City pillar shrine
Sights & Landmarks

Surat Thani City Pillar Shrine, also known as San Lak Muang, is a well-maintained symbol of the city located in the heart of Surat Thani. The shrine is made entirely from the wood of the Golden Shower Tree and is beautifully lit up at night, resembling a castle from a Disney movie. It's open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and visitors can purchase flowers and incense sticks at the entrance.
Really cool. Free entrance. There were even people running around it while others were offering flowers and coloured stripes to the gods. A lovely place.
Rafel B — Google review
“Surat Thani Pillar Shrine: A Hidden Gem of Ancient Energy” The Surat Thani Pillar Shrine is a truly mesmerizing place. The moment you step inside, you can feel a unique energy flowing through the building—almost as if the very ethers are being pulled through its walls. This shrine holds an air of ancient wisdom, a quiet power that connects you to the deep history of the region. It’s not just beautiful; it’s a spiritual experience that invites reflection and awe. A must-visit for anyone seeking a connection to ancient knowledge and the tranquil energy of the past. 🛕
BinoGotti — Google review
The Surat Thani City Pillar Shrine is a true gem in the city of Surat Thani and a place that every visitor should definitely experience. As soon as you enter the shrine, you will be amazed by the impressive architecture and tranquil atmosphere. The intricately designed statues and the loving attention to detail reflect the rich culture and tradition of Thailand. The central pillar, which is considered a symbol of the city, is particularly impressive. It is not only a spiritual place for the locals, but also a fascinating photo opportunity for tourists. You immediately feel the peaceful energy that surrounds this place and it is easy to get caught up in the moment. Many people come here to pay their respects and ask for luck for their families and friends. The location of the shrine is also excellent. Surrounded by lush greenery and close to several other important attractions, it is perfect for a relaxing stroll. Access to this sacred place is easy and the surrounding area is clean and well maintained. Overall, I highly recommend the Surat Thani City Pillar Shrine. Whether you are looking for spirituality, a cultural experience or just a peaceful place, this shrine offers all that and more. An absolute must for any Surat Thani visitor!
Matt E — Google review
This is a beautiful shrine surrounded by some well kept lovely gardens . Not a destination attraction but definitely worth the detour if passing nearby . Lots of street parking and no fee to enter .
David H — Google review
Beautiful - smaller than expected, but a nice stop on the way 🌟
Magnus S — Google review
Nice little shrine to walk through if you’re passing by, but it’s not worth travelling for otherwise. The place is lit up beautifully at night although they close it so you can’t get close by. In daytime it’s nice to sit by for a short while and just relax as it’s very quiet without many visitors.
Anthony J — Google review
Nice shrine in Surat Thani. Clean. Good walking area. Well lighted at night.

Marketing agency
Surat Thani City Fresh Market is a typical Thai market offering a wide variety of fresh products such as meats, seafood, and vegetables. Visitors can also find fresh flowers and orchids at the entrance, where locals hand-make garlands. The second floor features dry foods like candy, canned goods, and snacks, making it convenient for picking up souvenirs. This bustling market caters to both locals looking for fresh ingredients and tourists seeking an authentic shopping experience.
Big market that has a little bit of everything. You can find a meal or all the cooking ingredients needed to make a delicious dish at home.
David L — Google review
This isn’t a market for tourists per se. Unless you need produce or some fresh cut meats you won’t much here for consumption. If you like to see the ‘local way’ you might enjoy walking through the market. For the average person, it is pretty dirty and unorganized. Depends what you are looking for
BackpackingAndy — Google review
Interesting market for the locals fresh fish chicken pork a lot of produce some cooked items some clothing items something for everybody worth having a look
Yesitis D — Google review
As a tourist it is an interesting place to visit. Typical Thai fresh market, that has lots of fresh products including, meats, seafood and fresh vegetables. At the front enterance, on the right is a stall selling fresh flowers and orchids. You can also see the locals hand making garlands
Kevin — Google review
Nice local market. Good for wondering around or for locals to pickup some fresh ingredients. Not much to do for tourist. 2nd floor has some dry food like candy canned food and snacks. Good for picking up souvenirs too.
Kentarouification — Google review
You can find anything to cook your lunch! Fresh ingredients - that's why people come here. Don't forget to bring your bag! Remember: if you don't reuse it - refuse it.
Strabby C — Google review
You'll get what you need. The shops inside weren't so impressive and it's dull. Most people shop outside, behind the market building. A huge wet market, some vegetable shops, coconut milk etc. Both quite messy and smelly. Also more chaotic than usual.
Lily — Google review
Wide selection of Thai street food, fruits and of course clothes, souvenirs, etc. Mostly I liked the food I have not seen at any other fresh market in Thailand.

