Batavia Stad Fashion Outlet is a popular open-air complex in Lelystad, Netherlands, featuring over 250 designer stores, as well as cafes and restaurants. The outlet offers tax-free shopping and convenient on-site parking. It's a well-known attraction drawing visitors from all over the country seeking discounted high-end fashion brands and home goods. The outdoor mall provides an attractive environment for leisurely strolls and window-shopping.
Probably the best shopping area in the Netherlands. The location is in a picturesque area, 20 min bus ride from the main train station. Especially recommended to explore branded shopping stores during Sale seasons like Black Friday. Lot of eating options with a centrally located food court having multiple cuisine options. Come with purses full to leave with handful of desired goods!

It's quite out of the city. A must visit place for shopping addicts. Leading brand outlets offer huge discounts. Shoes n clothes main attractions. You have cafes n pastries also inside. Before going keep your wallet fully loaded.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I recently visited Batavia Stad Fashion Outlet, and it was a fantastic experience! This place is a shopper's paradise with a wide variety of factory outlets offering great deals and discounts. Whether you're looking for high-end brands or more affordable options, there's something for everyone. The layout of the outlet is well-designed, making it easy to navigate through the different stores. I was particularly impressed with the range of brands available, from fashion and accessories to home goods and more. The staff in each store were friendly and helpful, adding to the overall positive experience. One of the highlights of my visit was the incredible offers. Many stores had significant discounts, and I found some amazing deals that were too good to pass up. It's definitely worth visiting if you're looking to update your wardrobe or find some unique items at a fraction of the regular price. In addition to the shopping, Batavia Stad also has a variety of dining options. I enjoyed a delicious meal at one of the cafes, which was the perfect way to take a break and recharge before continuing my shopping spree. Overall, Batavia Stad Fashion Outlet is a must-visit destination for anyone who loves shopping and great deals. I highly recommend it and will definitely be returning soon!

Nice shopping village for everyone. Good Brand's and prices. My favorite is Polo Ralph Lauren.
Tjuna B — Google review
Batavia Stad Fashion Outlet in Lelystad is a beautifully designed, open-air shopping village featuring over 150 premium and designer outlets. Brands include Polo Ralph Lauren, Nike, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss, Michael Kors, and many more, offering discounts of 30–70% year-round. Set against charming Dutch architecture with cobblestone streets, outdoor seating, and landscaped spaces, the ambiance is relaxed and upscale. Shoppers can enjoy a variety of eateries, from sit-down restaurants to casual cafés and snack bars. A major highlight is the official Max Verstappen Shop, a must-visit for Formula 1 fans. It features exclusive merchandise, racing helmets, a kart, and even a real Red Bull F1 car (often the RB21) on display—perfect for selfies and memorabilia collectors. Batavia Stad combines premium fashion, scenic shopping, family-friendly dining, and motorsport excitement—making it a unique retail destination just 50 minutes from Amsterdam.
Ashish A — Google review
Nice fashion outlet with many famous brands. On Sundays are also open till 20:00 which is great! Toilets are clean considering that the place welcome many people. There are also different spots where kids can play while parents are shopping and not get bored. The outlet offers many restaurants/cafes. From time to time they have themes like this time is Mickey Mouse which fun.
Helen B — Google review
Very well-organized shopping center. It really has almost everything you need. A visit is definitely worth it.
Balint S — Google review
Nice place for an ‘uitje’ or in other words, outing. The parking here costs about EUR 5 for the day. The prices at this outlet are pretty decent. If you’re lucky, you might get crazy discounts.

Batavialand is an interactive museum in Lelystad, the capital of Flevoland, showcasing the history and culture of the Netherlands. The museum features exhibits on shipbuilding, water management, and archaeological artifacts tracing Flevoland's long history of land reclamation. Families can enjoy hands-on activities at the Nieuwland Poldermuseum, while visitors can explore a modern museum with varied exhibitions outside the city center.
A great museum full of Dutch maritime history! The replica of the Batavia ship is impressive, and the interactive exhibits make it fun for kids. Very child-friendly with hands-on activities and a playful audio tour. Perfect for a family day out!

