Saint-François is a vibrant coastal town located on the southeastern tip of Grande-Terre, the main island of Guadeloupe in the Caribbean. Îlet du Gosier is a small, unspoiled island off the coast of Guadeloupe, accessible by boat. It's a significant tourist attraction with wading and snorkeling opportunities, a cafe-bar, and roaming chickens. The area also boasts the restored 18th-century Fort Fleur dEpee offering panoramic views. Visitors can enjoy warm local hospitality, Creole cuisine, and a vibrant arts scene that captures the rich multicultural heritage of Le Gosier.
One spectacular view offered by this wonderful island in the town centre of Gosier can be a good choice to spend a day on the beach or snorkelling at only couple minutes boating from Datcha digue.
Catalin L — Google review
Very nice wild beach, crowded in high season but it’s worth it. Bring something to drink and eat because the beach bar it’s expensive . You can arrive by boat (10/15min - 5$/€ with the return).
Andreea U — Google review
I think it is quite overrated. Forget the idea of an exclusive paradise island. There are a lot of people and the beach is quite small (you are almost walking onto each other to reach the sea). The first boat (9am) was 45 minutes late and the queue on the pier was obviously really long.
Marco B — Google review
A wonderful island to go spend the day with family and friends
Erwan C — Google review
Cute little island off of Gosier. There was a small pontoon boat that took us to and from the island for 5 Euro each. Not much to do on the island other than enjoy the beautiful beach. It can get a little crowded, so I would suggest going early. There is a small cafe that serves food and drink on the island near the dock. I would recommend it as a nice way to spend a few hours on the beach.
Melinda P — Google review
Nice beaches. Visited on a saturday. The island has a lighthouse and a few abandoned buildings. No toilets. Restaurant open for lunch. Boats to and from the island every 30 minutes at a price of 5 € there and back.
Mikaela B — Google review
Overrated. Very very crowded!!! Hard to find a decent square meter on the beach. 3/4 of the island is rocky and impracticable for swimming. Otherwise it’s a spectacular sand and coral pieces into the sea. It worth maybe one hour visit.
Beni G — Google review
Over crowdy.a lot of people even at 10a.m. The place is over rated. Many glass pieces on the island. The beach is very narrow and full of garbage..very dirty.we read all the positive reviews and saw the line-up for ferry.so we decided to go there too. A big disappointment. The colour of water is amazing but nothing else.

Haute French restaurant
Wine store
Located in St-Francois, Guadeloupe, Le Mabouya dans la Bouteille is a fine-dining restaurant known for its Franco-fusion cuisine. The owners, a French couple with previous experience in Parisian restaurants, have created a cozy and inviting open-air venue adorned with vintage corkscrews and other knickknacks.
I rarely give a 5 star to restaurants in the West Indies but this was a fab restaurant. The food was so good. There was nothing wrong with my experience, none whatsoever and I was so pleased we went on our last night in Guadeloupe as it left us with a beautiful taste literally speaking. The interior is so dreamy and romantic. I loved the colours and the chic French shabby decor. Good selection of wines. Fresh and tasty food- I couldn’t have asked for anything more. Staff were friendly and warm. It’s a nice cosy restaurant and you will need to reserve to stay there as it seems to be very popular both by locals and tourists. The wine goblets gave me the feels! They were super large and I loved drinking from them. Definitely worth a visit
June O — Google review
By far the very best restaurant I’ve been to in Guadeloupe. Food is incredible good and tasty. The catch of day excellent and the shrimp ravioli is from another world. Service was kind and attentive as well. One to recommend and come back!
Ricardo — Google review
One of the best places we have been in Guadelopue. The staff is friendly and surprisingly fast, the meals are excellent, the owner is recommending very good wine combinations with the food. We were here twice and the only thing that could be improved is the choice of the water. Purified water should be an option rather than bringing water from oversea and selling it for 5€ per bottle, but many places still do so. The fish in passion fruit souce was really good, the Tuna tartar and the scallops carpaccio were just excellent!
Giulio F — Google review
One of our favorite “Must Go” every time we visit Guadeloupe! The dishes are prepared at the highest levels with an extensive well sommelied wine cellar to complement the experience. One of the Best Restaurants on the Island
Sundeep M — Google review
Although the prices were a little high (wine was overpriced, in my opinion), the overall experience was excellent. Food was of great quality. Fresh, aesthetically pleasing, and quite delicious. Would definitely recommend visiting if in the area. One tip: make a reservation at least 24 hours in advance as the good restaurants in this city are completely booked by dinner time.
Ryan B — Google review
Good atmosphere, friendly staff, professional and welcoming The food is on point, price quality among the best that the island currently offers Everything is home made aside from smoked fish, drinks and icecream
Karim A — Google review
I don't review many places but I must take the time to talk about this restaurant. Sometimes it can be overwhelming to go to a nice French restaurant. The server and the owner could not be any more accommodating. They were patient, kind and so helpful and understood English and spoke it well. My French is terrible but they we're so kind. The lobster ravioli is amazing. The Tuna Tataki is the best dish I've ever had in my life. I also had the frozen nougat and I can die happy. I cannot recommend this place enough. Thank you and we will be coming back.
DC — Google review
My spouse and I thoroughly enjoyed an excellent French-Caribbean dinner at La Mabouya de la Bouteille recently. The atmosphere is casual yet refined, the dinner ingredients are fresh and local and the service outstanding. We were encouraged to take as much time as we wanted and never felt rushed. The chef created a vegetarian entree for my husband, which was delicious and nutritious. I had the catch of the day with a delicate sauce and delectable side dishes. There were many appetizing and skillfully prepared dishes on all the other tables, too. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want an individually prepared, inspired French-Carib dinner. The owner is especially welcoming and hospitable.

