A beautiful city with a great multicultural variety, a beautiful mix of nationalities living harmoniously. Music and art of all kinds, it is very pleasant to spend an evening in the old and beautiful center. We stayed overnight at Astoria Hotel clean and pleasant.

Just lovely☺️Should check the story behind it. This small city is so peaceful. Really enjoyed walking around here.

It’s as beautiful as reported. A delicate statue of a girl with goose. Beware if the numerous tourists who will take selfies and block your view.

Gänseliesel, also referred to as "Goose Girl," is a historical fountain in Göttingen notable for the PhD graduates at the University of Göttingen who are required, as part of an old tradition in Göttingen, to go and kiss her as a token of their love on the day of graduation. Despite the fact that it was built in 1901, it has undergone minor restorations. Every time I visit the city center, I love to walk by this fountain.

Nice place to hangout

The place has a history and a very beautiful architecture. It is one of the oldest buildings of Göttingen and the place has a really nice ecstatic vibe. The sound echo in the whole theater is really pleasant as expected but on the other side seating positions (or seating plan) on the top floor is a bit terrible as you cannot see anything, if you get the corner rows. ADVICE : Always book centre rows if possible for the best experience.

Have been visiting a piece for children: Jim Button and the Wild 13. Was great for our 7 year old. The ensemble was fun, some decent acting fitting the audience. Stage sets were designed with love and the original book in mind. Story needed some abbreviation to fit into a 80 minute play, but that was handled well. Overall worth a visit.

Lovely small theatre in the beautiful town of Gottinghem.

Lovely venue, comfy seating. We saw an Orchester concert for children which was excellent. I didn't care for the photos of past performances on the walls of the stairwells..

Amazing place in Göttingen. Opens at 6pm only and the Bier is just the best. I suggest the IPA and the Göttingen Ale.

One of my favorite places in Göttingen. The atmosphere is very good, especially the employees are extremely polite and fast. In general, you will not have a problem finding a place. You should definitely stop by to try local flavors.

If you are in Göttingen and you don't know were to get a drink try out this bar. The design is great, there are multiple place to, couches, tables in the corner, chairs, big tables, smoking area and of course bar. Also they have a variety beers. Each with it's own character and flavor, that you won't get in most other bars.

This is a great place. Service is very friendly. It takes a little longer when you sit downstairs, but it is no problem. They brew their own beer that is amazing and offers 6 or more different types of beers. Location is directly in the centre. We go there very often and everyday is a new, interesting experience.

Good selection of beers, also local. Prices are bit high in comparison to other bars. Service can get somewhat confused when it's full. The last time the waiter forgot about our orders a couple of times. Still a nice place to go for a relaxed beer.

The nautibar has some fantastic design details. The atmosphere at the entrance room is great. I love the worked iron pending all other the place, and the beautiful counter... However, the big room (exception the last corner) and the downstairs do not really match the entry room comfort. The beers are quite good. Being craft, depends on the time and what you get. The IPA is fresh and satisfyingly bitter. Found the dunkel A bit sour the last time - but again, its craft. Some time ago I found it super nice. Why the three starts? For the rest of the menu. It is incredibly boring. With a interior design like that and the whole space (even only inside in winter) I would have completely rethought sometimes that would match the great location and beer.

We enjoyed the play, thought the actors did a good job. I was impressed with the direction. Good showing for a small city! Audience seating layout is also good.

Culture-wise this is supposed to be the first address considering theatre en vogue! They run a comprehensive program of different shows and a great variety of genres. Good old theater.

The University’s old botanical garden is beautiful, especially the greenhouses. Paths to walk around and some benches to sit on. Unfortunately we couldn’t explore some as they were locked but I assume that’s because of the weather. Would love to visit again to explore them! There are no tickets and it’s open to explore during the working hours. There’s also a small cafe at the entrance.

Loved walking through the gorgeous plants! In October, the outdoor plants were becoming dormant in many cases, but I was even shocked at how many were still in fantastic shape despite the chill! The indoor plants were of course in prime condition. A couple of the buildings seemed locked but most were accessible.

