Moonlite Bar-B-Q Inn is a renowned BBQ restaurant in Owensboro, Kentucky, established in 1963. It is famous for its old-fashioned cooking style using customized hickory fire pits to slow-cook hand-picked meats, resulting in a distinctive hickory flavor. Moonlite is credited with originating mutton barbecue, slow-cooked adult sheep meat. Voted the Best Barbecue in Kentucky, it offers lunch and dinner buffets featuring endless barbecued meats and traditional sides.
I've heard recently they're not as good as they used to be but I did not find that to be true. it was exceptional and very much is good or better than I remember. everything was delicious. the fried chicken was amazing and banana pudding! I look forward to going back again.

Oh My Goodness!! The food here is delicious! We had the buffet, and lemme say, they got enough on there to satisfy your hunger. Everything we tried was delish! It was very crowded when we went (Saturday lunch), and the area we sat had a lot of sound, land it didn’t travel well. But after some of the guest left it quieted down considerably and it was much more enjoyable. Parking is plenty. It is hidden in an entrance, so you can’t see it from the road. Lots of seating, lots of choices.

First time here and I got the combo platter - to go. The meats (mutton, brisket and pork) were all moist and were perfectly cooked and I got a ton of meat. That said, they were lacking in flavor. No detectable smokey flavor, no dry rub present. They would have benefited from a bit of BBQ sauce but none came with it. The sides were pretty tasty. I got a slice of peanut butter pie and was disappointed, but that is more textured related than flavor. Nice PB flavor but it has the texture of heavy whipped cream rather than a custard, which is what I was hoping for. My wife had the club sandwich and a slice of coconut pie and loved them both. Excellent customer service at the counter! Moonlight BBQ is easy to find and has plenty of parking.
Howard R — Google review
People talked so highly about this place, so I drove almost three hours to experience it. Customer service was fantastic, the waitress was sweet, polite, pretty great. Food it's what I like to call "geriatric". Nothing special, some of the meat was very dry. I really wanted to like this place, I was rooting for it. But no, unfortunately I'm not interested in coming back. 😞 💔

We stopped in at the Moonllite Bar-B-Q Inn in Owensboro Kentucky because we had heard a lot of good things about them. And the salad bar vegetables and deserts were good the Mutton was okay but nothing special. I did like the pork . The service was very good and the atmosphere was good . The Bar B Q was okay at best. And when I received instant mashed potatoes I was extremely disappointed. And me and my Son both confirmed that they were instant. I wasn’t impressed and I will say the Banana Pudding and the Broccoli Casserole were awesome. Overall I wouldn’t give a high recommendation. It didn’t live up to the hype.
Halfdeadedd — Google review
Meh. I really wanted to like this place because it has a 4.5 rating overall. But the food was meh. We ordered the combo plate to share. The mutton was pretty good! Moist and tender. Same for the pork. But the brisket was dry and tough. And even though it has a smoke ring, there was almost no smoke flavor. I was hoping for some great southern BBQ, but I'll pass on this place.
Steven H — Google review
Heard nothing but good things about this place so we had to see for ourselves. I was not impressed in any way. The meat was dry. Everything needed a ton of salt and pepper. The decor was absolutely depressing and it was very dimly lit. I had a fully loaded plate and didn't eat most of it. Paid for the buffet and never went back up after my first uneaten plate.
Nat — Google review
Moonlite BBQ is one of my all-time favorite spots to eat in Owensboro. I usually swing through solo for a mutton sandwich to go; slice of onion, a couple pickles, nothing fancy, just right. But this time, I brought my wife, my kid, and my mom to make it a full-blown family pilgrimage. I ordered the sampler with a toasted bun, BBQ baked beans, and fries. Every bite still holds up. The mutton has that signature smoky twang, the beans taste like somebody’s grandma still stirs them, and the fries could hold their own in a state fair competition. The place hasn’t changed much over the years, which is part of the charm. The decor is peak Kentucky nostalgia. You’ll find everything from antique saw blades to a wall of autographed celebrity photos. Kevin Costner and Bill Clinton both ate here, which tells you something, either the food’s really good or the Secret Service is real into burgoo. The gift shop has everything you didn’t know you needed, including BBQ sauce, weird knickknacks, and what appears to be every pig-themed item ever manufactured. Bottom line: If you’re anywhere near Owensboro and don’t stop at Moonlite, that’s on you.

Old Hickory Bar-B-Que is a historic BBQ restaurant in Owensboro, known for its traditional slow-cooked barbecue infused with hickory wood smoke. For over 100 years, they have maintained the same recipes and attention to detail, earning them numerous awards. Their menu features a variety of dishes including mutton, burgoo, fried chicken, catfish, and their famous slow-smoked ribs with a unique home dressing.
We had dined a little late because the ribs and beef brisket were sold out!! I got the smoked turkey with mashed potatoes, baked beans & cornbread. My friend got smoked ham with same two sides with cornbread. Both of us had sweet Tea & dessert . (Will go back and try the smoked brisket another day). Restaurant was clean, the waitress was very polite and knowledgeable. The food was delicious.

This place is famous for their barbecue... Which is pretty decent. The service was rough because the place was crowded... The workers were very nice, and that seemed like they tried hard to keep up... but the wait was really long, and some of the food actually seemed dry. The flavor was great. I see why some people think this is the greatest barbecue joint in the world, but I don't know if I would go that far myself. It's quaint, and if you want to try some old school kentucky mutton, this is your place.

