Scenic spot
Baguashan is a picturesque hill known for its iconic 24-meter Buddha statue and a charming pedestrian skybridge nestled amidst the lush trees. The Baguashan Skywalk offers stunning views of the verdant canopy, while the literature trail beckons visitors to explore the ecological beauty. Additionally, travelers can immerse themselves in culture at the Changhua Arts Museum or rejuvenate at the Spring of Youth.
Every visit to the Buddha statues brings in inner peace. And when it is a huge statue with hardly any crowd, you tend to be dwarfed. But the visit was wonderful. Impressive statue with great photo opportunities. Easy parking and plenty to look at. The statue itself was amazing but loads of other items around as well. Some super views over the city. It was one of scenic spots in Changhua for visitors. The attraction was giant Buddha statue on top of the mountain. Clean place and comfortable environment. We took a taxi from Changhua Station to come there due to little bit inconvenient location.

The tourist town of Mount Baqua has changed a lot, there are lots of people selling around the area, paid parking is also available, toilets are also available but they are a bit dirty (sorry), near Mount Baqua there are also attractions such as watching hellish torture in the monastery which is quite exciting, the road to the monastery is steep and lots of stairs...😅, but when you get to the 3rd floor inside the monastery it is very dark... if I may suggest, on the footpath in the attraction, give directions or a small footpath light because suddenly it goes straight there is a wooden ladder and I almost fell between the boundary of the ladder and the footpath.. there was also a bucket beside it (which I think might be for collecting raindrops that seep in) which should be removed if it is no longer used.. but I understand because the ticket keeper is also an elderly person.. the ticket price is still affordable..🙏🏻

Public place where you can visit and be with nature. Can see one of the biggest Buddha in Taiwan and located in Changhua, Taiwan. Parking lots available and vendors of food are there. Favor in a road and great view around Changhua when your upthere.

This place is quite breathtaking and offers a panoramic view of the city. It has a big statue of buddha, several canopies around the area. Near the canopy walk, there's a massage lady who offers great massage.
Cyril M — Google review
I've been here so many times whenever I want to jog together with my besties. The scenery will really amazed anyone who comes here and there are lots of senior citizens who also come to this place to do some physical exercise.
Leonor E — Google review
Really nice place to visit. We stop by on our way from Taipei to Alishan. Navigated by Google Maps. There are few things to see here and not just the Buddha statue. We explore the place more than an hour. You can find some restaurants in 10 minutes driving or even less than that. Take into consideration that you need to pay for the parking. However, it was very cheap. Enjoy your time!
Hezi B — Google review
Can see the beautiful city of Changhua from this place. You need to wear a long sleeves or trousers so that it could protect from being bitten by the mosquito or other small insect.. This is not that much relaxing place 😕.
Ombahadur T — Google review
Beautiful spot. Any trip to Changhua needs a visit to Baguashan. You can wander around the Buddah and surrounding temple buildings as well as the gardens and wider area. Great gift shop on the ground floor to the right of the Buddah. Several stalls selling street food such as dried squid, tea eggs etc. There's a great view over Changhua from the main lookout - you can see as far as Lugang and the coast on a clear day. Further back there is a fish pond and if you keep exploring you'll find the aeroplanes, steps down the waterfall and the sports centre. There are clean toilet facilities, a visitor centre by the main arch and plenty of spots to park your scooter. I'd recommend walking up the back steps from near the university. Can get busy, but not overly so, just people taking photos. A great place to come watch fireworks on New Years Eve. 5 stars, though my only warning is that at night, there are stray dogs lurking in the crevices ;)

Bagua Mountain Skywalk is a 1,004-meter-long elevated walking path that winds through the treetops, offering scenic views of Changhua and the surrounding nature. It connects the main site of the Great Buddha of Baguashan to nearby attractions and is part of the popular Baguashan Scenic Area. Visitors can drive up to the mountain top or take a beautiful trail leading up to it.
Absolutely amazing place. A great look out of Changhua city, no matter it's day view or night view. Worth a visit when you in Changhua.