Restaurant
Day & Night in Suratthani is a versatile restaurant that offers a fusion of Thai, Asian, and European cuisine. The ambiance is reminiscent of a New York brewpub, making it an ideal spot for fine dining or casual coffee breaks. Open until midnight, the establishment serves an array of dishes including highly recommended Hojicha latte for caffeine enthusiasts. While the atmosphere is generally great across all branches, some patrons have noted occasional temperature discomfort and dish serving order issues.
This place is a must-visit for anyone wanting to experience authentic Thai cuisine in a “European” setting. We tried the braised pork, a signature dish of watermelon with fish, a delicious starter, and rice with pineapple and shrimp. Every dish was bursting with flavor and love! I’ve found that, in this special spot, the spiciness of the food truly complements the flavors instead of overwhelming them, which has been a rare delight for me. Each dish felt like a beautiful symphony, not just for the taste buds but for the heart too. I was also pleasantly surprised by the aftertaste. Usually, I can have some side effects after trying new foods, but not this time! I think it reflects the quality and harmony of the flavors I experienced.
Kseniia P — Google review
Recently dined at Day & Night. It was an amazing experience from start to finish. The ambiance was cozy and lively, making it a perfect spot for casual dining. As for the food, it was delicious and beautifully presented. The prices were great value for the quality, and overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Ploy — Google review
I got red wine watermelon smoothie medium rare steak coconut curry and finished with a Thai tea tiramisu. Everything was perfection. The meat was cut with a spoon it was so tender the curry had amazing flavor. The wine was so nice and the smoothie was so refreshing. The dessert had multiple different custard toppings from a coffee flavored one to a raspberry flavored one. Not my favorite in the world but it was different and it was super good and for somebody else they may love it. All in all it was delicious. Pricey but delicious. That meal came out to be around 1200 baht. It was super good however and if I wanted to splurge on a nice dinner again I would return.
Josh G — Google review
The food here is absolutely delicious! The starters are great, the pizzas are definitely a highlight, and the ribs were perfectly cooked—tender, flavorful, and seasoned to perfection. If you’ve got room for dessert, don’t hesitate; they’re fantastic and won’t disappoint. The only downside was the seating. Inside, the restaurant was quite loud, and the air conditioning was a bit too strong. Outside was more pleasant, but there were quite a few mosquitos. However, these minor inconveniences didn’t take away from the overall experience. All in all, it’s a fantastic spot for a satisfying meal and comes highly recommended!
Joagat — Google review
One of the best places to have dinner in Surat Thani. Great atmosphere but a bit loud. Excellent and diveres food and wines.
Marc L — Google review
Omg just passing through on the way to the airport and we wish we were staying g for more meals here! This place gets 5 stars for sure. Incredible delicious food and the service is top quality! We loved the suggestions and richly local culture dishes mixed with the usual international friendly pizza, burgers, fries…. But again… top quality. If only restaurants where I’m from in California were like this I’d be so happy!
Shawna B — Google review
The place itself looks great, and the servers were nice. However, I’d say the quality of the food doesn’t quite match the price. For example, the rice was very off! I didn’t enjoy the flavors or textures. The pork ribs, though, were great!
George A — Google review
Nice ambiance with eclectic western jass new age music. Great diverse selection of international beers. Mistake made on wife's order but waitress promptly corrected. I had the pork knuckles. I was disappointed: pork over cooked and the portion of creamed potatoes served was " miniscule". This is not a French fusion restaurant. It is a very nice western American style high quality restaurant where you should expect more generous portions to accompany your entrees. I wanted to give higher rating but the paper towel dispenser for drying face and hands in Men's bathroom was empty. When I asked supervisor at cashier if this is a Michelin, why weren't there any paper towels, she just shook her head like nothing was wrong.