If you ever wanted to experience, Mutton the way it’s meant to be cooked and eaten. This is definitely the place. They even won world championship, barbecue masters

I was told randomly from my girlfriend and coworkers that Owensboro is known for it's fantastic BBQ. So my girlfriend recommended I try this place out. The atmosphere gives me old cottage vibes with a ton of local flare. There are awards and accolades from various magazines and Food network plastered all over the place so I was excited to try this place out. A lovely touch that I truly respected was the way they support the other local businesses in the area. Their tables are basically a "yellow pages" for various businesses in Owensboro and it really added to the home town feel of the place. I went with the combination plate so I could try various types of meat from their BBQ. I went with their Brisket, Baby back ribs, and their 1/4 white meat BBQ chicken. For sides, I opted for baked beans and mashed potatoes and gravy. The combo platter came out faster than expected and HOLY MOLEY is that a lot of food! Everything was amazing! The brisket was so tender and was fortunate to have pieces of that oh so yummy bark too! The baby back ribs did not disappoint as the meat had a great bite and feel of the bone without being overly tender. The chicken was juicy and cooked just right, although a few bites near the edge of the breast were a tad dry but overall amazing. The mashed potatoes were really really good and the baked beans were a little too vinagery for my own taste, but I finished them all regardless so they were still pretty good. There was a table next to me complimenting to each other how exquisite the Mac'n'cheese was. I felt left out as I didn't get to try any. The old lady, probably in her 80s, and I quote, "this Mac'n'cheese kicks ass!". I chuckled to myself and even thought about ordering some for myself but I was already stuffed. The only thing I felt weird about was the plain slices of your ordinary classic white bread and wheat bread that came with the platter. I asked the waitress and she said that it's common for people to make sandwiches out of their BBQ entrees. I would love to have had some corn bread instead. The sauce I had was their original vinegar based sauce which was tangy and delicious, though I do wish they had their other sauces to try. I could be nit-picky and comment on the lack of napkins at a BBQ place, but let's be real, I licked my fingers clean because everything was absolutely amazing.
William S — Google review
Food was ok. Our server delayed putting out order in because we were waiting on the mac and cheese to be made and didn't want everything else cold. When our orders were brought to the table, the mac and cheese was very watery and already cold. The brisket was tender but lacking in flavor. No BBQ sauce on our table or nearby tables. The ribs were small, tough and tasted mostly of vinegar. Our server was fine, but service itself was a little slow given how many people we saw working and how few tables there were. Decor was old and the ceiling was gross. The table and menu are absolutely covered in advertising and "sponsorships". We won't be returning.
Jordan K — Google review
Food is outstanding, atmosphere cozy , staff is fantastic. Do not pass it up !
Brian M — Google review
The mutton ribs were so good, I didn't bother to add more BBQ sauce - but you better be okay eating fat because they are fatty and that's where so much of the flavor is. The pork ribs were good, but a bit dry on the ends.

Stopped here while visiting town and was so happy we chose this as the place to eat. We were there shortly after opening and seated fairly quickly. Our waitress was so pleasant and gave us just the right amount of time to look at menues. She answered questions and advised us of specials. I got the shrimp appetizer which was DELICIOUS, So much flavor! I also got the mushroom and shrimp dip and it was also delicious. My husband got the fries and chicken strips and he said they were very good as well. Our drinks never ran empty! Overall very satisfied with the location, taste of food and service.

This restaurant deserves more than 5 stars across the board. I dined here with colleagues while in town and all of us agree a memorable experience! From the moment we entered this comfortable yet rustic atmosphere we had incredible attentive service. All of the food was delicious; from the salads, potato soup, shrimp and scallop pasta to the lava cake and banana pudding!!! I cannot wait to visit Owensboro again to dine here. In addition it’s in a very walkable part of town to enjoy a walk after filling your belly.

Such a great spot! We had lunch here and it exceeded our expectations. Our server Katie was awesome and took good care of us. The interior was very nice. The restaurant was very clean and had great natural lighting. Our food was very good. I had the black bean burger and my boyfriend had the smash burgers. Prices were great and good portions also.

First time coming to Colby’s and it was exceptional! Form the food, price, service, atmosphere all amazing. I have managed high end steakhouses in Nashville Tennessee and eaten at nice places all over. This establishment does it right. Everyone Helps out each other and takes care of the restaurant not just “there tables”. I had the 12oz prime rib baked potato and salad. Cooked perfect well seasoned salad was crisp and cold. Can’t wait for next week since I woke here from out of town. Me and my buddy will be coming back every Thursday to try new menu items. Best $19.99 meal I’ve had in my life. I’ve paid over $100 for far worse. This is top notch and highly recommend.

Colby’s was fantastic! My wife and I traveled to Kentucky (from Alabama) for a weekend getaway; we found Colby’s on Maps so we thought we would give it a try. We were not disappointed! They originally told us it would be a 30 minute wait, but we waited maybe 15. The food was fantastic and so was the service. Our waitress was so great and very friendly. We highly recommend the mashed potatoes with cheese and bacon and their house chicken. So good!

