Botanical garden
Heritage Museums & Gardens in Sandwich is a must-visit destination with its expansive rhododendron gardens and three galleries showcasing diverse collections. The largest garden in Southern New England, it also houses American cultural artifacts and hosts changing exhibits like the recent New England Impressionists Exhibit. With nature trails, a nature playground for kids, and a Shaker-style Round Barn displaying 40 antique autos, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
The most amazing thing about this museum is the unique combination of a world-class antique car exhibition and a beautiful botanical garden with winding paths and hidden mazes. Getting there isn’t exactly easy — it took us nearly 40 minutes from Barnstable, and at times it felt like we might be going the wrong way. But don’t worry — just trust your GPS and keep going. The drive and the ticket price are absolutely worth it. If you start your exploration by walking clockwise, you’ll step straight into the past — the antique automobile collection is one of the best I’ve ever seen. Many of the cars are still in working condition, and through the glass you can even peek into the restoration garage where the magic happens. After that, you’ll enter the vast botanical gardens. The space is stunning — the landscape is thoughtfully maintained, and the diversity of plants is truly impressive. I’ve visited many botanical gardens, and this one definitely deserves a spot among the best. This museum is a fantastic place to visit with children, and you can easily spend several hours there without even realizing how fast time flies. Highly recommended for families, garden lovers, and car enthusiasts alike.

It’s a really nice day trip for adults. I don’t know how much fun younger kids or teens would have. - It’s a lot of walking. The auto museum is really nice. There are water bottle filling stations, and the water didn’t taste bad at all. Comfortable shoes. Sunblock if it’s sunny.
Paul A — Google review
Exceeded expectations. We went here based on a recommendation from a friend. Spent 2.5 hours and could have probably used more. Lots to see here and the place is well laid out and maintained. Gardens were glorious yet in late September. The auto museum is outstanding and the Cranberry history room was also very interesting.
Stephen B — Google review
The most amazing children's outdoor play area/discovery center. There was a stream with smooth rocks and a shallow waterfall where kids played bare feet + puppet stage + tree house + sand pit + musical instruments. All in a shaded grotto in the woods called Hidden Hollow. The most amazing part was I wasn't bitten by mosquitoes 🤯🤯 they set up propane mosquito magnets around the hollow. 15/10 recommend to everyone with young kids
Yu C — Google review
One of the must-see places in Sandwich, with a new visitor entrance (ticketing, museum shop, visitor center and bathrooms); physically handicapped, elderly and stroller access via elevator; and system of carts available to transport people if they need some help to navigate the 100-acre grounds. Something here for everyone, from stunning landscape/gardens to antique cars or a beautiful working carousel. Lots of multi-generational families here enjoying themselves. I’ve visited the museum/gardens several times over the years and the place continues to develop and renew itself. The North American Hydrangea Test Garden is stunningly beautiful and the collection is certainly among the finest I’ve seen.
Paul N — Google review
Plan to spend several hours here! Knowledgeable staff, breathtaking gardens, beautiful windmill, and diverse and stimulating Car Museum! Admission is 25 dollars per person. There are multiple restrooms located throughout. Definitely a unique experience to have!
Holly N — Google review
Fantastic gardens with meandering paths throughout. The entire entrance has been rejuvenated with paved parking lots and new buildings to purchase tickets, a shop, restrooms, and reception area. The automobile exhibit is exceptionally presented with contextual information...better than I've seen elsewhere.
Gerry G — Google review
Lovely grounds with lots to explore! The big statues were a huge hit with my kid and the cranberry exhibit was fascinating! There is something for everyone at this place, including a carousel and a vintage automobile exhibit. If you go in July, the hydrangeas are in full bloom and are simply gorgeous. Wheelchairs are available upon request although you cannot reserve one. We arrived about 20 minutes after the opened and had no trouble securing a wheelchair.

Restaurant
Nestled in an 1800s carriage house, Dunbar House Tea Room & Wine Bar is a charming spot that offers traditional British cuisine alongside a selection of ale, cider, and wine. Whether you're looking for a leisurely afternoon tea, a delightful meal, or a relaxing glass of wine in the cozy wine bar, this establishment has something for everyone. The tearoom exudes warmth with its inviting fireplace and adorable teapot cozies.
This was hands down just a perfect experience. We celebrated an early Mothers Day and this may have just been the start of a new tradition. The rooms were cozy and elegant at the same time. There was a wide variety of teas served it individual pots with a cute warming wrap. The sandwiches were tasty and the pastries delectable. There were different options for high teas with a vegetarian and gluten free option. Service was on point and our server Jeremy was friendly and attentive. The beef Wellington bites were fabulous. Highly highly recommend. Made a reservation already for another visit.