In Milano, an Italian restaurant in Surat Thani, you can take a break from the usual Thai cuisine and indulge in authentic Italian flavors. The restaurant is known for its hand-made, stone-baked pizzas and delectable pasta dishes. Despite its proximity to the pier, attracting ferry passengers looking for a meal, Milano's popularity is also due to its friendly staff and fresh, flavorful food. Customers rave about the lasagna and other international options on the menu.
Someone recommended us this place and it did not disappoint. The service was quick and the food was good compared to other places in SE-Asia. We had Spaghetti con Pollo and Pizza con Pollo.
Cosmina-Lavinia — Google review
Terrible pizza, overpriced, no flavor, staff are really rude and just want your money. Please don't waste your money here unless you enjoy giving people your money who hate you as foreigners. I'm sorry to say these things but I was charged 300 baht for tomotoe and mushroom on some bread, they won't see my money ever again. The place needs lessons on manners.
Natural T — Google review
Amazing quality! The food is delicious! The burger bun is homemade. The restaurant has a cozy Italian atmosphere. Highly recommended!😋
Anna — Google review
I’ve visited this pizza place in Surat Thani three times with a friend, and it’s been amazing every time. The pizzas are consistently delicious—thin crust, fresh ingredients, and packed with flavor. Each visit felt just as good as the first. The staff is friendly and welcoming, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
Hamish M — Google review
Owner and his family are excellent hosts. The pizza and pasta is the best I've had in Southern Thailand. Homemade pasta and many other tasty items. They love pizza so much the owners named their daughter Cheese.
Myke C — Google review
I had a lasagna tonight. I think this was one of the best I've had in Thailand. Real Italian taste, what even didn't need extra salt, pepper or whatever. The owner and staff are very friendly people, who will make you the best food they can. Everything fresh. The lasagna already cut to peaces. Tasted way better than it looks like in the picture.
Michel N — Google review
We were craving pizza and found this place — it was delicious! The crust is thin and crispy. I personally prefer it a bit thicker, as it was really just a very thin layer, but it was still super tasty. We had a Margherita pizza and it cost 250 baht. ( a bit expensive tho )
Paloma R — Google review
Decor is not great but the service and the food are very good. Both Italian and Mexican food. The chips and salsa (with real sour cream as well) were the best I've had in Thailand. Don't let the appearance fool you, it's an excellent restaurant.

