A truly beautiful tequila distillery nestled in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage site of Tequila. The tour we joined was incredibly informative, offering a clear understanding of the tequila distilling process, and we got to taste a variety of tequilas, which was a fantastic highlight.

We spent 4 hours at the Jose Cuervo distillery learning all about the distilling process, tasting different tequilas, learning how to drink tequila, blending our own tequila and, finally, lunch. Alfredo, our guide, also took us through Jose Cuervo's and tequila's history as well as the controls around the whole agave and tequila production process. A really good tour.

Brilliant! 100% don't miss!! So many sites on the internet say this place is only open certain days. If the review you read is more than 5 minutes old l, forget it. This town is evolving and distilleries like this are pretty much open everyday. Just show up and ask for a tour. I have been to Mexico about 20 times and my favorite thing is to visit small unique towns. Tequila is an incredible place if you want authentic Mexican culture, food, kind people, and good vibes. But this town has one extra thing, tequila!!! La Rojeña is where the José Cuervo magic happens. The tour is completely informative, explaining the tequila making process in detail, and at the end (if you pay the extra pesos for the tasting package, a MUST in my opinion) you get a view into tequila flavors and nuance that I never knew existed! Trust me, stop reading this review and just go there! The tasting at the end is amazing! It was absolutely brilliant! Our guide (sorry, can't remember her name) was perfect. At each stop, though the factory is loud, she had a mic connected to Bose speakers so you could hear every word (I did the English speaking tour). At the end you can buy special made tequilas at factory prices. Absolutely no pressure to buy, but a good deal all the same! I am fairly cynical when it comes to touristy things, this is a 100% don't miss!!!

Fun and informative tours! We did the classic plus the extra tasting. Our guide spoke great English, was incredibly knowledgeable, and fun to spend an hour with. You get to see quite a bit of the factory and drink 3 strong shots before even starting the tasting so be prepared to consume a good amount of tequila. Would recommend to a friend.

If you enjoy drinking low-quality, industrial tequila loaded with artificial additives, then this is the place for you! Otherwise, I strongly recommend visiting La Fortaleza, Cascahuín, or Casa Atanasio, just a few of the family-owned distilleries that still honor the true tradition of tequila making.

From the video at the beginning of the tour to the tasting at the end this experience was well worth the 400+ pesos we spent. Our guide was amazing! The tequila was palate changing. Would go again in a heart beat.

Superb little museum, if it's your first time to Tequila. Charting both the history of the Tequila as a drink and a region, the rooms surrounding its central courtyard walk the visitor through the journey from Agave to Añejo. Despite this being a small venue, there's quite a lot of information here, accompanied by a multitude of exhibits, so setting aside an hour to an hour and a half to tour the museum, would be a good idea.

This place is very touristy. Lots of people at the heart of the town called Tequila.

This was a highlight for us. Great history, information and art. We went in the middle of the day on a holiday and it was pretty quiet. Definitely worth the small entrance fee to wander through.

There is a lot of great information about the town, drink, and culture of Tequila. They had artwork as well as old bottles, tools, and distillery equipment. Definitely recommend stopping by while in town. It only takes about 45-60 minutes to walk through the museum.

I think the experience was ok. It would be better if the tour groups were split more evenly and you didn't have groups of 25+ with one guide. Hard to hear the guide at times. The tequila tasting was good and have a experience on how to drink tequila properly was fun.

The views and waterfalls are great, yet the path taking you there is pretty dangerous and confusing. In top of that, we had a random Mexican guy approach us and come with us down to the waterfall. Once we came back up, one of his friends was waiting on top with a couple dogs until we paid them $100/pers. This was a very dangerous experience.

Beautiful hidden place! Be prepared for a hike though. I recommend you bring mosquito repellent, sunscreen, water and if you’re up for a swim then a bathing suit! It’s like a 20min hike down and be careful it can get slippery! It can get pretty steep, since you pretty much are going down a canyon but the view is beautiful!

Great little waterfall with great cold water perfect for the heat. It’s about a 20 minute hike, it will get steep. Preferably no kids or older or handicapped people.

What a beautiful place. It's exactly what anyone needs when looking for relaxation away from the daily routine. The waterfall is breathtaking. Taking a dip and just feeling mother natures beauty take you in is quite an experience. If you have the time, the hike down is totally worth it. Make sure to bring the correct attire for the hike down and a bathing suit if you wanna take a dip in the water. It is quite a steep hike downwards so make sure to go with someone who knows their way. Completely worth it. Beautiful place.

