Ooty Lake is a captivating man-made expanse, established in 1824, lying gracefully amidst the Nilgiri hills. Its 65-acre spread is framed by lush Eucalyptus groves and offers a central, picturesque retreat from the town's hustle. It serves as the strategic heart of Ooty's tourist attractions. The primary draw is the Boathouse, managed by the TTDC, which offers a range of water sports. Visitors can choose between leisurely pedal boats for self-rowing, traditional row boats with a designated driver, or swift motorboat rides, depending on their group size and preference. Boating charges are tiered with a minimal entry fee (around ₹15 per person). For example, a popular 4 seaters pedal boat ride costs approximately ₹260 plus a refundable deposit for a 30 minutes duration, offering an affordable family activity. Safety is prioritized; life jackets are mandatory and provided for all riders, ensuring a secure experience on the water. It’s important to heed instructions and avoid standing up to maintain stability and fully enjoy the tranquil mountain breeze. Beyond the water, the area features a bustling small amusement park and various local stalls selling goods like eucalyptus oil and homemade chocolates. A very well planned, designed and maintained garden exclusively for Roses... With over 100's of varieties its a feast to our eyes... Kudos to the department officials and the numerous staff members who work tirelessly for the upkeep of this vast area... The garden layout is designed over 4 levels... With well planned layout of variety of rose plants... The staff are courteous... And knowledgeable about the plants, etc... They patiently answer to our queries... Only thing is you should be able to converse in the local language - Tamil. They also have a sles counter... Selling a range of saplings... A definite must visit place... For a calm, serene time... With nature blooming....
I visited the Ooty Rose Garden with a lot of excitement because every time I’ve gone in the past, it was full of colourful roses and truly eye-relaxing views. But this time, I was honestly shocked. There were almost no roses at all, and the entire place looked empty and dull. It felt completely waste to visit. I even asked the workers there, and they said May is the peak season, so that’s why there were no blooms now. Maybe that is true, but still I didn’t expect the garden to look this plain. I went only because of the beautiful memories I had from previous visits, but this time it was very disappointing. I hope they maintain it better throughout the year or at least inform visitors about the off-season, because people travel a long way expecting to see roses.
Very well maintained and planned garden only for different variety of rose. Beautiful garden and you can capture beautify picture for you and your family. Ticket price was 100 rs.

There is also a small tribal hose setting and a sitting bench at the right spot you will get very good views. The entry ticket for this place is 30 rs per adult (extra for camera). It is better to carry hand cash due to poor network availability. Morning is the best time to visit this place. It will be open from 8 15 AM. Multiple stalls, horse ride are available at the entrance. A must visit spot if you are visiting Ooty.
Not worth visiting is what we felt as there are many other places with much more beautiful views. We visited during the 2nd week of March and it was quite sunny so felt very hot there was breeze but felt quiet humid. It is a small hillock which you need to trek not at all for people in their fifties. Maybe couples and kids may like it here but there is nothing there just a 360 degree view. There are many monkeys around so be careful of your belongings. There are shops selling food and drinks near the entrance. Entry fee - 30/- per person.
As a tour operator, I had the pleasure of visiting Wenlock Shooting Point with a group of 92 students. The location is absolutely stunning—wide green meadows and endless blue skies. It’s one of the most scenic spots in Ooty, perfect for photography and nature walks. The view from the top is mesmerizing, giving a cinematic feel to the place. No wonder it’s called a shooting point—many movies have been filmed here! The fresh air and peaceful atmosphere made it a great spot to relax. Students enjoyed running around the open fields and capturing beautiful moments. It’s an ideal place to take a break between busy schedules. There are local vendors nearby selling snacks and tea. Though there’s a bit of a walk to reach the top, the view is totally worth it. The staff and locals were welcoming and helpful. As a tour operator, I found the place safe and well-suited for large groups. We spent quality time here and created lasting memories. Highly recommended for nature lovers, photographers, and student tours
This place is a must visit place if you are visiting ooty. The view from top of hill is really beautiful and peaceful. You will experience here a beautiful view of clouds with greeneries surrounding. There are also many stalls available outside for snacks. You must carry cash for entry fee because of down network to pay online. Horse ride also available.
The view at Wenlock Downs is beautiful and scenic definitely a treat for nature lovers. However, the overall experience was a bit underwhelming. The place was very crowded, and we had to wait quite a while just to find a proper spot. The parking area was extremely dusty, almost like a mini desert, and to make things worse, there was cattle manure scattered all over, which made walking around unpleasant. It could be much better with a little maintenance and crowd management.
In terms of view it offers ,this place is one of top 2 places in ooty. The view is just breathtaking like straight out of movie or something. On the other side of top you can see the view of City. The weather at the top is so pleasing and calm it's soothes your mind and soul. There are cows roaming around eating grass which gives you the feel of being in Switzerland. One of the best places to click pictures with wallpaper like background. If you are visiting Ooty you should not skip this place at any cost it's heaven on earth.
We have to walk approximately 200 meter up the hill for a scenic view. The wind and the chill climate makes the place worthy to relax and enjoy. They have enough parking space. They have toilets for ladies and gents but somewhat clean. Plenty of water availability on the toilets.
The shooting spot is okayish ... The spot is good but you have to visit in the rainy season to see.. You have to hike for some time to reach the top spot. You can spend an hour with your family. Government could have maintained it better ... Parking is a little bit far and there are so many small shops there for food outside the spot ...