Sweet Kitchen is a delightful culinary gem that specializes in Thai cuisine, offering an array of traditional dishes alongside some international options. While they do serve pizza, their true strength lies in the vibrant flavors of their seafood and authentic Thai meals. The inviting atmosphere features charming tile floors and rustic wood and brick accents, making it a cozy spot for dining. With seating for over 20 guests, it's perfect for both intimate dinners and casual gatherings.
Good food. You can customize you're food accordingly . This is best place if you're vegetarian and want to get good food in Surat Thani Host is amazing and has excellent communication skills so very easy to order as you want the sldish to be cooked.
Lakshya P — Google review
Found this place a year ago while waiting for the night ferry and was very happy to discover it had amazing craft beers locally brewed in Thailand 🇹🇭 One year later even happier to find it still here and even more craft beers! Reasonably priced too compared to everywhere else I've found them. Really friendly staff too happy to talk about beer and anything else 😄🙏. Highly reccomend popping in if you're waiting for the boat or just exploring Suratthani.
Ian I — Google review
We noticed Sweet Kitchen as we were walking by, it looked nice so we went in. We took a seat and menus were brought over. I ordered the Garlic Pepper Chicken and Spring Rolls. My girlfriend ordered Stir Fried Chicken with Basil and Rice. The interior was attractive with tile floors and wood and brick on the walls. There is seating for 20+ inside. We both enjoyed our meals, very tasty! There is one thing, it's just a pet peeve of mine and I didn't deduct from the final score because of it. One of the tables was being used as an office, the owner (I'm guessing) was sitting there working on his laptop. In my opinion the dining area is for customers, not for office work. I find it distracting and it takes away from the overall enjoyment of the dining experience.
Mike B — Google review
The food was reall6 fresh and light. Imagine all the Thai favors that you've enjoyed, but the lighter and just as tasty version. Pricing was great, and they're and ton of options for all types of eaters.
Trevour D — Google review
We walked past this restaurant and saw a nice and fun interior so decided to try it. The prices are really low compared to the quality you get. Amazing food to be fair. The staff is really friendly and when I asked to recommend a Thai spicy dish, they delivered. Thank you a lot. If ever back, we be here again. Recommend!

Pracha Rat Floating Market in Bang Bai Mai, Surat Thani, is a vibrant hub of local culture that truly captures the essence of Thailand. Open exclusively on Sundays, this market invites visitors to explore an array of regional crafts and indulge in traditional foods and fresh fruits at affordable prices. To reach this lively destination, you’ll first pass through a serene Buddhist temple before crossing a charming bridge into the heart of the market.
Leave lots of time to enjoy the goodness of this market. If you're foodie this market is for you. Every stall and cook an artisan. The environment is really beautiful and enjoyed by locals. Highly recommend a visit here.

Very nice place. Sunday market very exiting because many things I never saw before. Trip on the water just 100 baht for one boat and the staff is nice. Good in the market is cheap, tastefully and special

Take the boat tour, very serene. Cost only 20 baht per person. The market is full of local food and there’s seating areas along the canal. Parking is well organized and available for free at the temple next to the market.
Phat K — Google review
This market open only on Sunday so check this before you go. Many nice shops with traditional foods and local products. U You can park in the temple and just walk across the bridge. There are also the tourist boat where you can spend sometimes with the canal and nature. People there are super 👍. This is another place in Suratthani you shouldn't miss.
Pattama D — Google review
You must first go through a Buddhist temple before crossing a bridge to get to this market. 'Floating market' isn't really floating, but is in the jungle. They have raft/family canoes to take people out on the waterway, which is like a small river that curves through the jungle. Great variety of food, at cheap prices. Worth a visit. Open on Sundays...

Ko Lamphu Park is a serene oasis nestled on an island in the Tapi River, making it the largest park in Surat Thani province. This public park is perfect for those looking to unwind after a long journey or simply enjoy some fresh air. With its winding walking and biking paths, visitors can immerse themselves in nature while taking in stunning river views. The park also features exercise equipment and a playground, catering to fitness enthusiasts and families alike.
The atmosphere is very good for exercising. The morning air is even better. If you run around Koh Lamphu, it is about 1.5 kilometers. Here, there are football fields, basketball fields, takraw fields, and a playground. The atmosphere is also good. There is no charge for this place. There are no products for sale. However, walking around and enjoying the view is also an option that I recommend (if you are really free).

It can get hot, but all in all, it is a great place to run, have a walk, or just meet with your romantic partner. As an extra good point, this park has running tracks with special coating / pavement for runners! Well appreciated

Beautiful Park suratani town. Very quiet and nice to walk around. There are bike paths in the park, a futsall court, basketball court, swimming pools, volleyball and just a generally really great place

Cute little park, located on an island in the river. Nice place for a jog or a stroll. I walked all the way around in about 20 minutes. Peaceful there, with just the sounds of birds calling, until a long tail boat comes by, that is. Wow, they are noisy! But the park itself is clean and well maintained. Exercise equipment looks shiny and new. Two toilet blocks within the park.