City Walk of Owensboro is a popular dining spot in downtown Owensboro, offering good comfort food in a casual setting. The menu features simple yet hearty options such as old-fashioned meatloaf and bourbon glazed pork loin. Additionally, patrons can enjoy a bourbon flight with the option to choose four 1-oz bourbons at half the menu price.
You know what it’s like to have dinner at a place and say wow that was the best food I’ve had then go back a second time and say ehhhh not as good as I thought?? This is NOT that place!! We’ve been three times now and every time is as good if not better than the last. We finally figured we could split a dinner (huge portions) and enjoy extra appetizers. Let’s start at appetizers. Fried zucchini, which I had never had before was awesome!! Lightly breaded, fresh and tasty. I’m a crab cake snob. This is Kentucky. There is NO WAY this Maryland girl trusts a crab cake in ANY OTHER state. Well after our first visit and the food being incredible, we decided let’s take a chance. Thankful we did. They were beyond delicious and just as tasty as the beach restaurants on the Eastern shore. Truth be told, these were probably better!! The salmon and chicken were cooked to perfection. And portions were so large, we easily shared and ordered an Extra side. Service is always great. Alcoholic beverages aren’t skimpy and their Bahama Mama is super fruity and refreshing. Living in TN I cannot wait for trips to Owensboro to have dinner here. I actually get excited at the idea of dinner at this amazing place!! My mouth is watering thinking about it. Awesome food, exceptional service and beyond reasonable prices for what you get. Looking forward to my next stop in. Oh and if you’re planning an evening out and decide on City Walk, call ahead and make a reservation. You won’t regret it!! Be sure to allow time to walk along the riverfront. You’ll be stuffed from the portions of these meals!! Thanks to the amazing chef at City Walk. So glad to have found this place!! I’d give it a 10 star review if I could!! Note: I put $30 to $50 because it’s easy to rack up the alcohol charges and several appetizers because they are all so yummy. You CAN eat here on a budget. It is VERY affordable. We over order because it’s that good.
Barbara U — Google review
This place was great! The food exceeded expectations and felt closer to white tablecloth quality than what I typically expect from a casual dining establishment. Our server was attentive but not overbearing. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food, in my opinion. My two nitpicky critiques: 1) The space inside is a little small so one rowdy group will make it very loud; solution is to sit outside if the weather is nice. 2) Our table was sticky and needed a proper wipe down with something more than water, probably not the norm but it was something that stuck with me (pun intended). I will definitely be back next time I am in Owensboro! There were plenty of items on the menu that I'd like to try! Keep up the great work!

I’m from California visiting Owensboro. My wife and I were invited to have dinner at City Walk. It is my pleasure to share my thoughts, not to persuade you one way or the other, but to give my opinion. The wait staff was attentive and very familiar with the menu. The atmosphere is rugged with pictures of buildings in Owensboro. I waited in great anticipation for the meal in which I was about to eat. The menu listed the names of three professional chefs, so my expectations were high. The menu was limited with some delicious sounding dishes. After picking the entree you then select the side(s). When the waitress came to take our order, she stated what the special of the day was. It consisted of three kabobs that included beef, shrimp, bell pepper, tomato, and onion, on a bed of rice pilaf. It also came with one side. This sounded delicious so I ordered it with a side of green beans with bacon and onion. When the meal came, I was disappointed. The kabobs were overcooked, dry, and cold. The shrimp was chewy and difficult to eat. There was practically nothing left of the tomato, and the side of beans came from a can. I was totally disappointed and couldn’t finish the entree or the green beans. My wife ordered the pork chop that was supposed to come with a cinnamon sauce, which she didn’t get. On a positive note, my daughter-in-law ordered the fillet steak. She shared a bite with me. It was absolutely tremendous! It tasted great and was extremely tender. Overall I was totally unimpressed with the overcooked kabobs and especially the canned beans from professional chefs. If you give it a try, I hope your food experience will be better than mine.

City Walk is a great place to go for date night, cocktails, and even for a quick lunch. The service is great and the atmosphere is very relaxed and welcoming. They easily have the best fried fish in the downtown area, and I recommend it with their tartar sauce. Speaking of the best, their Buffalo chicken sandwich is unmatched in the area. I’ve had dreams about it ever since I first had it. They also mix up a great old fashioned and a refreshing Kentucky mule!

Everytime I walk into Citywalk I am always greeted with a warm welcome and smiles. They are very attentive and fast with everything including service and food! I order the fillet with sweet mash and a salad. Cooked perfect! Best steaks in town. They were pretty busy and I can see why. I would recommend grabbing a reservation just to ensure you’ll get a good spot! This is going to be my new go to restaurant.

Went to this place on a date and I was finally able to try Beef Wellington!!! Ive been wanting to try it for years and this was my first experience this was my second time coming to this restaurant. Their crab cakes app is too freaking die for. The beef wellington was taste in parts but eating it all together for me the flavors didn't meld well. But I really loved having the opportunity to finally try the dish. It did look beautiful btw. If your in Owensboro KY you need to try this place out

Was in town for business and someone recommended City Walk for dinner. My employee and I both thoroughly enjoyed our dinners. Our cocktails were also quite delicious. I even ordered one entree and was shortly thereafter informed that they were out, which was disappointing... but the staff and who I'm assuming was the manager/owner both were very apologetic and kind about the whole thing. I ended up ordering the chicken with the mac and cheese and sweet potato mash and it was soooo good. If we are ever back in town we will definitely be back. I highly recommend it.

We chanced upon this place during the Nicky Hayden Memorial Ride Day. It was a late lunch for us and some restaurants have already been fully booked. It was such a treat given so many pizza and calzone options. We ordered the jalapeño honey pizza and it was very unique. We really enjoyed it. The main treat really was the ice cream! It was such an enjoyable day being able to chill and enjoy good food at Fetta. Highly recommend!

Located a block away from Smothers Park, Fetta is where you need to go for pizza. No disrespect to Mellow Mushroom, but was very happy to support a local spot & it was fantastic! With close to 30 unique pizzas, we had trouble narrowing our choice down became so many options sounded great. We ultimately went with the Firecracker pizza, which was a delicious blend of spice from sriracha & pickled jalapeños, with a little sweetness from hot honey. Our server was friendly & made sure we were taken care of at all times. The garlic knots & house salad were also solid additions to our lunch. Overall, a very clean, inviting space serving up some of the best specialty pizza I’ve come across in a minute. 10/10 recommend ✌🏻

An Owensboro staple!! You ain’t from here if you ain’t ever had the mashed potato pizza!! So good and service is always great!! ❤️

The enticingly new age and local hotspot feel of the atmosphere in this restaurant is everything you want in a local pizza parlor to make it feel like your pizza place back home simply had a menu change to keep the love alive. If the wide variety of craft beer isn’t enough to draw your attention, their vast selection of experimental pizzas should be. With one of the sweetest recipes of hot honey I’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing, it was difficult to order only one or two slices. Their lions mane mushroom pizza is an amazing vegan choice as well for those of you who aren’t fond of the ideas of animals on your pizza. Count your blessings and add one more if you get a server as attentive and ready to make this a one of a kind dining experience as Jordan had made mine. I admittedly had to get a second slice of the hot honey and sausage pizza. Very well done, everybody 👏 10/10 recommend.

