Detwiler's Farm Market in Venice is a great spot to pick up fresh organic local produce, deli foods, and other picnic fixings. It's conveniently located near Aldi food store and offers a variety of options at cheaper prices than main chain grocery stores. While it can get crowded on weekends, visiting during the week allows for a more pleasant shopping experience. The market also features made-to-order options and a fresh Amish bakery section.
We love shopping at Detwiler’s in Venice! Their fresh fruit and vegetables are always top quality—ripe, flavorful, and reasonably priced. The meat department is just as impressive. We’ve picked up filet and pork chops multiple times, and they’ve always been tender and full of flavor. A great local market with unbeatable freshness and friendly service!

Detwiler’s Farm Market in Venice is hands-down one of my favorite places to shop! They have an incredible selection of fresh, local produce and the fruits and vegetables are always top quality. The deli is excellent, the seafood is fresh and well-priced, and their sub shop makes some of the best sandwiches around. It’s amazing how much they pack into this market — from ice cream and donuts to pantry staples and local favorites, it really has everything you’d expect from a full grocery store but with that friendly, local feel. Always clean, well-stocked, and the staff is super helpful. Highly recommend stopping by whether you’re doing your weekly shopping or just want something fresh and delicious!
Andrew G — Google review
I love you can find good quality meat, fruit and veggies, homemade things like guacamole and dips, orange juice and many others. Raw milk is my favorite thing to find! Kefir too, they have a food section and they make delicious subs and other foods. Also have Ice creams and Açaí bowls to die for! All around an amazing experience!
Rebeca M — Google review
I hope this location gets upgraded soon. Unlike the others this one is cramped and in dire need of an update. Nonetheless, it’s the only place I could find fresh herbs, vegetables, steaks, pork chops, chicken breast and ribs. Staff is amazing here, very helping at the deli, bakery and cashing out. Parking is ok and don’t forget your watermelons as you enter!
Sunny I — Google review
Great place to shop for groceries and pretty good prices.....this market is easy to find and reminds me of farm markets back home in Pa! The veggies were fresh and great variety to:)
Steve C — Google review
The store was busy and clean... The produce section was fabulous you could buy single pieces of fruit apples and such. A very large selection of pumpkins and squash seasonal produce. Mushrooms, deli was really hopping they were running a $7.99 special turkey sub special. Good selection of meats and dairy. Various samples around the store to try out something new the cheese is that day were delicious. We bought some scones and two bottles of Kutztown white Birch beer soda. Definitely the store has the atmosphere and courtesy of other Amish stores we've been in in Lancaster Pennsylvania which was near our old home. The employees couldn't be more friendly and courteous and very helpful in finding things. The store was a bit small but it was busy. In spite of being extremely busy people were coming in and moving out of the store at a fast pace. Would recommend this place if you like wholesome foods good value and a clean environment.
Dan K — Google review
Detwiler’s is hands-down the freshest place to shop around Venice! The produce, seafood, cheese, and dairy are all great quality and priced really well. The staff is always super friendly and helpful, which makes shopping there a pleasure. The only downside is that it can get really crowded, and the aisles feel a bit tight with carts. But honestly, it’s totally worth it for the freshness and prices. Definitely my go-to spot for groceries!

Historical place museum
The 1927 Historic Venice Train Depot is a must-visit for history enthusiasts in the city. Once a working station, it now stands as a museum showcasing local heritage and offering free tours of the building. Operated by the Venice Historical Society, visitors can explore its train history and connection to the Ringling Brothers Circus. The main attraction is a 1953 Pullman Standard train with its original caboose and parts.
We were fortunate to see the Ringling Bros. And Barnum & Bailey train car was open while in the area with our granddaughter. The “conductor” was friendly and informative. The displays were also very enlightening. If you are able, visit this historic piece on Monday, Wednesday or Saturday. I believe it opens at 10am but not sure when it closes.

Love this place. Have so many fond memories here with my family. You have to stop here when traveling by public bus to go back and forth from Sarasota and North Port. We would have to get off and wait for our next bus so we would is the restrooms while there which was 99% of the time super clean ( except one time the restrooms closest to the playground was absolutely nasty but I informed the security officer and he called it in to be cleaned up and definitely was cleaned on our way back) we also let our boys play at said playground more times then I can count. Took them on walks towards the water to see the animals and anything else their little eyes could find. Great place

Beautiful 1927 train station. They have a tour you take, clean bathrooms, and a playground for the kids. The Legacy Trail goes right next to it. You will also find a couple of train cars, one of which is from the Barnum and Bailey Circus. Enjoy
Charles C — Google review
I stopped there while cycling on the Legacy Trail. They have clean bathrooms and I can fill up my water bottle at their water fountain that is specific to filling up water bottles. Lots of places to sit and relax. They have some cool trains from Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus. There is also a playground for kids.

This was a great little rest stop for our ride.

There is now an original restored Ringling Circus car on the premises. It is packed with circus memorabilia and displays. Just opened. Well worth the trip! It is donation only and staffed by volunteers. Open Mon, Wed and Saturday 10 till 1.

Always happy to reach the halfway mark of your LegacyTrail ride. Interesting historic train depot. They have the old Ringling Bros train there
Frank W — Google review
We enjoyed visiting the historic sites of Venice Florida. It was a pleasant learning experience. As these tours are relatively new, the only suggestion I would have to offer would be to talk about more recent history rather than just the focus on the early development of Venice. While it was interesting, there were a lot more recent sites that could have been mentioned while on tour. The tour guide was dressed as a historic character and was talking about the life of that specific personality, some of which had already been discussed while at the train station. In doing so, we passed several places while riding the trolley in Venice that should have earned honorable mention. But overall, it was a great experience.

Historic Downtown Venice, FL is a charming destination on Florida's Gulf Coast that showcases its rich history and architectural beauty. The area is known for its preservation of historic buildings and vibrant cultural scene. Visitors can enjoy the nearby Venice Beach for stunning sunsets and sandy shores, as well as explore the bustling downtown with its restaurants, boutiques, and Italian influence. Fishing enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity to prime fishing spots, while souvenir hunters can search for ancient shark teeth along the shoreline.
Cute little town with a great variety of shops and restaurants. They also do a farmers market on Saturdays 8AM-1PM on 401 W. Venice Ave. Parking is free and there’s a big parking lot in the middle. There are also public restrooms. Everything’s in walking distance.

This is the most beautiful lovely little town. Vary quiet area. This square has lots of shops and resturaunts. Great for walking and doing some shopping for souvenirs and beach attire. Art and home decorations. Lots of vary good resturaunts to choose from to stop and grab a bite. The Historic Square is right down the street from the Venice Pier.

Downtown Venice feels like stepping into a postcard that never fades. The Mediterranean architecture, bright flowers, and palm-lined streets create the perfect mix of elegance and coastal charm. Every corner feels cared for and full of life. The shops are both familiar and unique, the people are friendly, and the whole area carries a timeless, relaxed warmth filled with sunshine. We spent a week here for our anniversary, and every night felt like a dream. Romantic dinners, moonlit walks, and my husband absolutely spoiling me. Venice made it easy to fall in love all over again, both with the town and with him! ❤️

Amazing place to visit, very township-type of area with great shops and restaurants. Obviously very touristy, but if you come at night, it’s absolutely beautiful and stunning. A secret little area to explore and discover while you are in downtown. If you are looking for something to do and you’re new to the area, definitely recommend checking out downtown Venice; it’s worth it!

Beautiful 😍The atmosphere is so calm and perfect weather for FL walks during the summer. Also: the Venice beach has free parking and is great for lounging on the beach and for shark teeth hunts, since Venice is shark tooth capital of the US! Cute boutiques, shops, cafés, and restaurants.

Venice is beautiful! Cute, European style, nice shops, usually some activities (live music, art fairs, etc) and the Main Street concludes with the beautiful Venice Beach!

The area and the buildings are nice. But the shopping area in district, leaves much to be desired. They should really remove some of the real estate business and get some stuff that is more attractive to people wanting to shop and spend money. Just not a lot to do or choose from in the area.

A small quiet beach access with just the right amount of essential amenities. Bathroom, spray off shower, beautiful boardwalk, covered picnic tables, a few charcoal grills and a beautiful beach. There is also a bike rack to lock up if bring your bike. The parking lot isnt huge but there is over flow across the street. We love our beach park! This beach changes with every major storm and hurricane, it both devastating and beautiful. The beach is gorgeous at night with stars all around. Stay long enough and you can see even more!

Service Club Park is a true coastal gem that left me thoroughly impressed! The beach is pristine, and usually not crowded, perfect for a relaxing day by the water. One of the highlights was hunting for shark teeth along the shore—an exciting treasure hunt that added a unique thrill to the visit. The covered picnic areas are a fantastic touch, offering ample shade and well-maintained tables that make for a comfortable and enjoyable meal with family or friends. I also appreciated the outdoor shower area, which was clean and convenient for rinsing off after a day in the sand and surf. Service Club Park combines natural beauty with thoughtful amenities, making it a must-visit spot for anyone looking to enjoy a perfect beach day!

Very nice place to go and watch the sunset in Venice. Parking is about 150 ft from the beach. There are restrooms. There is a picnic area with benches and shelter before getting to beach area (not sure if you have to reserve, but thinking so because there were numbers over the pavilions). Beach was clean. Would definitely go back.

We had a great couples lunch here and enjoyed Chad, our server, watched the football game, and had a fantastic Turkey sandwich, lunch Caesar salad, bowl of chowder and some tasty draft beers. It’s upscale casual and a great place for a casual meal/drink. VictorB

Consistently Delicious with Exceptional Service Café Venice never disappoints! The food is always on point--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service is just as wonderful--friendly, welcoming, and always attentive - even when they’re ridiculously busy A couple of months ago, we had an Osso Buco special that was so incredible we found ourselves craving it again. Luckily, it's on the main menu, though it was served a little differently than we remembered. The special had a thicker sauce served over the mashed potatoes, whereas this time, the sauce was a bit thinner, and the potatoes were on the side, with the pork bone sticking out. Still just as delicious, just a different presentation. I decided to try something new but similar--the Country French Pot-Au-Feu. Its sauce was more beef stock-based rather than tomato-based, giving it a deeper, more savory flavor. Essentially, it's a fancy pot roast, but wow, was it delicious! Tender, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the Chasseur sauce, mashed potatoes, and vegetables. Portions were more than generous, and everything was just as good the next day. Can't wait to go back!

Place is great! To start, the espresso martini was legitimately perfect. I ordered the pasta special that was shrimp in an old bay sauce and it was so good (wish I didn’t eat it so quick before I remembered to take a picture). The music for the night was also great on a Saturday night. I’d recommend this place and certainly come back.

We passed by here last Thursday after dinner at another restaurant and were so attracted by the beautiful singing that we had to have another drink at the bistro bar… This Thursday we reserved a table in advance and listened to Nick's Italian songs in the tavern again while trying the food in the tavern. Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna is so delicious; Served with Seaweed Salad, Beets and Guacamole was fresh and delicious, with a wonderful combination of food variety and color.. It happened to be Halloween night, it was so exciting, with singing and dancing, delicious food...an unforgettable and happy night.

Had an awesome dinner or server was fantastic. Was able to make reservations for 4 at 6 pm. The bar area had live music and we sat in the other room and the music was nice, wasn’t too loud. Nice wine selection, we tried a sip before we ordered the whole bottle. Huge menu.

Our experience at Venice Cafe went beyond expectations! Despite the restaurant being busy, the service was friendly, welcoming, prompt, and thoughtful. We felt well taken care of from the moment we walked in until we left. From the moment we walked in, the welcoming service and live music set a great tone. The kids loved their sandwiches and fries, while the chicken salad was perfect—tender chicken and exactly as we ordered. The fresh mussels were a highlight. Every detail was on point, making the evening enjoyable and memorable for delicious food, very attentive service, and a great atmosphere!

While there are many excellent culinary possibilities in historic downtown Venice, Florida, this one is definitely worth a stop if you have a little money in your pocket. The food here is second in quality to very few. Across-the-board: drinks, appetizers, mains, desserts. There is a strong variety of food, so most people are likely to find something that they want, regardless of what they are looking for. There is a full bar that offers pretty much anything you could ask for, although they did not have sloe gin when I asked for it (I am going to imagine that not too many people ask for it, at all, but they probably do not get too many requests for drinks that are off the menu or unusual). Service is swift and professional. Our server was Katie and she was definitely top shelf. Our party ordered a variety of dishes that included gyoza and eggplant appetizers, osso buco, seafood pasta, vegan lasagna, crispy roasted duck, pot roast, and stuffed fish (flounder, I think?). We ordered red wine by the bottle, a French 75, and a traditional Moscow mule. When I say you could not ask for a better preparation for any of the dishes, I am serious. The flavors and the doneness for each were exactingly executed. Our deserts: creme brulee, Irish cream cheesecake, and key lime pie slices were all fantastic. The atmosphere might be regarded as slightly nicer than casual, but not formal. Nighttime ambiance is warm and subdued, maybe at the very edge of intimate, particularly if you can get away from the noise of the bar. Prices are relatively high, but not obscene. You will not feel like you paid too much, most likely. The quality is worth it. The positive problem with Venice is that when you turn any corner in the historic district, you may run into another wonderful restaurant. This one, probably numbers among the best in the area, but that's sort of like comparing any number of works of art. The big challenge for you is likely to be picking the style that you are looking for on any given day. I guess if I had any caveats, I would say look out for the parking. If you have been to historic downtown Venice, then you know why.

