Harpers Ferry National Historical Park is a family-friendly destination that offers a blend of outdoor activities, historical sites, and museums. Established in 1944, the park encompasses numerous historic landmarks related to John Brown and the Civil War, as well as pristine nature spots and viewpoints along the Shenandoah River valley. The town itself features historic buildings, monuments, and a charming downtown district.
I didn't think a place like this existed! To think that its just 30 mins away was a plus for me! This is the place where you would want to go multiple times (winter, summer, spring, fall) a place where i could truly relax my body and mind! The old buildings that was left and preserved was a bonus and its just mind blowing that this existed and i was able to see and experience it. I have been 2x now but i still haven't seen tha whole place yet. If you are a hiking junkie then this is the place for you since it has multiple trails that everyone can enjoy! As a matter of fact i enjoyed it so much that i paid for a year for the park admission!

Harpers Ferry is one of those places that offers a little bit of everything—stunning views, rich history, and great outdoor recreation. Whether you’re looking to hike scenic trails, walk through America’s past, or simply enjoy a peaceful day by the river, this park delivers on all fronts. Highly recommended for families, history buffs, and nature lovers alike. Nestled at the meeting point of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers, Harpers Ferry National Historical Park is a stunning destination that blends natural beauty, American history, and outdoor adventure. Our visit last Saturday was a refreshing and rewarding experience filled with scenic views, rich heritage, and plenty of time outdoors. For those who love the outdoors, Harpers Ferry is a dream. The park boasts numerous trails for hiking and trekking, ranging from short scenic walks to more intense climbs. A few favorites: • Maryland Heights Trail – Challenging but offers the best view over the town and rivers. • Jefferson Rock Trail – A short hike to a historic spot where Thomas Jefferson once stood. • Appalachian Trail – Yes, a section of this iconic trail runs right through the park! Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just want a light nature walk, there’s something for every level of adventure. Be ready for a lot of walking, especially up hills and along uneven paths. The historic charm comes with some elevation, but the views and the ambiance more than make up for the effort.

It was my first time visiting and it was absolutely gorgeous. We did the Maryland heights hike, its been on my bucket list and im so glad to have gotten it done! The weather was beautiful, the leaves are turning, and it was quite busy bit it was also a Saturday morning!

Great experience. Arrived with our RV and had ample parking. Hopped on a shuttle leaving you at the base of town. Cute little taverns and shops. Adorable town. Visited on a Sunday afternoon and sad that the church was locked up. Why not leave it open for those of us wanting to spend some time inside praying? Cute town.
Colleen H — Google review
Just go! If you haven't been yet, you need to get there. So beautiful. Easy trails. So scenic and peaceful. Plenty of parking. And there's a free shuttle to the village. Loved it.
MaryBeth L — Google review
This parks is a must in this area plus visiting the little downtown. There is so much history and amazing views that you can spend a day easily. We just want to return and do hiking and keep exploring the park. Thanks so much to the employees that even without receiving a paycheck are willing to keep working and are keeping the park in an outstanding shape. You are real heros!
Maria M — Google review
Found this park by accident while driving along Rt 340 checking out the fall foliage. There was no entrance fee due to the shutdown, but the visitor center was still open. Plenty of parking in the park. Free shuttles to Harpers Ferry town were running every 15mins. Staff were helpful and friendly. We took a short trail of about 2 miles starting right outside from the visitor center. Beautiful grounds with overlooks down to the Shenandoah river.
Vince N — Google review
Lower town is an amazing little spot for history and cool people and places! The shuttle to lower town gets busy on the weekends but it’s about a 30-40 minutes walk if you’re able to take the trail!

American restaurant
Country Café is a charming, family-owned and operated restaurant located in the heart of Harpers Ferry. Since 2014, it has been serving up delicious American breakfast and lunch options, including foot-long hot dogs. The cozy atmosphere is accentuated by local artwork on the walls and a welcoming vibe created by owners Lynn and Mark McDonough. If you're in the mood for classic American comfort food or a hearty breakfast, this café is the place to be.
If you're hungry and gearing up for a day of adventure, this is the place to be! I indulged in the café breakfast and was blown away by the enormous French toast, paired with incredible potatoes and perfectly cooked bacon. I even added two extra eggs, and it was all delicious! Thank you for kick-starting my day in the best way possible!

🥞 Country Café – Harpers Ferry, West Virginia 🥞 If you ever find yourself in Harpers Ferry, do yourself a favor and stop by the Country Café — it’s everything a good breakfast spot should be: cozy, welcoming, and downright delicious! My friend and I stopped in for breakfast and ordered the French toast, bacon, and eggs — absolute perfection. The French toast was golden with just the right touch of sweetness, the bacon was crispy, and the eggs were cooked exactly the way we asked. You could taste the love in every bite. ❤️ What made the meal even better was the atmosphere. The place feels like stepping into a warm hug — friendly faces, the smell of fresh coffee, and locals chatting over their morning paper. We even made a new friend, Ralph, a local who eats there every morning and made us feel right at home. It’s the kind of place that reminds you what small-town America is all about — good food, good people, and genuine hospitality. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars — can’t wait to go back! #HarpersFerry #CountryCafe #SmallTownCharm #GoodFoodGoodPeople #BreakfastDoneRight

Everything was awesome here! We went here three days in a row. Lisa was our server. She was amazing recommending a few stores since we were from out of town. Can’t wait to give my friend the awesome shirt I bought from there. We will 100 percent be back when in town again.

This was recommended to us by the JC visitor center. We stopped in for lunch. It wasn’t crowded on a Thursday afternoon. We had good service and the food was delicious. Good sized portions. Great hamburger and the chili was good too. Only negative was the parking but we had a spot.

This place was packed and had a full waiting area on Sunday morning. Solid diner vibe but mom and pop atmosphere. Servers were great...super attentive and kept the coffee coming. Loved their motto - see pic. Meats lovers omelet was just that...very tasty. Cinnamon roll was hit and fresh and plenty of icing and cinnamon. A little small for the price but quality.

The food options were very good and the food quality was also excellent. The ingredients seemed to be really fresh and freshly prepared. Not too greasy. Quaint atmosphere and looks like they may allow outdoor seating on nicer or busier days. Wouldn't recommend the orange juice. Didn't try the coffee.

My girlfriend and I were immediately greeted when we walked in giving a very home feeling. Our food was very delicious, my girlfriend ordered the hearty breakfast and said everything was perfect. Our server Mandy was very attentive and polite and made sure our drinks were always full. If you’re looking for a local small food place this will hit the spot every time!

The Anvil Restaurant is a cozy outpost located in a historic district, offering a low-key setting and ample seating. The menu features hearty dishes such as crab dip, onion soup, pulled pork sandwiches, smoked mac and cheese, and smoked chicken with kielbasa. The restaurant also surprises guests with non-alcoholic beer options. Visitors can enjoy the old-time feel without any negatives while sitting on the porch and experiencing great A/C and a full bar.
Great pulled pork sandwich, smoked right in front of the restaurant. In fact, I smelled it while driving by and just had to turn around and have lunch here. My waitress Jessie was very pleasant and helpful, and the place is very cozy with ample seating and a nice bar. They actually surprised me with a few non-alcohol beers to choose from. If you're in the area and can't deal with finding a parking spot down the street in the historic section, you can't beat The Anvil (open Thur-Sun, I noticed). They also have PLENTY of parking.

Before I go in to it originally being from MD I must confess I’m very particular when it comes to crab cakes. The crab cakes are not what I saw on other reviews, lots of filler with mostly shred and some lumps. The smoked chicken from the bbq pit was very moist and tasty. The service was ok but not very attentive even though it wasn’t that busy. The ambiance is great and what you would expect from a historical district. I gave a 4 overall I recommend the smoked chicken but I do not recommend the crab cake if you are from MD.

We ate here about 16 years ago and decided to come back with out family on New Years 2021. It was a bit different from what I remember; for instance, instead of real dishes and glasses, they use paper now. Prices are a bit steep to be served on paper plates. Overall, food was good. Waitress was very Friendly and down to earth. Nice ambiance.

The service was very good.. the food was very good. We had 2 of the specials one was cheese raviolis with sausage spinach mushrooms beans and peppers sauce ...the other was a steak topped with crab ceviche both meals came with salads. The steak came with mashed potatoes and green beans. We both had soup he had french onion and I had the tortilla soup . I also had dessert which was strawberry short cake layer in the evening. My drink was an Italian martini. It was a great evening out with fantastic food

I had an absolutely amazing lunch at the Anvil in Harper's Ferry! The BBQ sandwich was really good and the lava cake was delicious! It was a great break from hitting the trails and not far away from the entrance into the National Park!
Elizabeth W — Google review
So the place itself is like a toss between a historic and sports bar. The reason I give it five stars is the food, in particular.... the WINGS. I’ve had great buffalo wings else where but these were the best non-buffalo wings I’ve had thus far. The wings are smoked which makes them amazing. The blue cheese is home made and super super chunky. You can really taste the smokiness of the wing and they’re still juicy on the inside. Moving on from the wings, the crab balls were delicious. Known for their crab meat, they were very tasty and don’t have to much filler (breadcrumbs, etc). The brussel sprouts were amazing and covering in a vinaigrette and capers. Back to the wings, they’re were so good we order another round.

Had a great time at this family friendly place. Honestly found it because of the smoker out front and enjoyed the smoked mac and cheese and the smoked chicken and kielbasa. The pulled pork and other food items were tasty. The place has great A/C and a full bar and seems like the kind of place you want to see start happy hour around 3pm, sit on the porch and enjoy the rest of the night. Old time feel without any of the negatives. Bathrooms and tables and things were all very clean. Staff was friendly and one of them is a Jeeper (like me). Plenty of off street parking. We were warned by a friendly neighbor that the local cops are sticklers for tickets around fire hydrants. Go here for some friendly atmosphere (games playing on the TVs) and good fresh food and you’ll leave with a smile!
Deepak J — Google review
Great service! Our food came out very quickly. The pulled pork was very nice, the ribs was flavorful although it wasn't fall-off-the-bones tender. I wish the crab soup was cream-based instead of tomato-based.

Located in Bolivar, just a few miles from Harpers Ferry, this intimate eatery offers a welcoming atmosphere for vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores alike. Despite its small dining room, the restaurant has gained recognition for its innovative flavors and ingredient combinations.

Such an awesome spot!! If I lived in the area I would be a regular customer here. The staff were so kind and welcoming, dining here felt more like eating with family than being served at a restaurant. The food had a very homemade charm and was absolutely delicious. Great gluten-free and vegan options. I'm seriously going to miss this place. You guys rock!

Perfect place to grab a meal after a long hike or bike ride. Everything I’ve had here has been really good and the staff is very friendly and quick. They have a wide variety of options on the menu from junk food vegan to whole food plant based. Lots of gluten free options as well. Wish I lived closer I’d come more often

After a bit of a bummer of a day in Harper’s Ferry (lots of rain), this place saved the day. The rain was finally letting up so we sat outside on the covered porch. Service was quick and casual so great for dining with a toddler. We got a sub sandwich (simple but good), coco ramen (YUM), and a nugget kids meal. The nacho appetizer was really good and one of those “you’d never know it was vegan” types of thing. We are so grateful for a restaurant that is not only delicious but has something we aren’t used to as vegetarians - OPTIONS and a solid kids meal!

One of the best vegetarian restaurants I have been to and pleased omnivores as well! Extensive menu with seasonal offerings. You could eat there every day for a month and still not tried everything great yet! Excellent food and staff. Very helpful and pleasant! Inside seating is limited to about 10 people but there is plenty of outdoor space and the food comes quickly. Definitely give it a try!

This establishment is absolutely AMAZING! The staff are incredibly friendly, the chef’s are rays of sunshine who visit their patrons to ensure the quality of their food, and even the atmosphere is filled with happiness! As far as the FOOD, oh my LORD. This food is beyond delicious! It’s more a dance of flavors that tantalize your mouth with each bite. I’m so impressed that I’ve taken many friends (even non-vegan friends) to dine here and every single one of them returned! There is nothing better than food that’s created with love except HEALTHY FOOD that you wouldn’t know is healthy. It’s guilt free MOUTH WATERING, belly smiling AMAZING! Now that’s fine dining ! Highly recommend to everyone!

I love that there’s a vegan restaurant in my favorite little town. The food and atmosphere are lovely. The pinto beans were also so delicious!

