Very nice traditional lamb place that's not on the main street, but just on the side. The wines are great and so is the food. It's very spacious and in the winter, you can walk in. The summer might be different

Great and unique food — the Patagonian lamb for one was generous enough for two and perfectly cooked. However, the service felt a bit lacking; our server seemed slightly rude, and the wine wasn’t presented before pouring. Still, giving them the benefit of the doubt that it might’ve just been a busy night.

We went to this restaurant in El Carafate 2 times. The first time is for lunch and think we don’t have enough so we go back for dinner before we leave El Carafate. The price is reasonable and quantity and quality is good. Lamb Chinchulines is delicious. This is a must try restaurant in El Carafate.

Love this place. Food is good, especially the lamb. The wine they recommended is also very good. Service is warm and free WIFI. I came here for lunch and came back for dinner as well. Highly recommended.

Best charcoal roasted lamb in Argentina that we have tasted so far after 5 days here. The skin is excellent and the meat oh so tender. Dessert of Calafate ice cream was superb.

The food and atmosphere were very satisfying, but it was a bit disappointing that the staff were more focused on their phones and chatting. They never checked on us during the meal. Still, I’d like to think we were just unlucky, and since the food was excellent, I would recommend this place.

We had a great lunch at Pura Vida. We arrived without a reservation and were welcomed to a table immediately. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious!!! We had some empanadas plus the Lamb Pie and the Beef Stew served in a pumpkin. Very tasty and generous portions. Home made bread was an added bonus. Would definitely recommend this place.

We had the caprese empanada which was sooo cheesy and warm. Amazing vegan and vegetarian options! We had the vegan potato pie and the Patagonian lamb stew. Great place for all to share a meal - despite different dietary restrictions. The Calafate ice cream is a must try!!! The staff are so attentive and warm and the ambience and decor of the place is very cosy.

Absolutely amazing! We loved this restaurant so much that we came back the next night. The food was incredible, and the staff and service were just as impressive.

We ordered the salad and the lamb pie. Both were great, but the lamb pie was the best dish we had in Argentina so far. Additionally, they served us a local bread accompanied by a typical dip made of black lentils. For a desert we had the chocolate brownies with berries and ice cream. In conclusion, all food was great, as well as the service. Highly recommended !

We had such a wonderful time at Pura Vida! The service and the food were both amazing, everything was full of flavor and beautifully served. The vegetarian dishes were delicious, creative, and truly generous in size (we felt seen as vegetarians!). The place has such a lovely atmosphere, the kind that invites you to open a bottle of wine and just enjoy the night. ✨🍷

Such a cute restaurant with a nice view and outdoor patio. Many vegetarian/vegan options available as well. I had Argentine Carbonada (not vegeterian/vegan) and fresh lemonade, and they were very delicious! Also the bread was amazing. Portion were quite large. The staff were friendly.

Be prepared for it to be expensive and it will be brilliant. Probably the best meal we had in Patagonia - great lamb, steak and trout. Delicious wine. Great setting. Definitely recommend if budget is not the main concern.

Amazing homey place, my favorite in El Calafate! The food is just so satisfying and the people are super nice and humble. If you are in El Calafate, this is the place to have a dinner at least once! Definitely a fine dining kind of place. Prices felt more on the higher side. We tried the guanaco bruschetta and the slow cooked lamb roll. The guanaco bruschetta was good.. i tried guanaco for the first time but it felt less. I wasnt a big fan of the lamb roll. It was juicy but I dont like such preparation. I think my expectation didnt match up. The waiter forgot my lemonade and the service seemed kinda slow. We also got 2 glasses of malbec.. very smooth malbec but 8000 pesos for a glass felt expensive!

This place is a pleasant surprise The atmosphere was nice, small & pretty. The please has its story which is cool. The food was very good. There’s plenty options gluten free from pasta to beers & you name it. Staff is nice. Great experience

Over-priced!!! This is too much guys. Highest price in town. 1) skirk steak : we ordered medium. This us not medium. Far behind well done. Couldnt possibly chew with human teeth. 38.000 2) lamb : lamb was okay! But too over priced for its value. 42.000 So disappointed.. :( No idea for high review.

Ate here last night having arrived in Argentina that afternoon. The restaurant was in an old barn and, according to menu, was started by Irma, the granddaughter of a Finnish immigrant who arrived in Argentina in 1914. Apparently the barn was moved from its original location on a sled (hard to imagine given its size, but OK!). For starters we had “langostinos y brócoli al gin” (prawns and broccoli in local gin), and “salchicha parrillera de guanaco” (Guanaco grilled sausage). For mains we had “Sorrentinos de limón en salsa de mar al azafrán” (Lemon sorrentinos in saffron seafood sauce), and “raviolones de cordero” (lamb raviolones). Fantastic food. Fantastic waitress. Excellent introduction to Argentina.

One of the best meals I’ve had in Argentina! The whole menu is gluten free and healthy, but it’s tasty even for those who eat gluten. As someone with Celiac Disease, it was very exciting to get to eat the rolls they served on the table and handmade ravioli. Staff were super nice too.

We ordered the lamb for two which was more than enough for three. Unfortunately it was mostly bones and little lamb. We’d heard good things from our guide but overall the meal was quite disappointing.

This place offers huge sharing platters. Please listen to your server and DO NOT order more platter than they suggest. The food is delicious but it is easy to over order as you do not realise how massive each dish will be!!

I spent 3 nights at El Calafate and had all 3 dinners here. We tried the chicken plough, fish plough, and steak. All 3 were delicious and the restaurant itself was beautiful. Prices are as of September 2025

I guess our expectations were too high. Anyways, we had seafood plough and it was disappointing. First, the ingredients weren't fresh. I get that the seafood around here is hard to get but their textures were old and smoosh and even vegetables weren't fresh except half of the potatoes. I say half of the potatoes because only the other half looked fresh when they were brought out. And I am not a picky eater, but the sauce was literally soy sauce.

These authentic and giant dishes were amazing! My husband and I shared the classic chicken disc and it was so big! The free bread was delicious!! The live music was nice but came on a bit late. The lighting was a bit too bright . Otherwise it would have been a five star experience. Loved the wine room where you choose your own wine.

We arrive herencia for the good rating of Maps, and I was really great. We asked for a customozed versión of the seafood disco. Incredible.

They mainly have stews, which depends on your palate. I didn't like it much, but my partner loved it. But the service was excellent.

The Argentine bife was beautiful, the cordero was beautiful, the seafood pizza was beautiful and the risotto was, you guessed it, beautiful. It took almost half an hour for the food to come out but it was worth the wait.

Never had a pasta this bad, just tasted like tasteless dough, as if they forgot to cook the pasta in salt water, and the pesto just barely had the taste as well. On the other hand, they put all the remaining salt in the risotto, it was so salty that we can only pick the seafood and eat it, leaving the rice behind. I really don’t understand how do they get such high rating where there food is so failed. Service and atmosphere is okay, but I would advise you to save your money and tummy to eat somewhere else.

Decent pizza, though nothing particularly memorable. If you’re dining with two people, go for the large size with eight slices—it’s not huge, but it gets the job done. Pricing is typical for El Calafate, which unfortunately means it’s on the expensive side. Paying 29,000 pesos (around $25 USD) for a single pizza is steep—more than what you’d spend in Miami, where I’ve lived for over 14 years. It’s honestly getting out of hand. Since I opted for takeout, I can’t comment on the service or in-house dining experience.

Amazing restaurant!! The price is fair and the pizza was delicious. I ordered mussarela pizza and asked them not to put a lot of cheese. Staff was friendly. The chocolate ice cream was so so good!!!

Great and not so expensive place! I totally recommend the lamb risotto, it is really super tasty. The steaks are very good and the wine was awesome. The only bad thing was the dessert, we had the Cheeseboard with quince and it was only one type of cheese and not a good one. The service was ok but not the most attentive.

Hearty meal. I got a speghatti in arabiatta sauce with lots of veggies. I did ask for mushrooms instead of the meat, but it may have been lost in translation (quite literally :)). My husband ordered a caprese pizza because they didn't have chicken or beef in house, which we found odd. My speghatti was quite rubbery and the texture was off a bit, but I finished it as I was ravenous. The pizza was delicious. The service was very friendly and tried their best to explain the menu and what's available but it was a bit slow. For desert we ordered flan which did not meet my husband's flan standards as it was missing the cooked caramel sauce and he said it was eggy. Maybe an off night for them. Other than some food issues I liked the place as it was friendly, staff was nice and atmosphere was fun.

