Located at the northernmost tip of the Curonian Spit in Klaipeda County, Lithuania, the Lithuanian Sea Museum offers a modest yet captivating maritime experience. Visitors can explore historical exhibits and aquariums showcasing a variety of marine life, including brightly-colored fish and intriguing crustaceans. The museum's dolphinarium presents entertaining shows featuring Black Sea bottlenose dolphins, Baltic seals, and Steller sea lions.
There's a lot of cool stuff to check out at this museum. The interactive exhibits are really fun, and they're great for kids and adults alike. Don't expect to see a ton of animals, though—it's not a zoo. But the aquariums are really nice, especially the tunnel with all the big sturgeons. You can start at the museum, then leave to see the dolphin show, and come back after. Just let them know at the gates and they'll give you a stamp on your hand.
Laimonas G — Google review
I have to admit, given the hype, I was somewhat disappointed by the sea life expositions. I am no expert, so my impression might be wrong, but the seals, penguins and pelicans outside did not seem like having a good time and the spaces they have seemed rather dull. :/ The interior of the main building is quite pretty, the coral, shells and crustaceans exposition is very cool but I expected more live fishes in the later part. Some of the fish expositions were static figurines, a big part of the aquaria was river life which is still cool and I don't mind but it is a sea museum after all, the grand finale was the tunnel which even for me as an adult that's never seen one before was just alright but quite short and only filled with sturgeons. However, I didn't use it but I appreciate the amount of interactive stuff for children, I would have a blast if I was twenty years younger. The exterior spaces of the former fortress are also interesting to walk around. :) On the other hand, I enjoyed the naval expositions very much. Those I think are more targeted towards adults and children might get a bit bored, even though there still are some interactive features. These naval expositions are full of interesting items and information and I can sincerely recommend that part. There's also a small exhibition about noise pollution in the sea and Lithuanian military sea divers. Overall, I am bit conflicted. I will probably not visit again unless I have children of a suitable age with me but I also don't necessarily want to discourage anyone. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Outside of the museum, there are also ships that are visitable for free, the biggest one houses a small exposition. Those I would recommend either way.

One word: Awesome! A must-visit while you're in Klaipėda. Take a short ferry ride from the Old Ferry Terminal to Smiltynė — the museum is just a 15-minute walk from there. The Marine Museum and Aquarium are both fantastic, and with separate tickets, you can also enjoy the impressive Dolphin Show. A great half-day trip that’s fun, educational, and memorable. Highly recommended!
Subhra K — Google review
Worth to visit. The dolphins and sea lion show was amazing. And I loved the message about sea pollution and how we can help to reduce it. Will definitely coming back! 💙💙
Tautvile P — Google review
Good museum, a fair bit of sea life, as well as ships and history exhibits.
Paulius S — Google review
Average, recommended for children. Wouldn't visit a second time.
Shoop D — Google review
The Lithuanian Sea Museum is absolutely amazing! The exhibits are beautifully presented, from marine life and aquariums to historical displays about ships and sea exploration. The dolphin and sea lion shows are a real highlight - fun, well-organized, and educational. The museum is clean, family-friendly, and easy to explore, with plenty of information in multiple languages. The location by the sea is stunning, and the ferry ride adds to the adventure. A must-visit for families, nature lovers, and anyone visiting Klaipeda!
Jana B — Google review
Definitely worth a stop. In the outside area one can see penguins and seals. Top floor of the aquarium has exhibitions of various sea creatures. The middle section has river and sea fish, and on the bottom floor one can go through a tunnel underneath the water pool and see all the gigantic fish! Really cool! We also stayed to see the dolphin and sea lion show. It’s about 30 minutes long which fits perfect with the ferry departure time back to Klaipeda. It went well to buy the tickets on spot. No queues.

Step into the whimsical wonderland of the Museum of Clocks in Klaipeda, where you'll be mesmerized by a variety of vintage timepieces and exhibits showcasing the history of watchmaking. Housed in a country villa dating back to 1820, this old-world museum offers a detailed look at the ingenuity behind timekeeping throughout the centuries.
If this kind of museum is interesting for you, it's definitely place to see. It was much more than just regular watches. This museum starts measuring the time from the time B C
Timo M — Google review
An exceptionally cozy place that we highly recommend visiting—both for guests of the city and for Klaipėda locals. The museum features many fascinating historical artifacts and cleverly arranged exhibitions, along with extremely helpful staff. We strongly recommend taking a guided tour—you’ll discover truly interesting facts about clocks and much more.

A very nice place to learn about the history of watches. There is no similar museum anywhere in Europe. I definitely recommend visiting.

The house has 9 rooms in total and different era/styles in different room telling you a story about evolution of measuring time. Can use tablet for prerecorded guiding. Great collection and friendly staff. It also houses some famous oil paintings from Ukraine for some time. Also dont miss cosy and wide backyard with some intresting stone work!

An amazing museum) What a wonderful trip to a world history of clocks! The museum features exhibits of clock and watches from the past to the present times. Here you can see the device with the help of which people around the world tried to measure the time. You start with the examples of clocks in the Ancient East tradition and head for the next exhibition where strange examples of clocks are shown. Some of these clock and watches look like a real masterpiece! The collection of clocks from European countries are really fantastic! Moreover, there are a nice space to spend time with your children in the inner courtyard. You should take a picture there. The best time for visiting the museum is May because of the magnificent views in the courtyard. Don't overlook this incredible museum!

Really enjoyed this museum. Great information, and had cards in english four items on display. We also had a little bonus as they had a separate room with some great paintings in it. Definitely would recommend checking it out.

Fantastic and unique museum that takes you through the history of clocks 🕰️ ⏰ Starting from ancient clocks that utilised the elements like solar (sun for sun dials), water, fire and sand. I was amazed to discover that Egyptians were the first to create the sun dial and water clocks. You’ll see mechanical clocks, stopwatches, table clocks, pocket watches and even beautifully decorated Baroque and Art Nouveau clocks. Highly recommend it to learn more about the history of clocks, it’s fascinating 👍🏽👍🏽 The staff are also very friendly and will always help u find the clocks in the tablet audio guide 👍🏽👍🏽

Really enjoyed this quirky, fabulous museum. Even the stained glass had references to time! Such a variety of clocks, from all over the world, telling the time in a myriad of ways. They are all well signed and displayed in such a beautiful building. Well worth a visit.

The Castle Museum in Klaipeda offers an immersive experience into the history of the city and its castle. It is located within two underground sections of the remaining structure, showcasing a variety of exhibits including medieval costumes, paintings, and photographs from different historical periods. Visitors can explore the development of Klaipeda through archaeological finds, documents, and ancient costumes on display. Additionally, art enthusiasts can also visit the Blacksmiths Museum and Clock Museum for insights into local craftsmanship.
So the museum is split into three distinct parts. The main building covers the time from the first settlement until the mid-18th century, if I remember correctly. The second part is from the mid-18th century until just about the beginning of WW2. The last part is from WW2 until its liberation. I can definitely recommend this museum, it has a lot of interactive media which will keep you entertained for hours. I also met the friendliest museum curator in the second exposition. Thank you so much for the awesome conversation.
Tiago G — Google review
There 3 different showings. The WW2 museum, a Davinci exhibition and the middle ages one. Each has it's own tickets. Kids or students get half price tickets which was nice. Not allot of artifacts, but a really good over view on the story of Klapedia. The big red castle was not open for viewings. Before going, look up the parking areas close to the castle.

Who are interested in history, will find plenty of stuff to browse through. Be aware that some spaces can have quite cold temperatures for the purpose of preserving the historic artifacts. Bring something warm to coat yourself in.

