A de Arco is a charming restaurant located near Merida's stunning Roman arch, offering a delightful dining experience. The menu features a variety of Extremaduran and Spanish dishes, including options suitable for those with gluten intolerance. The staff is known for their warm hospitality, and the outdoor seating provides a lovely setting to enjoy your meal. Guests can savor delicious tapas and eclectic European dishes while taking in the picturesque surroundings.
The food was spectacular. The steaks were perfect, the foie was so delicate and tasty and the duck was soft and delicious. The carpaccio was a surprise for us because we had never tried it, and we loved it. The desserts were also spectacular, we ordered the house desserts and they were all very good, but specially the cheesecake. It was my mom's birthday and they were so nice to take out the dessert with candles, and even take pictures and videos! It's in the expensive side, but it's quite reasonable for the type of menu. If you have the chance, please go! I hope to go there again soon!

We went here for tapas on a Friday night. Place was hopping with diners but the service was fast. The food was ok but nothing special, good ingredients cooked in a standard way. My wife was in a pissy mood and maybe we didn't make the right choices. Tapas are cheap and the food is abundant. We have the croqueton de jamon iberico, which was good; bunuelos de coliflor, which were ok; and the artichokes, which were quite oily.

I can’t believe we had one of greatest lunches on our way to seville. Everything we ordered came out super tasty and delicious. They have English menu online but try to translate the menu they give you. I believe they are a bit different. Either way you wont be disappointed. We loved it so so much. Thank you so much for this lovely experience

I was so excited to eat here because it was recommended and the reviews are so good. Loads of people said how kind and helpful the staff was, however, for me they walked by us multiple times without noticing us. We waved, spoke, and I even got up to ask if we could pay. I’m very disappointed in this encounter. We saw the staff help and wait on everyone else but we were forgotten. After they gave us the check we waited 25 minutes for them to let us pay. It was almost 11pm so we ended up going inside to ask to pay. Then after the guy said gracias and left us with the bill and plate in our hands. We would have ordered more but it seemed as if our presence was bothersome. The croquettes were good but the solomillo lacked flavor. I hope someone reads this to help with a solution. Otherwise you will find others traveling through your town very disappointed.

Food 5/5 Service 6/5 A few years back, I heard about this restaurant and it's been on my radar for a while. An impromptu visit with no previous booking - booking is highly recommended - and the right amount of luck getting a table, ended up with a treat like no other, where food was surpassed by the service received. Having lunch with this good food, with an amazing service, and under Emperor Trajan's Arch (c. 15 ac - over 2,000 years old!), is an experience I will always remember with a smile. Oh! Prices are more than reasonable.

Definitely worth it. This restaurant had great reviews on many different sites and i understand why. The food was delicious. Very well presented, good portions for the price and surprisingly different. We tried to go again on our trip but we went late and there was a bit of a waiting list.

The food was some of the best I’ve had, servers and chefs were super accomodating and very kind, up to answering questions about soccer to food! Would highly recommend if your looking for a nice place to go out to eat, perfect for family dinners as well

Excellent Tataki de solomillo de retinto. Perhaps the best meat I have eaten in Merida this year. Perfect glass of the local Bolindre.

Tabula Calda is a must-visit restaurant in Merida, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The food is delightful, with complimentary fresh orange and grape salad to start. Dishes like fresh mushrooms with melted cheese, lamb chops, lamb asado, flan, and homemade ice cream are simply delicious. The strong influence of Portuguese cuisine in Merida's food scene is evident here. The attentive staff and English-speaking waiters provide excellent service.
Very authentic. Big portions and veryy good food with local vegetables. Prices is lower than in the same places in Merida. Service is a bit cold but in general everything is perfect. I could definitely recommend it
М З — Google review
Lovely restaurant. The food was excellent and very friendly and helpful service. There are several different menu options and we chose the local specialities. The portions were huge and the food was perfectly seasoned. I would happily go back.
Jeannie M — Google review
Super food good value, carefully prepared. Garlic soup, Paprika potato’s, Sholder of lamb and lamb stew. Plus orange salad. All from within 100km
The G — Google review
We found this place by accident and so enjoyed the first lunch that we went back another day. We ate the Menú del Día. The food is straightforward good local cuisine, nicely served. We ate in the dining room: old-fashioned and charming. The service was formal, polite, and helpful. In addition to el menú there is a more extensive carta, and a more sophisticated and more expensive menú which we did not try.
Brian S — Google review
Super place to experience traditional and delicious home cooked food. The restaurant is full of charm. Very warm and friendly welcome and attentive service. We had the Migas and the lamb shoulder absolutely delicious.
David B — Google review
The waiter helped us with our choices. Basically that we were getting traditional local cuisine. The entree cheese platter and cured meats was superb. The Iberian pork was the best pork I’ve eaten. The slow cooked lamb shoulder was good but a bit plain. I would happily go back to this restaurant to explore the rest of the menu
Ben S — Google review
This is definitely a city gem. Only a block away from Templo de Diana, this place offers a great space to have a traditional and delicious meal. To make it even better, the restaurant allows good doggies to come with their families and supports ostomy patients by allowing them to use the bathroom even if they are not costumers. Thanks Tabula Calda for such great place!
Caro&Naty — Google review
You have to go here if you are in Merida. This restaurant is so welcoming and the food was wonderful. They gave us a salad made of fresh oranges and grapes to start, on the house. My wife and I then had a starter of fresh mushrooms, fresh asparagus and melted cheese. It was simply delicious. My wife had the lamb chops and I had the lamb asado. Tender and perfectly cooked - it was wonderful. For desert I had the flan and my wife had the home made ice cream. The staff are amazing and the owner is a sweet soul. He found out we were from Canada and he put on a Canadian new world singer for us to listen to over dinner. How thoughtful. Our hotel told us about this restaurant and we would come back here time and time again. As we left everyone came out of the kitchen to bid us farewell. WOW.