They tried to fool us. We ordered rib eye, They served a very hard steak, they cut the meat to look like a rib eye. They covered the cut with some vegetables. When we complained, they immediatelly excused and did not charge us. But… too late. Place is very smoky, insuficient exhausting from the oven

Come for the wine and view but avoid the lamb. Absolute tourist trap. I don’t even know where to begin. We were seated 5 mins before anyone even acknowledged us again to give us the menu after flagging someone down. The bread was inedible (see video). The lamb for 2 are the scraps you’d feed the dogs as another reviewer said. It should have been a red flag when they didn’t specify what cuts they were as they do in other restaurants. A further look at the menu you’ll see there’s no mention of lamb racks, chops or leg of lamb which makes one think they purchase the leftover cheaper cuts from the butcher…and judging by what was served to us further backs that up. I guess we should have expected it for less than $50,000 for the lamb for 2. Service was friendly enough but we can’t overlook the fact that we asked for chimichurri two times (after the server was the one who asked if we wanted it first) and still we didn’t get by the end of the meal. We tried to flag him down again but it was almost as if he was actively avoiding us at that point. As for the flavour of the food itself…I can’t remember the last time I used table salt for a meal in a restaurant before. And out of the 4 stalls in the women’s washroom, not one was fully functioning. Either faulty door that didn’t close at all, didn’t flush (2) or simply locked from the inside, so completely unusable. View was great but don’t be fooled by the ratings.

Placed atop a beautiful vista overlooking El Calafate, Don Pichón offers a unique and truly Argentine vibe with the best parillas. A beautiful wine selection and the best chimichuri in the area. What’s not to love?

The best steak I’ve ever had. On point super good portion. The lamb was also outstanding. I recommend to skip the starters as the portions are generous. Our only recommendation is to provide better training to waiters in terms of wine, our waiter was not able to describe the wines on the menu. We chose a torrentes as it’s the thing to drink in Argentina when you like white wines and we were lucky it was good one.

One of the best steaks we had in Argentina! Our favorite was the Ojo de bife (translation in English says it’s sirloin, but I’m pretty sure it’s a ribeye). Delicious and tender piece of meat that comes with chimichurri. The place has a great view of Lago Argentino and we loved the upscale ambiance. There’s lots of tables and it seems they were able to seat tables immediately through the night.

We ate here as a couple. The food is nice in our view and well priced for the area which is generally expensive. I agree with some reviews - there were several large groups which did impact the service and made it quite noisy. Is it a toursit trap? Well, if you call this one then every single establishment in this town is a tourist trap - at the end of the day El Calafarte only exists for tourism! If you want real Argentina go somewhere like Salta.

Me and my friend were one of the 3 groups eating here at that time. The staff were very friendly and accomodating! They even practiced their french with us! We ate here during the month of May (winter season) so it was very cold. Even inside the resto. The servings were big! I think a plate can be shared by 2-3 ppl 😅 The only downside was that bcos the interior is cold, we get to enjoy our warm food for 5mins. I hope they can have some fireplace inside.

The best restaurant in EL calafate. We love everything here. Grilled lamb is the best. Crispy outside and juicy meat inside. Risotto lamb is so delicious too. Very tender lamb inside and the taste is so good. Service is really good here too.

A very friendly atmosphere. The waiter Pablo was very knowledgeable of his wine and recommended 2 good bottles that paired perfectly with our plate.

Wonderful Argentinian barbeque experience. Special mixed BBQ platter for two has tasty variety of beef cuts, sausages in generous quantity that is a challenge for two to complete. A delicious salad side with greens, Malbec soaked pears, blue cheese and salmon. Speaking of Malbec, five pages at least just of Malbecs on the wine list - no need to go further. Expert assistance from the waiter, led us to Los Nobles, from Luigi Bosca - one of leading wine makers in Argentina. A bit of a splurge, but the wines were priced so low comparably to North America, made it a good time to do so. Wonderful full bodied wine with long finish that stood up to the BBQ. A wonderful selection of desserts, some Argentinian specialities. The crepes with dolce de Luce, coupled with a cappuccino finished the meal nicely after the protein loading BBQ. Service was excellent. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

I’ve heard ravings about the lamb grill and was so excited to finally try some awesome Argentinian asado. We ordered the grilled meat for 4, which is supposed to include the lamb. We had a server who was very brusque, and the most unfriendly server I’ve had during the 8 day trip in Argentina so far. When he brought the meat out, he didn’t give us any explanation as to what meats they were, even though one of us spoke perfect Spanish. We didn’t think to ask, but as we continued eating, we realized we didn’t see any lamb meat. We asked the server and he said it was on top, so we must have eaten it already. But none of us remembered eating lamb (we can tell lamb and beef apart). I looked back to my photos and videos and asked another server which piece from the video was the lamb and he looked perplexed, then pointed to the beef on the bottom of the grill plate. Then promptly ran away. He did point out the lamb intestines, which were already knew. Anyway, as the video shows, we were pretty much cheated out on the lamb. After looking at other reviews photos, I can see we definitely didn’t. As for the rest of the grilled meats. The sweet bread was quite good, but everything else was bleh. We asked for medium, and the cuts on the bottom of the plate was completely well-well done, without any pink whatsoever. Intestines 25.000 dish with intestines grilled perfectly. Sausage Really good Chicken Milanesa Very, very good. Fried breaded thin piece of chicken. Fried papas - delicious Paid water is actually not really bottled water, but tap water in refillable bottles. So anyway, overall, left feeling cheated out - as tourists or something. Malbec by the glass was 7,5,000 and not bad. Patagonia beer was good beer. Oh, and I don’t know whether the server didn’t like me or something… but worth 6 of us in our table, with three sitting on each side. Hany and I were on the right side facing each other. Even though the meat platter was for 4, we also ordered intestines, a Milanesa, and sausage, more than enough for the six of us. For some reason, our server put ALL the meats between the four people sitting to our left (we were seated most to the right) and just gave me my salad in front of me. It was some weird table setting and quite inconvenient.

Nice comfortable atmosphere and the waitresses are friendly. Apparently, they are famous for their lamb dishes, but don’t get the salmon it’s not fresh. Supposedly it’s served with asparagus, but they just take one stock and cut it in half to decorate the dish.

Great place for dinner in El Calafate! The service was polite, informative, and prompt, the restaurant was nicely decorated and had live music and dancing, which really brought it to life. The guanaco casserole was well seasoned and the guanaco was tender and easy to eat, unlike some other restaurants' guanaco preparations. Creme brulee was also well executed. Trout was a little bland.

Whilst in El Calafate we decided to go to Mako Fuego y Vinos to celebrate our anniversary. We actually had some people tell us that they didn’t like this place very well but we went ahead. The first welcoming was not the expected, the reservation was written in a piece of folded up paper and no mention whatsoever of that was our anniversary. Oh well. They took us to our table and presented us with a tablet each to look at the menu… a lot of technology here but not for the reservations… weird… Anyway we made our selections. We received the trio of breads, a brioche, one of wagyu fat and a fine herbs. Good but not wow. For the amouse bouche we were presented with Pate, butter, grape, tomato cherry and false caviar of beetroot. It was tasty and well executed, but no soul at the moment. Good techniques but without a purpose really. We had a Wagyu Empanada. It was a good idea but not the best use of Wagyu as a ragu. It was ok but not distinguishable from all the other meat empanadas in the whole of Argentina really. We followed with the Lamb Sweetbreads with Pumpkin pure and lamb Toffee and a potatoe croquette. The sweetbreads were awesome, but there was too much pure that made it sweet and the toffee was overpowering for the sweetbread… As my main I had a Chorizo steak which was excellent and cook to doneness requested, the mash potato was very good as well, but again the Lamb demiglase was too sweet and overpowered everything, so I left it and ate the rest. I ordered as well the “famous” Mako Potatoes. It was a good idea but poor execution. The lamb stock was too much of it and too strong for the dish and the bacon was undercooked for this dish, it should have crunch to it. My girlfriend ordered the Spinach Agbolotti with Peas and Habas sauce which was good. The parmesan foam had too little parmesan, and was a little bland. The ideas are there but something lacks overall. There is no soul to the dished, and the lamb stock is used in excess and is too strong for the majority of the dishes. Service, the hostess and the initial waiter were appalling but then we had a couple other waiters which were good. It is a pretty place but not on our top 5 of El Calafate!

