The Toyota Automobile Museum is a fascinating destination for car enthusiasts, showcasing the evolution of automobiles through rare and classic cars. The exhibition hall provides a comprehensive narrative of Toyota's entrepreneurial journey, reflecting the historical transformation of the country with products from different eras. Located near the 2005 Aichi World Expo venue, the museum features antique cars from America, Europe, and Japan spanning over a century.
A must-visit for car lovers and history buffs! The Toyota Automobile Museum in Nagoya is not just about Toyota — it showcases an incredible collection of vehicles from all over the world, covering the evolution of the automobile industry. The exhibits are beautifully presented with English descriptions, making it easy to follow. The building is spacious, clean, and thoughtfully designed. There’s also a nice café and a gift shop with unique souvenirs. Whether you’re into vintage cars or just want to learn something new, this museum is well worth the visit!
Ting F — Google review
Great place to trace the history of Toyota, from their automobiles all the way back to their textile origins. Be intrigued by the scale of their manufacturing processes, all the way back to making all the parts and components from scratch. Lots of antique cars to their latest models, hybrids, and conceptual cars. Lots of visitors participation’s activities, guided tours, or simply wandering around to take in all the sights and history. Certainly a great memorable experience and should never be missed when visiting Nagoya.
Martin Y — Google review
Purchased tickets upon arrival. First big stop in Nagoya and it did not disappoint. Went early to try and avoid crowds and even when it got busy, still not too crowded. Such a cool collection of cars from ALL manufactures, not just Toyota. Must stop for anyone remotely interested in cars of any type.
Ryan L — Google review
Great collection or cars displaying the evolution and the history of motor cars. Staff at ticket counter spoke English as well which made it all very easy! Stand out for me was the prototype LFA Spyder (one of two). Definitely worth the visit for this alone!
Mackenzie R — Google review
The museum was a bit far from Nagoya’s center, but we had a great time. Be sure to follow the correct order of the museum, as we accidentally went backwards because the flow wasn’t very intuitive, especially on the first floor. I wanted the museum to be solely focused on Toyota, but it also showcased other car brands.
A M — Google review
An amazing museum with collection of cars from around the world-not just Toyota. Really a history of the automobile, with many rare examples. Highlight is the collection of artifacts, we ended up spending an hour just browsing. If you like cars or car culture a must-see destination. Good curry in the restaurant too!
Elbert L — Google review
This museum is incredible. There is much more than just Toyota's here. If you're interested or looking for something to do for a car enthusiast, I highly recommend going here. You can see Toyota's history and lineage since it's beginning. There are so many rare vehicles here it's awesome, almost like setting in a time machine and seeing these vehicles right off the assembly line.
Dustin N — Google review
Brilliant range of cars (not just toyota) showing the history of the automobile industry in japan. All exhibits are translated to English so very foreigner friendly. Not crowded even on a holiday and easy to access via train. You also don’t need to pre-book tickets so great to kill a few hours time while you’re visiting Nagoya. A must for any car nerd visiting Japan