Amazing, highly recommend! We stayed at a nearby Air B&B while visiting the area just to be close to Kelley Farm Kitchen after our veggie friends recommended it. The food was delicious & the staff were friendly. We ate there twice in one week. Husband had the Sourdough Patty Melt & I had the Chick'n Avocado sandwich. Highly recommend even if you aren't a veggie. Do yourself a favor & eat healthy and try Kelley's. Thanks for a great meal!

Bakery
When in Harpers Ferry, a visit to Bolivar Bread Bakery is a must. This woman-owned artisan bakery in the adjacent town of Bolivar offers an array of freshly baked breads and treats that are simply exquisite. From hearty pretzels to lush focaccia and delightful pesto sourdough, there's something for every palate. The bakery also features challah bread and more.
Friendly staff, many many selections to choose from! I personally had the pepperoni roll, cinnamon roll, biscuits and the ramps with cheddar sourdough. IT WAS ALL AMAZING. We tore into almost all of it immediately. I will deff be back, hopefully with a cart to carry everything out next time 😂🫶 the vibes were good here

We stopped by this place on our way out of town after visiting Harper’s Ferry National Park. It is super cute with friendly staff. If I wasn’t a gluten free person I would have bought ALL their bread, it looked delicious! What we did buy was a selection of their local gourmet groceries! I can’t wait to try my honey sweetened chocolate bar! We also bought some peanut butter and jam and iced tea. Definitely worth a stop if you visit the Harper’s Ferry area.

Very cute little brick and mortar bakery with extremely pleasant and efficient service! Heavenly smells emanate from inside the building half the block down! So many interesting breads to choose from I have the olive and rosemary sourdough bread, which is divine.

Charming small bakery that specializes in bread and some baked goods located in Harper's Ferry. The bread was fresh and tasty and my husband loved the brownie. I have a new obsession... And it's called Bolivar Bakery!! We stopped after a Harper's Ferry hike and thank gawd we did!! We purchased a cinnamon bun, lemon & blueberry scone, and a sourdough rosemary & olive bread OMG!! We are half the loaf last night and I'm eating a quarter by myself for dinner. Literally the best bread I've ever had. I live 40 minutes away and WILL be making trips JUST for Bolivar. Thank you for changing my (bread) life. 💖

While in town for a funeral, my friend gave me a nostalgia tour through Shepherdstown, Charles Town, and Harpers Ferry, where I grew up. One of her first instructions was clear: we have to stop at Bolivar Bread--and she insisted I try the Pretzel Samosa. When we arrived, I had a flashback to when the building used to be King's Pizza. I knew the owner back then and went to school with his kids, so the space already carried fond memories for me. Walking in now, I was immediately impressed--the display of breads, the open kitchen, and the warm, cozy vibe made it feel both fresh and familiar. The service only added to the experience. Everyone seemed genuinely friendly, and the person who helped us was chatty, welcoming, and offered some great suggestions. It made the visit feel personal, and I enjoyed the interaction just as much as the food. We ordered right away. Along with the Pretzel Samosa, I couldn't resist a Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie. The few outdoor tables were full, so we sat on the steps, eating and people-watching. The Pretzel Samosa completely blew me away. I asked for it warmed but worried it might turn tough as it cooled--yet the very last bite was just as soft and perfect as the first. The flavor was out of this world. I often order Aloo Naan back home in Colorado Springs (with potatoes and peas), but this went beyond anything I've tried--the pretzel aspect took it to a whole new level. Honestly, if I could have a dozen shipped to my door, I would. The cookie was enormous, and I nibbled on it for the next few days. It stayed soft, and the brown butter flavor elevated a classic chocolate chip cookie in a way that's hard to put into words. Thank you, Bolivar Bread, for not only the incredible bites but also for keeping the space cozy and welcoming, just like I remember it back in its pizza place days. With great food, warm service, and a nostalgic setting, I'll absolutely be back the next time I'm in town.

We really enjoyed our visits, so much so we took ‘Jeffrey‘ home with us :) He’s now a regular part of our family weekends delivering sour delights ;) Thank you for the delicious bread, outstanding service and the kindness to spread sourdough baking.

THE BEST BREADS AND PASTRIES! We went here both days of our stay and essentially bought one or more of everything. The breads are amazing (crusty outside, soft inside). Coconut/choc dipped macaroon, amaretti cookie, and brownies were top favs for pastries. Coffee was also top notch. Highly recommend.

Nestled in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, The Rabbit Hole is a lively gastropub offering a diverse menu of sharing plates, bar bites, and customizable burgers. The cozy and vibrant atmosphere makes it a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. Specialties include loaded pork fries, vegan hummus, and hearty burgers such as the Blue Ridge burger and grilled chicken burger with avocado and roasted peppers. With a focus on fresh and healthy options, the menu also features gluten-free choices.
This is a popular restaurant/bar in town and justifiably so. Everything we ordered was tasty and well priced. Drink selection was varied with nice local brews available. Service was friendly and attentive. Dog friendly patio. And the indoor bar/restaurant had a very cool and quirky vibe. It is popular and can get very busy. So be l patient if you happen to go on a busy day. This is a five star rating, not because it's a five star Michelin restaurant, but because what they do and what they have they do well and we had zero complaints.

A delightful eatery with outdoor dining overlooking the train station. The indoor dining had a nice atmosphere, but the weather was too nice to stay inside. The service was good and the food was tasty. We enjoyed the BBQ sandwich and a salad with grilled chicken. We visited during the week and it was not crowded, but I imagine that changes on the weekend. Overall, a nice experience.

A local told us this was the best place in Harper's Ferry for lunch. We tried it and believe that was the correct advice. Easily 5 stars. The restaurant is cozy and charming, decorated with hiking, canoeing, and National Parks signs and the like. Our meals were great. Everyone in our party enjoyed our food and drink. The table service was efficient and polite. The prices were very reasonable. We sat inside on a day when the place was very busy. The outdoor seating would have been just as nice. It had a view of the railroad trestle across the rivers. Either indoor seating or outside, you can't go wrong at Rabbit Hole.

The absolute best post-hike meal. Huge portions, delicious food, and the most attentive staff. The Rabbit Hole came highly recommended and did not disappoint. We loved the pulled pork fries, hush puppies, Cobb salad, and bbq sandwich. Huge selection of craft beers too. We sat at the bar, but there is ample outdoor and indoor seating available. Busy place but the kitchen got our special orders right and our server was incredible. We will be back!

The Rabbit Hole is one of those places that takes you by surprise, in the best way possible. It’s got a cozy, intimate vibe with an almost hidden gem feel, perfect for a casual hangout or a special treat. But let’s talk about their Bavarian pretzel rods because, honestly, they deserve a review all their own. These pretzels are orgasmic. The Rabbit Hole’s Bavarian pretzel rods get even better with their house-made white cheddar cheese sauce, which is served warm and absolutely divine. The sauce has this smooth, velvety texture that’s just the right balance of creamy and sharp. What really sets it apart, though, is the perfect level of saltiness—it complements the pretzels without overpowering them.

A good place for a cup of coffee in Harpers Ferry I recently visited Harpers Ferry with family. As with most trips we went in search of the history, the sights and a good cup of tea and coffee for the various members in the group. The town is part of the park service and most people park at the visitors center and take the shuttle bus into the town. There is a parking lot but quickly fills up because of the popularity. This shop is about a block and a half up high street from John Brown’s fort. Battle Grounds Bakery and Coffee is like an old time shop with the hand-painted sign outside to wood floor, brick entryway, and swinging screen door. It seemed a welcoming and friendly spot from the moment you walk in. The staff was friendly and helpful, at teh counter located near the back of the space. Several in our party ordered coffee and a few ordered tea. There were plenty of choices for our different tastes. You can get a simple drip coffee, a cold brew, or an espresso drink like a cappuccino or latte. All the drinks were made fresh. They also offer fresh breads, muffins, croissants, and cookies that is baked daily. If you happen to be in the area and want to get a good cup of coffee, then I would recommend that this is a good place to stop and get a caffeinated beverage of your choice. Enjoy it as you walk around the city and enjoy the town.

Despite the government’s snow warning shutting down most restaurants and shops, this café remained open and we catch before closing , welcoming us with warm hospitality. Their dedication to service, even in challenging conditions, truly stood out. We ordered a latte, hot chocolate, and a chocolate chip cookie. While we didn’t sit inside, the cozy atmosphere, beautifully decorated for Valentine’s Day, added to the experience. The hot chocolate had a rich, satisfying density, and the cookie, though a bit heavy, was generously portioned and delicious. The service was friendly and efficient, making us feel valued despite our small order. While the food wasn’t exceptional, the overall experience and warm ambiance made this place worth visiting. A solid 4-star spot that deserves recognition for its dedication to customers!

A tasty breakfast sandwich and juice. It was too chilly to sit outside, so we ate at the counter. In addition to coffee, they offer a variety of bakery items, lunch sandwiches and salads along with ice cream. They do close at 5. Parking in Harpers Ferry is very limited, with some pay parking near the train station.

Visited back in August while enroute to Maine from Louisiana - To start it off, this was probably the best iced coffee I had drank in years. While waiting on my sandwich to be made, I had already consumed maybe half of the IC, and I made the decision to get another for the road since it was so fantastic - but the incredible service at this establishment offered a free refill on my iced coffee (I've never had that offered anywhere else), and to beat the band the homemade sandwich ended up having some of the best bacon I've ever had. Maybe I was just really hungry when I visited here, but I truly think the food + service is some of the best I've found in my travels around the country. Love Harpers Ferry! Thanks for making the experience great.

Just had breakfast there. We loved it. The breakfast options come with 3 choices of bread (croissant, sourdough or bagel). Great deal for the price. The coffee and hot cider were delicious too. And the staff is super friendly.

We're currently in Harper's Ferry and needed to get lunch. We're actually sitting at a table here right now. First off, what a cool idea to have a pizza place in a train car. So neat. The place is very cool. But how is the food? Spoiler alert: great. Firstly, we ordered a large pepperoni and personal Godmother pizza. The server gave us a large Godmother and didn't charge us and gave us an order of mozzarella sticks. The pizza was outstanding. Our server's name was Jessica. Go see her, she's incredible and very nice. Please stop by if you're in town and try this place out.

Stopped in for lunch. You have to walk up a bucket of steps to go inside. It's definitely not handicap accessible. It was very hot inside the restaurant. The food was delicious. My friend had to go ask about her French fries. Staff forgot to cook the french fries. After getting the French fries. Had to go around to other tables for ketchup. Most the ketchup bottles were empty. Staff didn't ask if we needed anything after bringing our salads. Staff didn't check on us to see if we needed a refill. Cute little restaurant.

I would give zero stars, but the service was good. We stopped in for dinner after seeing how crowded it was around lunch time. We love pizza, so both ordered a small size (~$13/each) of a regular pepperoni and a Leo. The pizzas that came out tasted basically like Lunchables pizza. The dough appears to be premade crusts, perhaps frozen. The toppings were fine but it was just terrible pizza. The pesto on mine was good. If you come here, leave the pizza to the kids and get a sandwich or something.

**Must read before going there** Horrible experience! Picture of the gross food attached! Today we went there after our hike from the herpers ferry. The customer servise was really very slow. It took a lot of time, but when the food came we were disappointed. They served old cold potato chips, even if they claim in the menu it will be fresh cut but it was not! Those chips were old and double friend also when they served, it was cold! There was no salt at all! We asked for salt and it came 5 minutes later. The most disgusting part of the food was we found "hair" in our sub sandwitch. It was so gross! The service was really very bad! Will never go there and never recommend any of my friends. We enjoyed the hike but it ended with a horrible experience like this! When we reported, they did not take the money of the bad foods, but what is the point here! It ruined part of our trip, and after waiting for so long, we lost the apetite.

our food was amazing. the crust of our pizza was great and my chicken bacon ranch sub was awesome. there’s a little shop inside the restaurant with sauces and candy type items. service was mid but the food was great.
Morgan D — Google review
I never leave reviews, but today was not that great. I think I've never had such experience with food in the restaurant, for paying $30 per pizza and two drinks. We got a severely burnt pizza. Plus, we were the only customers they had, and they had like 4 or 5 workers there, with just one girl doing the job. So it was sad, the whole pizza was not eatable. I usually don't like when people just leave bad reviews, since all people have different tastes in food, but burnt pizza? Like almost black on the other side...

Isabella’s Pizza & Subs. The Pizza and Chicken Stripes was Hot but the flavor wasn’t the greatest taste in flavor. Staff was welcoming, friendly and helpful.

