Pub
The Ugly Dog Public House in Highlands is a classic American pub with a cozy atmosphere and live music. It offers a unique twist on traditional bar food, including burgers and pub fare, as well as a Sunday brunch menu. The restaurant has two locations, each with its own distinct menu. Despite some minor imperfections in the food, such as slightly overcooked burgers, the overall dining experience is highly enjoyable.
This place was recommended to us by some friends that visit the Highlands regularly and I’m so glad we took their advice. It has a “come as you are, all are welcome” vibe. The service was attentive and the food was great. The menu is simple food with a little flare but not so much that you don’t know what you’re eating or what to order. I would highly recommend it and can’t wait to go back again.

The chicken was uncooked/had a weird texture. Had to return it. The quality of food was very basic. The salad was good. The server didn’t bring our drinks out and we had to take them ourselves.

Pizzas, sandwiches, salads, and burgers to choose from. I got a Salmon BLT with avocado and green fried tomato. Ordered a house salad which was generous in size. Hubby got the Cuban. We both got rings. All was very good. Fun, cozy atmosphere.

We were only in town for a few days, and the first experience with The Ugly Dog Public House was so good that we wanted to go back a second time. The staff was great, and the bartender was a hoot. She even helped us prank our friend with a " mini beer."The food was so good. Don't get me started on the dessert 🤤 I really liked the atmosphere, and as an animal lover, I love to support businesses that give back to the community that appreciate a dogs presence in a customer's life. I highly recommend trying this place.

Friendly and helpful staff and fun environment. Good food with large portions, try the whipped feta appetizer. We will be back on our next trip to Highlands.

Top 5 favorite restaurant in the U.S. Our new favorite NC dinner destination. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, dynamite cocktails, and a decent menu. We visited Memorial Day weekend and everything was perfect. The hostess was super friendly..we have three kids and although it's not a 'family restaurant' we felt very welcomed. We waited for 30 minutes on the patio in front an enjoyed a couple of cocktails. Try the Tuck...it was quite good. The menu is decent--it had something for everyone. The bar had a friendly vibe and the restaurant had 2-3 families in it. We were there on a music trivia night--not typically a family endeavor but both our server and the host went out of the way to make sure we all had fun. Which meant we also bough another round of drinks! Can't wait to return again!!

As a regular visitor to the Highlands, this is a favorite of my family and I's restaurants to eat at. They have a simple menu with great food. It is not overwhelming to read, and their appetizers are delicious. They have a very welcoming environment, and service is usually pretty good. Wait time varies depending on the time of day you go. Dinner is usually pretty busy, but it is worth the wait. Overall, a great restaurant to eat at when visiting Highlands.

Smashburger and salmon BLT were great. The sides were average; onion rings oil used had an off-greasy taste, coleslaw was ok.

American restaurant
Restaurant
Wild Thyme Gourmet is a restaurant in Highlands that offers an upscale dining experience with a blend of American and Asian flavors. The restaurant features a contemporary polished setting with a bar area, as well as a cozy outdoor patio with red umbrellas.
Our favorite restaurant in Highlands. We ate here our first night in town and liked it so much we came back for lunch the next day! If there was one place I would have had dinner at more than once on this trip, this would be it. I had the seared tuna for an appetizer and my wife had the fried green tomatoes. Both were outstanding. Entrees were quail and a double pork chop which were equally delicious. We split a desert of lemon layer cake with coffee. Nothing we had was less than perfect. The service was outstanding. This was one of the best trained staffs I have ever come across! The atmosphere is very nice. Classy yet not too formal. Very extensive wine collection! Lunch the next day was the Grilled Chicken and Artichoke Wrap and the Chevre Goat Cheese Sandwich, both of which were as good as our dinner the night before. If I am lucky enough to be back in the Highlands, this will be my first reservation.