Definitely one of the nicest places in town for an over the top gourmet meal. Service and ambiance is exceptional, paired with live music. The food is great, however there is a lot of "fluff" to make it pretty which I found tasteless and bland in addition to it being used over and over almost on every dish. Aside from that, the actual food was delicious.

We stumbled upon Mako and were intrigued by the exciting menu. We were not disappointed with any of our choices. We started with a dish which set the bar unbelievably high = trucha tartar con langostinos 😋 We each had a rib eye for our main, cooked to perfection (wife likes well done, and I prefer "azul"). Both came out beautifully. We had the ensalada al chacra was a nice mix of flavors and accompanied our steaks perfectly. Lastly, our choice of dessert choice was "pears with 2 wines". Such a unique dish and refreshing after our meal. I could have eaten 5 of these desserts by myself alone 😂 The service was impeccable. Everyone was very professional and knowledgeable of the menu and very attentive to the details. P. S. - a very good selection of wines as well. Highly highly recommended!

A little pricey, but excellent food, service, and presentation of food. Makes the dinner feel like an experience. The wagyu empanadas were just ok, but the ribeye steak was absolutely amazing as well as the pear dessert. The wine was very good too. The crunchy sticks that are at the table when you are seated weren’t too good either, but the assortment of bread they served was delicious.

I did not expect to find such a treat here in El Calafate. Just days before, I had eaten at some of Argentina’s most famous steakhouses, such as Fervor, Elena, La Cabrera, La Carnicería, and others, and only two days earlier, at Don Julio. Yet Mako Fuegos y Vinos impressed me the most. It is easily one of the best steakhouses in the world. The ribeye special was exquisite, perfectly cooked, tender, and full of depth and balance. It had a more European touch than the usual Argentine style, which made every bite refined and unforgettable. The wagyu empanadas are a must-get as well, delicate and rich with remarkable flavor. Every dish was presented with artistry and care. The staff were vibrant, kind, and full of charm, which made the evening warm and joyful. My only regret is that my photos turned out terrible and did not do the food justice, so I will not be including them as this is a meal best remembered in person. Mako deserves to be known on the world stage. The food, service, and presentation are truly Michelin star quality. A wonderful surprise in Patagonia and, without a doubt, the best steakhouse restaurant in El Calafate, if not in all of Argentina.

Wonderful experience in Mako! Had a best grilled lamb, and really enjoyed its pure taste and tenderness. Feel at home, the restaurant owner even delivered dishes to my table and invited me to their back of house, grill center!

I’ve been in Patagonia for the last two weeks and getting back home in a few days. I can undoubtedly say that the gastronomic experience I’ve had in this establishment has become one of the highlights of my trip. The quality of the dishes (I had the Lomo steak and my wife the Seafood casserole), the exceptional service and attention are and will simply be unforgettable. I recommend without an ounce of hesitation.

Nothing short of the best restaurant in El Calafate. Professional level of hospitality, excellent selection of Malbecs and overall very delicate. We sampled various restaurants in the area and came back to Mora. For a matter of fact, we were so delighted by our visit to Mora, we decided to switch hotels and stay at the Xelena. Beautiful view on El Calafate city and excellent Patagonico Cordero (Lamb) as well as beef and fish. If you are looking to eat decently, this is the closest to fine dining in all of El Calafate. Much recommended!

My favorite restaurant in El Calafate! Highly recommend the Osobuco and the ravioli. Both were very flavorful and amazing presentation. The restaurant also has a very nice atmosphere and decorations. For helpful feedback - it is hard to find an online menu, and washing hands should be mandatory if you are a serving after using the male washroom.

We wanted to try guanaco and it was very delicious. Our waiter adviced us to choose the “guanaco in three different ways” and it was a very good way of trying guanaco for the first time. Would definitely recommend trying it out.

We came here by recommendation of our AirBnB host, and wow did it not disappoint! Everything we ordered was delicious, high quality, and enjoyable. Worth the few blocks walk off the beaten path for this excellent meal. Staff was very friendly and kind.

We just rounded up our patagonia trip and this is one of our best meals we had in Chile and patagonia. My partner discovered it through ChatGPT😅 since we are staying at Hotel Kosten Aiken. It is outside the center but still walkable to reach it. The place is cozy and homey. I specially enjoyed osso buco while my partner enjoyed the pork steak even though he is actually not a pork eater. 😊😀 this is really een aanrader if you are in el Calafate!

Really comforting meal at mi rancho where we both got pasta. I got the gnocchi and also tried the crab ravioli. Decor was really cozy and really enjoyed this restaurant off the main road.

Food was just ok. Not amazing. The atmosphere is nice, like a ranch. The waiter was kind and courteous. The owner stays in the back counter (in the register), and never offers to help much (a bit strange). Would not recommend it if you're only going to have 1 or 2 dinners in El Calafate.

Very good place specializing in “Cordero Patagonico” like the vast majority of restaurants in El Calafate. We started with Lamb Empanada and Meat cut with knife Empanada. Both very good and tasty. We followed with Lamb which was awesome and my girlfriend had a Lamb Pasta which was good, but tasted too much of alcohol, as in the wine as not cooked enough to liberate the alcohol. The service was good, but at one point the waiter went from present to over friendly. We paid 98000 pesos in total. Acceptable for what we had, but can be considered expensive for the Argentinean reality. It is a good place to go and eat in El Calafate.

Mi Viejo is a popular restaurant, so reservations are recommended. We attempted a walk-in at opening time, but all tables for two were reserved. We tag teamed with another couple and shared a table for four, making some new friends along the way. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the restaurant has a great atmosphere. The food was good: we ordered the lamb to share between two, and had the cauliflower dish and potato gratin as sides.

We dine in this restaurant and overall we stayed happy. The service was exceptional good and the atmosphere was really friendly and warm. The food was fine but a bit overpriced in the main courses comparing to other Parrilla restaurants with more tasteful plates. The wine was great and there is a huge list with many wine labels to choose from

Mi Viejo is easily one of the best restaurants in El Calafate. The Chorizo- pork sausages and the lamb steak were incredibly tasty, and the Malbec wine was the perfect match. A special thank you to Gustavo, who made our evening truly unforgettable. Highly recommended!

We reserved at this restaurant to celebrate our friend’s birthday and were really looking forward to a nice evening. When we arrived our server Ariel greeted us warmly and made a good first impression. However as the evening went on things unfortunately took a different turn. We were a group of four and ordered a bottle of bubbles yet not a single glass was poured for us. I ended up serving everyone myself even though the restaurant was not busy at all. We also chose to share our dishes so that everyone could try a bit of everything but Ariel seemed visibly unimpressed and even rolled his eyes. One of our sides was forgotten and only brought to the table once I had already finished my main course which was quite disappointing. To make things worse when we finished our meal I asked if he could please check the reservation note as we had mentioned we were celebrating our friend’s birthday as a surprise. Instead of handling it discreetly Ariel asked out loud whose birthday it was which completely spoiled the surprise we had planned. The food itself was good nicely presented and the quality was there but the service really let the experience down. We expected a more attentive and thoughtful approach especially for a special occasion. We left the discretionary service charge even though we honestly did not feel like doing so. We just hoped our feedback helps improve the service for future guests.

Originally we entered just to have a snack and ordered warm lentils as a starter. They were so delicious that we ordered one more thing: ravioli with beef stew. That was delicious too. With those two things wevwere full. The service was very good and the restaurant has nice interior. I could recommend it.

Cozy restaurant with a great service, but pasta is pretty average. If you are looking for a big meal after a long day - this place is what you need, but if you are looking for a great Italian food, this place might disappoint you.

We went in to this restaurant at 8 o’clock, a little before prime time in Argentina, and we were able to get a table for two right away. They are known for their different pasta, tasting menus, and that’s what I have, three types of pasta with different sauces. We started with the vegetable soup, which was not my favorite soup, a bit flavor, less but pleasant on a cold night in Patagonia. My husband had a steak, which he seem to enjoy quite a lot and I wasn’t in love with the pasta tasting menu, I found the sauce is very heavy and not particularly flavorful, but the pasta is more properly cooked. Our server was very pleasant and friendly and you get a plate of stale bread with hummus spread before your meal starts.

La Cocina has the absolute best steak I have had in my life. When I came to Argentina, I was very excited about the reputation for delicious, quality beef. I went to five restaurants, and the only one that met expectations was La Cocina. The meat was cooked beautifully: somehow crispy on the outside yet soft, tender, and juicy on the inside. I wish I had just come back here four more times instead of trying the other restaurants. La Cocina is where it is at!

