian beef. Good but the rice was instant. Found it here.
Bob B — Google review
A nice restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere. I had chicken parmesan and my friend had the sea bass special. The food was good. The chicken was crispy, but had more cheese than I like but still very tasty. My friend enjoyed the sea bass. Service was great. They have a nice garden patio in the back as well.

Absolutely amazing experience at Cocinart Ajijic! The food was incredible—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You can tell every dish is made with care and creativity. The service was outstanding too—friendly, attentive, and super welcoming from start to finish. And the prices? Very fair for the quality you get. It truly felt like a fine dining experience at a great value. We’re already planning to come back—no doubt about it! Highly recommended if you're in Ajijic and looking for a place that delivers on all levels.

Really nice restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. In addition to the set menu, which includes some unusual dishes, including liver and onions, they also have daily specials. Well worth a visit. I'd really recommend the lamb T-bones. OMG, amazing and 4 large chips

Love the outdoor space, inside is nice to. Had a really good meal here. Went for a specialty dinner , but it was already sold out. So I had the pork. Really delicious...to much for one person, suggest 2 people or bring a big appetite. The service was great. Will definitely be trying this place again.

The first night, I had the chicken parasem and it was so delicious and big portions plus it came with a side salad 🥗 and lamb burger was great too 😋

Cocinart never disappoints, been here in 3 occasions, 2 different trips. Had the Ensalada Salvaje (Wild Salad) with shrimp. Wow! Fresh, delicious, healthy and light. A piece of apple/cheese pie for dessert, right amount of sweetness. One thing I like about Mexican desserts is that they’re not as sweet as in the USA, the slice size was just perfect to satisfy that sweet craving.

Hotel
La Nueva Posada Ajijic is a vibrant hotel with a laid-back atmosphere, featuring colorful rooms and offering picturesque views of the lake. The on-site regional restaurant serves delicious meals, and guests can relax by the outdoor pool. Situated near the charming Ajijic Plaza, visitors have easy access to various shops, restaurants, and entertainment options. Many guests find themselves extending their stay due to the comfortable accommodations, excellent staff service, and stunning lakeside vistas in the evenings.
This is a large, beautiful, old-world charm Inn. The room was good-sized, and the bathroom/dressing area was huge. Our room looked out on the small but gorgeous pool. The staff was top-notch, and the included breakfast was tasty and served in an amazing garden overlooking the lake.
Todd B — Google review
The food was okay, but nothing spectacular. The Bratwurst in Mexico has an odd texture and lacks that crunch when you bite into it. Ambiance is nice, but we had to eat inside as there was a Birthday function going on in the garden. Service was a bit slow and inattentive, but that was most likely because of the party. Price was on the high end for average food. Overall it was a pleasant dining experience.
Mr S — Google review
We stayed here for our wedding night. We came to Ajijic for a private ceremony, and they let us use the courtyard. It was a beautiful view of the lake while we said our vows. The staff was very attentive and friendly, and we had a delicious breakfast the next day. Very easy to walk to even after dark. It feels like being in a different time. It is an older hotel, so expect the rooms to feel as such when you book. We loved our stay, and would do it again. If you are looking for a nice place for a very small and private ceremony it is worth asking and staying if you can. The owners and staff are all so kind and we can’t thank them enough for making our wedding so wonderful.
Quinn M — Google review
The property is 50 years old and looks it. The rooms have been renovated and updated but are still dated. My biggest disappointments were the advertised air-conditioning and included breakfast. The AC blew cold but barely cooled the room. It was noticeably cooler than outdoors but did not cool down as much as I had expected or hoped. Despite this I was able to sleep fine. The first course of the included two-course breakfast was toast and coffee or tea. The second course was selected from a limited menu, two fried eggs, a frittata, pancakes, and included potatoes. TBH it felt rather small. Maybe I'm spoiled by the huge breakfasts included in the places I stay in Asia. On our last night there was a rainstorm around 1am that blew enough water into the room to cover the entire bedroom floor! The electricity went out and the battery powered emergency lights illuminated our room for the rest of the evening. Almost all of the lights and outlets were still dead when we left in the morning, but the AC continued to run after a brief outage. The location of the hotel is a 10-minute walk away from the town square. The sidewalks are narrow and the streets a rough cobblestone that challenges even the nimblest footed able-bodied folk.
Benjamin B — Google review
We LOVED our afternoon at La Nueva Posada Ajijic! We enjoyed drinks on the back patio overlooking the lake (we were not guests at the hotel) and found it extremely peaceful. We were brought there by our day trip / excursion tour guide and couldn't have been happier. The drinks were cool and delicious. The patio is shielded by a sun shade and the temperature is a bit cooler than the neighboring towns. We would have ordered food there if we had not been so full from snacking earlier in the day prior to arrival. Pick up a copy of the real estate guide in the hotel lobby while you are there so that you can dream while you drink! Thanks again for a fabulous afternoon at your property!
Jennifer M — Google review
We absolutely LOVED our experience there. The staff was awesome and SO patient with our language gaps. They are family owned & operated and made us feel welcome. We would return in a heartbeat.💜💜

I am currently staying at La Nueva Posada. I’m a frequent visitor to Ajijic. This is my first stay here. I have been here for one week and this will be my choice for every future visit! The location, the delightful English speaking staff, the delicious made-to-order breakfasts, the beautiful grounds overlooking Lake Chapala, the spacious comfortable rooms, the beautiful works of art by local artists, air-conditioned rooms if needed….need I say more, because I can, but it’s late and I’m going to sleep in this very comfortable bed and looking forward to another enjoyable week at La Nueva Posada!

Whether you're looking to unwind by the beach or enjoy a night out with friends, this restaurant offers a great setting for vacationers seeking good times and memorable experiences.
Come for the happy hours noon to 4pm. Almost everything on the menu was very well prepared, The margaritas are fantastic. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Without a doubt it's one of my favorite places in San Antonio area, and then you can walk down the road to the malecon and walk off your dinner.

I had the pork tenderloin, delicious!!!!! We also had the ribs, fall off the bone perfection. Valet parking was perfect, service was great. Manager, owner, table touched through out our meal. That's how u stay open. Fantastic.
Fiona S — Google review
Great prices & variety of Happy Hour food & drink menu. Fresh shrimp, spicy sauces, crisp lettuce salad with just-right ripened, diced mangoes. Great English spoken and on menus.
Chrissy G — Google review
Very upbeat environment, responsive service people, food was fine but nothing to write home about. My mother always said you could judge a restaurant by its bread it serves and the dinner rolls were nothing special. We had crab cakes and salmon... Okay nothing wrong but not inspired to go back anytime soon
Frank G — Google review
Hands down one or the best places in lakeside. Love the comment about catering to the expats and not being authentic. Seriously? What isn't catered to the expats lakeside...... Ribs are fantastic and have had them several times. Can to be difficult to get a table sometimes for obvious reasons. All good things are worth waiting for. Updated

Pork ribs were as tasty as my mother's! (Not easy to do.) We've been back three times and will continue to go. Close enough to walk to.
Janet M — Google review
Second time visiting was a must. First visit was very impressive! Ribs and accompanied sides were delicious. The food was very good, service excellent a must visit. Enjoy!
Peter D — Google review
Josua was fantastic server! Always a good experience! Love the venue with with it's inside and outside layout full of vegetation and interesting decor. Super fast and friendly service. Live music is always enjoyable here, plenty of dancing folks. Pina Coladas were pretty good. Potatoes and cheddar soup (I think?) Was delicious, one of the best soups we've had. Minestrone was good also. Spinach dip was tasty but the chips were too hard/too wet maybe? Something off about them anyway. Vegetable Pizza was one of the best pizzas I've had in Ajijic, loved the really fine cheese on top and ingredients. Cobb Salad was great, with large chunks of blue cheese, huge pieces of grilled chicken. Apple pie with ice cream was delicious, had a different crust than I'd seen before and was almost a quarter slice.

Nestled in the charming town of Ajijic, The Peacock Garden is a delightful restaurant that transports you into a vibrant oasis filled with lush greenery and roaming peacocks. As you step through its quaint entrance, you're greeted by an enchanting atmosphere where nature meets culinary delight. Guests can enjoy a variety of dishes, from guacamole and tortilla soup to chicken tacos and pasta, all while being serenaded by the gentle sounds of nature.
Great ambiance for outdoor dining! Large garden area was like dining at an arboretum with Peacocks wandering the grounds adding to that feeling. I had the eggplant baguette sandwich. The eggplant was sliced very thin, and was well cooked with excellent flavor. With the very crispy fries, I ate all of it and enjoyed i! My spouse had the chicken breast and you can see it the picture how good it looked! We enjoyed our lunch here and will be back!

The place is shaded and within nice gardens. The peacocks are interesting to watch but beg for food until they are fed. Ordered a Chile relleno. It was very ordinary. The beans came cold, and the tortillas were delivered halfway through the meal. Drinks were great.

Wednesday for Lunch Mom and I decided to finally try the Peacock garden Restaurant in Ajijic. The grounds are very pretty with a couple that was attentive and friendly that took care of us. We started with Margaritas which were very tasty. I got the Zarandeado Shrimp that were seasond and cook just right and was served with a tasty rice and small salad. Mom being a fish lover chose the fried bass which was quite a large piece a fish. The breading was not greasy at all and the fish was perfectly cooked, white and a wonderful texture to it. Honestly I was suprised Mom ate it all but she really enjoyed it alot. I even thought it was very good and I'm not a fish lover at all. We of course had the additional friendly Peacocks which did Share a little of my salad with. This is a nice place to go when you have friends visiting as the experience and the Menue really has something for everyone from Monte christos to Pizza. Enjoy Everyone Fred Tolodziecki San Antonio tlayacapan

A real gem. We visited last time we were here about five years ago and we were impressed then. Nothing has changed. Probably the best ribeye I've ever tasted. Food is great, atmosphere is amazing and the service is extremely friendly. Highly recommend

Lush, beautiful gardens hidden from the street with peacocks wandering and posturing. I had the chicken cordon bleu. It was very good but they used some sort of bright yellow cheese....just didn't look right. I would have preferred more of the white cheese. I'll visit again when I'm in Ajijic next.

Previous not-so-positive reviews were concerning, but once we saw the gardens, we had to linger! My husband and I shared the Molcotepe mixto...see photo. We ate here with friends, the service was almost nonexistent, yet other tables around us were getting extra service. The food looked pretty but the taste did not measure up to looks. We ordered things that never arrived, even after asking numerous times. I will not hurry back.

Great concept with the corn and the food is amazing. Great presentation, service, atmosphere etc. One of the best restaurants in the area for sure. I didn’t give it 5 stars because it’s so expensive. I get it and if I were the restaurant owner I would also have the prices set as much as the market would bare and they have no shortage of customers. I’m glad that we tried it while we had guests in town, but I probably wouldn’t go back because of the prices. Both upstairs and downstairs are nice but I like the upstairs a lot more.