Ghibli Park

Theme park
Park
Ghibli Park, located on the outskirts of Nagoya, is a newly opened theme park dedicated to the iconic movies and animated works of Studio Ghibli. It is the world's first park of its kind and has quickly become a popular attraction since its late 2022 opening. Visitors can explore attractions like Ghibli's Grand Warehouse, which are now accessible to overseas visitors.
If you love Studio Ghibli cinema this a must visit experience and will not dissapoint. The scale of this place is amazing and so picturesque. Tickets are extreamly difficult to obtain so researching the ticket sale dates and getting on quick is highly recommended. Don't be too disappointed if you don't manage to get the premium pass either as you really don't miss out on the experience. Would definitely go again. Best place to buy Ghibli merchandise aswell as they have exclusive items not sold anywhere else. 100% recommended!!!
Amelianicola — Google review
First of all; getting tickets really is that complicated and stressful like everyone says. If you want that premium pass ticket, you have to get up early and stay queueing until it’s your turn to buy the tickets. The park overall was fine. The queues weren’t that bad, I would say average. Getting there at 9 AM (1 hour before the park opens) is a game changer because the queue for the valley of witches (including the souvenir shop) goes really fast and you can easily switch places with your friend to explore the „free“ park around. Apparently it’s a trend to run to the gift shop immediately after the park opens, so the queue will always be around 40 minutes but we were able to secure limited merch even after 12:40PM. So don’t stress. Entering the little buildings with a premium pass was hassle free and an absolute game changer. Loved every part that was recreated to explore and interact with. My only regret is picking the 1PM Grand Warehouse Entry because we were really sleepy and exhausted after hustling through everything and barely had the energy to go and see Dodonko Forest, Monoke Village as well as the Hill of Youth. After picking ourselves up we managed to see everything with some downtimes to gather our energy before 4:30PM. So absolutely doable in 1 Day. (To be fair we didn’t queue up for the photo spots - No Face and Cat Bus etc. since that Queue would’ve cost us minimum 45 minutes and it wasn’t our priority.)
Lina C — Google review
A huge park that can’t be done in 5 hours but might be just enough if you’re walking all day like we did. We purchased KKDay tickets, Standard, to visit Mononoke Village, Valley of the Witches and the Grand Warehouse. Tour bus was convenient for travel and Kay was great. I wouldn’t know how to get here otherwise. Lines were extremely long to get separate tickets to visit other exhibits within Valley of the Witches, so lines depend on what you want to prioritize. No eating is allowed inside the warehouse, although you’re only allowed to eat bread and milk from the stand (highly recommend the fruit milk- better than fruity pebbles cereal milk!). Food at the cafe was great, plenty of options, but you can’t visit the cafe after you leave the warehouse, so be mindful. Valley of the witches was my favorite, beyond beautiful with gardens and trees, especially during fall season. However, I can’t compare to Dondoko Forest. I’d probably love that too. If you purchase KKDay tickets, you get a meal provided to you to eat later inside the park. But beware, you have to carry this bag with you at all times with your trash unless you leave food on the bus and choose to eat inside instead. Zero trash cans. It is collected at the end upon takeoff to the next stop (visited a nearby town called Seto to walk through a ceramic museum- cool historical town). Tickets were purchased in advance, like 3 weeks prior to travel, so give yourself more time to get the premium tickets to visit all the villages! Have fun!
Pearl M — Google review
We enjoyed our time at Ghibli Park. As long as you understand it's not an amusement park, you'll be happy to visit. Ghibli Park is a huge commemorative park for the 2005 Expo and Ghibli Studio holds some corners of the park to build scenery and photo-ops of their (mostly Miyazaki) movies. We didn't manage to get the expensive ticket, only the "cheap" one but we spent the full day enjoying the park. The park opens at 10.00, we spent over two hours in the Grand Warehouse. Then had decent though not exceptional lunch and then spent the afternoon at the Valley of the Witches. We felt like walking in the movies of Kiki, Totoro, Howl,... Mononoke village was the only disappointing part, though we were ready to go home by then. There are some waiting lines for some of the photo ops but things went quickly, never more than 10 minutes and everyone kindly offers to take pics for you, as long as you offer the same ^^ Don't come from Tokyo only for this Park, but if you plan to visit Nagoya or Gifu or Toyota, this is worth a day trip.
Ilse D — Google review
DO NOT ASSUME the entry time you get is the park entrance. Note that the time entrance ticket you get is the time entrance for the WAREHOUSE! You can enter the park ANYTIME starting from its opening time even if your ticket said 3 PM or something (bcs the time it's for the warehouse). Mine was 12 PM, we entered from 10 AM, we managed to visit the furthest place first (Natsuki and the big Totoro Statue—I forgot what the area's name was), then go back to the middle area where the warehouse located, but when we realized we still have time before queueing for the warehouse, we visited another house nearby. By the time we queued at 11.30 AM for the warehouse, we already visit 2 main houses and another small house 😃. And please note thay the warehouse is very time consuming, you could spend 2-3 hours inside. Better skip the kaonashi line! After that, you can visit another main area! Still! The park is soo big, so, if you enter late that would be a waste :( Once again, DO NOT ASSUME the time you get is the park entrance. We got the premium ticket for all entries but we weren't able to visit the 2 area (those places were our least priority) :D And even if you cannot take photos inside the house, you can touch everything. E.VE.RY.THING. Open the kitchen shelves (and found vintage cans), someone's bag (and find Kiki's letter with a messy handwriting), wardrobe (and find the clothes!), etc. So, I think this is the highlight of our experience. If you're a fan of ghibli, you'd be able to get drowned with the story and how it feels to live the world of ghibli creations.
Sovereign — Google review
Phenomenal experience, even without the premium ticket. Ther are 4-5 Ghibli themed locations spread around the park for example the Valley of witches, where a real bakery is selling Ghibli themed bread and pastries. You can see how much they focused on detail. Dont forget to watch the movie in the warehouse. However, for each shop and attraction, there was a lot of wait time in lines. next time I visit, I'll definitely try to get the premium tickets for an even fuller experience.
Erich D — Google review
The place is hugeeeee. We spent the around 7hours but it is still not enough. If you want to explore more, make sure youre there early and get the whole day pass. It took some time to walk from one park to the other, so wear comfortable shoes. If youre ghibli enthusiast this park is for you. There are shops at every park so spend your money well
Zaifi M — Google review
Lots of nostalgia accompanied us when visiting the park. The park itself to our surprise is immensley wide spread and has lots of things to offer to fill a whole day. However it is not a typical entertainment park as you would assume with USJ & Disney. This park is to calm and relax rather to thrill. PS: The ticket ordering system is a hassle and cost us various nerves grabbing one of the limited oversea tickets available. You need to be on time on the 10th of the months at 2pm (Japan time) two months prior to your visit date. We only managed to get a standard ticket ourselves. The advanced ones were sold out in a split second.

