Don't miss the castle if visiting Kalmar! The mummy exhibition is both interesting and fascinating at the same time. Make sure to set aside a half day if you want to go through the castle & mummy exhibition the same day. Comfortable shoes, you will be stepping stones for hours. The park outside the castle is very nice to relax in. You can find rare trees and flowers planted there, each with a little sign of name and year it was planted. Some are very old.

This was our second visit, and we loved it again. They have fun stuff for kids to do, and the castle itself is interesting to explore. The food in the café is good and reasonably priced. The staff all speak English and many seemed to speak German as well (and Swedish, obviously).

Beautiful castle but no way worth the entrance fee. Perhaps if you want the 'included' guided tour or you have small kids to take on the challenges, or you really want to see a random Egyptian exhibition it might be worth the money, but if you want a self guided tour and learn about the history of the castle yourself it's not worth the fee. Recommendation - charge a more reasonable base entrance fee then people extra if they want a guided tour or to enter the Egyptian exhibition.

Liked: - Even though it is largely reconstructed, its exteriors are a view. - Their guided tours are nice, even if not the best. - Kids can enjoy at least for 3-4h, so it is a plus. Lacked: - A comprehensive timeline chart like the one in Borgholm slot. - A clear and chronological understanding of the exhibition of Kalmar slott history.

The castle was really fascinating. The souvenir shop was also very interesting but a bit pricey. Recommend visiting!

So so castle as European castles go. Probably interesting for kids, but the “restored” rooms were nothing spectacular. It took less than an hour to see it all.

Beautiful little garden with cafe and traditional products shop. You can also bring your things and sit on the many cute tables and benches. A small oasis in the midle of beautiful Kalmar.

A quick travel in time to see how Kalmar's nobility lived in the 18th centery. A lovely little garden with a little Caffè where one can buy some typical Swedish pastries and sandwiches. One can also enjoy a picknick on the soft grass. The place is well taken care of. The lavatories where clean. There is a nice little exhibition of how people used to live there (what is on regular display are the servants area). One should check the dates as at special occasions tours of the inside of the house are offered.

Really cosy place for coffee and cookies outside. Maybe not the best accessability for ppl with disabilities. Pretty good coffee, not the most varied menu (if u want vegan latte, go elsewhere) but like I said damn cosy and calm - bushes between tables and so on.

Doz Apotheke Leen the pharmacist gave excellent service three years ago. It's nice to return year after year to be served and supported by her.

The Giraffe Shopping centre has recently undergone a big renovation. This has proved very successful, with the concept clearly made for shopping comfort and convenience. There are three excellent parking areas, adjacent to all three entrances. Well kept toilets in convenient places. Fika is plentiful and there are also two large luncheon buffet restaurants on very good standards and prices. I congratulate the architects and planners, but also the current management for keeping the customer in first place.

Good sized shopping centre with plenty of car parking. You'll have no trouble parking car and caravan or large mobile home. The centre and it's close proximity will provide a fuel stop, mobile phone providers, groceries, cafes, clothing shops, alcohol shop and a hobby shop. Great one stop shop for The Tourist to fulfill all your needs in Kalmar.

I enjoy the opening hours of the supermarkets They are quite convenient. In general, good selection of shops in shopping mall. Would have rated five stars if "Jula" would have stayed put.

Giraffen has a fair selection of stores and retailers for your daily needs. Gym, cafes, clothing & shoes, household, sports, jewellery, food, supermarkets, pharmacy, florists, systembolaget, bowling etc. Free parking at all entraces and free toilets. Giraffen is one stop shop for residents of Kalmar and nearby areas.

This church is worth a visit and if your are lucky you can hear the organ playing

This place is wonderful and worthy of your time. It's located quite close to center. The prices include the guide,but you need to pick up your self in the castle.The guide put on special traditional clothes as the picture shows. You vill learn a lot of things from the guide . You can not read every thing in the halv day. It was nice to hear from them.

It was open and no tickets required. Maybe good to check in advance if there is any service ongoing

Not a very impressive church and not very much information available. Churchgoers and priest was very friendly though. They have a little area for children to paint and play, which is nice.

Directly on the harbor. Convenient car parking opposite. The top level via the escolator has beautifully cared for toilets near to very nice Fika cafe. My wife and I enjoy the many varied shops from the apoteket near the entrance. Good value in pleasant surroundings. Well done 👏

A small little mall with a fair selection of clothing, electronic, cafe, gym, restaurants, fast food joints, and grocery stores. The location is very convenient as it's close to the train station. The mall has a couple of free toilets and paid parking spots.

Coop has many great products and nice discounts. The staff is nice and helpful and it's easy to find all products. The parking is large and free and Coop bought recently Netto in Sweden so it is most probably in top 3 in Sweden. Yes I recommend Coop.

The location is excaptionally good. Easy to find with lovely views, however I feel the place is a missed potential. It's small, with only a few stores, not much to choose from. If you need something quickly then it's fine, but if you're looking to spend a few hours browsing and looking around then this place is just too small.

Stopped for coffee, and unexpected "festive vacuum cleaner" sweet biscuitty-thing which was very delicious. I was treated very sweetly trying to order in extremely basic Swedish. 😁

Grew up in this town and a lot has changed at Baronen. Was always a nice place to go. Now a lot of new stores though, but not necessarily a bad thing. Usually a nice selection of stores and a nice calm atmosphere, but currently a lot of changes.

The sushi is a bit up and down in quality unfortunately, but when they get it right it's really good. Avoid rush hour and you will usually be fine I would say. Sometimes it helps to order in advance it feels like the have the option to put some more time in it then but might just be a coincidence. Usually don't do mayo on sushi but theirs is great, a bit small but good. Had to ask for eating sticks, and there's no napkins either so that could improve. Sitting there isn't great tho, it's really small so for 2 ppl it works fine, when you are more it becomes a little tight.

I went to their lunch buffet in both weekday and weekend before. Both has similar main dishes available. Their weekend lunch buffet has more desserts and fruit choices to choose from, and more sushi and meat variety. I love their milk pudding.

The calf liver was excellent, very juicy and tasty. But the pizza, wow, it was terrible in my opinion. The price for the liver and the pizza were the same. The staff was very friendly. Also the atmosphere was really nice calm.

Food and atmosphere is lovely but for no reason I was placed upstairs even though there were plenty of tables upstairs. Waitress was also serving outside so she was hardly present. The service was good, and the restaurant was in a good area with the interior also being exceptional. The waitress was really nice, I have no complaints about her. Unfortunately, the food was one of the worst things me and my gf have ever eaten. For the price, NO WAY is it worth it. My total ended up being over $100 for a few things. The pasta we ordered (two kinds) were covered in grease and fat. I would not recommend this to anyone. The pasta is in the picture. Restaurant at a good location and with a cozy feel to it. So the potential is there but unfortunately the food was not good. Pasta Carbonara was literally floating in bacon grease and the stuffed chicken fillet was dry and had very little to almost no filling. In addition to ghat it came plated looking like a child did it. Waitress was baffled over us not being happy with the food.

We ordered delicious truffle spaghetti with asparagus. Good choice! 5 stars, but in my opinion everything is overpriced for Swedish province 😌 (270 for pasta)

The food was definitely NOT good. I ordered pasta carbonara and it was DROWNING in fat. I do NOT recommend coming here. We payed lots of money for food we barely touched. Do not waste your money coming here.
