Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Historical landmark
Religious destination
The Washington National Cathedral is a grand and historic landmark, ranking as the sixth-largest cathedral globally. It holds significant architectural importance and is listed on America's National Register of Historic Places. As the designated House of Prayer for the USA, it welcomes people from all faiths worldwide. The cathedral has been a venue for various national events, including memorial services and funerals for notable figures like Dwight Eisenhower and Ronald Reagan.
The Washington National Cathedral is one of the most breathtaking landmarks in Washington, D.C.—a true showcase of beauty, history, and inspiration. Its magnificent façade, with detailed carvings, statues, and soaring towers, makes a striking first impression. The Gothic architecture is remarkable, with flying buttresses and intricate stonework that rival the great cathedrals of Europe. Inside, the grandeur continues. The vaulted ceilings, luminous stained-glass windows, and ornate chapels create a space that is both awe-inspiring and deeply peaceful. The famous Space Window, holding a piece of lunar rock, is just one example of how art, history, and faith converge here. Equally enchanting are the Cathedral’s gardens. Nestled beside the building, they provide a quiet and beautifully landscaped retreat—perfect for reflection, a peaceful walk, or simply taking in the serene surroundings. The combination of the grand architecture and the tranquil gardens makes every visit feel balanced between majesty and calm. The Cathedral is more than a place of worship; it is a cultural treasure, hosting concerts, interfaith gatherings, and community events that welcome people from all walks of life. For anyone who appreciates architecture, art, or simply a beautiful and uplifting experience, the Washington National Cathedral and its gardens are unforgettable.

I recently had the pleasure of taking a behind-the-scenes tour at the National Cathedral. All of our guides were friendly and incredibly knowledgeable, sharing a ton of fascinating history and architectural details. We primarily climbed the spiral stairs, which gave us a complete feel for the building's artistry and rewarded us with amazing views of the city. Our group was fantastic, and we had a great time, even when a sudden rain shower briefly interrupted us. While the tour was excellent, the pastries and drink portion of the happy hour at the end of the tour wasn't worth the cost. The food was not tasty, and the champagne was just okay. I was also disappointed to receive a very small pour of champagne from a gentleman who was not very skilled at serving it. That being said, the tour and the views were unforgettable, and I will absolutely be returning to see more of this magnificent place.

Washington National Cathedral — Where Stone Meets Spirit Of all the stops on our D.C. trip, the Washington National Cathedral may have been the most breathtaking. Rising from the city like a Gothic prayer carved in stone, it’s hard not to stand in awe beneath those vaulted ceilings and kaleidoscopic stained-glass windows. Sunlight pours through in blues and reds that feel almost alive — as if light itself is worshiping. For a Marine who’s seen both the best and the worst of humanity, places like this hit differently. The craftsmanship, the patience, the vision it took to build something so enduring — it’s a reminder of what people can create when they’re united by faith and purpose instead of fear and politics. I sat quietly for a while in the nave, letting the organ notes roll through the arches. It wasn’t about religion so much as reverence — for creation, for sacrifice, for beauty itself. The cathedral is still under restoration in some areas from the 2011 earthquake, but that somehow adds to its message: even sacred things can crack, and still stand tall. If you visit, take your time. Look up. Breathe. Remember that every piece of glass and stone was placed by hands that believed in something lasting.

You will need to sign up online in advance for self-guide sightseeing. This is not a walk-in place. I strongly recommend signing up for the Behind the Scenes tour and the Spotlight tour online before you visit this cathedral. I went to the Behind the Scene tour (1.5 hour long), and it was a fantastic experience to learn about the sides of this cathedral that the general public don’t know. The tour guide was so knowledgeable and soft spoken. I spent three more hours walking around the cathedral after the tour. This place is definitely to spend a whole afternoon to visit. You will see many stunning stained glass artworks, fabulous sculptures and other architectural elements. You can take the elevator to the 7th floor to view the city. Don’t forget to stop by the gift shop to see the LEGO model of the cathedral as well as the Bishop Garden next to the Cathedral as well.

We booked the guided tour in advance for the four of us. It was $22 apiece and worth every penny! Our guide was a delightful lady that was a wealth of information. The building and its history is amazing as are the various stained glass windows and chapels. Be sure to visit the observation area on the seventh floor for some stupendous views out over the city and surrounding neighborhoods. Finding the Darth Vader gargoyle wasn’t super hard, and as I understand that they do have binoculars, but we didn’t need one because our phone was able to pick him up. The building is rich with history and really a must visit when you are in Washington DC. The surrounding area is also very nice for a stroll either before or after visiting the cathedral.
Mark B — Google review
The guided tour is worth every penny! Seriously one of the best experiences we had in DC - our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly loved this place. I have seen cathedrals all over the world and this one took my breath away. Absolutely worth a trip! Can’t recommend it enough.
Emily H — Google review
Hands down the most stunning architectural and spiritual piece I’ve ever seen. Sky-arching views of the sanctuary to the glimmering stained windows. The crypt offers many chapels of different saints. Please please come here when you are D.C. no matter your faith. Will not regret!
Crikch L — Google review
I wasn’t expecting to be so moved by the National Cathedral, but this place left me speechless. The architecture is absolutely stunning—every detail, from the stained glass to the stone carvings, feels sacred and intentional. I spent over an hour just walking around in awe. It’s peaceful, grand, and humbling all at once. Whether you're religious or not, this is a must-see in DC. Don’t skip the gardens outside either—they’re beautiful and make for a perfect quiet break.

Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Chevy Chase, La Ferme Restaurant is a charming and upscale French dining destination that has been delighting patrons for over 30 years. With its elegant country-farmhouse decor, including high beams and intimate balcony seating, this beloved establishment offers a cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere. Guests can enjoy their meals on the picturesque wraparound porch or by the impressive fireplace, making it an ideal spot for romantic dinners or special occasions.
My friend and I had such an amazing experience here! The service was incredible everyone was so friendly, but our waiter especially stood out. We both have several food allergies, and he went above and beyond to make sure we were safe, checking everything with the chef before confirming our choices. That gave us so much peace of mind. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was relaxing, and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better time. The best part was how comfortable we felt dining here with our allergies. Highly recommend!

Haven't been back here in 20years. Enjoyed the experience. Allegedly needed reservations for Saturday night in September but saw plenty of empty tables when we arrived at 8pm. None of which filled up while we were there. The service was decent, food was on point tonight. I enjoyed the rabbit mushroom terrine and the seared duck breast (both pictured). Good wine selection and even the dessert, pumpkin bread pudding, was good. When we were last here all those years ago, we had poor service, mediocre food and the place had seen better days. After this visit, we will return and won't wait 20years to do it.

Nice charming French restaurant in the heart of Chevy Chase. Good for a romantic date and for baguettes, souffles, and food overall. French onion soup was good, but I thought it was too pricy. I did not like the pate. Good service and nice ambiance rounds out the experience. However, this place is definitely for those who prefer a older feel to their ambiance, and have a deep pocket.

Came here to celebrate my husband birthday after some recommendation. .The food was very basic nothing much to stand out, need improvement on creme brûlée wich it was very thick on the taste. But we do appreciate the good service from the staff and the antique ambience.z
Sannechan — Google review
Excellent French traditional restaurant with outstanding moules frites. Large portion not garlicky, just the same taste as on the coast of Normandy. The soufle we ordered was fine but slightly undercooked if you want to be picky. Super service and atmosphere, a great time and value for the price.
Stephan S — Google review
La Ferme has been an institution for many years, and it still is, for good and bad. Classic French cooking, ably executed, and a quiet atmosphere with a largely senior clientele. It feels very old-fashioned, and the menu has been the same for a long time. It’s expensive but features standards like escargots and dessert soufflés. The service is efficient but not particularly friendly. You have to drive to get there, but there is adequate on-site parking.
Reid D — Google review
Walked in and was greeted by a strong mildew-like smell. The place feels outdated and needs a refresh. Staff were very friendly, but the food was just okay—my beef dish came out barely warm. Overall, it tries to be French fine dining on a budget but misses the mark. A brunch buffet might suit them better so food stays hot.
Mirtes C — Google review
Had a beautiful brunch experience today and as usual, the food and service were lovely. The mushroom soup was especially good. The meal and the atmosphere make it a favorite brunch spot. Do not miss the lovely desserts. Hard to choose my favorite.

Landmark's Bethesda Row Cinema

Movie theater
Lounge
Landmark's Bethesda Row Cinema is a top-notch movie theater in the heart of the business district. It offers a diverse selection of films, including new releases, independent productions, and foreign-language movies. The cinema provides an upscale movie-watching experience with amenities such as a full bar, reserved seating, and comfortable reclining seats. Visitors can enjoy unique refreshments and a cozy atmosphere while watching films in smaller theaters that create an enjoyable viewing experience.
The theater is under renovations. However, my experience was great. Everything was clean. The theater staff were very pleasant. I didn’t feel uncomfortable or anything. Also, the AC is definitely working. Things happen. It’s summer and some stuff is out of their control. As of today, no issues to report.