The service was excellent. It was Valentine’s Day and I think they had more tables than normal maybe? We seemed a little crowded. It’s a small restaurant. We had a hard time having conversation at our table because we were so close and it was also loud. Other tables were probably better. You can hear the kitchen as well. This is just the atmosphere of the restaurant I guess. We were on the long banquet seat side. The puffed crab pastry was 5/5. The salad was 3.5/5. Our entrees were 4/5. Bread pudding 4/5. Overall a nice evening.
Amy C — Google review
We ate there twice during a visit to Highlands in May-2025. My entrees were amazing (Salmon-wasabi and pan fried trout). My salads were average (roasted beet and warm goat cheese). Service was outstanding. My wife liked her wedge salad and spring rolls. We ate outside (we were traveling with our dog), so I can’t speak to the inside atmosphere. It would have been nice if they had outdoor heaters.
Mike C — Google review
High end resturant, service was good. First time fist impressions a good resturant over all, prices on high side and we notice on the menu if sharing charge extra $4. Atmosphere very good & outside seating for pets if you have them. See if next time food & service will improve. Could of been what we ordered since was lunch. As much was over cooked and servers where very matter if fact when serving and taking order. But again first time dinning at this resturant. We just expected more from a high end resturant. Thank you, Travers

The lamb and chilean sea bass specials were amazing. The best lamb dish I have ever eaten. The baked brie was absolutely delicious and the apple crumble was to die for. Highly HIGHLY recommend. The service was fantastic and the ambiance was so great!

Excellent menu with daily specials. Very solid and consistent restaurant. Crab cakes ( no filler) got three. They were true to their word and had a wonderful taste. Shared for others to enjoy. Waterfall Asian dinner was also tasty. Filets were cooked to perfection and quality cuts. Guests enjoyed their halibut. The appetizers rate as follows… spring rolls good (4 small) lobster press were very tasty, fried green tomatoes ( not the best). Salads were good but small. Bread service is good. Good service.

Incredible meal with wonderful service and family friendly atmosphere! We had the Tuna, sautéed Trout, Spring rolls, Milk Cake! All perfection! Everyone was kind, professional and even found us down the sidewalk to give us our forgotten cell phone😂😊.

Southern restaurant (US)
Madison's Restaurant, located within the Old Edwards Inn, offers a unique dining experience with its seasonally influenced New American fine dining. The restaurant prides itself on using locally sourced ingredients from nearby farms and greenhouses to ensure freshness and quality in their dishes. With an elegant rustic setting overlooking the Wine Garden and waterfall, Madison's provides a cozy ambiance for guests to enjoy their meals.
Madison’s at Old Edwards Inn is a beautiful, elegant yet cozy dining spot - a perfect setting to conclude our birthday getaway in Highlands. Since we were staying at the historic inn, dining at Madison’s felt like a great extension of our experience. The staff was attentive and well trained - always present but never intrusive. The food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious, making for a memorable meal. Next time, we will aim to try one of the booth seats by the windows. We appreciate the team’s thoughtful birthday wishes, which added a personal touch to the evening. The only thing that could have made the experience even sweeter? A complimentary chocolate treat to end the night.

Planned a 40th birthday for a close friend. Just 6 of us. We were able to make reservations about 7 months in advance. Everything was wonderful. We were even able to order a cake from the restaurant. Highly recommend you eat here for your next special occasion. What a gem!

We stumbled upon Madison’s at the Old Edwards Inn based on a friend's recommendation for a late lunch. Although we were informed that lunch service ended at 2 PM, arriving at 2:10pm, we were pleasantly surprised when they seated us regarrdless with smiles on their faces. We started with two glasses of Riesling and their fabulous trout dip. The service was a perfect 10 out of 10, and the staff was incredibly lovely. For lunch, we ordered the liver and couldn’t resist trying the shrimp and grits, which turned out to be one of the best I’ve ever had. Later, we made our way to their Hummingbird Bar for cocktails and tasted their signature caramelized bread pudding, which was nothing short of fabulous. If you're in Highlands, there's no better place to stop for a drink, a bite to eat, or a divine meal. Also, such a beautiful place full of history!

This is a wonderful dinning experience. From our cordial creating upon entering and being seated. The decor, especially seating, is warm and inviting. Our waitress, Vimbai, was knowledgeable in making recommendations, attentive with taking and repeating orders as well making sure our drinks were replenished. When our meals were brought to us extra help served us all at (6) at the same time. Food quality was top notch, plentiful and reasonably priced. All in all this restaurant deserves the 5 stars given.

