Nestled in the charming town of Thurmont, Maryland, Mountain Gate Family Restaurant has been a beloved dining establishment for over three decades. This spacious family-friendly venue offers an inviting buffet alongside a full menu that showcases hearty American country cuisine. The McCleaf family envisioned creating a warm atmosphere where families could gather to enjoy quality meals at affordable prices. Renowned for its homemade dishes and freshly baked goods, Mountain Gate also features unique gift shops and large banquet rooms perfect for special occasions.
Wonderful atmosphere! Celebrated my mom's 78th bday here! The staff is very delightful. Food is delicious and cooked upon ordering. They have a buffet bar; salad bar; dessert bar
Toni — Google review
The food was questionable, the sliders tasted absolutely awful, the pretzel bites were extremely salty, the tater tots were greasy too. The cheesecake was sticky and the red velvet cake was dry and the frosting has a sour aftertaste. The Mac n cheese was store bought and you could see the box just sitting it the trashcan. The drinks were watered down and the ketchup was sour. The chefs weren’t wearing hair nets and the atmosphere was odd.
Axel N — Google review
Good food, great customer service. It has a nice down home feeling and everyone is really friendly! The ice cream was a perfect finish to a good meal. 5 star experience all around!
Natalya R — Google review
What a wonderful dining experience. Our server was amazing and the food was delicious. We browsed through the gift shop before exiting and came home with some nice gifts. We look forward to our next visit.

This place is great!! Whenever my family is in Thurmont, we almost always end up here. We get the buffet every time we come, and it’s pretty good. The service is amazing, especially from Bridget. The last two times we’ve gone she’s waited our table, and has done an incredible job doing so. Has a kind smile on her face, polite tone, and she’s complemented me many times. The atmosphere of this place is very pleasant. If I had to put it into words, it’d be the feeling you get when you go to a restaurant you always used to go to as a kid with your family.
Selena R — Google review
Highly do NOT recommend. Wish we’d read the reviews before walking in and should have listened to our instinct and left before ordering but we were traveling and hungry for something other than fast food. We decided on the buffet but the only warm item was the yams. Mashed potatoes and gravy, buffalo chicken, mac n cheese, green beans and lima beans were cold. The fried chicken was also cold and beyond dry as was the salmon. The seafood chowder was somewhat curdled from sitting for so long, don’t know its warmth as it looked very unappealing. We thought maybe the pies would be somewhat redeeming but the pumpkin and peach pies were very cold and clearly mass produced, frozen and then thawed. Pies from Food Lion are much better than these. We left a lot of food uneaten and let the server know our dissatisfaction. He said he’d let the manager know but no one came to speak with us. Of the two cashiers checking people out only the young man made any attempt to be pleasant. The young lady glared and ignored us. Still unable to speak with a manager we just paid the bill to get out of there. $52 for two people for a terrible buffet. Save yourself the terrible experience and head to the Taco Bell, KFC or Burger King down the street.
Carrie E — Google review
After 30 years of my family going to Mountain Gate, there's a reason we keep coming back. Good food (always buy the buffet! you won't regret it). Service is good, accomadations (tables, booths, and special even seating). This is a country atmosphere, very relaxed and seniors & kids are especially welcome.
Sc S — Google review
Menu prices skyrocketed high since the last time I was there. For the AYCE buffet you’re looking at around $30 a person without drinks and tip. Chicken was dry, pie was not up to quality as it was before. To be honest I was excited for their pie and chicken the most, but instead of homemade quality with the pie, it tasted as if it was made from can ingredients or premade now. Kind of disappointed with the quality for the price this visit.

Such a nice little park. It had a cool playground with a lion water fountain. A walking trail. Picnic areas. Another playground area. Basketball courts. Such a great place.
Ashley H — Google review
Nice park. Love that the front playground is gate enclosed. Big plus for parents of little ones. The walking path was beautiful and kept clean. Like the exercise equipment available on the path for public use. Parking was easy and shaded in areas. Another bonus for summer visits.
Amber W — Google review
A great park for children to run and play. I appreciate how the toddler park is fenced in, which gives the kids an area to run around in and parents don't have to worry about their child running/wandering off.
David G — Google review
This place is lovely. Large enough to take a jog or stroll. 1 of the playgrounds is fenced in so little ones are safe and parents are given benches to sit and watch. The kids loved the Lion head water fountain. Clean bathrooms, basketball courts, tons of pavilions. Very nice place to bring the whole family. They even have a free library box with somthing for all ages!
Vintage K — Google review
Beautiful park near the center of Thurmont. Plenty of shade to stay cool, but if you love sun, there's plenty of that too. The main park in Thurmont, it has several rental pavilions, first-come first-serve grills and picnic tables, and multiple playgrounds for the kids, as well as a fitness trail.
Pete G — Google review
A nice quiet peaceful place to be. The falls doesn't have much water in the summer. That's about normal around here.
Don S — Google review
Lovely peaceful park that livens up with weekly summer farmers market.

This preserve was a wonderful surprise! I didn’t have high expectations going in, but it turned out to be such a blast. It was much bigger than I expected, with a great variety of animals. The butterfly garden was absolutely beautiful, definitely one of my favorites. The koi fish pond was also stunning. My son had a blast watching the fish splash around and feeding them. The grounds were very clean, with plenty of benches and bathrooms throughout. The gift shop was also really nice. Overall, it was definitely worth the price!

An Amazing Day at Catoctin Wildlife Preserve! Our visit to Catoctin Wildlife Preserve was nothing short of fantastic! The variety of animals was incredible—from exotic big cats and playful monkeys to the most adorable lemurs and kangaroos. The enclosures were well-kept, and it’s clear the staff truly care about the animals’ well-being. We especially loved the safari ride—it was such a unique experience to get up close and even feed some of the animals right from the vehicle. The staff and tour guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate, making the whole experience even better. The preserve is very family-friendly, with plenty of shaded areas, clean restrooms, and picnic spots. It’s a perfect mix of education and fun, and we left with so many great memories and photos. If you’re looking for an unforgettable wildlife adventure that’s close to home but feels like a world away, Catoctin Wildlife Preserve is a must-visit. We can’t wait to come back!

This is a really fun & family friendly experience if you’re looking for something fun to do with the kids. My son loved it here, but I’d recommend coming on a day when it’s not too busy as it can get quite crowded at times. Also, It’s pricey but worth it! This was my second time coming, I packed our lunches this time around but they do have food trucks and other accommodations too. Be ready for a lot of walking and plan ahead of time. Good parking, handicap accessible, numerous bathrooms, kind employees, and beautiful animals to see. I’d definitely come again to this hidden gem.
Brittany S — Google review
Tried this place with the family. Very nice mix of animals, nice layout. Plenty of opportunities to feed some animals there. I would recommend it to any animal loving group to visit. Items in the gift shop are actually reasonably priced, I couldn't believe it. The attendant Erin who was working the gift shop was very pleasant and I hope this place is happy to have her. -Axolotl, who knew 😁
Michael C — Google review
What a fun surprise! A large variety of birds, monkeys and other small mammals. Lots of tortoises, also zebras, lions, bears. We loved it! It was way larger than we expected for the price. The individual animal habitats were larger than I’ve seen in big zoos, and we were able to be up close. We loved the shaded walkways and landscape. There were several buildings that looked like they were under construction, but it did not deter from the aesthetic. Many benches and picnic tables. “Real” bathrooms near the gift shop and portables scattered throughout. No grandkids this trip but they would love it! There is a safari ride for an additional fee, which we did not try.
Nancy M — Google review
Our local zoo for all ages. Our kids love to explore and feed the Koi fish as well as the goats. Plenty of places to sit and relax. Wish they had a zoo nights program for kids to camp, tour and listen to the night sounds.
Alex G — Google review
Beautiful setup, friendly staff and lots of animals that we didn't expect to be here. Black panther or Black Jaguar was a total surprise. Kids loved their hour long safari ride with feeding experience and was totally worth it. Good job !!

We loved having our wedding at Springfield Manor. All our guests could not stop raving about how gorgeous the venue was. The outdoor ceremony space offers stunning views of the mountains and the indoor reception area was bright, airy and felt very classy. The bonus about booking this venue was being able to work with Loree and Brian. They were so helpful and responsive to all our questions during the planning process. The day of the wedding, Brian assisted in day or coordination. He was so helpful, accommodating and made sure that we had all we needed. I couldn’t ask for a better experience. I highly recommend!