Nice place to see a movie if you want to enjoy an alcoholic beverage. They just remodeled and put in arcade games which makes NO sense to me. They should have put in better movie seating. Those seats have seen better days. The crowd there is older...much older and would appreciate a reclining seat.
Veronica D — Google review
I like this theater because is has great avant-garde shows that you don't find in other theaters. The theater is in an ally, behind a restaurant. So, it can be hard to find if you don't know that. The place is clean and has all the food amenities. Parking garage is nearby, but make sure you pay up or you get slammed with a ticket.
Roger W — Google review
-The air-conditioning was non-functional. It was hot enough to cause people to sweat and with low air flow. Extremely uncomfortable. I've never been in a warm theater in my life. -Screen is small -Sound is meh -Seats are comfortable but hard to get in/out of the row. -One toilet and one urinal working in the bathroom with long line. -Emailed customer service and no response, not even validation email -Called corporate customer service and went to voicemail. Pathetic.
Richard W — Google review
Comfortable oversized theater seating with good stadium sightlines. Good sound. Lots of food and drink options. Games for kids in the lobby. Good selection of movies.
Justin G — Google review
Looks like it's going out of business but people are claiming it's just under renovation. The entrance was bland with the escalator going down into the lobby out of service. Once you descend the stairs into the former fallout shelter you will find a dimly lit bathroom; only 1 urinal out of the 3 was functioning and 2 out of 3 stalls. The theater seats do not recline but that did not stop whomever was last in my seat. The movie picture and sound quality was decent but the first impressions definitely tempered my overall feel of the theater.
Devin M — Google review
I desperately needed something to do to take my mind off of life and decided to try my luck on getting into a sold out Rocky Horror showing. So many other places would have immediately dismissed me but Naomi and Josh worked magic. They not only entertained my antics across multiple phone calls, but they — and everyone else I interacted with at Landmark Cinema — were INCREDIBLY kind from start to finish. I cannot express my gratitude enough!!
E L — Google review
The theater is undergoing a renovation so there are "Pardon my dust" signs everywhere in the lobby and it does look bad in there. The theaters themselves are in decent shape, but the entrance desperately needs a sprucing up. The movie I saw was fine and the sound system was very loud. I was able to pick my seat ahead of time and there was no wait to get in and get seated. Parking is a bit of a pain. There are public garages in Bethesda that you have to pay for and are about a 2-3 block walk from the theater, but other than that, the experience was just Okay... at best.

Bethesda Row is a celebrated and upscale mall that offers trendy retail shops, restaurants, and a movie theater. The area hosts events showcasing various art mediums created by national artists. It's a cute and fun area to walk through with bakeries, coffee shops, retail stores, chocolate stores, and restaurants. We discovered this doctor through TikTok and decided to check it out. The experience was truly impressive—professional, thorough, and extremely helpful. The clinic is conveniently located near the city parking garage, so parking is not an issue. If you're dealing with spine-related issues, I highly recommend paying a visit.

We grabbed carryout, and everything was fresh, delicious, and beautifully packed. I had the Mango Green Tea, and my daughter had the Peach Green Tea — both were refreshing and filled with juicy chunks of real fruit. The flavors were light, not too sweet, and perfect for a hot day. Great first experience — can’t wait to go back and try more! Highly recommend if you’re looking for a flavorful fruit tea with a fun twist. 🍑🥭

We enjoyed a morning walk around downtown Bethesda. We were early so most of the shops were not open yet (they open at 11), but there were a few restaurants open for coffee and breakfast. The streets were nice and clean, and besides for the heat, it was a lovely stroll.

Fast food restaurant
Five Guys is a popular fast-food chain known for its made-to-order burgers, fries, and hot dogs. While some customers have experienced inconsistencies in the food quality and portion sizes at certain locations, others praise the delicious taste of the burgers and fries. The restaurant offers options like veggie sandwiches and lemonade, with fried-in-peanut-oil fries being a highlight. Additionally, some patrons appreciate the respectful service provided by certain staff members.
This five guys location is awesome. The fries and the burgers taste so great, that this feels like fast food heaven. This location is near my high school and I go there every Monday and Thursday. One of the managers, named Pam, was very respectful. One time we went there, it was our first day of school and my brother came to eat here with me. When she took our order, we told her that it was our first day of school and this was one way we finished the first day strong.

How can you not eat here? Burgers are still the best in the dmv area. The only thing that came close was BGR but that shut down years ago.
John R — Google review
They make the best french fries I have ever had in my life so far. The fries here are promoted from a humble side dish to a main attraction. As a foreigner living in the US, I am always amazed how an apparently simple and ordinary thing such as french fries can be so flavorful.
Germano C — Google review
I would not recommend this Five Guys location. I ordered two milkshakes and watched the lady make them. The milkshakes were so liquidy and the toppings were barely mixed in. The straws were also paper which is very difficult to drink a milkshake out of.
Kayla S — Google review
I ordered a cheese dog and on the receipt it said a cheese dog so I expected a cheese dog but NO, I got a normal hot dog T_T. Of course I love hot dogs too but still.

By grading as a fast food chain I can honestly say burgers and concept are great for their counterparts such as bk or mcdonalds, fries were phenomenal as well.

Step into the charming world of Mon Ami Gabi, a French bistro that brings the essence of Paris to downtown Bethesda. With its inviting sidewalk cafe and elegant interior, this beloved eatery offers classic French dishes with a modern twist. Indulge in traditional favorites like steak frites and escargot paired with fine wine for an authentic dining experience. On Sundays, savor a delightful brunch featuring classical French dishes such as benedicts and champagne cocktails.
This was our first time visiting Mon Ami Gabi since the new renovations. The inside is beautiful and very welcoming. The staff here are warm and friendly- and able to provide good recommendations. The heirloom tomato salad is delicious and a perfect summer lunch. All the sorbets here are lovely. 10/10 recommend visiting if you’re in Bethesda and looking for good French food.
Samantha M — Google review
This restaurant has been closed for many months and was excited they finally reopened in March 2025. They did extensive renovations, and I like what they did to the place. There is a large bar area now upfront and a small bar in the back. It seems they added more tables/seats. I wish they would turn up the light a little, as it was pretty dark in there. Of course, with the renovations done, the prices have increased notably, but I am happy to say the quality of the food is still great. Their French bread isn't free anymore, and it comes with shredded celery slaw now instead of carrot slaw. For appetizers, the French onion soup and 1/2 order of mussels is still great albeit more expensive. These had to be the largest mussels I've even eaten. For main courses, I usually stick with the steak frites. It's priced at $36.95 now, but the steak is so tender, and the fries are great, although the steak wasn't served hot, just warm- maybe it was sitting out for too long. Will definitely be back. Also, their happy hour menu looks pretty decent, so will have to check that out as well.
Eddie K — Google review
I had a lovely time at Mon Ami Gabi for my birthday brunch! The atmosphere was very comfortable, the service was excellent, and the food was absolutely delicious. I especially appreciated the complimentary profiterole from the chef—it was an amazing birthday treat! I truly recommend this place for a special occasion or just a great meal.
Kateryna K — Google review
Overall kind of disappointed with my visit to Mon Ami Gabi. My family and I used to visit the Reston location frequently until it closed, so we were very excited to give the Bethesda location a try. The actual restaurant is very nice (although the atmosphere was very loud and cramped). The issues started when we were placed in the back corner of the restaurant, and it took over 25 minutes to get a waiter to come over to the table. When he did come, he seemed so much in a hurry that it really put a dampener on our evening. Then the food came, we all started with frisee salads, and the poached eggs were cold, and the salad in general was underwhelming. We then ordered steaks which were ok at best. We most likely will not be returning.
Spencer D — Google review
We visited the restaurant on opening day after the renovation. The interior is beautiful and classic with more space for tables. We informed them that we were there to celebrate a special occasion and our server Marianna took great care of us. Of course, it was crowded on opening night but the food came out timely and our server made sure we were well looked after without rushing. Her knowledge and recommendation of wine pairing with the food was excellent and we really enjoyed it. We went back again to try the brunch menu and were treated to a great meal by our server Ismael. The customer service standards here are clearly excellent. We will definitely be going back again. Service is excellent the servers are very knowledgeable and friendly. Food is amazing. Great for happy hour also. No need to go to Le Diplomate if you’re in Maryland this is the place to go for French food.

Tuesday at a later part of noon, service for one. Requested sparkling water and got a liter bottle (forced upsell, no room for coffee at the end). Escargots were on point, but my salad a bit disappointed (frisée & Lardon). Dressing settled at the bottom with bacon bits and bread crumbs. Bacon was a bit though and poached egg was bland. Service touch points were limited despite slow business. There was a surprise 3.5% surcharge by the restaurant (to better their eroding margins due to economic conditions). Perhaps next time a little more creativity from the staff to properly upsell.

Olympia Cafe is a charming local eatery that resembles a diner with limited operating hours. Their menu boasts delectable sandwiches, milkshakes, and exceptionally crispy french fries. Although their bubble tea may not be the highlight, everything else they offer is truly delicious. While it may not possess an extravagant ambiance, it does provide convenience and reasonable prices for its satisfying lunch options. This beloved establishment has remained consistent over the years, which many patrons appreciate.
Great neighborhood cafe with amazing value sandwiches. My corned beef on rye was stacked high with lean corned beef, and was delicious. My friend's steak and cheese, on a proper roll that could stand up to the filling, was near Philadelphia quality.

We found this place by accident while walking around the neighborhood and we couldn’t believe we never heard of that place before. This place definitely needs more hype and should be added to local diner’s/cafes list cause it’s definitely worth going. The food is on point and the prices are decent. Basically it’s all you want when you visit a local cafe. Great atmosphere.

Food was bland and boring. Kids pancakes tasted like a sponge. They didn’t have any proper plates or utensils. Instead it was the cheapest thinnest paper plates and plastics utensils. Had to ask for ketchup and sugar to help with the taste. Coffee was awful. Lady rang our card without letting us know the total check, so have no idea how much we paid. At least it was clean, and the staff was friendly, hence the two stars.

Been going since I was a kid. Not much has changed and that's a good thing. Steak and cheese and fries and a milkshake are my go to orders. Not expensive and appropriately priced. If you love a good greasy dive this is your spot. I just wish they'd bring back the video games

Vegan restaurant
Planta is a trendy vegan restaurant known for its epic sushi rolls, pizzas, and raw vegan dishes. It's also a popular spot for weekend brunch. The restaurant has an upbeat and vibrant atmosphere with great deals on photogenic dishes and beverages. The spacious restaurant features contemporary decor, dim lighting, and comfy booth seating. Planta was founded in 2016 by Chef David Lee and currently has several locations in Florida, New York, and Toronto.
Food is excellent! A stop everyone should make when you're in town or just looking for a good place to eat. Vegan or not, you'll love the food! I've eaten the burger, broccoli (smaller than expected though) and volcano and tuna sushi. All excellent!

Traveled to this location for the first time on Monday, very excited for the all you can eat sushi. So disappointed to learn upon arrival that it no longer exists, even though the reservation we had made online said it was happening. Thankfully we had arrived at 5, so we were able to take advantage of happy hour specials. Staff was extremely friendly and apologetic about the Monday night sushi special changing. Everything was incredible. Drinks, food, coffee, and desserts were perfectly made. Presentation is gorgeous. Service is immaculate.

