Yellow Crane Tower, a reconstructed 5-story tower standing at 168 feet high, is a revered landmark in Wuhan. Originally built during the Qing dynasty as a military watchtower, the current building was erected in 1981 and has become the pride of the city. The pagoda features traditional Chinese paintings and calligraphy, decorative lamps, a souvenir shop, and a showroom modeled after ancient Chu-style sitting rooms.
黃鶴樓 is undoubtedly one of the most stunning traditional Chinese towers I’ve ever visited. Its architectural grandeur is awe-inspiring, both during the day and at night. During daylight, the intricate designs and vibrant colors stand out against the sky, while in the evening, the tower is beautifully illuminated, creating a magical atmosphere. Climbing the stairs to the top was absolutely worth it—the panoramic view of Wuhan from above was spectacular! You can see the city’s skyline, the winding Yangtze River, and the surrounding landscapes, making it a perfect spot for photography and reflection. To my delight, there was also a cultural performance in front of the tower during my visit. The traditional music and dance added an extra layer of charm to the experience, making it even more memorable. Whether you're a history enthusiast, architecture lover, or simply looking for a picturesque place to explore,黃鶴樓 is a must-visit. I highly recommend it and would gladly return!

First time climbing Yellow Crane Tower, I fell in love with Wuhan ❤️ I came here by metro from my hotel — it was a bit far, but Wuhan’s metro is super convenient and comfortable. The entrance ticket is ¥70, and I highly recommend buying it online in advance, especially during holidays, because the queue for on-site tickets can take forever! From the tower, I saw Tortoise Mountain TV Tower, the Yangtze River Bridge, and the stunning skyline of Wuhan. Took so many photos 📸 This city is truly full of history and life — I really love it here!

It stands majestically at night with all the lights that makes it more beautiful! A must visit when you go to Wuhan. This was also featured in the 2025 Spring Gala Festival where OneRepublic performed "Counting Stars". Will definitely recommemd to see these gorgepus attraction in Wuhan

Reconstructed inly 40 years ago and on a different hill than the original, the yellow crane tower remains a must see in Wuhan. The stupa at the entrance is the only one in the city and the tower itself has been rebuilt according to the original design. Great view from the top and a nice park to walk around !
Tony B — Google review
The location is excellent, in the center of the city. Easy parking, short walking distance to the tower. Beautiful night scenery, but it's hard to get to the top of the tower during summer break, too many people.
Yan R — Google review
Too many stairs also one-way. Slight state of disrepair Able to see 'the whole of china' What's meant to be made of wood is not made of wood PS. there are nets in case you drop your phone and stair guards to prevent slips and reduce falls
Hjsa D — Google review
The Yellow Crane Tower (Huanghelou) is undoubtedly one of the most iconic landmarks in Wuhan, and visiting it is like stepping into a living piece of Chinese history and poetry. Perched on Snake Hill along the Yangtze River, the tower offers not only stunning views of the city and river below but also a rich cultural experience that blends history, architecture, and legend.
Sam I — Google review
A lot of steps within this area so it is not wheelchair-friendly. I recommend you to buy a ticket for back & forth shuttle for 10 Yuan per person to reach the tower which is very convenient. There is a Millennium Bell and small part of ancient wall across the pagoda. The tower has an elevator for elders and disabled persons but you need to ask officers there to use it. At the ground hall, there is a giant ceramic painting of a yellow crane that everyone must take picture with. On the upper deck, there is a beautifully painted ceramic hall in green color with 4-sided outdoor terrace, with stunning views of Wuhan city and Yangtze River.