We had our wedding at Springfield Manor, and it was absolutely perfect! The venue is breathtaking, every spot feels like it’s straight out of a postcard. Our guests couldn’t stop complimenting the scenery! Brian and Loree were incredibly organized and accommodating, making the entire planning process stress-free. On the day of the wedding, everything ran so smoothly thanks to their attention to detail and professionalism. We couldn’t have imagined a better place to celebrate our day. Springfield Manor truly exceeded our expectations in every way. Highly recommend to any couple looking for a stunning and seamless wedding experience!

I recently had my wedding at Springfield Manor and everything was amazing! Brian and Laurie were so helpful with everything. The wedding ran smooth and Brian and Laurie definitely care of you! They made sure to have the cocktail hour appetizers set aside in a room for the bridal party before we went to take more pictures and Brian was always asking if we needed anything. The food was delicious as well! The venue is stunning and the day could not have been better! Highly recommend looking at Springfield Manor for a wedding venue!!

100/10. We got engaged on 10/22/2023 and went to check out Springfield Manor the next weekend. We met with Brian, toured the venue, and immediately booked our 10/11/2025 wedding date. Brian and Loree are an amazing pair to work with. They were so quick to respond to any questions we had leading up to the day and played a very active role in us having the wedding of our dreams. Brian checked in with us throughout the day making sure we ate, hydrated, and made us feel so relaxed and at ease. Your venue is such an important piece of your wedding day, but it’s more than just a location. Springfield Manor is gorgeous, but you get to work with some of the kindest people who are definitely some of the best in the business.

Springfield Manor is an incredibly beautiful venue to host a wedding! The ballroom is open and spacious, and the outdoor area, with plenty of seating and a bar, was perfect for the ceremony, cocktails and a place for guests to sit after dinner. Springfield Manor is an exceptional value without compromising on elegance or quality. As the mother of the bride, I can’t thank Brian and Loree enough for their role in making the day so special. I absolutely LOVED working with them! We had a wonderful experience from start to finish; they’re easy to work with and a lot of fun! I’m grateful they made sure everything ran smoothly and helped create an unforgettable day for my daughter and son-in-law. I highly recommend Springfield Manor and this amazing team to anyone planning a wedding!

Our wedding at this venue was absolutely amazing! From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations. The space itself was beautiful, and the team made sure every detail was perfect. What really made the experience stand out were Brian and Loree. They are truly the best people to work with—professional, attentive, and incredibly kind. They went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly, and their support made the whole process stress-free and enjoyable. We couldn’t have asked for a better place or better people to be part of our special day. Highly recommend!
Alejandra M — Google review
Beautiful wedding venue. Outside patio, bar, and fountain area out back is a great cocktail hour set up. Views for ceremony was great. Inside, the dining area and dance floor area was very spacious. Brian helped us the entire wedding to make sure we were in the right spots, and we were on time. Highly recommend getting married here.
Mason B — Google review
My son and daughter-in-law were married at Springfield Manor this past weekend. The venue is beautiful, the gentleman (Brian) who runs the events was accommodating and wonderful to work with, and the staff was fantastic! The mountain backdrop for the ceremony was GORGEOUS and the amenities were great! I would recommend this venue for your son or daughter's wedding!

Coffee shop
Dunkin' is a beloved chain known for its signature breakfast offerings and an impressive array of coffee beverages. During my recent visit, I found the shop to be impeccably clean, with a vibrant atmosphere thanks to Halloween decorations. The staff was incredibly friendly and efficient, ensuring that even during busy hours, customers were served promptly with smiles all around. I placed a mobile order for their $6 special and was pleasantly surprised to find it ready for pickup just 15 minutes later.
Clean Dunkin Donuts shop with a super friendly staff. Store was very busy. The staff worked quickly and efficiently waiting all everybody with a smile. Our coffees were hot , fresh and made as ordered. Store can be a little tricky to get in and out of due to the other shops near it and so many people using the drive- thru.
Auguste — Google review
Made mobile order of the $6 special on app. Arrived after 15 minutes, and the order was waiting on the pickup counter. The store had Halloween themed decorations. The coffee was warm as usual. The bagel sandwich had all ingredients ordered. The hash browns were still crispy.
Adam L — Google review
Just went through the drive-thru. I'm very disappointed. I go to dunkin' on a daily basis as a previous employee of Dunkin '. I understand the companies wants and needs For the company such as product waste etc. . However, I requested a drink with no ice. I then got told that I was not allowed to not have no ice. They refused to make me my drink with no ice charge me an extra dollar for my drink. Me and the manager had a 2-minute debate on why she was right and why she wasn't allowed to not give me no ice. I have sensitive teeth. There is a reason why I do not like ice in my drinks. It hurts my teeth therefore causing me pain. For the manager to blatantly tell me that she was not going to give me no ice because of a meeting that she just had with corporate on her not being allowed to give people no ice in their drinks is beyond insane. This woman should be fired should not be allowed to run a business. And then to put her employees through a situation on which they are forced to abide by.
HQ — Google review
No customer service at all. Not even a simple “I’ll be with you in a moment,” “Sir,” “Ma’am,” “please,” or “thank you.” They also got my order wrong. It’s sad because I know they’re working hard, but experiences like this are why I’d rather wait a few extra minutes and go to McDonald’s or Chick-fil-A instead. I just wish they would bring back the customer service tag lines — we all know America runs on Dunkin’, but right now it feels like we’re not running at all.
Tommy K — Google review
The service is wonderful and quick! I especially like Phoenix! She is always very friendly when I am there! Any store would be lucky to have her!!!

Always a good experience. Love the staff. Phoenix is my favorite. They work fast to make sure you get through the lines quickly!
JESSICA M — Google review
I ordered egg and cheese bagel. It was the worst bagel in my life. Normally Dunkin’s has standard quality, this store franchise must be cancelled and transfer to the right people who doesn’t lower brand name of Dunkin. I returned the bagels back and didn’t accept the new bagels because I value my health. Anyway it was disgusting experience for me this morning.

This place is a hidden GEM! Tonight was our first time there and we will absolutely be back! The food, the service, and the atmosphere was all worthy of 10 stars! Giving them a five star review because I don't get an option for more! My husband got the burger of the week, the "Garfield burger " which included a slice of lasagna on the burger along with the many other toppings! I got the Monte Cristo and it was equally delicious. The crab pasta salad was phenomenal!

Apr 2025. Just like the name implies you would expect sandwiches, burgers, wraps, breakfast. I had the junkyard burger and we also had a tuna melt with sweet potato fries. They also serve up pies and other desserts. The dining area was updated with barn motifs. They were well staffed. Some of the tight flow out of the kitchen made the waitresses bump into out the back of our chairs constantly. I rate the food as 7/10. It’s worth checking out.

Great diner just off Rt 15 in Thurmont, MD. My husband and I both ordered Reubens. His with rye bread, mine with sour dough. The bread was perfectly grilled, nice amount of meat, cheese, sauerkraut and Thousand Island dressing. The crab pasta salad was creamy with a touch of Old Bay seasoning.

I wish i had taken pics of the food. It was legit SO good I gobbled it down so fast!! I ate THE BEST fried shrimp in have ever had!! And the fried fish was delicious too!! We got a bunch of desserts to go home so not sure but I'm sure they will be amazing!! The young Waitress was super sweet and helpful!!

This is definitely a hidden gem, of you pass through here definitely stop for food and if you live here chances are that you're a regular already. The chease steak was VERY good and the rice crispy treat was more like a rice crispy brick, it was huge! And it was very good. Service was great and it was unusually quiet and packed but it was quiet because the food was so good everyone was eating. Then more people cycled through and it got louder. You can literally judge the taste of the food by the silence. AMAZING! 🤯

Seafood restaurant
Restaurant
Nestled conveniently near Cunningham Falls State Park in Maryland, The Furnace Grill and Crab House is a delightful stop for anyone looking to enjoy a satisfying meal after a day of outdoor adventures. With its spacious dining area designed in a cozy coastal style, this eatery offers ample parking and an inviting outdoor patio for those who prefer al fresco dining. While seafood takes center stage—especially their renowned crabs—the menu also features mouthwatering burgers, wings, and sandwiches that cater to diverse tastes.
Best place around for a great meal. While they specialize in seafood, mainly crabs, their menu offers some excellent choices such as burgers, wings, and sandwiches. They also offer a great dessert select and craft beers on tap. The beers are rotated regularly so it is worth stopping in regularly to see what is on tap. Beer prices are extremely reasonable and they often offer a$1 drink special.

