Family restaurant
The O.S.T. Restaurant, short for Old Spanish Trail, is a historic and unassuming American eatery located in Bandera County, Texas. It is renowned for its family-style meals and Tex-Mex dishes such as Beef Enchiladas Rancheros and Fajita Enchiladas. The restaurant opens daily at 7:00 AM, offering lunch specials from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
The ambiance of this establishment was truly exceptional, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Despite visiting on a busy day, the wait time was only about 10 minutes, which was quite impressive. The staff was not only attentive and friendly but also carried themselves with a delightful charm. As for the food, it was absolutely outstanding—flavorful, well-prepared, and served in generous portions. This was a fantastic dining experience, and I will certainly return the next time I'm in the area.

Ordered at the restaurant, and they deluded next door to the Ice Hause. E ordered the fish combo and tornado fries. Neither were remarkable. The fish was slightly undercooked. Seasoning was too soft for my palette. The service and friendliness of the staff was a step in the right direction. I will say the restaurant was full of patrons, so at least the locals find the meals to their liking. The iceHause next door was intimate. Great setting for a date. We watched Mister Bob Stewart perform live and enjoyed every minute.

We stopped in here and thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. The food tasted amazing, the service was incredible and the atmosphere that small town feeling which is getting harder to find these days. Sadly we didn’t make it back in time for some pie on this trip.

This place was AMAZING! I had the chicken fried steak, beef veggie soup, baked potato, and a biscuit. My mother had the patties melt with onion rings, and I finished it off my meal with blueberry buttermilk pie. CFS was a 10/10! Best I've ever had! Super crunchy crust and even though I order a small i have half of everything to take home for lunch tomorrow. Pattie melt was fabulous with just thr perfect amount of grilled onions on a toasted Rye bread! Onion rings were to die for! Crunchy and flavorful! Not over cooked and not burnt. They were perfect. I'd definitely recommend this place. Soup was not salty as I expected it to be. You can tell it was homemade and the pie is downright mouthwatering. Ive never had blueberry buttermilk pie but I love blueberries and I love buttermilk. So, this pie is a perfect combo for me. Excellent job OST!

Starting off OTS is in the cute sweet town of Bandera, TX right off of main street. Where there was all kinds of shopping to be had. The staff was kind, attentive and very respectful. You know that you hit a gold mine when even on a Sunday morning the place is hopping. Now the food. Oh the food! The menu options seem endless. So it was very hard for me to choose. In the end I ordered the Ranch house hamburger steak with grilled veggies, mashed potatoes, and texas toast. My mouth is watering as I am typing this out. I had a bite of my husband's chicken fried steak and wow 👌 I had to ask for another. Let's just say that I chose right. I have nothing bad at all to say about O.T.S. It's a must try in my book.
Toni T — Google review
This place is great! Its an old western type place and it is awesome! I usually get the bunkhouse breakfast which I would highly recommend and it was great! You get eggs, ham, and a pancake, and hashbrowns and is super good! The service is great and if your traveling for sure stop by and try it! Really good and service is great! They also have pretty good hot chocolate if I'm not mistaken! 5 stars.

Ice cream shop
Dairy Queen, a popular fast-food chain, offers a variety of delectable treats like soft-serve ice cream and specialty shakes. Their menu also includes classic burgers and fries. Customers can enjoy their famous Blizzard desserts alongside the savory side dish. The friendly staff ensures a pleasant dining experience for everyone. Although it is noteworthy that some Dairy Queens charge for puppy cups while others do not, customers are generally satisfied with their ice cream purchases.
We had a very good experience at this Dairy Queen. Everything was cooked really well and the portions were nice. Every employee we encountered was helpful and friendly. The dining area was nice and clean. I forgot to take a picture before I ate half of my food but it was delicious. Thank you!

Well , my visit was absolutely great in every way , I ordered the steak finger combo and a double cheese ala carte. The speed was phenomenal and everyone was friendly and courteous. They even brought my tray of food to me which was a nice change of pace. Let me tell you though , this place is doing right !!! The steak fingers were super hot , and the burger had melted cheese coming out the sides with fresh firm veggies , gravy was better than I remember but don't sleep on your local DQ , this was fire !!!! P.s. I came yesterday and got their Reese caramel blizzard of the month , that thing is a must try , I put in category top tier 🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. Keep up the great work to everyone here at our local DQ ❤️❤️❤️🤌🤌🤌🤌.

Management really needs to consider hiring more staff. I waited over 10 minutes just to place an order, and several people ahead of me actually left the line because it was taking so long. For a fast food place, this kind of wait time is unacceptable. It’s not the employees’ fault they were clearly doing their best, but they’re obviously understaffed. It’s frustrating as a customer, and probably even more so for the workers.
Pamela P — Google review
I stopped and ordered a dinner at the drive through. It wasn't too busy tonight, but normaly they are very busy. The food is so good, have never had a problem with anything l ordered from there. And they always have pretty good workers at the window.

New team is doing a great job. Such an improvement ! Food was well prepared, facilities were clean, and staff were polite and prompt. Drive thru can get lengthy but inside is usually quick.

Thank the DQ Gods! They brought it back. The cherry dip is BACK, baby. I rolled up to Dairy Queen like a damn bloodhound on the trail of nostalgia, and when I saw that red plastic heaven shell was on the menu again, I nearly drove through the building in excitement. You don’t understand. This isn’t just ice cream. This is childhood. This is red velvet armor for vanilla dreams. I ordered a cone so fast the cashier flinched. She handed it over like it was sacred, and I held that thing like Rafiki presenting Simba. I took one bite and transcended. My taxes were done. My skin cleared. I remembered my email passwords. That crunchy, glossy cherry shell shattered like glass, and underneath? Creamy cold joy. I swear I made eye contact with God. If they ever take it off the menu again, I will chain myself to the DQ freezer and declare a hunger strike. Long live the cherry dip. Amen.
Tb — Google review
Waited 45 mins in line, no greeting or warning about the wait, was card or exact change only and they had no cheese. We sat at the window and they couldn’t even manage to open it and say “Hey y’all, just a few moments” Or maybe “Here’s your drinks” (-_-)

Bandera City Park, located in the heart of Bandera, offers a serene and tranquil atmosphere with lush green spaces, private picnic areas, pavilions, and BBQ pits. Visitors can enjoy activities such as fishing and river swimming while also taking advantage of amenities like a skate park and playgrounds for kids. The park is well-maintained with plenty of parking and even offers horseback riding opportunities in the surrounding area. Additionally, visitors can witness rodeo events hosted periodically throughout the year.
Pavilions and playgrounds are found along the river. Picnic tables and plenty of parking everywhere. We parked near the skatepark and got lots of exercise.

A nice walk beside the river, very relaxing surrounds a good place to unwind. The most surprising feature is the Cypress that lines the banks of the river. Who knew Cypress would exist this far north!

Water was great! Cold and warm pockets of water. Very clean and well kept park.
Alicia S — Google review
A very simple park with 3 or 4 playground area's for the kids with benches to sit and watch them in the beautiful outdoors. Always clean and never crowded and easy access too launch your canoe or swim in the river. Also a nice fishing spot. Open to the public,no fee except when there is a scheduled function. Besides the fish, there are ducks, geese, squirrels and lots of deer. Enjoy
John G — Google review
Took tons of pictures at the Western festival ( not sure what they called it). Lots of fun.
Mama A — Google review
Beautiful park, well maintained, and clean. There is a river with a small dam waterfall. There are plenty of picnic areas with grills & trash cans that are not full. There are several small playgrounds for kids and ducks to feed. There is plenty of parking. I came here to relax for a while & I made the right choice. It is dog friendly with bag stations posted throughout. If I could change anything it would be for them to have a full bathroom with hand washing stations. However, they do have clean porta-potties scattered throughout the park.
Ari — Google review
Beautiful park! Play ground, picnic tables, charcoal grills, outlets around, & the bathroom was super clean. Lots of ducks and geese around, kind of seems like they were dropped off at some point but fun to watch. Horses are allowed as well.
Cass M — Google review
This is such a beautiful park! They’ve got bags to to pick up after your dogs and almost all the picnic tables are nestled in between huge trees providing lots of shade. We fed the ducks and enjoyed the view. I highly recommend taking a visit. It was very clean and looked after.

