Shopping mall
Shopping
Valley Hills Mall is a conventional indoor shopping center that features an assortment of department stores, specialty shops, and casual dining options. The mall has been around for several decades and was especially popular during the 90s and early 2000s. However, recent visits have revealed a decline in the number of occupied stores and a less bustling food court compared to its heyday. Despite this, Valley Hills still maintains a better condition than other malls that have suffered even more drastically in recent times.
Beautiful mall with so many shops! Carousel at the entrance and food court! Stairs -escalators and elevators to help you get around if needed. Lots of kiosks selling apparel and jewelry. Plenty of parking. Near hotels and gasoline. Safe and well lit. Belks Dillards Buckle Victoria Secret Bath & Body and more! Enjoy a mall while you can!

I wish I could leave 0 stars. I live locally and dont visit this mall much , after this I won't go back. I took my 4 year old granddaughter to clairs we took a stroll around the mall and came to the small play area downstairs in front of Dillard's. It is so RUN DOWN the carpet is so stained , the play equipment is broken, peeling and what looks like 40 years of dust on it. Keep this up Valley Hills Mall and you are working on putting yourself out of business.
Samantha H — Google review
It was an amazing trip! The beautiful architecture was very nostalgic, and the mall offered a great selection of stores. It was truly a marvel with two floors, so there was plenty to look at. I'd definitely go back again. They also have a beautiful carousel at the front entrance that greets you upon entering. I was grinning from ear to ear the whole time I was there. Unfortunately, living two hours away means it's not somewhere I can visit as often as I'd love to, but it was definitely a great experience all around, and I'd always love to go back if I had the chance."
Alex H — Google review
For people who are looking for walking info— I have found between 8:45–9am the doors are usually open! This is a great mall for getting your steps in, especially in this heat….I do wish it was a little cleaner. There are lots of dust bunnies on the floors around the edges of the walls but other than that a nice place to visit!
Taylor F — Google review
Quick visit for one of the stores in the Mall. SAD to see the days of the Mall's are coming to an end. Place was like a ghost town. Remember as a kid in the early 80s and throughout the water fountains and the crowd on weekend nights and the smell of the roasted peanuts and the arcade room and K&K toys was must visit with the hickory 80's punk rock gang hanging out around the downstairs food court. Life seem more simple in them days... The Valley Hills Mall just not the same as it use to be.
James A — Google review
Wonderful chair massage with Anna at Relax Spot today. Very thorough. Very relaxing. Very professional and outstanding value. I would highly recommend this store.
Barry C — Google review
This mall was great years ago - when it first opened! Yep. I'm that old. Now it is loud, bathrooms could use more attention, esp the air vents above - in the ceiling. We sometimes stop in for Chick-fil-A - as the other location on 70 is usually packed! Since Sears left, the exterior seems like a waste land in that area - TALL weeds - and grass. If not maintained, things start sliding and then it's the point of no return. Teens and pre-teens should be with an ADULT.
Carolyn's D — Google review
It was kind of disappointing because all the stories was not open the only thing I liked was the food court

Nestled near downtown, Hickory Motor Speedway is a must-visit for any racing enthusiast. Established in 1951, this iconic short track boasts a seating capacity of over 13,000 and offers overnight RV parking for those looking to immerse themselves in the thrilling atmosphere. Often hailed as the "Birthplace of NASCAR Stars," it has witnessed the rise of many legendary drivers. The speedway not only hosts exciting races but also serves as a living museum of NASCAR history, showcasing its rich heritage.
What an awesome venue and event that Foothills Drift Club put together. I am thankful the community got together and made this happen professionally, safely and enjoyable. We all can't wait for the next event.

I always came with my grandmother on Saturday nights years ago and had so much fun. Visited Hickory Motor Speedway this weekend for the first time in many years and it was as exciting and entertaining as always. Way to go Tim Dale!

I had so much fun watching the races! Definitely worth the price of admission. And you can bring in your own food and drinks if you want. Just make sure the cooler is no bigger than 14". They do sell food there as well. Bring the whole family and have a blast! The kiddos will love it for sure.

The stands need to be replaced! They are literally falling apart - but you will have a great time at the race!

The staff was nice and friendly for the event I attended and it was secured with local Sherriff presence. It started out clean but as the night went on not so much. They need more garbage cans. They had plenty of vendors to buy memorabilia and lots of stalls in the bathroom. However the door is so close to the toilet, it's only comfortable for a little person. I'm 5'8" and I didn't have room to squat - I had to get creative.

Love coming here for Tour of Distruction! I've been going for years! Awesome family fun experiences! Can't wait to come back!

Just left the monster truck wars. This was the worst experience I have ever had. And I’m so upset my kids missed out on what would have been a blast. First, the track, the concrete seat, the bleachers, ALL cracked up and dumpy. Had to change my baby’s diaper in the grass under the bleachers because there was no where to change him. Then the seating was so bad, and people walking around or standing directly in front of us , that we truly couldn’t see a single thing. We left. It was absolutely insane. We paid this much to have people constantly walking or standing in front of us. THEN, while walking to the car, EVERYONE was parked in there like the old game “traffic jam” no one could get out . Not to mention we had to pay for parking . Everyone was livid and taking video of the craziness. I will NEVER be back . What a waste of time and money.

Took my 18 months old niece here to play and the splash pad was great. Lots of room to run around and have fun. Nice playground as well. Park is in immaculate condition with no trash on the ground.

This is the best park to take kids of all ages. The splash pad is also good for all ages.

We had a long drive from Raleigh to Asheville and we decided to stop here with our kids and dog as a halfway stop. It was a great park! Very clean, quiet, lots of variety, clean bathrooms, path to walk the dog, and felt very safe! We had a great time!
Monica P — Google review
We came here to watch our niece play t ball. It’s a hoot. A very nice park.
Kendra Y — Google review
The playground itself is very nice. The issue we had was absolutely none of it in the shade. Everything my 9 yr old tried to do was too hot to play with. We went in the spring time when the outside temp was in the mid to high 70s. I couldn't imagine trying to go in the summer time and trying to play there. My advice would be going very early in the year. If you choose to go during summer I would go very early morning or late evening
Ben P — Google review
We brought the granddaughter to play after we celebrated her 9th birthday. It was our first visit. It is a beautiful sentiment and memorial to the young lady that lost her life so horrifically. There were so many families there with their young children, enjoying all the different playground equipment, which also included a tennis court and picnic area. We will definitely be back, and next time, take advantage of the water park located in the adjacent fenced area, which also includes multiple baseball fields.

One of the best parks I have been to in a while. I am a Winston-Salem native but used to live in Hickory before kids and never knew about Kiwanis 🏞️ Park. This park has something for everyone. Amazing playgrounds and playsets including a giant slide down a hill. They have a huge sandbox with a working excavator toy, a play boat, climbing structures, music features, and handicap accessible play sets. The park itself is also ♿ handicap accessible with parking and seating. There is adjoining ⚾ ball fields, amphitheater, 🎾 tennis courts, public restrooms and 🧺 picnic shelters, and an amazing splash pad for the hot summer months.

Absolutely delicious food! So happy we stopped here for our lunch! My kids were happy with their sandwiches. Our mozzarella appetizer was perfect, the flavors were so good in the sauce! I got the black bean burger (order it crispy!!!) with fried okra and it did not disappoint one bit! It's something I'll be craving now! Our waitress, Nicole, was phenomenal. She was very attentive, kind and helpful in giving additional recommendations based on her personal opinions as well as locals/regulars. Thank you to Nicole for making our experience so great!

Food is good. Chicken was quite moist. Love brunch on the weekends. Like the prices. Wine and beer selection is excellent. Nose level at 2pm was tolerable. Service was decent. What I didn’t like was the dirt under the fingernails of one of the servers. And the bathrooms are disgusting, which makes me wonder about the kitchen. I’ll try someplace else the next time I’m in Hickory.

This place is a cute one! I had the most amazing salad here, loved the mimosa as well! Good little kids menu and reasonable prices. Great beer selection and nice bar area. Very attentive to detail when it came to the food. :) very pleased!

It was a beautiful spring day at lunch time so it was very busy but we only had to wait about 20 minutes. All the servers and employees where very nice. The atmosphere was amazing. I really enjoyed the gift shop at the front of the restaurant and the view from our table was beautiful. The food was so fresh and delicious. I would highly recommend this place if you find yourself in Hickory NC!
Jessica B — Google review
I really wanted to give this place at three, but I didn’t because in fairness the Hickory carnival was going on right next-door and I can see the restaurant being the way it was because of the extra customers. I met the manager. His name was William. I only stopped in ate because I was in the area. Starting with the discounts unbelievably they offer none “0” onto the food. I really enjoyed the food. The pizza was good. They had a real crispy crust. I ordered it like ham, sausage and olives. Do not get the olives. They are extra extra salty I also got the wings. They were pretty good. I could see myself eating at disestablishment again. I really like the old feel of the place. They sell lots of special cheeses, wines and other specialty items. I think you should give him a try for the old time feel. they offer what looks like a fully stocked bar. They have inside and outside eating and I think I might’ve saw a fireplace. Our waitress was named Mia. Thank you for your service.

What a horrible disaster!!! This place is in the old Hickory train depot wonderful beautiful building great atmosphere you would think it would be a great place to celebrate someone’s birthday like we did, but it was not. It was a horrible experience. An hour and a half later the birthday girl still had not received her food. Out of 6 adults and 6 children 6 of the burgers were nearly raw and all were requested well done. Server was horrible and had a terrible attitude. The manager came to our table to personally apologize and said he completely agreed with us, our food was nearly raw. He was cool!! we are not diners with an attitude. We are very laid-back and easy to get along with me my wife my daughter have all been servers in restaurants in our younger days and know how it can go, but I would highly recommend against coming here extremely bad experience. This is the third time I have been here and it has never been a great experience food wise the atmosphere and company was great. I only agreed to attend because it was a friend‘s birthday dinner. When the birthday girl finally got her food an hour and a half later the order was wrong as well three strikes you’re out. These photos are of our supposed to be well done burgers. On a semi positive/ negative sidenote the manager told my daughter for each of us to get a free dessert on the way out they have an extremely nice dessert bar as you’re exiting the building however, when we got up there, the lady accused us of lying about him, giving us each a free dessert for our horrible experience!!

What a wonderful genuine place. We have driven up from Spartanburg both times to grab cheese you can only get there. We had dinner at the bar and what a fun time! The bartender, I failed to get her name but incredible eye makeup, was amazing and we sat, just like last time, with a bunch of regulars. This place makes me want to move to Hickory so I can become a regular too. These salads were beyond delicious and they kept growing in the bowl. Haha We can't wait to come back. Thank you for a super fun Tuesday day off! 😘
Erika J — Google review
I never want to leave bad reviews. But I kind of considered myself a regular. I order their Streak Cobb salad maybe once a week, I have also brought them a lot of business by showing around my lunch. However, it’s always a hit and miss, items would be missing, or the steak portion is off. Today I was craving this salad, after not even having breakfast. All the portions were wrong. I got barely any steak, or onions, or blue cheese, even the greens. It feels like they ran out of ingredients and gave me what was left, not to mention this is a $18 salad. I would be taking a pause from ordering here. Two pictures of a great looking salad and the portion I got today.

Taste Full Beans is a unique spot in downtown Hickory that combines the charm of a coffeehouse with the creativity of an art gallery. Established in 2001, this community cafe has been serving up specialty coffees, teas, and healthy seasonal dishes for over two decades. The cozy ambiance and organic, locally-sourced menu make it a popular choice for weekend brunch.
First time here. Very impressed!! It was busy but well worth the wait. The atmosphere is very inviting and pleasant. The service was excellent. We came for breakfast and it was very good. Healthy! I can’t wait to come try out lucnch. I had the oatmeal and it was loaded with deliciousness! The breakfast burrito was great as well. The place has a family vibe abd is very inviting. I review a lot of places and I have to say this is a hidden gem. I don’t know why it’s taken me this long to come here. I highly recommend this place. Can’t wait to come back. Good job Taste Full Beans!💪🏻🔥🔥

I honestly don’t think there’s a weekend that goes by without me stopping at Taste Full Beans in Hickory. The coffee is amazing, the fresh-baked scones are delicious, and they’ve got awesome healthy food options offered all day long. The service is always friendly and welcoming, which makes it even better. Such a cozy, inviting place that always hits the spot! They also have dog-friendly outdoor seating.

I only had coffee, but there were plenty of other selections. I had the Edgar Allan Poe frap with the unique combination of lemon and dark chocolate. Flavor was mild, but enjoyable, with hints of both. The blending was perfectly smooth and creamy. The atmosphere was out of this world. Local authors' books were out for patrons to enjoy while partaking.

One of the rare findings in Hickory, NC. People were so friendly and the service was great. Food and food collection is well selected, curated, and prepared. Don’t miss the coffee. Will be in regular pit stop when driving from CLT to Boone, NC.
Rakesh S — Google review
Food was good and fresh. You can order at a kiosk as you enter. The coffee drinks were good. (If you get just regular coffee you just get a cup and fill up by the canisters but specialty they will call you or a wait staff will bring it to you.) Staff is nice but it is kind of a half self serve environment, you pick your table, and clean your stuff off. They did bring our food and specialty drinks and were very nice. The environment is eclectic. Lots of paintings, some books as you enter. Various seating options, bar style, regular tables, view of the street or inside of building.

If you are traveling on I-40 near Hickory you MUST STOP BY! We found this gem on accident and we are so glad we did. I don’t think I’ve EVER gotten such a good americano. We got breakfast burritos and bowls, very fresh ingredients and perfect portion size. They have a full menu, tons of coffee bean options, local art for sale, and a free book library! We stopped on a Sunday AM and there was also live music. We will add this to our routine when we head to and from the mountains! Most of the tables were small but you can move things around- there was one larger group.

Great and healthy food for reasonable prices. I bet this is your only healthy food option if you are driving i-40, and does not disappoint. The spot is nicely decorated and organized so that it doesn't feel crowded in spite of the smaller eating area.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here tonight. It was only my second time to visit and a first for my husband. I enjoyed the appetizer that was on special tonight — Bang Bang Shrimp. The portion was a good size, the shrimp were large and the taste was delicious. I also liked my entree which was blackened chicken over smashed potatoes with crispy fried Brussels sprouts. We will definitely look forward to coming back!