The Madison’s Restaurant is very busy on the weekend and the wine garden outside is first come, first serve and was 1.5 hr wait on a Saturday in July. We thankfully had inside reservation. Service was top notch by Teddy. My advice is to also pick up the free local magazines to learn what is going on.

Excellent facilities, huge high quality wine list, good service, help from sommelier Ana-Paula was very good. Venison tenderloin with gnocchi and fava beans was creative concept perfectly cooked. Risotto was very good. Will return.

Tucked away inside the Old Edwards Inn, Madison’s has unique charm for a nice dinner out. My husband and I recently went to celebrate my birthday. Our one knock came at the beginning with the bar so far away from the restaurant and a small space that felt more like a library. Once seated, we had a very nice waiter who was very attentive and helped us choose on a menu of items that all sounded wonderful. My husband got the stuffed pheasant and couldn’t stop raving at the flavor. That was u til he tried my steak. Perfectly cooked medium rare with a crisp outside. We also both enjoyed two different salads (one arugula and the other a Caesar). If you are looking for a nice dinner out in the area, very worth putting at the top of your list to consider.

Four65 Woodfire Bistro + Bar is a popular spot in downtown Highlands, known for its wood-fired pizzas, fresh salads, cast-iron sandwiches, and a selection of drinks including rose and blackberry margaritas. The restaurant offers a great atmosphere and the option to dine alfresco on the terrace when the weather is nice. Great pizza and meatball sub. A bit overpriced, but excellent quality. The salad was also great, but the chicken wasn't grilled as expected. The service was mediocre. Nice and polite, but not very attentive.

Wonderful!!! Delicious food , fantastic service and a beautiful welcoming restaurant. Great menu, everything we tried was sooooo good. Food for sharing for sure. Great pizza, cheese boards, huge salads to share. Our server, Markon was great attentive polite and gracious. Very inexpensively Priced for the Highlands area. Great food great service exactly with Highlands needed. Give it a try you won’t regret it.

We made a special trip to Highlands after missing out on this restaurant during our last stay at Old Edwards as it doesn’t take reservations. Luckily, we’re seated immediately. Service was friendly and prompt and the salad and pizza were good but not remarkable. However, our experience was let down by 2 factors: (1) an uncomfortably cold dining room where the blower was running at full force on an already cool night. Our server said they were not allowed to adjust the temperature but did persuade the manager to turn the aircon off for some minutes (2) a very loud next table where a couple and their grown son spoke loudly amongst themselves and with the server. It felt like we were in a Sports Bar. The dad apologized to us on their way out, indicating both they and the staff were aware they were being disrespectful to other diners. If they are regulars, the restaurant should seat them apart from others to preserve the dining atmosphere. Disappointing experience overall, especially for Highlands.

Really enjoyed this restaurant. We stopped in around 4 on a weekday in October. Perfect weather. We ordered the MeatLover Pizza and it was excellent. Also ordered the Caesar salad and it was outstanding. Great service, nice atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Delicious pizza, nice atmosphere and excellent service. Nice place to sit and have lunch in the middle of town. We had the pizza this visit but will be back to try other items. Everything looked wonderful.

This is a required meal when visiting the highlands. The best pizza with wood fired ovens. Excellent crust, choices of specialty pizzas. Most with arugula. Caesar salad was plentiful for two and delicious. Ask for extra fresh fresh Parmesan. It gets crowded but wait times are reasonable and worth it. I think their sandwiches looked good as well. I tried their root based vegetable soup and it was very good. Add some red pepper flakes to it. The service was excellent and pleasant.

Great spot for breakfast, a quick shopping trip, and an excellent selection of wine. Breakfast is a popular time with fresh baked goods, prepared meals, coffee bar, and Bloody Mary's available. Ample seating indoors and out. Friendly staff; the owner chatted with us about how he curates the wine selection and it sounds like there will be an expanded Oregon offering. My son said it was the best breakfast sandwich he's ever had ($6 breakfast sandwich on a biscuit). Very unassuming place from the outside but absolutely worth stopping in. We look forward to returning