Ingredients are always fresh and of good quality, any pasta you choose will be delicious, the atmosphere is lively and relaxed and the same time, live music performers play on weekends. If you look for pasta during your visit, this is the place to go.

Last night was by far our best experience. Both our main dishes and both appetizers. My main dish, prawns in cream sauce tasted like lobster! Pasta perfectly done. House merlo excellent. Highly recommend & highly recommend reservations. Beautiful garden seating under the tree's and stars. A truly romantic and delightful experience.

Saturday night we went to Pasta Trenta for the 1st time. We ordered the Garlic Mushrooms & Garlic bread for appetizer which was very good. The Mushrooms had slices of Chili th at were dried and roasted the added an amazing flavor. I ordered the SALSCICIA which is Italian Sausage with Broccoli in a creamy pomodoro sauce with Penne. Mom got the 4 cheese pasta and added chicken with penne. The Penne was perfectly cooked and sauces were delicious. Service was very good with a friendly staff. We ordered Margaritas which were well made. The atmosphere is cute with multiple sitting areas. We will Definitely go back. Thanks Fred Tolodziecki San Antonio Tlayacapan

Nestled discreetly beside a Pemex gas station, Lake Taco is a hidden gem in Ajijic, Mexico that you won't want to miss. This charming eatery offers an inviting atmosphere where you can enjoy delicious tacos while soaking in stunning views of the lake. Known for its friendly service and excellent food at reasonable prices, Lake Taco has become a beloved spot for locals and visitors alike.
Excellent place for tacos. Great, great service. Tacos are big, burritos are big. I had the shrimp and smoked marlin which were both excellent. Hubs ordered a steak burrito but they brought a shrimp burrito. We didn't say anything and it was absolutely delicious. Prices are amazing!! Highly recommend!!

Such a nice little find! Personal service and excellent food, with a great view of the lake from upstairs. This will be a repeat, for sure :-)

Excellent, low-key lunch spot... Tucked out to the side of a local gas station, Lake Taco is overlooked by most people. And yet, it's arguably one of the best Taco joints in town. The food here is excellent and fairly priced. Service is friendly and attentive, without being intrusive, and despite its gas station location, the atmosphere here is quiet and restful, with views of the lake. Full marks across the board.

Excellent fish tacos and hamburger with fries. The chips and salsa are also very good and they have excellent service. We highly recommend this place to everyone!😋💓

Have been going here for years and have never been let down. The shrimp taco is the best in have had anywhere in Mexico. Burritos are massive and fantastic. View of the lake is amazing and and you can get your car washed while enjoying a great meal. Staff are friendly and service is just as good as the food.

Boy, has this place gone down hill in the 4 years I have been here. The chicken burrito is half the size as before and is devoid of any flavor. The tiny pieces of chicken are with pico de gallo that does not have any peppers in the salsa? Downsized dish that is flavorless=no more business. The fish taco is tasty, but only 2 thin slivers of fish. Maybe under new ownership? Sad?

Check the daily specials. The burrito especial was delicious. They offer fresh mahi mahi fish n chips and tasty breakfast croissants.

Johannas German Restaurant in Ajijic is a delightful culinary escape that brings the flavors of Bavaria to life. Nestled by the picturesque lake, this charming eatery offers an array of traditional German dishes, including savory sausages and rich goose or duck pâté. Each main course is thoughtfully accompanied by soup or salad, applesauce, and perfectly cooked red cabbage, ensuring a well-rounded dining experience.
Nice low-key German restaurant with good authentic-ish German food Set back off the main Carretera, Johanna's is one of those restaurants that's easy to miss if you're just driving past. With a nice outdoor seating area and a warm, friendly welcome, the atmosphere is actually more Latin than German. Nevertheless, the beer selection is good and the dishes on offer are actually far more authentic than I've found in a lot of places. Prices are fair for what's on offer and this restaurant is definitely worth a look if you have a taste for Wurst or Schnitzel. I'll be back.

First time at this restaurant. We enjoyed our meals. We will go back. The staff was nice and friendly. You can sit outside front and back, some seating inside as well.

It was our first time here. The food was fantastic! Service was very friendly. We will definitely return in the future. They have indoor seating and really cute seating as well out in the front and back of restaurant. There is easy Street parking like 95-98% of the time. Even thought it was our first time there, every time we've driven by, I've always seen spots, might be a little harder on Wednesday since the Tiangis is close by, but still very highly possible to find.

The salmon and shrimp were delicious, as was the asparagus soup. We all really liked the German beers as well, specifically the Hats Dunkles Weizen. Definitely plan on returning.

La Bodega de Ajijic is a charming eatery that invites you to dine on its covered patio, where you can enjoy views of a lush lawn and a quaint pool. This laid-back restaurant offers an enticing menu featuring both classic Mexican dishes and Italian pasta options. The atmosphere is enhanced by friendly service and live music most nights, ranging from vibrant Mexican pop to soothing blues and jazz.
We went for an event with maybe 25-30 people. They did a good job coordinating the dinner service and we thought the food was good. We've been to some music there and it's also a decent venue for that.

We ordered the five chicken tacos (they were more like taguitos then tacos and had very little chicken inside. They were inexpensive, but I would have rather paid a little more and had more chicken (the chicken was delicious)), guacamole (very tasty), and a couple of frozen margaritas (perfect). The service was very good and we had a nice conversation with the owner. The total bill was very reasonable. We will be going back to try some other options.

First time , Tuesday night. Went for the music. Had a bite. Bar type food, which is good. Especially for the price, entertainment was great. Beers were cold, and margarita was good. People seemed to be enjoying themselves. Fun for night out.

great place when they have the "black and tan jazz trio", the food is good and the service is very attentive. but way too many old cover bands playing the same old tired 70s usa music. Enough!! how about something Mexican?

The live music that they have nightly is a big attraction. A different band, group or Karaoke each night keeps it interesting.

We had a reservation for 9 people which they accommodated with ease. We were there on a Tuesday night when they have live music. We enjoyed listening to the band, and dancing a little. We ordered drinks and supper. Everything was delivered in a timely manner and the dishes were as ordered. The food wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. Everyone cleaned their plates. The service was excellent.

Super restaurant and bar. Classic Mexican architecture. Hmm. Seems this building was Javier's family's vacation home and was designed by his mother, who now paints the hats for sale in the boutique on the path to the banos. Talented woman. Inexpensive by American standards, but good food. Liked my thin crust pizza. Caters to expats but everyone welcome. Music most nights. Oldie goldies seem to be big. If you want quiet conversation, avoid the times when the music is the draw. Javier, the owner, greeted guests at the door the night I was here. Very dignified and welcoming. Owner for 22 years. Efficient and friendly wait staff.

We Ordered delivery here Tonight on Easter. Food arrived very fast. I ordered the Kung pao/Princessa Chicken..was delicious..My Mom ordered the General Tso..wasn't bad..not what she is use to. The Potstickers were delicious, homemade dumplings with a perfect sauce. We got Egg Rolls as well which were actually the best I've had so far in the area. Thank you for a great meal. Food was mediocre, Ive had better prepared at home. Appetizers- greasy and tasteless. Every dish looked the same full of carrots, celery, onions, peas and green peppers. No brocoli, snow peas, bean sprouts, bok choy, green onion, mushrooms, vegtables that enhance asian dishes and add unique flavors and textures to the dishes. Chow mein with vermicelli noodles? Very basic. The group of 9 was disappointed in the food, not one of us want to return. It was not that busy and the service was attentive.

I just ordered General Tao Chicken, which was okay; the chicken fried rice was okay; the fried egg rolls were awful, tasting like they were fried in old reused oil and they were reaaallly greasy; the egg drop soup tasted also like they used old reused oil to prepare it, was not tasty at all. I can say that the staffer who took the order over the phone was very pleasant and the order di arrive in the time they said to expectit. I was disappointed in the food and it was way over priced for how poorly it tasted.

We came in March to climb the mountain, found this nice Chinese restaurant at the bottom. Thought the food was decent, so we returned today, from Zapopan. Food was decent. Waiter was very good, even brought us mosquito repellent. Ordered the specials which included Te. We had a small pitcher of Te, consisted of one tea bag in water. Apparently te is NOT included. Price was $170 for the te. So, twice was enough. Not driving back for a $9 USD pitcher of te

We ordered from this place the other night and had a very good experience. We are coming from New York City and the food that we got here was very similar to New York style Chinese food. We were also very happy that they had vegan options! The only downside to our order was we ordered fried rice to go along with five other orders and we only received regular rice that had been exposed to a light oil. We only received one actual fried rice. Other than that it was a very good experience. We ordered 11 dishes in total and that came out to $1,895 pesos or approximately $110 at the time. We were shocked at how expensive all of this food was. This was more expensive than it would have cost us in New York City to order the same meal. That being said, we are in Mexico and we're able to order some very good Chinese food similar to what we would get at home and we were very happy because of that.
Joey B — Google review

Nestled in the charming town of Ajijic, Restaurant Los Telares is a delightful culinary gem that you simply cannot miss. After arriving on Christmas morning and finding many eateries closed, stumbling upon this vibrant spot was a stroke of luck. Known for its friendly atmosphere and colorful dishes, Los Telares offers an array of mouthwatering options that cater to both locals and tourists alike.
I visit Mexico often. What I love about Mexico? The people are friendly and the food is amazing, full of flavors and colors. When you visit Los Telares try the Nachos. They are not your typical nachos. They are full of cheese, meats, sauces and spices. Simply delicious. If you drink, I recommend the Margaritas. If you do not, try Horchata or Mexican apple soda. In fact, manzanitas, this soda, give you as much energy as a cup of coffee. The prices in this restaurant are moderate. I had lunch, drinks and desert for about $10.00!! Enjoy y Viva Mexico.

This place is totally legit. Only been here one time but I’m coming back again, again and again. I had the garden rolls and Pad Thai and for take out. Largest and most favorfull ever Spring Rolls $59 pesos $4.00 USD. So large it broken the hamburger size to go clam shell take out box. And the Chicken Pad Thai filled the large take out box. I was so shocked when I got it home I weighed it, 12 ounce 335 grams. Spice just perfect. Topped with a generous amount of crushed peanuts. I only had one of the 2 spring rolls to save room for some Pad Thai. I forgot to ask for a side of peanut sauce for the Garden rolls but will next. I had the second one for a lunch appetizer the next day. It was just as good the next day. My secret is to wet a paper towel, squeeze out the extra water and bridge it over inside the small take out box using the portion cups to keep it from sticking to the roll. I had pad Thai 4 times in 3 days to finish. I got to be careful not to burn myself out on that place. Going back next week when my sister is coming from San Diego, that’s all she wants from a Thai restaurant is garden rolls and give you her opinion. Go to this place !!!