History Museums
Hubei Provincial Museum, established in 1953, is a large museum with an impressive collection of around 200,000 historical and cultural artifacts.
Great experience. So many cool artifacts from over 2000 years ago. Free admission, but reservation is required. The most famous area is the Sword of Goujian. There was a line to get in to that area and a large crowd around the display case. It took a long time to get to the front to take a photo. If you are not okay with a bit of pushing to get through, you may have a bad experience here.
Yiran L — Google review
Amazing collection, many ancient artifacts. They provide an audio device. The descriptions in English are meager, better bring an audio device or use a translation device.
Stepp B — Google review
Nice museum with a decent collection of Chinese antiquities. Highlights are the bronze sword and ancient bells. Can also attend a performance that highlights how the bells sounded. Multiple gates and entry points. Make sure to book in beforehand and have your passport.
Daryl S — Google review
All I can say is wow! The overall layout of Hubei Provincial Museum reflects the construction model and characteristics of Chu State (a state in the Spring and Autumn Period (770BC-476BC)). It is amazing to see what kind of technology that they had even before Christ was born. The tomb of Marquis was simply impressive. How well preserved it was as well as all of the artifacts that were buried. He was the 9th emperor of the Han dynasty. There are many photos showing how they excavated the tomb and parts which were completely under water. The majority of the works lost wax technique. It is hard to imagine that they could make such detailed bronze statuary. The museum is split into three parts: the comprehensive exhibition hall, the Chu Culture Exhibition Hall and the Chime Bell Exhibition Hall. The bells were so impressive. There was a small display in a corner where you could simulate the bells tones just by pressing a key on a keyboard. Depending on where the bell was hit was a different tone.
S D — Google review
The 2,400-year-old Bianzhong bells sound exactly as they did for Marquis Yi - their bronze alloy remains uncorroded. The silk gallery's 30g burial robe would pass through a wedding ring. Security guards know where the floor creaks loudest near the Chu kingdom artifacts.
Arman K — Google review
A gorgeous place to spend at least three hours on. A concise exhibit that showcases what Hubei is known for. Go for the souvenirs, the bookmarks and nick nacks are very affordable.
Ricky V — Google review
Here keeps Chime Bells which is the largest bronze musical instrument discovered so far, as well as the sword of Zhou Juan, the king of the Yue State in the Spring and Autumn Period, who is very well-known to Chinese people.

Museum with free admission,  you only need to book a few hours to visit, just watch out for the queues at the entrance There are some really interesting exhibits to see.

Guiyuan Temple is a sprawling Buddhist complex in Wuhan, known for its over 500 Buddha statues, stone and wood carvings, and rare books. The temple has a long history of destruction and rebuilding, with the present structure dating back to the early Republic of China. Covering an expansive area of 46,900 square meters with five courtyards and twenty-eight temple halls, it features prominent structures like Daxiongbaodian Hall and Arhat Hall.
Many people are here. Fantastic buildings and amazing statues. I think it is a great place for travelers, no matter you have or don't have religion belief.
Runsheng H — Google review
An interesting place to visit. It is a big Buddhist temple in the middle of Wuhan City. There is a beautiful Lohan Hall with 500 life-sized golden monks in action and giant Buddha images. Sorry no picture is allowed inside monastery buildings. There is a big Guanyin statue with double-side postures standing outdoor. A beautiful tower nearby is opened for visitors only ground floor where you can worship Bodhisattva images and enjoy corridors with stone-laser drawings along the walls.
Nisakorn M — Google review
The 400 arhat statues each have unique facial expressions - locals say #147 resembles your future spouse. The vegetarian restaurant's mock duck contains 18 layered tofu sheets just like 1922 recipes. Incense coils burn for exactly 108 minutes, matching traditional prayer cycles.
Arman K — Google review
We had a fantastic time seeing a working Buddhist temple. The shops were also great for some authentic gifts and the staff was more than amazing.
Eric R — Google review
My friend told me this temple is one the most famous temple in Wuhan. It has an astounding 500 Luo Hans(statues of ancient saints), where you could count them according to your age, starting from the one you like the most. Lets say if you are 20 years old, go into the temple, find a Luo Han you like the most, and the one next to him is one. Count until the 20th Luo Han. That Luo Han has its characteristics, people believe those characteristics will tell you something about this year of yours. Sort of like fortune cookies. There's a magnificent newly built temple behind the old temples, too bad it doesn't allow visitors to go up.

One of the main sights in Wuhan. Very standard Buddhist temple with lots to see. The highlight is the tall Buddha statue and the hidden all-vegan restaurant that serves mainly items that monks usually eat. Highly recommended!

