Grosvenor Shopping Centre

Shopping mall
Grosvenor Shopping Northampton is a bustling shopping center in the heart of Northampton, offering a diverse mix of high-street and independent shops, department stores, and dining options. Visitors can explore the architecture while strolling through the center and enjoy browsing through various shops. Additionally, there are several coffee shops for a relaxing break during shopping. The nearby market square hosts a morning market with fresh produce, adding to the vibrant atmosphere.
I have been coming here since I was very young and still have to commute into the bus station at least once every week, so I sometimes pop into the Grosvenor for lunch and sometimes a bit of shopping. I like that there are many different stores close together including cafes like Costa and Starbucks, places to shop like NEXT and Primark, and other stores like LUSH and the Entertainer. There’s also a Tesco express nearby which I use quite a lot to grab my lunch from and sometimes pop in to grab a few bits that we need for dinner on my way back home. I do wish they maybe put in some more stores like possibly a Sephora and maybe also a M&S.

The Grosvenor Centre Multi-Storey Car Park in Northampton is generally a quiet area, especially on the upper levels.I noticed that on the second floor, the cash payment machine is still available, which is helpful for those who prefer to pay with cash.
SHINTU S — Google review
I can't call a shopping Mall because has office hours from 9-5 for most shops. The best name is Office Grosvenor. Doors 🚪 are opening push-pull, and toilets 🚽 have a very awful smell. Car Park has very narrow bays. I can rate this office 2 out of 10 .
Fl C — Google review
A well laid out shopping centre with plenty of choice within the stores and what is on offer. There are eating destinations scattered among the stores. You will find high street names amingst the independent shops namely Primark, H&M, Poundland, HMV, JD Sports etc.
Shuyel B — Google review
i went to the costa im the grovsner centre today. 5 minutes before closing. in understand it may be irritating to receive customers before closing but should still be served. a woman shouted at me to make my descision quicker and then when i asked for a straw she was extremely rude. as a young girl i was extremely polite which i acknowledge isn’t always the case in young customers however the attitude i was met with was shocking and rude. her male colleague was lovley and understanding but the woman was extremely rude and disrespectful i will not be returning
Ella M — Google review
A slightly dull looking and lacking ambience this shopping centre is without charm. There’s parking charge at the multi-storey car park, and the facilities are just ok.
Mas H — Google review
Ample prking at Grosvenor parking plaza. But you can park in the council parking in front of Argos for 2 hours and walk to grosvenor if fancy a walk through market square.
Imran Q — Google review
Not too much to see,🙄 I didn't find a shop to buy something like clothes. They need to open an Primark or tkmax, sport direct.... If not people will just get out.

If you're on the hunt for a laid-back dining experience that celebrates all things BBQ, look no further than The Smoke Pit. This cozy eatery features comfortable sofas and high stools, creating an inviting atmosphere perfect for enjoying their mouthwatering offerings. With highlights like 15-hour pulled pork and 10-hour ox cheek, meat lovers will be in heaven here. While there are a few vegetarian options available, the star of the show is undoubtedly the array of chargrilled meats.
I love this place. The beef ribs are amazing. Huge portions. The brisket and tater tots are the best. The cocktails are really pretty and taste fabulous. I will always come back.
Soph M — Google review
Friendly staff from arrival. Food and drinks were nice. I had the 'rubber duckie' cocktail, without the duck (unlike I had seen in other reviews that had one). Decor is different but fits with the theme. Good choice in food and drinks. The menu can be a little confusing to read with the text and price not separated. Would return again to try something else on the menu too.
Chloe H — Google review
The ribs and wings had great flavours but were very chewy, quite disappointing. I went to Mission Chicken recently, their sister restaurant and the food there was incredible so it’s surprising the ribs and wings at the smoke pit weren’t up to par.
Nathon K — Google review
Decent food, rude staff. When we arrived we were ignored for 10 minutes whilst the man who works on the front desk was having a catch up with a friend. When his friend left to continue with his day, the man coldy walked us to our table and the experience got no better from that. We have been a few times as the food is decent, however due to the customer service from this same man on front desk, we won't be returning or recommending, which is a shame.
S S — Google review
Nice to see a restaurant so busy. We didn’t have a booking but they managed to fit us in. Good service and lovely food. I’ve never had so many flavours in a hot dog dish before. Fab fries too.
Shirley C — Google review
The best smoked BBQ I've had in Europe, and top 5 from US. Place is super chill, they play old school hip hop, very good staff that treat BBQ like a Michilean × .
Ricky W — Google review
My partner and I have only heard brilliant things about this very unique and quirky restaurant, And we were not let down in the slightest! Our date night was such a fun and memorable night, Which was most definitely because of the food and atmosphere, definitely returning for one of our next date nights. AND BEST FRIES IN THE UK! Which go with any of the drinks to choose from, BUT definitely mix and match with the cocktails, everything just works together,. And, all the staff are wonderful, happy and smiles all round which makes the whole restaurant experience absolutely wonderful
Libby M — Google review
The food was absolutely delicious, cooked perfectly, flavourful and fresh, desserts were also amazing, didn't have that mass produced corporate feel like the chained restaurants do. One tiny observation is that although the decor, fixtures and fittings have that rustic spray painted, industrial vibe (which is cool) in the stark light of day it felt like it needed a good spruce up, slightly tired and a bit of a grubby feel with the tables and chairs (just my personal opinion) Highly recommended though.

Northampton Market

(1304)
Market
The Northampton Market is one of the oldest markets in the UK and it takes place every Tuesday to Sunday. It has a wide variety of stalls selling a variety of goods, like fruits and vegetables, meat, eggs and cheese, or freshly made food.
Amongst the food stalls there is mobile kitchen Ingon Thai Kitchen who cook the food while you wait. They are open Tue to Sat 11am-5pm. Great to see. Food is tasty and made as spicy as desired.
Chris C — Google review
I had not visited the town for many years and was shocked to see the market square having been swept cleat of all original features. It feels soulless and empty. Quite a few street drinkers around the area.
Guy M — Google review
Nice place to shop for fruits.and vegetables. It's very economical and of good quality. Also they have shops for kid toys, clothes and mobile accessories. It's a treat to our eyes going there weekly once.
Aravind S — Google review
There is only one stool worth visiting in Northampton Market. Forget the fruit and veg stools with their raft of cheap foreign goods. Head to the stool with the seasonal British produce, you’ll know when you see it. However, be warned, they only take cash:(
David C — Google review
Why not try Kettering Market? right in the town centre great footfall, only a few Traders so Desperately need Fruit and Veg, and others. Only £12 a stall (provided with table).
Maureen M — Google review
It's great to see the market play host to great events like the Northampton Pride Festival, the Northampton Music Festival and the Dino Day earlier this year. As well as the events it's a great market with some lovely local traders, and great local shops and cafes around the edge. A true heart of the community in Northampton.
Martin S — Google review
It has shrunk a lot of the years, which is a real shame. Now it's a good place to buy fruit and vegetables, but not much more.

Becket's Park, situated along the banks of the River Nene in Northampton, is a serene and traditional park offering a green escape from the urban landscape. Originally known as Cow Meadow, it was renamed in honor of Thomas Becket. The park features grassy areas, walking paths, a children's play area, sports facilities, and ample space for picnics. It provides a tranquil oasis for relaxation and leisure activities. Visitors can also enjoy a casual cafe within the park grounds.
A lovely park with a fab cafe in the middle - we did the university of Northampton parkrun - which was a fab 5k run starting at the university campus and 3 laps of the park - nice to wander along the canal and up to the lock as well definitely worth a visit - great bacon roll at the cafe too 🏃🏻☕️🍰😊😊
Tony S — Google review
It’s beautiful, quiet, and serene. I love the park and the pond beside it. You can feed swans and walk around
Osagioduwa A — Google review
I like Beckets Park. It's vast expanse of greenery in the middle of Northampton that is like an oasis of calm and tranquility. There are tennis courts available, but you have to book these on line. With all the trees and greenery, there are surprisingly few benches to sit on - quiet disappointing given the size of the park. The squirrels are surprising friendly and forward. One posed for a picture! The River Nene skirts the edge of the park, and ducks and swans can also be seen. If there was more provision for seating, this park would get a 5 star rating.
Lee W — Google review
A centrally situated public park. There is plenty of open green-spaces suitable for undertaking gentle walks through. Periodically throughout the year there are festivals hosted within the park grounds.
Shuyel B — Google review
I would abstain from walking through here in the dark. I passed through here at half 1 on the morning and now I walk like John Wayne without his horse 🐎. I do know that the benches are very sturdy and can take atleast 28 stone of vigorous action.
Phil ( — Google review
Great green open space in the middle of chaotic Northampton. Great to walk the dogs and enjoy views of the canal and extensive intricate bridges. The children's play area is enclosed and has an array of play apparatus to keep the young ones amused for an eternity. Sadly no public toilets. Seating is sparce there a few benches dotted around but the open green areas are vast so make sure you bring your picnic rugs and additional food for the squirrels as they'll be eating out of hand.
Harpal P — Google review
A place we go for evening strolls, play area for my daughter, one off jogging, or a chilled summer afternoon at the cafe in the park. Sometimes we carry peanuts to feed squirrels.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Northampton, Royal & Derngate stands as a premier performing arts center that boasts two distinct theatres: the historic Royal Theatre and the modern Derngate Theatre. This cultural gem is celebrated for its eclectic lineup of performances, ranging from gripping dramas to lively musicals and captivating concerts. With roots tracing back to the 19th century, it has become a cornerstone of regional entertainment, drawing audiences eager for creativity and inspiration.
An amazing experience at Royal & Derngate with my wife celebrating our two year wedding anniversary. A Bat Out Of Hell is a must 'go and see' show. All of the classics and a lot more. If you like sex, drums and rock and roll, this is the show to see! Usually I would only commend the lead vocal, but everyone was truly amazing. Well done to you all! Thank you for an enjoyable matinee.

We went for a comedy show that I surprised my partner on valentines day. I loved the atmosphere, very friendly and supportive staff. The arena was absolutely full, people were laughing mostly... some people were a bit shocked by the amount of extreme language and black humour... It was extremely difficult to find parking and to come our at the end, we waited more time to come out of the parking then the actual show time.

This is a wonderful theatre. Great service provided by the staff and always a great atmosphere here. Parking nearby is very convenient and the acoustics within the theatre is perfect. Watched Roachford and Level 42 on their UK tour. A great night out made special by the venue itself.

Northampton is privileged to have a great theatre. I had the best experienced while attending a recent show called Jamaica Love. A wonderful, educational and funny production, the whole communit enjoyed. It was easy to access, the seats were comfortable, the sound was great for such a big modern theatre, no echo's or sounding distant. Well worth a visit. Thanks for putting on a great show!
Diane C — Google review
Great venue with amazing front of house. Northampton is lucky to have such a venue with multiple spaces and uses. Top class programme of theatre music etc bringing people into the town. Close to carparks.
Helen C — Google review
We love the Royal and Derngate theatre. Always original and full of variety. Stalls seats generally best, but avoid front left or right stalls if you are going to see a rock band - you might be deaf for a couple of days! Upper circle (front) are super seats with a panoramic view of the stage.
Adrian C — Google review
Nice theatre. Staff are friendly. Bat out of Hell is amazing. The cast are incredible 🤘
James M — Google review
This theatre is looking very tired. The seats are in a very poor state of repair with exposed foam on the seats and about 50% sporting poorly sewn patches. Also the seating is not offset or raked sufficiently, I was unfortunately seated behind a large man who completely obscured the centre of the stage.