An incredible restaurant experience with amazing attention to detail and an extremely creative menu. Sarah was a great server and helped us pick items off of the menu. the watermelon ngiri was delicious. Although sometimes vegan restaurants feel uninspired and cheap, this place was filling and innovative. 5/5 all around, will be coming back to try their brunch menu.

Made an order for pick up, the flavors were amazing and loved the torched and pressed sushi! Walked in to pick up our sushi box, and I loved the chill vibe the place gives off. Every roll had something unique; the only thing I think I missed was something with a hard crunch. Other than that, this place deserves all the hype.

I was really looking forward to dining at Planta Bethesda, but my experience was disappointing. I ordered the Bang Bang Broccoli, Cauliflower Wings, and a salad. During dinner, I only ate the Bang Bang Broccoli as an appetizer and the salad as my main course. The broccoli arrived lukewarm instead of hot and was fried extremely hard on the outside with a mushy center. I asked my server about it, thinking it might have been made from frozen broccoli, but they assured me it was fresh. Unfortunately, after getting home, I began to feel sick and ended up vomiting twice. I’m not sure what went wrong, but it was concerning and not what I expected from a restaurant of Planta’s reputation.

Had a blast at their 1st Sunday brunch event. Our waitress Chris was extremely knowledgeable and recommended some great shareables to try. It was a pleasure to meet the GM Karl and Lee. Very pleasant, warm, and friendly customer care. The music (live DJ) took us through a soulful journey through the early 2000s and into some classic house bangers. Will definitely keep this place on my brunch list.

Have been here twice now, and it has become one of my favorite restaurants in the area. The Japanese mushroom steak, the watermelon tuna poke bowl, the watermelon nigiri, and the Mexican bowl were particularly amazing. (For what it’s worth, I’m a vegan, but my non-vegan girlfriend feels the same way I do about this place.)
Gavin — Google review
This was my first time going to a vegan restaurant and eating a completely vegan/plant based meal and I really enjoyed it. The food was SO good. The restaurant was super cute and vibey. Our server was a sweetheart and super kind. My favorite dish was actually the carbonara pasta (not pictured) and the Japanese sweet potato hand roll. I would definitely go back and I want to try one their other pasta dishes which I heard is also really good. For someone who doesn’t eat regularly plant based meals - I was initially skeptical and nervous because I was worried like oh my food needs some sort of meat to compliment. But trust you really don’t and you can enjoy a super yummy and delicious meal without it.

Urshered in with care ❤ The staff are great. Always an important part of the experience. We had great seats. The venue was clean and we ( my group ) were very comfortable. Came to hear Elizabeth Gilbert! Great evening! Would recommend this venue for a show. Thank you!

It's easy to get to either by car or public transportation. The auditorium tiered balcony and orchestra seating. The acoustics are great as well.

Excellent music venue. There’s a walkway to and from the metro station. They had a buffet style menu that opens 90 mins before the performance. Really well organized, friendly staff.

Beautiful facilities and very comfortable seating. The acoustic in the hall are quite good. The parking is a bit tricky because you have to either park at the metro or on the street. Other than that it is a great venue. They have a small cafe and bar in the hall. Clean and convenient bathrooms as well.

We had a great time watching the jurassic park viewing with live orchestra. We would definitely come back as the musicians were talented and the venue was very nice. Comfortable seats! I wouldn't eat/drink there. To bring a drink with you while watching you need to purchase a $5 cup in addition to the price of a drink.

Had a great morning here! Kids played in the playground and then we rode the train. Plenty of shade which is nice just make sure to wear bug spray! Did not go into the restrooms but they are available if needed. Love the huge dog park that is also shaded to keep dogs cool. I recommend getting train tickets early as it gets busy on the weekends! The train tickets as of this post are $3.50 per person. 2 and under free!

This is an excellent choice to go with children and pets. The dog park is big and pleasant. The ride on the miniature train is fantastic, surrounded by a beautiful forest. The playground is huge, with a variety of games adapted for different ages. It also has a clean and spacious picnic area.

This is one of our fave parks in the area. Lots of different play areas spread out for different age groups. It's particularly great in the summer because there is ample shade in most of the play areas. Kids also love the train that runs by - check online for available times to ride. They do i-spy for Halloween and other special holidays too!

Beautiful park! Great for kids, and the train ride is such a treat.

My husband surprised us on family day today with a trip to this park. What a pleasant surprise! Our grade school and preschool children both had so much fun. It had many different playground structures so kids weren't on top of each other. As we were studying the map we found out that there are walking trails, tennis, camping and so much more! We will definitely visit again as the weather warms up. The only negative things I can say are about the bathrooms and water fountains. The fountains weren't on but they may not turn them on until warmer weather appears steadily. The bathrooms were very dirty as well. At least they had toilet paper but they need a good disinfecting. Overall we liked this place!

We thoroughly enjoyed "Miss Nelson is Missing" back in July, however, there was a staff member that was completely rude to my 9 year old son. I really hope she's gone now. My son barely grazed the stage with his finger as we were leaving and she barked at him for touching it. What is the point of having a theater for children if you're worried about little hands touching things?
Elizabeth — Google review
My six year old went to see Frog and Toad and it was funny, entertaining and the acting/singing was superb! Only $9 per ticket. The theater does run cold as actors get sweaty on stage. The show did start about 5-6 min late and lasted an hour. Younger and older children were present and they all seem engaged. Definitely a must visit! I would even see it again!

Just finished watching my kid's final performance sharing after 12 weeks learning session and it was such a disappointing and uncomfortable experience. The only 2 Asian girls were arranged to stand at the very edge and my daughter wasn't even facing the audience rather facing the wall. I wonder whether she was always put at the edge with limited engagement to the class but I can't get answer as adults are not allowed to watch classes.

Nestled in the heart of Bethesda, Bacchus of Lebanon is a culinary gem that transports diners straight to the vibrant flavors of Lebanon. This charming restaurant, adorned with traditional columns and arches, offers an authentic experience that beautifully showcases Lebanese cuisine. The menu is a delightful journey through classic dishes like shawarma, falafel, kebab, and stuffed vine leaves—all infused with aromatic spices such as garlic and nutmeg. Don't miss out on their delectable baklava for dessert!
Came here on a Tuesday night for dinner and had the whole place to ourselves. The service was great. Staff was pleasant and provided many recommendations. We got the lamb shank and bacchus delight which were both tasty and filling. The flavor of the shank was delicious.

I loved my experience here and I was so surprised it was relatively empty on a Friday night. My brothers fiance kicked off her bachelorette weekend here with a party of maybe 16-18 people and a three course family style meal. The service was AMAZING. Everyone was super kind and friendly and quick to remove our plates, refill our waters and make sure we were good. At the end they kindly took a group picture of us. We had a lot of dietary restrictions and they made sure to coordinate who can eat what dishes. On Friday and Saturday nights there are belly dancer performances and wow our performer was so beautiful, talented and fun. I would definitely come back and I would love to try different Lebanese dishes. Thank you for having us!

Came here for lunch. Enjoyed everything including the lemonade and cardamom tea. The food was very fresh and well-presented. There were nice portion sizes too. For a Friday, almost no one was in the restaurant. So we were able to take our time.

We ordered the Salmon Mechwi for takeout were beyond disappointed when we opened the container. At $27 there was hardly any salmon. The serving of protein was an appetizer amount. There were also only 2 mushrooms in the entire dish. While everything was seasoned very well and the rice was delicious, I can't justify spending this amount of money for this dish.
Emily C — Google review
I recently visited here, with one of my girlfriends, primarily to experience the belly dance performance. We chose to go on a Friday night, expecting a bustling atmosphere, but it was surprisingly less busy than anticipated. Nevertheless, we decided to make the most of our evening and ordered four different dishes to share, accompanied by a bottle of wine. The highlight of the evening was definitely the belly dancing performance. It was entertaining and added a lively element to our dining experience. Watching the dancer move gracefully to the music was a unique and enjoyable experience.
Michelle H — Google review
Came here for the second time and it did not disappoint. The food was wonderful, the drinks well made and since it was a Friday, we got to see the belly dancing show, which happens on Fridays and Saturdays. It can be pricey but the quality of the food helps negate that and the environment is warm and comfortable. Definitely recommend it

Nice place. Outdoor is covered and heated but it was really hot during lunch hours. Food was decent. Didn't like the knafeh, burned top with cheese not melted completely. We recently had this restaurant cater for my daughter’s birthday, and it was simply outstanding. The food was exquisite—fresh, flavorful, abundant, and with such a great variety that everyone found something they loved. Our guests couldn’t stop complimenting how delicious everything was. I’ve also dined at the restaurant itself, and every single dish I’ve tried has been amazing. Milanesa, pastas, everything! The quality, taste, and presentation are always top-notch. Truly one of the best dining experiences around. I highly recommend them—not just 5 stars, but more if it were possible!

Came here today with my friend to celebrate his 21st, and let’s just say… the experience didn’t live up to the hype. From the jump, it was off. The place was nearly empty—literally only two other tables sat—but we still weren’t allowed to sit where we asked. As someone who’s worked in the food industry, I get how server sections work, but come on… it wouldn’t have killed our server to walk a few extra steps. The lack of effort was just annoying. Then came the drink situation. My friend was excited—it’s his 21st birthday, his first legal drink. But because his ID isn’t horizontal yet (which, duh, it wouldn’t be on the day he turns 21), the server flat-out refused to serve him. We explained it was his birthday, and instead of even acknowledging that, she stayed cold and dismissive. Like… no “happy birthday,” no empathy, just attitude. I ended up pulling her aside and asking to speak to a manager. She claimed she talked to him and they were going to make an “exception.” An exception for someone who’s literally of legal age. Please. But then—then—as he ordered his drink, she had the nerve to say, “I just hope nothing bad happens.” Excuse me? What was the reason?! Completely unnecessary and just plain rude. Now let’s talk food. Mid. Just mid. My friend’s steak came out undercooked, and while they did fix it after we said something, it shouldn’t have needed a redo. The fries? Soggy and sad. (There’s a video attached because words just don’t do them justice.) If we’re dropping money on a steak, at least make it worth it. At the very end, they did bring out a complimentary slice of cake, which was a nice gesture—but honestly, that doesn’t erase the string of poor service leading up to it. This spot had great reviews, so my expectations were high… but if we’re keeping it real, this place is a solid 3 out of 5. At best.

