Visitors rave about the delicious breakfast options such as eggs benedicts, omelets, gyros, and Turkish doner kebabs. Great food here! Best pizza I’ve had. Prices were very reasonable, staff was friendly and the food came out so fast. We had breakfast and dinner here. The eggs Benedict with trout was delicious! As well as the raspberry danish French toast. I can’t recommend this place enough. Can’t wait to come back here when we’re in town next!

This place was such a pleasant surprise! When we walked in, the atmosphere gave me a Soup/Sandwich/Salad kind of vibe. We were greeted warmly and seated right away. When I saw the menu I loved seeing all the options… and options for hearty meals! 🥾After hiking 7 miles during the day, and eating cold sandwiches, see a full menu of fabulously yummy options made me so happy! If you are dietary restricted, there is plenty of menu items you can select so that you can eat and be full. 🥰 The restaurant is clean, service was attentive and helpful, and the food is delicious! Next trip to Bayfield, we will be back!💯

We had a fantastic breakfast at the Many Penny Bistro in Bayfield. The food was outstanding! The seafood omelet was phenomenal, and the eggs Benedict were perfectly cooked. For the sides, the hash browns were perfectly crispy. We also loved the raspberry fritter French toast, but my favorite was the wild rice and raspberry toast. Many Penny Bistro is a must-try for breakfast if you're in the area!

This is an amazing restaurant option in Bayfield. We visited for dinner on back to back days. Great food. Good vegetarian options. Loved their veggie pizza, black bean burger and Alfredo pasta. The bartender made us mocktails even though it wasn't on the menu based on the "Bayfield Sunrise" cocktail. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
Kannan D — Google review
Loved it. I always come here when I am in Bayfield guaranteed to be good. I am never disappointed. The service was excellent we had a young guy. He was very patient & very polite like most people in Wisconsin are. I live in Wisconsin. I had the crispy chicken wrap which they fried. It was excellent I wish I could get one in Polk county where I live. The bar & restaurant is adorable. I posted some pictures. Prices are reasonable for Bayfield. Wisconsin is reasonable @ restaurants generally.

Wonderful restaurant. Pizza fries were great. And the whitefish liver was great and unique. Tasted a bit like fried beef to me which was unexpected and went well with the veggies they served it with. Highly recommend.
Daniel B — Google review
What's not to like? Fantastic meals, attentive servers and a lightening fast kitchen. We went twice on our short trip to Bayfield and had some really tasty food. Don't miss the biscuits and gravy for breakfast and pizza for dinner.
Beth R — Google review
My traveling crew ate there twice. All the food was great. Burgers cooked to order, fresh grill whitefish, generous salad and fabulous pizza. I dare you and a friend or 2 to eat a 20" pizza of your choice.

Apostle Islands Sea Cave Tours offer a variety of options for exploring the stunning sea caves and natural wonders of the area. Visitors can choose from partial, full-day, or overnight kayak trips with different companies located across the island. Families with kids can find kid-friendly tours that cater to their needs, providing an enjoyable experience for both children and adults. Knowledgeable guides lead informative tours, ensuring safety and engagement throughout the excursion.
Jimmy was a great guide! You can tell he has a passion and love for the water. We ended up having to reschedule due to weather which was no big deal. Jimmy offered some great spots for us to grab lunch instead. Soon after we sat down for lunch, there was a thunderstorm that rolled through which just goes to show his knowledge of the water conditions despite what the weather apps say. When we finally did go out for our tour, Jimmy did an excellent job guiding us to the caves. They were very neat and a great way to enjoy the beauty that Lake Superior has to offer while in the area. Would recommend. Very happy with adding this adventure to our weekend getaway.

What a wonderful experience. Every minister of the tour was so beautiful and relaxing. It was our tour guide that really made the trip special. We kayaked with Xavier - he gave us all the history on the area as we paddled along. His personality shined as he got my 10 year old niece and 70 year old mom through a sea cave. He made us feel safe and comfortable the entire trip. A truly talented and genuine soul. Would do it again in a heartbeat!

The Grand Tour crew were great. Loved the tour. Saw a couple lighthouses and the sea caves were really cool. Highly recommend if you're going to the area.

Had a really enjoyable experience kayaking at night! Jack was super informative and the lake was extremely calm! No restroom available make sure to pre pee. We brought our 87-year-old mother along cuz she loves to kayak and she loved it too. 3-person kayak worked perfectly.

My son and I took the 2nd easiest tour, 'Houghton Point Full Sea Caves' that is advertised with 5 caves. We had to reschedule last minute because of high winds forecasted on the original date we booked, but we ended up being the only 2 with the guide! Rescheduling was super easy, it was done via text. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, giving tidbits of information as we paddled. He gave us all the time we needed going in and out of each cave, even took some pictures of us on my phone to capture the moment. I'd definitely come back and use their tour services again!
Debbie S — Google review
We enjoyed our tour from Lena! The views of the sea caves were beautiful, perfect distance and we had the chance to see a bald eagle.
Emmelyn B — Google review
Trip delivered exactly what we expected. It was the bunny hill of kayaking and sea cave exploration. If you’re a novice or concerned about kayaking, this is a good trip for you.
Jim B — Google review
My friends and I had a truly wonderful time on our recent kayak trip. We were blessed with perfect weather, but what truly made the experience exceptional was our guide. From start to finish, our guide was absolutely amazing. They were incredibly knowledgeable an had a great sense of humor and made everyone feel comfortable, even those who were new to kayaking. We felt completely safe and well-cared for throughout the entire trip. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. We highly recommend this trip to anyone looking for a memorable and fun adventure on the water!

The Copper Trout is a charming restaurant located in downtown Bayfield, offering a delightful dining experience with its array of Italian-American dishes and local seafood specialties. The menu features an assortment of options including pizza, steak, and signature entrees such as the Wild Trout Madeline. Using fresh ingredients sourced from Lake Superior and Northern Wisconsin, the restaurant prides itself on delivering authentic flavors in every dish.
Stopped early for dinner with not wait for a table. Had the smoked trout crostini with lemon sauce. Had a light smoke flavor and crispy bread. The tortellini with beef tips was nicely flavored and the mushroom pasta was good. Dessert was a huge piece of carrot cake and a chocolate marquis with ice cream. Service staff were friendly and prompt.

We went on a Tuesday at 5:30, waited about 5 min for a table and were sat down. For an app I ordered the Whitefish Chowder which was a nice, sweet chowder compared to a traditional clam chowder. For the meal I ordered the Grilled Whitefish and it was lovely, a nicely grilled and nicely seasoned piece of tender fish, and the veggies and rice were cooked to perfection. Worth the wait to get a table! Was definitely one of the nicest meals we had in Bayfield!
Nick E — Google review
One of the best places to eat in the area and certainly the best in Bayfield that we have eaten at. Service by Zoe was great and she was happy and energetic and helpful. Food…Delicious. We had numerous items and all were great, flavorful, well balanced dishes. Anyone who doesn’t try the special is a fool because mine was excellent. We had the… Whitefish Tacos Wild Mushroom Bruschetta Superior Chowder Superior Supreme Pizza Basil Pesto with Lamb chops, Cherry Tomatoes over Fettuccini Lemon Cheesecake Pecan Ball (think turtle sundae)

Stop here! The most amazing part of this experience...our server Crystal! She was SO hospitable, kind, hilarious and made our night! Ask for her when you go! The food? Delicious! My personal faves of the night were the mushroom 🍄 bruschetta and the mushroom pasta! Wow. I highly reccomend them both. Surprisingly the fish soup just tasted like ham? Otherwise...I highly recommend this experience and you should stop in!
Kristen M — Google review
Wow! Outstanding communication between the staff. Super busy, long wait list around 5-6pm, but by golly worth it. Our server was quick to bring us our drinks and attended us throughout the meal despite the dinner rush. The trout was moist, fresh, and full of flavor. I would definitely eat here if you’re in the area.

Went for dinner on a Tuesday. No reservations, wait was nearly one hour but their pagers allow you to go up to 3 blocks from the restaurant. Service was great. Alicia was friendly and got our order entirely correct. Mushroom bruschetta appetizer and the whitefish cakes were delicious. Whitefish in entrees was mildly ‘fishy’ tasting. The sausage tortellini was favorite entree of all ordered at our table. Dessert… yum. Carrot cake looked to die for and strawberry rhubarb pie was totally delicious. If I could give 4.5 stars I would, mainly because of the fish. For a small-town restaurant, they do an excellent job and food is pretty darn good!

The Copper Trout in the boutique town of Bayfield, Wisconsin is an outstanding farm-to-table restaurant showcasing locally-sourced ingredients and innovative cuisine that celebrates the flavors and culinary traditions of the region. Smoked Trout Crostini is incredible! Thank you.