After a little shopping trip in the morning; we went looking for somewhere to eat. We eventually found this place and had a Quick Look at the menu before going in. It wasn’t too busy; and had a really nice atmosphere. We both Ordered the Breakfast with a side of white toast which was really good; only thing for me was I wish the toast was warmer to spread butter on easier. Service was really good also; from sitting down to leaving. We was seen to in a timely manner; and food arrived not long after that. My only small gripe was the selection on soft fizzy drinks. I personally don’t drink coke; so I went with the “Victorian Lemonade” which was more sour than refreshing. Paid £25 for two meals and two drinks. Portion size felt a bit small at first but for the quality products you receive it’s definitely worth it. Will visit again when I’m next in Northampton.
Ryan L — Google review
Been coming here for years but the last visit was unfortunately the last. Unaware food finished at 2pm but arrived just before food had stopped, ordered two jacket potatoes and two sausage bagels for the kids. Jackets were quite small with a bit of side salad and chicken mayo filling, but okay, tasted fine but nothing amazing and bagels were standard for the kids. Ordered four soft drinks to go with it and was a bit surprised the bill was nearly £60 . The prices were never that expensive and portion sizes very much reduced. Customer were entering just after 2pm and told no more food, I think you might need their custom with those prices. On the positive, the serving staff were lovely .
Donna B — Google review
Very nice and cozy place. Staff super nice and friendly. Very inviting atmosphere. Coffee was quite nice. Food was little bit underwhelming in presentation, taste was just ok. Definitely could hear microwave after order so it says a lot about preparation process. Overall can recommend. Would come again for nice cup of coffee.

Fabulous little independent café along the best street in Northampton. Very friendly, quick and professional service. Amazing fry up and lattes. The hunters jacket potato is also excellent. Lovely homemade cake selections. Modern decor. We will definitely be back, I love to support local shops/cafés - especially when they do things right. Highly recommended 👌

Burger King is a popular fast-food destination known for its delicious grilled burgers, crispy fries, and delightful shakes. During my visit, I noticed that even during quieter times, the wait was minimal—an indication of their commitment to cooking from scratch! The meals were beautifully prepared and generously accompanied by a variety of sauces, which is always a plus in my book. The staff at Burger King truly made the experience memorable; they were friendly and attentive, ensuring that our food arrived hot and fresh.
The staff hardly speak English! I couldn't understand what the staff member was saying and accidentally ordered onion rings instead of cheese bites. Purely because I was fed up of asking him what he said I just ended up saying "onion" because that's the only word he said that I could understand. There was also a left over tray of food and used napkins on a table near me. Not only are the staff ignorant but the customers too. Definitely not recommended.
AzumiRM — Google review
I went to the Burger King on Market Square in Northampton and honestly, the food was a letdown. I got a Steakhouse Angus meal with fries and a bottle of water and added a Spicy Chicken Royale on its own. The Chicken Royale cost a ridiculous £8.29 on its own – which is mad considering it didn’t even taste good. The Angus burger was decent, but the meal still came to £12.79 and the fries were as bland and tasteless as ever. I asked if they had mayo instead of ketchup, just to balance out the spicy sandwich, and they said it would cost 30p – for a tiny bit of sauce. I said no out of principle. Overall, the food was overpriced, underwhelming, and absolutely not worth the money. Now I know why the place is always plenty.

BEWARE THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS NOT CHILD FRIENDLY. Went in with a freshly toilet trained 3year old, my husband went to the desk to order whilst I who had run down the street carrying said 3 year old because she badly needed the toilet, tried to enter the toilet. There's a code box, the cashier wouldn't give me the code for the toilet (with a hopping toddler asking why she couldn't use the toilet) until my husband had paid for the order. PRIORITISING MONEY WHICH WAS OBVIOUS YOU WERE GETTING ANYWAY OVER A 3 YEAR OLDS NEED TO USE THE TOILET IS DISGUSTING AND TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Needless to say we refunded our order and ate elsewhere. BEWARE THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS NOT CHILD FRIENDLY

Ordered a 5.99 meal and got charged extra. Never ever will visit burger crap again. Management don't explain or can help the issue . Charge the customer its not nice I don't care about sugar if the meal its 5.99 then its 5.99 simple.

Stewart D — Google review
Terrible whopper, using plant based mayo in the meat whopper tasted disgusting. Surely there is a specification issue here that all whoppers (meat) should use the same mayonnaise which should be heinz. The place was empty, not surprised. Bad food,. Staff can't understand English and the place was empty. Won't use burger king again. And 30p extra for sauces. You're having a laugh. Shocking.

I had a booking for a work do, 25 people. Set up was great, we had privacy and space to mingle. We’ve asked for a table service, as it was easier for the big group. Service was perfect! Staff professional, accommodating, helpful. We’ve been welcomed with some nibbles too! And finally the food! Even though we had 25 dishes the wait was not long at all! And every single dish was absolutely DELICIOUS. Everyone was very happy. I would 100% recommend for any occasion! Thanks to both front and back of house!

First time here, beautiful old building, plenty of seating available at the time we went but got busy quickly. Food tasted amazing and was served quickly, waiting staff were friendly and helpful. Bar service was quick, even when it got busier. Toilets upstairs (didn't see any downstairs so would maybe be an issue for wheelchair users or thse with mobility problems) were clean. Not sure how much was spent as I didn't pay Would definitely go again

already a huge fan of the lounge’s, figured we’d have to try this branch since we’re new to the area. as usual, they did not disappoint!! love the fact that you not only order online but can pay that way too, makes things a lot more time efficient and a lot more accessible for people with social anxiety as i find the ordering part of eating at any restaurant unbearable. the food is always 10/10, staff are always super friendly and Zapato is no exception! Not to mention the interior and decoration, as well as the general atmosphere and comfortable low lighting makes the dining experience so much more unique. Low lighting is also very autism friendly. Superb selection of veggie and vegan options too!

It's a relaxed place to spend a fun time with friends and family. I liked the variety of beers and cocktails, and the snacks tasted great. I want to come back someday when there's live music or to watch a rugby match on TV. There might be a fun atmosphere.

Thank goodness there is a new owner and manager. The bar staff here have always been good but the food used to be so bad that I had stopped ordering it. There is a great new menu with plenty of choice and The Beefy Blue Burger I had yesterday was delicious.

Nature & Parks
Parks
Sywell Country Park, located near the village of Sywell, offers a picturesque 2.5-mile walk around its former reservoir. The park features walking paths, a butterfly garden, a cafe, and a play area for children. Visitors can explore the Waterworks Heritage Trail to learn about the park's history. The flat and accessible paths make it perfect for families and dog walkers to enjoy the stunning autumn foliage reflected in the still waters of the reservoir.
We recently visited Sywell Country Park and found it to be one of Northampton’s most enjoyable outdoor destinations. The park offers ample parking with a fee of £3.50 for up to 12 hours, making it a convenient choice for a full-day visit. Among its attractions, the children’s play area is engaging, while the butterfly garden adds a charming touch to the experience. However, the true highlight is the stunning reservoir, which offers a peaceful and scenic setting for walking or running. The walkway around the reservoir is well-maintained, with plenty of benches along the way—ideal for rest breaks or simply enjoying the view. The refreshing breeze from the water adds to the park's serene atmosphere. Overall, Sywell Country Park is a fantastic spot for families, nature lovers, and anyone looking to unwind in a beautiful natural setting.

good walk about 6000 steps. dig and kids enjoy it parking is cheap and safe. I haven't used the cafe but seem to have lots of options

How lovely! Nice and local to Northampton centre. 15mins away with good parking at £3.50 for 12hours. Well maintained paths, playground and a cafe with vegan treats. Thoroughly enjoyed the views. We even saw some grazing cows.

A wonderful, quiet place to relax, stroll, spend time with family, or have a picnic. A beautiful place full of nature, unfortunately regularly devastated by trash left by visitors.
Dominika K — Google review
A really lovely country park, route around the reservoir is just under 5K and really pleasant. Ice cream in the cafe afterwards was top notch. Paying for parking can be fiddly if you haven’t got change .. Apple Pay on my phone wouldn’t work, but was able to sort via the paybyphone app. A great place to relax and spend a few hours.

Sywell Country Park is the sort of place where dogs think they’ve died and gone to heaven. Long winding paths, open spaces to tear around, and a reservoir big enough to make them dream of a career in wildfowl management. If your dog loves a good walk, this is basically Disneyland. You’ll see everything from tiny dachshunds strutting like they own the place to labradors leaping into the water with the grace of a cannonball. The trails are great for humans too. They’re easy enough that you can stroll along happily with a coffee, but varied enough to make you feel like you’ve actually achieved something by the end. There are woods, lakeside stretches and enough benches to stage a sit down protest if your legs give up. Families love it here as well. The kids’ play areas are the sort of contraptions that would make most adults secretly want to have a go, and there’s enough space for little ones to burn off every ounce of sugar they’ve ever eaten. Meanwhile, parents can collapse with a coffee from the café and watch the chaos unfold. Speaking of the café, it’s a handy pit stop and the cake portions are generous enough to make you forgive the occasional goose giving you side eye for not sharing. Bring snacks, bring patience and bring a camera because there’s always something entertaining going on – whether it’s a spaniel launching itself joyfully into the reservoir or a toddler trying to befriend a duck. Sywell is funny, friendly and full of life. It’s the perfect mix of nature, play and people watching, and you always leave with a happy dog, tired kids and the smug glow of having “done a proper walk.” Five stars and one honorary medal to the geese for keeping everyone on their toes.

What a great place, what a great variety of products; prepped food, vegetables, clothing, patio furniture, garden furniture, plants; annuals, and prenuals, trees, they have some fantastic olive trees, (wouldn't fit in the carry-on). Be prepared to spend a couple of hours and explore, but don't get lost, it's hugh, Moreover it has a great restaurant

Felt unwelcome here as a POC(person of colour) The place itself is beautiful and the aesthetics great although bathrooms weren’t clean. I was really hoping to try the restaurant there but prepared to be stared and gawked at by their regulars.I might try again as I had high expectations but overall just felt uncomfortable and left with a few items from the produce section and skipped on the restaurant.
Luba D — Google review
I went for lunch. It wasn't great sadly. I was on my on my own and was sat right in the middle of the restaurant looking towards an open door or I could have swapped seats and had the door behind me. I ordered a coffee and a jacket potato with bacon cheese and mushrooms. The food was tasty but wasn't hot in the middle and the coffee eventually arrived half way through my meal. I felt very unwelcome. I won't be going back.

Lovely spacious cafe area with a great range of cakes to choose from. Service was quick, and everything tasted fresh with quality local ingredients. Definitely worth a visit.