D'Angelo's Subs & Salads is a well-established daytime counter-serve eatery that offers a wide variety of hot and cold sandwiches, as well as soups and salads. Customers seem to have had an excellent first experience, with praises for their meatball sub, Italian sandwich, falafel wrap, and Philly Cheese Steak. The friendly and helpful staff at the counter provide great service, while a local customer shared tips about nearby parks and beaches.
This was our second time visiting this place. The Italian sub is so good we had to stop and have it again when we visited. Potatoe salad and waffle fries are delicious too! Huge portions! We also took our dog to the outdoor seating!

Got $70 worth of food for delivery, ordered a chicken salad and payed for EXTRA meat and I was given a HUGE bowl of iceberg lettuce with 10 little chunks of chicken along with barley and veggies and a TON of croutons mixed with the chicken chunks. Not worth $15... I also got a turkey sandwich and selected to get a wrap instead of regular bread and they gave me regular bread instead of my wrap, I am sensitive to bread I had to take the meat off the sandwich and eat it on its own. My girlfriend enjoyed her food but for the almost $30 I payed for my main entrees it was not worth it at all. Waste of money... Probably going to call my credit card company and dispute the purchase at least for my items....

Interesting find calling in my order over hear background get their number because you know they don’t be paying or whatever slick comments I assumed her I was hungry and wanted my order Polite young lady on the phone disappointing food The canned spoiled sour tasting mushrooms on the sandwich had to be taken off for me to eat The old soggy tomatoes on top of fresh lettuce made matters worse I liked the potato salad made nice spice combo I’d give the potato salad a 4 out of 10 other than that I was not impressed, the quality of the food which was over all poor from using old soggy sour mushroom on my sandwich and old soggy cucumber and tomatoes.

Was recommended to me, so I had to try. I went with the large Italian comes with many herbs and oil if you choose...which I did. The sub comes with a bag of chips. The sub was very tasty with many flavors with each bight. It was busy with many regulars, I was treated well and waited on quickly. I highly recommend. I could only eat half. I had the second half for dinner. Fabulous

Thai restaurant
Thai Bistro in Venice, Florida offers an array of traditional Thai dishes with a cozy ambiance. The restaurant prides itself on providing homestyle meals that cater to various dietary needs, including vegan and gluten-free options. Owned and helmed by chef Kwan Taylor, the eatery has become a go-to spot for those seeking the flavors of southern Thailand. With reasonable prices and generous portions, customers can expect high-quality cuisine that caters to different spice preferences.
Authentic, delicious Thai food. Excellent and super quick service. We ordered the fresh rolls with chicken, red curry with chicken, and “Amazing” sautéed plate with chicken. Everything tasted great and fresh. I kid you not, we probably only waited 10 minutes for our food. I was pleasantly surprised! Spice level was just right. The restaurant was impeccably clean and I could see a little bit into the kitchen, which was very clean and organized as well (always a good sign!). Would definitely come back here again. Also, the rice was served in a heart shape which was so cute.

Best Drunken Noodles I've ever had. I had work in the area and ate lunch there every day. I had the drunken noodles, red curry, pad kra prow, and volcano. Each time, they served a soup de jour, and they were all excellent. Select your spiciness from mild to Thai hot. The staff is attentive and courteous. The vegetables are super fresh and high quality. It was my coworker's first experience with Thai food, and she was very much in love with her meal. If I could give them 6 stars, I would.

No worries, I called in my order for pickup as I literally live within a 5 minute drive. My order was read back to me on the phone and all was good. I arrived a few minutes before the food was ready which was perfect because that meant everything will be hot when I got home. I ordered for 4. Two curry dishes, two drunk noodle dishes, and three apps. One of the curry dishes was ordered with a hot spice level. The other three were medium spice. None of the three medium had any discernible level of spice added other than I could see a few black specks I took to possibly be a black pepper. The hot spice curry dish had a low level of spice added. In addition to the disappointing spice level, it was noted that the two drunk noodle dishes lacked a sufficient amount of vegetables. And while the dishes were hot enough, hotter than warm but not by much, one drunk noodle dish was supposed to include chicken with an additional pork added. It only included pork. One of the apps was Steamed dumplings and looked unusual and tasty. I have never seen dumplings like these. Served with a plumb sauce, I looked forward to trying one. It was barely above room temperature. We could have heated them in our microwave so not a big deal but still disappointing. We did not finish them. Another app was deep fried wontons. Again, not hot. Just warm. They lacked flavor beyond the fried portion and some were left uneaten as well. It was as if the apps were prepared first and left waiting for the entrees to be made. Other than the spice level of the curry dishes, the only other disappointment was that the sauce was too watery and not thick enough compared to other favored restaurants. I was looking forward to having a great Thai meal so close to home. Having read the reviews I was certain this would be the spot. I hope this was a one off bad experience and not normal.

INSANE, insane rip off! This place used to be great, but wow they have gotten bad on their portions… complete rip off… a $22 Tofu plate, they gave us 7 small pieces… and then we complained and the owner brought TWO single pieces of tofu to add. Absolutely crazy. Then got loud and aggressive when we said we would like to send the food back. When you grouped the tofu together, it wasn’t enough to fit in the palm of your hand.

While in a medical office, the employees overheard us talking about Thai Bistro for lunch and vouched that this place is the best in the whole town for Thai food. We loved everything that we got. Thai tea wasn't too sweet or heavy from the cream, calamari was lightly fried yet really crispy, and both entrees just delectable! I had never had soft shell crab in a curry before, but it was delightful, and I was surprised to see a big piece of it underneath the veggies. Husband had enough of his pad thai to take home for dinner and enjoy it again that same night. It was so good that he said he wouldn't mind driving far-ish to come back.

I've been coming here for most of their twenty years in business. Happy anniversary! Great Thai food, really nice selection i'd say they have a large selection of delicious food and some really good desserts too. I especially like the Beef Noodle soup not a lot of Thai restaurants offer this item. I lived in Thailand for two years and loved and lived on this soup it was from a cart in Thailand. I must say I love it from this place too! It comes pre spiced but I like to add more, one of the dishes that can be really spicy and hot too, and I like it that way. I'll be there again tomorrow specifically for the Noodle Soup, it's great.

Our dining experience at Thai Bistro in Venice, Florida, was a delightful one, albeit with minor room for improvement. From the moment we entered the restaurant, the staff greeted us with warm smiles, setting a positive tone for the rest of the evening. The service was friendly, efficient, and prompt, showing a keen commitment to customer satisfaction. Our orders were taken quickly, and the food arrived within a reasonable timeframe, allowing us to savor our meal without unnecessary delays. The food itself was flavorful, a showcase of Thai culinary artistry. However, there was one significant concern - the spice level. I had ordered my dish "Thai hot", anticipating the bold, fiery flavors synonymous with Thai cuisine. Unfortunately, the spice level fell short of my expectations, leaning more toward mild than hot. When I brought this to our waitress's attention, her solution was to provide a spice tray rather than offering to adjust the dish in the kitchen. While I appreciated her prompt response, I couldn't help but feel slightly disappointed by the lack of engagement in resolving the issue to my satisfaction. Despite this minor setback, I must say that the overall dining experience was enjoyable. The ambiance was pleasant, and the remainder of the meal was delightful. This bistro undoubtedly offers a little piece of Thailand right here in Venice, Florida. I am leaving a four-star review in the hope that Thai Bistro takes this constructive feedback into consideration and makes the necessary adjustments to ensure the 'Thai hot' indeed reflects the rich and fiery flavors we all love about Thai cuisine. Thai Bistro remains a good choice for Thai food lovers, and I look forward to our next visit, hopeful for an even better experience.

Fins At Sharky's on the south end of Venice overlooks the Gulf of Mexico with decks and indoor dining. They are best known for their steak, sushi and wine list.
I had the best birthday meal you can imagine! Pia, our server, did an amazing job giving us great suggestions with lots of smiles! The lobster tail was delicious and my husband had the pork chop, which was wonderful. We were also treated to a dessert on the house, which was so nice! We had crème brûlée and it was the best we've ever had. Thank you, Fins, for a wonderful evening to celebrate my birthday.🎉

The water view from this restaurant is spectacular!!! This is not an ordinary restaurant to have your meal. Prices are higher. Make sure you check their menu ahead of time, but it's so worth it! You get what you pay for it, right? We had lunch and each dish was beautifully arranged with a little special touch. The food we had was delicious!!! They brought some bread with 4 different types of butter for us to taste. I have never tasted such delicious combinations. The servers were outstanding. The environment is clean and pleasant. While in Venice, try it!

We went during happy hour from 4-6 p.m. and were amazed. The pork belly burrito's crust was so soft, and the pork belly was incredibly flavorful. The fish burrito was high-end quality, with incredibly fresh fish and vegetables...and I'm usually picky, but I couldn't say enough. The mini burgers were a family favorite...and during happy hour, both food and drinks were $6-9. The restaurant doesn't skimp on quality for its low prices; they prioritize the quality of their food.

Paid $220 for a million - dollar view paired with a culinary disappointment. I could feel the owner’s pride in the cleanliness, premium ingredients, and thoughtful presentation - all of which deserve five stars. Unfortunately, the actual execution from the kitchen fell far short of the promise of a true luxury dining experience. The sushi rice was overcooked and overwhelmed with vinegar, leaving it harshly sour rather than balanced. Quite the contrast between the real shrimp and crab and a poor execution of the recipe. The steak tartare was bland, the fries tasted like reheated frozen potatoes, the burger tasted just good enough to eat , and even the $44 steak was unimpressive enough to leave unfinished. This place has all the right elements - location, ingredients, and presentation - but until the cooking skill matches the ambition, it cannot deliver on its luxury claim. It’s a beautiful stage with amateur execution - smoke and mirrors at luxury prices. Also I might be reading too much into it but the hostess has a naughty side eye I couldn’t understand the reason for getting. One more thing- be ready for a server to bring you an electronic device alongside with your check, and force you pick one of three tip options : 20%, 25%, and 30 %. No other tipping options. Not a big deal however a strange set up.

Quite literally one of the top places you NEED to go to in Venice, FL. From service, to drinks, to food, to view, and everything in between, it was nothing short of marvelous. First things first, our waiter Tim was absolutely amazing. Very patient, very attentive, and he gave phenomenal service from beginning to end. Secondly, that piñata colada I had was the BEST one I have ever tasted. Not even joking when I saw that I will dream about that drink! The atmosphere and the view were stunning. Then the food came out and just swept my entire family off of our feet. We ate at multiple places on our trip there, this by far was the best. Exceptional to say the very least. (And the most affordable out of all of them!) HIGHLY recommend to anyone. We will definitely be coming back there any given chance. Thank you, Fins! 💙 P.s.- Would've had some pics of the food, but we did not wait to dig in. 😅 (Even our picky eaters loved the food! That says A LOT.)

This was one of the best sashimi dinners I’ve had. The proportions were 3 times larger than 99% of the restaurants I’ve eaten. They were very tasty and tender. The oysters were the bomb and the chef knows how to serve them “not stuck to the shell” The service was top notch. I’ll be back for sure.

Day 2

East side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the east side side of town. Start the day off with South Jetty Beach, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Brohard Paw Park. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Nestled alongside the stunning South Jetty Beach, this destination is a haven for those who appreciate the beauty of nature. The beach is renowned for its excellent surfing and fishing opportunities, making it a favorite among outdoor enthusiasts. As you stroll along the paved jetty, you'll be captivated by the powerful waves crashing against the rocks, especially during sunset when the sky transforms into a canvas of vibrant colors. For those seeking tranquility away from bustling crowds, South Jetty Beach offers an idyllic escape.
There's a shaded part next to the rocks area when I like to sit after my morning walks. The herons are friendly and you can get beautiful photos. Also, look for the manatees. I haven't been lucky to spot one. They're plenty of parking during the morning. Some ppl stayed in their car and just waited to see manatees.

The place is closed because the last hurricane damaged absolutely everything. This used to be a great place to walk, relax, enjoy the view, fish. Who knows how long this will take to be back to public access, and it looks like it will not happen in the near future, there are no sings of any work being done at all.

The Jetties were absolutely beautiful! They keep the beaches extremely clean. It wasn’t so packed that you couldn’t enjoy it. I love going here to collect beautiful shells and watch for dolphins. It didn’t disappoint I found so many beautiful shells, gorgeous pictures of the beautiful views and more dolphins sightings than I kept count. Wonderful place to take a walk, watch the sun rise or set, fish and so much more. Parking was very reasonable I believe it was $12. The lady that assisted with parking was so friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be returning as much as possible.

It's definitely one of my favorite locations to sit and listen to a book and just enjoy the beautiful scenery. This spot is a great spot to park your vehicle and take a beautiful walk along the water. There is a nice parking lot, nice little restaurant, and plenty of benches and picnic tables along the beautiful water. Great spot to fish. It's definitely one of my favorite spots.

Cool spot, literally. If you set up close to the parking lot there are pine trees that will provide shade all morning and into the early afternoon on the beach. It’s usually pretty sparsely populated. There’s a snack shack (Jetty Jacks) with bathrooms a few 100 yards away. Parking is free and aplenty.

Nice place to explore and look at wildlife. The water is beautiful and you can watch the boats come in right next to the pier. If the tide isn't too strong you might see manatees and dolphins swimming by. There's a lot of cool birds that don't mind you walking up to them to take close pictures.