Pykara Falls is a beautiful scenic spot! 🌿✨ It’s about a 10-minute walk from the entrance, but there’s also a toy car service available for just ₹25. Entry fee is ₹40. To reach the main viewpoint, you’ll need to walk down around 100–200 steps, which is manageable. It’s a wonderful place to relax, click photos, and enjoy the natural beauty. The surroundings give a very refreshing and peaceful feeling. Highly recommended!
A Walk to a Majestic View The main attraction, the Pykara Waterfalls, isn't visible from the road. Reaching them requires a walk of about 15-20 minutes from the main entrance down a well-paved, fenced pathway. The walk itself is pleasant, winding through a beautiful pine forest. The falls cascade over a series of rocks in multiple layers, creating a powerful and captivating spectacle, especially during the monsoon and post-monsoon months (July to November) when the water volume is at its peak. The sheer force and the roar of the water against the rocky backdrop are impressive. However, for safety reasons, bathing or getting close to the water is prohibited, and visitors view the falls from fenced-off viewpoints. Praises: The scenic beauty of the falls and the surrounding forest is universally acclaimed. The raw power of the water is a major highlight for most visitors. Criticisms: The long walk can be challenging for elderly visitors or those with mobility issues. During the dry season (March to May), the water flow can be significantly reduced, sometimes leading to disappointment.
Pykara Waterfalls is one of Ooty’s most enchanting natural attractions and an absolute must-visit for anyone exploring the Nilgiris. Surrounded by dense forests and rolling green hills, the waterfall flows gracefully in multiple layers, creating a truly picturesque view. The place is calm, clean, and well-maintained, offering visitors a peaceful escape into nature. The short walk to the falls is refreshing, and the sound of rushing water adds to the charm. There’s also a nearby boating area at Pykara Lake where you can enjoy a scenic ride amidst serene surroundings. The best time to visit is during or right after the monsoon when the falls are in full flow and the valley turns lush green. A great spot for photography, picnics, and nature walks, Pykara Waterfalls perfectly captures the beauty and tranquility that make Ooty so special.
It's a wonderful scenic view point. 🌿 Approximately 25km from the city centre, it's surrounded by forest and hills. It's became so stunning during the time of monsoon. But one thing to keep in mind! It's almost 800 meter from the entrance and then have to step down a lot the stairs. Flowing water form middle of the rocks in multiple layers creating a stunning view of nature. The place is also maintained very well ❤️‍🩹 thanks to the govt. And to the visitors too, to keep this place clean and plastic free🟢🌲
Pykara Falls is a stunning natural attraction located about 20 km from Ooty town. The drive to the falls itself is scenic, winding through dense forests, rolling hills, and tea plantations, which makes the journey almost as enjoyable as the destination. Upon reaching, the falls are quite picturesque, with water cascading down rugged rocks into a clear pool below. The sound of the gushing water and the surrounding greenery create a serene and refreshing atmosphere. It’s a great spot for photography and nature lovers. The area is well-maintained, though at times it can get crowded, especially on weekends and during the tourist season. There are small shops and stalls nearby where you can buy snacks, tea, and souvenirs, which is convenient. However, some visitors may find them a bit overpriced. Safety measures near the water are adequate but visitors should still be cautious, especially if traveling with children. Overall, Pykara Falls is a must-visit for anyone exploring Ooty. It’s a peaceful, scenic, and refreshing experience that showcases the natural beauty of the Nilgiris.