A super scenic stroll from the Cultural & creative park + Changhua Arts Center to Baguashan, there are many plants 🌱 critters and viewing spots you can find along the way. The route also cuts through the baseball ⚾️ field where you can observe others practicing. A great breather and fresh air away from the town hustle.
Amos S — Google review
Nice pleasant walk beside trees, away from traffic. Though, must be a bit too hot during summer.
Ryuhei H — Google review
It's an elevated walkway that links various of Bagua Mountain. It is a novel idea that helps reduce congestion on existing roads and pathways, but I do not recommend it. There is no shelter and the flooring is slippery. Not suitable for young children on prams or the elderly.
Alvin L — Google review
The so-called "Sky path" is a long extended passage around the hills. It gives a nice view of Changhua city on the way.
Matthew S — Google review
Pretty good view of the ChangHwa city. It's free too. Went during Dec so wasn't too hot or too cold. Plenty of places to walk and look at things for free. Simply experience the temple culture of Taiwan. The toilet are those temporary ones. Brig your own tissues. Otherwise, you can buy some packets for cheap. Got 2 for $10 NTD. But can't guarantee that's always there.
Genevieve E — Google review
The skypath is 1KM long and is the longest in Taiwan. However you could not see much scenery from the skypath, mostly trees and plants as it was not that high.

The National Changhua Life Arts Center is a modern structure that houses a variety of rotating exhibits and workshops, all set against the backdrop of an adjacent park. Situated at one end of the Skywalk on Mt. Baghua, it showcases the work of two local artists in an impressive exhibition. For those exploring lesser known tourist spots, this cultural heritage center offers a glimpse into the island's rich diversity. Worth the hike! The view is amazing, it was just around the city proper but it looks so majestic. Some should visit at night too the view gives a different vibe. 👍

Heritage building
Historical landmark
Nestled in the heart of Changhua, the Changhua Roundhouse stands as a remarkable testament to Taiwan's railway history. Built in 1922, this operational roundhouse is not only the last of its kind on the island from the Japanese era but also a haven for train enthusiasts and photographers alike. Visitors can marvel at beautifully preserved steam engines while witnessing live operations, including diesel locomotives gracefully maneuvering onto turntables.
Nice historical place, the only roundhouse left in Taiwan that was build during Japanese era. The place is full of visitors on weekends. You have to fill in form for entry, but there is no entrance fee. If you can, don't park on the other side of the railway, the underpass is very smelly. There is a Railway Park next to it, you can purchase coffee and some souvenirs.
Neti H — Google review
A great place to see and learn how the railway works. However, it only opens in the afternoon.

The Changhua Roundhouse is a historical gem for train enthusiasts and photographers alike. This operational fan-shaped garage offers a peek into Taiwan’s railway heritage and is perfect for capturing stunning pictures. Accessible next to Changhua Railway Station, it’s a free, must-visit spot for a blend of history and unique photo opportunities. Remember to register at the entrance!
Zhengyang S — Google review
Came at the right time to see the train being moved to its shed. Now a popular tourist destination, a large crowd gathered at the Roundhouse on 21 April 2023 when I visited. If you are walking, need to go down from an underpass to access to the main entrance.
Biyan T — Google review
Very nice place full of history, no entry fee, and accessible by walking, but also there are other entries from behind. Just next to Changhua train station. The staff is very kind and helpful. Be mind when visiting on weekends or holidays, it will be crowded.
Max C — Google review
Wonderful place for a train enthusiast. The preserved steam engines and roundhouse are beautiful and there is plenty of action to see. When I was there, a diesel locomotive left the round house and went on the turntable. You can go up onto a platform for a good view of operations and you can also see action on the coastal mainline as it approaches Changhua station. This historic attraction highlights how significant railways were in an era before high speed rail and highways. Top tip - research on Google for the railway workers houses that were near the tracks and are now abandoned and covered in undergrowth. Enjoy!
Jeremy B — Google review
The best train station ever in Changhua. We enjoy here so much such as train's history and view. If u have free time, u can come here to see how the train's work.
Tommy C — Google review
you must visit this place, a semi fan-shaped parking lot for trains! if you stay a while, you might be lucky to see a train moving back in or out the governor plans to shot this ancient working place down in 2022, and it's the only one survived from generations grab the last chance!