We have never had a bad experience here until today. We waited an hour and fifteen minutes and they told us our pizzas were just now getting in the oven. We had 2. They stated there was a party of 35 people upstairs, which we understand. However, we still deserve good service as well as every other customer in the restaurant. We were not updated on the wait times unless we asked. They told us they put it in the oven five minutes prior and then we were told by another employee later that it was just put in. Sadly we will not be back. We were not given any compensation for the wait time. Great food but terrible service.

I can't say enough about our service here. We had a party of 15 they were able to accommodate us immediately even though they were extremely busy with in person customers & to go orders. We had just left a pizza place that we had a reservation at that had not seated us (but 2 other lg parties that had reservations after ours) after us arriving b4 our reservation and it was 45 minutes past our reservation and the manager of that establishment was rude & unaccomidating. My husband is a bit picky but said he really liked the pizza & service we received. Thank you Fetta staff you are awesome.

It's a generational landmark. The food is good, the people are nice, this is basically what a hamburger should be. People don't really understand, hamburgers are American street food. And this is what it's supposed to be like. It isn't supposed to be a steak, it isn't supposed to be 2 lbs. It's supposed to be this. I was coming here in high school, I go there now, mostly with my mom. She loves it. It's part of the people, part of the folk stories. You'd be surprised how many little family stories people have that involve on their way to the Big Dipper, or something taking place there. And it's one of the big three places, The old starlight drive places: The Big Dipper, moonlight BBQ, starlight Drive-In (where Kroger's is, it used to be the local Drive-In). Point is the food is really good, and the restaurant is part of the community, part of the people.

The service was great and the food was ready very quickly. What sucks is the location, you're standing on the side of a busy highway listening to cars fly by. Would I go again? Sure, but only if I was already in the area.

We recently moved from Los Angeles and I was depressed. We were spoiled with In-and-out burgers and The Original Tommy's burger for great hamburgers. This hole-in-the-wall has filled the gap for great hamburgers. If you like everything on your burger, you order "the garden". That gets you lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles. Excellent shakes and malts. The French fries are okay, they need to time it so the last thing in your order are fries that just came out of the frier. You can always tell a great restaurant by the line of cars waiting for food. Nobody waits 15 minutes for bad food.
John P — Google review
Prices were great but quality of the food was a bit lacking. Not sure what kind of meat the burger was, chili on chili dog was mostly beans. Glad it wasn't more expensive or I would have given less than 4 stars. For the price it was edible but I'd rather pay more for better food. Slushie was good.

That home town, old school food that takes you back! Never gotten anything I didn't DEVOUR! the line speaks for itself! That being said, be prepared for a wait, but a wait that's WORTH IT!

An iconic spot in our town, it’s been here for as long as I can remember. Go back in time to the 50’s where a burger and fries were shared with friends at outdoor seating.

Love the Big Dipper, always have, always will! The food is always hot & yummy, the service, fast & friendly. The Big Dipper is my good ol' hometown go to for "fast food," that always fresh & yummy, that just happens to be fast!

Nestled in the heart of downtown, Bee Bops Restaurant is a charming spot that offers a delightful dining experience. Whether you're craving a custom-built chicken salad or a tasty tuna panini, this cozy eatery has something for everyone. While they don’t serve breakfast, their lunch options like the turkey Reuben and tuna melt are sure to satisfy your appetite. The friendly staff makes you feel right at home, treating every guest like a local.
We drove an extra 15 minutes put of our way while we made our way back home. I'm really glad we did. Food was great and the staff treated us like a local!

Really great staff and some good old food. Ordered a single cheese burger it has 3 patties and a double has 6. Fries were a little salty. But over all nice cosy restaurant and for all you Marilyn lovers like myself. There's a bunch of photos in there to!
Jessica B — Google review
Used to be good but something changed. I've gotten terrible service and the walls are very dirty which makes me concerned for the cleanliness in the kitchen. I've given this place four extra chances and after the back door was left open while someone took a smoke break making the whole place smell like cigarettes, I'm done.
Matt H — Google review
The attempt at a 50's style place is not bad, but hanging some pictures of Marilyn Monroe and Elvis is about it. The menu is.... interesting. Our server was unfamiliar with the menu and or order was messed up, but they did try to make it right. Would have scored higher for better trained staff and decor.
Joker0ne — Google review
The food was good. My wife liked her shake a lot. It was very thick. The kitchen area was clean, but other areas needed cleaning and maintenance. Could be a really nice place.
Geoff H — Google review
Nice little place downtown. I ordered the Chicken salad they custom built it for me just the way I like it. I don't recall getting a styrofoam cup but I wouldn't mind that since I'm always on the go and can quickly take my drink with me when I leave. Went back the other day while shopping in the Kentucky Crafts market and got the Tuna Panini. It wa a little wet but great.
John T — Google review
One of the worst restaurants. Took 30 mins to get 10 pieces of fried pickles, $9 chesseburger only (fry's are extra) burger was nothing special-cold, ordered a side of fry's which were still frozen inside, refilled my drink with wrong beverage. Wife ordered a hot ham & cheese $8 - two pieces of white bread with a slice of cheap imitation cheese with 3 micro thin slices of ham lunch meat. Attitude of the staff sucked. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!
Kamerin H — Google review
I was a little surprised they didn't serve breakfast, but I understand if the business volume doesn't support it. They were nice enough to let us in a few minutes early. The turkey ruben and tuna melt were tasty. I do wish they would swap from Styrofoam to real glasses.