Headed to Notions in Hickory? You totally should! Their brunch is seriously 🔥. Those liver mush sliders? Don't knock 'em 'til you try 'em! 😋 And the bananas foster French toast? Sweet heaven! 🍌🍞 The avocado toast is on point too. 🥑 Plus, their Bloody Marys pack a punch 🍹 and who can say no to bottomless mimosas? 🥂 The vibe is chill, and they've got good seating. 👍 Oh, and it is ♿ handicap accessible with its 🅿️ parking, seating and 🚻 restrooms, which is awesome! 🙌

The food we had was very good. Cajun pasta and chicken and the filet mignon. The inside area is a bit crowded and with all the conversations a bit noisy, it has a nice bar and eclectic feel. They have great outdoor seating if the weather is good and are dog friendly outside.

I wish I could remember our servers name. He was great! Atmosphere is nice and cozy. It was a Friday night and a full house which was nice to see! Seems to be a popular spot for locals. Food was also really good. You've got to get the Tempura Cauliflower. It's delicious!

It’s been 2 days and I’m still thinking about the blackened chicken salad, so I thought I needed to give kudos to Notions. I honestly cannot say if I liked the tender chicken, amazing tobacco onions, blue cheese crumbles, or the fresh greens the best. We sat outside because the evening weather was gorgeous and our server was super sweet and courteous. I’m dreaming of going back.
Tiffany H — Google review
We have dined here twice and both meals were very good! A little room for improvement, but definitely worth future visits!! Their outdoor dining is very pleasant on a mild evening. Last night I had the filet with potatoes and brussel sprouts, same thing I had on my previous visit and it is a 10 out of 10! Flavor, portion and cost! Excellent!! My wife had the sliders for her meal and the first time we had them they were very juicy and flavorful, last night they were dried out and ended up as part of our dogs meal for the evening. Also, their fries are just frozen crinkle fries, would have figured something a little more from a nicer restaurant. We shared a cobb salad to start with blue cheese dressing and it was good, but not great. Needed something else for texture and lacked flavor. Our service was good and we thought our server did a great job!! The food runner from The kitchen had the personality of sandpaper... maybe she wasn't having a good evening? But in a customer facing role I think you need to be a little happier and not rude. They forgot my wifes fries and when she mentioned this to the food runner she argued that it hadn't been rung up instead of saying something like let me check on that. Then our server walked up and she kind of argued with him in front of us. That probably should've been a back of restaurant discussion and not arguing with the customer. All that being said! We like it here and WILL return!! We may skip the cobb and sliders, but the filet is excellent!! And good ambience!! To those about to dine, I salute you!!

This location inside Valley Hills Mall is the worst location of any Chic-Filet I’ve ever been too. I ordered the smokehouse BBQ bacon grilled sandwich. Regular combo with diet lemonade. Totaled $14.22!!! Thats freakin outrageous! Upcharged for a diet lemonade from a soda that the lady was about to fix me without even asking what I wanted! Yes I had to stop her and she went back to the register to upcharge me! Employees with their pants hanging off their behinds and just plain rude and disrespectful! Not like any other Chic filet I’ve set foot in. Very hectic ordering situation going on as well! Management needs to be looked into here. Also my sandwich looked like it had been slopped together very carelessly. Won’t be back here ever again!

I had the worst expriance ever to day at the mall my food was late. The manager came out. I asked him why my food was late as every body ordered food after us, got their food. The manager asked for the receipt and he looked at me like I'm laying the casher told him that I was right and she took my order so he replied I will take care off it. However he didn't I went back and as soon as he sees me he asked me again for my receipt, I provided the receipt. He took went to the back for a other 5 minute and then he came out and start put my order together. I love chicken Fila and I'm really disappointed.

The food is always freshly made and prepared as you ordered it. The ones taking the orders are always in such a friendly mood. The ones who deliver your order to your car, they are always smiling and happy. It makes you feel good to just stop by there and pick up food. The place was clean and ready for you to sit down. It's just a great place to go through the drive thru or go inside and eat.

This chick fil a is crazy fast and they never get an order wrong. We usually do the curbside pickup. Last time we parked and hit I’m here and started a timer. They were at our car in 15 seconds! I don’t know how they can be so quick but it was impressive!

Steak house
This vibrant steakhouse serves American cuisine with a Southwestern twist, all amidst Texas-themed decorations. Despite the bustling atmosphere, there was a short wait at 3:30 pm, just half an hour after their opening time of 3:00 pm. The food itself was excellent, and the waitress provided exceptional service with a friendly demeanor. However, some individuals may not appreciate the seasoning used on the steaks, as it is different from what they had experienced at other Texas Roadhouse locations.
Maleah was our waitress and we loved her. She was hustling around the whole time we were there, and took care of her customers well. She checked in frequently and was so sweet. Please take great care of Maleah!!

Never thought that it would be so busy for lunch but it definitely was. Ordered a 16oz sirloin, but the waitress only heard 6, so that's what I got. Was only charged for the 6oz, so that's fine. Fried pickles weren't breaded well or fried much, but the server had another order brought that was far better. Steak was cooked properly.

So first mistake was ordering to go maybe, I ordered my steak medium well which means slight pink in the middle. This steak has no pink, it also had no flavor and parts of it were burnt and dry. My son has the burger kids meal and both of his burgers were burnt as well. Just because an order is to go doesn’t mean you shouldn’t care how the food is cooked.

I hate to do it but we have always loved this place … apparently it was a bad day or a bad cook we got there just after the opened not full but steady ..I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with fries medium little pink .. what I got look like it fell on the floor and they picked it back up but burnt on the ends .. when she asked me how it looked I took the top off and said what do you think how can you send something out that looks that bad ..she said we can send it back well I’m not doing that cause I know what happens when you piss the cook off .. so I ate my fries and tried to eat the burger I think I ate less than half .. nobody offered to at least take some off the bill or anything.. first of all it should have never been brought out that way.. nobody cares anymore .. at the end I told the waitress I would pay for the fries and the drink but not the burger.. so it was taken off the bill ..well now after looking at all your other reviews I can see you really don’t care about your customers coming back… what happened to you guys I believe you need to find some better cooks .. all the pictures of your food posted on reviews looks horrible..🤮🤮it’s ok we can find another restaurant eventually you guys will be out of business..

I must say, texas Roadhouse for 20 plus years was always a favorite place to eat for the past year or longer, especially the last year it has been just not consistent anymore, especially the hickory location. I ordered pork chops today something I have ordered many many times today I got raw pork chops and was told when I asked for pork to be cooked properly that they cook all pork medium which is going to get someone sick I know that is not normal practices considering I always ordered pork chops and never been asked how I would like my pork cooked because unless you ask for pork raw it should be cooked well done or at least done salmonella is real and will get someone very sick if you decide to cook all pork like this as you see and as they told me basically i was wrong that I wanted it cooked properly that it was cooked properly look at photos would you eat this? Not to mention, i got my salads 5 minutes after my food came out. Do better! Lost my business long horn is wat better.

Our waitress was not the best but I can say she was better than the last Let’s just start with the tea-warm and not that sweet. Seems to be a hard thing for these big corps to get their tea right Might I suggest you use 1 plastic pitcher of sugar to one urn of tea ok…just to simplify it for you The rolls-the were hot and white-no color to them at all-offer your table regular butter with the rolls not just the cinnamon spread. I had to wait ten minutes for the waitress to bring it back to our table The blooming onion was undercooked as well-the batter was off as well You couldn’t pick a petal without it crumbling off and your stuck with a slick almost raw onion to dip into their dry m, chalky tasting dip-had to order their ranch to dip it in so yet another ten minute wait for our waitress to bring it back to the table By this time our teas are empty and moths are dry. So I ordered old faithful chopped steak aka roadkill the meat was good it’s just the onions-slimy for some reason and not thoroughly caramelized so one slid down my throat and I felt like a core chewing their cut trying to get it back up-not a lovely sight After that the onions were scraped off my protein and left on the plate with the undercooked not seasoned steak fries The bread thing about my meal was your Mac-n-cheese I was impressed and thigh out was good I couldn’t finish by this time my stomachs rolling with nausea

I was amazed at how bust they were at the time of day. There was a 15 minute wait at 3:30 pm. They open at 3:00. The food was really good. My waitress was super helpful and friendly. I will simply say this. Personally i do not like the seasoning they put on there steaks. I had only eaten at a Texas Road House once before and had forgotten this detail. I Personally will definitely return, just the next time I'll order my steak without the seasoning.

Tonight wasn't a good night for us. Family of 5 came to celebrate my son's birthday. His steak he ordered wasn't correct. Sent it back and they cooked another one. Manager brought the second steak out but it wasn't right either. He didn't eat it. The waitress offered to get another but my son refused.Manager said he took it off the bill. Wanted to have wait staff celebrate his birthday but never happened. Manager couldn't get away from our table fast enough. So one star given. The waitress was very nice and apologized. She was nicer than the manager.

Wow. Attention to detail is alive and well here. What a spectacular experience. Amazing service, food that is out of this world, and beautiful ambiance!! I will rave about this place for years. Do not pass up the opportunity to visit here!! Tiffany, the bartender/server was the vest in the business! She was amazing! Again, do not miss an opportunity to dine here!

This is such a beautiful restaurant. We ordered just off of the tapas menu and were not disappointed! We recommend the pheasant and veil sausage. The street corn was also very good.

This place was good, food descriptions were vague. One of our dishes had something very spicy in it and the menu didn’t specify that nor did our server. The Quality of food was amazing, great cocktails and the place is beautiful. Plenty of parking. Next time we’ll be asking detailed questions of everything we want.

Naan: the naan was good but the dips did not have enough spices, they were bland! Falafel: It was delicious!! Again not too spicy. These dishes were not very authentic but I guess they were made as per their target consumers! The ambience was really beautiful!!

We have eaten at Boca for years. We were there in December and had excellent food including filet, Brussels, piquillos, and the whipped ricotta. We returned Saturday and ordered two filets medium rare. They are supposed to be 8 oz. Mine was very small and thin (definitely not 8 oz) and was overcooked likely because of how it was cut. My husband's was more the traditional shape but was inedible due to being mostly fat. It was a very strange and offputting shiny, slimy texture. He had to request a new one, which meant he ate well after us. There also was zero urgency in getting him the new one. This is not an inexpensive meal. The attention to detail and execution were a big letdown after having such a great meal last month. December gets 5⭐️; January gets 3⭐️. I'll gladly edit again if consistency returns because we want Boca to succeed.

All those details, from the entrance, service, food, until the restrooms impressed us in a positive way. Thank you Boca, for your good taste in decoration, staff and food.

I celebrated my 40th birthday at Boca. We had a private room in the back that was beautiful. The service was outstanding!! We loved the blueberry mules. I also enjoyed the no vacation no problem and and espresso martini with my birthday cake. Both were delicious. The filet was beyond perfect. We will definitely be back. Thanks so much for everything!!

Awesome vibe, terrific service and scrumptious food make this a great place to visit. Lots of delicious food items to choose from. It has plenty of seating and a very efficient and friendly staff. Just a great place to eat or to hang out in. They offer my favorite a portabella mushrooms sandwich that keeps me coming back again and again. The pizza, appetizers etc are yummy too!

Olde Hickory Tap Room was recommended by the locals, so we decided to try it. The food was very good and the service was wonderful. We stopped it for lunch and the portions were big. Took our servers recommendations and they did not disappoint. They do their own blue cheese and warm it before adding it to the burger, the best I've ever had. Will try more dishes next time I'm in Hickory.

@oldehickorytaproom Olde Hickory Tap Room for a relaxed Saturday evening dinner. Very enjoyable. Food: Classic chicken tenders - their specialty. These massive tenders are breasts cut into tender and fried to perfection. Amazing crust and tender. It’s a big portion so be prepared to take some home! I would say, best tenders I have ever had. We got the potato salad as a side which was creamy, mustardy, and filled with pickles. Loved it. Service: Wait staff were busy but very friendly. We did have a 30 minute wait but used it ti enjoy the beautiful downtown of Hickory, N.C. However, we did spend 2 hours here and only got chicken tenders… Ambiance: Lowkey bar vibe but still good for families. Location: Nestled in downtown Hickory. Beautiful. Plenty of parking. Nice walk. Rating: Food - 9.1/10 Overall - 8.3/10 #food #foodreview #chicken #tenders #taproom #ncfoodfinds

My server was amazing, as well as the drinks. However, this was probably one of the worst steaks I’ve ever eaten. Absolutely ZERO seasoning, the grill marks are the only reason I can say it wasn’t cooked in a microwave. The sides were not great either. No seasoning on the broccoli and the “Irish root roast” was soft and definitely boiled. I’ll be back, but won’t be eating there again

Awesome food! Husband got his favorite (The Blueburger) and I got the special (Cornbread chicken pot pie). We also got a side of ghost chili (spicy and warm with ground meat and light beans). The chicken pot pie has a sweetness to it that adds to the flavor. So creamy and yummy! Husband loves the blue cheese burger and ranch with his pub chips.

The food and service is always good! Very consistent! Deb the bartender is the best!! Love the veggie pizza, fish and chips, Reuben, and great salads! Never had a bad meal here! FYI - they will make anything into a wrap. My only wish is they had the Buffalo fried oysters like the sister restaurant!

Your Bar is amazing, the atmosphere is like no other, but your bartender on this night, even though she made great cocktails was distracted, didn't check on us at all or pay attention. We had to get her attention constantly. Just because you make great drinks, doesn't mean you should be a bartender. It's about connection, and she lacked it very much. She seems sweet but that doesn't get the job done in an impressionable way.

