Historical landmark
Boldt Castle & Boldt Yacht House is an impressive stone castle situated on a 5-acre island in the St. Lawrence River. It offers tours of its interior, formal gardens, and grounds. The castle was built by George C Boldt, the original owner of New York's Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Visitors can take cruises from nearby operators like Uncle Sam's Boat Tours and Clayton Island Tours to reach the castle and explore other attractions in the area.
I recently visited Boldt Castle and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment you arrive by boat, the castle feels like something out of a fairy tale. Highlights: •The grounds are beautifully maintained, with vibrant flowers and lush green lawns, perfect for photos (as you can see in mine!). •The stone tower and the castle architecture are breathtaking and so fun to explore. Every corner is rich with history and intricate details. •Inside, I loved the restored rooms, the grand organ and the historic kitchen really transport you back in time. •The views of the St. Lawrence River and surrounding islands are stunning from every angle. The boat ride to and from the castle adds to the adventure. • It can get a bit crowded at the dock, so plan to arrive early if you want a quieter experience. Tips: •Bring a camera, you’ll want to capture every angle! •Wear comfy shoes for walking around the grounds and towers. •Take your time and soak in the romantic history behind Boldt Castle, it’s truly a gem in the Thousand Islands. I highly recommend visiting if you’re in the area. It’s a wonderful day trip for families, couples, or anyone who loves history and beautiful scenery!
Giriraj B — Google review
We had a beautiful day for a boat ride to Boldt Castle, and it did not disappoint! The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The Castle itself is breathtaking — it’s been preserved in pristine condition. I didn’t see a speck of dust or dirt anywhere. It was so nice to explore at our own pace with the self-guided tour. Tip: Once you pass through Customs but before your ticket is scanned, grab one of the program guides available in both English and French — it really helps you navigate and learn about each area. The Gift Shop is also a must-visit for a great selection of souvenirs. Walking through the Castle was a humbling experience. It’s incredible to see the love George Boldt had for his wife, Louise — keep an eye out for the heart motifs throughout the décor. Wherever he could, he included them, and it adds a really touching layer to the visit. This tour is best suited for adults or interested young adults. There isn’t much to engage children under 13. Overall, I highly recommend making time for this excursion. It’s a perfect blend of history, romance, and stunning views.
Stephanie — Google review
When you go online to buy the tickets the very short ferry from the yacht house (where you park the car) to go to Boldt Castle (which is on its own island) is free. Do not be scammed by hotel people saying you can get a discount if you buy the tour. Unless you want to do a tour of the other island and go up and down the water. Otherwise the $32 entrance fee to the castle includes the yacht house, the ferry and the castle. All self guided. Download app to listen. The upper level still are not complete, but renovations are planned. The low levels and some rooms on the second level are renovated and looked really nice reflecting the actual blueprint. The grounds are gorgeous flowers everywhere, and beautiful colorful plants. Every window you look out of in the castle you can see a view of the water, which is amazing. You do get to go to the unfinished upper levels just to see what things look like, but really not much there. A small gift shop on the second floor… relatively moderately priced items. A nice way to spend the afternoon. I think the entire thing took maybe around two hours. Parking is also free. You do have to walk on gravel from the parking lot to the yacht house. So if you have walking disabilities, please note that it’s at least six 700 yards away. You can buy tickets online and save the QR code for each ticket purchased. The little fairy that goes back-and-forth from the castle comes every 15 minutes. When you’re at the actual castle, there’s a very small store that sells things like hotdogs/hamburgers if you are hungry. A very lovely home and will definitely be returning in the future to see what other renovations they have.

We visited Boldt Castle and the Boldt Yacht House on June 29, 2025, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The grounds are beautifully maintained, and the views of the St. Lawrence River from the castle are absolutely stunning. We took our time exploring each floor, and the restored rooms and historical displays gave us a fascinating look into the Boldt family’s story and the castle’s unique history. The Yacht House was a surprise highlight – the collection of historic boats and the architecture itself were impressive, and the staff there were friendly and knowledgeable, answering our questions with genuine enthusiasm. We enjoyed walking around the docks and seeing the craftsmanship of the old wooden boats up close. There is plenty of space to wander, take photos, and enjoy the river breeze. It never felt crowded, and we appreciated the relaxing pace. The ferry ride to and from the castle was smooth and added to the experience with scenic views of the islands. If you are in the Thousand Islands area, Boldt Castle and the Yacht House are must-see attractions that offer a perfect mix of history, architecture, and natural beauty. Highly recommend spending a few hours here to take it all in.

It was so beautiful!! The staff were extremely nice, knowledgeable and accommodating. We even came upon a proposal at the shell fountain and she said yes! They looked so happy. The boat ride is very short and the docks easy to navigate. The paths are kept clear of debris and the map was easy to follow. I would highly recommend!!!

They did an amazing restoration of the place. The inside gives a realistic impression of the time it was built and theres are lot of story to learn from. The 15 min video gives you a rich history of the castle and the people who built it. Overall an great experience.
Vanne S — Google review
This place was so amazing. Every single staff member was so sweet. It was just breathtakingly beautiful!!! The gardens, the inside, the outside, you could easily spend an entire day here! My only complaint was that the gift shop was kinda lame. I definitely want to renew my vows here in a few years.
Kyrstin R — Google review
Such an amazing piece of history to visit and story to learn. They have restored a good portion of the castle and other buildings and the grounds are also beautiful. What a wonderful way to spend a beautiful summer afternoon. We were lucky it was not too busy and were able to appreciate the beauty of Heart island. We did a 5-hour excursion from Rockport which included a 3 hour stop at the island. Well worth it!

Castle
The Boldt Castle Yacht House, built in 1903 on Wellesley Island and linked to the Boldt Castle, is a must-see attraction. Visitors can take a complimentary shuttle boat from Heart Island. It's an ideal spot for a family outing with ample opportunities for photography and rich historical insights about the castle and the 1000 islands.
We visited the Yacht House via the boat shuttle from Boldt Castle. It was a very quick 2 or so minute ride. It’s a lot smaller than the castle however it’s still pretty cool to see. The inside of the boat house seems more grand than the castle. There are a bunch of old boats to check out and a small section of the house for some of the workers. Small, but worth it especially if you’re already out n about.

Excellent staff at Boldt Yacht House. Wheelchair accessible bathroom available directly outside of entrance. No need to buy tickets in advance, not that busy. Shuttle service is great and always on time, wheelchair accessible. Yacht house has old boats displayed and lots of historical snippets displayed.

I love old architecture and especially wealthy buildings and mansions! This gilded age building is beautiful! The story is as amazing as the building. Mr Boldt was a hotelier and he loved boats! The granite for the building was quarried locally and the colors include pink, gray and tans. The interior has beautiful wood details with carvings that are beautiful. If you are here (and you love old things!) in the 1000 Islands drive to Boldt yacht house and take their taxi to the castle, you will love it.

It's a beautiful yacht house with all different types of antique boats with information of their history. There are boat rides to Boldt Castle.

Wow, you just drive here and take their ferry to visit the famous Boldt Castle. I didn’t even realize I could just drive, because I always thought you had to book some 3-hr boat ride that stops at the castle for few mins. Must visit if you are on vacation in this side of NY.

Thousand Islands Winery is a picturesque property offering wine tastings, a barn, and a large gift market. The winery provides a range of wine options from dry to sweet, including whites and reds, as well as wine slushy choices. Visitors can also enjoy beer tastings with several options available in a flight. The location is conveniently close to the Welsley Island bridge and features a large red building.
An excellent wine-tasting experience! The selection is impressive—from the dry Bourbon Barrel Marquette with its rich, smooth bourbon finish, to the sweet and vibrant North Country Red that tastes like grape juice and mixes perfectly into cocktails. The tasting room is warm and inviting, with a friendly, knowledgeable staff. Lisa and her team go above and beyond, offering insightful tours that highlight the winery’s fascinating history. It’s a great destination to relax, explore, and enjoy. Don’t leave without grabbing a bottle (or two)—perfect for sipping at home or out on the boat. Already looking forward to coming back and discovering more favorites!

Easy, Easy, Easy, Easy We stayed overnight via Harvest Hosts for RV travelers. After an EASY border crossing back to the U.S. from over a month's visit to Canada (we needed to give up our frozen chicken, eggs, and tomatoes), it was EASY to get to the winery and EASY to park. We made our wine purchases and met up with family nearby for a Fourth of July cookout. Big bonus: when we returned to our rig, we were treated to a great fireworks display from neighbors of the winery. We are still in the area for a few days, and will be back for a few more bottles of wine to take home with us. Our hosts were great, so it is EASY to recommend this Harvest Host stay!

This venue goes above and beyond to ensure every guest feels valued. The staff was attentive, making sure each customer was taken care of and checking in to confirm everything was just right. The wine tasting area was spotless, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting—perfect for a relaxed outing. What really stood out was the presence of the owner, Steve. He happened to be walking around and took the time to personally chat with guests. He was incredibly down-to-earth and welcoming, adding a personal touch that made the experience even more special. Overall, the place radiates excellent family vibes. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great service, a clean and friendly environment, and a memorable visit!