Nanyao Temple, situated 2km south of Changhua train station, is a significant stop on the Matsu Pilgrimage. The temple's unique character is evident in its central hall, adorned with Doric columns, baroque-style decor, and Japanese shrines. Dating back to the Qing Dynasty period, this historic site showcases a fusion of Fujianese, Western, and Japanese architectural styles.
Great local temple. Built in 1738, it's nearly 300 years old. Awesome local culture and photo opportunities.

Nanyao Temple is a Mazu temple in Changhua city. It was built in the 18th century during the Qing Dynasty and it's a place where generations of locals have come to seek good fortune and receive the blessings of Mazu. It is one of the temples where the Dajia Mazu make the annual pilgrimage during March of the lunar calendar.

Nanyao Palace is a historic site in Changhua County, dating back to 1738 at the earliest. In terms of architecture, it can be said to be one of the most solemn and gorgeous temples in Changhua City. The architectural pattern is four towers and four halls, using three architectural styles. The Sanchuan Hall and the Main Hall at the front are traditional Chinese-style buildings. The Bagua algae well on the ceiling of the Sanchuan Hall at the main entrance is very stylish. It is stacked up by a bucket arch without using any nails. Dragon. The Guanyin Hall behind the main hall is one of the most distinctive temples in Taiwan. It is also the oldest building in Nanyao Palace, which combines the styles of Fujian, Western and Japanese. The last apse is a three-story building, made of concrete. It was completed in 1973 in a modern antique style. You can go to the third floor of the apse to enjoy the beauty of the entire temple. The height of the four halls has gradually increased from the beginning to the end, and the pattern is rigorous and beautiful. The whole can be said to be Taiwan's architectural gem.

Lukang Lungshan Temple is a stunning Buddhist temple that dates back to the Ming and Qing dynasties, showcasing exquisite traditional folk art and intricate carvings. Nestled in a serene environment, this temple offers visitors a glimpse into the elegance of Chinese architecture with its unique red-brick walls. The peaceful courtyards invite contemplation, while the smaller inner spaces house remarkable wooden carvings and ancient plaques that tell stories of resilience through time.
After you visit the more famous Mazu Temple and eat the ocal favorites near the old street, get over here and visit the long history of the LungShan Temple. It was not crowded at all when we visited on a Thursday. It was quiet, tranquil, and peaceful. The building shows it's age but had some renovations done. There's a garden in the back with a pond next to the restroom. Overall this is a nicer temple to enjoy the silence and reflect.

An old Kuan Yin Temple that was moved to its current location in 1786 (乾隆51年). It was fully restored after the 1999 921 earthquake. Currently, the forward temple building and the performance stage (戏台) are under restoration. The wooden carvings and drawings on the roof structures are exquisite. Don't miss them while visiting this temple.
Alex C — Google review
A very quiet and healing historic temple , it’s hard to describe the feeling. The moment I stepped in, I felt a deep sense of comfort throughout my body. This is the place that left the deepest impression on me and became my favorite spot during my visit to Lukang.
Tzuyen C — Google review
Amazing historical temple with wonderful wooden sculptures.
Judy H — Google review
The temple provides a peaceful, serene Buddhist and Taoist environments, while its inner gates and aisles show the elegance of the Chinese architecture and building. The temple also has its uniqueness in red-color bricks for wall, floor, etc. The temple has a quite outer courtyard, while its inner courtyard is relatively smaller, and worship hall is even smaller. These are rather different from traditional Buddhist or Taoist temples which emphasize relatively similar size in worship halls and inner court yard. The temple has just finished its Entrance Gates' renovation and preservation project, and it provides detailed documentation and explanation for the project development. The temple also has a beautiful rear garden and pond which has numerous turtle, a symbol of long life for various Chinese religions. The Temple, as of August 2022, is open till 08PM, and the Temple does show its beauty at night, when the Temple's lanterns do give quiet, simple, stylish view.