The food was delicious, fresh and good quality. The location is very convenient, not too far from the Cunningham Fall State Park, MD and next to the main road It is a good choice for anyone wants to visit and enjoy your day at the park. This place has a spacious dining room that is simply furnished with coastal or bungalow style room, also there is lot of parking spot outside with outdoor patio seating is available. p.s. When I was there, I was waiting for food a little long time, maybe it was because they just opened, anyway it is not a big deal for me, and the waitress service was fine.

Surprised at how good the food was and the portions! Friendly staff. 1st time customer... will be back to try the crabs with some family and friends. The pretzel and crab appetizer was delicious! I had crab cakes (lots of crab) and my BIL had the Chesapeake burger... he said his was really good as well.

We loved this place! I mean it’s nothing super fancy or anything but the atmosphere and food is exactly what you’d expect. If you’re familiar with this area I’d call it a redneck Dutches. Like how your favorite aunt in Thurmont, MD, might cook fine Dutches dishes. That’s not a slam. It’s great good food and great drinks. We will 100% return. My only suggestion is to just go ahead and order the all you can eat hard shell crabs cause EVERYONE else will be and if you order anything else it might take a little time to get ready. Worth the wait though.
Thomas D — Google review
We came here as a party of 5. We ordered two kids meals and two entrees. The entrees took forever to come out, well over 45 minutes. It wasn't exactly crowded, so I really have no clue as to why the food took so long. We eneded up just telling them to cancel our entrees. I've never had to do that before. I will say, that they made sure their other customers were happy and fed. I would never recommend this place or come back.
Kells C — Google review
1 hour and 11min in and food had still not arrived. Server Matty/Mattie was okay and very nice but I don't think she was comfortable or knew how the handle the situation of the horribly timed food. Nothing came out in a timely or requested fashion and no one had a real answer or explaination as to the hold up. We ended up just canceling the 2 entrees that hadn't yet arrived and decided to go elsewhere. My wife was very upset but kept her cool. I'm proud of her. The gentlemen next to us praised us for not throwing a fuss, they said "they would've". Me as a GM of a restaurant that is #1 in the northeast region, let me tell ya this place could use some "help".
Michael C — Google review
This is the second time I have been here this year. The first time it took 20 minutes to get an appetizer and 50 minutes to get a steak and cheese sub. There were only 7 people in the restaurant. This time went with a larger group. We had to cancel 3 orders because we didn't get them, meanwhile 5 other tables got similar orders that we had ordered. It took an hour and 15 minutes before we even got our food. I would not recommend this place at all. it was in July and the temperature in the building was at least 85°. This is completely a LACK OF PROPER MANAGEMENT!!

Catoctin Mountain Park is a beautiful place to visit, even when the weather is challenging. I recently hiked there, and while the snow-covered trails were stunning, they were also very slippery, which made descending particularly difficult. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear and take your time. Despite the challenges, the winter scenery was worth it—blanketed in snow, the park looked like a winter wonderland. If you're up for an adventure and don't mind a bit of a challenge, it's definitely worth a visit. Just be prepared for the conditions!

Catoctin Mountain Park is a great place for hiking and spending time in nature. There are plenty of trails for all levels — from easy walks to more challenging routes. There’s a clear map at the entrance showing all the trails, which makes it easy to plan your hike. The park is peaceful, well-maintained, and full of scenic views. Definitely one of the best trail systems I’ve seen recently.

Awesome park to take your pup out for “A Walk in the Woods.” Paisley (dog) and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves doing the Yellow Blaze Trail which was I think roughly 5 miles after crossing the roadway off trail to see the Cunningham Falls. You should definitely visit it if you’re doing this trail! Also, Hog Rock and Blue Ridge Summit Vista have pretty views along the way. :-) Not a difficult trail and is great for couples, families, and pup walks! :-) Happy Trails.

What a way to spend a Sunday morning! We are National Park buffs and love visiting as many as we can. Did not realize the importance of this area to the early way of life. Rangers very friendly and helpful. Store well stocked and the most important thing is it was so clean!
Frances C — Google review
Great areas to hike, beautiful wildlife, birds, etc. We went to Cunningham Falls, and despite the signs all over to stay off the rocks, and don't swim in the water, there were dozens of people - families with LITTLE KIDS - INFANTS - climbing up the falls and swimming in the water. They'll be the first to complain if someone get sick or injured. Other than the lawbreakers, we had a great time. We even saw a Garter snake! (NOT a "gardener snake" as someone pointed out...) We also saw a tree that had apparently been clawed at by probably a black bear. I would love for someone to verify that in my picture!

Catoctin Mountain Park, located in northern Maryland near the town of Thurmont, is a gem for nature lovers, hikers, and history enthusiasts. Managed by the National Park Service, it offers a peaceful escape with a mix of scenic vistas, rich history, and well-maintained trails. The park has a few primitive campsites and rustic cabins, especially at the Camp Misty Mount historic district, which dates back to the New Deal era. There are restrooms, picnic areas, and some parking lots, though they can fill up on weekends. No RV hookups or large campgrounds—this is more a day-use and primitive camping destination. Must visit park for camping and hiking.

Parking can be limiting but overall a great place to hike. Terrain is loose rocks so dress accordingly. Good for dogs but bring plenty of water and be prepared for steep inclines and possible snakes.

Visited 8.13.22 Stopped here on the way to Cunningham Falls. Place is nice but very small with like a few tables of peaches, apples, some green beans and some local honey and preserves. Staff could use some customer service skills. Not much selection.
S.M. — Google review
Horrible customer service!! They mix bad and good peaches together. Only 4 peaches for $6 and I still got a bad one after I switched couple good ones. The staff was rude and accused me taken an extra one from another basket. I just switched bad ones but didn’t take extra. Because they have some are 4 and some are 5 in the container. I don’t want to argue with stupid things so I had to put one back. But I would never want to go back!

Glad to find quinces over there. I haven’t seen much quince tree in the area. Although they have been picked early and they were green but smells was so good. I make quince stew , quince jam and dessert. I will definitely go back next year for quince and other products.

10Tavern is a charming find in the local area, offering amazing food that rivals what you'd find in Ashburn. While some may consider it pricey, the experience justifies the cost. The lamb burger and bistro are highlights, along with stellar dishes like the crab dip and salmon burger. The cheese steak and ahi tuna also receive high praise. Despite a short menu, each item is executed magnificently, especially the burgers and wings.
Real nice resturant, if a little small. Was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere. The resturant was filled with families with children despite it being a pub. The food was great, I got a BBQ Mac and Cheese burger, and it was quite good. The French Fries might be the best I've had from a small establishment.

Me and my wife stopped by this place for the first time and we were amazed by how delicious the burgers were. We're ordered a double smash with season fries and a Single patty burger with Sweet potato fries. We are happy with our food especially the fries. Love the atmosphere and got to watch a baseball game on the TV screen. Definitely recommend this restaurant/pub. Will be back.

The salmon burger is out of this world. It is soft, crunchy, spicy, decadent and makes an amazing flavor bomb! Every burger so far has been delicous. Tonight my husband tried the cheese steak and he said it was one of the best he has ever had. Oh and the ahi tuna is mouth watering🤤The service was also top notch even though they were verybust! Go give this chef and the rest of the team some love, they deserve it!

Well made American food! Options for everyone. Huge selection of beer and liquor as well. We ordered a turkey burger, a regular burger, the Reuben, and a grilled chicken salad. Mexican restaurant
Los Amigos Mexican Restaurant in Thurmont is a delightful spot for those craving authentic Mexican cuisine. With a menu featuring tacos, burritos, and traditional favorites, it offers a casual atmosphere perfect for family meals or quick bites. While many have enjoyed their offerings in the past, recent experiences suggest some inconsistency with appetizers and entrees. Diners can savor classic flavors amidst a relaxed setting that invites you to unwind while enjoying your meal.
From the moment we walked in, the warm and festive atmosphere made us feel welcome. The staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve. The menu offers a perfect balance of traditional favorites and unique house specialties. I ordered the Molcaje, and they were bursting with flavor — perfectly grilled meat, fresh toppings, and homemade tortillas that were out of this world. Everything tasted homemade and authentic, like a true taste of Mexico. The portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality and presentation. Whether you’re craving tacos, enchiladas, or something new, this place delivers a top-tier experience. I’ll definitely be coming back — highly recommend to anyone who loves great Mexican food!