It's not 15min to go down, so we kept asking how long was the hike and everyone kept saying 15min will It's not at least if it's your first time strongly recommend to carry lots of water some Gatorade and food other then that it's a beautiful place to go and relax

Beautiful hike to the waterfall passing by banana trees and mango trees. The hike is a bit strenuous and steep, and I did get lost a few times because the trail is not marked at all. But if you follow the sound of the waterfall you should be able to find it. It shouldn't take more than 30 mins to reach the waterfall unless you get REALLY lost. The water looked like it had some algae growing in it so I did not go swimming but I did dip my feet in and it was very cool and refreshing. Highly recommend to visit.

We had a tequila tour in English and there was only another couple with us so it was quite a private tour. We visited the guava field and watched how the plants get harvested. We visited the distillery and had some tequila shots. It was a good tour but for my taste the tour guide could have explained a little bit more or could have taken more care about us. During the drive to the field and back she didn’t talk to us at all and didn’t try to entertain us or give us some information about tequila. That’s why I only give 4 stars.

Beautiful old hacienda close to centre of the town of Tequila. Good off street parking across the road . Nice quiet gardens with the sound of Mexican music pumping into the serenity !

We discovered Casa Sauza by accident, and it was a fantastic experience. The grounds and garden are immaculate, and the ambiance is peaceful and serene. We felt and were treated like royalty by the staff, and the food and drinks were amazing. We started with house made salsa and chips, and I ordered a Sauza margarita rimmed with Tajin. Next, we ordered a tuna tartare dish and a wrapped tuna dish that touched every sensory signal on our taste buds. Lord willing, I will be back very soon. The next time, I will plan on spending two full days in this Pueblo Magico. I feel like we just touched the surface of this town, and there are many memories left to be made!

I was in Tequila, so I had to check this place out! My significant other and I walked here in anticipation for some tequila history! We walked past the entrance and the view made me instantly feel as if I was in a garden. It was quiet and calm. After that area, we ended up at Los Recuerdos De Sauza. We purchased the Perseverancia tour. The tour guide walked us to La Constancia for the first part of the tour. Once we arrived, we had to put on a helmet to enter the building. That was interesting. It was basically a large barrel room. We were told about the process and then given a sample of Sauza Blue Agave Hacienda Tequila Gold. I thought it was smooth and easy to handle. After we left, we headed not too far to “La Perseverancia”. This was where a lot of moving parts took place. It was interesting to absorb what went on here. We were given a sample of Sauza Blue Agave Hacienda Tequila Silver. This one brought some heat! It was strong, but casual and tasty. Our last thing to do was to make our own Cantarito. This was an exciting experience, especially since I’ve only had one Cantarito ever prior to this experience. The process was fun! The drink ended up being pretty good. I got to keep the cup, so that practically worked out as a souvenir for me! The tour guide was amazing and friendly! She explained everything thoroughly during the tour. Overall, this place was worth the stop for me. I enjoyed how things seemed to be spread out widely and that we had to walk a lot. I would love to come back here someday. Date of visit: 10/01/2024

We had the pleasure of going on their English tour. A lovely woman who taught us a bunch of the things about the making of tequila. I recommend this place! Make sure to grab a bottle or two after the tour, their tequila is great.

We had our lunch and I must say it is a beautiful place. You could take a stroll in their beautiful garden while your food comes. We did not do their tour but the experience in the restaurant was good . Service was slightly slow given that we had a time crunch for our tour.

Not only one of the most beautiful places to eat in Tequila but maybe all of Mexico. A hidden gem of a hacienda style restaurant with amazing service, food and ambiance. I highly recommended you visit here when in or near Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico.

We had so much fun walking around tequila. We bought three bottles of special tequila only made here with no additives. Then we went to Cantaritos El Guero and bought way too much tequila. Had a blast. Downtown Tequila feels like a more exciting San Miguel De Allende. Loved it. We will be back.

The Plaza Principal aka Main Plaza in the town of Tequila , Jalisco is such a lively place to hang out in. There are several stores, outside bars, restaurants, hotels & people enjoying the day and night. It is a great meeting place where people watching is key. They have performances to enjoy as well. What a great place to visit and enjoy tequila and the town. During the month of April they host an annual Tequila festival. Sounds like a great time.

On a family trip and did a tour with an operator for 300 pesos per person that took roughly 2 hours,went in a barrel on a drive along historic sites in the center and to a small agave farm and distillery tour. Then did the center walking around and the best thing was watching the locals do an Aztec dance where they throw themselves off the pole. It's a must when in the center.

It was just another beautiful experience in one of those pueblos magico in MX, What can I say , it was just so much good vibes , walking around the plaza and sipping our tequilas. There are so many street food , vendors and shows around that , time just flies checking everything out .

This is in the downtown of Tequila Jalisco... There are two prominent catholic churches next to each other. The downtown is dominated by the small stall selling survivors, local food and toys...