2024 Blossom Festival Another fun visit to Thousand Island Winery! Our annual tasting and stop at the festival did not disappoint. Large variety of red and white wines ranging from dry to sweet, tasting was informative on farm history and grape growing in a colder climate. I also indulged in a Berry Wine Slushy! A good amount of vendors with various crafts, hand made soaps, jewelry, spices and more. Live music and food , slushy truck during festival, River Rat cheeses available. Always a must stop when in the Thousand Island Region!

I'm gonna be honest a few months ago this score would have been lower which was sad because I love their wine BUT Kathryn was AMAZING! She came into the wedding planning late because she hasn't been their as the events coordinator long but I hope they keep her forever because she was amazing! She communicated well, was super sweet and understanding of my previous frustrations with their last wedding coordinator and made up for it and then some! I can't wait to see all the lovely ceremonies and receptions people will have with her at their side!

Always a must for us when in the 1000 Islands region. Great wines and generous pours for tastings. I gave it four stars this time because of the lack of food options. You put on some better food options and Ill rate it a 5+
Doug H — Google review
I had a disappointing experience at Thousand Island Winery recently that I feel compelled to share. My daughter and I, both of legal drinking age and holding valid Pennsylvania IDs, were excited to enjoy a day of wine tasting together. However, our experience quickly turned sour when we were informed by the staff that they could not serve my daughter due to the format of her Pennsylvania license, which is vertical. What made the situation even more frustrating was that the staff acknowledged that my daughter was indeed 21 years old. Despite this, they still refused to serve her based solely on the vertical format of her ID. We felt dismissed, and our concerns were not taken seriously. The staff seemed unaware of the nuances surrounding state ID regulations and did not offer any alternative solutions or explanations. As loyal patrons of this winery, we were disappointed to see how poorly we were treated. Instead of a delightful day of tasting wines, we left feeling unwelcome and frustrated. Moving forward, we will not be returning to Thousand Island Winery. I hope they reconsider their policies and training around serving guests with valid identification to prevent others from having a similar experience.

Additionally, it provides access to the Carnegie Bay Walking Trail and the River Walk, both offering picturesque views of the river and surrounding wildlife. Nice park on the bay, between a medium and small size, absolutely beautiful views. Has a public bathroom, lots of benches, playground, beach/swimming area, and a large Pavillion on top.

Within walking distance from downtown. Great place to take the family for a picnic. There is a small beach and a play ground. Don't forget you r on the St. Lawrence River so you have the chance to observe all the huge freight ships going in or out of our country. An awesome sight !

top tier sunset spot, wheelchair access to the lower park, as well. frequent this spot pretty often, usually not too busy, always clean, great view of the castle.

I agree this is the hidden gem of the city.. (Although the pirates can find it on pirate weekend. )We've come here for years. We usually go up first thing in the morning.Bring up breakfast with us and sit there and watch the boats and listen to the water. It's quiet and beautiful. I like that. They've installed an elevator to get the handicapped down to and up from the docks. I also love the genius installation of the weather curtains around the pavilion. There's a small but adequately stocked kids playground to the left looking at the pavilion. It is meter parking here so remember that. There are picnic tables and a couple of grills outside of the pavilion. There are public bathrooms inside the pavilion. A bridge. Connects the island to the mainland. Casino island. Its tiny and covered with adirondack chairs.

Love this park, so relaxing and great place to enjoy the weather and see all the boats and jet skis. It was a shame to see the grass so burnt this year, but it was a hot summer.

Coffee Pot Cathy's in Alexandria Bay, NY is a cozy and welcoming spot known for its delicious coffee and friendly staff. It's a great place to grab a quick cup of coffee or spend a leisurely afternoon. The menu includes various breakfast options and homemade pastries, making it an excellent spot for breakfast or brunch. The dining area is small, but there is outdoor seating available. Customers have praised the efficient service and the delightful beverages served at this family-friendly establishment.
EXCELLENT, friendly, warm and efficient service. I was in somewhat of a hurry, but still wanted breakfast, and they accommodated me very well. And yes, the photo of the sweet looking blond lady, is Cathy herself! She is super helpful and nice, but gets things done! Update: You have got to be kidding me, I just finished eating the English Muffin breakfast sandwich with egg , cheddar and bacon, and then the heated-up blueberry scone...... I always want to be straightforward and honest and not embellish at all, and I do not believe that I am embellishing when I say, that breakfast sandwich is literally the best that I've had in my life, and that scone, was literally the best I ever had in my life.🤯🤯🔥💥💥 I am kind of blown away right now. Cathy was saying how good her cook is who is an actual chef, and now I 100% believe her💯💯

The waitress was somewhat friendly. And this place takes cash and credit card. Me and my husband got similar breakfast platter the only difference was he had homefries. Everything was not what we imagined. The eggs was the only I can enjoy, the sausage, the homefries and the bread that was soaked with butter can’t enjoy it. On top of the coffee my husband said was horrible. If you see the pic that i attached one of the creamer was old I’m not sure if they didn’t check it or cycle it with new ones but from where we sat was by the window the one that closest to the kitchen that sunlight came through the window and the items on the table where they had the creamer, was probably got spoiled cuz of it.

This was a small coffee and breakfast spot that I discovered by accident while walking the streets of Alexandria Bay. Since I was hungry and craving pancakes, I stopped in - it was a wise choice. Genuinely the best freaking coffee I’ve ever had in my life. I loved the iced lattes.
Sarina M — Google review
Came here as a tourist (as this area is a tourist town). I love to enjoy coffee wherever I go, so I was happy to be here. It was Sunday, so I had no problem waiting in the long line that was out the door. There were two people taking orders. They were slammed, which I am more than always sympathetic towards. I have worked in food service for years. I am assuming it was Cathy herself that took my order. It was probably the rudest interaction i’ve ever had in my entire life (and I am pretty young). We ordered a simple latte & black coffee. The latte tasted like if I had went to a candy store and stuffed my mouth full of candy afterwards. The black coffee tasted like straight ash from a fire. Now, I have had bad drinks, and bad service. But this service was downright rude, and honestly nasty. The young girl at the counter looked like she was about to cry due to (who I am assuming is Cathy) yelling at her during any move she would make. We gave her a nice tip and I hope she received it. As we were walking out of the establishment, we could hear other customers talking about how bad the service was too. I am just appalled of how bad it was considering they had just reopened not too long again. Not a good look for your business, Cathy. Do better!

Uncle Sam Boat Tours offers an exceptional experience on the St. Lawrence River, making it a top choice for visitors to Alexandria Bay. The tours cater to both American and Canadian tourists, with stops at Heart Island and ample docking options for private watercraft. A shuttle service is available from Heart Island to the Boldt Yacht House. Visitors can expect knowledgeable tour guides who provide interesting facts throughout the journey.
They did a great job. They were very friendly. The boat was clean. They do offer snacks and drinks on board. There are lots of good places to view the sites along the St. Lawrence River. They also do drop off and pickup on every quarter hour and quarter to the next hour if you are dropped off at the castle.

We took the tour to Singer Castle and it was great! The guide was knowledgeable and we saw lots of stuff on the way to and from. Highly recommend this tour! Parking in A Bay was easy and the boat was clean with concessions and a restroom, too.

What a treat this was. The tour was beautiful and loved our host that shared the history and some fun facts about the 1,000 Islands and what they are all about. The area exceeded my expectations on it's sheer natural beauty. The boat had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and a snack bar with plenty of optuons. I would definitely recommend their tour. The only thing I could have done without was hearing the guide somewhat dis on their competitors, I didn't thaink that was needed. But otherwise it was great!

We took the boat tour to Singer Castle. What you need to know: there's a bar on the boat! With drinks and snacks - the tour was lovely - the weather was perfect and the boat waited for us at Singer Castle. It also stopped at a different castle on the way back to the dock. It was easy to find. Parking was a little challenging so plan some extra time for that but the signs were very clear. Thank you!

We love the Thousand Islands region and we love the US Boat tours. We have been blessed to bring our own boat here, we've rented boats here, but one thing that's always been nice is the guided river tour with Uncle Sam. My first time aboard this tour boat was many years ago, in my late teens, and now, each year, I bring my family back to experience the area I fell in love with all those years ago.

Went on the two castles tour earlier in the week. Today we did the dinner cruise on thursday for the barbecue themes.. We've done these tours for years.I can't ever get over how good the food is. The dinner cruise is a leisurely two and a half hour tour up the river under the thousand islands bridge and beyond. There's always entertainment on board. Soft drinks and water come with the meal. You have to pay for alcoholic beverages. There's always a nice dessert. They're all the same. We had cheesecake. What's nice is You don't have to worry about jostling to get in because the tables are already assigned to you. There are bathrooms on either side of the concession stands. ( unisex) . they keep everything clean and try to keep people in order.

Great pizza! You place your order at the counter and recieve a buzzer to be notified when your food is ready. Great dessert, sandwich, and salad options, and they're all very good (side options as well). We always come here for our meals when in the Bay. Inside seating available as well as deck shaded seating too with a great breeze.

Go for the drinks on the rooftop, not sure about all the other food but the pizza is one of the poorest showings in all of NYS and over $30 (gives me flashbacks of Scooter's, woof). I've had better pizza in South Dakota.