Steamed bun shop
If you find yourself in Lukang, make sure to stop by 老龍師肉包 中山二店, a no-frills eatery that has earned a reputation for its delicious array of sweet and savory buns, rolls, and dumplings. This spot is particularly famous for its Baozi—steamed meat buns that are best enjoyed fresh out of the steamer while they're still piping hot.
my favorite Baozi (meat buns) they sell Baozi, salty cake, and other traditional dessert. One of the famous Baozi in Lukang. The taste is very classic, 10 Baozi for 200 ntd, the price is pretty fair their great competitor, another famous Baozi in Lukang, is A Zhen (阿振), but I and my family all agree that LaoLongShi has a better flavor and texture. Strongly recommend to try out if you're visiting Lukang!

They asked us to order four pots for two adults and five children. I said we wanted three, but I'll cover the minimum for a shared pot. They kept asking for four pots. How bad do they want to be in business? The fruit tea was off-flavor, and even the serving plates were small. Shouldn't you look at the 250-yuan dishes out there? They ordered three pots, only giving us one. They even had to ask for it. The children didn't even offer their own cutlery, so they had to ask for it. If you're not willing to do business, don't do it. I came here because I miss the old lady's cooking. I should have read the reviews before coming here. I was furious. There's no future. Poor service from manager and wait staff after 2 meals arrived late. Other customers had arrived, eaten and left, but we still waited. Staff tried to blame the kitchen, and argued that it wasnt their fault. The correct action would be to apologise, offer those meals at no cost, and let the customer eat, NOT stand there arguing about whose fault it was. These customers are regulars, since arriving in Taiwan, they have taken me to this restaurant 3 times in 2 weeks. They won’t be back. The 10% discount voucher they were given was an insult. Eat here at your own risk.

(Translated by Google) This time, I ordered tender chicken thighs, pork hotpot, and radish cake. The tender chicken thighs came with salad, soup, a bun, and a drink. The meat was tender, the mushroom sauce was delicious, and the pumpkin soup was also quite good. The pork hotpot was well-seasoned and had a rich texture (with shredded burdock and cucumber). The pork slices were well-marinated, and the kimchi was a bit sour, not too spicy. The bibimbap in the flower box had scrambled eggs instead of raw, which was also very good and quite unique. The radish cake was average in flavor and pan-fried, refreshingly light, not as greasy as you'd find at breakfast places. I chose fresh fruit tea and kiwi juice for drinks, both of which were quite delicious. You could actually taste the fruit flesh. It's rare for a restaurant to offer such authentic drinks (all meals come with a 120-yuan drink, with the difference added). As for dessert, the purple rice and red bean dish was okay, but the pudding was too sweet and not recommended. The dining environment was quite comfortable, and the staff were very friendly. P.S. Parking nearby is 30 yuan per hour.

Japanese restaurant
石井屋日本料理 彰化店 offers high-quality sashimi and sushi, beautifully presented in a nice dark interior with a wood aesthetic. The black cod is particularly delicious and served in generous portions. The attentive yet unobtrusive service adds to the dining experience. While it may be on the higher end of the budget, this is typical for a decent Japanese restaurant.
The food, the service, and the atmosphere here are top-notch. A colleague treated me and a friend to lunch here. I wish that I had taken pictures, but had forgotten because I was hungry and the food was so delicious. The reason I wanted to take pictures was because the meals were presented in such a beautiful way. The staff were extremely friendly and professional, and the service quality was beyond expectations. The sashimi was very fresh, and you could see the sashimi bar had so many different options. Had I been there by myself, I would have indulged in many more dishes. There are a variety of different fixed menus, all of which are very satisfying. I chose the cheapest option because I was being treated by my friend, but I was full after finishing. It is also possible to share dishes if you order different options from the set menu. I would definitely come back here again! It is highly recommended by my friends.