All I have to say is; DO NOT ORDER “PHO” does not taste nowhere near the traditional way. Order anything else but STAY AWAY FROM THE PHO. Missing all the external prepared ingeridents and they DONT KNOW what “Hoisin Sauce” is.

Close enough to the centre and lake promenade, yet on a quiet street, street parking possible. Most dishes, vegetarian version possible with tofu. Limited seating, quick service, big portions, taste alright, moderate prices, cash only. Clean toilet.

New to Lakeside and primarily vegetarian. Good reviews took us here for lunch. We were NOT disappointed! Pineapple fried rice and Pad Thai with tofu with enough to bring home for a 2nd lunch. Delicious. Male server was prompt but didn’t seem interested. Just a welcome or a thank you would be appreciated.

There is valet parking, but unfortunately there are also three sets of stairs to the terrace where St. Remy du Lac is located. The views of Lake Chapala are beautiful. For appetizers we had Escargot, and Grilled Asparagus wrapped in Prosciutto with cherry tomatoes and a creamy cheese sauce. For dinner we had the Grilled Octopus in a Saffron Cream Sauce with spicy Roasted Potatoes; and, the Beef Short Ribs with Mashed Potatoes. For dessert we had the Chocolate covered Profiteroles and the Apple Tart with vanilla ice cream accompanied by a 10 year Tawny Port.

I am absolutely shocked that this restaurant has a 4.6 rating. Went with a huge party and was told they had a spectacular view. Saw a bush and a parking lot. The glass of wine was 130 pesos and though it tasted alright, it took 25 minutes to order it, and I had to get up and ask the server for the wine because he had not taken my order. Took 45 minutes to pay my bill. Never going back. Overpriced, overrated, and slowest service in town. All the best

We were the only customers (Covid?) The restaurant is set in the gardens of an old Villa, a little off the beaten path. What can I say about the food? It was 5 star and divine, we were so hoping to make it to dessert but unfortunately were too full by the time we got there. We are going back for their brunch and will also go again for dinner. Trip's Burger Ajijic is a delightful hamburger spot nestled within the Laguna shopping center, making it an excellent fast food choice for those visiting Lake Chapala. Known for its Texas-style burgers that closely resemble the beloved In-N-Out, this eatery has quickly gained popularity among locals and expats alike. The menu features juicy patties with a cheesy flavor profile, complemented by consistently tasty fries. With friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere, it's no wonder that diners keep coming back for more.
Pretty good if you are looking for American style fast food burgers and actually one of the best burgers that I have found in the area. Service is good. Food quality is good. Location is convenient to get to but nothing special. It’s in a shopping center food court type of situation. There is also a Subway, Chinese, Indian and some other stuff in the same food court

Went for lunch. Ordered one small hamberger, no cheese, fries and coke. 225 pesos!!! 12 dollars for a small hamburger. Don't think so. Betos on Zaragoza could be a better option
Michael C — Google review
I can honestly say, they are one of the best burgers in the region and the most taste alike with the famous In n Out. Fast service, great meat, cheesy flavor, fries were consistent with the overall flavor. Price is good for the type of product they sell.. You can tell is a favorite when the place is packed with expats. Kudos to Trip's Burguer. Can't wait for the Andares Opening.
Pedro G — Google review
Paper thin burnt burger, all roll and veggies hardly any meat on the double angus, and at that crazy price “ no fries” garbage, Betos blows this place outta the water. Meat was 1/8” thick ridiculous…
Scott S — Google review
Friendly staff, fresh burgers and plenty of seatings as the dining area is shared with other "order-to-go eateries." Plenty of parking too.
J. K — Google review
Nice Burguers joint and fast service, go for the double meat with fried onion and you won't regret it. It leans more to the "American Burguer style". Reminds me to the classic In n Out. Bread is soft and spungy while not feeling heavy on the stomach. Meat is juicy and the patty is just well prepared, you can taste they've been just made and feel fresh. Would recommend to catch a drink at La Michoacana just a few steps away. More kinds of dressings would be nice though. Not giving 5 stars because fries are just average, still would totally recommend. Also there is a lot of parking space. Would say some of the best Burguer you will find around the chapala area. -HH

Great burgers, average fries and crazy expensive prices. Even if it was baby kangaroo meat flown every morning from Australia, the cost is hard to justify.
Raul F — Google review
Decent burgers but really thin meat patties. High priced for what you get. Betos Shack near west Ajijic was a much more filling and tasty experience.

For vegans, it's recommended to call ahead to accommodate dietary preferences. Overall, "Pale" offers incredible food and a welcoming atmosphere that make it worth the visit.
Lovely urban restaurant with daily specials and fresh seafood delights. A family owned business of two young entrepreneurs who have a delightful palette for flavor and friendliness. Watch as your food arrives by elevator from the spacious kitchen upstairs.

Amazing, the food is incredible. You'll wait a bit but it's totally worth it. I recommend the lamb or the filet and the mousse for dessert. Simply delicious and the place is cozy and it's owners are really nice.

Love This Place, amazing food, great service.

Absolutely fantastic! The service was impeccable, extremely attentive. We are vegetarians and were thrilled to see some great choices. It was a whole different level of cuisine, really fine dining. But very relaxed and reasonably priced. Take the time to find them on the carretera (plenty of parking), and pay them a visit soon.

I ate here three nights in a row! Very lovely family, great food and great service. I loved this restaurant. We tried four different salads and all were great. I especially like the lettuce hearts with anchovies and olives. The calamari dish was fabulous, vegan quinoa was divine. I dreamed about the lamb chops. And the fish was delicious too. The chocolate dessert was creamy and chocolatey and the papaya cream dessert with tequila was unique and creamy, memorable. The family who owns Pale’ are caring and kind. Thank you for feeding me so well!
Jan S — Google review
The food was really good. However, I had their lamb chops and asked for a medium cook and mine were red inside. More than even medium rare. They took them back and recooked them and 2 were good but the other 2 were still not cooked to a medium doneness. I also only got 2 spears of asparagus. The food is more on the expensive side.
Penny F — Google review
So happy we found this gem! The food was delicious, we had salmon and vegan mosaca which both were delicious. You can tell live for cooking is the main ingredient. Staff were super friendly and we were lucky enough to chat with the chef, David, and ask how we he created that beautiful ball of chocolate for the melted bailey's brownies. We will be back for paella! Would also recommend the house tequila.

Casa Linda Restaurant Ajijic is a popular dining spot known for its exquisite cuisine at reasonable prices. Situated in the heart of Ajijic, this fine dining restaurant offers a beautiful ambiance with impressive interior design, including an old building and outside patio seating under a large tree. Visitors can expect great food and service in a lovely atmosphere.
The food was so good last night that we came back again. We had a delicious Ceasars salad and a wonderful chicken in mushroom sauce.
Todd B — Google review
Nestled in a charming corner of town, Casa Linda offers a warm and inviting atmosphere that sets the stage for a delightful meal. While my experience had its ups and downs, there are certainly standout moments worth highlighting. The French onion soup, while it had potential, fell a bit short of my expectations. The broth, though rich, lacked the depth of flavor I hoped for, making it a tad disappointing compared to the authentic experience I was anticipating. However, the meal quickly turned around with the asparagus wrapped in cured ham—it was excellent! The freshness of the asparagus paired beautifully with the savory notes of the ham, creating a dish that was both simple and sophisticated. Then came the mushroom caps stuffed with cheese, which were absolutely extraordinary. Each bite was a delight, with the earthy richness of the mushrooms perfectly complemented by the gooey, melted cheese. It was the kind of dish that makes you want to linger a little longer and savor every bite. This local favorite is a blending authentic flavors with a cozy classful atmosphere. While the soup might not have hit the mark, the other dishes certainly made the visit worthwhile.
Edward D — Google review
Train your servers to look at your customers. Put little bells on the tables! Or something. When it’s really busy they do not seem to notice when someone is waving their hand for attention. There are always new people. I wonder what training and experience they have? Excellent food consistently good even when it is super busy and for Special Holiday dinners. Excellent. But service when busy needs improvement.

I can't rave enough about their outstanding breakfast offerings! If you're in the mood for a morning feast, this place is a must-visit. The Eggs Benedict is simply divine, with perfectly poached eggs, rich hollandaise sauce, and a delightful balance of flavors that make each bite a sheer delight. And let's talk about their breakfast burrito! It's a masterpiece, stuffed generously with savory fillings that leave you satisfied and eager for more. The combination of fresh ingredients, expertly wrapped in a soft tortilla, makes it the ultimate comfort food to kickstart your day. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the staff are always welcoming and attentive, ensuring your meal is nothing short of perfect. Whether you're an Eggs Benedict aficionado or a breakfast burrito enthusiast, Casa Linda deserves every one of its five stars. Highly recommended!

Tonight was our first time at Casa Lindas. I don't know how we've been coming here and missed this gem. The food was amazing. My wife and I both had pasta. It was done perfectly. Really nice atmosphere/decor. Great service, very personable. Loved our drinks, bloody mary con tequila was super good, house cocktail (sparkling red wine, vodka, and strawberries) was excellent too. Dinner rolls were delicious! Mussels were some of the best we've had, very tender with a fantastic sauce. Clam chowder soup was maybe best that we've had anywhere in ages. Azteca soup was tasty, Onion soup was pretty good too. Loved that they had huitlacoche for the tuna, but the flavor wasn't as good as our other items. Shrimp scampi was pretty good, shrimp fettuccine was very good with it's sauce. Apple strudel with ice cream was pretty good.

La Casa del Waffle in Ajijic is a delightful dining spot nestled on the mountainside, just west of the town. This popular Mexican chain, reminiscent of IHOP, is renowned for its generous breakfast portions that draw in crowds from Guadalajara, especially on weekends. Guests rave about the fluffy waffles and pancakes that are sure to satisfy any sweet tooth.

Great food. Friendly servers. Servings are big. Look forward to returning. Great coffee ☕️
LARRY W — Google review
My family of six (including two kids and one elderly grandmother) walked into La Casa del Waffle around 12:30 pm on July 27, 2025. No seating plan was offered, no wait-list, no apology—just a cold “No, we’re full” from the hostess, despite tables being cleared and re-set for parties arriving much later. My relatives literally said: “Ni siquiera nos resolvieron ni en familia ni nos recibieron”—and they meant it. We stood under a glaring host, unacknowledged and frozen in place for ten minutes, while other families were seated around us. We asked politely: “Is there any way to seat all of us together tonight?” Her answer was a curt “Not tonight”, no alternative offered, not even whisper of remorse. At that moment we felt like invisible second‑class guests who didn’t exist—my grandmother asked if there was somewhere else to sit, but we were pushed out, unheard. We left hungry, humiliated, and vowing never to return. Food (even great waffles) can’t fix a place that refuses you—not just any group, your own family.
KAREN R — Google review
The serves spoke both English and Spanish. The restaurant was clean. There is a huge selection of items on the menu. There is indoor and outdoor seating, clean washrooms and a special children's area for playing. I was charged for a substitution which I thought was unnecessary as the items were equal in value. The coffee was awful. We will probably go back once every six months or so for a treat but it is too expensive to go on a regular basis. Our bill for two was 350 pesos. Only coffee was ordered, no juice, or smoothies.