Restaurant
Nestled within the stunning Roman ruins complex, Las 7 Sillas offers a delightful dining experience that perfectly complements your sightseeing adventures. This airy canteen and terrace, conveniently located near the ticket office, is a popular spot for families enjoying lunch together. Diners rave about the extensive menu featuring shareable plates that cater to various tastes. While some dishes like shrimp croquettes may not impress everyone, the overall quality of food shines through with flavorful options and generous portions.
Very good food in a great location. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal after a long day of seeing the sights. Do be warned, their hours on google aren't correct. Despite saying it is open 1-8, the kitchen was closed for food UNTIL 8, so we had to come back at a later time to eat. Do recommend reserving a table if on a weekend, as they did get very busy.
Hannah F — Google review
We visited Las 7 Sillas to wait for rain to pass without any expectations. That's why when the pizza was so good, it's a nice surprise. We had a few beers, stationed until weather was clear. So glad we chose to eat here. Great service, would recommend.

(Translated by Google) Lunch with colleagues. All the food was delicious, except for the shrimp croquettes, which we found to be somewhat tasteless. The staff was super friendly and attentive. They served us cold dishes first, then fried dishes, and then meat dishes. The desserts were incredible; we ordered 5 out of 10, but we were left wanting more. Recommendations: cheesecake and cold mango tart 😍 We'll definitely go back because it's good value. On the downside, they didn't give us the shot glass at the end of the meal 🥲 (Original) Comida con los compañeros de trabajo.

(Translated by Google) • Quick dinner before the theater: We arrived just in time for dinner before a show. We ordered, unsure if we'd have time, but in the end, we did, thanks to the speedy service. • Efficient service: We were surprised by the speed with which we were served, especially considering the restaurant was packed, with tables inside, a front terrace (where we sat), and a much larger back terrace. • Food: The pizzas were good, although they didn't impress us as much as we expected. What we did highlight was the Italian calzone, with quality ingredients, good dough, and wood-fired oven cooking. • Staff service: The waitress was very friendly, understanding of our situation, and served us with excellent service at all times. • Atmosphere: The restaurant was very clean, which was appreciated. A good option if you're looking for a quick and pleasant place to have dinner before a night out.

Mercado Gastronómico y Tapas San Albín is a unique restaurant located in a peripheral area within the Roman city, adjacent to the wall and leaning on the San Albin hill. The restaurant offers an authentic dining experience with beautifully decorated interiors. Guests can savor delicious dishes such as gazpacho and tender shoulder of goat, accompanied by a robust coffee. The attentive and friendly service adds to the overall dining experience.
What a great restaurant, in the halls of the plaza de toros and serving very honest and delicious food for a really good price. We ate here in August 2021 and I recommend the garbanzo stew and the goat - both delicious! When we were done, the waitress asked if we wanted to go in to see the stadium and escorted us into the arena.

(Translated by Google) READ THIS REVIEW!! There were three of us. We arrived early and were seated immediately. They took our order and served us quickly. Three main dishes: - Scrambled potatoes (€12) Extremely DISAPPOINTING, frozen fries still somewhat raw. The chorizo wasn't meant for grilling or frying, but rather the typical chorizo for quick and cheap cooking. In short, it was tough and difficult to eat. - Grilled pork ear (€16) Very GOOD, it was well cooked, with softer and crunchier parts. - Croquettes (€16) There were twelve homemade croquettes, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They were placed on a bed of potato chips. Very good. Service: The waiter served us well and was attentive to all the tables at all times, and was very friendly. It's also true that he was slightly rude and unprofessional as a waiter, but you could tell he was making an effort. Atmosphere: We ate outside where there was hardly any noise and it was comfortable. From what I could see, the inside was also nice, with bullfighting decorations on the walls (obviously). The bathrooms were quite clean. To conclude, the place is fantastic, with a good atmosphere, decent dishes, and consistent service. I don't recommend eating fish based on what I've seen in other reviews and the restaurant's location. It's better to order meat dishes, and obviously the grilled ahi. As a final note, it's true that the prices are very high. I hope this review is helpful. (Original) LEE ESTA RESEÑA!! Somos tres personas.

(Translated by Google) The sirloin steak was almost inedible, dry and toasted; it wasn't a slice but a ball, toasted on the outside and dry on the inside. The pork knuckle was as hard as a rock, and we had to send it back to the bullpen. When we arrived, there was hardly anyone there, and it still took almost 45 minutes for the dishes to arrive. For that price, such poor preparation is unusual. The service was good and attentive. The portions were generous.

El Puchero de la Nieta is a cozy restaurant located in the old town of Merida, offering homestyle Spanish dishes and desserts. The staff provides great treatment and accommodates guests even with reservations. The menu includes options for vegetarians, and the staff is friendly and helpful, providing explanations in English and showing pictures of the dishes. The interior is cool and inviting, providing a respite from the scorching outside.
The restaurant was simple, clean, and homey. The food was good and the servings were generous. We ordered ensalada de zorongollo, cochifrito, solomillo ibérico and a tapa of orejas.

We found this place inside the city for a spot of tapas dinner. They had decent options for vegetarians and the staff were friendly enough to explain in English. They even went ahead to show pictures of the dishes for us to understand. Toilet facilities were clean and we appreciated their delightful service. Lovely wine recommendations as well. Prices were fair and recommend this place for tapas or food.

The food was delicious. The mantilla de cerdo was outstanding. The bacalao dorado was very tasty too, but it was a shame because it came quite cold. Then I was almost overcharged for an item that I did not order. The service could be friendlier too. Must reserve ahead because they turned a lot of people away, even though the restaurant did not seem full.

The cheese starter and delightful asparagus with local cheese & ham are highly recommended. The staff is welcoming, professional, and accommodating, providing efficient service that enhances the overall dining experience.
If you like a good steak then this amazing restaurant is the place to go in Merida. Follow up the steak with a good bottle of wine from the vast selection of choice. Finally settle for the amazing brownie which was light soft and gewy all in one spoonful. The staff were friendly and courteous and the ability to select in advance of where to sit is a nice touch. If you want a private dining for two experience book the salon. For larger groups book the terrace or main room.

We dine here late September. We were excited with higher expectation due to reviews that we read. Unfortunately, the availability of their food was then limited especially the "meat". We dicided to eat here because of the "A La Brasa" We wanted to have those from Vaca Madurada" but the selections are not available, so I ended up having the "Lomo de Bacalao" which isn't so bad. It would be nice if those selections are always available despite of the days. Maybe Wednesday is not a good day to eat here or maybe much better to call what are not available before going. Anyway for the starter we had the chipirones a la brasa which is very soft and tasty. For the service, the woman was very attentive and she speaks English.