Bar
The 11th Street Cowboy Bar is a renowned establishment offering an authentic country experience. With a cooled dance floor and patio, it's the perfect spot to enjoy live Country-Western and Western Swing music while sipping on cold beer. The bar has hosted performances by notable artists and also sells a variety of branded merchandise. Situated in a historic building, the interior features unique decor including bras hanging from the ceiling left by previous patrons.
I recently rode here with some brothers for a sit down with some other people, and I have to say that this place was cool. Bartenders and waitresses were great. We played some pool, listened to some good music, and had a good time. We were all pleased with the service and atmosphere here.
Jeremy J — Google review
We went to the small bar during the day connected to this venue. We did not have food. It was a quaint little place! The bartender was excellent and friendly! It is a great day drinking bar!
Elizabeth R — Google review
This is an amazing place, bring your own steak, there’s a market at the end of Main Street. Bring a knife to cut into your steak as you’re grilling to check doneness. You pay for sides as you enter… salad baked potato with trimmings and a roll. I would recommend learning the two step an easy dance to go out on the dance floor with confidence and talk with the people around you, make some friends, it will definitely make for an awesome night!

We just went to the little bar in front during the day and it was great. Nice selection of tequila so I had couple ranch waters.
D R — Google review
A very fun spot for country music lovers! They bring in great bands, have a great stage and dance floor, an outdoor environment that’s very comfortable (especially after the sun sets) and attracts a fun mature crowd of cowboys and cowgirls. We walked from the hotel, or you could ride your horse in. We were there on a Wednesday night when you can bring your own steaks (or whatever) and cook them up over a hardwood fire. For a small cover charge you’ll get a perfectly baked potato and a simple salad on a paper plate and plastic utensils (a pocket or buck knife comes in handy) and you can cook and eat whenever you like. Folks brought coolers of their favorite foods and picnicked with big smiles. Most crowded around the fire when it was very hot for a nice char, or wait until the fire settles and cook yours more slowly. Drinks are reasonably priced and quick at the bar - no table service. I don’t know about other nights of the week, can’t imagine it’s much more than country simple, but Wednesday is BYO food - this place isn’t about the food. There was scant staff and they worked hard, the band was GREAT and the guests very happy. I’d do it again in a heartbeat!

Fast food restaurant
Sonic Drive-In is a nostalgic fast-food destination that brings back the charm of classic drive-in service. With its retro vibe, it offers a delightful menu featuring burgers and fries, along with breakfast options like burritos and refreshing iced coffee. A recent visit to the Bandera, TX location highlighted their tasty breakfast offerings, which some say surpass those of other chains. The friendly service adds to the overall experience, making Sonic Drive-In a spot worth revisiting for both meals and memories!
So today I had sonic for breakfast. I went to the bandera tx location. I had a breakfast burrito and a vanilla iced coffee. The breakfast at sonic is better than burger King. You can can a iced coffee but in a bigger size. The service at sonic at the bandera tx location is good. I will definitely be returning
Lillian V — Google review
Went in the parking spot to order at 1:30 pm. Pressed the button and waited. I waited for a good 20 minutes and decided to go through drive thru. I had 2 kids in the back and all I ordered was a large fry 2 choc shakes and 5 pc pizza bite. From the time I ordered which was about 2 pm I didn’t leave the drive thru until 2:20. Now here is the strange thing. I look at my receipt and it says I was charged at 2:06. So I don’t know if that’s when my order happened or if they are printing it out so it seems like they are going faster than they really are. As in they are purposely setting the clock wrong so it looks like it took them a few minutes rather than 20 minutes. The only reason why I’m giving it 2 stars is because our server Sheila was nice, she dropped a straw and gave us a new one and I commend her for that because I’ve been to places that just pick it up because “it was wrapped”. For the small order I had I should have had it as soon as I pulled up. The car hop wasn’t that busy as everyone was going drive thru (probably because a handful of car hop buttons actually work). It needs help. Either they are just really slow at what they do or there is no motivation to hurry up. It’s fast food and being there nearly an hour just for those things is not fast. I really hope they find out the issue of why they are slow. It could be under staffed but if it is then why not put up signs they are hiring. It’s summer and high school kids could be looking for jobs right now .
B G — Google review
Every single time I've come to this sonic it's taken FOREVER for them to bring food or drinks. Most of the time all I get is a drink/shake and it takes them way too long, it's ridiculous. Who's managing this place? It's not even that busy and I'm still waiting for my drinks. I got here by 6:30 pm and it's currently 6:57 pm. There is no need for it to take this long. Either get these workers to speed up and improve or close this place down. Extremely disappointing, this is supposed to be a FAST FOOD place.
Theresa W — Google review
Every single time, without fail, my food is absolutely cold. Doesn’t matter if I get a burger, fries, corn dog, or literally anything that should come out hot, its cold to the touch. It’s a gamble on if you’ll get food poisoning or not. Even if there are no cars in front of me waiting on an order, it takes them forever to take an order. Then you’re waiting on your food minimum 15 minutes, even if you only ordered a fry. No explanation as to why they take so long. I hope yall get cited for the things yall get away with👀
Spicy M — Google review
Either this store needs to offer more money to It’s employees or it needs to be shut down. The amount of times it’s taken over 45 minutes to get help is beyond ridiculous. They lost TONS of money tonight just due to the lack of available workers and the fact they are so busy they cannot take more orders! The whole building is falling apart and they have taken the majority of the stalls away! So now it’s either sit in a horrendous long drive through line while blocking others in or noble order and still wait an hour for a few drinks and fries. We have very little options in this town and I’m so disappointed that it’s this horrible. Fix something or leave so we can get a fast food joint that doesn’t take longer than a sit down restaurant to feed us.
Kennzie N — Google review
I'm guessing the girl in a red shirt was the manager on duty when my food was brought out the tater-tots and fries were cold I asked them to please remake them all she did was dio them into the frying and brought them back and still cold and gross. And I feel sorry for the poor girl that had to bring me out cold food directed by her manager.

So appareny Sonic in Bandera doesn’t want anyone to buy drinks there. They just charged me over four dollars for a large coke! Yesterday morning I bought one at the Sonic in Canton Texas for a dollar. I can go anywhere And buy a drink for way less than 4 dollars. Amd I will

Steak house
Trail Boss Steak and Grill is a popular steakhouse in Bandera with a cowboy-style atmosphere. Visitors rave about the delicious food, including perfectly cooked steaks, succulent green beans, and phenomenal bacon-wrapped shrimp. The restaurant also offers outdoor seating, delivery, and takeout options. Guests appreciate the attentive service and strong drinks but note some inconsistencies in food temperatures. Overall, it's recommended as a must-visit dining spot for lunch or dinner with incredibly good desserts to top off the experience.
My daughter and I was on the area for my birthday weekend and was looking for a good steak. It was somewhat busy and yet didn't feel crowded. The atmosphere was great. We were welcomed upon entering. Paige was our waitress and was phenomenal. Our steaks were cooked exactly as ordered. We definitely recommend and would come back if on the area again. I would give 10 stars if I could.

I ordered pork schnitzel last time I was here 2 weeks ago. I ordered the same thing and the portion wasn't even half the size of last time. The pic you're seeing has no bites taken out of it. I used to come here each Sunday after shooting at the range in Bandera. No longer will I dine here if you're going to charge me $16.99 for a skimped plate. Also the servers just sit in the kitchen staring at the cooks and doing whatever. Most the time i have to flag down a server that's not even mine to get noticed. I'm hot n thirsty when I come from the range, if I have to beg for a refill you're simply not doing your job. I was a server for years, focus on your tables and maybe you'll get more than a flat 20% tip.