Scenic Walking Areas
Senmi Shikizakura no Sato - Four Seasons Cherry Blossoms is a unique destination in the Obara area of Toyota City, known for its stunning display of shikizakura cherry trees that bloom twice a year, in both spring and autumn. This rare variety offers visitors the chance to witness the delicate pink hues of cherry blossoms alongside the fiery red colors of autumn leaves, creating a breathtaking sight.
Visited on 28 Nov 2024. Cherry Blossoms and autumn colours together is beautiful and special. Arrived 11.30am, carparks full and so parked a distance away which turned out to be a blessing as we could walk through the Kakigairi Trail.
Snoop E — Google review
Sadly, all the cherry trees were white, should've come mi-octobre (November is way too late). The cherries were still awesome to see.
Hugo N — Google review
This park is unique in that it offers the light pink hues of cherry blossoms at the same time as the fiery red colors of autumn leaves. The park has a variety of cherry blossoms known as "shikizakura", or "four-season cherry blossoms" and blooms twice a year—once in the spring and once in the fall—for a stunning sight unavailable in most places. Too bad cherry blossoms not fully open when we visit on 6 Nov.
Swee W — Google review
The colors of the cherry blossoms gave an interesting vibe for autumn. The place is not that big but beautiful. There was a portion covered with green tarp I suppose is being repaired.
Marie S — Google review
Sakura cherry blossom and koyo autumn l leaves together at the same time same spot is not something you can easily see, worth the visit but already crowded on late November weekday afternoon. Parking lot JPY500 down the hill 5 minutes walk but almost always full, had to return for the 2nd time before finally got a space.
Marvin C — Google review
This is the area where you can see red leafs and sakura blooms at the same time in November. It was very beautiful, you can walk inside the area while admiring the view. You can come here by bus for free from Obara Fureai Park.
Anna — Google review
Truly a breathtaking place especially when I visited in November! Shikizakura trees were in full bloom and it was such a view to see mix of white & light pink colors against autumn colors of yellow, red, & orange. This is located farther than Obara Fureai Park but I highly reco that you make this trip!
Anne F — Google review
The slope of the hill is covered with 1,200 cherry blossom trees, creating a beautiful combination of colored leaves and cherry blossoms. The sight becomes all the more spectacular when the branches wave in the wind all along the slope. Unfortunately last year was not so good, maybe because of pandemic. Definitely will visit again next year.

Day 2

Keep it simple
For day 2, these 6 places should be enough to fill your day with something exciting to do in Toyota. Start the day with Korankei Gorge and make your way through the city to get to Kuragaike Park. This should take about 8 hours of your day.

Korankei Gorge, located in Toyota, is a popular destination known for its stunning autumn foliage. The gorge boasts around 4,000 maple trees that create a vibrant display of colors during the fall season. Visitors can easily access the area by public transportation or car and explore the picturesque old townscape across the Asuke River. Additionally, the Folk Craft Museum offers insights into local handcrafts.
Beautiful autumn colors, come in the late afternoon to catch the sunset colors and stay till the night to see the place lighted up! And don’t forget to try out the local delights at the stalls set up around the Gorge. Be prepared for heavy traffic jam and if you are taking the public bus, long wait is to be expected and standing on the bus for your entire journey is to be expected. I would choose to stay there should I visit again!
Olina J — Google review
It’s a beautiful river walk. We went in Sept so no autumn colours but still enjoyed the surroundings. Had a great bowl of soba at one of the little restaurants. The temple is lovely