Panino's is a popular lunch spot located on the eastern edge of San Antonio, open from 11-4, Mon-Fri. It offers American comfort food with a menu featuring regular sandwiches and rotating daily specials. The restaurant is known for its reliable service and consistently well-prepared tasty dishes using fresh quality ingredients. The diner-style menu includes a variety of sandwich options, and the prices are fair.
If you are craving American fare then this is the place for you! Situated off of the busy Carretera Chapala-Jocotopec in San Antonio Tlayacapan, this is a "comfort food" restaurant with mostly older expats. Upon arrival, my partner’s family and I walked in and sat at the garden under an umbrella. One menu has the regular sandwiches and another features rotating daily specials where one might find at any diner in the States. The servers all are multi-lingual and know the menus down to every ingredient. We settled for vegetarian sandwich with grilled mushrooms, zucchini, bell peppers, garlic, onion & Swiss cheese, Italian sandwich (Grilled Chicken breast with homemade pesto & provolone) and Meatloaf with mashed potatoes, gravy & green salad. The food was delicious and tasty, the service excellent, and all at a great price. The owner, Lupita has been in business for 23 years made her rounds to speak to every table and very attentive to all the customer's needs. We can recommend this place.

Nice atmosphere, some indoor and some outdoor seating with live music when we went for lunch. Margaritas were good and they have a small craft beer selection. Vegetable panini was excellent, loved everything about it. I only wish they had had some spicy cheese to put in it (i don't care for swiss). Strawberry pie was very good too. We'll definitely be coming back for lunch again!

Nestled along the main Chapala - Yocotepec road, Smoke House Ajijic is a must-visit for BBQ enthusiasts. With its rustic charm featuring heavy wooden furniture and a cozy atmosphere, this eatery offers an inviting space to enjoy mouthwatering dishes. The star of the menu is undoubtedly the brisket—tender, juicy, and hailed as one of the best around. Diners rave about the fall-off-the-bone ribs that are equally delicious.
Brisket so tender and juciey was out of this world. Baby back ribs flavorful. Nice cold beer after a long drive .will be for sure

I was really craving Fajitas and the wife wanted BBQ, so we found their menu intriguing. I had the chicken fajitas, and for some reason they came without limes no guacamole no sour cream and the tortillas were very thin and dried out? My wife had the ribs and they were overdone and kind of dry and very chewy. We also shared an order of Bacorn/fries this was the highlight of the meal. The prices are on the higher side for what you get, we may return to try again but there's so many other great restaurants in the area and so many things to try it will be a while.
Todd I — Google review
Texan here, so the bar for BBQ is set pretty high with us. Disappointing meal. Meat was dry and lacking flavor. Also tried the fajitas, and unfortunately was not served any traditional fajita toppings ( cheese, guac, sour cream, pico ). Dry tortillas too. Bummer.
Candice R — Google review
Sandra and I shared pork ribs and beef brisket with sides of chili beans and rosemary potatoes. The meat was perfectly cooked with a nice smoke flavor and very tinder. The beans and potatoes were good sides. We enjoyed our meal with a couple beers, one of which being an IPA (yay). The BBQ sauce could have had more flavor and heat. The service was friendly and fast. And yes, we do plan to return to try some of the other food offerings soon.

As a rule, I don't gave 5 stars unless the place really stands out! We first ate here last Sunday, we had the combination ribs and brisket. The ribs were very good. The brisket stood out as the best I ever had! So yesterday we went back and just had the brisket ... wonderful! The couple next to us were from Detroit, he said brisket was his favorite and the brisket here was some of the very best he ever had! The service was excellent. I hope they can make it!

Although it is known for its smoked ribs and smoked brisket, the Smokehouse also has the best burgers in the Lakeside area. This is a goto restaurant for my friends and I to eat at often!

Excellent BBQ, Great Atmosphere, Friendly Service Set beside the main Chapala - Yocotepec road, the Smoke House has a rugged, traditional kind of look to it, with heavy tables and chairs and a lot of wood in its overall decorating style. Service is prompt, friendly, and efficient, with the food on offer being frankly excellent. The brisket was the best I've had in a long time. Prices, too, are fair for what's on offer, making this a fantastic place if you've a hankering for BBQ.
Sasch M — Google review
I've eaten here before and had good stuff, but we just ordered delivery through Traite and I was super disappointed with the Blue Salad and the Shrimp Salad. The blue salad literally only had 3 croutons, some sunflower seeds, romaine lettuce and basically no dressing. No hint of blue cheese. Shrimp salad was slightly better but the shrimp were super small and that salad also didn't have much dressing. My father did enjoy the chicken fried steak, his fries were really good and seasoned, and the onion rings looked good.

Second time in this place, everything is so good here! Freshly made food, great service, lovely atmosphere. I had the parmesan chicken pomodoro and fresh pomodoro fettuccini pasta this time and was amazing, last time I had the vegetarian calzone and was super tasty as well. Highly recommend ♥️

We have had dinner here 2 years ago and it was very good. This year our food wasn't as good. The pizza and the pasta that we ordered were both overcooked. Pizza was a bit dried out and pasta was mushy. We were one of 2 tables of customers so it wasn't like they were too busy. The Service and the Margaritas were very good though.

Update for 2023: This restaurant has come a long way in the past year. Food is excellent and service is smooth, professional, and welcoming. This is probably the biggest step up I've encountered in any local place in the past year Original 2022 Review: Good atmosphere, so-so food, Keystone Cops service... While the restaurant itself is charming, with a rustic atmosphere, the food does not live up to expectations. I can immediately think of two better Italian places in the area. Service is welcoming, but utterly inept, with the waiter repeatedly having to re-confirm orders and still getting things wrong. It's a shame, because this really could be a very nice venue.

My wife and I had dinner with friends Friday night at Romeo y Julieta and we were very pleasantly surprised. We’ve been here almost a year and had almost given up on finding great Italian food. But Romeo y Julieta was a revelation. Everything from the beverages to the desserts was truly great. The Cesar salad was exceptional, the pasta dishes, made with fresh homemade pasta were all fabulous and the desserts (tiramisu and real gelato) were first class. We sat at an outside table which was nice. The place was full this night so I suggest reservations. This is the new Ajijic location they moved to while the streets outside their Chapala location were being redone. I sincerely hope they keep this location since it’s walkable from my home and I plan to return frequently.

El Original Tony's, a beloved establishment in San Antonio, was founded by Tony Andalon and his wife Hermila on February 5th, 1998. Initially starting with just tacos, the restaurant quickly expanded its menu to include a variety of dishes due to popular demand. Diners rave about the Meniere Fish Fillet and meaty ribs that are tender and juicy, complemented by flavorful sauces. The attentive wait staff enhances the dining experience with great service.
Great service, maybe the most attentive wait staff we've had. Chips are a little hard for my liking but the three salsas (green apple salsa, pickled vegetables, and a pico de gallo) were all very good. Margaritas were large and pretty good. Nachos were good, but only had refried beans and cheese, if they had in topped it with some of the salsas/vegetables. Breaded fish was gigantic, really well breaded, very crispy. Side of corn was perfect, as was the bean soup, I'll probably get the bean soup next time I'm here. Mushroom lettuce wraps were good, very flavorful and filling. Was pretty unfond of the muzak playing on the radio until Coldplay and Goo Goo Dolls came on lol.

Pleasant ambiance with excellent service. The food was presented nicely but the T Bone was thinner than expected and a bit rough to cut. To be fair the cut may be typical in Mexico. The baked potato and vegetables were done right and flavourful. Overall it was a pleasant experience.

Nestled just half a block from the vibrant San Antonio Plaza, Mario's Restaurant is a hidden gem that beckons food lovers. Accessible via local buses, this charming eatery offers an authentic taste of Mexico with its menu featuring traditional dishes alongside some American favorites for those craving familiarity. The daily specials keep things exciting, and the Carne en su Jugo comes highly recommended! Upon entering Mario's, guests are warmly welcomed by attentive staff who ensure your experience is delightful from start to finish.
We have been doing Marios a while via traitte mx but this was our 1st time there. Staff greeted us at the door. Drink orders took 4min so very fast. Right away chips and the best salsa lakeside was brought to the table. I got the special which was filet mignon with bacon and mushrooms. The salsa is so good I actually asked about buying some for home..I enjoyed it for about 3 days..There was 5 in our group. Everyone enjoyed their food..all clean plates...Mom got the Ajillo fish which is smothered in roasted Poblano peppers which I took and put on my filet..omg ..so good. Mom loves their fish it's white, fresh and a great portion. We ll be back Thank you Fred Tolodziecki

Local gem in San Antonio. We have been twice in a week and enjoyed every minute. The place is family run and the whole family are so friendly and special. Food portions are generous and delicious. Make sure you follow the advice they give you and you won’t be disappointed. We had their steak and a prawn burger on the first night. We had to share a dessert as we were so full! The second time we had their platons gratinado. They were scrumptious. On both nights we had delicious guacamole made on the spot and fantastic agua frescas. We sat at the back in a very nice courtyard which had a great vibe all round. This restaurant deserves more than a visit!

Hands down this was the BEST restaurant I ate at while in the Chapala-Ajijic area! The food, service, attention to detail, quant atmosphere, portions and prices were all excellent. When I first arrived I met the gracious and friendly owner who was outside grilling vegetables for their amazing salsa and fresh made chips they serve everyone. I first had lunch where I ordered an excellent Hawaiian Hamburger and home made fries. It was so good I returned for dinner the next day and had grilled Camarones Zarandeados with a sauce to die for and the Bistec de Res, which was also excellent. I also look around what other people were eating and it all looked delicious! This is a must go to restaurant!

La Paceña in Ajijic offers a unique blend of Mexican and Japanese cuisine with a focus on seafood. The restaurant is known for its high-quality dishes and excellent service, making it a popular choice for visitors to the Riviera de Chapala. Guests can enjoy a variety of delicious drinks, including strawberry margaritas and tropical gin and tonics. The sampler platter is highly recommended, featuring a delightful combination of tuna, rice cake, avocado, crab, and seaweed.
Wow, that was remarkable. Top marks for ceviche and aquachiles. Service staff are patient and super friendly. Drinks are unique and strong. It’s a premium place and worth it. You would have to be a real Crabby Cathy to not have a lovely time here.