Worthy visit. An interesting perspective on how the VOC travelled and traded in 1700's, and more so what conditions "settler" faced en-route to new frontiers.
Jeff R — Google review
What a fantastic place! The infamous mutiny brought me here but the focus is actually on shipbuilding, as close to how it was done as possible. The shipyard is well laid out with access and full view on people working their craft on model ships, wood carving, sail making, hull making... You can ask question and see the work actually being done, this is just beyond fascinating. The Batavia is bare to the bones, there's hardly any exhibits but that's actually a good thing. You really get a special experience walking down the decks, hearing the wood creaking and ducking to walk the length of the orlop deck (if I don't mistake the term!). It beggars belief how people would have fared, 300+ on these kind of ships in the middle of the seas. The museum next to the shipyard/ship was less interesting to me as it focuses more on the local history and a lot of info is in Dutch which I don't speak (shame on me!). The 60m tapestry is staggering though. Overall it's well worth a visit and I hope I'll get the chance to visit again at some point.
Christophe D — Google review
Very interesting place for people interested in maritime expeditions. Lots of history and historical artifacts related to navigation. There also big space for kids to walk around, Some live theatrical pieces for children and some snacks bars.

Really nice museum, you can see and visit old boats! And there's a delicious Lindt store with chocolates close the museum. About museum, it's great to go with a guide who explains everything!
Beatriz C — Google review
One of the best museum I have ever been to. The reason is because it's a hands on emersive experience. I wouldn't classify it as museum but an active workshop where you can learn and take part in building a ship of the past. There's a working blacksmith where you/your child can strike the iron when it's hot. A few carpenters, a rope makers and a sail maker. Plenty of things to do and plenty of people to ask questions.
Owain J — Google review
A beautiful place worth visiting and buying tickets in order to see the ship from the inside. It is very beautiful and contains a lot of details and explanation, the workers there are very friendly and nice, you will be happy after this visit and take pictures.

As non Dutch speaking, We asked if a dish is a toast . they said yes. we ordered one toast from gluten free bread, and one regular . the GF arrived as a pile of tomato's and cheese , and a bagged GF bun, still a bit frozen. the regular, a slice of bread with some Pasto and a pile of Tommatos and cheese. no toast ... we were in a hurru, so didn't complain there.
Raanan Z — Google review
We took tomato soup, eggs Benedict and veggie spaghetti bolognese - all tasted delicious! Fast and pleasant service. Totally recommend.
Nika P — Google review
Slow service, tables not cleaned before seated, no menu given while being seated. Egg Benedict subpar, egg yolk was solid. Croque Madam, egg yolk was solid. Nothing special for the prices charged.
Rene O — Google review
No one looks on comments before coming here. This place sucks. Dirty tables, slow service and lowest quality food. We ordered spaghetti bolognese and they served us a bolognese without meat, only tomato sauce. If I could give them zero star I would do so, one star is too much for the experience we had.

Day 2

Proximity is everything
For day 2, we bundled attractions like Luchtvaartmuseum Aviodrome and Natuurpark Lelystad and other places within a close range, so that the time it takes to travel between all of them is less than one hour. Combined with the average time people spend there, your day should take about 6 hours.