Guests can enjoy refreshing drinks such as smoothies and frozen rosé while lounging on bean bags or beach chairs right by the water.
Nice vibe to chill in the afternoon, cool service, the cocktails are simply amazing!! The food is good too, I recommend
Karel — Google review
Nice beach bar like atmosphere. Did not get a chance to properly eat here, only had some rilettes de poison to accompany the tea punch. Nice place to watch the sunset. Too bad they close at 7pm.
Cristinaki C — Google review
Food was meh. But the smoothie was really good. Nice options on the menu though. I had the egg benedict and i wouldn't have it again. Service was also questionable. The waiter brought me the wrong thing - Not was I ordered and it wasn't the wrong table he just didn't punch it right which it happens but still annoying as we had to catch a flight so I had was he brought me. Cute location by the beach. Not very comfortable but it does it, I found the restaurants options very limited in Guadeloupe.
V — Google review
Drinks are amazing (try smoothie, frozen rose) some of the best I've ever had. Food was very mediocre i recommend just getting drinks here. They have beam bags and beach chairs in the sun on the sand right by the ocean.. you can tan and drink!
Janine J — Google review
Great place, great food, very crowded all day long and great ambiance/vibe. If you're looking for a quiet place with your children, this is not the place. Some live bands often play there also on the weekends.

Grande-Terre, a hilly island in the Lesser Antilles, is a vibrant destination featuring lively cities, white-sand beaches, and stunning coral reefs. The eastern part of the island offers scenic views, the sounds of Zouk music, and unforgettable cuisine. Le Gosier, a popular beach town along the coast with picturesque mountain views of Basse-Terre in the distance, provides an ideal base for exploration.
I recently visited Grande Terre, and my trip was absolutely fantastic! A huge part of my enjoyable experience was thanks to the 'Guadeloup Travel Guide' by Antonio Bacca, which I purchased on Amazon. The guide provided invaluable insights, detailed maps, and helpful tips that made navigating and exploring Grande Terre so much easier. Highly recommend both the destination and the travel guide for anyone planning a visit!

This is the place of coloured houses, huts and palm trees on white sandy beaches. Between the three cities of Le Moule, Saint-Anne and Saint-François, there are places to visit and things to see and do for your whole trip.
Jessica P — Google review
Grande terre, what a place! Its forests, jungles, mountains, beaches. The warm natives, the roads twisting and winding to new sights and experiences. I preferred this part of Guadeloupe as the majority of the local population were not white and that for me is big and important. Their are great places to visit and wonderful people to make contact. Shame about all the tourists that just don't make the effort, they miss so much and give a really bad impression of themselves... Thank you grand terre we loved you.
Francis H — Google review
Guadeloupe consists of two main islands... Grande-Terre is more settled and a bit more touristy, while Basse-Terre is quieter (a lot of Basse-Terre is also national park). I recommend getting a car so you can see both regardless of which island you stay on. And take the ferries to the smaller islands too!
Bob A — Google review
In for a more authentic creole experience? Split your Guadeloupe holiday in half and tour Basse Terre. The roads, the forests, the communities are something else.

