Tamaraw Falls, named after the rare Tamaraw buffalo native to Mindoro Island, is a picturesque waterfall in Puerto Galera. It offers artificial pools at the base for visitors to swim and enjoy the serene, crystal-clear waters surrounded by lush greenery. The area also features a challenging hiking trail along the river's descent through the mountain.
We recently visited this waterfall with the family, and it was quite the adventure. It’s literally just beside the road, making it super accessible with no fee to enjoy the view. The only challenge was the parking—the shoulder was a bit too narrow, so it got a little tight.
The falls themselves are absolutely beautiful—tall with plenty of water flowing down. They even built a platform so we could get closer, and we all loved feeling the refreshing mist spray on us. As we were exploring, local folks were super nice and really went out of their way to help us. They took group photos and even captured a fun “human drone” style video for us. The only thing they asked was that we buy something from their shop—we ended up picking up a bottle of coke and some buko juice.
It started raining, so we didn’t stay long, but it was still a memorable experience. We really appreciated how welcoming everyone was and how they made this natural wonder accessible for everyone to enjoy.

Tamaraw Falls was quite something to experience, not because of the waterfalls, but what the staff there did. Apparently, they have what you call a "human drone" where they take a video for you that's kind of like a video done with a drone, but only on the ground. It's a bit confusing to explain, but the experience was amazing. Super thanks to the person there who helped take videos of us. The footage came out really great! There's also a pool at the bottom of the falls on the other side of the bridge. We didn't swim there, so I can't comment on it. There's also a souvenir shop at the side of the road. Other than that, there's not much to see here really.
The breathtaking waterfalls offer a truly relaxing experience for everyone. Small shops offer a variety of goods, and conveniently located bathrooms are available for use. The swimming pond is a refreshing oasis, surrounded by positive energy. Hiking trails are also available, allowing for exploration of the area. This location offers a wonderful experience for everyone.
This waterfall is literally just beside the road. No fee to see it but the parking is a bit tight as the shoulder is too narrow.
It's a beautiful waterfall. Tall and have lots of water. They built something to get closer to the falls and the mist was spraying on us. We did not stay long because it was raining too but it was commendable that they made this accessible for everyone to see.
The falls is still beautiful no matter what season. Don't ever attempt to visit during a storm since it will be impassable. My family were able to swim below the man-made pool. It needed some serious maintenance then and even now.
The toilet along the road was asking for ₱10 entrance for use but there are no doors for the cubicles. It has so many things stacked up inside the small room. Cleanliness, major repairs and management of the place are issues that the LGU needs to focus on.
Parking is an issue on peak season. Park at your own risk along the road.
Tamaraw Falls in Puerto Galera is a stunning natural attraction, featuring a majestic multi-tiered cascade surrounded by lush greenery. The cool, refreshing water is perfect for a quick dip, and the scenic views make it ideal for photos. It’s an easy, worthwhile stop for nature lovers and road-trippers alike.
Pretty sight to see. Friendly people around to take photos. They go the extra mile with the photos as well. There is a pool that you can access as well if interested. We did not swim so can't comment much on that. Food and drinks available. It is just a road stop so watch for cars. The drive up is also very enjoyable, as is any drive on the island.
We hired a motorcycle for 500 pesos per day. We did not hire a motorcycle from port Batangas because these people were charging 1000 pesos. We hired one from Tamaraw Beach Resort and drove to see Tamaraw Falls. The falls are just beside the main road. You do not have to pay a fee but if you want to go down the stairs and swim then you have to pay 50 pesos per person. Since we had a motorcycle, it was easier to park beside the road, but if you had a car, this would be challenging. The waterfall herself is beautiful. You should visit this place. There are no toilet facilities there ...

Nestled deep within the lush jungle, Tukuran Falls is a captivating natural wonder that promises an unforgettable experience. Located about 45 minutes south of Puerto Galera in the village of Calsapa, this enchanting site features a series of gentle cascades and stunning turquoise swimming holes. The journey to Tukuran Falls involves a scenic 30-minute trek from the trailhead, where hiring a local guide is essential for navigating the path.
Enjoyable waterfall experience near San Theodoro. Note the turn off from the main road does not appear to be signposted but its fairly obvious. The waterfalls can be reached in two ways both of which are enjoyable. Walking in from the parking area which involves Cross the river around 5 times or taking a cart pulled by a carabao, which is a pretty unique experience. the river is fairly fast and mostly knee deep.
The walk to the falls is flats and fairly easy. The falls themselves are fairly popular so arrive early to avoid crowds. Very attractive spot with lots of swimming, surprisingly clean.

Highlights:
• A truly authentic experience riding a Carabao, the national animal of the Philippines.
• Stunning natural scenery—waterfalls, birds, a river, and lush palm trees.

• No animal cruelty involved, as the Carabao only travels twice a day.
Lowlights:
• Upon arrival, my husband and I were immediately surrounded by three women bombarding us with fees—parking, entrance, Carabao ride, etc.
• Once we agreed on pricing, they called our driver, prepared the cart, and suddenly said, “Ma’am, we will all go with you.” This left us confused—why did three people need to tag along when we weren’t even trekking?
• At the falls, they aggressively upsold food. We weren’t hungry yet, but they insisted we must order now since grilling takes time. We declined three times, but they wouldn’t let it go, so we gave in.
• The three women followed us everywhere—to the falls, up the falls, and even to our cottage, just watching us swim.
• During lunch, they stood around us, fanning away flies. We told them we were fine and wanted to enjoy our meal in peace, but they wouldn’t stop.
• After eating, one of them sat beside me and said, “Ma’am, this is our only livelihood. The three of us guided and assisted you, and at the end of the trip, it’s up to you how much you can give us.” To me, this felt like a scam—we never asked for a guide, let alone three people shadowing us the entire time.
I always tip and am more than happy to do so, but I don’t appreciate being pressured with guilt poverty poor stories.
Tukuran Falls is still worth visiting—just be aware of these so-called ‘tour guides.’ I would rate it 5 stars if I didn't experience these tour guides!
The scenic spot is very natural and can only be reached by trekking through mountains and rivers
25min walkable from falls And 15mins ride by carabao at the main entrance. Its your choice which one you like.We choose by our feet to getting there.Its fun trekking, easy trek 1/5 , just scorching weather during that time.we pass by 5-6 rivers. Must wear comfy water shoes/sandals . For entrance fee its cost 50 pesos only.Rivers are clear and clean and u can swim. At the Main entrance of waterfalls there is a small souvenir shop and food to eat but pricey. Enjoy your trekking!
We went out here a little bit late, so we couldn't follow anyone and were a little lost to begin with. But actually just follow the river to the left after the village and you'll find it. We wanted to take the Ox cart, but couldn't do it because the condition of the ox. They put a rope through the nose and control it that way. It's an extreme pain for the ox. So we walked. It took about half an hour and it was beautiful. We met the women that works in the regrestri, she was on the way home. But she walked back with us to show us what is dangerous.. And she was really nice.
The place is just beautiful.
This was a nice surprise! The walk to the falls are through river beds, taking about 15-20m. My 7 year daughter had a blast walking there.
The falls are really pretty, you can swim in the large pools. I am pleased to say they are very clean.

Awesome waterfall! Very cool waters on a hot sunny day! Had a blast swimming under the waterfall and enjoying free back massage from the rushing falling waters! Serene and beautiful environs! Big rocks with character! Charming people ready to assist visitors on foot climbing the rocks and on waters on the way to the waterfall. Enjoyable carabao ride, slowly traversing the river and the lush trees and vegetation along the way!
It’s a wonderful place. From the parking lot you can walk through rivers and forests to get there in 20 minutes or you can take a buffalo ride which is a bit faster (costs 500 php). We walked and it was amazing.

Puerto Galera Mangrove Conservation is a well-preserved reserve with a bamboo boardwalk that offers a scenic view of the mangroves and the open sea. For an entrance fee of P30, visitors can stroll through the area and learn about mangroves from informative posters along the way. The walkway provides an enjoyable eco-tour, although some parts may need maintenance.

A beautiful peaceful place to take photos
This place will remind you not to be a**hole to nature. The place is well-preserved and can be visited with only an entrance fee of P30 (less than a dollar). Along the way, there are posters in which you can learn about facts related to mangroves and the place's history. From here, there is also a spot wherein you can have a spectacular view of the open sea. This is a place to visit when in Puerto Galera.
The scenic view of the mangroves and the beach while walking on kawayan bridge is the most enjoyable part of this eco-tour. There are informative posters within the bridge way explaining the kinds of animal and mangrove species that you can find within the area.
However, some parts of the bamboo bridge already need fixing. So be careful while walking.