Had a lovely afternoon tea, fory mother's birthday, parking was easy, the emporium itself is very accessible and we went mid week it wasn't too busy. Staff are all friendly and happy to talk. Service in restaurant area was excellent. And the staff on the food counters in shop have a lot of knowledge on the produce and product and where they are sourced. Overall a nice afternoon out.

We've visited this garden centre a few times before but never eaten in the restaurant. It really is a good place to eat. Burger and chips were fab, my wife's egg and mayo was delicious and the drinks all good! Must say the best garden centre chips I've had in a long time and the coleslaw was lush too! Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere.
Nic F — Google review
Went there are 11.00 - plenty of tables free in the restaurant - great place to meet friends. Ordered lunch, it was served promptly. The shop is so big, more than just a garden centre, restaurant, plants and flowers, fresh food, bakery, meat and now ladies clothes - and they had a sale on! Easily spent 3 hours there and spent some money! Not bad for a rainy day.

Bird watching area
Abington Park, the oldest and most renowned park in Northampton, is steeped in history and offers a wide array of attractions. Situated at the top end of Wellingborough road, this picturesque oasis is just a short walk from the town center. Divided into two sections, it boasts a charming cafe, scenic lakes, vibrant flower displays, and an intriguing museum. The park's well-preserved landscape features mature trees and lush greenery that create a tranquil atmosphere.
Absolutely brilliant. Always clean and tidy. With I mean it is. I kept clean and tidy plus usable at all times. The park is split by a road but there is a crossing so it is very safe for your children and dogs and plenty of swings and climbing frames for the children and open space for the dogs to run around. Brilliant.

It’s always a great park to go to, with a nice cafe, the bird cages, the playground and sports areas all available. The grounds are always kept neat and tidy and the park is very nice to walk around. There are large areas of grass to play sports on and there are bookable tennis courts. The playground is very large with a large variety of things to do. The pond area is also very nice.

A lovely park with plenty of amusements for the kids, aviaries, a cafe serving drinks light snacks and meals. Live brass bands etc playing in the bandstand on Sunday afternoons in summer. Thoroughly recommended and it's free to enter.

I like this little park as it had a lot of benches to sit. Not too many dog walkers, so anyone scared of dogs can feel free. Nice trees to protect you from the heat on a sunny day. A cafeteria that sells drinks and ice cream

Parking is always an issue with this location, however I wouldn't want less park in order to create a car park. Very clean park when I went, big kids play area, lovely cafe with toilets which was great!

We love Abington Park, in any weather it's such a nice place to go. There is so much to say about it... There are two main green spaces/ parks, both with full site maps at the main entrance points if you need to orientate yourself in the first few visits. I did recently notice a new sign for the park run they've set up. The sign was located between the big pond and the football pitch on the path running juxtaposed to the play area path. The running route they've set up is for beginners through to experienced and there are new post markers installed around route (around the football pitch and mini forest) shown on the sign post for distance/route reminders, etc. We tend to walk our dog all over and meet with friends, letting the children explore the winding paths & through the trees. I've never seen so many squirrels in my life in one place, so that's always cute. The big pond is great for wildlife and seeing different birds, we have seen Herons in the smaller pond too. The birds (ducks/geese/swans/Moorhens/seagulls/pigeons, etc) have all been fed too often, so they are really greedy and will approach if you stand still. The boating lake next to the big pond is great if you have remote control boats. In the summer, it also has ride on mini boats and pedalos you have to pay to use. There tends to be a fair in summer near the play area. And you will often see people gather here for parties with tents/pop up gazebos etc, dotted everywhere, so it's really family friendly, and most people you see will talk or smile. You will feel the community spirit for sure if you want to. The play area is great for the kids. They've recently fixed some items (roundabout/landrover, etc) and built a new climbing frame for Littler Littles. Theres something for all ages here! In the warmer months there are usually 2 ice cream trucks parked near the traffic lights near the play area if in need of a yummy treat. Crossing over the traffic lights past the play area and ear the church, youll find the museum/band stand/cafe/toilets/bird walk. The cafe is great if you need a hot / cold drink or little ones fancy some ice cream in any weather - indoor & outdoor seating is available and they also have a nice lunch selection too. It's a little pricey for a quick bite, but it shouldn't put you off if you're not expecting to eat or drink there. The cafe also sells balls/Frisbees/bubbles, etc, so if you're going for a spontaneous visit, it's very handy. Near the cafe is the bird walk, which I think is open through the week, I know it's usually open until around 3 pm on Saturdays but not Sundays, I find. The museum is one place I keep meaning to explore but don't get around to doing, but that looks good. They often have events throughout the year advertised at the traffic light crossing between the two green spaces. There is sometimes a band playing on the band stand but mostly it's empty and the kids can go check it out. Over all its well maintained dog friendly park with lots to do, something for everyone... you'll often see the ground people maintaining it, driving around doing what they do best.

Hi All, nice and quiet peace of nature for everyone, hiking trails, cycling paths, dog-friendly paths too. There is a playground for kids and, a huge parking lot. Walking, running or cycling around the lake takes around 11km Highly recommended for all. Thank you, will come again. 🫡🙂

Lovely place. I wish my dog was allowed off the lead around the lake itself, but lovely nonetheless. There were some of the lead areas which my Pointer enjoyed thoroughly.

Great for walking the dog. We really enjoy the peace and quiet and the views onto the Reservoir. It takes roughly 2.5 hours to walk around the lake. Some people walk, some run or others are cycling round. There are toilets and a cafe at the main car park with a lovely sized playground for the kids. Had some food at the cafe today. The food was lovely. I chose chorizo and mozzarella toasties which came with a small pot of tasty chips and a cherry flavour flapjack. The service was polite and very professional.

First time I have visited. Took my dog and enjoyed a long walk through woodlands, fields and tracks. All well signposted. Large car park well marked out with ANPR on entry pay on exit so you dont need to worry about overstaying. Toilets were very clean. Cafe a little expensive and slow service on food but otherwise a great place to visit and shall be going again soon

I understand why they have been operating for 45+years:) if your looking for a great burger&chips look nowhere else!!

We ordered 4 meals from Midwest for our Family, there was something for everyone including children's portions and we were thoroughly impressed. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, flavourful, and clearly made with high quality ingredients. What really stood out was the service, we were warmly welcomed with a friendly hello, which is becoming rare these days. The staff were courteous and attentive, and the food was cooked fresh to order. We waited less than 10 minutes which was just brilliant. A great experience all around, highly recommend Midwest for anyone looking for quality food and genuine customer service at a great price.

Pub
Restaurant
Nestled in the picturesque countryside, Overstone Manor, formerly known as the Dukes Arms and originally the Lords Arms, is a charming pub-restaurant that serves up classic comfort food. With its rich history dating back to the 17th century and a name change honoring the Duke of Wellington, this venue has become a beloved local spot. The establishment features two bars—one for dining and another upstairs for games—making it perfect for both casual meals and social gatherings.
Haven’t been here for a while for a carvery and was pleasantly surprised. Food was delicious and had flavour! Was hot and the chef serving was very polite and friendly, super impressed! Only thing we sat near the kitchen door and slamming noise was quite irritating but can easily sit somewhere else. Just a tip if noises can irritate you. Will definitely be returning!
Maisie A — Google review
I had no choice but to give a lower score than I would liked just for the sheer lack of service. The senior member of the team was very unprofessional no service with a smile, she was quite abrupt upon returning a drink of soda that had no flavour(syrup ran out) calling a younger member of staff aggressively to try the Fanta and his response was it's definitely fizzy but has not got any flavour. The table staff were great friendly and clearing plates and checking if our food was okay. The carvery starting off we had to ring a bell for service we was finally greeted by the server then he wondered off returning 5-10 minutes later to serve a small queue. The Carvery spread was hit and miss the meat was delicious but the vegetables etc had obviously been sitting for far too long, the roast potatoes were very dry and tasted of a dirty oven the other veg was either too over or too raw. This was meant to be 40th birthday celebration with out of town family and friends. Some other dishes were delicious others again were hit and miss. The Overstone Manor was a great place to eat many years ago with a few tweaks here and there, staff changes etc it could be once more.

We have been twice again recently with different people and had some great food (kids eat free in the summer holidays which is a massive bonus!). Me and my husband went to Overstone for a carvery around 6pm on Sunday 21st September and it was awful to say the least. Heavily understaffed. No cutlery on tables. Tables filthy. I tripped on a corn on the cob which had been dropped on the floor and left.Still not picked up when we left despite it being in the middle of the floor. Some poor lady slipped on broccoli and dropped and smashed her plate of food. Meat tough, Yorkshire puddings looked like pancakes. Overall a typical Greene King pub. Would not return or recommend.

Kym is an absolute gem. Friendly server which always makes the experience top tier. All staff friendly and accommodating. Carvery was great. Great value for money ❤️

Best calvary ever, we absolutely love it, the flavour and the temperature of the food is fantastic. Staff are always great and helpful. I would be careful of Sundays as they are incredibly busy so make sure you book a table in advance, don’t just walk in for food. We go on Saturdays and it’s just a chill place, no loud music, everybody going about their day with a great atmosphere. Also nice and clean.

Lovely Green King Pub, can't believe I've tried a few other ones and only just tried this one. The location is lovely with a garden area covered with patio and little park for kids. Lots of green space with plenty of tables. Ordered using our phones, which did take a while even though it was very quiet. The staff member brought the food and knew we had ordered our drinks and brought them out after but apologised for the wait. (Normally drinks are brought out first and fast). Good menu and good prices. Friendly staff. Would return again and would have given 5 stars if the service was a little quicker.

Pub
Brampton Halt is a charming country pub situated in the village of Chapel Brampton, Northamptonshire. Housed in an old stationmaster's residence built in 1859, it offers a cozy ambiance with wood burners, dining areas, and terrace tables overlooking a picturesque lake and countryside. The pub's outdoor decked spaces are adorned with twinkling fairy lights and themed dining booths that provide a unique dining experience.
It was my 77th birthday and we were made to feel as if we were the only people in the restaurant that mattered. The staff were so good at what they do and really attentive. Despite it being a busy night for them, they managed to get around to everyone and serve them with their meals. Absolutely fantastic. I asked my husband to go and thank the Chef personally for the wonderful food that we had. All three of us had different meals and they were all top draw. Thank you again for making my birthday so special. On top of which, when the deserts came out, mine had a personalised message and a candle. You all made me feel like I was a young girl again. A very special mention for Louise who really did make my experience memorable. Thank you.

This was my first visit and I had a lovely breakfast. I had the Smoked Salmon Eggs Royale and my friend had the breakfast sandwich. There was a generous amount of salmon, the sauce was lovely and the poached eggs were perfectly cooked. I really enjoyed it. I also had a pot of tea which gave me about 3 cups worth, and was served with milk, sugar, and a lotus biscoff biscuit. My total bill was £16.30 which I thought was reasonable. My friend's sandwich was huge for the £8 price and she said everything in it was great. Will definitely be back for breakfast and perhaps also to try their main dinner menu

Myself and my brother came for a meal. Weve not been here for many years. The staff were friendly and professional. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a great experience

Just recently we have brought friends here twice and can honestly say on both occasions we have had a really good time. Our groups were both 55 years plus, but there were all age groups enjoying a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable greeting you with smiles and eye contact. The food both visits was extremely good, my husband says the lamb was delicious. Portions and variety of menu are good and the prices are reasonable for the standard of food you are getting. We will definitely be visiting again soon.