Our experience with The Copper Trout was above and beyond what we expected! Our choice of meals were outstanding. I had the tortellini sausage pasta and cheese curds and my wife choose the wild mushroom pasta with salad and fish chowder soup, neither one of us were not disappointed, it was soooooo delicious and well worth the stop 😋 many other menu items to choose from! Enjoy 😉

Coffee shop
Located in the charming town of Bayfield, Wonderstate Coffee is a must-visit spot for coffee enthusiasts. The shop offers a variety of organic coffee beans and delightful sweet coffee concoctions, such as the Salted Caramel Cold Brew and homemade maple latte. In addition to their exceptional drinks, they also serve delicious food pairings like lox and granola.
A busy coffee shop in the heart of Bayfield. I am not a coffee aficionado however I always love the matcha and seasonal drinks here. It is always busy but service is excellent and well organized. They have a good selection of beans to buy and some gift items. There is always plenty of seating. The only thing to watch is the hours can be a little erratic out of season!
Sarah — Google review
Be prepared to wait! They are not equipped to handle multiple orders at once. We spent about 25$ on two coffees and a pastry. The rhubarb matcha was good! Just the extremely slow service was disappointing.
Hannah K — Google review
Cute little coffee shop downtown! The food is a little pricey- a bagel sandwich was $12 and with meat it was $14.50. The bagels were a little firm and crunch, but the egg and garlic aioli was delicious. The iced latte was great and came out super fast! They have a good selection of beverages and house made sandwiches in their refrigerator in the front. They also have some fresh pastries such as muffins and scones.
Hannah M — Google review
Absolutely loved this coffee shop! I’ve tried their coffee with my Trade coffee membership and it’s delicious. It was great to find this coffee shop while in town. I had the iced mocha and it was amazing. I subbed oak milk. Definitely recommend this place. They have cute merch too for sale and I saw they were voted roaster of the year.

At Wonderstate Coffee in Bayfield I had a delicious hot chai latte, a toasted everything bagel and a cardamom cookie. I enjoyed everything including the atmosphere. It was the only place open at 7AM on Saturday.

Order taker was great, but others Not friendly at all. Coffee was good and received quickly. but the food took for ever. I wish there was another coffee shop.
Shamil R — Google review
We stopped in here twice during a recent visit to Bayfield. The shop is in a great location. It was very VERY busy both days. The coffee was pretty tasty and the savory scone was nice… Unfortunately, the gal at the register informed us there was no way to warm it up. Room temp scone = three stars. Also ordered everything bagel with cream cheese… Took nearly 15 minutes to come out from the kitchen. Barely toasted. I’d go for coffee, but maybe get your breakfast bite somewhere else…
Anna S — Google review
Where do I start. The coffee itself is fantastic and prepared properly as expected...just like the other Wonderstate locations downstate. Just like the cafe in Madison the staff is announcing the seating area is closing 1 hour before closing time and they are pushing you out the door. I know when you close and I'm going to be gone before you do so let me stay and warn me 15 minutes before you are closing. Pay your staff the extra it requires for them to clean AFTER you close and help make the customers feel valued. Next, there are two drinks in the coffee world that should ALWAYS be served in a demitasse (tiny ceramic/porcelain cup) am espresso shot and a traditional espresso macchiato. You all should know that because you work at an upscale roaster's coffee shop. I didn't ask for the cup with my macchiato because I shouldn't have to so I got a paper cup. Then, you serve my friend the last 1/4 cup of brewed coffee as a free cup with purchase of 2 bags of coffee? Yes, you brewed another fresh one for him and he actually liked that one. The flavor profiles were quite different. So...make fresh coffee. Seems like general laziness from staff. The only location of Wonderstate worth going to is Viroqua.

The staff was the best, the fish tacos were amazing!! I added cheese and didn't want coleslaw and bell peppers. The fish was from lake superior so that's a plus. 😊😊😊

We had a great time at Morty's. It was standing room only after a few minutes after the Packer kick off. They had free tailgate food in the back. Whenever the Packers scored a touchdown, they handed out free shots of Apple Pucker. The drinks and food from the menu was very reasonably priced. Definitely someplace we would go again when in the area.

So happy to find a place open on a Monday night past 9 pm. We had drinks, fish sandwich and Cajun crab dip. All very tasty.! The bartenders were very friendly! Great experience overall.

Great food and service! Bartenders were nice and food came out quick. We had the whitefish special, Thai soup, lobster bisque.
Hannah K — Google review
My husband and I stopped into Morty’s for an early dinner. We found a table quickly and were greeted by our waitress, though the interaction started off a bit unpleasant—she told us about her “worst day” working there yesterday and how she had to force guests to order food if they wanted to stay, which made me a little uneasy for the rest of our visit. That said, the food itself was excellent! We shared a burger, tots, and wings—the bourbon BBQ wings were incredible. Drinks were cheap, and overall it’s a solid spot for good bar food, even if the service experience was a little rocky.

What a great place to stop! We did the boat cruise, then stopped in for lunch; a bit soggy from the rain. We had no expectations and had a wonderful experience! Greunke's First Street Inn & Dining is a charming country inn with a 1940s-themed restaurant and bar, offering cozy rooms and complimentary parking. The restaurant is highly regarded by both locals and tourists for its delicious breakfast and lunch specials. Visitors have praised the amazing food, including dishes like Reuben sandwiches, chicken fried steak, ribs, hamburgers, meatloaf, and pizza.
During each of my many visits to Greunke’s over the years with family and friends, this restaurant and inn has always been a very special part of my Bayfield experience. Greunke’s is a gem – an oasis for authentic Northwoods hospitality and a showcase for iconic music in pop culture from previous decades. Greunke’s is a “must” for anyone who appreciates an enjoyable departure from homogeneous, me-too dining or lodging establishments that can be found anywhere across the country.

Was a really cool place to eat at. The antique photos and memorabilia was nice. The trout I had was good, my wife's burger and fries were okay, but it could have been better. She said on a scale of 1 to 5, her burger was a 2.5. Overall, it was worth the stop.
Jason D — Google review
My husband and I stayed at the INN in the Cowboy room. The room was cute with a private toilet but shared showers. The owner was great and communicated well. We were right next to the main door and only heard the door opening and closing on occasion. We really don’t hear any of the other guests. The location is perfect. We walked everywhere and never had to move our car. We ate breakfast at the restaurant. The food was ok. Just typical breakfast. Cool atmosphere and decor. The service from our waitress was great. Some of the other employees were not as friendly looking. We didn’t eat there again, so I can’t say how dinners are. But if you need a place to stay that’s within walking distance, comfortable and affordable, the INN was perfect.

If I could give negative stars I would. We waited 45 minutes, didn’t get all our food, were lied to about our wait time, and didn’t even get a discount on our “meal” for horrible service. The table next to us ordered a pizza, ate it and left. And we still hadn’t received ours when we ordered the same time they did. When we asked for the update as that table was leaving, we were told 10 more minutes. In that time we asked for the bill as our kids were getting antsy and already playing outside, no discount or apologies, we were told pizza takes about 20 minutes and suddenly ten other pizzas were in the ovens. What happened to ten minutes? Then the manager wasn’t going to give any discounts- we literally had to tell her we will be walking out or give a discount. They took off the pizza fries. I clarified when they would be ready just to be told they still hadn’t gone in the oven!! What a whirlwind of seven minutes!! And then to realize we didn’t even get a discount! Or an apology! $25 for a small plate of whimpy fries, jalapeno poppers, 3 cokes and a juice. 20/10 would not recommend.
Lindsay S — Google review
I usually don't take the time to slam a place after a bad experience but this time the service and food was so substandard that I feel compelled to warn others. The whitefish sandwiches that my wife and I had here where without question the worst that we have experienced anywhere. In addition, the waitress was seemingly unable to properly do her job and the tip we left her reflected that. The 'fine food' neon signage on the building exterior couldn't be further from the truth! Avoid this place by all means!
Chaz H — Google review
I ate at this iconic restaurant and had their fried whitefish livers appetizer and broiled whitefish dinner main course. Homemade mashed potatoes (choice of potatoes) and coleslaw comes with it. Both were delicious! You cannot find breaded and fried whitefish livers anyplace else and they are amazing with a little squeeze of lemon. They also serve pan sautéed whitefish livers with peppers and onions a more common preparation in the Bayfield area. These livers are a local delicacy and a must try! Service was spot on. The food was cooked perfectly. Shout out to Chef Cass!

The restaurant offers a variety of seafood dishes and regional beers, and features an outdoor deck for patrons to enjoy. The chefs draw inspiration from the locally-grown produce and fresh catch of the day in Bayfield, incorporating items like fresh berries, apples, and local produce into their daily menu.

Went here for July 4th fireworks. The location is good that it’s right next to the harbor. I did find street parking spots not too long driving around. Didn’t see public parking though. I like the food. See my photo captions. I minus one star because the restaurant is a bit old but service and food is good 👍🏻

We stopped here after getting off of the Apostle Islands Cruise and had a very good meal. We started the meal with a bloody mary and cheese curds. The cheese curds were excellent. The breading was crispy and not greasy. The ranch was extremely good. The bloody mary was very good as well. For the meal, we had the white fish po boy and the fish tacos. The po boy was a very generous portion of fresh whitefish, fried perfectly. It had coleslaw to provide a creamy, crunchy texture, and the bang bang sauce on it tied it all together perfectly! The fish tacos were very good. They were pretty spicy. The fish was blackened well, but you could still taste the fresh fish. The kimchi provided a spicy acidity to the dish, and the tortillas were charred perfectly. I highly recommend stopping in here and trying some of their fresh fish dishes when in Bayfield.

Definitely must go here if you're here Lake Superior whitefish with their light breading is fantastic! I'm a coleslaw snob, I think it reflects on the establishment. Pier Plaza has it down in their own way... excellent Great view of the harbor, clean and cozy Tony, my server, was awesome, recommended the fish, of course😅 I'm coming back for a burger, and I'll post another review

Our experience here wasn't great. We had to wait about 45 minutes to be seated on a weeknight, which is what it is-that happens and we know the restaurant can't control how long we wait. However, once we were seated and ordered it took another ~45 minutes for our food to come out. Once we finally had our food, it was a huge letdown. The protein bowl was nearly inedible-the only reason I ate any of it was because I was so hungry. It was a very strange mix of flavorless black beans, slimy edamame, plain white rice, and flavorless sweet potatoes, topped off with a few drizzles of a weird sauce and (what I think was) a Beyond Burger. I've been a vegetarian for over 30 years and I've never had something quite this weird and truly gross. Please take it off the menu. My husband's pasta dish wasn't much better--it was pasta with a rather flavorless sauce with a whole bunch of powdered Cajun seasoning on top of it. He also had the Brussels sprouts and they were bad-complete mush. We did have really good French fries! Honestly, this restaurant should probably just stick to fish and meat and forget the vegetarian dishes. From other reviews, it seems that their fish dishes are great. So if you're looking for meat/fish (and French fries!) maybe give it a try. If you're looking for vegetarian options, definitely try somewhere else. Our server was great and clearly worked hard--she was the only server for the whole patio on a busy night.