Such a great spot to grab a quick meal. We love it the Friday night specials are the best!!! I meant to write this a couple of weeks ago. I just thought of it now because it’s Friday ….I was grabbing a pizza. It was busy on a Saturday. And the young man I think he works in the pizza area always I haven’t seen him that often. Anyway he was very helpful.. I got the pizza, but I had a couple of my friends children with me. He was so polite he grabbed some napkins and plates for me. Everyone in the store is always so helpful. Food is fresh and the prepared sandwiches and meals are always wonderful. I think the young man who helped me was Dana or Danny. I asked him his name, but it wasn’t really clear anyway if you know who it is, he’s a great employee.please thank him. I can’t Thank him enough for helping me that day.. I know it only took a minute or two but often people don’t go out of the way to help others, and I was struggling with those kids and the food. Thanks again mountain fresh you are always my go to spot, when I need something yummy and quick In Highlands.

This place has delicious chicken tenders and fried shrimp. What my family and I typically get each time. They also have plenty of other options that are good. There is always a line every time we go, and service is usually good and quick. Can call ahead and place a pick-up order, which is convenient to grab and go and take back to your place. Overall, great food, great service, and a good place to try.

Odd little grocery store/deli/pizza joint/coffee shop/pub in Highlands. Great stop for some quick snacks or lunch. The pizza is pretty good, nothing amazing but good. They have lots of meals prepared to go, like meatloaf, loaded potatoes, tubs of pimento cheese, sandwiches, and so on. We always stop by for a beer/wine when we drive by. It's definitely worth a visit just to say "yeah, we been there and it was....." or just to enjoy the experience of a cool little mountain "WholeFoods"

We had not been here in years and stopped in this week. Pizza was amazing. The food from the grill came cold which I’m not sure how that is possible. All staff were friendly except the young person at the cash register who took our order. Will obviously return and give it all a try because hoping this was just a one off.

I ordered a BLT to go. It came with a side (fries, chips or a side salad). They charged $15 for the sandwich PLUS $3.00 for the bacon. On a bacon lettuce tomato sandwich. When I got back to our lodgings the full (as in two halves) sandwich had one full slice of bacon on it, one half on each side. $18.00 seems a bit pricey for a sandwich with one piece of bacon on it. C’mon folks, you can do better.
Karen K — Google review
The grill menu looks interesting but the food was really disappointing. The burger was dry , over salted and without much taste. French fries were overcooked dry and over salted . The Turkey/ havarti/ cranberry sandwich was much less tasty than it sounds - more like a grilled turkey sandwich at seven- eleven than at a high end grocery/ grill. At $15-17 these were not cheap and they should overhaul their preparation and cooking

Highlands Inn is a charming 19th-century inn with quaint rooms, a rock garden, and a rooftop terrace. Kelseys Place, located within the inn, offers classic breakfast meals in a historic dining room that provides an authentic Highlands experience. The inn's dated charm adds to its appeal, offering reasonable pricing and a convenient location in Highlands. Guests can enjoy spacious and clean rooms, friendly staff, evening cookies and coffee by the beautiful fireplace, as well as complimentary breakfast.
This hotel and staff are amazing. Very old bones and tons of charm. The rate was reasonable, and they really made my night! I traveled up on a motorbike and was going to camp, but storms ruined my plans. I stopped in Highlands, and The Highlands Inn made me feel comfortable right at home. The front desk people are SO NICE. They got me a room with access to the balcony. I sat on the 2nd floor balcony and listened to the rain. In the morning, they made a delicious breakfast and wished me safe travels. Very cool spot. Def recommend!

What a great place. We came 1st week of June 2025. This hotel is right in the middle of downtown Highlands. Very nostalgic decor of the history of the plateau and Highlands NC. Sharon at the desk made us feel at home everytime we saw her. Rebecca made our breakfast to order and everything was amazing. She is so friendly and gave us tips of where to go, and what to see. Bed and pillows were magnificent, balcony was great for chilling. Shower had great heat and pressure. We planned on staying 1 night, ended up staying 3. A personal Thank you again to Sharon & Rebecca. Bill & Lisa (from Sarasota).