Muelle Puerto Galera Pier is one of the main entry points to Puerto Galera, offering a smooth boat journey from Batangas Port. The sea travel takes over an hour, making it a convenient option for reaching the island. Once at the pier, visitors can enjoy various activities such as island hopping, which includes cave rock exploration and snorkeling with fishes and giant clam sightseeing.
We visited Muelle Cultural Heritage Park in which we were greeting by a tour guide and almost instantly you can see a replica of galleon ship, a swarm of giant bat fruit resting on the Tall trees of mangrove and snorkling on manila channel..you have many things to do here, so if i were you come and visit the Muelle Cultural Heritage Park and see it for your self...

When we visited Muelle Puerto Galera Pier, we noticed that some parts were under construction, particularly the cement railings along the walkway. This made certain areas feel a bit unsafe, as there were fewer barriers preventing people from falling into the water. Hopefully, once completed, these improvements will make the area safer and more visually appealing.
One of the most interesting sights here is the cement galleon, a unique structure designed to resemble an old Spanish ship. It adds a historical and artistic touch to the pier, making it a great spot for photos. While it looks impressive, some parts seem to be undergoing maintenance as well.
Despite the ongoing work, the scenic views of the bay were still stunning. The heritage park and boardwalk provide a nice place to walk around, take photos, and enjoy the ocean breeze. There are also small shops selling local snacks, souvenirs, and fresh seafood, which added to the experience.
The pier is busy but functional, serving as a major entry point to Puerto Galera. If you’re catching a boat, arriving early is a good idea to avoid crowds. Cellular signal was weak, and while WiFi is reportedly available for a fee, I didn’t get to try it.
Overall, it’s a good place to visit if you’re in Puerto Galera. The cement galleon is a cool highlight, but the ongoing construction of the railings does take away some of the charm. Once the renovations are finished, it should be an even better and safer spot for visitors.
The historical displays are quite numerous and present a rich tapestry of the past. One can also enjoy the beautiful nature walks that meander through the area. It is interesting to see the large bats, especially during the bright daylight hours. Small villages offer quaint shopping areas for unique finds. The environment is also remarkably clean and well-maintained for visitors.

You can also get someone to do island hopping here, just ask somewhere near the golf pick up point.
Muelle Pier is a great place to learn about the town’s history. There is even a replica galleon with displays about Puerto Galera’s past. It is also the main jump off point for island hopping and snorkeling, which I highly recommend (tons of colorful fish!).
In the afternoon and evening, food stalls line the bay for a nice casual food trip. There are also restaurants nearby, right at the entrance and along the main road.
A nice place to chill and see the mountains and scenic view of the bay. On both ends of the park, there are 2 big replicas of the Galleon. Nakaka One Piece vibe dahil sa color. It is indeed one of the most beautiful bays in the world. Clean. Organized and scenic! Right side of the park is a bridge with mangroves. Such a nice place to explore and visit. I parked my motorcycle on a church nearby.

We rode a motorcycle from sang beach to get here. It cost ₱500, including the gas fee.
A boatman named Frysico told us that a boat costs ₱800 for 4 people for 1 hour of island hopping (for reference).

absolutely loved it! it cost 1.050 to do three activities. the go-carting was my favourite but it's all great. the staff are so nice and helpful. I highly recommend command this place. if you do ATV you're going to get wet so maybe bring a towel and spare change of clothes? they have showers. enjoy 😉

Super fun experience—highly recommend!
The place is massive once you get inside, with tons of outdoor activities to try. My girlfriend and I went for the 3-activity package, and it was totally worth it. We did archery (20 arrows), go-karting (10 laps), and mudkarting with a 4x4 (3 laps). Each one was a blast!
We went on a weekday, so we basically had the whole place to ourselves. At the service desk, the staff were friendly and helpful. We signed a quick waiver and used the lockers for our stuff (just leave a deposit, which you get back afterward).
Definitely planning to come back and try the other activities. Great place for couples, friends, or even team outings!

This place have to go to try if you are visiting Peruto Galera. It cheap they have around 7 games to choose for. We tried the gokart ATV Crossbow and Sniper. Each game around 350 peso it's cheap!!!

The staff are all very helpful and fun to be with. They take great photos and videos, and they are very hands-on. The activities look fantastic as well. Although we only participated in two activities—paintball and mud carting—they were both worth it, especially the mud carting. This is a must-do activity site in Puerto Galera with your friends or family!

A bit disappointed with the food, service and ambience. We dined in their wine place if I'm not mistaken. The place is not good if there's someone talking loudly. The food is just average. A bit too pricey compared to its taste. The wait staff are attentive and always smile. But our overall experience can be better.

The food was great. I especially loved the marinara pasta in white wine. For a Philippine provincial setting, their wine selection was quite extensive, too. Ate right away and forgot to take pics, but here's the frozen pistachio dessert.
The indoor dining area is cozy, but if you're dining at the al fresco area in the afternoon/evening, better have some mosquito repellant.
Good food. Comprehensive drink selection but my latte was served in a plastic cup. Great service. Place was small, one could say cozy. Seating truly limited. Bathroom definitely needs work.
Located in the town proper. They have street parking. The restaurant has inside and aisle seating. I recommend the four cheese pizza. The beef salpicao is good also. The Guanciale Carbonara is good also. A liitle more parmesan and its perfect. The seating is not comfortable. They have a good selection of steak cuts. Choose and they cook it for you.
Really great place to eat in puerto galera!! We had a Bruschetta starter . I had pasta arrabiata , my daughter had the Italian club sandwich, my son had sisig and everything was good. 😊 Mango shake was done well also. A lot of places by the beach on white beach are just pretty standard except for a few. There's a seating area with AC and outside . We went during a quiet lunch time ,so we were not greeted by a full place. It might differ on certain times. The waitresses were nice and efficient. A great spot to try here. If I was with friends , would definitely try the drinks!
I could choose the meat myself and eat the steak full enough. but the sauce doesn't really suit Korean tastes. if u are a korean.. then should bring like... even just "A1 sauce " The pizza was great!!! Make sure to order the pizza recommended by the staff.
Good pizza in town. We enjoyed it. It's not that cheap but have value. Quick service. Just don't like the location and side stairs. If get back in town, yes will eat again.

White Beach, located on the west side of Puerto Galera city, is easily accessible and popular among locals and tourists alike. The beach offers a laid-back vibe with picturesque views and various water sports activities such as jetskiing, parasailing, and banana boat rides. Additionally, visitors can enjoy swimming in the clear waters or explore the area's dive centers for scuba gear and guides.

Nice and calm place to stay if you love just to lay on the beach, to have a massage and drink in the bar at night..Some activities are overpriced, so be careful what activities you choose, use a tourist company!

Perfect for a quick getaway. Food, accommodations and transportation are quite expensive. Tips: Make sure to book a place where you can cook. Rent a motorbike if you wanted to roam around the island.
Food, souvenirs, tours are pricey but if you know how to haggle you can get stuff for lower proces.
Area is not that congested during May. Beach is not dirty and well maintained.
What I like the beach is I can swin any time, not like other beaches I went I need to wait for high tide. Also the sunset here is pretty amazing!

We visited this beach early in the morning around 6 AM, and it was completely empty, which was perfect for us. We were looking for a calm, quiet, and clean spot, especially compared to White Beach, which is usually crowded. The peaceful atmosphere made it a great place to relax and enjoy nature. It’s just a 10 minute walk from the main road, and the serenity you find there makes the short walk absolutely worth it.
This beach once was my backyard! Enjoyed my morning walks here. Just sad that I had to flee this beautiful beach. Ayalas frequently this beach occasionally. They are quiet humble people.
It's an effort to find, but it's definitely worth it. Much better than White Beach. We had to go through a path that was closed off to vehicles to get there, but once there, we were happy to have the beach almost all to ourselves :D
If you're coming during monsoon season, however, better be careful of the strong waves!
Beach quality is same as White Beach, but there's way less people, no restaurants around, and less pebbles on the beach. 10/10 would recommend going here. Not too far from the main road, maybe a 2 minute walk, but you can't bring a vehicle in. 5 minutes away from AV Suites reception area.
Got lost finding the secret passage to this beach but definitely worth the trouble. This beach is perfect for relaxing because it's not crowded.

A really nice walk. I went without a guide, the path is not so easy to find and you have to watch your step, but the nature is beautiful and so is the waterfall. I was the only person there so I enjoyed just sitting there watching the waterfall and listening to the rain.

