Arenas & Stadiums
Bryant-Denny Stadium is the home stadium of the Crimson Tide football team at the University of Alabama. It is a well-maintained and impressive stadium that receives ample funding from alumni donations. Fans can be passionate and vocal but this is typical of any home team crowd. The atmosphere in the stadium is enjoyable, especially when watching the Million Dollar Band perform from great seats even in high up areas.
The Founders Suites at Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium offer the ultimate in gameday luxury. Each spacious, private suite accommodates seating for 30 guests and includes covered, open-air seats, bar-height seats and comfortable soft-seating along with a retractable window. Additionally, Founders Suite participants and their suite guests will have access to the Founders Club, a luxurious, premium club level featuring high-end decor, premium food and beverage and an expansive bar.

An exceptional place to watch a game but I dock them a star for lousy video board in game operations. They seldom replay any controversial play or penalty. It’s almost like they want the fans to sit on their hands and not get fired up. Better WiFi this year and the ice cold water stations located all around the stadium really help. Roll Tide!
Lee R — Google review
Had a great time watching Alabama beat Auburn. Great seats and view. Bring an empty water bottle so you dont have to pay 4 or 5 dollars for water. French fries are 12 dollars so you are way better off wearing before you hit the stands.

First time ever going to a Alabama game while at home.. Had a blast. I can't wait to go back again. Wish the beer was cheaper

I've been to ALOT of Football Stadiums Neilan,Death Valley and the Swamp. It may not be the most football oriented stadium I have ever visited in college football. It would be nice if the right person would read this and bump my 3 season tickets up a couple of years.
Jeremy W — Google review
The best stadium with the best gameday atmosphere in the SEC!! You simply MUST try a Denny Dog and/or a Conecuh Sausage dog! Dont forget the soft drink in the souveneir cup! They make great collectibles as well as very useful cups to take home and use. Concession prices are what you'd expect for pretty much any large event these days. There are plenty of concession stands on every level, and TVs above each so that you dont miss any of the game action while in line. Lines move relatively fast as the hot dogs and sausages are already made and you grab it at the counter before paying. If youre coming for the game, be sure to take in the Walk of Champions about an hour or so before the game. Line up along the front entrance walk early for a good spot to watch and cheer the team as they get off the busses and walk into the stadium. Afterward, be sure to visit the statues of all of the prior National Championship winning coaches before heading inside! Prior to the game, you can walk all the way down to field level and stand right behind the sidelines as the teams do warm ups. Overall an amazing fun experience for any college football fan! ROLL TIDE!!

I'm not Bama fan, but Vols for Life! I know I was in the enemies camp, but the experience of this stadium is AWESOME! THE atmosphere was electric!!
Bryan M — Google review
We had a great experience here, very well run! The shuttles ran efficiently, plenty of bathrooms and very walkable tail gate areas. The staff was friendly and helpful. Easy to get in and out of the stadium, plenty of signs!

Really nice exhibits taking you through Alabama football history. $5 to get in, and you can see it all in an hour or less ... depending on how much you read, of course. Great way to start game day!
Stephen M — Google review
I love this place. So much of it is memorable and the rest is interesting to read and see. The video and audio interaction is great. It's always on the do list each visit.
Jeremy K — Google review
University of Alabama football is a sports institution, and it has been made that way through a long tradition of winning that continues to this day. The man responsible for the school’s stellar reputation for winning is Paul Bryant. His years with the team, and the years of others who have coached the Crimson Tide for more than 130 years are on display at the Paul Bryant Museum. I visited the Paul Bryant Museum while attending parent orientation for incoming freshman. I was fully aware of Bryant and his tremendous success on the field, but I knew only a little bit about the specifics of his time at Alabama and the years before he became head coach at this school. A visit to the Paul Bryant Museum was exactly what I needed to educate myself on University of Alabama football and how it has shaped and influenced college football. This museum, while it is named after Paul Bryant and focuses on Paul Bryant, is really about the Alabama football team’s history as a whole. It steps you through the years of Bama football, starting way back in the 1800’s and continuing to the present day. The exhibits have much to read and learn and there are several noteworthy videos worth watching, to help you not just see but also hear about the people who played and coached at Alabama and helped make it the college football powerhouse that it is today. I learned much from visiting the Paul Bryant Museum, not just about Bryant, but also about other coaches and players. Although I am fully aware of Paul Bryant’s legacy, record number of college wins, etc, I’m not well- versed on Alabama football overall. I did not even know, for example, that NFL quarterback Ken Stabler played at Alabama under coach Bryant. I didn’t know about the event that earned Bryant his nickname, Bear. I learned all these things and more during my visit and I exited the doors with a significant increase in my Alabama football IQ. Alabama football has a fascinating past and the Paul Bryant Museum helps bring the memories back to life. Alabama football fans are certain to feel goosebumps as they tour this museum, but everyone who visits, even those with a marginal interest in the game, will come away feeling satisfied. It isn’t a very large museum and it can be visited in less than an hour. I wish it was bigger, and I would have liked to see even more exhibits, but this is still a good place to visit if you want to improve your knowledge of Alabama football and learn more about the people responsible for its rise to fame.

It costs a couple dollars to get in the door, but it’s worth it. There are some real relics in this building.

What an awesome place! If you love Alabama football and it's history, this is the place for you! Staff is nice, admission is cheap ($5 for adults) and we were able to take our time and enjoy the experience. Photos, articles, videos, and artifacts from the very beginning up until today, the life of the Alabama football program. The gift shop even had tiny red plastic elephants I plan to leave hidden all over my brother's house to remind him who is the best! (Sadly, he is a TN fan...😞)

We absolutely loved visiting this museum! It offered amazing views into the history of Alabama football and was a very family friendly space! And Olivia, the amazing lady who runs the gift shop, was wonderful!! We can't wait to visit again!

The University of Alabama

University
The University of Alabama, established in 1831, is a renowned research institution with a picturesque campus featuring historic buildings and a natural history museum. The campus is dotted with iconic spots like The Quad, Presidents Mansion, Bryant-Denny Stadium, and Denny Chimes, making it an ideal destination for photography enthusiasts. Nearby attractions include the lively downtown district and the largest outdoor theater in West Alabama, offering arts and entertainment.
Beautiful campus. Grounds and buildings well maintained. We went into several different halls and such. Very nice spaces. While I wish we had caught his name, a professor from the Engineering school stopped by our table at the Furg - realizing we were there for student orientation, he asked if we had any questions. He sure didn't have to, but really impressed me that he thought to spend a few minutes with us.

Awesome experience touring the University of Alabama with my daughter. Very beautiful campus and amazing academic/extracurricular programs for students to be a part and make impact. The place where legends are made.♥️🩶🤍

I have been to this campus twice now! I stayed at the on-campus hotel both times and the amenities were great. I also really appreciated all the signage on the campus. I'm a career readiness speaker and when I travel somewhere, I often don't know where to go. This campus has AWESOME signage!
Nicki J — Google review
Ah yes, the University of Alabama—that other school in the South where houndstooth and haphazard tailgating reign supreme, and where the library, I hear, is open most days. I had the distinct experience of visiting the campus once, though admittedly not for academic collaboration—more out of morbid curiosity and a friend’s ill-advised wedding. The campus is… fine. Expansive, certainly. Brick buildings that aspire to grandeur but somehow feel like they were designed by a committee of booster club donors. The quad is pleasant enough if one doesn’t mind the ever-present undercurrent of grill smoke and frat rock echoing from all directions. Academically, well—how to put this gently? The institution does try. I’m told they’ve made great strides in "business" and “communications,” which I suppose are respectable pursuits for those who find critical thought a touch exhausting. The honors college appears earnest, though one can only hang so many banners proclaiming “rising excellence” before one begins to wonder if the elevator ever reaches the top floor. Now, the students… bless them. Spirited, certainly. Proud to the point of delusion. One must admire their unwavering confidence—particularly those draped in crimson and white who treat SEC football victories as intellectual validation. I did attempt a conversation about Faulkner once with a young man in a “Roll Tide” tank top. It did not go well. As for the faculty, I’m sure there are pockets of brilliance hiding in the humanities department—or at least in whatever is left of it after the latest budget cut to make way for a new athletic facility. In conclusion, the University of Alabama is, I suppose, a suitable option for those who value tradition, spirited camaraderie, and the occasional economics lecture between football games. If one is seeking rigorous intellectual debate, a well-funded research environment, and classmates who can name more than one modernist author—well, Nashville might have been a wiser choice. But to each their own.
Owensfamilyarvada — Google review
Absolutely appalled by the history tied to this institution. What happened with the syphilis experiments conducted in Alabama was one of the most inhumane, unethical acts ever done under the name of “research.” Human lives were treated as disposable, and the suffering of innocent people was ignored for decades. It’s shameful that such a tragedy was ever associated with a place of learning. A university should stand for truth, compassion, and ethics — not exploitation. The fact that this even happened is horrifying. Institutions involved in such acts should have been held fully accountable and permanently shut down.
Andre H — Google review
There is such a rich history here, this is such a beautiful campus. The food is amazing, they also have different varieties for everybody. I have absolutely fallen in LOVE with UA! Nothing feels better than feeling loved the minute you walk onto a campus. As always Roll Tide!

Have loved this place for many years. Time it right to see the gorgeous sunset. They recently added a little additional trail towards the East. Bathrooms are located in the gazebo near the playground and the businesses down the path a ways. Great for walking, running, and putting down a blanket or choosing a bench and hanging out. My favorite place to find some zen in Tuscaloosa.

Farmers Markets
Tuscaloosa River Market is a local gem located beside the Black Warrior River, offering a variety of goods from local farmers and artisans. This long-standing tradition hosts the Tuscaloosa Farmers Market every Saturday, showcasing fresh produce, flowers, and more. The market also serves as an event space and features handmade crafts alongside locally sourced fruits, vegetables, meats, and baked goods. Visitors can enjoy the scenic location while supporting the community through their purchases.
I’m here for a work conference awards night and this is a very nice venue for this event. Large and roomy, lovely 💐view over the river. Convenient location with two entrances and exits. The parking is a little tight but workable. There is a biking/walking path between the building and the river… if it’s a long event, it’s the opportunity to take a walk. And it’s very scenic for picture taking.

We went for the Dwarfinator Wrestling experience. Easy parking. Bathroom facilities were kind of hard to access with the way the event was laid out. But that problem. Was dwarfed by the magnitude of the event I witnessed.