High quality sashimi and sushi. Food was beautifully presented. The black cod was delicious and was a generous sized portion. Service was attentive but not overbearing. The Lukang Folk Arts Museum is housed in a grand mansion dating back to 1919, showcasing thousands of cultural artifacts from the Ming and Qing Dynasty. The well-preserved rooms offer a glimpse into the lives of wealthy families from the past, with antique furniture and traditional household items on display. Visitors can explore the exquisite collection, including clothing, furniture, and everyday objects while enjoying the fine garden that surrounds the museum.
A fantastic museum! Enjoyed the exhibition a lot, especially the rooms on the second floor. Also, the garden is very quiet and peaceful. The only problem was that some signs had no translation into English, but otherwise it is one of the best places I‘ve visited in Lukang 🫶🏽

To peek into how a wealthy family in a century lived. Only the outer structure and couple rooms inside you do see the heyday of this family. Majority the items on display are from that age but may not be necessary from this wealthy family. It a popular location to take wedding photos, because we saw a newly wedded couple are in full blown wedding dress posting and shooting away. Not photos allowed inside the building, only outside in the yard and hallways.

A very well preserved old residence built during the Japanese occupation period, that has now been converted into a folk arts museum. You will find many artefacts of Taiwanese folk art as well as objects of every day living of the olden days. A place suitable for adults and children, and for both Taiwanese and tourists. There is a nice cafe in the garden as well. Ticket can be purchased at the entrance.

Love love love this place. This is definitely the highlight of my trip to Lukang. I believe this property used to belong to a very wealthy family, so we got to see what life was like in the past for these families through the fancy stuff (back then) that is left here. The bedrooms, the office, the kitchen…. are still all here and the past just seemed so vivid when I walked through the property.

(Translated by Google) It was my first time there. The place looked small, so I thought I'd walked into the wrong place. There's plenty of space inside, and the decor feels similar to Changhua. There's a salad area where you can help yourself, which is nice. The only downside is that Fly Brother also eats with the steak. The steak comes with very little side dishes, so you can save room for the salad area. The beverage section is decent, with smoothies, sodas, coffee, and even ice cream and tea jelly. The quality is quite good.

(Translated by Google) Well, the steaks start at NT$380 and come with a salad bar, which is about right, but the dining environment and restrooms have a retro, nostalgic feel. The salad bar offers vegetarian options, drinks, coffee jelly, and ice cream. Oh, the coffee isn't what coffee lovers will love. Parking is very difficult, and you probably know the traffic in Yuanlin Township. In conclusion, if you're looking for a restaurant in Changhua priced over NT$380 with a salad bar, Elephant is a better option.

(Translated by Google) Saturday, July 5, 2025, 12:30 PM, 5-minute queue This shop's taro balls are a local specialty known for their exquisite balance of taro head aroma, chewy texture, and the accent of their original sauce. When I visited, there was a line of about 5 to 10 people. I got in line, bought two, and ate them immediately. Honestly, they weren't all that special, but they're delicious when they're freshly made. Ingredients Dajia taro heads, pork hindquarters, scallion sausage, and taobai flour To make them, the taro is thinly shaved into taro threads, bound with scallion flour, and then smothered in taro threads. Inside, pork hindquarters seasoned with soy sauce and scallion sausage (Taiwanese-style fried onion sausage) are placed, covered with taro threads, and steamed to perfection. Apparently, the shop's popularity is due in part to the fact that they produce them fresh daily using large-scale steamers. Thank you for the delicious meal. The Changhua County Art Museum hosts ever-changing displays of local artworks, including paintings, graphic art, digital art, and sculptures. One notable exhibition featured Alice in Wonderland and other fairy tales. The museum is well-organized with a subtle barrier that encourages visitors to maintain distance from the artwork. Each floor has its own thematic focus, and the knowledgeable staff eagerly share information about each piece. Despite its small size, the museum offers a cozy atmosphere across its three floors.