Great first meal in Merida. Tuna, croquetas , prawns and ravioli in a mushroom sauce. Apart from the ham croquettas the food was outstanding. The ravioli and prawns (lightly battered in a squid ink concoction were absolutely delicious . The fact that they resisted the temptation to add truffle flavouring to the mushrooms was a welcome relief and the taste of the mushrooms stood out. Well worth a visit

Riccardo S — Google review
Sybarit goes beyond the typical restaurants in Mérida by providing a more refined, creative take on Spanish cuisine. There are several unusual items on the menu, like tenderloin carpaccio or ravioli filled with foie gras. We kept it rather classic and had the Russian salad, tuna tartar, cuttlefish croquetes and the "lagarto ibérico" (thin strip of Iberian pork). All four dishes were good but somewhat subdued in flavor and not remarkable enough to order them again. On the plus side, many dishes have a small "tapa" version, which allows you to try several things. And the outdoor seating with views of the Trajan Arch is pretty nice.

The walls are adorned with bullfighting memorabilia, adding to the unique atmosphere. Despite some minor issues with service and seating, Casa Benito offers a great menu of the day and a friendly staff.
Great atmosphere along with a great menu of the day.

Good lunch menu, kind service. Not giving five stars as the sitting place we had was not the best, had to order 3 time for fork and knife and drink. Could see it was busy, highly recommended anyway!
Jacob C — Google review
The service was OK and the meat was tasty, but the bull-fighting memorabilia extravaganza is a bit overwhleming. Sit outside for a better atmosphere. The menu del dia is a good deal.

Poor service, average food, high price. Waiter repeatedly forgot to include the food we had ordered.. removed the expensive parts of the dish and attempted to substitute cheaper replacements. Go to Pez Fritos instead, great quality food and drink at a lower price.. try the muscles :)

Restaurante De tripas corazón is a popular spot in Merida, offering a delightful dining experience with its airy venue and terrace boasting views of the Temple of Diana. Guests have raved about the delicious and generous servings, including tapas, seafood, and robust Spanish mains. The Solomillo is particularly recommended for its tenderness and flavor. Visitors also appreciate the friendly and attentive service, with some even receiving complimentary shots.
Great food (really delicious & big servings), and amazing service. We chose the table next to the Temple of Diana & they didn’t show any dismay though it’s quite far from the kitchen.
Lyn M — Google review
This well known by locals place is one of my favorite places here, it's small and cozy the food is excellent and the service incredible done by one of the nicest, funniest person I've met in Merida. I believe he's name is Jose (not sure) but you can't miss him.
Maria M — Google review
Absolutely perfect location by the Temple of Diana. We had the salmon au gratin, anchovies with tomatoes (very good) and tuna - all perfectly cooked. Better wine selection than many others in Merida too
Louisa M — Google review
Do not be fooled by the seating facing the temple. Unfortunately the kitchen is not dimensioned to the number of tables. We waited for over one hour, dishes came 20 minutes apart, kids menus never arrived. Cancelled multiple dishes so we could leave. One of worse restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. Avoid at all costs, service is a complete catastrophe.
Nuno S — Google review
The rabo torro was inedible. It was mostly bones, the tuna steak was almost rare and simply bland. Without the bread and the samorejo way to little to be full. Had to eat something elswere afterwards. Nevertheless the salmorejo was good and the view on the temple was great
Benji. B — Google review
One of my favorite places in Mérida, the view right next to Temple of Diana is priceless at the end of day. I've tried the Solomillo and it was amazing, very tender and tasty. In my stay in Spain I've became a fan of Solomillo so...this was one of the best I've tried. Really nice staff as well, I got offered a shot at the end :)

Near the Diana's temple, but not in the same square. It has two floors, I was in the ground one. The food and the service was ok, nothing to complain nothing to point out. Maybe a good option if you want to avoid the crowded restaurants in the popular Plaza de España and sounding squares.

Vegan restaurant
Shangri-La el vegetariano is a popular restaurant in Merida, known for its extensive vegan and vegetarian options. The atmosphere is described as relaxing, and the service is friendly and professional. The menu offers creative and delicious dishes, with highlights such as stuffed mushrooms, Greek salad, burritos, and an assortment of pies and cakes. Additionally, the restaurant caters to gluten-free diners with numerous options available. Visitors praise the exceptional food quality and commend the great wine and beer selection.
Excellent Experience – Highly Recommended! We were absolutely thrilled with our dining experience! The food was outstanding – everything was freshly prepared, and the flavors were simply amazing. There was a wide variety of dishes to choose from, so everyone in our group found something they loved. The service was incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. We were a larger group, but everything ran smoothly and efficiently. The value for money was also very good. As a special highlight, the banana bread for dessert was absolutely delicious.
Claudia B — Google review
Lovely restaurant and probably the only really nice vegan/vegetarian option in Merida. We came for dinner one night and it was too cold inside with the AC on, we came for lunch the next day and everything was open and we sat right by the street, it was absolutely LOVELY and super nice to sit just by the window above the street. The food was good and the vegan options a plenty :) Would recommend!
Tanja S — Google review
We patronized this wonderful vegetarian/vegan restaurant in Merida, Spain on a recommendation and we're glad we did. We - 7 of us- reached at around 3 pm but we're told that they close at 4 pm (guess for the afternoon) and we could not dine in. So we placed an order for takeout. The staff was friendly and professional and the food was very nicely packed. We ordered Greek Salad, stuffed mushrooms (excellent), Tony (excellent), burritos and an assortment of pies/cakes. Very tasty and delectable food. We waited in the restaurant till the food was ready and it is very cozy and nicely appointed. Will definitely patronize them again the next time in Merida.
Pranay G — Google review
The golden zucchini crepe (fried potatoes, egg, onion, grated zucchini inside a crepe - half €7, full €13.50) was delicious. The wrap (red beans, with pineapple, peppers and cheese with sides of guacamole and salsa) was fine but nothing special - €6.50/€12). Service was friendly and efficient. The decor and atmosphere was very “granola” and earthy like veg cafes from the 70s.
Kevin B — Google review
We were greeted warmly upon arrival, which made for a pleasant start. However, once inside, the strong smell of incense was overpowering and detracted from the dining experience. The food arrived one dish at a time instead of all together, which made it difficult to enjoy the meal as a group. We tried the quesadillas with bell peppers, the burrito with beans, and the rice noodles with vegetables. The flavor was okay, but unfortunately, the ingredients did not seem fresh. The guacamole was clearly not homemade, and some components—like the pineapple and bell peppers—were straight from a can. Honestly, I can only explain the many positive reviews by assuming that vegetarians and vegans in Mérida are just relieved to find any options at all. If there were more choices in town, I doubt this place would stand out
Liliana G — Google review
A good vegetarian place with many options. The best part is there are half plates in most dishes, so you can try many dishes. I loved the noodles and the bean wrap.
Google review
Such a nice place! I went there twice, they have a wide range of crafted beers and many vegetarian options. On the first day I've tried the Moussaka and it was really good, can't recommend it enough.
Jorge C — Google review
Language is not a barrier when you are hungry Very nice place, very friendly staff (English speaking person was absent on that day probably), still we managed to understand each other (with google translate app, of course) perfectly. My wife had stuffed mushrooms and I had a vegan burrito with veggies and beans. I even managed to order a spicy sauce on the side. The dessert we had was a vegan Apple pie with raspberry-mango ice-cream. The ice-cream texture and flavor were so rich and creamy - we triple checked it doesn't contain any dairy products and is really vegan. Prices are really reasonable. Bottom line: If you are in Merida - this place is a must. Pros: Great food, Very friendly service, Affordable prices Cons: Didn't know English (was not really a con for us)