This was our first time here and we loved it. The food and service were great. The chicken was seasoned well. We would definitely recommend this place.
Lynn J — Google review
So, I drove past a taco truck on my way here and I should have just ate there. It looked busy and popular. But instead I went to this place. Big mistake. I'm a fat white guy. So I don't have the heritage, but I have the experience. Still, the customers looked to be Spanish speaking, and that's usually a good sign. So maybe I caught a bad night, or maybe the house specialties are really good. But this was not a good experience. Beef nachos: greesy and hardly any cheese. Just watery bland hamburger on chips with some queso on it. Didn't finish it. Still hungry so I got the street tacos. Again, very basic and bland. Even the pork was pretty tasteless. Only bright spot was the hot sauce. But it's probably too hot for most people. Service was terrible. I sat at the bar, had to ask for everything, never checked in, asked how everything was, etc. Seems to have a cold, so maybe he wasn't feeling well. But maybe he should have stayed home so I wouldn't have to watch him blow his nose without changing gloves. As I got ready to leave, a guy came up for a new icedtea; the tea was fine, he said, but the glass was dirty. I think that just about sums it up.
David B — Google review
Great food! Many unique dishes you won't find anywhere else. 32 oz margarita will render you unable to drive, make sure you don't need the driver going home. Service was great. Would go back but we were just traveling through, prob won't go by there again. We were looking for a place for dinner. They are very close to the highway for a quick on and off. Seems to be a well run family operation. We had to eat outside though because it was too noisy inside.
Jim V — Google review
My son and I stopped in for a bite to eat after his baseball games. We were seated right away and the chips & salsa came out pretty quick. I ordered unsweetened tea for a drink, it was brewed way too long and watered down, so it was bitter and weak. I asked the waitress if the tacos de carne asada or birria was better and she suggested the birria. Birria is normally one of my favorites, but this wasn't very good. The consume was mostly grease and the sauce that came with it didn't have a good taste at all. The rice might have been the best part of my meal and it was only ok. My son got the Taco, enchilada and rice. He said the enchilada sauce tasted more ketchup than enchilada sauce. The bill was over $40 before the tip and we didn't order anything crazy. My son is 9 and said we aren't going back again and i agree with him. This place is a 1 and done for us.
Jason S — Google review
After getting recommendations for this restaurant I decided to give it a try. The food is pretty good, but some of it came out cold. The service was extremely bad. The girl was more interested in the host stand then waiting on her guests. I don't think the poor service outweighs the food, so I won't be going back.

My grandsons and I had lunch at the Los Amigos in Thurmont. The restaurant was recommended to us. The dining experience was delightful. The service was wonderful and the meal was delicious! All three meals were great. We had 10' steak burrito, faijito steak nachos, a tamale, and 4 rolled chicken burritos plus 3 drinks. The restaurant was clean and festively decorated. We enjoyed every minute and will be back another day.

In the area on a temp assignment. Never visited Rocky’s before. I googled, saw reviews and menu and took my shot. So glad I did. I ordered the ny style pizza Rocky’s special. The portions were plentiful, the flavors were excellent and it was piping hot. Highly recommend -
Steven D — Google review
My husband and I decided to try Rocky’s and had a mixed experience. We ordered two drinks (self-serve soda), two French fries that tasted great, and two cheesesteaks that were absolutely huge—definitely more than we could eat. The two staff members who helped us were extremely friendly, which we really appreciated. The location has a small parking lot and was mostly clean. The bathroom, however, was disappointing. The space felt uninviting with dark walls and limited room, the steps leading up to it needed cleaning, and they were out of hand towels. The toilet rocked as if it wasn’t secure, which was concerning. Ordering is done at the counter, and then the food is brought to your table. Nobody comes back to check on you, so the experience is more like a fast-food setup (similar to Hardee’s or McDonald’s) rather than a sit-down restaurant. Our biggest issue was the wait time—it took about 45 minutes for our order, even though the dining room wasn’t full. Maybe they had a lot of online or phone orders, but we weren’t expecting such a long wait for a relatively small order Overall, the food was good and the staff friendly, but between the long wait time, the bathroom issues, and the overall feel of the place, we’ve decided we won’t be returning.

Ordered 2 chicken cheesesteaks about a month ago and they were phenomenal. They used nice thick cut chicken fillets and they were seasoned perfect. Just got 2 and they were very simple orders. Just cheese and grilled onions. We were given 2, 80 percent breading, chicken tenders sandwiches. When I called them the owner proceeded to tell me that how they've always done it. They offered to remake them with grilled chicken for us but I have to Uber right now so I wouldn't be able to get them. Just saying that if youre going to order a chicken cheesesteak from here. Just know that this is how they make them...

My parents and I brought my three kids to eat dinner here after a pool day and visiting the horse barn. It had been a long day, and no naps were had....taking them out to eat was a gamble but necessary as we were all starving. The service was great, food was AMAZING and really good sized portions, and no one was phased when we had a spill and kids going through the last burst of energy before crashing. There were clearly regulars present as staff and I'm assuming the owner were greeting all the known and new visitors. He was so kind to my sons, who were struggling after about thirty minutes of being seated, and gave them all Blow Pops for keeping themselves mostly under control. Prices were really reasonable especially for the portion sizes. Will 100% be visiting here often.

Sizable mountainous open space with a man-made lake & the largest cascading waterfall in the state.
I stayed in a cabin for 3 days for my 16th birthday, absolutely amazing and I had such a great time!! We rented 2 cabins and both were clean, cozy and overall spacious. The mattresses were comfortable and we had no trouble using the firepit outside. Both the moderate and difficult hiking trails were really enjoyable, especially the "difficult" one which was actually quite approachable for me as a first time hiker and there were many beautiful rocks/scenic areas where you could just sit down and enjoy the nature. The falls were absolutely beautiful and easy to climb as well. Everyone I met there was absolutely lovely and so was all the park staff. We also went kayaking and the lake is beautiful, the kayak rental was relatively expensive (around $35 or so for the hour) but the lake was quite big. I recommend going in the morning if you plan to go kayaking, boating or fishing since when we went (around 8am!) there were very few people in the lake and it was much quieter and more peaceful to just sit in the middle of the lake and admire the nature. overall it was an amazing experience and I would definitely visit again!

We visited Cunningham Falls State Park last weekend and had an amazing experience! It’s the perfect spot for weekend activities and quality family time. We stayed in one of the park’s cabins, which were cozy, clean, and well-maintained — a great balance between rustic and comfortable. It made camping with the family super convenient, especially for those who want the feel of the outdoors without pitching a tent. One of the highlights of the trip was hiking the trail to the waterfalls. The hike was scenic, well-marked, and family-friendly. The waterfalls themselves were beautiful and definitely worth the trek. We spent time relaxing by the falls, taking photos, and enjoying the peaceful natural surroundings. Whether you’re into hiking, relaxing by the lake, or just enjoying a cabin retreat, this park has something for everyone. Highly recommended for families looking to disconnect, explore nature, and create some great memories together. We’ll definitely be back!

The park was very clean with plenty of space to camp/picnic around. Parking was a first come first serve so it’s best to come at an early hour. There was an area where you could rent a kayak for an hour which was very enjoyable to really spend some time in the lake!

Quite place on an weekend, trails not too difficult . Serene lakeside. There was no security or any kind of watch person when we went. They have place for Barbecue. Clean washrooms too. Playarea for children is also there. Looks like there's boating ,kayaking facilities there, but it was all closed when we went.

Great place for a hike! We visited in September and did the upper trail to lower trail loop. Did it with my 70 year old fit parents. Took about 1.5 hours. Totally worth it! Saw a frog, a fuzzy caterpillar and a snake Unfortunately for us swimming in the lake was closed in mid September. Weekday and weekend Very well kept

This beautiful State Park boasts waterfalls, a lake and trails. A dip in the lake after hiking the trails to the falls is so refreshing! Bathrooms and changing rooms, picnic tables and shade. Carry out your trash.

This is a magnificent place to be! It was extremely quiet and enjoyed. With endless acres of beautiful mother nature. The creeks and waterways are so lovely and calming. There are several walking and hiking paths. The bathhouses were clean, well stocked, and nicely maintained. As for the staff that I met and talked with. Every one of them was pleasant, kind, talkative, and professional. The downsides are that. The campsites are way too close together! The space between them and around the campsites is all way too open. Aside from fallen branches and leaves, that's pretty much it.
Luke — Google review
Perfect for a walk or a bit of hiking — you can choose between a flat trail or a more challenging hill path, depending on your energy. After about a mile, you’ll be rewarded with a cute little waterfall! Don’t forget to check out the two cozy beaches, South and North beach , on opposite sides. You can rent a canoe for $27 per hour per person, freshen up with available showers, and grab a hot snack from the local stand. Entry is just $3 — totally worth it for some quiet time in nature!