If you’re heading to the World Heritage village, you’ll pass by this spot. It’s definitely worth a stop to soak in the atmosphere - the scenery around is simply beautiful. I can only imagine how stunning it must be during the autumn foliage. I came at the end of October, so I might’ve just missed it. 🍂
MEEb — Google review
Experience the magic of autumn: vibrant foliage, night illuminated riverbanks, and a delightful array of street food. There's is 3 route you can hike around. Parking is easily accessible for ¥500-¥1000
Eliss W — Google review
I went there two days ago on the weekend (end November). The place is beautiful but very crowded, it’s difficult to walk in and out. taking photos is also quite difficult. As the night went on more and more people came. When I came home around 6 pm, there was a queue along the road to Korankei. Many visitors who have just arrived are stuck in traffic jams for kilometers. At night there are many beautiful lights, but the weather is getting colder. It is highly recommended to wear warm clothes. The food available is very varied, delicious and affordable
Momo O — Google review
Can one week or two earlier for the autumn scenery. The view is still good.
Yim A — Google review
The autumn leaves were late this year, we came December 8 and it was peak red hues of momiji leaves. The evening light-up illumination were until end of November. As you can see in photos, it’s very beautiful. Trail paths are easy to understand. There is smoking area after you cross the bridge before you go to the hike paths. No entrance fee, but parking takes time for the wait. Don’t bother bringing your own food, there are a number of food stalls by the entrance near the parking and also stalls by the river over looking the gorge. We had soup dumplings, yakitori and other matsuri type snacks. We went during golden hour which is around 4-5pm. Simply gorgeous! 🍁🍂
G S — Google review
For foreign tourists visiting during the autumn festival: 1. Come as early as possible, and don’t hang around for too long that the crowds come in 2. It’s not Golden Week but it feels like it (or worse). If you fail to do point 1 and decide to visit at a later time… 3. Do not drive in. The traffic jam into the area is terrible. If you take public transport to get there, maybe get off a few stops early and walk to the gorge. 4. When leaving the area via public transport, plan ample time so that you can afford to miss your bus. At certain times the buses will be too full, but there will also be some extra buses that aren’t on the timetable or your map app. The buses tend to arrive later than stated during this peak season. 5. Night view seems to be the best when the leaves are not at the desired colour, but you will have to deal with the crowds…

Nestled in the heart of nature, Obara Fureai Park is a stunning destination that offers visitors a unique experience with its shikizakura cherry blossoms blooming twice a year. This enchanting park transforms into a vibrant spectacle of pink and white flowers in spring, followed by an equally breathtaking display of red maples in the fall. Ideal for family outings, it features spacious playgrounds for children and serene walking paths perfect for leisurely strolls amidst the beauty of nature.
Unfortunately, it rained before I visited the place. Lots of cherry blossom were fallen due to the rain. Most 🍁 trees were still green though. After all, it is still an amazing place to visit.

Sakura blossom is not yet full blooming but still also nice. There are also Maple trees and ginkgo trees. Their leaves are turning to red and yellow. Sign of autumn and becoming winter. Edited: Toilets are available but limited.

Beautiful Park, went there on November 2022. Nice weather, beautiful color on the leaf, something we couldn’t see in tropical country. Soothing and relaxing afternoon..
Hendriyanto S — Google review
Highly not recommended this year! Waste of time as the sakura flowers are tiny. If you have time, try not to visit and should go to other places instead. Don't trust any of the pictures here as they are a tiny snapshot of the entire area. The unusually high temperature this year might be the reason why the maple leaves are unable to turn red and keep up with the blooming of sakura.
Choonsiong C — Google review
There are a lot of street food stalls, such as takoyaki, sobayaki, waffle, kebab, mochi, and many more! When I visited there are a car exhibition held infront of Obara Tourist Information Building. This is a perfect place to rest and having a snack after taking a long walk at senmishikizakura. The view here was beautiful too, you can see a red leaf, ginko tree leaf, and sakura also blooming in November.
Anna — Google review
Beautiful view in Autumn, the best attraction point is "Senmi shikizakura no Sato" at Kaminigi bus station (and walk around 500m). Own driving or buying one day tour may be easier if you want to visit Obara and Korankei in the same day. Taking the public bus has to wait for quite long.
Goog J — Google review
Visited in November and timed with peak autumn foliage. Shikizakura trees were in bloom providing a nice light color contrast during fall. I find Senmi Shikizakura no Sato better though during the time of visit. Saw an ongoing festival in the park and happy to try a very simple hot udon dish and egg on stick. If planning to go to Korankei, there's a free shuttle bus service here.

The event was well-organised and there were ushers guiding and controlling the crowds well. There were clear signages around the stadium for the event too. Most importantly, the stage set-up and light shows were simply splendid! I had a great time watching the SSS and the view from all sides of the stadium was great. This is one of the best mass crowd events I have been to too! Do note to bring along a good jacket as it can be very cold at night during November! Visited in November 2024.

Nice small stadium and could easily manage to find your seats with many staff that will direct you if needed.

The stadium is spacious with plenty of seating. Because of the steep slope, it’s easy to see the field from the stands, but it feels a little scary. I wonder if there are still scalpers on the way from the station to the stadium?