The food was absolutely amazing. I had beef tips, and my wife had chicken fried steak. They were both very delicious, and the fried mushrooms were good. The atmosphere was very relaxing and the drinks were good. Highly recommend this place

The tomahawk steak is good, but wish the ribeye is a thick cut rather than thin. It's so easily overcooked and actually has to send it back. Expect better quality for the price.

This was a magnificent sandwich! It was highly recommended from an acquaintance of mine who apparently frequents this place. I got the prime rib sandwich with a creamy horseradish sauce on it and a cup of au jus, with a side of onion rings. The sandwich was super delicious, and the messier the better! The onion rings were a little underdone for my liking, but that’s just me as I like them super crispy. It’ll be that one thing I remember to mention the next time I definitely go back!

Can't say enough good things about this place! We stayed over night in Kerrville and the hotel recommended this place. OMG..they were so right. That was the best filet mignon I have had in a long time! It was cooked exactly as I ordered (medium rare), which most restaurants don't know how to cook! Would love to know the seasoning they put on the steak! Pricing was very reasonable and the portions are perfect. If you go through, be sure and check them out, trust me you will not be disappointed!

Amazing that this wonderful place is in the quaint town of Bandera. Wish I lived closer. The food service and atmosphere were perfect. Praline cheesecake is to die for. Seasonal salad and okra were delicious. I already want to go back!

I understand being busy. I also understand being professional. Check in… 30 minute wait on a table. Turned into over an hour. Other than other patrons occupying the tables 30-45 minutes after completing their meal, no hospitality follow-up. Had to ask. Finally, would you mind dining at a patio table. We agreed. Waitress did a great job, although management blamed her inexperience. Yet didn’t know which waitress was serving us. Night fall, no lights on patio. No urgency or concern for accommodating. Meal was great and the Waitress did her duty as best as the management will support. Very unprofessional on the management. No more than a shoulder shrug of complimentary.

HOLD .... THE .... PHONE!!!!! This place is too good to be true !!! I came in and could smell what I know to be that beautiful flavorful white smoke that makes this meat magic! Greeted by Tyler the king of smoke and his gang of immortals. I ordered the Big Daddy , chicken plate with jalapeno creamed corn and Mac and cheese. To my surprise , I got to try a sample of everything as you can see in the pictures. I was throwing my head back and closing my eyes upon the first majestic bite with meat from the perfect charred flavor of the Texas toast, buttery , complimenting the succulent and juicy smoke filled meat with perfect color and consistency in the big daddy !!!! My mouth watered as I was eating 😳. I conversated and was taking my time so the chicken had time to cool and even cool as you can see it was dripping juice tender , silde off the bone with no coaxing at all !!! The Mac and cheese was perfect in every way not too cheesy not too soft or firm just on point !!! The jalapeno creamed corn ..... Muh lawd the creamed corn , was by far the best I've ever had , it even beats my own ! The cream was the nectar straight from the heavens . I would put this creamed corn up against any other person's. Not one single thing was short of stupendous and down right amazing. Your kids wouldn't heaitate to debmvour these green beans and the birracho beans.... well , not to be dramatic but I would die for these beans !!!!! I would almost even say it was orgasmic. I will be back to do the whole menu but for the love of God, please do yourself a favor and come check these guys out , it's not just nourishing, it's not just quality taste , it is a whole soul moving experience!!!!!! When you desire food that brings feelings and happiness .... Well you found it here !!!! Take a bow you beautiful kings , because the service was top tier as well , I left feeling like a new member of the family and that's worth more than money!!! Until my travels bring me back don't change a thing Big Daddy's, you are absolutely incredible !!!!!!

The best brisket and pork ribs I've had in my life. We're on a Texas tour and I've eaten barbecue every day for the last 2 weeks and the brisket was by far the best I've had. The stuff of dreams. Reasonably priced too. Thanks!

Fast food restaurant
Burger King is a popular fast-food chain that offers a variety of grilled burgers, fries, and shakes. Customers have praised the restaurant for its exceptional service and accommodating staff who go out of their way to fulfill special requests. While some menu items may not live up to the advertised hype, such as the Big King burger being smaller than expected, many still find the food tasty and satisfying. Overall, Burger King remains a favorite destination for those craving classic fast-food fare with a friendly atmosphere.
I recently stopped by this Burger King with my younger brother, and while the overall experience was what you’d expect from a fast food place, one employee, i believe his name is hayden, truly made it memorable. He went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. He was incredibly friendly, spoke to us with genuine kindness, and even took a moment to chat with my brother and make him laugh, something that meant a lot to both of us. It’s rare to come across someone who brings such positive energy to their job, but this young man clearly cared about making customers feel appreciated. Thanks to him, what could’ve been just a quick bite turned into a really great experience. Big shoutout to that amazing employee, Burger King is lucky to have you!

Wanted something quick and hot; I don't normally eat fast food. I got neither Quick nor Hot. Included pic of the receipt for 2 reasons: 1. Time of order was 1:36pm. Food received at 1:49pm (it was probably sitting there getting cold while I waited); 2. To show the size of a regular burger - 3" in diameter. Note the other picture - what comes to mind is, "Where's the beef?" Next time, I'd choose Church's chicken because the wait time for food is because they're making it fresh and it's piping hot when you get it. This BK?!? Singing their jingle: BK... Be there all day... And it's cold! Never again for me!

Cold fries, missing tacos and then I get home to realize I'm missing part of the tacos and missing the bacon on my burger. Please pay attention and do not leave without checking your order all the way through.
Jayye G — Google review
Last week we placed an order, and it was actually perfect and SO good! We even called them to tell them how amazing the food and service was! HOWEVER today, I ordered and icecream shake and they gave me the wrong one... they guy said he'd fix it, but then came back and said "sorry the icecream machine is broken." I've worked in fast food. It's not broken. Ya just lazy. I want what I want. I want what I ordered. I'm fully aware this is not that big of a deal, but as a fellow service worker, I don't like being lied to.
Cammei M — Google review
Coldest burger of my life. Burger King is becoming worse by the day. I will no longer be using you guy's services. I am not a inconvenience I am a paying customer. My food should be hot at least. No pride here.

I have Alpha-gal Syndrome so I order the Impossible Whopper cause it is plant based and not red meat. I ordered the Impossible Whopper the other day & when I got home, I ate a 1/3rd of it and noticed it was off. I threw the rest away and started feeling ill. They gave me a regular Whopper triggering my Alpha-gal Syndrome and now sick in bed after I reached out to my doctor. I have lost trust in this location.
Teresa T — Google review
I was the small order to follow a large family to go who didn’t know exactly what they wanted but the guy at the register helped combined some of their order and saved them some money but it set me up quite a long wait for them to order and wait for their order and then came my little order. Stuff happens I guess. The place is really clean however.
David G — Google review
Gonna have to give this one a huge thumbs down. If you are short on employees why open at all?! We stopped in the middle of the day, there were customers eating inside, but the doors were all locked. No sign displaying normal business hours to begin with, and certainly no sign saying "Hey we can't get people to work here so we are closed". Doesn't seem like sound business practices. Not the employees fault, I'm sure they were doing the best they can. But goodness, BK owner and/or mgmnt, at least close early, open later, OR put signs up letting your customers know what to expect. Couldn't review food, would like to have gotten the chance, though. :)

Pap's Italian Grill is a family-friendly Italian restaurant that offers delicious pizzas, sandwiches, and appetizers. The restaurant has a cozy Italian ambiance with soft background music. Guests can bring their own alcohol as it is not served on the premises. The menu includes tasty options like fried calamari, garlic knots, and stuffed mushrooms with flavorful sauces for dipping. While some patrons have noted minor issues with specific dishes or service charges, many others have praised the food quality and generous portions.
Paps is an amazing place, and the food is out of this world!! Pap Jr. offered us a complimentary bottle of Merlot, and it really brought it all together. I'm so happy we found this gem. Even the take out pizza is seriously delicious, I love this place and order from here any chance I get

This is a wonderful gem of a restaurant if you’re looking for great Italian food! I have a food allergy (corn- which is in everything,) but I am able to eat everything they make. Home cooking at its best. My husband and I ordered us each a glass of wine - both different. The owner came over with a recommendation for us and a tasting. We quickly changed our selection and now have a new favorite restaurant and wine! If you are looking for great food, great atmosphere, and attentive staff take a drive out to Hondo - you won’t be disappointed.