Catoctin Furnace is the remains of an 18th century metal factory and its owner's mansion. It is literally bricks and mortar. There are numerous historical markers telling the story of the furnace and its workers, many if not most of whom were enslaved people. The furnace was an important source of metal during the revolutionary war.
James E — Google review
The trails were well-maintained. I appreciate the historic information shared along the trail as well. It did a very good job of ensuring the enslaved who worked at Coactin Furnace are remembered.
Mary L — Google review
Really neat place with a lot to see and a lot of history. Walking trail is short and pretty. Apparently there is a cemetery back in the trees that is sometimes visible but is currently on private property.
Vanessa B — Google review
A charming, historic, if not poignant, no-cost stop just off of U.S. Hwy 15. The furnace ruins and mounds of slag tell of a dangerous industry in a bygone era of sweat and slavery. Evidence of languish and luxury sit next to one another, and a walking trail with signage allows for exploration of the historical enterprise. Parking was ample as the site is not that busy, and there's plenty of room to roam around. I don't remember a restroom, but the site is good for either an in-depth examination or a quick look.
Joel S — Google review
Really lovely. Trail to falls is good- an easy walk, then you can choose a more difficult walk. Near the falls is the lake and beach. Fantastic for families, couples, bring your dog/dogs. There is a covered area with a little food shop. Water sports on the lake.
Kathryn C — Google review
I attended a sponsored "living history" event that is not directly connected to the park site.

This location is a very nice place, staff are friendly and helpful. Great appliances, programs and activities. No problems with parking lot, if you want to reserve a student room I recommended to call them, I’m pretty sure they gonna help you!

A great local library with a nice selection of books and very helpful staff. They have a nice covered deck for outside reading in the back, a nature walking trail and it's just a short walk to the Trolley Trail into Thurmont. There are a few study rooms available for reservation as we as a nice children's area and a separate teens area. A great feature of this library is the agriculture research room with a lot of great local history to dig into.

Staff are nice, inside the library is clean. I took my kids here to play and read books. I love that balcony outside surrounded by forest. Like to hear birds sound. More books. There are kindly kids bathroom, a lower sink. Only thing I cared about was some kids put the bbq food toys in their mouths , their parents looked like didn’t care what they did , so make sure all clean the toys the end of the day. Otherwise I don’t want to go here to let my kid play.

We visited for kids storytime and afterwards were able to meet some kittens. Our kids loved it. The library itself is great, very open and spacious, and the kids were able to find the books they wanted easily. Best of all though are the staff, very courteous, friendly, and helpful. An easy 5 stars from us!

Beautiful library! Love the library and have used their facilities consecutively for my own studying and taking my children for years. If you’re going to study or read be ware that it is a public place and they let everyone come. Even the guy who runs up and down the library for hours! This has happened to me while there several times and if there isn’t a study room available good luck because he’s allowed to do so.

The Thurmont library is beautiful. Very spacious, plentiful seating and computer stations. There is a gorgeous deck with tables and chairs that is open to a little nature trail in the back. The employees are always very friendly and helpful. Great book displays! I love this place

Maple Run Golf

Golf course
Maple Run Golf is a beautiful natural area located in Thurmont, Maryland, covering over 8,000 acres and offering various recreational opportunities. Visitors have praised the course for its nice layout and good condition at a reasonable price. The staff has been described as helpful and accommodating. The course offers a moderately challenging yet fun experience with scenic views and diverse holes. It is considered great value for the money, especially on weekends.
Nice people, place and course. Additionally we rented their Finn Golf Scooter (motorcycle style), it was fun and faster to get through the course. Each player is able to search for their ball quicker and play at their individual pace.
Armando T — Google review
Seriously? Seriously? This course is a joke. It is not a playable course at all. If I could give negative, I definitely would. Tee boxes and fairways are definitely need a lot of works. All grasses are so dry and short and there are lots of weeds on fairways. There is no borderline between rough and fairways. Even if you can see it, no difference. Only reason I gave one start is because greens look better than fairways and tee boxes. However, greens are so dry and I think they need to water them, but they were clean though. The layout of a whole course is simple and easy. I spent a lot of time on finding next holes because signs were missing, even though the path leads one way, Back 9 could be more fun if it was maintained well. Interestingly one of Par 5 has a length of more than 600 yard, which I don't think it's necessary. There were a few of dog-leg holes but most of them was laid out straight. There was a hot deal and it was great- only $14 for 18 holes with a cart, but even I thought I was going to leave when I saw the tee box and the fairway at Hole #1.
Eric L — Google review
A great golf experience. The course was well maintained and the greens matched the practice putting green. The starter was able to get us off a few minutes early. The pace of play was horrendous as we found ourselves waiting on nearly every hole. A Marshall was needed to maintain pace of play. We do look forward to a return visit.
Seven A — Google review
Great golf course. I find the layout challenging. Pace of play varys every time we go but usually pretty good. Maintained ok, not perfect but course layout is really nice. One of my favorite courses to play.
Joseph S — Google review
We really enjoyed our round here. Great value for the money, even on a weekend. This is not a country club, cart paths are a little rough and so are some of the tee boxes, but the course is a lot of fun, moderately challenging, and in a beautiful setting. For <$50 on a Sunday this is a great spot.
Andrea G — Google review
I hadn’t played this course in several years and was excited to come back, but I was pretty disappointed. The fairways and greens were soaked, with standing water everywhere. My legs were covered in mud by the end and my feet were soaked. Pace of play was really slow, and the group behind us nearly hit into us three times while we were waiting on the group ahead.
J K — Google review
Really great course and you can't beat the price! Beautiful scenery on all holes, back 9 is gorgeous and tree lined. Can't wait to play again, well worth the drive.

American restaurant
Simply Asia offers a diverse range of Chinese, Thai, and Japanese dishes, including sushi, in a vibrant dining space with red walls. Located in a rural town near Appalachia, the restaurant is popular for its sushi, stir fry, and crab rangoons. While it's considered a small local joint with room for improvement due to its small-town setting and basic amenities like plastic plates and minimal ambiance, the service is friendly and welcoming.
Visiting the area for the zoo ! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm smiles and the comforting aroma of fresh spices. I had the Thai salmon over veggies (spicy) with rice — perfectly cooked, flaky, and bursting with flavor. The crab wagons were crispy and addictive, the shrimp tempura light and golden, and the Neptune Feast, with its lightly sauced veggies and crab meat, shrimp, and scallops was absolute perfection. Every bite was fresh, vibrant, and beautifully balanced. Service was quick and friendly, and the cozy atmosphere made the whole experience even better. A must-visit for anyone who loves exceptional Asian cuisine!

One of my favorite spots so I had to leave a review. I’ve been getting lunch specials from them since I was a teen and it was all I could afford that was healthier compared to the food options around. They’ve always been one of my go to’s since. Everyone I recommend the restaurant to loves the place. I’ve been able to try more on their menu recently, and can say it’s one of my favorite places to eat. If you are in town, it’s definitely a must stop!
T M — Google review
Regarding the food- Unfortunately, this was some of the worst Chinese food I have ever had. The shrimp fried rice tasted stale, as if it was cooked in used cooking oil. I do not think the dish was freshly made. If the dish is fresh, and I am incorrect, there was far too much oil saturating the rice and an odd aftertaste (as if the dish had gone bad). The Hunan chicken had a very watery gravy; all the chicken was overcooked and extremely dry. Additionally, we ordered a chicken egg roll. The outer shell was crispy and tasted as expected. The filling in the egg roll tasted stale, freezer burnt, and was very dry. This may be an enjoyable meal for some, but our group ended up trashing the food shortly after delivery. Regarding the service- Upon calling the restaurant, they indicated the chicken being dry and overcooked was my personal preference rather than a genuine issue. The staff offered a refund for the fried rice; however, refunds are only done in-person with cash. I thought this practice was quite odd, as I had never heard of this before. The delivery person was very kind and patient though, wishing them well.
MII — Google review
The drunken noodles tasted like they were made in a dishwasher. I told the owner nicely that I am not pleased with my food after taking a couple of bites and proceeds to patronize me and asking me why did I take more than one bite if I wasn’t going to eat it. She also claimed I was doing all of that cause I did not want to pay when I never said I wasn’t going to pay I was just asking her to either remake my order or to get me something else. I still ended up paying for my whole meal after eating only 2 bites after she refused to get me anything else, absolutely terrible establishment and really unprofessional, never going back!
May C — Google review
For a rural town out near Appalachia, this place is pretty nifty if you're craving sushi, stir fry, or crab rangoons. This place is definitely a small local joint, lots of improvements could be made BUT this IS a small town so I understand. Plastic plates are fineeee... The service is ran by high-school girls. They were all super sweet and welcoming. Some laughing with the staff in the back. They NEED music in there. It was so quiet and awkward. Ambience needed. 🥟The rangoons were really good. Not sopping with grease or crunchy/burnt as a stick. 🍣Sashimi was good, not the most fresh as I could taste the fact they were still thawing abit, but still not bad. 🍛Husband says his stir fry was lackluster but the beef was cooked wonderfully and he loved the mushrooms & snap-peas.