Pizza restaurant
Sgt. Pepperoni's is a surprising gem for pizza lovers, offering delicious and freshly made pizzas with a variety of toppings. The staff impresses by tossing the dough right in front of customers, ensuring a high-quality crust. Despite being primarily a to-go place, there's also an option to dine on the deck. The consistent crunch-to-chewy ratio of the crust and perfect balance of cheese, toppings, and sauce make it a must-try for anyone craving great pizza.
Stopped here in Sept 2023, the place itself is carry out or delivery, BUT you can go next door to Greunke's Inn and order their pizza for dine in. I loved the word play with the Beatles SGT. Pepper, so we had to try it. Was not disappointed
Stevie H — Google review
We ended up ordering a pizza to go because Greunke’s was closed and the other nearby restaurants had an hour wait. We were happy to have a hot meal ready within 20 minutes! We got a sausage and onion pizza and it was good! There is NO SEATING here. Just a window to order and pick up.
Nicole Z — Google review
a little hole in the wall place like we used to have back in our home town, so I knew it would be good. Pizza was very good 👍 sad we didn't have room to finish it or time for left overs!
Mark V — Google review
I guess you get what you pay for here (based on the Google$ signs). I spent $20 on a small “Summer Special” not only do they use canned ingredients such as their mushrooms, but they leave you waiting on their front steps after their pizza has been made for 20 minutes instead of bring it out to you. Apparently they don’t care if they stay if you stay at their lodging, no discount and no better service. I guess it serves as a good reminder not to tip in advance for service! Ignore those tip jars make them work to serve!

Every time I go to Bayfield going to Sgt. P's is an absolute must! Some of the best pizza I have ever had. Staff is always friendly and even gave my dad a nickname cuz of frequent we go. If you are a local or tourist, this is the place to eat in Bayfield!

Delicious pizza!!! The crust was consistent with the crunch to chewy ratio. There was the perfect amount of cheese, toppings and sauce. I was very happy with the staff experience and the food. Great place to stop in.

Wouldn't allow me to place an order even though it was 40 minutes before closing time on a Wednesday evening. Claimed they were out of ingredients. Not true. They just didn't want to cook another pizza. Your loss.

Pizza was very good, an excellent value and plenty of toppings. They make the dough and sauce there. Pizza was baked quickly and service was fine.

We eat at Wild by Nature every time we come to Bayfield and have never been disappointed! We especially love the flavor of their tortillas, and how filling and delicious the burritos always are. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the food is quick and always piping hot and fresh. The perfect place in Bayfield to stop for a quick, tasty, and healthy bite with friendly service.

Excellent breakfast burrito. Easy to eat on a park bench. Cookies are delicious too. Granola was great. Best tasting food in the area. Very fast service as well. Great option for a picnic in the park, a hike, boat ride.

Great sandwiches. But breakfast burritos are not made fresh and are just reheated in the microwave. The tortilla ends up dry and flavorless. Would expect them to be made fresh.
Jack F — Google review
Their wild rice and spinach salad was great, and more filling than I anticipated! The sandwich selection is not huge but they have the standards. A solid choice for food on the go.

Perfect for something quick and light. The staff is friendly and the sandwiches are always delicious! We've stopped by a few times now to grab something to eat and go sit by the lakeshore and have never been disappointed.

Day 2

West side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the west side side of town. Start the day off with Apostle Islands Cruises, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Apostle Islands Area Campground. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Apostle Islands Cruises Boat Tour is a must-do activity when visiting Bayfield, Wisconsin. The town serves as the gateway to the stunning Apostle Islands National Lakeshore and offers an array of attractions and events. Visitors can explore Victorian homes, shop for local art and souvenirs, or learn about the area's maritime history. In addition to kayaking and boating around the Apostle Islands, tourists can enjoy a 2.5-hour sightseeing cruise offered by Apostle Islands Cruises.
What an amazing cruise with spectacular views. The captain was very informative. The employees were very friendly and helpful. We saw a bald eagle and an eagle nest with a baby eagle. It got a bit cold sitting on the top deck (most of the people on the top deck moved to the bottom, enclosed deck). They offer coffee, hot chocolate, water, sodas, and snacks aboard the cruise. The town where the cruise is located is quaint. We had so much fun exploring and highly recommend.
Deanna L — Google review
We went on a very hot day. It was about 90° out so once we were out on the water, it was about 70 so any day that is not incredibly warm. You’re definitely gonna wanna wear pants or bring a blanket. On the first floor there are a lot of little horseflies that like to bite your feet so I would also recommend bringing bug spray. On the top deck, even though it is very breezy if the sun is out the entire time you need to wear sunscreen, you don’t feel warm because of the breeze, but the sun will still tan you. The tour takes about three hours long. The captain had a lot of great history and knowledge of all of the islands it was a very smooth boat ride. Bathrooms were very clean on the boat. It is a very popular tour you would benefit from getting tickets ahead of time online.
Samantha M — Google review
This tour gives you a glimpse of one of America's most beautiful Gems💎 We enjoyed the Captain and the deck hands giving tidbits of info on the history of the Islands and Lake Superior. Make sure to bring a Jacket as it gets chilly on the Lake, I had one and still managed to get an awful cold afterwards! You can bring adult beverages along, I'd suggest one of those soft cooler bags! There is tea, bottled water and little snacks aboard for $2. Definitely worth the money to see these beautiful views!
CREOLE L — Google review
What a great experience, I wasn't to excited to be honest but ended up having a really good time very professional company the crew was very nice and helpful the captain was great, his dad jokes are top tier lol. It's a long ride about 3 hours total I took snacks and waters with me but they do have sodas, waters, chips and other small stuff for sale on the boat. The day we visited was very windy about 20 mph winds so the waves where high the outside/top seating was getting splashed pretty hard, fun at first but got way to wet in a couple of minutes thankfully there's plenty of room inside the ship , the captain warned us we may not be able to get to devils Island but he told us he would try his best to get us there and in the end he did like I said great captain he shares so much information too very knowledgeable did I mention the dad jokes?. great experience all in all I'm planing on doing one of the other tours just because this one was so fun.
Erik S — Google review
From start to finish, the Grand Tour was downright excellent! Captain Dave, who has been doing this for 33 years, was very informative and added little tidbits of local history, which made the tour interesting, and not boring at all. Everything moved on time and in an organized manner, staff greeted you and said goodbye to you when the tour was over. If you want to sit on the outside top deck, get in line early because these tours book up fast! Also, no matter what the weather, there are some very cold and windy spots, which is to be expected, so bring jackets as recommended by the online FAQ's. The boat rotates to highlight tour features so everyone has a chance to see the sites. All in all, I would highly recommend the Grand Tour!
Vicki C — Google review
Highly recommend. The seating is not ideal but the guide does good job of spinning the boat around so both sides can see. This was very informative and the views were like no other.
Tracey M — Google review
Awesome cruise with a convenient bathroom on board! The fall foliage was truly gorgeous and really elevated the experience, just make sure you dress warm this time of year since the wind really chills your bones!
Christina S — Google review
Fun cruise. We found a spot in the back left side of the boat where we were able to have really good views of all the islands and we had a nice windbreak. Only negative wax that we were not able to hear the captain at all while underway.

Thank you for an unforgettable evening!

We took a 2.25-hour sailing tour with All Hands Sailing on the 5:45 PM trip, and it was absolutely amazing. It ended up being just my sister and me on board with our captain, Marlin, which made the experience feel personal and special. Marlin has a wealth of knowledge and years of sailing experience, and we even got the chance to help sail the boat ourselves! The late afternoon weather was perfect—cool with steady winds—and the scenery was stunning. It was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. I would highly recommend All Hands Sailing to anyone considering this excursion!

Kelly A — Google review
It was a great experience. Several in our group were not experienced sailors and our captain did an excellent job of preparing them for the winds we were fortunate to encounter, ensuring an enjoyable trip. The boat is responsive yet forgiving and fun to sail and the galley allowed us the opportunity to show off our Culinary magic.

We just got home from a 4 night trip to Bayfield, WI that included a few days fishing and a day of sailing with All Hands. We had the absolute best day with Bronte out on the Raptor. My Father In-Law Steve owns a smaller Catalina, and it was so fun to see him experience sailing with the Raptor and someone as experienced as Bronte. We had every single type of weather thrown our way, which only made it even more memorable. I can't say enough how enjoyable it was, and if you're even remotely looking at a sailing option in the Apostle Islands, you will not find a better company than All Hands Sailing. We'll be back!