This place was exceptional! Breakfast every morning was wonderful. Our room was spacious and comfortable. But the dynamic that put the Highland Inn at the top of the chart were the people! Rebecca, the chef has uncompromised skills and a personality that brings a smile to your face. Michaela, day manager, is vivacious, personable and always goes the extra mile, whether you ask her to or not. Sharon and Karen, the other desk managers, with whom we had less interaction, are also personable, kind efficient and happy to help in any way. These are the qualities that we value when choosing a place to stay and the Highland Inn did not disappoint!

Highlands Pizza Place is a charming eatery located on Main Street, offering a variety of options beyond just pizza. In addition to their tempting personal pizzas and French Dip sandwich, they also serve sandwiches, salads, and fresh-brewed coffee for patrons to enjoy while watching the shoppers stroll by. Despite its unassuming appearance, this small hole-in-the-wall establishment surprises diners with its cozy dine-in space reminiscent of a shotgun house.
We were walking down main street and were drawn here by the amazing aroma of the fresh dough coming out of the pizza oven. And we were not disappointed. The dough is light and airy with incredible freshness and flavor. We ordered the Margherita pizza and Gorgonzola salad with grilled chicken. Both came out hot and didn't last long on our plate. Order at the counter, take a number, and have a seat. They will deliver the pie to you. The menu has an assortment of hot and cold sandwiches, pizzas made to order, and salads.

We ordered a Hawaiian 16in. pizza for $23. It tasted good. We were able to split it between two people and have a few slices left over as well. There was plenty seating to find. They also sell clothing items and hats.

Yummy food all the way around. Pizza was good, but not my exact style. A little heavy on the sauce. Generous on the toppings though. The veggie sub was really delicious. Nice atmosphere. Plenty of screens for watching sports. Service was on point. Order up front, then they bring it back to you.

Highlands Pizza Place is hands down our favorite pizza spot in town! The food is always consistent, and the customer service is friendly every time we stop in. They’re always on time with our order, which we really appreciate—especially when we’re grabbing takeout. Our go-to is the pepperoni pizza with pineapple and jalapeños—highly recommend it if you like a little sweet and spicy combo. And don’t sleep on the pizza sticks—they’re a must-try! Pair them with their ranch (our favorite in Highlands), and you’ll be hooked. It’s also a great spot for a family night or even a birthday party. The environment is casual, welcoming, and family-friendly. We’re so glad to have this place in Highlands!

The staff was friendly but the food was rough... the mozzarella sticks were somehow burned but also extremely bland.(im not sure how they burn like this from a fryer) Along with those, the dipping sauce was old and separating and sweet kinda like it was fermenting (Puddle of water in the ssuce in picture). The pizza was edible but extremely flakey it almost had a sandpaper like texture underneath and tasted like my toppings were frozen. The sausage overpowered everything and i couldnt taste any sauce (we got a 10" meatlovers) The price was fair for the location, but I do NOT recommend eating here. Tables were also very sticky and the soda machine was not working. We weren't told until after we paid for soda.

If you ordered a pizza you could eat pizza within 10 minutes! We ordered sandwiches & after waiting 30 minutes we had to ask had they 'forgotten our order?' They said no, it just took longer! If they had told us when we ordered it was going to take a long time we would have ordered pizza! We both are diabetics! Finally brought my husbands sandwich but mine wasn't ready for another 5 minutes! WE WILL NEVER, EVER EAT HERE AGAIN! Mexican restaurant
Highlands Burrito is a Tex-Mex restaurant that has been a staple in the Highlands community for over 20 years. It offers a local, down-to-earth vibe and is likened to a more casual Chipotle. The new owners have elevated the menu, particularly with their in-house smoked pork, which adds a delightful touch of clean smoke to the rich pork flavor. The dining experience aims to satisfy customers with freshly prepared, delicious food at fair prices.
We have eaten here the last two times we visited Highlands. The prices are fair and reasonable for the amount of food you get. And the food is truly delicious. It is freshly prepared with care and their goal is for you to be happy and have a satisfied dining experience. It was great the first time and even better the next time. I had chicken soft tacos along with retried beans and rice and cheese dip. Great salsa and sauces too. We will definitely be back.

Delicious and fresh craft your own burrito, bowl, salad or taco restaurant, with lost of options and additional menu items. Service is fast, friendly and the food was super tasty. Happy with the prices, as well!