I was very excited about trying this restaurant. So I arrived right before 6:00. The waitress told me they would be opening soon and that I could only drink so I ordered an espresso and carried it myself to the patio as no one offered to serve me. I sat at my table for 30 plus minutes with wait staff walking by me staring and saying nothing. Finally I asked if someone was going to serve me. And they unapologetically said they don't serve food yet, so I asked when they open, she said 8:00. I understand in Spain that hours are much different than in the United States, but I'm certain you have an international clientele and you really should try harder at communicating what your hours are. Or at least ask a person after they've been sitting at the table for half an hour if there's something you can do to serve them. I really felt like I was inconveniencing the staff by sitting there when I just wanted to partake in this fine restaurant Just something to consider.

Restaurante Catalina Plaza is a popular spot with great service and authentic food. The terrace offers a wonderful atmosphere to enjoy fresh and tasty salads, dreamy chicken, and other fine dishes that are not overly spicy. The staff, particularly Mario, is attentive, quick, friendly, and helpful. Guests recommend trying the suggested regional wine along with excellent menu items like Carrilleras and Chuletillas de Cordero for a delightful dining experience.
This is a very pleasant place. The staff are helpful and kind. The food is excellent. The space is attractive. We could not be happier with our festive lunch.

The place and food are nice. However, the whole experience was terrible. Staff was not friendly. They put food you didn’t ask for on the table without even telling what that is. They put the closed bottle of water in front of you and don’t even offer to serve it. They served one person and the other one waited a while for the food, instead of serving both at the same time. Staff didn’t even look at your face or come to see if you need anything else. After all, the plate they served me was broken, as you can see in the photo. In the end, at payment, the waitress wanted me to pay with contactless without even seeing if the inserted value was correct. When I said that I didn’t need a receipt, she just turned around without any compliment. Funny thing, this behavior was very different if the costumers were Spanish - which was not our case. Never coming back. Don’t recommend.
Cátia S — Google review
Top notch food and service. We were the first to arrive as they were setting up the outside tables. Ordered vegetable tempura, ham and grilled chipirirones (the chipirones were recommended by Alberto the very friendly and competent waiter) The vegetable tempura was more of a traditional batter than the Japanese version but excellent nonetheless The chipirones were absolutely top notch. Cooked to perfection. The view of the temple was a great setting for an unexpectedly gourmet experience. Definitely recommend, Only slight misstep is the honey which was drizzled on the vegetables, though thankfully this was a very light drizzle so didn’t detract from the excellence of the produce.

Popped in here for menu of the day. Joined the Spanish inside as was cooler. We booked online which was easy. This enabled us to have an indoor seat choice. Despite getting our order a little confused the service was good. The food was devine and the menu of the day included bread and first drinks as well as three courses. As everyone inside was Spanish the atmosphere was wonderful with people sharing conversations across tables. The squid was the best cooked squid I have eaten in Spain. It just melted in your mouth. Wow wow wow...get the croquettes filled with torta del casar cheese and boletus...they are insane! They come served over fig jam that added nice sweetness to theese cheesy flavorful morsels. The risotto was pretty good but maybe too small for the price. Regardless of that theese guys make some of the best croquettes I have tasted and the service is very friendly.

By far this is the most eclectic restaurant we’ve been. The atmosphere was fun and unique. The plates had cute sketches of animals in hats. The tables were nicely separated so you didn’t feel like you were sitting with others. The food was unique and quite tasty. The only thing we didn’t like is how the bartender, who took our order as we were first to arrive, recommended doubling up on the appetizers. As you can see from the photos this was too much food. We asked the waiter about it later and he said they are required to double it for the “economics”. Something must be lost in our translation. We scaled back the rest of our dinner which was disappointing as we wanted to try more of the menu. Would highly recommend dining here while in Merida!

Very pleasant restaurant with a lovely art nouveau deco and really lovely crockery. The first starter arrived really fast, but then the serving stalled. When it arrived, though, the “Sea ham” was absolutely awesome, like Iberian ham but made of tuna. We also really enjoyed the wok, made of calamari tagliatelle with other veggies imitating vermicelli. Finally we had fried eggs with mussels, although the dish is gigantic and we had a hard time finishing it.

Amazing, delicious, perfect lunch! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+! The food deserves a Michelin-star, it was mind blowing. Great options for vegetarians too. I recommend the ‘Tomate “no es lo que parece”’ (with burrata) and the ‘Shitake salteada con espuma gratinada de ali oli y miel’. Don’t skip dessert … we had the chocolate mouse (‘Cúpula de mousse de chocolate, granizado de piña y chocolate blanco caliente’), they must have melted an entire bar of white chocolate over it … it was heavenly (*hears angels singing*). The design of the place (done by a local designer) and the professional waiters made the whole experience top-notch. Gracias!