Fast food restaurant
McDonald's is a timeless fast-food institution that has captured the hearts of many with its iconic burgers and fries. During my travels, I've found myself in more McDonald's locations than I care to count, but each visit offers something unique. This particular spot stood out for its friendly staff and cleanliness, making it a pleasant dining experience. Families will appreciate the interactive monitors featuring games for kids, adding an extra layer of fun to their meal.
I stopped for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised that they deliver your order to your table. The service and cleanliness was great. This location is definitely a different type of McDonald's!

Alejandro J — Google review
Stopped at this location because we had a long drive back home and wanted a little something to eat. I thought since we ordered inside the restaurant we would get faster service but that was not the case. First we used the kiosk but it did not print out our receipt. Then we waited a long time, seeing drive through customers come and go. Finally my order came out but had to wait another 10 minutes for my sisters order. Then after we were on our way home I opened my spicy chicken sandwich. It was cold, dry and chewy, not fresh! Sorry I ever stopped there.
Barbara — Google review
McDonalds has made a kid friendly place less kid friendly by installing screens for kids to use while waiting or eating. This makes it even harder to keep kids off screens.
Alan B — Google review
Be very careful when ordering at this mcdonald's! Ordered and PAID breakfast through mobile app and got there at 1055. Person (large man) at drive thru tells me he can't complete it cus they don't have the food (really no coffee?). I tell him that I already paid for the order and he says he can't do anything. I tell him I need a refund since it's already paid for, he then proceeds to LIE and tell me it can be canceled through the app. But what this person does is push through my order so it can't be canceled, I will try to post the screenshot here. Like it's mcdonald's, what is your problem?? Other, better people could use the job! Now currently have to wait for corporate mcdonald's to resolve this when it shouldn't have been an issue to begin with. Will not be returning. Didn't think you could have a bad experience at McDonald's, but here we are.

We had nice picnic in cunningha fall park. While going back we ordered happy meal & 2 medium fries. They gave us chocolate shake. But there was a big mosquito inside it.... my daughter did some sips from it & then she saw it. My god..worst experience ever. Will never buy anything from Mc donalds anymore. Specially when there was lack of hygiene.

Fast food restaurant
Roy Rogers is a regional chain named after the famous American cowboy actor. Despite many locations closing in the 1980s, there are still some franchises operating. The Thurmont, MD location stands out for its nostalgic atmosphere and attention to detail in service, cleanliness, and food quality. Customers enjoy the chicken tenders, cheeseburgers, and sides like fries while appreciating the friendly staff.
Wow, you rarely see a fast food place with 4 stars, lol. We go here on our way from Harrisburg to DC area where my parents live. I love their 1/4 lb cheeseburgers. I rarely eat red meat so once in a blue moon I get a cheeseburger. Roy's has the best burger out of all the fast food. It tastes simple . No sauce like McDonald's or BK. Their fries are also good and hot. The young men who work the window are always polite and cheerful. Thanks! Update: we went here Dec 27 after visiting my parents in DC area. We went inside because I had to use the restroom. The workers were so nice and friendly. Very rare to see that at fast food joints! I got my usual yummy cheeseburger.

Keep in mind that this is fast food, so I am reviewing this restaurant in comparison to other places like it. The staff was friendly and everyone smiled and greeted us...and I mean everyone. The parking lot was well kept, no trash laying around, and the walkways were clear. Everything appeared to have been swept off recently. Placing our order was quick and easy with an easy to read menu displayed behind the counter. The dining area was very clean, as were the restrooms.

They were out in of Roast Beef sammies!! And the burger was dry.. was also hard to find a clean table .. only two other customers but several employees gathered in the kitchen area likely decided where they will work when this place closes.. which i hate because we LOVE ROY ROGERS restaurants, normally… not this one so much .. sorry

Nice, bright, fast food sort of operation, but with a higher quality than most chains. I give them props for having some nutritive beverage choices instead of just soda. I do wish they still had the salad bar.
Nick N — Google review
Roy Rogers typically has the best fast food around. At my most recent visit on 9/18/25 the food was not fresh and the service was not good. The fries were cold and the veggies in the fixins cup were not fresh. The drive thru worker was on her phone the whole time I was sitting at the window waiting on my food. Another staff member sat my food down next to her and then proceeded to look at the girl’s phone prior to giving me my food.

Awesome! Haven't been to RR since I was a kid. We really loved it, I got a RR burger or something, cowboy sauce on it or whatever its called was awesome. I loved that they still have the condiment bar! I remembered that from when I was liytle back in the 80s! So cool. My kids fried chicken though was dried out and awful, and out of 3 pcs only 1 was actually edible, which was kinda lame, but oh well. Everything else was great!

The Roddy Road Covered Bridge is a charming small bridge located in a picturesque rural setting. It is well-preserved and in excellent condition. The surrounding area is clean and beautiful, offering a great spot for taking a leisurely stroll or having a picnic by the park nearby. There is also a playground for young children and a small creek where visitors can dip their feet in. The bridge is dog friendly, but it's important to bring your own bags for cleaning up after your pet.
This was a great stop to stretch your legs and enjoy the peacefulness of nature. Pretty covered bridge set in farmland with several picnic tables and swings. There is a restroom there, but it is bare bones (no sink, composting toilet).

Roddy Road Covered Bridge is a beautiful hidden gem just outside of Thurmont. The bridge itself is a rare piece of history, with a unique design that makes it one of the most charming covered bridges in Maryland. It spans a peaceful creek surrounded by trees, making it a perfect backdrop for photos or a quiet moment. The adjacent park is great for families, with picnic tables, open grassy areas, and a gentle stream that adds to the relaxing vibe. It’s a perfect stop for a weekend drive or a peaceful afternoon out in nature. Definitely worth the visit.

Catoctin Breeze Vineyard and Winery is a renowned winery that has received accolades for its exceptional Cabernet Franc varietals. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities in the area, such as taking a Covered Bridges Driving Tour, exploring Catoctin Wildlife Preserve, and picking seasonal produce at Catoctin Mountain Orchard before indulging in local wine at the vineyard.
The winery is so beautiful! If you're going to be in the area definitely stop in here. The Cabernet Franc is our favorite. The people who work here are really nice and provide a wonderful experience. Leah and Lauren were fantastic.

Mixed review. The wine is decent. The service was decent. The services offered are a tour on Fridays and Saturdays. Or $20 wine tastings of four pairings. It seems like the location focuses on reds. But you had to have the tasting at the bar countertop. You couldn’t sit at the other seats in the tasting room. And you certainly couldn’t leave to go outside. This is something I see at certain wineries, but there are also more of them that do offer a flight that you’re able to take with you somewhere else. Or the server comes to you outside. But the location! It had recently rained a few days ago, and the ground was still pretty moist enough where the chairs were sinking into the grass. Many of the outdoor seating areas were so overgrown with weeds that they were up to your knees when you tried to sit outside of the primary seating area. The tables that they had out there were sitting in water and overgrown grasses. There is a lounge that is upstairs, but it doesn’t offer views of the vineyard. And then the main seating area is not covered with gravel or Cement. So you’re sitting in the grass with sinking soil… I would suggest that they manicure their seating area as much as they did the flower gardens leading up to the house. Also, add bay windows to the upstairs sitting area. And seats to the bar!

I came in on a day date. It was a beautiful drive, parking was easy, location is beautiful. Walking in we are greeted by the bartender, she was pretty, very knowledgeable, with great service. We each sampled wine standing at the bar. After purchasing 4 bottles because the pricing is very reasonable and quality is excellent, we sat outside. The weather was a warm bright winter day, so the tables and chairs sat up outside the vineyard. The cuturie snacks was delish. The ladies room WAS elegant an clean. We also had the pleasure of meeting the young owner who let us try a sample of what he was working on...delish. overall a wonderful experience and I highly recommend this Vineyard..