Peaceful haven! This lake is a gem, with extraordinary views that will leave you mesmerized. The calm waters, stunning surroundings, and good vibes make it the perfect spot to unwind and recharge. I felt so at peace sitting by the lake, watching the sunset and listening to the gentle lapping of the water against the shore. A must-visit destination for anyone looking to escape the chaos and connect with nature 🌊💆‍♀️❤️
We were fortunate to reach this place early, it wasn't the time to open it up for tourists yet. However, the kind security guard let us in, with tickets ofcourse (he definitely wasn't appreciated by the other staff for doing so - the lake is pretty unsafe, it's deep and there are chances of drowning so stay away from the waters). So, during a holiday season, we had the lake all for ourselves for about half an hour to forty five minutes, it definitely felt like it wasn't enough time. The fog raining down from the mountains over the lake, like an Avalanche - what a sight it was! Do visit this lake if you're planning your trip to Ooty and visit it early morning to enjoy the misty, magical experience! There is a hotel near the parking/safari starting point. They served good breakfast.
The calm, glassy waters mirror the lush greenery. The cool breeze, mist rolling over the emerald hills, and the calm water make it perfect for anyone seeking peace away from the crowd. The drive itself is stunning, passing through tea gardens and winding mountain roads that open up to this hidden paradise. A must-visit for photographers, nature lover. The place is full of charm (and monkeys 😄). They’re friendly but mischievous, so be careful with your food.
The upper Bhavani and lake view road works are going on. Without seeing those views, the Safari ride doesn’t make worth for the money paid. Monkeys. Monkeys. Monkeys. You can’t think of having a bite outside of your car. Monkeys forcefully grabs their shares from our hand.
Absolutely worth exploring, this hidden gem in Ooty offers a peaceful escape from the usual tourist crowds. The route to the lake winds through a serene reserve forest, and after paying a small parking fee, you’ll enjoy a short 100-meter walk through a picturesque pine forest to reach the tranquil waters. Benches are placed around the lake, perfect for sitting back and soaking in the calm surroundings—definitely a spot where you’ll want to linger. For a more immersive experience, hop on the government-run safari jeep. It takes you on a thrilling 6 km ride through the wilderness, showcasing a stunning waterfall, the unique Cauliflower Mountain view, and a panoramic glimpse of Avalanche Lake. Along the way, you might spot deer or bison roaming freely, adding to the adventure. The ride costs ₹250 per person, or ₹2000 for a full jeep that seats up to 8 people. If you're traveling as a couple, they’ll group you with others before setting off. It’s a perfect blend of nature, tranquility, and adventure—definitely not to be missed.
This is the wrong location. Do not navigate here using Google Maps. To reach Avalanche Lake, search for 'Avalanche Lake Parking' instead — this will guide you to the correct destination.
One of the best place We can enjoy nature beauty without any disturbance No much crowd

✨ Review for Thread Garden, Ooty ✨ Thread Garden is one of the most unique attractions in Ooty, showcasing handwoven flowers and plants made entirely out of colorful threads. The craftsmanship is truly impressive – every petal, leaf, and stem is created with such patience and detail that they almost look real. Thread garden, Ooty. Hats-off to all the people who have done this amazing and detailed art work. Most of the flowers here seem so realistic that your eyes won't be able to believe that it's all made of thread, collar stiffs and wires. That too, purely hand made.. Kudos to the workmanship👏 👏 They say, it's a 33 yrs old art work. It's the 12yrs of hard n fruitful work by 50 woman. Wherein they have used 6 crore meters of silk embroidery thread to create these plants. Lighting-wise, they could have made a little better arrangement, especially at the end. It seemed a little dark. Otherwise worth visiting this place. Art and nature lovers will definitely enjoy the visit..

It was like normal pond. Unclear water ! Very crowded place offer multiple water sports/fun activities. If visiting OOTY and have free time to kill, one may visit.
Despite the seasonal crowds, Ooty Lake remains a scenic, essential stop for visitors to the Queen of Hill Stations.