The walk to the Falls did not take long. The path runs adjacent to the river, with a couple crossings on the way up, which is very enjoyable.
I learnt about the Mangyan culture, history, agricultural methods, previous mining operations, old folklore stories, and the resourcefulness of living in the mountains.
To learn about the depth and nature of the people was more rewarding than the visual beauty of the hike itself, and the views were pretty damn amazing.

Reaching the falls was a bit of a challenge, as the stones along the path were quite slippery. Thankfully, Kuya Haymee guided us safely through the trail. It took us around 15-20 minutes at a relaxed pace to get there.
The falls itself is small but full of character. It has a unique charm, and the natural lighting in the area made it especially photogenic. perfect for quiet moments or creative shots
Awesome experience here! It was 300 pesos for 2 of us, the hike took about 25 minutes, it was rocky and a little difficult in the heat, (we got there at 10:30AM), after the swim at the top we were able to walk through their little village and buy some souvenirs from the locals for 20-500 pesos depending on what it was. Everyone was super nice and wanted to say hello! Would highly recommend this waterfall experience. Water was cold at the top and was a must after the hike up!
Small falls but easy to get to. You don't need a guide just follow the river upstream. You need to sign-in at the village, nice people, they'll offer to guide you. Not needed. No cost but they accept donations of course. Village is super cool with nice baskets and related crafts .. they are really well made and for a good price. The falls are small and you can follow the creek upstream to more small falls. Lots of good swimming holes. Really nice, not knock your socks off but worth the trip. I bought some crafts there which really says something 😉

A fantastic restaurant—no pushy staff trying to lure you in, and since it’s located a bit further down White Beach, it was a bit quieter.
We chose to have the tenderloin with rosemary potatoes. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to take a photo before we started eating, but wow, it was absolutely delicious! The chef (possibly the owner) even came out to ask how the food was—that’s great service. The meat was incredibly tender.
Of course, prices on White Beach are a bit higher, but it was well worth the money. In Sweden, you’d easily pay twice as much for a steak like that.
Highly recommend a visit! We’ll definitely be back to try the seafood next time.

We went here as we were craving some pasta. And the homemade pasta was a dream. Also everything else was delicious. We had the pasta, tomato salad and grilled fish and everything was absolutely delicious. That's why we had to come back today and try some other dishes. We had the seafood pasta, the beef steak and hummus as appetizer and again we are so happy and full. We can definitely recommend this place for great food and good wine.

Great Beachside Dining Experience
Despite noticing that some dishes seemed pre-prepared to ensure quick service, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality and service at this beachside restaurant. The staff were friendly, and a gentleman who appeared to be the chef checked on us during both of our lunch visits to ensure we were enjoying our experience.
It was a safe place to eat and enjoy a pleasant moment with a view of the sea, free from the disturbance of street vendors. The combination of good food, attentive service, and a relaxing atmosphere made it a memorable dining experience.
One of the best restaurants I've experienced in the Phillipines (I'm from the USA) for both food and service! They even have cheese fondue on the menu, made by the restaurant owner who is from Switzerland. I tried many different dishes and all of them were wonderful. You can't go wrong eating here. The bathroom is very clean, too.

The food and service were excellent, paired with a majestic view. My favorite breakfast was the longanissa with egg, and for snacks, I loved the turon with a cafe americano. The menu had a good variety, and we enjoyed every meal from breakfast to dinner. What impressed me most was how they accommodated special food requests for my toddler son—such thoughtful service!
Bed and Breakfast Accommodations
My husband and I stayed in the Mulawin 2 room, which was spacious, clean, and incredibly homey. I haven’t slept so soundly in a long time! Waking up to the breathtaking view of mountains and trees from the veranda was a perfect way to start the day. It was a “zen” experience—ideal for meditation, reflection, or simply relaxing in the cozy chair with a book and coffee. It’s truly what rest should feel like.
Golf Simulator and Golf Course
Even as a non-golfer, I had a blast! The golf simulator was cozy, air-conditioned, and equipped with high-tech gear—the same simulator used by Tiger Woods, as I was informed. With the caddy’s guidance, I even got the hang of proper swinging form and grip. My husband had fun learning too but I was more into it.
So after practicing with the golf simulator, I tried the golf course for the first time! Riding the golf cart to each hole was fun, and though it was nerve-wracking at first, the caddy’s professionalism and encouragement made the experience enjoyable. The course itself was a fantastic challenge, with its uphill and downhill holes providing a great workout. The scenery while playing was absolutely stunning.
Beaches
Just 15 minutes away from the Ponderosa Country Club, my family visited Tamaraw Beach early in the morning. It was quiet and peaceful, with only a few people around, making it the perfect spot for family photos. The beauty of the beach was breathtaking, and it added another layer of joy to our trip.
Snorkeling and Trails
Ponderosa also helped us arrange snorkeling and connected us to Edward, who picked us up with a speed boat to Media Island. With Edward were Manong Fred, a local native, and Jovy, a writer and researcher who shared the history of the island and their conservation efforts.
We started with a short 10-minute trail to the “Titanic” spot, which was perfect for photos. After the trek, we were treated to fresh buko, which was incredibly refreshing. Next, we went snorkeling, cruising over coral reefs in a “bangka.” The highlight was spotting and following a large sea turtle—it was an unforgettable experience!
Edward then took us to explore the Underwater Cave, which was both thrilling and picturesque. This part of the trip truly felt like an adventure, and the memories we made were priceless.
Final Thoughts
Ponderosa Golf Course exceeded my expectations in every way. From the delicious food to the serene accommodations, fun activities, and nearby attractions, it was an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended for families, couples, and anyone looking for a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure!

Puerto Galera's hidden gem! Can't believe more people don't know about this beautiful golf course with stunning views of the Puerto Galera landscape. The course is challenging but beginners can try it anyway. There are golf clinics held regularly for newbies like me, so you can learn and improve. All the more reason to come back to Puerto Galera.

My family spent a day walking up to Ponderosa as recommended by a friend (which for reference takes roughly 1hr) it is a bit of an uphill climb but well worth it. When we got there we had lunch and coffee. The food and drinks were decent but nothing could beat the location. Super peaceful veranda with gardens and the most amazing view. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for something to do or a quiet place to work in Puerto.
The only golf course on Mindoro. A short 9-hole layout, it's built on a steeply pitched part of the property. The course demands precision and is best played with par as the objective. The greens are tiny but have been rehabilitated and are rolling much better than on my first visit here. Your short game needs to be on point to score well.
Local rules are interesting; it was designed as a fun course, so play with that in mind. Preferred lies anywhere on the golf course, within one club of the ball's original position, no nearer the hole. Drop zones being established on several holes as the position of the greens doesn't give you a place to miss.
A path is being built to allow a shuttle to transport players back up the steeper part of the course. This will make the course more enjoyable to play.
The views are spectacular, so don't take your game too seriously here. Stop, have a cold beverage and take in the scenery. It's a good time.
Food is excellent, beer's cold and served in a frosty mug. The clubhouse is homey and well appointed. A golf simulator is being installed and will add to the overall experience. Something to look forward to.
Four very homey rooms are available at the moment and another six will be ready soon. All have wonderful vistas of Batangas Bay just outside the door. A quiet, very peaceful place to stay while exploring all that Puerto Galera has to offer.
This is perfect, you should not miss this place when you go to Puerto Gallera, the view is good, restaurant has reasonable price, they also have zip line and other activities..