Mexican restaurant
Don Mario's is a popular dining spot in Owensboro, KY, offering delicious Mexican cuisine. The restaurant is known for its friendly service and tasty dishes, such as fajitas and vegan options. Customers appreciate the flavorful food and pleasant outdoor seating. Some have mentioned that the vegan fajitas come with non-vegan sides, but overall, Don Mario's is praised for its fantastic food and fair pricing.
I've dined here a couple times and never been disappointed. I'm happy to report that they have a fairly extensive vegan selection, but I will admit that I question if their sour cream is vegan (I didn't bother to ask, I just didn't eat it). There were four people in my party this last time and we had everything from chicken nuggets to chicken chimichangas to vegan fajitas. Everything was fresh, hot, and tasty. Our server, an older gentleman, was on top of everything and always checking in on us. It's nice to see that there's a good place in downtown to get vegan food now. Kernel approved: 5/🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗

Excellent option for great Mexican cuisine on the downtown strip in Owensboro. Their fajitas were delicious. The chips and salsa are great too. The service was outstanding. This place isxeasy to find utilizing Google Maps. The restaurant is kept very clean. There is plenty of free street parking.

Best Mexican restaurant in Owensboro! The food was hot, delicious and the menu had so many things to choose from. The service was awesome! Gotta give props to our severer Brayan! I gave 5 star on everything but atmosphere and I gave it a 4 only problem was the size of the restaurant. This was our first time here but this will be our new favorite Mexican restaurant.

Each time my wife and I get a chance to get away from the kids and have an overnight in Owensboro, we always talk about going to some different restaurant but we always wind up at this one. The food is great the service is great and we always get something we really enjoy. The margaritas are tasty and the ceviche platter is truly amazing. For reference I travel both domestically and internationally around 100 nights per year eating all sorts of local foods.

Niko's Italian Cuisine is a top restaurant in Owensboro, known for its delicious Italian dishes made with fresh ingredients and prepared by experienced chefs. The restaurant offers a warm and cozy atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a glass of wine with some mouthwatering lasagna. Visitors praise the attentive service and diverse, flavorful salads. Many recommend asking for Kat to guide your dining experience. Overall, Niko's Italian Cuisine is highly recommended for those seeking an exceptional Italian dining experience in the area.
Great food. I can tell the Alfredo and marinara is homemade and it curb stomps Olive Garden. We got the Pork Chops Verona (which needs to be paired with Alfredo or carbonara) and she got blackened Cajun salmon with crab cake . The bruschetta was also fantastic and better than Mellow Mushrooms. It's a little pricey though. But fresh cooked food.
Keith K — Google review
Posh prices, subpar food. The bread and seasoned olive oil were flat; bread seemed like a Walmart brand and the dipping oil lacked flavor; it was just oily. $15 bottle Chardonnay with a screw top was $44. Italian salad dressing had no flavor, fire roasted chicken was bland and the grill marks appeared branded on it and not really grilled. The lettuce was fresh, the feta had no flavor, the olives were ok. The cheese cake was still a bit frozen, not homemade as it was presented to be and flavorless, it was called baklava cheesecake, it may have had a touch of cinnamon but none of the honey and crispy richness of baklava. The ribeye steak was so thin, about 1/4 inch, was gristly and fatty, it came out grey and overcooked. Really there would be no way to cook such a thin piece of steak to medium rare. The fries were frozen seasoned fries which seemed microwaved because they weren't crisp. This used to be a wonderful fine dining escape but now it's just an expensive quiet place to eat. It's still beautiful inside but my menu and the table had bread crumbs in and on them. The staff are friendly.
Linda C — Google review
This place is fantastic. They serve authentic Italian cuisine, and it is all of top notch quality. They also have a rest nice selection of spirits and beer. I’m not sure why it says three dollar signs next to this place, they are very reasonably priced; especially for the quality of the food and service. The baked goods come from Niko’s Bakery, so they are also top notch. The service here has always been great too.
Lucas R — Google review
It was recommended to me by a friend to try the spaghetti and meatballs. Best ever and I am hard to please. The grilled chicken panini is to die for, a great place to order a carryout lunch during the work week. Excellent and friendly service.
Billie G — Google review
The prices do not reflect the atmosphere. Great food and service but for 100+$ for 2 people I feel like I’m eating in a hotels dinning room. Step up the ambiance and I’ll gladly give 5 starts.
Mike M — Google review
Honestly terrible food for the price. Next time I want Italian and to spend that much money I’ll go to Olive Garden cause at least they’re better. Bummer you can’t find a decent Italian restaurant around here. Glad we ordered takeout too because the place felt extremely awkward for the moment we walked in, everyone stared at us and the restaurant seemed pretty small.
Brendon P — Google review
Food was very good but somewhat pricey. Service was sporadic and slow. People who arrived after us were waited on and served before us. That was a little frustrating. Went back a few days ago. Food was passable; pasta sauce somewhat unseasoned. Took almost 90 minutes to receive our meal. Kitchen was slow...our meals should've come out at the same time, not piecemeal. Service dragged on for what seemed to be forever. Reducing rating from 5 stars to 3. Hope they correct the glitch and coordinate their operation a little better. Experience was frustrating.