My husband and I enjoyed the most incredible half day private sailing charter. I loved that our dog got to join us! We packed our own snacks, a bottle of wine, and some sweets to enjoy at the front of the boat as we sailed through the Apostle Island National Lakeshore. We sailed to the fedora shipwreck & Oak Island— loved it. They took us out on the dingy to get a closer look. Such an incredible adventure we will never forget. Huge thank you to Captain Brontë!! Iron Bridge Trail

4.6
(141)
Hiking area
Iron Bridge Trail is a short but challenging hike that begins at an old iron bridge in Bayfield. The trail follows a wooded ravine, leading to an overlook with a waterfall. The path is narrow and includes slippery steps and rocks, so caution is advised. Despite its short length of three quarters of a mile, the trail offers beautiful scenery with plenty of resting spots along the way. Hikers should be prepared for steep sections and narrow pathways, as well as the possibility of encountering bugs.
Really cool trail system. Different sections of the trail have different difficulties. Some spots are really steep or stairs. Some spots have a lot of rocks and have creek crossings. *Every junction has a labeled map and arrows for the different destinations. Day hike
August S — Google review
Parking is paid but you can park on the street for free. We did a small hike but there is lots of hiking from this point. Not easy and lots of stairs on hills in the part we hiked. Gorgeous trails though.
Amy M — Google review
Not to miss in Bayfield! Beautiful curated trails, along ridges, with an outlook further north on the rim. Outlook view extends back to Superior! Dog friendly too 🐕‍🦺🐾😀
Chris A — Google review
Beautiful wooded creek trail close to the center of Bayfield with an old iron bridge that spans the ravine. Overall an excellent trail but the stairs, boardwalks and paths are quite narrow: you need to step off the path or take turns on the stairs and boardwalks if you need to pass someone. There are plenty of sitting places to take a rest and enjoy the tumbling creek. If you are not sure-footed you will need a walking pole(s). If you want to cross the bridge rather than just go under it take the school branch off the Gil Larson trail. You will have to walk down the street a little ways to find the bridge crossing, and then there is a path back into the ravine. We then continued on the Gil Larson trail following the creek. My dogs loved crossing the creek multiple times (I was on the stepping stones, they were in the creek). However with 2 greyhounds there was a lot of leash tangling on the multiple narrow stairs which made it hard work. It gets humid in the ravine and you definitely need bug repellent, but the scenery is worth the climb.
Carrie W — Google review
Been to Bayfield many times and never knew this trail existed. Nice short walk in a beautiful ravine that goes under the iron bridge. If you do want to climb up and out by the school, be warned....it is VERY steep with ropes to help you out.
Mandy H — Google review
Trailhead close to town that connects to the 12 miles of Big Ravine trail system. Well maintained, a small waterfall along the way, and multiple options to get off and circle back into town
William R — Google review
Our pictures don't give the beauty of this trail justice. This is easily one of our favorite trails. Make sure you lather yourself in bug spray before you enter the trail, especially if you are walking along the bottom of the ravine.

It's a great place for history lovers and families with kids to explore the dynamic nautical history of Bayfield and the Apostle Islands.
Awesome museum! A must see if you are in the area. This little museum was so informative about the fishing and shipping industry of the area. The gentleman who was working the front desk was very knowledgeable and helpful if you had any questions. We had a great time here and were really glad we came. It is free, but they do appreciate donations. There’s lots of free parking around the corner on a side street.

Captain Abe took our family of 5 out for the 5hr tour in the southern Apostle Islands. We had a phenomenal time sailing. We even got to SUP around one of the sea caves! We saw eagles, frogs and a couple of snakes. We jumped off the boat and played music. Thoroughly enjoyable day - I highly recommend this business!!

Absolutely lovely afternoon sail. Our captain, Dusty was so friendly and extremely patient with our 8 year old son who had a million and one questions. He got 1:1 lessons with Dusty on raising the sails, steering the boat, and learning proper sailing terminology. Top tier experience. Highly recommend!
Michelle W — Google review
Sailing with Dusty was an awesome experience! He was easy and fun to talk to. He let each one of us learn how to drive/steer the boat. I learned so much about sailing, the wind, and water. Was a very peaceful and educational adventure! Definitely bring layers as we went from warm to cool and back to warm with the way the wind hit. Dusty took pictures for us and let my friend and I relax on the pillows at the front of the boat too.

7 -14-23 AM Starling was our sailing boat. She felt like a dream and was polished to a shein of wood and creamy canvas sails. Starling tracked beautifully and gave us a stunning day with perfect weather and winds. Dusty was our captain. He was beyond exemplary as a captain. Dusty was kind, courteous, and extremely tolerant of 3 young, rambunctious children. The kids were allowed to handle the helm and help with the rigging. We moved around the boat with ease due to Dusty's expert instructions It was without a doubt a memorable outing while camping in Bayfield, WI. Thank you, Dusty. Regards, Sally K. (Grandma)

It was also very easy to book with them online. Their website is super easy to navigate.

We enjoyed our sail with Captain Dusty out of Bayfield. He was there early anticipating our arrival. He was full of knowledge and stories. He let us engage in the sail. We highly recommend him.

I dare you to find nicer gentlemen to sail with! Captain Abe and deck hand Josh were a joy to sail the with!! I got the chance to help hoist the sails and learn a bit during my first time sailing, but most of the time was spent relaxing and enjoying the immensely beautiful scenery of the waters surrounding the Apostle Islands. My wife, two friends, and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I'm already counting counting down 'til the next chance I get to go sailing aboard the charming "Starling"! Totally worth it and I would highly recommend booking a trip with True North Sailing Charters!! Since we booked the 5-hour excursion, we opted for the free add-on of sleeping on the boat the night before as it's docked. It was so much fun!! Sure, it's not as luxurious as a hotel, but it was advertised as "camping" out on the boat, which is acurrate. It may not be for some who don't sleep well outside their own bed, the bunks were narrow but I loved it. To me it was worth it to get the full experience and enjoy more time with the boat.  A nice bonus was that we had the evening before sailing to hang out on the boat as well, and this was almost as fun as the sailing trip itself!

Apostle Islands Area Campground is a well-maintained and welcoming camping destination offering various accommodation options such as cabins, yurts, and RV sites. The campground features a private beach, playground, camp store with a variety of items, including clothing and an ice cream shop. Visitors praise the cleanliness of the facilities, particularly the bathrooms and showers which are described as being akin to standing under a gentle waterfall. Families appreciate the kid-friendly amenities like mini-golf and swimming pond area.
We camped at Apostle Islands Area Campground in July 2025. This was our first time camping here. The campground is immaculate. You can tell that the staff take great pride in their property, and they are all very friendly. We stayed in the newer campground area-sites 60 - 100. Sites are terraced and spacious. The bath house had a laundry room with 2 washers and 2 dryers. All machines worked perfectly. Other amenities included a swimming pond, miniature golf course, themed cabins and a store with supplies, firewood, and amazing ice cream. Check in at our section was a breeze as there is a kiosk with envelopes to grab when you arrive. There is also a brewery nearby. Would definitely return.

Fantastic RV Park in a Great Location. Lots to see/do in the nearby areas and great roads for motorcycle cruising. Campgrounds is very nicely spread out with "themed" cabins (pirate ship, schoolhouse, connestoga, etc.). Has a clean pond and beach for swimming and mini golf. Close to Sea Caves National Park and other activities. Would definitely go back to this Campground.

This campground is AMAZING!! It is one of the nicest campgrounds I have ever been to. Everything, including the bathrooms and the grounds, is kept super clean. The entire campground is wonderful, from the RV sites to the specialty cabins, and there are so many little details that make this place special. There is a nice playground, putt putt golf, and a swimming pond. We stayed in a rustic cabin, which is in a very secluded area surrounded by nature. The cabin was adorable, and the mattresses were comfy. It was a very quiet campground and it felt very safe. It's in a beautiful area and close to Bayfield. The owners are very friendly and nice people. I absolutely recommend this campground and would give it 10 stars if that was an option. If we ever make it back to Bayfield, this is #1 on our list.

This large park is set on a hillside with level pull through full hook up sites cut into the hillside. “Downtown” is only a couple of miles away. The cabins were unique with each having an external fantasy theme (see photos). I did see the inside of any of the cabins. The cabins are situated around a swimming pond. The office carries and excellent selection of hard by the scoop ice cream. The bathhouse features spacious modern toilet/shower suites. The odd thing was the shower head is on the high ceiling pointed straight down. The head is adjustable if you can reach it and everybody has their preferred setting. I stood on the small bench to adjust the head to my preference which was pretty precarious. I’m sure management was wondering how they got changed.

Sites are close to level all around for the rigs. Stone pads to park on. Nice forest rings. Great swimming pond by cabins, that are up to rent. I like the quiet of the park everyone seems to respect each other. There is a brewery close by just down the hill really walking distance. Bathrooms are clean and nice for showers.

Water, power, sewer hookups all excellent and well maintained. Area WiFi decent. Bathroom/shower house impeccable and clean! Fantastic staff. Beautiful wooded area with amazing view of Lake Superior. The place to stay if visiting Big Top Chitaqua ( music venue on Mount Ashwabay) - free shuttle ride round trip from campground. Easily accommodated our 30’ toyhauler with ground space for UTV and scooter. Highly recommended!

We stayed at Apostle Islands Area Campground in late August 2025. We were very pleased with this campground. We arrived after several days of rain and our site had washed out a bit and we had trouble leveling the RV. There was not another site available. The owner came to our site and assisted us by putting boards down to drive on as temporary fix. Then, while we were out exploring the area... he brought in sand and gravel and leveled the entire site. It was perfect! He was so thoughtful and helpful. The grounds are very well kept. They really take pride in the place. The bathrooms and showers are so clean! We will go back to this campground the next time we are in the area. It's close to everything you may want to do in the area.. hiking, shopping, restaurants and island hopping.