I was the first in at 11 am , got seated right away in the ambiance of piano music just relaxing my soul. I got a custom Cesar salad add charred gyro ( which was beyond words ) . The house made Cesar dressing was real , not over powering anchovies or any other ingredient. They came together like a symphony to orchestrate the perfect salad. I do believe this was the best Cesar salad I've had in my 36 years !!!! Then I got the sampler with meat sauce , and upon that tantilizing first bite I immediately felt like family with a sauce that had to have been slow simmered for hours to get that authentic zesty taste that only family could make 🤌🤌🤌🤌. No lie , I was full but the food was so heart warming full of flavor , that I had to get the Baklava , which had those true flaky layers . This place was my ratatouille the magic was in every bite !!!! When you need to feel like family and pamper your self , come to Pap's !!!! Just for the charred gyro alone il be back !!!!

We had a great experience at Paps Italian Grill! The food was very good—fresh, flavorful, and comforting, just like you’d hope for from an Italian spot. The owner was incredibly nice and welcoming, which made the whole visit even more enjoyable. Definitely a place we’d come back to!

My immediate family is large and we always have cousins and friends and babies joining us. Mealtime at home is special so in the midst of the busy soccer season it has been difficult to not have that “Sunday lunch” element at home. Pap’s offered us just that, with delicious home cooked fresh foods, grace and space to accommodate my crew (of 14 that day). It was the kind of food that quieted everyone a little as they enjoyed the flavors. In such a busy season, with every Sunday spent away from home, it was such a gift to look up and see “there it is”. the magic of the family dinner time. Thanks to Paps for caring about what you do, it blessed my household that day and I’m sure based on your reviews, many others.

All of the ingredients are very fresh. Not just, fresh in the morning, but they rotate the ingredients that begin to oxidize (e.i. salad ingredients: lettuce, tomato, onion). The food is consistently great. The sauce is made from scratch, all the pizza dough & bread knots are made in house. The lunch specials...one of THE best in town.
Shannon — Google review
Love this place! ❤️ Lunch specials are always good and decently priced. They are always welcoming and attentive as if you are their only customer, even when it’s crowded. My new favorite dish is the Chicken Adriatic. So flavorful, and the chicken is so tender. If you even think you like artichokes, you will love this dish. Just remember to save room for dessert!

Excellent food! The steak was one of the best I have had in a long time. They even managed to make the steamed broccoli extremely tasty, a feat in itself. The macaroni was a little too buttery tasting, but I still ate every bit of it!

Absolutely loved our experience at Old Forge Restaurant in Bandera! I have got to say. This place was wonderful for myself and my family! Stephanie our server was very attentive and made sure we had everything we need. As for the food greatly portioned. My son got the chicken strips and there was plenty left over. The chicken fried chicken was so tender and juicy, and the breading wasn’t thick and hard it was light and crunchy. It really hit the spot! My boys were happy! To the cooks keep doing what your doing! Servers keep up the beautiful smiles and service. The owners great job we will definitely be back. Thanks also for having the Cowboys game on!! Quick note the alcohol beverages were good and greatly priced. Blueberry pina colada’s yummy and a first for me.

It had been a couple of years since our last visit, and with a local volleyball game nearby, we decided to stop back in, and we’re so glad we did! The food was excellent, and the atmosphere was exactly as we remembered: warm, comfortable, and inviting. Our server, Jackson, truly stood out. He was patient, knowledgeable about the menu, and attentive without ever being overbearing. His timing was perfect, his demeanor welcoming, and the small touch of calling out a “thank you and goodnight” as we left made the experience feel extra personal. Highly recommend this restaurant.. it continues to be one of our favorites!

"The Hen's Nest" is a popular breakfast and brunch spot located in Bandera, Texas. Visitors rave about the fresh, homemade dishes made from local farm ingredients. The friendly and welcoming atmosphere adds to the experience, with live music creating a relaxing ambiance. Guests appreciate the attentive service and delicious food, including specialties like creole cheese grits and duck eggs.
My wife and I were in town looking to get a bite to eat and found this place as we were driving by. It's a very comfortable relaxed atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and informative. The food, oh my goodness gracious it was great. I mean it was amazing!! I ended up with a double yolk egg . That's never happened before. We're definitely hitting it up again for sure. The prices are average, so you won't be breaking the bank if y'all decide to check it out. One thing I found odd and peculiar is they have a box in the middle of the table. A red and white checkered box, Which I thought was a napkin dispenser. Well I was wrong big time. They are actually for tips! Can you imagine how embarrassed I was trying to get a napkin out to find out there for tips 😂 I immediately waved the waiter down and told her I was very sorry I had no idea. That's a funny memory we will cherish. Can't wait to go again!!!

Country style deco and most items are fresh ingredients. Service is friendly and everything is very basic. Yellow sticky pad to take orders and payment thru the gift shop next door. Food came out like homemade and duck egg is an option for eggs.

The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with charming decor and a calm, relaxed vibe. The staff is incredibly kind and attentive—you can tell this place is a local favorite, and it totally deserves to be. We’ve had breakfast all over Texas, but The Hen’s Nest is easily one of the best. If you’re in Bandera, don’t miss this gem—it’s the kind of place that makes you want to come back again and again.

Hands down best breakfast spot in town. Fresh, homemade from scratch and local farm ingredients is impossible to beat when you have a creative top notch cook, knowledgeable wait staff, and down to earth prices. David took care of us along with a new kid whose name I neglected to get but he is a quick study and provided a good helping hand. I tried the creole cheese grits, fully loaded and it was amazing! Also had to try a waffle which was homemade buttermilk old school style made me think I was back at my mommas. This place is the real deal, only shortcoming is they aren't open but a few days weekly. Don't miss them if they're open, they make Bandera a worthwhile stop or side trip traveling in this area.

Hidden gem. We stood in front of the entrance (behind the hotel) and weren’t sure it was a restaurant. You have to look for it, but well worth it. Beyond the small entrance it spreads out to many tables with a view of the river valley. Service was great and food was amazing.

First off the service was awesome. The waiter was very friendly and well mannered. The food was great and the thing that stood out to me was that they knew their regulars and what they wanted as soon as they walked In and now a days its hard to find that. I hope to return soon.

(This is an updated version of my review) We went a little after 12 and it was not busy at all. We ordered the potato skins ( photo below) and it was delicious there was 6 of them but I forgot to take a photo of that and only have the one. I got the pulled pork sandwich and it was the the best pulled pork I have ever had ( as long as I remember). I got shoestring fries and mac and cheese with the pulled pork, there were really tasty. Three members of my party got the buffet (does not happen all the time and photo below) and they said it was really good. The second time they went back some of the chicken was a little undercooked but we hold them and they quickly fixed it. The buffet consisted of chicken, corn, mashed potatoes, green beans and gravy. My sister got the cheeseburger (kids cheeseburger)she said it was really good but was smaller than she would have liked. She got ice cream after it was vanilla and it was really good. I got pictures of the menu and the sweet tea was tasty not crazy sweet. The waiter was mostly on top of the drinks and he was nice. The bathrooms are a little small but they are clean. It can get a little busy here but it is worth it, I recommend coming here.