Kuragaike Park is a delightful escape nestled within the Aichi-Kogen Quasi-National Park, offering an expansive green space perfect for family outings. With its charming small zoo, beautifully landscaped gardens, and a serene boating lake, this park is designed for relaxation and recreation. Visitors can enjoy leisurely picnics under the shade of cherry blossom trees—around 1,500 of them bloom spectacularly in spring—making it an ideal spot for sakura viewing.
Went to the upper side, which is just beside the large park with a large shed, where people were relaxing, having picnics, and others were playing with their kids. Though not quite in full bloom, there are still some cherry blossoms. Had fun taking photos and videos.

This is such a nice park in Toyota city! Forest Adventure ropes course and zip line (only ¥2800), lake, indoor playground for kids under 12, Starbucks, free Toyota museum, petting zoo. Plenty of parking (some free, some paid). Definitely worth spending a few hours here with the family!

A big park with no entrance and parking fees. It's a nice park for everyone. There's a hall for small kids, a mini zoo, a botanical garden, rainbow bridge, a swan paddle and a lot more. This is also a nice place get fit and relax.

Wonderful place for families. There's a cooled indoor play gym, great for kids. There's a large outdoor covered area to setup a small tent and relax. A Starbucks a close by with a wonderful view. There's Forest Adventure Toyota to go zip lining. It was a nice surprise to encounter food trucks and locally created crafts for sale. My family and I spent a whole day here and had a terrific time

One of the best places for family picnic, wide grounds, walking tracks, a small zoo with beautiful birds and animals, horse ranch, botenical garden with lots of plants and boating area with breathtaking view of fish and ducks. Highly recommended.

Pizza restaurant
Italian restaurant
Il Faro is a superb eatery conveniently situated near downtown Toyota square. This establishment offers an exceptional Margherita pizza, which ranks among the finest I have ever tasted. The simplicity of this dish is executed to perfection, boasting outstanding dough, tomato sauce, and high-quality mozzarella. The skilled expertise of a single pizza chef guarantees that your patience will be rewarded with an extraordinary dining experience.
Terrific pizza, pasta, salads and more. Fresh, high quality ingredients. Cooked to Italian standards. Helpful and friendly staff. A pleasure to find in Japan when sometimes quality foreign food options are hard to come by.
Zico C — Google review
The pizzas here are absolutely delicious. The ingredients are almost similar to ones one would find in Italy. The price though, is on the true Japanese standard, a bit on the higher side. Deep eating can hurt one's pocket a bit. They serve a decent collection of appetisers, pasta and desserts too. And not to mention the Italian bottles. The decor is cool, some sailors knots, some jerseys and overall, the ambience is inviting. The place can get crowded, but still, what's an Italian restaurant without some noise!
Dhvinay P — Google review
I am visiting from the USA for two weeks and was excited to try pizza on one of my dinner nights. The menu has lots of variety, but the Quattro Formagi with honey was truly delicious and I wish I could eat more. I will definitely go back again before I leave!

Fantastic restaurant convenient to downtown Toyota square. This spot ties for me with the best Margherita pizza I've ever had, and I've had lots. Simple but done really well. Great dough, tomato sauce, and quality mozzarella. One guy making all the pizzas is a pro so your patience will pay off. Only 1 pasta on the menu so don't come if you're looking for other pasta dishes too. Others in my group had Quattro formaggi pizza, Il faro, and various appetizers and all said they were great. Pricing is extremely reasonable for this quality of pizza.

AWESOME...When you come from The western hemisphere at some point the local diet is too much...well I found this place which really is like an Oasis. The Pizza chef is Japanese certified in Italy . Dough and Salsa were fantastic and the wood oven is the perfect one. The menu is limited but no need more. We ordered 3 pizzas Marguerite, Prosciuto and Salami. Then Tiramisu and Ricota cheese cake. Final touch double espresso. The service is extraordinary and the price is fair.

Unagi restaurant
Ever since childhood, this unagi restaurant called Kawayasu eel shop has been adored by customers. It is a popular destination for families and couples alike. The establishment has gained a reputation for its delicious eel dishes that are enjoyed by both husbands and wives. One customer even recalls a memorable experience when they visited the restaurant alone and were pleasantly surprised when the staff extended their service to accommodate them, leaving a lasting impression on them.
Popular eel shop near Korankei Gorge. Delicious eel with crisp grilled skin and soft flavourful meat. Grilled eel liver is served when order full eel set.  Even the soup has eel liver in it.

Yummy unagi place, full of locals Sauce is bit too salty to my liking, best to get the unagi and rice separate so you can control the amount of sauce. Overall still very yummy and would come back!

