The Orridi di Uriezzo, also known as the Ravines of Uriezzo, is a natural wonder located in the Ossola valley. Formed during the last glaciation, these ravines were created by streams that eroded the rock over time, resulting in narrow valleys and meandering gorges. With the retreat of glaciers, the watercourses withdrew, leaving behind this unique geological formation that can now be easily explored on foot.
Beautiful area to take photos, go for a walk, and swim.

Carefull! Today we got stunned multiple times without reason by a huge (probably European but could also be an Asian-) hornet, at the spot of below pictures (up hill Marmitte dei Giganti, see circle). Could be defending a nest? The hike was nice, ~ 3KM , if you start from the Oratorio di Santa Lucia and follow below route.

Gorgeous place to visit. Ten minutes walk from Premia parking. Unique canyon and a great spot for a summer bath.

During the last glaciation (which ended about 12,000 years ago), the Antigorio Valley was occupied by the extensive Toce Glacier. Countless streams flowed downstream of it, which over time have eroded the rock, generating narrow valleys and meandering gorges. With the retreat of the glaciers, the streams also withdrew and left what are today the Orridi di Uriezzo. Currently, in fact, the watercourses no longer flow within them and it is therefore possible to visit them easily on foot. is one of the most attractive canyons in Piedmont

Stunning! Amazing place! I wish to go back!!!

The "Orridi di Uriezzo" are deep gorges "dug" into the rock by streams that once flowed from the glacier that occupied the Formazza Valley. The walls are carved by the swirling motion of water and violent waterfalls. In some places they are so closed to each other that you cannot see the sky, forming niches and grooves.

RV park
Area Sosta Camper - Alpe Devero is located in a peaceful rural and wooded landscape, surrounded by picturesque hamlets. The area offers tranquility with the sound of the river and is fully equipped near the town center. It's an ideal place for those who enjoy walking and exploring nature, as it is close to Uriezzo Ravines and offers opportunities for fishing along a nearby stream.
Stayed in winter. Only van there. €10 for 12hrs including electric and bins. No water services in winter as it would freeze. This is stated on the website. Very good. Need cash to pay. Don't know about the shower and toilet situation. Next to a nice stream and there were fun goats and horses nextdoor.

(Translated by Google) If you want tranquility with just the sound of the river, this is the ideal place. Fully equipped area near the town center, nothing is missing. Be careful because Google maps takes you to a narrow road that is forbidden to campers. Chiesa Monumentale San Gaudenzio is a historical monument dating back to the 13th century, featuring Romanesque-Gothic architecture. The interior boasts five naves and stunning frescoes. The church offers a spiritual ambiance and picturesque views of the mountains and town. Visitors can embark on a scenic trek through the woods from an arch next to the church, leading to the breathtaking Uriezzo ravines and giants' potholes in just 15-20 minutes.
If you love a church be sure to put this one on your list, it's got it all and at a suggested 2€ for 15 minutes it's a bargain!

Casa del Cappellano "Don Amedeo Ruscetta" is a small village museum that preserves the memories of the agricultural and mountain community of Croveo. It houses a collection of photos, agricultural tools, and furnishings in what was once the Chaplain's house. The museum also showcases the intriguing story of Don Amedeo Ruscetta, known as the "viper priest," who had a deep passion for reptiles and nature.
(Translated by Google) Very interesting is the Museum of the Chaplain Don Amedeo Ruscetta, also known as the "viper priest". Don Ruscetta was a lover of reptiles and a great connoisseur of nature, he captured vipers to extract their poison and deliver it to the Serotherapy Institute of Milan to produce the saving antidote. In the museum there is also a precious collection of ancient cavagnette: vertical compositions at the base of which there is a basket in which a sort of richly adorned tree rests. These heavy structures were carried in procession by young women of marriageable age, thus showing off their strength. Ex Funivia Goglio Alpe Devero is a cable car station in Goglio, featuring frescoes that pay tribute to the Resistance and a small museum dedicated to the partisan Republic of Ossola. The station was once the departure point for a cable car transporting Edison's staff to Alpe Devero. It holds historical significance as it was the site of a tragic fight during World War II.
(Translated by Google) The cable car station in Goglio with frescoes on the Resistance in memory of a tragic episode. Now at the end of the experience of the partisan Republic of Ossola, while the Nazi troops reconquered this strip of land, some partisans sought refuge in nearby Switzerland trying to reach Alpe Devero with the cable car that leaves from the small hamlet of Baceno. About twenty of them climbed into the old cabin with some weapons and some food, which stopped halfway. The partisans became easy targets for the Germans. Some saved themselves by throwing themselves into the vegetation, four others were shot to death. The oldest was 31, the youngest 17.