Not the best we’ve tasted, but definitely still unique and has wonderful food! Overlooking Medina River, the restaurant is decorated nicely and with a nice view. The wait staff is quick, kind, and reads minds. The food portions were large and prepared well, and the gravy was the prime topping to the entrees. It’s hidden behind a motel and is a fantastic place to stop on by when passing through Bandera.

Our visit is a tale of 2 experiences. Our first 20 minutes was a definite 0 star. Beautiful afternoon to sit out the deck overlooking the ravine and river. We were on the deck with 3 other tables being serviced, however, TWO waiters completely ignored my family and I as we patiently waited to be acknowledged and waited on. Never happened. Even when the patrons at the three tables left, we sat out on the deck alone and nobody ever came back out. I say it was 20 minutes, my spouse says 30, that we patiently waited. I walked inside and talked to Daniel, the first waiter I saw, to order some drinks. Daniel was awesome and saved the day for us. Turned an awful experience into a satisfactory one. He took care of us from then on and gave us the attention and courtesy anyone would expect at a restaurant. The food was delicious and also a savior which was the reason we went to Brick's in the first place. Home cooked fried chicken and chicken fried steak were moist and flavorful. Smashed potatoes are a must try! Fried pickles and their jalapeño ranch are a great appetizer. Kids had grilled cheese and chicken tenders which they devoured. In Brick's defense, they are short on wait staff and are overwhelmed. However, a simple acknowledgment from the wait staff would've sufficed. Completely ignoring a patiently waiting family of 4 is never acceptable. The manager spoke with us and apologized for the lapse in service which we appreciated. I would return because Daniel was awesome and the food was delicious.

You can spend several hours in this store. I believe she told me it was 25,000 sq ft, and each vendor has its own little cubicle. Each cubicle is filled to the brim with great finds. I found mine and now you can stop and find yours. Very clean. Free coffee. 2 stories. I only took a couple pictures there would just be too many to take . Parking is alongside the building, but you can pretty much walk to it from anywhere you've parked.

I'm more of the blacksmith type so I got some good pictures of some very nice anvils they had for sale. We just live down the street and thought Don Chepe's had a limited menu, so we hadn't tried it. Menu is now expanded and is plentiful. I was jonesing for a hamburger and it was pretty good. My wife had the tortilla soup and a bean and cheese taco which were also pretty good. The atmosphere was ok (could lose the TV's for my taste) and everything was trending toward 4 stars, then we received the check and just felt ripped off. The prices are fine, but they add a surcharge for credit cards and then they "suggest" tips anywhere from 20% to 35%. Honestly, that's the first time I've seen a suggested tip on a check for 35%. These owners that get advice from the CC companies............there's a reason the CC companies get horrible customer service marks and if you follow their advice, you'll get them too. And then they have the horrible POS system that suggests a tip again along with the wonderful tap to pay system that doesn't work the first time.......I should have just paid cash because, as I mentioned before, there's a surcharge for using your card. I hate being nickel and dimed, and although we only live 4 blocks away, this will probably be our last time here. It's a shame to lose customers over little ticky-tacky add-ons that you wouldn't have to worry about needing if you just focused on satisfying the customer (which you did with your food) instead of squeezing every penny as they teach in business schools.

Great quiet place with some outstanding food. I ordered the classic enchiladas. They had a good flavor and came out quick, but I may have ordered too quickly because the fajitas coming out of the kitchen smelled wonderful. May be next time. I especially like their home made green salsa. It has enough heat to get your nose running but not so much that you breath fire. The service was great. I sat at the counter and was asked many times if I needed anything and was I doing okay. If you in town or even passing by on I-10, you will not be disappointed.

Food is decent for price. However, servers are not very attentive after being served. Also make sure to pay extra attention to the door upon entering and before paying. There is a 3% serve charge for each item ordered on your receipt if using a card. Cashier will not tell you upfront before paying. They will tell you if you questioned after paying and see it on your receipt. Go to the Taqueria restaurant in Hondo, food is super delicious, attentive servers and no hidden chargers.

I just moved to the Texas Hill Country where I discovered this extremely clean ,extremely friendly, Service was a 10 of 10 restaurant , Food (breakfast) was excellent. All I can say they have a new life long customer... YUMMY 😋

We arrived at 9 am when it opened so it wasn't too busy. There isn't a kids meal for breakfast, which kinda sucked as my 5 year old doesn't eat that much. The kids got the pancake plates with 2 eggs, 2 big pancakes and 2 slices of bacon for $11.99 I believe. Our 5.99 breakfast burritos were delicious with the extra sauce for 2.50. You can get a to-go cup for .25 as well when you order your drink. The bathrooms are clean enough. The sinks have hard water stains. Would definitely go back for lunch if we lived close by.

If I could I’d leave 0 stars!!! HORRIBLE!!! They make there chilaquiles tacos like this!! The babrbacoa was full or grease, I went in and tried to tell them how greasy the food was & how my taco was empty and they give attitude and slam stuff on the table rude!! Horrible service!!! Oh & yes barbacoa is great but not to the point where it’s literally saturates your whole bag!!! Gross 🤢

Chicken restaurant
Church's Texas Chicken is a beloved fast-food chain that specializes in mouthwatering fried chicken, sandwiches, and wings, all complemented by a variety of Southern-inspired sides. Recently, I had the pleasure of ordering their family meal which included 16 pieces of mixed chicken along with three delicious sides—mashed potatoes, coleslaw, and mac n cheese—plus two refreshing half-gallon teas. The location was conveniently visible from the street and maintained a clean environment throughout.
So happy to have found this Church’s Chicken. We placed a to go order of the 16 mixed and 3 sides family meal. Plus it came with 2 half gallon teas. From their selection of side items we ordered Mashed potatoes, Cole Slaw, and mac n cheese. It is in a nice location easily seen from the street. Inside, all areas are clean. The chicken and sides, as ever delicious!

They have an offer at bottom of your receipt, but this store doesn't like to give you your receipt. They don't even say hello when you walk in because all they greet you with is "here or to go?" Don't count on a smile either. Their chicken is either under cooked or over cooked.....

This location has definitely had its ups and downs over the last year that I have personally seen heard and experienced. In addition, my livelihood is food delivery yet have never picked up an order to deliver from this location so I didn't know what to expect today because I know that for my past personal orders there has been a hiccup or two... Which is fine I'm the person that will eat the food that I never ordered to begin with and pay extra and not say anything negative when things do happen. And I will still leave a 30 to 50% tip. It is just how I am. We are all human beings and deserve Grace especially in such a hard industry to work in people underestimate what food service workers genuinely go through. With that said, you can do whatever to my personal food but if you mess with my livelihood and their orders their food and my tips... Shoot that's a whole nother level. Period. Just leave it at that... Anyways, I go in to get my order for pickup and the gentleman in charge Maleake (I hope I am spelling that correctly) and his two employees did an absolutely phenomenal job and I sincerely appreciate his focus on getting the already time consuming order out to me promptly and by far best customer service I have seen at this location period. Thank you Maleake and your crew! Keep up the amazing work and you all deserve a raise and a day off 🙏🤗👏😊

This location is in need of closing down. The management is awful and the employees are not even trained to do their job properly. Every time I come to this location I am disappointed with mistakes, attitude, poor quality food etc... And to top it off the manager Kimberly is an absolute mistake for a general manager. She's unpleasant and takes no time with the development of her crew as well as her personal relationship with male crew members seems inappropriate, especially in front of paying customers. Everything is a mess under her management. Please reconsider dining at this location in Bandera. 👎🏽

Went in two hours before they closed, got food as they were closing. Wouldn't sell me chk strips ,because employs made them for them to take home. Turned four groups of costumes away saying it will take 20 mins to cook chn after this 20 mins is up. Very unprofessional, and when I finally got my food it was cold and slightly undercooked. Heard one employees tell the other one, that you're not supposed to cook the strips with the chicken. I was sick the rest of the night. Save your money. Every gas station in town makes better food. Especially five points.