The food was awful and ended up giving every person in our party who ate there awful food poisoning. Do not eat at this restaurant, they are completely unsanitary. Adding to this review since the owner threatened legal action for a review for unsanitary food. Our family was there yesterday, and all of us are horribly sick from tainted meat. This place is unsanitary and should be shut down. Don’t threaten legal action for a legit review about a restaurant serving tainted meat. We are all horribly sick from your terrible food. There’s no way all 4 people who ate there just so happened to get the worst food poisoning from eating at your restaurant. Maybe take a closer look at the quality of food you put out instead of threatening people who post legit reviews about your horrible restaurant. Adding to this again, since the owner insists legal action. There is no way we ate at your restaurant and all 4 of us were sick immediately after eating it. I was with my family, so of course you don’t have my specific name. We were in Merida, and ate at Restarante Naya , and were served tainted meat at your restaurant. It tasted off in the meal and then 2 hours later we were all puking and sick all night from food poisoning. Do not threaten me for a legit review about tainted meat. The owner of this restaurant is a complete fool who tries to use intimidation to scare people from posting poor reviews. Why would I keep a receipt? We clearly ate at Naya in Merida, just down the road from our hotel. We stayed up all night puking and drinking water, so for you to insist we didn’t have what we dealt with, make me think you shouldn’t be allowed to serve people. You’re a complete joke of a company and you should shut down for serving terrible food and not having any accountability for what you served. Piss off

You get what you paid for. I went to this place you don’t have to. They tease you with a 15 euros full menu (desert included), nice right? Well the food service cost money you know? So if you want cheap make sure you are ready for it, because you are gonna get it in large portions! (Of cheap food if you didn’t get it). Dry meat, tasteless potatoes… whatever you imagined it’s these a little bit worse just to remind you what you have paid for. Also cheap imported beer (I guess local beer is too expensive for you). And the service… well you get around 2 guys serving up to 100 people. So you will have to be patient, and wait. But you value time over money right? So get ready for a 20 minute pause between courses. Again, this is not the restaurant’s fault, they over something that people want to pay for, and it’s full! (We waited around 45 minutes for a table). How this helps you decide where to have a meal :)

This was not good. This is in its own class of bad. I had better food in the Army. I will say staff was friendly and hard working.
Rory B — Google review
Not that good, ordered a stake and half way through noticed there was a stripe of plastic, the meat had been grilled with a 5cm piece of wrapping plastic. The waiter did say they were sorry but no discount was made on the bill. Making you pay for a steak that was grilled with plastic is a bit too much for us.

Restaurante La Tahona is a charming restaurant with historic stone walls that offers a picturesque setting to enjoy tapas and classic Spanish dishes. The spacious entryway leads to a courtyard for tapas, while the restaurant at the back provides a cozy dining experience. Although the tapas selection may be limited, the quality of the dishes is exceptional. The friendly waitstaff, though not fluent in English, provide excellent service and recommendations.
Seriously delicious food and beautiful place. Looking forward to having dinner here again on our next visit to Merida.

Nice spacious entry way that leads to a courtyard for tapas and a restaurant at the back. The tapas selection was not great, but what it had was really good. No English menu, so we used google translate for the dishes that we couldn't figure out, because the waiter did not speak much English. He was very friendly though. We had two tapas and a drink each, and we had to move on to another place for more tapas.

Overall great restaurant! Entrees were delicious and the main fish dish was gentle and savory. Cozy, old-school atmosphere too.

This restaurant is an amazing experience. The food is fantastic, big sizes and very very good. The restaurant is very well designed, you have private rooms to have a gathering with your peers. The waiters are very friendly, they recommend the best food and make you enjoy the best experience! Also, the food has local ingredients and I definitely recommend for tourists

Vía de la Tapa is a centrally located spot that offers delicious tapas and a professional service. It's an excellent choice for both lunch and dinner, which is quite rare for such a prime location. The place also boasts a superb wine selection, making it a great option to enjoy some ham and cheese plates along with your drinks.
Considering it is beside the most famous tourist spot in Mérida, the food was pretty OK. Salmorejo soup was authentic and cold, jamon, as you would expect was tasty. Costillas were very tender. The only downside was service which was a tad slow considering they are catering for tourists, many whom are on tight schedules.
Brian O — Google review
Very good place for tapas. Super good wine selection! Ham and cheese plate was really delicious!
Enrico K — Google review
I ate there today. I order the ham on a slice of French bread. Ham in Spain is pretty chewy and salty so it is not really the fault of the restaurant. I ordered the fried noodle with vegetable and a few small shrimps. It was very salt and borderline inedible. The service was good. The ambience wonderful. It was this dish was totally subpar.

Espero nunca mas volver y no recomendo a nadie. The most unpolite waiter I have ever seen. The guy was super rude and said that needed 30min just to give the table, despite tables were available and non-reserved. I will never be back ajd dont recommend to anyone.
Alan C — Google review
Horrible service, unfriendly waiters. Waited to be seated more than one hour just to see that other guests who arrived later were seated before us. When asking the waiter about it he answered in a very unfriendly way. When asking another waiter to prepare a table inside, we were told that they were going to prepare one, but then seated again other guests who had just arrived first. Asked again about the reason and first waiter showed even worst manners. These guys are real dilettantes in terms of gastronomy.

Fantastic. The tapas were delicious, the service good and professional. Right in the centre. Would work for lunch and dinner. Unusual to have such a good place so close to what everyone comes to see... excellent
Thomas R — Google review
Morcilla tasteless, secreto ibérico hard and with tons of pepper hiding the real taste of the secreto, parrillada de verduras greasy and salty and finally minúscules croquetas de jamón with more bechamel than jamón. Definitely not worth it and not a place that caters for quality. Go somewhere else!
Miguel R — Google review
Only ate here because most other restaurants were closed at noon on a Saturday (not sure why they were closed?). The only items they were serving were slices of ham, salami, and cheese on warm bread (tapas portions), and a tapas portion of mini hotdogs on french fries. The food was OK but nothing to write home about.

