Mexican restaurant
Restaurant
Located in Hualien City, Dos Tacos is a Mexican and Central American restaurant known for its delicious food and friendly service. The rustic ambiance of the place is enhanced by the use of wood elements and warm colors, creating a welcoming atmosphere that complements the aroma of smoked barbecue. The owner, Jason, who has traveled to over 40 countries, brings his passion for authentic cuisine to this eatery. Visitors have praised the quality of the food and quick service provided by the friendly waitstaff.
Food is good and enough for an adult. We had steak fujitas and veggie salad plus some beers. Would be great if the air conditioner could be cooler.
Xavier S — Google review
This is a decent Mexican restaurant on the East Coast. We ordered a pulled pork enchilada, a beef burrito, a vegetable soup, and a peach empanada. The pulled pork was a bit tough and had no flavor; I had to soak it in hot sauce. The beef burrito was well seasoned but was baked (my first time ever eating a baked burrito). The vegetable soup had no flavor. The peach empanada was the highlight - nice cinnamon flavor and solid vanilla ice cream on top. Overall, the price is not justifiable. You should probably go elsewhere to satisfy your Mexican cravings.
Daniel P — Google review
Me and my friend enjoyed a nice lunch there, and the service was exceptional and the enchiladas were fantastic. I had the beef enchiladas and my friend had the pulled pork enchiladas. We also got chips and salsa and guacamole. They have a good selection of tequila. We had a couple shots of patron and Jose Cuervo 1800, as well as very good house margaritas. This restaurant is in a great location on a corner with great views and lighting in a nice area. They also have a very good selection as you can see in the menu pictures I have posted. I would definitely recommend and return to this great restaurant.
Dale S — Google review
Polite, friendly, quick service and great food! I had chicken hard tacos, passion fruit soda, and a peach empanada.
Erica S — Google review
Everything was great about this place, the atmosphere, music, waitress and cook. Our group was satisfied with all of our individual meals, however, we thought the nachos sizing could be a bit larger for the price. It was around 385 ntd for the large size and we split it amongst 4 of us and it did not feel like a lot of chips. But everything else was top tier, I just wish they had birria tacos as a choice (I got the pulled pork, which was close enough). They had fried ice cream which looked interesting, but we didn't order it.
Kevin Y — Google review
Amazing food and atmosphere! We had nachos to start followed by quesadillas and a burrito and a Ice cream to share to end! And a passionfruit mojito and a big beer which both were delicious as well. And price for all was 1900 All in all we had an amazing evening! Staff was very very friendly! If you are not from Taiwan be sure to bring cash :-) We recommend this place a lot and we think its worth the price as it serves great quality food! FYI: Staff is also multilingual and the menu is also in english 😁
JukJuk — Google review
Never had a chance to try Mexican food before, not even be able to spell the name of the food correctly, but even without any experience, it won’t be difficult to love the amazing food here. We like the taste and quality of Fajitas steak. Pulled pork comes perfect in Nachos, and the cheese in Enchiladas and Quesadillas is a charm. The deep fried ice cream is not just ice cream, it’s something from heaven! Highly recommended👍!
Neil — Google review
The food here is served quickly and the service is very nice! Love the atmosphere and delicious drinks. The food is not spicy, and it is not greasy. Its own distinct flavors will make you want to keep eating. The desserts are very special and lovely.