Very picturesque greenhouses and lovely outdoor gardens. Can only recommend going mornings on the week before big crowds!

I might not be the person for this, but the garden looked not well maintained or at least a bit boring. Well, at least it was free

Beautiful Garden. Unfortunately some of the plants are dying probably because of the Hitze. And was surprised when we had Spaziergang, there were two guys sitting on the bench enjoying their weeds. They hide it everytime people pass them by but the smells cannot escape noses.

The food and restaurant itself was astonishing. The staff was very polite, but their service skills were rather limited - it took long for our plates to get taken off and they kept forgetting our order. However, I would still very much recommend it.

Loved it . Was there for friends birthday and there was this Moroccan waitress who was a great sport as well . I’d definitely want to come there for my birthday as well

Came here for the Christmas buffet, and was really nice. The ambience was informal and family friendly but still, not noisy and chaotic. The food was excellent, we had roasted goose and very delicious gnocchi. It didn't seem expensive for a Christmas buffet but I am unaware of the prices for normal days. The staff was very nice and friendly, and the place itself is very nicely decorated. I would come back without a doubt :)

A good place for a good meal with a good view right at the heart of the city center. I'd also recommend to sit on the outside tables on a warm day for coffee and dessert at the evening and enjoy the busy-lively view. The service is very friendly. The prices are a bit high but justified when compared to the quality offered.

Excellent atmosphere in a historical building. The waiters really take care of every special need, and the food is really good. A place to visit in Goettingen.

Firstly it is absolutely essential to make a reservation here so I would recommend calling beforehand. With a reservation we were seated immediately within a few minutes and everything was easy going. The decor and ambience of the restaurant is very cozy, the staff are friendly and nice. Being a very popular restaurant it was super crowded and noisy, but I think that is also part of the experience. Unfortunately the downside to this, meant our food took more than an hour to arrive, which was a bit disappointing. Nevertheless, the food seemes authentic, tasty and flavorful we tried both the pasta and pizza, I would personally reccomend trying one of their flavourful pasta dishes if it's your first time there. The portions are good, but it is a bit pricey. Just be sure to make a reservation. 😉🙂

By far the best Italian food In Göttingen

The waiter was very rude Pizza too salty We wanted to choose the wine, the waiter said that we have to ask him directly and proposed us red or white, he didn't know the name, region, cépage, etc .

Certainly one of the best Italian restaurant in Göttingen. If you put yourself in a chill state of mind and just enjoy hanging out with your friends with excellent wine and delicious food then the small issues with the service won’t bother you.

Good food, great service. The chef is an Italian man with charisma and flair. We stepped in without knowing what to expect. Expectations greatly exceeded. Tip: let the man make you something nice. We didn’t regret it.

The food is decent. The place, however, is extremely loud with most of the noise actually made by the stuff. Also, getting a waiter's attention felt quite challenging every time, it feels like this place is understaffed.

We came here for a company dinner (party of 8) and tried a mix of tapas and main courses. The food was very delicious, everyone enjoyed their dishes. The service was friendly but a bit slow – we had to remind the staff several times about water, drinks, and other requests. Maybe they just had a long day and could use a bit more energy (or espresso). The restaurant itself didn’t leave much of a lasting impression in terms of atmosphere, and the toilets (upstairs) could really use some renovation. Overall: good place if you’re looking for tasty food in Göttingen, but don’t expect a “wow” experience beyond that.

It was my friends birthday yesterday 13/6 and I had asked via email, if the restaurant (Tapas) could arrange a surprise birthday cake. The response was almost immediate with a wonderful "we can do anything you want" attitude. The Tapas food was delicious and reasonably priced. The staff friendly but professional. The cake arrrved, with perfect timing and was delicious ❤️ I can't thank you enough for a memorable evening. We will be back. Mike

The place is nice. The food is good. The service could be better. I think in restaurants of this category there could be a better wine list.