Tapas bar
Bar El Pestorejo is a must-visit spot located in Plaza Espana (City Hall) with a tranquil and pleasant atmosphere, making it ideal for families. The Extremaduran stew and homemade ham croquettes are highly recommended, along with the exquisite non-typical fries. With each drink, guests receive a delicious tapa of pestorejo. This legendary bar is renowned for its BBQ pork rind and cheek, which sets it apart from other bars in the area.
Firstly, a lot of people get mistaken about this place saying it’s a restaurant or expect the same tapas as others. You should not expect normal tapas here. Second, this place is legendary for 1 thing, BBQ pork rind and cheek. So if this is not your thing you can go to other bars in the area or next door. This place is legendary because it started as this small original bar and now has several bigger ones including in the main square of Merida. It’s so legendary that most times you have to wait for the BBQ pork cheek but when you get it, it washes down super well with the ice cold San Miguel. Locals know this place, it’s one of those hole in the wall joints that only locals go to but if you find it enjoy it for what it is!! Greasy, BBQ goodness only for the connoisseurs of simple delights! 😺

The food options are extremely limited, it's very cheap but you won't get good food here. The meat with tomato sauce wasn't even cooked properly - it was heated slightly in the microwave so the middle was fridge cold and my berenjena had ice in it.

Very good and tasty Iberico pork grill! Nice waiter and waitress although we cannot speak Spanish. Wonderful experience here! Good food great wine!

My friend and I shared the tomato dish with course salt, balsamic vinager and olive oil; migas (bread crumbs with small pork bites and garlic cloves; and a pork steak with fries. The tomatoes were flavorful and fresh; the migas was very good. My favorite dish was the pork steak. The pork was extremely tender, juicy, and savory. The service was great. Everyone was friendly. The ambiance was awesome. We sat outside and happened to see a small parade. The street was very lively, yet quaint. Wonderful experience! I would recommend making a reservation ahead of time.

We stopped here on our way out of the Ampitheatre. The food is absolutely incredible! We ordered fries, the octopus, the pluma and the steak. The fries were thick cut and delicious. The octopus was sooo tender and not chewy at all. I've never had pork as tender as the pluma, and the steak was cooked to perfection. Honestly, it's the best meal we've eaten since we hit mainland Spain!!

Unbelievable - to sit under a completely modern building, looking just feet away to a free out door theatre spectacle - all taking place in the confined space of a bona fide Roman ruins. Wonderful. According to our helpful new pal, said restaurant was recently featured on Masterchef Spain - tender and rich beef cheek, a wonderfully hearty yet healthy mushroom dish and lots of good jamon. Excellent.

The Parrillada de verduras was great, as was the Ensalada trece uvas. It was for a late lunch on first Sunday in July, when most things were closed, and was quite empty, and service was great. We went to this restaurant specifically to have salmorejo, which most restaurants in Merida do not seem to have, despite being unbearably hot in August. I have to say that this was the best salmorejo I've had in my life. We licked the plates until they were clean. They have local artisan beers, including a pretty good IPA. Their desserts are also very good. The service was fast and staff were very friendly.

We complained but they don’t speak Portuguese or English, and then they hid the bill with a card to fool us into paying for rotten squid! Shame on them!!!

Cash only or bizum.... Didn't see when I walk in and thankfully I had some cash on hand! Food was disappointing. Had migas and bacalao dorado. Had expected more given the good reviews. White lights so ambiance was rather off. Plates I got were chipped. So tells me they don't care much about minor things but that's probably a fair warning that food would be just be ok. Service was good and friendly. But they could really do better with food. There's no tap beer. Maybe they don't get that much customers? The Parador de Mérida is a refined hotel located in an old monastery and seminary, exuding an ancient and Moorish atmosphere throughout the entire building. The establishment features an upmarket restaurant serving typical local dishes from Extremadura, allowing guests to dine outdoors on a spacious courtyard during warm weather. Additionally, there's an Arabic courtyard where visitors can enjoy coffee in a delightful setting.
This made a wonderful stop over on the way to Portugal. The property is a former convent and old. It is in the centre of town so makes walking everywhere easy. Being 300 years old it is quirky, the long corridors and 300 year old floor tiles remind you that it was formerly a convent. Our room was large and super quiet. The bed was very comfortable and the linen best quality. I would not hesitate to stay here again. Breakfast was quite a feast with a very good selection. The town itself is interesting and there are good bars and restaurants. It has a good vibe and mixes roman structures with jazz bars and funky tapas bars. The aircon and everything else in our room worked fine. We used the underground parking which was great with a lift straight to reception. We could have easily parked in town to save the charge but frankly, theirs was just too convenient to bother with anything else. If we come this way next year we will definitely stay here.

Absolutely the worst! Surly staff at check in and check out; the room was up a set of stairs, down another, up yet another with no lift; there was no proper chair at the desk (just a hassock); the shower didn’t work; the garage is poorly designed, really tight, and they charge a fortune for parking. It is in a good location and its interior is pretty in its way but I would NEVER stay here again and would recommend that anyone looking to go to Mérida — which is absolutely wonderful — book another hotel.

Hugely disappointed with this visit which I had been looking forward too since I read such glowing reviews. It is still so wonderful to stay in a converted convent however restoration works were underway which were not pointed out so in addition to the noise the pool & gym were not available. From check-in to check out the impersonal service started. No warm greeting but instead an insistence I booked a room for 3 people when my confirmation clearly stated 2 adults only. No spontaneous offer of directions to the lifts or our room - sadly it was just a functional transaction. My low point was finding our breakfast table cleared on Sunday morning before we had finished breakfast. I had gone to collect some fruit & returned to find the table completely cleared & being reset including my hotel card being wrapped up in the removed table cloth. The room was large & comfortable but the walls are thin & we could hear the people above waking across their floor & running their bath. The noise was compounded when the window was opened to let in the rattle of the generator. As if the experience was already below par I discovered on check out we were charged for a child for breakfast each day although we were very much a couple with no children in tow. A really sad & disappointing experience which will now affect my desire to stay at any more Paradores.