This is a nice ocean side park. Large gravel parking lot. Some limited beach access. Great place to fish though the jetty was closed when I visited. Lots of benches and rocks to sit on. Great place to just relax and watch the boats go by.

Beautiful park on the Jetty, Venice side. They are absolutely stunning views and a nice spot to watch boats and fishermen. You can see the fish as you walk along the water. So beautiful. There were a couple of dolphins showing off for us. It's just an absolute beautiful park to enjoy a quiet evening. Definitely recommend visiting this park. The pier is closed. And there is a small restaurant inside the park as well. Great environment and plenty of parking.

Water so clear you can see lots of fish and colors so awesome you have to smile. It was hot, but the breeze was solid. Got to see lots of fish and dolphins, plus some full time shenanigans with people passing by on their boats. Great day out and about and highly recommend stopping by.

The South Jetty doesn't show up on the tourist map, yet it's the best place in the city to watch the sunset. Dolphins and pelicans often come here to play, surrounding the fishermen and others who come out to the jetty. Parking is tight, but there always seems to be a spot open, and it's free parking. Even the bathrooms are pretty good. On stormy and windy days, you can come out here to watch the waves crash against the rocks of the jetty to send huge sprays into the air. There's always a new surprise here.

Wonderful place with some epic views. I saw pelicans, an egret, dolphins, and various other fish and birds I don't know the names of. My friends and I came down here to take it in and watch the boats come in and out of the inlet. Water was beautiful and the people were pretty friendly. Pretty cool place!

A great place to take your family! Nice jetty to fish from...we saw tons of dolphins..birds..the kids saw an octopus caught there by a fisherman and saw it climb back into the water! Nice bathrooms at the entrance..benches all the way down the right side of the parking to sit and enjoy the water and boats coming in..on the left side parking there are picnic tables! There is a concession stand with the restroom area to grab some waters.. nice beach a few yards away from the Jett.. never seems crowded at the beach.. IF YOU come around 4 you can get a great parking place and stay until the sunset which is beautiful! If you try to come later than 4/4:30 it is veryyy unlikely to get parking and the stress from fighting for one is crazy. So come early and enjoy the evening!!!

Great parish beautiful church and great priests. Always an insightful homily, they also have great speakers that come for talks. They have a lot to offer here. Haven't been since the renovations started as we moved out of the area but looking forward to returning next time

The homily was great but this is a perfect service for the catholic who doesn’t go to Mass often. All responses are on a projected screen so you can follow along like a school kid. This can’t be blamed on renovation. There are books behind each chair if you must follow along. The priest’s responses just prior to consecration (Blessed are you Lord God of all creation for through Your goodness we have this bread to offer…) were all said while the cantor sang and the offering plate was being passed. Hence no parishioners response was said. I would not go again.

A beautuful church in Venice, Florida. This is a spectacular location that a lot of locals cherish for generations and come back here even if they moved away and visit the area occasionally. I am especially grateful because I can attend the Mass in my native language- Polish every Sunday here at 12.30 pm. This is a stunning church with wonderful pastors. This church is a unique spot- full of love and enthusiasm. It is currently ongoing renovations but even then the pastor and the priests made sure there is a way to perform the Holy Mass every weekend/ day. They are very devoted to their church and the people attending. We are forever grateful for being a part of this amazing Family.

Not too disabled friendly . I’m a disabled vet corpsman. A young 64 . I’m on a walker with entire spine needing reconstruction after 2 surgeries . I have two types of cancer from military, I just had a cardiac Ablasion a month ago and just got out of hospital with a blood clot in my lung . I left church after the sex crimes scandal and started back after reading excorcist father martins book ‘Excorcist files” it’s a few priests 1% not the whole church . So I’m back . I try not to attract attention .im horribly self conscious about my disabling just started on walker a year ago until they can hipefyrepaif my spine . They put reserved for disabled but teen they put them do ushers sit there . Then put disabled seats where you will be in the way if you have a walker or wheelchair . Most churches have the back rows for disabled people . I sit on end seat near the center aisle . My side bike seats now fit a usher . A Filipino lady starts telling me to move my walker from the isle . Grabs my walker . Moves uf . Controlling . I need it to stand up and down fir service . I will move it when it’s in the way . I was raised in that culture and get the control . Maybe she was trying to be nice but I just want to be left alone . So it’s tense all mass . Then time to receive the host . Usher now wants my walker folded . Nice enough but I’m already feeling bad now everyone is looking at me so I leave . Disabled people mostly know when to move out of the way . Just leave people alone . I drink water during mass because I had vocal cord cancer surgery and it’s a medical thing . It’s allowed fyi . You never know someone’s story . Be kind but leave people alone. It would be nice to have back rows for actual REAL disabled people .its a nice church . I’ll probably go back and try again . We recently got back to Florida and have been looking around to see what church is good for us . We like 5:30 mass .

Centennial Park, located on Venice Avenue, is a charming and popular venue for various events and community gatherings. It features a gazebo, picnic spots, walking paths, open spaces, and shaded areas. The park is known for hosting car shows, farmers markets, and other activities. It also offers an interactive splash pad for kids to enjoy. Additionally, the park provides clean facilities including public restrooms and is easily accessible through Sarasota County's Breeze Transit network.
Awesome Park! A true classic on Venice Island, and one with significant historical value too. For its location, it’s quite large, and when you catch it at the right time, it’s truly beautiful. The layout is fantastic, and I absolutely love the areas and trees they’ve thoughtfully placed around it. Everything feels like it was designed to seamlessly fit into the surrounding environment, which gives the park a unique charm. It’s a place I’d gladly visit any day, whether for a short walk or just to relax. For tourists, this is a spot I highly recommend checking out when you’re in the area. Just make sure it’s not during the hot or humid parts of the day, as you’ll want to fully appreciate the tranquility and beauty this park offers. Coming when it’s quieter, when fewer people are around, allows you to really take in the atmosphere and understand the meaning and value of the park in its entirety.

Love this park! We’ve been to A Tuba Christmas in December to playing in the splash pad in July to visiting various arts and craft shows at this location throughout the whole year. There is a public restroom, which is maintained in good working order, and plenty of parking to supplement the spaces on the street. Great theater and venue. Parking was free, close and orderly getting in and out. Staff was very helpful. Not a bad seat in the house. A lovely, small theater venue with a fine, rotating schedule that features live entertainment of the musical and theatrical variety. Seating is comfortable. They have a bar with a surprisingly varied menu and you're welcome to take your beverages into the theater. Music filled the main reception area when we were there and the performance of To Kill a Mockingbird was pretty well sold out. The acting was of solid quality for the size of the venue. There are two theaters in the facility: one larger than the other, and judging by the posters hanging about the main entry, there are improvements coming to the facility. If you're looking for live theater in the Venice area for sensible prices, then you need look no further.

Prices are very reasonable. Box office is not open for walk-up sales. Gift certificates and student prices are available. Presently, masks are optional but strongly suggested. Snacks and cocktails are sold before shows and during intermission. A recent World Fest drew theater group performances from all over the world. Venice Theater offers "great stories well played." We love this dog Beach. Everyone pretty much let's their dogs off leash (better to have them off the leashes so there are no fights!) it's a bit of a walk out to the beach, but it's worth it. Be weary of storms, they roll in fast

We traveled 1.5 hrs to experience this beach and it was well worth it. Plenty of parking on the side of the road. Path way to the beach was clean and a short walk. The beach area is huge for it to be a dog beach compared to others we’ve been to. Friendly dogs, friendly owners. People were okay when ours visited them. There’s a dog wash area with two hoses and concrete floor. And also a rinse area for humans. The only thing I would do differently next time is wear water shoes. The sand was painfully hot today. My dogs toe beans didn’t seem to mind but mine did lol

Really cool dog beach vey clean and quite. If you have fur babies they will enjoy their day here. And they have a dog park as well. You can also let your pup off the lead if you wish

This is dang near the only public place you can take your dog to the Beach (legally) in Venice/Nokomis area. The area is fully fenced from entrance all the way out to the beach. Once on the beach you must stay within the bounds of the park property. It is clearly marked. This park is clean and well maintained. There are drinking areas for your pup. Hoses to clean yourself and your dog. I really enjoy all the dog owners that frequent this park. Everyone is always very nice and all the dogs I’ve come across have been so sweet. My dog is a lover of all sizes of dogs and she hasn’t come across any ill mannered K9’s. This puts me at ease when we visit. I understand that all dogs deserve to visit parks but if your dog is aggressive I honestly don’t think an off leash dog park is the place for that. We visit biweekly and enjoy each visit.
Olivia — Google review
Such a great dog park. Lots of happy doggos! Safe fenced spaces with two separate areas for large and small pets. There are benches and shade as well as water for a quick wash after playing. The fenced area leads to the beach and there’s plenty of play space.
G M — Google review
I’ve been here twice so far. The first time was better than the second. I keep my dogs on a leash when we aren’t playing ball. My dogs do not run off to pee on other people’s possessions nor do they go cause trouble to others. It would be nice if others could be more pet respectful and responsible while visiting the beach. Don’t bring your aggressive dog.

Italian restaurant
Luna Restaurant, a renowned establishment situated near downtown Venice, boasts an exquisite architectural structure and a charming outdoor patio adorned with captivating lighting during the evening hours. Widely celebrated for its delectable Italian cuisine, Luna is particularly renowned for its exceptional pizzas. However, it is important to note that the restaurant's owners and staff are known for their straightforward demeanor, which may not appeal to everyone. Furthermore, Luna exclusively accepts cash payments.
Amazing authentic Italian meals. The servings are extremely generous. 1 order can easily feed 2 people or you have plenty of left overs to take home for the next couple days. Service was great and friendly, lots of fun memorabilia to look at on the walls. Need some more Cowboys items! Ha! 🤠🏈

It's a family-style Italian restaurant where you get a large portion of a dish to share. We ordered spaghetti with meatballs, which was delicious and more than enough for two people. The only downside is that they only accept cash. The waitress informed us in advance, and we had cash, but it would have been more convenient if they accepted credit cards. The decor was interesting, and overall, it's a cool place.

Luna is a complete gem! Her restaurant.... magnificent!! & the food.... to die for!!! Can't wait to go back. They are cash only & this caught me & my son off guard when we made the special trip for date night. I asked if I could cash app her immediately. She shooed me off & said she'd hear nothing of it. To eat & enjoy & send her a check! 🥰 Luna❤️

One of the most unique dinner places you’ll find. Outside, the garden and outdoor dinning area make you feel like you are out the country. Inside, a unique collection of memorabilia! So much to look at, such great food. Such great service! Amazing owner. A must if you are in the area. Bring cash (cash only) and make sure you check out the closed days which are Monday and Tuesday. Being an appetite!

The hostess was a very classy lady that told Us we could sit where ever we liked . You will Not leave hungry the food is so good and they give you so much , we ordered lasagna and we could have fed 4 people!! Easily and they gave us more bread haha !!! You didn’t have to ask for anything !!! Excellent service !!! Great Italian food!! The place for Italian … an the atmosphere is so amazing you want to walk around and just study all The pictures on the walls . Very remarkable place .

Very cool atmosphere and super friendly staff. The meal started with bread and a garlic dip that was absolutely amazing. Went with the Caesar salad which was more than enough for three of us. Ordered the chicken parm and spaghetti and meatballs. The chicken parm was amazing but not what we expected for a family style meal- small portion and a bit pricy. The spaghetti and meatballs was a nice size plate (but only two meatballs). Don’t get me wrong, the atmosphere and the taste of the food make this a great place to eat!

Lunas is an absolute gem! The portions here are huge, and the prices are more than fair for the amount (and quality) of food you get. Every dish that came out looked incredible, and the flavors backed it up—fresh, hearty, and clearly made with care. It’s rare these days to find a restaurant that delivers both value and quality like this, but Luna nails it. Friendly service, generous servings, and excellent food at a price that won’t break the bank. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Florida—come hungry, because you definitely won’t leave that way!

I love lunas. I went here mant time with my family and even on my first date with my now fiance before we moved away. I went back to visit and the food and service were just not the same. The server was clueless, and the food was lukewarm when it came out... when I politely asked if it was supposed to be that way... he just stared at me blankly and said.. thats what the dish is. The tap water tasted so bad we had to get coke. The cashier lady was very kind tho. I loved lunas, and its sad to see them like that. I hope they can redeem themselves.

Customers can enjoy generous portion sizes and a range of treats including flavored popcorns, milkshakes, floats, and slushees. Very nice creamery. There are only a few places that I can go out to eat with my little daughter because she has diabetes. Here we always get sugar free ice cream that tastes pretty close to a real one 👍

2 adults and 2 teens. We stopped after the fireworks on the 4th of July. Long line but the service was fast and efficient. Friendly staff. Original choice of hard ice cream such as "cannoli custard" in addition to the classics. Lots of taste, very creamy, generous portion. Tables and chairs inside and public benches outside. Around $10 to $14 / person. Highly recommend.