Came here for a quick dinner, surprisingly on a Saturday night 7:30pm and it wasn’t packed. Saw the great rating and pretty decent menu, that was the main reason I wanted to eat here. So we went with the fried calamari and zucchini as appetizer, the calamari was good but the zucchini wasn’t as good. It was lumpy and soft, felt like it wasn’t freshly fried. Also I had the branzino, it was tiny for the size and they de-boned it. It was cooked okay with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. For 34 bucks, I think I should have ordered other dishes. We also had the risotto with prawns, the portion size was small and some of the risotto was under cooked, few bites were still hard. Our original server whom took our order didn’t bother with any service. It was other waiters and waitresses that actually made this dinner more eventful. Over all the food didn’t go with the high rating on many websites, maybe I didn’t order the right dishes… but having had many seafood dishes their Branzino was just mediocre.

Absolutely gorgeous place to dine in. They have such beautiful decorations and the setting was so nice. The pasta was perfectly cooked and their seafoods were so fresh. My partner (Husband now ❤️) brought a few decorations the day before and the owner & staff were so kind to put them up and organize the flowers I bought. My husband & my mother-in-law were both there to meet with the manager that same day the decorations were delivered and both my husband & MIL were pleased with the attention and suggestions the manager was giving. When the Cake was delivered, the staff knew what to do and took care of the cake cutting too. My Husband and I just wanted a low key wedding with our closest family & friends and La Panetteria Restaurant did a great job hosting our wedding. California Tortilla is a fast-casual chain known for its customizable Mexican dishes like burritos and quesadillas. While it may not be as upscale as other restaurants, it offers a vibrant atmosphere and a menu that caters to both kids and adults. Due to COVID-19, some changes have been implemented, such as limited sauce options and QR code surveys upon entry. Despite this, the food is flavorful and satisfying.
This place was pretty easy to get to from the naval base. Parking was easy the first time, however the second time they had the road on the side blocked off for seating in the street. The employees were friendly and gave a good military discount. The food was prepared quickly and was delicious. I would not recommend the queso with chips. The cheese got cold and hard too by the time I got home. The salsa is good.

Wow. I've had bad service before but this was on a whole new level. The cashier could barely be interrupted long enough from watching his phone to take my order but the clincher was his response to my question about the bathroom being closed... "you can use if you want but I don't think you'll like the toilet backing up when you flush." The outdoor tables and chairs were filthy and obviously hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. Waiting for the health code violation. (Bethesda location, btw.)

If I could give this location negative stars I would. This location has the rudest employees. Today I made a purchase and I was rudely denied a chance to spin the wheel. I was told that it was only if you purchase entrees. I have never been told that before. I am absolutely disappointed in experience and I will not be coming back to Cal Tort.
Gigi H — Google review
Went during lunch time, and the staff was friendly, but dead. I think this impacted the quality of the burrito as there was sour cream on my burrito even after I asked for no sour cream. Not a fan of this California Tortilla establishment.
Colin H — Google review
I always loved California tortilla, unfortunately because of covid you can’t choose your own spicy sauces. But you can request some at the register if you remember which one you liked. At this location once you get in you have to scan a QR code which makes you take a covid survey. The food is great and if you love food that has flavor you will love this restaurant. Some people compare it to chipotle but this place is better in my opinion. I love the Korean bbq (i choose the bowl version with tortilla on the side) . And its very affordable for the area.

Pros: Wall of flame (pictured), corn tortillas are default, fish texture was very good, fish weren't fishy, and they have the drink fountain with tons of options. The employees were friendly but not over-the-top (I could eat in peace). Cons: Tacos didn't have as much flavor as I'd expect, chicken pieces were a bit tough, and the Screamin' taco had a cheez-whiz-type cheese that detracted from the rest of the taco.

Gringos & Mariachis is a vibrant Mexican eatery with a lively atmosphere and an eclectic menu. The cantina-style setting features rustic decor and edgy murals, creating the perfect backdrop for a casual night out or a lively gathering with friends.

A great touch is the complimentary fresh chips and salsa, which are the perfect start to any meal. I highly recommend trying their Original Duck tacos or Duck Nachos – they're unique and absolutely delicious. For something lighter, I often go for the Fish Ceviche, which is irresistibly fresh and flavorful, though it’s on the smaller side. The Steak Tacos and Fajitas are also top-notch. My teenager kids love their brunch menu. Whether you're dining in or opting for carry-out, the food is consistently fantastic every time. Gringos is a perfect spot for a date night, just the right lighting and a nice ambiance. Found this restaurant while looking for a special for National Margarita Day and I’m so glad I chose this place. 10/10 carne asada tacos!!! The steak was so well seasoned and flavorful, do yourself a favor and add a 3rd taco - it’s worth the $4. These are my favorite restaurant carne asada tacos in the DMV right now. The green rice was also good. Salsa was fresh and not spicy, though chips were a little tough. The house margarita was $8 for National Margarita Day and it was a nice pour leaving me feeling warm and tingly after only one. Service was average, no complaints at all.

The outside of this place is very unique and creative and it drew me in. The inside and vibes inside are just as intriguing as the outside was. The drinks are delicious and strong, huge plus. The food was thoughtful and very yummy. The sushi was got an extremely flavorful and had me obsessed. It was an elevated California roll called something that started with a G. I got the chimichanga and it was good. I love vibes in here the most, it’s upbeat but still calming and a perfect side down and talk space. They also have an happy hour

Our first time at this location. Really enjoyed the plentiful serving of guacamole and chips followed by great fajitas. We sat in the covered patio area which was slightly less noisy than the main dining room but still lively. Great service. Didn’t feel rushed.

Great place to dine and then have a little fun. The prices are a little high I think but it is close to DC. I didn’t like the ceviche we tried but some other people did. I guess it is perspective. We went to the second floor after 11 to dance and it was really fun. Great music. Cool place to enjoy latino food.

If you're on the hunt for an authentic Cuban dining experience, look no further than Cubanos in Bethesda! This charming spot not only serves up mouthwatering dishes but also boasts exceptional customer service that makes you feel right at home. From the moment you step inside, you'll be greeted warmly by staff who genuinely care about your experience. The food is a true highlight—each dish bursting with flavor and crafted to perfection.
Saw their promotion for the Savor Bethesda Restaurant Week. There were just four patrons for weekday lunch. The three-course came with: 1. Three pieces Big Tequenos (instead of five pieces on the regular menu). 2. Arepa (the bun; not the Burger). 3. Cuban Flan (to choose vanilla or coconut). The decorations and table settings looked pleasant. The food quality was above average. The service was quick and professional. Highly recommended.

Amazing Customer Service! Food, Oye, pero Rica! CUSTOMERSERVICE: Really great! Greeted twice by different people. A rare thing these days. FOOD: Dang!! Really good! Everything was spot on. I don't eat sea food, but I tried some and blew my mind! The chorizo was packed with flavor and not overwhelming with fat as some other places. Coffee...A dream within a dream... ATMOSPHERE: Lovely. A great place for a date or just to enjoy great Cuban food. BATHROOMS; VERY CLEAN! Beautiful. Better than my apartment. 😆 Parking, if lucky on the street. If you don't want the hassle, there are public garages for a fee. SUMMARY: It's a must go place. Definitely will return. Sadly, my phone acted up and couldn't get lighting good for great pictures. BUT I SHALL RETURN! 💯 % RETURN FACTOR 💯 %RECOMMEND A FRIEND FACTOR

Food was delicious and service from the bartender, Julio, was amazing. He had great recommendations and made me feel at home. I had the Lechon which was 10/10. Very flavorful and juicy. I live far but would definitely make the drive to come back.

This was my first time patronizing this location in Bethesda and it did not disappoint. For many years, I have visited the location in Silver Spring which shut down. I really do miss going there for my lunch break and communicating with the staff. I have nothing negative to say about my experience at this location as everything was on point from the staff to the food. I look forward to going back.

Authentic Cuban food nestled in a quaint spot. The food was on point. Ropa vieja all the way. The drinks were good and the service was very quick. This is a definite place to go over and over again.

We had an outstanding experience at Cubanos in Bethesda! The Chicken Tenders were a delightful start for the kids, and the Grill Chicken and papas combo at $12 provided both taste and value to them . The innovative substitution of plantains in Arroz Caldoso de mar for $28 was a flavorful twist , it had clams, shrimps, octopus and so much good stuff , and the Masitas de puerco at $18 were a savory delight. Accompanied by a refreshing Pana still water for $7, the meal was a culinary journey. I would definitely recommend the chicken fingers for the kids. Moreover, the server’s warmth added to the overall enjoyment, making the dining experience even more delightful. The restaurant’s astonishing decoration created a vibrant ambiance, enhancing the atmosphere. Also they had good coffee! My wife liked it. One notable advantage is the easy street parking, making the visit convenient. The accessibility adds to the overall positive experience. I highly recommend Cubanos for anyone seeking a delicious meal in a welcoming environment.

Seafood restaurant
Black's Bar & Kitchen is a renowned seafood spot nestled in Bethesda Row, offering a menu featuring organic ingredients and regional flavors. The upscale restaurant focuses on sustainable seafood and locally sourced ingredients, delivering an impeccable dining experience with contemporary American cuisine. Whether you're craving succulent lobster rolls or perfectly grilled steak, Black's Bar & Kitchen satisfies the palate with its delightful dishes. Additionally, the restaurant features an intimate atmosphere and a cozy outdoor terrace for enjoying their wide selection of wines.
Having loved my previous visit with friends, I was thrilled to return with my husband, and he enjoyed it just as much! We were seated almost immediately upon arrival and were happily accommodated with an outdoor table on such a lovely, breezy day. Our waiter offered excellent recommendations, and the servers were prompt in bringing out our dishes. The entire staff was professional, and the atmosphere was fantastic. Most importantly, the food was outstanding, especially the dessert. And I can't emphasize enough that the oysters are a must-try! I wholeheartedly recommend this place for any special occasion.