Restaurant
La Rhumerie du Pirate is a charming restaurant located on the rugged Atlantic coast in Saint Francois, offering stunning views of a wild, golden beach adorned with conch shells. The casual veranda-style dining rooms serve up delicious Creole dishes, including a special set menu featuring options named after the Guadeloupe islands. While service can be slow during busy times, guests can explore the beautiful beach while waiting for their meals.
One of the finest places to dine with a stunning view. We were 9 of us and every dish - starters and the mains were all outstanding. Try out specially the Ravioli of Lambie and the Mixed grill. Prices in Guadeloupe are generally steep but this was good value for money.
Pratik G — Google review
The view was great! The food was good. I guess it's very mainstream and a must-go place. Burger was average. Don't think I'll understand why they have spaghetti as decoration for every dish. Staff was alright.
Bowen L — Google review
We visited shortly after midday and it was busy. We visited because it is in a great location, by the sea and has a life sized pirate statue
P B — Google review
I had lunch here and enjoyed a very tasty meal of crab and grilled fish. Service was super for then whole meal. The location is right on the sea with two outside areas which are shaded for the most part and a large indoor area. I ate downstairs. Convenient parking just in front. Recommended for the good food whilst enjoying the sea views.
Christopher W — Google review
Awesome experience. Very nice setup by the sea with a great view of surrounding islands. People were happy to receive and serve us. Our food was as visually striking as tasty; grilled Carribean lobster, with all the tools to take your time and crack the shell and hunt down the seafood meat in all nooks then dip in the various Spivey sauces. A large choice of tasty aged rum. I did not have a place left for dessert but other guests had a very pleasant presentation. A very good blend of Creole, french cuisine. I highly recommend taking the trip to the pointe des châteaux strip up to this restaurant.
Fred O — Google review
We hiked there and first thought the pirate theme is cute, but the place is probably a tourist trap. To my surprise it was packed with locals and not many tourists. The food was brilliant! Nicely plated and cooked to perfection. I also had the best Pina Colada ever here. It was just a different league compared to what it would taste like at home. And on top you get this beautiful view of the ocean. Can’t recommend this place enough!

The explanation of the card is very complete. The cuisine, from the aperitif to the dessert, no other word than perfection. More than fresh products, real and honest tastes. Not to mention the adaptation of the menu following arrivals, a superb discovery for La Cigale, of course not counting the accompanying sauces which are divine. A treat for the taste buds. The food is really good at least the brochettes but don’t drink the cocktails…they are horrible. I went with my husband and his family who are French. There was a woman working who came to take our order and I asked can I speak in English (I am not French and can’t speak much of it) She said NO and started talking to other members on our table. All evening while serving us she did not look at me or talk a word to me once. Made me feel like she hates women or something. Interesting experience

We had fish brochettes which were well cooked but overpriced. Don’t like their policy to make you order another appetiser for 9 eur if two people want to share a brochette. The service was not good, the waitress did not have the right attitude, even though she knew one of the members of our table. I’m sure there are better places around to have dinner & a chat.

Chill Out Bar with Life Music directly at the beach. Stuff is absolutely friendly, sometimes hard to understand because of the French accent. Drinks like Gin Tonic, Beer, Whine were alright but nothing special...the atmosphere at the beach is nice

Marina
Marina Pointe-à-Pitre is a vibrant destination located near Pointe-a-Pitre on the south coast of Grande-Terre. It offers a wide range of water activities such as jet skiing, kitesurfing, boat trips, paddle boating, and snorkeling. The Guadeloupe Aquarium in the marina is the largest in the Caribbean and offers various experiences including ecotours and underwater strolls.
Good place for walking around and trying out some better restaurants in the city. Seems like a fancy neighborhood altogether for Pt. a Pitre