A museum is built on the remains of the Klepeida castle. There is a model of the old city. This is an archaeological museum, the research done is very thorol and professional. Presented on the subjects of history, daily life in ancient times, goods, spices, professions, details of clothing, law, church, wars and conquests. The exhibits and information are very clear and the way they are presented is fascinating. Most of the museum is translated into English. Some are shown inside a bunker and the atmosphere is special. The place is clean, service and pleasant staff. On The outside looks simple, the inside is fascinating, worth a visit, fair price. We spent two and a half hours with teenagers

Medieval Klaipėda was a small town. The ideas of the Reformation and the Renaissance gave a great impetus to the development of the city. The symbol of Renaissance Klaipėda is found in the castle from the 16th century. a gold ring with a jewel of a middle nobleman. The atmosphere of the townspeople's life and fashion are reflected in green glazed cobblestones, remains of shoes, household items, craftsman's work tools, coins, imported items. One of the most interesting exhibits is the 17th century. the layout of the second half of Klaipėda castle and city, created after analyzing archaeological, historical, cartographic, iconographic sources. The computer terminal installed in the castle museum allows visitors to independently obtain information on the history of Klaipėda.
Oksana O — Google review
We were unfortunately not able to buy tickets to get into the castle due to a (frankly) rude ticket agent. The museum wasn’t super busy, there was absolutely no line at the time, and we walked up with the necessary money in hand to pay for 4 tickets, but were refused service. Really not sure what could have caused her reactions, it was only about a minute total in interaction where she seemed extremely annoyed at our presence and repeatedly told us to go elsewhere. We were visiting as part of a cruise, so perhaps she was tired of all the English speaking tourists from the day? Whatever it was, we were obviously not welcome there, so we sadly just left. The castle is underwhelming from the outside, and we unfortunately were not able to explore inside. We had heard the museum was really cool, but there’s no way i can rate the experience we had higher than 1 star.
Tyler S — Google review
If you are visiting Klaipeda this museum will give you a good understanding of the city's history, it's growth and importance through time. Audio guide is included and is very good. Watch the film projected onto the back wall of the second room first, then follow the audio trail. A good 3-4 hours could be spent here. Highly recommended. Staff are welcoming and friendly. Great experience.

Nice museum to go during the rainy day, many displays about différent eras of Klaipeda history. I enjoyed seeing the story of Teutonic knights and Hansetic times. With your ticket you have an all day access to différent halls. Totally worth for the small ticket price

Nature & Parks
Curonian Spit National Park is a stunning nature preserve in Lithuania, featuring forests and a long sandy seashore. The park boasts beautiful scenery including the rough Baltic Sea, lovely hills, evergreen forests, mysterious dunes, and breathtaking views. It's recommended to spend at least two hours exploring this grandeur and taking in the sights.
Absolutely gorgeous, most serene forest (natural reserve) we have been to😍🙏 There are a couple of small towns, a lot of affordable food options, a great asphalted road for cars and bikes through the whole strip. If you get a chance to visit, make sure to stay at least 3 days (longer the better), the nature here will entertain you.
Darja S — Google review
It has some nice spots, but going with a car is ridiculous. The ferry is 20€, and when you get to the split itself you’ll have to pay 50€ for the entrance. 50€ is too much for any national park, but that’s not even all. They’ll make you pay 5€ for trails. That’s right. You can’t see the Dead Dunes unless you pay extra. When i asked if 50€ wasn’t a lot of money already the lady said ”next year it may be 100€”. You’ll feel scammed at the end. So avoid the feeling and don’t go at all.
Jere L — Google review
Curonian Spit National Park encompasses the Lithuanian part of the Curonian Spit, along with the adjacent Baltic Sea and Curonian Lagoon. Established in 1991, the park covers an area of 264 km². Due to its landscape and shifting sand dunes, it has been included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Curonian Spit separates the Baltic Sea from the Curonian Lagoon. Neringa, Lithuania's most popular spa town, is located there. It is a small urban area, approximately 50 kilometers long, formed by the merger of four former fishing settlements: Juodkrante, Prevalka, Preili, and Nida. The entrance fee to the National Park is €50 per car. The round-trip ferry from Klaipėda to the Curonian Spit costs €23.
Janusz S — Google review
The place is gorgeous. We visited by car but if we had known beforehand that there’s 50 euro entrance free for cars in addition to ferry ticket, we would have planned differently. Also entering one of the main dunes is 5 euros. Kind of felt like a beautiful tourist trap. Next time I’d explore by bike maybe. Or maybe not. The bird colony hike made everything worth it. It felt like a scene from a Hitchcock movie. That was quite unusual.
Kristiana P — Google review
What a rip off. 1st you pay 23€ for ferry to island that is 3mins long, then upon arrivle you pay additional 50€ fee to enter with a car. If you wanna park somewhere around Nida that will cost you another 24€ for a day and any attraction to visit is additional fee of, for example 5€ per person fod Sand dunes. Deff nothing special about this park to cost that much. Go to any Croatian island for free and you will enjoy it much more then this. Joke

Nestled in the charming city of Klaipeda, Monai is a culinary gem that has been delighting diners since 1996. This polished restaurant offers an impressive selection of elevated dishes featuring premium meats, seafood, and poultry. Seasonal specialties add a delightful twist to the menu, making each visit unique. One standout item is their generously sized dumplings, which are served with savory accompaniments like bacon and pork rinds alongside a creamy sour milk sauce.
Everything was perfect! A truly great restaurant stands out not just for its food, but for the overall experience. Attentive service, consistency in quality and amazing atmosphere. Price meets expectations

The best restaurant in Klaipėda! I visited this place a few years ago and came back to see if it’s still as good—and it absolutely is! The food is made from seasonal ingredients, perfectly prepared, and full of flavor. Service was impeccable and warm, just like before. Highly recommended if you’re looking for quality dining in Klaipėda! 🌟

Gosh this was an absolute delight - if you are ever on Lithuanian seaside, restaurant Monai is a must-experience. From heavenly food to every detail giving aesthetic joys. And a stunning team that we instantly fell in love with ❤️ In old Lithuanian, “monai” means casting spells, magic tricks. And this absolutely felt like it. We were all in awe, the taste of everything was just beyond possible to describe, what an unforgettable time.
Kristina M — Google review
Visited in Sep 2025 Monai is undoubtedly one of the most popular restaurants in Klaipeda and also features in the Michelin Guide for the last two years. We had made a reservation and aid say reservations are recommended as this place is quite popular. The menu here is an a-la-carte menu but I think they can create a set menu for you if you ask them. We ordered one starter course (tuna tartare) and 3 mains (halibut fillet, octopus, beef fillet). The tuna tartare appetiser course was fantastic. Among the mains we ordered, the beef fillet was my favourite course. Also ordered a couple of desserts which were very nice too. For drinks, I just ordered a couple of drinks from their non-alcoholic menu. Service was very nice here and we were constantly attended to by the restaurant staff. Overall, I think a meal at Monai is a must do if you’re visiting Klaipeda.
Avijeet S — Google review
This restaurant visit started with promise but ended with a disappointment — mostly thanks to a waiter who seemed to think arrogance was part of the menu. The concept is actually fun: at the beginning, you choose how much “presence” you’d like from the staff, from low-key service to full-on storytelling about the food. We picked the short telling about the food option, imagining a charming little narrative with our meal. What we got instead was a card explaining what should have happened… but didn’t. When we asked the waiter to tell us about the dishes, he said (in flawless English) that he still needed time to “translate.” Translation: couldn’t be bothered. Knowing the menu is Hospitality — language skills clearly weren’t the problem, but attitude definitely was. The food? Decent. Not bad, but not nearly good enough to forgive the service. The cocktails, however, were genuinely good. P.S. The 10% tip we didn’t leave “Monai” found its way to the bartender at Faksas instead. She was everything the waiter wasn’t: professional, warm, and a pleasure to meet.
Jolanta K — Google review
Overrated and overpriced restaurant. It's not normal that tasting menu was not offered after 8pm, it was not mentionned when the réservation was made. Globally food is tasty and well cooked, some original Flavour. But price is too high, 34€ for an Octopus Dish. There is no amuse bouche between the Dishes (quite unusual for a Michelin recommanded restaurant). Again, why making a Dish with plenty of sauce and not offering any bread, the waitress doesn't even bring a spoon. Globally quite disappointed by the expérience, expected to spend more to taste but finally didn't even take the dessert.