We were so impressed with this pizza! The crust was crispy and not too thick. Food came out quickly and the service was amazing. We will be coming back!!

Inside is quaint. Outside is very good to sit down but folks smoked which meant we couldn’t enjoy the nice weather outside. Cash only. ATM inside charged a $3.50 fee. The queue to order was very long had to wait in line for 20-25 minutes. Then the food took another 50-55 minutes - after several prompts. Apps came first and then another 10 minutes for pizza. The upshot was that the bread was fresh and the pizza was good. We just wish we had gotten the food sooner to be able to enjoy it. Had to box it up to go to see the fireworks.

I haven’t ever been treated this awful by a restaurant. Went for a pizza with my husband - ordered the ma’s classic as I told him I was craving mushrooms. We waited 45 minutes for it which was fine as it was busy, but when it came out it was a cheese pizza. The counter girl blatantly told me I was wrong and I ordered a cheese pizza and would not budge. I tipped generously, I now heavily regret it and will never come back.

Let me start by saying that any business that doesn’t take debit / credit cards in 2025 clearly doesn’t care about offering convenience to their customers. There is simply no excuse for it. The service was slow, and the food was adequate. It is frustrating waiting 35 minutes for half of a meal, only need to have to wait another 15 for the other half. Two of us were full before two others even got their food. I see no reason to ever return.

Great looking pizza. It is however cracker crust style. The toppings are great the sauce is good, just not a fan of cracker style. Tad greasy on the bottom with a grease aftertaste. Cheese leaves no pools of oil with is great. Next time will go with the sandwiches. For folders, not foldable. Cash only, order at the bar. We did toss out the half that we were taking home. I know they love cracker style in St. Louis, they must have too much lead in their water.

Known for its freshly made burgers and flavorful dishes like garlic parmesan wings and hand-battered chicken tenders, Riley's by the River has garnered positive reviews from visitors.
We had afterglow after this meal! We had a couple of rum drinks which were amazing. The st Lawrence sunset was particularly delicious. Got a cob salad that was one of the best, if not the best, salad I've ever eaten. The Uncle Sam burger was worth saluting! It was amazing. Oh the walleye chunks were fantastic. The staff is really friendly and helpful. Atmosphere is superb looking out over the docks. Well worth the price and time.

Lobster Roll was delicious but expensive (40 bucks). My daughter got hers with mayo instead of butter and it came stuffed with celery too. Much different than rolls we ever got elsewhere which made it unique. Other food was decent, not a huge menu. Loved the views from the windows.
Nicole S — Google review
Good location with free parking. Nice atmosphere and beautiful view of the bay. The food didn't taste good; the shrimp tacos were bland. The lobster wasn't bad in flavor, but the texture and color seemed like imitation lobster. The pizza was good. But the worst of all was the treatment of the hostess and waitress. If you don't like the job you do, look for another profession. But the customers who patronize the restaurant where you work aren't to blame for you not liking your job.

We ordered drinks, appetizers and a sandwich, everything was enjoyable. They were very busy but we were seated and served relatively quickly, considering.

Truly enjoyed breakfast here! The cookie dough pancakes were my favorite! Delicious good, gracious server and really cool ambiance! Beautiful views of the riverboats as well! Top notch!

We didn’t really like the calamari. My husband had rye so serious and I had the landlubber both was pretty good. This place has a seating by window view to water. Our waiter was DJ O (that’s what it said in our receipt) and he was friendly. Attached more pictures. We’re back 2 days after the dinner we had in here. At this time we tried their breakfast since I just found out from reading reviews someone said they had breakfast at blu anchor so I told my husband we can go back and try it before we checked out from our hotel. For breakfast we sat by the window, and I had 2 over easy eggs, homefries and wheat toast. My husband had eggs Benedict with ham, then our waitress (was Brittney that morning) asked him what side he want with it, my husband thought she was asking which protein he chose (which he already said ham) so with both misunderstanding my husband egg Benedict came with ham on the plate then 2 minutes after they brought a small plate of side of ham and we were looking each other like what?? We were confused why we have so many ham lol. Then Brittney came over and we told her about it and she said to my husband “well I asked you what side and you said ham” since my husband didn’t want the drama back and forth and Brittney seems didn’t know how to handle the situation and didn’t took it as was a mistaken my husband said “that’s fine” but then he can’t even eat the whole ham like how many foods he can handle that morning with too much ham?! I hate wasting money and food. I told my husband, in common sense first of all if the menu didn’t come with any sides with it why on earth she has to ask if he wants any sides?! That part was confused us also another common sense who would order eggs Benedict with ham and side of ham 🤷🏻‍♀️

Got 4 stars overall but all 5s in the categories just due to a somewhat limited menu. But that may be what keeps this place ticking. The blue cheese burger I ordered was very good. The fries that were an add on were a pleasant surprise. 50 bucks for 2 handhelds and 2 sodas.
Peter H — Google review
Honestly, one of the worst burgers I’ve ever had. The bacon was dry and not chewable (to the extent I had to take it out of the burger to be edible at least). The rest was pretty bad. Got fries which were okay and 3 pickles (counted). The bartender, who was awkwardly enough the receptionist, was truly complaining about his bartending side job - which really added a whole lot to the depressing atmosphere which the whole town has before winter. At least I got a 20$ coupon from my motel, which kinda saved the day. Tap beer was fine, nothing more.

Top Of The Bay Tex Mex Bar and Bistro is a charming waterfront establishment that serves up delightful Tex-Mex fare alongside live entertainment in a rooftop setting. With its friendly staff and fast service, this bistro offers an array of tasty dishes from tacos to burritos, all served with efficiency. Situated on the rooftop overlooking the bay, it provides shaded seating for visitors to enjoy their meals while taking in the picturesque views.
Great Tex Mex food, with a great location, and great drinks. The margaritas and tacos are superb and I highly recommend getting them! The chips, salsa, and queso are also very very good! Over looking the St Lawrence with a great breeze, what more could you want! You won't be disappointed.
Ashlei P — Google review
Very surprising how good everything was here - the view, service and food. We had nachos and various burritos and all was excellent. Some thought the best burritos they've ever had! Background mix of rock and country music, you can't go wrong. Everyone happy!!! Excellent!

Nice place with great view! The music, food and the view make up as the greatest combo. We had ordered Rice bowl, Nachos platter and smackers and all tasted great and filling too.. we could not finish the nachos platter though!..overall a nice place to make your tummy and eyes to make happy😅

We began with brisket nachos, beer and a cocktail. Wife had a Tex Mex Salad with shrimp and I had a pork rice bowl. Super fresh ingredients superbly prepared and expertly served. Waitress was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Outdoor seating overlooking the river priceless. Wish we could award more than five stars.

Sigh. I last came to Alex Bay 3 years ago. We had some time to kill and came to this restaurant, ordered a pitcher of Sangria and sat and looked over the bay that afternoon for a few hours. It was the best sangria I had ever had. I dreamt about it. Don't recall the food but that sangria....wow. So of course when we returned this year we came again. Same gorgeous view! But, no more pitchers of sangria. So I ordered a glass, or actually a plastic cup, of sangria. Sigh. Not the same at all. My husband had a margarita, they don't do frozen, and getting salt on a plastic cup rim was....interesting. Waiter was great, recommended the brisket. Had some trouble picking a meal because nothing really grabbed me. My husband had a brisket rice bowl, finished it and said it was ok. I had a brisket salad (brisket was awesome!) But it had little salad in it. The chips they stuck in the salad were from a store bought bag that tasted like they'd been out a bit. I didn't finish it but without the sangria I probably would have. We didn't stay for the view or more drinks because they weren't that great. Sigh. Too bad.

The tacos are awesome. Much larger than I expected. I had a chicken one and a brisket. The toppings were flavorful and worth the visit. Service was great. Nice view of the water from the upstairs deck

One of the best Tacos that I have eaten in awhile. I had chicken and it was packed full of veggies, and all kinds of good flavor. I might have been able to eat two, but it was for lunch, so it sufficed. Very friendly staff.

Bonnie Castle Resort & Marina is a waterfront retreat offering classic rooms and apartments, featuring two pools, restaurants, bars, and a marina. Despite some initial skepticism due to mixed reviews, the experience turned out to be quite positive. The front desk staff was friendly and accommodating. The rooms offer views of the castle and some even have jacuzzis in the bathrooms. While the property may seem dated, it has a charming old-world appeal.
We stayed at the marina - everything needed for boaters. Staff was friendly and helpful. Super busy gas dock but Parker handled it all with a smile. Had a very nice dinner at the restaurant in the hotel. Old school elegance, I feel that the restaurant is under appreciated. Bar staff and wait staff couldn’t have been better! Very attentive, pleasant, friendly and helpful. Our main waitress was Hannah who was such a pleasure! Shawn working the bar very knowledgeable about the local area, pleasant and friendly as well. Overall a great experience!