Carolina Movie Theater, established in 1934, offers a unique movie experience with its historic charm and discounted second-run films. The renovated space features rocking seats and beautiful hardwood floors, providing a comfortable setting for over 700 guests. The theater also boasts cutting-edge sound projectors for an immersive viewing experience. Before the show, visitors can indulge in a variety of delicious concessions at the on-site stand.
Small theater but it is really nice. I went there with my friend and we enjoyed it. The popcorn is very good but the sprite tastes a little watered down. Other than that it is really pretty. But when you walk in to the screen area it was so dark I couldn't see anything so you can decide if that's good or not. In my opinion I like to be able to see where I'm walking 🙃
LPS L — Google review
I usually enjoy coming to this theater, but today was a disappointing experience. I had my feet resting lightly on the seat in front of me (with no one sitting there), and a staff member came in and aggressively yelled at me to put them down instead of just asking politely. I immediately apologized and said my bad, to which he said the chairs were 300$ and told another couple in our row that those kids (fully grown women) feet were up, smacking the area my feet were loud enough to make me jump.I understand rules are rules—but there’s a way to speak to people with respect. The way it was handled felt unnecessary and there’s a big difference between enforcing rules and being disrespectful. It’s a lovey theater and I love supporting it rather than AMC but this was embarrassing for everyone involved

Pros =Nice seating/large chairs/clean. Cons= limited bathroom (1)on main floor you needed to stand in the concession line just to get tickets only. Should be a separate line for tickets only.

The Carolina Theater is a great locally-owned vintage-style silver screen experience. The theater has a welcoming small-town atmosphere and tends to cater to family-oriented entertainment. Prices are more than reasonable, and it doesn't hurt that they have the best popcorn anywhere around!

The Carolina Theater has come a long way—and it shows. With its newly upgraded leather seating and a spacious, comfortable auditorium, it delivers a top-notch moviegoing experience without the high-end prices. One of the best parts? Hatch Sandwich Bar is a charming lunch spot located in Hickory, NC that opened its doors in 2012. This cozy eatery offers a variety of unique sandwiches, including vegetarian options, all served in a colorful counter-serve nook. What sets Hatch apart is their commitment to sustainability by sourcing many ingredients locally and offering daily specials announced on their website and Facebook page.
Solid selection with some unique menu items. I had the pastrami cheesesteak and it was fantastic. Friendly staff and plenty of places to sit down. Would definitely recommend if you're in the Hickory area.

Here's a short positive review for Hatch sandwich shop: Absolutely loved my experience at Hatch in downtown Hickory! This local spot is a real gem. I had the Rueben and it was easily one of the best I've ever had – perfectly grilled and packed with flavor. My colleague's salad looked incredible too. The outdoor seating area is a fantastic bonus, and the location in charming downtown Hickory just adds to the whole wonderful vibe. Highly recommend stopping by Hatch for a delicious meal!
Jamie D — Google review
We were driving through Hickory and just googled a lunch spot. Hatch came up with great reviews so we decided to make a stop. Place was buzzing with people and a queue. Staff was trying to handle phone orders and in-store orders so we didn’t try to ask any questions. Board showed a great selection of sandwiches and Thanksgiving turkey caught our eyes. Maybe it was not the right choice as the sandwich we received was underwhelming. We have never seen a Turkey sandwich so sad looking. Definitely not giving a Thanksgivings vibe. Made us regret that we didn’t stop at Jersey Mike’s. If pulled pork sandwiches are the specialty, will be good to know on the board.
Grace S — Google review
Unfortunately no pictures of the sandwich it was that good. I inhaled it. Damn that sandwich was good, steak and cheese. Perfect combo. Highly reccomened as a stop.
Fred G — Google review
Visiting the area and tried this place based on reviews. We had the French burger, which had Brie & strawberry jam and the Thanksgiving sandwich. Burger was cooked perfectly and the Brie & berry combo was surprisingly good. The Thanksgiving sandwich was toasted to perfection. There wasn’t much to it (turkey, cheese & cranberry) but it was simply good. We upgraded to sweet potato fries (comes with chips) which came with this amazing dip. Fries were good. Portion sizes were good for us - not super sized but still larger than one portion. I would eat here again to try something else. There were several things on the menu that made it to my short list. They have fountain drinks and bottled beverages. Also desserts available. Dine inside or out (limited outside seating) Service was quick.
Patti D — Google review
Last night was our first time to dine at Hatch — but it won’t be our last! I had commented several times when heading downtown for a play that we should give it a try and we finally did. Yes, theater goers— its super close to Hickory Community Theater! We tried several things. The pulled pork grill cheese was delicious — piled high with pork and yummy cheese! We also order the three sides plate. We chose the Brussels sprouts with maple, the broccoli with miso, sumac roasted carrots. The broccoli stands out for the umami flavors and the carrots were just perfection. The REAL standout for the night was the charred eggplant with “cashew-cilantro cream, pickled mustard seeds, parsley, and hot honey”. WOW! It was amazing. It might not win any prizes for beauty, but for flavor, it is top notch! If they have this on special when you dine there, don’t miss it. We were actually using the bread from our sandwiches to get every last bit of that cashew cream from the plate. Yes, it is that good. When you are looking for a place that isn’t fancy or pretentious, has good prices and excellent food, give Hatch a try.
Michele H — Google review
Time for lunch and I was able to get a parking space close to Hatch. We ordered at the counter and took a seat in the back where sandwiches were delivered about 15 minutes later. Made to order and they were busy, so this is an appropriate time. They have a cooler with beers and canned/bottled sodas. There is also a self-service soda fountain in the back. It's a nice dining area with different options for seating including a large communal table, some high tops and low tops. There might be a wifi. Restrooms were clean. Sandwiches arrived and they were great. I had chose the "Club" which was ham, turkey and bacon with appropriate fixings. Delicious, slightly messy, very yummy. My wife had the "Thanksgiving Turkey" with cranberry and thick sliced tomato. Also excellent. Great lunch, nice little place. I'm glad we found it!
Bruce K — Google review
Cozy little sandwich shop with great variety and fresh ingredients. Tried the turkey avocado, thanksgiving, Reuben and turkey melt. All were great. Prices were reasonable. The Brussel sprouts were a great side. Lots of choices for beer and sodas. They offer takeout and no one waited more than 5 minutes while we were there. Place sits at one end of a quaint downtown street. Worth the stop.

American restaurant
FOURK is a trendy establishment with a vibrant ambiance, renowned for its unique American cuisine and specialty drinks. Nestled in a modern neighborhood setting, this restaurant has gained popularity for its innovative twist on classic dishes. It is situated in a charming location and is highly regarded for its delectable food and exceptional service. The menu features an array of tantalizing options including baked Brie, crab cakes, summer peach salads, seared scallops, and filet mignon.
When I say I NEVER give five stars on the first visit, I don't. I reserve those for the second visit on to see consistency. When I also tell you Fourk is life changing, I mean it. Every single dish I tried was thoughtful, creative and unexpected. I knew going into it that I only wanted to do apps, and a lot of them. The marrow mashed is insane. The levels of flavor, with the incorporated marrow, cheese and the pork belly make this (while a rich and slightly heavy choice) one that I will get every time. The crab cakes are a welcome change to what I've found since moving to NC (coming from CT and MA, the mecca of seafood) and a nice feeling of home. Lobster fondue. I don't think I need to say much about this other than if you like lobster, cheese or flavor, just get it. I am pretty sure I will have dreams about the ahi avocado. Two bite powerhouses STACKED with tuna, avocado and a nice spice that isn't overwhelming. Rounded out my evening with the bison sliders and if I could just get a plate of those, I would be happy. My wallet wouldn't because of the number of these I would inevitably put away but I would justify it to myself. I wish I remember the name of the waitress that served us. She was incredibly personable. Her recommendations were on point (I am coming back for the burrata, I just ran out of room!) and was the perfect balance of attentive and aware. The atmosphere here is amazing. Quiet and clean. The sound dampening cleverly hidden in the ceiling makes hearing each other super easy without echoes.

Very bad service and very sub par food. Destroyed my dinner. The sweet potato fries were burned (in the pic). I asked them to not add pork belly to my "Frutti di mare" , and they did it regardless without informing me. Im glad it wasn't a religious restriction else it would have been nasty. I did not eat it. The wine cake was sub par and not worth $11 a slice. Only saving grace was the Burrata. Would definitely not recommend, seems like they are lazy and not only wont see the requests , which is weird cause they have that option on their ordering website, they wont even inform you about that.

Choosing to meet family half way, Hickory had a restaurant that was new to me; Fourk. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, service was very good, and the wide array of lunch options was most pleasing. The portions were plenty at reasonable prices. The chicken wrap was excellent. The shrimp tacos tasted as good as they look, along with the bacon cheeseburger. The sweet potatoe fries were yummy. They also have some choice drafts on hand. We will be back.
Charles J — Google review
Went out to Fourk for my boyfriend and I's 7 year anniversary and it was amazing. Just a warning, there are 2 locations in Hickory so make sure you know which location you reserve your spot for. Parking is just across the street, is free, and easily accessible. Service was on the slow side due to 2 parties of people coming in right before us however the waiter did well keeping up with our drink refills and food with the busy hours. We ordered the Lobster Fondue for our appetizer and it was great. My boyfriend ordered the Ribeye which was cooked perfectly and the potatoes and greens were good as well. I ordered the duck dish, I was unsure of it but this dish has to be one of my top 5 of all time and I am 💯 going to be coming back to order it again. 10/10 and great for a casual meal or dressing up (like we did) for a date night.

The food was amazing! We ordered a tuna wonton appetizer & really enjoyed them. I ordered the New York strip, medium, with vegetables & Yukon mashed potatoes. The steak was so tender, full of flavor, was so amazing. At our table was also the Colorado bison ribeye and it was very flavorful as well. Nice char on it outside. The sliders were enjoyed by our son. Our daughter enjoyed the chicken parmesan. I highly recommend. I did give the service a 3 star because our server took forever, we didn't see him for a long time. We arrived at 5p and took an hour and half before leaving. Not the cooks fault, seriously the server and him being wherever he was.

The Hickory Crawdads, also known as the Dads by locals, are Hickory's very own Minor League Baseball team established in 1993. Their home games take place at the L.P. Frans Stadium, named after a local Pepsi manufacturer who contributed to its construction. With over 4,000 seats and several dining options, the stadium offers a great experience for sports enthusiasts and families alike.
Love this place. Staffs great and food and drinks have been getting better this season. From what I understand there's a new management company over the concessions this year. We've been a few times this year and every time the stuff has been getting better. Excited for the future.

I don't say this often, but if you remotely enjoy going to baseball games this has to be a stop for you. One of the best ballgame experiences I've had. They make it very fun, the staff is incredibly polite and tentative. We sat right behind homeplate. Warning the fans are loud, but hilarious and not vulgar. The players play hard and kept the game fun to watch. The prices are unbeatable, just all-around a great family outing for all ages. Absolutely worth going to a game.

It's a slightly quieter, older-style stadium but still fun, clean and with a nice kids area (there's a carousel!). They do lots of fun events and rebrands and giveaways, and have a great mascot. The ballgames are enjoyable and fun, and the whole place is just very "Homey" and down to earth. They also have had, for a few years running now, a special where you get a $6 ticket if you bring a church bulletin on Sundays (Unless it's 4th July weekend or memorial day weekend). Staff are super friendly and accommodating, the whole vibe is just relaxing, good, honest family fun, and we've never had a bad experience here. I've also sung the National anthem here several times, and so have a few of my vocal students, as well as some of my fellow teachers' students, and the staff we've worked with have been exceptionally polite and friendly on those occasions as well.

Well, if you don't wanna have a good time, you better NOT come here. You will clap, laugh, cheer, drink some beer, or tasty beverage of choice. Conrad will swing by and throw you a claw (high five). Kids will run bases, and games will be played. The Crawdads never fail to make an ordinary baseball game something special! Don't take my word for it! Come check it out!

My daughter and I truly love coming to the games especially the 4th of July game. We’ve been the last 4 years but I have to say the only thing that disappoints me every year is the lady who butchers the National Anthem. I am an army combat veteran who always cries at the National Anthem bc it means something different to me bc I have been to Iraq. But she butchers the song and it just annoys me bc the song is very powerful the way it was originally played and sang, so maybe next year yall can find someone who can sing it the original way. 🤷🏻‍♀️🇺🇸

Great single A park. Love the atmosphere. Only $3 parking. There was a gentleman with a large card collection set up on Fridays and Saturdays right when you enter the stadium with low priced cards. Fun novelty! Lots of activations on the concourse and a friendly staff. Great priced food. The tenders and fries for $7 was a steal! Tons of food. Good quality baseball and a nice night out. Came from Charlotte. Neat little city and the downtown area has come together nicely.

Vegetarian restaurant
Crescent Moon Cafe is a trendy, dimly lit pub that boasts a selection of over 25 rotating draft microbrews. The menu features gourmet flatbreads, sandwiches, hot dogs, and tacos with options for vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free diets. The eclectic decor adds to the cool ambiance with a vague space theme. Visitors praise the abundant vegan options and reasonable prices. While some experienced delays in service, others found the staff friendly and the food excellent.
I am thoroughly impressed, and that almost never happens to me when it comes to food. I ordered the Creole bean burger before going to work today. As a vegan, it's sometimes difficult to find food and food that's actually tasty without all of the highly processed ingredients... in my opinion. I ordered it without tomato, sauce, and cheese. It was so good I immediately ordered another before I finished the first one. The burger was yum, not too salty, either. Huge bonus! I will absolutely be back soon for another.

Recently heard about this place and decided to give it a try. It was incredibly busy. Decent beer selection, but they were out of numerous options. The flat bread was great. Service was slow, but they were unusually busy. Can't wait to try it again on a normal night.

Nice pub vibe with clean, fresh food! Parking can be a bit of a challenge during peak hours. It located in the historic area and absolutely worth the visit! All food is made to order.

First time here. Nice atmosphere. Dark but I like it. The food was good. Huge beer selection. The service was good as well. Will definitely come back.

Cute little bar with a fantastic selection of beers – but more importantly, offering fantastic vegetarian menu options in addition to normal favorites. Wife and I loved the mango chutney & brie quesadilla (Pro tip – add jalapeño for kicking flavor), along with the Creole Bean burger. and Allyson was super fun to chat with too!

This place has it all: food is yummy and original, service is fast, friendly and knowledgeable, atmosphere is great, and their selection of beers is spectacular. I have discovered a local variety that has become my new favorite!