(Translated by Google) I visited for the first time in 30 years on a Sunday in June. The scenery was completely different from what I remembered, and I realized that memories are notoriously unreliable. It was raining that day and it was the off-season, so we arrived at 10:30 and were the fourth group on the list. There is a parking lot opposite the restaurant with about 6 parking spaces. They open on time and your name is called immediately. The first group can choose between a tatami room or a chair. This time I ordered a large serving of eel rice. I was impressed by the impressiveness of the dishes that came out. The eel skin was grilled to a crisp and delicious. The rice was cooked just right, with firm grains and the eel sauce mixed in, making it very delicious. However, the large serving was more than I expected, and I was full by the end. The liver soup had grilled liver in it and was delicious. The price was also reasonable. By the time I finished eating, the restaurant was full and there was a line outside. I'll come again. Thank you for the meal.

By this point, most places are empty on weekdays, but even at lunchtime, there was only one person waiting, so I was able to go in with ease. The interior of the restaurant also had the atmosphere of an old-fashioned eel restaurant, so I ordered the special eel bowl. ◆Special eel bowl (3,800 yen) In Nagoya, I eat extra-large eels, so this felt a little small for a special, but they also had stuffing inside, and the eel itself was delicious!! The lightly crispy eel was soft and juicy, and the light sauce was perfectly combined. The service from the staff was also very good. Thank you for the meal. (Translated by Google) [Visited October 2025] I visited alone on a weekday Friday during lunchtime. I arrived at 11:10 AM and there were only two seats left. It seemed to be fully booked by 11:20 AM. I ordered the premium unadon (eel bowl) with liver soup. The eel was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The sweet and spicy sauce was perfect for me and delicious. I would have preferred it if the skin had been a little more cooked. Since it was premium, the eel was mixed in with the rice, lightly steamed, which was nice. I also liked that it came in two pieces. The liver in the liver soup was seared, but I personally prefer it without. The seating area was a raised area with four tatami mats and about five tables. It's an old-fashioned restaurant, so the tables seemed small. Each table seats four, but it might be a little cramped for four people. Even if you're alone, there are no shared tables. The restaurant is old, but it seems to maintain a clean appearance. I think it's good value for money for an eel restaurant. From the conversation between the staff and customers, it seems like there are quite a few locals there. The fact that it's a restaurant that has a long line but is loved by locals may be proof that it's a good restaurant. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Crab house
Kani Honke, a crab house known for its delectable cuisine, offers a tranquil dining experience in private rooms. The staff, while not fluent in English, is amiable and dedicated to providing excellent service. The food served at Kani Honke is of exceptional quality and the ambiance adds to the overall enjoyment. With its scrumptious dishes and polite customer service, it is an ideal place to celebrate special occasions or indulge in a luxurious day once a year.

(Translated by Google) I used it for a weekday lunch for the first time in a while. Due to various price hikes, I was surprised at how expensive even lunch was. This time I ordered Bihoro Kaiseki. All of the dishes were very delicious, and I had been eating frozen salty crab recently, so I was impressed by the sweet and tender crab. The loincloth part can be easily removed and stress-free. The customer service was very polite, from welcoming us to serving food to seeing us off! ︎ However, I entered the store just as it opened, and it was cold, probably because the heating wasn't very widespread. I was in a private room and there was a hot air heater and a hot carpet under my feet, but the entrance door had a wooden latticework, so my shoulders got cold when I sat near the entrance. I wish there were lap blankets available for rent only during the cold months. We ordered young chicken, hamburger steak, mayo corn pizza, mentaiko pasta, etc.! The food wasn't very good. The food was a little cold when it arrived. -The chicken wasn't very tasty because of that, and the pepper was spicy. -The hamburger steak sauce was solidified and not hot, but the broccoli was burnt and bitter. -The mayo corn pizza also tasted like mayonnaise on bread. -The pasta tasted like it was made of wheat flour. On November 7th, I visited a shop called Karen-no-Yakata Hall located near Yamayuri when I went to Lake Mikawa. The parking lots were quite crowded, with the first one almost full and the second one filled about three-quarters of the way. It had been a while since my last visit before the pandemic. I took a leisurely walk around, capturing various photos along the way.
(Translated by Google) There is a dog run that can be used for free. We had lunch at Koen no Yakata, and dogs were allowed on the terrace! I had udon (with croquette) and dum curry! The udon was made with bonito stock and the curry was delicious with just the right amount of spiciness. The croquettes were especially delicious ♪ The dog run was well maintained and nice! It was great to be able to walk around the dam and riverbed.

(Translated by Google) The part-time lady was acting normal, but I kept hearing ridiculous laughter coming from the office next to the automatic door entrance. It's probably the manager of this place (a bald guy with a beard), but even after he comes out, he's extremely unfriendly and the customer service is terrible. The stew was delicious as usual. Lake Mikawa and the dam were very relaxing.