We had Catoctin Breeze Vineyard join us during the BMW Championship to provide a tasting for our clients, and it was a wonderful experience. Everyone was impressed with the quality of their product and truly enjoyed the representative, who was both personable and extremely knowledgeable. Leah brought great energy to the event and made the tasting memorable. I highly recommend visiting their winery or inviting them to be part of your event!

We hosted my father-in-law’s 80th birthday at Catoctin Breeze Vineyard and it was perfect! We rented the space for an hour before it opened to the public - Leah and the rest of the staff were awesome to work with! The space is incredible - we had ample room for our group of 30. We selected the wines ahead of time so everything was ready and appropriately chilled when guests arrived. We brought in our own food and were able to decorate the space for the occasion. Highly recommend!

Wonderful winery! We stopped in very spontaneously and I am glad we did. I wish I remembered the name of the gal who served us for our tasting but everyone there was so friendly. The wine is all delicious and if we didn’t have a longer drive ahead of us we would have stayed for more. The estate is beautiful and clean as well. Will definitely be back!

Beautiful park, amazing views. The church beside it isn't very christianly. They kept threatening to have cars towed during the football game...there wasn't an event going on.

Great park for local sports games. Plenty of soccer fields. Nice playgrounds. Needs more parking for soccer fields. Two tiny parking lots are not enough and there is no road parking.

Beautiful park! Well kept and managed constantly. Bathrooms are clean. Definitely a great place to bring family and attend local sporting events.

An awesome little park. Really all you need to be honest and its super well done. I think the concrete company is also local, maybe PA? I thought that was kinda cool. A nice round bar and concrete box that are low enough to learn any trick. Decent space for speed/run-ups. The concrete is buttery smooth and no bikes are allowed which is the first time I've seen that. I guess its to keep mud off of the concrete? This would also be a great place to learn transition skills as there are different quarter pipe heights. The locals are really nice. I parked in the school parking lot across the road and walked over to the park as it can be a little confusing to access at first. Glad this is 25 minutes or so away from my house, such a cool addition to the local skate scene.

Tiny skatepark good for beginners and nobody else. Surface is not level, they claim to have a bowl without one present and kids are constantly waxing coping. If you live in the area it's cool but I would not recommend driving out any kind of distance to skate here.
Michael B — Google review
This is a sad little fenced in area with no shade. I've never seen a dog there in the 3 times I've been. I would not call this a park 😕

Definitely was a good place for my son to start practicing on his scooter before going to larger area skate parks

I love it for what it is but I wish they would just add a bit more or even like a bowl or just make it a little bit bigger for more people to attend because it’s really small and looks like it will get cramped really easy

Bollinger's Restaurant and Uncle Dirty's Brew Works is a must-visit eatery that offers delectable food and refreshing beer. The establishment boasts cleanliness and a warm, welcoming staff. With an outdoor seating area and ample parking space, it provides a convenient dining experience. Their menu includes delightful dishes like the barbecue turkey sandwich with apple-infused sauce on the side, accompanied by mouthwatering French fries. They also serve a tempting baked potato topped with beef and cheddar cheese.
Stopped in for lunch, what an awesome little gem! It is family owned, with an amazing history. Everything is made there. Food was delicious, service was friendly & efficient. The owner is super friendly & generous 😁 We had the 3 meat platter with brisket, pit beef and turkey. They were all SO GOOD! All cooked just perfectly! Sauces were all hand made & delicious. We had cole slaw and mac & cheese, both delicious and the corn bread was amazing also! We eat out alot across a wide area & it is rare to find a place with not only fabulous bbq but the sauces & sides are also good! We will definitely be back 😁

Fantastic BBQ. The Ruben is one of the best around. Full rack and pulled pork were out of this world. The buffalo wings were a tad too spicy for my kids but I like them. Service was good but we never got drink refills after asking. Prices were very affordable. I do wish people had more decorum when eating at a restaurant, shirts with sleeves, no hats at the table, etc...

Went to Bollinger's Restaurant for lunch yesterday during Colorfest. The brisket sandwich was the best I've ever had. They were extremely busy, but the staff was still very friendly and professional. I highly recommend this place if you like great BBQ!

Unfortunately I cannot give this place a good review because of my most recent experience with carry out which I USED TO DO OFTEN as I live literally across the street. When I first decided to eat at Bollingers I was extremely happy with the food the service and the entirety of the experience and the few I had after that. Mind you when I first went to Bollingers it was over a year ago. Sadly the food and service and overall quality of the place has gone down significantly in my personal opinion. Recently one afternoon me and my boyfriend decided to get lunch from Bollingers so he told me what he wanted and I called the restaurant and ordered our food for carry out, they told us 20 min I believe and we walked over there and went to the carry out counter and still had to wait another 15-20 min or so for our food. Once we left the house got home and started eating…. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries…. I finished most my sandwich and fries and go to reach for another French fry and see that there is a fly cooked into it he very fry I picked up, it made me so disgusted that I threw up and couldn’t stop. I then decided to take my food back over to get my money back and when I told them about it the manager simply says basically nothing…. I had to ask and demand for my money back and I shouldn’t have had any of these negative experiences, Bollingers is supposed to be a higher end restaurant in Thurmont and it became a huge disappointment, so much so that I don’t even think about going there to eat anymore. Gross.

This is my first time here as I was visiting the Grotto. I’m truly glad I found this place! This place is easy to access and is very clean inside. I ordered the half rack of ribs and they were delicious. The waitress recommended the pepper slaw and it was quite good. My family member ordered a brisket sandwich and it came with a house made white BBQ sauce… (now let me tell you that sauce needs a patent!). As for my other family member they ordered the fully loaded Chicago Dog and they really enjoyed it. Bollinger’s has been around since 1946 and they will continue to serve fantastic food! Y'allll, this is the place to go for amazing food. Totally worth a drive if you aren’t local. Perfectly smoked turkey is not easy to find. Onion rings are crispy and accompanied by a delicious homemade sauce that will make you want to slap you momma. Thurmont has many delights, this is the best. Hands down.

We ordered dinner…out of the meatloaf, so I went with the roast beef and gravy, mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. Meal arrived lukewarm. Cut my beef sandwich and found it finely sliced and mostly the grisly fat that should have been carved away before slicing into a sandwich and smothering it in gravy. I had to carefully pick apart the meat and ate what little of that thinly shaved meat that was edible! How can they pride themselves as a bbq place? Shouldn’t all their offerings be tasty and appealing? Two stars at best for this. So disappointed with my first meal in Maryland.

Burger King is a popular fast-food chain renowned for its grilled burgers, crispy fries, and delightful shakes. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly breakfast option, their iced BK Cafe Iced Coffee is an absolute steal at under three dollars for a large size! Pair it with the Double Sausage, Egg, & Cheese Croissan'wich for a satisfying start to your day.
One of the coolest burger kings I've seen, has this 50's retro theme. The lady working the register was very nice and professional, and the food was fresh. They also have a slushy machine which is pretty cool

Tammy H — Google review
Absolutely garbage. I just sat for close to 30 mins to get food I didn’t order. First #1 was cold I’m sure my friend will have food poisoning because there’s no way that hot so cold within a half hour of them playing around with their friends who came in to visit while customers were waiting for their orders to be taken and made. Second #2 same thing.. the sandwich was ice cold but missing the bacon I asked for and was charged for but never added to the sandwich. I ordered 2 small and 2 medium. The small size they decided to give were the ones you get in the kids meal. But they definitely charged me for the price of a regular small. I get kids need to work and a fast food job is a good start at building skills. I really get that. But teaching the kids and even the adults who work there about quality is also important. This place has gone down hill so much that I honestly think it would be in the best interest of Thurmont and BK to just shut it down. I imagine your profits are decent because there isn’t much in the town but the way this food was… I promise you a lawsuits for food poisoning isn’t going to help the declining store. It’s only a matter of time before someone gets sick from what they feel is ok to give to customers. Why does one whopper have hundreds of sesame seeds and the other whopper have none? I should have taken more pictures but threw everything out—it was that gross.

Just arrived here at 10:30pm to get food from 20 mins away and they were closed early despite posted hours of 11pm. They had a delivery truck blocking off their drive thru and no indication that they were closing early. Thanks for wasting my time and making it to late to get anything else. Edit: came back the next day and the whole time I was waiting for my food they had their walk in fridge propped open. This was well over 10 minutes and I got the impression that’s just normal from how they acted. Could have some legitimate food safety concerns if that fridge isn’t managing to maintain proper holding temps with the door wide open for extended times. Attaching photos so maybe someone in management will actually care. Service was ok but really slow. Just mostly worried about that fridge sitting open like it was being used to cool the kitchen.