This was the perfect venue for my wedding reception! We opened up the garage doors and let the breeze blow in off the river as we danced the night away! Plenty of room for multiple guests. Gorgeous scenery!

The Tuscaloosa River Market is more than a place—it’s a rhythm. A breath of fresh air along the Black Warrior River where Saturdays begin with intention and end with connection. From local honey and heirloom tomatoes to handmade soaps and wildflower bouquets, each vendor brings a piece of Alabama soil, soul, and story. I’ve walked these aisles with my son, coffee in hand, sunlight dancing off the water—grateful for the pause, the pace, the presence this space offers. It’s the kind of place where time slows down, neighbors greet one another, and your senses remember what real feels like. A sanctuary of slowness in a world that rushes. A rooted space. A reflective joy. We’ll be back, again and again.

To-go beer—need I say more? This place nailed it with solid pizza, cut square-style for maximum snackability. Pro tip: go for the sweet honey pepperoni—it’s a game changer. Pair that with a crisp blonde beer, and you’ve got a winning combo. The bartender? Absolute MVP. Even with a packed house for the Auburn vs. Alabama game, they kept the drinks flowing and the vibes if you’re an Alabama fan are the best. Whether you’re here for the beer, the pizza, or just the chaos of a rivalry game, this spot delivers.

Our favorite restaurant when we visit Tuscaloosa! The pizza is a sooo good and the salads are huge! We had a chicken bacon ranch pizza and a garden salad. FIVE Tuscaloosa is a trendy gastropub located in downtown Tuscaloosa, known for its vintage industrial-chic ambiance and sidewalk seating. Despite its name, the restaurant's limited menu offerings are carefully curated to ensure high quality and satisfaction. The establishment offers five snacks, entrees, cocktails, standard beers, Southern beers, red wines, and white wines along with nightly specials. FIVE Bar is particularly popular among college students and tends to get crowded quickly.
I wanted a delicious burger while visiting the area and I got it! I sat outside, ordered the cheeseburger, and it was everything I needed for a delicious dinner. It did take a few minutes for a server to greet me after the host sat me, but I was in no rush and was enjoying sitting on the patio. I'm excited to go back and try something new, even though it will be hard to not want to order this burger again!

Everything about this place is awesome! The food exceeded my expectations! For the price you’re not gonna do any better! I would call this place a gem but everybody knows about it. Lol. Super friendly Staff; beautiful downtown location. If I could give the food six out of five stars I would. It really does stand out in Tuscaloosa.

FIVE in Tuscaloosa is a refreshing take on upscale casual dining with a Southern soul. True to its name, the menu is beautifully streamlined—five appetizers, five entrees, five wines, five cocktails—keeping things simple but far from ordinary. The atmosphere hits that perfect balance between trendy and cozy, with exposed brick, ambient lighting, and live music often setting the tone for an inviting night out. Whether you’re seated inside or enjoying the vibe from their outdoor patio, the service is attentive without being overbearing. Favorites from the menu? The white chicken chili is rich, warm, and full of flavor—a crowd favorite for good reason. The shrimp & grits delivers big with creamy texture and bold seasoning, while the Filet is tender, perfectly cooked, and beautifully plated. Their FIVE Burger is a comfort food home run with gourmet flair. Cocktail-wise, the bar does not disappoint. The FIVE Mule and the House Old Fashioned are excellent, and the wine list—though short—is well-curated. In a city filled with college-town staples, FIVE stands out as a spot that feels a bit more elevated, yet still approachable. It’s ideal for date night, catching up with friends, or just treating yourself to a really good meal. Rating: 4.7/5 Refined, flavorful, and always consistent—FIVE proves less is more.

Happened to pop in on a Sunday afternoon and had the best experience. Place was full with high energy. Ordered the breakfast burger which was perfection. None of the flavors overwhelming. Burger was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Icing on the cake was an incredible musician playing live music on the saxophone (and other wind instruments). It was just such a great experience. The SEC Champ breakfast is a standout—hearty, delicious, and the perfect way to start your day. With generous portions and that home-cooked Southern flavor, it’s easy to see why it’s a favorite. Whether you’re gearing up for game day or just looking for a great meal, Rama Jama’s delivers every time. Roll Tide!

This is a hallmark. If you come to T Town this is a must eat must see. Absolutely amazing memorabilia the food and atmosphere is off the chain. So many people come there it's that amazing and delicious.

Kinda nostalgic to be in the shadow of Bryant Denny. We had breakfast food for brunch which is always a plus. The food was decent, but nothing to write home about. The staff was great and the memorabilia was cool. Probably really cool on game days.

This is the place to go if you're a BAMA fan as you could spend hours here looking at all the memorabilia. Food was very good, with my wife raving about the Fried Green Tomato sandwich and the Peach Pie which she said was even better than the one at The Varsity in Atlanta. Just be sure to get there early for a parking spot and a seat!

One of the favorites among customers are the lemon blueberry goat cheese pancakes, which can be made gluten-free. The cafe also offers a Mardi Gras Omelette with Louisiana crawfish and fresh gulf shrimp, as well as sweet options like Cinnamon Roll French Toast and Bourbon Street Pancakes.
Great location on the riverwalk. Servers friendly and attentive. Food was good with a nice menu of options. Table seating and first come counter seating. You can join the wait line through the app or the google link (a plus).

What a cute place. We had heard good things and were moving our daughter into school so we decided to try it for breakfast. The vibe is cool. They told us it was a 20-30 min wait so we were going to walk the river walk but they texted us 5 min later to seat us. They offer free beignets while you are waiting for your food and they were delicious. They came with a yummy dipping sauce. I ordered biscuits and gravy and it was good. I’m not sure what I was expecting but I thought it would be better which is why I gave 4 stars. Too much pepper for my liking. My husband and daughter got broken egg biscuit sandwiches. They said they were good. The fried potatoes were really good. Not undercooked like a lot of places and I liked that. I could have eaten my weight in beignets. Location is great. Close to campus. Right on the river walk. Indoor and outdoor dining. Plenty of parking. We will def go back.

We stopped by first time, because of the good reviews, but it was big disappointment. Restaurant location is in very nice place, but food and service is not. Server smelled like he never changed his t-shirt. We noticed that some servers were lazy to do their job.

We ordered food to go. The shrimp and grits were such a let down. Plain white grits with no flavor with melted cheese on top. The shrimp were just frozen salad shrimp. This is my favorite dish and sadly this was one of the worst versions I’ve ever had. The sauce wasn’t bad and the focaccia that came with it was good.

Muffins were stale. French toast was only lightly toasted on one side and mushy on the other side. 4.79 for a coke or tea!!! Potatoes were fried in old grease. This is a Monday ,9:00 very slow day no excuses.

Southern restaurant (US)
River is a stylish bistro located along the Tuscaloosa Riverwalk, offering a scenic view of the Black Warrior River. The restaurant serves up Southern plates and local beer in a rustic setting, making it an ideal spot for both fancy-casual nights out and leisurely weekend brunches.
Even on a Thursday night, this place was pretty busy. The place is gorgeous and the food was excellent. First time I’ve ever had an elevated fried chicken, southern style cooking plate. It was delicious. And the coffee infused old-fashioned whiskey mixed drink was also a delight. The peanut butter pie was good, but maybe my least favorite thing I got tonight. I’m not much of a peanut butter person to begin with so it was a stretch from the start. The noise level in this place seemed a little high for its aesthetics and theme. Either way, a very nice place to eat, and the prices were reasonable for the food that you order. My only grip is that the men’s bathroom is basically two single bathrooms. With the amount of people in the place, they could use an upgrade to a bigger bathroom

River Restaurant is the kind of place that just gets it right from the moment you walk in. The space itself is warm and inviting, with a big pizza oven at the front of the dining room looked amazing. This place also had the perfect layout for an open kitchen. Sitting out on the porch is highly recommended—you get a great view overlooking the river, which really adds to the experience. We sat out here during sunset and it was absolutely outstanding. The food was excellent across the board. The fried okra came out perfectly crispy and seasoned, the shrimp and grits were rich and flavorful without being too heavy, and the mushroom tacos were a standout—something you don’t see everywhere and worth ordering. The menu feels thoughtful, with enough variety to make you want to come back and try more. On top of that, the beer selection was outstanding, which is always a win. Service was excellent too—Shelby took great care of us and made sure everything flowed smoothly without being overbearing. Between the setting, the food, and the atmosphere, River Restaurant is an easy place to recommend whether you’re coming for a casual lunch, a nice dinner, or just drinks and appetizers on the porch

Yet another example of you get what you pay for.... And in this case, it's worth every dollar. Granted, it's a lot of dollars, but the chefs are amazing, presentation is exquisite, and the flavor layers are exceptional. Definitely a great place to celebrate a special occasion like we did and it's known already for being one of the best destinations around the university for fine dining. You won't be disappointed. Just expect to be impressed and going knowing that you're going to be investing in really great flavors and pallets as well as incredible servers and a beautiful atmosphere.... Well done all around.

Wednesday $5 Happy Hour on selected drinks. Enjoyed the outside seating. Tried the following appetizers/shareable’s. Pork Skins and dip. Skins were great. Meat board perfect. Smoked Salmon patties. Heavy on the smoke but overall good. Bbq steak flatbread with pickles was more like a bbq pork but delicious. Group of four each ordered appetizer and had the special happy hour cocktails. Service was excellent.

Great restaurant overlooking the river.Shelby, who served our delicious wine and food was very hospitable. We visited during a game weekend (Wisconsin vs Alabama) so it was a very busy time. The restaurant worked as a team. What I mean by this is that people from the kitchen and bar dropped off food or drinks. It was great to see the teamwork and camaraderie. 🫶

A must try! This is one of our favorite restaurants in Tuscaloosa. My husband is very critical of restaurant steaks, he has consistently said that this is one of the beat steaks he has ever eaten out. Their specials are always amazing. This past visit we had the mussels (because you cant go and not get them), oysters Rockefeller the , halibut special, the wagyu filet with garlic mash potatoes and local vegetables, The ribeye with garlic mashed potatoes and local vegetables. The oatmeal cookie is amazing and will bring you back yo your childhood! The service has always been exceptional and that remains true.