We stopped here for dinner on a Saturday evening in December prior to seeing a show at the Bethesda Theater. We looked on Google maps for something within walking distance of the hotel that served seafood. We sat at the bar and were greeted immediately by a bartender. We ordered a couple drinks and shared mussels and shrimp tacos. Everything was very good. That mussel sauce was delicious. The bartenders were very attentive and pleasant. The atmosphere was upbeat and lively but not loud. Prices were comparable to other similar restaurants we have been to. I would come here again for sure.

OMG! From the moment we arrived, it was nothing but a great experience! Our server was one of my best I've had in a long tine. He was very helpful with recommendations and was on top of our needs! The food, lets just say, I had NO leftovers, it was just so amazingly good, my drinks were phenomenal, and I can't wait to go back!

My son and I had a really nice meal at Black’s Bar & Kitchen in Bethesda. We ordered the Addie’s mussels and blackened chicken sandwiches with fries — everything was fresh and flavorful. The mussels were tender and came in a delicious broth, and the chicken sandwiches had a nice kick without being too spicy. The fries were crispy and well-seasoned. The atmosphere was relaxed but upscale, and the staff was friendly and checked in just enough. It was a comfortable space to enjoy a meal and talk.

I always have a fantastic experience at Blacks Bar & Kitchen, and a big part of that is thanks to Marco and Felix behind the bar. Marco, the bar manager, is warm, professional, and makes everyone feel welcome the second they sit down. Felix is outstanding. He is attentive, personable, and consistently crafts excellent drinks. His recommendations are always on point, and you can tell he genuinely cares about the guest experience. Whether it is a classic cocktail or something new, he gets it just right every time. Both Marco and Felix create an inviting and friendly atmosphere that keeps me coming back regularly. If you are looking for great drinks, top-notch service, and bartenders who make you feel like a valued guest, this is the place to be.

Update: Its awful that I have to downgrade one of my favorite restaurants, but the mosquitoes are making it impossible to enjoy a meal. It’s unfortunate because when they come to town this a place I like them to experience. But the most recent trip was so bad because that I literally walked to the CVS around the corner to buy insect repellent in order to make it through the meal. And I was sitting inside! I’m not sure why this is a problem, but I’m hoping that management gets this under control soon. Wow. This was an all around great dining experience. We were seated quickly and within just a few minutes we had our drinks. We had the Up and Cumber and the Old Fashion. Both were excellent. We also had salads, calamari, and the mussels—all delicious. The oysters were so good that we had 3 orders… 18 between 2 people and I could have eaten more! Shout out to our Jazmyn, our server, who was on top of everything. I’ll definitely be returning soon.

Glen Echo Park, managed by the Partnership for Arts & Culture, is a historical landmark that offers a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities. The park features a restored Dentzel Carousel, the Discovery Creek Children's Museum, and the Puppet Co., providing structured activities for young visitors. Additionally, it is home to art studios, galleries, and a dance program. Families can enjoy puppet shows, theatrical performances, and summer concerts while exploring the historic architecture and grounds.
I got the good fortune to visit friends in Chevy Chase, Maryland this weekend, and was taken to Glen Echo Park, for the first time, to see the falls and they're remarkable but abandoned canal. It's an absolutely spectacular site, and I recommend it to everyone who has a love of nature and enjoys a bit of awe!

I went there on a Saturday night for a bachata and salsa event. There were mostly beginners there but it was such a cool small town community vibe that it reminded me of my initial experiences learning Latin dance. There were other dance events happening simultaneously such as country line dancing, and swing dancing to a live band. The walk from the parking lot is a bit dark, it’s got kind of an old abandoned carnival vibe at night, spooky but cool. Very unique experience. It happens once a month, yeah I’ll probably go back.

I’ve photographed weddings in many beautiful spaces, but Glen Echo Park is truly unforgettable. With its art deco charm and glowing neon, guests are guaranteed to have the time of their lives—especially when they ride the carousel 🎠 during cocktail hour. After capturing over 250 weddings since 2012, I can confidently say this venue blends nostalgia, joy, and celebration like no other. I’d LOVE to be back at Glen Echo for another fun-packed wedding day—so reach out if you’re looking for a photographer! ✨ 📷@amypaperbird

We had a wonderful time visiting Glen Echo Park with our family! It's a beautiful and charming place, full of history and creativity. The kids loved the vintage carousel — such a magical experience! We also enjoyed walking around the park and exploring the art galleries and studios. There's a peaceful, nostalgic atmosphere that makes it perfect for a relaxed family outing. Plenty of space to stroll, picnic, and enjoy some quality time together. Highly recommended for families looking for a fun and enriching day out!

Review of Glen Echo Park 🌈⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Glen Echo Park is such a fun and unique place! I’ve been there for a photo shoot, and it was an absolute dream — full of color, character, and creative energy everywhere you look. The vintage architecture, art deco touches, and bright murals make it a perfect backdrop for photos or just a relaxing afternoon stroll. What I love most is the variety — one moment you’re walking past artists’ studios, the next you’re by the old carousel or exploring one of the small galleries. It feels like a blend of history and imagination all in one spot. Whether you’re into art, photography, or just want somewhere different and inspiring to spend a day, Glen Echo Park is definitely worth the visit.

Clara Barton National Historic Site offers a glimpse into the life and work of Clara Barton, the founder of the American Red Cross. The 1891 mansion served as both her private residence and the headquarters of the Red Cross. The site showcases her dedication to disaster relief and her unwavering commitment to humanitarian efforts.
This is a fantastic place. The park ranger (named Kevin, I think) was very knowledgeable and had a great and informative presentation. We recommend the site to everyone, especially before restoration starts this coming winter ('25-'26).

Clara Barton National Historic Site is the first sight dedicated to a woman! A pioneer for the American Red Cross, Clara Barton was an amazing woman with a lot of tenacity. While this house is a bit run down and all personal belongings have been temporarily removed, I still think it should make your list of places to visit. The house alone has an amazing story, and the park rangers are a wealth of knowledge. Clara Barton contributed so much, and yet most people only know her for the American Red Cross. It is also worth noting that this historical sight is part of the Great American Outdoors Act! This historical sight has received funding for conservation. Hopefully, once this is complete, Ms. Bartons personal effects will be moved back into her home, and the 2nd and 3rd floors open to the public. I know I will be back to see this house in all its glory. Check the web for tour times! This site is free to visit.
Sandy P — Google review
One of the saddest National Park units that I have been too. The house is in total disrepair from the exterior and there are structural concerns on the upper floors of the house. I really hope this historic house can get the some the love it deserves. It honors a woman (Clara Barton) who played a somewhat large role in the history of the USA. She is most well known for her efforts establishing the American Red Cross

I gave this site a lower than most other places becaus it is still umder reconstruction to bring it back to the condition when Ms Barton was here. Except for a closet and two coal burning stoves all the exhibits were photographs. This is the 3rd time that I have tried to see the house. The first times the house was closed as it was being fixed up. I look forward to it being brought back to original condition. Here you can get the junior ranger book and badges for Traveling Clara Barton, Clara Barton Home, and Glen Echo Park

We’ve lived in the DC area for decades and this was “an anchor” on our list of local places to visit. We finally stopped in today and it was fascinating. Ranger Kevin Patti is an expert on the home and Miss Barton. He gave a very interesting tour of this unique home and amazing woman. Tour times are limited (currently Fridays and Saturdays only) so a bit of planning is needed. It shares parking with Glen Echo Park, which is also fun to explore. Makes for a great weekend outing in the DC area!
Bea R — Google review
Another home run by the National Park Service. This locale shares parking with Glen Echo - so there is a great deal. This is Barton’s house that she had built to her specifications - it’s built as a place that could respond to disaster relief. Way more closets than any human being would ever want or desire, natural light in a hall way with multiple apts in that hallway. Here you learn of a story of a beautiful heart who was thrust into the limelight because she was a doer, not just a talker. Her work with the Red Cross, something she brought here along with the Geneva Convention, the field hospitals, civil rights, and the missing soldiers bureau - these all happened because of her! And she did it all without ever having the fundamental right to vote!!! This place is operated with a skeleton crew, and it’s by guided tour only. Attaching a photo of your tour times - make sure to check the website before you come out, as they are doing major renovations right now.
Anthony P — Google review
No one showed up today to give the tours at 1:00. It's a Friday and there should be tours at 1:00, however no one is here. I only waited 12 years to come to this place and flew 3000 m miles. I relate to what she did with our soldiers, including my great-grandfather who served during this time. I praised her and I relate to her with my work with Vietnam veterans. She deserves better.
Sharon J — Google review
Nice little tour/talk. Not loads to see as they’re working on it. It’s interesting because we know her name but she did so much in her life as a woman at that time. It’s a good stop.

Farmers Markets
The Bethesda Central Farm Market is a great place to get all of your weekly needs, from fruits and vegetables to bread and pastries. It's also a great place to meet some local entrepreneurs, as there are many stalls here selling everything from crepes to croissants to dog treats. The market is small enough that you can walk around it in a few minutes, but large enough that there are always plenty of vendors to choose from.
So many stalls. Lots of variety! Love the live music! Parking available at the market.

One of the best markets I've been to! The variety of items was great and the food options were fantastic. My tip would be to go there as soon as they open to avoid parking issues and make sure to bring a large tote with you for all the items you're gonna haul 🙂

The farmers market is sizable and has a variety of vendors: produce, ready-to-eat foods (crepes, arepas, scones, popsicles, etc), baked goods, coffee, smoothies, pet treats, butcher/s fish mongers, and more! They also have a live band with a small selection of chairs and tables nearby. Delightful!

The flowers were beautiful. Bethesda Florist always uses beautiful fresh flowers. However, the delivered flowers did not look like the promised flowers. You can see the difference in my photos. In addition, I called to point this out and sent an email to the florist. I did not get any resolution to address the discrepancy.