If you are able to book a room at another location, do not book this hotel. Their pictures online are misleading. The bed was horrible and noisy! The pool was 100 yards across a sketchy parking lot and the entire building looks like it was lost in time. Furniture is more than outdated and the chair in my room was absolutely filthy. The only positive about this place is the view across the river to Boldt Castle. My hotel room view was a boat yard. The hallways smelled of mold and some air freshener trying to disguise it.
Christina R — Google review
This establishment is in a great location with rooms facing the St. Lawrence River and Boldt Castle. The rooms, although dated, were very clean. The linens and towels were impeccable. The gal at the desk,Trudi, was very friendly and and super informative. She gave good directions around the motel grounds and the village. One thing I should point out is the balcony, which was only about 3 feet wide. True, the property could use some updates but all in all was pleasant.
Peter H — Google review
Rooms are outside, shower in the room was half repaired from previous cracks. Beds were fresh and clean but room and balcony had webs and spiders. very outdated, physical keys for doors instead of key cards. Lobby area had mini fridge and toaster but yet they didn't offer breakfast only coffee. Outdoor pool area was clean and in good shape, however the indoor pool needed cleaning and had hair floating around plus lots of paint chipping from the metal beams and ceiling above.
Austin C — Google review
Honest review, the people were VERY nice. Rooms were perfectly fine for a night or two but fixtures very dated and not well maintained/updated. Front desk advised that the exterior balcony door handles have a “push button” deadbolt handle and if keys are locked in they would have to use a “special key” to open the room. (Same locks you find on apartment doors). We all know that means a crow bar as evident on the door frame of our room. Indoor pool is heated but area is not cleaned with an excessive amount of visible wear and actual grime in tiles, dirt in the bottom of the pool, mildew on cushions, and actual rust on multiple surfaces. Ladies bathroom in pool area has creepy ceiling mirrors with the light switch on the wrong side of the door opening. Great view of Boldt Castle from balcony outside of excessively grimy wall to wall windows and a heavy and again grimy sliding glass door that was very hard to open. Might just be that it’s off/end of season being the summer but the reason we picked this resort was for the indoor pool. Again VERY nice people running this but this seemed to be something that was continually not maintained.
Candi S — Google review
Room was filthy! No chain lock or deadbolt to outside door. Staff was unhappy and rude, except for the manager who got involved when I wanted a refund. I checked out after spending one night of a 4 night stay. The mattresses and pillows were so uncomfortable that I was unable to sleep at all. It said "River view", but this is a stretch...I finally received a refund from the manager after showing her several pictures of my room. The entire property is not suitable for guests. I would not let my cat stay there! Please don't waste your money on this place!

9/11/25 my mother was physically assaulted by the bartender here. They were here dining at the Manor House restaurant. After waiting 45 minutes for salad to come out they got frustrated and asked what the delay was. The server brought the bartender out who proceeded to yell and film them(my mother and friends). For simply asking what’s taking 45 minutes for salad to come out? My mother asked them not to film them and the bartender grabbed my mother by the neck and hit her head on the wall. WHAT THE HELL?? What planet is this?

Off the beaten path
For day 2, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Wellesley Island State Park. Not quite as popular as Boldt Castle & Boldt Yacht House, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 8 hours.

Golf lovers can enjoy the 9-hole golf course within the park or explore nearby options like Thousand Islands Country Club.
5 Stars Wellesley Island State Park is amazing! The campsites are clean and spacious with beautiful river views. We loved the hiking trails, kayaking, and the nature center. The staff was friendly, and the facilities were well-maintained. Perfect spot for a relaxing getaway—highly recommend!

The campground was quiet and clean. Raccoons visited a few of the nights so it is important to put your food up or in the tent. Sites were all different sizes but generally spacious . Quiet time is observed after 10pm. Bathrooms were spacious and clean with 2 showers and 3 stalls. Minna Nature Center on the grounds was a great place to get closer to nature. Lots of places to ride bikes, wallk or hike .

The staff were very helpful when we were checking in. The site for the RVs was well appointed, however you are packed in really tightly with other campers. The camp is very family oriented with boat launches and bike trails. You can bring 2 dogs with you and the bathrooms are cleaned regularly in the morning. Happy camping!

The campsite are right on top of each other, I don’t like people that much! The beach area is small and Too regulated, my grandkids that are 3&5 And know how to swim and also had a floatie on, was told they could go pass the first rope , which Only went to their knees,(what 6 inches of water), how are they to have any fun scraping their stomach on the sand if they wanted to be even in the water (WTH),,without an adult which we were right there next to the water. Your rules are dumb, and you had a life guard on duty so what are They good for, just don’t have one!!

Clean facilities, sites. Camp store has lots of items you might have forgotten to pack. Stall was friendly and helpful But best of all are the other campers! And the view of the St Lawrence!
Kim R — Google review
A nice state park between the United States mainland and Canada. Coming on the island from either direction costs $4.00 for a car and $9.00 for a truck and trailer. It does not cost to leave the island in either direction. The Canadian border is about a five minute drive. The campground has primitive to full hook up sites. Loop F is the full hook up sites and there is no bathhouse. Most people bring their boats and leave them at the marina while leaving their boat trailers at the campsites. In Loop F, most sites are in the full sun and mostly level. There is a camp store selling ice and other necessities. The building with the store also has an arcade and laundry. There is also a public swimming beach.
The T — Google review
Listen, if you’re afraid or nervous around raccoons and skunks DO NOT TENT CAMP HERE!! We had to sleep in our car the second night because we spent the entire first night trying to get a colony of 5 raccoons to leave us alone!! We thought they wouldn’t come back the second night but oh my did they ever. I didn’t know raccoons could growl and be scary until this trip-greetings to my latest phobia due to this distressing stay! Also, tent sites are so close together your neighbors tent will be butted up against your picnic table. Note: we are seasoned campers, this was not our first rodeo around wildlife and we’re still alarmed by the amount of persistent raccoons.

The girl lifeguard, she called the border patrol of usa against me. she was maybe jealous that i was talking more to her friend... her friend stand up from the chair to show her ass and then a minute later a second time on the beach and then looked at me with a big smile. the one with brown hair long. . i just went say hello to her and asked a question. then the blond co worker came to talk to me to answer my question and started to talk to me long time. she was not on the chair. our co-worker was on watch on the chair. therefore i was not disturbing there on watch work. she was attracted by me. but i was not. if she was feeling unconfortable, she will not talk to me that long. i told them i am newcomer etc . the point is they are youngs and its not appropriate to call police on a customer if they feel unconfortable. you call your boss in that situation like any human been normal will do. i think she was jealous that i talked to her friend during our break after. she liked to talk to me very long time with me. then they told me about different cities that i can visit etc. . i gave my business card . then went back next day to quick swim then said hello from 50 feets away and told the brown hair girl, i was going to visit clayton. that said it is nice to visit. the third day which 2 days later, i cane again not long time to swim but did not talk to them. blond girl, instead to ask her superviser to come talk to me about make them feel unconfortable. she called border patrol that day. then the police today after i told her i will make a complaint to her supervisor and maybe the police. she was not stressed or not affraid of me at all. she told to state park police she was feeling unconfortable again. she lied. she was angry that i told her i will call police and report her to her supervisir. she make up a false story to justify to call the police. you don't call the police on a customer if the customer said that he will conplain to her supervisor against her and maybe call the police. the worse the police beleive her story. the fact are she was angry that i told her i am calling the police right now. and it was 4th time I go there and the supervisor told me if i am ok with my truck engine issue. he said he was not aware of the border patrol that came to visit me two days ago. to come back to that blond hair lifeguard . then i go swim and say hello to her. she ignored me with a smile in corner like she did not care of me. i said why are watching at the horizon, is there something wrong ? why are you ignoring me? then i said somebody called Border Patrol police two days ago she said yes we contacted border patrol police on me, she seem enjoy to ignore me with a smile and was very rude with me. like if she don't know me attitude. She has a job because there is customers that pay membership. she said to police because they was feeling not comfortable. ..her friend with brown hair that i was talking originally for the first time. like play game with mans.... then i went swim a minute and on my way back far from her, like 100 feets away, then i told her i will go complaint about her to the park supervisor and maybe police. then she call the police again on me again at the same time i was going to call 911. she was trying to cover up and make a false story to the police and supervisor of state park was behind the police pick ups. at the same time that i called 911. same police state park came to me after they talk to her boss and her (the one maybe jealous that i talked longer with her friend with brown hair) the police told me i did not commit a crime that i can go back to the beach etc. I talked to other lifegusrds on the beach in my life and in fact it was them they was keep continue to talk long time. the blond hair and broen hair girls know i just got my E2 Entrepreneur visa and it took me 14 months and $92,000 usd in investment to get approved. We are customers, you just need call your supervisor when you feel uncomfortable... I almost want a refund of my visa...

Our favorite stat park! Right by the River with decent sites right by or on the water with a great view. The electric sites go quick but tons of non-power sites. Shower house has always been clean too. Great playground and they also have a baptism launch. If you camp here be sure to check out Gals ice cream right down the road, best ice cream in town!

This park and camp has to be the cleanest one I have ever been to! I cannot say enough about this place! Even though there were dogs at every campsite around us but not once did I hear any of them barking in the middle of the night. I also love how small the park is. Every campsite is a premium site! There are no words for the sunset we had all three nights. I would recommend this park if you have small kids also. We will definitely be back!