The Dunbar Tea Room is a favorite for spending an afternoon with my mom, and sometimes my daughters. The place is lovely. The food has always been delicious and the drinks delightful. I love the chai with rum. The roast fingerling potatoes are not to be missed! My friends and I attended a Halloween event last year and loved it! What I call the tower of treats with finger sandwiches, petit fours, mini scones, etc... a hot pot of herbal tea in a cozy, what fun! The servers are always charming and friendly as well.
Michelle K — Google review
Charming lunch place and the food was exquisite! Love that the scones were hot, and the bread pudding not soggy. Highly recommend the English pea soup, the crumpet toastie, and the delectable mushroom salad.
Anita W — Google review
We had tea at the Dunbar House Tea Room last week, and it was a mixed experience. The service was very good, as were the teas themselves, but I was surprised that our tea cozy was stained by previous encounters with tea. It made me wonder how frequently they were laundered. I was surprised as well to find kitchen strainers being used to strain our tea rather than tea strainers. We paid close to $100 for two people’s afternoon tea, and it seemed to almost laughable to be straining my tea with a kitchen implement when we were dining so formally. One tiered plate set was off kilter, while the other one was wobbly. Afternoon tea is always a delight, but I probably would not bring a friend here to celebrate her birthday.
Jean M — Google review
The Dunbar Tea Room always delights. This is one of my favorites to lunch with the ladies, and the witches, snuggled right into the historic center of my hometown. Food suggestions? Everything is great, but anything with the roasted potatoes makes it even more wonderful. The service is always friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere serene and cozy regardless of the season. The Dunbar Tea Room often has themed events and has a fun kids menu and program for a child's tea. Can't bring your doll? No worries, one will be lent to you for your Tea party! <3 Absolutely the best! I wanted to share with you my Halloween themed Flight of Sangrias from today's visit. Each option was a tasty treat with a spooky overtone. Grave Digger, Eye Catcher, Poison Apple, and Black Magic were the offerings with the last offering having a dark chocolate broomstick to seal the deal. Once again, knocked it out of the park! See ya next time....maybe tomorrow before these offerings are done for the season!

I have been to enough tea rooms to have an opinion. This is by far my favorite and the only one worth coming back to and this is my 4th time back. If you are looking for frilly dresses, harpists playing Downton Abbey greatest hits, fancy hats and bone dry sandwiches - do NOT come here. When I come here, it feels like coming home for a cup of tea and maybe a splash of something else. Everything is freshly made, the sandwiches are perfect, scones are amazing, the tea is wonderful, and the ambiance is perfect. If you are fully inclined for a nice dress and a lovely hat no one would bat an eye here....just remember to be comfortable. Afternoon tea is about good tea, good food and great friends (or just a good book). I left my fancy fan in the car. :)

Finally had a chance to go to the Dunbar Tea Room with my mother and daughter for moms birthday. We initially sat in the main dinning room. It's really beautiful. But it's extremely loud and echos like one other reviewer said. We moved and sat outside. It took a bit for our waitress to come over to us but she thanked us for our patience (which goes a long way!). She even brought out a second pot of tea for my mother who didn't care for the first flavor (she's picky 🤣). I got the punch fruit tea and mom ended up with the orange blossom. They were both wonderful. All three of us had the Windsor tea tray. My daughter gobbled hers right up. I ate almost everything as well. I wasn't a fan of the roast beef crostini but mom loved it! The cucumber cream cheese sandwich and the chicken salad croissants were incredible and definitely the highlights for me. Loved the blueberry scone and the jam was so good. All the little desserts were good too. I will absolutely be coming back and telling everyone about it! EDIT: I went back several months later and sat inside with my sister. Same experience! Fantastic food, fabulous atmosphere, took a very long time to first be seen by our waitress as well as the table next to us. I absolutely will be back. I love it. But I do wish they would acknowledge a table a little earlier even with a "I'll be right with you!" Still a fan!

This was a delightful stop on a rainy day exploring Cape Cod. The atmosphere was perfect. The staff were attentive and friendly! Definitely recommend scones and hot tea. Although the pea soup was a gorgeous green it did taste rather bland. My sister loved the curry chicken salad & the Victorian London fog hot tea. Also they had a gluten free afternoon tea that made it very easy for my sister who is gluten free to enjoy. Would recommend for a girls outing. ❤️

The Sandwich Glass Museum in Sandwich, MA, USA, is a captivating destination that provides insight into the local glassblowing industry. The museum's exhibits and demonstrations offer a glimpse into the vibrant history of glassblowing in the region. Visitors can explore a variety of displays showcasing intricate glass artifacts and learn about the craftsmanship and creativity behind this art form. Additionally, the museum features engaging demonstrations of glass blowing techniques, providing an educational and entertaining experience for all who visit.
Visited here on a weekday. It wasn't busy since it was a beautiful spring day. I bought my ticket there, $14 for adults. If you are in the area, definitely stop in. The museum is very informative and has some great pieces. They have a live demonstration of a skilled worker blowing glass. When I visited, the gentleman made a mermaid tail. It was very impressive. Just beside the demonstration, there is a theater that gives a good history of the local glass factory. Very well done. The gift shop was amazing, and I will be back to purchase some pieces and some jewelry. So beautiful. For a small town, this museum was amazing. Definitely recommend stopping in.

This glass museum is truly worth a visit! From the outside, it may look small, but the interior is surprisingly spacious and filled with fascinating exhibits. The displays are rich and informative, showcasing both historical and artistic aspects of glassmaking. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. One of the highlights is the live glassblowing demonstration held at the top of every hour—an exciting and educational experience, especially for children. Highly recommended for families!