A Sweet Spot for the Whole Family 🍦💕 Venice Avenue Creamery has become one of our favorite family stops in Venice! The atmosphere is bright and welcoming, and the ice cream is absolutely delicious — creamy, flavorful, and with a wide variety of choices to keep everyone happy. We’ve enjoyed ourselves every time we’ve visited, and it’s become a special treat to take our children here. Watching their faces light up as they choose their flavors (and sneak a few bites of ours!) makes it even more memorable. It’s the perfect spot for a family outing, a casual date, or just cooling off on a warm Florida day. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a place that’s just as much about the experience as it is the ice cream! 🍨✨

Restaurant
Daiquiri Deck Island of Venice is a popular hangout spot in downtown Venice, offering a relaxed atmosphere, creative daiquiris, and live music. With nearly 30 years of experience, this location is one of the five in Southwest Florida. The oyster bar is a highlight, serving raw, steamed, or Casino-style oysters. Visitors can also join the Monday Night Daiquiri Dash for a fun experience.
To start off my review, I have to give a shout out to Oli, not only did he make amazing drink recommendations, but he was attentive, fun, and made the experience all that much better. Secondly, I love daiquiris more than I love the food here. As a critique to whomever is in charge for the food menu, prices are way too high for the portion and quality, and I've had better for less. Peek the photo of the fish and chips...I definitely will be eating elsewhere when I'm looking for food. But I will be coming back for Oli, he saved the 5-star.

We arrived at 9 p.m., when everyone is usually tired and you have to make an effort to smile at the customers. But our server, William, took wonderful care of us. He came over several times to ask if everything was okay and if we needed anything else. We liked the service; we didn't have to wait long. We also accidentally ordered a plate of something, which they kindly brought to you without any problem. We also thought the portions would be bigger, considering the price. Otherwise, it's a clean place, and the bathrooms are clean too.

Hello friends, I was in the area and saw this establishment called Daiquiri Deck Island and went in to try the restaurant. The establishment is located across a section park called Centennial Park which houses free parking and restrooms. The restaurant has an outdoor patio with seating and sometimes they do live music. Inside is an open floor with a bar to the back wall. We ordered the daiquiri specials with Strawberries flavors. We ordered a lobster roll and a chicken wrap decent prices. Nice experience.

We went here on Saturday and had such a great time! Our waitress, Mariah, was fantastic — super friendly and attentive. She recommended the tacos and the chicken Caesar, and both were absolutely amazing. The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly. We also loved the live band — they added such a fun vibe to the evening. Overall, great food, great service, and a great atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back!

Art fair crowd. Insanely busy. We had William as our server and he was so helpful with my gluten free situation, kind to my little pup and sooo sweet to my mom. Never felt neglected. He gave great recommendations accommodates accommodated us with a huge glorious smile. Sooo sweet. We had tacos and we both enjoyed them. We even got a chicken breast and they cut it up for the pooch. The almost gen manager came out to check on us several times as well. Very attentive without being oversolicitous. We will be back. Great service at a challenging time from what I could see. And the key is always good service. The music also took me back to high school without all the 80s hair spray. Great time!!! Thanks, William!!!

I had an amazing experience at Daiquiri Deck recently! The food was absolutely delicious and perfectly made. But what really made the visit unforgettable was the service. I’ll definitely be coming back soon!

Initially, we ordered the gator bites for our appetizer. After waiting around for more than 10-15 minutes, we finally asked the waitress if the gator bites were going to come out. Well, she'd forgotten to put the order in, and by the time she did, both the gator bites and our main entrees came out at the same time. We were not thrilled with this. While, the waitress did apologize, it put a damper on being able to experience the appetizer separate from the main food. The gator bites were our main reason for patronizing this restaurant. 😐 They were excellent, but we felt rushed to eat them and because we had to eat then alongside our entrees, it detracted from the experience. For our entrees, we ordered the calabacitas with fish: one with blackened grouper (husband) and one with grilled mahi (mine). They were both very flavorful, though my mahi was a bit chewy (maybe overcooked??). I would order the calabacitas again, maybe without a fish next time; they have enough protein and flavor on their own. Overall, a good experience with a couple hiccups. If you give them a try, I hope your experience is more than good and you'll be glad you did! Happy eating! 😊

Delightful restaurant with excellent food. Each appetizer was delicious, each entree was prepared with great attention to detail and spiced beautifully. Even the fresh made bread came with not just butter but oil and hummus. Haddock was the best I ever had. Service was prompt, professional and pleasant. 2nd floor restaurant has lovely views of the Venice Inlet by the jetties. Downstairs is less formal with more budget friendly options. Reservations are a must upstairs.

We have visited this area of Florida many times from the UK and thought we had tried most restaurants, however, yesterday evening we discovered this lovely restaurant, new to us. There are 2 eating areas to this establishment, a downstairs bar area and a more formal upstairs. There is a lift / elevator for those who find climbing stairs a challenge. Whe had booked to eat upstairs and, on arrival, were offered a choice of inside or outside dining. We chose to eat inside. We would suggest.making a reservation as the restaurant appeared mostly full. We were shown to our table immediately upon arrival and provided with menus and beverage lists. A comprehensive menu of appetisers, salads, entrees and specials. There was also a good selection of beers and wines which included many ales on draft. Ronda, our waitress, arrived promptly to take our order and answer any questions that we had. We ordered mushroom flatbread and a bowl of clam chowder. The portions of both dishes was generous and flavourful. We followed with entrees of filet steak with garlic mash & coleslaw and fried grouper & cocunut shrimp, with fries and coleslaw. Again, very good sized portions and nicely cooked. We accompanied the meal with a fresh orange juice and a draft Samuel Adams OctoberFest beer. Each course arrived in a timel manner. Throughout the meal, Ronda was attentive, chatty, approachable and very personable and made us feel very welcome. She acknowledged that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. We would certainly recommend this restaurant to others and will go back there again. Thank you for a lovely meal. Total bill $128, which we felt was not excessive for the quality of this meal. Parking was slightly challenging, however we managed to park in the car park which is free and immediately outside the restaurant, including disabled bays.

Our family recently celebrated our dad's 90th birthday on a Sunday evening (4:30) upstairs in the dinning room. 9 of us. The food was great and the service exceptional. Our dad is 90 but looks and acts like a much younger person. He totally enjoyed the experience. Our waiter was the best I've had in a long long time. So polite and completely on top of his game. The hat was a b-day gift from his grandson who came up from Costa Rica. (Dad would never wear a hat in a restaurant). This was the 3rd dinner we experienced at the Crows Nest and we've ALWAYS enjoyed the service and food. One negative, my wife and I got there early and wanted a drink downstairs. The greeter was so nasty, I almost canceled the reservation. What a sour puss. Cooler heads prevailed and the two bartenders were fantastic.

We haven't been here since before Ian and were looking forward to enjoying the delicious food we remembered the previous times we came. We sat in the bar area which was not very busy at the time. Our service was a bit slow. My husband got a blackend grouper sandwich. It had a slight fish smell when it came out and the flavor just wasn't there. Later that night he had really bad bloating. I had the meatloaf. It was ok. The garlic mashed and green beans were good. Overall we were not impressed with the food this time around. We will come back and try upstairs again as well since the menus are different. I am hopeful it was just a 1 time not so good experience. Once we come back and try again I can see of additional stars should be added.

We had lunch today on the porch. It was a typical hot Fl day, but we were under cover, and they had the fans going, which made it comfortable. We were seated at a table facing the inlet. Beautiful view. Our waitress was excellent and attentive. The food is always good at the Crows Nest. This is always a favorite destination when we go to Venice. It's well worth the hour drive.

Oscar Scherer State Park, spanning 1,381 acres, is a haven for nature enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers. It boasts over 20 miles of trails that wind through diverse landscapes including wetlands, hardwood hammocks, and mangrove forests. The park is renowned for its role in preserving the endangered Florida scrub jay and offers ample opportunities for bird-watching with binoculars being a must-have.
We had site 62 and it was perfect! It was quiet secluded and ample shade. This park was close to paved trails that went on for mile and close to the beaches which made for perfect sunsets. The facilities were great and clean. We had tents and everything was good. We had water, electricity, and even a place to hang our wet clothes. Overall, a 10/10 for us.

Plenty to do and experience! Camping, glamping sites, swimming, fishing, kayak rentals on site, multiple hiking trails, and a beautiful biking trail! There are easily accessible public restrooms in picnic areas and many benches in along the hiking trails. There is also a play ground. Entrance fee is $5 for cars and pets are allowed on 6ft leash! Fun for all! Ranger station is very helpful and knowledgeable. Only downside was some of yellow trail is blocked off (from the bike trail back to the Lake Osprey).

Glen at the front is friendly and knowledgeable! The facilities are clean. I've enjoyed biking. Our site is nice. It's a little tight. Getting poked by palms to get into our truck or taking the bikes out but other than that, very nice. We have a couple of bird watchers in our group and they've been very happy.

While visiting the west coast of FL, we stopped here to check it out. The ranger at the entrance building was very informative and there are a few cased displays in the building, should you stop and venture inside. Sadly for us, the nature center was closed. It looked to have displays showing FL history, wildlife, and flora, but that was just looking in from outside. :( There is a covered sitting area where ranger talks may take place. This park has a playground and shaded picnic tables, so if you have time, pack a lunch and enjoy more time there. Signs at the lake posts a swimming area and a sandy lake beach, no lifeguard. The rest of the lake offers views from a dock on the opposite side of the beach, to sit and take it in. The lake is definately stocked with fish! There is a shelled trail that goes around the lake , which we walked, with Florida plant life to enjoy along the way and benches to stop and sit near the lake. The park offers other nature trails, but we did not have the time to explore them.
Jarnette S — Google review
A place for nature lovers and if you are like us and looking for Florida scrub jays then there is a good chance that you will see them here, to find them you will need to be walking in the open so make sure that you are carrying some water, head up to the end of the park near the camping ground and you can find where they are using the map. Or you could take the lovely walk along the river. Proper washrooms are available, a small fee is charged to enter the park.

Sleeping Turtles Preserve North is a 174-acre natural area in Venice, offering unpaved trails with stunning views of the Myakka River. The name 'Sleeping Turtles' dates back to the 1800s and is derived from a landmark on the river. Despite being more rustic than other preserves, it provides an incredible opportunity to connect with nature. Visitors can enjoy wide trails suitable for all ages and even bring their dogs along.
Another Florida hike at a local and overlooked (by us) spot. We only did the river side of the trail and were really pleased with the abundance of scenery and wildlife. Its normal Florida game (gators, lovely shore birds and other small game). Easy hike, recommend sticking close to the water for best views. Take a camera!! If you stick to the mapped trail, Id say its stroller friendly, but havent done that in a while, haha. Nice day out for sure.

Went on this trail with my daughter, mom, sister, and nephew. Trail was easy, like most florida trails (I'm used to the rolling hills of Ohio and Kty). It's a natural sand trail with some tree roots, so you do have to be careful. We didn't see much in regards to wildlife. A few local birds and squirrels. There were no restrooms at the entrance. Ample parking. It's not my favorite trail, but I would come back.

This park is wonderful, plenty of sheltered places to sit and enjoy a picnic. We only did a small portion of the trail but will be back to do some more. It was really neat seeing the gators as we walked along the edge. I would highly recommend reading the board before you begin, they have so much upcoming events for the kids and a great map, so you do not get lost. We will be coming back soon to complete the trails.

There are several nature preserves in this area, all puzzle pieces that make up a vast wildlife corridor area. We preferred Sleeping Turtles over another nearby preserve. The walk along the calm river is peaceful, shaded, and beautiful. It’s a short easy hike.
Ted M — Google review
Great conservation area with a good network of trails. Lots of riverfront access and interesting biomes. There are good amenities like benches and shelters, but it can be quite busy at times. Thankfully, the parking lot is fairly small and the park is big enough to disperse everyone very well.

Nice place for a hike along the river. The river trails are not all marked. Loop trails on the north and south side of the road. The north side trails were better maintained. I didn't spot any gators but I'm sure they are in this area. Leave only footprints and take only pictures.

Woodmere Dog Park is a fantastic park for canines, featuring an abundance of trees, water dishes, and a fresh water supply. During my visits in May-June 2022, I encountered numerous amiable individuals and their furry companions. The park offers separate play areas for big and small dogs, allowing my larger canine friend to mingle with new acquaintances. While the walking space is somewhat limited, there is a fenced area with a brief pathway.
This park is great. There's tons of shade g assy areas , nicely maintained plenty of sitting benches (10)for dog parents, water fountain, rinsing area. So definitely a great find in Venice. Most importantly my dogs were happy.

Fenced in off leash dog park is decent with lots of nice dogs and water fountain. The trails just outside run alongside a canal. It's one way up and same way back, not a loop and not too exciting
Asim O — Google review
Park is large and is being maintained nicely. Owners must pick up after their dogs to keep it clean. Owners must also bring tier dogs into the appropriate park. Small dogs 20 pounds and under have a separate park. My opinion is if the small dogs are in with the larger dogs they get aggressive as they feel they need to protect themselves. Just a thought.

We absolutely love this park. Our girl had so much fun there! Its very spacious and covered with trees so lots of shade! They also have water available to all dogs, balls, frizbees as well! Woodmere Paw Park is by far our favorite!

Very large, shaded dog park. Friendly people and of the many times we have visited the majority of the dogs play well with others. It is divided by size/weight, but I've seen most of the dogs playing together regardless. If you have a large dog that chases small dogs, I'd suggest calling out to owners before entering.

Great tree covered dog park with plenty of water dishes and fresh water supply. Visited several times while traveling in May-June 2022 and met many friendly folks and doggos. They have a big and little dog separated play area. My big guy enjoyed meeting new bubs. A bit small for walking but there is a short path in the fenced area and the park is adjacent to a trail path that runs along a stream for walking and biking. Trail is crushed gravel, not much shade. There is no lock or pass required to enter the park, parking is free.