I’m highly disappointed in this store and what it has become!!! More and more people don’t wanna work at this place!!! You put in for vacation time months in advance and get denied the vacation time. Meanwhile other managers and hire paid employees get their vacation time approved!! Having a full months notice is plenty of time to plan accordingly!!! To grant said vacation time!!! This store has no respect for employees family time or personal time!!! It pathetic

Sales are good, but everytime we shop we have a problem with items ringing up correctly. Items on sale with card dont ring up on sale . And the buy 2, must buy 2, is very dexeptive and in small print. Ex . Hamburger 3.99 today on sale marked 5.99 ,gentleman took it to the back room and was told it would ring up 3.99 with card at register ,it didnt. English muffins on sale but not all varities even though sign is in front of all Soda needs a rocket scientist to figure out exactly what is on sale. We live 25 miles away and have to drive back to correct problems almost weekly ,if we dont have time to go through the slip in the parking lot. Its hard to watch register and pack goods at the same time Suggestion use larger print on sales, and stop the deceptive advertising.

Cashier was unable to take my rewards points off my total. After 5 minutes, and refusing to ask for help she managed to add to my total and then ask for that amount. When I pointed out the total was more, not less, she snapped at me. I said I didn't think she should snap at me, again asking if she could ask for assistance. She snapped at me again. She finally asked another employee who fixed the problem in 20 seconds. I can understand not knowing how to do something, but to refuse to ask for help and then yell at the customer is unacceptable.

Clean and well stocked store. The deli and vegetable section had fresh product. The meals that are prepped at the store have a great taste. Signing up for their rewards program was quick, easy and free. I downloaded their app in the store and was able to collect points on my first purchase. I also liked how easy it was to clip the coupons on the app. The cashiers are nice and have excellent bagging skills! I've made it home without squashed bread and broken eggs. Cavallario's Steak & Seafood is a renowned restaurant located in Alexandria Bay, offering an upscale dining experience with stunning river views. Established in 1962, this establishment boasts a traditional American menu featuring steak, seafood, and Italian options within its castle-style exterior. The restaurant also prides itself on an extensive wine list to complement the exquisite dishes. Visitors have praised the delicious food and friendly customer service, making it a top choice for those seeking high-end dining experiences in the area.
This is our main place to dine when we go to ABay. We have tried most of the other restaurants in town in the many years we have been going to the islands and this is our constant we keep going back to and stick with every time. The atmosphere is great, the staff is attentive and friendly and always accommodating, and the food is always fantastic. After dinner we usually venture to the outside bar and listen to music. It’s a great time and one of our favorite places.

We stopped at Cavallario's on our last night in A-bay on October 4th. The restaurant was amazing, clean, welcoming and appropriately set for large or small dining parties. We were greeted and given our choice of inside or outside dining. We chose outside as it was still warm and there was live music being set up. For an appetizer we went with the French onion soup and Prime Rib, Provolone & Hot Pepper Crispy Rolls. Both were spectacular. We chose hard seltzer for our drinks. For the main course we went with the filet and the 14oz Rib eye. The steaks were tasty, but not exceptional. I chalk this up to it being the end of the season and they were running out of stock. For dessert we went with the only available option, carrot cake. Which while good was not what I had originally wanted. Overall, the service was exceptional, the food was good and the atmosphere was great. We'll be back next season to give them another try.

Another amazing visit to Cavallario’s, my must go to when visiting ABay! The ambiance alone is worth a visit! Both the outdoor bar and patio and indoor bar and restaurant area are trendy and give off the vibe of upscale dining. The knight from past eras still overseeing the indoor seating is reminiscent of earlier times for the establishment. I ordered the Steak Maison which was cooked to perfection of medium rare, the Bernaise sauce brings it up a notch with some crab shredded on top. Only the Alaskan crab topping was questionable as it was shredded and not the texture of authentic Alaskan crab but was still delicious. Mashed potatoes were scrumptious and fresh hot bread with butter. No dipping oil for the bread and salad is now a separate but with the cost of food rising and the economy in general that is understandable. Amazing food and great service at the bar! I stopped back Sunday and scored a high top on the patio with an amazing view of the stage. I ordered another favorite the prime rib, provolone, and pepper in an egg roll with a tangy, spicy dipping sauce! The patio is packed and service is slower but that’s what you would expect at the most popular restaurant in town! I hope to be back this season, I’m intrigued by the stuffed shrimp entree!

This was hands down the best dining experience we’ve ever had! We were staying near Pulaski and came up for dinner. The staff was awesome - shout to our waitress Joni and I believe Caleb was the young man’s name who was helping her out. They couldn’t have been more attentive and they made the experience even better. The drinks, the bread, the meals (prime rib, mashed potatoes, lobster tail). All unreal. As a side note, we have been once before. Last year on the very last day of the season. They didn’t have a lot of things (as expected and we were absolutely not upset nor disappointed!) but even then we were beyond impressed! So we knew going back last night that it would be even better. Truly amazing and we cannot wait to come back!

We had delicious meals. Properly cooked seafood and steak. Service was attentive. The dining rooms were nicely done, but cavernous. I imagine that if the house was full it would be very noisy.

I have dined at Cavallario’s in the 60’s,70’s, and 80’s obviously I missed a few decades because I was no longer in the military but nothing has changed except additional outdoor dining and bar. Our servers Holly and Mark were very nice and efficient and the food was excellent, can’t ask for more when dining away from home. Hopefully we can make a return trip next year!

Thanks for the added context. Here's a revised version of your review that reflects your past positive experiences but emphasizes how disappointing and dismissive this recent visit was: ⸻ ⭐☆☆☆☆ Disappointed and Dismissed at Cavallario’s, Alex Bay We’ve had good meals at Cavallario’s in the past, which makes this experience all the more frustrating. I informed the staff about a serious food allergy when ordering. The waitstaff was very apologetic that the chef did not pay attention to their notation. They offered to make another meal but the rest of the party was already eating and it would have taken another hour or so and I didn’t feel that the chef would pay attention to the allergy. What makes it worse is the woman manager just said that’s terrible and went on her way. Not even a glass of wine was comped. It felt like they couldn’t be bothered. Allergies are not optional. Hospitality isn’t either. After years of enjoying this place, I’m incredibly disappointed by how carelessly this was handled. ⸻

My husband and I were walking around Alexandria Bay and Cavallario's caught our attention because they had live music on their patio. We decided to stop for a drink and some light apps and to enjoy the music. The bar was pretty crowded, but there were two bartenders working. We ordered and waited a while for our drinks. I ordered the Island Girl cocktail. Our bartender kept chatting with other patrons instead of getting our drinks. I ordered a Caesar salad and my husband got the lobster tail app. They were good, but pretty small for the price. We were definitely expecting a bit more food. Overall, very underwhelming. We had to wait a long time for the check and in fact the other bartender who was much more efficient, ending up bringing it to us. The music was nice and the patio was a great place to relax and enjoy the music. I don't think I would come back for the food though.

Riverboat Bar and Restaurant is always one of our stops when visiting Alexandria Bay. I love the sailboat bar, it represents the Bay so well. It’s just a fun atmosphere! It seems every visit Megan is behind the bar, serving drinks and tending bar with a smile and always offering great recommendations! They frequently have live bands and are jamming. There is a sit down restaurant and outdoor that we have dined in as well. I ordered the Riverboat Burger on our second visit of the weekend. It was pink and juicy with Mayo, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and for a twist pineapple! Fries were seasoned well, I will definitely be ordering again! We will back!

Busy Saturday night and the hostess was great, beyond that was a disaster. Our mulleted server didn’t bring us straws with our drinks although all the other tables around us had them, nor silverware until after the appetizers were served and was like “oh you don’t have those.” I was very clear in my order as I needed to make a substitution due to medical reasons, he repeated it back to me and still brought me the wrong items. I asked for extra lemon for my fish and they gave me the end of the lemon with no fruit or juice in it(garbage) Our Well done burger was still raw and the medium rare burger was over done, the homemade potato chips tasted of the fish grease they were fried in. Over all more than half of our $140 bill was inedible and a disappointment with no offers of reconciliation and when our absent server finally brought me the correct item, a single French fry it was burnt so badly it wasn’t worth the wait, spent two hours and way too much money to still leave hungry. Told the people standing in line for a table not to waste their money. Now we know better.

Friendly service from the server and hostess. French onion soup was a big hit. Chicken cobb salad was plentiful. Brushetta garlic bread was very flavorful and a large order.( Didnt need the second garlic bread order ). Beer was cold and from NY breweries. Outisde deck seating was comfortable on a hot night. Would go back.

I got a burger and wings and both were very good. My buddy got chicken fingers and a lot of times those are good in general but these ones were much better than most other places. Took a little while to get the food but it was worth it.

Rated good from the folks in town. Had the fish n chips portions were very large. Food came out hot and yummy. Prices were not to crazy for a tourist stop type town and resturant. Plenty to see and do in the area as well. Pretty cool place. Service was very good as well.