Beautiful church with many street markets surrounding selling souvenirs and lots of tequila, morning is very quiet and peaceful until the tours start and the afternoon gets busy and over crowded.

Beautiful church,got to visit last year. Santo Toribio remains are there. If you have a chance to visit this magical town please do,highly recommend it. Lots of things happening outside of the church. Familia gathering, vendors and great food just overall a great and peaceful atmosphere.

The history behind the construction of the church is very intriguing and the architecture is beautifully done specially knowing how back then they didn't have the type of technology we have now.

They have some very neat souvenirs,although; they do sell it twice to triple the price because it's right out of town. I do not recommend to buy liquor here yes it may be cheaper but it is watered down after I did some tastings it really upset my tummy I had to make sure it was the good stuff but it wasn't just purchase straight from the brewery or licenced vendors.

You will love this place and the most important is everything is cheap and nice family

I buy a 3 gallon of tequila

Absolute flop. Nothing was done right here… get people liquor’d in the morning and then put them through hours of boring tours. We left with half of our group about 2 hours in… Lunch was not until 2:30 PM… The factory is live and the workers literally have to stop while the tour is going on… The entire town is a tourist trap with wannabe gangster kids riding around on motorcycles. Would not recommend.

This is one of the places you will never forget, no matter how much tequila you drink :-) Super interesting tour inside, going through the years and the different phases of the production of the tequila. Organized in small groups, unknown people at the beginning but best friends forever after completing the tour tasting the different phases of this wonderful natural medicin called at the end of the process "Tequila".

Nice attraction to know the process behind the production of tequila. Tequila tasting is a must, very good and well explained, allows you to appreciate more of this exquisite drink. They currently have a reduced capacity and limited tours due to COVID measures.

A lovely restaurant with attentive, if somewhat over eager at times. The food did not match the expectation on our visit. The crab tacos were bland, the chicken breast with mole was so overcooked you could hardly cut it. The meat in juices (stew) was way too salty. Overall quite disappointing. Maybe we just chose badly since the cheese with tomatillo sauce appetiser was delicious. Not overly expensive, £40 for starters, mains and a couple of beers. Waiting staff tended to remove plates, or try to, before we'd finished, which seemed odd as the place was virtually empty. Can't really recommend but passable if your hungry.

The place is very calm and beautiful, they have air conditioning which complements well after a walk on the streets of Tequila on a sunny day. we ordered puntas de arrachera, puntas de pollo and tortas ahogadas. i felt that the price to taste for puntas de arrachera and puntas de pollo wasn't justifiable. The taste wasn't bad but was neither extremely outstanding or any different from nay normal restaurant. Tortas ahogadas tasted too tomatoey ans it wasn't that good at all, I would not order it again. something that really bothered me was how the waiters would occasionally come and peek at your table to check if anything was needed and that felt a little intrusive. It wasn't that busy and we could easily call someone if we needed something. The place is a bit pricey and the taste not that outstanding, hence the rating. But I did like the ambience a lot.

Posh dining area. Light air conditioning. Jumbo shrimps are very good, sauce slightly spicy and tangy. Tenderloin not as good, overcooked. Chicken breast too dry. Service is good, but will ask to tip for other staff/buddy as well who are supposed to be serving other tables.

Food is presented very beautifully. Although I would say that it’s pretty mid. Typical Mexican dishes, average taste. Wonderful atmosphere, waiters, attentive. I saw another post saying that the waiters were too attentive. I feel like it has to be with. Me Jikan culture, because really any restaurants you walk into. They’re very attentive. I had very high expectations for this place. It’s supposed to be the finest dining experience in the town of Tequila and the menu and the decor are excellent. The service was also supposedly good but after two times of my friend asking for his tacos without onions they kept bringing out the plate and he opened the tacos and there were onions. He was so frustrated he couldn’t even eat anything. They brought a bread to the table mid way through the meal and it had a hair on it. We sent it back. The good part: I had a good and generous portion of seafood pasta and the guacamole was good but also came with onions inside and the manager only offered a dessert. We refused it and i didn’t leave a tip and we left upset and unsatisfied. The management should be a lot more present. They were absent.

The oldest bar in tequila known for their famous batanga drink, highly recommend to check out in tequila just for the drink itself and I'm sure you will stay there for the atmosphere.

Must-visit in Tequila Town! Local watering hole with some of the best BATANGA's in town. The owner is a lovely gent, always up for a chat and can tell you amazing stories from the 80+years they have been open, it is the oldest bar in Tequilla.

My experience at the entire José Cuervo complex revealed the greed and arrogance with which this brand is managed. A sparse and uninspired museum where, on top of that, they have the audacity to charge you. The employees seem depressed, which I assume reflects the miserable corporate culture of this brand.