We had an early lunch here on a Weds. It was not crowded and the server talked us through the order process. Very similar to a Chipotle, but with a wider variety of meats including blackened fish. The decor was very nice with a hiker hangout, outdoorsy feel. Three different salsas are in bottles on the tables as condiments. Chips are not free but a serving basket is plentiful. We had burritos. They were large and tasty. We love Highlands. 😍

Desperately trying to copy Chipotle. Portions are adequate but less than the Chipotle scoops. I heard this is owned by Edward's Inn Hospitality Group. Prices are high.1 bowl, 1 burrito, 1 margarita, 1 iced tea = $53.00...and they really wanted a tip!!! For putting the food together ??

These are some of the best tacos I have every had. Friendly service, fresh food, love this place!

Best Mexican in town. They have new owners and a new name in the past few years. Much is exactly the same. However, the pork is definitely better! They smoke the pork inhouse. It is a wonderful balance of rich pork and a light touch of clean smoke. Great with the brown hot sauce. Be sure to try the 3 house made hot sauces! The soup here is also very good! Guacamole, @last visit was a bit too salty for my taste but very good and balanced with some extra lime. Anytime I am in town we like to get in here for lunch. They have a full selection of beers, Mexican soda, and house made margaritas.

On my list for ALL TIME best margaritas anywhere! Great spot for casual lunch. We had the daily soup which was Baja chicken soup and the queso with chips! Awesome all the way around. A bonus was the great music, owners Playlist was unique upbeat and just a little out of the ordinary. Highly recommend! Opps forgot to take a picture before I was almost finished with my yummy margarita!

This place was so great. Quaint, fun, food and drinks are incredible. Since I went almost two years ago, they’ve had some staffing issues and have temporarily closed. So sad. I really hope this place comes back. It’s a great part of Highlands!

Seafood restaurant
Lakeside Restaurant is a charming and cozy cottage located on the shores of Lake Harris in Highlands, NC. The restaurant offers upscale American cuisine with a focus on seafood. The dining experience combines the warmth of a lakefront cottage with fine dining, allowing guests to enjoy both the comfort of the interior dining room and the scenic views outside. Lakeside is known for its emphasis on fresh local fish and Carolina seafood expertly prepared and served up.
Ashamed to say it took more than a dozen years of residency in Highlands for me to finally have a meal at this lovely establishment. It was worth the wait but also, don’t wait, because you’ll kick yourself. Our table shared several appetizers, all absolutely delicious and we enjoyed two of the menu offered entrees as well as one of the night’s specials. Seafood, beef and pork were all represented and all were cooked exceptionally with interesting but extremely complimentary sides. Each diner in my party also enjoyed a perfectly made cocktail as well as an excellent per glass pour from the well-appointed wine options. Desert was a shared crème brûlée that was nearly transcendent in its perfect flavor with the texture of gossamer. If gossamer was made of creamy velvet. Portion sizes were perfect and the staff was exemplary. I had the added bonus of dining with a friend of the owner, who made time to stop by our table twice to say hello and make sure we were pleased with everything. She even remembered one of my companion’s gluten allergy and was ready with a better appetizer option when we accidentally ordered a dish that would have been problematic. The host was friendly and at one point, called the entirety of the small dining rooms attention for a brief acknowledgment of all the special occasions being hosted that night (turned out nearly every table had a birthday girl at it - including ours!) The vibe was supremely comfortable and lively, but not too loud to prevent decent conversation amongst our table. I have been informed that dining on the patio (once warm weather returns) is an enchanting experience - one I will certainly not wait another dozen years to enjoy! Prices were comparable to all finer dining restaurants in the Highlands-Cashiers area though I believe Lakeside provides more value for the dollars spent than many others on the Plateau. It has been a long time since a dinner out has left me completely content with the experience but Lakeside hit all the right notes for food, drink, service, and atmosphere. The little restaurant on the shore of Highland’s Lake Harris knows what they’re doing, and are an excellent representation of the best of Highland’s culinary offerings. Seamless professionalism, remarkable culinary execution, unpretentious charm.