As always, a wonderful visit that continues to educate and inspire collectors and visitors who love glass. Rare and beautiful examples of 19th century glass that can still be found at local antique markets today. Great staff and helpful administrators who seek to ensure you see displays of interests including orientation film that showcases Sandwich Glass production and history. Glassblower demonstrations are fun to watch and reveal the complexities of glass production. Museum gift shop offers new and antique glass for sale. Conveniently located to restaurants, shops and hotels on Cape Cod.
Theresa C — Google review
Another must-see destination in Cape Cod! The museum’s historical significance reaches far back in time, showcasing how glass was once an essential part of daily life. I was fascinated to learn how it was molded into candle holders, lamp posts, and countless other practical uses. The glassblower’s live demonstration was outstanding, both educational and inspiring, and even sparked my interest in pursuing glass art as a hobby. My only suggestion would be for management to consider adding more staff in the gift shop during busy holiday weekends, as checkout was a bit slow. Overall, it was a wonderful and enlightening experience that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Cape Cod.
Cydonie B — Google review
Interesting specialized museum for glass, specifically as it pertains to the historical development of glass making and production of glass products in Sandwich. The museum offers a live glassmaking demonstration at specified intervals during visitor hours, as well as an educational film every 30 minutes. The galleries house an impressive number of historic and more contemporary collections of glass originating in Sandwich. The museum hosts special exhibitions of significant glass artists during the year. Modest admission fee required. Free parking lot is available for museum visitors, as well an an overflow lot adjacent.
Paul N — Google review
I had an incredible time at the Sandwich Glass Museum and was absolutely blown away. The most amazing part was the live glass-blowing demonstration, which was the coolest thing I've ever seen! I also loved how many of the exhibits were interactive, with some displays having sensors that would trigger a dialogue to tell you about the piece you were looking at. This made the experience fun for all ages. My son was so excited to take home a unique glass necklace he bought at the gift shop, which, just like the museum, was filled with beautiful and one-of-a-kind items.

Fabulous! We loved the demo and had an excellent time at the museum. Adult tickets were $10. It was a great rainy day activity.

Absolutely loved this place. The food was delicious, and the overall vibe was just perfect. They have a beautiful patio out back that's great for enjoying your meal outdoors. You place your order at the counter, and the staff brings it right to your table with a smile. Everyone was warm and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Highly recommend if you're looking for a tasty, relaxed spot to grab a bite!

This was the cutest place. We just happened on it leaving the Cape Cod area. The omelette was super fresh and flavorful and my husband had the lobster grilled cheese which was very good. Sometimes seafood sandwiches taste too "fishy" but not the case here. Service was good and all were very helpful. Bakery items looked good but we were too full to try any. Be prepared to spend a bit more on breakfast but we expected that. Loved it!!!
Sandra D — Google review
The food and service was very good. Sandwiches are fresh and healthy ingredients. Do not skip desserts, I had a toffee cookie and it was amazing. It got real busy around 12:15 and it was raining. We were lucky to get a seat. They have a little outdoor seating for nice days.

When looking for a place to eat lunch in Sandwich, we came across this place. When we walked in, it was bustling, and we could tell it was going to be good! We ordered food at the counter and then it’s delivered to you by calling out your name when ready. They had gluten free bread available for any sandwich. Both of our sandwiches were delicious. They came served with Cape Cod chips.
Jeff — Google review
We went back here three times on vacation. Perfect for breakfast, no complaints. The staff are nice, and have a good system for seating you. i only disliked my food once and that was personal preference as I don't like greek yogurt. They have a small selection of desserts. We had cookies and muffins and they were delicious. I liked the breakfast platter with all the options, and both the french toast and pancakes were good. The breakfast sandwiches were also great. I think the highlight for me was the baked goods, the blueberry muffin was so full of blueberries and steamed as you broke it open. They have good drink options, and the food was really nice. Indoor and outdoor seating with plenty of shade. I would go again- a fourth time.

It was okay. Have had much better Cobb salads. Great portion but didn't like the quality of the chicken breast and bacon. The lines could be arranged better as takeout orders, sit in orders and bathroom queue can all get mixed up sometimes. It was very busy though so the other stuff on the menu might be good

What a beautiful cafe for all the senses! Lovely woodworking inside and the most amazing chocolate chip toffee cookie I've ever had. The Vermonter sandwich was delicious. Coffee was rich and dreamy. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

When you visit Sandwich, Ma., you must have a breakfast at Cafe’ Chew. The sandwiches of any type are huge and most of all made fresh. Coffee is delicious and atmosphere is delightful. Got to watch a morning crew of ROMEO - retired old men eating out at a table next to us. You have to try the Apple Bomb. Pastries made fresh each day