Went with the students I'm volunteering with and was pleasantly surprised to see an exhibit about Alice in Wonderland and other fairy tales. The galleries are nicely laid out and with a medal line that is worked into the rooms so it's not in your face but expected that you keep your distance from the pieces. Every floor has a different focus and all the staff are very happy to tell you all about the work put into each piece. Very pleasant visit

Good art is intelligible and comprehensible. Bad art is unintelligible and incomprehensible. The more that art restricts itself to a particular audience, the more obscure and incomprehensible it becomes to people outside that particular audience. Good art is not confusing and incomprehensible to most people. To the contrary, good art can communicate its meaning to most people, because it expresses its meaning in a way which can be understood by everyone.art is good if it is judged to be good by the majority of people. Indeed, a great work of art is only great if it can be understood by everyone. If it is not admitted that art must be intelligible and comprehensible, then any unintelligible or incomprehensible expression of thoughts or feelings may be called "art." If any incomprehensible form of personal expression may be called "art," then the definition of art gradually loses its meaning, until it has no meaning at all.

Nestled in the heart of Taiwan, Changhua Confucius Temple is an 18th-century gem that seamlessly blends traditional Taiwanese culture with natural beauty and historical whispers. The temple features nine historic stone monuments and offers a tranquil atmosphere, making it a rare find for international visitors. The architecture reflects Zhangzhou style and differs slightly from Tainan Confucian Temple. Despite being almost demolished in the past, this place offers a spectacular view of the low-lying areas of Changhua city.

The Confucius Temple in Changhua was almost a national first-class monument that was demolished to cover shopping malls. It was built in 1726, 4 years of the Qing Dynasty Yongzheng. The architecture of Zhangzhou style is slightly different from that of Tainan Confucian Temple. During the Japanese occupation period, it was the seat of the Changhua Public School of the "National Language Center". In 1906, part of the wall door was demolished in the "urban correction plan". In 1971, the Taiwan Provincial Government and Changhua County Government once planned to demolish the Confucian Temple and sell land to cover shopping malls. Later it was demolished for renovation due to local opposition. In 1983, it was designated as a national monument.

Kaihua Temple in Changhua City is a well-established religious site with a pleasant and convenient atmosphere. Situated within walking distance from Changhua Station, it is renowned for its divine poems and abundant blessings by the Bodhisattva. This temple holds significance as the only beauty goddess temple in Taiwan, where worshippers are said to use skincare products for improved results. Additionally, it offers an intriguing experience for first-time visitors.

This is probably one of old Temples in Changhua City. People say that if you want to pass an exam or test for example a lawyer or doctor or a government civil service exam, you can bring your ID card here and take the special pen back home and then you pray for the success before you leave. If you guy work hard enough and have great confidence, you would probably pass the exam.

In addition to the common Buddha and Guanyin, the temple also enshrines the rare Dougong Doupo and Zhusheng Niangniang, showing a deep folk belief. Dougong Doupo is a local deity in Taiwan's folk beliefs. In the past, it was used to pray for the elimination of acne and the health and safety of children. Although medicine has advanced today, believers still continue to come to worship and pray for the health of their children, symbolizing a traditional protection and blessing. Zhusheng Niangniang is an important deity for many families to pray for children, safe pregnancy, and smooth delivery. There are always flowers and baby products in front of the shrine of Zhusheng Niangniang in Kaihua Temple. Many believers also prepare red eggs or dolls to fulfill their wishes. The scene is warm and touching. Overall, although Kaihua Temple is not big, its unique belief system and humanistic atmosphere make people feel a kind of warmth close to life every time they visit. Whether you are praying for peace, praying for offspring, or simply want to experience the charm of Taiwan's folk beliefs, Kaihua Temple is a small and beautiful temple worth visiting. The noodle shop 黑肉麵 offers excellent pork chop noodles and rice dishes. The pork meat is incredibly tender and soft, easily falling apart when picked up with chopsticks. It is highly recommended to visit this place whenever possible, as the food is truly delicious. However, it may be challenging to order if you don't know any Chinese. In such cases, one can always seek assistance from others or observe what fellow diners are ordering.