Fish restaurant
Hoop's Fish & Chips Dockside is a newly opened restaurant located in Bayfield, WI, just a short walk from Seagull Bay. Despite being new, it has already gained popularity due to its delicious fried Lake Superior whitefish. The owner is deeply passionate about the business and ensures that the fish served is fresh and of high quality as it is caught daily. In addition to serving great food, the restaurant also offers a scenic view and live music for visitors to enjoy.
Amazing. We love West Coast fish and chips (cod) but this ultra-fresh, Lake Superior white fish is FANTASTIC. Quick, tasty and not laden with grease. Can't beat the service, food or view! (Note- not easily wheelchair accessible due to gravel driveway leading to service and eating areas)
Meg D — Google review
Came upon this place by happenstance of a remembered google search and a desire for fish for lunch. They only have three options and we chose Lake Superior whitefish grilled with rice. Absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. The eating location is a short pier with shelter should you need it. I would definitely return.

Our first official meal on our mini honeymoon and it did not disappoint! Fish and chips was fabulous. Make sure to try the hard cider (many delicious flavors). Cool spot with great views, nice staff, and QUICK service! Highly recommend to make this a stop if you can.

I thought this place was awesome last summer when I had their fish and chips. Now they have blackened white fish! The perfect place to experience while in Bayfield. It’s on the water and the fish couldn’t get any fresher.
Jamey R — Google review
We had already eaten dinner somewhere else and happened upon this place. We heard the live music and were intrigued! We decided that we were still hungry enough to try a fish & fries basket and we are so glad we did!! It was super yummy!! We loved the atmosphere and wished we ended up here for actual dinner instead!! Service was fast. Only putting that the noise level was loud because of the live music, but we thoroughly enjoyed it and it was ultimately what guided us to the area!!

Discover the must-visit fish and chips shop in Bayfield! They serve delicious, locally sourced white fish, available fried or baked, alongside crispy chips. The dockside location offers stunning views and an exceptional atmosphere. Absolutely worth returning for more!

We visited Hoop's in September based on the Google reviews and had lunch there two days in a row because it was such a great experience! The food was delicious - my wife loved the fried Whitefish while I liked the grilled/blackened - and the atmosphere was great. We spoke with Hoop himself who had been out at 430am catching what he was cooking for us - pretty cool to see this family operation! The dockside location only adds to the character and experience. Go eat here!

Nestled along the picturesque waterfront, The Bayfield Inn offers a relaxed atmosphere with comfortable rooms and suites perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration. Guests can indulge in delightful dining experiences at the on-site restaurant, which features an enticing menu that includes everything from burgers to fresh fish. For those looking to sip cocktails while soaking in stunning views, the rooftop bar is an ideal spot. With its prime location in downtown Bayfield, visitors have easy access to local attractions and other charming eateries nearby.
The rooms are updated and modern with great overlooks of the lake. Literally, just one block from the water - you can get no closer. The restaurant is great, too. The inside restaurant has big windows allowing one to watch the waves while eating breakfast - try the stuffed French toast, it's to die for. The patio is amazing for a libation or two in the evening. Great place, great food in an awesome little town by the lake.

The Bayfield Inn is a stylish spot for breakfast, perfectly located in the heart of the city with stunning views of the lake and pier right from the dining area. While the space isn't overwhelmingly large, it feels open and thoughtfully designed, offering plenty of seating and ample window views for everyone to enjoy a peaceful, scenic morning. The ambiance strikes a balance between chic and cozy, making it an ideal place to start the day. The breakfast menu suited my taste perfectly—well-curated, with a good mix of classics and unique options. My meal was prepared quickly, and the staff were efficient, friendly, and genuinely enthusiastic. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit. It not only made my breakfast decision for tomorrow an easy one, but it also gave me the chance to try something new. Highly recommended!

I can't say anything about the rooms but the food is amazing. It's all home made from scratch. All unique, very fresh. I can't believe I been going to pier plaza for 10 years and just tried this place. This is my new favorite place to go in Bayfield.
Tim S — Google review
We ordered the fish fry and were very disappointed. The white fish fillets were extremely thin and overcooked, while the fries were soggy. We sat on the upper deck, which had a beautiful view, but that couldn't make up for the poor quality of the food and the lack of service from the staff. I'm sorry to say, we won't be back.
Donna T — Google review
If you want to wait more than an hour for your food to come out, this is the place to go. We ordered and appetizer and it never came out before our food. Definitely won’t be coming back to this restaurant. Great view though.

We stayed recently for our first visit to Bayfield, which is a great little town. We were Jacuzzi suite in the basement because that was all that was available. We moved to a smaller and less expensive room after our first night given the amount of noise from the restaurant that is immediately above the room. It continued until about 10 PM and started again at 6:50 AM with chairs scraping on the floor constantly right above our beds. If the Jacuzzi suites are all that is available, I would book a different location. The front desk service let me know multiple rooms were available, and then said she would need to charge me for an additional night to move to a smaller less expensive room. After reaching out to the manager, she did let us know that they would not charge us but that shouldn’t have even been a consideration.
Terri L — Google review
If I could give 0 stars I would for the horrible customer service rendered by the staff at the inn. A group of us, for 35 years, have been renting a condo every year the same week in October through the inn. This year, before we even checked out, they rented out our space to someone else for the next year. Seems after 35 years we should get priority to re-rent or at least the courtesy to ask if we wanted the space next year. All we were told was “too bad, that’s the way it is”. I think if the actual homeowners knew the way the inn treats renters they would be appalled! It’s been a real disappointment to leave our fun girls weekend angry because of this awful customer service. Not only have they lost our rental dollars, but we will not support any of the other interests the inn controls such as their restaurant, bar or other businesses in town. And we will spread the word!
Jane Q — Google review
I didn't stay here just ate their restaurant with the view. I left my sling and didn't notice it until I got home 4 days later in a different state. I wasnt sure where I had lost it and was calling all the establishments I had been to check if they had my sling. The lady at Bayfiled Inn confirmed they had it and would ship it to me. And boy did they ship it with everything still inside my purse! Hats off to them for their prompt shipment. Thank you very much !

Day 3

Off the beaten path
For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Big Top Chautauqua - Concert Venue. Not quite as popular as Bayfield Maritime Museum, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 8 hours.

Great venue. I saw Elephant Revival & they were awesome!!! Id go again but not take the bus. The ride home was late, a group of us going to legendary waters had to wait for the bus to come back. By the time it came back there was a small group of boisterous people who had over-imbibed on the bus with us. Concert & venue were excellent though, I'd go again.

Really had a nice time. Good weather, fair prices, comfortable seating and friendly people. Getting picked up and dropped off right at our campground for free was a real bonus.

Fun atmosphere and all the volunteer workers were friendly and made the experience that much greater. The acoustics really are wonderful no matter where you sit. Prices on food and drinks are very affordable and a good selection!

The Coasters, Platters, and Drifters were amazing with “spot on” vocals and choreography, despite several members in their 80’s…one doing a cartwheel across the stage. We had so much fun reliving those much loved 50’s tunes that we haven’t heard since, well, the 50’s. If you get a chance to see these performers, do it…but don’t forget your dancing shoes!

This hill, while small is full of value and cheer. We know this because size does not matter. The food and lift tickets are very nicely priced, and if you stay past four, there's free food! I went for a race and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Everyone there is super nice and it's a fun little hill.

Even though only a few runs were open, we had a fun day of skiing. My rental boots were really comfy, and the skis were in great shape. Very short waits for the lift, and beautiful views from the top. Good selection of beers, and my kid loved the black bean burger. We'll be back next year!

The fact that they support young children getting lift tickets and rentals for free makes me want to go to this place all the time. I plan to take my kids to this hill and they will learn how to snowboard and grow up going to this hill the hour drive to get to it is so worth it.

Great place! Wonderful people, great kids skiing mission, and beautiful XC skiing.
Paul W — Google review
Nice trails for cross country skiing. If the lodge is closed, buy your passes in advance as the internet is minimal to zero. We had to drive down the road until we got ours to work to buy the passes. Passes are a bit pricey at $13 each for cross county skiing, but the trails were very nice and obviously cared for. It was peaceful on the well marked trails too even though the parking lot seemed moderately filled. (We didn't see too many people).

Hoop’s Fish Market

Seafood market
If you find yourself in the Bayfield area, make sure to stop by Hoop’s Fish Market, a gem operated by the Hoopman family, who have been dedicated to commercial fishing for six generations. With two retail shops—one opened in 2019—and their new venture, Hoops Dockside, just a short stroll away from the main store, this market is a must-visit. Locals rave about their exceptional smoked fish; it’s perfectly smoky and incredibly affordable.
Delish! Bought 3 smoked fish - lake trout and two varieties of salmon - on our way back from exploring the Apostle Islands by boat. Opened one in the car and within 5 minutes it was devoured!
Carol D — Google review
Stopped by to get some smoked fish to try. The lady working was beyond helpful and friendly. She suggested I start with whitefish. I also got the fish dip. Both were excellent! She also suggested things to do around Bayfield and upcoming events for the weekend. Highly recommend!

This is the place to go for smoked fish, smoked brown sugar white fish and smoked brown sugar salmon. I agree with the other reviews, not too much smoke, not dry, wonderful flavor, absolutely perfect and delicious 😋! I knew we didn't buy enough!! Going to check into having them ship more to us directly to our house! The service was great, she was very polite and so kind!

Now THIS is a place you need to go to if you're in the bayfield area!! Best smoked fish I've ever had. They know how to make it perfectly, smoky, not dried out, delicious! Extremely affordable too. After ordering a couple of filets I had to order many more when I found out how cheap the total came to. Hoops' smoked fish is worth it's weight in gold. I got white fish and trout fillets. It's like candy for grown ups. Can't wait to go back and order more. I promise you, you won't be let down

Wow. Delicious fish and a seriously fantastic view. We are Wisconsinites and appreciate everything Wisco. This is the real deal. Can’t find a better place for delicious fish ON the water. Going back tomorrow and the next day. Added bonus….cleanest porta potty I’ve ever been in…and I’ve been in A LOT.