Suratthani stadium which is the place where lots of people doing exercise and hang out. Next to the stadium, also have the Suan Luang Rama IX park, which has nicer weather because of the shady trees than at the Surat stadium. You can choose whether to go to Suan Luang or Surat stadium due to the weather at that time. But if talking about a variety of sports and equipment, the stadium has lots of exercise facilities for people of all ages, such as tennis courts, aerobics, football, futsal, petanque, boxing, basketball, swimming pool, etc. The most popular exercise here is running because of the running track, which has fences to prevent accidents from all types of vehicles. There are also things that should be improved, such as little parking. When you come by car, it might take some time to find a place to park. The toilet is quite dirty, dark, and far from people, so it is a bit scary. You better ask some friends to go with you. After all, if you want to find a place to exercise, this Suratthani stadium is where I recommend you.

Very lively. We went at night. Lots of stalls with food. Great atmosphere. I totally recommend to take a little boat and a guy takes you to see fireflies. It is supercheap and totally worth it. Wat Pattanaram is a well-known royal temple in the heart of Surat Thani city. It is a common type under Nikai Thummayuth and plays an active role in teaching young monks. The temple is famous among Thai people, who believe that once their wishes are fulfilled, they should pray and offer something at this temple. Wat Pattanaram also welcomes disabled individuals with its disabled-friendly facilities.
Great temple in Surat Thani city. Laung Phor Phat is the famous resident monk and he is very old. I just missed seeing him. There was another monk doing blessings though.

Temple that is active, monks on grounds. One of the buildings depicts the life of Buddha through different paintings along the upper walls. The paintings are supposedly 155 years old. Similar to the old Catholic style of giving images for those who don't understand the sermon.

Decent amount of parking but leaving the park during heavy traffic is rough. There is no traffic light or still sign at the intersection.

It's a park for activity. I couldnt find great quiet private areas to sit down. Its full of workout stuff. And a track. Many jog and exercise here. Great sized playground for kids its nice and classic as could be. I prefer the Koh Lamphu island for peace and quiet even though they have activity capability over there too. Needs to be expanded really from my observations, cut thru the tall grass outskirts and made into trails and or peaceful seating zones away from the main loop pond and "work out track" where its all about exercise at this park.

Nestled along a scenic canal, this lively market features colorful boats brimming with fresh fruits, handcrafted goods, and traditional Thai dishes. While the majority of stalls are located on land rather than floating on the water, the atmosphere remains electric with friendly vendors eager to share their local specialties.
Fun market on the water’s edge. Mostly food stalls (if not all) and very friendly venders. Had lunch here and lots of snacks. We enjoy getting a little of this and a little of that and trying lots of different yummy bites.

Monkey Training College, also known as วิทยาลัยฝึกลิง, is a charming retreat located in the lush Thai countryside. The hosts are a delightful couple with a passion for wildlife and their love for animals is evident throughout the property. It serves as a sanctuary for rescued dogs and birds, as well as a school for monkeys. The accommodation reflects traditional Thai architecture, offering visitors an authentic taste of local life.
What a great place and we had a wonderful time. Khun Somjai showed and explained us many interesting things (also beside the monkeys) and spend almost three hours with us even we had been just a group of three. She cares so much about here animals and you feel immediately that the monkeys trust here completely and are feeling comfortable with her. Great experience and we can recommend this to everybody who is interested into a deeper insight in how monkeys can be trained in a proper way to support the farmers in their daily work. This is not a zoo, it’s a training centre and the monkeys have fun to do it as they are not forced to do anything they don’t like! Thank you again Somjai for the nice and interesting afternoon!