I have ordered here in the past and usually have a no issues, but the last order was a terrible experience. I purchased online and chose to upgrade one of their cute arrangements. It looked full of flowers on the website picture, but what got delivered, although still cute was nothing like the picture. I called to let them know and was told I would get a call back, but I never did. I also submitted an email and was told I would be contacted, so far no one has contacted me. You can see from the pictures that there are very few actual flowers in the arrangement that was delivered compared to what was advertised.

Pancake restaurant
The Original Pancake House is a classic American breakfast spot located in downtown Bethesda, serving up a variety of signature pancakes and other breakfast classics all day. With nearly 20 varieties of pancakes to choose from, including options like blueberry, bacon, and pecan griddle cakes, there's something for every palate. One standout dish is the oven-baked apple pancake, bursting with sautéed Granny Smith slices and drizzled with a cinnamon glaze.
We’re out of town guests and it was our first time trying The Original Pancake House. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and would return next time we’re in the area. I ordered the sausage, egg, & pancakes combo. Another person in our party ordered the strawberry waffles. Great food and friendly staff, however, their service was slow.

Took about 30 minutes for our super mid food to be ready. The eggs are definitely diluted and take longer to arrive than ham or steaks, why? Who knows. The sugar-free syrup was higher in calories than regular syrup?? The only good thing was the side of pancakes with the meal.

Round House Theatre is a vibrant local theater company that has made its mark with an impressive array of plays, musicals, and educational arts programs. Recently expanding to two new venues, it now boasts a main location in downtown Bethesda that accommodates around 400 guests, complete with modern amenities. This dynamic space allows the company to showcase a diverse lineup of productions ranging from world premieres to innovative adaptations of beloved classics by playwrights like August Wilson and Anton Chekhov.
A beautiful theater was a simple yet classy atmosphere. I came here for Next To Normal and was surprised by the nice foyer. I got a cookie and a coffee; both very good and I highly recommend the coffee. The service was very good and everyone seemed happy. The stage was small, making for a more intimate feel to this emotional musical. A projector was used and worked well, so it seems the production quality potential is high here. Wow. The seating is amazing and the venue is great. Truly believe there is not a bad seat in the house. Not as big as others, but this adds to the charm. Seasonal specialty cocktails were really good. Rotating food selection is ok, but that’s not really why you visit. Overall a fantastic venue to see your favorite show.

Easy location to get to by Metro, great seating in the round, talented actors, thoughtful plays, helpful staff; I’ve seen Next to Normal and Bad Books here, both excellent productions that truly moved me.

Love Roundhouse! I've seen Spring Awakening, The Tempest, Ink, The Mountaintop, and Next to Normal. I really appreciate the free student ticket opportunity and all of their productions are phenomenal. As an actor, I hope to someday perform on the stage.

The host, Greg, at Escapology Escape Rooms Bethesda was excellent. The entire staff was friendly and knowledgeable, creating a welcoming atmosphere. It was a fantastic experience for the whole family, including kids aged 12 and 16. The hints provided were useful, adding to the fun and excitement of their first visit. The Murder Mansion game room proved to be an enjoyable challenge that they would gladly take on again. Additionally, the Budapest room was well-designed and all elements worked seamlessly together.
Jasmine was an amazing host to have for the Murder Mansion! She is so lovely and fun and it was enjoyable to be shown around by someone who truly loves escape rooms! It’s obvious she loves her job and it makes us want to come back for the Budapest Train! Thank you again Sarah

Enjoyed a great team building experience here with my co-workers! Escapology offered a friendly staff, nice facility and our escape room (Budapest Express) was challenging but we escaped using some of the assisted hints to get us unstuck. Look forward to coming back to try another game.

Great experience, did the hardest one first on accident but we passed with 2 minutes to go and only used 2 hints! Jasmine was a great host and was encouraging. Great birthday experience, definitely recommend this place!

Korean restaurant
Restaurant
House of Milae, a cozy eatery in Bethesda, offers a variety of traditional Korean dishes. Situated in an unassuming building, it proudly claims to be the first Korean restaurant in the area. Their menu features hearty staples like bibimbap and spicy squid, as well as comforting options such as dumpling soup. House specialties include the bibimbap served in a hot stone bowl with crispy rice at the bottom.
House of Milae is a local gem serving quality authentic Korean cuisine. Working my way through their menu, I’ve found every dish to be well-seasoned and comforting. I regularly order beef gimbap, which always hits the spot. The kimchi fried rice is brilliant. The kimchi jigae and tteokguk stews are perfect as hearty meals on cold nights. For an absolute treat, order some beef galbi or pork belly which are served on a cast iron hot plate. Bring a friend or two, grab a booth, and pair your meal with a bottle of soju or a bowl of makgeolli. Last but not least, the owner is exceptionally friendly - his genuineness and sense of humor complete the experience. Highly recommended: please come out to support this local business, serving some of the best food in the neighborhood.
Karim I — Google review
Great service, very comforting. Seafood pancakes were good, might need to add some seafood freshness to make it more tasty. But the tofu soup was not flavored enough while it’s good coming in the iron pot.
Laura — Google review
I ordered delivery through their preferred app. I received no email or text with an estimated delivery time. When I tried to call the restaurant after an hour of waiting, nobody answered the phone. When I finally got my food, it was cold, and I received no rice and broccoli with my Bulgogi in which it specifically says you get steamed rice and broccoli with the meal. When I called the restaurant to complain, they only offered half off the Kimbap ($9) rather than the Bulgogi ($23). Maybe the food is good at the restaurant, but DEFINITELY avoid ordering delivery from this restaurant.

Spot - cozy. Wait staff - awesome and attentive. Manager - one of the best people I've met in my career. Kitchen - absolutely on point. This is hands down one of the last few old gems of downtown Bethesda and there aren't many left!
The C — Google review
I eat a LOT of Korean food so when I say this is some of the best I've had, I have a frame of reference! We went on a weeknight and things were quiet. I liked that kpop was playing but not too loud and our server (I think it was Lily!) was super sweet and attentive. I think the service was better than the food, and the food was really really good. I loved that we got a tray of all of the sides! I feel like a lot of places don't do that anymore. All of the sides were good, I especially liked the potato salad and the pickled radish. We tried the meat steamed dumplings and they were good! I liked the dipping sauce and they had a great flavor. After that we got two of the bibimbop bowls! We got the crispy "dolsot" ones. They came out so hot and still sizzling! I had the beef, and it was a well marinated bulgolgi. I loved how crispy the rice got, and the toppings went well with the rice and beef. The sauces were really good and I put a ton of the spicy gochujang sauce on mine, it really made it. I liked that you could specify how your egg was cooked too. Everything tasted amazing and it was just the thing for a cold night. I got a scallion pancake to go for lunch the next day, and it came with all of the sides again! I was so happy to see more of that potato salad. The pancakes aren't flaky layered ones, but crispy flour ones. The dipping sauce they came with was nice. It was a great portion for lunch. I cannot wait to come back and try the pork belly in a bibimbop bowl! This is definitely my new favorite place in Bethesda.
Jessica A — Google review
A little hidden gem in Bethesda. I have been here twice now and both times the service was great. The server was very attentive and patient with all requests. The reason I took off a star is for price and both times I was there something from our order was forgotten but given the service and taste of food it was not a big deal. In my most recent visit I got the seafood pancake, beef bibimbop, and the beef soft tofu stew. The beef bibimbop was delicious and came with a good amount of beef surprisingly. The seafood pancake came out as 3 little pancakes and it was a bit more doughy in the middle than I would have preferred (reminds me of the texture of mashed potatoes) but it still tasted nice with the dipping sauce. The beef soft stew was not overly salty which was great and had a good amount of tofu in it. It was also just the right amount of spicy. The plate of small side dishes is always something to look forward to as well! Overall, I would 100% recommend and I will definitely be back. However, I would like to note that the two times I was there the food did take a little bit to come out.
Kelly — Google review
House of Milae has really good authentic Korean food. Their Korean bbq short ribs and the sea food pancake are the best. Price is reasonable and service is good.

Nestled in the heart of Bethesda, Old Georgetown Grille is a charming eatery that embodies the essence of classic American diner fare. This cozy spot serves up a delightful array of comfort food, from fluffy pancakes and hearty omelets to juicy burgers. Diners rave about the deliciousness and affordability of their meals, making it an ideal choice for any casual dining occasion. The inviting atmosphere is complemented by friendly staff who ensure a warm experience for every guest.
Breakfast of your dreams. I’ve been coming here since I was a child, and food is just as great! They have stayed consistent. Thank you for always providing an amazing breakfast!
Alexander B — Google review
We visited Old Georgetown Grill while in town for the weekend. It was very busy and there was only one server so it took a long time for us to get our food. She was slammed with work with so many people sitting. The food was actually really good. The server was nice, but it was hard to get her attention. At the end of the day, I would still come back. If you have a little time to spare, give them a chance, food is definitely worth it, and the prices are great.
Ec B — Google review
Standard fare hot meal food for a diner in need of an updating. Our omelets were served hot, edible, and acceptable. Nothing to write a critical or rave reviews about, just understand the lack of a wait line is justified if you are trying to simply get food in your stomach.
ForOurDog — Google review
Nice mom and pop diner. We went in around 12pm. Every table was occupied. There was only 1 server so it took a little while to get our food. We felt bad for her and didn't mind the wait. The food came out hot and tasted good. My wife really enjoyed her home fries. When we come back to the area we will do breakfast here.
Darryl B — Google review
Charming old school dinner with extremely friendly staffs. The food was hearty and seasoned very well. I had a veggie omelet and french toast. Both were served shortly after the order and were both amazing. Would definitely revisit next time I'm in the area.
KP — Google review
The food was decent. Typical diner food is what we were looking for. Server could have been a little more attentive, but certainly was not rude. Eggs over easy was fine, Philly steak sandwich was good, grill chicken sandwich was dry.
M L — Google review
It’s really a diner, but their food is very good. Friendly service, and very fast when it’s not crowded. Usually stop by for breakfast and food is consistently tasty.

Inexpensive place for straight forward lunch. My bulgagi plate was tasty and filling. My friend's fish sandwich was fine, not exciting, just decent food at a relatively low price for the area.