The food was excellent regarding quality and preparation. We also had an excellent wine. The service was very attentive and friendly as well. The only potential minus points were that the courses arrived pretty slowly and at our table it was a bit drafty. Overall it was still a great experience which I would recommend to everyone who is not in a hurry and who is ok with spending more than average on a dinner.

The tapas section is very interesting. Also the wine can be combined sapiently. The restaurant section is not my thing. Tried a couple of times, and never liked. However, the service is impeccable and warm!

We were there yesterday — it was a great experience. I had the butter chicken, which came with complimentary rice. The spices were perfectly balanced — I really enjoyed it! The ambience of the restaurant felt authentically Indian, which enhanced the overall dining experience. Recommendation: Don’t forget to order the garlic bread!

We ordered food for six persons today. It was a very disappointing experience. No matter what you order everything has the same taste and texture. . Looks like they use CAN food and food colors to prepare and cheat every dish. The spices and cheese looks depressed watery gravy and gave a bad smell. Naan was just a flat bread with oil and garlic. Review only for the indoor swimming pool. Overall - one of the worst experiences of service and facility with unreasonable price. 1. Too Expensive In comparison with other cities, Göttingen basically has only this pool. Thus, Monopoly can happen. 2~3 times expensive. No seasonal ticket. Time limit-overtime charge. Just a typical example of the service in Germany, 'there is no other options...' 2. Relatively Small It should have at least 2 more lanes. Technically 5 lanes are available but for swimming, usually only 3 lanes, two are the loop which makes you keep moving with no your pace. The other two to the windows are usually occupied by private lesson or water Spaziergang talking people. 2 lanes to the shower booth are for diver, aqua aerobic, or life guard lesson. So I've never come over there. 3. Unhygienic You can see hair balls with dust in the water for some days even more than a week. I know one outdoor pool where cleans everyday with the machine, and even 80 eur for seasonal ticket (5 months). We pay lots but worse service than small town pool. Just quite filthy. 4. Too many private lessons One time, one guy asked me that he wants me to move. So I asked, if it is the official lesson. He couldn't answer at all. One or two lanes to the right side (window side) is always busy due to this kind of selfish lesson. 5. No instruction or supervision I can see there are some lifeguard or staff. But seems like they don't really do their roles. They are just talking each other and chilling. One lady didn't care of other people, so she argued with other people for two days as I saw. Also no control to the private lesson people. Chaos can be seen quite often. 6. Relatively Dark In door pool can be darker than Freibad but here, this pool is quite darker than others. I've visited around 10 indoor pools in Germany and some Outdoor pools. The only reason I come to this place and swim paying 120 eur per month is, cause this is the only pool. A friend of mine who is from this town said, this place has the best sauna throughout Germany. I really hope so.

I was there on Friday with people coming with their full clothes into the water. ….I thought Germans care about cleanness!…Do German know how dirty it is to go into swimming with full clothes on??…unless they took proper shower and had their clothes out of washing machine before entering Water which I do doubt!…This is absolutely ridiculous and disgusting to allow people to enter any swimming pool with their full clothes on!! What is wrong with these people allowing this nonsense! . This should never be allowed in any public Swimming pool. We have to take a shower and clean ourselVes before entering water, but others can come with full clothes on! Why?? Isn’t this disrespectful to us???

The sauna experience was OUTSTANDING! Thank you so much, I plan to visit again soon! I went on a Tuesday evening, the saunas had plenty of room, the food in the cafe was Greek and very tasty, there was a real fire in the seating area and plenty of space to relax. All this magic for a 22 euro ticket, just amazing, keep up the good work!

We were there for six hours with the kids, and they enjoyed themselves very much. The place is also enjoyable for adults with two fun slides and a heatet outdoor area.