This restaurant would definitely be in my top three in the Highlands, Cashiers area. Your hostess is Kelly and she is amazing. She is funny and charming and makes you feel like you are part of the Lakeside family. She made sure we knew how long until our table was ready and offered to get us anything while we waited. The owner is Laura and she is involved in every aspect of the restaurant. She came over to our table when our appetizer was ready and found out it was our first time there. When we started to try the appetizers and the main course, we looked at each other and said the food was incredible. I told the owner that even employees seemed to enjoy the work schedule and it showed in their performance. It is a little off Main Street but certainly I can promise we will go back. The Halibut and the trout are two of the best fish dishes I have tried.

The day we were there was rainy so were were seated inside and it was very full and a little on the noisy side. Not too loud to have a conversation but the dining room is small and there were a number of larger tables which tends to make it louder. The do have a patio overlooking the lake and I'm sure if the weather had permitted we would have sat out there and my rating for atmosphere would have been 5 stars. We arrived early and had to wait a few minutes but I must say the hostess was a hoot and kept us all entertained. Once seated we had cocktails which were very good. Appetizers were Cornmeal Dusted Fried Oysters for me and the Lakeside Wedge Salad for my wife. Our entrees were the stuffed pork chop for me and my wife had the crab cakes. Everything was excellent including the service and the price was reasonable. I would highly recommend Lakeside for dinner but you probaly need to make a reservation well in advance.

Had a great dinner and summer’s end celebration with the family. The dining room was lively and the outdoor space provides a beautiful additional al fresco dining alternative. Food exceeded expectations and service was attentive. Stuffed trout was delectable. Cordon Bleu was flavorful and comforting. Lobster pasta was generous in portion and delicious. Encrusted halibut was cooked perfectly, sauce and risotto were tasty.

We celebrated a significant birthday this evening - 4 of us. All dishes- trout, chicken and seafood plus the bread pudding was exceptional. I am a huge Brussels sprouts fan and this often ordinary balsamic recipe was very tasty, not oily and perfectly prepared - flash fried. My husband loved the wine selection, too. The only comment I have is an offering of vegetarian options that were not cheesy. Please do not misunderstand, what is offered is stunning yet alot of dairy. Because we really enjoyed the service; the host and wait staff, we think their incredible service would be even more appreciated if there was a way to control the noise in this lovely establishment. Anyone who knows restaurants is aware that if one table is loud, the rest of the tables get louder to enjoy a conversation . It is human nature - it would seem that the room could use some noise canceling features.... definitely worth the exploration! Go and have a great meal....

We took a chance for our 25th anniversary and could not have been happier. The staff were welcoming and attentive. The inside of the dining room was quirky and nice. Each table was slightly different and a great size to hold the plates that were served( so frustrating when places put alot of tiny tables that can’t possibly hold all plates). The views of the lake were beautiful and there was outdoor seating. We each had an appetizer. I had the goat cheese with tomato chutney and my husband had an appetizer special of scallops in a corn sauce. Both had a unique plating and the flavors were spot on. The entrees were delicious. He had parrot fish with risotto which was also a special. I had the chicken cordon blue schnitzel over mashed potatoes and asparagus. This was seriously some of the best food we have had all year. We have two days of our vacation left and are thinking of eating here again. Sorry I didn’t take any photos. Within 40 minutes of opening every table was full-a good sign if you don’t believe me!!

The best restuarant in the Highlands. I’ll try to reserve every trip. We were able to grab a cancellation this weekend. The vibe is quaint and lively. Decor with local quirky artwork. The menu and specials are varied and special. The crusted oyster appetizer was great. They wait until order to dust for fryer. Coupled with sun-dried tomatoes and bacon. Free bread service. I ordered fresh black cod and chose my sides…creamed spinach was excellent along with crispy Yukon potatoes with Parmesan Blueberry bread pudding was some of the best and are large enough to share with four. My friends loved their halibut. My iced tea was perfect and the ladies enjoyed their blueberry martinis. Peter was pleasant and professional in serving us. The lady that greeted us was engaging and fun. Highly recommend it. The menu was unique and varied.

Absolutely the best. Kelly is phenomenal. She is so kind and genuine. Always recognizes our puppy. Maddy. The food is outstanding. Don’t miss the lamb chops ( the best I’ve had ever!!). And the halibut is out of this world.