If you like animals and want to get to know one of the greatest people on earth, you should definitely visit the monkey college! An absolute recommendation! A unique place with a great atmosphere. Run by one of the most authentic, loving and fun woman we have ever met. Somjai's work with the animals is characterized by so much experience, dedication, patience, humour and love for animals. Having this experience was really something very special for us. Not only were we shown and explained the training process, but we also learned all kinds of things about monkeys and working with them, as well as coconut cultivation and processing in general. Finally, of course, we were served coconuts freshly harvested by monkeys and coconut-banana ice cream made by Somjai <3 Big cuddle greetings to cat <3

We had the pleasure of visiting the Monkey Training College today and we are still deeply impressed! The owner took so much time for us and explained with such love and passion how she works with the animals. You can immediately feel how much she cares about the well-being of the monkeys and her dogs. Our children were thrilled, not only by the exciting training, but also by being able to open coconuts themselves and enjoy the delicious coconut ice cream. It was fascinating to see how the monkeys skillfully picked the coconuts from the trees and how much joy they had while doing it. This is a wonderful, sustainable, and educational program that we can truly recommend. Thank you so much for this nice experience.

She explained everything about the training the monkeys have and also gave us information about how coconut is harvested and how different products are made. She let us taste icecream which she made and was very delicious. We were worried that some of the monkeys have a rope around their neck, but she explained why and made completely sense. (Ropes are long enough and some have 50 metters) .It was a very good experience. All the monkeys are very happy and well kept. Highly recommended if you have free time in Surat Thani.

A Haven for Animal Lovers From the moment I arrived at the charming retreat in the lush Thai countryside, I knew I was in for a treat. The hosts, a delightful couple with a passion for wildlife, welcomed me with open arms and warm smiles. Their love for animals was evident in every corner of the property, which doubled as a sanctuary for rescued dogs and birds, and a school for monkeys. The accommodation itself was a traditional Thai architecture, so you can taste the local life. The hut was clean, included basic amenities, comfortable bed and a terrace that offered a  view of the surrounding greenery and the monkey enclosure. The gentle sounds of nature provided a soothing backdrop, making it the perfect place to unwind. But what truly set this place apart were the hosts. Their knowledge of local flora and fauna was impressive, and they were always eager to share stories about their animal friends. They offered guided walks around the property, where I got to meet the furry residents up close. Additionally, they organize guided tours to the many attractions around their property, like a boat trip over Tapee River, the night market in Surat Thani, or visit to the Khamin Cave. The food was another highlight. Fresh, locally-sourced ingredients were transformed into delicious meals, served with a side of friendly conversation. It was clear that the hosts put their heart into every dish, just as they did with everything else on the property. Overall, my stay was an unforgettable experience. It’s not just a holiday accommodation; it’s a home away from home, especially for those who cherish the company of animals. I left feeling refreshed, with a newfound appreciation for nature and the kind souls who dedicate their lives to protecting it. Highly recommended for any traveler looking to connect with nature and enjoy the warm hospitality of animal-loving hosts.

We had a wonderful day at the Monkey Training College in Surat Thani. Somjai is the most welcoming host. She is very kind, funny and attentive. It was great to see her working with the monkeys and the demonstration was super fun. For the record: we love excursions with animals but are always avoiding the ones where animals are treated cruel. There was no sign of animal cruelty here what so ever. It was very endearing to see how familiar the monkeys were with Somjai. She was treating them with the utmost respect, also when they were naughty, only using rewards to get them to do things in stead of punishment. The monkeys all seemed very relaxed around Somjai. They knew what was expected of them and didn’t seem to mind their ‘chores’ at all. Just like obedient kids in school, doing what their teacher asks them. There really is no difference in keeping a dog and learning it to obey from what Somjai does with her monkeys. We stayed for a couple of hours so Somjai had arranged a tasty Pad Thai from a neighboring restaurant. And she had made us Thai spring rolls that were the best. Afterwords she served us different flavors of homemade ice cream, all made with coconut milk. A very nice treat, especially for the kids. All in all a very pleasant day, great for all ages. Itinerary: We took the night train from Bangkok to Surat Thani, had some breakfast along the way, visited the monkeyschool and later in the afternoon we took the boat to Koh Phangan from the Tapee Pier which is only a 20 minute drive.