When I was a student, when I brought my friends from other counties to eat here, he told me that he finally understood how your appetite was trained. The portion size is sufficient, and you can add more rice if it is not enough. The rice is cooked chewy, which is quite suitable for a quick meal for one person.

Nestled in a charming retro setting, Red Leaf Cafe is a delightful spot that transports you back in time. Housed in a former hotel, the cafe features aged furniture and vintage decor reminiscent of grandma's house, complete with terrazzo floors and patterned glass. The atmosphere is relaxed and nostalgic, perfect for unwinding over a meal. While the menu offers limited salty options—most notably their crispy salty pie—the hand-brewed coffee pairs beautifully with soothing candied lemon slices.

(Translated by Google) The aged furniture, household items and telephones left over from ancient times, as well as the terrazzo floors and patterned glass you would see at a grandma's house, make the entire dining atmosphere very retro and leisurely and calm from the old era. The only salty food available is salty pie (the ingredients are pretty solid and the crust is very crispy). The candied lemon slices that come with the hand-brewed coffee are very soothing. The coffee is also average. It is a good place to take a rest and relax.

The retro-equipped store has the atmosphere of a cultural and creative environment. For brunch lovers, you may be disappointed. The ingredients are put together with the color of the plate to complement the taste. Looking at the reviews, it was mentioned that the marinated meat tastes really disappointing. After eating, the tip of the tongue is still numb after eating. The drinks that are discounted from the meal are only sweet and the proportions are sweet. The drinks are in Colin cups (this style) and the store promotes environmental protection and does not use disposable straws. It may be really inconvenient for this drink item. (I am not against environmental protection here) The above comments are from my first gourmet experience. The actual taste is all personal taste, and it is up to gourmets to experience it for themselves. Let me give an unofficial explanation. Changhua Station serves as a vital transportation hub in the city center, offering convenient access to various modes of transportation. It is well-maintained and provides fast connections to other cities and local attractions. Travelers can easily reach downtown areas on foot or by vehicle from this centrally located station. While it may be easier to reach the city by train or car, buses also offer a more economical option for getting to Changhua.

Nestled just a short stroll from the Changhua Railway Station, the Dingguang Buddhist Temple is a captivating historical site that dates back to 1761. As Taiwan's first temple dedicated to the ancient Dingguang Buddha, it holds significant cultural importance and has been designated as a county historic site. The temple honors Zheng Ziyan, an esteemed monk known for his miraculous teachings during the late Five Dynasties and early Song Dynasty.
(Translated by Google) Changhua Dingguang Buddhist Temple was built in 1761. It is the first temple in Taiwan to worship the ancient Dingguang Buddha. It is also a county-designated historic site. The original name of Dingguang Ancient Buddha is Zheng Ziyan. He was an accomplished monk from the late Five Dynasties to the early Song Dynasty. He preached Buddhism in Tingzhou, Fujian for many years, during which many miracles were handed down. He finally passed away at the age of 82. He was later worshiped in a temple by the people of Tingzhou and became the native deity of the Hakka group in Tingzhou. In the early days of the Qing Dynasty, the ancestors who came to Taiwan from Tingzhou to cultivate land also brought the Dingguang Ancient Buddha to Taiwan. As the first Dingguang Buddhist temple in Taiwan, Changhua Dingguang Buddhist Temple has naturally become the spiritual sustenance of Tingzhou people, and thus became the location of the Tingzhou Association. This temple is the nearest historic site to Changhua Station. It only takes 5 minutes to walk. Incense smoke is lingering inside the temple, and the building is antique and solemn and clean. I think it can be the first step to explore the history of Changhua. The ancient plaques in the temple are also worth seeing~ (Original)