Bridge
Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge, completed in 1957, is a renowned double-deck road and rail truss bridge that spans the Yangtze River. It holds the distinction of being the first bridge over the river and stretches 1.6 km, linking Turtle Hill in Hanyang to Snake Hill in Wuchang. The bridge offers captivating views of bustling river and road traffic as well as scenic vistas of Wuhan's waterfront area.
Wuhan has changed a lot. I just got home from Wuhan. I spent the night there. The night scenery of Wuhan Yangtze River is charming, the lights are colorful, and the waves are shining in the river water, which is extremely dazzling and beautiful. There are luxury cruise ships moving slowly on the wide river, because it wants tourists to see more beautiful lights and night scenery.

The 1957 Soviet-designed structure expands 1.8m daily from thermal movement. Night fishermen cluster near Pier 4 where catfish school in the bridge's shadow. The pedestrian walkway's original socialist realism mosaics depict idealized workers with startlingly lifelike eyes.
Arman K — Google review
Take the elevator from street level to the observation area on top of the bridge pier. It only costs 2 yuan. I also walked to the observation area...about 2 kilometers. Unfortunately, I visited the bridge on a cloudy morning and couldn't stay until the sun came out.

Theme Parks
Happy Valley Wuhan is a popular amusement park located in the Hongshan District of northeastern Wuhan. Opened in 2012, it has quickly become a favorite destination for tourists. The park offers a wide range of thrilling rides, including themed coasters, water rides, and interactive games suitable for both young people and families. Visitors can enjoy various performances and shows as well as high-quality service from the friendly staff.
The wooden rollercoaster uses traditional Chinese joinery without nails. The haunted house incorporates actual Wuhan folk tales into its scenes. Employees in the kiddie area wear shoes that make cartoonish squeaks to reassure children.
Arman K — Google review
Been to Shanghai Happy Valley many times. My experience there compared to Wuhan was much better. The most frustrating thing is that most rides only have one working safety attendant. As a result, for rides that should be processing visitors quickly and in large numbers, like the giant frisbee/gyro swing, have long waiting times. How can you have only one person checking 30 people? OCT THUST SSC 1000 was, of course, the headliner roller-coaster. I did some research before going and learned that this coaster was designed by Intamin in Liechtenstein. The coaster was designed to process an average of 1200 riders an hour, however the actual pace was about a quarter of that. It was extremely frustrating to learn this and being familiar with a similar headlining coaster in shanghai and knowing the average processing time difference. The last ride I went on was the wooden coaster and while queuing here, both myself and other visitors verbally expressed surprise at the pace that line moved. It was so quick and once I reached the front of the line, I realised this was because they had two staff members checking the safety requirements of passengers, that aside, the woman seemingly leading the team at this ride was enthusiastic and seemed to understand that her pace of work can affect the experience of visitors.
Matthew D — Google review
Happy Valley is one of the best theme parks. There is also a water park named "Maya Water Park" near to it, often opened in summer. It was 250¥ for single entry and 400¥ for a year with unlimited entries. When you live in Wuhan, then why buy a single entry. So we bought membership. A number of rides are available here, but you have to be in queue for every time taking the ride. Roller coasters are awesome we loved these. Freefall is also super but too short duration.
Shais H — Google review
The facilities are okay. However, the park seems to be a little small compared to the one in Shenzhen while the waiting queue is as long as that one.
Ding Z — Google review
One of the best theme parks in china, everyone should go visit there. Really fun, lots of cool performances and delicious foods.
Jayden — Google review
It's okay. Just okay. There's a lot of rides but some bigger rides the park won't open them if it's a slow day, which kind of sucked. Some of the rides, i forgot the names, spins you for a very long time which can make you very nauseous. Watch out for those that spins. Make sure you have an umbrella if it's a sunny day. It gets pretty hot and the umbrellas for sale in the park are way overpriced. Of course. The food is also overpriced and tiny in quantity. Sure doesn't look like the pictures shown.
Ariel W — Google review
i could really see peduto wolfe and fritzgerald here celebrating after they sell out pittsburgh to their sister city in china ..