It was a pleasure to see such immaculate, well kept, restored classics. They have such a diverse assortment, something for everyone to appreciate. I loved the whimsical puppets placed throughout. I met a man named Jim who is a broker there and he was very nice and helpful. I would highly recommend everyone take time to visit, it's like stepping back in time.

Great fun walking around beautiful cars. The staff were kind, helpful and amazingly patient while we plotted the route home.

This dealer specializes in classic and collector cars. They actively are talking to prospective buyers on the phone and they are also selling live in person. Unfortunately I was able to hear the conversation a gray-haired sales man was having over the phone, The sales desk is in the showroom. Didn't sound like he was interested in taking her vehicle, nor was she interested making his price. When he hung up, he told the woman at the reception that if this lady called back tell her that he was dead, and she won't call back. But the vehicles are interesting. It seems to me the prices are market price. I don't know about any kind of negotiating room there is. I see some vehicles from the last time I was here. And many new arrivals. They are in the business of making money so they are asking the price they need to get for it

Every time we’re in Sarasota we go to «  Ideal Classic Cars ». It’s free if you register with your email and the staff won’t « bother » you unless you have questions or wanna buy one of those beautiful cars. Very nice selection, 98% American cars. We were lucky, there was a car show in their huge parking lot, again impressive cars from modern Corvettes to roadsters and Ferrari.

Venice Fishing Pier is a 700-foot-long structure extending into the Gulf of Mexico, offering fishing without the need for a license. It also provides rod and reel rentals and stunning sunset views. Adjacent to bustling basketball courts and Muscle Beach, this iconic pier is conveniently located near shops and restaurants. Visitors can enjoy watching riders at Venice Skatepark or join bodybuilders at Muscle Beach with a day pass.
Tony and I visited Venice Beach & the Venice Pier! There was free parking and it was free to walk out on the pier! There is some damage to end of pier so you can't go all the way The beach is darker and course than Siesta Key Beach! Definitely would go again but honestly not my favorite! Caught some fish. All the amenities were closed. No bait no snacks. Half the pier is closed off. At least it looked like it was being repaired. Good place to toss in a line.

Venice Fishing Pier This pier is kin of cool. It has a bait shop, Fish Cleaning Stations, Fishing Rod Holders, and Benches throughout the Pier. This Pier had some work done it after the hurricanes and its safe and easy to walk on. It’s free to walk out on it and the views are spectacular. While we were out on it, we saw a Dolphin playing in the surf. This pier is a great place for pictures, and we took plenty of then. One end of this pier starts at Sharky’s Restaurant and ends with lots of Fishing spots. You can walk from one end to the other easily. Make sure you take a walk out on this pier just for pics. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Follow me On FB For More Reviews & Fun Gulf Coast Terry

Seafood restaurant
Sharky's On the Pier is a renowned beachfront restaurant located in Venice, Florida. Since its establishment in 1987, it has been a popular dining destination offering a seafood-heavy menu and refreshing drinks from its tiki bar. Situated at the base of the Venice Fishing Pier with stunning views of the Gulf of Mexico, Sharky's provides an unforgettable dining experience. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner daily, with extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays until 11 p.m.
We had a good all around experience at Sharky’s. From the beach atmosphere to the very accommodating and friendly staff. The place was clean and has plenty of seating. I had the rice bowl with gulf shrimp and it was very tasty. The shrimp I had grilled and they were tasty. Everything was fresh. My wife had the rice bowl with blackened chicken and she said it was on point. It is right on the beach so it’s totally convenient. We dined 6/6/25.

Never Disappoints! A Venice Beach Favorite Sharky's on the Pier is hands-down my family's favorite spot whenever we're in Venice Beach. It's the perfect mix of great food, a laid-back coastal vibe, and consistently friendly service. On our most recent visit, we were lucky to have Rachel as our server--she was incredibly sweet and attentive. I was torn on which frozen drink to try, and without me even asking, Rachel and the bartenders offered me samples of all their frozen drinks, even recommending some of their personal favorite combos. It was such a thoughtful touch, and every drink was super refreshing! As for the food--our go-to appetizers are the lobster & artichoke dip and the onion rings, both always spot on. For my entrée, I never stray from the grilled salmon rice bowl. It's a solid 10/10 every single time. They also run great weekly specials on fresh lobster and other seafood, which makes it even better. The recent renovations have taken the atmosphere up a notch--it's even more enjoyable than before (and it was already great). Whether you're a local or just visiting, Sharky's never disappoints. We're always excited to come back

Came with family, food was amazing as was our server. However, we were meeting them halfway so we went to see if we can reserve the table that had enough seats for the 7 of us and they said they prefer if our entire party was here. About 10 min later our party was fully there and the table we wanted had one lady holding it for the rest of her party which isn’t fair to us because we were told we couldn’t do that. Then they seat us at a table with sun after we requested shade, and when we reminded her again and politely asked if we could sit a few tables away, the girl who was seating us had an attitude and a face and didn’t say anything and just put our menus down and walked away. Not the best service, except our server was very nice. It was almost a perfect visit for our first time here.

This place was fantastic! We had been on the beach all day and wanted a frozen drink but didn’t know what to get so they offered us a sampler (for free) to taste their frozen drinks and decide which one we liked best(yes they had alcohol) the calamari was fantastic! They have inside and outside seating, rockers to sit in and have drinks and look at the ocean. They also had live entertainment. Definitely going back!
Lynn C — Google review
We visited Sharky’s twice during our stay in Venice, and both times were fantastic! The drinks are amazing — perfectly mixed and full of flavor. On our first visit, we had the tuna nachos and they were outstanding. The second time we tried the seafood nachos loaded with shrimp and lump crab — absolutely delicious! The service both times was excellent, and the bartenders were friendly, funny, and made the experience even better. Sitting by the bar with that view of the pier and ocean just can’t be beat. This place is a must-stop when visiting Venice. Great food, great drinks, and even better vibes — and yes, I did find shark teeth on the beach afterward! 🦈🌅

“Don’t Waste Your Money on the New French Fries Steak!” I tried the new French Fries Steak, and let me tell you—it was a complete disappointment. First of all, they barely gave me any fries. I literally thought they had forgotten half my order! When I asked if they could add more, the response? “That’s the portion we’re allowed.” Seriously?! For the price they charge, this is unacceptable. If you’re expecting a satisfying meal, don’t bother. You’ll end up paying for a plate that looks half-empty and leaving hungry. Check the photo—does this look like a proper serving to you? Save your money and get something else.

Dude. A little over kill on the sauce don’t ya think? That ruined the entire burrito. People pay for food. Try not to make it suck. Doesn’t matter if it’s $1.59 or a $20 dollar order. It’s not hard to be consistent.
Drea B — Google review
Worker first forgot to give me my drink. Then gave me my drink with ice, when I asked for no ice. Then I get home and see my cheesy Gordita crunch has barely any meat, lettuce or cheese. For the prices you charge, this is outrageous food quality.
Nikki S — Google review
I drove off without paying or taking the food because the person at the drive-thru decided that it would be funny to try to mock me and then act surprised when I told him that I was no longer hungry. Maybe try to hire people that are actually professional? I mean it's Taco Bell I get that you don't have to be a rocket scientist to work there but a little professionalism goes a long way. You should probably fire the guy with pretty bad acne and a ponytail. That kid is going to continue losing you guys business. And from what I have understood you guys are already struggling enough as is just like everyone else.

It's taco bell. The food isn't horrible ... But almost 10 dollars for 1 beef chalupa supreme and a medium drink is ridiculous in my opinion.
Chrisie A — Google review
Ordered a quesolupa(sp?) and 3 crunchy tacos with no lettuce and tomato. Recieved my meal and I was missing a taco and my whole order had lettuce and tomato on it. Went back thru the window and the drive thru attendant was rude when I returned. When she closed the window she appeared to be yelling at the food prep workers. When I looked my tacos were missing a large portion of meat. Not confident my food wasn't spit on so I didn't eat it. Never returning here.
Corey H — Google review
Very patient staff, regular taco bell otherwise. EDIT: I have changed my opinion on this Taco Bell since my last visit. The quality of food is despicable, I know this is a fast food joint and it's Taco Bell and I don't have high expectations due to those two facts however, I do expect the food that I purchase to be edible. My fiance and I decided to go down to Taco Bell one evening about a week ago to try their new taco fries and what a joke. Now, I am a reasonable person and I do understand that they only cost a dollar and some change but look (at my submitted photos) at how dingy, unforfilling and skimpy the portions of fries are. They were rock hard, tasted like nothing and you only get about 10 fries if that. On top of all of that the cheese sauce was put into a makeshift container that just made an absolute mess of the bag and they weren't even in Taco Bell containers, they were placed in KFC containers! Now, moving on from the fries, I also ordered a taco that was soggy and smash beyond any sort of salvage, inedible. In addition a few burritos and a crunch wrap that was the same story, different menu item. I will not be returning to this location and cannot recommend you to do so either, if you're really in the mood for taco bell, just visit the one about 5 minutes down the street, or better yet, anywhere else. I'm sure their quality standards couldn't be worse than this ones. I am willing to change my review again if I see quality improvements but as I stated I will not be visiting this location again on my own.

It was an interesting place, a full-on sports bar, but yet it had two menus. Thai and Standard American. My wife and I both ate Thai food on this, our first visit. We both found the food very authentic and tasty. I do have to say I thought it was a little pricey, but I will still go back again. The service provided by Nancy was outstanding and friendly... a must try...

We’ve been here a couple times but so far we’ve only had Thai food here and it was good. Good selection of Thai dishes. They also have an American menu but we haven’t tried their selections yet. I ordered the seafood platter which was cooked nicely but was a little overseasoned for my taste. The mussels were delicious and the broth it was cooked in was flavorful. It came with bread on the side but we didn’t know what it was for nor we were told it was included. The owners seem friendly. Service depends on who is working.

11-24-24. I took my parents to this bar/restaurant for their first time. We needed to see the Chiefs play against the Panthers. French Onion soup, Philly Cheese Steak with frys, Reuben with frys. The French fries were HORRIBLE. Limp and soggy. I had to ask Anthony our waiter for ketchup + mustard, twice while my food got cold. I was not real happy with our experience.
William C — Google review
I loved the bar atmosphere. The 3 other people in our group said that their meals were delicious. My seafood platter was flavorless. I ordered it grilled and I'd swear it was only steamed. The scallops and shrimp were very bland. The Basa fish had a hint of flavor but that's it. The service was just OK. Our appetizers came less than 5 minutes before our meal.

This rustic gem offers a fun and laid-back atmosphere where visitors can savor seafood-focused Southern cuisine while enjoying live music and cold beers. The menu boasts mouthwatering dishes such as melt-in-your-mouth pulled pork sandwiches, smoked salmon tacos, and flavorful BBQ options.
The catfish dinner was delicious same with the coleslaw. I had to try the spicy whiskey bbq, which made a great for a dip for the homemade chips. Wonderful place to relax. River boat tour, live music, draft beers. Gator bites, smoke chicken wings, sweet potatoes, and tacos were delicious. We loved the river brew draft beer. The band's music was awesome too. We couldn't take the tour because tickets were all sold out even for a couple of days ahead, so my suggestion is to plan your tour in advance before going. That's on my checklist because we'll definitely visit again.

This place is closing at the end of the month, but it's worth the stop if you haven't been. They currently have bbq which was so good. Service could have been a whole lot better. Some friendly faces but not overly nice. Gator bites were pricey for the small portion, still good. Brisket was delish. And so was the collard greens! They had live music, the bbq food was great, and it's an old Florida vibe. Go before they close!

Such a cool place, hope they don’t destroy the „old Florida charm“ with the planned renovation. Food was delicious, generous portions. Service was also great.

What a peaceful, yet vibing and busy place to get a meal, take in Florida’s beautiful weather and listen some music… all at the same time. I gave this place 3 stars, but wanted to give 5, however the potato salad on my platter was inedible ( not cooked and covered in dressing) and I had to throw it out. My two meats bbq which consisted of pulled chicken and pork were smoky and delicious, with a side of potato chips and the perfect ice tea. It’s kinda weird though, you order on one side, then you get a pager to get the food, which you wave up in the air when it starts to buzz so the server knows where you’re sitting, then you have to take your food and go to another side of the building to get your bbq sauce and forks and napkins… that part was annoying. Also trash can are to the side of the building, so you have to walk a little to throw your stuff away. Your bill consists of a gratuity. I thought it was pricey… my bill was $29…. I could have gotten better food elsewhere…. But I guess I was paying for the view and music. Then, as usual I couldn’t eat all of my food, so had to join the line to get a to-go box…. Parking is horrible, I guess you park where you want. It’s a little walk to the restaurant. I will go back for the view and music, not the food!

Ponce De Leon Park, located in Punta Gorda Isles, is a 19-acre recreational park offering various amenities such as a beach, playground, mangrove boardwalk, boat launch, and wildlife center. The park provides opportunities for outdoor activities like walking, bird watching, photography, environmental education, and wildlife observation. Visitors can enjoy sensory experiences including boat watching at the beach and exploring the mangrove boardwalks to encounter diverse wildlife.
Great spot to watch the sunset! Beachy area to hang out, and also little small areas to hunt for shells and play in the water. There are also areas specific for fishing and a boat launch. It also has a nice playground for the smaller kids and an animal rescue place. Didn't visit the animal rescue yet, but it looked interesting.