Great restaurant with fabulous food. Where here for dinner, all the dishes were amazing. Starter - tuna tartar was very good, but main - beef, was fabulous, cooked exactly as I ordered. And the star of the evening pistachio desert...it was like cherry on the top of the evening. Great restaurant, amazing staff, calm and professional work of the kitchen (you can see how they prepare all dishes) definitely recommend. 👌🏼

The staff at Bliūdas were delightful. I opted for the vegan poke bowl, which was satisfactory but nothing extraordinary. The tofu lacked flavor and was both tasteless and deep-fried. It would be preferable to have an alternative option with falafel instead, along with the choice of a sauce on top to alleviate dryness (although I prefer this over excessive moisture). While I may consider trying it again, the price of 12 euros seems steep.
Just had the most delicious meal! 🥣 The bowl of fish and vegetables was perfectly balanced, fresh, and flavorful. The soup( Šaltibarsciai) simply fantastic—rich and heartwarming. If you’re a fan of wholesome, hearty food, this is a must-try!

They have one vegan dish which is very tasty and filling, perfect size for lunch, not too much and not too little. A bit pricey but considering the location that’s understandable. Overall very recommended since there are barely vegan options in Lithuania.

Meniu consists of sushi and poke bowls. The later is really original and interesting dish. Though the portion size is not very big and the bowl should be considered a snack rather than a full dish, it tasted really good and came at a rational price. The environment was cozy and staff was friendly. Really recommend to check this place out.

Restaurant
ALBA Bistro is not just an eatery situated in the center of Klaipeda's historical district. It represents a culinary movement that has transformed the Italian cuisine scene along Lithuania's coastal region, garnering highly positive evaluations from its patrons. This establishment offers more than just a meal; it presents an exceptional gastronomic encounter with excellent dishes and exceptional service.
Had a lovely experience in this restaurant. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and of a high quality. The portions were very generous and we couldn't finish 2 starters and 3 mains between the 3 of us as there was so much food. We went with veal for mains and calamari and bread platter for starters. The decor and atmosphere was very nice and relaxing. We don't have many places like this in Klaipėda, so I'm glad this is on offer now. Would gladly come back. Though I do think the prices are a bit high.

Without a doubt, the best quality food in Klaipėda. Everything is made with top ingredients and real care. The pizza was incredible — full of flavor with a perfect Neapolitan crust. Prices are a bit high but worth it. Definitely try the steak tartare, it might be the best steak tartare starter I’ve ever had.

Alba Bistro is such a lovely spot in Klaipėda! The staff are incredibly welcoming and make you feel right at home as soon as you walk in. The food is absolutely delicious – you can really tell they care about quality and pay attention to every little detail. Everything feels fresh, well thought out, and full of flavor. Great vibes, great service, and a place I’ll definitely be coming back to.

We had breakfast at Albo Gastro Bar, and it was absolutely delicious! The food was flavorful, and the beautiful interior added to the lovely atmosphere. The service was great, making our experience even more enjoyable. However, I was a bit disappointed that there were no sweet options suitable for breakfast on the menu. Overall, it was a wonderful place to start the day!

TL;DR: I fully agree with other reviewers who say the price tag doesn’t match the experience - the quality-to-price ratio is heavily skewed. To be fair, nothing was outright terrible, but the whole experience was mediocre and forgettable: the food (including their much-praised tiramisu), the limited menu choices, the lack of ambience - all at “fine dining in a major European capital” prices. On top of that, the ventilation system was clearly inadequate - the dining area close to the pizza oven was filled with fumes and the heavy smell of burnt dough. In my opinion, Bistro Alba is massively overrated and overpriced. I was especially surprised by all the glowing 5 star reviews praising the tiramisu. Anyone who’s ever eaten tiramisu in Italy - or even made one at home - would be stunned by the bone-dry, sandpaper-like ladyfingers. The cream was tasty, though a bit runny, but the biscuits hadn’t been soaked in coffee at all. That’s a travesty :) To be balanced: the pizza dough was very good, but the toppings were meager. And at €22 for a pizza, it’s overpriced even compared to other holiday destinations in Europe. Service was friendly and efficient. My only quibble: crushed black pepper served in a tiny bowl with a spoon rather than a proper pepper mill or even a shaker. In an Italian bistro, that says a lot and is very emblematic of this place - we’ll charge you €40 for a bottle of prosecco (not even Valdobbiadene), but no pepper mills in sight :) I hear this restaurant made it onto a Michelin recommendation list, which is probably why people flock to try it - as we did. But our group of six left deeply underwhelmed.

Day 2

Off the beaten path
For day 2, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Juodkrantė Colony of Grey Herons and Great Cormorants. Not quite as popular as Nida, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 7 hours.

Theme park
Hill of Witches, located in Juodkrante, is a forested hill adorned with an array of intricately carved wooden sculptures depicting witches, devils, and characters from local folklore. Since 1979, Lithuanian artists have created this open-air sculpture gallery where visitors can interact with the artwork by sliding down a demon's tongue or sitting on a throne. The figures represent various characters from regional folklore and offer an opportunity for picturesque photo opportunities.
In this woodland park there are many artists' interpretations of characters found in local legend and folklore. This outdoor museum has been around for more than 40yr. and as a UNESCO World Heritage site is one of the most visited attractions in Lithuania.

Nice mile plus walk to see cool wood carvings made during the soviet era depicting witches and demons (and some dragons). It is apparently where the local wigans used party (for hundreds of years), i suspect with a few funny mushrooms.

Great little hike for everyone, not wheelchair accessible but not really strenuous. There are a few short uphill stretches, just have good shoes on. It’s in a forest so lots of shade. The art makes for great pictures. Don’t start at the bus stop; you should go through a few houses and souvenir shops before starting, and in the shops you can buy an explanatory book covering all the sculptures meanings. If you start the trail right at the bus stop, you are going backwards (not that that detracts from the experience!). Highly recommended! Free and open 24/7.

On the southern side of the small village of Juodkrantė lies the 42-metre-high Jonas Hill, better known as Witches' Hill (Lithuanian: Raganų kalnas). This hill is surrounded by legends, as it is said that not only people used to celebrate midsummer here, but also devils and witches used to party here. Inspired by such stories, in 1979, ranger Jonas Stanius organised a sculpture exhibition on the hill, which gave birth to Witches' Hill. Today, there are 80 sculptures (and the number is still growing) along the 1.2 km long walking trail. Along the wider, bright part of the trail, there are well-known Lithuanian fairy-tale figures, but where the trail becomes narrower and darker, witches and devils come out. A very pleasant and artistic walk!

A must visit while one the spitt, art and a nice stroll through the forest. You need an hour. Entrace is free and there is plenty of free parking nearby (across the street from the park, cca 100m)

Loved it! Totally serene forest with big beautiful trees, well groomed paths and wood carvings throughout the forest! It was an easy walk even for kids. I absolutely recommend visiting here specifically if you like the outdoors and unique art!!!
DeVo S — Google review
This short hike offers a pleasant mix of uphill and downhill trails, making it an enjoyable walk. One of the highlights is the thoughtful design by the park initiators, who have created numerous spots to sit and rest or pose for photos, including unique throne-like seats that add a whimsical touch to the visit. The carvings and sculptures scattered throughout the park are intriguing and add to the mystical atmosphere of the place. It's an excellent spot for a quick stop if you're traveling through the area, providing a lovely break from the usual tourist attractions. However, I would note that it might not be worth planning a trip solely for this attraction. Overall, it was a charming experience and well worth the visit if you find yourself nearby.

First time in my life I have seen these birds. It was interesting to go to the seashore next to the nesting area - there are many birds as well and can be seen looking for food. Bit horror like view to see so many birds sitting on dead leafless trees.

A worth place to visit and see a disaster in nature, how cormorans destroy a beautiful forest. Please watch a movie "Acid forest" about this place. Nothing spectacular and impressive to see acid soil, disappearing old pines.