Delicious fish mongers selling locally caught white fish trout and salmon from Lake Superior. A great shop to visit when in Bayfield. Try the chopped fish salad or the smoked whitefish, trout or salmon fillets in traditional smoked flavor or with maple sugar.
Neal S — Google review
Small, just out of town place heading south out of Bayfield. We asked some locals and they were non-committal about the various fish ships, then added Hoop’s is where they go. We tried fresh & smoked whitefish; also got some trout for later. I’m a big fan of the fresh fish; my wife - the smoked. Go figure. Very informative and great service too

Big Water Coffee Roasters in Bayfield is a charming coffee shop that offers a delightful experience for both locals and visitors. The cozy ambiance and friendly service make it a perfect spot to enjoy specialty coffees, with options like the Sugarbush Latte and Cold Fusion standing out. Their in-house roasted beans are smooth and aromatic, ensuring a top-notch coffee experience. Additionally, the bakery provides delectable treats such as rhubarb ginger scones.
Favorite coffee shop, hands down. Every time we visit Bayfield, we make sure to stop in at least once each day! And when we can't visit in person, we buy their roasted beans at our local grocery store. The staff here is also so friendly.

It was a decent cup of coffee. Seemed like a quaint environment. No AC, just fans. For the town, it fits right in. There's a little charm to it.
Michael K — Google review
This should be a 2.5 star, but that's not an option. The coffee was decent, nothing special (probably the best option in such a tiny town). I didn't like that the establishment didn't seem equipped (from a personnel or space standpoint) to manage the number of customers they had...If you're not in a rush, this might be a cute little option worth enjoying - but if you're hoping to get your coffee quickly so you can go enjoy the waterfront, make sure you go when it isn't crowded.
Alastair K — Google review
Loved the atmosphere and bought a few of the mugs and sample bags of beans as Christmas gifts. Very reasonably priced!
Jewel M — Google review
PURE BLISS. Self proclaimed coffee snob that I am I adore this little coffee roaster. The beans, roasted in house, are smooth and fragrant the way all beans should be. Never have I found old beans and if you are a coffee drinker you will know exactly what I mean. They are served to simple perfection with the liquid brew sliding down the gullet so smoothly that one does not even need or want to take a breath between sips. The building is old and restored adding to it's charm. Plenty of beans for sale at the storefront along with some charming cups and T-shirts. They do have bakery but it is a little limited for my taste. Fantastic staff helps select the different variety of beans to try and the different concoctions that they brew. One can be in a foul mood and simply sip a smooth cup of this brew and harmony comes over your soul. Bathrooms are large and extremely clean. One can judge a kitchen and what goes on behind closed doors by how well an establishments bathrooms are kept I feel. A few couches, some posh chairs, and a lot of tables scatter around the seating area lending their charm. Free wifi that is of good strength is offered as well. If you are in the area, stop. If you are like us you make a special trip even if you are not in the area.
R K — Google review
I had the cold press coffee and she had the honey bee latte. I rate both high. Staff was super friendly. The music they were playing was garbage. Oh well, can't win them all. I would hit this place every day if i was local. Way better than Starbucks but i think Starbucks sucks so.....
Isnot A — Google review
This place is one of the cutest coffee shops I've ever been to. Every time I come to Bayfield, I always stop in and grab one of their delicious specialty coffees and some beans. The design is beautiful, clean, and simple. And the service is friendly. The specialty drinks are all AMAZING. The Sugarbush Latte with local maple syrup is the bomb dot com. And on a hot day, the Cold Fusion is perfect. If you're in Bayfield and have a hankering for coffee, definitely give this place a look.

Good coffee, but... no baked items in sight, and there were flies. :-/ The hardwood floors and hard ceiling were nice, but they create an echo chamber and with lots of tourists it was very noisy. Not at all a place to get any reading or work done.

The Deck is a seasonal outdoor dining spot in downtown Bayfield, offering a changing menu with salads, sandwiches, and soups. It provides a wonderful rooftop patio overlooking Lake Superior where visitors can relax and enjoy the bay view. The restaurant is conveniently located near the Madeline Island Ferry, shops, and parks. Guests can savor delicious meals such as fish and chips or fish tacos while enjoying live music during dinner.
We ordered the cheese curds, Cedar Planked Whitefish & the Wild Rice Burger. Everything was phenomenal. We had a table over looking the water with spectacular views of the islands. Food & atmosphere were an A+.

Always a nice spot to sit and relax. You complete the menu selections and turn it in at the bar. Food is then delivered to your table. Cheese curds are great! All items I've had are delicious. Always a daily special and rotating specialty drinks.

The blackened whitefish tacos were so dang good!!! One of my favorite meals of the vacation. Not a huge fan of ordering at the counter, but it was fine. Beautiful view too.
Alex G — Google review
Good food although the bacon was significantly undercooked. I also wish their drinks came I better drinkware as opposed to a plastic cup. Great view of the lake and nice ambiance. No table service. You have to go to the bar to order.
Mister J — Google review
Food tasted great, especially the Apple burger. The atmosphere was excellent, I mean, you can't get much better than rooftop location looking out over Lake Superior! The only qualm with this place is have is how insanely overpriced everything was. The burger I had was delicious, don't get me wrong, but nowhere near worth 18 dollars. Burgers are not really a menu item that should reach anywhere near 20 dollars. 12, 13, maybe even 15 dollars, but absolutely no more than that. After filling out the menu the service while placing my own order was good but there was no other "service" other than that hence the 3 stars. You wait on yourself but are still asked to tip when paying which is before you eat. Tips are for great service, not just an assumed cost to tack on to the bill. If your not servicing tables, why are we we still being asked for tips?
Steve L — Google review
My frozen watermelon margarita was excellent. Fish tacos lacked flavor. I recommend Pier Plaza for whitefish tacos instead; it’s twice as much fish and tastier due to their house sauce. My friends had salads, sans meat. They liked those. You’re really up here for the rooftop view anyway. It’s first come first serve on the tables. It’s only counter service—at the bar. They add a 5% surcharge for kitchen/back staff.
Pam W — Google review
In June, we visited the area and wanted to return to see the leaves change in October. We have always wanted to dine at The Deck, but assumed it might only be for clients of the Bayfield Inn. We were pleasantly surprised when told there was availability on The Deck. Of course, we had a beautiful view of the bay as we enjoyed a pleasant lunch. Our food was delicious and the service was perfect as well. The day was a beautiful 74 degrees with a slight wind so it couldn't have been more perfect. Thank you for the highlight of a beautiful day in Bayfield. We look forward to being back another time.

Food was good, view was nice and service was fine. I had read some mixed reviews so was prepared to just enjoy the view and accept subpar food. No need! Dalrymple Park and Campground

4.5
(125)
Campground
Nestled by Lake Superior, Dalrymple Park and Campground is a seasonal site with 28 tent and RV spots. It's advisable to arrive early for prime locations, but with stunning views of the lake and Madeline Island, every spot feels like the best. This gem offers well-spaced sites that maintain privacy without sacrificing scenery. While most sites have power, primitive camping is also available. The $30 nightly fee includes access to city water spigots and pit restrooms.
Fantastic little campground- lots of sites available on a Monday, we didn’t show up till after 4pm and had plenty of options. All sites have electric, there are a good number of water faucets around, and a few pit toilets. Sites feel private and are wooded/shady. Easy to walk down to the lake and quiet. No showers, but much better than the other ones we saw. We actually left the casino campground to come over here and are so happy we did!
Tamera B — Google review
This is a first come first serve campground. We were on a long road trip and had a need to change plans. This was a great last minute stop to pitch a tent. Great sunrise view. I went down the road to Washington Avenue beach to get a better view of the sunrise as well as a running water bathroom.
Jordan M — Google review
Campground Host Cheating the System I want to start by saying the reasoning for the one star review has more to do with the experience we had with the campground host Patty, rather than the campground itself. The campsites were beautiful and the City Hall was extremely helpful with the situation. When arriving at the campground we drove through looking for an open site as it was clearly posted that the campsites were first come first serve. We found an empty site right off the lake and were about to go back to the pay station when we saw a paper note clipped on the campsite post that only had that days date on it. No move in and move out dates, just that days date. We were a bit confused so we went up to the self-serve pay station to read the campground rules. They clearly stated to tear your receipt stub off of your proof of payment sheet and attach it to your campsite post. With our chosen campsite being empty, no proof of payment on the post, and the fact the website made it very clear there are no reservations, we figured the sheet on the post was just left over from someone who had packed up and left that morning. We payed for our dates and followed the posted instructions. Shortly after, another couple moved into the site next to ours and said they ran into the same confusing issue. They called City Hall and the workers there told them that if the campsite isn’t properly posted, it falls on the person who didn’t follow instructions. All went well until later that day a lady in an older black Chevy Trail Blazer pulled up to our campsite and aggressively approached us. She went right in to yelling and accusing us of stealing the site and lying about the fact that there wasn’t a move in and move out date on her sheet (even though we still had it to prove to her wrong). She told us we couldn’t be there and that we weren’t nice people. Any attempt to try and talk through the situation to deescalate it only seemed to enrage her more. We tried to tell her that we didn’t see any proof of payment posted and had called the city to get advice. She seemed upset that we had talked to the city and told us that she’s never seen anyone as selfish as us in all her time working there. In her rage she let slip that she was trying to save the site for her friend. She then told us she would “remember us” before driving away. We called City Hall again just to make sure we hadn’t done anything wrong and because we were concerned for our safety staying there after how angry she was. They told us they were going to talk to her, and not to worry because the campsite was rightfully ours. A few days later after talking to our neighbors at the site next to us, they told us they had gotten a rude phone call from this same campground host, Patty, telling them they needed to leave their site as well. We came to find out that Patty the host was breaking the campground rules and reserving sites for her friends. Once we found this out we took a walk around the campground and found many more sites she was trying to reserve. Most of them were the more desirable lakefront sites. It kind of defeats the whole purpose of a first come first serve campground when the host doesn’t follow her own rules. The website clearly states that there are no reservations…apparently that’s only if you don’t know Patty personally. It goes back to the old saying that it only takes one bad apple to ruin the whole bushel.
Jace S — Google review
We arrived on a Monday afternoon about 2pm and there were about 7 or 8 empty sites. By evening it looked like the campgrounds were full. All sites electric except for a few in overflow. Plenty of room for our tent. Sites were clean except for stupid people who left thier plastic water bottles in the fire pit. Sites closest to the lake really don't have lake views because of the trees. Pit toilets were relatively clean with little to no odors. Water spigots are close by. Although the location is just outside of Bayfield near the the highway it was quiet. Payment is self service by cash or online. No checks.