We have visited the halt for years on occasion and very rarely choose to eat out for a Sunday dinner. Unfortunately the food was just not very nice upon our visit today, we were waiting a very long time and had 2 children in tow, too. The cauliflower cheese came out first before any of the food (roast), 10 minutes later the adult mains arrived and in this time the cauliflower cheese had gone cold and again, we were waiting on the children's food.. when it eventually arrived they'd got the order completely wrong- bringing chicken instead of fish ( we do not eat chicken). Waitress had said we said chicken, none of us eat chicken so this is not possible. The manager offered to take the chicken off and replace it with fish- we are vegetarian so wouldn't want to eat from something that had just had chicken sitting on it. Eventually we all had our food in front of us and tried to start to enjoy the food and my daughter found not one but two hairs on her dinner embedded in the fish fingers. At this point we had quite simply just had enough. £105 later and none of us felt happy with the food. Young waitress seemed lovely and she tried her best but unfortunately got our order wrong. Manager stated she would take the kids meal off of the bill but hadn't informed the staff at the bar so we ended up paying it anyway. I really really hope this is a one off because this is so disappointing to leave feedback like this but unfortunately we wont be returning for food.

For day 3, we recommend exploring the south side side of town. Start the day off with St James Retail Park, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Althorp Estate. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Parking is often a problem, especially around the holiday period. Apart from that there is a great selection of shops with plenty of options to choose from, and is quite often my go to place for anything I need to purchase.

Charges of £100 for a car returning to shop again in under 1hr to St James Retail Park, Northampton from Parkingeye Limited. They state "No car permitted to return in under an hour"!? Message to SJRP Management, you should be ashamed and sacked for being so incompetent for neglecting Northampton town.

Garden center
Billing Garden Village is a delightful destination that offers a charming blend of shopping and dining experiences. Visitors can enjoy outdoor seating at both the Shed Cafe and Sycamore Cafe, with the latter boasting a more extensive indoor area and an eclectic menu. The village features various shops, including a garden center, butchers known for their delicious cheese and onion bread, and even an Asian takeaway. You’ll find unique wooden huts housing individual businesses like mobile phone repair services and bulk cleaning product stores.
Recommend the Shed Cafe or the Sycamore Cafe both have outdoor seating . Sycamore has a lot more seating inside with varied menu , also little clothing outlet just off the restaurant. New garden centre now open just off car park, also a car wash , a butchers and Asian takeaway/small Cafe. Various little cabins , mobile phone repair etc. New small shop selling a lot of bulk and large size cleaning products, drinks , sweets etc.

Art gallery
Northampton Museum and Art Gallery is a free museum that boasts an extensive shoe collection, along with fine and decorative art as well as local heritage displays. It is home to the world's largest collection of objects related to the history of shoes. The museum has recently expanded in size, featuring a nine-meter-high glazed atrium extension that connects the original building to new galleries and activity space. Additionally, Northamptonshire is known for its renowned shoemakers, some of which are still in operation today.
Lovely and funny exhibition about "worse album covers". Really funny and picking a top 3 was hard 🤣🤣. Also went to the shoe exhibition, great as well. Plus it's free entrance, awesome
Astrid E — Google review
Staff are lovely and welcoming on arrival. For it being completely free it was an amazing museum. Plenty of things to see. The pop up exhibition was very fun with things to interact with. My favourite part of the museum/ art gallery was the animals made from scraps, absolutely gorgeous and clever, with such a great message. The artist are very talented. The shoe museum was very fun aswell.

I am writing to express my concern regarding a recent experience at your museum. During our visit, my 3-year-old child was denied access to upstairs floor due to bringing a small balance bike (without pedals). I understand and fully support your efforts to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors. However, I would like to respectfully question the necessity of applying such a restriction to a very young child’s balance bike, which is designed specifically for toddlers and does not pose the same risks as a traditional bicycle or scooter. At this age, many children rely on these small bikes for mobility and comfort, especially during longer outings. The bike in question was extremely small, non-motorized, and intended only to help our child navigate the space calmly and safely. I would greatly appreciate clarification on your policy and whether there might be any flexibility or case-by-case consideration, particularly for very young children using balance bikes responsibly. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope we can find a reasonable solution that allows families with young children to continue enjoying the museum experience.
Renato L — Google review
Wonderful museum and gallery. The biggest highlight is the dedication to accessibility. Accessible toilets well-sized, clean, and easy to access. All corridors were wide enough for mobility aids, and many doors were automatic. Despite the older elements of the building, it's clear how much effort has been made to create an inclusive environment. The cafe is reasonably priced and the exhibitions were brilliant and somewhat interactive. The shoe exhibition was by far the best!

Stadium
Cinch Stadium at Franklin's Gardens is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to immerse themselves in the vibrant rugby culture of Northampton. This iconic venue, home to the Northampton Saints, beautifully combines modern amenities with a rich history that resonates throughout its grand exterior. Attending a match here offers an unforgettable experience; fans can feel the electric atmosphere as supporters from both teams mingle together, creating a sense of community and excitement.
What a great stadium. Great atmosphere, great and helpful stewards, and a great place to watch rugby. Very well organised throughout and made it a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
Allan D — Google review
Went to watch Northampton VS Bath, great game of rugby with the Saints fans making a great and horrible atmosphere at the same time. The chants were sung loud and proud by the Saints supporters however as soon as the referee made a bad decision the fans booed and whistled. A penalty was given to Bath for a decision the Saints fans didn’t agree with, so they booed and whistled even when Finn Russell was taking a kick for Bath and the Saints guy who is on the speakers did not say anything about it. I’ve been to the Saints many times and this is the first time they didn’t tell anyone off. One time someone didn’t respect the kicker and got told off. Utter nonsense, huge disgrace and disrespectful upon both the club, stadium and rugby as a sport. Seemed more like a football match via the supporters. The food also was a bit bad and the description was kind of a lie. At half time I went to get some food and saw ‘BBQ Pulled Pork’ with ‘Grilled Cheese’ in the description. As soon as I asked the woman serving food she was really confused and said to her what it said and she replied by saying that they serve pulled pork or chilli with wedges. Not very good service and fans for the team who won the premiership.

Went for a rugby match today. I really enjoyed the experience. Well organized and would love to go there again. There were stalls for food and drinks. There was parking near by. It is located just before Mercury bingo.

First time at a rugby match. The thing that struck me was sizes. Watching a lot of rugby on TV warps the scale of things. We were 3 rows from the pitch and 3 seats away from the players. On the pitch they look normal size, on the screen huge up close huge. The rugby village with live band was good and loved how both teams had fans mingling socially in the same area. An amazing experience for kids. Only issue is the seats are super tight. 4 normal men struggle to sit shoulder to shoulder and lift a beer. Toilets are accessible with one way systems in place.
The O — Google review
Good place to watch rugby although the quality cant be guaranteed. Easy bookable parking. Shirt walk to the stadium, ticket access worked well. Plenty of toilets. Excellent fan zone for before and at half time. Plenty of food and drink options. An excellent facility.

Northampton Saints stadium for excellent rugby matches. The stadium itself holds around 10,000 & is often full. There are numerous food & drink outlets scattered around the spectator village serving good quality & reasonably priced items. The many Stewards are helpful to newbies & visiting fans.

Went to see England's Red Roses take on Italy's women in the six nations and had a great time at the stadium. Terrace D (standing) had a great view of the pitch and the facilities were great. Lots of food and drink choices on offer, clean bathrooms, water filling stations and just an all round great experience (helped by the score line, I'm sure).

COME ON YOU SAINTS! I have epic memories visiting Franklin Gardens and watching my rugby team: Northants Saints play. Every time I have been here to watch them, I have been fortunate to meet one or two of the star players. The atmosphere is epic if you’re sitting outside or in a VIP box. A great day out. Don’t forget to purchase your memorabilia! Such a respectable game to watch live.

Excellent customer service, Safeguarding lead in the family stand did an amazing job with paramedics taking care of a clearly visible disoriented lady during the match. Food and drink in the east stand could do with an upgrade, especially the hotdogs and the queues. New east stand parts built so new entrance manned by very polite and helpful staff. Althorp Estate, located in the civil parish of Althorp, Daventry District, is a historic site that has been owned by the Spencer family for over 500 years. The estate covers 13,000 acres of picturesque countryside and features a 550-acre park with stunning views. It is home to the Grade listed stately Althorp House and Estate, where Princess Diana's island grave and a memorial can be found.
Very relaxing visit. Unlike some houses, Althorp still looks and feels like a family home. Beautiful rooms - some of the best I've seen. Free parking too which is a bonus. Guides were really friendly and knowledgeable. One felt welcomed rather than simply observed to make sure you didn't touch the exhibits. I was lucky enough to meet Earl Spencer as he was signing books in the gift shop. Will definitely return soon.
Andy W — Google review
Visited with my Historic Houses card that thankfully helps me avoid a very overpriced £30 ticket. As I left, a family of four were handing over something like £87, which I would really advise against. There are limited grounds that you are welcome to roam in, which is something I’m used to at historic houses/gardens. The house itself is impressive of course, although I would have liked better interpretation boards around. Why not provide a list of the paintings? I had to ask a member of staff for their copy as I was curious about one in particular, but was asked to only take a photo of that specific listing. Unsure why there needs to be such secrecy around it. Personally I would like to see some information on the Black presence in some of the statues and paintings dotted around the house. You can’t take photos inside, presumably because it’s still the family house (and also to help sell the guide book), but I hope there might be a way in the future to remove that restriction. The walk around the lake is pleasant enough, although there’s not much to see other than the Diana memorial. There was nothing in the shop of interest to me, and I didn’t try out the cafe. But there are plenty of benches to have your own lunch, which was nice. I also had no issue with the car park being away from the house, but it would be great if there was somewhere to park a bike.
Marques — Google review
Beautiful place, the cafe is okay. It only offers cold sandwiches and cakes, very minimal hot food - etc soup. The family home is very pretty and the staff is well knowledgeable and proactively explained everything. The oval lake is peaceful, beautiful but also you can feel the sadness around it.

This is one of the most Beautiful and Enchanting places we have visited. The House was exquisite inside, the history was amazing. All the staff inside and out were extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Outside was immaculately maintained and the Oval Lake where Diana’s resting place is was Breathtaking. Overall one of the best days we’ve had 🥰 A Huge Thank you to All the Staff and most importantly to Lord Spencer (whom we had the pleasure of speaking with) who if it was not for him allowing the public to come into his home and grounds to have a look, we would never be able to see all of this. Such a privilege and honour 🤗🥰 Would highly recommend a visit. We will definitely be returning without a doubt!!
Lesley W — Google review
It was such a gorgeous day so we decided to revisit Althorp. The whole place is immaculate and the lake was stunning. Great having the benches to sit on and enjoy the view. Last time I came, there were more flowers in the beds at the rear of the house, which added some amazing colour, but I appreciate there would be a cost involved in that. The trees were stunning and sheer size of the property incredible. The sign into the property could be more obvious - went all the way round to the front gates, as that was the way on last time I visited - eventually found the correct sign but it was quite small and hidden in the hedge. I was able to get some great photographs thanks!