Below-average Parador. A beautiful building with nice and very spacious rooms. Dinner was good and service was fast. But the air conditioning system doesn’t work: it's certainly not noisy (as advertised) but doesn't cool the room at all: the temperature rose to 24.8°C, which was hotter than outside. As a consequence, we slept badly. As for breakfast, the coffee capsule machine on the right doesn't work at all, the one on the left only once in five times. So there was basically no coffee. Considering that there is also no tea, it’s not great start of day after a rough night. The checkin and checkout were efficient, but they should give directions to the room and elevators, as they do in every hotels.

The hotel is very well situated and the staff was very nice however we were very unimpressed even disheartened with the hotel facilities. The outdoor area is under construction… which I understand….. but you cannot charge a full price when there are Construction workers drilling and hammering at 8 am under your window ( good double glazed windows but still could hear the noise). The pool and outdoor lounge area are not even usable … you are surrounded by construction panels and noise …. When we asked the staff if there were options of upgrading the room they very kindly said it would have a fee …. And the best they could was offer an interior room ( with a window to a very tiny courtyard or to another wall). The room itself is extremely basic …. Barr floors, white walls and extremely simple wood furniture. I am sorry but this Parador was a huge disappointment.

The location of this hotel is excellent. It is in walking distance of many of the Roman attractions as well as a massive selection of restaurants and shops. The only real downside was the major landscaping project which was an unscenely site to look out to . My wife was also very disappointed with the run down outside pool. Neither of these issues had been made known to us when booking. The rooms themselves were quaint, clean but maybe a little dated. The bathroom in particular needs a bit of grout work and refurbishing of the shower. There was noise heard from other rooms. Especially when someone was running a shower or tap in their bathroom. The food at breakfast was a typical continental with the normal paradore offerings of some hot choices. It was quite entertaining watching guests struggle with the coffee machine when all they had to do was read the instructions. Please remember that you need to ask for tea from the waiting staff. In the restaurant at night there was a good selection to choose from and the service was polite and professional. The bathroom was a pleasant are to relax in. The staff seemed to work in the restaurant and the bar so sometimes a little patience is required so they can give you their fullest attention. All in all this was not one of the best paradores we have stayed in. On e they have completed refurbs it might get there though. All of the staff made it something special. The staff were all very courteous, warm and friendly.

hmmm... we were here a year ago and there were building works. We are here again and there are building works. My advice to the Parador management. Crack on and get building works complete. Pay some extra to get the work done. At the current rate I reckon the completion date is 2037. Also... who came with your EV charging payment scheme? You can't read the chargers screens because they are in bright sunlight. You need to call a member of staff who has a set of QR codes in an envelope. You have to pick one to scan , but the numbers on the cards don't correspond to the chargers numbers. It's a game of pick-a-card-any-card while standing in blazing hot sunshine. Go through the whole bank authorisation to find it's the wrong card. Rinse and repeat until you get lucky. @Parador Management - Can you come up with a sane system of EV payment? Say charge it to the room like a normal hotel would?

In the middle of June, with the pool closed and not late check out possibility. Plus, the room was older than a hostel. It looked like a cloister. The air conditioning was also not working properly. Too expensive if we take into account all described here. The location is good but Merida is small so the good location here does not really make a difference.

Agallas Gastro & Food is a must-visit restaurant in Merida, offering a unique and delightful culinary experience. The tapas here are on another level, with dishes like duck on spring roll and mushroom risotto that are described as excellent and fantastic. Visitors praise the friendly and tech-savvy young servers who make the dining experience even more enjoyable. The restaurant surprises guests with elaborated, different, and delicious dishes at reasonable prices.
I ate here twice in 2 days! On my third day I could not decide where to go, so I went back to Agallas. Because of the good service and the great food. I was alone in Mérida and that was not a problem at all. Sometimes restaurants put me at the bar, that was not the case here. The pulpo with pancetta was my absolute favorite.

The fusion /innovated dishes didn’t meet our expectations; the service was rough. The best dish was the clams that was a successful innovation dish must order at this place. The waitress spoke very little English so we had hard time communicating.

Restaurante El Yate is a hidden gem located on the outskirts of Merida, Spain. The staff is known for their warm welcome and attentive service, making every visit a delightful experience. The food served here is excellent and fresh, with a great selection of hearty dishes and generous tapas. Whether you're passing through or staying at Hotel Medea, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit for a memorable dining experience.
We stopped by at this restaurant on the way from Sevilla to Madrid. And did not regret. It's on the outskirts of Mérida. The service was very quick and the staff super friendly, the food was great. Highly recommend this restaurant!!

La Mafia se sienta a la mesa is an extremely comfortable and stunning establishment, featuring an extensive menu, delectable cuisine, and amiable personnel. It ranks among the finest Italian restaurants I have ever visited. The rissotto is extraordinary, meticulously served within a charming interior. Highly recommended for its outstanding service, delightful food in a picturesque setting. The food itself is excellent, as is the decor and attention to detail.
I ordered the Giganti of suckling lamb in Pedro Ximénez and foie gras sauce (Giganti de cordero lechal en salsa de Pedro Ximénez y foie gras) and I genuinely think this may be the best pasta dish I’ve ever eaten. I wish I could come back to try the Partridge quadrato in boletus and truffle sauce (white) (Quadrato de perdiz en salsa de boletus y trufa), the Rettangoli of suckling pig in a meat and fig sauce with raspberries (Rettangoli de cochinillo en salsa de carne e higo con frambuesas), and more. Unfortunately the menu is via a QR code and the website is extremely annoying. The pop-up window keeps returning even once you close it.

What a wonderful experience your restaurant was. Yesterday we ate here for the second time, now with our friends from Holland. The staff is very friendly, helpful and smooth in the operation. We could even speak English! And there was a Menu in English too! Great! The food was a culinary experience. Beautiful and very flavourful dishes. The prices are friendly and the ambiance was warm and cosy. The rooms pleasantly cooled. We have experienced La Mafia se Sienta a la Mesa Merida as a culinary pearl. We will definitely come back often! Thank you very much!