The restaurant boasts a cozy interior that sets the stage for both casual meals and special gatherings alike. Diners can enjoy their meals on-site, which adds to the overall experience. Having sampled various local pizza spots, many agree that Moto Pizza Sandwich stands out from the crowd.
My favorite pizza in Sandwich! Dave Portnoy gave it 6.2 stars...this was a huge misrepresentation of how great their product is. I think their crust is special. We had a balsamic peach pizza that was delicious. But I also grabbed a big bubbly slice of traditional pepperoni that was fantastic! Highly recommend! It's mainly a take out spot with a small table and a counter along the front. Don't bring a big party and expect to be comfortable. It's important to know what to expect! Loved their food!
Tom M — Google review
Very good food but overpriced - pay $2 to add a topping on a small pizza (so like 10 pieces). $62 for 2 small pizzas + curds —- I’d expect that to be 2 large pizzas + 2 apps. I’d return for the quality of food for a special occasion but not for my “go-to” pizza night.
Nicole — Google review
I love Moto in Sandwich! Kim and Kayla always took good care of me. And Tio, Kiki, Michael, and everyone always make me feel welcome. Great sourdough crust on the pizza, and the best Italian sandwich in town. Can’t recommend this local gem enough! Thank you, Moto!
Daniel F — Google review
Ordered delivery, timing was great but the pizza was terrible. We ordered the jalapeño pizza. Did not seem to be fresh, more like two days old. It was dry and the topping were few and far between. We are not from this area so I’m sorry if this area thinks this is good pizza, but it most definitely isn’t.
CLH — Google review
The best pizza around hands down. Very innovative with some of their flavors, love the thin crust and char. The portion to price ratio is a bit absurd. It’s quite expensive but delicious none the less. Love that they sell their dough as well
Ali J — Google review
Tried a sub and some pizza. The pizza was pretty good, but the sub is what blew me away. The cheesesteak was extremely tender, well seasoned, and just really good. I'm kind of a snob when it comes to a good cheesesteak, and these guys are legit. If not for anything else, pop in for the cheesesteak. It won't disappoint.
Brandon W — Google review
I ordered a large mushroom pizza half pepperoni and half linguica cost me 28 bucks had zero linguica on it they said it was minced if it was I certainly did not find any and imagine questioning the customer like I don't know what linguica is, I called back to complain why would I do that, other toppings sparse a total waste of money and even under cooked the worse pizza you may ever eat in your life where is Dave Portnoy when you need him he'd score this a zero and throw it in the garbage... ABSOLUTLY WOULD NEVER GO BACK OR RECOMMEND IT TO NOBODY AN ABSOLUT JOKE!!!!!! I wish you could see it please avoid at all costs

We have always stopped for lunch here every time we visit the Cape for as long as I can remember. It never fails to deliver and still serves some of the best food on the Cape. Dawn is very knowledgeable and a fantastic server. She made our experience a lot of fun The menu is more limited as they are still adjusting after the kitchen fire but the French onion soup is still incredible. This restaurant never disappoints.

Our wedding weekend was made absolutely perfect by the Dan'l Webster Inn. From the moment we first reached out, the staff was incredibly accommodating, securing a room block for our guests and followed up to ensure everyone was settled and happy. They flawlessly organized our 50-person rehearsal dinner and served as the beautiful backdrop for our "first look" photos. We had a larger bus pick up guests to take them to our venue, Heritage Museum and Gardens, nearby which was executed perfectly. The team went above and beyond, even keeping the bar open late for our guests to celebrate all weekend long. With the staff handling every detail, we were able to completely relax and enjoy everything. The rooms were perfect, and for any couple considering it, the Webster Suite is an absolute must-book—it's completely worth it!

I had my wedding here about a month ago and I couldn’t be happier with the service we got! It was a beautiful venue and Kristi, Marla and Michelle were all very helpful, attentive, and made sure the day went smoothly. The food was also amazing, a lot of guests brought up to us that they loved their meals. The hotel rooms were also very nice and comfortable! Overall 10/10

Loved our stay here! Rooms are super cute. Good size. Very clean. No elevators in the building. Breakfast was my only complain. We are dairy free- gluten free and there was none of these options. All sweets and cupcakes and juices plus coffee were served. I guess we were hoping for just a couple more options. Nothing big or fancy but maybe a choice of nut milks and eggs.
Hanieh H — Google review
Didn’t feel very luxurious to be a 4 star hotel , rooms were technically clean but didn’t feel clean due to dated carpets and drapery. Old mattress was warm down from too much usage and needed to be replaced. Very expensive for what it was. Breakfast is only free on the week days which is crazy if you’re staying in the hotel there should be options during the weekend for free breakfast if it’s included on the week days!! or even just coffee for free in the dining areas if you’re staying. Didn’t want to use dusty kureg machines in room. Dining area is pretty setting, but the carpeting in the whole dining room and hotel needs to be changed, it smells and makes everything feel dirty and dark.

Ate lunch here today as we have many times through the years. The lobster chowder was delicious with several chunks of lobster. Also had the lobster sandwich which was on brioche bin. Absolutely

The location is perfect - love Sandwich and the Inn is located in a nice village area. The service and staff were exceptional including the sweet woman working in the gift shop. My room was very clean but the room smelled like mildew. That was extremely disappointing, The Inn needs some updating. I have stayed here many times over the years with the previous owners. It is starting to look very run down and needs some serious updating.

When, I arrived they were doing the walk for Alzheimer's but the event was well organized and didn't effect my arrival at the beach. There was more than plenty of parking for beach goers, and the beach is long so everyone wasn't stuck together and could spread out. I walked the long rocky path (very dangerous) Over to the "light house" and when I go to just over the end of the rocky path.. I saw my first real seal sunbathing! Such a cool experience! Especially being right on the edge of Cape Cod Canal. I highly recommend visiting this place or cape cod in general! Definitely a 5 start experience!

Beautiful beach! My favorite because the water is always calm and clear, the bugs are ridiculous so bring bug spray. I even saw a tick on my towel. I was sitting closer up to the dunes so maybe that’s why. Great for kids and spacious. Parking is $14.00 and plenty. Concession stand and change room. Again….. the bugs!! lol! Flies bit me too.

A nice place for a morning walk. Especially after season. A beautiful estuary environment exists a short distance south. Not a swimming beach, cold water, rocky shore and very crowded in season, but bliss when everyone goes home!