We visited on Tuesday 8th July 25. The whole experience was amazing! The house is full of artwork telling the story of the estate and the Spencer family. Beautiful grounds that are well set out and cared for impeccably. I have wanted to come here for many years and feel so privileged to finally get to visit. I wasn't disappointed. The cafe is in the old stables courtyard where we had tea and cakes in the sunshine. The tributes to Diana are beautiful and walking around the lake where Diana is buried it felt very tranquil and a perfect setting for a perfect lady. So glad I made the journey from North East England. It was well worth it and surprisingly great value for money.
Linda G — Google review
An impressive estate. Tributes to Diana start with a line of 36 oak trees and a plaque part way along. No photos allowed in the house, which has plentiful portraits and ornate furniture. Staff very friendly and informative. Interesting to see the bedrooms already made up ready for future guests. The house is only open during July and August. From the house it is a few minutes walk to the lake where Princess Diana is buried. It is very peaceful, a good place to sit awhile. A monument to Diana stands at the head of the lake, with Charles Spencer's touching words about her engraved into a plaque.

Prezzo Italian Restaurant Northampton is a casual Italian chain eatery that specializes in stone-baked pizzas and classic pasta dishes. Situated in the restaurant quarter of Market Place, near the Parish Church, this establishment offers disabled toilets and a lift, as well as step-free access for those with mobility issues. It also provides baby changing facilities, WiFi connectivity, alfresco dining options, and a selection of draught beers.
Such a fun night! Regular visitors to this restaurant and love the staff. Beatricie was so patient with us last night, trying to work out our best cocktail deal, asking her 1,000 questions, couldn't decide what to eat and changing out minds several times. Absolutely loved the rock, paper, scissors game, what a brilliant thing to do, not just saying that because we ended up with two free desserts because our champ won, but because it was such a fun thing to do, never seen that anywhere else, well done Prezzo. Thanks to the chefs for delicious food and to the staff for superb service, see you again very soon, Carole and the gang x

We went for Easter and it was so quiet but so lovely! Great food as always, great atmosphere and attentive staff. As the restaurant was quite empty it would have made sense for the waitress to stand at the end of the table to hear everyone and so every could hear her rather than behind people where they couldn’t.

We had a great evening at the Northampton restaurant. As always, the staff were very happy and pleasant, in particular, Beatricie who was our server. Despite our visiting being on a very busy warm and sunny evening and that it was the brilliant 99p Monday deal, the drinks and food were served with smiles and promptly. We would also like to say thanks to the chefs who cooked our orders to perfection. We visit fairly frequently and will continue to do so in the future. Well done to everyone.
Andy K — Google review
It was a busy service with the special offer but waiting 40 minutes for food staff should have said this when placing an order as poor communication ruins an evening. The food when it came out was not up to usual standard as pizza dough was very doughy still and undercooked while the sauce had been placed in a hurry and was very uneven. Understandable based on kitchen demands but restaurant knowing this should have managed booking, service and communication better and made sure food was up to standard. Overall very disappointing

Very busy. Not really enough staff. Very pleasant and friendly and polite service. Food very good, well presented, tasty, but Prezzo is becoming expensive to eat at. I spent Tesco vouchers. I would not eat at Prezzo if I didn’t use my vouchers.

St James Kebab in Northampton is a popular spot for delicious and generous kebab meals. Customers rave about the huge portions, affordable prices, and friendly staff. The mixed kebab platter with lamb doner, kofta, and lamb shish is a standout dish that's perfect for sharing. The meat is described as moist, flavorful, and of high quality. Visitors appreciate the welcoming atmosphere and excellent customer service at this go-to kebab joint.
Popped in before going to the Saint's Rugby. I had a large mixed doner and the salad was nice and fresh and very tasty. I had my meal inside not many seats as it's more aimed for takeaways but comfortable. Staff quick and efficient.

This place is a joke suck a let down. On our first visit I had an amazing Lamb Shish Kebab with some fresh vegetables and lovely dressing. The staff where helpful respectful at all times. I would recommend this place to everyone. However after my second visit I would not recommend anyone. In our mixed kebab was a mixture of laughter and and tears. But hardly any chicken and not a naan bread in site. I was so disappointed 😔 it seems this place is very hit and miss. With the food and the friendliness.

Ordered food here for many years. Today was the first time I've ever had anything wrong with my order. I phoned up and within 10 minutes I had my correct order delivered and an apology. The best take out restaurant by far. Great food, great staff.
John M — Google review
If you value your hard-earned money and your self-respect, do yourself a favor and steer clear of this place. The prices here are outrageously inflated—I'm talking way above what you'd pay at any other decent restaurant. It's like they think their food is made of gold, but trust me, it’s not worth the markup. As if the rip-off prices weren't bad enough, the service is downright appalling. The staff is rude beyond belief. If you dare to voice a complaint or question the absurd prices, be prepared to be met with hostility. They don't just brush you off—they go on the attack, hurling insults and abuse as if you're the problem for wanting a decent experience. In short, if you respect yourself and your wallet, stay far away from these people. There are plenty of other restaurants out there that actually appreciate their customers. This one? Not even close.

I have not been to TGI Fridays for years, so we thought we would go. Before we left home, I thought I would check the menu out. Everything looked really good, plenty of choice. Was puzzled as to why nothing was priced on the menu on their website. After going there I now know why. Extortionate prices. Fries £5.00, which I wouldn't mind if you were given a reasonable amount, but the portions were tiny. My 8oz sirloin steak looked amazing when it turned up on the plate! First mouthful was fat and grizzle, which I had to put into a napkin. Not a great start. I asked my wife where she thought my garlic and chilli king prawns were. To which she replied on your plate. I looked down to see 3 tiny prawns. They were bland, not a hint of chilli or garlic. My daughter had a tiny portion of fries, the Fridays Sesame chicken strips which I tried and they were nice, small portion again. Also the Cajun spiced mac and cheese, which was again a small portion and quite bland flavour. My wife had the Cajun chicken pasta dish, which she said was ok. 2 Strawberry Daiquiri cocktails at £16 which were nice but came in little tumbler glasses. 2 cokes, and a refillable coke zero. Bill came to £107+. I don't mind paying when the food tastes good and you get a reasonable amount. This wasn't the case at TGI Fridays. Very disappointing. Will never eat there again

Nice clean and inviting. Happy staff. Good tasting food. Nice cocktails. Only downside is mains are a little pricey. Fine if going as a date or paying individually with friends ext. I have a large family so just out prices us.

Booked via the web, arrived on time and waited at the bar, here’s the first challenge, the bar is the centre of Fridays and always used to be busy but a real focus area, we didn’t get a drink, totally ignored by the bar staff (only one team member on) given drinks are usually easy profit margins this clearly isn’t understood by the management. As no drinks had at the bar, no one else at the bar waiting so not busy, just clearly not a priority to make easy margins…. Once seated, another longer than average wait, 19:45 booking 20:15 before first drink arrives, here’s the next irony, no American larger it’s Moreti and that’s Italian from memory…… On the plus side and both the starters and mains were great, usual Fridays flavours and taste, I took the Tacos to start and the the ultimate ribs, others had the Mozzarella dippers and Seaseme Chicken for mains. No dessert tonight, all full.

Millie was an exceptional servicer who always prioritised the satisfaction of every customer. Her dedication and attention to detail were truly outstanding, and she consistently went above and beyond to ensure that every customer received the best possible service. Her commitment to excellent service was unmatched, and she always took the extra step to ensure every customer was happy and content. Overall, delicious food, the 2-for-1 cocktails were terrific, and the service was exceptional.

We stopped here for lunch on a Saturday, it was fairly busy but we managed to get a table without booking. Although the food was well presented it wasn't that great- we had to send a couple of items back as they were stone cold! However, the staff were excellent and happy to help us out with this! Overall it was a decent atmosphere with great staff but was very expensive for what you get.

I recently visited TGIs with my friend as it always used to be one of my favorite chains. I have visited a few times recently and received not the best food but I thought these might be one offs. I have now realized it seems to be a reoccurring issue that the standard of the food has massively dropped. The food is extremely oily and lacks flavor. The Cajun pasta was dripping in oil and had no flavor except for that of oil. I am in shock food like this is even served. Let alone a dish that costs £15! I also ordered dishes and specified ingredients to be taken out. All of my dishes arrived wrong. Alongside the low standard of food on my recent visit, the service was extremely slow and I had to ask twice for the bill. After receiving this, I asked for a card machine and waited another 30 mins with no sign of said card reader. I then had to go to the bar instead as no one came over to the table or even seemed bothered we had been waiting to leave for a long time. This has really put me off coming back to TGIs as I left feeling like I had wasted my money and very disappointed!

Excellent service and good gluten free options. Need more gluten free dessert options. Can recommend the warrior fries and the gluten free bun for the burger was excellent. No allergy menu but give you a card with a QR code to view the allergen menu - see photo

worst pizza ive ever tasted🤢! ordered a margarita pizza for collection it was burnt, rock solid and inedible. Called the store to address the issue. The man was extremely rude and unprofessional and hung up the phone on me. HOW CAN YOU TRUST SUCH PEOPLE TO MAKE YOUR FOOD??? never order from here absolutely disgusting
Shanyla R — Google review
Very disappointed with my recent experience at Domino's Northampton. I placed a collection order for a Margherita pizza, and the app showed it would be ready in 9 to 11 minutes. I reached the store after 15 minutes, expecting it to be ready or nearly done. Instead, I was told it would take another 2-3 minutes. I waited patiently, but after 15 more minutes of standing around, another staff member came and said it would be ready in 3 minutes. I finally received my pizza after waiting a total of 10 extra minutes beyond that. Extremely unprofessional and irresponsible service. No clear communication, no apology, and definitely not the standard I expect from Domino’s. Won’t be coming back to this branch anytime soon.

I ordered a pizza to my university and then delivery driver called me to meet at a roundabout because he didn’t know how to get in the parking so it took me 2 minutes to get there and by the time i’m there he gave my food to some other uni student and when i called him he told me it was my friend. Then i told the store that the driver didn’t confirm the order to the person he gave it to and then she told me that the driver had been working with them for 2 years + and he wouldn’t lie. I can understand if it’s an honest mistake for the driver to not confirm the order but the driver lied and she kept telling me that it was my friend who collected it while putting me on hold for 20 minutes. Then she told me to type in on google “Dominos number” to call for a refund so I told the lady i would come to the store to prove i payed for the order and see if the driver recognises me and she said no and put me on hold for 30 minutes and then let me know they are redoing my order. And i finally got my order about 2 hours after ordering with no reimbursements. The 2nd delivery driver was very nice and understood the situation. All this could’ve been avoided if the first delivery driver confirmed the name before giving the order, especially when delivering to a university

Absolutely disgusted with this service. I spent £65 on food that never arrived. I waited over 2 hours, kept being told “it’s on the way,” and then the delivery driver lied and said he was outside. He didn’t even wait a minute before marking the order as “delivered” — but nothing ever came. When I called the restaurant, the manager was extremely unhelpful and refused to give me a refund. Instead, they insisted the order had been delivered when it clearly hadn’t. I’ve been left with no food, no refund, and a terrible experience. This is daylight robbery. I will never order from here again, and I strongly warn others not to waste your money. If something goes wrong, they don’t care and won’t help you at all.