Dongdamen Night Market

Flea & Street Markets
Dongdamen Night Market, also known as Hualien Night Market, is a lively and energetic outdoor market in Hualien, Taiwan. It's a popular destination for both locals and tourists, drawing visitors from near and far to experience its vibrant atmosphere. The market offers a diverse range of local street food that reflects the fusion of indigenous, Hoklo, and Hakka influences in Taiwanese cuisine.
Night markets in Taiwan tend to have narrow walkways n crowded. This is quite a breath of fresh air as the streets are wide n spacious, franked by rows of stores selling all kinds of Taiwanese food, tidbits, snacks, bubble teas, QQ eggs, BBQ fish, BBQ corns, cooked food, etc.
Alvin Y — Google review
A main night market here in Hualian. Very easy walk in this used to be crowded night market. I was here on a Thursday night and the market has quieten down, we can also see some stalls vacant in this used to be brimming with visitors night market. Tourist has dwindled due to typhoon and weather change. Do come at least once if you’re here, you will still feel the warmth and passion of the store owners for a pleasant local experience.
Abber T — Google review
Not a very exciting market. Many shops still closed. Mostly games for kids and low quality food. Nothing I’d go back for. There were a couple nice shop owners like the paint to number stall. Good prices and friendly. The Jordanian artist next to him was also amazing. Very kind and took time to talk about his sand art with us. There is some live music on different corners. Some was good and some wasn’t. Won’t be going back. Sorry.
Richard K — Google review
It was like visiting a town fair. Lots of games for kids to enjoy. There was a free concert when I went. The food is the same you would get anywhere in Taiwan: noodle soup, fried chicken, sushi (looked great!) meat barbecue and seafood. You would not miss much if you don't visit here.
Angelita A — Google review
It was an amazing experience walking through this well set up, organised and clean massive night market! So much to see and so many food stalls to choose from. Tried the salted pork and oysters stall. E27 (if I'm wrong)It was sooo delicious and well worth the money Queued up for the French Toast Sandwich. Stall E80. Chose the Sichuan pepper pork filling and was pleasantly surprised to receive a small drink to go with it. A total of just 65TWD is such a bargain for such deliciousness. Plenty of proper sitting places to enjoy our food!
Flora T — Google review
Great local market. It looks better than most (if not all) night markes in taipei. Various vegan / vegetarian options. It has both food, drinks, random stors and games.
Shai M — Google review
I visited during Taiwan national holiday and the atmosphere was special and lovely. My wife and I liked the buns shop and ate also a shaved ice desert. There were also some singers in each of the market streets.
Ori B — Google review
Love the laid-back vibe of the place. Live music and the stalls were more spread out. While we went towards the end of the night, we still had a good time. Tried some food we've never had before, like birds nest fern.

Deep-fried Egg Scallion Pancake (Yellow Truck)

Mentioned on
2 lists
$$$$cheap
Deli
The Deep-fried Egg Scallion Pancake (Yellow Truck) is a popular food stall known for its regional fare and half-cooked eggs with scallion pancakes. The queue can be long, but the freshly made, hot, crispy, and savory pancakes are worth it. The soft-boiled egg is fried separately from the batter and adds a creamy texture to the dish.
I queued for about 25-30 minutes and it was worth it. You have to get an egg inside because when you bite into the pancake the yolk goes everywhere. I bought two and I'm glad I did. Really tasty. 45NT. I don't think it's a bad price for what it is.
Thomas J — Google review
I’m so in love with the pancake here. The best part is the runny egg inside, full mouth of happiness! The pancake’s skin was also very special, crispy yet chewy taste. Reasonable price, just hope they can offer line payment later.
Amy N — Google review
📍Place: it seems like a the road of scallion pancakes, as the other famous place is also very close to here. Just as the name suggests, it's a food truck, so naturally only takeaways. 🍛 Food: I can't make a difference between this and the other place, both pancakes are very delicious, crispy on the outside, soft and a little spicy on the inside, with a runny egg - pay close attention when eating and bring some napkins. 👩🏻‍🍳 Service: they are nice, speak some level of English too. It is very intense, high demand so you can end up queuing a little. Cash only.
Viktor L — Google review
If you favour savoury over sweet snacks, then this is yummy yummy. It's as basic as it sounds - a scallion pancake with a fried egg - but it's executed to perfection. It baffles me how they manage in this hole-in-the-wall location. Crispy, yet not overcooked, just the right degree of runny yolk, flavours rightly balanced. Best 45 TWD spent so far on this trip.
Michael F — Google review
A taste of hualien rendition of scallion pancake! Scallion is not as much as the usual version but this taste great as well with the special sauce and chilli. Lucky there is no Q when we went at 4.30pm
Byean — Google review
This is one of the best roadside scallion pan cake 'bomb'. It's an egg sandwiched between the scallion and folded. There's very limited seats before the stall and has a small plastic bag for your trash. It's going to have a long queue in the afternoon. Has spicy and non spicy versions. Three pancakes NTD130.
L ( — Google review
Had 4-5 people ahead of us but we were served very promptly. Waited around 5mins for our order of 2 to be ready when we went on a Wednesday at their opening time. Super friendly service. 10/10 worth it, must try! Get the chilli egg addons if you can take slight spice. It’s not very spicy but adds a whole new dimension to the flavour.
Yvia L — Google review
Street side stall woth a yellow truck selling scallion fried egg batter. Basically a fried batter with a cooked egg inside. Spicy or regular. Careful eating as the yolk will squirt out. Not much onion or scallion. Flavor is crispy and not oily. But eat it fresh. Often line up take 30 mins or more.