Day 2

East side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the east side side of town. Start the day off with Dreamland BBQ, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Avenue Pub - Downtown Tuscaloosa. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Barbecue restaurant
Dreamland BBQ is a local chain known for its hickory-fired ribs, plates, sandwiches, wings, and comfort sides. The original location was opened in Tuscaloosa in 1958 by John Big Daddy Bishop and has since become a popular spot for locals and visitors. While the original menu included burgers and BBQ, it now focuses solely on ribs, fixins, and desserts. The restaurant's atmosphere at the original location in Jerusalem Heights adds to its charm.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An Old-School BBQ Pilgrimage Worth Every Bite Nestled in a sleepy hollow outside Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the Original Dreamland Bar-B-Que is the kind of place that turns a road trip into a rite of passage. A friend messaged me when he saw I was headed toward Louisiana: "If you're going through Tuscaloosa Ala-bam, you HAVE to stop at Dreamland BBQ. Until a few years ago, the only thing on the menu was ribs." From the outside, it looks like your classic hole-in-the-wall joint—but the second you walk through the door, you're transported to another era. The smell of hickory wood smoke greets you like an old friend. This place isn’t just BBQ—it’s history, tradition, and soul, all wrapped up in one unforgettable bite. I always trust the staff’s recommendation, so I went with the half chicken. Let me tell you—it was a religious culinary experience. Smoky, flavorful, and perfectly moist. I’ve eaten a lot of BBQ in my time, but this was next-level. Of course, I couldn’t just stop there. I left with a cooler full of goodies: •A full slab of ribs (because it’s Dreamland—you have to) •Another half chicken •Their Legendary BBQ sandwich •And both kinds of dessert: the banana pudding and the chocolate dream The sweet tea—Big Daddy’s Iced Tea—was the perfect Southern pairing. Everything was authentic, soulful, and utterly delicious. The vibe? Pure Americana. The kind of place where the story is as rich as the sauce. And that sauce? A vinegar-based masterpiece with just the right kick. Don’t leave without buying a jar to take home. Dreamland says it best: “Ain’t nothing like ’em nowhere.” I couldn’t agree more.
Marlene P — Google review
The original Dreamland BBQ in Tuscaloosa was a great experience. The building is not large. However, the day we visited, there were plenty of seats. I would assume that during football season, there could be a wait for a table. The ribs were awesome, and the sauce had a slight kick that was perfect. The loaf bread and extra sauce were the perfect accompaniment. I got the half rack of ribs, and it was a lot of food. The banana pudding was also great.

This place is BUSY. If you want service, make sure you approach one of the servers, as they are constantly moving between tables, serving, cleaning tables, closing out tabs, etc. They were fast with taking my order and closing out my tab, but depending on patrons, it can take a while. It took about 15-20 minutes to get our order. We ordered the legendary bbq pork (chopped) sandwiches and quarter slab pork ribs. And oh boy, now I know why this bbq restaurant was packed! I think I ate the pork sandwich in less than 4 bites, so get the large sandwich!! Best pork ribs I’ve ever had - and the sauce is amazing(vinegar based, not sweet). The baked beans and potato salad were also very good.
T C — Google review
THIS place epitomizes southern barbecue. A little grimy, loud, sports and great food. You sit and they bring the sauce and bread. Tables have paper towel rolls and you will need them. We got half a slab, half a chicken, Mac & Cheese (capitalized bc it’s so good), cole slaw, and baked beans. Mrs Beautiful thought the beans were so good she compared them to her mom’s - instantly earning a five star review. I liked the chicken best. So well seasoned and smoked that the meat was permeated with amazing flavor. We ended with puddings - banana and chocolate. Both were 5 stars. You only need a little because they are so rich (& you’ve already stuffed yourself with too much meat). We even ordered an extra pint of mac & cheese to go - jr liked it that much.

Delicious bbq and quick service with a smile. We got there early on a Sunday and had no problem getting a table. Our ribs were on our table less than 5 minutes after ordering and man were they good! Smokey and sweet and that sauce was tangy! Loved the atmosphere and will be back!

Here from Florida for an Alabama game and was told this place has the best RIBS ever! DK E was absolutely amazing Hometown feel and delicious food! Must try!

Sauce is yumm. Put it on anything. Slaw was rough cut. Banana pudding better than the chocolate pudding. Like I am at a church social.
Kim M — Google review
"Ain't nothing like 'em nowhere." The original. I plan cross country road trips so I just happen to be in Tuscaloosa around meal times so I can go here. These ribs are always perfect. The sauce is the best rib sauce I have ever had. It just compliments the tender meat. Other locations that they have opened have a more expanded BBQ menu, but the original focuses on the ribs. And they DO. NOT. MISS. My go-to side is their potato salad. Pour a little BBQ sauce in the cup and it is heaven in your mouth. I always get a jar of sauce to bring home, I know I can't replicate the perfection of their ribs, but I can make mine raise up several notches with their rub and sauce. I always post pictures on my socials and smile as all my friends that KNOW get jealous. Just go there. That's all you gotta do.

UpSurge Trampoline Park is a popular and convenient destination for fun, especially for birthday parties. The basic package offers a great time with staff that cleans up the room after the party. The facility is clean and family-friendly, with reasonable prices. Even toddlers can have a blast here, as the attentive staff ensures their safety while they play. Additionally, older kids can enjoy activities like facing fears of heights and jumping into foam pit pools or taking on challenging Ninja Courses.
Nice place. Took my 2 year old granddaughter and she had a blast. Set up very nice and clean. Enjoyed our time.

I have always enjoyed this place for my kids but it’s definitely not a good idea to have it open to much older kids and the little ones later at night. The older kids were extremely rowdy and it did not feel safe, fun, or family friendly. It might be a good idea to invest in security, metal detectors, and have adults supervising the play area at night and maybe having a cutoff time for the younger kids.

This is a good place for younger and older kids I feel like this place so supervised that they don’t need security older kids are well behaved and are very mindful of the little children playing.

Website says you can bring in outside food, come to find out that's only if you book a b-day party. Not very nice!!! We had to pack up my grandsons cake and exit the premises to continue the party, for a 5 year old!!!

Went for a grands birthday party and watching them play and have fun bouncing, climbing and jumping in the fome pit makes me wish I was younger so I could join them.
Dawn C — Google review
The place is not that clean, there is not a good place for parent to seat while they are waiting for their kids, they could make it way better than that. The option of the food os not that good. They could improve it with better management.
A F — Google review
So much fun. I was worried my 2 year old was too small to play here but since friend wanted to go so we tried it out. The staff was amazing. They made sure bigger kids stayed out of the area we were jumping in and my little guy had a blast. The basketball goal even lowers down low enough for him to play which was great since he's obsessed and must play anytime he sees a goal! The price seems a little high at $15 an hour but we try to go on Tuesdays now since you get 2 hours for the price of one! Just a warning, the form pit is really hard to get out of so don't jump too far out unless you want a real workout!
Christina S — Google review
Love the atmosphere. I've got a 2 year old who loves to jump and he loves the dodge balls they have there. Except he doesn't play dodgeball. He just wants to carry it around with em. Lol the staff didn't say a word about the balls not being in a certain area(which I'm sure weren't allowed). Instead they just let em play. 5 stars

America's Thrift Stores & Donation Center is a treasure trove for anyone who loves the thrill of secondhand shopping. Located in Tuscaloosa, this thrift store boasts an impressive array of items, from clothing and housewares to furniture and toys, making it a perfect stop for the entire family. As you wander through its well-organized aisles, you'll discover unique finds that can turn any ordinary day into an exciting adventure.
This place was amazing. I came in town from Chicago and saw the reviews for this place and had to check it out. I’m glad I did. The store is so organized and clean. There are signs identifying each department, which makes it easy when you’re on the hunt. They had tons of housewares, tons of clothing, they have furniture, toys. I found some university of Alabama T-shirts, and sweatshirts, which was such a score. Since my daughter will be going there in the fall, which is why we’re here this week. The T-shirts were only $3.99 and the hoodie was $9.99. I was thrilled. There are rows of shoes, sheets, blankets, tons of little kid, clothes, holiday decor. I bought a lot of really cute Easter decor and scored a pair of gorgeous brass wall scone candle holders for $4.99. They had the original price tag showing they were $29.99 each. There was tons of wall art and picture frames. I spent hours wandering the store. As far as thrift stores go, this one is probably one of the best that I’ve been to.
TM D — Google review
Not a bad thrift store. Lots of items don’t have tags, mostly the toys. Probably torn off by a kid. Some of the toys are really dirty. Prices aren’t bad. Staff was friendly and helpful with missing tags.
Sharla R — Google review
I can’t believe how poorly my friend was treated while working at this store. From the start, she was thrown into the job with no training, and instead of offering support, the manager would gossip about her to other employees. Since this was her first job, they took advantage of her lack of experience and made the work environment really toxic. When she and her mom tried to have a conversation with management about the way she was being treated, one of the managers completely lost control and even attempted to hit her mom. On top of that, some of the older male employees acted inappropriately toward younger female workers, which made the whole situation even worse. No one should have to work in such an unprofessional and unsafe environment. I hope this store gets shut down for good. Not to mention that most of their clothes have oil stains on them and seems like they haven't even been washed. They make their prices super high. Greedy hags.
Sawyer B — Google review
I love the store .... The products and decent process too check out.. but they need more registers open... The lines be too long
L. B — Google review
Both the managers tried to talk to me about conspiracy theories on microwaves with hidden cameras. and then tried to sell me a second hand mini camera for my own microwave. I think they were trying to watch me. Will not be coming back.
Roy S — Google review
The cashier that checked us out was absolutely rude and looked very disgusted with her job in general. Very bad attitude with every thing. She asked if I was using cash or card I replied card and she even had an attitude about that. Only gave 2 stars because other than that the store was okay and had a variety of stuff but if you don’t have welcoming employees then it ruins experience!
Kristine B — Google review
i came here looking for cute clothes, but to my disappointment everything in the store smelled really bad. the stench was so strong i had to scurry off before i could even get to the second row of clothes. one of their electric doors is currently broken as well which serves as a serious hazard, considering there is no ac in the building and it gets up to 105 degrees in there.

Government Plaza is a charming five-acre park nestled in the heart of downtown Tuscaloosa, conveniently located near City Hall and the Intermodal Facility parking deck. The park features a large fountain, a central gazebo for live music, and ample green space with accessible sidewalks. Visitors can relax on benches under shady trees and make use of the provided restrooms. The plaza is dog-friendly and often hosts various events such as art and music festivals, outdoor movies, and more.
I love how they transformation this park during holiday season (T-town tinsel). I circled around a few times then eventually read about the historic aspect of this park with its engrave statues. A lot of history in Alabama and opportunities for people of color in city involvement. I would love to come back w/o holiday decor. I walk/drove past bus transit and never knew a park exist. Convinced location with municipal building nearby.