Loved the make over—beautiful! Haven’t been in town for 2 years. Verde agua Chile delicious. Personally thought the shrimp enchilada sauce was a bit too much tomatillo, but that’s me. Looking forward to next visit bone marrow and octopus or their sea bass special. Everyone is well trained and very accommodating and pleasant. Thx

The food was incredible! So many unique options on the menu, the presentation of the plates was beautiful, and the everything tasted really fresh. I had the pork belly and octopus soft tacos as well as tuna and avocado on top of a thick slice of jicama ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Just go. Nuff said. Update Dec 2024: Since the remodel, La Paceña is better than ever. Great staff, great food, great ambiance. Prices, like everywhere, have skyrocketed. Expect $500-$600 per person with an appetizer and adult beverages. Two years ago, it was $300-$400 per person. That's more than a 50% increase for the same dishes we were ordering back then. I have reduced the rating by one star because of this.

Service for a late lunch was outstanding. Dog and bicycle friendly. The fish was excellent. The guacamole was sublime. It was 171 pesos for three ice cold bottles of Modelo Especial however, which is a bit on the expensive side.

Excellent seafood joint - Great cocktails With its gravel floor and wire-fence front, La Paceña has kind of a weird feel to it. Nevertheless, the service is warm and welcoming and the food is superb. There's a great range of excellent cocktails on offer too. Prices are a little on the high side, but within reason, given the quality of what's on offer. Recommended...

Re-tacón is a delightful gem nestled in the Ribera de Chapala, renowned for serving some of the freshest and most delicious fish tacos around. This spot stands out among its competitors, offering an array of seafood options that are prepared with care and attention to detail. While it may take a little time to receive your order due to their made-to-order approach, the wait is undeniably worth it.
BEST FISH TACOS! This is hands-down, the best fish taco place in the Ribera de Chapala. I've been to a lot of the others and no one quite does it as fresh and tasty as this place. It does take a while to get your tacos because they are made à la carte. It is very much worth it. The bar with all the dressings that you can add, is also freshly made, and always a great selection and variety. Highly recommend.

Alex's Pasta Bar is a must-visit spot in Ajijic, offering a delightful dining experience. The open-style restaurant creates a pleasant atmosphere, complemented by live music on weekend afternoons. The menu features fresh pasta dishes, with the chicken parmigiana being highly recommended. Guests can enjoy flavorful options like Gorgonzola sauce and zucchini noodles, along with refreshing drinks such as Margaritas. Despite some past inconsistencies, recent visits have showcased improved food quality and satisfying portions.
We love this restaurant as the food is always delicious and the service is perfect. Our favorites are the pork leg, the goat cheese in phyllo appie, the Caesar salad and pasta dishes. I opted for the rib steak and it was cooked perfectly. We highly recommend.

Great food, location and service. No complaints. I’m not a big pasta person but I enjoyed the pasta and the seafood dish was amazing. The table side cesar salad and the tomato soup that they pour at the table were very nice.

Enjoyed dinner here tonight. Cute Italian restaurant. Service was very good, and the servers spoke very good English so we only had to use a little of our beginner's Spanish abilities. I had the Black Truffle Risotto with veggies. The portion size was good, the Risotto was flavorful with butter and truffle and I enjoyed it. My husband enjoyed his Zucchini pasta with Aglio Olio sauce. We split the Tiramisu for dessert and it was rich and creamy, with the bittersweet cocoa and coffee notes making this the perfect end of our meals. Reasonable pricing, great service. We will be back!

Excellent homemade pasta! Variety of different sauces to choose from. Muchas Gracias to the chef who made my fettuccine Alfredo with flavorful grilled shrimp dinner different than on the menu. I saw the photo on a previous review and asked if that could be made (it was so delicious- should be added to the menu!). The pumpkin ravioli was very good. We shared the cesear salad which was very good. The complimentary bread basket with bruschetta was excellent! Definitely a must visit while in Ajicic!

Patio pet friendly restaurant with great food and street parking only. As ststed before, English speaking waiters and they even brought out water for our dog without asking! Osso Bucco is pork as stated on the menu and is excellent!! Muscles come without pasta, so order a side of this to add to your meal. Really enjoyed this restaurant for supper.
C M — Google review
We have eaten at Alex's Pasta Bar many times, and loved it. Tonight was an absolutely terrible experience. I ordered the Ribeye, but they came back later and said they did not have any. They asked if they could substitute another cut of meat and I agreed. The meat that came was over half gristle ant the other half took forever to chew. I actually bent the fork in half holding the meat while trying to cut it. Even the large dog begging at the table had a hard time chewing up the piece I gave him. The asparagus that went with it was thinner than a meat skewer and some was so wooden it was unchewable. To add insult to injury they charged me the full $390 pesos for that inedible piece of meat. Half way trough the meal the wait staff disappeared, except for one poor young woman who was rushing around trying to take care of the whole restaurant. When we left we saw the other three wait staff hanging out together in the backroom! This the last time we will ever eat there.

Steak house
Bruno's Restaurant Ajijic is a culinary gem that you simply cannot miss when visiting the area. Known for its mouthwatering hamburgers, this charming eatery serves up dishes that are nothing short of spectacular. Diners rave about the juicy 350g baseball steak cooked to perfection, paired with delicious sides like corn and baked potatoes. The experience doesn't stop there; their raspberry cheesecake is a must-try dessert that leaves guests craving more.
Can't say enough good things about this restaurant. My birthday was on a Monday this year, which luckily is porterhouse night at Bruno's. We didn't need to look anywhere else, especially since it was close to home, and we could walk home after a few drinks. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by multiple staff members and seated at our clean, white tablecloth'd table. The porterhouse was perfectly done and we really enjoyed our sides as well. After dinner (even though we were stuffed!) they brought out a delicious piece of creamy cheesecake with a huge candle and the whole staff sang happy birthday. Beginning to end, a perfect birthday dinner. 10 out of 5 stars! Thank you, Bruno's! (For those who really want to know, dinner for 2 incl the steak, 2 sides, an appetizer, 3 drinks and 2 glasses of wine came to less than $2500 mxn)

What a dining experience. Both os us had the filet and they were cooked to perfection. Both the baked potato and the corn were excellent as well. To top the evening, the apple pie was delicious. Daniel, our server, was spot on. Frequently checking on us, but not intruding. A difficult thing to balance. This is a must go to place when you are in Ajijic.

We still love Brunos. The tomahawk steak was perfect. Cooked exactly to my fathers liking-lots of char sizzling plate, herbs, and butter. Yummy! The staff even surprised him with a cheesecake for his birthday!!! They were all so wonderful, professional, and helpful. My father has added it to his short list of favorite places. For those searching the new location, it is best to drive around the block off the caratara, From Ajijic turn left after the Brunos sign, then left again and park. Happy steak night!!

We had impeccable service. Not just from our waiter, everyonewhoworked there was friendly and helpful. Beer was ice cold and served in frosted mugs. The food was very good, though not quite 5 stars, like the service. Atmosphere was okay and will probably improve once renovations are completed. We did not care for the music genre but it was low key and in the background, which helped. All in all it was a nice experience for a special celebration.
Cheryl W — Google review
Our steaks were cooked exactly as we ordered. The server stayed after bringing them to the table to check if they were cooked to our satisfaction. They were! That was a nice touch Tthey also sprayed areas of the restaurant to keep the flies away and it worked. We ate dinner without any flies, which was great because at this time of year, it is a problem. Highly recommend this restaurant. And we understand they are working on a more comfortable entrance on the front side of the restaurant to be done soon..

If you want the perfect steak and amazing service, look no further. Bruno's is a world-class steakhouse tucked away in the village of Ajijic. I always order the Baseball filet, and my wife has either the salmon or the shrimp. Both entrees come with an excellent baked potatoe and corn, but we always manage to fit in a few bites of their amazing mac & cheese and delicious creamed spinach. Finally, we split a slice of warm apple pie a-la-mode. And, we never leave without our to-go boxes! Yum, repeated! (You can have a complete steak dinner at Bruno's for as little as $18/US.)
E M — Google review
Went to Bruno’s to celebrate my Birthday tonight. When we got there we were informed that there were no Porterhouse steaks available (my reason for choosing Bruno’s for the occasion)unless we reserved ahead. Unfortunately we did not know of this requirement so reluctantly ordered rib eyes. They were prepared to our liking but very fatty. When it came time to pay the bill we were informed that we could pay for the meal with a credit card but that the tip must be paid with cash only. Hopefully this review will help others avoid the disappointment that we experienced at this establishment.

Located in the heart of Ajijic, Go Bistro offers a delightful dining experience with its great food and charming ambiance. The restaurant is known for its attentive service and even features live music on select days. With a varied menu, Go Bistro provides an array of delectable dishes to satisfy diverse palates. Whether you're craving Mediterranean, Cajun, German-Austrian, or Arabic cuisine, this bistro has something for everyone.
This was by far the best meal we ate in Ajijic! From the quality of all of the ingredients, the artistic plating of the food, the flavor of everything we ate and efficient and friendly service, this was definitely a meal to be enjoyed! I had a vegetarian dish with crispy tofu and a wonderful sauce that I loved! The tofu was literally the best I've ever had! I even told the owner I have never had such crispy on the outside, creamy in the middle, non-oily, flavorful tofu even without the sauce! Also on the plate were vegetables and mashed potatoes. The potatoes were creamy and buttery! Enjoyed the entire meal from the steamed dumpling appetizer, refreshing cold soup, the crispy, fresh salad, main entre, and finally the desert. The menu is so full of incredible offerings that it's hard not to make it a five course or more dining experience! Another impressive thing about Go Bistro is that it is in a small village in Mexico! The quality of the food, the staff out front and back in the kitchen would make you think you were in a big city where ingredients for the meals were easier to find and professional staff easier to hire. The international menu with the local influences made this an extremely memorable meal! It's now 4 days later and I'm back home in California, and writing this review is making me hungry for the meal we had there again!

Janet A — Google review
Another fantastic experience here! Great interactions with the most active restaurant owner I've met. I'd asked for something spicy and he suggested a tamarind margarita, which was great, much better than the raspberry margarita (too tart for my taste). Both the cold and hot soups were outstanding, really enjoyed how "spicy" the cold ginger soup was. Mussels were delicious, very large. Smoked rainbow trout was very nice with a little salad. Thai chili wraps were super good and vegetarian. Pike was great again. Fantastic experience from beginning to end. Maybe the nicest atmosphere I've dined at in Ajijic; go bistro has numerous different dining "rooms", one in a library, one in a very gardeny patio, some inside, some outside. The owner was very friendly and informative about the establishment and food. The music, violin and guitar were very nice, we especially enjoyed the Norwegian Wood cover. And now, the actual food and drink! The dirty martini (gin) was one of the best I've had, the cream of sweet pepper soup was fantastic, and the cheese board was nice. The Croatian sauteed shrimp and northern pike filet were delicious, I'd not had pike before and it was very delicate and flavorful. Even the sides were ideal, with some perfectly seasoned and cooked vegetables and rice that even I enjoyed. We also got the chocolate peanut butter mousse which was incredibly decadent, the raspberry cheesecake which was a delight but perhaps the least exotic of our dishes, and the english Christmas pudding which was quite an interesting surprise. I definitely plan on returning; with their weekly rotating menu and diverse dining settings, this would be a great spot to routinely have a unique dining adventure.