Wonderful beach, clean Spacious rest rooms. Concessions and they sell ice. Parking is $14. Pay by card at gate. Get there early if you want parking and a decently close beach spot. Beach is Long, there is a sandy path that runs across the top of the beach area, should you need to walk far to secure a good Beach site. Go early , place gets crowded.

Beautiful beach. Sad to see garbage washed up with the seaweed on the beach. It's normal now I guess. 😢 We found that there was less congested beach area if you walk farther. The snack stand had a long line. There were only two people. One of them was hand squeezing the lemons for lemonade. If you're going to offer fresh lemonade, you'll need a person to just squeeze the lemons. One person cannot handle the long line. Also, no distinctive sign to say which of the three windows you should order from. Thankfully the ladies next to me allowed me to go in front of them because they knew I was there first. Delicious food! Pretzel, "smash Burger", hot dog, ice cream. We went August 23rd. The beach is in the bay so small waves are good for children. There were a lot of them there! Nice jetty for fishing.

If you're a fan of ice cream sandwiches, then the Ice Cream Sandwich in Sandwich is a must-visit spot. Located on Route 6A in Sandwich, MA, this storied stand offers a variety of rotating ice cream flavors served with homemade waffle cones. The portions are generous and the experience is delightful. The shop also offers custom-made ice cream sandwiches where you can choose between cookies, donuts, or waffles to sandwich your favorite ice cream flavor.
When we drove through the town of Sandwich and I saw a sign for the Ice Cream Sandwich in Sandwich I just had to go! What a great stop. We had the dog with us and there is great picnic table seating under the shade trees on the grass so it was perfect on a hot day. You walk up to the counter to order your custom made ice cream sandwich. So fun! And so delicious! They offer a cookie , donut, or waffles for your sandwich. You can also get a waffle cone with your ice cream. And they have a pup ice cream for your dog 😊 There is also a pizza place in the same building. We ordered a pepperoni pizza - it came deep dish style and it was very good.

Oh my. This was the largest and by far best ice cream sandwich I have ever had the pleasure of eating. One of these could feed a family of four. Quality ice cream between two large homemade cookies.
Michael B — Google review
Easy to miss while driving down 6A and you'll regret missing it if you do. The ice cream sandwiches here are 3x the size of any ice cream sandwich you'll pull from a convenience store fridge and 10x better. It's hard to beat two freshly baked cookies over three scoops of ice cream. You can easily split one sandwich between two people and still feel full.
John D — Google review
Amazing place the cookie ice cream sandwich is HUGE but delicious. Others in our group had sundaes and they were pleased as well they really fill it up. It looks busy but they get people served very quickly

Was able to try 2 flavors in my ice cream sundae, went with Sandy Neck and Boardwalk Mud and they did hot fudge, whipped cream, nuts and a cherry. Just delicious. Looking forward to trying the Lemon Shortbread and Coffee Heath next time! Friendly, fast service. Plenty of parking. I love that the owner came out to schmooze and talk to everyone in line, too. Oh, and they accept credit cards! Great visit tonight, looking forward to my next visit. Thanks, guys!

The owner, Kevin, greeted us after we ordered and gave our kids 'magic' color changing ice cream spoons. The homemade ice cream flavors are unique and very, very good. The Hotdogs had a really great crunch to the outer skin. A kids sized ice cream was large enough for an adult. Nice place to stop on your way into or out of the Cape.

In the quaint town of Sandwich, MA, there's a place where the cookies are so crunchy, you might just disturb the peace with every bite. Ice Cream Sandwich is the local legend that serves up ice cream sandwiches so large, they're not just a dessert; they're a full-blown challenge. Here, the cookies aren't just vehicles for the ice cream; they're the stars of the show. Imagine two colossal cookies, each with the satisfying snap that only a truly crunchy cookie can provide. They're like edible frisbees, ready to fly into your mouth at a moment's notice. The ice cream, wedged between these titanic treats, is no mere filler. It's the creamy, dreamy glue that holds this delicious dilemma together. And when you're in Sandwich, eating an ice cream sandwich, you can't help but giggle at the delightful redundancy of it all. But let's be real – tackling one of these behemoths is no small feat. You'll need the jaws of a lion and the strategy of a chess master. Do you start from the edge or go for the center? Do you nibble around the circumference or dive straight in? It's a delicious puzzle that's as fun to solve as it is to eat. In short, Ice Cream Sandwich offers a crunchy, munchy, and utterly massive experience that's as memorable as the town itself. So if you're ever in Sandwich, brace yourself for a sandwich that's not just a treat, but a tale to tell. Bon appétit and good luck!

CLOSED AT THIS LOCATION October 2018 -- LOST THEIR LEASE. OWNERS INTEND TO REOPEN AT NEW LOCATION IF THEY FIND ONE IN SPRING 2019. SEE FACEBOOK PAGE FOR UPDATES ON THIS SITUATION. PLEASE NOTE: New operator will take over this location in 2019 but it will not be the same at all... Different name, not same recipes/quality. Real homemade right there ice cream, in unique flavors. Try the Lemon Shortbread ice cream, creamy lemon ice cream with chunks of homemade lemon shortbread made from the owner's French grandmother's recipe. Lobster rolls are filled with a generous portion of local fresh lobster meat, served on a butter-grilled brioche bun that's tasty enough to enjoy by itself! Very clean place. The owner is fastidious about cleanliness to the point of the state health inspector calling it "the cleanest restaurant ever....the way all of them *should* be." Oh, yes, they have ice cream sandwiches here! Homemade cookies with their own ice cream between. Mmm! Sit outside on their front porch or on a picnic table, or inside in air-conditioned comfort. Now, during the main summer season, Ice Cream Sandwich is open from Noon to 10pm seven days a week.