JRECK Subs is a chain of casual sandwich shops that specialize in serving hot and cold submarine sandwiches, along with soups and salads. The staff at JRECK Subs are known for their exceptional knowledge and friendly service, providing an over-the-top experience from start to finish. Visitors rave about the delicious steak subs offered at the Alexandria Bay location, making it a must-visit spot in town.
JRECKS has delicious subs. They are not the biggest subs around, but the flavors are on spot. We have tried several locations and they are consistent. But our favorite is the Alex Bay location. The sub of choice is the Cheeseburger Sub, but tell them to add the toppings you want. We like adding the pepper relish and julienned pickle with lettuce and tomato here. The sub can be a little messy as the bread is not toasted but it is worth every bite. Get your napkins and enjoy the flavors of this food. Grab a drink and their sides for a great meal. #jrecksubs #sub #alexbay #thousandislands

The staff are very knowledgeable and they also give you an over-the-top experience your sub order or your food order from start to finish. What I really like about jreck Subs is that they stand behind their product they give you an excellent service and they're very friendly and very knowledgeable. If you haven't tried jreck subs today try it once guaranteed you'll be going back over and over again.

A rainy Wednesday at the end of August found my bride and I in Alex Bay. "Where to for lunch? Jrecks?" Our unanimous choice paid off with two very tasty whole subs: hers was the Turkey Bacon Ranch with mayo in place of the ranch dressing on a nice soft white roll, and mine was the Steak & Cheese with onions, green peppers and mushrooms on a whole wheat roll. Mmm-mmm, good! And so were the crispy French fries my wife ordered. I opted for original Wise potato chips. It's also nice to find a restaurant that serves Pepsi products from their drink fountain instead of Coke. Whole sub prices average $9.99 each, which we figure is a good deal for a meal. Today's lunch experience at Jrecks on Market Street in Alexandria Bay gets "4 thumbs-up" and 5-stars all the way!

Josie's Pizza in Alexandria Bay has been hailed as the best pizza spot in the area, with some even comparing it to the renowned New York style pizza. The thin crust is cooked to perfection and generously topped with cheese, making it a delightful treat for pizza enthusiasts. Despite its simple setup with street parking only and no indoor seating due to COVID, customers keep coming back for their delicious slices and affordable prices. It's definitely a must-visit for anyone craving a satisfying pizza experience.
Great spot to get a fresh pizza! Best around. The workers are very nice. They even cut up my 2 year olds pizza for us!

I have had pizza at mutiple places in the Alexandria Bay area and this is by far the best I've come across and the closest to the pizza that can be found in the WNY area. Pizza is excellent and far superior to any others in town. Shop is casual if not sparse and service seems to be better cooks than dealing with people. Big drawback is their cash only policy - though quaint, I'm sure is losing them alot of customers

Coleman's Dock of the Bay is a seafood restaurant in Alexandria Bay, NT, offering stunning views of the bay. The menu includes fresh local seafood, steak, and chicken dishes. The restaurant provides boat docking and easy car parking. Guests can enjoy outdoor seating with mostly covered areas even in iffy weather. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable about portion sizes and food combinations.
My husband and I visited during our vacation to Alexandria Bay. The location is wonderful, you can sit outside under a covered patio right next to the water. The service was great and they had nice drink specials. I had a spiked strawberry lemonade, which was very refreshing. The server was friendly and attentive. We had the yellow fin tuna appetizer which was spectacular. It may have been my favorite from our entire vacation! We split the Grilled Chicken and Walnut Salad and the BBQ Brisket. Everything was delicious and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend!

We showed up around 2pm on 7/2/25. The staff was odd. Asked for my ID AFTER my drink order. I showed her my ID but the interaction was off. The place was busy for the time and the staff was rushing around so I was told by the wife to order mojitos while she used the ladies room. So I order my wife two mojitos so she doesn’t have to wait for her first refill and I try to get myself a beer (I like to try her cocktails to review them). Our waitress responded to my order with “we are gonna need to see some IDs here”. Mind you: My wife was in the bathroom but the hostess sat us as a family of 4 and we walked right by our server. I guess she was implying I was ordering a drink for my kids!?!? Cmon Darlene. Maybe a 3 drink order is uncommon for you, but read the room. We were on vacation, with our 11 & 16 year old kids spending 200$ + at your restaurant, it’s not hard to be kind & courteous and help get what I would like without question. I asked for a beer list, she asked “if I wanted to hear what they had on tap?” No, no I don’t Darlene. I just want an ice cold beer plz. Preferably one out of a bottle, It’s 85 degrees, I’m sitting in the sun, and I’m getting no where with Darlene. Not even sure if I’m allowed to order a beer still, back comes Darlene for my 3rd attempt for a beer and she finally had our Mojitos in tow… by this time my wife is back so I’m thinking maybe this is my chance to order MY drink. Here’s my chance to get my “excessive” first beer… so I ask her “Do you have Heineken?” Nope. How about corona with a lime? She says “Now the corona we have!” Eureka!! The mojitos were good, bartender knew their way around the drink menu. Offered my wife a special blueberry drink at the end of service and she enjoyed that. I had 3 beers. 2 coronas and an accidental lite corona that I tried to drink but could only drink 1/2 of. Lite beer is gross to me. The food is hit or miss. Bang-Bang Shrimp was our highlight. Pretzel bites are greasy. The turkey club was a large portion. The salmon was covered in teriyaki sauce n ate OK. The bbq quesadilla came out with so much cheese the grease from it made it soggy and the meat was old. The fries were very gross. Mac and cheese was obviously a microwaved old batch, also a rough bite. The chips that came with the turkey sandwich were burnt. The seating was nice. It’s great fun to watch the boats come in and out and try to park. We had lots of drama to watch with one boat crashing into a dock and thinking a car was in the water only to realize it was a corvette floaty. Darlene did come around and gave me the light beer for free. Overall I’m trying somewhere new next time. This was our go to. It’s ok to have to move on. Lots of other spots to try. Just 2 stars. Down from a 4 last year.

Not impressed with this place at all. The whole family met up here for dinner. Not a single person enjoyed the food. My daughter and neice said the Mac and cheese was ice cold and definatly microwaved. My neice took a bite out of her taco and grease poured out of it. My son said that the brisket on his burger was not good and dry.My poutine with brisket was soggy and loaded with grease. My dad said his ribs were so dry he almost coughed up dust after chewing. Our waitress was very nice, no complaints with our server. The restaurant had a good vibe to it and was at a good location. If they can get the food straightened out this place would be a good place.

Good overall. Would go again. BBQ was quite good. BBQ ribs, brisket, chicken were well cooked and seasoned. Mac and cheese was excellent. Draft beers were served ice cold. Good service. We sat outside with a view of the marina under a cover out of the sun (it was a hot sunny day when we visited).
Michael A — Google review
I gave 3 stars just because the drinks were really bad. We ordered a mojito and a lemonade they were not even close to a mojito and a lemonade. Besides that the food was delicious. Smoke house burger and the teriyaki salmon were really good. Next I will order a beer to play safe😉

Even if the weather is iffy, sit out side! It is covered mostly. Only downside for us non smokers, there is smoking outdoors near the seating. Service was fantastic, food was amazing. Our server was very knowledgeable about portion size and combinations of what went well together. We didn't want a huge amount of food, we were pretty hungry but didn't want left overs as we weren't able to take them. We ordered the Lobster Mac (yes, get this!). This wasn't a huge portion, but was sufficient. The other meal we got was the brisket and bbq platter. It was huge! And delicious. For a side we chose mashed potatoes, came with corn bread. I really enjoyed the bbq and sauce. The only thing that didn't wow me was the horseradish sauce with the brisket. It was a little heavy on the sauce, light on the horseradish. The two meals together were more than plenty for two hungry adults to split.
Loveta G — Google review
This was a fun place right on the St. Lawrence river. It has boat docking available and easy car parking on the street… but take some quarters as the older style parking meters only take quarters. We had a nice lunch with Cam as our server. I had a tomato stuffed with Albacore tuna (I did ask for and was served it on a bed of Romaine instead of the mixed greens as advertised). It was very good! I also had some pretty tasty Mac and cheese. That was so good that we took an extra serving home as “take-out”. My lovely wife had the chicken sandwich with homemade chips. She said that it was good. It was a great stop. Reasonably priced.
Bill D — Google review
The prices are kind of high, but that's to be expected in a tourist town. I liked how it's near the St. Lawrence River and all of downtown Alexandria Bay. The burger was huge so my daughter and I shared. It was delicious and so were the fries.

Pizza restaurant
Korner Pizzeria & Family Restaurant is a casual, family-friendly spot that offers a variety of dishes including pizza, wings, wraps, and sandwiches in a relaxed setting. The pizzas are described as having good cheese and decent pepperoni with a rather bland sauce and heavy yeast-flavored crust. Customers appreciate the seasoned waffle fries and the option to pour their own fountain drinks. Despite its unassuming appearance, some visitors were pleasantly surprised by the fantastic food quality and hot servings.
Don’t listen to the neighbors—this place is a hidden gem! We were in Alex Bay on a Sunday and asked some nearby businesses where to get pizza. Surprisingly, everyone said not to go to the Korner Pizzeria. That felt a bit odd, especially since the Google reviews were telling a very different story. Thankfully, we decided to trust the ratings—and we’re so glad we did. The place was cozy, the staff was friendly, and most importantly, the pizza was delicious. Great flavor, fresh ingredients, and just an all-around solid experience. After eating, I had to stop and let them know how much we enjoyed it. They truly did a great job. Don’t let the local buzz sway you—Korner Pizzeria is definitely worth a visit!