First visit in 3 years of living Lakeside and we’ve been missing a really good restaurant! The food, service and atmosphere were very good. It was Italian Week 🇮🇹 and had the North Pike - which I was told is always on the menu - and grilled asparagus and grilled tofu (outstanding!). Overall, the food was good, but not outstanding, and all of the aspects aside from the food left something to be desired. I would go back if someone else wanted to, but wouldn't suggest it myself. The seafood soup was very good, we all preferred it to everything else we ordered, once it finally came out, quite a bit after we had eaten everything else to the point I thought maybe they had forgotten about it. All of the shrimp we had was very good, the grilled monkfish was interesting, quite moist, but maybe not as flavorful as I was hoping for (perhaps the garlic sauce was a poor choice). The side options we ordered (sweet salad, galacian potatoes, grilled peppers, and ratatouille) were all quite good. The warm mediterranean salad was quite nice. The chocolate truffles were good but would have been much better with some ice cream (they were covered is some sort of cocoa powder which was great, but really dried your mouth out) Nice outdoor setting, but with less attention to detail than you'd find at similar restaurants. Things like very little outdoor lighting to the point that my parents couldn't easily see to eat, that sort of thing. Candles or Christmas lights in the trees would have made a huge difference. Even before it was actually night time, it was dark enough that I had to use my flash to get the food photos. Service was ... indifferent? There was only one waiter, we seated ourselves with no one taking our temperature or anything (our waiter did have his mask on while dealing with us but I don't know that I saw the kitchen staff wearing any). He never asked if we wanted more drinks when ours were empty, or really made any sort of conversation other than repeating our orders to us. He was polite and did get the things we asked though. I was not impressed with the margarita, but the michelada was slightly better.

Blue Rose Bistro is a charming restaurant located on the mountainside just west of Ajijic. It is a popular Mexican chain restaurant in the area, offering casual dining with a diverse menu. The bistro provides a cozy atmosphere and is well-regarded by locals and visitors alike. With its picturesque setting and positive reviews, it's an ideal spot for those seeking delicious meals in a relaxed environment.
Perfect right from the beginning; we were greeted warmly, seated promptly, drinks arrived exactly as ordered and they were beautifully presented...Pink Lady and a Cucumber Margarita. The serving staff were lovely and the food was good. The Beef Filet Grilled Cheese Sandwich was very tasty if a bit messy. If the quality of the thinly sliced filet is any indication of their steak items, I'm in! Fries were small, crispy and well-seasoned. The Shrimp in Lettuce Cups was very tasty but also messy...odd lettuce leaves for such a dish as they didn't 'fold' well; it worked better chopped and enjoyed as a salad. Both above orders, two Pink Ladies and a Coffee Americana cost 670 pesos + tip.

Tastefully decorated and featuring indoor and outdoor seating, it's long been considered on of the best steak joints in the area. And it lives up to its reputation... Service is super friendly and helpful, and the food is frankly excellent. Pro-Tip: The Devilled Eggs are off the chain.

Last night we went to the Blue Rose Bistro. We were greeted by a very attentive staff. I started with the Beet and Mezcal Margarita and also had the Cucumber Margarita. We had the Walnut shrimp which were delicious..and who doesn't like deviled Eggs..Theirs were artistic and Delicious. I had the Cucumber soup which is served cold and very frothy so it's very light and refreshing. Its served with a garnish of Avocado and Cucumber with a EVOO Drizzle. I will start by saying..I do not like filet as a steak..But theirs was delicious. I Got the Bleu Cheese with Shrimp. The Bleu Cheese made it richer and more flavourful. The shrimp were Delicious almost crisp..and seasond so perfect.. it was a perfect dinner. The Owner came over to introduce herself which is always nice. Service by a very sweet and attentive young lady is what brought this to a four star. For the price the meals were only ok. The space is on the cold looking side for our taste. The front facade doors are very attractive, and helped. The Spanish coffees we ordered were the worst I had ever had. They were ice cold, even though they arrived almost immediately after ordering. I am not exaggerating about the cold.

With a reputation for having one of the cleanest and best-run kitchens in Ajijic, Gosha's offers a wide selection of well-crafted dinner entrees, including tasty sandwiches and lunch choices.
The food is very good and the waitstaff very attentive. We’ve been there many times over the years for breakfasts, lunches and dinners and always enjoyed it. Plenty of choices on the menu, plus they now have pizza.

Relaxing, pleasant dinner with family. Friendliest service, attentive and efficient. Food was served hot and tasty. Great mocha cake for dessert. Music in background, not too loud. Nice evening overall.

Excellent lunch spot, great service Gosha's is one of those lunchtime restaurants that serves consistently good food, no matter when you happen to visit. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, service is prompt and professional, and prices are fair. Food is of decent quality, with good-sized portions. Pro-Tip: Fridays are "Polish" days, with various Polish specialties available. So if you have a hankering for potato pancakes or Pierogi, that's your chance.

Breakfast was included at all of the hotels we stayed in, but we were in the mood for something different, like a more traditional USA style breakfast, and we found it here. Helen's Bacon, eggs, home fries and pancakes was exactly what you'd expect to get at a traditional NOB restaurant. I had the "beef tenderloin" steak and eggs. Since it wasn't a centercut, I guess they didn't want to call it a Filet Mignon, but it was every bit as good as a filet from a good steak house. Excellent customer service from our young, enthusiastic, fully bi-lingual server. Excellent in flavor and food quality and top notch service. With coffee and juice, about $19 US at today's higher exchange rates. I'll certainly return.

Enjoyed Friday brunch with my daughter here today! The wait was less than five minutes the hostess showed us to our table I asked for another table and they were very accommodating. I appreciate that since this was my first visit. The music selection was on point. Our server Daijah was phenomenal! Loved her vibe and she gave us great recommendations and I went her on the grapefruit margarita which was delicious and refreshing! I had the salmon cakes, eggs scrambled with cheese and jalapeño cheese grits! Those grits hit on everything! My daughter had the fried fish and grits which came with hot honey sauce (chef’s kiss)! And don’t get me started on those biscuits…yes, they are better than my momma’s!

Lobo de Mar is a popular restaurant in Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico. It's a favorite among locals and visitors alike. The place is known for its delicious seafood dishes and vibrant atmosphere. Reservations are highly recommended as it tends to get busy. If you're looking for a top-notch dining experience in Ajijic, Lobo de Mar is definitely worth checking out.

Decent food, nice atmosphere, prices on the high side. Set back from the main road, a few blocks east of Ajijic Plaza, Lobo de Mar is a charming little courtyard restaurant with bagfuls of atmosphere. The food here is of good quality and presented nicely, and service is ok. But for all this, the prices are somewhat on the high side when compared to other local restaurants of this type and the menu is limited, to say the least. Overall, I can think of a handful of places around here I'm more likely to go when looking for lunch in this type of setting.

Casa Domenech is a restaurant that offers an all-you-can-eat enchilada special on Saturdays. Many customers believe these enchiladas are the best they have ever tasted. The salsa verde is particularly memorable and leaves a lasting impression. The ambiance and staff are pleasant, although the live music can sometimes be too loud for comfort. Despite slightly smaller portion sizes, the food is delicious, especially the onion soup which is simple yet flavorful.
We love going here for live music. It is so fun. Intimate setting, great vibe. I also really appreciate that they always have a vegetarian option.
Christina B — Google review
Edit for 2023: Since moving out of its "Lake Chapala Society" setting, Casa Domenech has undergone a massive improvement. Its tiny backstreet setting has added an element of intimate atmosphere that the previous premises simply could not achieve. The food is now excellent, though the prices are still on the high side. But what really sets this little restaurant apart is its live music, which is ecelectic, and off the beaten path of the local music scene. Original 2021 Review: Fantastic atmosphere, great music, good service, mediocre food A small restaurant, seating around 40 covers, Casa Demenech came highly recommended and scored on every single level but the most important one. The atmosphere, welcome, and its setting within Lake Chapala Society's beautiful gardens are excellent, and the service quite good. Music was laid on to entertain diners, and again this was excellent. When it came to the food itself, things started to get shaky. To be fair, the gaspacho appetizer was actually quite good, though the portion was exceedingly small. It got even worse with the Teppanyaki Chicken, which was basically a sticky grey mass of rice with a few pieces of chicken concealed among the grains, and a flavor straight out of a sachet. It's a shame really, because this restaurant could truly be something special.
Sasch M — Google review
Best dining experience I have had in Ajijic, hands down. Dinner started with a gazpacho, which trust me, you need to try. We were licking the dish. I ordered the shrimp with mole, with black rice. So delish! I would eat this every day if I could. My husband had a spinach salad with prosciutto and peaches—unbelievable flavor. Dessert was a chocolate crepe, I’ll be dreaming about it tonight. We will be back!
Stephanie E — Google review
Nice atmosphere and staff, live music was cool but much too loud for my ears, but if course I said nothing because who challenges the status quo these days? The portion sizes are a little smaller than usual but the food is good. The menu doesn't have a ton of variety, I could see myself exhausting all the interesting options quite easily should I frequent the place. The onion soup was simple but good.
Jonathan H — Google review
After our first drinks we, a party of about 8, (the place seats about 20) had to go to the kitchen to get another round. All night. The "service" was non existent. The "food" was tasteless at best. The music was too loud for the small space.

What a remarkable experience at Restaurant Bar Manix! The atmosphere was lively, with an exceptional mariachi band and a manager who made it truly unforgettable. The dishes were outstanding, surpassing not only Ajijic but all others I've had. The fish florentine was superb, accompanied by spinach, baked potatoes, vegetables, and a delightful corn souffle dessert. The vegetable lasagna came with an exquisite salad and ranked among the finest lasagnas I've ever tasted.
Delicious 😋 Always quality food. Service great and such mice people who like their job. Hector came around to meet each table after he helped serve. The restaurant will move just a few blocks west on the carreterra in the future. Good news!