Zhou Jia Xiao Long Bao Steamed Dumpings

Deli
Zhou Jia Xiao Long Bao Steamed Dumplings is a popular spot in Hualien known for its decades-old tradition of serving local versions of Xiao Long Bao. The steamed dumplings are filled with flavorful soup, resembling Xiao Long Tang Bao, and come with various dipping sauces to enhance the taste. Despite the small and crowded space, the service is quick, and orders can be placed through a QR code-linked webpage.
The xiao long bao here is incredible. It’s Hualien style so it’s fluffy on the outside, kind of like bbq pork bun? I cannot get enough of it. You order using a QR code, then you go to the front and pay with cash. Then you wait at your table to get your food. The line is very quick. Definitely recommend this place! 2 people can easily eat 10 xiao long bao and dumplings.
Andrew I — Google review
Cheap, big quantity, fresh, and tasty. If you like you Xiao Long Bao skin thick this is the place to go. The skin is soft and yet there is still soup in it.
Matthew W — Google review
INCREDIBLE. Best pan bao I’ve had in my life and the best thing was the price 10 baos for than 2€ I am flabbergasted.
Lydia A — Google review
**Rating: ★★★★★** Zhou Jia Xiao Long Bao Steamed Dumplings is a must-visit for dumpling enthusiasts! The xiao long bao (steamed soup dumplings) are nothing short of exceptional, with thin, delicate wrappers and a flavorful, juicy filling that bursts with every bite. The dumplings are perfectly steamed and offer a satisfying balance of savory broth and tender meat. The restaurant’s inviting atmosphere and friendly staff enhance the dining experience, making it a great spot for both a casual meal and special gatherings. If you’re in the area, Zhou Jia Xiao Long Bao is a top choice for an authentic and delicious dumpling experience that you won't want to miss!
Toon T — Google review
Easy, quick, delicious. If you eat in, you scan the QR code on the table and order there. The menu is only in Chinese, but you can use google translate in your phone. The workers were really nice, since I didn’t know what I was ordering they told me I ordered too much for one person. I took lots to go! The food came quick too.
Ashlin K — Google review
A very good food, not salty filling, fast service, and really cheap! 40$ for dumplings!
Jah C — Google review
Dumplings are good, great value for money. The staff members are not nice at all, without any patient for any queation. Not much room to sit inside.
Shai M — Google review
While 公正包子 (which is just beside Zhou Jia) is lot more popular, Zhou Jia in my opinion has better quality. And it's 10 TWD more expensive. Firstly, the bao skin is thinner, which means the fillings are actually slightly more. Next, the fillings are also tastier. Try this the next time you are here.

Brunch restaurant
Ice cream and drink shop
Miao Kou Black Tea is a popular spot in Hualien, Taiwan, known for its bustling atmosphere and hearty snacks. The shop is open 24 hours a day and always draws a crowd of devotees. While waiting in line, visitors can watch as piping hot cups of tea are dropped from the first-floor kitchen through brass tubes.
Rustic place that served traditional Taiwanese breakfast. Relatively small seating area and be prepared to queue. The pancake with pork floss was delicious! And washed them down with the peanut soup or almond drink.
Choon T — Google review
It’s a traditional tea/snack shop. The cake (Chinese macarons) was very soft and not too sweet. It’s semi outdoor so no air condition
A F — Google review
Really. Really. Good. I had liming the day before and I prefer miao kou. Food was good and affordable and I even had 2 red tea in a day! - Went back during lunch to get red tea despite having this for breakfast. Encourage all tourist to pay this a visit! Beside this stores, there’s also gong zheng. These 2 restaurants are one of my favourite in hualien!
Yi N — Google review
Another great treat, we had a local famous and popular breakfast. Ordered different ingredient egg pancakes, white radish cake with egg, traditional black tea and almond drink. Very tasty, delicious, actually somewhat brought back my childhood memory. It’s located by the Temple and business is busy with very reasonable price. Strong recommend you to try it.
J.David H — Google review
A very authentic shop selling legendary drinks and various foods. Good service. I really like the black tea, toast, and traditional foods such as: dan bing.
Adrianto O — Google review
A very quaint, old school looking tea shop situated in front of a temple (thus the name of the shop). This place literally transports you back in time with its decor. Ordered the black tea (the actual Chinese name is translated directly as "red tea"). Tastes rich and sweet. The almond milk tea felt a bit diluted. The carrot cake with egg was delightful and the bacon egg roll was simple and nice. Liked the chill relaxed atmosphere.
Wei L — Google review
Old fashion traditional red tea and breakfast shop, they sell very interesting and good taste desert that you don’t see it everyday, do recommend to visit when your around, but since is Covid time, there’s no seats for you to sit down and eat they only do take out. Overall good experience.
Esther L — Google review
Authentic local breakfast “red tea opposite the temple”. Frequented by locals. We had warm soy milk (Dou jiang) and Chinese donuts (Yu Tiao) as well as egg crepes (Dan bing) stuffed with corn and pork floss. The soy milk is fresh, sweetened with sugar. Balanced with the donuts which you dip in. They also serve local macarons and stuffed meat glutinous rice pyramids. A nice casual breakfast.