Parnidis educational track is the best programme for tourists who visit Nida or Curonian Spit for the first time) Are you ready to overcome obstacles? If your answer is yes, then go ahead. You need a few hours to explore this track. How many hours? It depends on a lead time, your route and the aim of the route, the weather, the way how you are dressed. It would be better to wear comfortable clothes and shoes. There are lots of footpaths and wooden ladders but you will go through the dunes, a great amount of sand. So it could be a little adventure and unforgettable experience. The scenery is absolutely marvelous! A rough sea, lovely hills, evergreen forest, fantastic dunes and breathtaking views! Must try Parnidis educational track)
Iryna P — Google review
The lady in the tourist office advised us to visit this site, and we were well-rewarded! Extremely interesting phenomenon of the moving sand dune, of such enormous size that the town of Nida had to be moved away to a new location, and the old one was covered. The abruptness of change of the vegetation, from the planted pine forests to stop the advance of the dune, to small shrubs to totally bare fine sand was very impressive. The climb up was a bit strenuous, but the boardwalk is well maintained. A unique experience, highly recommended.

The Thomas Mann Culture Centre, located in Neringa, Lithuania, is a captivating destination for literature enthusiasts and history aficionados. It is dedicated to the renowned German writer Thomas Mann, who resided in Neringa during his exile from Germany. The museum is housed in Mann's former summer residence and offers a unique portrayal of the Nobel Prize-winning author's life and work.
Very interesting small museum about the life of Thomas Mann. A must if you're visiting the Curonian Spit

Thomas Mann Culture Centre is a kind of visiting card of Nida) Located in a picturesque place this museum will pleasantly surprise you. There's no problem finding it when you're walking alongside Pamario gatve. The admirers of Thomas Mann's talent will enjoy Culture Centre so much. It is housed in one wooden two-storey building; small like all museums and sightseeing locations in Nida. On the other side, it doesn't seem provincial. Evaluate the unique concept of the museum - a combination of history, personal story and story of the Mann's family, modern design and the latest technology. There are nice exhibitions with animated elements and description in Lithuanian, English and German. Finally, you can go outside and enjoy the beautiful view of pine forest breathing a fresh sea air and smell of pine needles.

A wonderful surprise discovery. A beautiful natural setting for a very interesting cultural and historical story. Loved everything about it. How would I improve it? Encourage the lady at the reception to smile, be nicer and to proactively propose the audio guide which has a lot of informing in English, add the possibility to purchase actual books by Mann incl English. Otherwise- loved it. Plus coffee was delicious (Jura). A lot of connections to Switzerland too.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Curonian Spit, a 98-km sandspit along the Baltic Sea, is a popular holiday destination known for its beaches and resort towns. The area offers scenic cycling routes through pine forests, medieval castles, and deserted beaches. Nida, famous for its amber jewelry and home to the iconic Parnidis dune, provides breathtaking views of the Neringa sands and the sea. This UNESCO World Heritage site is perfect for both relaxation and active leisure activities with pets.
Between Cranz (Russia) and Smiltynė (Lithuania) stretches over 98 km one of the most special nature reserves in Europe: the Curonian Spit. A spit is a long sand spit that (partially) blocks off a part of the sea, in this case the Curonian Lagoon is blocked off from the Baltic Sea. The Curonian Spit was formed in the 5th millennium BC, the narrow sand spit, the width varies from 380m to 3800 m, is mainly covered with pine trees. The area is a popular tourist destination, especially during the summer months, attractions include the artists' village of Nida, the Witches' Hill in Juodkrantė and the two dune areas. In order to protect nature, the Curonian Spit National Park was established in 1991. In 2000, the entire spit became a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and rightly so, because the Curonian Spit is definitely worth a trip!

Might be unique wonder of nature, but human touch (ferry service capacity from and to mainlaind) makes the experience of getting there uniquely painful and nightmarish. 5 hours(!!) waiting in car at the ferry terminal (back and forth) to have 2 hours in the Sea museum (as there was no time left for anything else). All thumbs down for (de)organized logistics here.
Gusts K — Google review
This is how I imagine heaven! Ideal place for a biking trip, as there are high-quality bike roads, plenty of cafes and restaurants, and many nice places to stop all along the peninsula. We took a ferry, then a trip by bus from Smiltyne to Nida, where we rented a bike and rode to Juodkrante (approx. 30 km). Visited Vecerkrugas dune, Preila, did some bird watching near Karvaiciai, then a short walk in Pervalka, a hike to Dead Dunes, spent some time at a beach near Juodkrante, and had a great dinner and a walk around Juodkrante, back to Smiltyne by bus, then ferry back to Klaipeda. Wonderful, relaxing experience!

This 40-foot sundial stands atop the Parnidis Dune, one of the scenic highlights of Curonian Spit, a UNESCO World Heritage Site shared by Lithuania and Russia. Built in 1995, the sundial was damaged by a hurricane a few years later and rebuilt in 2011. It accurately tells time by creating shadows on the steps, with notches for hours and half hours, as well as months, equinoxes, and solstices. March 20 marks the spring (or vernal) equinox in the Northern Hemisphere, meaning that for the next six months daylight hours will outlast nighttime darkness. When it's winter in the Northern Hemisphere, those of us above the equator are tilted away from the sun, giving us shorter days and longer nights. In summer, we're tilted toward the sun, but the equinox is right in between. It's the moment during Earth's annual revolution around the sun when its axis is neither tilting away nor tilting toward the sun, giving everyone on the planet an equal split of day and night. This phenomenon happens twice a year—in March and again in September. In the Southern Hemisphere, everything's flipped. There, it's the autumnal equinox today — and, yes, winter is coming.

46€ for the ferry 50€ entrance fee to the national park 5€/person for the dead dunes as the main attraction and only a tiny carpark Pretty bad roads All this makes the experience of this beautiful piece of earth pretty sour and not worth it

Was very disappointed, there where sign's all over the place saying keep off sand dunes before I got onto the beach then I walked onto the beach and there was no sand and only a puddle of water. I was ready to go the the beach and everything. I brought my beach chair and sunscreen and just wanted a nice peaceful day at the beach but there was no beach for me to be at.

Geologic Formations
The Dead Dunes, also known as the Nagliai nature reserve, are the tallest migrating dunes in Europe. These sandy hills, reaching heights of up to 60 meters, were formed by winds and sea currents. The dunes have a fascinating history of movement, with some traveling up to 15 meters per year between the 17th and 18th centuries. The area is now a protected nature reserve with delicate ecosystems.
Wow. I didn’t think I’d love this so much! There’s a small car park with coffee van on entry. Bonus! €5 entry and part way you’ll want to walk bare foot as it’s only dunes. Great views ans you can see how they hold back the sand.
Matthew D — Google review
The entry fee is 5 euros for adults (kids are free). The trail starts easy on a wooden path, but to reach the final view, you must walk a lot on sand up a dune. It's challenging hiking with small kids, but the views are amazing.
Aleksej K — Google review
The Dead Dunes is a must stop on your way to Nira. Landscape is truly unique and breathtaking. Absolute must see. One of the most beautiful beach landscapes I’ve seen - looks like a desert with very unique vegetation. The walk to the view on the bay side takes 15min but it’s well worth the time and effort. Very beautiful scenery and a good view at the end. There is small parking lot with a tiny kiosk with ice cream and coffee. There are temporary bathrooms. Tickets at entrance.
Andre A — Google review
Beautiful landscape, unfortunately just direct reachable by car. Or you go to the next city by bus and walk back to the dune for an hour and same on your tour back. Entrance is 5€ for adults and 2€ for children, students,... it's a bit much for just standing on a dune I think, but I guess it helps to reserve it.
Salome F — Google review
Amazing scenery, those dunes are the biggest I've seen in Baltics. There is a parking, also you need to pay 5 eur before entering the trail. It's open until 20.30, last entrance 19.30 in summer.
Viola B — Google review
Very interesting landscape and once you climb the path up the dunes you get to a point where you can see the sea behind and the lagoon in front. There is a boardwalk part of the way and most people walk barefoot once you get to the sand path. It is 5 euros or 2 for concessions but parking is free for 2 hours which is plenty of time to do the walk. There is a little coffee car on the car park and some portaloos if you are desperate. Lots of people were parked on the road as car park space is limited. It's a good way to spend a couple of hours but not wheelchair accessible after the boardwalk which takes you about half way.
ChrisG G — Google review
Nice but 5€ it’s overpriced. If you ask for such an amount, would be nice to offer some facilities like bigger parking, proper toilets in “entry area” and so on. The parking is small. The minibus was blocking the entrance to the parking. We had to park on the main road - Horrible
Viktoria — Google review
It might not really seem like it but it's a cool place to visit. I went there when it was quite cold, so I stayed in my shoes, but it must be nice to walk barefoot at the end. Well, at least I was there almost alone and could properly enjoy it. :) The only downside, if you're not there by car, is that there's no bus stop there – you need to walk from the one by the turn to Pervalka and it's not exactly a short walk (2.5km) on the main road. But it's definitely worth a visit. :)