Beautiful plaza is a 5-acre park in the heart of downtown Tuscaloosa. There is a large lovely fountain, a central gazebo / covered stage for live music, and a sprawling green space with accessible sidewalks. There are also some benches, shady trees, and restrooms. Dog-friendly (dogs must be leashed). Heat Pizza is at this park, great spot for pizza and beer. Several art and music festivals are held here, as well as outdoor family movies and other events. For a month or two in winter, the park is transformed into a Christmas wonderland! There is a tinsel trail of Christmas trees all lit up, and even an ice skating rink. Highly recommend.

Had a blast although I realized why it's been over 20 years since I went ice skating. My 7 year old was a beast, never giving up no matter how much she struggled. Everyone was super nice and helpful and the trees are once again beautiful to see. Will be going back next weekend.

We had lots of fun ice-skating. It was painful though. There was excellent hot coco at a restaurant near by. They make the hot coco with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles. They were 4 dollars each, but so good. It's 15 dollars to ice-skate but but 12.00 on Tuesday or something like that. They have polar bears that you hold to balance while you learn. You can also use the rail like at a roller rink. There is a nearby bathroom by the restaurant.

Sweet Home Food Bar is a popular spot in Tuscaloosa, offering American and Italian dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. Despite the town's traditional vibe, this hip brunch destination has found its place near the Black Warrior Brewing Company. Since 2014, it has been serving up New York style breakfast creations like maple bacon pancakes and chicken, bacon, egg and hot sauce breakfast sandwiches.
The place is nice and the food is delicious. Walk around the corner from the busy place and come here. Lindsey was our server and she was great with our party of 10. We ordered kids silver dollar pancakes, Bacon, but wer were given turkey bacon, breakfast nachos, which were delicious, chicken and waffles, they were good, chicken and biscuits were good too, 2 burgers, they were moist and seasoned well, and the breakfast bowl and it was good too. Everything was hot and delicious. We will definitely come again.

A cute hidden gem! We loved the whole vibe of this place! The service was fantastic, felt like being in someone's home. Everything was delicious and large portions. The appetizers could be a meal all alone. We loved the arancini, truffle parmesan chips and fried green tomatoes. And an inside out smores... who doesn't love smores!

We came for Sunday Brunch. Loved the ambiance of the place, It wasn’t too busy so we were seated almost immediately. Our waitress was nice and overall service wasn’t bad. Their brunch menu is fairly small so you have the choice between like 6 things. I ordered the chicken and waffles which came out almost burnt. The waffle looked like it had sat in the toaster oven a few mins too long and the chicken was dry. I will say, the flavors of the dish were excellent; however, it being overdone ruined it for me. The waffle had a very sweet vanilla flavor- tasting like those leige style Belgian waffles which I loved. My boyfriend got the chicken and biscuits. The way they pour the gravy on top of the open faced biscuit leads to a soggy biscuit. And the dry chicken didn’t make up for it. He also didn’t think the price was fair ($14) for 2 tenders and some average biscuits. I probably wouldn’t come back but I think if the food was cooked properly it would’ve been excellent

Wow! Here on a college tour of University of Alabama. Came here since they have a diverse lunch menu. Food was excellent, and staff was friendly and fast! Will definitely come here again next time we’re in Tuscaloosa. Sorry we took pictures after we started

Generally underwhelming. Went for Sunday brunch. They didn’t have our reservation in the system, which was fine because the restaurant was only half full. Despite not being particularly busy, we went most of the meal without drinks because our waitress never checked in for refills. Ended up having to flag her down for the check. Pictured are the breakfast nachos - sounded great, but were pretty bland. Would not get again. When the waitress asked, my fiancé requested his burger medium rare and it came well done and dried out. Our friend’s chicken did look good and the restaurant itself is cute. We do not live nearby, but this is not somewhere we’d return to if we were local.

Great couple. What a friendly, comfy, sophisticated venue! I truly enjoy the food and the love you taste from the sweet owners! We stumbled upon Wednesday Wine night and it was such a pleasure! If I was in Tuscaloosa more often, it would definitely be a weekly occurrence! The only picture I have is the one from a to-go order, but you will not be disappointed! Extremely service friendly!

Local restaurant serving local cuisine. The food came quickly. Nothing memorable. The wait staff were busy, but not well organized. The decor is dark. The acoustics make it hard to carry on a conversation.

Amazing food and staff. If the lasagna is on the menu, I highly recommend it. The sauce is fantastic and has a wonderful touch of heat. I can honestly say it's the best I've tasted. Draft beer prices are amazing. A truly wonderful dining experience. We will stop here every time we pass through Tuscaloosa.

Tex-Mex restaurant
Fast food restaurant
Taco Casa is a local fast-casual eatery that offers an array of traditional Mexican dishes in a casual and relaxed atmosphere. This popular counter-serve chain has been satisfying the taste buds of Tuscaloosa residents since 1974, making it a well-known establishment in the college community. If you have a passion for discovering new culinary destinations, especially those specializing in tacos or BBQ, Taco Casa should definitely be on your radar.
I travel from Kentucky just to eat here. As I'm not a Alabama native and this place is the holy grail of cheap but amazing tex-mex cuisine! In my opinion this place deserves to be listed as a unesco world heritage site. It's that amazing. Jokes aside. It's worth the stop everytime. You won't be disappointed!
Mullit O — Google review
Legend has it that Taco Casa has been feeding Tuscaloosa people since 1974, a staple in the college community here. If you know me, you know I love exploring new places to eat, especially if it’s tacos or BBQ. So off I went 3 hours to dine in and this place was packed like a Chic-fil-A!! Keeping things simple, I chose the Combo #1 beef which included a hard shell taco, beef enchilada covered in queso, refried beans, rice and chips. Their sweet tea is a highly recommended drink and it didn’t disappoint. The combo, however, left a bit to be desired IMO. 3.8/5⭐️ Nothing I‘d drive 3 hours again for but if you’re ever in Tuscaloosa, AL it’s worth a stop.

This was close to the worst taco place I have been to, and I have traveled all over. Could tell employees did not want to be there. I should have left but wanted to try something different. Ordered Sancho (beef) and Enchilada (chicken) combo. Had some rice, beans, and some chips on top. I do camps with kids and know Sams stuff when I taste it. I do not expect Sams #10 can food when I come to a restaurant. Ask for light ice, and she topped off my cup with ice. Was starving but just could not finish. Just threw the rest in the dumpster. This is probably one of the worst reviews I have ever written, but I just see no excuse to serve this kind of food.

I am very disappointed in my food I came on 2/13/25 at 9 something when I ordered my food the lady told us they wasn't serving no drinks she was rude and was rushing me to order kept asking was that it was that it before I could finish my order my food was cold and threw together the tortillas was cold and stale round the rim like it was just sitting out and when we got to the window she asked us if we wanted some tea that she had took the kids off in front of us wast some out put the lid back on and offered it to us and slammed the window shut while we was asking u wasn't they serving drinks unprofessional
Lisa G — Google review
You let it go 2 times, but the 3rd time getting home with wrong order, not acceptable. Order and pay for chicken chimalupa, only to get home and have beef. I guess if you go here, unwrap all your food and make sure you get what you ordered. Food quality and preparation at this location is in the dump. Has been, but I thought I'd try again. I've gotten completely soggy hardshell tacos (no excuse, I live 5 minutes away), stale sopapias, chimalupa's that look like they sat out all day, and wrong order multiple times. Of course drive thru, so you find out when you get home. My advice, skip this location. Make the drive to 69 south or Northport. It actually taste somewhat fresh at those locations. You know, like the radio commercial promises. Or skip taco casa all together.

We had some poor time management on our part and ended up an hour early for our reservation. Ordered a drink at the bar and they were able to get us sat within 15 minutes. From the front desk, to the bar, to our server everyone was extremely kind and accommodating. They had several specials including a scallop dish with a miso glaze. It was honestly one of my favorite things I've ever eaten. Atmosphere, food, and service were impeccable across the board. We'll definitely be visiting again.

5 Stars – Perfect Anniversary Dinner! We visited Evangeline’s Restaurant in Tuscaloosa for our anniversary dinner, and it was absolutely wonderful! The food was amazing fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Everything came out within a reasonable time, and the service was top notch. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, checking on us throughout the meal to make sure we were completely satisfied. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, which made the night feel even more special. Our first time eating this fancy and I’d say this is what fancy dining is. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great dining experience, whether it’s for a special occasion or just a night out. We’ll definitely be coming back!

I've been a patron for 20 years. This is without a doubt my favorite restaurant of all time. I consider myself a food critic that has been to restaurants all over the globe. I am also a total snob. The staff is one of the most genuine slices of America you will ever find. The service is white table cloth quality. The food is awesome. You will not find a place as unique as this anywhere else. This restaurant legitimizes Tuscaloosa as a foodie town.

We had dinner there last night. I made reservations and we got there a few minutes late. We sat for about 30 minutes before someone came and took our drink order. Once our waitress knew we were her table the service went from 0-100. We had delicious cocktails, whiskey sour and lemon drop and salads for our appetizers. We both had the fillets for dinner. The food was cooked perfectly!!!! I didn’t have any room for dessert but my hubby had a yummy caramel ice cream. When the bill came the Hostess came to the table and let us know they were taking our entrées off the bill. We were in shock but so very grateful. We paid the bill and left the waitress a very nice tip. I can’t say enough wonderful things about our experience and this great restaurant. We can’t wait to come back and eat there again.Thank you so much for a wonderful evening. Love the Couple from NY ❤️

Day 3

Off the beaten path
For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Tuscaloosa Amphitheater. Not quite as popular as Children's Hands-On Museum, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 7 hours.