Garbage pizza toppings were almost non existent pizza tasted blant I wouldn't even pay £5 for their large pizza never coming back. Edit: Thanks for your generic reply however I am not interested in a free pizza or a voucher therefore I am not going to send you an email I am truly disappointed with the quality of the pizza the only thing that you have going is the good quality dough/base but it means nothing when you put little to none effort into toppings and their flavour shrinkflation is real at domino's completely losing the quality of the overall product making it taste like dough for a premium price I would expect a premium product please don't be so stingy on toppings some people would like a nice pizza not just a nice dough thanks.

They have something for everyone a restaurant, an amazing shop with a large selection of gifts and essentials. Pet shop with animals and birds, and even a dog groomers on site. Christmas is amazing here! Ice Skating Santa's Grotto, VR Sleigh Ride. More than just a trip to a garden centre it's a full day out! Would 100% recommend!

My partner and little boy visited Whilton Locks looking for a BBQ on BH Monday. It was easy to get to with ample parking. There is a lot to see, plenty of plants, pots, fire pits, chairs, outdoor ornaments and much more. The choice of BBQ was severely limited. We ended up buying festoon lighting in the sale area and nearly brought a beautiful garden sofa set. We did not go ahead with the purchase as what we wanted they had no available stock. I just want to say thank you to all staff who approached us and assisted with our purchasing and enquiries. One staff member collected all 6 boxes and tested them to ensure they were working before we left. Chelsea, found answers to all of our questions and did her best to accommodate our needs. She kept to her promise of calling 2 days in a row and was professional and pleasant with every call. We will certainly go back another day when we have more time.

Great range of products but as often the case Dan be a bit more expensive. 5 of us had lunch there, good menu, service was fairly quick &: staff were pleasant but they don't go out of their way for customer service. We sat outside with the dogs, they brought out about half the good & drinks & I asked the waitress if we could have some salt & vinegar for the chips, she said you gave to go back inside for that! How much effort would it of been for someone to bring out a couple of sachets with the rest of the food? The food itself was lovely but the service not so!

Heart of The Shires is a charming shopping village located in the Northamptonshire countryside. It features over 20 individual shops and galleries, as well as a tearoom, all set around a picturesque Victorian courtyard. The village offers a stress-free shopping experience with a wide range of shops to choose from, including bridal couture, kitchenware, gift shops, and more.
Open 7 days a week between 10am-5pm. Plenty of free parking Toilets available. Cafe available with both indoor and outdoor seating Dogs are welcome, and also in most shops but check with each before entering. A gathering of small individual little shops, some selling some very cool stuff.. from antiques, to toys, clothes, garden stuff, furniture, sweet shop, and a salon. Some shops are in the courtyard, some are in a different building. It's a very unusual and quirky little selection. Quite different from your local shopping centre, but definitely worth a visit. Note, the cafe gets very busy during peak periods.

It was our first visit today, and won't be our last! A beautiful little shopping village, very quaint. All the shop owners and staff we met today were so friendly. Lunch at the 1867 was lovely too. Our doggy loved The Dog Barn, and we had to visit the Sweet Shop too! For a very laid back little shopping trip, it was fabulous. Free parking as well! Highly recommended.

Lovely little shopping village with big character. My wife loves browsing their shops and we never left empty handed. Staff is very friendly and helpful, massive selection of goods and crafts from local suppliers as well as well known brands. It rarely gets busy so if you dislike crowds while shopping, this is the place for you.

Visited the cafe today, the food was really tasty but the 2 pots of tea we had went cold before our food arrived and the service was very slow. Asked if we wanted desserts, if we did, we could go and look in the cabinet or they could take photo to show us the choice. We looked in cabinet then had to wait a while before we asked the staff to take our order.

Coton Manor Garden, located in the village of Guilsborough, is a picturesque 10-acre garden surrounding a stunning 17th-century manor house. Originally designed in the 1920s, the garden has been expanded over generations to take advantage of its natural setting and water features. The terraces around the manor house are adorned with colorful pots and containers, while the surrounding gardens offer unexpected vistas at every turn.
Very relaxing environment. I'd recommend getting there early as it can get pretty busy during peak times. Such a lovely Botanical gardens. Rather large nursery with wide range of plants hidden behind the cafe too. Love this place

Visited this garden in the second week of September, when most gardens are looking past their best for the season and there's not a lot of colour. I couldn't believe how fantastic this garden looked! The layout is very interesting, with a beautiful water garden running down a slope leading to a more open area. I've visited many gardens in the UK, and this is definitely one that I will remember for a long time and one of the very best. The tea room is reasonably priced and the cake was great. We didn't have one of the meals on offer but the menu looked tempting.

Never fails to please. Beautiful gardens that even in early Oxtober had lots of colour. Chickens and flamingoes roam on the lawns. The gardens are well maintained and we even had tea and delicious cake. We are thinking of getting a season ticket for next year. We'll worth a visit.

Northampton & Lamport Railway, located at Pitsford and Brampton Station, offers seasonal steam and diesel-powered rides along a 1.5-mile stretch of restored heritage track designed by George Stephenson. The railway, which had been closed since 1981, now provides passengers with the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful countryside while riding classic locomotives or exploring the station's memorabilia.
A lovely little hidden gem of Northampton. Although not huge, it's a great experience that not everywhere offers. Firstly, the staff are welcoming and friendly (especially for the children). Lots of opportunities to see some history and how trains operate. Plenty of options of refreshments at good prices. The train ride may be short but lovely for those who want to reminisce the history of trains and see some of Northampton's countryside for a small price.

Visited today (bank holiday Monday) for the Bluey event. We had never been before despite living locally. On arrival it was quite busy and we were unsure if there would be enough space to park but there was plenty of space with an overflow car park too. We went to the ticket office to redeem the tickets we had bought online, the staff were very friendly and helpful explaining where/when we could expect to see Bluey and what times the train would arrive. We had a lovely trip on the train, just the right amount of time before our little boy started to get a little bored. We had a look in the gift shop and bought an ice cream and lemon drizzle cake from the cafe which was very reasonably priced. There was face painting, hook a duck and a cups and saucers ride for the children at this particular event which was lovely too! We will definitely be back and look forward to seeing if there will be anything going on at Christmas!

What a superb visit at the Northampton and Lamport Railway. I booked the Cream Tea experience as a Mother's Day gift for my 89 year old Mum. Mum and I had the most wonderful time, and we were so impressed with the kindness and hospitality shown to us by the friendly volunteers. (A special mention must go to Joe Pratt who was super helpful and enthusiastic) Mum has a few mobility issues, but all the volunteers were on hand to help when boarding and disembarking the train and nothing was too much trouble. A shout out also to the ladies who prepared and served the delicious cream teas. Everything was spot on. I would highly recommend this as a super gift experience.

Glad I Visited this old railway even though it was closed. Nice pub next to it. Be careful of the many holes in the green by the tables. Lake is easy to walk around with some seating, sadly neglected, you can rest at. Good selection of drinks Inc low % IPA for those who drive. Food smelled lovely but I didn't eat this time.

We came here as a family and had such a lovely day out. It’s a smaller heritage railway, but it’s full of charm and character. The station at Pitsford and Brampton has a really nostalgic feel, and everything is run by friendly, passionate volunteers who make you feel genuinely welcome. The train ride isn’t long, but it was just enough for our kids to get excited without getting restless. They loved watching the steam engine up close and waving at people as we passed by. There’s also a little museum and some railway exhibits that kept them curious, plus a tearoom where we grabbed some drinks and cake — simple but tasty. It’s clear a lot of care goes into this place, and we really appreciated the relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. We’re already thinking about coming back for one of the themed events like the Santa Specials or a diesel day. If you’re looking for a wholesome, easygoing trip with a bit of old-school fun, this place is definitely worth a visit.

I visited for the first time and my son enjoyed himself a lot. Loads of friendly staff from the moment you set foot on the platform, great priced gift shop and very nice cafe food. Sadly there was no steam train on our visit but equally we enjoyed ourselves on a diesel train which was just as good. We would definitely be returning for a steam engine trip but I would also recommend travelling on the diesel train too they are just as fun!

The Spencer Arms is a pleasant establishment situated below a large brewery. The menu, similar to that of other pubs associated with the brewery, offers reasonably priced dishes of decent quality. However, what truly sets this place apart is its delightful ambiance, friendly staff, and charming building. It's definitely worth visiting again in the future. The food served here is both delicious and affordable.
I popped in after passing by and then turning around to come in. I'm glad I did! Very friendly team, welcoming and polite. I was served promptly and the food also came out within 5 minutes of ordering. I had the salmon fishcake with new potatoes, poached egg and salad. All cooked amazingly and the perfect portion. The menu had a great selection. Atmosphere was chill and relaxed with a tidy, clean environment. I will come back!

Great service and great food! Very polite from the moment we stepped into the front door and the service was speedy. Had the trio roast and beef rib. Both was very tasty and reasonable priced. Definitely beats a few pubs I've been to for a roast and grub! Would recommend booking, as it gets full quick. Will be back again for sure! 😉

I have taken my time to do this review. Mainly because I am extremely angry. While the nearby road was closed we supported this business by coming out of our way to visit. The majority of the time the food was very good. However this time the service and food were quite frankly shocking. I have ordered the same item a number of times , the Butternut squash grill steak. This arrived with no butternut squash and the veg in the plate had not seen a grill. We complained only to be told it was cut backs , on further complaints to another member of staff , butternut squash was bought out in a bowl (steamed or boiled) the first lady then come out and said she hadn't email cut backs and that was how it was. Despite multiple people having heard her. Rude and obnoxious seemed to be her mantra. Eventually they gave us the meal free, but we will not be back and urge others not to go until this appealing woman is removed from this establishment.

We popped in lunch time Saturday and we're greated by friendly staff what got us seated right away. Had a look through the menu and then ordered off the specials board. We had the venison burger and the chicken burger. These came out and looked amazing and tasted just as good. I really should remember to take pictures before eating 🤣 Definitely be back.

We ordered our starter waited 40 minutes and still no show. Then the lady on the table next to us complained half way through her starter because she had not got the starter she ordered. No she had mine. Then my wife's starter arrived . She had finished her 10 minutes before my replacement even arrived. The lady serving us apologized and deducted my starter from the bill. Then my main course arrived supposed to be Steak pie with a puff pastry top please see the photos. There was ONE piece of steak and the top was not puff pastry but burnt and dry. Portion sizes very small for the price. Please see photo of the Description of my meal and compare it to the photo.

I've been going to the Spencer Arms now for over 10 years and I have to say it's always a great experience. It's a lovely cosy welcoming pub which has a nice garden for the summer or a well laid out traditional dining area inside. The service is always great with friendly staff and the food, especially the 7 hour roast rib on a Sunday is beautiful. All in all it's a great pub and I would like to say a special thanks to Kath who really made us feel welcome on our last visit for my sons birthday.