Balatero Port in Batangas offers an easy ticket purchasing process and professional loading of vehicles. With a calm crossing, finding a bunk is hassle-free due to the manageable number of passengers. The port has seen significant improvements over the years, making arrivals trouble-free. However, there may be changes underway as evident from ongoing construction work. While there might be a wait upon arrival, it's generally fast.
The place that you will be first welcomed when going to Puerto Galera. It is very clean and orderly. No problems getting on and off the island. Just take note of the 120php environmental fee ( as of posting the review )

A generally good experience for travelers. Upon arrival, tourists are required to pay a P120 Environmental Fee, with discounts available for PWDs and Senior Citizens.
While the overall atmosphere is pleasant and the staff is helpful, the basic facilities could be improved. The toilet outside the port near the gate was not well-maintained during my last visit in January, and the one inside lacks running water, requiring travelers to use a water dipper (tabo) for washing hands and flushing. Despite these minor issues, the port is clean and organized, making it a convenient gateway for travelers. With some improvements to the facilities, it could be even better

The port is clean, and the waiting area is air-conditioned, making the wait comfortable. Getting tickets was super easy—no hassle at all. When you arrive, tourists pay an environmental fee (₱120 when we visited) and are asked about their accommodation.
There’s a tricycle terminal right outside the entrance/exit gate, so getting to your hotel or destination is very convenient. Overall, a smooth and hassle-free experience!
Upon arrival at Balatero Port, tourists need to pay P120 Environmental Fee (PWD/Senior discount applies). However the basic facilities leave much to be desired-specifically the toilet. Toilet outside the port near the gate was dirty last time I went (back in January). Toilet inside the port doesn’t have running water so travelers need to use the water dipper(tabo) to wash hands/pour on the toilet bowl.
The waiting area is air conditioned with metal seats. The area seems sufficient during lean season but it might not be spacious enough during peak season.
Simple and easier to get into the port. Just need to get a ticket from the Montenegro office just outside the port, once inside, pay for the port duty and there you go. Boarding is 1 hour before and vessel sail almost on time.
Small pier, easy to get around. Tickets have to be bought a bit further down the street from the respective ferry operators.
Careful with the tricycle drivers: they often try to overcharge. There is a big sign with the rates to different destinations right at the exit of the port area (e.g. 60 PHP to Sabang, not 250).

The food taste is hyped up, I had the pizza there and nothing is special about, its just a usual pizza with a higher cost. Pasta portion is small, maybe it is good for 1 to 1.5 person and again, it's a normal pasta not worth the price. Even the complementary bread is kinda hard to bite or maybe it is just for me. Lastly, the place is extremely hot and they do not have enough air circulation inside. Didn't even invest to add more electric fan to cover all area. I mean selling a pizza order can give you enough money to buy 1 electric fan yet they didn't. So, if you still wanna tryout, just do not go on hot days especially summer.

Now it’s one of my favourite Italian restaurant in Philippines. The view is amazing both daylight and at night. I love the House wine is ridiculously fine finished. The seafood platter is fantastic and so cheap so as the soup. The tiramisu is delicious i could definitely get another one. Casa Mia in White beach is a nice place to visit when you want to chill at night and take a sip of wine while having dinner with a date, family or friends. Ordered my usual go to whenever I'm in an Italian restaurant, Pasta Pomodoro and Pizza Margherita. The food is just ok nothing special, good thing staff are friendly and nice though. Owner is friendly too always welcoming and thanking guests. Hopefully they revise some recipe and make their food tastier, will still go back here for a legit italian pizza and the beautiful view, go around sunset. Thank you for filling up my belly 😄

We definitely will be back!

Away from the noise of white beach but they have a free transportation to travel between the hotel to white beach. You have both breathtaking mountain and sea view. You must see it for yourself! Felt a little nervous ordering dinner since we were alone and nobody had reviewed it in 4 years but it was prepared with care and delicious. Got caldaretta, beef sinigang, and pinakbet. Breakfast was great too.
Standard-queen room was clean with working AC, and all the staff were kind, warm, and accommodating. No language barrier for English speakers.
Walking up the hill takes 1-2 minutes and is a great workout. If you'd like, they offered a free shuttle with a sweet driver whenever we needed it to and from the nearby attractions and the port.
For the quality this place is a bargain. Would love to come back someday.

The major features of our room was the wonderful views, spaciousness of the main room and bathroom, a wide balcony which can be used to enjoy meals or to let clothes dry after you went to the beach/pool. The cleanliness of our room was great compared to other hotels although it could be cleaned up in some corners. There were minor issues with some appliances such as the bathroom vent, and water temperature for the shower, but the staff will always be there to help anyway. Overall, based on the room we had you could assume that other rooms will be in the same condition. Room cleaning is from 8am to 4pm when requested.
*The food was first rate and fresh! Awesome price compared to the tourist traps of Playa Blanca = White Beach location. Val's cooking and Vilma's attention makes your eating experience wonderful.

Indidn't have so much pictures of this place but it was really really lovely.
The rooms are clean and spacious. It's homey and most of all, the views are amazing. What I loved most was the room balcony since we had a double deluxe room and the view from their resto which overlooks the sea. The staffs are also accommodating and friendly.
However, this place is a bit far from the sea, but the resort made sure to make up for it by having a shuttle service who will pick you up and drop you off to the port and to the beach.
This is a place really worth coming back to.
The staff is very well-accommodating, they were all nice towards the fellow guests.
They could give you a ride back & forth your journey (dropping you off near at one of their restaurants) without extra cost. (We made sure to give tips though) The hill is very steep, I recommend an extra precaution.
The rooms look good enough and even the bathroom is okay. There is a pool and 2 sets of jacuzzi. There is a bar beside it. The food served from the restaurant is very delicious, but the serving time takes longer than usual.

There is free shuttle to and from nearby White Beach at any time, and also for guests arriving and departing. My most memorable moment among quite a few was on Christmas Eve, when Owen, the owner, invited all the guests to dinner at his place. It was a wonderful night.
It's a gem of a resort tucked away in the hills. A lot of privacy, serenity and great views, and scrumptious food. The staff are very courteous and the rooms are huge with verandas overlooking Mt. Malasimbo. The pool bar serves cold beers and yummy appetizers and the restaurant serves good food in big portions, like pizzas, American and Filipino breakfast, also serves German and Asian cuisine. The restaurant has a great view of the bay.

Very disappointing experience at Amami Beach Resort. We booked a stay for 2 nights, but we didn’t even stay for a single night — that’s how bad it was.
First of all, the photos online are extremely misleading. What they advertise is far from the reality. The place looks worn down, not well-maintained, and lacks basic comfort.
We were traveling with a child and a senior with mobility issues, and despite informing them ahead of time, they assigned us a room on the second floor with steep stairs and no assistance offered. It was completely unsafe and inconsiderate. The pathways around the resort were also uneven and poorly lit, making it a hazard, especially for kids and seniors.
We ended up leaving immediately and booking another hotel just to ensure our family’s safety and comfort. This place is not family-friendly and certainly not worth the price. I don’t recommend it at all, especially if you’re traveling with children or elderly companions.

I was at the end of my business trip and decided to spend a day at the beach. I booked this hotel online. They had nice pictures of the room and a low price for a budget traveler like me. I arrived late in the afternoon and when I checked in, I was told that my room was somewhere else and was at the other side of the street along the main road. This was not the room I was expecting (the one I saw online) and was totally different from the one I thought I was getting. They took me there on a tuktuk which was fine since the checkin counter was about 200 meters from the road. They told me the room did not have airconditioning so they were giving me an electric fan and offered me complimentary breakfast since the room had broken airconditioning. I agreed since it was not that warm that day and was told the room had windows, so that was fine with me. The staff was friendly to assist me and check my room. She wanted to check if the aircondition was working. It did, so she didn’t need to offer me free breakfast the next day.
But just a bit of caution to those who want to stay in this place. Please don’t expect it to be great. I got a room that was not even close to the photo they advertise online. Security is zero, if anyone wanted to break in they can easily sneak inside your room through the window. The door knob was also broken. No dead bolt inside the room. Strangely, the dead bolt was outside. Anyone who wanted to trap me in the room would have just slid the dead bolt.
The place is not so clean. Steep staircase to the second floor is not friendly for kids and the elderly.
Walkways had no lights so better have a flashlight ready otherwise you can trip over the uneven path.
You need to have their mobile number ready with you if you need to call the front desk.
The beach? It was disappointing. If you want to swim, go to White Beach instead, but you will need to spend ₱300 to get there if you take a tricycle or tuktuk.
I left early the next day.
It was really worst experience with this resort.
We already booked a room thru online booking.com it was paid and when we got there the receptionist told us that the online booking system had issue so they would have to refund the payment and look for another resort. They offered us to the next resort for one night then we will go back to their resort on the second day without price changes. It was hassle for us because we are from Manila. The room has no toothpaste, soap and lack of towels. The room is also different from what we have booked online. So we were scammed. We don't have a choice but to stay still. My friend gave her valid ID upon checking-in. The moment we checked-out they did not return her valid ID. She just realized it when we came back here in Manila. The staff should have a responsibility to return any personal things to their guests. We ate breakfast and paid for 190 pesos. The water dispenser is free for one time only and there is a 10 pesos fee for refill. It was horrible. We paid for food but the water is not for free? That was so insane. I won't recommend this resort to any people. I swear you will not enjoy their service.
Avoid at All Costs – Unsafe, Unhygienic, and Completely Unacceptable
I can't understand why there are so many 5 star reviews. I understand that this is a 2 star resort, but in all honesty I would definitely recommend going elsewhere.
This was hands down the worst travel experience we've ever had, and I feel compelled to warn others—especially families with children.
We booked 6 nights at Amami Beach Resort hoping for a peaceful beach stay with our 4 year old and 3-month-old baby. What we got was the exact opposite: no air-conditioning, even after we made it clear we had an infant with us in the intense tropical heat. The staff refused to move us to a room with AC, even though it was absolutely necessary for our baby's safety and the resort did not look "fully booked" as we were told.
Within 15 minutes of arriving, we realized there was no way we could stay there. The room was dark, stuffy, unclean, and completely unsuitable for a child—or frankly, anyone. When we requested a refund, explaining the situation, the staff was cold and dismissive. They outright refused, not even offering a partial refund.
To make things worse, the beach was crawling with stray, diseased-looking dogs, some limping or clearly sick. It was not only sad but incredibly unsafe, especially with a small child. There was no sense of security, no cleanliness, and absolutely no regard for guest well-being.
The photos online are highly misleading, the facilities are rundown, and the resort is in an isolated area with few options nearby. This place is not just poorly managed—it’s negligent.
If you care about safety, hygiene, or basic human decency, stay far away from Amami Beach Resort. It’s a complete scam and a disgrace to hospitality.