Smothers Park, located in downtown Owensboro along the picturesque Ohio River, is a top-rated destination for families and outdoor enthusiasts. The park features an expansive playground, a splash park, and three stunning fountains that perform captivating water shows every 15 minutes. Visitors can also enjoy a tranquil waterfall feature cascading into the river and take in scenic views of the Owensboro Bridge connecting to Indiana.
Our absolute favorite park! We drive two hours just to play here! Although, in the 6ish times we have been, the splash pad has never been fully working. I do wish there were more bathrooms as well. There are only 3 stalls for the women and only 1 for the men. With a splash pad, it would be nice to have just changing rooms too. But, the playground alone makes the drive worth it. You can't beat the views either.
Randi D — Google review
Such a nice riverfront walk. We enjoyed the water features, the porch style swings with a view of the river and the nicely paved walkway which makes it easy to explore. There is even a large playground along with a splash pad for the kiddos, nestled right next to concession stands full of refreshment options. The park bathrooms were clean, although they had a bad odor. We even had the pleasure of live music by an older gentleman playing guitar on a street bench.
Shawna B — Google review
Great little park. Perfect sunset evening. Definitely the biggest play area i seen. Kids would love it. Plenty of places to sit and relax.
Tina C — Google review
Easily one of the nicest & well-maintained public parks I’ve seen in some time. There are multiple swing/slide options, plenty of obstacles to climb & everything throughout the play area is padded pretty well. The splash pad was also a hit with our kiddo, which is open between Memorial Day through Labor Day. Located right on the riverfront, there’s also plenty of space to walk & some fountains to check out as well. If you’re in the area, visiting here is a must ✌🏻

This is by far the nicest park that’s open 24 hours secure well protected well taken care of and kids can get wet in the waterpark section. I can see why it was rated the number one park and all of United States so peaceful relaxing plenty of bench swings overlooking Ohio river so you can relax bring your grandparents and visit the veterans Circle there’s coffee shops ice cream shops there by far the best park I’ve ever been to United States and it’s all free. Street parking is free. There’s parking lots that are open to the public that are free and all the people that surround this park are Genuinely humble and nice.

Beautiful eclectic atmosphere, very warm and cozy, clean and beautiful. Great coffee. The food looks delicious though I didn’t buy any so I can’t speak on how it tastes. All the lattes sound delicious and my campfire latte tastes just like its namesake; a warming cinnamon-y s’more.

The Creme Coffee House is a delightful coffee shop in the heart of Owensboro. Even when the streets are quiet, there's a small crowd gathering in the eccentric Cafe. This is everything a coffee house should be. Great atmosphere, warm and inviting, comfortable seating, eclectic decor. Somewhere you just want to relax and enjoy good conversation with friends. I do wish they would post the prices as some people never order from menus without knowing the price. And it would be nice if they would occasionally bring in a hippie with a guitar or a beatnik to recite poetry!
Ray — Google review
I love this place, whether just for a friend hang out or getting work done it’s perfect. The staff are super friendly and very knowledgeable on the menu items. My only complaint would be how thick the dust is. I’m not joking when I say you cut through it with a knife in some places. Otherwise it’s great. 👍
Sky — Google review
The coffee was well made and delicious. I was disappointed however to see that the cafe explicitly does not include their prices anywhere on the menu, not for drinks nor food. Are we supposed to ask how much every item costs? Are you changing the prices depending on the person who asks? I found this to be a dishonest business practice and off putting. Be honest with your prices and put it on the menu.

With its impressive soaring ceilings and inviting atmosphere, this restaurant specializes in an array of seafood dishes while also offering pasta, burgers, and refreshing cocktails. We ate there three times in two days. The pork chop my hubby said was off the chain, the tenderloin and lobster dish was delicious, the oysters were also excellent. I had the Chilean sea bass and my hubby also had the ribeye with truffle fries those fries were so good. The cocktails were amazing and the service was perfect.

The hostess was friendly. The service was rather slow due to the most of the staff waiting on a table of two and catering to their needs. Once my server came over he took my drink order and food order. Over all he gave great service. The food was amazing, the drinks unique and flavor and the dessert are very good. This is my second visit to Lure and it comes highly recommended.

Their Portuguese-American fusion menu is truly special — each dish is thoughtfully prepared, beautifully seasoned, and full of character you don’t often find in mid-America. This is not just another seafood spot; it’s a culinary adventure that showcases bold flavors and creativity. It’s absolutely worth going out of your way to try. If you find yourself anywhere near the Ohio River, make sure to put Lure at the top of your list. A must-visit!

Gorgeous location. It isn't being utilized well by the restaurant. The restaurant looks worn out. It isn't being kept up properly. Lighting fixtures need cleaning. Plastic grass as decoration is a poor choice. I had lunch, and my review is strictly based on lunch. Caesar salad was horrible. It is an abomination to Ceasar salad. Dressing is not Caesar, pre-shredded cheese is used, and the extremely poor quality of what seems to be Parmigiano is beyond disappointing. Not a hint of anchovies, no sign that olive oil was used, or lemon. I could go on.... but those who know that this is terrible cuisine, KNOW. Lure Burger was okay. I dislike Brioche, so that may be the reason I couldn't adequately rate the burger. They don't know how to serve coffee and have a lack of etiquette in this area. But we aren't in Europe, so I adjusted my norm. Surprisingly, I liked the coffee even though it was NOT fresh. Sadly, they would not re-fill it for me. For $100.00, I expect a much better quality of ingredients and another helping of coffee, somewhat properly served. The desert was palatable. The way it was served is less than appropriate. Wooden, WORN out chopping board????? Eekk! What are we? Pigs? My pigs eat off of boards such as these. Whipped cream is NOT whipped-cream.🤦🏼‍♀️ If the owner(s) doesn't realize they are serving poor quality food, they need a reality check. Gordon Ramsay, soon?

I wish I could give more than 5 stars if possible. I’m a TX girly living in FL in KY for work. My counterpart in KY said she “came for work and stayed for pleasure”. Service impeccable. Food, I wish I had a bigger stomach. Atmosphere, live music but not crazy loud- yes please! And for those of you looking for the bar menu- fantastic. Non alcoholic options bar none! For those looking for alcohol I’d recommend the old fashion and the mason doubles. For the record you can eat on a budget- we did not. Appetizers- crab cake- you’re missing out if you don’t get it. One of us got a $20 pasta and the other got a $60 steak. BOTH are slap your momma worthy. Hands down—eat here. Also we opted for outdoor seating with live music. I won’t sugar coat it for you if you want quiet, opt for the indoor seating. This TX/FL girl wanted something other than Dante’s inferno heat and opted for outdoor seating in August at 78 degrees.