(Translated by Google) The temple is a county-designated Grade 3 historic site. It is located at the intersection of Heping Road and Guangfu Road near Changhua Railway Station. The main deity is Dingguang Ancient Buddha, which is a relatively rare deity in Taiwan. According to the text introduction of the Changhua County Cultural Bureau in the temple: Changhua Dingguang Buddhist Temple was founded in the 26th year of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1761). It was originally named "Dingguang Temple". In the history of Taiwanese temples, it is the first Dingguang Buddhist temple in Taiwan. Its architectural scale is as big as The pattern is unknown. After several constructions during the Jiadaoguang and Xianfeng years, it became a "two entrances, two corridors with left and right wing rooms" layout, and was renamed "Dingguang Buddhist Temple". Most of the believers of Dingguang Ancient Buddha are mainly Hakka local products from the eight towns under the jurisdiction of Jiangzhou Prefecture in western Fujian. During the process of immigration to Taiwan, they played the role of patron saints of the local area. At the same time, they also took advantage of their hometown and geographical characteristics to establish guild halls in temples as It was used by immigrants from Tingzhou in the Qing Dynasty to come to Taiwan for temporary residence and communication. After the Japanese occupation, due to the "urban reform" plan, the Sanchuan Hall, left and right corridors, and temple buildings were demolished. The original Sanchuan Hall was partially rebuilt into second- and third-floor street houses, forming the layout of Dingguang Buddhist Temple today. Since the residents of Fujian and Taiwan could not travel freely after the Japanese occupation, and the wings on both sides of the temple had been demolished, the function of the guild hall was lost and it became a pure temple.

When in Changhua, make sure to visit 彰化阿璋肉圓 for a taste of their famous meatball. Unlike the typical meatballs found abroad, this one features a chewy glutinous skin enveloping the flavorful meat, served with a generous amount of gravy. The addition of bamboo shoots and small mushrooms provides a delightful crunch without being too oily. This local favorite has even been featured in movies and is known for its budget-friendly prices.
If you are in Changhwa to try the local fare, you really got to stop by this shop to try the famous meatball. It’s a different type from what’s usually seen abroad, cos the meat is enveloped in a glutinous type of skin that’s very chewy. With a generous serving of gravy, the meatball can be very filling. There’s also some bamboo shoots and a small mushroom in the meatball, making it crunchy and not too oily. The shop was featured in a popular TW film in 2013, and the President was at the shop to try before. So it’s perpetually full of customers popping for a snack. You should order a soup to go along with the meatball. I ordered a gongwan (small meatball) soup that’s cheap and delicious!

Popular Ba Wan Taiwanese meatball store in Changhua. Must try traditional dish when visiting Changhua. Flavourful but the meatball I got wasn't cooked through and was too chewy. Plenty more seats with aircon across the street. More comfortable. Clean toilet. Free soup provided to customers.

This dish is entirely new to me. I was told it's meatball and I was expecting round meatballs, but it was completely different. A bit starchy but the gravy was nicely flavoured with tender meat, and patronised by someone famous.

I didn’t feel that the attitude of the boss and the staff was bad as other reviews said. While waiting for the pot, I put the rice first, but as soon as I took the first bite, I felt a very strange smell, so I didn't finish the rice (I didn't mean to waste it) Coming to the pot, the ingredients taste good and the intestines are delicious. However, compared to my boyfriend’s pot, the area around the pot is actually quite dirty. You can tell at a glance that it has not been cleaned. I hope the clean part can be done. Strengthen it a little more, otherwise I will lose my appetite immediately. After all, I will finish all the food after paying😅 (The picture attached is like this around my pot right after it was brought to the table.