Wow! It was hard to find the beach but Google helped. Only gave it a 4 star bc the boardwalk is still closed from the damage caused by the twin hurricanes that hurt Punta Gorda. Otherwise great place with beach, boat ramp, shelling, and fishing.
Jody E — Google review
My recent visit to Ponce De Leon Park was a truly enjoyable experience, earning a solid 5-star rating. This park offers a wonderful combination of natural beauty and various recreational activities, making it a great destination for different interests. One of the standout features is the wildlife conservation preserve located within the park. It's inspiring to see the dedication to preservation, especially considering the challenges they've faced. Recent hurricanes caused significant damage, with a devastating 9-foot storm surge that decimated their main buildings. Currently operating out of trailers for their office and gift shop, the staff, including a very knowledgeable individual named Barb, are doing commendable work. I was particularly captivated by Bella, a beautiful owl residing at the preserve. While their current facilities primarily house aviary animals, they have plans to include more land mammals as their new conservation building is developed with the help of visitor donations. It's heartwarming to know that visiting and donating directly supports these crucial conservation efforts. Beyond the conservation area, the park boasts a lovely beach with a unique blend of fine, white powder sand mixed with numerous broken seashells. It creates an interesting texture and is perfect for a relaxing stroll. For families, there's a children's park, and for those who enjoy being on the water, the park also provides opportunities for fishing and a convenient boat launch to access the Gulf. Public restrooms are also available within the park. Ponce De Leon Park is a testament to nature's beauty and human resilience. Despite recent challenges, it continues to offer a relaxing and engaging experience for all. Highly recommended!

It's a clean park with a fishing pier and a boat ramp. There is a playground for kinds that seems like it's in good condition. It has a bird aviary which closes at 4pm every day. They have restrooms, picnic areas, and historical plaques. It's seems like a great place to watch the sunset over the bay.

Jelks Preserve is a nature reserve that offers hiking trails and picnic spots for visitors to enjoy. The preserve is home to various habitats for turtles, boars, and armadillos. There are multiple options available when it comes to choosing a path to hike depending on the visitor's preference. Most of the trails are well-marked and wide open, with some offshoots leading towards the Myakka River.
Had a wonderful time here. Where we walk there was a few places that were wet but there was places to skirt around it, or walk over it they're boards and bridges and ways to get around the water. What's nice about this part is that you can choose to do a very large loop, but there are so many cut throughs or shortcuts whatever you want to call it that you can make the hike as long or is short as you want without having to do any backtracking. There's also three places along the river where the trail cuts out to a side trail so you can see the river. We also saw all different types of wildflowers there were tons of them in all different colors.

To be honest, I hate this trail. The problem is that much of it is deep sand that I think many people, especially older visitors will have a hard time walking long distances in. The redeeming value is that there are three side excursions (past markers 2, 4, and 6) that take you to the banks of the Myakka River. In Florida, you want to see the water when you go hiking. Two of these (2 & 6) have picnic tables where you can rest and watch the river and the other (4) has a bench. The one with the best view is by far 6, but it is the farthest hike in. Many people will just walk in and see 2 and then leave, which is fine. On the east side of the loop, some crossings have water issues but they all had wooden beams to help and I had no issues getting through in mid-March. The main loop is 3.3 miles. I did the whole thing and the three side excursions and it took about 1.5 hours in total. There were no paper maps when I visited so be sure to take a good photo of the trail map. And much of the trail is exposed to the sun so definitely wear a good hat and bring water. Parking is free.

Great place to visit for a great moderate walk. We wound up walking about 5 miles total. There's some wet and muddy spots but there's some planks and bridges to cross those areas. Nice step off paths to look at the water. We saw some birds, a rabbit, and even a small hog. Some of the walkways are not pretty due to hog activity. Just be careful watching how and where you walk. Wear sensible shoes and bring water. The map is quite good to use and the markers are very useful. GPS may not take you directly to the park turn in so be watchful of that.

Very nice hiking trails, beautiful scenery. Multiple paths to choose from, one of which is by a little stream of water. There's also picnic tables towards the entrance, and a few benches randomly thorought the trails which was nice. This preserve was a little more crowded then others in the area. They do not have restrooms available, signs say nearest restroom is at Snook Haven. Dogs are allowed as long as they are leashed, gates close at sunset. Overall, very enjoyable.
Celeste B — Google review
Very much enjoyed this preserve. Lots of shade available. It was pretty wet and muddy in places and the hogs had rooted up a lot of the trail near the “tower.” Some places there were bridges or logs to cross the water and others were a little muddier. Some of the paths were a little unclear but that said, it was enjoyable.

Jelks Preserve is a great place for a hike. There are multiple options and paths to take depending on how far/long you would like to walk. Most of the trails are wide open and clearly marked. There are a few off-shoots that will take you to the Myakka River. The views there are underwhelming. I wish the area was more open to get a better look at the river. Other than that, it was a positive experience for us.

Went hiking there today with my wife. We walked 2 miles and observed armadillos, tortoises, wild pigs and in the past we have seen deer there. It was dry there today. During the raining season it can be pretty wet. But today was perfect!

Blue Heron Park is a delightful destination for dog lovers, offering separate areas for both large and small dogs. This well-maintained park features clean, manicured spaces where your furry friends can frolic freely. While the small dog area has limited shade and only one covered seating spot, it still provides a welcoming environment. The park also boasts gravel trails perfect for leisurely walks with your pup, although it's advisable to bring your own water bowl as the provided ones may not be up to par.
A hidden gem with lots of activity and nice people. Very clean. All grass with a large and small area (<30 lbs).
Mark L — Google review
Clean manicured park for large or small dogs. A couple of kiddie pools would be a nice addition to help cool down the dogs. Enjoyed the trails outside the fenced-in areas. There are no restrooms & no place close by to use. For this reason, I rated 4 stars.
Lisa B — Google review
This is the first dog park I’ve been too that has a lot of small dogs too! If you want your dog to be able to visit so early in the morning or right before dusk. There isn’t too much shade on the small side and pretty much none on the big side. There is one spot to sit in the small Dog side that is covered. There is a station for water but bring your own bowl because those ones are gross if you ask me. There are also some gravel trails to walk.

Great park. Its a dog park with great walking trails. We go walk the trails a few times a week. The 2 dog areas are very clean and well kept. Its a great place. A must see.

The park itself is nice with lots of nice trails but until construction is done avoid this place. River road is bumper to bumper and the gravel entrance is a nightmare. I'll try it again in the future, but not while construction is ongoing.
Ronald S — Google review
With all the construction on River Rd.. it's a little hard to find the entrance , but the park is worth the effort. It is very well maintained, and the trails are fun for you and your dog.

Mediocre dog park. Yes it is roomy but it's like a large back yard. It's a BORING venue. Recently, the county receded the park. Unfortunately they didn't do anything to alleviate the horrible drainage.

Nice dog park with few area of shade and trails around the park. The entire map of he trails were not able to be seen at the shadow box sign due to the sign posted on the outer glass "stay home if you are ill".

Park
Deer Prairie Creek Preserve South, located near North Port, covers almost 6,500 acres and includes a tributary of the Myakka River. The preserve offers over 60 miles of natural surface trails for activities like kayaking, biking, and trail walking. It's recommended to download offline maps due to spotty reception. Visitors can spot baby gators while kayaking but should be cautious not to agitate or feed them.
Beautiful, well maintained park with hiking trails and canoeing/kayaking access.
Dave M — Google review
This is a great place to launch a kayak. Parking and portage are very close and accessible. There are a lot of trails here but I wouldn't say it's a great place to hike. The trails are well maintained but wide open. Not much shade along the way. Definitely bring some water. It's a better place for mountain biking. Spotted one alligator just below the dam.
Wayne L — Google review
So far we only hiked the Alphabet trail which was almost 7 miles out and back. We enjoyed the tranquility. There were quite a few people biking on this trail. At lake we saw wild boar looking for food in water. We also saw scrubjays. We will return. It is huge preserve to explore.
Tatiana D — Google review
It is a very nice place with great hiking trails, picnic tables, portable toilet, kayak launch, and a big parking lot. The trail leads to a nice lake, we didn't get to go any further than the lake but there was still a long way to go. If you need a little break and quiet nature walk this is the place to go. Dog friendly. Open sunrise to sunset.
Kaja S — Google review
Great place for kayaking, biking and trail walking to enjoy the beautiful outdoors! Reception can sometimes be spotty, so I highly recommend downloading Offline Maps on Deer Prairie Creek Preserve to avoid any issues. I also recommend bookmarking your spots as you go so if you do get lost, you can find your way out much easier. I did spot tiny baby gators, but if you do Kayak always be alert and careful and not to agitate them, nor feed them.

Great place for hiking. Miles and miles of trails. Nice to walk so far out and really feel quite alone out there. Easily did 8 miles and not another person in site. Gator, deer, pigs, gopher turtles...lots of wildlife. Beautiful spot!
11macman11 — Google review
I came to bike. Only 1 good option for non adventurous biker. However, it was beautiful. Armadillo’s, deer tracks, lots of birds. Noone here. Kayak options fantastic. Walking trails mowed nicely. Beautiful picnic area near dam.
Linda W — Google review
As you drive in from the entrance road there is a kayak launch for the Myakka River on your left and a very large free parking lot on the right. Straight ahead is a kayak launch for Deer Prairie Creek and some nice benches and covered picnic tables to enjoy the view. I did see a couple of very large gators swimming together in here so be careful. For the trails, be sure to grab a paper map at the sign near the parking lot (thankfully they had many) because while the trails are marked, it’s not as prominent as others and it can be a little confusing back there. There are two main trails: the Short Loop Trail (1.9 m) and Long Loop Trail (3.5 m). I did the long loop and it took me about 1 hour 15 min. The trail felt mostly like a utility road (and sometimes like a grassy utility highway) but there was one stretch in the northwest section that was more primitive and beautiful. I did this walk myself and have to admit it might not have been the best idea as I did feel nervous at moments. Though I didn’t see any wildlife.

This place is very hard to find, there is also no shade, so when you go, just be ready to be in the Sun or rain. The playground itself does not have a lot of things for kids to do. Although the design is very aesthetic and nice. It is a very nice place to hang out. Just be aware that there is not a lot for kids to do. But if you do take a bike, or even a scooter, the plan of a space, and they have a nice sidewalk for them to ride along. We found this funny seats and they were a lot of fun and they also have lots of options to eat there in restaurants and even Littlw foot trucks.

This place is super neat! Being pretty new, Downtown Wellen Park includes a huge lake that you can walk around, and is next to a stadium and stores such as Publix. It features a stage that I’ve heard people performed outdoor concerts on, as well as a marvelous ice cream place. It’s a nice walk around with fancy restaurants and a playground, surrounded by apartments. Love coming here with my friends and family :)

McDonald's, a renowned and enduring fast-food franchise recognized for its delectable hamburgers and crispy fries, has established a reputation that spans generations. Regularly frequented by many, the restaurant boasts an inviting and expansive dining area, illuminated with ample lighting to ensure a comfortable atmosphere. The courteous and amiable staff members at McDonald's have consistently proven themselves to be among the most considerate and helpful in recent memory.
Amazing 🥲 experience I had at this McDonald’s I order a $5 meal and had a respectful young man take my order Steven handed me my order with respect and care. The food was fresh and the service was amazing thank you to Steven and his crew. Keep up the awesome hard work and dedication that you guys give. Oh and also the coke was fresh. Best McDonald’s I’ve ever been to. Oh, and another thing, please don’t listen to all these other negative comments. People just complain too much in their life.

The owner or manager with his billboard and restaurant should stop working. You dont acknowledge customers and this is strike 3!! Waiting 20 min for a to go order with NO communication and I try to speak up and ask if I should have used drive thru and COMPLETELY IGNORED.. Stop trying to save money and get WORKERS in there. You're obviously not a worker...and your customer service could use a course. If this is how you treat customers, I feel very bad for the employees being a former worker of this franchise, it sucks for them.

10 minutes at the window and this is what I got. Pretty damn disappointed in y'all right now. I never have high expectations of fast food, I know that it's garbage food and I occasionally get it when I'm in a pinch. However, a mentally disabled fire hydrant could slap together a better sandwich. Where in your order makers brain did it seem ok to serve this. I don't care how tired you are or how long your day has been. I work my butt off in the Florida sun for 8-10 hours a day and I provide quality service the whole time regardless. If the sum of your job is to place ingredients in a semi-orderly fashion on a piece of bread and set it in a small cardboard box and THIS is the best you can muster, I'm afraid you are probably going to be doing this or something similar for the rest of your life. I will apologize for everything I just said IF the person assembling it is legally blind, but something tells me even a legally blind person is more than capable of managing to GET A SLICE OF CHEESE ON A PATTY OF SUSPECT FISH /EndRant

Shari and I had lunch today at Irma's Taco & Tequila Bar in North Port FL. Its located in the Wellen Park area. Quite easy to locate. We both loved the vibes of the place! We meant to eat here earlier but our day locations got in the way but today it just fell into place. The area is quite open and airy, very clean fresh feel to the restaurant. Our server was very nice and accommodating. I ordered Ice Water w Lemon & Lime and so did Shari but she also ordered a Berry-Rita mixed drink with lovely plumb blackberries. I added a Margaritaville Strawberry Diaquori water enhancement package to my water Zero Sugar 5 Calories. Shari ordered the Carne Asada Taco and A Ground Beef Taco adding Chorizo w a side of Queso Cheese Dip. I ordered the Carne Asada Taco also and a Grilled Mahi but with the toppings of the Al Pastor toppings. They let me switch the proteins around which was very nice! I also ordered chips and salsa for $4 because unfortunately they are not gratuitous like most Mexican cuisine restaurants ! The food was amazing! We both chose the corn tortillas over the flour option. But here you are given the lettuce option as well and they do offer vegan tacos too! They offer a taco called Ophelia that is Black Bean based w some yummy toppings but I knew 2 tacos was more than plenty for me. I was able to eat about 3/4 of my Mahi Taco and picked at some Carne Asada Protein on the 2nd one but I was full. I did eat a few chips because the salsa was thick and AMAZING!! Shari said her Queso was quite good too...I'm not a queso fan! Definitely would go back. Highly recommend ! 5 stars from me!