Wuhan Museum is a museum in Wuhan, Hubei, China. It is open to public. It's a very fantastic design. There is enough space for car parking, walking, seating area, rest area, restaurant, flower garden & etc. However, the museum looking very nice from outside, but I think the historical collection is not so more. There are hundreds more historical collection in the museum of Bangladesh than Wuhan Museum.

Accessible via Wuhan Metro's line 2, visitors can witness monks from various temples attending prayer sessions on Sundays. Climbing the 7-story Hongshan Tower offers panoramic city views.

There are so many people and so many different things you can do there, dance, shop, eat, etc. This place becomes very lively a little before sunset and continues a few hours till 10pm. Wuhan Art Museum, located in Chongqing, is housed in a building that served as a financial institution during WWII. The museum showcases stunning Chinese oil paintings across three floors, with a focus on depicting the Chinese way of life, birds, farming, and construction. It offers visitors a captivating vista of wonderful artwork that provides insight into the rich cultural heritage of China.
The contemporary wing's floating staircase has exactly 108 steps - a Buddhist auspicious number. The ink painting gallery maintains 55% humidity using Ming dynasty ceramic humidifiers. Visitors often miss the rooftop garden's view of the Yangtze bridges.

Current exhibitions, The First Watercolors, still life painting exhibitions of China are quite diverse wirh many artists and styles. Worthy visit for sure. Hankou Jiangtan is a scenic area located in the Jiang'an District of Wuhan City, Hubei Province. It covers a vast area and is adjacent to the riverside avenue, offering stunning views of the Wuchang Yellow Crane Tower Scenic Area. This rich district boasts excellent shopping opportunities and markets, making it a popular destination for locals. The park along the river provides a pleasant environment for walking, exercising, kite flying, and relaxation with family or friends.
I recently visited 武漢漢口江灘, and I was truly captivated by the stunning night scene. The atmosphere along the river is enchanting, especially with many buildings on the opposite bank illuminated in soft, harmonious colors. The vibrant lights reflect beautifully on the water, creating a picturesque view that is both serene and breathtaking. It's a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll or simply to relax and take in the beauty of the surroundings. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, I highly recommend experiencing the night ambiance at 武漢漢口江灘, as it showcases the charm of the city in a truly remarkable way.

Its a big park along the river, where is nice to walk in a good weather, enjoy exercising, making kite, resting with family or friends. The Memorial of Wuchang Uprising 1911 Revolution is a significant tourist destination in Wuhan, consisting of two attractions. It was built in 2011 to mark the centenary of the 1911 uprising that led to the overthrowing of the ruling dynasty. This site holds great historical importance as it is where Dr. Sun Yat Sen fired the first shots that sparked the revolution.

Wuhan Science and Technology Museum is a fascinating place that showcases the power of mathematics through various exhibits. Visitors can explore interesting projects such as the Mobius belt, quad-wheel bicycle, and binary height measurement. Colorful boards display wonderful mathematical knowledge, while interactive experiments offer insights into the evolution and practical applications of mathematics. The museum also features diverse exhibitions ranging from ancient animals to modern technology, including space crafts and wastewater treatment.
The 1:1000 Yangtze River model uses real water to demonstrate erosion patterns. The VR exhibit lets you "fly" through 1930s Hankou's foreign concessions. Touchscreens near the dinosaur fossils show infrared heat maps where visitors' hands linger longest.

We visited the science & technology museum at October 4th, during the National Day of PRC. It's free but need ID card or something like that to get the tickets. There are so many people, we have to lined up for about 25 minutes to go inside. I assume it would not be so crowded if we visit it at other days. The exhibitions are great. From ancient animals to earth history, from universal to modern technology, from space craft mode to wastewater treatment technology. I think no matter how old the visitor is, there must be something he or she may interested in. I saw many parents with their children playing around here. One complain is the lack of introduction. Basically people have to rely on themselves to understand or figure out everything showing up here.