Luchtvaartmuseum Aviodrome is a family-friendly venue in Lelystad, offering an extensive collection of over 100 unique aircraft. Visitors can explore the historical Fokker Spin, step aboard the Constellation, and experience flying a plane in one of the simulators. The museum also features a radio room, 4D cinema, and play areas for kids.
The museum is absolutely wonderful. When I came to the Netherlands I wanted to see some aircraft, the Aviodrome was the first place to pop up. A short bus ride out of town. Situated next to an actual airport the sky had a few planes already enticing us as we walked to the door. The entrance is painted like a runway and the reception staff were brilliant. The museum is laid out in years, starting from the begining with a replica of the wright brothers flier all the way to the modern era 747s and Fokker aircraft. The highlights for me were going inside the 747, going inside the lockheed constellation (which there is a film on about how they transported this aircraft from America to Lelystad) and seeing an Antonov-2. Most of these aircraft have never been on New Zealand soil so it was a real treat to see them up close. The signs in the museum are in Dutch, German and English! A brilliant experience. There was a volunteer I met on the 747 and he was wonderfully friendly, he spoke passionately about the aircraft and especially the Constellation, it was his favourite. He made the experience just that much more exciting. He spoke about how he used to work for KLM, which gave some context to a few of the planes. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone even remotely interested in aviation. It has it all.
Nick K — Google review
Very impressive, fun family activity. The exhibition is larger than we initially expected. We bought online tickets and we went early to be able to go into the simulators but two of them in the main building have a minimum length of 160cm, so our kids weren’t able to do these. However there was still plenty to see and do such as sit in the cockpit of an old training jet. There is also a large playground outside for kids. Our Highlights: Various Fokker airplanes -“The Flying Dutchman” Space exhibition Helicopter exhibition Boeing 737 Amsterdam airport 1930- explanation of the telegraph and typing your name in Morse code Jet fighter hangar- flight simulation & exhibition“ Faster than the Sound” Do you know which British engineer invented the turbojet engine?
James O — Google review
Nice museum, the entire aviation history of the Netherlands is beautifully presented. It's interesting to see how this has changed over the past centuries. There's also plenty for kids to do to keep it interesting. The only downside was the very long line at the parking ticket machine
T&J — Google review
This museum is located on Lelystad regional airport, a very historic site for aviation. The museum itself is comprised of a larger indoor complex which houses the main "100 years of aviation" exhibition with various planes of different eras, a cinema showing a short film for kids and an outdoor area housing two enterable hangars as well as more planes, including the big 747, on the tarmac. The main exhibition area is, in my opinion, rather catered towards kids and includes a play area next to the restaurant. However, adults and avgeeks of any kind will still enjoy the multitude of planes and models on display, especially the larger planes and fully kept, enterable 747 outside. The museum itself is designed very creatively in the style of an airport terminal and was very fun to walk through. Beware that on some days, it can be quite noisy and full with visitors. Not every exhibition piece or media offers an English translation. Still, we had very much fun exploring the museum grounds and recommend a visit to every aviation enthusiast going by the area.
R. M — Google review
Amazing museum. History and layout. Massive collecting of aircraft set in diaramas of each era. Went as an adult but also it's a very kid friendly place, very interactive museum. Can't recommend enough.
Issac S — Google review
Very nice place for adults and kids. Prices of food an drinks is crazy but Jon the less we really enjoyed it. There's alot to do an see. Lots of play for the kids.
Kiara K — Google review
This was a really great trip through the development of aviation. From daVinci to modern airplanes. Everything is explained in Dutch, German and English. A lot of great exhibits in all sizes, up to a 747. We enjoyed it very much.
Matthias H — Google review
If I could award this place, I would award it with a labor of love award. It's educational, interactive, historic, and next to an "active" airport. I really enjoyed the flight simulators which is reserved for adults but there is also more than enough for the younger audience. Would recommend it for sure.

The park is home to a diverse range of animals including boar, bison, deer, Przewalski's horses, otters, storks, elk and birds of prey. Visitors can explore walking and cycling paths that wind through forests, fields and along lakes and rivers.
Amazing location for a stroll on a bike or walking. You’ll find otters and other animals, including European bisons! Very small fee (few euros) and a full day of activities! Very welcoming staff willing to explain in various languages the fauna and flora from the nature reserve. Great learning opportunity!

Big park, great for a rainy afternoon since nobody will be there. Don't go with impatient kids because the huge natural enclosures make it hard to spot the animals, which is great from their point of view! The park is dog friendly except for a few parts.
Sabrina M — Google review
Walking through the park is nice, but I found it a bit overgrown (lots of long grass and reeds). It was fairly difficult to get good views of the animals.
André K — Google review
Natuurpark Lelystad has no entrance fee, but there is a parking fee of approximately €3. Additionally, backpack routes for children cost €2.50 per child plus a €10 deposit. Tripadvisor and Nationaal Park Nieuw Land mention these details.

Oostvaardersplassen, a 56-square-kilometer nature reserve located between Almere and Lelystad, was originally intended to be an industrial area. However, the spontaneous settlement of diverse flora and fauna led to its transformation into a picturesque nature park. The reserve is home to various wildlife including birds, deer, foxes, cows, wild horses and more. Visitors can enjoy the sight of stunning wetlands, forests and beautiful flowers while walking along accessible paths.
Great place to stop and take a breather. Cute little shop that you can buy souvenirs, food and drinks. The paths themselves are clean and maintained. We did see horses. Maybe a few birds. If I’m back in the area again I would go back.

KFC, the iconic restaurant chain famous for its delicious buckets of fried chicken, offers a variety of combo meals and sides that cater to every craving. Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting one with my kids after an exciting day at Walibi. We were greeted with fast service and enjoyed our meal in a clean environment—definitely one of the best KFC locations I've experienced!
A little surprise when we saw KFC on highway. Immediately decided to take the exit and had some original chickens. They tasted very good!