BEWARE OF THIS RESORT!!!
Booked through Agoda and everything was confirmed. When we arrived, they said that our booking was not in their system. We were so lost as it was peak season and don't have anywhere else to go. The lady from reception offered us refund but it was not enough as we have already wasted travel expense, and time going to their hotel.
I looked at some of the reviews in Agoda and several guests experienced the same. I assume that they always give their rooms to those who walk in, or to Koreans/Chinese whom they can charger higher rates than Agoda.
Don't bother coming. Rooms aren't that good either. Such a shame that a good beach is overshadowed by fraudulent business owners

We didn’t expect a Korean/Italian red light district when we arrived here. The place was clean. One thing I noticed is that there is no utility poles resulting in a clean and relaxing mood.
We rented a motorcycle from White Beach just to visit Sabang Beach. However, there's no beach at all. Not worth it if you're not into diving.

We were 5 people coming from Manila and took private transport going there , first taxi pick up at the hotel in Manila and dropped off at the private boat taking us to the pier of our dive resort. A cost of 15000 php. We thought it was expensive, so we booked the puplic ferry and bus through sikat going back to Manila. The price of 8000 php + taxi to the ferry + taxi from station to hotel in Manila. We saved only 3000 php and used around 2 hours more on the road. Not worth the amount we saved. I'll recommend private. Both of them are expensive.

The dishes here tasted delicious! Seafood and vegetables is fresh not frozen ones. The meal I ordered is the special day menu, the prize is more than 600php depending on the size of see food. It is cost effective to have someone sharing the meal. The owner and the staff is friendly. The restaurant is hidden in a small alley but the space inside the restaurant is comfortable. The rest room is clean!

We had great fun diving with Action Divers. The ratio of divers to guide was small (3:1), and they accommodated two night dives for us. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. We went to Isla Verde and had a full safety briefing on the currents and dive plan prior to going, and Huw was great at pointing stuff out. We were given the opportunity to request dive sites which were accommodated. Diving was chilled and we went at our own pace, which was useful when we had EQ issues or wanted to take pictures. Our local guide Piyong was amazing and super friendly, and the boat crew were very helpful. We felt very looked after and dived 3-4 times a day for 5 days. The pricing was super reasonable and much cheaper than other shops but no corners were cut. Fully recommend!
I spent 5 days with Action Divers last week and completed my Advanced Open Water and Enriched Air diving certifications.
Huw is a highly experienced diver and instructor and has in depth knowledge of the local reefs and diving sites, having lived on the island for the past 10+ years.
I was getting back to diving after a gap of almost 20 years and Huw was exactly the kind of instructor I needed - calm, patient, knowledgeable, fluent in English ( Huw is a British expat) and more importantly - one who priorities safety more than anything else.
Action Divers is run by a knowledgeable team of Huw, Piyong, Albert and the support staff, who are always at hand to help out. It may not be the flashiest or the biggest dive shop on the strip, but if you are looking for a highly qualified and experienced instructor (Huw) and well equipped dive shop, Action Divers would come highly recommended by me.
The dive sites are all close by and we did 3 dives each day. The coral reefs are in a good condition.

I had an amazing time diving with Action for 8 days...Huw was a great instructor and Piyong was an absolutely great dive guide, and Jojo & all the boat crew were very hardworking and attentive. I just completed my Advanced Open Water course and several fun dives with Action Divers, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the experience. My instructor, Huw, was absolutely amazing. Not only was he highly attentive to every aspect of the dive, but he also went above and beyond in helping with logistics like transportation to and from the island, accommodation issues, and any other concerns I had.
Huw is a highly experienced instructor who explained everything clearly and ensured each dive was meticulously planned. His focus on safety and adapting to my diving experience made me feel completely at ease underwater. He even arranged a fantastic night dive and was quick to adjust the dive sites according to weather and sea conditions, making sure I had the best experience possible.
Although the weather and visibility weren't ideal during my stay, I still had an incredible time exploring the underwater world and saw so many amazing creatures. While the price for fun dives may not be the cheapest, it's definitely reasonable and well worth it given the exceptional service and the valuable skills I gained.

Haligi Beach has been my fav since I was a kid. The water is clear, the sand is grainy like rice, lots of colorful fish, amazing corals, and lots of beautiful rock formations. Snorkeling is best here.

Great resort in front of of the Coral Garden, but you can’t swim there directly as you would have to cross boat lanes. Food is fine, activities were excellent. We really appreciate the use of speedboats as getting too and from dive and snorkeling areas are fast and convenient. Pretty quiet and serene as long as you’re not with big groups as the resort is isolated in its own island. Some deterioration in the facilities that need maintenance and the bed was uncomfortable, I’ve asked them to remove the bed toppers. But overall an excellent experience with my family.

We were supposed to have a wedding here in Fridays but we had a funeral and had to cancel the date for our wedding. We asked if we could reschedule it but they wouldn't let us reschedule it. They never sent a cancellation policy that was sent to us on our email. The resort photoshopped an attachment of cancellation policy that was not even there in my email and sent it to the bank. They really did us dirty and we cant let other people get scammed by this resort.
Attached photos are the invoices that we never even signed. They dont also wanna do a refund for the rooms that were never used for our guests.
Our coordinator Joey Bool Gutierrez proposed that he would sell the rooms that we paid for, for lower price and we would get some money back from it. We never recieved any, attached are the screenshot message of our designer Joshua Miranda, that he needs the money for the things he made for wedding designs but the fact that our coordinator put his name on the guests that will be paying for the rooms is crazy to us. He needs the money for the things he purchased but could still pay for the room of Fridays resort?
I would suggest thinking of another resort to book than this hotel. The resort refunded 0 money from this event and clearly just took 293, 280.00 pesos and provided 0 service for us. This is a crazy situation and i hope for every people to see this to not book this hotel.

Had a horrible experience with this resort I paid them over $7,000 and my grand mother and god father passed away so I had to cancel the event to reschedule and they never gave me any cancellation policy to myself nor have any email to me stating that once I send payment I am agreeing to any cancellation policy nor did I sign off to any cancellation policy with them.
One of my. Most exciting place I ever visit. At the timr I got here I forgot that I in the Philippines, the ambience is so wonderful and a good Stress reliever. I highly recommend and sure to visit it one more time.