Most of the markets around Mexico are colorful and have great selection of dishes. The one in Tequila is a bit disappointing. Most of the fondas (restaurants) have the same dish and they are okay.I miss the variety and the light, this market is really dark and does need a good renovation.

When visiting the town of Tequila , Jalisco you have to stop by and visit Jose Cuervo. They have several different options as far as tastings and tours. We had the privilege of having the private tasting and then had the opportunity to go into one of the cellars for a real special tasting. They offer a very informative video showing the history of Jose Cuervo and the town of Tequila. They also have a museum and hotel there. We definitely plan on staying there on the next trip. Jose Cuervo is conveniently located right next to main plaza. Make sure you make this one of your stops in this beautiful town of Tequila.

If you have never been to a distillery tour you should go. Otherwise, the one at Fortaleza was better. Jose Cuervo is so industrial that you should watch every step for your safety and it's so loud that some of the tour guide's speech isn't heard. For samples they use little plastic cups unlike the glasses used in the other, smaller place. I also didn't care for the tequila which is certainly only a preference item.

I never thought that I would visit Tequila in my lifetime, and I'm very happy that I have. I love that that the Blue Agave and Tequila, and the town of Tequila ha e been recognized as part of our world heritage. The fellow who gave our tour was fun, knowledgeable, and multi-lingual.

This place is definitely worth the visit if you’re heading to this part of Mexico. The distillery is awesome, it’s amazing seeing and learning about how the agave gets processed and turned into tequila. The town centre is very vibrant with the Mexican coloured flags hung everywhere. There are some other very nice boutique shops on the town.

The history behind the making of Jose Cuervo tequila was an amazing experience to learn and see how its made. We did the basic tour but there are other tours available also. Our tour included the a history video to watch, tour of the process of making of there tequila, taste tequila, taste margaritas and make sure to bring your camera for great pictures. Such a great, funny and interesting Tequila Tour with Carlos! Good English as well. The tour in general is pretty unique and we liked it way better than the big tourist magnets like Jose Cuervo etc.

The tour was great. The restaurant was good. The ride in the barrel car was TERRIBLE. They drove us out there and left us saying it would be a while until they came back for us. Uber was out of cars so we were stuck for a while. Don't take the tour bus...just the tour. Get there yourself and save some money. The three stars was because there appears to be some relationship with the tour operator.

Went here several years ago and want to again next month.

Our experience at La Cata was amazing. My only regret is find them on our last night in Tequila. The staff is super friendly and helpful. We had Isis help us with our tequila tastings. She’s super knowledgeable and really guided us to the best of the best. The venue is clean and charming. The tastings generous. Highly recommend that you head upstairs and enjoy a tequila tasting with La Cata. We ended up buying 5 bottles to take home and they wrapped and delivered them to our hotel- very service oriented.

Definitely the best place we visited in Tequila. This is a great place for the spirits aficionado. It was exactly what we were looking for when visiting Tequila.We visited very beautiful and fun places, but they offered nothing more than what we can find at our local liquor store. At La Cata the service was outstanding and the tequilas we tasted were unique and delicious. We are definitely going back for more.

The town of Tequila is picturesque, it's people as friendly as they come. Amazing vibe!! We were there for a wedding and were pleased with our visit. The food at La Casona was delicious. Service at Hotel Solar de Las Animas was exceptional... the best we've experienced and we've travelled quite a bit. Ok, now about the Hacienda was great location for events. Beautiful gardens, statues and pathways. Elegant venue and a place for everything you may want in your event. Horse arena, dome open entertainment area, indoor and outdoor space for events.... breathtaking scenery!!

The jimador and tequila tasting tour was wonderful with Alex. It was a small group of 8 compared to 35 for the regular tour. The attention was exclusive and you get some tastings and some snacks after too!

Good experience.. they gave us several tequilas to taste from which was good to make good choices of the Anejo and silver tequila we bought. We went back a few months ago and now it’s a total tourist trap. We did not want to go in the front door as we have already did the tour they made us walk all the way around the block which was about .5 miles. So we tried to sit down they told us we could not sit there because there was groups coming. I said I just want to buy tequila and have a good experience again. They told us we need to give them a tip. To taste the tequila and decide what we wanted.. I explained we’ve been here before. Just gonna have a good time in this hot no fans no air circulation environment. The chicken a$$ waiter solicited a tip, and then he asked where we were from. I told him we were from Matamoros Mexico.. he scolded us for not tipping him. Before we left, we still bought several hundred dollars of tequila. A historic place were a river pours in to a natural hand wash stone washers. It still functions and the water is fresh but not drinkable. If you go part of the tour you will go here and then a tequila factory.