Salt Lick Smokehouse & Grill

American restaurant
Salt Lick is a cozy and casual eatery that specializes in serving up delicious roasted ribs, classic pizza, sandwiches, and sausages. Located in Hualien City, this restaurant has garnered rave reviews for its tender and flavorful brisket, mouthwatering ribs with mac and cheese, and fall-off-the-bone wings. The dining area offers a comfortable atmosphere while the service is top-notch. Additionally, patrons can enjoy craft beers to complement their hearty meals.
Excellent American food!! Stayed here for the evening to escape the rain! Reasonable prices and lots to choose from. We shared poutine and pulled pork plate, huge portions and very tasty !
Tara O — Google review
The best place for American style cuisine in Hualien. I got a beer flight to try three different draft beers and the wings. Both were solid. This place is also known for their pizzas and BBQ meats, but it was just myself and did not have much of an appetite. Still, I really enjoyed the wings, they were spot on. The vibe is pretty friendly as well and had a pleasant time as I watched some tennis matches on the TV above the bar. Look forward to coming back to check out the other menu items!
Mark B — Google review
The food was honestly amazing. I was shocked. The wings were huge, very meaty flavorful. I had a root beer float they put ice in it, which was an interesting twist, but still good. Do not sit at the bar seats are horrible! You are better off waiting for a table!!
Danny — Google review
Best American Restaurant in TW. “Pulled pork burger with buffalo hot sauce” “Onion rings” “French fries” “Nice beer”
D L — Google review
Yes! Hands down one of the best in Taiwan for Chicago deep dish pizza! And their Ribs! Thumbs up! Falls right off the bone. BBQ sauce is flavorful not overpowering the meat. Fries! Fries! Skin on potatoes perfection. Service is on point. Highly recommend. Oh portion is good for 4 people! At least!
Albert Y — Google review
This was my first time at the restaurant, and it was a great atmosphere, and the service was very good. They had a pretty good selection of beers and plenty of outdoor seating. It’s in a nice area of town that’s very walkable. I went upon the recommendation of a local friend.having tried barbecue all over the United States, and especially Texas, this was good, but definitely not my best. If you are looking for a good place to get ribs, beer, and enjoy a nice evening dinner. Definitely check this place out.
Dale S — Google review
Because sometimes you need a break from Taiwanese cuisine. Enjoyed our pizza, brisket-topped salad, and craft beers. 🍕 🥗 🍺 Nailed the American themed ambiance down to the live Taiwanese baseball game on the televisions.
Jeffrey B — Google review
Finger lickin‘ good! Probably the best Burger one can find in Taiwan. Service is excellent as well. So if the idea of some classic US american food should pop up, you know where to find it. 🤞