The Burger King in Thurmont, MD has good food, and the service is great. The employees are friendly. However the lobby is closed way too often, this past Thursday morning they were closed because the air conditioning was down. As a loyal customer, I prefer going inside instead of using the drive thru, I really don't care if the AC is working or not.

Fast food restaurant
Taco Bell is a vibrant fast-food destination that specializes in delicious Mexican-inspired dishes, including tacos, quesadillas, and nachos. Located in Thurmont, Maryland, this eatery offers a diverse menu featuring BBQ baked beans, crispy Caesar salad, grilled wings, seasoned rice bowls, and hearty chicken & biscuit bowls. Patrons rave about the freshness of their meals; many have enjoyed perfectly crunchy chalupas that stand out from typical fast-food offerings.
Stopped by for a lunch break, just got a beef chapula and a drink. Honestly the best tasting chalupa I've had in sooo long. Most Taco Bells I go to, the shell is stale and gross or flavorless. This one was perfectly crunchy and fresh. Thanks so much :)

If I could give this place no stars I would! My husband stopped here on the way to the high school for my son’s football game and stood at the counter to order for 20 minutes and never got helped. We ended up going to McDonalds right next door and got great service. This place needs to be managed better.
Kristina R — Google review
This place is so busy and managed so poorly. They take a thousand years to take an order and even longer to make the orders. Their drive thru is always packed, and they don't offer many of the same deals many other locations offer, and they don't even do online ordering. It's so bad. I've never seen a restaurant managed so badly. My family have lived in town for most of our lives, and we know never to go to this restaurant.

I just spent days in the hospital. Was released today and wanted to eat a meal I wanted after starving for days. I received the complete wrong order since someone taped the wrong ticket to my bag after ordering in door dash. After starving, I ended up eating the order I didn’t want, and it was a complete waste of my money. Thanks for making an awful night even worse.

I called to place an order over the phone because my co-worker was picking us up lunch and realized she did not have her wallet. I was directed to order it on the app. Which they do not show the KFC menu on their app. Both employees I spoke to were extremely rude. I will never go there again. They need more effective people skills.

Probably one of the dirtiest fast food restaurants I've been in. The fountain soda area was filthy there were no straws. The floors were filthy the tables were filthy we got loaded nachos and the nachos tasted Rancid. Terrible experience! Save your money, dont go there!
Dawn R — Google review
Taco bell is fine. KFC is just about as disgusting as it can get. I will never eat there again in my life. I even try to avoid the taco bells if they are attached. KFC used to be awesome. I used to eat there a lot from childhood to adulthood until just the past couple years it gets steadily worse with every visit. soggy old chicken, stale bread, soggy fries soaked in grease, sauces are terrible. I wouldn't even trust a ketchup packet from there. Even the fountain drinks taste like mold. I would rather starve and let my family starve than eat there. The company is absolutely disgusting. The food quality cleanliness and even their commercials are a joke. I'd rather eat my own vomit.

Loys Station Covered Bridge is a charming and well-maintained bridge located off Rt 15. It offers visitors a delightful detour for approximately 10 minutes, providing a chance to admire its beauty. The park surrounding the bridge is family-friendly, with amenities such as a playground and picnic tables. Additionally, there are opportunities for kids to enjoy themselves by wading in the low waters of Owen's Creek and catching crawdads.
A fun covered bridge with a little park.. has a play ground for children, a trail for dog walking or hiking, a stream for relaxing or exploring.. a shelter for family reunions, kids birthday parties, or cook out get togethers.. there are clean bathrooms available to use.. the park is open from 8:00am to sunset every day. There is plenty of grassy areas for playing sports and running energy out.. I rarely see a lot of people here so you mostly have the park to yourself unless there’s a party at the shelter.. there’s also a decent amount of parking available. Dogs must be kept on a leash, of course.. and of course pick up after them. Great little park.. I visit often and will continue to come back.

Nice family friendly little park with a playground and picnic tables. Of course the star of the show is the covered bridge. The day we were there, the water was low so kids were wading out to catch crawdads.

We were looking for something to do where we could still keep our distance during COVID-19 so we decided to take a drive to nearby covered bridges. It was a perfect drive and we only saw a few people. There are two other bridges close to this one so definitely check Google for the others. This is a nice bridge with a couple signs on the outside providing historical information.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Links Bridge Vineyards and it was an experience that supported all expectations. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the stunning surroundings- lush vineyards stretching as far the eye could see, set against a backdrop of rolling hills and vibrant skies. The tasting experience was nothing short of exceptional. Each wine was a testament to the winery’s dedication to quality and craftsmanship.

👍🏻Great set up for glasses for tasting, so it can be done side by side. 👎🏻There is no information about the winery or description of wines given by the staff, just what is on the paper 👍🏻lots of indoor and outdoor seating 👍🏻 pretty setting, had activities on property- bocce, cornhole, scavenger hunt for kids French onion potato chips were very good.

This is one of the most pleasant vineyards/wineries in the Frederick area! We had visited here once before for a group wine-tasting and thought it would be a perfect location for our recent small wedding. We had approximately 30 family members at the wedding and everyone loved the place! The owners (Joan and Bob) are friendly, helpful, accommodating and gracious. As we planned the event over the last few months, they were happy to meet during the week with us and the vendors we had selected and make sure that their physical site was ready for the occasion. We were pleased to see that they were “kid-friendly” with outdoor games (since we had grandchildren from the ages of 2 to the 20s coming) and could whip together a “Plan B” in case of bad weather (they have a ready supply of board games, “just in case”). The flowering trees and shrubs around the patios framed a lovely setting for the actual ceremony. We’re pretty sure this will be our “go to” place for our future anniversaries! The only negative is that their sign is small for my old eyes; they deserve a BIG sign! Luckily GPS is spot on with the location.

Please be discreet with the locals as this is a functional bridge on an ordinary road over a lovely little stream. Beautifully preserved you can see the new timbers mixing with the old. Iconic and graceful in appearance I took it in as is . Have no idea if it's authentic or to its history but a charming structure in itself, regardless

August 26, 2024 - Years ago while riding my motorcycle across rural Maryland . . . discovering the old wooded covered bridges was/is an ADVENTURE! Now my wife and I are seeking out Frederick County’s 3 Covered Bridges via car: Utica C.B. Loys Station C. B. Roddy Road C. B. * Extra in PA . . . Sachs C. B. ( I’ll write a review on each ! ) Originally called Devilbliss Covered Bridge, built in 1843, over the Monocracy River. The Johnstown Flood damaged the 250 foot bridge . Then half the bridge was rebuilt 1891, and moved to Utica a few miles away. The new covered bridge is 101 feet long, and located over Fishing Creek, near the Utica Recreation Park . Theodore Burr was the engineer who designed the bridge “wooden truss system” in the mid 1800’s. Currently this bridge has a few modifications. Be careful of traffic, single vehicle at a time. . . but pedestrians can walk this covered bridge. You’ll notice a security camera inside the bridge mounted on one of the ceiling beams. You also notice a sprinkler system. Fires were common from lightening strikes. * Fun Facts * +Maryland had over 100 covered bridges +Now MD only has 6 covered bridges +China used covered bridges 3,000 yrs ago +Switzerland has oldest Wood truss C. B. dating back to 1300’s +Utica C.B. added to National Register of Historic Places in 1978 Overall, it’s worth traveling around MD to find these covered bridges. I hope Maryland might invest in historical plaques & online digital links for first time visitors who want more information. Some of their bridge information was difficult to read , damaged due to the weather conditions. Go for that 5 th star on people’s reviews!

Absolutely nice bridge. Reminds of many of the covered bridges I’ve driven on in Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts. No safe place to park for one to enjoy the bridge. Nice area and not far from the Utica Park. The scenery is beautiful and is great to be cherished.

Nice bridge, but you're on your own to figure out how to enjoy it. No formal parking, just a wide spot after the bridge . (Or park on someone's apparent private parking)

Beautiful and picturesque. Lovely place to take beautiful pictures for graduation or prom. Had a wonderful time out there. Can't wait to see it in the summer.

This approximately 101 feet length bridge is very typical to those in Lancaster. It doesn't have the steel reinforcements rods, but does have arch structure and design, minus the few windows. This Frederick County Covered Bridge does not have all the amenities as the other two.