The Tuscaloosa Amphitheater, situated by the Black Warrior River, is a popular venue for outdoor concerts and events featuring renowned performers. It offers an enjoyable experience with convenient parking options such as downtown intermodal and shuttle services. The amphitheater boasts excellent acoustics and lighting, making it a perfect location for live music performances. With efficient staff managing the crowds and seating arrangements, attendees can enjoy their favorite shows with ease.
Excellent venue for outdoor concerts. Bathrooms were clean and easily handled the near capacity crowd. Plenty of concession/drink options with not much line. Stage is oriented so as to block the brutal heat from the setting sun. Although while we were there it was 92 degrees at 9pm with a feels like 98 thanks to humidity. We saw Ringo Starr and the All Star band. Great show!
Karl S — Google review
We have attended multiple events here this year. Several comments. 1) Event staff inside the venue are fabulous! Very friendly, helpful and they do a fantastic job of crowd control and keeping the venue (especially restrooms) clean. 2) Event staff outside the venue are friendly but perhaps need a bit more training. Whole the website clearly says there is a “Drop off /Pick up” area, the staff directing traffic seem to know nothing about this. Either they need to be better informed or the website needs to be updated if such a place no longer exists. 3) At three events, we arrived over 90 minutes before gates open to find the precious few handicapped parking spaces taken. Meanwhile, the same lot has dozens of “reserved” spots marked off with orange cones. When leaving the events (we always leave a few minutes early to beat traffic) we have observed at least two dozen “reserved” spots vacant and still closed off by the orange cones. Regular parking is relatively easy with multiple options. However, if you are handicapped, not so much since the designated spaces fill up every early and event staff say there is no drop off area to let a handicapped person out at for easier access. 4) Food options need to improve and expand. Both Orion in Huntsville and Coca Cola in Birmingham have leave Tuscaloosa in the shade with fantastic and varied options for food and snacks. 5) All of that being said, I would not pass on this venue. It is cozy, clean, safe and in a beautiful location. We look forward to next season.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Tuscaloosa Amphitheater – 5 Stars What a night! The Masters of the Mic concert at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater was an absolute masterclass in hip-hop history, flow, and showmanship. From the moment I arrived, the entire experience was seamless — friendly and professional staff, smooth entry, clearly marked signs, and even helpful guidance getting to my seat. And then the magic started. The stage was lit — literally and lyrically — as legends stepped up one by one and tore it down with flow, swag, and deep gratitude. The lineup featured: 🎤 Doug E. Fresh 🎤 Slick Rick 🎤 MC Lyte 🎤 Big Daddy Kane 🎤 Treach (from Naughty By Nature) 🎤 EPMD Every artist gave the crowd their full energy — nostalgic, commanding, and full of love for the culture and fans. The production was top-tier, and you could feel the reverence and legacy in the building. It was more than a concert — it was a celebration. I left smiling, full, healed and hyped, Can’t wait for the next one. 🎶🔥✨ #MastersOfTheMic #TuscaloosaAmphitheater #HipHopLegends

♿️First concert at this amphitheater and it is pretty nice. Gorgeous views before concert, seating is fairly comfortable, and its very clean and well kept. Security is very tight and there was EMS, as well as police on scene, for anything crazy. A bus will take you back and forth for the concert if you park in the free parking deck. It was very convenient. Traffic was not horrible getting home this way. It is extremely accessible. I was very happy about that fact and found it easy to navigate for restrooms, drinks, and getting back and forth. The seats are extremely close together and that poses a slight problem for me with my leg, but security did an excellent job keeping the aisles clear. Beautiful. If you get a chance to go to a concert here, I do recommend it. I was a little disappointed at the lack of handicap parking spaces, but having the bus and free parking made up for that.

Seafood restaurant
Chucks Fish is a trendy restaurant that offers a diverse menu featuring seafood, sushi, and pizza alongside a full bar. The establishment holds significance as it is named after the late Charles Chuck Morgan II, who was not particularly known for fishing but once caught a 30-pound king mackerel in a tournament with his friend Julian Bond. This notable catch became known as Chucks Fish.
This place has so many delicious looking options that it was hard to decide. We finally ask for our server's opinion, and I ended up with the shrimp and chorizo fettuccine. It was delicious. The Alfredo sauce was not overly heavy and the shrimp were perfectly cooked.
Elyse O — Google review
We recently dined at Chuck restaurant and left extremely disappointed, especially considering the steep prices. The atmosphere was overwhelmingly loud due to the excessive echo, making it necessary to almost shout to have a conversation. We started with the stuffed shrimp, which was excellent, but the ahi tuna was a major letdown. It was overly spicy, masking any flavor of the tuna, and the vegetables that accompanied it had a strange smell and taste. We waited 45 minutes to be seated and another 30 minutes for our food. To top it off, the sushi we ordered didn't arrive until after we had finished our meal and dessert. The final bill for two, without drinks and excluding the sushi, came to over $110. Overall, the service and food did not justify the cost, and we won't be returning.
Luzanda P — Google review
As a fish connoisseur I tried both menus, the sushi was outstanding . The catch of the day I waited for quite some time but it came out cold. Overall good experience, had to sit at the bar as it was so busy.

Visited on a Friday when football game was away. Arrived around 5:30 pm. Parking about 3 to 4 blocks away. Once inside, seated quickly with immediate service. Spring roll appetizer was excellent. Blackened mahi mahi with an ettoufe was excellent and made me feel like I was back in New Orleans. My buddy had the seared Tuna , which was excellent also. Will definitely visit again on my next trip through Tuscaloosa.
Charles P — Google review
The New York strip steak was wonderful, probably the best one in Tuscaloosa. Focaccia bread as an appetizer was great but could’ve been a little less greasy. The white chocolate bread pudding was below average. Little to no flavor, unfortunately same with the sundae that came with it (but was initially missing when I received the order). Interestingly enough my table ordered this dessert three times and everyone got a different sauce on it. One got caramel, the other strawberry, and the last one chocolate (which was the sauce advertised on the menu). Sauce was also lacking flavor. Would come back for entree and appetizers. However, the state of the facilities is almost unacceptable for this price range. Dining room looked good, but the private room upstairs was old, small, and not well maintained. Having more than a handful of people in it made it impossible to have conversations as the noise has no where to go as the ceiling was not very high. Overall, the room looked more than a closet space than a fancy private room for an upscale dining experience. Even worse, the men’s restroom was unacceptable. The soap dispenser is hanging on to dear life and almost fell into my hands when I tried to use it and water from the faucet in the sink is spraying out uncontrollably. Generally, the restroom wasn’t clean at all. Servers were great. Needs to improve facilities for me to consider the price worth it.

This was an exceptional experience! Our server, Chris (?) was absolutely fantastic. He was very polite and attentive. Great job on him! The atmosphere is very nice but a little loud for quiet conversation. The food was also very good. The New Orleans Oysters were amazing. The steaks were good, but to me lacked flavor without the Creole sauce. The other items were also very good. Exceptional place for a Father's Day dinner with the family.

Sorry, I'll definitely be going back. I'll upload more pictures. If your gonna be in Tuscaloosa anytime soon, it's very much worth your time and money!

I wanted to experience southern food and I was not let down! Oysters, gumbo, catfish and crawfish sauce were excellent! (Not all consumed at the same time) key lime pie was the best I ever had! Friendly staff, great atmosphere, you need to eat here, especially if you want to try a southern dish!!!

Food was really good. Had a longer than expected wait to get seated. Redfish Oreleans had really good marination of Orleans sauce. Jumblaya soup was also awesome.

Cocktail bar
Central Mesa is a vibrant Latin American restaurant in downtown Tuscaloosa, offering a unique twist on traditional Mexican dishes. The funky space with brick archways sets the scene for creative culinary delights and cocktails. Their non-traditional menu features items like hot chicken and churros, breakfast nachos, and Brisket Hash, all crafted fresh in-house. Located off of Greensboro Ave., Central Mesa's brunch menu offers a refreshing departure from typical southern brunch fare.
Absolutely phenomenal! 🌮 We all had the Birria tacos, tender, flavorful, and unforgettable. The classic margarita was spot-on: not too sweet, with just the right lime kick. The decor is stunning, with exposed brick arches and beautiful details throughout. And our server was the sweetest, warm, attentive, and kind. We will be back!
Laura F — Google review
The food was good but I'm rating my experience 3 stars because I think it is overpriced. $18 for two tacos just seems too much. I went by myself, got the spicy shrimp tacos and a classic strawberry margarita, which was less than normal because it was happy hour, and my bill was over $30 with a normal tip. In conclusion, I will say the food was good but I wouldn't say $18 good to where I will be back anytime soon.

Central Mesa is my favorite Mexican restaurant! If you go there you must try the mahi rice bowl. It is the most flavorful meal I have ever had! After multiple visits I can honestly say that the service and atmosphere is consistently excellent. We eat there anytime we are in Tuscaloosa, AL. I highly recommend everyone who likes Mexican cuisine try it!

Everyone is so nice, and beautiful. Natalie was the person who hosted us and she was so nice. The whole restaurant is beautiful. I jumped into my food before i could get a picture. I do recommend if you are passes though

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 10/8/2025 I had an absolutely phenomenal experience at Central Mesa! I ordered what’s typically listed as the Mahi Bowl but swapped the mahi for pork belly — and it was divine. The presentation was beautiful, a colorful arrangement that felt like art in a bowl: crispy pork belly pieces perfectly seasoned and caramelized, served alongside vibrant slaw, black beans and corn, jalapeños, pico de gallo, and fresh avocado slices over a flavorful rice base. I opted out of the chipotle crema, and even without it, every bite was full of texture and flavor. The balance of crunch, spice, and freshness was spot-on. My server was incredible — friendly, attentive, and genuinely creative. Since I don’t drink alcohol, I asked if she could make me a mocktail with pineapple, mint, and something sparkling. What she came up with was perfect — refreshing, balanced, and beautifully presented with crushed ice and a sprig of mint. It tasted tropical and sophisticated, the kind of drink that makes you feel like you’re treating yourself without compromise. It’s rare to find a restaurant where both the food and service hit every note. Central Mesa impressed me on all levels — atmosphere, hospitality, and culinary quality. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of the menu (and probably get another pork belly bowl!). Highly recommend this spot for anyone who appreciates creative Southern-Latin fusion with top-tier service and flavor.

Food was delicious and has a nice atmosphere. We both had the tacos (mahi tacos and spicy shrimp tacos ) and they are delicious. Our server, Cole did a great job and check on us multiple times . Really enjoyed eating there!!

I had a really nice time here. The bartender didn't really say too much but he was super nice. I had a dirty martini and it was perfect. The jalapeño margarita was good too I did enjoy my food but everything seemed to be a little undercooked. I loved the ambiance of the place. Varying relaxing atmosphere. I would definitely return.