On Memorial Day the Bar Louie was about the only place open downtown. Neither of us had been to one so we gave it a try. Nicely designed interior. The lunch specials were very reasonable. We split a chicken quesadilla order and had the peach tea. It was very good. We'll be back again.

With its classic diner vibe and friendly service, Dee's offers a no-frills dining experience that feels like home. During weekdays, you can also indulge in their popular plate lunch specials featuring comfort food favorites like liver and onions.
10/10 I had the country ham breakfast, eggs over medium, crispy hashbrowns, biscuits and gravy, and grits. Kiddo had the mo’ meat plate or something! We loved every bite!!!! Everything was cooked exactly as requested! Can’t wait to come back next week and try something else😍

Absolutely horrible. It's always been basic rather than extra good. Now it's a traumatic experience. First I was served a SHREDDED LETTUCE SALAD. Weirdest way I've ever had a salad. Stringy LETTUCE hanging out with every bite. After being sat for 50 min. Our food came out. COLD, very thinly sliced, cheep deli roast beef. Cold instant mashed potatoes covered in cold dollar store instant gravy. Save your money. Go to any deli for better quality. The service was awful, too. The waitress asked if we wanted to order. We say yes, and she walked off. Came back 5 or so minutes later to actually take the order. Then we were served garbage after a very long wait. Don't do it don't do it don't do it

Diner vibe totally! Nothing fancy but it was packed. The town locals filled the tables and they were kind and welcoming to the "not regulars" like us! The food portions are beyond generous for the price. I had Dee's Sunrise and WHOA that pancake....was huge. Very good. If you like little diners with good food and don't want to spend a lot of money, definitely check them out!

5 Stars – A Must-Visit in Owensboro! We were in Owensboro for work and decided to stop in at Dee’s Diner for lunch—what a great decision! The country fried steak was absolutely outstanding, and the meatloaf was honestly one of the best we’ve ever had. The food was so good that we came back the very next morning for breakfast, and it was just as amazing as lunch. Beyond the delicious food, the service was warm and welcoming, and the prices were very reasonable. Dee’s Diner is the kind of local gem you hope to find when you’re in a new town. Highly recommend!

Great food and even on a busy day gets your food out fast and they're quick with the refills

It’s the best place in Owensboro for breakfast! Every time we are there Dee’s is a must stop! Top choices are the biscuits & gravy and the pancakes but everything we’ve had has been good. It’s a locals place. Love it

Passing through Owensboro and stumbled across this little hidden gem. The food was AMAZING. Our waitress Tomeka was absolutely phenomenal. She was friendly and very attentive. The food was hot and fresh with huge portions. I can't say one bad thing about this place. I even absolutely loved the senior lady cashier she was a delight to talk to. Do yourself a favor and eat here, you wont be disappointed.

This has been my favorite spot to dine for years now. The employees are super nice and the food is always right on key. I highly recommend this family owned restaurant.

Pizza restaurant
Mellow Mushroom Owensboro is a funky and art-filled chain pizzeria located in historic downtown Owensboro, Kentucky. It's a favorite among locals and visitors from nearby areas. The restaurant offers an extensive menu with various options for dietary restrictions, including vegan and gluten-free choices. The service is excellent, and there are plenty of drink options available. The pizzas are known for their plentiful and high-quality toppings, flavorful crust that's crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside.
Stopped by for dinner and ordered the magic mushroom soup to start and ordered a small pizza (the one that comes with honey), I replaced the red peppers with mushrooms and the flavors were perfect! Pizza was cooked to perfection. Staff was very kind and attentive. Awesome food! If you’re in the area, stop by for pizza, it won’t disappoint. They also have other items of interest. I found this food better than Don Mario (the Mexican restaurant across the street and Famous Bistro), and I have been to those, not just saying it… you’re been warned lol.

Was in the bar area for lunch and ordered the 1/2 Jerk Chicken Hoagie with Spud Puppies. Mattie was very busy, but she handled the entire bar area like a true professional. Ordered the sandwich without onion, she noticed it had onion on it, so she had it remade. Didn't bother me that it took a while to get my food, things happen. I was disappointed that I spent $1 extra for the tots and only got 10 of them. Still one of my favorite places in Owensboro and look forward to the next visit.

Another great find using Google Maps. This is a great location close to all of the event venues in downtown. The service here was outstanding. The food was great. The restaurant is very clean and well kept. It is a large place inside but they have the staff that all work hard to keep everyone happy. Parking is close by with several options from garage to city streets and most was free during our visit.

Great pizza. We tried the Maui Wowie and mixed it with the Pacific Rim. It was awesome. The Maui Wowie has pesto sauce instead of pizza sauce along with jerk chicken. It is great. The pacific rim is good also. We also had the pretzel bites with spicy beer cheese. It was superb. Service was very good.

Seems pizza was not to the edge like most. Had more pepperoni on it than other items we requested. Almost seems like the sausage, and lite on the cheese and onions also. Took forever for our order . I almost begged to get my drink. Strawberry lemon-limeade. U think that been at start of meal not when half done finished. First time there and more than likely never going back. We ate it after a hour wait. Sure was not even two other tables got there food first. Sadly the young men seemed shocked that no tip. We would tipped if we had service. Seems lots workers wanted stand and talk nuts really. Way pricey!