First come first serve! Absolutely beautiful campsite with electric hook up, lake view, private. Pit toilets that are clean , potable water nearby. A local man comes around with reasonably priced firewood. Great place to camp!

We got up super early to get a site here for four nights. We immediately went down to the lake sites that we had heard so much about. All sites in the lower campground were “saved”, several by the camp host. We were disappointed. We found a very shady spot in the upper campground (site 15). The site was very unlevel, but we were able to level ok in our 18 ft. camper. Site 14 was very small and really only big enough for a small van at most. Over the next four days, we saw many campers that were too large wedge themselves in to that site. It was so close that we could hear their conversations and two boxed us into our site. That site should be removed. On the other side of us, for two nights an huge fifth wheel arrived and their big dogs were in Our campsite on their leash. Also too close. Every night we were there, the campground was 100% full (1st week of August). Some rigs would pull in near our site and not have anywhere to turn around. This campground is NOT for big rigs! The City of Bayfield should seriously consider a reservation system. We had no way to dump our tanks. I called the water treatment manager several times and he never returned our call. We ended up paying $10 to dump at Memorial Park Campground in Washburn. The roads within the campground were horrendous. So bumpy. There was very little access to the water. There was a hike down to the water that was not well maintained. OK, now for some good things? Shaded. It was hot and our campsite was about 10 degrees cooler than town. It was so close to town and many fun activities. We kayaked the sea caves from Meyers beach. We hiked the ravine in town. We took the grand tour in town and the ferry to Madeline island.

Beautiful little campground. Reservations not available. Potable water available

This particular campground is very hilly. We had drove in and since our RV is very low to the ground found it extremely difficult to navigate throughout. We almost damaged our rig. If you’re a renter, it’s okay. The area is beautiful and found a much better accommodations at Buffalo Bay Campground, which is just up the road, and part of the casino. They accept reservations. Good luck.

The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore Mainland Sea Caves in Algoma, Ontario offer a breathtaking winter wonderland experience. The towering waves of Lake Superior create stunning ice ridges and caves that are ideal for photography enthusiasts. However, visitors must bundle up in warm clothes and snowshoes to explore the caves. Due to climate change, these incredible natural formations could disappear within a few decades.
The hiking was up and down through the woods but nothing was too challenging. We went just past the bowl and turned around for a nice 6 mile hike. The views of some of the sea caves were astounding. There were also several nice benches to stop and catch your breath if needed. Parking was $5 and digital only, but took PayPal, Card, or venmo.

Nice there and back hike. None of the signs seem to agree on how long the trail is. It took me 13k steps to do it out to the end of the rock formations.

We went on a 2 1/2 hour boat tour of the islands. Able to see the caves, lighthouses, and the captain told us about each island. The weather was perfect and we thoroughly enjoyed it

This was a very cool hike. We did a little over 4 miles for the view we got. Could have gone further if we wanted. I would come back again, most likely in the winter for a different perspective. There was plenty of spaces to park.

It was a really fun hike. Bring water on your hike! The 1.8 miles took us about 3.5 hrs to hike, hang out, and hike back. If we would have packed food and water, we would have hiked further. We were carrying a toddler with us as well. $5 to park a regular vehicle. You have to scan the QR code and fill out the info. Pay by cc.

Breath taking views seeing them. We took a boat tour of all the Apostle Islands and the Sea Caves which do not disappoint the majestic views made by nature are truly magnificent. We were lucky to see a family of Eagles nest and soar off from the Island.

Nestled in the picturesque village of Bayfield, Old Rittenhouse Inn is a charming Victorian-era bed and breakfast that promises an unforgettable getaway. With its sophisticated rooms and breathtaking views of Lake Superior, this inn is perfect for romantic escapes or special celebrations. Guests can indulge in gourmet breakfasts each morning and enjoy fine dining at the on-site restaurant, Manypenny Bistro, which features a delightful blend of American and Turkish cuisine.
We had a wonderful stay in the Turret Suite in the Chateau. It is just a few blocks away from the Old Rittenhouse and at least even pretty. We loved the authentic furniture and the magnificent view over the lake. In the morning we walked to the Old Rittenhouse for breakfast, perfect to explore the beautiful area. We had the warmest welcome and best breakfast service ever in the US! The food was delicious and it was heartwarming to get to know the first employee of the B&B who worked there since 1974. This man is so attentive, sincerely friendly and the best in what he does. Thank you for having us!

We absolutely loved our stay! We stayed in Room 12, the Moroccan Suite, which was beautifully furnished, very clean and cozy enough for reading on the cold, rainy days we were there. The breakfasts were delicious and the staff were courteous, friendly and helpful. I can’t say enough about this place. Highly recommended!

There are 3 properties, and we stayed at Le Chateau in the Ball Room. The home is absolutely beautiful and it is our favorite place we have stayed. Breakfast is back at the Old Rittenhouse Inn and is included with your stay, and was very tasty. It is a pretty easy walk between the two properties. Highly recommend this B&B and plan to return.

Old world style and comfort. Comfortable bed. Great chef who makes great food. I'm sure they are at the top of their profession. We are three walking blocks from Lake Superior. Beautiful area with cute shops and reasonable restaurant prices.

We thought we rented the Northeast Room in the Old Rittenhouse Inn, we made reservations for two nights and purchased the romance package. When we arrived we were told that our room was in the chateau building blocks away. I asked when our our candle light dinner time would be because it was our 20th wedding anniversary that day and we wanted to celebrate with the dinner that night, we were told there was no dinner that night. We spent the first night and had breakfast the next morning, immediately after eating my wife became ill. We went back to our room and made the decision to have to leave early. We called the front desk and to see if we could get compensated for the remaining time, she indicated that maybe they could give us the $100 coupon that was part of our dinner, so no refund except for the $100 coupon which I paid for already in the romance package. Rooms were dirty and while waiting with my sick wife the maid just walks in wanting to bring towels in! I feel like we were scammed because I bought the romance package included a candle light dinner, champagne, chocolate covered strawberries. We didn't get to have the dinner but gave us a coupon when we arrived? Very strange arrangement. Building smelled as well. We just wanted to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and get away. Im glad to pay for the one night stay and the part of the romance package we used. Just very disappointed in our experience of how they handle the situation. Sad?

Portside is a charming and picturesque coastal town with a vibrant atmosphere. It boasts stunning beaches, lively waterfront promenades, and a bustling harbor filled with fishing boats and yachts. The town is known for its fresh seafood restaurants, quaint cafes, and boutique shops offering unique local crafts. Visitors can enjoy various water activities such as sailing, kayaking, and paddleboarding or simply relax on the sandy shores. Portside also has a rich maritime history showcased in its museums and historic landmarks.
We had dinner last night (Friday night) and had a great time. The waitress was very attentive and had fun with our outgoing group. Old fashions were amazing as well. We learned this summer a new cook took over the kitchen and the food was great. We had the prime rib and whitefish. Everyone at the table was thrilled with dinner! If you are in the Bayfield area please give this place a try!

Under staffed. The wait staff was on a constant apology tour at each table. They were at about half capacity and the food took at least an hour to come out. The shrimp scampi was not edible.

I had the Carolina BBQ ribs. They were some of the best I’ve had. Vicki enjoyed the large serving of fried whitefish. The service was helpful and super friendly, and the view of the marina was charming

First post pandemic visit. My husband is very particular about how his steak is prepared. He said it was one of the best ever. Prepandemic we enjoyed visiting and referred several people. Food is always excellent. Protip-make a reservation for a window table. Best view in Bayfield! Restaurant only operates seasonly and is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Bartender, waitstaff, hostess, chef and manager all excellent.

We have been to the Portside restaurant many times. The view of all the sailboats and lake superior is a big draw. The food is always good. On our most recent visit I had the prime rib and a bowl of chicken wild rice with a couple nice beers. We were disappointed that there were no whitefish livers even though they're on the menu. This has happened before. They must be more rare than you'd expect. The wait staff was new and inexperienced but wanted so much to be helpful. For example, our meal made it out to the table before our drinks with no explanation. I think that's important. Overall, we will keep going to this lovely restaurant.

Excellent, and opening weekend. The crew at portside did a fabulous job, food, service, and aside from the rain, the view is always amazing.

We reserved a table for two. When we arrived we had to wait 10 minuties before a host finally came. When we sat down it took another 10 minutes to get waters and another 15 minutes just to get drinks. We got our food and there was hair in the rice and the cordon blue tasted like it came out of the microwave😖 the food portions are in half and the food was bland. The drinks were the only good part of our dinner.