The pasta was good, but the accompaniments need a lot more work. We ordered many dishes with varieties of mushrooms, and they were all hard or chewy, with woodsy bits. It's possible other dishes are better, but our experience was disappointing and dinner felt overpriced.

Food and atmosphere is not bad. Restaurant got full around 9pm. Staffs are friendly and food didnt take too long as mentioned in their menu about made to order in the kitchen. The pasta tasting is pretty popular, saw many tables having it.

We had the foundue combo, both were delicious although the albergines in the cheese and the pears in the chocolate were a bit too soft. We also had the pea soup with bacon and a southern salad. The atmosphere is great and we even had a chance to watch a tango show! The service was good although a bit slow because servers were paying more attention to their phones than the tables.

We went here because we saw it was supposed to be a good place according to TripAdvisor but we were really dissapointed. We ordered two dishes, the lamb risotto and the Malfattis and they both were way to salty!! Unfortunatley we had eaten to much of it when we realized we would not be able to finish it due to the salt so we couldn’t return. Although we did bring it up with the waiter when asked us about the food. The reply we got was that they were so sorry, and that was pretty much it. There was nothing to make up for this in any way which to me is bad customer service. This together with the bad good have it an ovarall bad experince. I wouldnt go back here again, neither would i recommend the place to anyone. Pick a different place i would say because the food was to overhyped according to us

While the restaurant boasts lovely aesthetics and a charming garden, our experience fell short of our expectations. We opted for the fondue sequence, and unfortunately, the cheese fondue was overly wine-heavy, leaving us quite disappointed. We initially attributed this to a possible chef's one time mistake and avoid complaining, but encountering another review with the same complaint suggests this may be a recurring issue. On the contrary, the chocolate fondue was absolutely delightful, as was the ensueño tea. The service also required improvement. We arrived 15 minutes before our 8:00 pm reservation, the restaurant was still closed. While waiting in the garden as instructed, we observed another couple arrive later than us and be immediately welcomed inside by the waiter, despite him being aware of our presence. This oversight felt inconsiderate: considering we were waiting outside for quite some time, we felt the waiter should have warned us as soon as the restaurant opened.

A perfect place to stay when in El Calafate! The rooms are lovely, showers are powerful and the hosts are wonderful!

If I could have been able to give 10 stars I would have done it! Stayed in Kau Kaleshen for 2 nights. Booked via Booking, after which the staff contacted me quickly and offered their help with anything that I needed help with. They advised me on transport from&to the airport and on the tour to Perito Moreno to be booked. Since my flight was uncertain they assisted me with all the things to do before my arrival. Honestly, Lionel, Agus and Aly must have a degree in Costumer Service……I cannot get over how they have done everything to make my stay there more comfortable!! I do travel a lot (for work) but have never experienced this before, even in 5* hotels! Location of Kau Kaleshen is perfect, right in the centre of El Calafate, but fortunately in a quite street. I think the prices are very reasonable. The rooms are located around a quite court, are just what you need and clean. It came with breakfast, again…just what you need before going on a trip. They can also supply you with various lunch boxes, so you don’t have to worry about organising that yourself. The restaurant is part of the Hosteria and offers various local dishes of high quality. It is very comfortable to be able to eat there, and you can count on good quality. I honestly don’t see any reason nót to recommend this place, felt extremely welcome!

It is very difficult to spoil trout, but this place managed to do it. It tasted awful, even as if it had been spoiled. I was disappointed that I didn't have a proper meal and paid so much money for tasteless fish.

what a disappointment!! The restaurant is off the street and it took us a while to find it. It was empty, but we decided to give it a try. The pizza that we ordered was not cooked at all. It was loaded with burnt onions and peppers and we couldn’t even see the sauce or the cheese. We told our Server who refused to replace it. Will not go there again.

Lovely pasta. great flavor and delicious white wine. I didn't understand the waiter.she said the tap water it's not healthy but she can offered filtered water,at least what I understand tal water its free any place you go. We had the panzotti calabaza and spaghetti negro, both were excellent. The restaurant itself has a range of outdoor and indoor seating. We also had the finca iral rose wine. You also get a 10% discount paying by cash (they accepted USD). Loved the food and service!

Lovely outdoor dining area, one enclosed dining room, and one dining area that’s close to the kitchen to see the action and opens to the outdoors. Choose the one that suits you. The real star of this restaurant is the pasta. Green spaghetti is unique and wonderfully crafted, and while the ‘choose your sauce’ option sounds like typical Alfredo, Bolognese, etc., the preparation is exceptionally good. Each pasta dish is served piping hot and presented on a wooden board covered by a metal dome. The great reveal is done with a flourish that matches the deliciousness of the dish. We loved this place so much, we went back on another night. Sooo good!!

Solid place with an ice cream stand, a chocolate shop, some seating and I think there was another shop. I enjoyed what I got, I think I got pistachio and Patagonian chocolate.

I stopped by for a hot chocolate per chat GPT recommendations , which turned out to be very sweet. The flavor itself wasn’t bad, but I wouldn’t say the chocolate was truly outstanding or unforgettable. However, if you’re looking for aesthetic little chocolate candy shapes (like little sheeps), this is definitely the place to buy them — they do look charming and make for a cute gift. Other than that, there wasn’t really anything special about the spot. It’s fine for a quick stop, but not necessarily a must-visit in my opinion.

Understaffed I asked for a coffee at 2 pm and the lady said she couldn’t make me one because they were busy and they were only 2 people I said I was able to wait but still she didn’t want to do it. I don’t think is her fault I really think 2 people is not enough for a place like that you see them running around all day hopefully they get paid good money.

Very solid ice cream and decent chocolates. Straight down the fairway, but not mind-blowing. I got the passion fruit and calafate ice cream and an assortment of chocolates.

Above average ice cream gelato shop but not especially unwise. Domo Blanco in El Chalten was better. The other half of their shop sells chocolate, liquors and jams. Didn't try them but the entire town seems to sell a standard type of chocolate and jams.

The Patagonia chocolate was good but the senior staff was very rude.

It’s a very happy place, you can feel it from the interior, the music, the posts about football and the attitude of the staff, good vibes! I’ve order the Guanaco dish, turns out to be really good, especially the bread. We bought also cold cuts from here, good quality stuff, enjoyed it a lot.

We were very happy with the quality of food, portion sizes and menu prices. Service was fine too, no complaints there. The main negative was that they snuck in a $3000 table charge fee on the bill. I don't know what the exact wording was and it doesn't show on the receipt but it was something along those lines. I'm not sure if that was a fee for the "free" bread starter or something else entirely (like a tourist tax type of deal), but we were both very put off by this fee. Again, it wasn't much and we wouldn't have minded paying for the appetizer if we knew (if that's what the fee was for), but trying to sneak it in at the end was pretty dirty and would make me unlikely to return.

A more budget friendly place as compared to other restaurants on the main stretch. I ordered the guanaco stew which was strangely served in a bread. It would hv been better if it was in a bowl as all the gravy seeps into the bread and affects the dish. I shd have tried the braised guanaco with carrot puree as it looked better. Also mistakenly mistook the calafate beer as the one in Chile (Austral) but it was ok. It's a sweet beer as cautioned by the server. Was served by a young lady that spoke good English.

I tried the lamb with potatoes here it was probably the best lamb I've ever had. Totally unexpected from a chill nonchalant bar. Definitely recommend it!

Lovely place for good Beer and good food. We paid 50,000 pesos for 4 pints and 2 main course of lamb, delicious. It is slightly outside of the main street, but worth walking 5 more minutes

La Posta has a nice upscale feel to it with pretty decorations and a pleasant atmosphere. Service was friendly and helpful, but not the fastest. The food was good, but not fantastic, with the guanaco being well seasoned but quite chewy and the apple cake a little unsatisfactory. Prices were also a little high for the area. Not a bad restaurant by any means, but you can find better in El Calafate.

Chimmichurri and lamb are by far the best we had yet in 4 weeks in Argentina. Beautiful restaurant with excellent food and at the same time cheaper compared to places downtown. Tomohawk was like $15 USD and was AMAZING. Go here!! I recommend calling a few hours ahead to make a reservation.

The food not mind blowing, but pretty good. The menu includes some options for vegetarians and vegans but the main part of the menu is meats and fish. While they do have gluten free items, they call them "celiac friendly", not "safe for celiacs" as there is only one kitchen. I have celiac's disease and felt pretty safe after how they explained their process, but still felt bad after the meal so I think there was some contamination. Would therefore not recommend for celiacs.