Our first meal in Ajijic, Mexico, and it was muy delicioso! We both ordered seafood linguini and were pleasantly surprised to discover it also came with carrot soup, which we’d never had…it was amazing…and some really good sour dough bread, and a dessert we’d never heard of. All was excellent! Our server, Larry, was very nice and efficient and we enjoyed visiting with him. It was a most relaxing meal after flying all day.
Renee L — Google review
Wow, what an experience! We thought there might be live music but there was the most lively mariachi band I've ever seen, between them and the manager, it was an unforgettable experience. And that just set the tone for everything else. All of us thought our dishes were the best one of those we'd had, not just in Ajijic but period. The fish florentine was fantastic, with spinach, baked potatoes, vegetables and a dessert like corn souffle. The vegetable lasagna came with a delicious salad, and was definitely one of the best lasagnas I've had. The margaritas were good, the bloody mary better, and the tequila that was freely flowing certainly didn't hurt. The desserts (ice cream with chocolate covered strawberries) was also delicious.
Dylan M — Google review
This place seemed funky with the seemingly part Italian, part Mexican menu, so we weren't sure what to expect. The food was DELICIOUS. stuffed mushroom appetizers and cheesy toast with salsa/guac were a great start. The toast was like a Mexican bruschetta, which may sound weird, but again, so good. The wine pours are HEAVY. Dinner was a veal + fettuccini Alfredo and shrimp cooked in garlic butter with a giant potato, corn bread (but cake like, not dry) and a salad. Go on a week night to get a table easily! Staff was very attentive.

I ordered the rice plate with cabbage slaw, and chicken. The cabbage slaw consisted of very few shreds of carrots and cabbage. The portion of chicken was very small but tasty. For what I got I feel it was overpriced and I will not return. There are so many restaurant to choose from in Ajijic.

What type of Vietnamese restaurant doesn’t serve Pho? It is a Friday only special. The Vietnamese egg rolls came with no greens or lettuce to wrap. I asked for soy sauce and told they only had fish sauce. Two of us had Bun (cold noodles) with sliced pork. It was okay but lacking fresh crunchy veggies. Wife had a chicken noodle soup, just ok, Mexican pasta linguini noodles, no vegetable garnish was provided. Ordered 2 Vietnamese Ice coffees and a hot green tea. The coffee was not strong and not very sweet. I’m a regular lover of Pho and Vietnamese cuisine but Definitely won’t return here.

Great little stripmall Chinese restaurant While Chopsticks may not win any awards for dining ambiance, the restaurant scores points where it matters. The food on offer is quite tasty and the service is friendly and prompt. Prices too, are exceedingly fair. I'll be coming back here for lunch, regularly. Pro-Tip: Tuesday is Dim Sum day. Check it out.

Chopsticks restaurant is a Lakeside gem, providing high quality vietnamese, chinese, and hawaiian dishes that can be hard to find outside of large cities with international populations. Weekly specials include chicken and beef pho (noodle soup), dim sum, and wonton soup. The everyday menu includes bun (salad with vermicelli and meat), a selection of poké rice bowls, bahn mi sandwiches with salad, and rice with salad and meat. Protein choices include chicken, pork, beef, shrimp, surimi (fish made to resemble crab), and tofu. Everything on the menu is delicious, and is prepared in a remarkably consistent manner. Owner Betty does much of the prep work and baking herself, and the crew works like a well-maintained machine. Both English and Spanish are spoken. For people with room for dessert there's homemade pie (coffeecake on Fridays) - and there's a wide selection of ice creams, some sugar-free. Located in the bottom level of the Plaza Bugambilias shopping center in Ajijic, in the same building as the El Toro supermarket and Scallion restaurant.

Based on the reviews I would have thought this place would be pretty good. We got takeout and it wasn't all that great. Not only did the restaurant ignore the notes section but they also ignored the allergy information. The food itself also lacked flavor. Looked like clean good though and the portion size was good. The cost wasn't the worst but wasn't inexpensive, especially considering we couldn't eat one of the dishes because they ignored allergy information.

Nice little restaurant. Good food, great service While it doesn't serve the most authentic Thai food in the universe, Tepetate nevertheless delivers tasty meals in a small, intimate setting. Service is attentive and welcoming, and prices are fair, making this a great place to grab a quick bite.

The food is cooked fresh and comes to your table nice and hot. The proportions are generous and the food us very flavorful. They bring two small dishes which you can add of flavoring, and one is very spicy (hot) and the other is soy sauce. A great place to eat.

Tepetate Pian Thai, on Hidalgo Street, is one of my very favorite restaurants in Ajijic. Even though I tell myself each time I go, that I will order something new, I continue to order their Drunken Noodle with shrimp, which is awesome. I must also say that they have the *best Piña Coladas* in all of Ajijic -- and I've tried an awful lot of them! I especially enjoy sitting on the 2nd floor lanai, where waiter Rufino takes excellent care of his guests. I'm currently staying in ajijic at casa del sol. I walked down tonight to get 2 pizzas..a pepperoni bacon for me and a 3 cheese for My Mom. The young lady out front was English speaking very friendly. Pizzas took about 15 minutes with a brick oven in the kitchen. My pizza was excellent..but ok I'm a pizza lover..but the best compliment was from my mom who is just so so when it comes to pizza if she eats pizza 3 times a year she's happy. She said she thought it was the best pizza she had ever had. I tasted it..and I have to say the mix of cheeses was wonderful and the sauce and crust on both were wonderful..really perfect pizzas. I would highly recommend their pizza..and I'm the type I can eat pizza twice a week..thank you for a wonderful pizza.. EDIT..June 7 we tried the Shrimp pizza..wow!! What a great flavor..don't let the description scare you.. its a regular pizza with deliciously seasoned diced shrimp all over the top.. we got delivery tonight was super fast about 25 mins.

My wife and I do not agree on the type of pizza we both like, so we were very happy to find they would do half and half pizza. The next time we eat here we will ask for extra sauce, our pizza was dry by our standards. Over all, they make a good pizza, we will be back:)

Our first experience at this restaurant will absolutely be our last. We went with a party of 12 on a reservation made a week in advance. We were the only diners in the restaurant but still the staff was unable to provide adequate service. It took us from 1:00 p.m., our arrival time until almost 3:00 to get any food and only 1 drink during that time as the meager staff was in the kitchen cooking??? There were no snacks or bread or buns to nibble on while waiting, the chicken breast I ordered I was told would take over an hour to cook and would I be okay with a chicken leg instead? I agreed and after more than two hours was served a small piece of chicken, extremely cold veggies and cold potatoes, no reduction in the extremely high prices for the small chicken leg, still no bread or buns and no apologies for the wait. The rest of our party had similar or worse problems and although I realize the staff was short staffed today that cannot even attempt to explain the lack of service, the poor food service and extremely high prices for both food and beverages. I would not under any circumstances recommend eating at this restaurant.

The primary reason for us selecting this restaurant was their advertisement of a variety of wines, their varied menu and their nightly entertainment. While the food was good and our waitress was very attentive we were extremely disappointed with the overall management of the restaurant. We reserved a table in advance that was not available when we arrived, we ordered a glass of white wine (described as Chardonnay from Spain) which tasted ‘bad’ as it had been poured from a litre bottle of Kirkland wine that had been opened and was less than 1/2 full and last but not least the evening entertainment did not appear with no indication to us that it had been cancelled. (Even tho we spoke about the entertainment with them when we arrived for our dinner 25 minutes before). It was only when we got up to leave that the owner came to speak with us (even though we had made an earlier request to speak with him). Needless to say this dining experience was certainly not what we were hoping for…..

We were hungry and Oui Oui was one of the only places open and ready to serve us. Overall the meal was a bit pricey for frozen vegetables and Brie on lifeless dough and canned tuna on a sprig of flaccid romaine. Didn’t meet my expectations for French cuisine, but hey, I wasn’t anywhere close to France. The staff seemed a bit forlorn, as though they’d rather be anywhere else. Ambiance was decent. Nice lighting and flora. The musician, a northern American fella did some innovative covers of tween 80’s pop.

Lunch with a Friday lunch group 6 people. Restaurant opens at 1 PM. I had the seafood patella. A margarita and a glass of Cabernet. Staff is lite, owner and 1 server. We were the only group in the restaurant while we were there. The food was good. Beautiful garden. This restaurant is only open 3 days a week. Friday, Saturday, & Sunday. Spanish food. Bottom line, one of the few if any other Spanish Restaurants in Lakeside.

Made reservations for 4 people requesting 2 Paella dishes, mixed and seafood. The service was excellent and food was the best. The owner introduced herself and made us feel very comfortable and welcome. The wine and margarita were great. There was also a solo guitarist that sang English and Mexican songs that were very pleasant and added to the great ambiance. Thank you for a memorable experience and a lovely evening.I feel compelled to repeat, the food was the best, we will return.

This restaraunt was suggested by a friend, WOW the Paella ( mixed) was Fantastic. They had music the night we were there. (saturday) Not too loud and very enjoyable. We will go again but it will be hard to try anything else on the menu as we liked the Paella so much. Flavorful yet not over powering.

Our first visit with a small group of friends was very enjoyable for dinner. We had a delicious asparagus soup on the very pretty patio and some tasty paella, a specialty. The service was first class, the sangria was good and the prices were fair. We enjoyed our visit and will return. Recommend.

A basic affordable guesthouse. The owner is helpful. I recommend for basic accommodations.
Mark J — Google review
It has several inner courtyards with seating. Plenty of space between tables. The serving staff all had masks on the entire time. We had mussels with vinegar, fried eggplant with honey, bass that was lightly pan fried, paella with seafood. All of the food was well prepared and tasted delicious. The service was also very good. We will be returning. I recommend that you give it a try!

Hacienda De Don Pedro En Ajijic is a delightful dining destination that captures the essence of Mexican cuisine with its unique offerings. Located conveniently on the highway in West Ajijic, this charming restaurant will be open for special holiday hours, serving both their regular menu and festive dinners on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Guests rave about the attentive service and timely delivery of meals, ensuring a seamless dining experience.
We have been coming here for the last six years. We have seen it's ups and downs. Last night it was excellent. There was 16 of us who came here for a birthday party. The service was excellent. Drinks were served and refilled in a timely manner. Food was brought out all at the same time. Meals were hot. I didn't hear one complaint. I had salmon which was done perfectly. The unique feature of Don Pedro is its menu. Rabbit and quail are the two items that stand out on the menu. We had a good time and we will be back!

Great atmosphere. Excellent coconut shrimp and Argentinean empanadas. Mediocre chamorro. Service a little inept. Overall I quite like this place and I'll definitely try it again. However, things were a little shaky on the first visit. While most of the meal was frankly excellent, the chamorro arrived still partially frozen in the center. Our waiter was also clearly new, so the somewhat sloppy service can be excused. Prices are a little on the high side, which is OK, given the standard of the shrimp and empanadas, not so much the chamorro. That said, I'll give this place another shot in the next few weeks. We'll see how it goes.

An awesome breakfast. For 100 pesos you get coffee, fruit plate, pastry and a choice from 9 entrees. I've had the Chilaquilas now 3 times. This is enough food for two. Great fresh ingredients. Excellent service. Very clean bathrooms. Dinner menu looks incredible. I will be back for the quality. A must visit on you restaurant tour!!