We have always had a great time at The Spencer Arms and tonight was no exception! Roast was beautifully cooked, arrived with a full plate of vegetables and potatoes, generous portion of meat and with a wonderfully rich gravy and huge Yorkshire! Our daughter’s meal from the children’s menu was also generous and delicious! The puddings were to die for and the service was attentive and warm without being over-bearing. The background music also goes towards creating a friendly, comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. Great value for money too!

This is a very beautiful, well looked after place to come. I visit here as often as I can throughout the year. Stopped in for some breakfast on a long drive up north. Ordered 2 x breakfast wrap meals which came out promptly. Everything was piping hot and fresh, and exactly what we needed to keep us going for the day. The restaurant area was a little untidy and we did have to hunt for a table, which was disappointing considering how quiet it was at that time. Otherwise, everything was good!

Clean rest stop facility. McDonald's foods are consistent in US and UK. You can always depend on consistent taste if you have an urge for a hamburger.
Mike W — Google review
The best mcdonald's experience I've ever had, lightning fast service with a smile. I had an order with 4 items and it was ready within about 1 minute of me paying, I couldn't believe it. Food is hot (cheesy bacon flatbread not burnt as it often is). All around 10/10. A welcome outlier in the world of slow fast food restaurants.
Jack R — Google review
I am extremely disappointed with the service I received at this McDonald's location. The staff, who appeared to be predominantly teenagers, demonstrated a complete lack of professionalism and competence. My order was incomplete, missing two packs of mozzarella sticks and a Mayo Chicken. When I reported the discrepancy, I was met with immediate disbelief and accusations of dishonesty. The manager claimed that CCTV footage of a sealed bag proved the order was fulfilled. This claim was made within five minutes of my complaint, making it highly improbable that they had thoroughly reviewed the footage. It is absurd to suggest I would fabricate missing items like mozzarella sticks and a Mayo Chicken. I requested a full refund, which was eventually granted, but the entire experience was incredibly frustrating. The manager's handling of the situation was unacceptable. He accused me of lying, despite the illogical nature of the accusation. I have dash cam footage that corroborates my account, showing me checking the bag, comparing it to the receipt, and returning to the restaurant. I strongly advise against patronizing this location. The staff are rude, and the manager lacks basic logical reasoning and customer service skills. This branch is actively losing customers due to mismanagement. For McDonald's senior management: Please review the CCTV footage from 21:49 to 22:05. I urge you to reconsider the employment of this manager, as their behavior is detrimental to your brand. They require either immediate dismissal or comprehensive retraining. This individual is actively damaging your business.

What a joke! 15 minutes to be served a portion of large fries. McDonalds may have paid millions to put an efficient serving system in place but it has one major flaw ….zero COMMON SENSE !

For day 5, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Castle Ashby Gardens. Castle Ashby Gardens, located near Northampton, is a stunning 35-acre garden set within a 10,000-acre estate. The gardens feature various styles including Italian gardens with beautiful beds and borders, a butterfly garden filled with insect-friendly plants, an arboretum, and nature trails. Visitors can also explore the 1872 orangery and enjoy the menagerie with meerkats and marmosets. Additionally, there's a children's play area to entertain younger guests.
BEAUTIFUL! I can't believe there is a hidden gem like this in Northampton, went out with a few friends and the gardens were so stunning, we had a lovely picnic. The gardens were so nice that we forgot there was a zoo, definitely making a second trip 🙌
S.J K — Google review
not bad, but not very interesting, not worth paying for the entrance fee family ticket 37 pounds. My opinion the ticket price is 5 pounds per person or free. Come to have a picnic, but they don't allow you to play bambinton. I don't know why.

First visit here and what a beautiful place. Lovely gardens, lots to see. Friendly staff. Saw a hummingbird moth whilst visiting, so that was a bonus. Cafe in site, and space for a picnic if you want to take your own food.

well-kept facility. beautifully much to see. no one will be bored. large playground for children, animals. area for dogs without leashes. delicious cookies in the caffee.
Karolina C — Google review
Nice gardens with interesting architecture. One bit was a former greenhouse now with a fountain, followed by a Orangery. There is a pair of Birmingham Houses. Also a Menagerie a mini zoo with Meerkat and other animals. There is a café near the car park, a play area for kids, and a ice cream hut with friendly staff. You can see the house but it's not open to the public, but the parish church is open for a quick look around. Also an arboretum of trees to walk though with pair of old stone bridges with a long pond. One bit was dry in summer 2025 after the drought.
Elliott B — Google review
Absolutely stunning and peaceful estate, perfect for a family day out. The grand tree-lined driveway creates a beautiful first impression, with free parking, clean facilities, and a welcoming tearoom offering drinks, cakes, and light meals on the terrace. The grounds surround Castle Ashby, a magnificent Elizabethan-style mansion built in the late 16th century, later enhanced with classical architectural features. Its historic presence adds depth and elegance to the entire visit. A short walk from the entrance takes you to the orangery, built in the 19th century in a refined Victorian Italianate style. Inside, you'll find a tranquil pond with fish, lush exotic plants, and classical sculptures that match the era's aesthetics. Nearby stands the medieval Church of St Mary Magdalene, connected by a lovely woodland path that leads to an 18th-century terracotta bridge. Just past the bridge, there is a covered observation hut with two large benches and an information panel to help you identify local fish and bird species in the water below. Continuing your walk, you’ll reach a charming small animal zoo—undoubtedly the highlight for many visitors. The meerkat enclosure is a joy to watch, and you’ll also see parrots, goats, pigs, ducks, and tiny monkeys. After leaving the zoo, the path leads through a lavender-filled alley and loops back toward the orangery. The full visit takes about two hours, and bringing a picnic blanket and snacks is highly recommended. The grounds close at 4 PM, and entry is £14 per adult, which is well worth it for the history, nature, and relaxing atmosphere. A truly memorable and enriching experience.
Andrzej S — Google review
A beautifully scenic place, such a hidden gem and not too far away from Northampton Town centre. You could easily spend a few hours here, but be aware gates close at 4pm. There's lots to see and do, and even a small cafe on entry! Perfect for a summer's day out. Adult tickets cost £13 online, or £14 if you just show up. There is a small but lovely shopping area 5 minutes around the corner too!
James G — Google review
Visited on a Monday afternoon and thoroughly enjoyrd, walked round with a smile on my face. Beautiful grounds and planting, including orangery, arboretum and menagerie of animals. A cafe serving lunch and cakes at the entrance too. Would highly recommend.

History Museums
Abington Park Museum, located in the tranquil Abington Park in Northampton, is housed within a 500-year-old manor and offers an immersive experience into the history of the Northamptonshire Regiment and leather design. The museum showcases a wide array of displays including fine art and archaeological items that highlight the town's rich heritage. Situated conveniently in the heart of Northampton, within Abington Park, it is easily accessible from the town center and surrounding areas.
It's very good and important place

One of the best parks to spend time as family! We visited a park yesterday, which is a 40-minute drive from us but we didn'tt regret. It's a huge park with two playgrounds for kids, large areas for walking and picnicking, and a small lake. There were two ice cream trucks and a bounce castle, which made my little boy very happy. Across the road, there’s a small museum and a small bird area. Additionally, there's a nice café offering a selection of cakes and food too. This part of the park also features a small stage with live music, a basketball court, a rose garden, a lovely church, and another large park area. My boy enjoyed feeding the squirrels in the park. Parking is a bit tricky but we found a space on road next to park which is for free. The only downside was the toilets. The restrooms near the kids' playground were closed, and the only available facility in the other part of the park was small, old, and dirty. Despite this, I still give the park five stars because it's beautiful and offers so many activities.

Visited Abington Park Museum on a sunny afternoon and was pleasantly surprised. The museum, housed in a beautiful 16th-century manor, offers a fascinating glimpse into Northampton's history, including exhibits on the Northamptonshire Regiment and local life. It's free to enter, making it a great addition to a day out in the park. The surrounding Abington Park is perfect for a leisurely stroll or picnic, with its lakes, aviary, and well-maintained gardens. A lovely spot to relax and soak in some local culture.

Lovely park and museum (open Sat-Sun) with free entry. Historic building, and the area's history explained with interesting displays and artefacts. Don't miss the lakes, ponds and water tower further into the park. Refresh in the cafe - a little pricey but quality food and drink.

Fantastic little free museum in a lovely setting. Only real came to see the history of the Northamptonshire Yeomanry as my Grandad served with them during the war. Parking is on the street but no restrictions. Free to enter. The part on the Yeomanry was expansive and detailed. They also had a part of the house and the park which was interesting too. No shop or cafe but toilets

A very interesting place for those who want to learn about military history, but not only that, my children were very interested in everything they saw, free entry, whoever wants can donate at the exit.

Visited an Arts and crafts fair at the Museum. Lots of unusual crafts but what caught my eye was the stall on the first floor with some unique handmade crafts run by friends and two cousins. "Purely Pastels" by Tracy Rood - exquiste fine art painting and drawings of animals and scenes. "Bootalishous: made from cute Wellington Boots with a plant/flower display in the centre. It's also on a hand carved and laquared log base. A handmade Yoga bag with pockets by cousin Diane. Gift bags filled with unique items. Authentic horseshoes So much to look at...and be inspired by

Catholic church
Church
Northampton Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral Church of St Mary and St Thomas, is a significant Catholic cathedral in Northampton, United Kingdom. It was built in the 19th century on the site of an earlier medieval church and holds historical importance dating back to the 1829 Catholic Emancipation Act. The Gothic Revival architecture features impressive stained glass installations and arches that create a serene atmosphere for worship and reflection.
A truly beautiful place to photograph a wedding! Northampton Cathedral has stunning architecture and a peaceful, spiritual atmosphere. As a photographer, the lighting and details inside made for amazing ceremony photos. Always a joy to shoot here! Highly recommend it. 🙏
Borcila P — Google review
Even though this is a cathedral but it's smaller in size, architecture is basic, overall facilities are not like cathedral at all. To me it's more like a church which is bit bigger in size. It's not one of the main highlight to see, but good to visit. Interior is simple and peaceful. They do have limited parking space. So if you are visiting on Sunday make sure you plan it accordingly.
Prashant S — Google review
This is a place of worship and some of the reviews here are not relevant. When attending mass we go there for Jesus Christ not for the colour of the building or how big it is or how warm it is. Much focus is needed on God not all the artwork. This is my local Cathedral and the Lord is ever present at work in his Church, comments about how old the architecture is and all sorts is and about monetary items is not right if you are looking for some place to view then go to a museum the Cathedral is a place of worship please remember that and about parking well people are desperate to get in so sometimes it’s busy so what arrive earlier it’s simple. I love the Catholic Cathedral the church is a place of peace, love, forgiveness all the goodness the Lord offers in his presence are there.
T ! — Google review
Organization of the cathedral for First Holy Communion. Very unorganized management. The women who were there were very redheads, the children were stressed out, the parents were very disappointed with how we were treated by the management. We asked if we could bring a candle for the child to the First Holy Communion, because it is a custom in the Christian Church, the lady replied that it was a "Polish tradition" to bring candles to the consecration that there were no such customs in the cathedral. I was shocked when she said it, it does not matter if you come from Poland, Lithuania, Romania or another country, it is the Christian Church and the rules are the same. In my opinion, preparing a child for the sacraments is very unsatisfactory because I do not feel comfortable here. I wanted children to have good memories because it's their day, but unfortunately history likes to repeat itself and the older staff should be more nice and caring, because with this behavior they deter people who come to pray to God.
Muminek260 S — Google review
The Cathedral is beautiful inside and out with a lovely garden. It has a large car park at the front of the Cathedral with plenty of spaces to park. The excellent toilet facilities are also located in the car park. It was my very first visit to the Cathedral.