Pizza restaurant
&Amp;pizza - Bethesda is a contemporary pizza chain that offers a wide range of gourmet pizzas with various sauces, along with delectable dessert pizzas and in-house sodas. It is a fantastic location for pizza enthusiasts seeking new dining experiences. The establishment's attentive and amiable staff, including the manager Sterling, create a welcoming atmosphere where customers can take their time deciding on toppings.
This is honestly my favourite place to get food. I'm autistic and can't eat many foods as a result, but &Pizza (especially this location) genuinely has the best comfort/safety food. I always have the same order (the spicy sauce, fresh mozzarella, pineapple), often multiple times a week, and am never not surprised by how good it is. The staff are also very kind and helpful. If you are looking for fantastic pizza, I really recommend this place!
Regn P — Google review
My first visit. Pizza was very good, ready in under 4 minutes. I especially enjoyed the Obay and shrimp on top. Great blend of ingredients. The gentlemen were very friendly. I will definitely visit again and join their club.
Beverly C — Google review
Forget Mod Pizza or CiCi’s—&pizza makes the best “Chipotle-style ordering system” pizza I’ve ever had. Sure, those other places also let you make a pizza however you want it, but &pizza has unique and sometimes even exclusive ingredients so that you can really go crazy with your custom pizza. They also recently lowered their prices, which is unheard of almost anywhere else, making them an even better deal than they already were. Their quality among similar “create your own” pizza places is simply unmatched, with the best ingredients you’ll find, and their flatbread-style pizzas are always baked to perfection. Their craft sodas they they’ve recently introduced are great too, with flavor combinations you won’t find anywhere else. In short, if you like pizza and are really particular about what you want on it, or you want to try something truly wild, I can’t recommend &pizza enough.
Jay V — Google review
I really enjoy the pizzas that they have here. My personal favourite is the pineapple Jack’d one! It’s absolutely delicious. I’m gluten free and the crust is great. However, I don’t like that I have to pay more for a gluten free pizza.
Julia K — Google review
I love &Pizza but this is one of the worst locations. Server was on a phone call the entire time she was making my pizza & seemed annoyed I was placing an order. She never even greeted me. Crust was thinner than normal, she was extra stingy with the sauce & cheese. I had to keep asking for a little more, they were out of multiple toppings an hour before closing & she refused to put the garlic sauce around the crust pre bake. Cashier guy was great & courteous, wish he was making pizzas instead. Won’t return to this location as it was THE worst &pizza I’ve had.
Jocelyn J — Google review
Create your own pizza or order off the menu. Food is fresh and delicious. We had Farmer's Daughter Pizza with some variations. They have home made sodas that are unique. We stopped in only twenty minutes prior to closing time and still received great service and tasty food. Been to about three different locations and always impressed.
Rachel A — Google review
While the food itself was tasty I am disappointed about the amount of shrimp on the shrimp pizza, as the name suggests you would think that its the main ingredient, the "star of the show" but i only had 7 shrimp on the whole pizza. Back home i get atleast 12+

Pizza building place, that I never knew existed until stumbling across it. As a rookie at a pizza builder place. The service wasn’t very friendly and it seemed I was an inconvenience to the person making the dough. The gentle at the till however was very nice and luckily the food was pretty good.

Nestled in the heart of Bethesda, Woodmont Grill is a delightful dining destination that offers an upscale twist on American cuisine. With a diverse menu featuring everything from juicy burgers and succulent rib-eye steaks to fresh seafood like salmon, there's something for everyone. The restaurant prides itself on its reasonable prices, making it perfect for both romantic dinners and family outings without breaking the bank.
Swung by for happy hour earlier this week and was very impressed by the service, cleanliness, food/drink options, and decor. Their GM, Rose, was awesome and constantly checked in on us and surrounding tables (even though she wasn’t our server). The menu is largely seafood, although they have other options for non-seafood lovers. The location is in a lovely part of Bethesda next to a big parking garage, hotels, and several other restaurants. Hope to be back soon!
Tim B — Google review
This place has been around for a very long time, maybe over 30 years. It's still one of the classiest places in Bethesda for lunch and dinner. For all this time, they always have their spinach dip, ribs and Houston's Hawaiian ribeye on their menu and for good reason. Whenever I come here for dinner, you can count on me ordering spinach dip to start and having either the ribs or Houston's Hawaiian ribeye. Now, I wish they didn't get rid of their fries and loaded baked potato, not sure what their logic is behind that. It's not like potatoes are expensive. For lunch, I really like their crispy chicken sandwich and cheeseburger. Now, I wish once in a while they would bring back some of my past favorite dishes like their club sandwich, hickory burger and baked potato soup. One could only wish.

One of my favorite restaurants in downtown Bethesda. If you are a vegetarian definitely try their veggie burger! It’s 10/10 incredible. I’ve enjoyed the sushi and tuna as well but we always get the massive Veggie burger!

Woodmont Grill holds a special place in my heart and my family's heart. A very special person in our lives passed away 15 years ago. We would frequent Houstons on the pike, and the Woodmont Grill. Our friend was a definite "foodie" and his love for the Woodmont Grill was unmistakable. In honor of his life, we visit the Woodmont Grill annually, and at other times as well. Their delicious food, friendly and attentive service never disappoints. Our server last night was particularly amazing. We left full of great food, and a wonderful feeling after our visit.

First, Woodmont is always lovely at anytime of the day! I’ve been going to the Bethesda location for 30+ years (Georgetown since the 90s) and it’s my family’s all time favorite. From being greeted, to being seated the ambiance, the servers, food and drinks, and management, it’s alway the perfect experience from start to finish. Last night Alyssa was our server and she was just perfect all the way around! Just delightful! Very professional, pleasant and attentive. During our time there we started with shrimp cocktail and spinach and artichoke dip and jack rabbit cocktails. For our entrees we both had the Hawaiian steak, pomme purée, braised red cabbage and creamed corn to share. All cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious!

Overall Rating: 5.00: One of my fav restaurants in Bethesda. While Hillstone is a chain restaurant, the outstanding service and Hugh quality freshly prepare food is an experience. 1. French Dip au Jus: Served on a toasted house-made French roll filled with thinly sliced USDA prime rib and accompanied by savory au jus for dipping. 2. House-made Veggie Burger 🍔: Crafted from black beans, rice, jalapeños, molasses-coated with a crunchy sweet exterior, and pink-hued filled center. Best veggie burger I’ve ever had with yummy sting fries. 🍟 3. Double‑Cut Pork Chop: Cured in‑house, with whipped potatoes (tomato’s substituted) and braised red cabbage. Fall‑off‑the‑bone tender deliciousness. 4. Spinach Dip: Amazing, freshly prepared spinach dip with salsa, sour cream and tortilla chips beyond the usual bread or chips. If you're craving an elevated, hearty, and richly savory food, Woodmont Grill at Hillstone is a standout choice. Outstanding service including open bar and sushi bar. I’m confident you won’t be disappointed.

Had a really nice experience here. Had reservation for 730 and although we waited for our table for 20 minutes, manager made up for it by giving us a starter on the house. From there service and food were outstanding. Must try au jus ribeye sandwich! This place is always packed. A nice Bethesda stable.

Just walked in for a Lunch meeting and Drinks. Was told that since I didn’t have a reservation, they couldn’t seat me for an hour. They had plenty of open tables. This is reprehensible. Rarely find a business that turns Business away. I guess they’re just too good for our money on a Saturday afternoon. We had to walk across the street to Blacks. they were happy to seat use and treated use very well. No reservations necessary. Won’t Go Back

Park
Caroline Freeland Urban Park is a charming community park that features a water fountain, an open shelter, and a playground. The playground offers various amenities such as slides, swing sets, and a climbing structure for children to enjoy. Additionally, there is a covered picnic area with tables nearby, making it perfect for family picnics. The park is well-maintained and enclosed, providing a safe environment for kids to play.
Nice and beautiful park to come and visit with families and friends.
Daniel A — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My visit to Caroline Freeland Urban Park was a real hit for our little ones—my 4-year-old absolutely loved the slides, while the 18-month-old couldn’t get enough of the swings. The playground is thoughtfully designed, fully enclosed for safety, and includes separate play structures that cater to both toddlers and older preschoolers . The park itself was recently renovated, offering smooth, accessible pathways, new bench swings, and ample seating areas—great for parents who want to relax while keeping an eye on their kiddos . Being nestled downtown, it’s also super convenient, close to the library and dining spots—perfect for combining errands or outings in one trip . What held this experience back from a perfect ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐? The lack of nearby parking made it a bit stressful to get there—downtown Bethesda lots are sometimes limited or require a bit of a walk . But once you’re there, the park more than makes up for it.

One of our favorite parks for my 2 year old! A small park, but it still has a few paved walking paths for people who want to meander about for exercise. Of course in winter there’s not a lot of life here, except a few bushes and mostly bare (and a few evergreen) trees and a few scraps of grass. Benches and picnic tables and a bit of playground equipment.

Located near Bethesda Metro station, Waverly Street Gallery is a charming art gallery that offers a rotating selection of exhibitions. Although not on par with the Smithsonian or National Gallery of Art in D.C., it still deserves a visit. The gallery showcases great artwork by talented local artists who have dedicated years to perfecting their chosen medium and expressing themselves uniquely. With a new show every month and warm opening receptions, it's worth keeping an eye on this gallery.

We came here on a Friday for one of their receptions. The room was full of art as well as people. Most everyone seemed to know each other, so they must either be regulars or some kind of society. They had wine (nothing fancy, just Barefoot and Yellowtail), ceramics, paintings, photographs, and plenty of cardboard boxes lying around.