Hands down the best pizza I’ve ever had! 🍕 We had a small hiccup with our order—the extra topping we requested was initially missed. But as soon as we brought it up, the staff went above and beyond: they gave us a larger pizza with all the right toppings and let us keep the first one at no extra charge. Truly A+ service! But let’s talk about the pizza. The dough is incredibly soft and chewy, and the cheese pulls just the way you dream of—perfectly melty and stringy. Pure comfort in every bite. A must go place in Alexandria Bay

I recently stayed in Alexandria Bay and got my first meal at Korner Pizza. I must say that it was rather excellent! The salad was fresh and flavorful and the pizza was perfectly baked and delicious. A month ago I had 2 pizzas with a friend at Sally's Apizza in New Haven, CT. The pizza I had at Korner Pizza was much better than the ones we had at Sally's. I realize that might sound sacrilegious to some, but I'm just being honest. Korner Pizza deserves a much higher rating than 4.0 IMO.

They don’t make them like this anymore. Attention to customer care is stellar. Not sure if this was the owner or an employee but he went out of his way. Absolutely impressive. The food was great and quick service too. So what did he do that was so special? I was ordering and asked for an unsweetened iced tea as the drinks fridge had like 5 types of Peak Tea. They were all out of the unsweet. No problem, I got a water cup. Lo and behold, we sit down, and the gentleman comes out with a cup of house made unsweetened tea from the bar next door. Felt like we were visiting a friend at home. That’s service! Give this small family owned business your support!

We really enjoyed our meal here. My family is picky about their pizza and we all liked what we got. The staff was super friendly and the prices were reasonable. It's a great value all around, we will definitely stop in the next time we are in town.

Ordered the chicken wing pizza. They claimed hot sauce was mixed in with blue cheese. If you like “hot” don’t even bother ordering. If you like mild ask for extra Frank’s to be mixed in. It was basically mozzarella, blue cheese and chicken. The outside table was sticky. Also the crushed red pepper shaker was filthy. It appeared to have been dropped upside down on a greasy cheese slice.

I think they were really busy when we stopped in, because there were a few misshapes with our order. Our pizza which was supposed to be half cheese half mushrooms had mushrooms on the whole thing, they replaced it with this tiny little pizza which didn't completely satisfy my 15 yos hunger, but they were really apologetic and got the replacement pizza to us very quickly, no cheese on our cedar salad and the chicken was very dry, when we asked for another dressing because we placed the request in our order it didn't come for a good while so I went to the front counter. No big deal, we've eaten there on past trips won't say that I won't go back, just might try a different place next time, but like I said maybe they were super busy, it was the week after 4th of July. I'd definitely say give it a try, the half sheet pizza that we got was delicious, and my husband devoured his wings! Garlic Parm!! Yum!! Nice and crispy!!

We have been to the Korner several times over the Summer and now into the off season. We got this medium double pepperoni to go and it was good, but the pizza is not terribly consistent every time. Different chefs end up with slightly different results on the pizza. And to go is not quite as impressive as the dine-in orders. But gotta say this is still over favorite pizza and wing place around Alex Bay.

Thank God the really nice lady at the booth let us change spots because the 1st one was absolutely horrible, no water front as stated all shade and dirt and it was on a very steep incline so not great to park a camper. The bathroom needs updating and to be cleaned more or at least have the water thingy on the wall near the sink, so people can actually wash down the floors and hooks would be nice so you can hang your shower bag up. And also the moron who came up with the idea of when showering at a campground if you push in the knob the water comes on for maybe 10 seconds wth how the heck can you shower like that that's irritating!! But that's like that at most campgrounds just annoying!! 😡.. and

What a fantastic State park! great camping, facilities are kept well. The large swimming pool and slide are a fan favorite in the summer and there are always things to do in the park and surrounding areas. On the banks of the St. Lawrence river makes for some nice evening walks.
Bill H — Google review
We were there for 5 nights and it got worse and worse. Started out fine on night one (pictured)...tight sites but not a big deal. Day 2 a multifamily group/party showed up at a site next to us...actually 3 sites next to us. As the week went on, the partiers and screaming kids got more plentiful and eventually took over the place. Had no idea where one site ended and another one started. Nobody seemed nasty or anything. Shared a few beers with some... Just a really weird camping environment as it never felt like camping.
Jeff K — Google review
I love this state park! Such a beautiful area to enjoy the waters edge. Has a large outdoor swimming pool. No beach area that I know of. Boat ramp and camping is plentiful. I did see dogs on leash.

I wish I would have known this place existed sooner… me and my family enjoyed coming to the pool on nice hot days.. It’s perfect for kids and adults. We will definitely be camping and enjoying this state park next year

Nice hike on well maintained trails. The map at the enterance is easy to understand and there are nice lake views. I am a plant nerd so enjoyed the diversity there. Overall nice scenic trails. The cattail loop could be improved but still give this 5 stars.

Very nice! This is great for hiking with dogs or children; we took our 2 pups & our toddler. The trails are really muddy when it has rained in the past few days but it's easy to get around those areas. Beautiful views all around!

A short pretty hike took about an hour to hike all the trails on the map Dog friendly 2/10 differently, there was some elevation gain No bathrooms

A good place for easy short hikes. Bring bug spray! We started the hike from Bridge trail and finished from Observation Tower. Can enjoy the nature and get some exercise.

Dark Island Spirits is a family-owned craft distillery located in Alexandria Bay, New York, at the heart of the Thousand Islands Area. Visitors praise its variety of in-house liquors and draft beers, as well as its large gift shop with maritime-themed decor. The friendly and knowledgeable staff offer tastings that include non-alcoholic options, making all guests feel welcome. Customers particularly enjoy the raspberry crush and grapefruit vodka while also appreciating the whiskey and bourbon selection.
Stopped in during Christmas in July. It was such a great experience we went back a couple of times diring our few days in the area. The staff was amazing the drinks were spectacular. We did a tasting flight as well and were actually taught the best way to properly do a tasting definitely changed the game. Can't wait to go back again to enjoy this establishment.
Kevin D — Google review
My wife and I stopped in this week and met one of the owners. He was very friendly and asked us if we knew how to properly taste bourbon or whisky? We did not so he shared with us proper way. We definitely enjoyed our time and experience with this distillery and left with over 100.00 dollars of product. Definitely returning
Jay F — Google review
This has become my new favorite distillery. I first ran across them at the Pulaski, NY farmers market, and tasted several samples and bought a couple of bottles there, then yesterday I was at their Distillery in Alex Bay, and they were just so nice letting us sample some before we made three more purchases. We had a nice conversation and what a relaxing atmosphere there. Then we just happened to be in Clayton and they were having a festival there, and dark Island Spirits had a tent setup and again allowed us to sample some more. Very friendly, and extremely accommodating. I will be back!
Wayne K — Google review
Visiting from NJ! We had a wonderful experience here. The staff and drinks were amazing! I had a few pineapple coconut slushy with their rum! Delicious! Will go back before we leave. Update: we went back for a second time and had another great experience. We will be back visiting next July will definitely be back to the distillery!

Absolutely awesome find and the perfect way to wile away a rainy afternoon in the Thousand Islands. Upscale spirits distilled on site, along with cocktails crafted with deft imagination and perfect execution. Dog friendly, warmly welcoming proprietors, all around super way to spend some time.
Gina S — Google review
It’s our favorite place to go in the Bay! Friendly and professional service. They are also very knowledgeable about their craft. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting Alexandria Bay!
John M — Google review
This great little distillery is dog-friendly and the spirits and cocktails are excellent. Gretchen and Mike make an excellent old fashioned. We bought 3 bottles to go after our afternoon there. Highly recommend!
Susan C — Google review
We had a nice time doing a tasting here! The staff was friendly. The raspberry crush was our favorite, and the grapefruit vodka was our second favorite. We had high hopes for the Citron, but it had a slightly soapy after taste. They whiskey/bourbon selecting was good, but there wasn’t anything I felt I needed to pick up. I would stop here if you’d like to relax! I hear a few people really enjoying the slushees too!

Located just south of the Thousand Island Bridge, the North Country Welcome Center is a must-visit stop in New York State. It offers an ideal location to rest and recharge when entering or leaving the United States for Canada. The center features clean facilities, including electric vehicle charging stations and well-maintained restrooms. Visitors can enjoy a children's play area, a dog park, and even a frog pond nearby.
CUTE little rest stop/welcome center right off I-81. Plenty of parking and ways to stretch your legs. There is electric car charging, dog park, play ground, clean bathrooms, a little cafe and a covered area for motorcycles. Oh, and also a large covered outside area. Certainly worth a stop to see what northern NY has to offer!

Living in NYS for 30 years and visited many info CTR around the state, North County Welcome Center is the best. It’s also the best among all the info centers I visited in the east coast.

This is a terrific welcoming point as you cross the border into the US. Very clean and neat. We took the dogs to their little dog park and they loved it. The staff are friendly and welcoming. This is a very happy place to stop when traveling. There is even a little hiking area.

I can’t say enough of the ladies who worked there. They were wonderful, was told we could park our camper vans in the far lot and if needed we could come and go into the building 24/7. Free WiFi and we could sit inside at the tables and have a bite to eat, from either something we bought there or from somewhere else. The coffee and food there was great. We came and went for a couple of days as we toured the area. We had a great cruise to one of the Castles in the area. It was great to stay here and feel safe.