Loved the way it is situated and maintained by the managing team. Parking is an issue inside the premises. They should make a separate parking lot at neighbourhoods but not in premises. I was fortunate enough to witness the Sunday service there. Beautiful hymns and spirituality. One must visit the place and sit for a white to have the feel of the place. I was returning from Ramkrishna math and got dropped at church. Thanks to God
Absolutely serene and outstanding. Easily some of the best stained glass work I have ever seen in one of the most iconic churches in India. The cemetery at the back is poignant reminder of the past and is atmospheric in its own way, with the trees and overgrowth. Am glad the whole space is well preserved.
The architecture of the church is truly a sight to behold, showcasing intricate detailing. The serene atmosphere within the church provides a sense of peace and tranquility for every visitor. The stained glass windows allow colorful light to illuminate the interior, creating a mesmerizing effect. It's clear that great care has been taken in preserving the church's historical significance. Visiting this church is a highly recommended experience for anyone seeking a moment of reflection.
St. Stephen’s Church – Ooty, is a peaceful and timeless place surrounded by tall trees. As I strolled around the premises, I felt deeply connected to the past — every corner seemed to hold a story. The wooden interiors, soft light through stained glass, and quiet atmosphere bring a rare sense of calm. Truly a must-visit spot for anyone seeking silence, history, and grace.
Founded in the colonial era, the church’s foundation stone was laid on 23 April 1829 by Stephen Rumbold Lushington, Governor of Madras, while its consecration took place on 5 November 1830, and public services began on 3 April 1831 . • Designed by Captain John James Underwood (Madras Regiment), it famously incorporates timber from Tipu Sultan’s palace, transported over Sigur Ghat at significant effort and expense (around ₹24,000 at the time) . • The church reflects early Gothic colonial architecture, with pale‑yellow exteriors, a modest clock tower, and a serene flower garden adjacent to the entrance Avoid Sundays if your aim is to explore—services may restrict interior access. • Visit early in the day to enjoy tranquil surroundings and soft natural light through the stained glass. • Mind the cemetery behind the church—historic, evocative, but with modest upkeep. • Respect during prayer times and maintain silence to honor the sacred space.
It's a 195 year old church. Beautiful and peaceful. The stained glass inside is beautiful and not to be missed.
Beautiful church with a very rich history. You should definitely visit it.The architecture is also marvelous.
Small Gothic Church one of the first colonial structions built in the 1820 s on the site of a Toda Temple. Timber for the roof was hauled here by elephant from Tipu Sultan's Palace in Srirangapatnam (Mysore). Nice stained glass windows and an interesting graveyard at the back, but not that outstanding. This is one of the bigger heritage Church in Ooty with beautiful architecture and the compound beautifully decorated with a garden having wide variety of flowers. Also the beautiful view of the hills in the distance was mesmerizing. It was definitely worth the walk. We enjoyed clicking pictures in the Church compound and had a great time. It has a nice peaceful vibe. If you are interested in places of worship, you could surely visit this church.

First things first, this is a privately owned property so the cost will be high. But if you have kids between the ages 5-15, they will enjoy every bit of it. And since the price is high, the place is not crowded so you can enjoy without any inconvenience. We reached there at 10am and felt the whole property was ours :) as other people started to come after 11am. 3D art museum, wax museum, dinosaur park, haunted house, amazon jungle, dashing cars, kids rides etc are good. Snow world is also nice but the jackets and gloves provided are not of good quality. 5D show is just okay. Overall, visit this place if you have kids and are okay to shell out 650/- per head. Couples without kids, bachelors, senior citizens can skip this.
Visited Thunder World with my kids and it was an alright experience. The best thing was Snow world, Dinosaur park & Third eye and rest all was OK. The worst among them are Vortex and infinity because they are nothing. Overall a good place for the kids to enjoy here. The ticket prices are ₹650 for Adults and ₹550 for kids.
Ticket price for this place is 650 per person which covers 11 activities including wax museum, snow world, 5D show and couple of horror related shows along with Crazy car. Wax museum was good. One can take lots of pics with wax celebrities. Snow world experience was below average, accessories (jacket, gloves, shoes) provided were not good. One can take decent pictures though for social media😅. 5-D show: It had to be the worst experience. Staff was least bothered to provide proper instructions. Safety belt should be worn tightly( keep in mind in case one plans to visit). After the show was over, whole body was paining. Crazy car: This is the experience which I enjoyed. One can expect to cover it in an hour or so.Overall for Rs 650, it was okay experience. Kids might enjoy it a great deal.
Surprisingly it as very nice experience. We doesn’t two hours at thunder world. Dinosaur park is perfect of kids while adult will have fun at rainforest and haunted house. We came on weekend with minimal crowd . Will recommmed on weekdays
A good place to visit with family and kids, the wax museum was a different experience. We loved it. But the entry fees was bit high
One of the worst place for family tourists. They don’t know how to behave with kids. Worst and rash behaviour by the staffs and owner. I don’t recommend this place to anyone especially family people. Because after you spend thousands of rupees you will be treated like beggars. And also all the available options are not worth the price. Mist of the machines and kids toys are not working. One lady behaved like goonda with the kids. When i try to ask about this with the manager he also behaved like a local goonda. We totally disappointed by their behaviour. Staffs should know how to treat tourists and their owners also should train them. But here they behaves like goondas. Worst worst worst
Dinosaur park is good, rest not woth the ticket value. Consider some other attraction.
Its a good place to visit near ooty lake. You can easily spend 3-4 hours. It has a food court. Good for kids. It is very near to Ooty train station. Dino park, Snow world are very good.