Museum
Visitor center
The Cape Cod Canal Visitor Center, located in Sandwich, offers free admission to the public from early May through late October. Operated by the federal government, this center provides interactive exhibits and multimedia presentations about the management of canal traffic by the Army Corps of Engineers. Visitors can learn about the construction of the canal and observe live radar and camera feeds showing approaching ships. Additionally, visitors can enjoy a bike ride along the canal's bike path while taking in scenic views.
This is a lovely, small museum that makes me appreciate the wonders of the Cape Cod canal, why it was important, and how hard it was to build it. There is a continuously running, free movie that gives you the history up to present day and how the canal is used. Make sure you watch the beginning to see the fascinating attempts at building and enlarging the canal. I developed a better appreciation for the Army Corp of Engineers who were tasked enlarging the canal and to make it more safe. In the museum, there information about the Army Corp of Engineers, a boat that you can climb on, information about navigation through the canal, interactive ship knot tying exhibit to try your hand, dried sea life touch exhibit, and some other fun kid-friendly activities. You only need an hour there. There is a small gift shop. Outside, in a separate building, there are public bathrooms. Plenty of parking. You can walk to the canal and to the beach. You can see people fishing or playing in the water. The beach is rocky. If you stand on the shore and stare at the water, you will likely spot a cormorant or perhaps even a seal or watch a boat come by. Walking distance away was Seafood Sam's which had excellent fried clam strips, fish and a really good lobster roll at a reasonable price plus an assortment of other food and a bar. Order at the counter and then take it to an inside or outside table or order at the bar. At the visitor center, there are friendly, helpful staff.
Claire W — Google review
It was easy to get a parking spot and the visitor center was filled with hands on exhibits about the canal. There was a good sized men and women’s bathroom in a building near the center, and a path that led to Scusset harbor a decent beach and jetty. The water was cold but fun. Seafood Sam’s restaurant was walking distance from the visitor center which made for an easy dinner. This was an all in one stop and made for a great start to our Cape Cod vacation.

Hidden little gem. You'd think it would be some boring little roadside stop but they have an actual boat you can get into inside! They've got three different kinds if scavenger hunts for kids and they can win prizes. Lots of interactive things for kids. A nice little stop to stretch your feet and entertain your kids for free.
Sarah B — Google review
A lot of history to read about and some interesting displays. There is even a boat you can board and look around. Definitely worth a stop!

First and foremost, the staff at this museum are some of the most welcoming and informative people I have ever met! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by all of the staff members, and were almost immediately thrust into a conversation about the canal, it's history, and a general question and answer session that was interesting and informative. As we made our way through the exhibits, workers really made a noticeable effort to find out where we were from, and then even took the time to relate different topics that they were discussing to geology and historical places and events that we were familiar with in our home area. Even though the museum is not huge, I highly recommend taking a moment to visit, as it was truly a personalized museum experience that I have never had the pleasure of experiencing before. Great work, everyone involved, and keep it up! Fantastic in every way!

Fishermen's View Seafood Market & Restaurant is a family-owned establishment located by the water, offering locally sourced seafood dishes and a seasonal outdoor bar. The restaurant boasts expansive 270-degree water views of the Cape Cod Canal and Sandwich Marina, embracing a boat-to-table dining concept to ensure fresh seafood. Their menu changes seasonally, featuring intriguing selections such as Jonah Crab Stuffed Haddock and Lobster Fra Diavolo.
Beautiful views and super fresh, well priced seafood! Husband said the lobster roll rivaled his favorite from our trips to Maine, and the fish tacos I had were flavorful and fresh. The red bliss potato salad is not to be missed, and the side of grilled corn on the cob was juicy. Service was great too, we enjoyed the live music and watching the boats go by in the very active marina. There’s a walking/biking path along the canal right next to the restaurant too. We moved our car after lunch and enjoyed a quick stroll.

Fisherman’s View in the Barnstable area is a must-visit if you’re craving fresh seafood with a scenic waterfront backdrop. The atmosphere is lively yet relaxed, with indoor and outdoor seating that gives you a great view of the harbor. It’s the kind of place that feels upscale but still very Cape Cod casual. We splurged on the king crab legs and were not disappointed. At $90 for a pound, they’re definitely a treat, but the portion was generous and the meat was sweet, tender, and perfectly cooked, totally worth it if you’re looking to indulge. We also tried the dragon roll, which was excellent. It had a fresh, balanced flavor and was beautifully presented. The calamari was another standout, lightly fried to a crisp and served with a flavorful Thai-style sauce that added a little kick without overpowering the dish. And the 2-pound lobster for $42 felt like an absolute steal. It was sweet, juicy, and came with drawn butter, of course. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Overall, Fisherman’s View offers great value for the quality and quantity of food you get. Whether you’re going all out with crab and lobster or keeping it simple, you really can’t go wrong here.