Horrible place. Dirty place run by dirty people. I asked to dine in and didn't get my food on a plate (dienblad). When asked why, she told me they didn't have plates.... Maybe if they clean the place, they would have plates, which were stacked at the trash. Cleanliness, its not a priority. If you have been to this place, you need a shower. They need to hire a manager who know what cleanliness means. Disgusting!
Ashwin R — Google review
After 25 minutes of waiting I asked whether something went wrong since I saw people who ordered after me with the same items leave with their food. Then it was there within a few minutes, no excuse or anything. There were some friendly people behind the counter, but most of them can be more friendly to customers.
Jeroen W — Google review
I came at a peak. I had to wait almost 45 minutes to minutes. at no point it was announced it would be a long time. Then the corn was out. I was offered fries, which already were in the package or to wait around 20 minutes (at which point my food had been cold or eaten). they told me they had no other option (not even a. refund). To get my food and due to the stress in the kitchen, I just decided to not persue the discussion further and left. but that was a horrible service, I will not be back. Just go to the McDonald's next door, which has a much better service.
Henning W — Google review
Dirty and the staff wasn't able to serve quickly although at least 10 of them visible. The cleaning lady outside ordered smoking than cleaning. A lot of rubbish lying around everywhere....

We were with a group of students from abroad and our stay was excellent. Breakfast was good as well!! One experience we should share: the driver of our bus had a visitor bouncing on her room door at night, at least that was what she thought. It turned out to be a heron banging on her window at two in the morning! The bird was gone before she could get her camera. An hour later it happened again, another heron! Very special. Apparently a guest staying in that room fed the animals? We had ten other rooms and there nothing happened.

Interesting combined restaurant and small hotel with bungalow like accomodation. The restaurant is open till late, but breakfast on Sunday is served only from 8 o'clock.
Benjamin N — Google review
We did not stay at the hotel and only visited the restaurant at an attempt to ingest something to represent something similar to a meal. If you are looking for disappointment, look no further. Looking like a quaint motorway stop, this place has to be the most overpriced frozen microwave meals one can come across. And we paid a small fortune for it too. When the waitress asked us if we enjoyed the meal, she was not surprised when we said that it was horrible. As a matter of fact, she responded saying that she would never touch a meal in this place........ I just wished we knew that beforehand. Do not go here! Absolute waste!

Can't make any claims about the rooms, merely the restaurant and toilets. Toilets were very clean and well-equippes. Restaurant is comfy and friendly, with a good range of options. Burgers were clearly frozen but still tasty. Solid option for travellers looking for a higher quality break.

The place used to be a very good lunch establishment, but compared to a few months ago it is really disappointing. The food quality is bad, the service is getting worse. I would rather go to a sandwich store at a tank station than waste more money on bad quality food. It is a shame that this went so bad and the value for money went significantly worse. It is a shame, because it used to be their unique selling point to be above average in both food quality and service. But maybe the focus is more on the hotel now.

Rooms on water 🙂 that was fun! Love the view and room was tidy with everything you may need. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Toilet closed after 10pm even though people still out there. Regarding convenience, Netherlands is really a third level country.

Hamburger restaurant
McDonald's is a classic fast-food destination that has stood the test of time, famous for its mouthwatering burgers and crispy fries. The atmosphere can be quite bustling, especially during peak hours when cars line up eagerly to place their orders. While the surrounding area may feel a bit dimly lit at night, the efficient service ensures you won't be waiting long. Many patrons opt for the drive-through or enjoy their meals in their vehicles, with convenient trash bins provided to keep things tidy.
‏this was one of the best McDonald's in the area why I'm saying that because of the food was very very delicious and was almost fresh my experience was I went to the couple of my friends after a football match in Lily's dad in a late night and the staff was very nice with us also the prices is is good to buy a so I recommend everyone when they go to let it start to visit this restaurant very quick meal

McDonald's promised freshly made burgers. It was very busy so you would think that everything would be hot but the burgers were luke warm.

Great place to eat. They use the new systems, the touchscreen but also the portable number so they deliver to your table. The only downside is that this appears to take little bit longer, but not too much. Also the drive-through is fast, with two stations, however I recommend you check your order before driving away.

Lazy personel. Was 4 people i wait for 2 cheeseburger and coffie 40 minuts 😂 8 people are leaning on the table and not working

Always busy and hectic! The area around the restaurant is dark and not very well-lit at night. A long line of cars awaiting their turn to order during peak hours. But fast and efficient service. In the past it was quite full of trash of the many cars lined-up. People choose to eat in their cars, so to accommodate that, they've placed trash bins. We often choose the plant-based menu and it's freshly prepared for us. Worth the wait in the drive-through. Compared to other Mcd's, they don't scrimp on fries.

The worst service ever, they didn't bring half the order..

By far the worst McDonald’s we’ve ever gone to. Extremely long wait times, unwillingness to modify food (I.e. add or take away cheese), disgusting/cold food when it finally came. And they forgot our order number. Don’t come here!

McFlurry machine broken (classic), and the milkshakes were super gross