Had an amazing and educational time at the Monkey Training College! It's not your typical animal 'farm' which makes it very personal and fun. Somchai is very knowledgeable and cares for the monkeys very much. The location is a little bit out of the way, however well worth the trip if you have some time and are interested to know more about how these monkeys are trained for use on the farms by local farmers. Thank you again and all the best! Schogn & Nok (Bangkok)

My family and I have come to make merit and offer water frequently recently. Because I feel sorry for the monks and novices who have to help clean the temple, which has a large area. The Saturday Night Market in Surat Thani is a bustling open market near San Chao Market. It's known for its wide range of items including clothes, toys, cosmetics, and various knick-knacks. As with most Thai street markets, it offers an array of affordable street food. Visitors can enjoy the lively atmosphere and find great options for souvenirs and delicious local snacks.
Vibrant well organised night market just on a Saturday. In some ways seems an extension of the normal night market. Same food options etc. although more extensive range of cloths, footwear children’s toys when you get into eat. Lovely by the river

Visited a lot of night markets throughout SE Asia and this is one of the best!! Great food with lots of options and the souvenir stalls were great also. There was a live brass band playing by the river as well which added to the great vibes

Good vibes on this local night market. Almost no tourists during our visit (05-Nov-2022). We had some good snacks at some of the food stalls. Nice to visit when on Surat Thani, but not worth to stay a day extra just to visit this local market. Yes, it is only on Saturday like the name implies.

Love to always come here and see kids having so much fun. The cleanest activities and the teachers are so nice to the kids. Live seeing kids being so playful and happy.

Wat Phra Yok, previously known as Wat Sa Kaeo, was established in 1778 and is located in Surat Thani Province. The temple area used to have a large pond and an old chapel built of brick and cement with Chinese-style decorations. Although the temple's area has decreased over time due to urban development, it remains a place for worship and learning about Buddhism.

Nature & Parks
Hiking area
Khao Sok National Park, located in Surat Thani province, is a vast expanse of ancient rainforest and limestone cliffs. Visitors can spend their time hiking, exploring caves, and searching for wildlife. The park's Cheow Larn Lake offers surreal experiences with its mist-shrouded limestone formations and dense jungle surroundings. The area is home to diverse flora and fauna including monkeys, colorful birds, tigers, and unique plant species.
There are a handful of must-see places in Thailand, this is one, without a doubt. Doesn't matter if it's a day trip or overnight on the floating bungalows, do not miss this. A damn built in the 80s that basically flooded a whole region, so an artificial, giant lake in a biome that would normally not have one. Witness man playing God. Caves, jungle walks/hikes, wildlife, lush tropical forest and a cool story of how it all came to be. Words are hard to describe the enormity of this park and the awe you feel navigating it.
Mack B — Google review
I would definitely recommend a day trip to this park, with its huge lake, when you are visiting the Khao Lok area. We had a guided day tour (which I would recommend to see everything) and it was a memorable and enjoyable trip. We stopped at the Three Sisters limestone formations for some photos, and cruised around the lake. We stopped at one of the numerous and unique floating hotels here for lunch, and did some swimming and kayaking. Definitely add it to your list of “must dos” when you are visiting Khao Lok.
Mark P — Google review
One of the highlights of our stay in the area, definitely worth booking a trip to see Khao Sok and Cheow Lan Lake. Fantastic scenery! It’s easy to book a private longtail boat on GetYourGuide. We had a hire car and drove to the park from Khao Lak.