Amazing place to stay for a diving vacation. Really good room / dive packages and very responsive to both WhatsApp and Facebook messenger. Helped me with transport info from Manila as well. The boat crew is lovely and very helpful with changing tanks and getting your gear on, you even get hot towels when you get out of the water and free soup and showers at the shop. Will be back, thank you to everyone 🙏

I once ordered Breakfast and the Sausage was raw inside. Personally, I think it's better to offer a smaller Menu. I saw a lot of half eaten plates going back to the kitchen.
Also we couldn't turn on the TV in our room. We let the Service know about the issue but never received an answer.
The hotel’s location is quite good👌, but my room, Room 6, was on the ground floor next to the kitchen and a public restroom. This meant there was a lot of dirt and grime around the room, and cleaning equipment was placed right in front of my door. In the morning, I woke up to find piles of used towels and bedsheets left outside my room.
The room’s amenities were old and dusty, and the bathroom window was covered in grease from the kitchen’s exhaust vent. Some areas inside the room had exposed water pipes, which caused loud water noises.
Additionally, the room was extremely noisy at night—I am not exaggerating. Party music, people screaming, and cheering went on until 3 AM. I have no idea how this hotel got an 8.1 rating on Agoda.
To be honest, this wasn’t even a proper room—it felt like a converted storage space. Strongly not recommended.
Accommodation: I stayed for 8 nights and had a fantastic experience! The room was excellent — clean bedsheets and linens (which I’m very particular about as someone with mysophobia — I even bring my own bedbug spray). The bathroom was spacious and met my cleanliness standards. I especially appreciated the multiple hanger rods, which were perfect for drying my diving stuff after each day. There was also ample storage space for all my belongings. The housekeeping staff were incredibly friendly — even remembered my name and always checked if I needed any assistance.
Diving: Huge shoutout to the incredible dive team — Kexia, Ruby, and Mark! Kexia and Ruby are experts at spotting the little stuff, making every dive a treasure hunt. Mark brought a fun and calming presence underwater, making each dive feel peaceful and enjoyable.
Important Note: They accept credit card payments with a 5% surcharge and GCash payments with a 3.5% surcharge. However, GCash only works via QR code scanning, which didn’t work for us as foreigners trying to use GCash via the Wise app.
All in all, I truly appreciated every special moment spent here and will definitely be coming back!
You won't find a more characterful and fun place to stay in the Philippines. Happy staff, great drinks, awesome diving.

My wife and I just completed a 10 day holiday at Capn' Greg's. The Philippines was the 19th country we have SCUBA dived in and the 57th country we have visited.
We LOVED the entire stay at Capn' Gregs. Chuck made it very easy. We contacted him for transportation from Manila to the resort. Everything was handled. A very nice van picked us up at our airport hotel and dropped us at the ferry terminal at Batangas. We purchased our ferry tickets to Puerta Galera at the terminal and it was an easy 1 hour ride to Puerta Galera.
The resort is very nice!! Centrally located right on the water in PG and right in the middle of town. The thing we liked the most was the ease of staying at Capn' Gregs. Our room was on the 3rd floor. The restaurant was on the 2nd floor. And the dive shop was on the 1st floor. It could not be any easier!!
The rooms: They are basic but very clean and well maintained. The room we stayed in had a small balcony and was ocean facing. This isn't a luxury room. But the bed was comfortable, the air conditioning was cold, and the shower was hot!!! We don't need more than that on a dive trip.
The meals: The restaurant at Capn' Gregs is excellent!!!! Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all served there and each meal offered lots of choices. The quality and service were top notch! The prices and value were excellent as well!
The dive operation: Was the best! All the equipment was new and well maintained. The shop was clean and organized. The operations were were well run and there was 100% emphasis on safety and communication. Each dive was briefed in detail. Every tank of Nitrox was measured. And question or concern we had was answered. We had Ruby, Keizha, and Jay all took turns guiding. All of them were exceptional.
Make sure you sign up for a day at Verde Island!!! It is worth it
All in all we loved Capn Gregs for its ease and convenience. The value was excellent. The experience was fantastic as well. We would 100% return and hope we have the opportunity to do it.

I stayed in Puerto Galera a few days to join the Puerto Galera hash and dive. Chuck, the owner, and Leidy, the manager were fantastic and welcoming. The food was good and well priced. Especially, the nightly grill and side dishes.
On the diving side Jay was an excellent knowledgeable head guide? and Kexia, Ruby, and Rommel were all incredibly friendly, talented, knowledgeable, and safe divers. I'd highly recommend going here for diving in Puerto Galera.

Located at Sabang beach. Quite far from White beach which was a 15-20min tuktuk ride. Hotel was okay for the price. Food was pricey (not Filipino friendly). Food were priced to cater foreigners more than locals. Plus points for the staff who were very friendly and approachable.

The hotel staff is nice and accomodating they are just not courteous as what other hotel staffs are . We stayed here two times . in this area a lot of bar (red light district) but luckily we can not hear any noise. the bed is okay . they have cold and hot water as well
The wifi connection was only available on the reception area. We ask the receptionist why the wifi connection on our room was not working and the only answer we got was "baka sira".. no emphathy, no apologies or no sorries.. we wanted to use the swimming pool since we had a todler that wanted to swim on it but we're not able to maximize it. They were cleaning it almost all the time we stayed in the resort. TV in our room was not working even after informing the receptionist for a couple of times. Staffs are only courteous to foreigners. The common CR was very stinky. Food is very expensive. I do not recommend this resort and we will never go back here again. When we asked the receptionist how to go to the white beach, she just recommended their in-house trike driver which offered us PHP600 and said that they just have the same price range outside.
Positive points: our resorts room was very nice. The hot and cold water was working. The cleaners does clean our room daily.
The resort was nice and the staff friendly. It's right in the beach (but most resorts are there) and close to everything. Their inhouse tour arrangements are over priced so if you want a tour find someone on the street.
Only problem was hot water, there was none at night or in the morning and it was warm at best during the day. I think they use solar water heat which would not be able to heat water at night.
Nice hotel with new renovation, my booking is sea view deluxe room which come with big French Windows and balcony, I am really enjoy full during my stay.
Also the place is convenient for food and night life, the only problem is the beach is a bit dirty because of overload of travelers.
Stayed in their deluxe room and it was good. Located in Sabang. They have restaurant and a bar and open until 10pm. Swimming pool is also available but not that big. Swimming is from 8am to 8pm. I hope they will extend their swimming time until 10pm. Wifi is also available in their rooms and in bar. Staffs are accommodating.

El Galleon, a beachfront hotel, boasts two bars, an open-air restaurant, and a dive center. Situated near Sabang beach or a 20-minute drive from Balatero port, the hotel prioritizes guest comfort and dining satisfaction. While some found the beds firm, this may not be ideal for older individuals. Nonetheless, the staff provided excellent service and were attentive to guests' needs.
This is the BEST place to stay in Puerto Galera. The staff, the food, the service are all top tier. They will make your stay feel like paradise and if you plan on Diving they are the folks to go with. They'll take you to see the best spots and make you feel comfortable doing so. I would 100% recommend to all interested in visiting Puerto Galera.

Was here for 4 days, super nice place. Accommodation is great, dive sites are easy accessible and a short voyage usually ( minutes ) with the speedboat from the resort. Chill and kind dive masters / staff. Restaurant is good, excellent food. Service is a bit slow but compensated by the taste and the nice ladies serving the food. Will be back here for sure, would summarize with: easy going, comfortable and friendly.
We spent 7D6N at El Galleon in November 2024, and it was such a great trip!
The Resort:
We stayed in a Seaview Room, which was a bit of a climb to get to, but the view was absolutely worth it. Waking up to the ocean every morning was amazing. The restaurant served really tasty food with big portions, and the staff were super friendly and welcoming.
The Dive Shop:
Asia Divers is fantastic. Having their own private pier made everything so easy, and the facilities are excellent. The staff were all super helpful, and we felt really well taken care of. A special shout-out to our dive guide, Bunny, who was amazing! He pointed out all kinds of cool marine life and made sure everyone in the group was comfortable and safe.
We noticed a lot of the guests were repeat visitors with tons of diving experience, and it’s easy to see why they keep coming back. Great diving, great people, and a really relaxed vibe.
We’re already looking forward to our next trip here!
Just some small things to note/ improve:
- Would be great to replace the complimentary in room plastic water bottles with refillable glass bottles.
- Mini fridge is quite noisy.
- Restaurant can be slow so make sure to buffer in the waiting time for food.
EL GALLEON RESTAURANT REVIEW
We came to eat here (we did not stay at the resort) and came back every day at least once during our visit in PG. Excellent variety for all meals of the day, including European style breakfasts. The fruits were fresh, juices were great, as was their pesto pasta (vegetarian), onion soup (vegan), and a local dish called angel chicken. Excellent service and lovely atmosphere!
Great service and personalized approach to serving food, checking in and scuba diving. Very reliable staff. Great dive guides and boat crew. Clean and homey. Good food. It is quite on the pricey side for Pinoys but I guess this is ok for non Filipinos given the quality of service. I am definitely going back!
El Galeon in Puerto Galera is a great spot for a delicious meal with a solid wine selection. The food is top-notch, from fresh seafood to tasty international dishes. Service can be a bit hit-or-miss, but the friendly vibe and beautiful setting make up for it. Definitely worth a visit!
It's a short walk down the paved beach path where tuktuks drop you off in Sabang. The rooms are not great, but you're just sleeping there anyways. The restaurant on site is very good and you pay a premium for the convenience. The staff is incredibly attentive at El galleon and Asia divers, somehow they all know your name and are a pleasure to dine and dive with. So far in the dive sites in Puerto Galera are the best I've seen and Asiadivers guides are some of the best on the island to dive with. Would definitely recommend staying and diving here if you're okay with spending a little more for the convenience and quality.
Just got done with a week plus stay with El Galleon Dive resort and I have to say, I don't know if another dive trip will be better than this one.
The staff was very friendly. Answering all questions referring to us by name. The meals were delicious and very reasonable. The accommodations were perfect for a dive resort.
The diving though, top notch. Could not be better. Pete, Rose, Reuben, Randy, all of the staff gave thorough briefs of the dives and what to expect, what we might see, and any concerns the divers brought up.
The support staff was helpful and attentive. Bottles were handled, boats were available, gear was ready for you.
The dive sites were amazing and varied. Drift dives, coral reef dives, muck dives, all were beautiful.
Can't recommend enough and cannot wait to get back.