Very fun restaurant. Great indoor and outdoor seating. We went over the weekend and a band was playing music outside that made for a wonderful summer night. I had a lobster BLT which had good flavor (a bit lacking in bacon, and the bread was so moist it immediately began to fall apart) and my wife had the broiled haddock which was also tasty. Four stars for the food but five stars for the ambiance and scenery.

Great great spot. Came here on a Friday night and walked in on a bar spot. The views were great, the vibe was better, and the food was fantastic. Very fresh food, went with the recommendation of getting something with Jonah crab, it was DELICIOUS. The key lime pie was extremely good for dessert. Truly loved it. Can't go wrong with this spot, especially considering how happening the place is. If you like a spot with locals, this is it.

Even on a rainy day, our visit was absolutely worthwhile! The food here is genuinely amazing. We decided to share three different sandwiches. The lobster roll and crab sandwich were both outstanding, packed with flavor. The cod sandwich was unfortunately not very flavorful. However, the absolute highlight was the fried calamari. These aren't your typical calamari; they have a fantastic Thai or Asian-inspired flavor that's a must-try if you appreciate bold tastes

Stopped by for lunch randomly when driving around cape cod. Beautiful restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating along with the bar. It wasnt too busy for a Friday afternoon. The complimentary corn bread they gave was delicious. Clam chowder was amazing!! Filled to the brim and so creamy and delicious. Grilled corn on the cob had a nice char and so sweet! Got a tuna sushi boat to share with my bf and we were so full! They did not skimp out on the fish at all. Each piece were thickly cut. Even the roll was stuffed with a good amount of tuna. Loved it.

The Carmine was excellent but I split it with someone. Next time I'll get my own so if I have any leftover I can take it home. 🤣 The sign isn't too real obvious from the road and could be easy to miss if you don't know it's there but you don't want to miss this place. Awesome to have a pizza joint that makes a different style of pizza. The cheese blend is great, the toppings are fresh, and I enjoyed listening to some other restaurant guests rave about theirs while waiting on ours. My cousin mentioned this place at work on friday and i decided to take a ride from Chatham on a Saturday. I wish it were closer but I'll be going back by to try some other flavors and maybe just get two next time. Be aware, I think they are closing for the winter some time before Christmas

I have to say, this was an amazing first time experience. We were immediately welcomed and asked if we needed any help, or wanted any suggestions. The pizza we got was AMAZING. Sauce had a lot of flavor, the pizza was crispy on the outside, yet still chewy and delicious on the inside. It didn’t end there though. Prior to coming, we decided we were going to get some of the ice-cream sandwiches from the ice- cream shop that was connected to the edge restaurant (it seems like they are the same owner?) When we were eating, a man approached us (possibly the owner not sure) and asked us if we wanted to try some homemade icecream he just made. We said yes, and he said he would bring it by when we were finished. Surely enough, he brought it by as soon as we were done! Not only did he bring us three samples, he gave us three cups filled with homemade icecream! This was unbelievable! It was so nice of him to do this, and the icecream was delicious! We were given black raspberry white chocolate and dark chocolate, vanilla, and Oreo mint. The Oreo mint was amazing, but they truly all were! We decided that even though we had SO much icecream, we wanted to leave a tip and purchase an icecream sandwich. We ordered one, and oh my goodness, it was the largest icecream sandwich we have ever had! Four giant scoops on a homemade cookie! I was in disbelief if it was ours when they called it out after being made! Needless to say, we had a delicious meal and dessert(s) Highly recommend, and we will be coming again! You should too!!!

Was staying at Bourne Scenic Park and was looking for a spot to grab lunch on a sunny Sunday afternoon. This place popped up on Google search, and I’m so glad it did! The place itself was pretty cute. We ate at a picnic table on the front lawn. The person working there was kind enough to bring our pizzas to us. We ordered the Margherita and the Dub Pep. Both amazing. I cannot choose which one I liked better. I like to consider myself a “pizza connoisseur”- and this is definitely top 5. In love is an understatement. I live in the Attleboro area and plan on heading there again this coming weekend. I need to try every kind. Do yourself a favor and check this place out! P.S.) Grab a “Lemmy’s Sparkling Lemonade” from the fridge. Perfect pairing! :)

This pizza is amazing! Wife and I got one for each of us and we are taking a whole one home… it’s bigger than you think! I got the Royal and my wife got The Carmine…. Amazing.. both of them! If you are near Sandwich, MA… you have to try them out!

Found this gem while looking to try a new pizza place as we're a little bored with the typical pizza styles you mostly find on the Cape. My husband and I are very happy we made the drive to try this pizza. It was delicious and like nothing we've had around here. The crispy cheese edges were a real treat and everything tasted delicious. We got the Margherita and the Dub Pep and they were fantastic. And a plus, they use the little pepperoni that sort of cup up and get crispy on the edge. We totally recommend checking them out!
Sara J — Google review
Some of the best pizza I've had. As someone from Connecticut, I love New Haven style pizza but this is so different in a good way! The pepperoni was amazing. The sauce was perfect. The only thing is that I wasn't a huge fan of the cheesy crust but I'm not a huge fan of cheesy crusts in general. My dad on the other hand loved it so he just got some extra crust lol
Alissa C — Google review
OKAY. Let’s talk about this. So, they renovated from what was Owens and they did an unreal job. A lot of seating, very clean, decent bathrooms, service was nice just wish there was music-a little too quiet. Menu options are awesome and came out hot and quick. We ordered the margarita pizza and the pictures are deceiving but this was so much for two people. The sauce was SO fresh, the mozz was the best of my life and the crust...unreal. It was thick no under baked spots and crust was crunchy. I will be coming back with more people-you need this.
Manuela P — Google review
Great pizza and great flavor combos. Online ordering is convenient! Really stands out vs. many of the local pizza shops. I think you'd have to drive quite a ways to find something as unique or AS good. They do what most pizza places don't, which is put some salt in their sauce! Unfortunately with the pepperoni this makes it right over the edge of too salty (and I LOVE salt).