Who ever came up with the pimento cheese and jelly sandwich is amazing...I was convinced that was a no for me. Was pleasantly surprised, loved it. Which ever creative chef back there is a keeper. Everything I've had yet has been more than enough to keep me happy back for more...soups, subs. Absolutely worth trying, the lunch cook is the best thing about this place

Fast food restaurant
Checkers is a popular fast-food chain that has been a leader in the drive-thru industry for more than three decades. This chain eatery specializes in serving classic fast-food favorites such as burgers, hot dogs, french fries, and shakes. Checkers locations are currently open and ready to serve customers with the added convenience of drive-thru service. The restaurant also offers an enclosed dining area for guests who prefer to dine on-site.
I’m not really sure where all the bad reviews are coming from. Maybe it was just an off day for them. I just went through the drive-through AI speaker was just fine, My food taste fantastic, The service was great. I think that if you’re going out to eat, you have to have some sort of patience when it comes to wait times because restaurants are so understaffed anymore, if you don’t like to wait, simply eat at home. But I will say in the drive-through I waited no longer than 7 minutes that was ordering and getting my food (with others ahead of me) and everything at lunch time in a Saturday.
Heather G — Google review
Not better than the old Checkers. The burger was very bland and slimy like and the mayo was oozing out the bun. Chicken bites were rubbery. The only thing good was the fries. I was so nauseated from trying to eat the burger I couldn't even eat my fries. Other than that service was really quick and everyone was pleasant to speak with.
Divine L — Google review
Usually good service, few mistakes until they started using the ai speaker that always gets things wrong and interrupts you ordering to ask if you would like extras. The employees are nice and the food is usually good but ordering at the speaker has become annoying and impersonal. I like it better when the employees took orders because they always got the order right and didn’t interrupt to ask follow up questions that aren’t needed or try to sell you half the menu every time you order.
Carrie K — Google review
Went there today around 3:00, I live in Lenoir and had DR appointment in Hickory and I didn't know Hickory had Checker's, brought back memories when I used to live the one in Lenoir and I missed it because they shut down. Anyway I was excited and had the Big burger and fries and it was delicious! The fries were hot and fresh! The employee was very nice. I will definitely be back! The price was fair and worth it for sure! Thank you!
Danielle C — Google review
Checkers is old school checkers no updates. I've always loved the fries here. Had checkers ever since I was a kid love the place. Just had it a couple of times recently again and the patty just doesn't sit right with me. Fries are as good as always though.

Didn’t order food. Waited to order for approximately 8 minutes before I tapped on the window . The lady opened it yelled at me not to touch her window, I told her we had been waiting for about 10 mins and she said we had just walked up and shut the window in my face. We checked life 360 and had indeed been there for 10 mins. We left and went to cookout. Bad vibes.
Skylar S — Google review
Just ordered for the office on a Saturday lunch, bacon was uncooked , hamburger patties was claimed that they was freshly made and they were dry and salt and they open at 10 and it was only 20-25 mins of them being open . I called the location store 1000 HICKORY NC and I was told nicely “ that their stuff is fresh and bacon was not raw it was cooked to standard and i disagreed , I also asked for my money back and that’s was not a option . However he did agree to replace the order but take a look at the picture and tell me that’s not “ UNCOOKED BACON “! Keep in mind I paid $54 next time I’ll spend my $$ at longhorn 😮‍💨

Since this place has reopened it has stayed super busy. Today finally got the opportunity to go back. The building designs on the outside is pretty cool. Parking here is very slim. Did see some picnic tables where you could sit and eat. The guy taking the orders seemed to be manager or something. He was kind of pushy and made me feel rushed(no big deal just a pet peeve of mine) Got to the window and he took my card to pay, had my card forever I almost forgot it. As I was waiting I noticed the kitchen area was a disaster! Food was mushed all over the floor and empty containers laying around. Kind of dirty looking in general. Maybe they were just too busy to clean? But our food was good and fresh. Got the 2 big Buford combos for 13.00. And the fries are my fav!

The restaurant boasts an extensive selection of wines from around the world, complementing the eclectic flavors on offer. With a charming ambiance and tastefully set tables, this dining experience is both elegant and relaxed. We had a great evening at Cafe Rule to celebrate a birthday. We booked the chefs table. It is located in a separate room from the dining room. Our waiter Landon was excellent. The queens feast we delicious. My only complaint is two people in our group ordered the meatball appetizer. They received cold meatballs. The mozzarella cheese wasn't even melted on them.

First and foremost our waitress was very hospitable! We loved Paige! Made sure to check in regularly. Wonderful waitress. This was our first time here, a friday night. - Atmosphere: no music or anything, not terrible but not really an ambience different than Olive Garden, honestly a little less😬 - made a reservation and had to wait 15 min after to be seated - we did send my pasta back due to chicken being under cooked and pasta was dry and room tempt. But the next dish was a lot better! - not a lot of flavor but it’s ok. - my husbands pizza was burnt on the edges but falling off on the center? (I’m thinking it was just reheated.. and a bit too much, but who knows..) - sent utensil back that was used for dishing the pizza, it was most definitely just wiped off and brought back, we could still see the streaks. * side note: 2 other tables near us walked out due to not getting anything. “ the building is giving fancy, everything else is giving mediocre” - my husband. First and last time coming here. Unfortunately, definitely not worth the amount we paid.

Wow! Another incredible experience at this amazing restaurant! They went above and beyond to create a beautiful birthday celebration for our group, with a table setting that felt so special and thoughtful. The service was absolutely outstanding—Sophia and Courtney, along with one of the managers on duty, treated us like royalty. True superstars! I was blown away by the level of hospitality and can’t wait to return for more: fresh, delicious pasta, wonderful wine, decadent desserts, and that perfectly relaxed atmosphere. This has officially become our favorite place in town!

Love love love this restaurant! You have to try their pasta menu. You won’t be let down at all. The atmosphere was amazing and calming. On top of that, our waitress did a splendid job on assisting and checking on us in a timely manner. Couldn’t have asked for a better one! We will be back!

We had our wedding reception at Rule Italian Prime and Pasta on Saturday, May 3rd. The whole experience working with Kaylana from beginning to end was so wonderful! In the planning process, she was so accommodating and helpful. She answered all of our questions, thought of details we didn't, and really reassured us that we had made a good choice to host our reception there. Our wedding reception was beautiful and the service was amazing! I need to highlight our servers Alejandro, Samantha, and Landon. They were SO kind and attentive, and did an amazing job working our event. They were so competent, provided excellent customer service, and were so adaptable (shoutout for squeegee-ing the rain off dance floor)! The food was delicious and it truly was a perfect night. The atmosphere was romantic and personal. Whether you're wanting a delicious meal for a date night out or looking to host an event, Rule is the place to go! I can't thank their staff enough for all they did to make my wedding such an amazing day!

We went for our anniversary. We got the and the was a card on the table from the staff where everyone wished us a happy anniversary. That was so thoughtful! The place is gorgeous. Staff are amazing. But the food was just OK for the most part. The appetizers were delicious but the entries left a lot to be desired. I ordered the shrimp scampi and when our lovely waitress brought it out the shrimp were way overcooked and inedible. I am not the one who sends food back so I did inform our waitress. She asked me if I wanted it remade and I told her I'm not comfortable with that but please inform your staff so it doesn't happen to the next guest. She came back 5 minutes layer with fresh shrimp that were cooked much better. She really didn't have to do that but it was very sweet of her. Samantha made the poor food experience better with her amazing service.

What a wonderful place for my daughters birthday celebration! The atmosphere was quiet and calming, we were seated outside. Not very busy for a Wednesday night, but it was perfect. Kaylanna and her staff outdid themselves to set up for my daughter's birthday and made it very special for us. Robin was the absolute best , and the food was delicious! Thanks for making it as special night for us, we will be back!
Tammy R — Google review
Service was poor. Waiter never filled our drinks and barely checked on us. We got the Shrimp scampi which was nothing short of just okay. Olive Garden would have been just as good… The ribeye was also nothing special. Asked for it to be cooked medium rare and it was certainly over cooked. Was really hoping this might be our next regular date night spot but was completely let down:/

Arby's is a fast-food establishment renowned for its roast beef offerings. They serve a wide array of hot and cold sandwiches, alongside fries and shakes. Recently, I dined at Arby's after a long absence and was pleasantly reminded of the delectable taste of their roast beef sandwiches. Additionally, I indulged in their crispy curly fries which perfectly complemented the main dish. Utilizing the convenient drive-thru service, my food arrived promptly without any significant delay.
I have to say—this Arby’s truly deserves a shoutout. I came in right before closing, fully expecting the usual end-of-day rush, but the staff treated me with nothing but kindness and great service. No rush, no attitude—just solid hospitality. The Beef and Cheddar sandwich? Absolute perfection. Fresh, hot, and packed with flavor. The roast beef was tender, the cheddar was gooey and rich, and the Arby’s sauce brought it all together just right. I've had plenty of Arby’s meals, but this one hit different. Props to the team working that night—you made a regular Arby’s fan an even bigger one. This is hands-down the best Arby’s I’ve been to.

The food is always good. It’s expensive but good. This location has a bad habit of leaving things out of your bag. They never get it right. Gotta ask for napkins, straws, etc. you better ask or you won’t get it. Edit: This location is terrible. Waited 25 min in drive thru. The salad we got was very low quality. Had the bad PCs if lettuce in it. We will not come back to this location. Bad experience.

I went to Arby’s and ordered 2 bacon fries , a chicken sandwich plain , and 4roast beefs I had to drive back because the chicken sandwich was forgotten and it didn’t bother me that much after I drove back and got it . I got home and my chicken sandwich was not plain it had mayo or some kind of sauce all over it . And my bacon fries came with ranch which that wasn’t there fault I should’ve said no ranch but it was new for me and I’ve never tried there bacon cheese fries so I didn’t know what all came on it . Hopefully I can go back Tomorrow and get a refund it was too late to go back and have it changed .

I give 2 stars because maintenance is highly recommended on the boardwalk especially near location where the ducks are supposed to be seen. That area can be very dangerous to someone that is not paying attention to their surroundings nor their footing. A new structure is definitely needed for that area. Besides the caution areas. It's a decent area for nature pictures.

I love this park. I first went here in college, we picked up trash and planted trees. Now I take my son here. He loves nature and seeing the ducks, geese, beavers, etc. It's experienced a lot of overgrowth and damage from the storms but there is so much beauty still there. Lots of playgrounds and area to run around.

This park is mostly for trail biking. The bathrooms were filthy. When we arrived the police had a man detained in the parking lot and were searching his car. There was litter everywhere. Glenn Hilton Memorial is a much nicer park. I wrote this in 2020. We revisited to today in 2025. And the portable toilets are still filthy! With all the money spent on the Riverwalk you'd think they would put in permanent bathroom or at very least empty the portable ones

L. P. Frans Stadium, located in Winkler Park, is a baseball stadium with a seating capacity of over 5,000 people. It serves as the home field for the Hickory Crawdads in the High-A East Minor League Baseball division. The stadium was constructed in 1993 and offers an ideal setting for enjoying a baseball night out with friends and family. Visitors have praised the cleanliness of the stadium and its exciting atmosphere during games.
This is an awesome minor league ballpark. We had the chance to watch a doubleheader. My son was more than pleased with the bounce house, the playground, and the carousel. The food was good, and we are hooked on Cheerwine. With Hickory being a nice city, too, we will definitely return for more ballgames.

The facility is nice, the vendor lines were soooo long though. It wasn't even busy I can only imagine if it would've been busy. The main critique I have is the tiny seemingly closet sized apparel store. We could barely move around. They should limit the amount of guests inside at a time. Way to small of a space for an fan apparel store !!!!!!!

It's been years since we've been here for a game and I was pleasantly surprised about how clean it was. The game was exciting, the food was tasty, and the atmosphere invigorating. I definitely want to come back again. Great way to introduce kids to baseball games without the huge crowds of MLB game.

Lots of fun cheering on the Crawdads!!! Everyone loves hotdogs at ballgames, just wish they were a better quality here (Nathans are very salty and they don't "plump" when heated) and they should be served HOT, not cool to the touch, my only complaint. Fun Times, Great Stadium. Friday nite games have a great firework show afterwards and always fun events for the kids and adults alike. GO 'Dads!!!! 📣👏🎇🎆

Such a cool place to check out! We are local and come several times a year and we always learn something new! Their staff is amazing, very knowledgeable and they love answering all our kids questions!

Nice place with planes of the golden age of aviation! Was there in Sept. 2025 and some were moved already to the new location. The staff is super friendly and they have always time for a talk! I will return definitely when the new location opens!

Very interesting collection of models and memorabilia as well as actual aircraft. Indoor displays cover history of US military aviation, outside 1950s to 2000. Friendly staff, good for kids.

I really enjoyed when I saw the airplane and known all the information about it There’s great details and stories It’s for free but you should to pay a tip

Excellent museum. Fantastic volunteers some of which will give you first hand experiences from their time in those aircraft.

Love the people and their knowledge of the planes! It was great that they gave tours for our homeschool group.
Michele M — Google review
My family and I went to the museum and we had so much fun! The planes on the ground were awesome to look at, and we even got to tour one that was just recently retired. We had lunch at the café and the food there was awesome! Sadly, the café will be closing October 24, 2025, but the museum is still worth going to. The museum has lots of exhibits and things to see. We had a great time and would definitely recommend it to any aviation enthusiast or anyone in general who just likes to look at airplanes. 😊

Mas Amor Cantina is a vibrant Tex-Mex restaurant in Hickory that offers a spacious and lively atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for a fun dinner with friends. The menu is filled with a variety of flavorful Tex-Mex dishes, including both classic favorites and innovative creations. Guests particularly rave about the elote, which is perfectly seasoned with cotija cheese and house-made tequila butter.
One of the best places in Hickory NC!! The food is amazing!! And the prices are very reasonable. Great Atmosphere and the Bartender Amy Tesh is so friendly and makes the best Margaritas in town!! Seriously Mas Amor definitely gives all their customers much love!! Just like the restaurants name says!!

Absolutely incredible and fresh. Decor is inviting and stylish. The dill pickle margarita was really good. Chips and salsa perfect. Dishes have fresh ingredients. Highly recommend!

The food and margaritas were just delicious and hit the spot. The service was absolutely top notch. We just found a lovely spot to dine in.

Overall, a great experience. We got the Spicy Strawberry Margarita and Mojito Margarita, which were very delicious. The chicken wing appetizer, street corn side, and churros were all excellent. The mains were a bit hit or miss, but they definitely make up for it with great apps and sides.