We stayed four nights at Edgewater. We enjoyed it a lot, it's a small hotel on a very beautiful bay. First, the rooms are nice and clean, with a very comfy bed and a nice shower. Then, you can go diving on different times of the day, for example at 9 or 10 or also in the afternoon. They are very flexible and the dive masters are very nice, christian the boat driver is the best, very funny guys. The dive sites are very close by. The best thing of the hotel is the owner and his staff. They treat you like friends. We liked everything and would recommend to anyone who wants to visit sabang. Thanks for everything

Had a wonderful stay at Edgewater this long weekend. After a short sea taxi ride we were greeted by their friendly and helpful staff. We loved our room, soft beds and a great view. We stayed in the newly constructed Garden view house which was very comfortable. So close to amazing dive sites. You are in great hands with their dive master Marlon. After diving it was great to unwind with a swim in the pool and relax by the seaside terrace with a nice drink. Food is great too, good variety of western and Filipino food. Can’t say enough about how much we love this place ! Will definitely be coming back for more good times and great company!
Would give it a better rating if I could. Absolutely amazing place to stay. The customer service was out of this world and they make sure you are having a great experience at all times. From the staff at the hotel who help you with everything all the way to the amazing diving instructor and captain. 10/10 recommend this place. Strongly recommend this dive resort in PG! It’s one of those rare places where you can actually choose your dive sites. Except for the Verde islands (which require a minimum number of divers—unless you don’t mind chartering the boat yourself 😄), the dive guide （Thank you Martin)literally says, “Wherever you want to go, we’ll go!” 😂 Couldn’t be happier!
The client service experience was amazing right from the reservation. Izzie communicated with us, provided us with helpful information and organized our transportation from the port of Batangas to EdgeWater. On the day of our arrival, one of us had to stay behind. EW team went above and beyond their tasks for her to be able to join us. They went as far as booking a transportation from Manila to Batangas.
On site, every single staff member are making sure that the clients are satisfied. They accommodate request at the restaurant, they add a personalized touch to the service, etc.
During a lunch, someone at another table was smoking. The staff approched the person in a professional and sensitive way and made them aware that others were eating.
Melanie and Jeff are running the tables and know the names of every customers. They even remembered us from a previous stay. The menu provides multiple options and the food was enjoyable.
The rooms are comfortable, clean and cozy. The AC works very well.
Mariane’s help was so appreciated to organized our diving tour.
Marlon is a great dive master and dedicated to provide the best experience to the clients.
One could argue that the downsides would be the internet connexion that is unstable and how far the resort is far from other sites. However, it is a perfect location for a retreat and actually disconnect from everything else.
This was our second stay at Edgewater and it was just as enjoyable as the first time around a few years ago. The staff are all so friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Including coffee to your room at 5.30am when your kid won't sleep! It's a small, boutique resort with a beautiful setting in a quiet bay surrounded by forest and mangroves. It's fabulous and by far the best of the hotel options in the area. Highly recommended.
5 star service across the board. Location is perfect, dive centre is exceptional and the staff go out of their way to provide the best experience for guests. I decided to get my dive licences here for the open water and advanced and managed to get it all done in just 4 days. Couldn't recommend this place enough. In my search for peace and quiet on my latest adventure through Puerto Galera, I stumbled upon Edgewater Resort, a relatively new gem tucked away in a serene mangrove cove. Though it feels wonderfully remote, all the main spots are just five minutes away, making it the perfect balance of seclusion and convenience.
Staying here is like being welcomed into a home, owned by a compassionate Canadian, Richard, and his gracious Russian wife, Victoria. Their warmth and hospitality set the tone for an unforgettable experience.
The friendly staff, pristine sheets, and amenities elevate the resort far beyond the usual offerings in Puerto Galera.
If I had to describe it in one phrase, it would be subtle elegance.
Privacy here is unmatched—no noisy neighbors, just 280 degrees of untouched nature. You can witness both the sunrise and sunset from this breathtaking vantage point, making it an idyllic escape.
Beyond the stunning views, the resort doesn’t fall short in comfort. The food is excellent and generous and the front desk team is wonderfully accommodating.
Even if you’re not a diver, there’s so much to appreciate—from the strong Wi-Fi to a flat-screen TV with Cignal cable access in your room. And then there’s the spa area by the water—an absolute highlight. Schedule your treatment just after sunset, and you’ll experience pure magic.
I truly can’t say enough good things about this place. Edgewater Resort goes above and beyond to make you feel at home and special. Without a doubt, I’ll be back.

i was able to climb mt. halcon for the second time. we were not given a good weather but we went home with lots of new experience. i will definitely be back! i love mt. halcon!
A beautiful mountain to be with especially at the summit. Though we haven't witness a long time of clearing, we still have few shots where we could still see the surroundings.
Just be careful with the "limatiks" or leeches.

Beautiful beach in front while enjoying your meal. Good vibes.. when we went to this beach it wasn’t crowded so that’s a good thing..
Our tour guide also call this place Virgin Beach. Not because it is unexploited but because of the statue of Virgin Mary. The area is more peaceful than the other beach counterparts like the White Beach. There is a PHP10 entrance fee.
It's a private beach along with a restaurant. The restaurant charges you around 30 php in order to enter the beach. It's full of pebbles instead of sand. They have a prop in the sea like they show in takeshi's castle which you can try free of cost after entering into beach. There is no time limitation for your stay. They give you life jackets as well.

Beautiful Aplayang Munti Beach area with heaps to do for the kids. Nice place to sit and relax with the family while the kids play on the water slides. There is a Restaurant being built and nice Jet Skis to ride.
The beach is pebbles with lots of shade and a cool breeze. Throughly enjoyed my time there.

Aplayang Munti the beach is clean with small pebbles and coconut shade trees. A nice sea water for swimming, bathing and snorkelling around. A water park for fun.
There are some picnic shacks and new mini resort servicing tourists. A great place to bring the family and groups for a day out, right along the highway is easy access.

Cozy, relaxing, simply the best bar in Sabang. You can see the best of Sabang on land and water because of its stunning views.
And you do not need to wear a swimsuit to go here, although I did wear it underneath just in case.
Very fun way to spend an afternoon! Mindoro sling cocktail was very tasty, as was the Pork Bahn Min and chips! You're also able to jump off the roof into the water.

I do not recommend this hotel for light sleepers or anyone sensitive to their sleeping environment.
1. The air conditioning is very old and noisy, with poor cooling performance. It takes a long time to cool down the room. In the duplex room, the first floor is just bearable, but the second floor is extremely hot.
2. There is no elevator, and you have to carry your luggage up several flights of stairs to reach the room.
3. The swimming pool is also quite small and underwhelming.
From checking to check out, my stay at Jack Daniel Apartments was excellent. Joy in the office was very accommodating and friendly, making sure everything was perfect. My room was cozy and spotless. The food from the restaurant was so delicious that I didn't even need to look for other places to eat. The bar has great vibe and tasty drinks. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Puerto Galera.