Hamburger restaurant
Restaurant
Boom Burger is a new burger joint in Hualien, Taiwan that offers a variety of tasty options beyond just burgers. Their menu includes pizza and other items to choose from. This American-inspired restaurant provides big portion burgers with sides like fries, pickled cucumbers, and ketchup. Prices range from approximately 170-270 ntd and include a drink such as black or green tea. The freshness of their food is guaranteed as both pizzas and burgers are made on the spot.
Great burgers & fries. The bun is delicious, the egg and bacon were perfectly cooked. The patty could be juiced but It’s overall very good. Worth mentioning the fries and onions rings, both very crunchy. Price are good and service is nice. Highly recommended.
Nicola — Google review
A typical hidden gem. Quite a small establishment with a few tables, but the burgers are made with dedication and love. We had to park our car a bit further away and walk here, but totally worth it. No idea what they do with the French fries, but they were so crispy! All fingerlicking good. If you're in for a burger in Hualien, definitely pay them a visit.
Sander M — Google review
Juicy, big fire, fresh ingredients and the brioche bum makes it a winning combination. It’s so hard to find a good veggie burger. Their shitashi mushroom burger is one of the best I ever had. Service is a bit slow, but worth to wait. Beef burger is best with avocado, or it’s a bit dry.
The A — Google review
Craving a juicy burger? Look no further. Delightfully surprised that this area of Taiwan was home to tasty burgers. Open at 4:30PM, we came hungry and left feeling stuffed in the best way. Burgers come with a side of super crispy, seasoned fries - still soft in the middle. And either Iced Green or Iced Black tea. Refills are $10. Free water provided as soon as you sit down. You can customize the meat in your burgers - get classic beef, or pork or chicken. Matt got the Beef Burger Boom that came loaded with a fried egg and bacon. I ordered their Nahala Burger with a chicken patty, came with sprouts, melted cheddar, onion and tomato. Each bite was heavenly. Juice dripped thick and the bun was delicious. They toast their buns at the top so if you don’t like that, just let them know. We also ordered their mozzarella sticks - also wonderful. Seasoned and served with a light mayo dipping sauce that complimented each bite. Burgers are priced from 190NT - 220NT, our order came out to 460NT, really not too bad considering that would be the total cost for 1 gourmet burger in the USA. Pay with cash is best. Beer served here for 75NT. They also have a variety of sweetened iced beverages like plum and orange for 80NT. Very nice employees. Food made to order.
Jenae L — Google review
I bumped it up to 4 stars just because the service was good. Burgers here are alright, nothing to rave about. I ordered the berry drink and thought it was okay. I was surprised that it was more like a soda than a juice, but still pretty good. The fries that came with the drink were tasty, but they’re pretty typical of what you could find at any other burger joint in Taiwan. The blue cheese burger was better than the salsa burger—the salsa burger needed some Tabasco sauce to make it better. Ambience was nice, but nothing too special. Overall it was pretty good, but nothing amazing.
Brendan S — Google review
It's giving american vibes y'know~ Big portion burger, it comes with a drink (black or green tea), fries, pickled cucumbers and ketchup. Price: ~170-270 ntd. There are also pizza, fried stuffs, drinks too. Pizza and burgers are made on the spot, therefore the freshness.
PY C — Google review
ordered the bacon burger. we were given a choice of meat for the patty so I chose chicken. the flavours blended really well together. all in all a very welcome nourishment after a long day in the mountains

Western restaurant
Three Koalas 三隻無尾熊 is a popular restaurant in Hualien known for its laid-back atmosphere and American cuisine. The owner, Mr. Mizobichi Tsuyoshi, originally from Japan, named the restaurant "Open Sesame" to make it easy to remember. It has become a memorable spot for locals over its 20 years of operation.
Every dish we tried was excellent.. Buffalo Chicken Wings were awesome.. Satay Chicken, daily soup, cheese pizza were all great.. Even garden salad was tasty and French fries crispy and fresh and really good. If you're in town and crave food other than Chinese, this restaurant is a must. I highly recommend it.