Birthday celebration and we were spoiled. Friends had the shrimp and beef skewers and absolutely loved than, hubby and friend shared the mixed molcahete and it was awesome, I had whole fish and was extremely happy with it. The service is wonderful, friendly and attentive but discrete.
Rosalind P — Google review
This was our first visit and we were impressed by the variety on the menu and the delicious food. We had a large Sunday lunch and enjoyed it thoroughly. It's a tad pricey as far as Ajijic restaurants go, but still an excellent value! There were a couple of snafus- had to ask for a second cup of coffee and the credit card machine wasn't working. Not a big deal. We'll be back!
Barbara H — Google review
I like this place but sadly all three of us got food poisoning. I suspect it was the chips and salsa, maybe it was made with tap water (?). The steak and shrimp skewers tasted fine. I would give them another try but I don't want to risk getting sick again.
Robert M — Google review
Staff make us feel like family when we visit. We have favorite dishes and we have yet to be disappointed with the food or the service. Don Pedro's is one of our first choices when we go out to dine :)
Carol Y — Google review
Don Pedro's is of the treasures of Ajijic. We love to come on Tuesdays and Thursdays when (if you make a reservation ahead of time) you can get complimentary drinks with your entree. The last Friday of every month is half off your whole check. Our favorite dishes are the Garlic Mushrooms (Champiñones al Ajillo), Chicken Fajitas, and Roman Chicken (Pollo Romano). It's a must-try restaurant in Ajijic, one of our personal favorites.

If you're on the hunt for a cozy spot to enjoy a delightful brunch, look no further than Mom's Deli and Restaurant. This charming eatery offers a warm atmosphere where friendly staff members ensure you feel right at home. With quick service and delicious offerings like their rich Eggs Benedict paired with mouthwatering biscuits and sausage gravy, every bite is sure to satisfy your cravings. The menu boasts an array of comfort food favorites, including excellent omelets and homemade biscuits that are simply irresistible.
We went to Mom's for brunch the other day. Our wait was about 6 minutes. Our server was very friendly and super attentive. Drinks came very fast and even another young gentleman checked on us. I splurged and got Eggs Benedict and a side of their AMAZING Biscuits and Sausage gravy. Both dishes were very good. Sausage gravy was rich, filled with sausage and delicious. Before leaving we got Mom her favorite soup as the have alot of very high quality to go items which include a Curried Pumpkin soup which is my Mom's favorite. They Chicken corn shower and Chicken chili are both fabulous. Id definitely recommend this place. Thanks and eat well.. Fred Tolodziecki

Pretty darn good. Omlettes are excellent, homemade biscuits are wonderfull and the pineapple jam, a nice change. Bottomless coffee is very good. The only downfall were the 'home fries'. I'm sure they were frozen and a surprise for this place. Also check out their prepared foods for taking home!
William H — Google review
Really good 'comfort' food here. The staff is great and bilingual but the food is what you come for. The breakfast biscuits and lunch specials are hard to beat. Service is fast and friendly!
Billy B — Google review
So good! Mom and I went for breakfast. She had the Biscuits and Gravy with eggs and I had the Corned Beef Hash with eggs. We also purchased chicken salad and quiche. Definitely worth a return trip!
Fay O — Google review
Terrible service. After politely complaining about one dish, the owner asked us to leave the restaurant and told us that we were not welcome anymore. Ridiculous service. Owners are a joke. There are better options in the Riviera, avoid this place.
Santiago V — Google review
Great staff, so helpful and friendly. The food is hot and delicious. Restaurant is very clean. The scones look delicious unfortunately they all were made with nuts. Would be interested in purchasing some should they omit nuts. It took us 3 years to find this restaurant. A sign outside could improve business.

The food was very good, though my blitz (sp?) was a little too sweet. We waited aodt 40 minutes after ordering, but the place was packed. Ambience is not a priority, but it was cool thanks to the ceiling fans. Price was reasonable given the rising costs and strength of the peso.

Nestled in the vibrant streets of Ajijic, Merendero Lake Burgers is a delightful corner eatery that captures the essence of local life. Just a short stroll from the Malecon, this charming spot offers an inviting atmosphere where you can savor juicy burgers piled high with fresh toppings. The Jalisco burger stands out, especially with its unique bison meat option.
Really excellent burgers. The waitresses were hanging out in the window with a big smile. They said: "If you don't like them, you don't pay them"! But... we dud pay them with a lit of satisfaction! Exquisite!
Patrick N — Google review
I had the classic, which came with bacon, lettuce, onion, tomato, fries and jalapeno and pickles on the side. The burger was good but the fries were too salty for me. Service was friendly and fast. It's a hamburger joint so no frills but we'll worth a visit if you're in the mood for a hamburger!
John S — Google review
Right in the heart of Ajijic Merendero is loaded with ambiance, spirits, and flavor. Try thr agua de coco con tequila. Gracias!
Joshua M — Google review
Mercedes has terrific vegetarian tacos Dorado (crisp), potato or bean fillings and several salsas to put on. The atmosphere is lovely since it's on lake chapala's malecon and it has a lively Vibe and plenty of nice seating in the shade. Right next door is a wonderful place to buy beer cocktails and liquor as well as anything non-alcoholic. Since it's outside it is dog friendly and has great prices. It is dog friendly as well as kid friendly and usually on weekdays there's plenty of parking nearby on the street however on weekends you might have to drive a couple blocks and walk but it's totally worth it
Jackspace — Google review
We really enjoyed our burgers here last night for dinner. We were asked how we wanted them done, medium, or well done and we asked for well done and they were cooked just right. Burgers were tasty and juicy with herb buns. Just the right amount of fries which were good as well. Servers were attentive and friendly. We will be back!
Gayle W — Google review
Good hamburger but a little expensive. The beers were not cold though and the music was a little loud.
Matthew P — Google review
Overpriced. Indifferent Service. Food is OK, but doesn't live up to the hype by any stretch of anyone's imagination. Meh... Not coming back in a hurry...
Sasch M — Google review
Mescal margarita was fantastic, normal margarita and mojito were good too. Great selection of craft beers for Mexico, even up to 10% ABV which seems pretty rare down here. We later came back and got a Cantarito (clay pot) with margarita in it, which was very large and good for $140 pesos. Crema de Portobello was pretty good as was Azteca sopa. Canapés de Camarones were tasty as well, basic just a whole shrimp on a little garlic bread. Hamburguesa de Camarones was delicious, a little spicy, on great bread, pretty much perfect. The boar hamburger was interesting as well, sort of tough meat. The Camarones Merendero was very strange, pecans, onions, shrimp, fries and this sort of alfredo-esque sauce. Good service and location.

Nestled in a charming sidestreet, Emma's Deli is a delightful little eatery that captures the essence of comfort food. With seating for around 30 guests, this cozy spot offers an inviting garden-like atmosphere perfect for enjoying their renowned Reubens on homemade rye or the delectable grilled chicken sandwich served on a fresh baguette. For those looking to explore beyond the classics, their Caesar salad topped with grilled chicken and hot dogs are also worth trying.
Delightful ambiance in a cool, shaded courtyard. Super service - thank you Daniel! The food was fresh, homemade and wonderful bread products made in house. Our favorite lunch Deli!

Excellent French Dip with Swiss cheese on a toasted baguette! The Reuben was excellent as well. Loved the cole slaw and potato salad! Service was exceptional! We bought sesame bagels to go and look forward to tasting them!

The food, service, and atmosphere are great. They would've gotten five stars but they added a 16% IVA to the bill, which is usually included in the prices at other restaurants. EDIT: I saved the bill and the subtotal is messed up. The total was correct, as Emma's Deli stated. I changed the review to FIVE STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I really liked eating at this restaurant. It has a garden like atmosphere in the exterior seating to the rear. The service was very prompt and everytime the wait staff passed they had eyes on each table to ensure that everything was attended to. The food was the best part of this place and lakeside their beef dip is the best and the crispy angle cut roll was perfect.

OMG you cannot go wrong at Emma's Deli. Everything is amazing. My favorite is tha mahtza ball soup and a reuben. My son loves the Chicago dog. Friends love the burgers. Generous portions, good service, outdoor seating. Emma's never leave us!!

I had the chicken Caesar salad and the Arnold Palmer. Both were very delicious and fresh. The service was great. I love their outdoor seating in the back...lovely.
Lisa M — Google review
Great food and great service. I would have given this venue all 5 stars except for the dog that incessantly barked next door. This is not the restaurant's issue, but it was distracting. Whenever I visit Emma's I always order a 6 pack bag of her fantastic sesame bagels to go. By far the best bagels you can buy in this area. Maybe all of Mexico, whose to say? If you like Jewish deli food, you won't be disappointed eating here.

Nestled just a couple of blocks from the main carretera in Ajijic, D’Shanti Restaurante is an upscale dining destination that promises a delightful culinary experience. With its inviting atmosphere and plush decor, this restaurant serves an impressive array of Italian and international dishes that are both beautifully presented and delicious. The attentive staff ensures that every guest feels welcomed, making it an ideal spot for special occasions or date nights.
The Restaurant is very Quiet and Beautifully located in a garden. I got the Duck Rolls which were very crisp and tasty with a Sweet Thai Chili based sauce. My main course was the Orange and Honey Shrimp which came with perfectly cooked Brown rice and Asparagus. Mom got the Fish in Saffron sauce which was a creamy based sauce with a nice fragrant Saffron Flavor. The Saffron was very prevalent and delicious. It was served with mixed vegetables and a Risotto which she said was Delicious. Our Friend Angie got the Salmon which is her favorite. I'm also posting a Menu as I couldn't find one on line anywhere. This was a very nice dinning experience and would recommend this for a nice romantic dinner out. Thanks Fred

We have lived here for a couple of years and wondering why we never found this place before. Upscale feeling restaurant on beautiful hotel grounds with the perfect background music for dining. Waiter was inexplicably hurried acting even though they're only a couple of tables to wait on. My pasta de la Mares was excellent and a mushroom dish for appetizer was perhaps the best we've ever had. The wife had pasta carbonara which also was great. Honorable mention you should go to the bread which was surprisingly good and as my mother always told me if the bread in a restaurant is good that's a great sign and it proved out in this case. Will be back soon.

Our experience at this restaurant was perfect. Don't listen to the negative reviews. I asked them about their special drinks, and tried two of them. They were terrific. We had two of their shrimp specials and also the filet mignon. All were wonderful. Service was excellent. Live music was also excellent. So far, this is our best restaurant experience in Ajijic. And the grounds were very scenic. Also beautiful grounds and interior.

Superb atmosphere. Great Service. Excellent Food. Located a couple of blocks from the main carretera, D'Shanti is an upscale eatery serving a fine selection of Italian and international dishes. The location and decor are comfortable and plush. Service is attentive, welcoming, and professional. Food is of high quality and presentation. Prices are a little higher than most of Ajijic's restaurants, but still fair given the quality of what's on offer. Highly recommended. Great date-night place.