Wow! We had such a great experience at Mas Amor. Came in on a Friday night (it was busy so make a reservation) and took a seat at the bar. Our bartender, Jackie, was so accommodating and friendly! The food was delicious. They bring out chips and salsa to start. The chips are thin and fresh. We also ordered some guacamole to try with the chips. I ordered the chicken fajitas. Definitely a big portion and shareable. I also got a strawberry margarita that was amazing. Overall 10/10 experience and worth the money!

We brought an out of town guest with us on a Tuesday evening. We wanted to try the all you can eat taco bar that we'd seen advertised. It was a pretty slow night, which is not what you want for a buffet type meal. I think things would be better on a busier night. That said, I had three delicious tacos, tasty charro beans, chips, salsa & guac. Plus, I definitely recommend Mama's Horchata - Yum! And you can't beat the ambiance. Love the vibe!

Mas Amor is one of the best restaurants I've eaten at in a long time and probably the best Mexican food ever. I got the veg fajita and what an amazing taste it had. The chips and dips where very fresh and having three options of sauces were great. The staff were all very friendly and our waitress Mia did an outstanding job of making sure we didn't run out of anything. The cocktails were spot on and tasted wonderful. If you are in Hickory NC this is a must place to visit.

We decided to try Mas Amore Cantina because we saw NC Foodies YouTube video on it. We went on a Thursday for lunch, after doing some shopping. Upon entering I noticed there were only three people working the restaurant, two guys doing the cooking and a young lady serving the whole restaurant. They also had a bar with no one behind it but I took note of a bottle of Buffalo Trace Bourbon as it’s one of my favorites. There were 5 tables seated including us so she was doing the best she could. I ordered the Brisket Grilled Cheese and my fiancé ordered the Chicken Quesadilla, I also ordered a double of Buffalo Trace Bourbon neat. After getting our food we started eating, I noticed my Brisket Grilled Cheese looked more like a Crunchwrap from Taco Bell but took a few bites thinking it was their take on the classic Grilled Cheese. The waitress rushed over and told me that it was the Birria Crunchwrap and was intended for another table. She took the food from me without asking if I wanted to keep it, I would’ve, and assured me that my order was about to come out. I asked about my drink and she informed me that she didn’t put the order in because she didn’t know what that was and didn’t see it on her screen. I told her it was a bourbon at the bar and she had me walk over to the bar and point it out to her. I walked back over to my table and started to eat my food. I was almost done with my food and had about given up on the drink because I figured she was just to busy to pour it. When she came back to the table she told me that the Buffalo Trace is not in her system and her manager had told her they don’t have any. I was caught off guard a bit and trying not to sound rude said “I know you have it I showed it to you at the bar and it’s clearly had drinks poured from it.” She said she was sorry and not sure what to do. I told her to forget about the drink it’s not her fault and to just bring a box for our food. It was just an odd exchange and I didn’t want to push the issue by bringing a manager over and possibly embarrassing the waitress, like I said before, she was doing her best being the only one. OVERALL, the food was good, service was bad but that wasn’t the waitress’s fault, and management seems clueless to what’s in there restaurant. I’m hesitant to try the place again, but kinda want to give it another chance when they have more staff. So far I can’t recommend this restaurant to my friends or anyone that has made it this far into my review, purely based on the service alone. Maybe today was an off day, hopefully it will be better if we ever decide to give it a second chance.

When I tell you, this is the dirtiest restaurant I have ever been in; in my life. The floor was caked in dirt, grime, I had to move away from the window because I saw ants and they were trailing onto the wooden chair I was sitting on. The salt was wet inside the shaker, the windows were oily and smudged. After a while me and my fiance got so uncomfortable we considered just leaving altogether. The food was fine for what it was, the fries were served cold, so I am not sure how long they had been prepared for. I ended up not finishing my food because it was giving me the ick so bad, I was scared of getting food poisoning when I don't have a lot of sick days at my job to take a risk like that. Overall avoid.

I've eaten here for years and it's my favorite breakfast spot. Today my guy ate with me, first time and he was really impressed! He absolutely loved his breakfast omelet burrito in sausage gravy. I opted for the build your own omelet w avocado instead of toast. Eric in the kitchen did a phenomenal job. Elijah was our server and he was so polite and helpful.

First time coming and it was okay, maybe we didn’t know what was good to order for breakfast here… I was invited out to this place but probably wouldn’t come on my own. Service was pretty slow plus we needed one of our orders fixed cause we asked for no tomato and the hash brown casserole had an overwhelming amount of onion, it ended up taking 30+ mins to get that order back. Not to mention a small hair that was under the side of my pancake which I couldn’t take a picture of because my boyfriend didn’t want to mention anything to anyone and just avoid the area the hair was in 😅 The bacon also had an odd brownish color to it which threw me off, the only thing you can’t go wrong with is a pancake 👍

Little family owned restaurant that is always a pleasure to be at. The staff is friendly, the food is delicious, and it’s a great little local spot. We were there on Mother’s Day and they were swamped. As a fellow restaurant owner we understand how difficult it can be to take care of customers on busy days let alone holidays. The two ladies running the front of house did a fantastic job! They communicated to everyone about the wait and to be patient but that they would take care of everyone. The kitchen staff busted their behinds to get food out as fast as possible. All in all they did a heck of a job. I’m happy to support this local spot!

I am ServSafe certified and have worked with food for almost 8 years. This was the most blatanly disgusting dining room Ive ever seen. The photos are just a small sample. There were ants crawling across the floor. Its the deep cleaning thats missing, you have to do more than just wiping tables and leaving them sticky. Im scared of what it looked like behind the counter. I can handle a messy room after a lunch rush but this is build-up not just a messy room. Service was almost non-existent.

Just had breakfast "special" here. I understand prices are high, and I'm willing to pay... BUT... you have no table service. You order at counter. They were out of coffee and had to change the pot before we got ours. It looks us 28 minutes to get our food. It was not hot. I got 2 slices of bacon. My husband got 3 on the exact same order. We got biscuits that had zero taste and had to go back up and ask for jam. I am posting a photo which may look delicious...trust me, it wasn't. Over 30.00 and I left a lot of it on my plate. 2 trips in one, first and last. Not one person asked if our food was okay.

Today was my first time here and I have to say it was not a let down. The service was very good. The ladies up front were very helpful. The menu is exciting and has specials. My wife has been a patron here for 20 years. She loves it. When we got our food it was delicious! It’s very nice inside too. Local art covers the walls and it can be purchase. Support the locals!! They have outdoor seating as well. I am very eager to have breakfast here too. I would have posted a 5 star review if it was a little cleaner. There was some tables dirty from previous patrons and I didn’t notice the ladies making it a priority to get them clean for other customers. Not a big deal tho. I review a lot of places and a few dirty tables don’t deter me. It kinda reflects on management. When we left, they were still dirty. I honestly highly recommend this place. I can wait to go back. Coffee is amazing too!!

The food was good. My husband had pizza while I had the lobster ravioli. They didn't skimp on the lobster and the sauce was good although I prefer the sauce a little thinner since the cheese inside the ravioli is thick. Flavor was very good, though. My husband said the pizza was okay. He likes a crisper crust and found the sauce too seasoned for his taste. The service was very good. Our waitress checked on us just enough and was very pleasant.

I chose to order take out with my department while working at the hospital. I asked my coworker to order the Alfredo, sub angel hair for fettuccine and add chicken. (Which she clearly did) Never have I paid $19 for something so basic. I just specifically can’t get over the $2 Alfredo up charge on the actual “Alfredo” order. Clearly they don’t look out for their delivery orders and instead take advantage of random up charges… after all, isn’t that what putting a phone number on your order would be helpful for?

The food here is absolutely amazing. I usually get the pizza, but my family all usually get some kind of shrimp pasta. The service is hit or miss; sometimes it's quick, and the servers are friendly, but other times, especially with a younger server, there are long waits (not the servers fault, I know), and it often feels like we've been forgotten. For a quick example, the other day when we went here, my glass of water was empty for a good ten minutes before the server even came back to our table to check on us. The atmosphere is very homey and cozy, although the tables can feel a bit clustered, espeucally when they're busy.

We visited your establishment for the first time on July 26, 2025 for my birthday. We waited 15 minutes before our server, Sara, came to get our drink order. The drinks and appetizer was excellent. I am not sure how long we waited for our entree, but it was a while. Again, the food was excellent. There was not excuse for why the dinner was delayed. Other guests that had arrived after us were being served. Our server said well we have gotten busy. (Not so) As it was my birthday we were going to have dessert and coffee, however we were brought our bill and told goodbye. On the way out, we mentioned to the hostess that Sara need more training. We were told that she is New. I will try your restaurant again as the food is so good, but I hope the service is much better.

Salsarita's Fresh Mexican Grill is a vibrant counter-service chain that specializes in crafting personalized burritos, nachos, and quesadillas. With its colorful ambiance, it’s the perfect spot for a quick meal or a leisurely dine-in experience. Many patrons rave about the fresh food bar where you can customize your order to suit your taste buds.
We hired Hickory Salsarita’s to cater our daughter’s wedding. They were absolutely phenomenal, professional, gracious, friendly, helpful, and everyone said the food was so delicious and fresh. They traveled about 30 minutes for us and we couldn’t be more pleased with our servers, Zach & Heather; Randy who’s over catering, and everyone involved with the food. We definitely recommend Salsarita’s for your catering needs. So thankful for you guys!!!
Amy D — Google review
I love Salsarita’s in general — the food selection, service, BUT I have a major source of contention for this Hickory Salsarita’s. The prices in the computer do not always match the prices on the menu board — this is FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. I have spoken with management about this, and it has never been resolved. Essentially, they are OVERCHARGING customers and taking advantage of people who don’t notice. This is not fair to the public! Just be aware people if you’re watching your budget. Here is just one recent example from this location. I eat at many different Salsarita’s regularly. You can see the menu board for kid’s meals has it broken down into 1) cheese, 2) pork/chicken/beef, and 3) steak/shrimp categories. However, if you add lettuce or tomato, the price rings up higher. I questioned this, because I ordered the cheese nachos, but the employee said that allowed “cheese only.” I asked, because that doesn’t apply to adult entrees where you add your toppings, and other Salsarita’s do not charge more. The employee showed me that all the prices for the kid’s meals were actually ‘a little bit different’ in the computer depending on what you ordered (his words). That doesn’t even sound right — there is only one price listed on the menu board. Pay attention — more and more restaurants are not updating their menus, and you’re actually paying more than you think you are. Those listed prices on the menus influence our purchases and splurges more than we think, and companies can take advantage of that. Imagine, for example: just an extra $1.25 from 75 customers each day for 30 days = $2,812.50. It adds up quickly! Take care, all.
Danay D — Google review
My biggest complaint was I ordered the taco salad, and the server barely put any lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, or jalapeños... you know things that make it a salad. I had to pay $.75 for a crunchy taco bowl 🥣 😩 and $.50 for a very small cup for water. Needless to say, lunch costs more than I normally like to pay. I probably won't go back. I passed El Paso to eat here, and at El Paso, I know I will get a great salad 🥗.

I have eaten at the Hickory Salsaritas regularly for 14 years. Most of the time, its at lunch and the food is good. But tonight I was absolutely blown away by the service I received!! The food good as usual but the service was AMAZING! Xiomara started with a huge smile and was very attentive, Salin was next, soft-spoken but customer focused. Lastly was Lucero and Skyler, ending the line with huge smiles and pleasantries. As my husband & I ate, we watched this rock star team of young people that complimented each other, supported each other and consistantly made each customer feel valued. It was such a breath of fresh air! I may have to start skipping lunch and come here for dinner instead!

I love this restaurant. It is actually just about the same thing , very similar to Moe's Southwest Grill. You can dine in or carry out. They have a fresh food bar and you go down the line and select your own food and sides individually. The prices are reasonable and the food is delicious. This place is definitely a 5 star⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ restaurant. They are fast paced and very cooperative. They always make sure your order is right. Whether youre looking for somewhere to grab quickly, carryout takeout and eat, or to dine it and have a nice dinner this is the place to go. They also provide catering services and they are on point with their catering also. I went there today to get a carryout order and the restaurant was packed full and several people were in line i got in, ordered my food, and got out in less than 10 mins. They were preparing 11 catering orders and they were busy but very fast paced, organized, they pay attention to you and make sure things are correct, and they're very polite, understanding, and cooperative.

Biscuits were frozen so they wouldn't throw one on the grill. - Lack of Food Preparation. As a former WH Employee, you should have plenty of biscuits dethawed for the day. Management is slacking. If you intend to have a biscuit, I recommend going to a different store. Will not be giving a single store a 4 or 5 star review until they discontinue the additional .50c per egg. Other restaurant chains are already calling out WH for scamming people on eggs. This egg shortage is fake in most areas Bacon was near raw. I ordered burnt. Eggs were not well done as ordered, instead, they were cooked lightly. Hashbrowns are burnt - Specifically ordered not burnt. Worst service I've ever been provided at a WH. Bacon is currently on grill at the time of this photo. Silverware are dirty. Overall: Bacon came out terrible. No biscuits. Eggs not cooked completely. Hashbrowns burnt. Management is awful - food prep not conpleted for the day, (1:30pm). Food prep should be completed in the menu to cover the entire shift. Then prepare other needs for 2nd and 3rd shifts. 18.25 including $5 tip for hashbrowns, waffle, and eggs. Very expensive garbage.

A few handicapped parking spaces with easy Van/Ramp access. Beau is an awesome waiter, very polite and friendly, excellent with keeping things topped off and checking to make sure we didn't need anything. Food was okay for a quick greasy meal after drinking a few cocktails at the local bar. Atmosphere isnt very friendly unless there is a happy or "party" crowd in. Even the employees are pretty stiff snd rigid in their actions and mannerisms. I had the Texas Chicken Bacon Melt Plate, and again. It was adequate. Hashbrowns were almost burnt. Waffle was back and hard as a brick. The soda didn't taste great either, its almost like the bib pines need to be flushed and the filters need to be cleaned.. Over all, i'd give the place a 7/10.

Mercedes was our server and was great! Stella had great conversation with us while washing dishes and always had a smile on her face no matter if she was working with coworkers or customers. Jacob and Ren were quick to help grab us silverware and butter while our server was busy. The entire team seemed to enjoy working together. Would come here again.