Its a beautiful place to visit. A single time and a single day is not enough to visit here. I visited yesterday and could visit only the 1st floor. It is full of mathematical technologies and at the end, there is 5G Exhibition. I enjoyed my whole time there. I passed around three hours and only in the 5G area. The VR, is really something to try. and believe me there is a big que. You have to be patience and wait for your turn. Feel the virtual Realistic world. Avoid the weekends, as there is a big crowd and you have to wait in a long que in every where there. There is also mathematical technologies on the same floor where children enjoy their time. Different mathematics techniques are there to try. On the Second floor, there are animal life science area and the Space Science area. There are also a lots of things to watch and enjoy. Specially, the kids enjoy the areas. And also the parents could enjoy with their kids. Overall, Its a huge area. Be careful with your groups. Be together with them all the time. There is more probability to be getting lost with your friends. and Its hard to find them again. So, hold your kid's hands and follow each other all the time. Take water, juice and dry foods with you. You get tired moving around. Hope this review will help you. Its a most visit place. You must visit this museum when you are in Wuhan. Enjoy your visit.

Very nice to see, very instructive for child (and adult), and if you have little baby there is very big area for toys and game but only one parent can go inside with the baby. They starve and treat the animals bad. These animals need to be taken outta the care of the wuhan zoo. Disgusting place. The whole place is inappropriate for animals to live. Tigers in mud only. Np tree or rocks to lay on. No enrichment for the animals or anything to promote wild behavior. Shut this zoo down
Khodi B — Google review
After seeing pictures of the beautiful White Bengal Tiger at Wuhan Zoo scrounging in the dirt for soil to eat because of how hungry it was, I'd say this Zoo doesn't take proper care of its animals, they're definitely not taking good care of that Tiger judging by how skinny it is. Its cruel and if this place can't take care of it then maybe they should ask another country to have this amazing animal somewhere that will take better care of it and respect what is an endangered species instead of starving the poor thing. You don't even deserve 1 star
Sharron — Google review
Footage has emerged on social media of an emaciated white tiger hungrily licking and biting the muddy floor of her barren enclosure at Wuhan Zoo in China. The heartbreaking video was captured by a zoo visitor shocked by the physical condition and behavior of the animal. The tiger is housed in appalling conditions, trapped in a bare, muddy square surrounded by concrete with no enrichment whatsoever — not even a tree — in sight. Zoo management responded to the claims of animal abuse, stating that the seven-year-old Bengal tiger had just been fed a chicken and was merely searching for remains. They said she weighs about 120 kilograms, asserting that this is a normal weight for her species. However, according to media reports from the big cat’s arrival at the zoo in September last year, she used to weigh 210 kilograms — indicating a massive 90-kilogram weight loss in a matter of months. Clearly, this white tiger is suffering at Wuhan Zoo, as shown by her skeletal frame and disturbing behavior. She needs to be removed from this facility and sent to a sanctuary to receive appropriate care in a suitable environment. Sign this petition asking the Chinese Ambassador to address this issue at once, urging Wuhan Zoo to send the tiger to a sanctuary.

Bagong House is a historic building located at the intersection of Lihuangpi Road Pedestrian Street and Xiangyang Street in Wuhan. Resembling the Wukang Building in Shanghai, this century-old structure boasts a rich history dating back 100 years. Originally owned by a Russian tea businessman with rumored ties to the Russian Royal family, it features a distinctive triangle shape when viewed from above.
A Russian style triangle shape apartment with recent renovation. It was full of politicians, war lords and business family living there during 1910-1940s.

If you’re in Wuhan, don’t miss Bagong (八公馆 Bā Gōng Guǎn)! 🌃✨ It’s especially beautiful at night — the warm lights, riverside breeze, and lively atmosphere make it a perfect spot for an evening walk. You can take lovely photos, enjoy local snacks, and browse little shops selling souvenirs and handmade crafts. 🎐🍢

Update 2024, the building been sealed due to remodel. Billboard said it will be a hotel soon. People lived there been moved out. Building was belong to a Russian tea business man originally, rumor said he is a distance relative to the Russian Royal family. Whole building was triangle shape if you look from above. Wood materials been used extensively, original building has couple of ball rooms and bars but was been remodeled to fit resident need. Right now, it is more like a slum complex due to lack of the maintenance.