Definitely a must-visit when in Thailand! 🇹🇭✅ My husband and I rented a private boat for 3 hours, including a swimming stop for an hour, and we truly enjoyed the trip. The beauty of Mother Nature gave us goosebumps — absolutely breathtaking! 😍✨

Khao Sok National Park is an absolutely stunning place — one of the most beautiful natural spots in Thailand. The scenery is breathtaking, with dramatic limestone cliffs, lush jungle, and a peaceful lake. There are plenty of activities like canoeing, hiking, and boat tours that let you truly enjoy the nature. Everything feels calm and magical. Highly recommended for anyone who loves nature and adventure!
Eliron S — Google review
I would definitely recommend doing a 2 day 1 night tour as you get to see loads of the national parks sights and you get to wake up on the lake which in my case was spectacular. However be prepared for very basic overnight conditions but it made no difference to us.
Ollie B — Google review
A beautiful park, I'd definitely recommend visiting if you're in Khao Sok!! Although everyone speaks about the lake tours as if this is the only activity in Khao Sok, we found this amazing park full of beautiful scenery of many types - a wild jungle, divine waterfalls & stunning rivers. Entrance fee is 200 baht per person, and you can either enter on your own and walk until a limited point (about 6km back & forth) or you can take a guide and walk further. If you do decide to take a guide, make sure to book them in advance. We decided to walk on our own, so we have more privacy, and it took us about 3 hours long, including some stops on the way, and dipping in the amazing Wing Hin waterfall. To conclude, if you're looking for a more unique and custom made experience in Khao Sok, this is definitely a most visit.
Maya I — Google review
While I loved the park and everything about it, I'd like to bring to attention this boatman guy/ guide, and request all to avoid him to have a stress free trip. This guy speaks no English, and if he does, refuses to talk- as a guide, that is one of the major things one should do. He smoked weed/ some narcotic, made us pay for kayaking (which we had already paid for to our tour operator) - since it was only a 100Baht per person, the three of us who had booked the boat privately paid again because this guy refused to communicate. At the caves, he walked on at his own pace, shining the light randomly, and made to exit within 5 minutes. Thankfully we latched onto another group who had an English speaking guide to make sense of the wonders of the cave. We managed to click a whipping scorpion and a cricket with that group- a stark difference. After leaving the cave, he stopped in the middle of the water to light another joint, at which point we thought it a good idea to fly our professional camera drone for some photography. As soon as our drone gained some height, the boatman moved the boat forward, when we shouted at him with sign language to stop the boat. While landing the drone, since the boat had moved, the drone fell into the water, just short distance from where the boatman sat. Had he not been stoned enough, he could have moved his hand and caught the drone. The drone fell into the water, the boatman looked at the drone, looked at us, and shrugged his shoulders as if to say, your problem. The complain I wish to raise, is that this guy was so stoned, that if a human would have fallen off, he would simply have let the person drown, despite wearing a life jacket and knowing how to swim. Since we had to leave to catch our connecting flight from Phuket to Chiang Mai, we didn't have time to officially complain. In case anyone reads this, please ensure to avoid this guide. For your own well being.

very popular place to get dinner.. and more ! a nice row of small desk where is possible to choose a variety of local fish, meat, veggy, fruit and much more. the many staff will cook your order and bring at your table: original, practic, cheap and convivial... what else ? just hope not found the rain (first condition) and try to get there quite soon to have a really nice choice of food.

Beautiful and serene, great experience. Very hot but I’m also not used to it, so I loved seeing the locals going neck deep. Showers and toilets are beside the pools to wash off beforehand. There is a small corner store in the parking lot. There are a few docile dogs but they leave you well alone. Ample car parking spots

A must visit hot spring. Nature hot spring. Well maintained and clean. Not a lot of people bad 0$ free for tourists local or foreign. It’s nice 😊 lovely.

Well maintained hot springs with free entrance. Make sure to walk towards the rear (north-eastern direction from parking lot) to get to the big natural pool - which is much nicer than the concrete ones at the parking area.

I enjoyed this hot spring a lot. It is free of charge. Very clean and convenient. There are two man made ponds at the entrance and a natural pond a little further on. There are cabins to change clothes. The water is good and full of minerals. I visited this place two times in September, the first time few people were there and the second time nobody was there. I can say it is very private. There is a box for donations and I recommend that people visit the place to donate some little money. Then we can find the place even cleaner.