The Klaipeda State Music Theatre is conveniently located in the heart of Klaipeda, making it easily accessible from various points of interest. I was pleasantly surprised by Pamario takas, kavine, A. Zaksienes firma in Juodkrante. The food was excellent, particularly if you're into vegan options. The fish dishes were also delicious and had a local twist with pesto flavors. Despite the limited menu, the quality of the food was outstanding. I highly recommend this place if you're staying in Juodkrante. It's truly a hidden gem that exceeded my expectations.
Kajus the student waiter was just amazing, perfect English, menu knowledge and assistance was just outstanding! We have ate mussels which were fabulous and combination with wine was just a top! Definitely recommended place!

Unfortunately this used to be a lovely place in Juodkrantė! It has went down this time: the food came very long - mussels were cold, too little source with them, the salad with shrimps were not as good as used to be. Slow service, just one taking the order, and then asking to change tables, when we were eating already felt not so nice. Just coffee was good! It has children playground inside. Good with dogs. Hope will get better as used to be!

Great staff and nice outdoor area. The food is underwhelming, though. Tastes quite bland and is overpriced. Also, there is only one menu outside on the entrance, so pick your dish before getting seated, as there are no printed menus.

We stopped here after biking from Nida and before walking to the Hill of Witches - and we were immensely happy that we did! Our server was extremely kind and offered several suggestions when we were deciding between options. We started with a locally made pesto as an appetizer with some toasts, drinking some sea buckthorn tea. Our main course consisted of the eggplant stew and the lentil cakes - both extremely tasty. And don't miss Grandma's pickled vegetables (with a touch of honey) which were a great accompaniment to everything else we were having. A great meal for sure!

The service and atmosphere at Juodasis kalnas, viesbutis, Lotas were pleasant. The tiramisu was exceptional, even for someone who doesn't typically enjoy desserts. The food was delicious with adequately sized portions suitable for a lunch on a warm summer day. While the restaurant is among the pricier options in the area, the quality of the dishes is commendable. Additionally, there was one gluten-free item on the menu.

Were there in the middle of october, dumplings which cost 14€ were good but the portion size and the price were far from matching, the 16,5€ burger which wasn’t very bad just with rock hard bacon and a side of really old fries which tasted and looked like questionable chips. Overall, came here to have a lunch, left not full and disappointed

One would think that a hotel perched on the Curonian Spit, blessed with natural beauty all around, might try—if only out of courtesy to its surroundings—to rise to the occasion. Alas, this establishment has chosen quite the opposite path. We stayed one night with friends, and it was one night too many. Our room was perched directly above the restaurant, which meant a soundtrack of clattering plates and muffled voices running late into the night and resuming at dawn. But noise, as it turned out, was the least of our worries. The true highlight of our stay was the staff, whose defining characteristic seemed to be a studied hostility. The receptionist—apparently also the proprietor—was a virtuoso of unpleasantness, shouting at us over a dog supplement fee. We had no objection to the principle of paying, but the fee itself varied mysteriously depending on whether one spoke English or Lithuanian, and, in a charmingly outdated twist, only cash was accepted. Credit cards, it seems, offend her sensibilities. The rooms themselves? Imagine the décor of a dreary roadside motel, subtract whatever comfort might remain, and you’ll have the general idea. The bedding was joyless, the atmosphere drab, the experience unwelcoming. The only thing luxurious here is the gall with which guests are treated. In short: if you wish to discover the one activity worth pursuing at this hotel, it is the simplest of all—keep walking.
Nicolas F — Google review
Rooms are good but restaurant service was disappointing. At first we've got a discount of 20 percent for the table, have ordered more food and drinks than we would have ordered without the discount and then the other morning staff asked us to give back the discount in cash. There was 12 of us, so the bill was quite big and the difference with and without the discount was quite big.
Ugnė L — Google review
The restaurant is expensive, I don't think most of their meals would be worth it. The šaltibarščiai and their signature potato pancakes were good and that's what I would reccomend to order here. Keep in mind the potato pancake portions are quite big, you get 3 pancakes, each about the size of your hand. You might also want to consider getting additional sour cream or other additions as the included amount of sour cream is not enough for all the pancakes personally.
Jonas S — Google review
Opinion about Restaurant (solely on the basis of prices and one dish): it is overpriced, potato pancakes are terrible (deep fried, extremely fat), "šaltibarščiai" 8€, "potato pancakes" 14€+ it indicates you have to take an obligatory side dish of 3-5€ to it (we did not take it, and they did not insist. We refused sour cream and requested just butter instead of it, so got it but were charged extra 1€. Funny).

The service and atmosphere were nice. Best tiramisu I have ever had and I’m not a desert person :) Food was tasty, portions not big, but well enough for a lunch on a hot summer day. One of the more expensive restaurants in the area, but quality of food was good :) There was one item on the menu that was gluten free.

Coffee shop
Family restaurant
Recently, I had the opportunity to visit a coffee shop called Pastogė. The food at this establishment is satisfying, particularly their chicken thighs which are delicious. The portions served here are quite generous. Additionally, the coffee shop offers a magnificent view that adds to the overall experience. The waiter named Karolina is not only knowledgeable but also provides excellent advice with a constant smile on her face. She truly brings positive emotions to the dining experience.
Few days ago I visited this place. The food is good especially chicken thights. Really big portions in here. The view is wonderful and the waiter Karolina is a good advicer and she is allways working with a smile. She bringed good emocions to me. I don't understand why this restaurant have only 3 stars and the half. But all in all I can say that I like this place. I will be back.

Went there for drinks during a sunny August afternoon. The hazelnut Latte was nice and refreshing, but the mango cocktail barely tasted like anything mango at all. The atmosphere is cozy and the prices are reasonable. 4/5 stars.

Tapas bar
Restaurant
Invino is a must-visit gem in Nida, renowned for its stunning rooftop bar that offers breathtaking views. This vibrant spot boasts an impressive selection of wines from around the globe, alongside strong coffee, delightful cocktails, and traditional Lithuanian beer—making it an ideal destination for enjoying drinks with friends or family. The ambiance is inviting, especially on the spacious terrace accessible via a charming bridge where you can soak up the sun during the day or gaze at stars by night.
The wine, the food and the people. All together in one amazing place - magical. One waitress with blue eye and golden colour hairs was exceptional 🌹🏖🥘🍷

Great service! Great food. Nice and quiet place to have a dinner in Nida. Price for 6 tapas and 4-5 drinks was 75 EUR.

Not worth it, look elsewhere. Tried an assortment of different dishes. Food was barely ok, with one plate needing to be sent because of moldy bread in the dish. So clearly standards in the kitchen are not the highest. Service was friendly, but very clumsy and forgetful. We had to ask for our orders multiple times, some never arrived. Location is still lovely with beautiful views from the terrace. Bottom line: with steep menu prices, and all of the above, I’d look elsewhere.
Simas B — Google review
Heard good things but couldn’t enter the establishment. On their website it was stated that they’re open but when we came around they were closed. Tried calling or getting more information somewhere but with no luck. I suppose they’re closed permanently but a little heads up would’ve been nice.

Perfect place! Delicious food, lovely atmosphere, beautiful music and view. Ice cream dessert is huuuge!