The history of this town is situated close to the heart of the Civil War, where the North and South clashed. It is located in proximity to the renowned Harpers Ferry WV, with Bolivar being a quaint town nestled above this historical district. This place exudes charm and offers a delightful lunch experience. Notably, they provide the kind gesture of serving cold ice water, which was once an integral part of American culture.
We loved it here! It had a country/hippie cozy charm to it. Food was amazing. Small menu but each food choice seemed very well thought out and packed with flavor. We got the lamb meatball salad and shrimp and grits and my husband practically licked his plate clean. My dtr has celiac so we were going to get the shrimp linguine but they were out of Zucchini noodles. She was able to get a salad option instead. Will definitely dine here again. Our Server Tom went over and beyond!

I took out their ice latte before going hiking. It was my first time at Harper’s Ferry. I think this is almost the only spot you will not be charged for street parking. Their latte was good - I do not know how to elaborate it but it’s like a hipster coffee. Poor description but the only one I’ve got. It has a cozy feel and the staffs were very friendly. Their restroom was maintained clean too. There is a wine store area where glasses are hung upside down. The glasses did not look entirely clean but I did not go there to drink so… just sharing my observation.
JAEIN S — Google review
First I want to preface this by saying the food was incredible and the staff were very friendly and courteous. However, although we were seated immediately and provided water, it took around 15-20 minutes for someone to come take our order, then, an additional ~25 minutes for us to receive our appetizer (a cheese plate). As we were waiting for our appetizer, we saw another couple abruptly leave, expressing frustration that they had not even had their order taken. Although the food was exceptional, we would not consider returning if it would mean a similar wait time.
Luis L — Google review
Me and my family went to Harper’s ferry 2 weeks ago for the day to visit a wine bar and grab food. The host said all tables were reserved inside even though it was empty so he sat us outside in the alley. Once we arrived in the alley we had to rearrange the furniture and we would’ve rather you said you can’t seat us than placing us in the alley way. Lots of lantern flies too but that’s out of your control. Lots of EMF vibes and lantern flies. So unprofessional
Hannah B — Google review
Tried to eat here and even got seated, but then two other groups that came after us were waited on before us, which really pissed us off. I was a server years ago and the one thing that you never do is wait on another table, let alone two tables, before a table that was seated first. We were never even greeted by our server, nor were drinks even offered. That is just bad customer service. Drove by about 30 minutes later, on our way to another restaurant, after walking around downtown for a bit and by the amount of vehicles parked outside, I'm sure they could've cared less that we walked out. I don't know if the food is good or bad, but the inside was nicely decorated.

What a nice little hidden gem. They have an excellent variety with wonderful staff. Ordered the mushroom quiche, (twice 😅) and the pesto panini. 😍 so delicious. I was really impressed with their curated wine that they have available. Ended up picking up an unoaked Chardonnay with beautiful hints of mango on the nose. Also picked up this local jam made by local veterans, which supports a great cause.. Go check them out if you’re in the area.

Super charming spot in Harper's Ferry. Stopped by for some coffees and snacks for the kids. Was not disappointed. Great service and vibe. They had a friendly pup wandering around and were spinning some records. Update: We Visited Harper's Ferry a year later and visited again. Still a great experience. We had breakfast and coffees. We'll definitely visit again.

We got a baked brie platter for an appetizer and the beef bolognese. Both were really good. The inside of the restaurant is decorated very nicely.

The Canal House Cafe is a charming family-owned restaurant housed in a historic stone building dating back to the 1820s. It's highly regarded by hikers staying at the Teahorse Hostel, along with other nearby dining spots like The Anvil Restaurant and Cannonball Deli. Whether you choose to dine indoors or outdoors, the atmosphere is delightful.
Amazing place that actually takes the pandemic seriously with true contactless interactions. Food was delicious and our waitress super sweet and attentive. Backyard seating was lovely though be warned only about half of it is protected from the elements if it rains. Will definitely return next time we're in Harpers Ferry.

Lovely dining, inside or outside. The atmosphere is great. Inside is a nice spot for small groups and cozy conversations. Outside there is a patio option and a very cool bench/bar style picnicing area under a live edge gazebo. The staff was very friendly, helpfull, and knowledgeable about the area. The food was good. This was our first time here, but I can recommend the tomato curry soup and the shredded chicken sliders for appetizers and the veggie wrap and steak fajita quesadilla. Big thumbs up over all. We'll definitely be back. Can't wait for wine coming in July!!
Christian A — Google review
Had a wonderful outdoor meal with my son. He had been here before and recommended it. I had the blue cheese burger and he had the salmon with risotto. Both absolutely fantastic and perfectly cooked. The side salad was delicious too, very fresh and colorful. Everything was contactless and safe and the waitress was very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!

Visited on Friday May 17. Family was in town from California and was passing through the area. Hungry, we decided to stop here for dinner. We were sat immediately. 10 minutes later, our server had still not greeted us, but the owner was walking around talking to tables. She approached us, apologized for the delay, and offered to get us all waters. Took another 5-10 minutes for us to get the waters. We had been there for about 20 minutes before we were able to place our orders... 4 of us ordered the hamburgers, and 1 of us ordered the grilled cheese, and a soup. We also got the chips and salsa appetizer. Fries were not an option (I'm guessing the place doesn't have a deep fryer) so we all got the potato ships + pickle for the side. No sauce comes on the burger, so we asked for ketchup, mayo, and barbecue sauce. Took about 10 minutes for the chips and salsa to come out- the salsa itself was passable, but the chips were very clearly store bought and from a bag. First red flag- frying chips takes about 30 seconds and are infinitely better. Long story short.... we didn't get our burgers until about an hour after ordering. Absurd. 4 burgers and a grilled cheese should take about 10-15 minutes tops, those things do not take long to cook. We each ordered ours medium- but each was cooked differently. Only one was actually medium, the others were all medium well- well (mine was about as brown as you can get). Meat was poorly seasoned (why don't they put the steak seasoning they advertise on their burgers). Server didn't bring the barbecue with the order... asked if we still wanted it. Yeesh. It's not hard to grab a quick side of a sauce, and asking the table if they want something they asked for after their food took an hour is a bit ridiculous. Hungry and pressed for time not wanting to wait another 10 minutes for a side of sauce, we answered no. The potato chips were a bit stale. The portion of chips provided was a bit small. The grilled cheese sandwich cost the same as the burger, and wasn't nearly big enough to justify the cost- consider bumping the price down from $12 to $10. Invest in a small deep fryer and make thin cut fries, sweet potato fries, and tortilla chips to order- selling store brand chips at a sit down restaurant is a bit of a let down. We never got the soup. I'm surprised by the high reviews this place has. It definitely has potential- but they need to revise their ticket system, reorganize their kitchen, menu, and retrain their cook staff to improve efficiency- and for heavens sake, if the food takes an hour, you need to be offering free dessert, appetizer, or some kind of discount. Reputation is everything for a small family owned restaurant, and bad experiences like this on a night that really didn't feel too busy are un excusable. The owner seemed nice enough as well as the waiter. There's just plenty of room for growth.

The Canal House is fantastic!! Not only do they have the best service around but, their food is amazing!! They offer a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, and wonderful food! Hands down the best restaurant around! We are already planning our next visit.

The Canal House Cafe has become a regular stop with every visit to Harper’s Ferry. Not only a beautiful place, the people working here are friendly, the food and drinks are phenomenal, and even during COVID times they have an incredibly cute, tree-shaded yard to sit and enjoy your meal in. This is also a walk down the hill to the historic center of Harper’s Ferry, (where parking is far more scarce!) and on the walk there are plenty of additional cute shops, stops, and history, which only add to the charm and richness of your visit! They also do have vegan and vegetarian options for anyone looking for plant-based options. 😊

Authentic without being kitsch. The food does take a little while to cook but that's because it's fresh and well worth the wait. The staff is very pleasant and welcoming. Get the pepperoni roll.

Went on a two week trip to the US visiting NYC, DC, VA, MD and DE. Snallygaster’s Cafe and Wine Bar was hands down the best restaurant I visited. Had no idea about the place but it was one of the few places open near Haper’s Ferry after a long day trip. Place was casual and unassuming but very homey. Servers were pleasant, knowledgeable and seemed happy to be there. Had the Crab Cake with Orzo special and Pulled Pork with Mushroom Risotto. The food was fresh, presented beautifully without being too pretentious and priced really well. Visiting again in June and this is definitely the only restaurant I would come back to.

I love this restaurant! The food is outstanding and the food choices are creative and unique. My wife had the beef pot roast with risotto and I had the egg and chicken Caesar salad. Caesar salad is one of my all time favorite foods and they did a fantastic job with the chicken being very flavorful. The beef pot roast with risotto was delicious and my wife enjoyed it very much (I also got to try it and was blown away by the taste). We took advantage of their cocktail menu and talented bartenders to have some fantastic drinks to accompany our meals. The restaurant has all kinds of groovy old time artifacts to make for a cool vibe. The staff is made up of friendly locals who are there to make sure you have a great experience. I highly recommend this restaurant. My wife and I left there with grins from ear to ear. I know that sounds impossible but I assure In that for a period of time it happened!

They were out of chicken, lamb meatballs, ice cream and the special. My husband got a beet salad. Not enough beets walnuts or feta in the salad. Come to think of it…. There was not enough lettuce either! How can you be out of ice cream! That affects 3 out of four of their desserts!

Located in the little village of Bolivar, West Virginia. Just a stone throw from Harpers Ferry. The two of us ordered Old Fashions from the build your own ingredient menu. Choices were offered between bourbon & rye and 3 different bitter flavors. The bartender took the time to verify our selection. After a nice chat, the cocktails placed before us had the most delicious blend of ingredients and we each enjoyed one of the best Old Fashion of all time. We arrived at 7pm and unfortunately 2 of the main course menu items were not available due to being sold out. Our next choices of 1. Snally’s Shrimp & Grits and 2. Red Pepper and Pesto were delicious. We did begin the meal with the Bruschetta and it was excellent! We even bought a couple of reasonably priced bottles of wine from the wine shop located at the back of the restaurant. Great overall service and atmosphere.

St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church is a stunning Victorian Gothic church in Harpers Ferry, dating back to 1833. It boasts stained-glass windows, a dramatic spire, and a stone facade. This historic building survived the Civil War and offers a commanding view of the surrounding mountains and forests. Visitors can also explore Thomas Jefferson's Rock via a footpath from the church. The church is known for its intricate stained glass, solid doors, and historical significance.
We arrived too late to go inside. The church is impressive on the outside. We plan on coming back one day so that we can see the inside. Seeing the church in January with snow made it more special.

Beautiful church with such history! Came for the 9:30 mass and loved the community and reverence. Visitors definitely need to plan to park off site and walk over.

This is a very beautiful church, and at first I thought it was just a piece of history, but turns out the hold mass every Sunday. A masterpiece of craftsmanship indeed. Went here on a 4h trip and everyone was talking about how beautiful it was even if they weren't Catholic. I'm Catholic and this is a church I would go to. If you ever find yourself in Harper's ferry, come to church here and admire the beauty and the mass.

Beautiful church with a commanding view of both rivers. Wonderful stone front, intricate stained glass and very solid doors. Be aware that services seem to only be on Sundays. As others have noted, there is no local parking, you will need to park at the bottom of the hill in one of the lots and walk up.

A decent restaurant with good food and a nice staff but slow service This restaurant is easy to find in Harpers Ferry as it is right across from the train station on the lower road. It has a laid-back feel and an open door. The restaurant has two floors with self-seating, and we chose a table on the lower level. It was cool inside, though the doors were open to the outside, which added to the casual atmosphere. There only seemed to be one waitress handling all the tables, and while she worked hard and did a great job, the service was understandably slow and the tables were not cleaned very quickly once people left. One thing that stood out to me was how pet-friendly the place is—there was even a dog at a table on the porch. The menu offers classic American fare, like sandwiches and burgers. I had a BLT with fries, and both were very good. They were fresh, well-made, and satisfying. The prices were reasonable with most entrees being between $14 and $20 and my BLT was $12 . It’s not fast service, but if you have a little time and want a relaxed, friendly environment, Almost Heaven is a nice choice for a meal in Harpers Ferry.

A casual & fun place with entrances on both High St. (the town's main street) and Potomac St. (where the parking is located). The menu offers typical pub-grub, and burger and wings we had were very good. The service was very friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was enjoyable. All-in-all a good place to grab a bite to eat.

Anyone visiting Harper's Ferry needs to stop here and have their Pub Burger. This is one of the best burgers going. Paired with a local brew hit the spot! Service was fantastic. Atmosphere reflected old Harper's Ferry.