Came in for a margarita . Place was empty i asked if they can use fresh limes in my margarita and bartender gave me a hard time saying she didnt have fresh limes. Interesting. Also had no cointreau or grand marnier. This is supposedley a mexican restaurant

From the front desk to the rooftop bar, you can't beat this friendly atmosphere. Allison and Arianna at the front desk are extremely welcoming. And the rooftop....nothing but smiles and great attitudes. Verdie, Kennae, Annalise, Dee, Elliott, they all give each customer the same, great experience. And lets not forget about the food. Chuck cooks whatever you ask for....just the way you want it !! The views, friendly service, and the smiles are what keeps me coming back !!

Our experience was initially frustrating because the hotel could not access our reservation we made through Airbnb. I understand that it's a 3rd party system- but if I'm able to book through them, the systems in place should be flawless. It seemed like this wasn't the first time the hotel has this issue. The front desk agent, Alexis, was awesome though. She explained what was going on and kept updating us while we were waiting for the manager to return her calls. We waited about 20 minutes for her to get a response and Alexis was super apologetic - even though none of it was her fault. Once we got in the room, I was disappointed to see stained bed linens and decorative pillows. The housekeeping seemed rushed- the floor was sticky, there was water left in the ice container even though there was a fresh bag hanging over the side. The refrigerator did not work well and the shower could use a deep cleaning. The rooftop restaurant was good, but the service was not what one would expect for the price paid. Breakfast in the morning was tasty enough and the server was doing his best. Overall probably would not stay here again, but it wasn't the worst conditions for a single night.

Taylor came out to the bus to greet me. She told me where to park the bus then took my luggage inside for me so I didn't have to walk it back with me from the parking lot. She ten came back out to make sure there was enough room for me to park. Once I got into the hotel she even brought my luggage to my room. Talk about going above and beyond! The hotel is lovely with spacious rooms and a cute little mini Fridge. The shower has Great water pressure and temperature. Comfortable beds. The roof top bar has a beautiful view.

We spent the night at your hotel on Friday. Check in was easy. We were told about the upstairs restaurant and bar. We went upstairs and had a drink and great service from Verdie. She was personal, friendly and efficient. We talked about some different cocktails and she suggested some for us. They were very good. Thanks Verdie

Really wanted to give this hotel a 5 star because the location is great and view from room was awesome! But the reason for the 2 star is: the room floors were very dirty, Kleenex box was wet and moldy, trash left in room from previous person and extra toilet paper roll was dirty. The housekeeping did not replace toilet paper on second day either so we were stuck with 1 roll for 3 people and 2 nights. Plus sides: beds were comfy, breakfast was good and restaurant staff were very nice.
April M — Google review
The Tuscaloosa Indigo was a study in contrasts. I love the creativity and the use of color throughout the rooms. It is not corporate blah. Some of the furniture was in bad condition. Huge drink stains on the wood table and holes in the couch - yikes! I loved the location by the river but you are amid a large apartment complex with cars parked outside your window.
Michelle G — Google review
Don't stay here! Don't stay here unless you absolutely have to have a view of the river. There are other hotels within walking distance of the amphitheater. The parking lot is in the back, but there is no entrance in the back. Who was the idiot that approved that? There is no breakfast buffet. You have to order a breakfast meal in The Overlook, the rooftop bar. $20. The Keurig machine in my room did not work. The mattress was so soft you couldn't even sit on the edge of the bed without sliding off. The pillows were too soft also. I had to roll up two pairs of jeans into a roll to use as a pillow. There was something that I won't even say, on the floor in front of the full length mirror. If you have a really nasty imagination, you probably guessed right. I guess they only dry sweep the hardwood floor. The trash can in the room was so small, a to-go box wouldn't fit in it. I looked at the snack bar in the lobby, I was just wanting a piece of bread or a cracker because my stomach was a little irritated. The woman at the counter showed it to me when I asked. I didn't buy or take anything, yet I was charged $4.40 anyway. When I checked out and saw it, she said I could speak to the manager, but I was ready to go and decided that I was probably lucky to get out of this place with my life. There was no milk available anywhere in the building. Two good things, I didn't see any bugs, and the HVAC had a real thermostat like a house would. Also good, no pet stains or smells. I would never go back here again.
Steve H — Google review
We have stayed here in the past and it has gone down hill. The room was not clean, the shower was dirty, the bedding was terrible. The rooftop restaurant was terrible. Food and service. No plain cream for coffee at any of the locations throughout the hotel.

DePalma's Italian Cafe is a lively venue known for its cozy atmosphere and delicious Italian food. It's an ideal spot for celebrating special family events or intimate moments with loved ones. The menu features classic Italian dishes like lasagna and veal marsala, as well as unique specials such as gorgonzola filet and pine-nut crusted salmon. While popular among locals, reservations are not accepted, so be prepared to wait while enjoying a glass of wine.
Get. The. Pizza. There’s many different combinations of toppings that you can choose on the pizzas here. This might be the best pizza I’ve ever had in my life actually. And I’ve been to Italy in New York City like 40 times. Stuffed mushrooms were very good as well. Everything about this place was awesome. The food was top-notch and the service was really really good. It is not a big place and while I didn’t wait for a table, I’m pretty sure I got the only open one and I went at 5:00 PM so I’m sure there’s usually a wait in the evenings.

Everything about this place was fabulous!! We were welcomed and seated very quickly with smiling faces. Our server was Alana, I highly recommend request if you can. She was very attentive even while juggling other tables/parties. The food was delicious and fresh. I highly recommended anyone from out of town enjoying the experience of DeDALMA'S when in Tuscaloosa!!

Quaint Lil place in downtown Tuscaloosa, friendly staff, great appetizers, super entrées. We ordered the stuffed shells with Asiago cream sauce, extra mushrooms. Outstanding! Wife had Mediterranean pasta with Salmon, there was so much, and so good, she brought some back to hotel for another day. Bread was a good accomplice with meal. If we do return any time soon, it's on the list to go back to.

The restaurant was packed out on a Tuesday night, so I sat at the bar. I could see how the wait time could get long. The food itself was pretty good. Not amazing, but not "Olive Garden" quality as others have stated. I had the stuffed mushrooms and the daily lasagna with a Caesar salad.

After a long trip from another state, we were looking forward to a pleasant Italian dinner. This quaint restaurant has great potential: the atmosphere is nice and the location guarantees a lot of customers. We were seated immediately and Carlos was our server. He was very snippy, but gave fast service. One of the wines we wanted was unavailable but we were able to substitute. This is the end of anything good to say, as I begin to review the food. I ordered spaghetti with Bolognese sauce and it was unlike any Bolognese I've ever seen. It was floating in 1/2 inch of water. There were tiny pieces of flat meat in it which I'm beginning to think was bologna. Is it possible they made Bolognese with bologna? It was thick and very tomato-y and pretty much tasteless. I took 2 bites and was finished. Obviously, the garlic bread is purchased already sliced, coated in a fake butter and garlic powder, then frozen. It was so bad. I've pictured the Pasta DePalma which came with a "cap" of broiled cheese. Underneath was a tasteless, watery sauce, chicken and ice cold mushrooms. Please, anyone, where can you get a good meal in Tuscaloosa? It was so disappointing. We were taking someone out for a special dinner and special it was not. We spent over $130 for food we boxed up, unable to eat.
Beth C — Google review
A mixed review: love the space, high ceilings and old style decorations. Great service, very attentive. But the food was meh... mid week lunch, the special lasagna $30 definitely over priced and far from great.. gloppy, chewy and in a bowl swimming in excess liquid. A veggie pasta lunch $15 was so-so with the veggies all a bit more crunchy than ideal. (Didn't have the pizza which might be good.) Portions were very large. My opinion is they should reduce portion size and learn/adopt more modern menu & chef - maybe import someone from Bottega or Gian Marco....
Cahaba D — Google review
We love Italian food especially homemade pasta, but found no homemade pasta here & pizza was dry. We did ask for extra sauce & they brought out a tomato soup like pizza sauce that had no flavor & charged $3. Atmosphere & service was very nice and bottle price on wine looked very reasonable.

Super cute place! They had a really good bakery section, and everything was good, but they sort of messed up our order and we were waiting for so long to get it that we didn't have time to wait for them to fix it. The Children's Hands-On Museum in Alabama offers a dynamic learning experience for kids, with 24 interactive exhibits spread across three floors. The museum aims to stimulate children's curiosity about their community and engage them in participatory education. Visitors can explore an old-time shop, a bank, a rocket ship exhibit, outdoor animal displays, funny rooms, a farmers market, and even a fake hospital. With reasonable entrance fees and friendly staff, it's an ideal place for kids to spend hours playing and learning.
Absolutely fun for all ages, yes Mimi and pawpaw loved it too. It's wonderful to let the kids show you how they explore everything in their own way.

Nice, it's pleasant. However I rated it low due to antiques being in a children's museum geared to towards toddlers and children, this is a major health hazard for LEAD POISONING. Antiques are a health hazard for lead poisoning and other heavy metals.

I went to a school field trip. It was very chaotic. When I have gone previously, there was a guide that taught the children about each exhibit. I was disappointed that they no longer do that. I like/enjoyed the exhibits. I took the time to teach my child about each one.

We love CHOM! 💙 When we first visited, my daughter was going through a really tough time and wasn’t interested in playing, talking to anyone, or even coming back. Until she met Mr. Bryan, and everything changed. His patience, kindness, and fun energy broke through her walls and gave her the confidence she needed. He has a special way of engaging kids, sparking curiosity, and helping them feel seen. Thanks to the encouragement from Mr. Bryan, Ms. Laura (we miss her!), and the rest of the amazing CHOM staff, my daughter just started school- a milestone I never thought possible. CHOM isn’t just a fun place to play- it’s a place where kids are supported, encouraged, and inspired.

We really liked the museum a lot, it's small but the children really enjoyed it, one of the girls spoke Spanish, so we thought it was super cool, the bathrooms are clean and they have a small souvenir shop when you enter.

So much fun! The my kids and nephew, between ages 5-11, had a blast here. Multiple levels of things to do. The only thing to be aware of is that it's in the city and the closest parking is 2 hours, so it's something you need to be aware of to avoid being ticketed.