Great food, we didn't have to wait long and it was a great flavour for a good price.
Rena-Jayne S — Google review
Just visited this restaurant for lunch. Absolutely brilliant food. If you are passing through Hualien and need to fill up I would highly recommend this place. I usually highly critical of western food in Taiwan and the so called high rated places usually get a zero from me. This one time I was impressed. I think that the main reason for this is the owner (bless his heart) works alongside his staff churning out the dishes. He is a dying breed of restaurant owners that actually runs the kitchen shoulder to shoulder ensuring every dish that passes his counter is perfect. I'm no michelin star fan and think they are overrated and believe the true essence of a meal is in the passion one puts in to make it and Three Koala's in Hualien is no exception to that rule. We had the spicy wings, honey wings, cheese burger, minced beef panini and a few drinks. Every item was tasty and served with. Now to the highlight of our lunch - Dessert. We ordered 2 brownies with ice cream. I have eaten brownies all over Taiwan for the last 5 years. This was "The Best" I have ever eaten period. I never give a 5 star rating. But today "Three Koala's" deserves every corner of every star it's rated. My rating: Food - 5 Ambience - 4 Service - 5 Value - 4.5 Overall Experience - 5 PS - Apologies for the photos. We were too busy eating to bother taking pics... Cheers!!
Errol M — Google review
I love this restaurant because the food is always delicious and the price is also reasonable. The pizza is relatively small for an adult, therefore it’s best to order pizza long with another dish, like I did. Eating here reminds me of back home in the West.
Demiah C — Google review
I ordered the bacon, egg, cheese beef burger and it was PHENOMENAL!! The meat was perfectly juicy - not over cooked/dry and not bleeding on my plate. The French fries were nicely seasoned (and not super greasy!) and the honey mustard mayo dipping sauce was a yummy compliment to the fries. The atmosphere was clean and cozy. You must eat here and have this experience!! 🙌🏽👏🏽👍🏽 And the Oreo Milkshake? Let’s just saw it was so delicious (not too heavy) that it disappeared quite quickly. 😋🙈😆

Delicious authentic pizza, fantastic bread, and great selection of jams and other European goodies. iOven was a truly memorable experience. The pizza was wonderful, one of the best I've ever ate, and the friendly couple running this place made the experience truly unique by engaging in casual conversations, giving tips about the region and so on. The interior has modern-antique vibes with koi fish ponds. They offer hotpot, rice bento, and good tea options. The food received mixed reviews but the ambiance was praised as a nice place to chill out.
I don’t know why it’s only noted 4 stars. We came here twice because the first time blew our minds. Everything we tested was excellent. I can’t recommend enough the spicy noodles. The mackerel is perfect. And if you like boba you can select any tea and add bubbles. My dairy free recommendation: the black sesame milk.

It was very expensive for very regular tasting food and tea. The interior was pretty, the staff was helpful. Not really worth it as a tourist. There’s so many better places to visit and experience local foods, drinks and culture. We had a set meal of fried pork, some greens dish and a beef noodle soup. You only get one cup of tea which seems quite odd taking into account it’s a tea house. Maybe I just don’t understand how tea houses function in Taiwan.

The atmosphere is very nice, I got a table without a reservation. The conditions are very nice. The food is delicious and I will gladly come back.

I coincidentally passed by this place and spontaneously decided to go in as the exterior design with a koi pond looked promising. The interior design was also lovely: everything was made from wood and there were different rooms and separate corners so it felt cosy despite its size. The food menu was comprehensive and available in English as well. I only tried two dishes: the sesame oil chicken noodle soup and the fried tofu. Both were tasty butwere missing a bit of salt and spice. I would have liked to add some spicyness to the soup with chilis and also sweet & sour or a spicy dip first the tofu would have been great. A glass of cold tea was included. The waitresses were lovely and very helpful

Random city walkin and found this restaurant. Authentic Chinese decoration but server with dim sum as well as Japanese food also. The staff is rather friendly and polite.

Nice place to chill out. The milk tea is nice and smooth, and you can adjust the sugar levels of the various drinks there. The food is quite nice, especially the har kau, fried squid balls, fried bean curb with prawn. Price is quite reasonable.

I saw a lot of reviews while looking for bubble tea on hualien, so I decided to check out this place! Decoration of the tea store is very nice and i really love it! I tried the bubble green milk tea large for $112 (not sure). It is ok, nothing special, the bubble is hard and chewy 🥲 Food is also just ok, I tried chicken and dumplings!

Hualien Airport

Airport
Hualien Airport (HUN) is a small yet tidy and well-organized airport. Despite its size, it offers essential amenities such as a cafe and souvenir shops for travelers. The airport's compact nature ensures that it is not crowded, providing a hassle-free experience for passengers. Nearby accommodations like Before Sunrise Seaview B&B offer convenient access to the airport, making it an ideal choice for those seeking comfort and accessibility during their travels to Hualien City.
Information desk people at departures / taxi level is very helpful and kind, working on Chinese New Year’s Eve. Quite little airport with a small cafe on upper floor. Info desk people can call taxi for you which accepts non cash payments if needed. We didn’t have a Taiwan savings card for the Taiwan postal ATM so had to download a local taxi app to pay for taxi by card. At night, not many taxis will stop or wait there due to limited flights departing / arriving at the airport. Definitely get some local currency exchanged at home country beforehand as many taxis still only accept cash. We didn’t see any FX currency conversions counters or stalls at the arrivals or departure halls.