Our server was amazing young lady doing her best as the only server here. She was doing almost everything from what I could see besides cooking. There had to be about 8 tables and she was attentive to them all. It is a cool building. The food was very mediocre. Pub Burger/ fries my husband ordered and Fried green beens/spinach dip for me. Not sure what type of dip that was but I had better from the grocery store.
Tia T — Google review
We ordered drinks and an app to start. Our server brought us the wrong beer, but it ended up being tasty anyways so we said nothing. The app we ordered was the crab dip. The dip and bread were good but served in a styrofoam cup that was microwaved and burned so the whole bottom of the dip was gross. We were going to order entrees but our server never came back. We sat there with our empty plates and drinks at the edge of the table for quite a while. Our server to not be found and the other server completely ignoring us, even after trying to flag her down. This was an early Sunday morning and it was not that busy. We're really patient (prob too much, tbh) and this was bad enough for me to leave a review. I know I would at least like to have known about microwaved styrofoam $15 crab dip ahead of time. There's better places to eat next door, on either side.

One of the best in Harper’s ferry! Kid friendly - dog friendly outside - plenty of seating. Sitting at the bar guarantees best service.

We had such a great experience at Almost Heaven in Harpers Ferry! Our server, Dominique, was absolutely wonderful — super friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. The drinks were really good, but honestly, the food stole the show — everything came out fresh, hot, and full of flavor. You can tell they take pride in what they serve. Big thanks to Dominique for making our visit even better — we’ll definitely be back!

Creamy Creations is a delightful destination that promises a fun-filled experience, whether you've just enjoyed a day on the water or tackled an adventurous hike. Located just across the Potomac River in Harpers Ferry, this charming walk-up ice cream shop offers an array of unique hand-dipped flavors alongside classic favorites. The friendly staff encourages you to sample their offerings if you're having trouble deciding.
Our party of four enjoyed two cones and two malts, all were delicious. I favored the banana pudding malt. Our service was quick and friendly. They have several tables for enjoying your food at. However, we strolled through the historic site. Remember, there are no trash cans in the park...take your trash with you.

Great ice cream, polite staff, and reasonably priced. Unfortunately they did not have food options available. Also (perhaps due to pending closure based on for sale signs?), the seating area was very dirty and not usable. Massive portion sized and hot fudge topping is unique.

One of the best ice creams ever — surprising to find it in a small and charming town like Harpers Ferry. Worth a special trip for the ice cream and the view.
Motty S — Google review
We came here with our kids excited for ice cream, but the experience was extremely disappointing. After waiting in line for 45 minutes, the employee finally told us that they were doing a shift change and wouldn’t be serving ice cream for another 30 minutes. What made it worse was that instead of letting people in line know ahead of time, they allowed us (and everyone else) to wait all that time just to be turned away. A little communication could have saved families from wasting nearly an hour standing in line. Very poor customer service and an unnecessary letdown.

The young lady that took our order was nice, but she never washed her hands when she was going back and forth in between customers touching the card reader. She grabbed my sisters ice cream cone with her dirty hands, and she couldn’t eat.

Coach House Bar & Grill is a welcoming establishment that offers modern American dishes in a beautiful, rustic setting. It's known for its cozy and inviting atmosphere where you can enjoy favorites like baked brie, spinach dip, turkey and brie wrap, and classic cheeseburgers. While some visitors have noted occasional service issues during peak times, the overall experience is positive with good food and friendly servers.
Beautiful location and views. The Brie in honey was exceptional. The burgers were okay. The waiter let us know they couldn’t do rare or medium. The garnish was great. We’re excited to come back and try other dishes. Drinks were good. Pups got a water dish. Staff is lovely.

Delicious Food and Great Atmosphere! The hummus and spinach dip were fresh and flavorful, a great way to start the meal. The surf and turf burger was outstanding—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The shrimp Caesar salad was also delicious, with fresh ingredients and well-balanced dressing. The restaurant has a charming retro house vibe, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. Highly recommended!

After a day of hiking around Harpers Ferry, I stopped by the Coach House Bar & Grill, and it was the perfect way to unwind. I ordered the grilled chicken wrap with potato wedges and also tried the Philly cheeseburger, not bad at all. The wrap was fresh and flavorful, and the potato wedges were perfectly seasoned and crispy. The Philly burger was juicy, cheesy, and hit all the right notes. The atmosphere was casual and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Great spot for a post-hike meal with hearty portions and reasonable prices. Definitely recommend stopping here if you're in the area!

Dog friendly outdoor patio/bar. The outdoor area had a good sized patio and bar. Also had fans a long one wall which offered a welcome breeze on a very hot day. Drinks and the selection was plentiful, including frozen slushies. Food and service were fine though at times a little slow... Took a strange length of time for the kitchen to make a plate of hummus and pita bread, considering it wasn't busy. This place is on Potomac Street, so if you're coming from the bridge or the Maryland Heights trail, this is a good spot to take a breather.

A delightful pub that we visited yesterday for a refreshing drink. Today we returned to the outside eating area for drinks and an appetizer. The outdoor setting is nice with plenty of umbrellas and fans to supplement the breeze. The appetizer was tasty and the service was good. When you visit Harpers Ferry you will find parking difficult. Most people park at the visitor center and take the shuttle into town.

bartender was swamped but crushing it! our drinks were good and strong. bf loved his burger. I didn't like the "marinara" in the burrata because it had peppers... marinara should just be tomatoes and some spices. but i still ate it. beautiful outdoor area

We enjoyed an excellent shrimp cocktail with house made sauce. Kids had the spaghetti and meatballs, sauce was very flavorful, they loved it. Wife and I had had chicken Greek salads, both were very good portions. Big chuncks of feta and tasty chicken. Excellent wait staff and overall great place to have a meal.

Food was delicious on our side Waited a bit but was worth it We had the chicken wrap And a pastrami sandwich They have to serve a bit faster Was not a lot people at the time and was already 4 pm but when they full it may take a while I saw a few people leaving since they were taking longer for the service

I loved this Airbnb!! The owner Chrissy was amazing and quick to respond. It was great walking distance from a nice bar “The Barn” and restaurant “Snallygasters”. I would encourage anyone to book through air bnb directly. I needed to alter my reservation at last minute and both the owner and I had issues with booking.com sending it to a third party called agoda.com that couldn’t seem to resolve the issue. Otherwise HIGHLY recommend this location.

Absolutely stunning little farm! The lavender is heavenly and the views of the river are breathtaking. Christie is an absolute delight - so kind and welcoming - and an amazing artist and interior designer! Her pets are adorable pets were so welcoming as well. The entire farm is beautiful. This was one of those rare stays where the location and the owner exceeded expectations. The place is beautiful -- with a wonderful view of the river -- and Christie could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Bonus: her two dogs who were super friendly and greeted me enthusiastically every day. This was a DIY writing retreat for me, and it could not have ben more perfect in that respect. This was early spring with an abundance of daffodils and forsythia. I'd love to stay here in other seasons. It is a very special place!

Maryland Heights is a popular hiking destination in Harpers Ferry, offering breathtaking views of the town and its surroundings. The trail, though challenging at times, leads to an observation point with elevated views of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers. It's a pet-friendly area, but keep in mind that dogs are not allowed on the free shuttle bus.
Excellent place to come for a hiking. We'll organize a very clean hike trail. It's all flat paths about 15 to 20 feet wide. Steep hill going up ND pleasant slope coming back. Except for the slope going uphill, all the rest is a breeze. It's hard and takes all.out of you but keep it to study and before you know it you are up. No food or water is available on the trail. 3.5 hours are going up and 45 minutes coming down. Beautiful view from the top.

Maryland Heights Trailhead is a great trail to hike it's well maintained and great landmarks to see and the view of Harpers Ferry from the lookout just splendid, on this trail it's a bit difficult to find a parking lot near the town and the climb up to the mountain has a hard steep bring enough water and rest ones in a while. Seeing the train pass by was amazing stay safe and look out on the trails.

Maryland Heights is a must-do hike! We parked at the Harpers Ferry Visitor Center and took the free shuttle down to the trailhead, which made parking super convenient. The hike took us about 4 hours round trip and was medium intensity with a good amount of elevation — an excellent cardio workout. The view from the top is stunning, overlooking Harpers Ferry and the rivers. We carried food and had a picnic at the summit, which made the experience even more special. Many nice restaurants with the river view at Harper’s Ferry after the hike. Overall, a fantastic hike with convenient access, great exercise, and a very rewarding finish.

It was a bit confusing to find the walking path. We'd been here once before, and the bridge was closed. There was no sign when we walked across the bridge, so I was confused and didn't know which way to go. So, we came back again today, ready to hike! The stairs were open for us to pass through the pathways. So now I'm telling you! 1. Set your map to the "railroad parking path." It's in the old town, behind The Rabbit Hole restaurant. 2. Then, walk across the bridge, and you'll see the stairs going down; turn left. 3. Keep walking until you see the sign. Cross that small bridge (I have a picture). 4. Then you can enjoy your walk. Going up took me 95 minutes, and walking down took about 30 minutes. 5. It's quite steep, so grab a stick on the way up. Prepare yourself! I wanted to challenge myself, so I walked, and woah! I made it! Today it's very windy, 40 km/hr. Okay, enjoy! I went on Halloween day 2025.

~40 mins hike. Not too strenuous; steep climb but you can take rests on the way. Follow the sign that says “Maryland heights” from Harpers ferry. Parking available at the visitor center or Train station. 20$ for the parking that is valid for 3 consecutive days. Some street parkings are available too but are always occupied. After returning back, there are cute places where you can visit, relax and amazing places where you can eat in the town. The town looks like one from the 80s.
Abhish K — Google review
Beautiful landscape view from the top and the uphill elevation hike is worth..This place have many options for accomodation and eateries around.
Hemanth K — Google review
There is no parking at the trail head. Be sure to park in Harpers Ferry National Park across the river in West Virginia and walk the pedestrian bridge to begin your hike. The National Park Service manages the 3 most significant sized parking lots in the area. Maryland Heights is the most popular mountain-like hike in the area and part of Harpers Ferry National Park with great views of the rivers and the historic town of Harper's Ferry WV from the Overlook. It is always recommended to park at the largest lot at 171 Shoreline Drive to avoid the often times full or highly congested Lower Town area of Harper Ferry (especially on the weekends) and simply take the shuttle to town. Speak with Park Staff at the contact station for other hikes in the area and the different options/routes one can take while hiking Maryland Heights. Plan for around a 4.5-5 mile round trip hike to see the Overlook or closer to a 6.5-7 mile round trip hike if hiking to the Overlook and adding the Stone Fort (blue blaze hike) to your hike.

Nestled in the heart of Harpers Ferry, The Coffee Mill is a charming and inviting spot to unwind. This cozy cafe offers an array of delectable treats, including top-notch espresso and a variety of mouthwatering meal options such as chicken salad sandwiches, hot dogs, chicken tenders, apple pie, cinnamon buns, and an assortment of cookies. Visitors rave about the delicious burgers with perfectly toasted buns and fantastic black bean burger.
Went here for burgers at lunch. The burgers were not huge, but they were wonderful. Buns were toasted, and the black bean burger was fantastic. Fries were sprinkled with Old Bay seasoning and were perfectly fried. Had an iced mocha at a reasonable price. Saw people with sundaes - those sundaes looked good. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised. There seem to have been some older, rough reviews, and I’m glad we didn’t look at those first before trying the place.

Carrot cake was good, but can't recommend the latte nor 'mango smoothie', which hadn't seen real fruit. Worst of all, the amount of single-use cups, plates and cutlery this place provides/uses is absolutely horrible. And they don't even bother to recycle the tons of waste they produce.

Would not recommend this place. We came in for custard and coffee. When we asked for some they rudely told us they don’t sell custard despite the sign on the building that states they do. They could have simple said sorry we don’t. We also got a coffee and asked for oat milk and the cashier again was rude in stating they didn’t have it. The entire time we were greeted with mean looks for what reason I have no clue. The coffee was burnt and watery as well. You can find better coffee and people who are not unnecessarily nasty else where.

Stopped here to grab some ice cream, ended up leaving with ice cream and a hat! Super friendly staff, were allowing people a small sample of 1 flavor since they had some more strange ones like midnight caramel which is what I got! Would recommend for their ice cream at least, didn't try the food or coffee.

Absolutely do not recommend this place. It is an unapologetic tourist trap. This place is insanely overpriced for what they serve. Mango smoothie tasted like a mango jell-o slushie. The ice chunks were so big I was chewing on them. The fact that it was $8.99 is crazy. We also got an iced tea that was filled all the way to the top with ice. Also very expensive for tea. We asked for at least a partial refill of the tea and staff ignored us until we left. We were very kind and respectful and also tipped so the experience was very disappointing.