Awesome restaurant right on the beach. The beach is all sand and it's kept very clean. The ocean there is great for children, and the kids can walk out pretty far. The food is really good and the service is even better. We really enjoyed the pizzas. There were no vendors there bothering us, which was great. If you don’t like food and/or life in general by all means flush your money and potentially gastrointestinal health down the drain of this animal-rescue-shelter-cum-restaurant. First, the ambiance: beautiful beach view but the seating area is overrun by malnourished cats and mangy dogs. Risk of canine contagion. Second, the service. Friendly but exceptionally incompetent. The food took an hour+ though there was only one other party in the restaurant when we placed our order. The waiter and/or kitchen staff forgot one of our salads. The calamansi juice I ordered came out AFTER the main courses and was disappeared from the table by our waiter before I drank one sip of it. Now: the, ahem, “food”. It appears the restaurant’s primary aim is to save on their pet food budget by having patrons feed what they order to the resident animal population as it’s mostly unfit for human consumption. I had to send the fried calamari back to the kitchen as it tasted like week-old fish. Their specialty, tuna salad, was highlighted by yellow-green unripe tomatoes and canned tuna. The pizza was, in fact, edible and greatly enhanced by the specially ordered addition of tomato sauce. Conclusion: dine here at your own risk! :)
Pizza and pasta were really good. Portions are huge. More than enough for a meal. The view is excellent. We were there just for the restaurant and the beach and not the lodge.

Outstanding! We ate here about 10 times on our dive trip. The food is some of the best I've had in the Philippines. Every dish we tried was fresh,hot, and delicious. They make their own bread, pasta, and pizza. The traditional Filipino food was excellent as was the variety of international foods, meats and seafood. Don't miss Happy Hour 430-7pm 170php drinks. We had one issue with one of our drinks and it was immediately resolved. The manager also came over to apologize and take off the bill. The service is excellent! If you come to Puerto Galera you won't regret eating here.

We stayed for a week with Out of Blue resort and ate several times at The Verandah. Never had a bad service. The food was really good that even picky teenagers would try it out and enjoy it. We loved this restaurant. It has 2 tables with the ocean view. The restaurant is tucked in a bit upstairs where the Out of Blue resort reception is. It felt very reasonable in price compared with all the other restaurant options in Puerta Galera (and we tried many). It takes cash and credit cards. Highly recommend.

Relaxed, friendly and helpful staff plus nice food. Despite going out with the intention of trying out other places for food we ended up dining in on several nights. We especially liked the fresh salad and more traditional type pizza , much better than the overly sweet and doughy variety commonly found.
Had an ok breakfast here. The lady was quite nice and polite. The location is at the end of sabang road and up about 60 steps so not easy to get to so it was empty the first time I went and I was very disappointed to find that when I returned at 730pm on a Saturday night all the lights were off and noone was there despite claiming to be open daily until 9pm
EDIT: to the owner - yes that's the exact place i visited. The place in the photos. It's at Out of the Blue and it's not "on the beach" it's up about 60 steps up, above the swimming pool. The sign for the restaurant is right there at the bottom, on the beach.
When I was there you had one woman serving and one man who she had to call into the kitchen to cook. I had eggs, bacon and toast - check your receipts. I think a cup of tea with it.
I told her i would probably return for dinner and when i did you were closed. There is no reason for me to lie. I don't appreciate you making out that my review is false.
I only tried the coffee here, but the ambience is incredibly peaceful. If I were to go on a date, Verandah would definitely be my top choice

Verde Island Passages is a stunning channel where lucky visitors may catch a glimpse of dolphins. It's also a popular area for yacht racing, hosting two of the Philippines' largest regattas: the PGYC All Souls Regatta and the PYGC Easter Regatta. The ferry ride through this area offers breathtaking views of beautiful scenery, making it feel like paradise.
Youll be lucky if dolphins will pass by in the channel, i got the amazing peek of them last May 2, 2018 while underway to Port of batangas from Puerto Galera

Great area for yacht racing two of the philippine largest regattas are held racing in the passage PGYC ALL SOULS REGATTA and PYGC EASTER REGATTA.
THE MAP AND SOME PICTURES ARE WRONG. THEY ARE NOT VERDE ISLAND PASSAGE. THEY DEPICTING MUELLE BAY, PUERTO GALERA!
Mid part to Puerto Galera. It gets wavy here. Expect rough rides afternoon to before sunset. Yup, this part gets a review too.

The Aninuan Waterfall offers a relatively easy hike on a well-marked trail, leading to a picturesque waterfall. The trail involves crossing the stream several times and walking on large rocks. It takes around 30 minutes to reach the waterfall. While the waterfall itself may not be extremely impressive, the pool at its foot provides a pleasant spot for swimming. There is an entrance fee of 50PHP per person, collected by a staff member at the entrance.
Nice hike and waterfall. The cool pool felt nice after I got used to it. Nice area to sit and relax also. Falls and the river were very full after all the rain.
Wear shoes that can get wet or dry fast.

It was a bit confusing to find this place at first because there were no clear signs. I am not sure if there is another easier path, but we got there by driving up, parking our bike, and then walking through a small path. You can ask around because the people living nearby know where it is and are usually helpful.
The walk going down took about 30 minutes. It felt a little scary because the path is steep and very quiet. At one point, we asked a local woman if we were going the right way, but she did not answer. We later figured out she wanted us to pay her to be our guide, but we decided not to. I do wish she helped us anyway, but it was okay. There were still other nice locals who were willing to help.
When we got to the falls, there was a 50 peso entrance fee. We did not pay because we were not planning to swim or get wet. Honestly, the falls were the most underwhelming I have seen so far, but I really enjoyed the journey getting there.
There were times on the trail where we did not see anyone, and that made it feel a bit scary. But if you enjoy nature and a little bit of adventure, the trek is fun. I was also surprised to see some locals who were able to bring their motorcycles all the way down. They must be really used to the road.
The way back up took us almost an hour since we had to stop a few times. It was a good workout. If you plan to go, I suggest doing it during the day because it can get really scary if it gets dark.
I would say that the falls were not the highlight, but the walk and the hiking.
The waterfalls are not impressive, but a nice rest on a hike of 2.5 to 3 hours. Entry point is at Calapan N Road. Look at that road on the map: at the most south-western part of White Beach it has a diagonal part, from northwest to southeast. In that southeastern bend there is a path leading south. This is the entry to a loop around the valley, also including the Aninuan Waterfall. Enjoy a lovely hike!
Btw, the first half is quite easy going, but for the second I recommend at least sneakers, it is quite full of rocks, sometimes wet and slippery.
We re staying in Bahay Luntian, from where you have direct access to the trail leading beside aninuan river to the falls. Distance around 2km.
Path is basically easy but you have to cross the river several times. We took our hiking boots but bringing additional flip-flops would have saved us time ^^

We started our hike from Aninuan village and proceeded up the river course through beautiful forest terrain. The trail crosses the river numerous times with boulder hopping in places, topping out at the falls. The swim in the cool mountain pool at the base of the falls is glorious! Had lunch there and returned to While Beach on the jeep track loop. Easy walking track through forest with exceptional views of the ocean out to the west.
Fairly easy hike/walk along a pretty well marked trail to the waterfall. The trail crosses the stream/river a few times and requires walking on some large rocks . Takes about 30min. The pool at the foot of the waterfall is nice for swimming although the waterfall itself is not super impressive.
50PHP / person entrance fee that a guy at the entrance of the waterfall will collect.
Worth combining this with another mini hike (Talipanan waterfall is nearby) or visit to the beach.
Note that access is via Aninuan town - NOT how Google maps directs it. To get there, take the side road next to KKG Resort in Aninuan town. Follow this road all the way to its end. The trail begins there through a coconut grove.
People are friendly and will direct you if you ask.
the hike up is by far the best part. Waterfalls are beautiful and a nice place to calm yourself.

Amazing experience, after the pandemic, it was so green again according to the Mangyan guide, very steep when we went up, because it was raining in the morning, Leeches everywhere so make sure you protect your self, beautiful view on the first site(hill) we we're lucky it became sunny and cloudy the whole time. No view on the top tho, but it was a great adventure, you really need to be fit to climb with no trouble, i got cramps, but still manage to rrach the top. As a 45 years old and weighs more than 60 kg, i am so proud of my self reaching the top, so I guess , most can do it too♥️

Beautiful pictures but this pin is not on top of mount Malasimbo
I know it's not because I went there and there is no trail, only bush.

Lush trail indeed! Bring Mangyan guides with bolo's to clear the trail. Steep slippery sections lead to grassy fields and then very steep sections to the top. Only one water pool available after the grass fields. On the way up there are excellent views far to the west, to White Beach and to Sabang. However, there are no views at the forested summit. Many limatik. We walked 4 hours to the top and 3 hours back down. There is a campsite in the grass halfway up if you want to make it multi-day. The route goes through a Mangyan village at the start but is very remote in the second half. You probably will see no one else. I recommend the trip only on a clear, dry day so the views are good and the trails not slippery. PeakVisor puts the elevation at 1205m. I enjoyed this strenuous hike and its views over Puerto Galera.
Limatik infested. No summit view but reaching the summit is worth it.