Went in yesterday order 2 meals the lady taking the order was so rude I olms was just going to not order and leave but I just ordered and didn't say anything my friend said she's very rude and was rude when I asked her a question about a order if it came with one side I told him I know I just want to order and eat well we got are order they' we're short of count on the chicken strips and they looked like they were cut in half to make 2 I asked her they started going off on me I told her that she was talking rude and I'm only asking her a question and talking to her right she was still telling me that she put the right count in the order arguing still with me she told me she would refund me the money on the the chicken strp order instead of adding so I told her just to refund me the whole order and I told them they were rude and was going to make a complaint on them it seemed that they didn't care like it happens all the time and they still go to work with out corporate or owners telling them anything about their ways they talk to customer

Kickback Korner Bar and Grill is a lively spot that promises a fun atmosphere, especially for fans of country music. With great tunes filling the air, it's an ideal place to dance and unwind. The indoor seating is comfortable, adorned with charming decor, while the outdoor patio offers a pleasant escape—though it can be a bit small. Patrons have enjoyed tasty burgers and fresh-cut fries during their visits, making it a solid choice for lunch or dinner.
This place was fun, the music was great dancing music!!! Country! I will give 5 stars… But I did have one problem! The bartender (brunette) gorgeous girl. She gave my friend a Dr Pepper instead of a Diet Coke, I went back to bar to exchange and she was rude rude rude, recharging me $4.00 for just a switcharoo. No alcohol Rude hateful person!! Other than that. The place was fun

Food was delicious and gentleman cooking it was awesome! Came out to clarify a couple things and delivered it when done, great customer service from him. Bartender was ok, did well making the drinks just wasn't super friendly but was also very busy. Barstool at tables outside need some work and you'll want to watch where and how you sit if you don't want splinters. But overall the place was good!

Nice bar! Country bands often play there. Comfortable indoor seating and nice decor. Outdoor patio is somewhat small. The ladies bathroom in is very cozy with curtains as doors, and a bit hot. I didn't feel ac in them. Had a great time there.

I attempted to order the chicken strips because online it said they served it they did not. I got the chicken nuggets and it looks and tastes like they picked it up from a grocery store then fried it, really wishing I got sonic. This used to be a great place to get food but it now just tastes like real lazy bar food.

We stopped here for late lunch, about 2 pm or so. The burger was very good. We had a couple of beers and sat on the patio. The cigarette smoke was a bit overwhelming inside the building, so the outside was better. There were very few parking places so we had to park down a side street and walk back. Overall, it's not a bad place.

Restaurant
China Bowl is a Chinese restaurant in Bandera, Texas that offers a unique twist on traditional dishes. The Wonton soup comes with an unexpected crunchy vegetable topping, while the calamari is tender but can be made crunchier upon request. The Garlic Shrimp steals the show as a highlight of the meal. Visitors praise the immediate service and sequence of orders, with soups like egg drop and wonton providing comfort and satisfaction.
The food here is really good. I've eaten a lot of bad Chinese food but this is not one of those. We ordered Curry Chicken, Shrimp Pad Thai, & Singapore Noodles and enjoyed them all. We will definitely be back.

The food was just ok. I ordered orange chicken and it did not taste like orange chicken. It was so spicy I couldn't finish my meal. The wonton soup was good and the egg roll was delicious. Rice was so bland Hubby had beef and broccoli and he really liked it.
Ann T — Google review
Bought some chicken dishes and a beef and broccoli plate to go, got food poisoning from all of it, There were MULTIPLE blonde hairs in our food spanning across 4 dishes. Server behind the counter did not look like she cared whatsoever, she wasn't mean just not very enthusiastic about serving us, basically just dropped a couple menus in front of us. Some of the food tasted and smelled like it had been Drenched in enough garlic to make you want to throw up and the smell of it, and most it tasted like if the chicken was thrown into a bucket of expired fish, just a horrible experience all around, if you want dinner for between 30 and 50$ just go to the Mendozas Mexican restaurant in the shopping center across from dairy queen
Mike G — Google review
The service is expedient, the food is pretty good. I had the house rice and it was delicious. The egg foojoung is good and presentable. The facilities are in very good condition. The reason I give 4 stars is because of the annoying flies I encountered while at the restaurant, other than that you will have an overall good experience. If you are visiting check this place out. It will not break your wallet.
GRV — Google review
We had an excellent meal here last night. It wasn't perfect but kind of unexpected... We had a Wonton soup that wasn't quite traditional, lots of greens/veggies on top that were crunchy and quite nice since being in town here eating a lot of foods that don't have a big vegetable presence. The calamari was nice and tender but the breading was not crunchy. ( The waitress later told us we could request it to be fried crunchier). The highlight of my meal was the Garlic Shrimp. This dish literally had everyone in the restaurant asking what it was....a LOUD sizzling could be heard from across the room and the dish was "popping" and "crackling" as the waitress carried it high above her. She actually wouldn't serve it to me until it had settled down....I ordered mine with extra spice and it was just excellent. The veggies we're served steamed on the side and all you had to do was set them on the sizzling plate to heat them up a little more in the sauce. The shrimp we're well cooked and flavorful. Watch your tongue though, that plate stays hot for a long time!!! Husband had Garlic chicken and pork egg foo young and also enjoyed his entrees. I wasn't super impressed with the egg foo young/didn't care for the gravy, slightly sweet to me but there were big pieces of meat present. The service was perfect and even servers that weren't waiting on us, would check on us. The lack of five stars is due to the atmosphere. "New" country music was playing (yuk), would have preferred some thing more Zen. Husband said they could jazz up the decor and it would be perfect. Overall, this place was darn good!

First off the reviews come from Bandera so that should tell you something. Numerous times placing an order there is something missing. The same story, I'm so sorry, you can come back and get it. DAH, you need to specifically ask for sweet and sour for egg rolls.

We visited The China Bowl Restaurant today for some of the finest Chinese Food we’ve had in quite some time. The Owner met us upon arrival and the service is only equaled by that of the finest 5 Star restaurants. A Real Class Act!!!! The Chinese Food we ordered was tender and cooked to perfection. Large park with rugged terrain offering 40 miles of multiuse trails, a campground & primitive sites.
First hike of the year finished! Amazing! Beautiful! Great hike! Equestrian, bikes and regular hikes are all present, but you will have to share the trails. The Wilderness Loop Overlook Trail is very challenging, be careful of the steep inclines. The Merrick trail was easy to moderate. This state park lives up to it. Remember: the TX State park pass gets you into all the state parks for free!

Beautiful scenery. I did the one mile hike since I was passing through on my way to another park. The staff was very friendly and recommended the hike. The trails are great for mountain biking.
Merideth O — Google review
Nice scenery and moderate challenging hike. We went on 2-3 different trails and did get lost at a point. Lots of horse poop, so be careful. There needs to be more signs as you hike so you know which trail you’re on, at least those “0.15 miles” etc. No signs on the road either. Wear sunscreen, even though it was cloudy. Overall, decent place but needs more attention to details and upkeep.
Stephanie W — Google review
A must visit if you want some beautiful views. Plenty of trails with different levels of climbing. Being plenty of water and sunscreen.

Tucked away but very friendly TPWD staff. Horses available by reservation to discover the trails easier. After heavy rains most trails are closed until the slippery mud dries up. Beautiful area.
Kathy T — Google review
I cam here on a weekend. The woman at the reception was very nice and welcoming, great staff. Unfortunately they closed the trails because it rained the day before, So before coming here, I would strongly recommend calling to make sure the trails are still opened. Nevertheless, I walked along the main road and the views were great. It was about 4 miles round trip. It would obviously have been a better experience to use the trails, but I was still very happy with the visit.