Exceptional lunch! The food was absolutely gorgeous, and our waitress was amazing she went out of her way to help us, especially with translation. (Translated by Google) Light and shadow. We'd heard great things about this beach bar, and a couple of friends made a reservation for Saturday night for the four of us to have dinner. We arrived and were seated at an inside table. The girl complained because there were also empty tables outside, but they said no. The food (what I tried) was nothing special. The other diners at my table did have good things to say about their dishes. We ordered: -Various croquettes (when we asked the waiter what they were, he couldn't tell us. Great if you're allergic to seafood and get one of them). We asked him if he could give us the same croquettes instead of the varied portion (since he couldn't tell us what varieties they came in), all the same, with ham, and it wouldn't be a problem if the croquette was different. The answer was a resounding no: "You can't shut down the kitchen to do that." (Shut down the kitchen to make all the croquettes the same flavor? Anyway...) - Lizard: It came with potatoes. My friends liked it. - Chicken Steak: Also with potatoes, and also approved. - Entrecote: Also with potatoes, and I repeat, their evaluation was also positive. We added Portuguese chicken to our order, as the waiter told us it was small. We ordered it because, in my case, I didn't know which croquettes I could eat (because they didn't know the flavors) and I didn't like the other dishes. At least chicken is always a dish that never fails me, because I love it (and I only eat the chicken breasts). One of the waitresses insisted on saying that it was a lot of food, that the chicken was huge. She insisted in a way that made me feel very uncomfortable. When she left, I spoke to the rest of the table to see if we could clear plates, but in reality, it was what I was going to eat (the chicken breasts). I found myself explaining myself to the waitress when she returned to the table, feeling bad for ordering "such an exaggerated amount." When the chicken arrived, it looked good, but the flavor was too bland. I don't know if it was just that day or if it's always like that. Every time we ordered a drink, it took them more than 15 minutes to bring it. We had to call them to get their attention. Finally, when it came to dessert, we wanted to try something, but they only had chocolate cake. Our friends ordered it, but after waiting 20 minutes, it didn't arrive, so we decided to ask for the check. To our surprise, when we checked the receipt, the cake was marked and charged. We had to talk to them. The whole thing was a little strange. I liked the place, and I'm actually sorry about the experience we had because I think it must be a place where it's not always like that, but that's our experience, and we weren't at all satisfied. It looked very good, but (Original) Luces y sombras.

Few places open during the Easter Monday and we decided to step in in this place. The food is not well prepared, no taste and barely prepared: codfish literally boiled and dropped in the plate with tiny shrimps around! The hambúrguer was uncooked, no salt, no flavor and something with sugar over the sauce! The staff are nice, the drink options are good.

What a wonderful place! We were looking at the popular restaurant nearby and then saw some traditional dishes we wanted to try at this one. The staff were so friendly and accommodating and full of advice as well as a sense of humour that made lunch a relaxed, but light experience. When we go back to Mérida, we will be sure to visit.

The food took an hour and a half to arrive. The employee joked with our question about the menus. We asked for more water and beers and they forgot about it. In the final the menu couvered the bread and we were charged for it and they forgot about the desert after we asked several times about it..

Bar Volterra in Merida is a delightful find that truly captures the essence of local dining. The friendly staff, including Selene and Carlos, go above and beyond to assist guests, even those with limited Spanish skills. Their tapas selection is not only generous in portion but also impressively crafted, offering gourmet flavors at reasonable prices. Diners rave about dishes like the Flaute de bacon with apple and raspberry, which stands out as a must-try.
Happened to stumble upon this gem of a place in Mérida. The staff Selene & Carlos were lovely getting over our bad Spanish and helping us with our selections in English. The food and drinks were delicious, ordering from the Tapas selection and unbelievably good value with big dishes for what was gourmet standard tapas. Wish we were staying longer to sample more of the delicious menu. Thank you for making our night enjoyable
Gareth — Google review
Eat with the locals even on the tourist circuit, the tapas are generous in size and fantastic in detail. Top tip: the locals are happy to stand and wait for a table to open up outside, but there are most very quite often tables open inside, and Jose will even serve you anything on the menu right at the bar. Excellent.

We chose some tapas dishes and while they were all good, the Flaute de bacon with apple and raspberry was amazing. We will be coming back again. Great service as assistance with our poor Spanish. Best dinner experience so far in Spain.

Very decent quality food, yet not too expensive. Don't order tempura though, it's way too oily. They cut it too small and deep fry it.

We ordered a plate of ham with bread and tomato, the grilled asparagus with tomato and cheese which was a surprise, the pâté medallions which will be the best pâté we have ever tasted, and a pretty good Iberian pen. The death by chocolate dessert is delicious even with a spoon. The very correct price for the quality offered. Without a doubt a success. (Original) La atención del personal muy buena. It is true that it is not cheap, perhaps a little expensive, but the plates are well served in quantity and the quality is exceptional. At least what we had was delicious. The place is small but cozy. That day there were two waiters who seemed to be learning, but we all have the right to an opportunity. They must learn more, but they are on the right track. A great bar with a great range of beers but unfortunately the keg lines weren’t on but they had a superb selection in the fridge. Lovely staff who looked after us.

Extremaduran restaurant
Restaurant
Spanish restaurant
Mesón El Lebrel, Cocina Tradicional Extremeña is a small restaurant with a well-deserved reputation for its homemade food and affordable prices. The owner warmly invites guests to try the daily specials, such as migas and fried cochi, which are delicious and worth trying. The portions are abundant and very tasty, especially the morro with rich sauce. The location is central, making it convenient for visitors to enjoy the traditional Extremaduran cuisine offered at this establishment.
Great prices, and very nice authentic food. Service was quick. No charge for bread which is quite rare, and very much appreciated.

True home food and atmosphere. I ordered salad and beef with tomatoes (you can order a half portion) and it was very delicious. The service was perfect!! Much recommended!
Olena B — Google review
Traditional, family run meson with unusual and delicious Extremaduran raciones. We particularly liked the migas and asparagus pastel. The lady in charge guided us attentively through the menu ( there were versions in English and German). Very good value for money.

As authentic as it can be. Food came the moment we ordered it and was delicious. I recommend the almond pudding and the chocolate covered fig. Will be back!

A small restaurant with incredible food and great staff. I had partridge stew and one of the others in our group had rabbit stew. Both were done very well.

One of the best three restaurants of south Spain, together Roceria del Peppa in Cadiz and the Cloister Restaurant in Guadalupe