I had a great time with my friend in both the indoor and outdoor pools and the sauna. The staffs are also friendly. Definitely a good place I will be visiting often to hang out with my friends. And there was discount for students too 😉

I bought a €50 voucher here for my friend because I wanted him to be able to relax in the sauna world after a stressful few weeks. He’s a student doing his masters degree. When he tried to redeem the voucher they charged him the adult instead of concession fare despite him being eligible for the concession fare, and he requested it and showed his ID. Then they refused to resolve the problem when he raised it. He left the establishment feeling frustrated. It ruined his whole evening, probably because he didn’t want to waste my money. He was overcharged a relatively small amount (€5) but it resulted in what I wanted to be a relaxing, fun experience for him to be very frustrating, and I will never buy a voucher here again knowing what I know now. This establishment obviously doesn’t care about the customer’s experience. How hard can it be to fix your own mistake to retain a customer?

Definitely a place one should visit in Göttingen. It's a really beautiful place with a nice scenic view. Especially during summers the whole place is filled with people making it very lively and a wonderful place to barbecue and chill with friends or family alike. A must visit in Göttingen :)

It’s truly a beautiful and worthwhile museum to visit. Entry is free, and it can be explored in about 1 to 1.5 hours. It covers a wide range of topics—from physics to geography—and is very informative. There are also explanations in English. I highly recommend trying the *"How can we save the forest?"* experience.

Very nicely laid out museum with many sections. We didn't fully understand them all, but there was a lot of diversity of sections. Some quite interactive too! It is free to enter and you can use an app or their device to have a verbal tour. There is also a cafe and lockers to put your things. You just need a 1 or 2 € coin which you get back. A good experience.

A museum for natural science nerds! The entrance is free. Make sure to visit the huge whale hanging from the ceiling of the cafeteria!

Pictures do not render justice. It is not a museum, not a collection, but a thematically organised journey across collections, museums, the town, and the University. It is a meaningfully realised building, interactive and aesthetically very pleasant. It is definitely worthy of (more than just one) visit.

Review *only* about the Mini Mathematikum. Right in the city centre, open on Sundays, free. The indication says it’s for kids from 3 to 8 years and I think it’s accurate. The room it’s a good size, with good heating, good natural light and with enough activities to spark interest and entertain the kids without being overwhelming. It’s in fact “mini”, so after about 1 hour everything has been thoroughly enjoyed and it’s time to go :) A sign on the wall said the exhibition is changed once a year to keep it new. The museum shop has some experiments and books for kids at reasonable prices. Negatives: the acoustics were very annoying. The sound of playing children was resonating in the very tall room and it was very tiring very quickly for everyone. Definitely some acoustic isolation needs to be added.

I've really enjoyed the Forum Wissen. I couldn't easily get the app because my Google Play is foreign which meant I couldn't do the interactive things but I don't think it mattered. I believe I could have borrowed a phone from reception. Really nicely curated and some very interesting aspects. I think in some ways things were arranged a bit randomly, but I guess the point is to explore science and knowledge more than it is to display a thorough range of artifacts. I've had a good time and the cafe is really nice. Very comfy seat and a good hot chocolate!

As I have read in another review: it's okay but nothing special. Very crowded around dinner time. Didn't have to wait very long for my calamari rings. The lam chops came with a lot of fat this increases the taste but not so healthy.... Overall it's fine.

Asked waiter for recommendation and he suggested #51 Gyro Special. It came as a good size mound of chicken gyro meat, a slab of feta cheese, yogurt, parsley, and fries. All in all it was very good. Waiter was kind abs friendly. Great outdoor seating by the public pool. Nice dinner. Well done!

Today we had an amazing dinner there. The food was served quite fast and the service was great. The meals are delicious and quite reasonable 🤩🤩🤩. At the end the owner even gave us a good discount, which was very nice after a tiring working day. They have amazing soups and dishes. The best place for a family and friends gatherings 🥳🤩🤩🤩

Food was only fine which was surprising considering standard of decor, location and reputation. I had pork but was a bit dry and bland. Salad was good however. Service good

This place operates like low end casual restaurant. The waitress is careless about customers. I ordered Ribeye steak with medium rare. The one I got was mostly overcooked in medium well. The stone board used to serve the steak was not hot. When I finished the main course, the waitress brought the Ceviche in the end and told me she didn’t noticed that it was ready to serve. And no apology was given. The dish itself was mediocre. Nothing amazed me. For the restaurant with this price tag, I can expect much more professionalism and quality. We also went to the bar and lounge the other night. The waitress there is much more friendly and caring.