The server was friendly and answered all of our questions. He listened to our preferences and suggested many options. We tried one appetizer (Bruschetta ) and two types of pizzas, half & half, since we couldn't decide on one. Loved all the recommendations from servers and bartender. They were very easy to talk with and very knowledgeable. Nice to have the option to sample before ordering on tap beverages. Relaxing and pleasant atmosphere, music was at a great level to be enjoyed without interfering with conversation. Definitely will visit again.

my sister had a 6 pm reservation for around 15-20 and they got there around 5:30 and waiting a full hour to be seated. several other big parties came in and was seated before them. when my mother and sister tried talking to the manager all he offered was free appetizers and seats when they became available. nothing else was done beside a half explanation. horrible accountability

Hamburger restaurant
If you're on the hunt for a delightful dining experience, look no further than Burger Theory Owensboro. Nestled along the picturesque Ohio River, this restaurant not only serves up mouthwatering burgers but also offers stunning waterfront views that enhance your meal. The menu is packed with options, making it a great spot to satisfy any craving. During my recent visit with friends, we sampled three different burgers and were impressed by their quality and flavor—definitely worth returning for!
While working on a film crew at the hotel, the entire Burger Theory staff went above and beyond to make our time as productive as possible. They were super friendly and accommodating with the use of their space throughout the shoot. Emily was the MVP. And special thanks to Katrina, Azalea, and Kaitlyn as well. On top of that, the food was great! I’ll definitely be back for the spicy chicken sandwich & fries!

I would call this restaurant a hidden gem. Excellent hospitality, great burgers and fries and nice views of the river. No complaints, we’ll definitely be back again!

1st visit. Asked for a Sriracha Sirloin (House special), excited to see it spicy 🔥, because Sriracha is spicy sauce, got it in about hour, in sweet, really sweet, not a spicy at all. 2nd visit year later. Asked for burger on pretzel bun, looks great, but bun was cold and in the middle I can feel freeze part, so it make me feel that they keep parts in freezer and simply microwave them when needed.
Andrew F — Google review
Great burger and fries! My only suggestion is better portion size on the fries I think I may have got 8 fries! It was a nice view of the river we sat on the patio. Service was fine.

I am in town for a work conference and was really excited to see the hotel had a restaurant and then I was even more excited when I saw that they had fried pickles. I'm having them and the BT Cobb salad for the second time. I had the burger last night and it was the perfect way to end a travel day. There are plenty of other dining options nearby but honestly I may just eat here everyday. The staff are friendly, the space is clean and inviting and the service is so fast! I would stay at this hotel again just for Burger Theory. UPDATE I did eat every meal at Burger Theory including a delicious breakfast before I left. I'm still thinking about those fried pickles.

My wife and I stayed at the hotel November 29th and had drinks and dinner at Burger Theory. We had burger and fries!!! Our bartender did a fantastic job of making sure our meal was perfect and it was. It was the first good meal in four days of travel. Can’t forget about the breakfast either, also fantastic. This Holiday Inn had it going on!! Everyone and everything was great!!!

Our last visit featured some bluegrass players in the lobby/restaurant area that we found enjoyable while eating. Affordable good burgers and fries.

Can't even tell you what the food tastes like. We waited 30 minutes and were never greeted. When we asked for a menu we were told " give me a second" and we waited another 10 minutes and still weren't greeted. Who has 1 server on a Saturday night?

Fast food restaurant
McDonald's, the iconic fast-food chain that has been a staple for burger and fry lovers around the globe, continues to impress with its commitment to quality service. During my recent visit, I noticed a trainee at the drive-thru who was exceptionally polite and attentive, ensuring my order was just right. The food arrived piping hot while my drinks were refreshingly ice-cold—definitely a win!
Unable to complete full survey due to phone issues. It's nice to get free refills in coffee, the problem is having to wait several minutes til a worker is available to get it for you. The coffee maker should be out next to the Coke machines for VA the customer to pour his own refills instead of having to wait several minutes for a worker. And the workers sometimes get the sugar/cream adds wrong.

Spent 30$ on two raw quarter sandwiches. I ordered a quarter cheese deluxe and double quarter cheese sandwich. They have me a quarter cheese with no sauces and raw meat and my husbands double quarter cheese was raw. The two happy meals were fine I guess but 20 minutes for food you can’t eat. These restraints have really gone down.

It's Mickey D's You get a McDouble and a McCafe coffee in you and I feel you will have a very Mciky Mcday that's all right I'm content with my review as the time and ser vice in the placement of the order to acquiring the meal is just satisfactory no more no less It is what it is and it's not what it's not to run on down to Ronald's house and I might just be there eating with you next

If i could give 0 stars, i would. i’ve been sitting in the drive thru for 40 minutes. 40 MINUTES. and it’s not even just me. there’s a handful of cars who have been here just as long waiting. workers were not apologetic whatsoever and there were workers in the back goofing off and dancing around. absolutely worst experience i have ever had.
Addi F — Google review
Worst McDonald's in town constantly gives u cold food. Messes up ur order. Etc. I had to go back thru the line. Cause they have the doors locked. Cause they didn't even give me all my food then. The manager tired to say she gave me my food had to argue with them and point out on my receipt I had ordered 3 big macs. She then tried to give me the rest my food and ofcourse my other food would be cold due to having to wait in line again. 😒 if u could give zero stars I would for sure!

⭐☆☆☆☆ I had a very frustrating experience at this McDonald’s. The cashier was extremely rude and interrupted me three different times while I was trying to order. I hadn’t even finished telling her what item I wanted before she cut me off again. Customer service should mean listening to the customer, not rushing or being disrespectful. Very disappointing.
Randy H — Google review
Tried to place a order, kept getting interrupted by the lady taking the order asking if we wanted medium or large I hadn't even told the lady what I wanted yet. After 3 times of trying to tell her what I wanted I just drove off. Should not have to argue to place an order.