The Alabama Museum of Natural History, located on the University of Alabama campus, is the oldest museum in the state. It showcases local paleontology, archaeology, geology, and natural science exhibits. Visitors can explore diverse collections featuring geology, mineralogy, history, and paleontology. The museum is housed in historic Smith Hall, an architectural gem with Beaux-Arts design.
We visited the museum during a walk around campus. We wanted to see the Sylacauga meteorite. The admission fee is only $5 and well worth the price.
Kim A — Google review
The building itself is beautifully kept & overall absolutely amazingly gorgeous! There were some interesting facts & artifacts to look at. But, I will say there is so much more space that isn't being utilized that absolutely could be & would make this museum more attractive.
Krystal B — Google review
Very enjoyable and quite a few items to see. Well worth the money and time spent. Small gift shop that offers interesting earrings, shark tooth necklaces as well as meteorite necklaces. Took us maybe 30 minutes to see everything but worth the $5 admission - HIGHLY RECOMMEND going to the 3rd floor for the bee hive/exhibit -- it allows outside bees into their process and quite and amazing thing to see!
Sarah O — Google review
Amazing spot to explore for anyone interested in science, especially (aside from the obvious: fossils) anything to do with bees, geology, or crustaceans. The sensory room here is also a delight! The space is primarily designed for children but it was still a nice dim place to decompress for a moment.

This is a pretty neat gem on the UA campus! When I went I was the only visitor there, so it was very peaceful! The building itself is stunning, and there are a lot of neat bones and gems 💎 on display. The museum isn’t huge, but it’s definitely worth a visit. It’s also free for UA students - just show your ID!
Victoria O — Google review
The museum has only 5 visitor parking spots, all of which were taken. I drove around for 20 minutes but all I could find were spots reserved for students, faculty, staff, state vehicles, gas shutoff vehicles (?) but no nearby visitor parking spots. With no place to park, I finally left without being able to visit the museum. Judging from other comments, I'm not the only one to leave due to not being able to find a place to park. Quite disappointing.

SoCal Cantina is a Cali-Mex restaurant located in Tuscaloosa, offering popular margaritas and tacos. The restaurant features two bars and a wide selection of Southern California-style dishes, along with specialty margaritas made with fresh ingredients. Despite initially intending to leave due to the brunch-only menu, the staff accommodated the request to order from the lunch menu, allowing for a satisfying dining experience.
We decided to try this place out before going to a concert with friends, and we all LOVED IT!!! The food was amazing, the service was fantastic, and the atmosphere was perfect! We will definitely be back!!!

the place is cool, but i have been a few times now and each time left unimpressed and disappointed with my food. we went last night for date night. the service was slow even though the crowd was average. $4 taco night is a good deal but i could not eat one of mine due to the spiciness - though it made no mention of any sauce or heat level. my bf also had a chicken taco that was pretty hot as well. overall it was just not enjoyable for dinner. our plate of chips with leftover seasoning dumped onto the plate looked like we got the last batch, compared to other tables i saw with bowls and dips inside. the salsa was not great and the guac was bland so i would not order it again - a big disappointment for a place that should have great food. we ate because we were hungry, but i would not return.

Happened to eat here on a Tuesday. Had no idea that meant it was Taco Tuesday, but it was. All tacos are 4 bucks. Best deal in town!! Even at full price these tacos are the best deal in town. Once in a great while you stumble into a restaurant that changes your life, SoCal is one of those places. Every taco (I got 4 just because I couldn’t decide) was spectacular. So much meat the shell couldn’t close, the flavors would make you want to smack your mama. LOVED this place, I will go again if I ever get back to Tuscaloosa. Roll Tide! Just kidding not an Alabama fan, unless it is the country band. The tacos were amazing, atmosphere was amazing, and the location was easy to get to. A must try restaurant.

First, the waitress spoke to us and then walked past us to greet the guests behind us. The burritos barely had meat in them. The drinks were good, but it was no hand washing with the bartender and server. We sat at the bar because there were no tables available due to being short staffed.

came in for the first time with a group of 6 and all had a good experience. they got a table cleaned up for our group size and, even though it was empty, our server didnt hide away or forget about us. they were attentive, service was quick, pre-bussing and refills were on point. food was also very good, quick, and fresh for the late night meal. pricing was nice too and i like the daily discount specials. the two tacos i tried (~$9.5 total) were impressive and i liked the flavor and kick they had. fries were also good, served very hot which is sometimes difficult for those foods that cool down quickly. overall enjoyed the night and would come back
Delaney G — Google review
We were traveling and decided to try this place. We were there about an hour and a half before closing time so they weren't super busy. We both ordered taco plates. The service started out slow and it didn't get any better. The waitress took our drink order. It took forever to get them and she didn't bring straws. Then it took forever to get those. Placed our order and it was an unreasonable amount of time to wait. I think the waitress checked on us once for drinks...they had been sitting there empty. Finally, our food arrived (approximately 50 minutes after ordering) and it was ice COLD. We had ordered two tacos but they prepared it as a taco plate with rice and beans. The beans were scaled over and looked like a small cow pie that had been sitting for a while and ran over. The rice was ice cold. Both were tiny portions. Those weren't as big a deal as the tacos. Tacos were Ice ice cold too. Once of the tacos was a California taco and had fries on it...yep...ice cold. It was so bad, I said something to the waitress. Her response, it can't be, they made it fresh. So, we ate ice cold tacos. Didn't touch the beans or rice and left one of the tacos because couldn't do the chicken taco cold. We were never offered a solution and when the waitress came to bring the bill was the only somewhat of an apology we received. She said they had all new staff in the kitchen and she was sorry it took so long. CLUELESS. Yes, it took a lifetime. That was bad enough but we never complained about that. We complained about the temperature of the food. We left unhappy and won't be back next time we travel through. It was the least busy restaurant down there at the time and maybe we should have taken that as a sign. Service was AWFUL. Food was Cold. Customer Service didn't exist. We were sorry we stopped at this place.

Strange Brew Coffeehouse Bama

Coffee shop
Strange Brew Coffeehouse Bama is a popular spot located on the Strip in Tuscaloosa, drawing in students and locals alike. This local and independent coffeehouse from Starkville offers an array of specialty lattes, original espresso drinks, frappes, smoothies, teas, iced coffees, hot chocolate, and Caramel Apple Cider. They also bake their pastries from scratch including options for vegans and those who are gluten-free.
So glad we've got this joint in Tuscaloosa (and now one in Northport too). They've got great coffee, friendly service, and good treats. Being located on the Strip might pose problems for accessibility during certain times of year, but even then it can be a chill place to relax.

I came in to get some coffee and their flavors didn’t disappoint! I like the variety and unique flavors they offer, I like coffee and i have a sweet tooth and this place is my perfect happy place haha Unfortunately, the place is tiny and busy I’m not sure if I’ll ever try to work there unless it’s a weekday i might. Definitely will come back to try more flavors.
Sage P — Google review
Very cool place! The drinks are really good. I think they make them with sparkling water, which I don’t really like, but still good. The sweets are definitely worth the trip! I’ll have to go back and try a couple of different drinks next time!

Best coffee shop in Tuscaloosa! They have something for everybody- coffee, energy drinks, shakes, bakery items, and ice cream! The interior is fresh and cozy, and there is also outdoor seating if you prefer. The baristas are always polite and hard working. I go once or twice a week and have never had a bad experience. And the coffee is DELICIOUS. Miles better than Starbucks! My go-to is the albino rhino, with blueberry cold brew. You can really taste the blueberry flavor.

I had a fantastic experience at Strange Brew thanks to Stacie, one of the baristas there. She was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and made one of the best lattes I’ve ever had. You can tell she truly cares about the customers — she remembered my order after just one visit and made great recommendations. Her positive energy created such a warm, inviting atmosphere that made me want to stay longer. Strange Brew is lucky to have someone like Stacie behind the counter. I’ll definitely be coming back!
SABRINA S — Google review
This place is a great addition to Tuscaloosa!! The blueberry cake was DELICIOUS. My Drunk Squirrel (hazelnut and kahlua flavored) latte was well-balanced — not overly sweet, but you can totally taste the flavors and the coffee. Lots of flavors and snacks to choose from, and a great “Specialty Drinks” menu. Staff was also super friendly and helpful! I’ve even heard whispers that they may soon be open late-night, which Tuscaloosa desperately needs :)
Sydney H — Google review
I rarely give places a 5/5 stars, but this place most certainly earned it! The baristas were honest about which drinks would accommodate my preferences, they were very helpful and provided quick service. The rainy day latte tasted just like a werthers, and the price was super cheap compared to most coffee shops, especially for the amount of late given. The aesthetics were calming and interesting without being overwhelming. It was one of cleanest coffee shops I have been to in a long time, and smelled amazing. I just wish I would have gotten something to eat!
Kylie U — Google review
Great little coffee ☕️ shop. Cute atmosphere. The staff was friendly! I got a sausage ball... But it was cold, so I asked them to heat it up. They did.. it was still cold. So I'm not entirely sure their microwave works. Also the fact that they have to microwave the food is a little concerning. But I feel like if you pay for a sausage ball you should at least get it warm I did not.

Park
Lake Lurleen State Park, located in Tuscaloosa, is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. The park offers various recreational activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, and boating around the picturesque lake. Visitors can relax on the sandy beach or explore the hiking trails that showcase the park's natural beauty. Additionally, there are opportunities for water activities with boat rentals available. The park also features camping facilities and primitive camping areas for those looking to immerse themselves in nature.
Was a great stay for us back in 2021. We bought corn for one of the groundskeepers who kept the ducks and geese fed. Small park, but was quiet and relaxing which is just what we needed.

Great for hiking, fishing and camping. Beautiful views of the lake. This location offers different types of boat rentals for your pleasure. Be aware that this campground will be closing as of December 1 for a 100% remodel. Expected to be closed for a year, but hopefully sooner. After these renovations, it will be five stars hands down!

Good park for hiking or camping. You will pay a fee to enter the park. All the park employees we encountered were friendly and helpful. The trails could use more places to rest. The trails are lenghty so take plenty of water and energy snacks with you. A lot of wildlife which was a bonus.
Mike M — Google review
North east trails are closed but still plenty of trails left to enjoy. Well maintained rolling trails. Must use the temporary parking lot about .3 miles before you get to the main parking area. Trail Forks shows the location of the parking lot.

This is a very nice park only about 9 miles from Tuscaloosa Alabama. It’s a great place to go hiking, mountain biking, boating and fishing. In the summer they have a nice swimming beach. We spent a beautiful day there today canoeing. The one thing that absolutely drives me nuts about the park however, is that as you drive in the entrance, the first thing you see is a line of recreational vehicles. It is so ugly! Why do they need to be parked here? If they have to rent out a place for these RVs, I wish they would do it a little bit out of sight. Otherwise, this is a very nice park, and they rent kayaks, paddle boats, and canoes. Those are very popular. The price was right. Normally it is four dollars a person, or two dollars for seniors.
Gunars C — Google review
This park is immaculate! Gorgeous setting for RV with a lot of mountain bike trails. They are marked very well too! This is a definite must stop campground.