Day 4

Proximity is everything
For day 4, we bundled attractions like Meyers Beach and Bayfield Winery and Blue Ox Cider and other places within a close range, so that the time it takes to travel between all of them is less than one hour. Combined with the average time people spend there, your day should take about 7 hours.

Meyer’s beach is absolutely gorgeous! Big stretch of beach and stairs to get down to it. Clean beach and clean water. You can hike out to the sea caves via trails. The trails are well maintained and a lot of them are a two plank boardwalk system! Definitely could spend a day here.

We discovered this little beach area on Lake Superior last year, and decided to come back for a picnic this year and hike the trail down to the area above the sea caves. This is also the beach where the kayak companies launch from for their sea cave group exploration. So depending on where you setup, the area could be busy. After 5 pm on a summer night, this beach is peaceful and you can see beautiful sunsets!

Camped at the new Mainland Campsite 2. The directions are not clear at all for getting to site 2 and 3 but we eventually found it. You can either walk down the first service raid that you come across on the main trail where you'll eventually see some signage or you can just walk north along the beach maybe 10-15 minutes until you see some signage. Beautiful spot!

This is an excellent place to spend a weekend. Kayaking, picnic, hiking, sea caves, and one of the most well groomed trails I've ever got to partake in. Parking is very very limited so get there early or prepare to park far away. Kayak and boat launch here. Safety first. We not only kayaked but got to hike these trails. Dog friendlyand very people. When you come to this place it's strictly for the nature. Enjoy it and leave nothing but ripples, and footprints.

We were very lucky to kayak on Saturday with fog. This made the Sea Caves adventure incredible. Jurassic Park vibes!!! We did tandem kayaking and went through the Caves. The next day we hiked the trail above the Sea Caves in a beautiful sunny day. The water was so blue and we stopped at the view points to take pictures and make really good memories! What a fantastic weekend. Really worth the drive to Bayfield for an extended long weekend.

Place pretty nice, relaxing. Had outside live music which was good l. Charcuterie board was gluten free... Really nice. Wine was okay...I had the sweeter wines. Other person in our party had dry. But just didn't find any to bring home this time. Service was excellent. Might go again when in the area and try some different wines.

I love watching this venue & the farm grow more and more each year. Fun wine selection, amazing ciders, charming location, and an awesome music/event lineup during the summer months. Phil and Jen are the best! 🥂

Absolute gem of a place! I have come to expect sort of sub-par quality from wineries in Wisconsin since so many of them are just fruit juices in disguise, but this place is the real deal. And if you are a fan of dry ciders, run- do not walk- to the tasting room. We bought tons of ciders and a couple wines to take home that we look forward to savoring as we remember our magical afternoon on the back deck!

Nice wine selection! Beautiful and peaceful scenery. Really excellent customer service. We loved each of the wines we tasted. My favorite was the blueberry and the white grape wine with pineapple notes. They have musicians outside in the summer as well. Highly recommend!

Had an amazing lunch here recently along with a couple flights of wine. Hunter was fantastic about setting us up with wine choices and he was always there if we needed something. We also ordered split pea soup and a grilled cheese to share and it was delicious. Definitely a recommended spot to stop in. Beautiful home and grounds. They have an ice skating rink as well, we didnt use it though.

Big Ravine - West Rim Trail in Bayfield offers a challenging hike through ravines, forests, and upland areas. The overlook trail rewards hikers with stunning views of the lake, islands, and mountains. It is conveniently located near the Iron Bridge Trail. The trail provides phenomenal views and a secluded experience despite being in Bayfield WI.
The road to this trailhead is off rice on the downhill side of the mailboxes. It does not look like a road. It looks like a driveway, go up it, behind the cottages. Thru the woods. Be careful, it needs maintenance. When you get to the top it looks like a government building and .... a buried dome. Go behind the dome. Thats where the trail marker/map are. Good Luck. Watch put for bears, coyotes and fox.

My Wife and I came here 2-18-24. Snow on the ground, air temp 34 degrees, stream mostly frozen over. We came to hike the Big Ravine, Gil Larson Nature Trail/ Iron Bridge area. We hiked for roughly 2.5 hours, had our 2 medium size dogs with us. The hiking was fenominal with many great views, very nice overall how secluded you are all while being in Bayfield WI. We will certainly be back. We loved it, our dogs loved it.

This was a great little hike tucked behind the Apostle Island visitor center. The top of the rim was a nice easy walk through the woods, but when you venture down into the ravine, the terrain is a bit more moderate. At the bottom there is a nice water fall and flowing creek. Beautiful.

Beautiful trail tucked behind Bayfield, parking was an interesting situation but maybe I came in on the "wrong end"? Going down into the ravine to the riverbed is an excellent riverside trail, quiet and peaceful.
John C — Google review
There-and-back trail that is similar throughout. Not many wildflowers compared to in the ravine. The ravine does impressively plunge down. An easy trail. There are lots of side trails, but we did not explore any of these. Not much of a view at the end of the trail. If you want excitement you can take a thrilling trail (Hemlock Lane) into the ravine and join up with the Gil Larson trail which is much more interesting with the creek and wildflowers.

Candy store
Sweet Sailing is a charming store in Bayfield that offers a delightful assortment of items. From locally made fudge, jams, and specialty candies to an array of souvenirs and housewares, this place has something for everyone. Visitors can also indulge in the best ice cream in town with creamy flavors like Kitty Kitty Bang Bang served in specialty waffle cones. The store's friendly staff adds to the enjoyable shopping experience.
Very neat and clean shop. Nice selection of candy and fudge. I was happy to see some “old school” candy for sale. Nothing like a pack of good ole’ candy cigarettes.
Chris L — Google review
Rude employee and they let non service animals in the store so avoid if you have pet fur allergies. There was a massive dog in there who kept putting it's nose up my butt for lack of a better way to describe it. Very uncomfortable shopping experience, would not recommend. Their prices are extremely high also. But apparently they are owned by the same people who own the brownstone shop across the street. The only time I ever went in there, I was completely ignored by their employees so it's not surprising that this store is also run the same way. Amazing how they can charge so much for their merchandise and not even do the bare minimum of greeting customers or being remotely friendly. There are other much nicer shops in Bayfield to support.

We found the ice cream at Sweet Sailing to be the best in Bayfield! We all had the Kitty Kitty Bang Bang and found our new favorite flavor. Apostle Islands Booksellers is a charming bookstore located in the picturesque historic town of Bayfield. The collection emphasizes the history, culture, and cuisine of the area, featuring a deliberate selection of local authors and stories set in nearby regions. Visitors can expect to find not only popular novels but also unique gems that reflect the local flavor. The friendly staff members are more than willing to provide recommendations if needed, ensuring a pleasant browsing experience.
I like this book store and they have a great selection of books. Kids adults. My favorite thing is that they don't put the price sticker on the book where it'll cover anything. The price and barcode is over the printed on book barcode. And I love that because I hate having to remove stickers. And they leave Residue. The way they do it, it is out of sight. And I don't have to worry about taking it off. Because it's not blocking any of the title or spin. So I highly recommend this place!

Nestled in this picturesque historic town was Apostle Island Booksellers, where I had the pleasure of meeting a new friend. It occurred to me that day that I had never read a Stephen King novel, so I decided to embark on a mission to find one. After connecting instantly with Kristen, she offered me some excellent recommendations. I was so thrilled with her suggestions that I ended up purchasing all three of the books she recommended. ❤️

Kristin (apologies if spelled incorrectly) was extremely helpful, kind, and accommodating. The store has several steps to enter, but they have a ramp that you may request to use if you use a scooter or wheelchair for mobility. The Madeline Island Ferry Line offers a pet-friendly experience, allowing dogs to board for free. The ferry efficiently loads and unloads various vehicles, pedestrians, and bikers, providing a convenient and smooth experience. The 20-minute ride offers beautiful views from the upper deck and is described as lovely and convenient. Additionally, there are options for sailing charters that welcome four-legged guests.

So here we go, again, Madeleine island very amazing. We got there. We got back. The island was beautiful, but what was most beautiful and most calming about the trip out there was the pleasant ride on the ferry? And we had our car on it, not Bumpy, not choppy, just amazing. Let me tell you amazing. So get out there, yeah. Enjoy a nice ferry right for a very economically priced. 30 to 35, maybe $28. Perfect, perfect price. Get out there and do it, and if you're lucky enough to have David as one of your crewmen, he's, I think 1 of the boat swans on there, well, you know, they always put safety first, these guys safety first every time, and that's what I love about it, and I hope. You do too. So please get yourself out there and take this great adventure on this ferry for yourself.

Recently took the Madeline Island Ferry for our camping trip at Big Bay State Park. The workers at both ends were efficient and made getting on and off the ferry very easy— I was impressed. They quickly loaded and unloaded cars, oversized vehicles, pedestrians, and bikers. The ride was just over 20 minutes— not bad!! I would say we waited between 15 and 20 minutes from the time we arrived at the ferry to boarding it. I did think that the ride was slightly expensive. For a family of 3, driving a truck and pulling a standard pop-up camper it cost us $122 for a round trip ticket. However, this wouldn’t deter me from doing this trip again!

We take pianos out to the island in the spring and retrieve them in the fall. The ferry service is fast and friendly.

Does what it needed to do! It got us to and from Madeline Island in the time promised, at the times promised. Would recommend. Not that there are options I could even recommend, but you get the point. We were going to take our car until we realized you had to pay the car and also ticket per person. Our reason for going to the island was to ride the Mopeds, so the car wasn’t necessary in the end anyway.