I had a positive experience here. The staff were all friendly: from the ticket agent to the security. There is ample seating, which is actually quite comfortable. From the outside, and most of the interior, the terminal appears modern and clean. A few drawbacks: there is nothing to buy here (so if you forgot to buy gifts for your friends, it's too late). There seemed to be a mini restaurant on a lower level, but I didn't have the time or energy to check it out. The men's bathroom had two broken sinks and only one that worked.

Pretty Nice and the airport staff are familiar

Tiny airport, but clean and efficient. It has a café and a couple of souvenir shops.

There was only one money exchange store in the baggage reclaim area. Remember to exchange currency there because you cannot go back after the customs control.

Taichung International Airport

International airport
Transportation
Taichung International Airport is located in a city with a population of 2.8 million, making it the third largest in Taiwan. To reach the airport from Taoyuan International Airport, passengers can take a shuttle bus to THSR Taoyuan Station, then transfer to THSR Taichung Station and finally take Nantou Bus to Qingjing Farm. The journey takes approximately 2 hours and costs around NT$262 per person.
⭐⭐⭐I have taken a flight to Kinmen once before. The airport in Taichung has domestic and international flights✈️✈️✈️. Most of them take international flights to the outer islands of Taiwan and the international terminal. The airport lobby is clean and bright, and you can feel the care taken by the airport staff in maintaining it. To get to the bus station or take a taxi, you need to walk to the parking lot outside the terminal. The currency exchange bank, ambulance station and other facilities next to the lobby are quite complete. There are restaurants and convenience stores inside such as Laerfu, so there are not many choices for the whole family. 🏝️🏝️🏝️ At present, the routes of Taichung Airport are gradually expanding, and the ticket counters of international airlines have even been moved to the side of domestic flights. More routes and flights should be added in the future. However, the current external transportation at the airport is not convenient. In addition to driving, picking up and dropping off, and taking taxis, the only public transportation is buses, and it is far from the city. It may not improve until the MRT is opened in the future.

Small and nothing special. Transport going to the hotels and other places is kind of unpredictable and inconvenient. I wish there will be improvements on my next visit.

This was my first visit to Taichung International Airport. It wasn’t a huge airport like Taoyuan but it was bright, clean, functional as well as spacious. There were lots of seats for waiting passengers. Counters were near and information boards were always updated with flight details promptly. There were 2 atriums, one for Domestic flights and the other for International flights. We were taking Uniair to Kinmen and counters were very neat. Counter staff were also very polite and experienced. Washrooms were spotless, spacious.

It is a convenient and compact airport with free wifi . There is only one restaurant/café once you go through customs and a few duty free shops. There's also a play area for kids and a few nice spots to sit down while waiting for boarding.

Too many luxurious duty free in the transit zone and too few eateries, no convenience store. However, there are plenty of AC and USB sockets for charging, nice WiFi, functional restrooms. And most importantly, it's clean.

Nice new international terminal, the domestic one is very dated, but has more food options. Small size and efficient staff means it's easy to use, and for Taichung residents the convenience is worth it. Also a viable option for foreign tourists if there are cheaper flights into Taichung, with airlines like Tigerair, T'Way and VietJet starting RMQ flights this year. There are new airport express buses running through the city (King Bus 國光客運 A1, A, A3, 100NTD) as well as the cheaper 302 from Taichung Train Station down the express lane on Taiwan Blvd. The international departures area has good duty free shopping, rest areas, and play areas and library for kids. But there is only one restaurant. The food is good but would have expected much more.

Nice airport, not too crowded. It is very convenient to travel from 台灣大道 by the 302 bus.

I arrived here on Feb 20, 2017 and departed here on Feb 24, 2017. I paid the cheapest fare from Hong Kong to Taiwan if I landed here. Although the airport looks nice, there is no rail link and public buses to city centre or railway stations run infrequently!