During the off-season you don't have to make a reservation in advance but during the cooler months I do recommend because they're limited on parking. Wonderful hiking areas and that's the main feature of this state park

The camping spot was nicely shaded and we had ample room for our tent and tables. We were able to book a guided sunset horseback ride which was the highlight for me! The company we used meets right at the park entrance and takes you through the hiking trail. The local town Bandera is cute as well. Will need to visit again!

Guests can also enjoy amenities such as a pool, BBQ, music, dancing, and tennis. The ranch prides itself on Southern hospitality with friendly staff who provide excellent service and delicious food. It's the perfect peaceful getaway for those looking to experience the epitome of Southern hospitality in a warm and welcoming environment.
Totally exceeded expectations! So grateful for our three generation family visit to Mayan. Age 8-74y thoroughly enjoyed 4 nights. I was worried we were staying too long, but it was a great amount and could've been longer. The pool was wonderfully refreshing and the food was plentiful and delicious. The lone vegetarian was constantly happy and stuffed. Amazing history at Mayan and an incredibly warm hardworking staff who are largely all family. We want to return with other family who were very jealous they didn't join this time around. Tips: Go to the river. Bring water shoes, jump in with the rope swing. Boots not necessary for the riding. Definitely bring a brimmed hat and don’t forget your own pool towels.

A++++++ As The Muslim Cowboy, I love the south and horses and ranches and BBQ ETC The service and the events and activities were spectacular. The rustic lodges were very clean and serviced daily. They took incredible care of the horses and we all felt safe riding them EVEN MY 1 yr old!!! Ryan is gosh darn the best ranch hand I’ve ever met and truly is an amazing person who made friends with my whole group right off the bat and has such a gift with people and horses Since I don’t drink, I didn’t take part in any of those activities but they had a world record roper and bull whip expert, they had hay rides and super cool outdoor activities I don’t want to spoil for your next trip. The hospitality and personality of the family who runs it was so warm and welcoming that I cannot thank them enough. Highly highly recommend.

We enjoyed a Memorial Day Week getaway to the Mayan, a family operated, legendary dude ranch. Very clean rooms and pool as well as dining areas. The staff was very friendly and there was a daily schedule to guide your activity choices, or you could do things like tennis or horseshoes/pingpong. The food was good. We will be back.

We arrived in a super hot Sunday afternoon, without any reservation and really thirsty. The ranch owner was extremely hospitable, we had access to the ranch, they offer us a good coffee and some sodas. What a shame we could spend a couple of night there… If you are in the Bandera surrounding, consider to book a stay there.

Omg! This is a hidden jewel in the SATX area. I did not know about it until we had some friends from New Hampshire coming into town saying "they wanted to do Texas stuff." (Hmmmm what is that?) Ok. Cowboy stuff. Search and viola = Mayan Ranch. Beautiful place. Beautiful people Excellent food & fun all bundled together. You will NOT be disappointed about the decision to spend time here. I promise. Extra bonus: there were families with kids here from England and France. In this crazy world, it's nice to see people from all over mixing and talking and getting along. Kids playing and laughing and everyone enjoying this experience together. Come join the family.

Had a wonderful time recently, will definitely be returning in the future. The only drawback was when I was taking a much needed nap when housekeeping let themselves in through the adjoining room then opened the door to my room(the latch would not work otherwise it would have been locked) scaring me half the death. She asked me if I needed service, I obviously did not. Please provide Do Not Disturb signs for your doors.

Night club
Bar
Arkey Blue's Silver Dollar Saloon, which has been in operation since the 1930s, is the oldest continuously running honky-tonk establishment in Texas. This renowned bar, situated in Bandera, Texas, boasts a vibrant ambiance and an array of valuable artifacts connected to country music. Over the years, numerous music icons such as Earnest Tubb and his Texas Troubadours, Hank Williams, and Willie Nelson have graced its stage with their performances.
This is such a cool place. It’s a real honky tonk bar / country dance place with antique decor. The people are friendly and the atmosphere is fun. It’s a must see in Bandera. The live music is really great, too. Make sure to bring cash.
K-Leigh — Google review
The greatest honky tonkin' saloon in the universe! Only place even close is The Buckhorn in Laramie WY. First time I walked through the door and out of the sunlight into a dark and dreamy land where time stands still, I was 21 years old. Now, I'm 50...I mean, a little older...and it still gives me the same magical feeling.

Really cool place! Loved the live music and inexpensive drinks. However, I couldn't stay longer than one drink because of the cigarette smoke. It's sad that they're forced to allow smoking. The character of this place is remarkable, and I would go back often but for the smoke. Bandera, you're hurting tourism!

Arkeys is a must-see! Over 100 years old, this underground hideaway is so unique that you feel like you stepped back in time. From the bar top to the Dolly pinball machine. Pinball for a quarter and $7.00 for 2 drinks. We had a blast looking at all the memorabilia, which I'm sure we missed half of! Locals enjoying a game of dominos, and we played pinball! 3 hours of feeling 13 years old all over again. IMPORTANT NOTE : they only take cash payment, no plastic! So make sure you bring cash and quarters! 😆 Gotta play Dolly Pinball!

Men, if you want a joint to do all your first-date heavy lifting for you and end up looking cool in her eyes. Then take her to Arkey Blue's Silver Dollar in Bandera, Texas. True story.I recently attended a packed Justin Trevino matinee dance on a Saturday at Arkey Blue's. The occasion also marked the first date for me and a woman who drove from Houston to accompany me to the dance. She showed up on time, and was way out of my league. It was her first time in a honky-tonk. She smiled as she took in the friendly, rowdy atmosphere. Then the band started to play and she was hooked. After a song she said, "What a cool place." Men, note how this jumping place made her not regret her decision to join me and was in no hurry to leave. Thank you, Arkey. I had an open bottle in a paper bag at our booth. You see, men. Arkey is BYOB and I brought smooth sipping mezcal to our first date. She asked what was in the bottle, and we started to drink fast and hard. A lady won't usually drink as freely as she would at an establishment when you are buying her drinks by the glass, and she won't feel as warm as my date felt as I refilled our cups right at the table. Thank you, Arkey. The tight acoustics and high volume are so loud, but in a good way, because it forced us to sit close to each other while screaming our conversation in each other’s ear. Thank you, Arkey. The combination of a first date who danced drunk in my arms most of our time there. Thank you, Arkey. Though, mind you, in her coquettish, sophisticated and charm-drunk sort of way, at a friendly venue with a band playing the best music, while we enjoyed our own libations, it easily made Arkey Blue's Silver Dollar in Bandera, Texas, a must destination for a man who wants his surroundings to make hlim appear like the first date she was hoping would be waiting for her after a long drive just to meet him. Thank you, Arkey. But what I will remember the most about our first date at Arkey Blue's was after the dance, kissing her passionately on a quiet, empty street in Bandera. I think there is a song somewhere there. And men, remember to bring the liquor.

4,7 stars - for authenticity! This place has a lot of character. Loved the elderly, no- fuss bartender. Made me feel at home. Loved the ambience where everyone seemed to be having a good time. Simple, relaxed, unpretentious, real. There was live music (cowboy music) and I loved how people got up and danced to it. Beers were $3 each. Had to walk up and down the street quite a bit before I figured out the place is just a door that takes you to the basement! 🤣 Hard to find, but a gem. September 5, 2021

Bandera General Store

Grocery store
The Bandera General Store, established in a historic building dating back to 1907, offers a unique shopping experience. Visitors can browse through cowboy boots, hats, and Lone Star State-themed souvenirs while enjoying a scoop of Blue Bell Ice Cream from the old-fashioned soda fountain. The store's original wood floors and tin tile ceiling add to its charm. In addition to its diverse merchandise, the store exudes a tongue-in-cheek, patriotic Texan vibe with politically incorrect signs and magnets.
There is a lot to see in this little store. They have the best ice cream. And they have a candy section of hard to find older candy named brands. Enjoy

It brings back memories, the candy you use to eat as a child or maybe that special toy . So much in this store. How about a scoop of ice cream and sit on the old stools from way back. The old floors that creek when you walk on them .