Nestled in a charming location, Hotel Villa Gina offers an inviting atmosphere perfect for those seeking a cozy retreat. Guests rave about the exceptional quality of the home-cooked meals, served with genuine warmth by the friendly owner family. While some areas may benefit from modernization, the comfortable rooms provide a welcoming space to unwind after a day of exploration. The dining area is spacious and versatile, making it ideal for various gatherings.
(Translated by Google) I give 5 stars because it makes no sense to destroy a local business like this, after a dark period like this, therefore my review only wants to be constructive for the owners: the structure seen from the outside seems to have stuck 50 years ago, the rooms instead 70 years ago; the hotel needs to be modernised. The view is stupendous, but only in the rooms facing the back, because the others face the street. Breakfast unfortunately left us with a bad taste in our mouths, due to the absence of service you have to fill your cup via a dispenser that does a bit of everything, milk, chocolate, coffee, cappuccino etc etc it wouldn't cost anything serve a cappuccino made by you! At the table you will find mini biscuits packaged in plastic bags, which you will have to cover with cherry or apricot preserves, also packaged in plastic. Hoteliers: You have a wealth of local products, such as yoghurt, blueberries, cheeses and cold cuts, it's a shame not to find them on the hotel tables! The rooms, like the interior of the structure, are very clean, but abandoned to themselves: uncovered power sockets, broken tiles, the toilet flushing which, once pressed, makes a lot of noise for several minutes, waking up the neighbors in the room. On the balcony the space is minimal, with exposed pipes covered in rock wool (I think), which is also broken. All things considered, €70 per night is a truly disproportionate figure for what it offers. But in the absence of anything else, this hotel allowed us to enjoy the fantastic Alpe Devero! The staff are really kind and helpful, genuine people! If you improved all these things, you would have a hotel worth the Arabian Nights for the area it is in!

Hotel
Nestled in the heart of the mountains, Hotel Meuble 'Vecchio Scarpone' offers a cozy retreat with its charming wooden rooms and apartments. The hotel features a delightful restaurant that serves up traditional cuisine, perfect for those looking to savor local flavors. Guests have enjoyed friendly service during dinner, although initial reception may vary due to events like baptisms.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Hotel Vecchio Scarpone. Very charming alpine vibe, with rooms that were recently renovated, very stylish and very comfortable. The service was terrific, everyone very friendly and welcoming. Elena took great care of us. Both Elena and others took time to share some interesting facts about the region, and provided numerous suggestions for excursions in the area. We arrived late, just after the restaurant closed but we were able to get something to eat, including a lasagna dish featuring locally sourced wild boar. The breakfast buffet was perfect, great selection of freshly made items, and a buffet with juices, yogurt, bread, coffee and more. Can’t recommend this place enough! Wish we could’ve stayed longer.

We stayed for two nights and had breakfasts and dinners - the hotel was a delightful choice! Our room was new and thought to every detail, the only improvement would be a higher pressure of the hot water in the shower (the room was at the 2d floor). As for the dinner - the staff surprised us with great choice of local but sophisticated dishes, quick service and warm hospitality. Can recommend for a pleasant summer breakfast or dinner outside at the terrace! If you want to hike in the vicinity, it’s a great place to stay.

I only visited the restaurant - it appeared like a gem up on the mountain - very pretty and cared for. Locals inside at the bar. A nice table to choose from many different rooms. The food was good, i don't remember the prices, so i guess they were unremarkable.

Vecchio Scarpone is one of the most charming and clean hotel I ever been in Italy, the restaurant is absolutely delicious and the pastries are amazing. Definitely one of the place to visit and enjoy if you get to this breathtaking area of Italy!