Seafood restaurant
Seafood Sam's is a popular dining spot in Sandwich, MA, USA, known for its casual indoor-outdoor setting that provides an ideal location for a relaxed meal with friends or family. Since 1974, this restaurant has been serving a vast menu of seafood staples, including lobster rolls and bisque. The ambiance is inviting and comforting, enhancing the overall dining experience.
When in Sandwich Massachusetts on Cape Cod definitely eat seafood here. Had a delightful dinners and lunches plus drinks. It was taco night so I had haddock tacos that were out of this world. We also had fried oysters that were extremely fresh and huge. The bar workers were delightful as we ate at the bar all three days. The Lobster bisque soup was the best I’ve ever eaten. After experiencing three days of eating here, we decided the fish chowder was the absolute best but definitely the lobster bisque and clam chowder is fabulous too. The best we have experienced on the Cape. Service is friendly, seafood is fresh and non greasy. Compliments to the chef. Definitely a family friendly dinner place to go for seafood when visiting Sandwich, Ma. Wheelchair accessible - plenty of room to sit - eating at the bar is delightful and quick

We stopped by Seafood Sam’s and overall had a great experience. The food was delicious—everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. The service was friendly and fast, even though it was a quick meal. We ordered four meals: one shrimp plate, a chicken basket, a hamburger, and the lobster roll (which was the priciest at nearly $30). The portions were generous, and the onion rings stood out as a real highlight—crispy and flavorful. That said, the total came to $112, which felt a bit steep for what were mostly casual, counter-service style meals. It’s hard to say if it was quite worth that price, even though the quality was good. All in all, it’s a solid spot for seafood, but be prepared to pay a bit more than expected for a quick bite.

Great seafood restaurant located right on the canal, family style dining, you order at the counter and pick up your food when your number is called. We had a party of 12 and plenty of seats, they had some nice outdoor seating as well but was full on this beautiful day. We had everything from lobster to chicken nuggets, everything was good no one complained about anything. They have self serve fountain drinks. Prices are definitely reasonable, especially for the location, definitely will recommend trying it out, was quite busy today but they did a great job of moving the lines to order and the food came out quickly was nice and hot like it should be.

We sat down at SeaFood Sam's at about 8:45pm, roughly over an hour before closing. My buddy ordered the fried lobster, and I ordered the fried scallops which you can see pictured above. The food was ready within 5 mins of ordering. I couldn't believe it! The meals were incredible and the bar tender helping us was extremely friendly and had a lot of information regarding the restaurant! Will 100% be back again soon for more scallops!!! 😋

Seafood Sam’s is one of our casual favorites. It can be super busy in the summer but typically the food ordering line moves quickly. Plenty of parking and seating. Several large indoor dining areas and lots of great outdoor seating, getting a nice breeze from the nearby canal. Today we got the haddock plate special - one baked and one fried. They were both fresh and delicious! Over the years we have tried many different items and never got anything we did not enjoy. A great family spot!

This place is a gem! One of the Best seafood spots in all of Cape. Very little to no fishy smell! I can’t believe I’ve never been here considering I’ve lived 15 mins from here basically all my life. We got the fish and chips family platter and shrimp platter. Both were delicious! Come with dinner rolls and coleslaw 🙌 Highly recommend

Consistently delicious! I'm not even a big seafood guy and I go there all the time. I enjoy there fish and chips very much which has the light flaky batter and not thick greasy batter.

Located a parking lot away from the Cape Cod Visitor Center (you can walk), we walked over to Seafood Sam's because our relatives recommended it. You can either order at the counter, then pick up your order, stop at the drinks and condiments location, then go sit at a table or outside. Or if you prefer to be served, you can sit at the bar, and the bartender can take your order and you can enjoy their special cocktails or drinks while you wait. The decor and dress is casual - shorts and T-shirt is fine. Excellent fried clam strips. The tartar sauce had just the right pickle bite. Best of all, you can get clam strips in three sizes - a full platter, a sandwich or as a small plate. I got the small plate which I got with a baked potato! I probably got a little more clams strips then would come on a sandwich. On our return trip, I got the clam strip platter. Picture attached. I had enough to take some clams and fries home with me. Their lobster roll ($24) was excellent for the price. Lots of good size lobster hunks in a big, toasted bun. I got that with French fries. The French fries were nice and hot, fresh, and really good. My husband had the baked haddock which he got with fries and he liked it. The couple next to us ordered the fried chicken. Apparently, their fried chicken is semi-famous - moist, crisp. I was impressed at the nice side of macaroni and cheese, biscuit. I think they got a 3 pieces, and it was enough food to share. On our return trip, we noted the the drink specials were really reasonably priced - $7. My drink was not too strong, but that was fine since it was just something different to enjoy with dinner on a hot day.