Lake Lurleen is so beautiful and tranquil with stunning views. We were very impressed with the ease of parking our camper. Peacful place to fish. Also, it is a great place to camp if you are going to a University of Alabama game. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful place! The beach is very nice as well and the lake is extremely calm and relaxing. The fish weren't biting much but that didn't matter. Our two kids enjoy the state park so much they want to come back. The bathroom were okay. The staff was very helpful and eager to make our stay great. We stayed in the primitive camping area. It was one a good slope and the sites were really close to each other but only 3 of the 6 sites were used so it wasnt to bad.

Historic area. Cute quick spot. I wish the tether ball was in a different spot!! Too many tree roots to enjoy it! But still a fun little stop during our tour of Tuscaloosa!!

This was a neat little spot to visit for a brief history lesson. Unfortunately, the museum was closed & we couldn't find any information about their hours during our visit. Capitol Park is a part of the Tuscaloosa civil rights history trail. There is a map located at the front side parking access to the left of the museum showing other locations that are also a part of the trail as well.

A quick stop to see the ruins, there isn’t much information about all of it but it’s cool to see.
Zane M — Google review
Saddened to see such an important part of history being destroyed. Kids using the ruins as a stone play ground. I actually witnessed one girl up on a wall kicking off pieces of the ruins. Other kids were bouncing baseballs against other walls. This was a supervised group of children. Something needs to be done or it will not be here much longer. Besides the disrespect of the ruins the park was very nice.

Historic Drish House

Event venue
Wedding venue
The Historic Drish House, originally constructed in 1837 for Dr. John Drish, stands as a testament to Tuscaloosa's early history. The mansion was built by skilled slave artisans under the direction of Drish, who was not only a successful physician but also worked as a building contractor. The house is now available for events and has garnered praise for its beautiful grounds and classic interior design, including chandeliers and a bride and groom suite.
Highly recommend! We rented The Historic Drish House for our daughter’s wedding. Nikka and Deanna walked us through the planning process and went above and beyond to make her day perfect! The Drish House is absolutely beautiful and the tent is perfect for the reception.
Wendy T — Google review
I hosted my husband a surprise Masquerade 30th Party at the Historic Drish House and we utilized the tent right beside it. This venue was top notch. For one, they have so much decor that they willingly let you have access to at no additional charge as well as the table linens, arch backdrops, etc. I didn’t have to book an event designer because the staff at the Drish House done everything ! This could literally be your one stop shop. The cost is very reasonable compared to other venues In Tuscaloosa. Jessica was my event coordinator, and from day one she’s been very responsive. You would think you’re her only client because she’s that responsive. She was very thorough and worked with me to ensure it was just what I wanted. If you’re looking for a nice venue and communications matters to you, look no further! This is it, book them!!! 👏🏽👏🏽
Chaterika M — Google review
Events at the Drish House are always special. The actors/waiters were talented, funny, and efficient. The atmosphere and chosen Poe stores were appropriately creepy. The last 3 cocktails were delicious. The first was too watered down likely due to timing and logistics of the show. I highly recommend the experience! Thanks for bringing to Ttown.

I recently hosted my 50th birthday 1920’s Gatsby Murder mystery party at the Drish House. It was such a memorable event! Nika was a dream to work with, very knowledgeable, good recommendations and decorated the space beautifully! She was accessible, and helped coordinate with the caterer and event group. It was a seamless event, where I was able to basically just show up and enjoy the event! I highly recommend this space/venue for whatever your needs! Check them out!

Getting married at The Historic Drish house was an absolute dream!! Not only is it a beautiful, charming, southern venue. But from beginning to end they made the process smooth and stress free. They offer so much—from decor, linens, tables and chairs, to planning services. They truly are a one stop shop! We are so so thankful that we chose them to be in charge of the most important day of our lives. They helped my dream wedding become a reality! Will recommend them forever and ever!!!

I love love love this venue! Our wedding was beautiful and having the indoor ceremony with an outdoor reception was perfect for an evening wedding. The staff was extremely helpful and kind. It was such a joy to host my mom's special birthday celebration at The Historic Drish House! I love the history and the beauty of this space and it was enhanced at this event. Both Nika and Jessica D. were a pleasure to work with from beginning to end. Jessica, my event coordinator, spent time listening to my vision throughout the months and helped pull it all together! She literally rolled out the red carpet!! She answered all my questions in a timely and professional manor, calmed any anxiety, and solved any challenges that arose. I highly recommend this beautiful and historic venue for your next special event.

Sokol Park, also known as Munny Sokol, offers a mix of wide-open spaces and wooded trails for various outdoor activities. Visitors can enjoy frisbee, football, and even off-road biking on the 2.2-mile path. The park is not just a sports complex; it also features hiking and mountain biking trails of varying difficulty levels with multiple loops for extended hikes.
Very nice PARA park within Tuscaloosa County. Walking trails, extensive children’s playground, baseball/softball fields, soccer fields and a dog park. Lots of parking.
Marsha R — Google review
The playground is GREAT! I was very disappointed that the huge gates were bolted open. I think there should be gates to keep the children inside the play area. We always watch our grandchildren, but a gate with a working latch would make it safer for everyone. My grandchildren live in Huntsville and the parks in Huntsville have working gates. Many parents and childcare workers have multiple children to monitor. I just know that a gate would improve this valuable addition to Tuscaloosa.

Dog park
Will May Dog Park, situated within Sokol Park, offers fenced-in spaces for both small and large dogs, along with a training yard. The park provides ample amenities such as water fountains (turned off in winter), benches, covered picnic tables, and clean bathrooms. It is well-maintained and features separate areas for different dog sizes.
Very nice park with plenty of space but there’s a guy who has a Belgian malinois (German shepherd) with a red frisby who will attack other dogs just having fun. He’s there like daily so watch out
Ryan — Google review
This park is great. The PARA staff? Not. We pulled up today, 4/7/24, and there was one dog in the big dog park. The one big dog charged the gate and was being territorial of the park. My dogs hair rose up, so Tiffany the park ranger started screaming to get my dogs out. The other dog CHARGED MY TWO YEAR OLD and Tiffany did nothing and just sat there. She called the cops. (In which she got told she was wrong) Made comments to the other woman how our vicious dogs should be put down. Our dogs frequent dog parks in this area and never show aggression. Dogs hair rising is not aggression. Dogs charging other dogs and humans is. We’ll stick to good dog, where the staff know dog behavior.
Mariah K — Google review
If you want your dog to get attacked this a good place to go😃When everyone and their mom brings their dog it gets out of control. It’s not just the dogs as well the owners have no awareness to control their dog. People need to start having more control over their dog. My dog was bit today after roaming around aimlessly and being playful. Surprise surprise the owner of these pack of German shepherds does nothing. Don’t recommend if you are looking to have fun with a nice dog.

Stayed here for one night. Really comfortable stay! We had the suite and everyone had space for the things. Had to use the hide-a-bed and was told it was comfortable. Complimentary breakfast was outstanding! Staff were so friendly and helpful. If I’m ever in town again, this is my go to place!

Had a great experience at this hotel. The rooms were well done and the property was generally well maintained. The staff is accommodating and very friendly. Accidentally left my contact solution at home and they didn't sell toiletries in the market. When I inquired about the contact solution, the manager informed me that they didn't have any. However, Lashanda (the manager) went into the office and got a spare bottle of solution from her purse so that I would not have to go back out to get any. On game days they have free non-alcoholic drinks all day. Also, the location is hard to beat as it's easy walking distance to much of what downtown Tuscaloosa has to offer.

I stayed at this Hilton property about a week ago. The stay was very nice up until we checked out. We mistakenly left behind a personal item in the closet. I attempted to contact management by phone and email after the front desk staff was unable to help with this issue. The Embassy staff's response lead me to believe that they refuse to help locate personal items left behind. This has been the worst experience every with a Hilton property. After several days of the run around, I sent my son to the hotel,. We were finally able to speak with management. This was the manager that has ignored emails and phone calls. She immediately knew who I was when I mentioned my missing items. She also provide one of the worst excuses for not being able to locate my item. Those two details helped me realize that this manager made the professional decision to ignored my plea asking for her assistance. While, her excuse make me believe two things go on at this Embassy Hotel. First, house keeping does not clean rooms thoroughly. Second, the staff keep personal items mistakenly left behind by guest. Both belief are horrible to assume. basically, it is unimaginable to think that the management supports the partial cleaning of rooms and the staff preventing guest from retrieving their personal items mistakenly left behind. This whole incident make me wonder if the staff is going through my personal items when I was not in my room. r/ EMK

I had to unexpectedly extend my stay. Management was great at working with me on a day to day basis, specifically Lashanda. All the staff has been so friendly, even offering prayers for my family. Close to campus and great restaurants. I look forward to seeing new renovations on my next visit.

Good location! My room was very nice and clean. I couldn't get the room to warm up. The pool is indoors, which is a plus, but it wasn't heated as I was told it would be. The service was great! I will stay again.

Worse customer service ever! I made a booking and realized 5 minutes after that it was the wrong location, so I contacted the hotel to try to cancel the reservation, mind you the reservation was made around 1130PM. The front seat answered and stated that only a manager can cancel the reservation, and told me that they will ask the manager. I never heard back from them and I sent them an email and they still refused to cancel or give me a refund. I never even reached the hotel. I understand that the booking had no cancellation, but I should at least be able to get an explanation or response since I was charged the full amount. I even made the booking at such a late time where no one would come and try to book a room, it was close to midnight!

It’s actually become a top stop for folks that are returning in to Tuscaloosa. We stop in at least once a week. You should as well!

The location on rice mine is always clean and I love the music they play over the speaker too...I wonder what radio station that is.. my food is always fresh and hot plus I get excellent customer service..all I can say is keep up the good work 👏 I recommend this location to all of my friends and family!!!

This place has gone so far downhill ever since the kids took over. Do they not serve meat anymore? My last couple of trips I don’t think I was given enough beef to combine into a single burrito. So little beef that the tortilla deflates completely. Sad to see how far they’ve fallen.

Had to take the food back 3 times and spilt cheese dip all over the food and wrappers.