(Translated by Google) When I went to Lake Mikawa for the first time, I followed Google Navigation, but it took me onto an unexpectedly narrow mountain road, making for a very tense drive. On the way back, I tried the route National Route 1 → Okazaki City → National Route 301 → Shimoyamacho no Sato → Karen no Yakata (Lake Mikawa), and found the road to be wide and extremely easy to drive on. If you're heading from Toyohashi or Toyokawa, I highly recommend taking this route. The curves are gentle, and there are rest spots like roadside stations along the way, so you can enjoy a safe drive. This time, I left late, so I didn't have much time to stroll around the lakeside, but next time, I'd like to leave earlier on this route and take my time walking around the lake.

This is also a souvenir shop, selling a variety of things made by locals, and the dum curry at the restaurant was delicious and quite interesting. If you walk a little further, you can see the dynamic water discharge from the round hole of Hanyu Dam, which is fun and makes for a great photo. Is there a dog run when you cross the bridge and go to the back? I feel like there was one too. At that time, the owner was running more than the dog. Is there a museum on the second floor of the building? The handmade explanations are elaborate and cute, but if you read them all, an hour may pass quickly. Guests can indulge in delightful dining options with both Japanese and Chinese cuisine available on-site, complemented by a hearty breakfast selection that caters to various tastes. The hotel prides itself on its attentive staff who are always ready to assist, ensuring a warm welcome and exceptional service throughout your stay.
I like their room, it is spacious and clean. The breakfast is great! Both Japanese style and American style breakfast are available so plenty to choose from. They also have some interesting display of the short signed by the players in breakfast area. Parking is in a parking facility right next to the hotel and you take the ticket and let the hotel staff on the front desk verify it on a machine each time after you park so it is relatively convenient. There are tons of shops within walking distance so we did a lot of shopping :)

A 3 start hotel with a 5 star service. There are some exceptionally caring staff available at the hotel which can make good differences to the overall experience. Most of them speak good English and are glad to help you. The rooms are cosy and well equipped. It has nice wide windows for enjoying the view of the city and the nearby mountain ranges. These windows can't be opened though. Good care for safety is taken, in general. The food is tasty and the cost increases from breakfast, lunch to dinner. The breakfast has a good variety, with an ingredients note. Something that shocked me was that scrambled eggs too contains chicken. That being said, vegetarians can enjoy cereals, yogurt, chips, veggie salad, fruits and maybe hash browns on some days. The platter for meat eaters is just huge, starting from two varieties of soups as well. There is a supermarket available within a couple of minutes walking distance from the hotel. The hotel is well connected to the train stations and also to the airport through a direct bus, available 200m from the hotel. There is also an indoor bicycle parking space available in the Como square which can be very convenient for the hotel guests. Vehicular parking at the Como square parking is waived off for guests.

Art museum
Nestled on a picturesque hill that once housed Koromo Castle, the Toyota Municipal Museum of Art is a must-visit destination for art enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. Since its opening in 1995, this chic museum has become renowned for its impressive collection of contemporary artworks and valuable antiques. Guests can explore an array of exhibitions featuring masterpieces from celebrated artists like Gustav Klimt, Edvard Munch, and Egon Schiele.
The Museum of Art, designed by Yoshio Taniguchi, is a masterpiece of minimalist architecture. Opened in 1995, it features clean geometric lines, concrete, glass, and metal, creating a sleek, modern look. A key highlight is its use of light and space. A long entrance ramp builds anticipation, while glass walls and water features seamlessly connect the building with nature. The galleries follow a white cube concept, offering a neutral space for exhibits. Located on a hill, the museum blends with its surroundings, creating a calm and reflective atmosphere. Unfortunately, due to time and transportation constraints, I didn’t get to see the night view.
P L — Google review
If you appreciate art, architecture, and culture, the Toyota Municipal Museum of Art is a must-visit destination in Aichi Prefecture. This museum is not just a place to view art—it’s an experience that blends stunning modern design with a carefully curated collection of Japanese and international masterpieces. One of the highlights of the museum is its architectural brilliance. Designed by Yoshio Taniguchi (who also designed the expansion of MoMA in New York), the museum’s minimalist aesthetic and seamless integration with nature create a calming and immersive environment. The use of natural light enhances the beauty of the exhibits, making each artwork stand out in a unique way.
Lakshan C — Google review
I visited the museum on March 5th, 2025. Beautiful architecture by Yoshio Taniguchi. Highly recommend for architecture fan of Taniguchi. :)
Yerina C — Google review
Signage to the museum is very confusing if you are on foot. It shouldn’t be that hard. The way I finally found didn’t have a footpath most of the way, so it mightn’t even have been the route. The permanent collection is scant, but boy is it quality. Had a few wow moments. The temporary exhibition on at present is “Escher, Behind the Paradox”. It was a joy to see such a range of his work from the different stages of his career. However, the interps is largely in Japanese, so be prepared to use Google Translate a fair whack to get the most out of it. Service is exemplary at the museum restaurant, but the food is uninspiring, sadly. Go for a drink to experience a crack team of wait staff.