We came here by accident. I’m very glad we did. This place was awesome. Great menu reasonably priced with a nice atmosphere. Good background music and everything wasn’t too loud. The food was top-notch. I can’t wait to try more so I will definitely be coming here again.

My family and I visit Irma’s often and it’s always a highlight! The tacos are incredible—especially the Al Pastor, which is our absolute favorite. The location is perfect, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the service is consistently excellent. Beyond the amazing food, Irma’s stands out for the kindness and love they show their customers and community. It’s a place where everyone feels welcome, and that matters just as much as the great tacos. Highly recommend to anyone looking for delicious food and a business that truly cares about people. We’ll keep coming back!

It's been several months since we last ate here, so we were surprised to see a couple changes on two favorite items. First, they've dropped the chicken taquitos altogether. Very disappointed with that change. So we ordered our go to taco salad instead, and discovered the leafy green mixed salad component has been replaced with shredded iceberg lettuce, changing the texture and nutrition experience completely. Not that one review can change much, but I'm hoping this location changes course to put quality ahead of cost savings in the future. We'll check back soon.

I've been going to this place for years because of their amazing craft cocktails. The strawberry dobel margarita was my all time favorite. They've taken out all their best margaritas and drinks, limiting the drink menu to one page vs 3 or so. Pretty disappointing. Was the best margarita in town. Food has always been mid, the great craft cocktails were why I visited. Not sure why they got rid of SO MANY drinks and left so little drink options. You're a craft tequila bar. Guess that's the end of Irma's being my favorite little bar 😭 service is always great, though

British Open Pub is a charming neighborhood bar that serves up classic British pub fare and hosts live music in a traditional setting. On weekends, they offer a delightful brunch featuring delectable dishes like Sweet Waffle with whipped cream and fresh berries, as well as Savory Waffle with succulent chicken and zesty Siracha syrup. The menu includes Scottish eggs, fried fish, and prime rib, although some patrons wish for an improvement in the French fries.
Fantastic service and dinner tonight, July 5th! The staff here is top-notch – friendly, fast, and very attentive. Made for a perfect dining experience. I ordered the fish and chips; my wife ordered the prime rib. The fish and chips is absolutely delicious with generous portions too! The fish was perfectly flaky and encased in a golden, crispy batter. And the chips were perfectly golden brown. This is exactly what fish and chips should be – simple, satisfying, and incredibly tasty. Outstanding prime rib! Perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and bursting with flavor. A must-try!" Highly recommend British Open Pub!

Tried this place for the first time tonight on the recommendation of our son. We loved it!! The vibe is cozy and comforting. We came in a weeknight spur of the moment and were surprised to find it really busy! Our server was Emily and she was delightful! Food came quickly and was hot and good. Not gourmet but satisfying and a lot of it! Their happy hour house wine was only $5 so we’ll be back for sure! PS - the little train going around the ceiling was a fun addition. If you have kids they’ll love it.

Great time at the British Open pub! Food was very solid, service was great (thanks, Emily!), and the Guinness was cold and poured perfectly (thanks, Erica!). We had the potatoes pancakes for an app, and the Prime Rib Bomber and Chicken & Mushroom Pie for dinner, all of which i highly recommend. The atmosphere/vibe is also great. They have a for-sure repeat customer!

I've been here twice. First time I ate here I threw up. Food was greasy, overly salty and somehow still lacking in the flavor department. I came here a second time against my better judgment because my grandmother wanted to eat here. I threw up again. She couldn't finish her food as it was far too salty. This place is disgusting.

You would not expect to find this tranquil park tucked in the corner of routes 41 and 776. Quite the site to see for birdlovers and anyone looking for a peaceful retreat in nature. Would highly recommend stopping by.

This place is good for people interested in bird watching. There were birds of different colors like herons, anhingas etc. Looks like there may be alligators in the water, as there was a warning sign.
Jayarangan R — Google review
This is one of my favorite places to watch birds. The island in the middle of the pond is the nesting area for several types of costal birds. There is a resident gator that patrols the pond and several bat houses where hundreds of bats can be seen shortly after sunset. Very family friendly, good for school groups, and amateur and professional photographers. Very limited parking, one handicap accessible spot, and 1 porta potty. There is a nice picnic shelter with tables. This is behind the Venice Administrative Building accessible by 41 and 776. It is surrounded by multiple gas stations, fast food restaurants, and close to multiple beaches. It is a popular spot for locals and can get quite crowded. Please be patient and considerate of those around you. Talk in low voices, move slowly, make sure you don't step in front of someone taking a picture, do not litter, and pick up and dispose of any litter you do see. Thank you, and enjoy your experience.

We visited from the Miami area, and stopped because we like birds. Bring binoculars! Or a DSLR. Or anything that will help you see across the water better. We saw birds that are familiar to us, and were excited to see a few that we had not seen. We were very excited. And then once we realized how many nests of babies were in there (we saw glossy ibis, anhinga, and black crowned heron babies), it really made this quick stop totally worth our time. There were some locals there who said this wasn't even a great day and they usually see more. But we were thrilled. There is a large covered pavilion with tables, but there is no restroom. That was our limiting factor for sure, or we might've stayed longer. I'd give it at least an hour if you're a bird enthusiast.
GR W — Google review
An excellent place to go especially this time of year when the birds have nests on the Rookery. And if you're there at dusk you will get to see the bats come out of their bat houses. Nothing quite like it. There is parking there and a shelter if you want to take a lunch. There is a porta potty on premises as well.

Beachcombing for shells & sharks’ teeth is a popular activity on this rugged stretch of coastline.
Closed due to hurricane damage. Even had a sheriff out there blocking access. Bathrooms closed. Showers closed. No water. Road washed away. Debris all over and the walkways are just annihilated by the hurricanes. Sad. Careful with kids wear shoes/foot protection. Hurricane took all the teeth. Zero shark teeth anywhere :).

Beautiful black sand beach with tons of shells, and if you're lucky, shark teeth! They aren't just laying around, you'll want to bring a bucket or strainer to sift through the shells & sand.

Always love it here it's not cool the road is still closed but still able to get to beaches and find teeth

This is my favorite beach n florida! I am an actual born and raised Floridian and still enjoy this spot. But if you have children (or a weak stomach) beware of walking too far south down the beach. The naked old and weird will come out of the tree lines. Some are harmless other than the obvious, but there are a few mouthy ones who think they are entitled to be there naked and you shouldn't be there. I was cursed out with my husband for stopping to find shark teeth in a spot that they were hiding when we arrived then descended down on us 100% naked. The upside of this beach are the amazing amount of fossils you will find. Especially if you know what to look for. Check it out for sure. Just be mindful of how far south you stray.

I’ve heard in Heaven the streets are paved with Gold-at this beach the streets are paved with sharks teeth! You literally shower off standing on shark teeth. The beaches are pristine and the sand is like powdered sugar. Bring a kitchen strainer and prepare for a day of exploration of finding your own treasures. You won’t be disappointed. Check out my Podcast for more hard hitting truth.

A pristine beach located off the beaten path with plenty of spots to claim a peaceful day. A long walk if your planning to come without a boat, There is a ferry that takes people back and fourth from the South Venice yacht club. Found lots of shark teeth and the sand was blazing hot. Make sure you have some adequate sun protection.

I went on Sunday morning and there were over 2 dozen people sifting through the beach looking for sharks teeth. They were spread out the whole length of the beach (over 2 miles ). The sand is fine and is not rocky except for shells in various amounts throughout. It isn't too busy and has plenty of space so you don't have to be on top of other people. Great place to take the kids or to relax without a lot of hassle around you. Free parking is great.
Charles T — Google review
One of the lesser known beaches of the area, but if you know of shark teeth then you definitely know of Caspersen! This beach is so fun because it’s so unique- there are lots of rocks right along the shore like and a huge walkway across the sand, making for some great views! There are lots of shells to be found, not even just shark teeth but a large array of other conchs, scallops and really good ones! If you want to find teeth, though, I suggest you bring either a rake or some kind of straining/ scooping element because otherwise they are super difficult to find. You also need to find the right spot, so if you’re not finding any, keep on moving and don’t give up! Caspersen also has some bathrooms and rinse stations, but beware of parking because it can get tough- so great there EARLY or get there late- the in between may have you driving around quite a bit!

Everyone working is so friendly! We took an Art class & made stone coasters with Brenda & Kathy. All the vignettes are vintage or local artists & just so unique! It’s a must see.

Always has cute stuff, but it was pretty hot in the summer because they don't have AC. Only being one open one day a week was also kind of crazy. I guess the vendors are required to be there during that one day a week that it's opened. Which kind of makes you feel like you're being watched while you shop? It's odd.

Amazing place to find the most unique and diverse pieces in arts and crafts, antiques, jewelry, and so much more! They also offer classes on different art sectors. The vendors/artists are the friendliest and nicest people you ever find. It's a must-see!

Our visit today was a treat for all senses. The artwork so different, so special. These artists are visionaries, and if you visit, you will most likely come home with a treasure or at the very least, some wonderful decorating ideas. The Mercato is an eclectic artist cooperative tucked away near the Venice Airport . This hidden gem has something for everyone. Marie the proprietor welcomed us with a smile and a hearty “ good morning”! The staff is wonderful and give off a great vibe. Go to the Venice Mercato and thank me later!

Maxine Barritt Park is a beautiful, peaceful and family-friendly park with scenic views of the Gulf of Mexico. It has a long sidewalk path for walking and jogging, as well as an outdoor event space. There are also covered pavilions for family mealtimes, a large pavilion for events, bathrooms and a clean, attractive walk path around a small lake.
Beautiful shoreline park with limited beach access. Great place to go for a walk. Nice paved parking lot with plenty of parking. Lots of birds in this area. Paved perimeter loop trail around the pond. Gazebo with picnic areas. Bathrooms and showers. Nice view of the Venice fishing pier.

This was a great place to stretch our legs with an infant! There is lots of boardwalk (and shade) that allows us to enjoy the outdoors even when it’s sunny- baby had a good time too! There are a few benches/picnic tables that if you wanted to bring a lunch, it would be a great place to enjoy. The water is a short distance away. We also walked along the pier, which was a short walk away.

I think what this is best for is it’s a great place to walk a dog. There is also a fenced in dog run area. There are some shelters (one that’s quite large) but not a lot to see from any of them so I’d probably defer to another local place that has a beach view from a shelter if that’s what you are looking for. There are a handful of enclosed patio areas that lookout over the beach that are nice, and one (to the right, in the vicinity of the large shelter) has beach access via a ramp. If you are using this as a spot to park and go to the beach or pier, then I guess it’s ok. Otherwise I’d probably look for a better spot if you are planning to spend more time using facilities like tables and bbq for a picnic.

Lovely place for a walk especially at sunset. Lots of benches and some short boardwalks to watch the sunset from. Cement walkway around lake. Restrooms and picnic areas. Grab a snack from the food truck at Sharky’s and enjoy a meal with a view.

This is a beautiful park with trees and foliage and a lovely pond with several species of birds. You can see the gulf from many different spots along the 2/3 mile sidewalk path and can walk down to the beach. It is not crowded and people are spread out to assure distancing during the pandemic. It is perfect for a picnic, as well.

Monty Andrews Arboretum @ West Blalock Park is a charming 4.75-acre public park in Venice, featuring over 100 trees and palms with descriptive plaques. The well-laid-out park offers a wonderful stroll among various plant species, including beautiful flowers and metal art. During Christmas time, the park transforms into a magical place with uniquely decorated trees and special themes.
This place was awesome!! I drove from Orlando while on vacation, and then sat in the car for an hour for it to stop raining, but worth all of that!! The selection of plants was amazing, and well cared for. This is somewhere I will definitely come back to visit! The labels they have are very informative, but there are still tons of plants that are unlabeled.

Nestled in the heart of downtown Venice Beach, Trattoria Da Mino is a charming Italian eatery that invites you to indulge in a delightful culinary experience. This cozy spot specializes in an array of mouthwatering dishes, including pizzas, pastas, and paninis, all served with a touch of Mediterranean flair. The inviting outdoor seating allows guests to enjoy their meals al fresco while soaking up the vibrant atmosphere.
Great little Italian restaurant in Venice. The margarita pizza is the best. I would not recommend the four cheese pizza, not the best flavor. The bread they bring is excellent, the service is impeccable. They brought water and bread to our table within a minute of sitting down. Love that. All the food came out super fast and fresh. I had the Bolognese pasta, not a big fan of this. Too many vegetables in the sauce, not truly authentic to what I get when I’m in Italy. The soup and salad was just average, the truffle pasta was made with oil, not a sauce, it was just OK.
Mark M — Google review
Amazing little Italian restaurant right in the middle of downtown Venice. Host was a cool dude (NH transplant) that gave us some interesting facts about the area (Oprah lived nearby lol 😳). Back to Trattoria, service was awesome, food even better. Huge Margherita pizza (they also have an authentic version with home made mozzarella and tomatoes) but we stuck with the regular one (shredded mozzarella, tomato sauce, basil and half pepperoni) and it was really good! Didn’t regret not paying extra for the original Margherita version but will definitely try that one next time -we’ll be back! NB: our table also had the pasta Bolognese. Super light pasta with the best bolognese sauce I’ve had in a good while. Edit: wanted to add why the bolognese sauce was one of the best I’ve had. Their base tomato sauce with the soffritto base (chopped and sautéed celery, carrots, onions) really kept it authentic and really enhances the flavor in any homemade tomato sauce. Everyone should try it when making their homemade tomato sauce.