Nice view, if you ignore Soviet era building with crumbling walls. Good menu and quality of ingredients. Duck is the best dish. Prices definitely tourist level. Service is slooooooooooow. Takes forever to order and just as long to get your food. I should need 2 hours for tapas.
Apolinaras S — Google review
Came to this place because a friend recommended me. I asked the waiter what vegan gluten free choices they have. He just said “French fries”, then buckwheat porridge which originally comes with the meat and then said another porridge which contains barley and oats gluten grains. Anyways I picked French fries which tasted like any frozen potatoes deep fried in the oil. So sorry guys but if in 2019 you can’t make up any vegan gf options for the customers so I say no. And a drink menu is a must which this place doesn’t have. The view is cute but the view doesn’t feed me
Monika P — Google review
Great ambiance. The terrace on the roof accessed though the bridge opens up vast space and lets you enjoy the morning sun or stars at night. Food is varried, exciting and delicious. Great choice of wine, refreshing gin and tonic, etc. Brings together a colorfull and friendly crowd. Highly recommended.

Day 3

Southwest side of town
For day 3, we recommend exploring the southwest side side of town. Start the day off with Sundial, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Nida Fisherman's Ethnographic Homestead. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Sundial, located at the Parnidis dune in Nida, is a 14-meter tall pillar that offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding dunes. Visitors are advised to respect the natural environment and avoid stepping on the flora, as it takes many years for roots to develop. Accessible by car or bicycle via a steep road or by stairs from the east side, this peaceful and enjoyable place marks the end of "Tour de Curonian Spit.
Nice views of all surrounding areas. Sundial itself is big and looks very fancy, does the job I think. Would definitely recommend to go up there and enjoy the views. Have a look at sand dunes and Russian border.
Sharu S — Google review
Great views over towards the border with Kaliningrad. A few market stalls selling gifts. Toilet facilities are present but not great. Ensure you have mosquito repellent.
Troy J — Google review
Super recommend a visit to the sundial. It sits atop the largest dune outside of Nida, Lithuania - a beautiful quaint town sitting between the sea and interior bay facing Klaipeda. From this high viewpoint, you can see the border to Russia’s Kalingrad. The hike takes 15-20min from downtown Nida and it is a bit strenuous but lots of resting places with benches. Views are gorgeous. Highly recommend.
Andre A — Google review
A tall, interesting, old building. The surrounding area and views are very beautiful.
Jonas ( — Google review
Interesting site and sundial with lots of information and curious designs. Believe it or not, it does not account for daylight savings time. There is a good overlook to the peninsula on the Russian side of the border.
Adam W — Google review
A very beautiful place very close to the Russian border.

A must visit place without any comments. Probably the most beautiful place in Lithuania. You can access it from the lagoon side by stairs or by a car from the other side.
Alis M — Google review
That was the last place we visited on our "Tour de Curonian Spit" and it was like a cherry on top. The only disadvantage of this place is lack of parking places, but there are big road works around so let's hope it will change soon. We parked near marked on the map "Parking lot" and then walked through E. A. Jonušo street to the dune, mostly through the forest and then joining the "self guided path" with few tens of stairs to climb. I would say it was 1km total. After reaching the top we admired the sun clock and the view from an observation desk on a whole valley, sea and bay. It could have been the end of the tour but we found out that we can go down on dunes and walk around the valley. It was awesome - wild, empty space, walked by few people only, we literally passed one person in the begging and a group of 5 young people on our way back. The best place to discover dunes on Curonian Spit!

Lighthouses
Perched on Urbas Hill at an elevation of 79 meters, Nida Lighthouse serves as a vital navigation marker, with its white light signals visible up to 22 nautical miles away. The lighthouse offers breathtaking panoramic views of Nida and the surrounding natural landscapes. Visitors can embark on scenic walks along the hill's paths and trails, while also exploring the ancient forest in Juodkrante for a sensory experience.
Beautiful destination in the middle of the forest. You can easily park about 500m away and then walk along a path through the pine forest. The wire mesh has now been removed so that you can enjoy the view without any obstructions.

Val S — Google review
very nice lighthouse with a pretty great view over the town of Nida and surounding woods the entry was 3€ i think, so pretty good worth it in my opinion you can park your car on the central parking under the hill where the lighthouse us located
Filip P — Google review
Amazing views, beautiful lighthouse, very nice lighthouse keeper selling the tickets.
Adrianna — Google review
Nice views from the viewing platform. The space up is rather limited - we were lucky to be alone up there. The walk up the winding staircase is not too long, only the ladder at the very end is slightly challenging (steep and rather tight). The walk up through the forest is okay, but not worth the trip on its own. The entrance fee of 5€ is okay to go to the top - even though as a couple of two adults you pay more than a family of four (rather strange logic).
Andreas H — Google review
Historic lighthouse was destroyed by German soldiers during a retreat in ww2 so this one is built afterwards.
Behlül K — Google review
The Nida Lighthouse is worth visiting 💯 You will be tested. It's like a local quest. At first, you have to find this place. Google maps indicates wrong coordinates but a lot of tourists and locals can help you. The next step is to pay an entrance fee (5 euros!). Finally, you have to climb the stairs to the top. It's not so difficult. On the contrary, fast and exciting. I advise to take warm clothes for yourself because of the strong wind at the top of the lighthouse. You will spend a little time there but the view is fantastic, breathtaking and unbelievable. Curonian spit, Baltic sea, dunes, pine forests... Really stunning views! It's a good idea to have a walk around after the visiting lighthouse.

Churches & Cathedrals
The Nida Catholic Church, located in Neringa, is a popular wedding venue for couples from all over Lithuania. Designed by the renowned architect Kristopavicius in the distinct style of Neringa, this church exudes elegance and charm. Its interior boasts a modern aesthetic with a delightful combination of light wood and white paint. While seating capacity inside may be limited, there are ample outdoor seating options available.
I recently visited this incredible church, and it was an unforgettable experience! The official opening ceremony took place on June 14, 2003, and it has a fascinating history. The 1.5-ton bell in the steeple adds to its charm. The interior is stunning, especially the white Italian marble baptismal font, which weighs 2 tons and has a unique boat-shaped top. The lower part of the font symbolizes a lock guiding people towards faith. The church also features a beautiful fresco by artist Antanas Chmieliauskas. One of the highlights is the amphitheater in the churchyard. When the church's windows and doors are opened, it seamlessly becomes part of the church, creating a perfect venue for open-air Christian cultural events. I highly recommend visiting this exceptional place!

History Museums
Nida Fisherman's Ethnographic Homestead is a small but well-maintained museum located in a traditional fisherman's house from 1927. The museum showcases original furniture, household equipment, and fishing artifacts. In 2017, the exhibition was completely renewed, offering an insightful look into the lifestyle of the past. Visitors can explore various displays including old household items, vintage furniture, and decorations. Additionally, there are projections and films providing further insight into the local culture.
Love the architectural style these houses have, can’t stop staring at them

Fascinating small museum that displays the life and living conditions of fishing families eking out a living on the shores of the Coronian Sea. The artefacts and photographs predominantly originate from the early 1900's before the impact of holiday makers and tourism changed the lives of the fishing communities for ever. Enthusiastic staff, inexpensive entry, an hour well spent. I recommend it.

Sena sodyba in Nida is a secure establishment to dine, offering simple yet delectable cuisine. The restaurant's terrace provides a charming setting reminiscent of being amidst a lush garden, with ample space between tables for an enjoyable dining experience. Their Chicken Kiev and chicken sticks are highly recommended and received positive reviews. Despite being busy, the service remained satisfactory. The food itself was flavorful, and the prices were reasonable.
We loved it! Very welcome coming and inviting atmosphere! Friday staffs and beautiful seating areas. The location is not facing the lagoon but it's beautiful itself. Food was good, fresh and not so expensive compared to other nearby restaurants.
Subhra K — Google review
Nice to have a no smoking place to eat even though the food is a bit ho hum. Fries aren't good, but the cole slaws/salads are excellent. Pork tasted like processed pork and was smothered in cheese with very little flavor. "Sausage" was basically a hot dog. I would stick with salads. Service was fast!

Safe place to eat in Nida. Simple food, nothing fancy. I like their terrace as you feel sitting in the middle of a garden with enough space between table to enjoy your company. Chicken Kiev and chicken sticks were pretty good, I recommend to try it. Service was pretty decent knowing that the place was packed.