John Brown's Fort is a historic brick firehouse in Harpers Ferry, known for its connection to the abolitionist John Brown and his failed raid on the armory in 1859. This event is considered to have escalated tensions between the Union and Confederacy, ultimately leading to the start of the Civil War. The fort held by Brown and his army for three days has become a landmark site, offering visitors an opportunity to step inside and imagine the events that unfolded there.
The fort museum is a 3 hour experience with different educational videos and exhibits. Right now it’s under some light renovation on the outside so the entrance is at the rear. Went on a weekday, Harpers Ferry was busy with school children for a field trip. But…definitely not as busy as the weekend! And all of the kids were very respectful, unlike some others school trips I’ve encountered. Parking is either downtown or 2 miles away at the Harpers Ferry National Park visitor center. You can take a shuttle from there or walk 2 miles along the Shenandoah river to all the historical attractions. You do have to pay to park. Unless you have a national park pass then it’s free at the visitor center, but you have to shuttle or walk.
Kaitlyn N — Google review
John Brown's fort and Harper's Ferry are in the same place. This is a national park so if you have one of those America the Beautiful passes it is free. Otherwise you have to pay per car to get in. We have a pass so I didn't check the prices. This place has tons of great hiking. The Potomac and Shenandoah rivers border it. We went in April and there were tons of gnats and tiny bugs that tried to fly in all your exposed holes. Ugh. Bring a fan or get a pamphlet to fan the bugs away! There is A LOT of walking involved. You need to go to the visitor center and then catch a bus to the city center. They run every 15 mins. Even after you get to the city there is a lot of walking up an incline to see all the small museums, stores, and restaurants. You can drive to the city but there is extremely limited street parking. At 2pm there was a park ranger that gave an hour long educational speech about John Brown. Pretty interesting.

John Brown’s Fort-firehouse, is a historic landmark tied to the famous 1859 raid led by abolitionist John Brown. Although the fort has been moved a few times, the structure has been well-preserved and offers visitors a glimpse into the past. During my visit, the staff was super friendly, knowledgeable, and I was allowed to take a photo of my Dalmatians in front of the firehouse, which added a memorable touch to my experience. For history buffs and anyone visiting Harpers Ferry, John Brown’s Fort is a must-see. Despite not standing in its original spot, it remains an enduring symbol of American history and the struggle for freedom.

Store
True Treats Historic Candy, located in Harpers Ferry, is a unique and research-based historic candy shop that offers a wide range of candies from different eras. The store prides itself on providing authentic and memorable experiences by sourcing selections from experts or original sources. Visitors can find candies dating back to Biblical times as well as modern nostalgic varieties like Sugar Daddies and Jaw Breakers. The shop also features a candy-as-medicine section and uses old recipes to make their wares.
This old-time candy store is so much fun. They have different eras of candy in different parts of the store. We bought Turkish delight, pixie sticks, satellite wafers, and red licorice laces. The first picture is my husband putting a thumbtack on the world map. He placed a tack on Morocco to show a Moroccan visitor was in the store. The name of the candy store is called True Treats. Customer service was amazing. In Harpers Ferry.

We love this store. We visited on a weekday evening. They have candies from all over the country. If you can imagine it, they have it. From I love you lollipops to chocolate covered Twinkies on a stick. We bought candied almonds, a mixed bag of candies and a large stick of bubblegum.
Amber C — Google review
I was excited to visit after reading reviews and even drove over 4 hours to get here, but my experience was extremely disappointing. My husband and I were not greeted at all, though other customers who came in after us were warmly welcomed. When I asked about Turkish taffy, staff were dismissive- one woman stomped off, silently pointed and walked away. At checkout, my items were tossed into a bag with no friendliness whatsoever. The whole time, I felt ignored and unwanted, like my business didn’t matter. Employees often forget that it’s paying customers who make their salaries possible. Many candies here can be found at the dollar store or Five below, just repackaged and overpriced, though some items are unique. In the end, my visit was anything but a true treat-it left a bitter taste, like the nastiest candy you’d never want to try again!
Crystal J — Google review
Worth a stop if you have a sweet tooth! They have a wide variety of treats, teas, fudge and even a little cinema in the back playing three stooges the day we visited. The customer service was great and the young lady was very helpful to all the other patrons. Small seating area, dog friendly, and a map on the wall to pin where you are visiting from.

We absolutely loved this candy shop. There is a good mix of their own homemade historic candy as well as favorites from larger brands that you don’t see as often anymore.

This was such a fun stop. Just to browse, or to get something you forgot they used to sell. It was a trip down memory lane seeing the historic candy and novelties that go back many years. And seeing candies that previous generations enjoyed.

This place is amazing! A variety of vintage candies and homemade stuff, all delicious! You have to see it to believe it! I was in heaven. I'm embarrassed to say that I spent $80 in a candy shop! So worth it, though! Gets a little crowded, but the checkout line moved quickly. Can't wait to visit again sometime!

First time in that area, was a bit overwhelming with the amount of people going through the historic sites, Legendary John Brown location. The store was packed with people as well. Lots of old fashion candy as well. Looks like only the cashier at the register. I purchase candy cigarettes for my grand daughter that requested them. Total $8.50 and I told her to keep the $1.50 . Will go back, just watch your head coming off the street and walking to the basement stairs entrance. Lots of walking, no parking in the area, my wife drive around until I came out. Cell phone was dead (VerizOn)

Cannonball Deli is a vibrant deli in Lower Town that offers fast-casual American cuisine, including generously filled subs and fresh salads. The restaurant is popular for its overstuffed sandwiches, burgers, soul-warming ramen, and chili. It's also known for its vegan options like creamy mac and cheese and chili-cheese brat. Locals love this spot for its hand-dipped ice cream, homemade burgers, desserts, hearty subs, and generous pasta servings.
Got lunch here with friends after hiking to the Harper's Ferry overlook. Great serving size and our orders came with chips and salad. Amazing service, very friendly and got our food to us quickly. Went back later in the afternoon for ice cream. Hit the spot both times, highly recommend!

Looking for a place for lunch during a day trip to Harpers Ferry, we somewhat stumbled upon Cannonball Deli but were glad we did. They have both indoor seating (off the High St. entrance) and outdoor seating (off the Potomac St. entrance). Our server was very friendly and attentive. The food was excellent. We especially recommend the Chapli Kebab Wrap and the Gyro Salad, the latter coming with a very generous portion of gyro meat.

Enjoyed a tasty kebab wrap at this quaint eatery in Harper's Ferry. They were super busy, so food did take a little while, but the small staff was attentive and tried to keep me informed. Generous portions and good value!

My wife and I went here and ordered a gyro and a chapli kabob wrap. Both were amazing! Then we each had some ice cream which we also enjoyed. We went to the Cannonball deli because of their unique offering for the area. Most places were way crowded, loud, and were serving expensive hamburgers and beer. If that is your thing great. It’s not ours. This place was quiet, the service friendly and attentive, and the food delicious. If you like some variety of food in a place where you can really enjoy a quiet conversation with your company then give this place a try. It is tucked away like a hidden gem, but when you find it enjoy its sparkle.

Delicious gyro. Came with a nice fresh Greek salad and plenty of potato chips. They did not skimp on anything. The son is a very friendly young man.

Best food, best service, best prices! They have both indoor seating and an outdoor patio, which, unfortunately, we did not notice.. We ordered a Philly cheesesteak sub - it came with chips and a very fresh salad. The roll was warm and perfectly crispy! I even came back later for ice cream because they have the best prices around!🍦🥙 Thank you!!:)

Our group ate a burger, lamb gyro and chicken gyro. Burger looked like it was a frozen patty, but the lamb and chicken were cooked perfectly. The gyro itself was missing flavor from some of the things I typically enjoy such as cucumber, onion and tomato. I ended up putting the side salad on the gyro filling and it was excellent together. Service was good/fine. All in, good deal for price to food ratio but will probably try somewhere else next time.

Food is fresh and tasty. My daughter and I stopped for a quick lunch after beautiful hike. The place is so cozy we ended up having long lunch. We both ordered falafel wrap. The side salad is tasty, just take it easy on the dressing. Dressing is tasty, but bit sour to our liking. The tortilla used for the wrap is thick and grilled with cheese on top, going perfectly with the filling.

Located within a National Historical Park, this museum provides a comprehensive exploration of John Brown's history and is a must-visit for history enthusiasts.
This place really brings into perspective the cultural and historical significance of John Brown and his sacrifices. Theres a qr code that brings up audio explaining many of the scenes.

an odd little place to stop on your trip to harper’s ferry. entry is $5/person, but you can buy items in their small gift shop which count towards your ticket price. the worker told me the building is for sale, so go see it while you still can!

It was a fun time at this museum. While walking through the historical park there are plenty of informational plaques, but this took it to a new level. This was an immersive experience where you could visualize the events of John Brown's life, instead of just reading about them. My group loved this museum and we were so glad that we were able to go to it.

Not the highest quality wax figures, but the displays are very well done. The history lesson is also very interesting and is something most people likely don't know about American anti-slavery history. Very informative. Harper's Ferry is home to a lot of historical attractions and this is just one of them. $7 for adults, $6 for seniors/veterans. Six floors of displays depicting the life of John Brown and his anti-slavery raid on Harper's Ferry.

Amazing place! Kitsch in the best way. Friendly staff. JB Wax Museum>All the Smithsonians combined. $5 admission is deal of a lifetime. I would've paid my life savings to see Waxie JB.
Bill K — Google review
A good history lesson, and still just as creepy as I remember it being when I was in the fourth grade. My kids (10, 12, & 14) all enjoyed it. The upkeep of the building left much to be desired. There was an strong mildew odor throughout, despite obvious attempts to cover it with air fresheners. Lots of peeling wall paper and floors in need of cleaning or repair.
Kim B — Google review
The displays are in disrepair, the lighting is very bad such that you can hardly read the plaques on the wall, and and worst of all it's just kind of shabby. To boot, the displays aren't even that interesting. Several of the things on the wall seem just copied from the internet and printed with an inkjet printer. The best wax figure, John Brown with crazy eyes thrusting a bayonet, is visible from the street. You won't learn anything or get a good perspective on anything that you can't get from one of the many free museums around. If you like creepy wax dolls though you're in for a treat.

Embark on the Ghost Tour of Harpers Ferry for a spooky and educational evening in this historic town. Learn about the haunted tales of Civil War soldiers and sightings of John Brown's ghost from an entertaining and informative guide who is also a historian. The tour provides a unique way to experience Harpers Ferry at night, offering creepy stories alongside in-depth historical explanations. Despite the potential for stormy weather, the tour ensures an engaging experience by accommodating guests indoors when necessary.
Great way to experience harpers ferry at night, as most businesses and even restaurants are close right as it starts, not only will you hear some creepy stories you will learn lots of history as the guide is also a historian, so much of what you learn during the daytime at the museum is further explained and explored during the tour making it educational and fun. The guide is great at what he does and has a loud voice that projects well, he even brings some singing into the tour and gets everyone to interact. many of the stops have curbs or stone walls you can sit at if needed, you will need to go up some steep steps to get to the church.

Fantastic tour with the perfect mix of history and spooky stories! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining - and she had a beautiful singing voice! This was our first day in Harper’s Ferry and wrapping it up with this ghost tour was really the perfect way to end it.

This was a fantastic experience! Amelia was incredibly knowledgeable and experienced and even answered some questions I had about Saint Peter's Church, where the tour meets. It was very reasonably priced at $18 per person, so for my wife and I it cost $36. Lasted about an hour and a half. It was the highlight of our trip to Harper's Ferry and I highly recommend it to anyone who decides to visit the town. BTW, make sure you take pics in Hog Alley, my wife got lots of orbs there.
Harry S — Google review
We had a great time. Cash only, call ahead to reserve, meet up at the church, just about 2 hours. The walk is down then back up the hill. It's a good way to see town quiet as opposed to seeing it with the day tourists ... The downside is that everything else is closed at night. The tour caters equally well to "true believers" and casual tourists and is "kid friendly" even when touching on adult themes. Our guide led some singing, too.

Great tour. My 2 kids, wife, and I enjoyed it this past Saturday. You learn a lot about the history of Harpers Ferry too. One thing that was interesting was pictures we took of a green neon glow on Hog Alley. The same thing happen to someone else that I know who took pictures at the same spot. His looked like a person holding a green lantern. I attached my pictures. I would share his pictures if I had permission because you can really see a ghost starting on the roof and then walking across the street with same green color as in my photos, but looked like a person holding a lantern.