We had lunch here, (3 people + 2 glasses of wine) and the atmosphere was fantastic. The music was just right—great selection and perfect volume. The food was phenomenal; honestly, I think it might be the best pizza I’ve ever had in my life. Our server, Colder, was very polite, and you can tell the owner is hands-on—he personally checked in to make sure everything was perfect. I truly recommend businesses like this, where you can relax, enjoy yourself, and feel like you’re on a week-long vacation. Thank you—I’ll definitely be back soon!

Trattoria Da Mino at 335 West Venice Avenue, Venice Fl. We arrived at 2:45 on Saturday the 20th of September 2025. Cee was our server, he greeted us at the door and said we could sit anywhere. He was very attentive and took great care of us. Our water and the Stella beer I ordered arrived promptly. Cee brought out free bread and tomatoes which not bad at all. Our pizzas were brought out at 3:23 The wife had a medium Biongustaio pizza which had ham, mushrooms, Alfredo sauce and Parmesan and mozzarella cheese on it. She can’t eat red sauce. So she’s ate a lot of white sauce pizza and she said this pie was one of the best she’s ever had. It had plenty of flavor and she said she would drive here ( about an hour) again for this pizza. Cee our server was great. I had a medium basic supreme with no mushrooms and it tasted really good , the crust on the edge of the pie was cooked great with some burns and bubbles. The toppings all tasted really fresh. The marinara had a great flavor. The cheese had a great pull when removing t it from the pan. The only thing I would say anything negative would be about the dough and that it was very thin and the oils from all the toppings and cheese soaked through and made the dough very soft. I like my dough a little sturdier than this dough. But thin crust pizza is my favorite pies. On that note though the dough was very favorable. Again Cee was great. Now the real question is would I go back again? My wife says yes so I guess we will.

This was by far the best food and the best, cozy and friendly experience here in Venice. You can really tell that this place is being run by an "Italiano vero", Mino. The first time we got here just half an hour before closing on a Sunday night. What I thought would be a decent rejection of service because we arrived so late, turned into a perfect (and quick) dinner. Owen greeted us with a smile and immediately pulled a few chairs for us. Quickly after that, a guy in his late 60s came in and my mother-in-law says to me: "most likely that's the owner. He looks italian and you should have a word with him, as you speak italian". As I didn't want to intrude, I said pass for the moment. But just a few minutes later, Mino just stopped by our table to say Hi and introduce himself. Just by doing that and I realized my mother-in-law was right. He is an italiano vero. We quickly exchanged a few words in italian. That moment we found out that he comes in every morning to prepare the food each day. He uses most of the ingredients from his farm and boy you can feel the difference. The best Carbonara, lasagna, pizza Capriciosa, homemade Tiramisu and Kimbo espresso. If you've ever been to Italy, Corsica or Sardenia, you should know what to look for in Italian cuisine. Well, at least in what Venice is concerned, you should look no further. I actually told my mother-in-law as soon as we got inside that by the looks of it, the food in this location should be very good and I was right. I'd you're in Venice or even just driving by, your making a big mistake by not stopping to try this. Mino, it was a real pleasure meeting you! You remind me of my friend that passed away in 2025, Pietro Colaiacomo.
Laurentiu M — Google review
Great tasting Italian cuisine, with friendly service in a casual setting. Pizza crust was semi-thin, with a light crispness, topped with a perfect amount of flavorful sauce and cheese. The Parmigianna di Melanzane, thin layers of Florida eggplant baked with homemade mozzarella, marinara and basil, was a delicious vegetarian option. Italian style art and deco created the ambiance of a true trattoria. Will most definitely be back.

Trattoria da Mino advertised on their board two pizza slices for $5! DEAL - WOW and Yummy! Another nearby restaurant advertises biggest piece for $5. (Not even close on taste or service). Nope, not anymore. Hot, fresh, Italian made and served within minutes. Also, as it is before 4:30, we sat inside with air, had fresh bread with oil/tomatoes and a diet coke. Server was incredible and answered our questions prior to seating us. Really a pleasant experience and more than fair price for what you get. This beats all the l9cal pizza places. Give it a try, definitely we'll deserved.

The lunch menu features affordable options like Sigara Borek and Mezze Platter, perfect for sharing with friends.
This was by far the best restaurant meal we had on our vacation in the area. I had the mixed grill, I don't even know where Is start on this other than to say each component was perfect. The lamb chops were cooked perfectly, seasoned nicely and were likely the most tender I've ever had. My son had the filet mignon gyro, he was really pleased and my wife had a discussion which was halibut gyro and again, cooked perfectly. We were especially well taken care of by our Scandinavian server, super friendly! Will definitely be back if we end up in the area again in the future!

Bodrum is a hidden gem in a humble little cut-out spot just off downtown historic Venice. The service is some of the best I’ve had in Florida, warm, welcoming, and attentive. This was our first time here. It was incredibly hot and for some reason we were subjected to loud Jamaican rap the entire time we were there. It’s a tiny place, so there’s no way to escape it. The food was very good. And my son loved his well decorated pancake. The food is the part that matters most. It was good. But, the prices were different on our bill than they were on the menu. Our waitress said that’s because her boss was in the process of changing the prices on the menus. And check out our receipt in the last photo. What the hell? The entire experience was OK, but my wife says we will not be returning.

Just had the most AMAZING lunch at the Suncoast Cafe at the Venice airport. My husband had the Cuban sandwich and he said it was the BEST outside of Tampa/Ybor City (which come to find out is from La Segunda located in Ybor City) he has tasted. He grew up in Tampa and ate them often so he knows his way around a Cuban. This restaurant is a hidden gem located within the Venice airport. We’ve lived here for 3 years and only recently discovered it. The service is also amazing. The servers are kind, accommodating, and very friendly! Serving breakfast and lunch, the food is fantastic. 8-8-25. I came across this hidden gem on my morning walk. I remember now, seeing for years a person holding a sign on the Circus Bridge promoting this restaurant. I sat at the counter on one of the 7 or so bar stools. They also have 8 or so tables. Brooke was my fine waitress. She recommended the Reuben Sandwich or Cuban Sandwich. I chose the fabulous Reuben plus onion rings. Tony the owner/chef was present cooking + chatting. I felt at home in this small restaurant where you can look out onto the airport. Cross posted on Yelp and significantly edited due to restrictions here on Google.) Sunday, August 17, 2025 - three for breakfast for my birthday after church and before the beach! My wife has been coming here for years with her mom many years ago and recently with friends. This was my first visit. They were NOT part of my 31 breakfast restaurants roundup I did between 2021 and 2023 because they do not seem to mention or do Eggs Benedict. They do have a poached egg item on the menu. (spoiler alert: they would have been 32nd) NOT part of the rating, but as a comment. Even in shorts near the windows where we were it had to be mid to upper 80s F. Service was spectacular and all the servers seems gregarious and friendly and a real asset to the place. They kept mentioning the chef and he and the other cooks were out and about bringing entree and checking on a few folks. It seemed a lot of locals and regulars in the off season. (we live in Venice as well year round) My wife ordered what she had before which was the St. Lucian Breakfast Quesadilla Scrambled eggs, cheese, sautéed peppers, tomato, onions and roasted pork inside a grilled tortilla with salsa and sour cream. she got the plantains as well. The quesadillas were pretty wet and she noted little overly cooked compared to the last times she was there. Maybe the packed house and the quantity of patrons had things a little chaotic in the kitchen? The plantains were very oily and wet as well. 6/10 My daughter went with the Biplane. Two eggs and two pancakes with your choice of bacon, ham, or sausage. w/chocolate chips for $1 extra. She ordered the eggs over easy.... and they came properly cooked1 from a yoke perspective. Not low and slow, but FAST fried. The whites were a little crunchy around the edges and on the surface. 4/10 Her pancakes were a little 'powdery' grainy as if maybe not well mixed or maybe not mixed correctly? not horrible. 6/10 She is a sausage fan but likes to see what is coming out before she orders the patties or the links as this items varies significantly from restaurant to restaurant. So she went with the bacon. there were about 3.5 strips. Absolutely annihilated & over cooked - almost bacon dust. and yet the entire plate had about 4 tablespoons of bacon grease flowing around and the bacon was glistening. HAD to be a fast nuke job on a plate. My daughter was paper towel blotting the oil/grease butter off the eggs and bacon plate as I was taking the pictures 0/10 inedible... her side order of toast had been pre-melted with a patty of butter on each piece and wet and soggy. not touched. 0/10 I got (the birthday boy? (smile)) the Flight Attendant's Omelet which is Fresh mushrooms, onions, tomato, green peppers, and spinach traditionally served with refried beans and salsa. I also asked for NO CHEESE on my omelet? I opted for an English muffin for my bread. Like my daughter's eggs and my wife's quesadilla, my omelet was one could almost imagine "seared" cooked on a hot plate or griddle. Honestly when I first smelled and ate it, the omelet smelled "fishy" or as if it was cooked in the same plate or griddle as the crab cakes I saw on the menu???? the butter or oil at a very high heat? If you dig up the picture here the omelet is dark brown and yet the inside was very wet and just warm? the spinach and veggies possibly stewed and cooked and just added in there but not hot. the egg was not enjoyable and actually dry. Just a very rushed and too quickly cooked egg dish? 4/10 The refried beans were also dry as either a little old or possibly refried - refried beans and just reheated again in the microwave or something. 4/10 The coup de grâce for my meal was the "English muffin" ? Like my daughters toast, it was buttered all over and inside? and it was COLD!!! 0/10 This was not a good visit, I am sad to report.

I discovered Suncoast Café thanks to a YouTube video created by my realtor (Heydy and husband) — and WOW, what an unforgettable find. As a former flight attendant, I walked in and immediately felt at home! Nestled right alongside the Venice Airport runway, this cozy café has all the charm of a small-town treasure with a front-row seat to the skies. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the warm energy from the chef, happy patrons, friendly staff, and the scent of fresh, delicious food. The atmosphere is a perfect blend of relaxed and lively — with fantastic music playing, huge windows showcasing small planes taking off, and the kind of down-to-earth hospitality that instantly makes you feel at home. The Eggs Benedict were absolutely phenomenal — The coffee? Smooth, bold, and better than most big-name coffee shops. Whether you're a local, or just passing through, -- Suncoast Café is a must-visit. It’s not just a place to eat — it’s an experience. I’m already planning my return.

A Hidden Gem in Venice! ☀️🍳✈️ Suncoast Cafe is hands-down one of the best breakfast and lunch spots around! Tucked away at the airport, it’s a unique and cozy place with fantastic food and a fun view of small planes coming and going. The menu is full of fresh, flavorful options — from perfectly cooked omelets and fluffy pancakes to delicious seafood dishes and sandwiches. Everything tastes homemade and made with love. The staff are incredibly warm and welcoming, making you feel like part of the family the second you walk in. Whether you’re stopping in for a hearty breakfast, a quick lunch, or just want to enjoy the laid-back atmosphere with great service, Suncoast Cafe is worth the visit every single time. An absolute must-try in Venice!

Still delish! Still a clean dining experience- great food - even though their prices continue to climb… it’s good food snd great customer service 🩵

There are 2 things which have remained consistent with this location over the past half a decade and it’s that their prices continue to be on the rise and they count every grain of rice they serve in your bowl or plate. I was craving rice and caved in. My bowl of noodles and egg fried rice was $8.30… no meats. The one thing that really appealed to me was their fruit based sweet teas. Its amazing, refreshing, not too sweet, bursting with flavor. Their fruit combo is great, I had their mango and guava mix, they also have peach, pomegranate, pineapple, lychee etc.

I had Jose & Geraldine and they were kind, quick and caring! So sweet, both of them. Interior is clean and the food is fresh!

The supergreens were completely raw. Not cooked at all. I broke a tooth trying to eat them. How hard is it to steam veggies. The fried rice was old and dried out. And the chcken was obviously reheated from the night before. Dont waste your money here.

I had a great experience at this Panda Express thanks to Jose. He was funny, super cool, and really made my visit memorable. It’s not often that someone’s personality makes you want to come back to a restaurant, but Jose definitely did. Big shoutout to him for the great customer service!”

we arrived at panda express in Venice at 10:10 and the doors were locked. It says they’re open until 1030 and no one would even come to the door and tell us what was going on. I called and called and called so finally somebody answered the phone and said they closed the lobby that we had to go through the drive-through. I told them that our truck was too big and we would not fit through the drive-through. He says well then we cannot serve you. It’s really too bad we frequent that restaurant. The employee was extremely rude. Maybe they need to look for a little bit better help!

Order to drive through for two meals and some cream cheese rangoons. They got one of our meals wrong and we went back around the line was very long at the drive-thru so went inside and they were very apologetic and gave us the proper meal. We order the Honey Walnut shrimp with the noodles and it was delicious. Cream cheese rangoons were also very very yummy. So aside from the mistake which was fixed and apologize for All is good