Very nice atmosphere! The food is good, and portions are big, but a bit overpriced for what you get, it lacks a bit of "love". No menu for kids as well. Service was quick, but one of the waitresses was very unpleasant. Still worth a visit for its atmosphere and authentic Lithuanian cuisine

Good food, didn't have to wait long and very kind service. The atmosphere outside in the garden is very nice, as long as the weather is good. Best baked bread with cream in town!!! (we've tried many already) ... after my first recommendation last year I know sadly have to say that the service is not that good anymore... we were here at lest 5 times this stay (for the bread obviously :) ) ...we had to wait for drinks every time at least 30 minutes... so take some time if you want to eat here😅

Never actually got to taste the food as after over 30min of waiting we got told the kitchen is busy and our order is not yet being prepared. We left and ate at a place with much better, faster and friendlier service. The fact that the place was full of people with no one actually having any plates on the table must have been the warning sign we somehow missed.
Rasa R — Google review
This is a truly unique place. Having had dinner around 11 000 times in my life I really can't remember anywhere else where someone managed to screw up such a simple dish like piece of pork meat with potatoes. It's not the meat quality, it was ok, it was the negligence and probably total lack of taste. I don't know how else to explain that meat was covered with thick layer of many days old cooking oil making it inedible despite our hunger. The chef covers potatoes in the same cooking oil so don't worry - you will go home hungry 😂 What's interesting it wasn't just my dish - my friend ordered a different one and she still couldn't eat past few bites. So yeah, definitely recommend this place. If you want to see how bad food can get haha
Dmitrijs S — Google review
A great place for families! Came here during an offseason (September, 2019) after a huge disappointment in other eateries where they didnt have anything on their menu. We were greeted by the owner, who swiftly sat us down and gave us a high chair for the baby. The menu had plenty of choice for picky eaters and the kitchen was flexible enough to accomodate for different garnishes. The food took a while to arrive, but that is expected of when it's cooked fresh. Portions were big, tasty, and we will definitely come back for breakfast. The place is safe for children to play in. A huge thank you to the owners for making us feel so welcome! Lietuviskai trumpai: 100% rekokenduoju!

We waited there for an hour. After 30 mins we only got a menu and after that we were just ignored. We’ve asked the waiter if we could order, he said that he will come up when he can. When new people came they were serviced way faster then us. So we just left.

Great place to stay with family. Kid friendly and pet friendly. Courteus staff, nice clean rooms, delicious food. Breakfast is included and has very generous selection and it's not the same from day to day. There's even a playground for kids right next to the restaurant. We have enjoyed our stay and would love to come back sometime.

Pluses: * Hotel's restaurant is quite high quality. Prices as the Nida hotel are quite ok. Minuses: * Old hotel, rooms need general cleaning. The chairs and sofas are dirty with old stains. Shower are same - need proper cleaning with black mold between seams. * Part of the administration is rude. They tried to scam us on Covid subsiadiary. * Overall design is old and the price we paid for it is just not logical.

Hotel is fine, but the spa is not included in the price and the charge to use the private spa is 50 euros an hour. Nidus is fine if you're just looking for a hotel, but I would not recommend if you want to enjoy the spa with your stay!

Art center
Nida Art Colony is a contemporary art center situated in the picturesque town of Nida. It offers diverse exhibitions, workshops, and artist residencies, attracting talents from across the globe. The colony features a stunning sculpture park and hosts various cultural events throughout the year. Depending on the season, visitors can experience different atmospheres - from a cozy winter setting to an outdoor summer vibe with proximity to the sea.
Welcomes differently depending on the season: Mid-winter (January): View from the library shifts between shades of pearly white snow and greenish mud. Cozy as a state of mind. Keeps it warm through the floor. No space for leisurely ways of being. Summer (early June): The rooftop pathway connecting the two buildings expedites the day. Proximity to the sea moulds days around a swim. Outdoors multiplies the space available (and leisurely ways of being).

Lutheran church
Nestled within a serene century-old pine forest, the Evangelical Lutheran Church offers a tranquil escape for those seeking reflection and solace. This charming church is surrounded by picturesque views and is conveniently located near the seaside, making it an ideal spot for contemplation. The nearby Ethnographical Cemetery adds to its allure with ancient wooden tombs that showcase unique cross designs, each telling a story of Lithuania's rich cultural heritage.
history throbbing.. you can feel.. you can see.. you can even touch the imprint of old times.. of days gone by.. fantastic place to be alone for a moment.. to feel the tranquillity.. and suddenly in the creaking of bench you can hear the roar of the stormy wind and crash of the surf..

Enigmatic Evangelical Lutheran church in a century-old pine forest) It's a quiet and comfortable place for reflection and praying. A good location and picturesque view. Not far from the seaside and an old cemetery. Must visit)

Small but interesting place to visit. Each cross has its own unique design pattern. The tradition of carving religious icons has been handed down through generations. UNESCO recognizes cross-making as intangible cultural heritage of Lithuania, a “symbol of national and religious identity”.

Art Museums
Nestled in the heart of Juodkrante, Lithuania, the Amber Gallery-Museum is a must-visit attraction. This unique museum provides an immersive experience for visitors to delve into the captivating realm of amber, also known as 'Baltic gold,' which holds significant cultural and historical value in Lithuania. The town itself has become a popular tourist spot, drawing around 300,000 visitors annually.
You must visit K. Mizgiris Amber Gallery-Museum when you're staying in Nida) It is located in a quiet part of Nida, not far from the central part of the town and the Nida promenade. There's no problem finding this place when you're walking alongside one of the main streets - Pamario gatve. This small local amber museum is housed in several buildings. There are all important expositions in the typical peasant wooden house. To start observing the exhibition and get in, you need a ticket (a rather low price!). The most pleasant thing is that you can choose a language of sightseeing (Lithuanian, English, German, Russian). A young lady, passionate about her work, gives you the highlights on amber. It is amazing how many amber masterpieces are presented here. You can look at insects in amber through a magnifying glass and try a drink with amber. Leaving the house, you should continue your tour by exploring the installations outside and taking photos of the picturesque background. I definitely recommend this amber museum. It would be interesting to visit both kids and adults.

This place has a large variety of amber jewelry and suverniors which are really great designs. The staff is really nice and they tell you all about amber and the history of the industry in Nida. Prices are not the cheapest I have seen in the region but some products are really good so you can check out and decide.

If you're on the hunt for a meat lover's paradise, look no further than Meat Steak House in Nida. This gem mirrors its Vilnius counterpart with minimalist decor and an all-meat menu that will tantalize your taste buds. From dry-aged rib-eyes to succulent T-bones and filet mignons, there's something for every carnivore. Don't miss their brunch featuring seven varieties of eggs Benedict—perfectly indulgent for a leisurely vacation morning!
Good place for delicious food! Quite difficult to find, because it’s located bit further from the main street. Very delicious, with a little bit spiciness, mexican style beef tartare. Definitely worth to try. Iberico ribs and duck breast - superb taste. Highly recommended.

We had a nice evening here. The staff is friendly, and the menu comes with a short & helpful explanation of the meat. Good wine, and very good dessert (we tried the one with hazelnut ice cream). The steaks we had were good, but not amazing.

Really good eggs Benedict. Well it takes some time but you're on vacation anyway. We also had a dinner here and were not amazed. I had New York strip. Meat was really good. But serving with fries only dissapointed me. For such price range I would expect something more fancy. Overall food is good and servings are big.

The food was good, although nothing impressive for their price class. The wine was quite overpriced; we paid 50EUR for a bottle that costs 15 at the shop. 120EUR for a dinner for 2, which seems to be on the higher end in Nida.