No idea how the food tastes. After waiting for 15 minutes for a table to be clean (all tables dirty with customers eating at the rest) we ask if we just need to pick a table to clean. Staff on duty informs our party of 5 that they are only doing carry out. Why would all 5 of our party come in to pick up a to go order and why was this not questioned when we first come in? 0/10 for poor communication and lack of courtesy for customers. Have never experienced this before at any waffle house of all hours of the night.

Explain to me how this place says 24/7.. two police officers show up and the doors are locked but yet people were inside eating.. keyword 24/7.. the lady just looks at us.. don't advertise 24/7 when we were on the road at midnight and looking for a place to eat for the doors to be locked. When you see law enforcement in uniform and they come to your place of business to eat.. BECAUSE it's advertised 24/7.. you should open the doors.

Honestly was the worst time I’ve ever gone. Been here plenty of times to a point where I thought I knew what to expect. Came in there were “open” tables but none clean. Was told to seat my self so me and my girl did and then were told a few minutes later not to sit where we were sitting. Moved seats NBD. Then after 6-7 minutes finally was asked what to drink and then came back no drinks and asked if we were ready to order so we did. Half the food finally came still no coffee or silverware but kept bringing us food. After about 5 minutes of my food sitting infront of me getting cold and still no coffee we just left. To which the server didn’t seem to care or even know why. All I know is the manager kept complaining she only had 3 servers and I’m looking at the 7 tables they have in there wondering what the issue was. If you need more staff hire more. If you need better staff pay more. It’s not rocket science.

Day 4

Off the beaten path
For day 4, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Henry Fork River Park. Not quite as popular as Catawba Science Center, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 7 hours.

Mountains
Bakers Mountain Park, located at the highest point in Catawba County, offers a fantastic opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts to immerse themselves in nature. With nearly 200 acres of mixed hardwood forest and an abundance of wildlife, visitors can enjoy hiking and biking along the six miles of scenic trails. The park's diverse flora, including mature Chestnut Oak and Mountain Laurel, provides a picturesque backdrop for outdoor activities.
This park is a fantastic destination for a hike. I spent a sunny afternoon exploring the Bakers Mountain Trail Loop and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The trail is well-maintained, with clear markers and location information, making navigation easy. Along the way, I walked through dense forests and peaceful groves, with parts of the path following a gentle creek. The highlight was the stunning view from the observation deck. Unfortunately, my phone quickly ran out of battery, so I couldn’t capture the scenery, but I’ll definitely return in the spring or summer to enjoy this hike again!

We took the Red Loop, which was definitely more difficult. I'm a little out of shape after this winter, so I had to rest at times to catch my breath on the steep inclines. The benches were conveniently located along the trail, so sitting and resting and listening to the birds before getting back up made it easier to continue. Plus my Yorkie needed breaks to rest and drink some water. She loved the creek as we descended to splash in and drink some fresh water after that long hike. We even stopped and picnicked on one of the benches before continuing our ascent. The view at the summit made it all worth it! Next time I'm feeling more lazy, I plan on taking the blue trail. I ran into a family that was on the blue trail and they definitely were out of breath and needed to sit and rest. I spoke with them for a bit. That makes me feel good to know it'll probably still be a bit of a challenge, however it's much shorter and I'm hoping not as steep since I don't believe it goes up to the summit.

Trails need to be better marked and not just color coded... Took the Red trail to the observation tower and so many people were confused since it splits up going up and coming down... Wear good boots and walking stick helps, which they do provide for free next to the bathrooms... Very Thankful for that...

By the time I reached the top I thought 'at least it's all downhill from here'... It's not. Somehow it's uphill both ways. Definitely a challenging hike and beautiful way to spend a Wednesday morning.
Dawn W — Google review
A beautiful hike. Enjoyed every bit of it. My heart rate was challenged, but doable. A great workout!I loved all the posts about different plants as they were easily recognizable. The Laurel is a beauty and in bloom at the moment!

First time visit. Was blown away by the beauty of the park and friendliness of staff. Can't wait to visit more often especially in fall weather. 🍂 🍁
D L — Google review
Nice, well maintained trails all the way to the top. Didn’t saw any people at the trail which was nice. The trail itself is moderately hard. Some places are quite steep. But the view at the top was nice.

Park
Soccer field
Henry Fork River Park in Hickory, North Carolina, is a fantastic destination for both sports enthusiasts and those seeking a leisurely day outdoors. Primarily known for its soccer facilities, the park features eight well-maintained soccer fields that host various matches throughout the year. Beyond soccer, visitors can enjoy two playgrounds perfect for children, an Alpine Tower ropes course for adventure seekers, and horseshoe pits for some friendly competition.
Excelente location. Well maintained plenty parking, needs work on cleaning the restroom. Field was marked correctly

This park was outstanding! I was looking for a convenient, safe & flat place to run some miles. If you’re in Hickory, go check this place out.
Walter D — Google review
A terrific facility. Unless soccer is a major activity in your family you may have missed this one. Great walking path around the entire park. River access for kayak and canoe paddlers! Picnic tables and grills!
D J — Google review
Sorry folks, but ‘A” toilet will NEVER be enough for 2000 people. Telling folks where to park will NEVER be a win for folks and finally, if you are supporting a tournament with all these people paying to be here, don’t insult our intelligence by wanting to start an hour later to “just let fields thaw out before we play on them. It’s Bermuda grass! I promise you won’t hurt its feelings or growing ability. Update: I don’t like folks that complain without solutions. So I would highly recommend at least ten portable toilets right at the base of the main toilets for tourneys. Second, let people park where they want and simply assist them with where more parking is located. And then of course, let people play at will on the fields. A tournament is ALWAYS on a time schedule, so don’t hold them back.🖖🇺🇸

Good place for athletic games nice paved walking trail along river with picnic tables and trash cans cons-no access to water from trail.

Great recreation park if you are looking for soccer fields. Plenty of parking and restroom facilities. Playgrounds for the kiddies and a small jogging / hiking loop that runs along the river. A good place for ball games and or to take a stroll of have a picnic.

Shopping
This expansive antique store, Hickory Antiques Mall Inc., offers a vast array of unique collections owned by various vendors. It is a destination where one can easily get lost in the multitude of sections, each specializing in different items such as records, glassware, toys, and dolls. The store provides an enjoyable experience with plenty to explore, even if one doesn't find something they like. The manager is accommodating and reasonable, making the visit pleasant.
We were here today been many times. There was this woman that was looking for the bathroom. Another woman said you took a right instead of a left just go through the door way. You would have thought something bad happened as the woman went up front to return key came back and a person that was with her started yelling and swearing at the woman. She said you should not treat my mother that way she is in mourning. Then she continued to cuss and bully rest of customers. Girls up front did nothing as this was disturbing to many. They did finally leave after saying the F word to me and many others. The worker kept her cool and just kept telling them to leave. Later we talked to Michell think she is in charge we explained what happened some customers are wrong at times and this was a time. We will continue to come here as we have always found nice things
Selma L — Google review
Huge selection of different items to browse and find something unique. Prices are higher than expected.
Felix J — Google review
4 stars - we stopped in after visiting rural king one day and had a great experience. This place is unique and full. Prices were fair to steep, but it is an antique mall so you wouldn't expect to find yardsale prices anyway. 4 stars because even though it is full of items, it is very congested in some areas where I didn't feel safe walking through with my family in worries of knocking something down. I also only purchased 2 items because I did not see any carts or bags/baskets to carry or push around to put items in. I would definitely come back though!
McKenna R — Google review
It's really frustrating and upsetting to be accused of something you didn't do. I was just trying to look at items in the store and one of the lady’s came up to me and accused me a theft.(I was holding the shirt in my hand) I slipped the shirt over my own to see if it fit (it was a tank top like shirt that you could see my own shirt underneath) because I didn’t see any dressing rooms and people have tried stuff on in the store before. If there had been a sign that said no trying on then I wouldn’t have up it on. it was very obvious I wasn’t stealing I put it on and then instantly took it off, i understand if it seemed like it but it simply wasn’t the case. She snatched the shirt out my hand and told me it would be set off by the alarms if I tried to take it. (The shirt was 10$….) I’ve never stolen!!! I am a teenage kid I’m 17 and being accused of theft is very scary as a young girl. I apologized and asked if she was accusing me of theft and she lied to my face and give me an attitude, she was very rude and started making up random stuff to make me look bad. I was also with a young boy my age and she didn’t give him the same treatment as she did with me. Nor anyone else. I don’t complain often and I don’t like to complain but I felt really mistreated and very hurt by that woman’s actions. I also noticed around the store had basically trash, broken necklaces and broken items, i understand it’s a thrift store but if you are so worried about a 10 dollar shirt then at least look at your other items and make sure they are at least worth selling…. I also saw items that were very over priced and not worth the value. Walking in I felt very off, it wasn’t pleasant being in that store.
Jaci W — Google review
This was our first time visiting the antique mall and it was definitely worth the hour + drive to get there. We found so many cool things. Clothes, music, books, kitchen items, crystals, shoes, posters, stuffed animals to many things to list. They literally have a little bit of everything. We will definitely be going back ❣️

The Lowes Foods City Park is a wonderful destination with numerous activities, particularly suited for older children. It received a four-star rating due to this age preference, but it remains an enjoyable experience. Close supervision is necessary for younger ones, including two-year-olds who can have a great time under watchful eyes. The park offers various attractions within its fenced boundaries and provides accessible restrooms. Ample shade and seating areas are available for relaxation.
Great fenced in playground! Trees for shade, shops within walking distance. Cute town. Great space for all ages. Music to play!. Lots of picnic tables and seating around the fence.

Great for kids who love to climb and are high energy. Local history featured in the park and the design of the small water pad area. FULLY GATED
Alaina C — Google review
I love that this park is FULLY fenced in with only one gate!! The gate is not something that would be easy for a child to open, which is great!! You can see them no matter where you sit. The grandbabies loved it and we will definitely take them back!!

My wife and I took two of our grandkids to this local park in downtown Hickory, NC. It's located in the heart of downtown near Union Square. Lowes Foods City Park features playground equipment, an interactive water feature, art, education, music, local craftsmanship, park benches, and picnic tables. It's also right in the uptown area of Hickory and local shops, restaurants and other specialty shops are a short distance away. There is ample 3 hour public (and free) parking right beside the park. And a 5 minute walk from the park will take you right into Union Square of downtown Hickory - very convenient!
Ron L — Google review
As a family of little ones, we love this park! It has nice variety of things for different age groups of children and includes a small little splash pad for the kids to cool off! There are benches that outline the park under trees for parents to get some shade. I also love that it’s downtown and is easily accessible to a wide variety of shops, dinning and ice cream.
Serina B — Google review
My family went on a walk after eating downtown in Hickory and stumbled upon this park by accident. Boy, were we surprised by how much stuff it had to do and how much fun our kids had. The whole area has rubber ground to cushion feet and falls, great climbing structures, tunnels, drums and keys to play music, a merry-go-round, seesaws, and a splash 💦 pad in the warmer months. It is gated and safe and even has 🚻 restrooms nextdoor for the 🏞️ park, along with ♿ handicap accessible structures and seating. It also has picnic tables to enjoy a meal or light snack.
Jordan B — Google review
This place is great and has soft rubber surface over most of the area kids play. There is a hill with "astro turf" that kids often roll down. It is completely fenced and has nice bathrooms with plumbing and water and electricity.
Rodney L — Google review
Great playground with shade in downtown. Bring your own cold water though, the fountains run warm sometimes! Easy parking everytime. A great park for kids of all ages!

Duke's Restaurant and Wine Bar in Hickory offers a classy yet welcoming ambiance, perfect for gatherings with family and friends. The restaurant features live jazz music, adding to the inviting atmosphere. Their menu boasts a wide variety of shareable delights such as Crab Artichoke Skillet and Escargot Empanada, along with unique options like bear, ox, rabbit, and crawfish.
Came here to listen to 2 price band. Guitar and harmonica player. They were very entertaining. Great voices, great harmony. Had crab cakes and Elk chops. Both absolutely delicious. Bartender Josh was outstanding. This is a very mice restaurant. A little pricey but definitely worth every penny.

She kept filling my water, even with a new cup but it kept having dust or towel particles in it. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be drinking lint, towel particles or dust. Anyway, I think that made her feel awkward the rest of the experience. Food was delicious and our waitress was a great waitress.
Cassidy D — Google review
I came here with a work group of nine people. We were early enough that we had the place to ourselves. Regardless, a nine top is hard to manage. I ordered a Spanish Mule which was a Moscow Mule with tequila rather than vodka. It was perfectly balanced. We had a plethora of appetizers around the table to include escargot, spinach and artichoke dip, triple dip, and more. All were fabulous. I ordered the small portion of the Elk Chop, medium rare which came with a salad, sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts. Everything was perfect! I couldn't even finish the small. Then all our meals came with a dessert spoon - tres leches which was pretty acceptable this far north!
Jeri T — Google review
Menu has many fantastic options with lots of variety for all tastes. A good section of specials as well. Staff was attentive and friendly and worked a last minute reservation in. We got the roasted lamb chops and the portions were hearty. Highly recommend!
Christian S — Google review
Duke's is the favorite date night spot of my wife and me. We love the food and often find ourselves drawn there for the specials they have going. The staff are always on top of things and willing to fix any issues that might arise during the meal. Last night the air conditioning was out when we went. The entertainment (which that night was a lovely pianist/singer) and staff were obviously struggling due to the discomfort of the temperature. I have to say that I found everyone's dedication to providing their customers a fine experience despite the heat admirable. The price point can be a little steep, but not really given the quality of food and service provided. If you're looking for a spot to spend a lovely evening out look no further. Even on their worst nights it's a top notch meal.
William V — Google review
Dukes is a cool place with a nice atmosphere although entry to the restaurant is like sneaking in someone’s back door. It has formal decor with low lighting and a mix of nice accents and old building bones. We went for the brunch on Sunday so we weren’t sure what to expect. They had a fixed menu of about 6 dishes. Some of which they didn’t actually have. I had the steak and egg which came with fruit (mostly melons) and a biscuit. The bacon wrapped steak was done well and all tasted good. My wife had the chicken and waffles and they are the super sugary waffles that don’t go well with the dish. The waiter was new but tried hard. The old fashioned I ordered was super sugary as well. Overall nice but nothing to brag about. I may go back some time for dinner to see what their normal is. We were one of two tables Sunday at 12:30.
Jim H — Google review
The restaurant was nice and the staff was friendly. The food however was awful. My fillet was inedible. My friend felt the same way about her fillet. Both had a very strange flavor. My wife had fish and it was awful too. We had six entrees all together and they were all bad. When our server cleared the table almost every plate was still full. When I was a server I certainly would have asked why no one ate any of their food. I would never return to Dukes. I paid over $100 dollars for the worst steak I’ve ever had. Two of the people in our party actually got sick after dinner.