What a wonderful evening we had listening to the masterful way Mr. Garland wove history, music, and ghosts into our evening! Brilliant storyteller and historian and voice! Isabella's Pizza & Subs is a charming eatery situated in Downtown Harpers Ferry, known for its unique location inside an old caboose. This quaint diner is a staple in the area and offers delicious food with friendly service. Visitors appreciate the welcoming atmosphere and pet-friendly policy, making it a must-visit spot for both locals and tourists alike.
Cool little place across from the train tracks. The restaurant looked like a rail car. The food was perfect. The pizza wasn't too crunchy nor too doughy. It was cooked just right. Cheesy Bread was great as well. The staff was awesome and very attentive.
Jason T — Google review
I see a lot of negative things being said but I didn't experience any of that. Only thing I would say is my pizza was just a tad over cooked but I still enjoyed it. The seasoned fries were great. The waitress was great. I enjoyed the atmosphere, the music was enjoyable. My kids bacon cheese fries were good. Overall not bad at all.
Paul M — Google review
I've been wanting to try Isabella's since we moved to the area. I didn't have huge expectations but expected a lot better than what we received. We were greeted at all when we entered so we didn't know whether to sit or go to the counter. The food was horrendous. We started with the Cheese Arancini and they had absolutely no flavor. We ordered two 10" pizzas - The Matt and The Godfather. Both pizzas were significantly undercooked. The Matt had canned pineapple, which I didn't expect considering it's kind of peak pineapple season, and the chicken was GRAY and tasted bad. I literally picked all the toppings off except for the jalapenos in fear this was going to make me sick. My husband had The Godfather which he did not like. He said the sausage did not taste well and, overall, the pizza had little flavor. The waiter was running around taking care of inside and outside customers, while taking orders. We really did not see anyone else in the dining area other than two younger workers who brought the pizzas to the table, spilling grease all over the table, laughing and not being seen again, except on their phones through the openings. We did not mention anything to the waiter, as he only asked us if we needed anything in passing and we knew none of what we were experiencing had anything to do with him. I can only recommend the draft beer choices, hence the 2 stars. It was $70+ for three draft beers, our "app", and two personal pizzas. With prices like this, you would think the food would be decent - even the pineapple was flavorless! Very disappointed we paid for this meal. Update: After a response from the owner, I will clarify my concerns regarding the chicken. We did not think it was raw. Some of the pieces had a pork texture, which I do not eat, so that was concerning and other pieces tasted like they were old and/or spoiled. In addition, the reason for sharing the cost of our meal is that the quality of the ingredients and final product did not justify the price, in my opinion. We should have known by the last month of reviews (avg 2.625 stars) that we should have gone elsewhere but wanted to try something new.
Shelbi C — Google review
We came in with a group of 10, seeing the restaurant was empty probably should’ve been our first sign to leave. The food was pretty hit and miss, some were decent, some were terrible. The soft drinks tasted weird, the Carlisle pizza dough was undercooked, wings were overcooked. The prices were more expensive than we expected, around $27 for a large pizza, $14 for a small. The only good takeaway was the service, but good god it took so long for the food to come out.
Brandon L — Google review
This was a nice little family owned pizza shop. The pizza was delicious and they have Mr. Pibb instead of Dr. Pepper which was a pleasant surprise. The staff were very nice, it takes a little time for them to get to you but with a packed house they were doing their best. I would visit again in the future!
Jennifer H — Google review
I'm a hiker on the AT and Isabella's was the worst meal I have had. I ordered a chicken wrap and fries. What I received was a loosely thrown together wrap that I could not even pick up to eat without it falling apart. I had to ask for silverware to eat it. The fries were old and tough. I asked for the price of the fries to be removed and in doing so the price of my meal went from $12.95 to $14.95. I argued but to no avail. I texted the business with my complaint but no response. Maybe they do much better with their pizzas. In hindsight I should have refused to accept the meal but I had waited a long time to receive my order and I was hungry. Not a happy hiker here.
Frank H — Google review
2 stars because the pizza is actually good. Took a seat at the patio to order to-go, moved baskets off a dirty table with check money under it. Almost an hour later the baskets were still there with the money underneath! Ordered small pizza and 2 beers- should have known the cashier saying "I need to clock back in to take your order" was a red flag. Let the server know we were sitting outside once the pizza was ready. Brought my beer out to notice it was poured into a completely shattered glass- unsafe! Watched other tables walk out over excessive wait time. Pizza took 40 minutes, and only got it after coming inside to ask. I don't blame the teenage servers, but this isn't normal. Management needs to get a grip
David B — Google review
Went here and was not impressed. They were short staffed so totally fine to wait. However, once we got our food, the pizza was soaking wet on the bottom, it was undercooked, and not hot. The club was okay but not great. The pizza crust seemed like the precooked kind you get at Walmart. As a plus, the view from the outside seating area was very pretty.

Day 4

Off the beaten path
For day 4, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Maryland Heights Trailhead. Not quite as popular as Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 8 hours.

Maryland Heights Trailhead

4.7
(229)
Hiking area
Located in the historical town, Maryland Heights Trailhead offers a beautiful hike with great views of the town from the summit. The trail is relatively simple, with about three-quarters of the way up and then down for the last quarter. It takes roughly an hour to reach the summit, making it accessible even for those who are not particularly fit.
Beautiful sunrise hike! Parking and “open” time first, since that was what I was worried about going into this. I went for a sunrise hike, as in I wanted to be at the top when the sun came up (not wait for sunrise and then start. The trail’s webpage says it doesn’t open until sunrise, but nothing stopped me from starting early. Also, parking was a question, but the train station is indeed open 24 hours and I didn’t end up paying anything at all. I parked at the train station by 4:30am (only a few other cars parked there), walked to the bridge (ghost town vibes) and across the river (crossed in the dark which is creepy), then found my way to the trail once on the other side. I started up the mountain in the dark (also creepy). I didn’t see anything stirring as the sky started to lighten, but I realized I would’ve been more comfortable with a pocket knife. It looks like the kind of forest that might have at least a black bear, maybe even a mountain lion or something. But it was peaceful! I thought for sure I’d see other people with the same idea because of the holiday weekend and PERFECT weather that morning, but no one was around. This tells me I must’ve been breaking some law or something. Every comment says to get there early, avoid the crowds, avoid the heat, avoid the bugs. There was no one around! No heat, no bugs… just song birds and me. The hike itself was only difficult because I did a strenuous hike the day before. This Maryland Heights trail is mostly like being on a stair master. And when you’re trying to make it by a certain time (sunrise doesn’t wait), you can’t stop to rest. My quads were burning and about to cramp. But I’m getting old and I’m not as active these days. This was only a moderate hike. Once I got to the top it was beautiful! Quiet and peaceful. The falcons weren’t even awake yet. I sat for about 45 minutes, had a snack, took in the sites and fresh air. It was worth the trip! Halfway back down I finally saw another human. Then a couple more, then a couple more. Maybe I really should’ve waited for the trail to “open”? When I got back to the train station around 8am the parking lot was 95% full already. I didn’t have anyone ask me to pay for parking. I have a national park pass, but it stayed in my glove box the whole time. I was already a town over and eating breakfast when the crowds started hitting the trail.
M B — Google review
This trail is steep to put it lightly, it may say moderate on the signs but it is pretty tolling. There are no restrooms and no sources of water up there. My biggest issue with this trail is the lack of markings for the trails. There are steep trails full of rocks, dirt and mud. The red trail we went on was not a straight trail, it was full of twists and turns. All that being said, absolutely gorgeous views. Pack accordingly and stay hydrated.
Brittani B — Google review
One of the best hikes near Harpers Ferry! The trail is moderately challenging, with a steady incline and some rocky sections, but it’s well worth the effort. Once you reach the overlook, you’re rewarded with an iconic panoramic view of Harpers Ferry, the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers, and the surrounding mountains — absolutely stunning, especially during sunrise, sunset, or in the fall. Parking is limited near the trailhead, so be prepared to park a bit farther away or arrive early. Bring plenty of water and good hiking shoes, and expect it to be busy on weekends. Overall, a must-do hike if you’re visiting Harpers Ferry — one of the most rewarding views in the area!
San D — Google review
It’s a very nice hike. We parked at the Visitor Center, and then a shuttle takes you to the Old town where you start the hike from. The park was free because of the government shutdown. You do see some strenuous uphill sections but overall good. The overlook was amazing but also crowded for a Saturday. It’s dog friendly. Coming down seems easy. Took us close to 3 hours since we stopped for at least 30 mins at the overlook.
Pallavi S — Google review
I love this spot overlooking Harper's Ferry and the trail is gorgeous despite being a little strenuous! From Harper's Ferry rd the hike is mostly uphill. Once you start going downhill, there are 2 right turns on the trails that break off and ends at the overlook.
Valerie M — Google review
We had a picture perfect day to hike with temps in the 70’s and a nice breeze. As 70 year olds we found the hike strenuous, therfore it took us close to 4 hours. It is a constant uphill trail. There should be many more trail markers, and perhaps a couple of benches along the way for us old folks. The final half mile is definitely strenuous with loose rocks, roots, and a huge area of flat boulders that you have to scramble around. The view is definitely nice, but be prepared with the correct footwear, extra water, and even a snack. There are multiple trails, and the park service should do a better job of marking the trails and distance.
Cathie B — Google review
The view at the overlook is well worth the climb. Weather was perfect. The trail is steep. Watch out for root and loose rock trip hazards. Highly recommend the use of trekking poles. The trail is dog friendly, but; please take your pets waste back out with you, we noticed quite a few bags of waste tucked into rocks and tree holes, not cool. To reach the overlook there is a rock scramble, pay attention to your footing. Beautiful views and a nice way to spend a few hours.
Auguste — Google review
parking for this is essentially in town. the road in front is too narrow and all parking along the side was blocked off. that being said, it took us about 2hrs round trip- with tons of time up top taking photos. trail is extremely well maintained. Beautiful panoramic views that seem just unreal.

Nestled along the Appalachian Trail, Jefferson Rock is a distinctive shale rock formation offering stunning views of rolling hills and rivers. Named after Thomas Jefferson, who marveled at its beauty in 1783, this landmark features a broad piece of shale resting on four stone pillars. A leisurely hike to this iconic spot presents panoramic vistas of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah River.
Beautiful area with incredible views. Tons of photo opportunities and an area to sit and relax. Walk/hike is fairly short, but is pretty steep at the beginning. Be careful at the top as there are some steep dropoffs.

Great view of the Potomac River from an elevated place. A little slice of history, while taking in an incredible view of the mountains. Near by is also Harper Cemetery, St Peters Catholic Church and the ruins of St. Johns Episcopal Church.
Phillip H — Google review
An interesting story and a nice view above Harper’s Ferry Jefferson Rock is one of the highlights of Harpers Ferry. It gives a good mix of history, scenery, and a bit of historic adventure that personifies the town. The hike to the rock takes you up the hillside, passing by the iconic St. Peter’s Catholic Church along the way. The path itself is fairly manageable, and most sections have railings, but once you reach the rock the protection stops. Because of this, I would recommend the visit only for those who are sure-footed and comfortable with uneven ground, as the drop-offs can be intimidating without barriers. The payoff, however, is worth the effort. From a position next to the rock you get a sweeping view of the confluence of the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers, as well as the historic town of Harpers Ferry nestled below. The vantage point is both dramatic and peaceful, giving you a sense of why, according to the stories, Thomas Jefferson, during his travels, found this very spot so moving that it now bears his name. For those who wish to explore more, you can continue on the trail past Jefferson Rock and make your way to the Appalachian trail, which adds another layer of history to the walk. The informational sign could use a little care but, overall, this is a scenic and meaningful stop, best enjoyed with good shoes and sure footing. Enjoy.
Ward D — Google review
This is a fantastic climb with spectacular views from a higher vantage point than from scenic streets at ground level, both at Jefferson Rock itself and along the way up to the rock exhibit. You can climb onto Jefferson Rock and sit to enjoy the views further. Visitor Parking: Street parking in town is extremely limited and only available on a short-term basis for the businesses nearby. Harpers Ferry National Park parking lot offers daily parking at affordable rates. It is situated along Shoreline Dr., where you can park for $10-$15, depending on if you have a motorcycle or private vehicle. A guided shuttle bus will take you to the bus stop along Shenandoah St., where you can begin the scenic walk of Old Town Harpers Ferry into the modern town.
Erica B — Google review
Amazing views of the Shenandoah River, and the town of Harpers Ferry. Beautiful history in regard to the nature overlook. It’s not a short hike up, about 0.1 miles. You will know you are headed in the right direction when you are heading up the stairway to the old Catholic Church. Well worth the walk!
Jay O — Google review
Nice historical spot and beautiful views. If you go on a weekday, especially later in the afternoon, no one is usually there! You can walk up the stairs from town but there is a bit of an incline; not a terrible hike, but may be difficult for some! If you’d rather get there without the climb, you can go through the cemetery above it for a fast walk down.