Nice & well equipped Marina, Friendly people. Clean, well equipped, and fairly new catamaran we got
Shyh L — Google review
Wonderful stay at this Marina. We are American, with a big old monohull and no bow thruster. We were worried about Med mooring as we're used to docking with finger piers, and we were worried about our French not being great. When we hailed them on VHF in terrible French, the portmaster immediately asked if we wanted to speak English. He made us feel so welcome and safe. They have a runabout specially designed for helping guide your boat into the berth. They even have 110 if you need it for electricity. This is a fantastic marina for foreign vessels. There is a grocery and bakery right there, as well as laundromat and dozens of restaurants, all in walking distance. Marina is centrally located so you have access to the rainforest of Basse Terre as well as the beaches of Grande Terre. One of the best experiences we've ever had at a marina. Wonderful people, affordable prices, great constantly updated facilities, perfect location. Highly recommended. Photo is us at the welcome dock :)
Sara L — Google review
From the practical standpoint this marina is convenient as it offers clearance, fuel, dinghy dock, opportunity to provision (Carrefour Express, several boulangeries), few restaurants, chandlery, and toilets. But (as others mentioned) the water smells, the toilets need more frequent cleaning, the supplies are limited, there is only one clearance computer - so the wait can be long. There is a lot of room for improvement.
Pawel S — Google review
The dockmaster was quite unpleasant. Docking is done using a bow mooring buoy, with a line attached to the front of the boat. There are some good restaurants nearby, though they tend to be on the pricier side. A small but reasonably priced Carrefour is also available in the area.
Moksii — Google review
Among worse and dirtiest showers , the water for the dock /boats is sometimes yes sometimes no..my advice.. Avoid it.. at anchor is way better.

Despite the presence of a DJ, the atmosphere struggled to take off and despite the many drinks taken, the 5 euro package was applied. Maybe concept to be reviewed depending on the final grade? But hey we had been warned so we can't say anything on this point On the other hand, a little disappointment when the decks closed at 10 p.m. At the start of the evening the playlist was at the top but the choice of the average DJ. (Translated by Google) Very warm welcome in this colorful place. We feel directly at ease with the owners of the place. The little lady is very warm. His journey is admirable. We feel an attraction to cooking. I hesitated to post the review because we are still attached to the cooker but I hope it will help you improve. 1. At first glance, you might find the place cool, colorful, different from what you're used to seeing in Guadeloupe. HOWEVER, I had serious doubts about the hygiene of the place. I thought it looked a little dirty. The seating cushions were not particularly clean (see video), the shelves a little dusty. 2. The little planter was very good, spicy, I liked it. They gave us the opportunity to taste it before ordering it. 3. Despite questionable hygiene in my opinion, I trusted the Google reviews which said that the tapas were great. I let myself be tempted by telling myself that it will be GREAT, especially with a price of 20€ per head. We are not told what is on the tray so that we would not necessarily understand the titles of the dishes. We let ourselves be tempted anyway. 4. The board arrives… and there’s disappointment. For two people €40… I would say I wasn’t expecting that. 5. Samosa: very oily, not necessarily a great taste. We didn't necessarily know what we were eating. Lack of balance. 6. Nice salad: the sauce was very nice. 7. Lentil dhal, it was good. 8. Chile: nothing more, nothing less. 9. Stuffed zucchini: could have been more delicious if it was really stuffed. The zucchini was not seasoned. 10. The risotto… so frankly there was a poorly dosed spice/herb… soapy taste. It lacked creaminess and deliciousness. 11. The egg / spinach. I just tasted the spinach and cheese, it was very canteen food. I can't speak for the whole dish because I don't like eggs. 12. Where I emphasize and tip my hat is that it is homemade and that has the merit of being said. On the other hand, to say that we are the only ones to offer ultra gourmet food at the marina... I doubt it. 13. I think you have real potential to explore by having the right dosage. The place has potential, hoping it will be cleaner. Afterwards, I am certainly not the target of this tapas bar and that is totally ok. I would like to point out that we were offered the pâté that my friend LOVED with the mouillettes (shout out to the toasted gingerbread). In conclusion, looking at the Google notes, I am quite disappointed in terms of discovery and taste journey. On the other hand, the welcome was really very good. Very very appreciated. 4.