Great place to stop with family. Was a perfect place to get some R&R before confirming our trip. There's a small playground that's fenced in so little ones don't run off. There's a small food and gift shop. There's indoor and outdoor seating to eat (your own food or a snack from the shop). Very nice clean bathrooms. The staff keeps everything clean, even collecting any trash around the property.

Perhaps The Best Welcome Center / Rest Area in New York State! Extremely clean and very beautiful. Ideal location to stop upon entering United States 🇺🇸 or leaving for Canada 🇨🇦. Exceptional children play area; EV charging for vehicles 🚗 and very clean restrooms. Interactive screens and maps provide quality information about Thousands Islands and Watertown, NY.
Haroon S — Google review
We stopped here for the EV charging and dog park. We drove 400+ miles and stayed in Alexandria Bay with our puppy. Its our first long drive with the EV and also the first time we have gone longer than an hour with our puppy. Being able to let her run around in the enclosed dog park while the car charged (within our eyesight) and while we got to stretch was wonderful.

Bar
Dockside Pub is a cozy sports bar and pub located in Alexandria Bay. The limited seating adds to its intimate atmosphere, and the friendly staff make visitors feel right at home. The menu features charbroiled burgers, daily specials, craft brews on tap, and delicious dishes like poutine and taco salad bowls. Guests have praised the attentive service and tasty food options such as flatbread pizza with red pepper and chicken, chicken sandwiches, onion rings, and Boss Burger.
Fun, upbeat atmosphere within walking distance of the hotel we were staying at. Great waitress! Pineapple margarita was amazing and the red pepper flatbread was also top notch. Poutine fries also the best we have ever had. 100% recommend for a nice place to stop in for drinks and yummy food.

Great food!!!! Great service,so fast and kind!! Would for sure recommend and would love to be back!
Nikki T — Google review
Reminds me of a corner bar long and narrow with seating for just over 30 people. Our server was also the bartender and she was pleasant. The food was good and it seems like a popular spot.
M. K — Google review
They say "drinking never fixes your problems." Not true had my brother and I not wanted a cold beer we would have never gotten our issue with our hotel room fixed. The wonderful young ladies at this bar knew the managers and were able to contact them. On top of that the food was great and the beer prices were superb. We returned the next night to a different crew and they were just as accommodating and kind. The staff here goes above and beyond. If you're stopping in A-bay please have at least 1 round here. If you have to pee watch your head though.
Ryan J — Google review
Nice lunch, friendly waitress. On top of refills and making sure we had a good time.
Peter L — Google review
After visiting for the first time, I will unfortunately not be returning. The wait staff was forgetful and not attentive. After waiting for our food order for almost an hour, the waitress returned and asked what we ordered only to realize she forgot to enter our order. Almost another 30 minutes later, we received our food. During that time our cocktail glasses sat empty without anyone asking if we would like a refill (granted they were busy). Our burgers were over cooked and dry (we ordered them medium well), they forgot the gravy for my fries and my kids buffalo chicken flatbread didn't appear to be or taste like buffalo chicken at all. Lastly, our water tasted like dish soap. At least the pineapple margarita was very good. And for what we ordered, it was pricey. I'm normally not super picky but this was a terrible experience.
Jason C — Google review
We found this little gem while exploring the town! It's a small bar but the food was excellent and the staff was helpful and attentive. We highly recommend this restaurant. The burger was so good🤤

Service was great, food good too. Really don't like the 3% charge built in for credit card. We paid cash and left before realizing we paid the CC price. Would rather see actual price and if we pay with cc, then add to bill. Don't charge upfront with no easy way know cash price.

Family restaurant
The North Star Family Restaurant is a charming spot that offers a delightful dining experience. Visitors are welcomed by beautiful river murals adorning the walls, creating a pleasant ambiance. The service is prompt and friendly, ensuring guests feel right at home. The menu features classic breakfast options such as Western omelets packed with savory fillings and waffles topped with fresh strawberries. While the restaurant has an old-fashioned charm, it maintains cleanliness and provides great service to its patrons.
We enjoyed Lunch over the weekend here at North Star. Added bacon to the Mushroom Swiss Burger and upgraded with onion rings. The burger had great texture and flavor. The Swiss cheese covered the mushrooms like a blanket, the romaine lettuce was crisp, tomato slices fresh and the bacon had crispy egg. The brioche bun was buttered, lightly grilled with the perfect edge of grill flavor that melted in the mouth when taking a big bite. To add more texture. We added onion rings to the sandwich rather than fresh onion and that took this burger to another level. We did note that the onion rings were over cooked but did not have a burnt flavor as expected based on the look of the onion rings. We did also try the new batch of lobster bisque and it was some of the best bisque flavor we have had in the thousand island region. The Lobster bisque is a must try while they have limited ingredients. We suggest ordering toast with the bisque to give a good side and a way to clean up your cup or bowl to get every last bite possible. Though we like the breakfast here, we are going to come back for lunch as we really enjoyed our time, the service and our food!

I can see why this place is packed during peak hours. We try to get here before the crowd.Very early!! food is great and portions are so large people who have more slight appetites can divide 1 meal between them.We did it one day with the pancakes and one day with the omelette and toast. If you ate everything you'd gain 5 lbs a day!! They had someone paint beautiful soothing murals representing the St. Lawrence river life on all the wslls.I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! Very nice vibe.
SHARON K — Google review
Good food at good prices. A little hard to find if you follow your gps. Actually it's very easy to find. Haley our server was very attentive. The wife insists we go back tomorrow. That's an endorsement in itself.
Peter H — Google review
Excellent customer service with really quick food service and great tasting food. The American cheese and bacon omelette was three eggs and was cooked perfectly. The coffee was refilled and was quality coffee.
J — Google review
Such a cute place. Our breakfast was fast and tasty. Really good pancakes and the murals were amazing.
M S — Google review
We stopped in for an early breakfast after an overnight stay in the Bay. Our hotel restaurant was closed, so we set out on a blind search. North Star was the first place we came upon that was open. We were lucky to find it. We were immediately impressed by the beautiful river murals that adorned the walls. We slid into a booth and were quickly served fresh, hot coffee. I ordered the Western omelet with rye toast. The omelet was chock full of diced ham, red and green peppers, onions and cheese. Every bite was savory. The toast was yummy as well. My friend ordered the broccoli scramble, which is scrambled eggs with broccoli and homemade cheese sauce, served over home fries. This came with toast, and he chose cinnamon raisin. Portions were generous, prices were fair and service was friendly. I definitely recommend this restaurant!

*****STAY AWAY**** If I could give minus zero stars I would. Absolutely positively the worst food I have ever had and believe me I have had plenty. First of all, this is 2025 and LOTS of people have food allergies so get with the times….or maybe you don’t understand. When I asked for a milk alternative, I was offered 2% milk…..seriously????? I ordered oatmeal and home fries. The oatmeal…. I wasn’t quite sure what she wanted me to do with it - use it as spackle or hang wallpaper with it. Completely inedible….it must have been sitting in the pan since Friday and it was just like cement. And the home fries…..loaded with grease and totally disgusting. They were sitting in a puddle of grease. The experience in your establishment landed me in the bathroom for most of the afternoon. Oh, and don’t let me forget the filthy bathroom! I felt like I needed a shower after using it. The health inspector needs to pay you a visit. I may make that call. Thank you for the experience and never again! Like I said…STAY AWAY!!!!!!

The place has a cozy, homey feel that makes it perfect for enjoying a delicious breakfast or relaxing with a fresh cup of coffee. Highly recommend this cute little restaurant! I can't rave enough about how good the food is. So delicious! The portions are huge and prices are very reasonable. The employees were warm, welcoming and incredibly friendly. We will 💯 % go back over and over every time we are in the area!

First time here and they treated me like a regular. The food comes in big portions for what you’re paying—great value. There’s a bar-style seating area, and the place is filled with beautiful wood artwork that gives it a cozy, welcoming feel.

This is the best breakfast we’ve had so far. We love to try small independent restaurants. We do no research beforehand. We see a place randomly and stop in. The food was so good, cooked perfectly. My husband always tries the biscuits and gravy and he was in heaven. I tried the breakfast sandwich and it was really good. I also asked for a slice of French toast and the outside was just a little crispy while the inside was moist and sucked up the syrup. We always save some bacon for our 3 dogs and I’m glad my fingers are still attached - LOL. Seriously, I’d eat here everyday if I lived here. Sorry, the staff was very friendly and attentive. They all seemed happy to work there.

The pancakes are great. The country fried steak is really good and don’t forget to order bacon with your home fries. And I should of asked for me gravy to smother my plate of eggs and home fries with the steak. Wolfes is our favorite breakfast spot off NY-12.

Great breakfast! This was the second time coming here after 4 years for our wedding anniversary. Got the same item (Country fried steak with eggs, homestyle potatoes and biscuit smothered in sausage gravy) and it was so delicious. And it was as delicous as the first time we got it. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants to get a delicious breakfast in alex bay. The people working here are fantastic and will greet you when you come in.