Had dinner which had some marvellous tataki tuna which was outstanding. My partner had the grilled chicken which was a little overcooked but the grilled veg was great. Overall price was really good value and we would definitely go again.

Went to celebrate my birthday. Good food! Everything I had from the menu was tasty, but not mind blowing. The cordero was my favorite. Least palatable thing was the service unfortunately. Really wanted to like this place but the table service really ruined it. I feel like I spent more time looking around for my waiter than enjoying the exaggeratedly spaced out dishes. Dinner took so long I was falling asleep. Really! ;/ Set your expectations high for the food and low for the service, that way you won't be disappointed.

This was one of the best meals we’ve had in Argentina so far. We came around 8 pm with no reservations, but I recommend coming earlier or making a reservation as some groups were turned away after us. We ordered the grilled lamb, lamb with hummus and mushrooms, roasted vegetables, and pumpkin potatoes. It was definitely way too much food for $40! The grilled lamb is great for 2 to share along with some sides. I loved the roasted veggies but not a big fan of the pumpkin. The grilled lamb was incredible, best I’ve ever eaten, just falling off the bone and very tender. Great experience.

This Cafe is an excellent place to grab a small bite to eat. And it’s an excellent place to get work done (using laptop) the wifi is a bit inconsistent goes out and then comes back in. But overall a nice vibe. A lot of tourist visit this place. The washrooms are also clean. Food- is great like I mentioned small portions. Drinks- great variety of coffees.

Cool vibes. Centrally located. Variety of flavors- tried Calafate and chocolate patagonico. The chocolate is rich and smooth/ not too sweet. Place is clean. I will return to try other flavors and buy some chocolates. I took 1 star - staff can be friendlier esp if it’s super slow. They don’t even offer other flavors when asked which is the bestseller. They also don’t know the ingredients of the product they’re selling. When asked…. “Asi viene de fabrica”.

EXTREMELY RUDE staff and average ice cream. Avoid at all cost!! The lady was incredibly rude and unhelpful. When we asked to sample the ice cream flavors, she was impatient and requested us to pay before trying any. We paid for a small cup that included two flavors and requested to sample two flavors. Unfortunately, both flavors we tried were too sweet. When we asked about trying a third flavor, we were told that we could sample a maximum of two, despite having already paid. This is so unfair to customers, especially since our order only allowed for two flavors. Additionally, her demeanor was off-putting; they sneered at us while handing over the testers. Ultimately, we chose the berry and chocolate flavors, but both were disappointingly average. I strongly recommend avoiding this place unless you want to pay overpriced rates for mediocre ice cream and endure rude treatment from the staff. We have been having a great experience in calafate EXCEPT from this shop.

Great ice cream with great portion and tasty. I (pathetically) bought the kid cone (one flavor) 3 stars because 1) they don’t allow to try the flavors before purchase 2) only allow to try two flavors after purchase but didn’t tell me in advance. 1) is okay because of the free riders problem 2) I don’t like, have never experienced, and suspected it’s personal instead of an actual policy. Quality is great, but delivery matters, too

Definitely worth a stop if you’re in Patagonia. Cute little environment and the ice cream is delicious. For some reason when you’re in a place like this the foods just taste better. I think it’s the idea you may not have access to it on your next hike. Highly recommended and FYI they have Wi-Fi if you wanted to get it.

Delicious geltao with a ton of variety. You order your size on the left (small or big cup, or various cone sizes) and that will usually mean you get 2 flavours. After ordering the size and paying, you hand your slip over to those in front of the gelato counter and order. Cheaper than stuff closer to center of town, this is my favourite spot. I went daily.

Enjoyed our gelato here multiple times. Calafate flavor was good, to be expected, but many other flavors including Dulce de leche, glacier cream, and ‘chocolate Patagonia” were all good.

Was very disappointed with my meal here. Everything on the menu is very expensive but as is most places around this area, however for what I actually got for the amount of money is a joke. I ordered the veggie burger al Plato which was 21 euro and all it consisted of was a single burger patty and tiny piece of side salad. Pretty extortionate for the price and had no flavour so was a small tasteless meal. The guy serving was nice but wouldn’t recommend the food

We were able to sit outside as it was such a nice day. Friendly waiter. The portion sizes were HUGE; the smaller pizza option would be a large pizza for most people. We have an 18 year old son who can eat for England & even he said that the smaller one would have probably been too large for him. Before seeing the sizes, he ordered a full pizza that said it had egg on it - it arrived and was enormous- 8 slices and each one had a fried egg! The sandwich we had would also feed two people easily! Other tables had burgers which looked amazing too! So we now have a takeaway for another meal because it was great food!

Despite the language barrier, the staff was exceptionally friendly, and our waitress made a commendable effort to help us navigate the menu. Our order was a bit off, likely due to the communication challenge, but the overall experience was positive. The pizza slices were surprisingly generous in size, though the taste leaned more towards bread than the traditional pizza base I'm accustomed to. Unsure if this is the Argentinian pizza style, but it was an interesting introduction for a first-timer in Argentina. On the flip side, the double shot coffee was a delightful burst of flavors, showcasing their expertise in coffee preparation. Observing other tables, it was evident that Pietro's offers enticing dessert options. While I found the food slightly above average, the standout was the warm and friendly service, coupled with a pleasant atmosphere. If you're in El Calafate and appreciate amiable staff and a cozy setting, Pietro's Cafe is worth a visit.

I find this place to be quite good and reasonably priced as everything else in the city is quite expansive. I didn’t like the empanadas but the chicken sandwich with avocado was delicious. I wish I had tried some sweets but maybe next time.

Don Luis was a perfect do-it-all panaderia with great pastries and perfect sandwiches to take away for lunches on our excursions, the bread was excellent. Great stop every morning!

The empanadas are priced well and so far the best i had. The chicken and beef ones are good and I believe any of them are good. Also tried the dulce de leche cake which was too sweet and heavy to my liking. Prices are different if you are dining in so takeaway if you wana save a bit.

We visited this great cafe several times. Very nice place to grab a cup of coffee and a tasty pastry or a cake. One of the times we ordered the Mate service which included mate cup and full thermos with hot water plus cookies in the side. We set there an hour and just relaxed. The place also suggests many different sandwiches and sweets they bake there. Empanadas were okay but I had better. The staff are very nice and welcoming.

The Black Forest and Apple pie were absolutely good but the cappuccino was little weak to my taste

The moment I walked into the shop, I was just amazed by the things I saw inside. There were so many things to choose from I was literally at a loss at what to pick. I realized this is probably the biggest branch of Don Luis in El Calafate because I actually walked past a smaller branch a few blocks away. Service could be improved. I was standing at the display shelf for quite a while the staff were chit chatting and didn't attend to me until a while later. Asked them for recommendations and I didn't like to hear the comment "everything is good", and only when I picked an item the staff said the one next to it was good. Eventually I decided to go with my feeling and picked a few of the items. Everything was packed nicely except for the lime tart which they tried to pack delicately, but as you walk out of the store, with the strong winds in El Calafate and the tart just swinging in all directions, the tart just looked disastrous when I got home. Was still good to eat but just too ugly for photos. The other pastries were pretty good too, am surprised I actually liked the empanadas from here. Worth a try.

If you are looking for a place to have breakfast or a snack, this is the ideal place. The attention is very good, the place is large and bright with a good atmosphere. We went to breakfast and snack several times and we always had a very good experience.The cappuccino is very tasty and you can order with dairy free milk. They also have the bakery sector where you can buy things to take away.

Price performance not good - Staff not attentive, waited 10min. to order and over 20 minutes to pay. Burger was average, steak too dry for medium. Paid 60$ for 2 drinks, 1 steak and 1 burger.

The overall dining experience was quite underwhelming. I specifically ordered a medium-well steak, but what arrived at the table was completely well-done. It was so overcooked that it turned dry, tough, and difficult to chew, which took away all the enjoyment. The pasta, on the other hand, was extremely bland and lacked any depth of flavor, almost as if it hadn’t been seasoned at all. Considering the restaurant was jam-packed that evening, I expected the food quality to match the popularity, but unfortunately, it fell far below expectations.

The slowest restaurant in town. Really simple order of 4 hamburgers must have taken over 45 minutes to deliver. Maybe I not used to this speed. 78000 total bill with no alcohol. Food was well prepared and tasty. House dog constantly walks between patrons looking for food. No reservations required.