Ristorante Pizzeria Campagna is a hidden gem that truly embodies the essence of authentic Italian dining. Nestled in a welcoming atmosphere, this local favorite offers an extensive pizza menu that will delight any palate. The service is efficient and friendly, ensuring you feel right at home as you savor each bite. With prices that won't break the bank—like their generous Margherita pizza for just 5.5 Euros—you can indulge without guilt!
I came here a year ago! But my god has this place stayed firmly in my mind. Wonderful service and great food in a spectacular location.

Stayed in our van here for a couple of nights and ate here both nights. The pizza menu is extensive - the pizzas great. Night 2 we had pasta/gnocchi - also didn’t disappoint. The set up for campers is great with two outdoor sinks for washing up, a toilet block that is always open and plenty of flat space. What more do you need!
Row D — Google review
Excellent choice for a local place with authentic food, authentic atmosphere and local people. The service is very effective: fast and straight to the point. Prices are wonderful: the Margherita comes for 5.5 Euros, and it's not a small pizza. The meat was deliciously cooked. We paid a decent price for a great experience. I strongly recommend.

Park
Nature & Parks
The Park of Veglia and Alpe Devero is a stunning alpine national park that was established in 1995, covering two u-shaped glacial valleys. It is located in the Alps of Ossola Valley, encompassing the Pennine and Lepontine Alps. Visitors can explore various natural parks and valleys within the area, such as Val Grande National Park, Uriezzo Gorges, Anzasca Valley with Mount Rosa, and more.
A place to visit, easy trekking if you are not fit enough! but it is a Must!!!
Angelo C — Google review
Easy hike even for those who are not experts. Once you reach the upper valley the panorama is incredible, the path is relaxing, there are secluded picnic areas and cottages with restaurants. Great hike for the whole family.

(Translated by Google) The plain is reached via a very sunny mule track on the way out and completely shaded on the way back (1 hour and 5 minutes). Various trails branch off from the plain, with varying levels of difficulty and duration. Two hotels and a refuge are currently open. Before reaching the plain, at the end of the mule track, stop at the cheesemaker for a yogurt or to sample/purchase local cheeses. Avoid Saturdays and Sundays only because of the parking problem, which fills up at 9:30 a.m.; after that, there's room for everyone on the plain.

From there, take a fairly challenging trail that will take you to the Veglia plain in about 1.5 hours. This offers the possibility of a beautiful circular hike, and more. Locanda Punta Fizzi is conveniently situated in a charming village, offering warm and welcoming staff. Although the owner has unique traits, they are friendly and provide helpful advice on local attractions and directions. The restaurant serves excellent cuisine, featuring delectable homemade desserts that leave a delightful impression. Don't miss out on trying their delightful Gentian amaro. With reasonable prices, you can enjoy a satisfying meal accompanied by laughter.
Fabio is the best, super funny, personable & a great host. We went to stay for one night and ended up staying for two. He was supposed to close on our second night but canceled his plans to host us for another night. His kept us well fed with delicious food, mostly homemade by him. His cakes were incredible. He seems to be a local favorite, even the local fox’s come to visit him for dinner every night. Highly recommend if you’re looking for an authentic experience in Alpe Campriolo. My photos don’t do this amazing place justice!

Good food, typical dishes, first tea all polenta with various combinations such as melted local cheese, venison stew, braised beef. Average price, good. Reservations are strongly recommended. Without it it is impossible to have lunch. Pet rooms are also available for overnight stays. Good goal. (Original) Tipica locanda di montagna. Una delle diverse presenti intorno. (Translated by Google) From my personal experience, this is one of the few mountain restaurants where it is worth eating. I highly recommend making a reservation as it has few tables. My boyfriend and I arrived at the restaurant for lunch, walking from Alpe Devero. The restaurant, inside, is characteristic with a fireplace and typical mountain decorations. We were welcomed by Fabio, the owner and the only person who manages both the dining room and the kitchen. A truly likable character! As dishes we had polenta, sausage, braised meat and sautéed mushrooms, all for 2. There wasn't a food that wasn't amazing: the braised meat was succulent and fell apart with the fork, the polenta was well made and soft, the sausage was beautiful tasty and the mushrooms really top! Finally, don't you want to have a nice homemade cake for dessert? All with a drink of water for less than €20 each.

The portions were generous, and all the dishes were delicious. The owner and chef, with a typical mountain character, either love him or hate him, found him very friendly and told us some interesting anecdotes. Highly recommended.