We took the Chef's choice menu for 99€ per person and were not disappointed by the dishes. Everything was delicious! Even some dishes, I normally do not really like were excellent! Compared to ordering entrée, main course and dessert, the Chef's choice menu will unfortunately cost you significantly more but it will allow you to try many different dishes at once. The service was great, the waiters were super nice and came many times to check on us. I really recommend this restaurant! I will come back but probably not take the Chef's choice again as it is a bit too expensive for what you get.

Delicious food with great service. We had an amazing dinner here and almost everything we tried was delicious. The waiters were attentive and fun. Unfortunately the dishes are quite pricey but def great. I also love the aspect of ordering dishes and then sharing everything and trying new things . They do have some great vegetarian options as well.

The restaurant was dimly lit, which created a cozy and intimate feeling that was perfect for a night out with friends or a romantic dinner for two. The quality of the food ingredients was also top-notch. The fish used in the sushi was incredibly fresh and melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and the cuts of beef used in the steak dishes were really good. Overall, I had a fantastic experience at this fusion restaurant. I appreciated the attention to detail that went into each dish and drink, and I loved the combination of Japanese and South American cuisines. If I had one suggestion, it would be to see even more fusion of these two cuisines on the menu.

Incredibly disappointed. We were excited to try some Japanese and Peruvian Fusion food, even if it were a little expensive. We tried the Chef’s recommendation. Out of some 20 things, 3 were nice (the Aubergine, the Salmon and the caramel ice cream (?) in the dessert). The rest of the food was average especially for the price charged. The cocktails were good, but quantities could have been more. Very nice and friendly service though.

Villa Cuba lives up to their name, I've never been actually to Cuba but at least of what is shown from movies, the theme is quite close, however the breakfast/brunch served is typical German. I like their friendly service, food and ambience. The bread is freshly baked and usually served warm. I would recommend it fir lazy Saturday or Sunday brunch.

Food was fine, but nothing great... Small portions in my opinion. Service was slow but since there was one single server for the whole place (!!) I cannot complain much. Ambience is nice, there wasn't much people when I was there.

The wines are very decent but the food is rather disappointing. We ordered different dishes, two soups and one casserole but they were all the very same vegetables swimming in the same thick sauce that tasted industrial. Really, canteen food can be better than that.

Highly recommend this place. Their mojitoes are the best I’ve had outside of Havana. The place is super original and atmosphere is great. You definitely feel like you’re in Cuba. On top of that the food is great tasting as well. Go for the specialty plate (for two) - you won’t regret it!

It's been a while since I've been there. Proprietor was immensely rude. Perhaps he was having a bad night. It's one of the only occasions I have returned my food (which was inedible) and he behaved disgracefully. It's a shame because it's a decent location and well presented.

We had a great time in this restaurant. They had amazing wine and we felt welcomed because of their warm behaviour. I also ordered an eggplant with mozzarella and tomato sauce which was really delicious. I would definitely go again!

Highly overrated. They had lost our reservation and initially refused to give us a table (what kind of business turns away 8 costumers?). In the meantime, the male waiter was so rude in his refusal to even consider that it might have been their mistake forgetting the reservation. Finally, they gave us a table. We all ordered our main course and three members also ordered antipasto. They served the antipasto, and 90 minutes later served the main course meaning apart from the three individuals, the rest of the group were sitting there for an hour and a half waiting for their food. Unfortunately, this was a work meeting, otherwise I would not have sat there. Then, the food arrives. I had ordered their peae pizza. It was literally bread topped with 5 paper-thin slices of pear and some underwhelming sauce. It was basically pita bread for dinner. To top this off, we had to leave pur tablw and one by one go to their desk to pay with our cards instead of the waiter bring the machine to us. And they think they are some top quality restaurant.

Good food, reasonable prices, efficient service. The food will not be insanely good, but that's not a criticism. Solidly unpretentious is, well, under-rated!