Understandably overpriced (it's in the main street in the center of a town that lives off tourism), but rather overpriced nonetheless. The ambience has a nice decor, but it is jam full of tables to sit as many customers as they possibly can in the space, which is way more than the kitchen can handle, so you end up waiting for an hour for your food to arrive. And honestly, while not horrible, it is not worth the wait, nor the price they charge. Service is kind, especially considering all the long faces they get from people waiting and waiting for their food. The lamb in the lamb stew, which should be one of the place specialities, was chewy. The pumpkin soup was not bad, but severely lacked seasoning (and they don't even bring salt ad pepper, let alone oil, to the table when serving it. The trout with Roquefort sauce was actually nice, best dish we had, but too little to justify the wait and the bill.

Good atmosphere from the first point of view. But the service and food is awful. As well as wine and beer... Kitchen works very slow. The lamb was like it was cooked the day before and just heated up for us. The beef steak had the taste of a dirty pan and was really burned on its sides... Lettuce looked like it was waiting us for years...

Beautiful cute place. Didn't expect it to be so wonderful. The owner is friendly and does everything himself, even the cooking We had spinach empanadas and a blue cheese waffle. Spinach empanadas was heavenly. Crunchy crust and gooey spinach insides. When we cut it open, the treasure spills out Blue cheese waffle was such a savoury dessert. I never expected to have a savoury dessert. I am on diet and supposed to only taste a bit of each. In the end it's so good I finished the whole plate. Remember to try his hot sauce. I love the spice level, not too spicy but has a pleasant kick

If you don’t visit this place when you’re in El Calafate, did you even visit El Calafate? This place is so fantastic- so much so that I came on 2 consecutive days! The atmosphere is very cool- with great music, very friendly and super cosy. And a gorgeous interior with hand painted decorations. I had the dulce de leche waffle and hot chocolate which was fantastic, and on the 2nd night (in a row!) a couple who were here recommended the Lamb and Guanaco empanadas which were sooo good! I also had the Wok de arroz which was very tasty. And the Poincenot IPA beer from the region was a great choice too. I’m sad I can’t try more of the dishes here, I would highly recommend this place!

We wanted a sandwich and it was one of the best sandwiches I have tried in Argentina. We both ordered the Guanaco and one with chicken. They both tasted very good but I would definitely recommend the guanaco with bbq-sauce. We also ordered coffee which was very good as well.

Happy hour is NOT happy hour… We both ordered a different drink from the happy hour drinks. Both only got one drink, so thought it was these two for one (or discount). At the and had to pay full price for both drinks, cause they weren’t the same. So we didn’t both get 2 drinks, neither we payed half the price or discount… Staff is really friendly though!

I enjoyed this place a lot for the special (sugary) drinks they make, but I think if you don’t speak Spanish— the service is not as good? Or fast? My bf speaks Spanish so we didn’t have any issue, but noticed the other table didn’t get serviced for some time! I’d come back here. 2 stories and you can sit inside or outside! They have so many different food and drink options! My bf likes pure espresso more so he enjoyed Miles Coffee House more for the quality of coffee, but I liked this more for the lattes

Very nice smoked tomato soup for appetizer. Lamb as a main course was delicious. Service was perfect. Nice atmosphere and the views to the Lake Argentina spectacular. 5 out of 5. Definitely recommended 😊

Great service, views and fantastic food. We were here on Dec 27. The owner of this restaurant was very friendly and we(me and my wife) were seated immediately though we were early at 6:45PM(place opens at 7PM). To start with we ordered the provolone cheese and the house wine which was Malbec. Delicious. We suggested it to the people who came to our next table and they loved it too. The bread and the pumpkin dip which was provided at the start was great. For our main course I had the lamb and my wife went with fish. Both were good. But the highlight was the lamb. So tender and juicy. We finished the meal with Dulce de leche volcano with Calafate ice cream. One of the best desserts I had in our two weeks in Argentina. Though the restaurant is little bit outside the town go for the good views and food.

Not sure why the high rating unless this is a new cook and staff. Undercooked pizza, inedible mozzarella blobs in what looked like a dish designed for snails. Horrific food and dismal service. This one jumped the shark. RIP 20 Dec 2021

They have the yummiest vegan sorrentinos (Argentinian ravioli) here. The filling is made out of broccoli and the red sauce is very flavorful. It cost $11,200 ARS. Great place to eat on the way to or from the nearby beach.

I came here hungry when many other places were not open for an early lunch. Of the places open, La Chacrita had guanaco ravioli on the menu, which I was curious about. The meat was flavorful as was the sauce— very bold, very tasty. One of my favorite meals in El Calafate! It is a bit off of the beaten path and main road, but if you are able to make it over here, I would highly recommend! It is very close to the bird reservation, so doing the two together would make for a good set of activities!

Nice restaurant, very well located in front of the lake. We ate: pasta "guanaco 🦙 Sorrentino", it was great for that kind of difficult to cook meat. We also order a ham and cheese sandwich that was ok, a chicken sandwich that was below the expectations and a sandwich of "Bondiola trozada" (picture) that was excellent. Prices were ok. And yes, they gave us a discount if paying with cash.

We have wonderful tasting there. We were only me, my wife and our host Sebastian. He is very competent and we learn a lot about the local terroar and Argentinian wines. We have 5 wine tasting for two, but at the and we taste 5 different wines each, and so together 10 types plus some extra 3 wines. So i can say we taste 13 types of local Argentinian vine. I was also very impressed from the bread made with wine and no wather prepared from Sebastian we tried onsite. I highly reccomend visiting this store for anyone who enjoing tasting wines!

One of our best experiences in Calafate. The selection is excellent, but more than that we enjoyed the terrific service and support from Sebastian and the amazing staff. They made us feel welcome and provided a couple of memorable suggestions. The wines were iconic.

A truly personalized, beautiful, warm experience. The sommelier is extremely generous (with both his knowledge and his pours). I learned so much about Argentina and its wines. Every tasting was exquisite. And I tried many different kinds. Also tried some of the best olive oil I’ve ever had. And the sommelier’s homemade Malbec sourdough was a rare treat. It’s a lovely, large, comfortable place. So happy to take some beautiful, delicious souvenirs from here to represent my time in Patagonia.

We went in for a little tasting of Argentinian wines and came out 2 hours later and so much more knowledgeable. This was hands down the best wine tasting we’ve done! Highly recommend!

We had a 7 glass wine tasting with Sebastian. It was a pleasant experience as Sebastian is a friendly sommelier with a lot of knowledge and a sense of humor. Some bites are part of the tasting. Difference with many other wine tasting, we both got a different glass of wine everytime, so we tasted 14 wines in total! Costs are quite high compared to other wine tastings, but you'll get more service here.

I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to buy some Argentine wine. They also let you taste a few wines and then give recommendations based on your taste and budget. Awesome team.

Great place to discover amazing wines from all over Argentina including Patagonian wines. It is one block off the main street of Libertador so unless you wander around off the beaten path a bit or hear of it you might never know it's there but well worth finding!! The staff is very passionate and knowledgeable about wine and Argentine wines and regions in particular. Did a 7 wine tasting that came with a delicious picata plate. Can buy bottles of wines you taste on site and they can arrange shipping back home.

Good wine, good choripan, good meat cuts, nice chat with the owner. They also make a lamb stew made like a curry dish which we got to try and it was tasty and interesting. A little bit on the expensive side if you get a meat dish, but it includes a salad and potatoes.

Had the lomito and choripan - the food is absolutely delicious. The best part of this restaurant is that the owner, Fransisco, makes you feel right at home. The restaurant is small, cosy and feels very local. Highly recommended to anyone who wants a casual, yet delicious meal!

Don't let looks deceive you. This place is a gem. The meats were all excellent. I especially enjoyed the prime rib and the lamb. The chef and owner are both great characters and make for a very fun atmosphere. It is obvious that they love what they do. We went twice. The second time we struck up a nice conversation with the travelers beside us after we'd finished eating and drinking our wine. The owners kept bringing us all more wine and encouraging us to stay and have fun and not worry about it. They refused to charge us for the extra wine so we just left a big tip. Even saw the owner toss a couple cold cervezas to the local garbage collectors when they came around. Class act.

We had a really unique experience at the UCO Wine Shop. With limited space in our luggage, we were curious about wines from Patagonia and appreciated their thoughtful recommendations. While we were already familiar with Argentinian Malbecs, they introduced us to some excellent smaller wineries we wouldn’t have discovered otherwise.