Sandwich shop
Fast food restaurant
If you're on the hunt for a delicious sub experience, look no further than Sub Station II! This charming chain sandwich shop specializes in hearty subs inspired by Northeast flavors, offering both hot and cold options that are sure to satisfy your cravings. The sandwiches here are not only larger but also bursting with flavor compared to typical fast-food chains.
Sub Station II is hands-down my go-to spot for subs. Their sandwiches are way bigger and far more flavorful than anything you’ll find at Subway or Jimmy John’s. The value is incredible—you get way more food for your money without sacrificing quality. My personal favorite is the Italian #13. It’s loaded with perfectly sliced meats, fresh veggies, and just the right amount of dressing—all stacked high on soft, fresh bread. Every bite is packed with flavor, and it always hits the spot. On top of that, the staff is super friendly and makes you feel genuinely appreciated as a customer. Great food, great prices, and great people—Sub Station II really does it right.
Rick S — Google review
I like how friendly the people are, excellent customer service. He made you feel at home. This is different than Subway, you have any kind of sub you would like. More than they have as choices. I mean anything. I definitely think it is worth checking out.
Janet L — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stopped by Sub Station II and grabbed a large wheat Club “all the way” with mustard, mayo, and banana peppers ... and it did not disappoint! The bread was fresh, the meat and cheese were stacked perfectly, and the combo of mustard, mayo, and banana peppers gave it the perfect tangy kick. Great flavor, friendly service, and quick turnaround. Definitely one of the better sub spots around!

My Wife and I drove a little over an hour to eat at this establishment, and we were not disappointed. We had not been to a Sub Station ll in many years ,both of the ones in our area had closed. It is still better than anything these new mega chain sandwich shops have to offer. We look forward to making this one of our regular restaurants.
Johnny S — Google review
First time customers and wanted to like it more than we did. The price was good. We waited quite a while for our sandwiches. They had more lettuce than anything else on them. Just average tasting sub in my opinion.
K B — Google review
I decided to try this place today after seeing several reviews wasnt my cup of tea. I ordered a turkey sub and the turkey tasted plain like water. I prefer subway. The subs are good proportion and a whole lotta lettuce. The cashier and staff were pleasant!
Natasha W — Google review
You know when some one says " The good Sub Station". This would be the one. You might live right next to the other one. But this is the one you drive to because it's so much better. Now there is a reason for that. There is a middle aged man working in the back with glasses a touch of gray in his hair and a snarl on his face as he slices and preps every thing. That guy is the reason. He is always on point and calls out mistakes, He is a rock star make no mistake Mr. Guy in the back yeah we see you and you are the man. Also if that guy is not there the food is bad for some reason. So that 5 stars only counts of you see that guy. If you don't, try another day.
Chris W — Google review
I love the subs and salads, but the staff is not friendly at all. Plus you can’t hear what they are saying behind the plexiglass, and then they act like they get mad if they have to repeat something. Not very good customer service at all.

Amos Howards Brew Pub is a cozy establishment in Cabarrus county that offers a relaxed atmosphere and serves delectable steaks, burgers, and local craft brews. The restaurant features comfortable booths and an old-fashioned jukebox for added charm. Visitors can enjoy a variety of taster beers to find the perfect pairing with their meal. What a fantastic place to grab a burger and a beer. And they feature local Hickory drafts. Have you ever eaten in a barrel? Nows your chance at Amos Howard's!

Was told we should give this place a try. I had heard of it but never came to mind when looking for something to eat. But I’m glad we did! Pretty neat interesting environment! The whiskey barrel booths are small but great idea for couples. Nice looking bar and had good music playing. The menu was large and had a vast amount of food to choose from. We had buffalo wings an appetizer, they were good. Your normal deep fried wings tossed in buffalo. I ordered the special which was Philly steak and fries. The sandwich was pretty good, kind of weird that it had yellow American cheese on it though. My fiancé had some kind of chicken grill sandwich with sour dough bread. Had 2 nice pieces of chicken, bacon American cheese again, and I think onions with mayo and such. She enjoyed it. I would like to visit again and try more things on the menu. Waitress took good care of us as well.

We had a party of six and they stuck us in 2 booths. A booth holds four people. We tried to call two days ahead to make a reservation they said they don't take reservation. Yet the sign says if you have a party of six or more to make a reservation! The only positive about this place was the cooks did awesome job and the bartender did awesome job! Everything else sucked!

Fun little restaurant that allows you to sit in wood barrels. The kids really enjoyed that. The waitress was great and attentive. We didn't have to ask for anything. I got the bayou burger and a side salad. The salad was so good and fresh. It was a large portion and about filled me up. The burger lacked something. It tasted ok. Would have been nice with some blue cheese crumbles or lettuce and onions. My husband got the BBQ plate. It was huge and tasted good. Kids got tenders and fries which were really good and appeared hand breaded in house.

This place is neat! I really enjoyed sitting in the barrel lol .. we both had burgers - dad had the mushroom swiss, he said it was fantastic. i had the bayou burger and it was awesome! Spicy and sweet. The burgers are so flavorful. They have rootbeer! Hard to find places that do. Service was great. Atmosphere is super cool. Will be back and highly recommend this place!

Hickory Furniture Mart is a must-visit, four-story marketplace in Hickory, North Carolina. It's a renowned destination for furniture enthusiasts and travelers passing through the area. The town has a rich history of craftsmanship dating back to the early 20th century, making it an ideal location for this one-stop shop with over 25 showrooms and outlets offering great deals. Visitors from nearby cities like Charlotte and Asheville often make the trip to explore its vast selection of furniture and decor.
I have worked with Cheryl Dockery at Hickory Furniture Mart several times over the past few years and she is always so responsive and helpful, any time I have reached out to make an inquiry….and there were plenty lol. As I prepared to move into my new home a few months ago and saw different items in local furniture stores, I would always reach out to her to see if it’s a company they work with and was so happy when she said yes to Palliser, for my new media room reclining sectional and king sized wingback bed for my guest room. Plus, she helped me round out the Caracole pieces to my bedroom set I purchased from her for my old home. Added bonus is that their prices have always been better than the local stores. My home is fully furnished now but I wouldn’t hesitate to reach out to Cheryl again if future needs arise and I’ll be sure to refer others to

Purchased a Heckman desk and credenza via Hickory in 2023. Paid a hefty delivery and installation charge but it went well. They had to return to install a part and they did. Last month, while opening a drawer in the desk, I heard metal hitting my office floor. Looking under my desk I saw two pieces of a drawer slide assembly laying on the floor and the drawer off square. I contacted Hickory to report the defect and request service. They responded with a 'too bad' attitude while waiving a one-year warranty at me. They asked for photos of the defective parts which I emailed to them. They offered to arrange the shipment of the replacement part. When two of the same part arrived, I called to inform them of the extra part. They did not ask for it to be returned to them, explaining that I should keep it 'in case you need the extra,' as if to prepare me for a second failure. They had promised to send installation instructions but never did. They supplied the name of a furniture repair tech, but made it clear that contacting him, arranging for and paying for the repair were on me. They washed their hands of the junk they had pedaled. They had their money and they were done. You should decide if this is the type of company you want to do business with. I have made my decision.

Perfect from start to finish! Two upholstered swivel rocking chairs. Great communications (constant updates), service, and delivery. Truly top professional service. I love the chairs (I had fabric shipped to them) and they turned out exactly as I had hoped. A++

One of the Must-see hotspots in Hickory! 4 floors of top-quality, handmade furniture. Really loved the Amish showroom. Save up your money - This is heirloom furniture to be passed on. And don't forget to try out the Great Taste restaurant for a delicious lunch! And the Graceful Geese Mercantile for smaller craft items.

Outdoor furniture set by Woodard. I’ve worked with Diane for years. She talks through all the wonderful options and details. She sends samples of fabrics, and call with updates. Everything is made just for you! At an amazing price. I don’t buy my high quality furniture anywhere else! Thank you Diane and Hickory Furniture!

Only worth it if you don’t have a particular piece in mind. Great prices, quality stuff but lacks in current pieces and modern style.

Please do not shop here unless you know every detail about this place. It appears to be an outlet type shopping experience. Every thing you purchase that has to be delivered is a separate charge and it’s rather expensive. They don’t tell you that when you are purchasing.. You are also at their beck and call to when the delivery will be made. it is not at your convenience. It is at their convenience. Please remember that I purchased a sofa who I thought was La-Z-Boy. It is La-Z-Boy, but it is not by La-Z-Boy themselves so you do not get the same standard of care or consideration that you would if you went to a La-Z-Boy showroom itself. nothing is returnable or refunded absolutely nothing. It doesn’t matter. If it ends up being defective, it is not returnable. Please make note of that the gentleman I dealt with purchasing my sofa when I’ve had to call and ask him or email him questions. He was very curt and rude about any questions I had. we spent thousands and thousands of dollars there only to find out it was a place we never want to go to again. All the little hidden costs all the fine print about no returns no refunds no matter what would not happen on the outside in legitimate places, but it happens here please beware

Great store with beautiful furniture and the biggest selection I have ever seen. Was first waited on by Tamara who is an amazing salesperson in the outlet department. I didnt find the chair I wanted in her outlet department and she walked me over to another department where I was waited on by Betty Jo. Tamara is incredibly helpful and honest and wonderful. Betty Jo was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and courteous as well . Kudos to these two incredible sales people.

Dog park
Nestled in Hickory, Fairbrook Optimist Dog Park stands out as the largest off-leash dog park within a 30-mile radius, making it a beloved spot for local dog owners. This spacious park has been thoughtfully designed with separate fenced areas for both large and small dogs, ensuring that every pup can play safely without any worries. The amenities are impressive: from obstacle courses to pet stations and water fountains, your furry friend will have plenty of opportunities to explore and enjoy themselves.
What an amazing and LARGE dog park, close to I-40! They converted an old baseball field into a very large area for large dogs and another smaller area for smaller dogs. This is one of the nicest and definitely the biggest of the dog parks I have seen. Buster loved it, and I did too. The park has several shaded seating areas and indoor bathrooms for humans. Great place, I highly recommend visiting.
Tom S — Google review
A repurposed baseball field serves as a great spot for dogs! A large dog space is separated from a small dog area. Dog water fountains in each area. Shelters and benches for adults, jumps and tunnels for the dogs. This is a well kept park and a nice spot to bring your pup for a visit with other locals.
Dan R — Google review
It is a hot June day out here at the dog park, we are spending most of our time under the shelters. Nice well kept park. Water fountain for the pups, and some equipment. Worth the stop. Looks like it was a baseball field at one time. Perfect reuse for a field. There were some homeless people fighting at the bathrooms, but they kept to themselves.
David H — Google review
Great place to bring your dog. My only real complaint is all the holes around the park. Yes, I understand dogs will be dogs, but someone should really swing by occasionally and fill some of them in, at least around the entrance. The other day, my girlfriend actually twisted her ankle about 10 steps in due to one of said holes. Other than that, wonderful place.
Jered W — Google review
Nice repurposing of a baseball field. Plenty of room for my dogs to run and play with the two other dogs that were at the park. The water stations and obstacles were great features to keep dogs hydrated and entertained.
Jen P — Google review
Nice park with section for big dogs and a different one for small dogs. My dogs are big and don't blend well with small dogs. This is a must have feature for us to be able to bring our girls. They have poop bags and trash cans on site. There is a covered area in the middle of the park that is covered with benches. Lastly, and most impressive is the water bowls that allow for fresh cool water every time and no build up for fungus and mosquitoes. My dogs enjoy themselves every time we go.
Donald I — Google review
My pups and I just recently found this place and we LOVE it. It’s very clean and maintained. We live that there is a big dog park for dogs over 30 lbs and a little dog park for dogs under 30lbs. We have been going multiple times a week now and we have a blast!
Maria K — Google review
This dog park is pretty nice, I really liked that it has a separate spit for small and large dogs. Being that it was our first time taking our young puppy to a dog park it was nice to visit a free one, but also nice that he could hang out in the area for small dogs and not be intimidated by the large dogs on the other side. It was very muddy, as should be expected after lots of rain, but I would advise wearing shoes you don't mind getting dirty.

Blowing Rock Draft House & Brewery is a relaxed eatery that serves up classic American cuisine and their own signature beers, all nestled within an industrial setting. The venue boasts stunning views of the brewery and offers visitors a unique dining experience with plenty of character. Additionally, Blowing Rock Draft House & Brewery ensures minimal word repetitions in its paraphrasing process to provide concise yet comprehensive descriptions of what it has on offer.
I have been to this place twice the service and food is always excellent. They put a unique Twist on the foods that they serve. They also have a y selection of craft beers on tap and in cans. Definitely recommend trying the pizza, tacos, and onion rings. Heck, try it all they have a great menu.

Great old building for the location, huge covered outdoor area. Large selection of beers brewed on site, didn't eat but they have food and a full bar. Bartender was awesome. Revisited and had the pizza in 2/5/23 it was awesome.
Joel M — Google review
Update 2/2020: service and menu and have gotten better. Had a great experience at Blowing Rock. Since they changed ownership the menu was condensed but it still offers enough option to satisfy anyone's appetite. I had the bison burger that was grilled to excellence. I asked for medium and it was cooked to medium. The sauce had a nice blend of spices, and the grilled onions were sauteed. I've been eating here semi frequently over the past 3 years and it gets better. They've really focused on quality menu items that mash up ingredients. There are some traditional menu items for those, and they have some fun menu items to be creative. The bison burger was off the charts. It was ground (I like medium or slightly less) and it was executed perfectly. The grilled onion had that nice charred taste with the sweet/savory bbq sauce and topped with thick slices of bacon. Just look at the spinach artichoke dip. Thick, chunky peices with creamy sauce. The pita chips where slightly crispy and soft and fluffy on the inside. And the bison pizza. Are you kidding me? Incredible. Pretzel sticks were eaten in a flash. Service was excellent. We look forward to going back.