The building itself is as beautiful as a work of art, so it's fun just to walk around. It is a bit far from Nagoya, but I would like to visit this museum regularly.

Architectures were nice as art works were spectacular. I heard that this museum bought a art pice of On Kawara. Parking spaces were big and free. I understand why everyone recommend this museum.

I love the outdoor sculpture terrace and there's a lot inside but of variable interest for me. We ate the "plat du jour" in the restaurant (¥1500 + tax) which was very good. There was an hors-d'œuvre and then I had fish "sawara" (鰆) or "Japanese Spanish mackerel" while my wife ordered pork. We shared and enjoyed both!

Museums
The Toyota Hands-On Museum is a spacious venue that emphasizes interactive exhibits and educational presentations on science. It offers workshops, as well as a planetarium to explore the wonders of the night sky. The show they offer lasts for 45 minutes and is easy to understand. Children thoroughly enjoyed it, developing a newfound interest in astronomy. The facility itself embodies modern and stylish architecture, akin to other Toyota establishments. Ground floor activities are free for children, featuring numerous science games.
Definitely a MUST VISIT place, though very compact but there are so many things to try your hands on, enjoy great science shows, make a science-based craft for only 100yen. What's more, a terrific planetarium inside with fascinating movies on. Parking 3h for free after that 150Yen per 30min

The show we went to see was 45 mins in length. The narration was extremely easy to follow. Kids enjoyed it very much. I guess they are little more interested in the night sky now. The facility is very modern and reflects the stylish and modern architecture, like other Toyota facilities.

The planetarium is open three times a day, and they have collaborated with anime and dinosaur stories to keep you entertained. It gets busy on weekends, but not so much that it's overcrowded. There is also a nursing room, perfect for those with breastfeeding children. After waiting for 7 minutes, it was finally my turn. When I thought I had arrived, a veteran female clerk smiled and said, ``Sorry, please wait a little longer.'' I waited for several minutes (4 minutes in my experience), and after I had finished paying the bill, the bell of Minna Rakuen was already ringing. I had it, so I chose that I went to pick up the coke right after I went to pick it up, and I was thirsty, so I tried drinking it and found that the carbonation had gone out.It took less than a minute to go to pick up the food from Minarakuen and get the cola. ``Coke's When I pointed out that the carbonation had run out, a young male staff member made fun of me and said, ``I think it's because it's been a long time since you left.'' So when I got a new cola, it was also a cola with no bubbles and less carbonation. What's going on? Udon noodle restaurant
During a lunch break, I decided to try out Kinoya, a popular udon noodle restaurant near Toyota City Station. Upon arrival, I noticed a long queue of customers eagerly waiting to get in. The restaurant is conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from the station and offers both table and counter seating options. Despite being busy, the staff efficiently managed the crowd and ensured everyone's presence was acknowledged. The menu at Kinoya is diverse and offers great value for money with generous portions.

(Translated by Google) It has the feel of a traditional udon restaurant, and seems to be popular with a wide range of people, from the elderly to young people. It was delicious with soft noodles and clear soup. You can make large portions of udon, so I was able to eat my fill of udon. Many other people ordered miso stew with rice. Is the soup stock based on dried sardines? It's delicious for this region, but it's better than the udon restaurants in western Japan...I'd give it a 4 star if it's in the prefecture, or a 3 star if I compare it to other places. In addition, it seems that you can use the parking lot in the tenant common parking lot behind the store. Thai restaurant
The staff at Thanisara Thai restaurant is extremely polite, the food presentation is splendid, and the overall dining experience is delightful. The limited space within the restaurant doesn't negatively impact the ambiance, as the delicious food makes up for it. Being close to the train station allows for convenient accessibility. It's worth mentioning that there may be a blend of genuine Thai cuisine with some Japanese influence, which could be explored further by contemplating it while enjoying a meal here.
Highly courteous staff, wonderful presentation of the food and and an overall pleasant experience. The space was not very much within the restaurant which didn't hurt the ambience much, but the food compensated nicely for it. Proximity to the train station helps with easy access. Whether the food was authentic Thai or whether there was a Japanese influence, to be thought about. Thinking while having a meal here would be the best way to find it out😅.