I’ve been coming to Uco for 5 years (I work down here seasonally) and it truly feels like a home away from home. Mariano and Fernanda are such incredible humans—knowledgeable, patient, fun…I could go on. Whether you want to come for a glass of wine or a wine flight to enjoy the good music, yummy cheese boards and ambience, or to buy a bottle for takeaway, they will guide you with passion and zero pretension. Do not miss coming here while you are in Calafate

The wine tasting was not great. There was no way I was going to purchases any of the wines we were given to sample which was really disappointing. They weren’t bad but it seemed like more of a revenue thing than an experience for those into wine. Hard to know with the language barrier how knowledgable the service was, and if the time we were given was out of passion or just a sense that we would buy something. One of the purchases was thoroughly enjoyed later, the other not so much - good, just priced for much more in my opinion. Still glad we stopped.

Photographed is the lentil stew (?, looked like it was days old and was more of a microwaved mush) the Galileo salad, no dressing or black olives that are listed in the menu. My friend had the lentil burger and said it was good but a little dry. Bright side, beer was good and the place is cute. Walls are filled with books. But overall pretty disappointed in the food. Wood recommend for drinks, not for food.

Absolutely awesome vibe here!! Loved it from the outside and the inside was just even better. The staff were super friendly and very accommodating. They only had cocktails by the jug but they made me one just by the glass (apple cocktail)... SOOOOO GOOD!! The town had just received positive election news and everyone was in such a great mood! The restaurant is 15 minutes of walking from our hotel. My wife and I arrived at 6 pm and were able to get a table overlooking Largo Argentino. We ordered trout with stir fried vegetables and risotto with mushrooms and vegetables and a glass each of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The foods were delicious, the wines were good. The staff were friendly and were able to communicate with us in English. Overall, the price was very reasonable by US standards. Overall, it was a very enjoyable diining experience. An hour after the dinner, my mouth became very dry and I felt very thirsty, which were my typical reactions to food prepared with high MSG content. Because of this, I lowered the Food rating from 5 stars to 4 stars. I will still visit the restaurant again if I happen to be in town in the future, but I will tell the chef to skip the MSG.

Wow what an amazing dinner. My wife and I ordered the provoleta as an appetizers and the tomahawk to share. The provoleta was delicious and the Tomahawk was out of this world. Service on point and attentive the minute we walked in. the restaurant is just outside the town center. We had a rental car but definitely worth the taxi ride if you didn’t rent a car while in El Calefate.

Very nice setting, beautiful view, pleasant atmosphere and excellent service. The meats however were a major disappointment- we ordered a Parrilla and most of it was quite badly cooked; the lamb pieces were way over cooked and so was the beef steak, the short rib was not grilled well probably because it was not properly cut, and so on.

Not busy at 7, the waiter spoke English and Spanish, very tourist-oriented. The food was amazing, but a little expensive, as it is located in a tourist town. We got lamb, salmon, and trout. They had great appetizers. An overall amazing place.

I was very excited to eat at this place. The reviews are fantastic. It's really far from every where else. The waitress was wonderful. Her passion to serve was tip top. She's an elderly lady with elegant manners I ordered guanoco stew and steak. Guanoco pasta was wonderful. The meat is abit tough but you expect that from guanoco. The steak was dry. It was cooked just nice medium rare but was very dry. It tasted like it had been in the freezer for too long. Quite disappointed in this piece of steak . It was so sad, it couldn't cry even if it wanted to

Great views of the superb bird sanctuary Laguna Nimez. Food was delicious. The lamb agnoletti was amazing, lamb stew very good, guanaco pappadelle pretty good esp the home made pappadelle. Bottled water is outrageous but it's the norm in El Calafate it seems. House wine a little sweet for my taste. Rosado by the glass was better for me. I came here twice in 2 days for lunch after my visits to the bird sanctuary. Lovely waitresses.

We ordered lamb pot with potatoes. The meat was not good quality. When paying 41k peso for a dish, I would expect the meat to be delicious tender, clean of any veins, and just melting in mouth. Quite opposite. It was chewy and not cleaned properly. We lost appetite after a few bites. Empenadas were ok, service was ok.

Mostly Italian cuisine but also offer other items such as hamburgers, steak, baked potatoes. The food was well served and good sized portions. The steak was a bit too raw although we requested well done and medium rare. Otherwise, very tasty.

La Lechuzita is a restaurant where you can find both dishes to share, pizzas, hamburgueres and pastas. The service is fast and prices are fair, so it's a ideal for a dinner in the center of town of Calafate. We asked for the rib eye on the "plancha" with potato, to share. The meat was surprisingly good, and the potato, mashed with cheese inside, was really delicious.

They decided not to serve me. After looking at the menu, I proceeded to wait something like 30+ minutes while the wait staff passed many times and acknowledged me and my closed menu only to bus or check on other tables. After they sat and took orders from three parties that came in after me and then went back to busing, I left. I guess if you're young, white, and by yourself don't bother here. Shame, the food looked good.

The service was horrible. We waited for our soup and fish for over an hour and received it cold and tasteless. The waitresses was super rude . She argued with us about the food and took the food off the table aggressively . I wouldn’t recommend eating at this restaurant. If it wasn’t for the stale bread that was served I would have left the restaurant starving .

This is a nice restaurant/bar right off the main road! It was a recommendation after a glacier hike, to try a guanaco burger. I’m so glad I did. Service was fast and good, and the waitress helped with suggestions. The vibe is cute, I would come back and hang out. Very reasonable prices too.

We had a quick lunch here despite reading the recent negative reviews. Thankfully, we are happy to report that staff were friendly and service was prompt. Fries were good, and we enjoyed a glass of wine. The burger was okay, slightly dry but they provided some packets of condiments. The panini sandwich was our own negative experience as the cheese was not fully melted and the bread was not toasted. It was very dry as well and we chose not to finish it.

Nice little what seems to be a family run shop, very cheap food! Got the monster “Super Hamburguesa” that came with chips for $380ARS, very cheap for what you get. Saw some massive sandwiches coming out too and they seem to be quite cheap also. Great value for money!! Would recommend :)

After a long journey we had our first Argentinian dinner. We were surprised how excellent the food and wine was. The portions were big and quality high. A perfect start into our Argentina trip.

We arrived in El Calafate during siesta time. Not many restaurants are open. We were suggested to go to Mako which is on the main street. Food is great. We had good lunch.

Got a recommendation from a local, and it didn't disappoint . The burger and fries were really good, especially the crispy fries. The Trucha was over the top. The croquet de pollo were different but delicious. First time eating lamb with mushrooms, but it won't be the last.

The pizza was an embarrassment. Imagine someone trying to make a pizza who had never seen or eaten one before… The meat in the empanadas and the sausage in the choripan were bad quality. Only the fries were salvageable. All for quite a steep price. I don’t recommend anyone who knows how food should taste to eat here.

Really enjoyed the laid back experience even been twice. The empanadas con carne and the salsa were outstanding! Also took the chocolate cake but was overkill - way too big. If only was smaller

I had terrible experience today! Waited 30 minutes at lobby even sign says they supposed to open 30 minutes ago . But got kicked out sent to another restaurant, however another restaurant only open until 7pm. Even the sign says open at 5pm and the waitress also told us the night before they open tomorrow at 5pm, we finished cafe quickly just so we can came here 5pm to order drinks and cold meat to start with. But at 5.05pm the restaurant was still closed and blocked by some object, so we asked lobby receptionist if still open at 5pm and what happening now ? He said " yes 5pm, please just sit there and wait!" So we just quietly sit at lobby until 5.20pm, restaurant finally opened, so we sit in the corner waited to be served . However 10 minutes later someone finally came and told us we have to leave because they open at 6pm tonight, even the sign in front of the hotel says 5pm,.I asked cant we just sit here to wait for 6pm open? He said no, we have to leave and told us we can move to another hotel restaurant and come back at 6pm , what? Are you serious? We are here for afternoon snack drinks and dinner,.why we have to move to another restaurant opposite street and come back half hour later? Forget to mention the charge table fees 180pesos per person I was pretty upset, said we are ok to wait at pool area, can we stay please? Just Dont want to move around. He said no! And tonight they are full no table for me. So why cant you tell me earlier? Waited 40 minutes. So we went to another their hotel restaurant opposite street at 5.40pm lobby restaurant said the kitchen closed at 6.30pm but we are allow to stay until 7pm after 7pm we can move to the restaurant we came from!!!!! What? I cant believe my ear!!!! We felt like football kicked around by these 2 restaurants. Was very upset!!! We have some work to do at 7pm, the last thing I want to do is leave at 7pm. Just want to spend money sit , drink.and eat. enjoy my time here but seems like impossible! Wasted 1 hour my time move around

I celebrated my birthday in this beautiful restaurant. We came in winter and were the only guests, so we happened to have the chef and sommelier just for ourselves. It was a fantastic experience from the starter to the desserts. We also had the chance to get to know the owner and creative mind behind the project, which was great! Super recommended

If you are in Calafate and you are looking for a special dinner made with locally sourced ingredients, this is the place you should go. The testing menu was outstanding with delicious wines as pairing. All the wines and dishes were explained by the chef and the sommelier in detail and this help you in better understanding Patagonia and what this region have to offer. Highly recommended!