Harpers Ferry Park Association

4.8

Non-profit organization
The Harpers Ferry Park Association's Bookshop offers a variety of items such as books, artwork, postcards, and children's products. Visitors can also obtain park Passport stamps here to commemorate their visit. The town is praised for its rich history, charming shops, museums, scenic views, and cafes. While parking may be limited in the area, it is suggested to park near the Storer College Campus and walk down Fillmore Street to explore the town.
We booked a history tour through the HFPA and Andy was our tour guide and he did an excellent job. It was quite chilly that day but Andy still made the tour very informative and enjoyable. Would highly recommend to anyone going to Harper’s Ferry to book a tour through them. I emailed and paid ahead of time, super easy. Tour was private, just my husband and myself. Will return to Harper’s Ferry! Cool town.

The store has a lot of character and a fascinating history, which makes it quite interesting to visit. However, there’s a musty smell that might be off-putting to some. Also, be aware that they charge an extra fee for credit card payments, so it's definitely a good idea to bring cash if you want to avoid that extra charge. Despite these quirks, it’s worth checking out if you appreciate unique shops with a bit of old-world charm. Overall, this is a very cool town with rich history.

What an amazing little town with an amazing history. I wish we could have stayed longer, but we had a long trip back to PA. The little shops, museums, vistas and cafe's make this town a great place to visit. I've always wanted to go here. My family almost gave up because of the limited parking. I think we drove around for 30 or more min. before we found a spot. My advice is park up on the hill near the Storer College Campus and walk down Fillmore Street. The Harper Cemetery is amazing along with St. Peter's Catholic Church. We had lunch at The Rabbit Hole. They had a great beer selection, and they were very accommodating to our dog Stella. Give yourself the entire day to walk around. There's a lot to see.

STEP IN THIS DOOR... and buy a lot of cool Harper's Ferry stuff! It's a nice souvenir shop; I was surprised! You didn't know you needed a Harper's Ferry t-shirt, until now!

The gift shop was very nice. Liked the selection, it was well organized and a variety of things to look at, browse, and shop for. I was not happy when I looked at my receipt that there was a credit card surcharge. If you’re going to charge for credit card purchases an extra amount, please notify the purchaser before hand. Thank you.

The Point at the Rivers is a breathtaking destination where the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers converge, framed by the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains. This historic site marks John Brown's crossing into Harpers Ferry and features remnants of an original bridge from the 1830s, along with significant Civil War history. Visitors can enjoy stunning panoramic views from various vantage points while taking advantage of benches nestled among trees for a peaceful respite.
Scenic and very appealing spot for tons of photos and selfies. First place you'll want to take photos at if you're in Harpers Ferry!

A great viewing point of the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers confluence. This overlook at Harpers Ferry where the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers meet is definitely worth the stop as it has a lot to offer for a simple viewing point. First, from this spot you can see both rivers coming together. The view offers some great opportunities for excellent pictures. Second, behind you is the historic town of Harpers Ferry. Third, a few feet back from the overlook is a shady spot with several informational signs about the confluence. Fourth, to the right and down a set of stairs is the path to the water. Fifth, left and up the path is the walking path across the bridge. Along the viewing area there are plenty of informational signs that explain the history and geography. It is up the hill from the town proper and may be difficult for the mobility challenged since it is not a smooth road surface path to get to the viewing area. The view is not just of the rivers. You can see the supports for the old bridge and, if you time it right, some people tubing or rafting down the river. I think, it’s one of the highlights of the park and a great place to pause and take in the scenery.

The view from The Point is spectacular! It’s a great location to see the two rivers converging, and you can also see the mountains and the bridge to the Maryland Height all from this point. If you don’t want to do a strenuous hike, then taking pictures from this point should already be good enough. Not necessary to hike up to Maryland Height. (Follow me on IG ➡️ miss_dawang)

Existing as perhaps what is the most picturesque viewpoint in historic Harpers Ferry, The Point is an absolute stopping point for visitors. In addition to the converge of the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers, the surrounding view of the town, two train lines, a widespread view of the surrounding mountains, and the monumental view of the Maryland Heights trail mountainside mountainside are also visible from this one standing point. Here, multiple signage are available to give further details regarding the convergence and town. Other tourist inclusions such as distance markers are also present.
A L — Google review
Beautiful place to see the confluence of the Potomac and Shanandoah Rivers. You can also see the effects of the train derailment that happened earlier last year. You can't hike to the other side of the river anymore through that trail which also aligns with the Appalachian Trail but you can still get nearby and you can always drive to the other side.
Lily D — Google review
You can see beautiful views from all sides at the Point at the Rivers. The high winds offer refuse from the summer heat, but hang on to your hat and hair or cover up. There are benches in the open and tucked away near the trees.

Wonderful view of the rivers coming together. If you’re in harpers ferry definitely stop by! We came after sunset in the late evening and it was still beautiful.
Josiah K — Google review
Busy spot, but beautiful to walk by particularly with the fall foliage. From here you can quickly walk back to town, take the bridge across the river, or walk the path following the river.

The Ruins of St. John's Episcopal Church are a captivating sight just a short distance from the tavern, offering a glimpse into history. Dating back to 1852, this fieldstone structure served as a hospital and barracks during the Civil War and was heavily damaged by fire. Situated on a grassy bluff overlooking the rivers below, the crumbling walls and windows create an evocative scene. Accessible via the Appalachian Trail, visitors can explore this historical site nestled amidst nature's reclamation.
We visited here in January. Snow was everywhere. It made it a little bit more special. The view of the town was impressive.

Located between St. Peter's church and Harper Cemetery along the Appalachian Scenic Trail this is a nod to what used to be. We don't find "ruins" like this very often in the States and it was certainly an interesting site. Worth the time to go see and try to image what was based on what is remaining.

Interesting ruins that are worth a few minutes stop, particularly if you’re already walking up to Jefferson rocks. Very quick walk up to these from town.

Super cool ruins. Just a short walk up some stairs from the main town of Harpers Ferry, back behind the new church, but it's not a whole hike to get to it or anything.

Very cool ruins of the old church. Beautiful views to the water and the new church. Definitely worth the hike.

Going up the Appalachian Trail footsteps to reach an entry point to the Appalachian Trail proper, several historical sites will be passed. Of these, the ruins of St. John's Episcopal Church may be seen. Like many other sites throughout Harpers Ferry, nature has retaken most of the grounds. For what remains of the ruins, numerous broken entrances are on each side that provide a satisfying sense of enjoyment to walk through.

The Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) is dedicated to preserving and managing the land surrounding the iconic Appalachian Trail. Established in 1925, the ATC relies on volunteers and staff to maintain the 2,190-mile trail from Maine to Georgia. Headquartered in Harpers Ferry, a significant point along the trail, it serves as a popular spot for hikers to capture milestone photos at the visitors center. The town itself sees an influx of weary backpackers seeking supplies and respite.
The crew that mans the conservancy are beyond great- knowledgeable about every aspect of the trail and its historical location as well

I loved this place. The people were knowledgeable and helpful. They are making a nice little walkway and garden that is paved with memorial bricks with different names and messages on them from past hikers. It really gives you a sense of walking through history.

We stopped in to check out this visitor center while walking around Harper’s Ferry. Connector Trail from AT to Appalachian Trail Visitor Center

4.8

Hiking area
The Connector Trail from AT to Appalachian Trail Visitor Center is a short and accessible portion of the Appalachian Trail, with access points from Rt. 340 or historical Harpers Ferry. It offers a brief hiking experience with historical sites such as the town church, cemetery, church ruins, and Jefferson Rock. The trail is suitable for novice hikers but has narrow paths and some steep elevation.
As part of the Appalachian Trail, this portion is accessible either from Rt. 340 or from historical Harpers Ferry. If visiting downtown and wanting a short hiking experience with a few worthwhile historical sites, the Connector Trail is more than ideal. Along this short path, the town church, cemetery, historical church ruins, and Jefferson Rock attraction will be passed. Generally, this path is accommodating to novice hikers. The path itself is narrow with some moments of steep elevation. It should also be said that some specific spots require climbing more so than stepping, such as utilizing large rocks to move forward.

We took the connector off the Appalachian Trail. We were a little surprised to see how much more challenging this leg was than the park & AP trail.

Convenience store
This convenience chain provides a variety of quick bites, beverages, and various items available for purchase. It is known for its cleanliness and the polite nature of its staff, who efficiently process transactions. This particular 7-Eleven serves as a comprehensive destination offering an array of products ranging from burritos to vitamins, catering to diverse needs such as first aid and pet care. Its proximity is regarded as fortunate by many customers.
I loved the ladies who run the store, they’re really nice and friendly. Also it’s a good place to get almost everything you need, from eggs to make breakfast to wood for a fire pit. And this is actually a 7/11 that runs 24/7.

Best 7-Eleven! Very clean, well stocked, lots of options, hot food, friendly service, it has everything you would want in a convenience store. Laim and carey, were an absolute treat! Thank you so much for being so personable and friendly, you really made my day easier.

A 7-Eleven doesn't normally provide a stand-out experience...I mean a small convenience store is normally kinda just that...just the basics. This one had a great vibe - oddly huge selection of craft beers along with the whole milk I needed for morning coffee. The cashier was super energetic and friendly - welcoming everyone in and checking us out efficiently - an unexpected gem!

I love these guys! Best ever service and somehow stocked with anything we need. The folks who work here create the neighborhood center. They greet all the regulars, are super friendly with out-of-towners, and have the best attitudes. As a bonus, they're also wonderful witty conversationalists. If I could give them all a raise, I would! They make my day every time I walk in. Thank You! We truly appreciate you everyday.

This place is clean and the current staff is very polite. They ring items up quickly too. This 7-11 is a one stop shop. It has anything from burritos to vitamins, first aide to pet care. It's the best. I feel fortunate to have this location so close to us.

The manager is rude and not training people correctly on how to mark money if it’s bad or good , they tired to tell Me my brand new 100.00 bill was bad which just came from the bank . And they think yellow is bad , which is not correct! I went back to the bank with 100.00 bill and they showed me the marker and how the color was correct . So he wanted to argue with me when I was calling to advise them that they don’t know how to mark the money with their pen . Very rude and best believe I will not be back at that store . I wil take my business else where . Funny once again someone else had posted about money issues with this store . And to argue with me because I’m bringing it to your attention.

Went here for the 1st time Sunday open mic night for our friends birthday. We had a really good time - the bartender, sound guys, and other staff were super welcoming & kind. The sound was great. We even jammed outside on the patio with new friends after. They had non alcoholic options & N/a beer which was appreciated, since a few of us don't drink. Really enjoyed the band, Shorty Slim. The atmosphere is very friendly. When the dogs were allowed to run around inside the bar off the leash, we felt uncomfortable. When the dogs got aggressive with each other under our feet, we were out. Dog friendly on a leash is different than dogs run amok. I wouldn’t let my children run all over the barn causing a distraction for patrons or distracting the band like these dogs disturbed us. Would not go back.

Light Horse Inn

Inn
The Light Horse Inn is a charming and historic accommodation located in Harpers Ferry, WV. The inn offers warm rooms and suites, some featuring whirlpool tubs and kitchenettes, providing a comfortable stay for guests. Dating back more than 225 years to the Revolutionary War era, this beautifully restored inn boasts seven suites with picturesque views. The partially updated rooms retain their original charm with exposed brick, creating a delightful ambiance. Guests can enjoy a delicious breakfast tailored to dietary preferences and served by friendly staff.
I think some people fail to realize that this is a historic building so it’s going to have quirks. My partner and I did a one night get away and enjoyed our stay very much. The room is a comfortable size, the bed was very comfy, just wish the pillows were a bit better. Breakfast was phenomenal, with plenty of food. The chef is very informative and pleasant. We do plan to return and will stay in this beautiful historic B&B again.
Stephanie C — Google review
Had an amazing overnight stay at Light Horse. This was our first time here, and will return! Communicated with the inn keepers via email and text, they give you a code and a paper when you arrive for info about your room. Very easy self check-in. Had a surprise in our room of goodies, fruit and a little bottle of bubbly for our anniversary; so thoughtful, thank you! This is a historic property, original flooring and history throughout! Absolutely beautiful. With breakfast, you fill out the sheet in your room and place it in the kitchen for the next day. The breakfast room has your assigned table seating by room number. That was very good also! Had dinner at the restaurant Snallygagers next door and that was really good also! Only downfall, and it has nothing to do with the inn, is it's about a 20 minute walk to Harper's Ferry, and very hilly, so make sure you're prepared. Wasn't a great walk in the stifling heat, but made the best of it. Otherwise I would highly recommend this inn!!! Will definitely be back!