Museum
Mizgiris Amber Museum, located in Nida, is a charming treasure trove of stunning amber pieces and artifacts. Housed in an old fisher's house, the museum showcases a diverse collection of amber jewelry, decorative items, and ancient inclusions dating back millions of years. Visitors can explore the significance and formation of amber while delving into its role in local history. The museum also offers the opportunity to purchase exquisite amber souvenirs.
It is small but has a very varied collection. A tour with a video is scheduled on different screens in the museum. In each video they tells very interesting things and in a way that captures your attention. When the video tour ends you have several small interactive activities with the amber. At first the ambat may seem indifferent to you, but when you leave it it is another wonder of the world. They have a store with different jewelry, rigor and so on, but everything is excessively expensive. In short: a museum worth visiting.
Nil T — Google review
An interactive, fascinating experience. Anything and everything about amber. There are all sorts of ambers presented in glass casing: large, small, see-through, not see-through, from different countries around the world, it's a pretty small, but very varied collection. the biggest amber in Lithuania is here. You can see, touch, and even smell amber. What are ambers? How do they form? Why're there all sorts of different things, even animals, in ambers? After going here you'll have pretty much every answer about anything you'd want to know about amber. A must visit in Nida.

Avikalnis Observation Deck, also known as Preila Dune or Artist Dune, offers a glimpse into the past as it used to be a gathering spot for artists during Soviet times. Although the modern observation deck provides somewhat limited views due to dense forests, visitors can still catch a glimpse of the Baltic Sea and the famous dunes.
The observation deck is only 2 minutes from the parking lot. You can see the sea in the distance and the landscape is truly beautiful.

Stone Sculpture Park

Park
The Stone Sculpture Park in Juodkrante is a unique attraction featuring sand sculptures created by various participants each year. While it's not exactly a park, the shoreline is adorned with up to ten intricate and interesting sculptures. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely walk or bike ride along the tidy shore, taking in the organic stone figures that blend seamlessly with the sea scenery. The park offers a serene and uncrowded environment, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and contemplation.
It's not a stone but rather sand sculpture park. Every year various participants create sculptures from sand. They differ every time and are very interesting and detailed. Also it's not much of a park as only up to ten sculptures are made. However it's still worth a visit, because after you have seen the sand sculptures there is a long shore with other sculptures to be seen. The shore is nice and tidy therefore a calm walk or bike ride will be very enjoyable (there are separate bike lanes).

I had the trout with horseradish, perch with mushroom sauce, spicy shrimp, fried perch, fried bread, and apple pie. Their fried bread was the best I have had. It was not too crunchy and the cheese was served on the side. The fish dishes were fresh and well balanced with accompaniments. On a scale of 1 to 10 the spiciness of the shrimp is 0. However, the shrimp was still delicious in what seemed to be a coconut sauce. Unfortunately, the shrimp does not come with anything so depending on your appetite, you may want to choose an appetizer. The batter on the friend shrimp was perfectly light and crunchy. The accompanying sauce did not suit my palette but the fish was good without it. The apple pie was OK. The crust was a bit softer than I'm used to and the berry sauce was a bit overpowering but still worth a try. Although the restaurant was extremely busy during my time in Nida, the servers were still hospitable and worked very hard to get the dishes out quickly without any mistakes.

The chicken wings were delicious, a good snack. The pork steak was average. I wouldn't say the mushrooms matched or helped the pork with flavour. I guess taking the schnitzel is a better choice. The potato pancakes were traditional, with nothing to complain. The impression is that: you will definitely get food, which will fill you, but it's not that you remember how good it was. It's not special. It's just a good place to deal with hunger and an opportunity to taste traditional Lithuanian dishes. The terrace is spacey allowing to enjoy food outside. The prices are average, it's not an expensive restaurant.

The prices are a bit expensive but I would say it’s worth it since the food was really tasty and the atmosphere is really cozy and pleasant. The portions are pretty large as well at least for me. So, overall a very nice dining experience.

Legendary place in Nida with lithuanian dishes. The food was very delicious. Though a lot of people and the waiting lines are not rare. I ordered pork with mushrooms, which may look a bit small, but this portion filled me just the right amount, can't complain.
Service R — Google review
Always buzzing with crowds of visitors but always loyal to its set quality standards. I feel true respect for this place cause you never have unpleasant surprises- the waiters are always efficient and welcoming; the food is delicious, varied enough. The portions are always generous and still adequately priced. It is a perfect place for a never disappointing meal.

Pizza di Mare Juodkrantė

Great new find in Juodkrantė! Large variety super delicious and good looking pizzas. Friendly staff, cosy atmosphere (tent style). A bit more pricey, but it’s expected in Curonin Spit.

One of the best places to eat out in juodkrante. Truly a hidden gem. Menu, that has something for everyone. Fast service. Maybe a bit pricey, but worth it.

We are disappointed with the food. The pizza was ok, the mussels were not bad either, but the salmon was overdried, the side dishes were under-salted, the drinks - beer, kvass and cider - were the cheapest and tasteless from the nearest supermarket, they were brought directly in tin cans. Service and staff were good and pleasant.

Really good selection of food, from salads to pasta, to other main dishes and of course pizza, all tasty and delicious. Great coffee, probably best in all of Neringa, and certainly in Juodkrantė. Beautiful and quiet location with outdoor terrace seating surrounded by trees and nature. It is however not cheap, a bit more expensive than even your average restaurant in Neringa.

Great atmosphere and food! The choice of pizzas is very big, some very interesting options. The taste is also amazing and portions are big, we even brought home some leftovers! Amazing 👏

Our hidden place. My choice has always been a pizza and I always enjoyed it.

Great pizza, excellent service, food was out quickly, and price was very reasonable. The setting among the trees was really nice too. Highly recommend!

Nestled near the coast, Žuvelė is a delightful dining spot that caters to families and food enthusiasts alike. With an impressive menu featuring grilled fish that has garnered rave reviews, this restaurant offers something for everyone, including vegan options beyond just salads. Families will appreciate the fantastic playground where kids can play while parents enjoy their meals in peace. The welcoming staff speaks English fluently, ensuring a pleasant experience for non-Lithuanian speakers.
Fresh food, beautiful surroundings, and incredible atmosphere—this is hands down my favorite spot on the island and a must-visit every time I'm in Lithuania. The salad and fish are always incredibly fresh, making it a place I return to again and again!

Above-average fish place facing the lagoon in Juodkrantė. The food is good: I had eel soup and zander; both were quite tasty but not cheap, with prices at the upper end locally. Be aware that local fish like plaice and turbot might not always be available, which is a pity but it is the cost of freshness. I’d recommend the place if you’re craving something other than smoked fish.

Very nice and fresh fish. We ordered the salmon and mackerel with spicy sauce. Super delicious and very nice service. I would come again.

We have had a lovely time having lumch from here today. We were a family of 5, and none of us could speak Lithuanian, but thankfully we got waited on by a lovely young lady with very beautiful english, which made the experience worthwhile. The men had very tasty dumplings in cream sauce, and i and the children had very crunchy and yummy fries and hot chicken figures. We all loved the food and the place. Thank you very much. My pictures only show empty plates.. haha.. as the food was so yummy it was eaten up in a jiffy.😍

I had a great lunch, I'm from Portugal so I'm used to very good fish places and this one didn't disappoint, a bit on the expensive side but I'm happy to pay for a good meal sometimes. I usually take some pictures but this time all I got was empty plates, so I guess that also speaks to how good everything was. I tried fish soap and plekšnė and it was awesome. The view is also great right next to the water promenade.

I wasn’t crazy for Ungurinė the Eel Soup, it was delicious but rather simple, I would expect a bit more culinary imagination put into a €7 soup. However, mains improved my mood significantly. Grilled fish was outstanding: very fresh and cooked to perfection. I’d really recommend Thai flavoured fish, it was simply the best! The whole dish is really big, too, so consider sharing one for two people.

Really good place to eat and good for kids. Food was amazing, esspecialy the fish on grill. I’ve tried all options in different days and they all were amazing. They had even vegan food options which is amazing as it’s not just saladas or starters. Big bonus if you are with kids as they have really cool playground. You can enjoy your meal or drink while keeping an eye on your little ones. Location is perfect as it’s near the coast. Would definetely recommend to others.

Amazing place. Offers superb fish from surrounding waters, also some other traditional Lithuanian food. Large drinks menu, amazing views, central place. Good for families with children, as there is a dedicated outdoors playing station for them. Totally recommend.