We were welcomed very spontaneously at Volpi Bistro, and the experience exceeded all expectations. The atmosphere was cozy and warm, creating the perfect setting for a memorable evening. The sommelier guided us to a fantastic bottle of white wine—an excellent choice, especially since we aren’t too familiar with new world wines. Every dish was a delight, with the lamb and dessert standing out as close to perfection. The service was incredibly friendly; we were greeted with warm handshakes upon arrival and given a similarly personal farewell. A wonderful evening from start to finish—I can’t recommend this place highly enough!

What a perfect end to our trip in the southern part of argentina. This was the best meal of our Argentina trip, we did the premium wine pairing. The menu is inventive. I loved to tasting local ingredients such as guanaco carpaccio. We rated this higher than Don Julio and was one of the highlights of the trip.

The little Wolf is the Walter and Nadia's culinary gem in Calafate, we decided on the tasting menu with wine pairing and it was delicious 😋. It is a small restaurant with personalized chef driven menu based on local availability. Welcomed with a glass of dried cider followed by four steps starting with a red tuna carpaccio, red vinaigrette and sprout salad paired with rose cabernet franc, it continued with grilled lamb gizzard, mashed beans and leeks paired with a red cabernet franc. Principal was a pink salmon with a mousselin of carrots and ginger pairs Paired with a pinot noise and for dessert we had a creme brule of blueberries. Price were accordingly for the high end service provided.

A lucky find in this quite touristy town of Calafate. Down to earth eatery with homemade craft beer, a solid menu and reasonable prices. Recommended if you want to avoid tapping into those too touristy restaurants along the main road.

The horrible and worst food ever. Feel disrespect like they dont even try. We ordered pizza and chicken ceasar salad. The pizza is very dry and the dough is hard like a rock. Taste like frozen pizza but not even warm. The chicken tasted really bad,smelly, dry and hard,like been defrosted so many times, I didn't even want to try more What a waste, don't even go there, not even the waitress is making it better, it is like you are bothering her to be here

The beer is ok but the pizzas are aweful! Really bad and dry pizza dough and they served cold pizzas!!!! Don’t recommend at all! We were really hungry still couldn’t finish the pizza. It’s better to pay more and go to a better place! Seriously!!!

We had a lovely dinner at Gabo's! The home cooked food was delicious, the atmosphere very warm and welcoming, and we enjoyed meeting and talking to fellow travellers. I went with the wine pairing and got to try several Argentinian wines. The portions were very generous, so you definitely won't leave the table feeling hungry. Overall, a very nice evening and a pleasant experience. Note that this is a closed door restaurant, so you have to book in advance.

You know the music is good if the staff and your girlfriend are subconsciously singing along with it. The artisanal beer from Macá was very very tasty, definitely recommend it you enjoy a light blond beer! I've seen a lot of very positive reviews and I get it, but the food was oke to me. The lamb empanada was very nice, a good way to start. The bondiola with lemon sauce, apple and puree was very good and unique! I haven't had that combination before but somehow it worked well. The lamb roulade on the other felt a little flat. The dish was a bit cold(not sure if that was the purpose), the meat was a bit dry and there was just not a lot of taste to it. Nevertheless it was a nice experience and I enjoyed it a lot. It's a little bit of an uphill walk from the city centre but it's fairly close!

Wow, this spot is a little gem! Within a short distance from downtown but away from the touristy areas. I was looking for a nice spot where to had lamb and pasta, and the reviews on this spot were good so I decided to check it out and oh boy I was not disappointed!!! I had the lamb ravioli and the guanaco fried ravioli as an appetizer and it was DELICIOUS. If you are in town, you have to check this spot out! Highly recommend!

Absolutely loved The Morrison! I went there twice during my stay in El Calafate — the atmosphere is cozy, and the service was exceptional. The waiter was incredibly kind and attentive. I tried several dishes, and every single one was perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. The smoked carrot “hummus” was unforgettable (I’ll definitely try to make it at home!), the meat empanadas were the best I had in Patagonia, and the soup was delicious too. A true gem — warm, welcoming, and consistently excellent.

This was our absolute favourite restaurant in Calafate. All the food was incredible - we tried the carne and lamb fried empanadas, lamb ravioli, lamb goulash, and Malbec pears with Calafate ice cream. Absolutely loved all of it! We still think about it weeks later. The service is also excellent and we loved the cozy vibe of the restaurant. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

We went there becouse prices were lower than in other places. Many times also place was filled with locals - and that is a good sign. Steaks were ok , service fast. It is not a fancy restaurant but would visit again.

We stopped at the restaurant for lunch as it was included as part of our trip to see the glacier. The three course menu was good (preselected for us but they may also offer an a la carte menu) and the staff were fantastic - attentive and friendly. You also get a nice view of the glacier from the restaurant.

Their pasta with chicken and vegetables was flavorful. Their dessert was delicious and not too sweet. The partial view of the Perito Moreno Glacier, snow capped mountains, lake and foliage were beautiful. I wish that they seated us by the windows.

There are no other restaurants after doing the glacier cliff walk so there is no competition. The service and views are nice the the food was mediocre at best.

We were there for their lunch prefix menu. Staff was attentive and helpful.

Beautiful view and great food offerings, we ran out of time to eat but just had time to get some water and a quick decaf coffee with milk. The option of Whisky with Glacier Ice is a fun option that we couldn't try out since time was tight and we were driving. This place takes full advantage of the view, which is breathtaking.

An expensive day out but worth it. Don’t buy the tours for the boat or the hiking. The normal glacier is just fine.

So I actually never dined here, but this restaurant had a great view of the glaciar. I think a lot of people use this place as a public restroom before the tour begins. I ordered a cup of coffee and it tasted good. I did see a party going on when I was there, and the food smelled really good.

We celebrated our anniversary at Nina Parrilla. Their complimentary bread with the lamb-flavored dip was tasty. My Risotto di mare with a huge prawn and alfalfa as garnish enhanced both its presentation and taste🤩😋. My husband’s Sizzling Chicken Breast also had an appetizing presentation and delicious. They have comfortable booths, motorcycle theme as decor and good service. Their prices are almost double most of the restaurants serving fine food on El Calafate’s main road though.

We celebrated our anniversary and my wife's birthday here. The staff were courteous and excellent, internal decor was nice as well, but food quality was just poor. My wife ordered ceviche and spaghetti since she wanted to keep tradition to have noodles for birthday. The ceviche was fine, the spaghetti was plain, not much of taste, my sea bass was very dry, I put in salt and sauce, but I still couldn't even finish it. I was very disappointed .

The staff is excellent. The vibe is great. The space is beautiful. The food has major issues. The Tomahawk steak came out oily and not cooked to medium rarer. The fries were oily as well. Once again, great atmosphere and a great staff at the front of the house. A new chef is needed. I’m sure they know.

We had a decent time there. The server Augustin we had was very sweet and he really helped us with the translation and what we required. My marks and stars are deducted because of the food by the kitchen which was cold.

The cocktails and the service is top tier! The steaks were delicious but the salads/soups were nothing special. They did have a quinoa bowl for vegetarian options that was pretty manageable. The desserts were amazing as well as the fresh squeezed juices.

Regrettably, the fries arrived only after my wife had finished her steak, prompting us to inquire about their whereabouts. While the food itself was well-presented and flavorful, the portions were smaller, and prices higher compared to similar establishments in El Calafate. The potential of Nina Grill & Beer is overshadowed by the urgent need for improved customer service training among the staff. Despite the appealing aesthetics, the overall experience fell short of expectations.