Food was very good. Take was rocky so with every nudge drinks would spill. Ordered the brussel sprouts and a Bison pizza. Service was good, Savanah was attentive and pleasant!! We would go back for sure!! The only thing stopping it being 5 star was how loud it was inside. Felt like we had to lean in and yell to each other. Need some smaller 2 top tables. We would of sat outside if it wasn't so breezy!!
Sherrie C — Google review
2nd time eating here, first time was decent. Very small menu, $16 for a burger in hickory should be GREAT, it was subpar, not much flavor, small and asked for medium rare, both our burgers were very well done. Couldn't even get pickles added. You can get a MUCH better burger at Hickory Station/Granite Falls brewery for cheaper. Service was good, and had a good beer selection, but the price and food quality is not worth near the price.
Elijah N — Google review
Stopped for a drink and to use the wifi for work. We had our dog with us. They were very nice and the location is cool. We sat in the beer garden area where they had a bunch of heaters outside. Dogs are not allowed inside because they serve food. But that wasn't a problem. They brought our dog a bowl of water. The beer was good. The staff was very nice! We would go again.
Adam S — Google review
I don’t really leave reviews often but this was bad. Didn’t get my food for over an hour and the burger I got was almost completely raw. Got another burger about a half hour later. They didn’t charge me for the burger or the beer but honestly it didn’t matter. Just wanting to warn anyone who goes here to check your food before taking a bite. The food is fine if it’s cooked
Josh L — Google review
What a gem of a brewery. Blowing Rock has really stepped their game up of late and It’s resulted in a premier destination for NC beer. Stopped by on a road trip and very glad we did. Beer was on point, especially their Scotch Ale. Whether you like your craft beer light, dark or hoppy, Blowing Rock will have something you like.

Farmers Markets
Hickory Farmers Market offers a delightful blend of old-fashioned charm and modern enjoyment, creating a welcoming environment for visitors. It's a great place to meet new people, connect with local farmers, enjoy live music, and savor dishes prepared by talented chefs using fresh produce from nearby farms. The market guarantees an impressive selection of harvest goods, meats, honey, dairy products, baked treats, marinades, pickles and more.
Every Saturday and every Wednesday they have the farmer's market and this lemonade is out of this world. It's no comparison to no one else. It's so delicious It's sweet, but it's not too sweet and it's not tangy. And they also have hot tea too, which is delicious

First time at the Hickory Farmer’s Market. It’s lovely! I like how it’s set up nearby the railroad tracks, the Old Hickory Station & the downtown shops. So convenient! Many vendors from sweets to meats, to honey & goat cheese. My favorite part are the flowers and plants, the colors of the fruits & veggies are a big part of my photography for reviews. I also met the nicest co-owners of Plant Based Boss & sampled a tasty lavender smoothie, just delicious! They are opening a restaurant in Hickory in August. Can’t wait to try their food. I also got a taste of a gluten-free treat from Baking Creations by Dana. She gave me a rosemary bagel, made with almond flour. It tasted very fresh! I’ve attached pics from my visit to this small but sweet farmer’s market. Check them out on Saturdays. Enjoy!

I enjoyed visiting the Hickory Farmers Market. Wonderful selection of produce. It was special to have live music. Was hoping to see more grab and go foods so you can eat there while you shop. Reasonable prices. Friendly staff at the entrance tent. Parking is available but a little hectic. It's nice that they have a bathroom as some farmers markets do not. There was a long line for the fresh baked goods...must be good stuff! You just have to be careful what roads you take in the area to get there. Some streets lead to run down neighborhoods. Stay on the main streets. Lots of great shops downtown by the farmers market! I enjoyed my fresh peaches! It's great that the farmer's market is shaded by the "sails"! Very good vibe.
Karen G — Google review
Wednesday is a great day to go. About 2/3 the number of vendors and 75% less shoppers! No trouble getting what we wanted. Tomatoes, white cucumbers, peaches and flowers! Flower bunch was so big we had to divide them. Photos don’t do true justice!

They have fresh bread, meats, vegetables, sweets, and coffee. They even have fresh goat cheese. Very kid friendly and stress free. There is nothing like in the supermarket. This is my favorite place to go.

Restaurant
Applebee's Grill + Bar is a full-service chain restaurant that offers hearty American cuisine in a casual environment. Although there was some dissatisfaction with the host who lacked enthusiasm and did not provide a children's menu, the overall experience was positive. The wait staff proved to be professional, friendly, and highly accommodating. The food served was exactly as ordered, and one particular waitress even went out of her way to pack an ice cream order with ice for the journey home.
Third time here and everytime I had a good experience! Those ribs are delicious. The Piña Colada was nice. The place was clean and polite staff.
Felix J — Google review
As per usual.. Applebee's seems to constantly miss the mark on the food. Regardless of where I travel.. I always hope for the best, But rarely do they manage to figure out a steak.. The picture is not showing the rawness of the steak itself. Then it literally sat at the bar for 10 min. Before anyone asks me.. even though I had pushed it far away.. And it was not busy.. o well!!! Cheesesticks were good though..
Jeffrey W — Google review
The waiter was great until I found some kind of wax paper looking stuff inside of my burger when I cut into it. Once I finally was able to get him to the table he seemed to act like it was something I had done. I showed him what came out of the burger and it still had cheese cooked onto it but he says well that looks like a napkin. I said no I don't think so, it came out of the middle of the burger and it doesn't tear easily. So he asks if I just want him to take the burger off or bring me something else. Stupid question considering I came to eat and didn't get to do that with the first burger. So I tell him to bring another burger and he makes a joke about this one not having plastic in it. I figured a manager may come by to talk to me about it or at the very least he would offer to take the burger off since I found something inedible in my food. But no, no manager came by, he never offered any kind of rectification other than bringing me another burger which I couldn't even enjoy because I was worried that I could have the same issue. Any other time in my life if I've had an issue with food a manager has come by or they offer some kind of discount, coupon or something. It's not about getting free food, it's about the complete lack of care he showed. I don't think I'll be returning to Applebees anytime soon.
Whitney S — Google review
It had been a while since we were here. I got the lime chicken which was very good! The chicken was very tender had a great taste rice and pico de gallo was also good. My husbands riblets weren't as good tho tasted freezer burnt.. probably would just go with the ribs instead but fries were hot and fresh. Inside was clean but could use some new upholstery on some of the bench seats. The waitress was awesome! Very knowledgeable and friendly. Will go back again.

Jessica B was our waitress. She took good care of us. We ordered the bourbon street steak and a mushroom Swiss burger. The food was prepared as we had ordered. It didn't take that long for our food to come out. However, they wasn't that busy. The sweet tea and food was both yummy. Even the manager came by and ask us about our food. I appreciate that.
Lettie C — Google review
I don’t usually leave bad reviews, but my experience at this Applebee’s was disappointing. Our waitress never once checked on us after taking our order, and we were left waiting an unusually long time for our food and drinks. When we did try to get her attention, she came across as short and dismissive instead of helpful. The lack of basic courtesy and attentiveness really soured the meal. Definitely not the level of service I would expect.

Love these little family owned and operated Mexican restaurants. I personally love the quesadillas, particularly the carnitas and also the shrimp quesadillas. My wife always gets the quesadilla carnitas. Daughter got the chipotle chicken tacos which she very much enjoyed. They also have some Mexican brews that you won't find anywhere else except specialty beer suppliers. The chips are homemade and the salsa and guacamole are muey bueno as well. Can't wait to go back again, I'm getting hungry! The parking lot is tiny so if your driving a huge mega size vehicle you won't fit.

We stopped in Hickory for a quick dinner and this place hit the spot! There is also a storefront inside the restaurant which was a nice touch. The food was delicious and the service was great! Our food came out in about 10-15 minutes which was not long at all. The green sauce on the enchiladas was slightly spicy but nothing too crazy. I highly recommend coming here!

Best Mexican food in town! We've gotten take out from Isabella's several times but this was our first time eating in. The dining area is definitely eclectic but our group was more than comfortable - especially once the food arrived. We tried so many things: tacos, chimichangas, taco salad, quesedillas, chips guacamole, pico with mango, queso, horchata, and margaritas. Delicious all around. Everyone left very happy with full bellies!

What a stunning and authentic restaurant and store. Absolutely takes your breath away as soon as you step in. Real Mexican groceries and items takes me back to being Mexico. The only thing I didn’t like is you had to scan a QR code and I am so over QR codes I really would like to sit down with an actual menu and read it and take my time deciding so it did feel a little rushed to order because other people were coming in.
Shana C — Google review
I’m from Charlotte NC and found this gem on an unexpected trip to Hickory. First you walk inside a super cool store with a bunch of handmade unique authentic items and then you walk through a beautifully decorated restaurant with lots of plants. When you get your order, it will be absolutely delicious and super fresh. I got the fish tacos, and the tortillas were amazing, the fish was cooked perfectly, and it was the best chipotle sauce I’ve ever had !! If you get the chance, you should definitely check it out!

Bojangles is a beloved fast-food chain that brings the flavors of the South to your plate, specializing in mouthwatering fried chicken and fluffy biscuits. With sweet tea that perfectly complements your meal, Bojangles has solidified its place as a go-to spot for comfort food lovers seeking that authentic Southern taste!
Chicken and biscuits are amazing. The sides are meh, but I go there for the chicken and biscuits lol. Service was really friendly and candid, in a very good way. The sides make me want to lower it to a 4-star, but the chicken, biscuits, and sweet tea tell me that I know damn well it's gonna be my go-to chicken, so they deserve the 5 star frfr.

The nerve to charge 3.22 for half a cup of cold Mac is outrageous.. Ordered in the drive through @12:40pm, 6/19/15. Y’all can’t tell me food wasn’t hot for lunch.
Elizabeth R — Google review
We ordered the 20 piece family dinner tonight. Drove home with it only to find ALL the chicken was burnt. The meat was edible but anything crispy was super salty and burned. With 12 people eating we would never have chicken left over and this picture is what's left and the other pic is a small portion of inedible crust. Also the fries were super cold and there was zero juice in the pinto beans and the biscuits were hard and dry. Very disappointing for $55. I live in Mississippi now and getting Bojangles is a big treat for me. Big fail....

They stop cooking food two hours before close so what they have left is all u can get. I literally came for a bunch of food for the family and they had none of it. Macaroni, beans and rice, breast, etc etc. offered me fries several times though I already told them I wanted a real veggie of some sort. No pies. I’m just over this one. They really gotta do better. Waited for ever to have them cook it then they come out asking can they get me something else instead. 20 mins later. I was finally offered to wait longer for breasts. I can’t afford to lose the biggest piece of chicken and feed my and a thirteen year old, growing, young man.

Nestled in the heart of Hickory, North Carolina, Village Inn Pizza Viewmont is a beloved family-friendly eatery that serves up classic American comfort food alongside delicious pizza. This regional chain prides itself on offering a relaxed atmosphere where families can gather and enjoy hearty meals without breaking the bank. The menu features homestyle favorites like chicken-fried steak and pot pie, but it’s the pizza that truly shines here.
Great place if you want pizza and salad for a good price. Don’t come in expecting super high quality because it’s not priced that way. But is a great choice and a local favorite. And don’t sleep on the wings!
Brett S — Google review
The Lackey Family should be ashamed to allow this store to carry the Village Inn name. The pizza was awful. I like thin crust but this was ridiculous and I know having worked for Village Inn that buffet pizzas have less ingredients than a pizza ordered for the table or takeout but please at least enough ingredients that you are aware of what you are eating and one pizza in 35 minutes is a little chintzy. Finally, kudos to the young man doing the salad bar, he was the only person working. Would not recommend to anyone.
Tommy P — Google review
Village in on 127 viewmont Hickory was terrible! Usually is really great! The salad bar was a mess, food ALL IN FLOORS..NO PIZZAS & salad dressing was watered down. Just made my husband nausea from seeing ALL the food in floors!! Wow use to be SO GOOD. we ate one bowl salad& left.NO fresh pizzas out. Pizza that was out was DRY/ old Looking. Not impressed! Ya'll do better!

Great pizza and salad buffet. Ordered a chocolate chip pizza for my grandsons as their dessert. They made it quickly and it was included in the buffet price…
Bermyboy — Google review
There was no pizza on the buffet except for half of a dried out pepperoni. I asked if they could make a pepperoni and the response from the very rude cashier was there is pepperoni already out there. 20 minutes later they finally put a pepperoni out and the picture is what it looked like. Plus there was a lady spraying down the salad bar glass with cleaner with food sitting under it. I'm not sure you are supposed to spray cleaner over the food. I have always loved Village Inn , but if this is the best you can do then I'm done. Village Inn Viewmont.
Todd S — Google review
This was just average cold pizza, they did allow us to order a pizza of our choice for buffet. But the heat lamps do not keep pizza warm. They have a all you can eat buffet . With salad, spagetti, and a soup. Overall I like the one in Bethlehem better. Food is served hot and fresh there. With soft serve ice cream. The reply I got when saying pizza was cold at viewmi t location was we just put it out ??

2nd Review: we went again yesterday, and a simple word for this place is gross... The pizza was undercooked, the material is cheap, and the food tasted raw. No improvement. As for the service it's pretty much non-existent. The building is still cool though! I wanted this place to be the Pizza Planet, but it's in a church. I wanted the Pizza to be good but instead, we ate Cardboard with dollar tree tomato sauce. Service was to prompt, every plate we got they were didn't allow us to feel the fat kid feeling. No one goes to a buffet to feel skinny, and when you take away our plates we don't get to admire our bad choices. Also, the church theme only makes me pray to never come here again and eat there Sam's club salad bar.

Love this place. Been coming here since childhood. It’s always crowded and not a lot of parking. But if you can park, there will be a free table. Salad bar is amazing. Pizza is good to but not enough of it. Really nice people. It’s usually clean. I highly recommend this place. We will be back.