A wonderful experience today at Bandera General Store during cowboy gun fight show and a perfect time to shop for souvenirs all with photo opportunities to capture Kodak moments.

Our Family Day mid day finding this place is a throw back from 60s forsure all they need is a jukebox them old 45s...ice cream candy snacks chips salsa treasures and more staff is friendly telling us Ghost stories about the store I believe in ghost

Besides ice cream and cowboy boots, this is a fun store to visit if you can handle tongue-in-cheek, not politically correct, patriotic & proud to be Texan stuff (signs, magnets, etc). There's a sit-down area inside and friendly staff who welcome you when you walk inside.

THEY HAVE THE BEST SUPERMAN ICE CREAM HERE!!! (but they call it "Krazy Colors"). Also they have a bunch of other flavors and shakes, candy, gifts, and clothes. Cute old fashioned store. And Marsha, the owner, is a real sweetheart! Fun place to stop.
Jenny M — Google review
Nice little store with all sorts of things from boots to malted milkshakes. The people working were very helpful and polite. The milkshake was very good and my daughter got some boots she loves.

Natural History Museums
The Bandera Natural History Museum is a large museum that offers a variety of natural history exhibits, including dinosaur replicas, dioramas, and educational stations. Families with kids will find plenty to enjoy at this museum, which features life-size replica dinosaurs and Ice Age animals along walking trails, bone-digging play stations, over 100 full-body animal mounts, a pollinator garden, Latin American ceremonial masks, and even a 20,000-year-old mammoth femur bone.
My best friend and I were going to visit the river in Bandera city, when it began to rain. We had passed the sign for Bandera Natural History Museum, and decided to check it out instead. It's decorated with a bunch of cute dinosaurs outside, but we didn't get to mosey around the outdoor trails due to the weather. When we entered, we were warmly greeted by the staff. We were given a curator guided tour of the Spanish American art, and then explored the taxidermy dioramas. There are so many wonderful finds here. The staff was so kinda, and in fact offered my to use their wheelchair; everything was accessible... Thank you for the wonderful conversations, and for sharing your knowledge, Lisa.

Great value. Admission wasn’t bad, and Groupon made it better. Staff is extremely friendly. Both museums are very elaborate for their size. The outside displays were so fun. Kids loved it.
Mark G — Google review
We took our kids here thinking it would be a cute place to go for the morning to see some fun dinosaur stuff. It ended up being way more than that! We loved seeing the dinosaurs outside and digging for the fossils in the sand. Inside, they boys spent time cooling off watching the dinosaur battles and playing with some dinosaur toys. We were so surprised by the dioramas as well and my boys loved seeing all the animals and searching for the hidden Dino eggs! The fine art exhibit with beautiful paintings and treasures from Spain was unexpected and beautiful to meander through. What we expected to be a short visit ended up being almost 2 hours and we loved every minute!
Jackie M — Google review
It's a fun place for kids. The assortment of stuffed animals in side were fun. And our little guy loved the huge metal dinosaurs outside. The reception folks were very nice. I enjoyed the beautiful Christian art. We enjoyed the digging for bones in the sand display and the orange cat 🐈.

Highly recommended. You may think Bandera is only a cowboy/cowgirl, country western, beer joints destination. It is, but don't miss the hidden gem at the Natural History Museum. Renowned artworks from Spain and Portugal as well as excellent taxidermy of big cats, antelope, and bear from the Artic, Africa, and South America lie within. Huge dinosaur replicas from recent movies. A large scale replica of a sailing ship from prior centuries awaits your discovery!

Took my daughter's, we had such a great time! They loved it!

This was a great experience. It has an exibit, art museum and outdoor Dino exhibit. Resonably priced and with a guide tour. Great for folks with little ones. T

Great museum, lots of animals on display, with large dinosaur statues outside, along with a fun 'fossil' digging area. The New Spain art exhibit is very interesting, with some unique pieces.

The Chickin Coop in Bandera is a popular spot for those looking to relax and enjoy the city atmosphere with a drink and bite to eat. Although there might be some wait time due to understaffing, it's worth it for the opportunity to sit on the patio and unwind. The fried mushrooms are especially delicious, and locals recommend trying their onion rings. The outdoor seating is perfect for people watching, making it a great place to visit with friends or on a date.
Hands down the best fried chicken sandwich I have ever had. Even the last bite was still warm and juicy. They make everything in house. Those onion rings were pretty great too! I think the lady that owns the joint bartends and waits the tables yet service was excellent as well because she knows what she's doing!
Jaime S — Google review
Stopped in for a quick afternoon snack and a glass of wine while shopping. Local shop owners told us the coop had best onion rings in town and they did not disappoint. Mom loved the outdoor seating for people watching.

They were hospital to me and my.boys as we celebrated the Marine Corps 244th birthday. We will certainly be going back next year for our celebration.

We often stop here when we ride through Bandera. You do wait a while for food, mainly because they are understaffed, but honestly if you are just wanting to relax and watch the city and have a drink and a bite to eat, it is great. We love to sit on the patio and chill. Their fried mushrooms are excellent. If you're visiting Bandera with friends or are out on a date, I say definitely stop by.
Sam V — Google review
Fun biker bar. Full liquor, beer and wine. Good food and service. We had a good time.
James K — Google review
This place had a great outdoor sitting area. It appeared to be dog friendly, which is great. And it was downtown Bandera, Texas which was super cute. The food was pretty tasty for a bar. Wouldn't mind stopping by again. I would go to hang out with friends. Not so much with your kids.
Diana M — Google review
Been going there for 3 years. New chef/cook there last visit. Very dissapointing when compaired to many previous visits. Previously would have given it 5 Stars. Bar is great, other foodstuffs are probably great. My wife and I had drilled chicken sandwich and chicken burger. Chicken was tough as a boot!
John S — Google review
Super laid back. Food is incredible. Make sure to have the home made onion rings. They make their own brand of Bloody Mary mix that is incredible. Come chill and enjoy small town Bandera on Main Street.

Wow! This was our second choice for breakfast but should have been the first! The chilaquiles meal was AMAZING! Best ever! Try this place out! You will not be disappointed. We also had a breakfast taco which was fresh and homemade!
Elizabeth R — Google review
Go-to place in town for breakfast tacos!Whether we’re grabbing them to go or eating there, Mi Pueblo has never failed us. The food is always delicious and the service is great. My husband also loves their beef fajita tacos and pancakes! I will say — if you’re ordering to go, it’s usually faster to park and run inside to grab your food. The line at the window can get long since people are often ordering and waiting there.
Lauren W — Google review
They serve breakfast even later than most, we really wanted breakfast tacos and stopped in at 11 am. The jueves rancheros were perfect, I don't think anyone can mess up this plate. We also tried the pancake plate and s couple of tacos. Thank you for serving us chips and salsa to start. It was nice and quiet and the servers were great. No issues on waiting, just good fresh food.
Magaly D — Google review
Been a long time customer to Mi Pueblo so I understand that the service and food’s quality can vary but recently I’ve felt that Mi Pueblo’s quality in a hehe menu items have changed and began to deteriorate in quality, with numerous errors made in preparing the food (i.e. missing food, ingredients once present, etc…) that it’s made the food unappetizing and has made me rethink eating here.
Noah C — Google review
Dont sweep and I mean long dusting sweeping!! and pine sol mop when customers are still eating lunch! AND your still seating customers to the mopping and strong pine sol smell! Choking from all! Got up and left! Really? I brought it to the attention of staff and they just looked at each other like du h? Close duties are just that, at closing!!!!
Gloria C — Google review
I'm a chef and I will never sugar coat... The food over all was pretty good... Charro beans kinda let me down tasted like ranch style beans that someone tried to change... couple things need a little work... menus and high chairs where really dirty... and that's your first impression... Just step it up alittle and it would be a great place.. Well until next time signing off Two Peas