This inn is BEAUTIFUL ❤️❤️. Our room, #4 was spacious, clean. The bed was heaven!! Breakfast in the morning was hot and served with a smile. Thank you chef, for the extra to go bags in the morning. This was definitely a highlight on our trip to the c&o canal towpath. There was plenty of space to put our bikes.
Shell M — Google review
The check-in process is very simple, and the location is incredibly convenient. We enjoyed the breakfast, and Megan was helpful and kind. The food was pretty good, but the bakery items were store bought which was kind of disappointing. However, beware of staying here if you are at all allergic to mold. It may have been Suite 5 specifically, but I know mold is common in older buildings. My fiancé had planned for us to stay here for three nights for my birthday, but we ended up leaving after the second night. On our first night, I woke up feeling groggy with a sore throat, which I attributed to allergies and sleeping in a new place. It wasn’t a big deal, and I felt better after getting outside and walking around. The second morning, I woke up with a puffy face, hives on my neck, and another sore throat. At that point, I knew something wasn’t right but hadn’t yet put two and two together. We went about our morning and returned later to the inn. Upon entering the room, there was an undeniable musty smell that was clearly from moisture. It had been rainy and drizzly during our stay, which likely didn’t help the humidity in the room. We heard dripping behind the wall near the bed and I’m guessing there’s mold in the walls or in the ductwork for the individual heat/AC unit in the ceiling. While this didn’t completely ruin our trip, it’s disappointing to pay for three nights and only be able to stay for two—especially since the room wasn’t cheap ($170 per night).
Jalee M — Google review
I woud really like to have had a 5 star experience, but mine was one star. Top experiences - breakfast was good and they accommodated my dietary needs. The charm of the old structure - 300 years old, was lovely. HOWEVER, there was a ceiling leak in our room where water rained down at 6:30 in the morning along a beam in our room. I reached out on phone and email. I got no responses for a day. I had to take out our own garbage from the wastebaskets I used to catch the water myself. I had to put the old large throw rug and soaked towels in the bathtub myself. I had to walk around the entire place and check all the closets I could to get clean towels. Nobody staffs the place unless it's breakfast. The representative told me later the leak was fixed and that we didn't specifically ask for our room to be cleaned up or for a call or email back, and she was contentious in her tone. I asked for a full night's refund, and she instead provided $100 off. My bank account only showed $95, and when I texted her about it, she was contentious once again. Disappointing to be sure. Beware before booking.
Amber M — Google review
Our stay at the Light Horse Inn was a bit underwhelming compared to what we expected. There was no innkeeper or staff on site the entire time we were there, which made the inn feel less warm and welcoming. The room itself had a noticeable smell, and the container of water that was left for us didn’t look like it had been cleaned in a while and was only half full. The plumbing in our bathroom struggled a little (that can be expected with an older house, but is still fixable). There’s also no TV in the room, which might not bother everyone, but it’s something to know before booking. We would have loved to leave our outside bedroom door open to listen to the live music from the barn, but there were so many spider webs, leaves, and other debris that it just didn’t feel comfortable. We did however, enjoy sitting out on the back porch. I truly think if we had stayed for breakfast and met the chef — who so many reviews mention as warm and friendly — our experience might have been different. A friendly presence can make all the difference in a stay like this.
Amber M — Google review
Loved staying at the Light Horse Inn. Megan was a great hostess and made incredible breakfasts. She was helpful and knowledgeable, giving us great tips about the area. The room was spacious and comfortable and the location was very close to town.
Trina P — Google review
We stayed for one night in late October. The Inn was difficult to locate at night as the signage was not prominently displayed. Key room amenities like extra comforters/blankets and pillows were absent. The heating in the room did not work! We never saw the Innkeeper. The breakfast was substantial but nothing special. I don't think we will stay here again.

Cemetery
Sights & Landmarks
Harper Cemetery is a historic burial ground located in Harpers Ferry, with graves dating back to the late 18th century and continuing to the present day. It is a significant part of the town's living history, with many local residents having family members interred there. The cemetery features a walking path constructed as an Eagle Scout project, making it accessible for visitors to explore its several hundred gravesites.
Just past St. Peter's Church along the somewhat lengthy Appalachian Trail staircase, Harper Cemetery is home to several hundred graves dating back to the 18th century to current years. There is a good amount of land devoted to the site, with plenty of space available for future gravesites. Some time ago, an Eagle Scout project helped construct the beneficial walking path from lower to higher elevated areas. Grounds are maintained nicely, and the site is as nice as one can anticipate from a cemetery.

Beautiful and scenic place. It is adjacent to Jefferson Rock and can be accessed via a walk path. The land was set aside by the town's founder, Robert Harper. There are no notable tombs to check out but the commanding views of Harpers Ferry and the surrounding mountains and rivers make a visit worth it.

Worth the hike, if you start at the bottom of the hill in lower town! At the top, there is a historic cemetery that is well-maintained. The view of the Shenandoah & Potomac Confluence is unmatched from any other angle. You can see “Jefferson Rock,” where Thomas Jefferson stood one time, on the climb up. Dog friendly.

Historical cemetery at the top of the hill and along the Appalachian Trail. Prominent area families and Robert Harper of Harper's Ferry fame buried here. Interesting to walk the grounds, read and admire the craftmanship of the headstones.

Beautiful historic cemetery with great views down to the confluence to the Potomac and Shenandoah River. Lovely spot to sit and let your thoughts wander!
Kylena C — Google review
A wonderful old cemetery with a great view. Even though it has graves dating back to the late 18th Century, new burials still take place there. It’s important to remember that other visitors you see may be visiting the recently deceased so please be respectful. Likewise, many of those buried are the family members of local residents. Like much of Harpers Ferry, the cemetery is living history. Some interesting things about the cemetery: - There’s a Revolutionary War soldier buried there. His grave was lost for many years and only recently rediscovered during ongoing preservation work. - There are a number of graves belonging to members of several fraternal orders and many of their gravestones feature highly detailed symbolism that makes them very interesting to study. While some of the symbols are still in use, others have been forgotten. Take the time to look carefully as many contain hidden details that may surprise you. - You can be buried at the cemetery. The cemetery website has information about the plots for sale. The trustees of the cemetery also ask that temporary visitors refrain from standing, sitting, leaning or rubbing on the monuments. The exposed location of the cemetery combined with the winter weather and frost heaves cause unseen damage causing some monuments to break very easily. There are efforts underway to stabilize the monuments, but it’s a time consuming and expensive process. While visiting you may see some monuments laying flat on the ground and broken into several pieces. The monuments sometimes break and fall to the ground in one or two large pieces. However those in many pieces are the result of people standing on the fallen parts. Really. Please don’t do that. The restorations cost thousands of dollars and are paid for by donation. Please report any vandalism you witness to the police immediately. The cemetery is NOT part of the National Park and is maintained by volunteers. Please practice Leave No Trace in the cemetery.

The Vintage Lady in Harpers Ferry is a small but impressive shop that offers unique Confederate flag items and authentic West Virginia crafts. The store's owner is knowledgeable about Civil War history and enjoys discussing it with visitors. In addition to historic books and handmade jewelry, the shop also sells collectibles, fashion items, essential oils, and local honey at reasonable prices. Visitors appreciate the wide variety of items available and the friendly atmosphere of the store.
Cute store with many unique items. Local beer to go. Would definitely stop in again!

- cute little shop that sells various little items, jewelry, stickers, candles and things. The coolest items I found were the beers. - place was small but clean and organized. - staff were really friendly and helpful. - prices depend on what you're looking for but seem normal for the area. - overall worth checking out especially if you like trying different beers.

This is a cool little shop. They have a lot of hand made gifts and trinkets. They have a section on local craft brews as well. The owner was awesome! She was a very cool lady.

This was our 2nd time in 5 years to go to this wonderful little shop. Everything there is locally made or made by the owner of the store. Many selections of things that are wonderfully priced.

The owner Tess is kind and knowledgeable. Lots of souvenir and locally made items. My hubs will love his seasonal candles since Fall is our favorite season. Thanks for the hospitality, Tess! “Jaz”

Simply Delicious! A cozy little shop offering more than beautiful one of a kind pottery and hearty crepes. The New York salmon hit the spot, was generously stuffed and great value compared to similar menu items we had a "foodie" type restaurants. Patience is the key, weekends- peak season, (was there September 2019) but it was Well worth the wait. (Menu may be subject to change). Browse .. -unique aromatic blends of soaps and bath bombs that uplift the senses as well leaving the skin soft and soothed. Reasonably priced earthy, fruity and seasonal delights for men and women. I'm thrilled I was able to call in and order, though I'd rather make a trip in person. I love supporting small businesses, collect and try homemade soaps from travels and have found one of my favorites here...Blueberry thyme.

Visited yesterday with my husband. Bought the dog shampoo bar in lavender and the honeydew wax melts. LOVE THE SHAMPOO BAR! Just finished giving both of my dogs baths. The suds were amazing as well as the smell. Clean rinsing and softening (for my hands as well). I will definitely be ordering more :)

Come for the boba, stay for the ice cream! Come for the gifts, stay for the candy! Whatever your pleasure, this small, quirky underground shop has a ton of great options.

The menu includes mouthwatering options such as crabby fries, crab soup, fried green tomatoes, hangover burger, and wings with Buffalo sauce. The portions are generous and the beer selection is impressive with regional beers on tap. Guests have praised the attentive and friendly service provided by staff members like Pedro and Gabe.
Great local eats near Harper Ferry, went to this place for dinner on the first night of my trip to West Virginia. Food is very good, highly recommend!

My daughter had the weekend planned out and this was the place she picked for Saturday night. It sits inside a hotel, you had to go through lobby to get to. Overall the restaurant was not that shabby, but the seats could use a makeover. They were torn and cracked . I ordered French onion soup to start and it was cold . And not a ton of cheese . My chicken sandwich was pretty tasty and made up for the soup, forget the name but it was the spicy one, My daughter had a burger she said it was good , but the Mac and cheese not so much. Over all it was a good meal and the band started at 6 and were pretty good too

We've driven by dozens of times and finally decided to stop in. Located in/adjacent to Clarion Inn, you enter through the hotel lobby. We were greeted and seated immediately. Fresh roomy interior with tables niceley spaced Generous portion sizes Our server was amazing-very friendly and effecient My one critque, the burger was well done so it was a little dry. Next time I will ask for medium (note they did not ask of we had temp preference) Patio, big screen tv, bar area What we tried: BBQ Bacon Burger : 1/2 pound Angus beef topped with 4 strips of crisp bacon, bbq sauce, cheddar jack cheese and onion ring Bacon Jam: 1/2 pound Angus Burger topped with Provolone Cheese and bacon Jam. My rating rationale +1 Service + 5 Food~Taste/flavor/quality +1 Presentation +1 Atmosphere/vibe +1 Value We will try them again

Had the corned beef melt special and it was delicious. Only real complaint was that there were fruit flies constantly flying around us making it difficult to enjoy the food.

Food was varied: fried pickles were awesome. Fish and chips were very good with great tartar sauce. Burger was ok. Chopped steak roll was ok but not much flavor or "stuff." Mashed potatoes were good. Temps were not hot, just warm (not cold). Kitchen had major issues: we were told 25 minutes before they could take food orders because they were behind (took a bit longer). Out of baked potatoes and behind on dish washing, so, plastic cups. Not a giant, busy place but more than they were ready to handle. Live music that night (too loud inside for my taste). Server was very nice if a bit harried and tired. Small cat-fight at bar led to several law enforcement vehicles responding but seemingly not a big deal. One regular was sneaking a smoke outside in the no smoking area of the patio. Prices were a bit high for quality, quantity, and service.

We stopped in for lunch on our way to a concert, and it was amazing! Bristol was our server, and we each ordered a signature burger with fries.. and I’m not exaggerating, SO GOOD!! William (Chef) … we will be back again!

Stopped and had a light lunch and a beer. Beer was cold and they had a good selection. House salad was fresh. Would come back again.

My husband and I went here for our anniversary and the food was so good! Our waitress, Naomi, was so sweet. She told me I looked pretty and made my night ❤️ She was attentive and very kind. The live music was also amazing! If we ever come back to Harper’s Ferry for a getaway, we will definitely eat here again!