I am so pleased to have visited the Catholic Cathedral of Our Lady Immaculate and St Thomas of Canterbury today . I found it to be a very pleasant and peaceful experience a break from the mad world we live in today . The staff I spoke to were very nice and Cafe 1850 next door was great . It has links to three heroes of mine, St Thomas of Canterbury , from my old stomping ground , St Felix from my present, and the indomitable Augustus Welby Pugin . Not meaning to exclude the obvious of course, I don't wish to be struck down just yet . Firstly built as a small chapel in 1825 with materials from the old St Andrews Priory which formerly owned the land . In 1844/45 a Cathedral nave was built by A.W.Pugin the man himself who dedicated it to St Felix . Felix of Burgundy or of Dunwich, whichever you prefer was the first Bishop of the East Angles reportedly . This was later added to by Augustus's son Edward . It was extended even further in 1959 designed by A Herbert and again later . Some may say Pugin designs are an acquired taste well I love them all . Inside Northampton Cathedral is airy, and bright with a fantastic wooden beamed roof . You will also find some lovely stained glass windows and a great statue of Thomas of Canterbury himself ! Not forgetting the one of Our Lady of course as said previously I don't wish to be struck down today . The grounds outside are rather small but certainly beautiful . I loved the carved wooden Crucifix and a beautiful memorial garden . I shall have to try and return in spring . I certainly enjoyed my visit and got to say a prayer for Mum and Dad R.I.P. Oh yes I kind of wondered what that strange watch tower in the roof was ?

Bradlaugh Fields & Barn is a delightful green oasis nestled behind a local Morrisons on Kettering Road in Northampton. This former golf course has become a beloved spot for dog walkers and nature enthusiasts alike, especially during the pandemic when many locals discovered its charm. With various entrances and ample free parking, it offers diverse terrain that caters to all dogs, making it an ideal place to stretch your legs while enjoying the great outdoors.
Bradlaugh Fields & Barn is the perfect place for a peaceful walk, whether you're out enjoying nature, taking the kids for some fresh air, or bringing your dog along (on a lead, of course!). The beautiful forest paths, open green spaces, and rich wildlife make it a wonderful escape from the busy city. It’s well-maintained, quiet, and a great spot to unwind and reconnect with nature. I absolutely love visiting—it's a hidden gem for families, nature lovers, and responsible dog walkers!

Beautiful place to walk ur dogs. Very peaceful and a lovely little cafe in the middle..
Chellie H — Google review
Beautiful area, open space, with lots of nature to see and well looked after. Visited regulary by locals who all know each other, it has a really nice community spirit. The barn is a lovely friendly place on a Saturday morning to have a coffee - ran by volunteers. The field by the barn is usually used by families and children during the day. A lovely local regulary paints small stones and hides them around the barn area for the children (and adults) to find. A great children's play park, and loads of trees and areas to explore. The barn itself runs numerous groups and events, all detailed on their Facebook page. The top fields are mostly child free and a great place to walk, expecially with your dog. Again lots of open space for ball throwing and dogs to run and play. Nathan, a local dog trainer and behaviourist, does dog walks on a Saturday morning attended by dozens of people. With no close roads for parents or dog owners to be overly concerned about, friendly locals and with its green flag status, Bradlaugh fields and Barn is a gem of a place.

Sywell Aviation Museum, located at the Sywell Aerodrome, offers a small but fascinating showcase of local aviation history. Housed in a Quonset hut, the museum features vintage planes outside and takes visitors on a journey through the rich history of aviation from its earliest days to the RAF in WWII and beyond. The museum has a vintage ambiance that appeals to both history enthusiasts and those fascinated by the invention of flight.
Absolutely amazing collection of artifacts relating to the history of Sywell Aerodrome, munitions, life during the second world war and aviation archaeology. This small but fascinating collection is curated by enthusiastic and friendly volunteers. As a budding amateur archaeologist I was intrigued by the collections of aircraft remains and the archaeological origins of the museum. John, as one of the archaeologists to excavate them, very kindly talked me through each dig. If, like me, you like to immerse yourself in each display, this free to enter museum will take around an hour and a half to two hours to visit.

The restaurant's lovely decor and great atmosphere make it an ideal setting for private events such as baby showers and birthdays. Relaxing atmosphere that’s nicely decorated. I was worried it was too nice for us with kids but staff were really welcoming. Brunch was yummy and great portion sizes. Nice variety of food available. Little kids play section with sensory bits and mini kitchen.

A must-visit for anyone craving a brunch that wows.

Rachel B — Google review
Booked to go for a birthday family dinner. It’s definitely somewhere I will try again. When we booked, there was another really big party there, the restaurant realistically should have been booked out as it was a big party with a lot of children, that is the only reason I’m giving it a 3 for atmosphere, when I go back, this will I’m hopeful, change. However, service was great, the staff was really lovely, it’s a nice place and can see it does good brunches. The food was really good, we got the sharing board as a starter and main wise, we each had a different one, the one thing we did find was that the food was a little cold. The duck was cooked really well (tho also a little cold unfortunately) and maybe a little too salty but was still really enjoyable. I will definitely try this place out again, they also do jazz evenings which I can imagine are fun!

Diners rave about the fresh and flavorful dishes on offer; from Mediterranean fusion delights to standout items like their delicious hoummus and chicken supreme.
My friend and I always go for a coffee here which we love! However we had a breakfast today, it was delicious! Not too expensive either apart from the glass of juice which was too small for the price, but i will definitely be coming back here again. A very nice place for breakfast , the food is always fresh and tasty, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere makes you want to come back. Unfortunately, the prices are definitely too high around £60 for breakfast with coffee and a mini dessert is just too much. That’s why we can’t visit too often. We’ll probably drop by from time to time though, maybe after payday 😉

Absolutely fantastic. Went for tapas and cocktails and was not disappointed. The pork belly bites were out of this world. Without doubt the most perfectly cooked pork belly I've ever eaten. Everything was fresh and didn't leave you feeling heavy or bloated. The cocktails were done exquisitely and we watched the bartender make them with passion. Great atmosphere. Our new favourite spot and we can't wait to go back there. Lovely hidden gem, just what Northampton needs.

I'm honestly so disappointed and feel ripped off never going back No wonder there are no english fish and chips shops left this is unacceptable 😢

I've just been here for the first time. All I got was a portion of cheesy chips, but they were great. Chips nicely thick cut with a crisp to them and really hot, with plenty of cheese put on the top. Came in a good quality box and very good portion size. The rest of the food I saw also looked great and it was very busy, so that says it all. 5 stars from me. 👍🏻

Lovely food, at very decent prices. This is a reasonably priced with reasonable quality fish. Nick's Plaice is of a high standard all around. Keir berry clean and tidy and had been kept running by the lively members of staff....

The best chippy in town. The lady serving is a fantastic asset to the business. She is very polite. Very welcoming. And always has a smile on her face!!! The food is just outstanding! The fish and chips are freshly cooked to order. Absolutely class!!!

⭐ 5 Stars ⭐ Absolutely delicious fish and chips from Nick’s Plaice! Friendly service and proper traditional chips — crispy, fluffy, and full of flavour. Highly recommend if you want a top-notch chippy!

I had a lunchtime special - small cod, chips & mushy peas (not forgetting a proper slice of lemon for the fish!) It was all freshly cooked, and was an appropriate sized portion for me. All of it tasted great - cod was white and flaky with crisp batter, and the chips were golden and not soggy. It was a real indulgent treat at lunchtime. The staff were polite and friendly too. Recommended!

Very personable service. Both Nick and the lady serving took the time to speak with us in a warm and friendly manner. Making our order fresh with only a few minutes before closing time. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was lovely. Would recommend and encourage people to support this local independent business.

Pub
Located in the picturesque village of Brafield-on-the-Green near Northampton, The Red Lion is a 17th-century British pub offering a blend of traditional charm and contemporary dining experience. The interior boasts stone walls, wooden floors, and county maps adorning the walls. Outside, there's an alfresco dining area with outdoor games for entertainment.
Very nice pub and lovely atmosphere. For me the food is the best part, we come here all the time and it’s never disappointed once. Also the owner is super friendly! I would highly recommend the themed nights that they do as it’s fun to try different fusion dishes.

Stopped by for an early evening meal and wanted to sit outside. We were thinking about pubs with nice outdoor seating areas and remembered this one. Had some nibbles to start then had three very nice mains. A classic Caesar salad with chicken red Thai curry with chicken and Sticky Korean Glazed Pork Belly, all great meals. I would recommend any of these.

We went last night for the set Valentine's menu, it was absolutely gorgeous 😍 we also did the wine pairing which was offered. The meal was beautiful, presentation fantastic, staff very nice and attentive, but not too intrusive. The owner is a lovely guy, who takes the time to have a natter with you, love this, made to feel very welcome. This is our third time of visiting and really looking forward to going again soon. Please pass on our thanks to your chef and kitchen brigade as the food was outstanding 👌

Thank you guys for a great night. We came close to the closing time and they were very kind to still service, and serve was very well. That steak was very good we did not expect it to be that good, especially since, they had to rush because we came late . It was well done juicy chewy but definitely cooked well.

We visited this restaurant with friends. The place was very cosy and not that busy for Sunday night. We have been politely met and escorted to our table. Our waitress Chloe greater us friendly and patiently took our order and even wrote the cocktail menu because the actual menu was not available at that point, really good effort. The food was great, just worth mentioning that not all items on the menu were available, but we were notified straight away. Sunday roast was great, Caesar salad portion was largely full of flavour. Overall great experience 9.5/10

I am a little picky when it comes to Sunday Roasts in Restaurants however this Sunday lunch was superb. I had the roast beef and it was cooked very well. My wife had the pork which was also very tasty. The vegetables were also cooked superbly, not hard but not soggy, just right. All in all, along with the excellent service, it was very good. Prices were also very reasonable

We visited for a Sunday lunch and booked to use the new Garden room. It was very pleasant, light and airy, and comfy for temperature. Staff were all very good, and we felt, looked after. Would look to another visit in the future. One slight comment, the food could ideally be hotter.

It's been a long time since our last visit here. Upon arrival we entered the bar area which was lovely, the staff were very friendly and attentive. We were shown to our table and given menus. The only issue they we had with this was the choice. On the website the choice is a lot bigger than in the pub. The manager really needs to update this We did order our meals one was 5oz steak with blue cheese sauce fries the other was a chicken burger in a brioche bun, rum sauce monterack cheese tomato lettuce fries, both dishes were really good. I would recommend this pub it's good☺️