Restaurant
Morton's The Steakhouse is a distinguished dining destination that embodies the essence of an upscale steakhouse experience. Located in Bethesda, this establishment specializes in serving USDA prime aged beef alongside a selection of fresh seafood, including lobster and chicken dishes. Guests can expect generous portions and a delightful tableside presentation where servers showcase mouthwatering options from a cart, adding an interactive flair to the meal. The ambiance strikes a balance between elegance and comfort, making it perfect for those seeking hearty fare in a welcoming environment.
I had the most incredible dining experience at Morton’s The Steakhouse in Bethesda! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and genuinely cared for. Everyone was warm, attentive, and professional, which made the evening truly special. Our server, Cinthia, was absolutely outstanding. She was not only personable and knowledgeable about the menu, but she constantly checked in on us to make sure we had everything we needed and were enjoying ourselves. Her thoughtful service elevated the entire experience and made us feel so well taken care of. And the steak was absolutely phenomenal! Cooked to perfection, tender, and bursting with flavor, it was easily one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Every bite was pure perfection. Between the world-class food and the exceptional, personalized service, Morton’s Bethesda exceeded every expectation. We will definitely be coming back!

Went in for dinner without reservation. I was immediately greeted by a friendly server and the place had good vibes. The service was prompt and friendly. I ordered Filet Mignon. It wasn’t bad but it lacked proper seasoning (salt). Perhaps the idea is to get a sauce on the side (the offer several). Overall, it was a good experience.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Morton’s Steakhouse, and I can confidently say it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm, elegant, and inviting—perfect for a special night out. The lighting was just right, and the atmosphere struck the perfect balance between upscale and comfortable. Now let’s talk about the food—absolutely phenomenal. I ordered the bone-in ribeye, and it was cooked to perfection: juicy, flavorful, and incredibly tender. Paired with the Gouda bacon potato dish, it was pure heaven. And to top it all off, the watermelon mojito was refreshing, vibrant, and the perfect complement to the meal. What truly made the night stand out, though, was the exceptional service. Our server Kamal went above and beyond to make my boyfriend’s day extra special. He was warm, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcomed. It’s rare to find service that feels both professional and personal, but Kamal nailed it—thank you for making our evening unforgettable. We’ll definitely be back—and we’ll be asking for Kamal again!

I stopped by Morton’s for their happy hour — or as they call it, “Power Hour” — and wow, it definitely lived up to the name! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with genuine smiles from the host and bartenders. Owen and Jack were absolute stars — friendly, attentive, and the kind of people who make you feel like a regular even on your first visit. They had such great chemistry behind the bar — it made the whole experience even better! I ordered the fried chicken sliders (highly recommend!) — crispy, flavorful, and honestly some of the best I’ve had. I paired them with the Palm Beach Passion cocktail, which was so smooth and refreshing I didn’t want it to end. Let’s just say… I could’ve stayed all evening! 🍸 What really stood out, though, was the amazing team dynamic. Everyone — from the bartenders to the managers — worked together effortlessly. Unfortunately, I didn’t catch the manager’s name, but she seemed fantastic! You could tell she really set the tone for that upbeat, welcoming energy that filled the whole place. If you’re looking for a spot that nails both atmosphere and flavor, Morton’s Power Hour is a must. I’ll definitely be back — and bringing friends next time to meet Owen and Jack! 🥂

Today was my second time dining at Morton’s in Bethesda. This time, I ordered the filet mignon and the lobster with a side of lobster macaroni shells and cheese. If you have taste for traditional mac and cheese I wouldn’t recommend the side dish as it’s tasty, but it stays true to its name: lobster, shells, and cheese. However, my server, Jeff, was amazing. His attention to detail and exceptional customer service truly set the tone for my second visit. I highly recommend this location! :)

Really loved our dinner here but what was the best part was our server Jafine. She is a really really good server. In a time where service doesn't seem to be a top priority, she really is good at her job and creating a perfect dining experience. Top % of servers EVER! Well done!

Nestled in the heart of Bethesda, Positano Ristorante is a beloved family-run establishment that has been delighting diners since 1977. With its charming Italian-themed decor and inviting outdoor seating, this restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere perfect for any occasion. Whether you're seeking warmth on a chilly evening or a romantic dinner under the stars in their picturesque courtyard, Positano delivers an unforgettable dining experience.
The best Italian in my area. I recently took my family out for dinner here. We had a good time and excellent service from the staff. It was family-owned and everyone was polite in there. And it had authentic Italian scenery both inside and outside. You could tell everything was made in house, from the bread to the sauce. The special fish of the day always hits the spot! Will be back soon!

Excellent value for your dollar. This place is a land mark in Bethesda. It has reliability good food at an excellent price. I live nearby and have been back a few times. The past was excellent and the meat was a good portion. The calamari was good, and the vegetables were good as well. Nothing was bad, but it didn't blow my socks off either. Very good service and quick seating and excellent value. I'll be back.

Was here on Tuesday night with a group of 7 people. We all enjoyed our main courses & wine. Rather big portion, which is not a problem for me personally 😁 it's only that we then couldn't finish our desserts. I love the ambience, the friendly staff, not-long wait & of course the food.

Great place to come to. Beautiful atmosphere. Friendly staff. Had spaghetti and meatball, fettuccine Alfredo. Home made mozzarella cheese with tomato n oil. Dessert. Home made lemon tart cream cake. Very good. Also crime brûlée. Great. Gonna come back for sure even tho there are many good Italian restaurants within walking distance!

The meal was amazing. Loved the penne all'arrabiatta the spicy marinara had just enough kick without over powering the dish. I added the meatballs which really took the dish over the top, they were homemade and so good! Our waiter, Jaime, was a treat as well. Great dinner!

Maybe the worst experience I have ever had. Our delivery came in these mini greasy portions. I called to ask about it and the rudest man hung up on me without so much as hearing my question. Clearly do not care about customer service. I would avoid at all cost. Also they said they do not cook with oil... you can see the volume of grease in my tiny portion.

Our retirement party at Positano's was a huge success! The servers were so very kind and sweet, the "Old Positano" room was the ideal size for a party of 50, there was a perfect set-up for a DJ, and everyone loved the appetizers and food. This is our 3rd party at Positano's. Thank you Jimmy and your staff for helping us create a memorable event.

Seafood restaurant
If you're in the mood for a delightful seafood experience, look no further than Luke's Lobster Bethesda. This charming, family-owned eatery is located in the vibrant Bethesda Row area, just a stone's throw from Caroline Freeland Urban Park. Specializing in Maine-style lobster rolls served on perfectly toasted buns, Luke’s offers a taste of New England right in Maryland.
Absolutely love any kind of their lobster rolls. Spicy honey butter lobster is one of the best. Snow crab is very moist and delicious, it is pretty good option if you want to try something other than lobster. Had the Luke’s Trio at first to try their variety option, shrimp is just alright, and crab is decent. Recommend going straight for lobster or crab roll. The lobster bisque is thick, flavorful, and creamy with lobster pieces, nice but not a must-try. I got the Lobster bisque, Luke’s trio, spicy honey butter lobster, lobster roll, snow crab roll.

Let’s start off by saying if you are not willing to pay for quality seafood then this is not the restaurant for you. I ended up getting a cup of clam chowder & a 6oz lobster roll. The chowder had a great consistency and flavor but the clams were a bit overcooked so they were super chewy. Now the roll was the star of the show. It was fresh and filling. I like that they have portion options. Overall the menu is a pricey but it’s quality.
Kai N — Google review
After hearing so much buzz about Luke's Lobster, I made a special trip to their Bethesda location with high expectations. Unfortunately, my experience fell somewhere in the middle range - not terrible, but certainly not worth the hype or price point. I ordered their signature lobster roll meal, which comes at a premium price that had me anticipating something truly exceptional. While the lobster meat was fresh, the portion size was surprisingly modest given what I paid. The roll itself was properly buttered and toasted, but the overall flavor profile was rather one-dimensional and lacked the wow factor I was hoping for. The service was efficient if not particularly memorable, and the atmosphere was pleasant enough. However, I couldn't shake the feeling of being underwhelmed throughout my meal. For the significant price point, I expected a more generous portion and more complex flavors that would justify the cost. Luke's Lobster isn't bad by any means - it's just not the extraordinary seafood experience their reputation and prices suggest. If you're curious, by all means give it a try, but manage your expectations and be prepared for a decent, albeit overpriced, meal rather than a mind-blowing culinary adventure.

The truffle lobster roll is alright and we didn’t even taste the black truffle in it. Warning ‼️ DONT EVER order the truffle lobster roll because they trick customers with that flavor and you only taste lobster in it lol. But this restaurant called Mason’s Lobster that I’ve been to in my area is better than this location. Last time when my family and friends ate the Luke’s lobster rolls in NYC, it was a lot better than this location
Felicia T — Google review
A lot of crab and a decent-sized lobster, but definitely not worth the $70. The drink menu was terrible, sides were minimal, and both the crab and lobster had zero flavor. Honestly, it was the nastiest seafood I’ve ever had in any country. The staff were super nice and the location is good, but I should have gone with my first choice—Asian Bistro. I had the 6 oz, and even that was disappointing. Maybe make the bun longer or something, because without the bread the food was even worse. Nice place and great staff, but the food was horrible....would give 1 star if nt for staff
Akaynia D — Google review
Excellent food! I got the 3 roll sampler, but they didn't bring out any butter. Is there supposed to be butter to dip the rolls in? I had a good experience here but it would have been much better if I had butter to dip the rolls in.
Kyle M — Google review
Not filling even the 6 OZ didn’t do it for me. Forgot to bring out my side of chips and also the Soup was cold we got it reheated but it really wasn’t that good. Got the lobster Bisque and it was too fishy clearly been there for a while. The only thing that was good was the location right in the heart of Bethesda and also the lobster was tasty but got 4 Lobster Rolls 2 lobster bisques and 2 drinks roughly around $180 for everything. I would say Oyster bar has better servings and for similar price but you get a lot of fries with it to fill you up. Overall was it good yes but would I come again, no.

Taco restaurant
Located in Bethesda, MD, Taqueria El Jalapeno stands out as a top-notch Mexican eatery. Surprisingly, it's not a traditional brick-and-mortar restaurant, but rather a food truck. This classic taco shop is open for lunch and dinner daily and offers a mouthwatering selection of dishes such as tacos, tortas, quesadillas, burritos, and nachos topped with their own homemade hot sauces. The prices are reasonable for the authentic flavors they serve.
Nice to have some good quick Mexican food in the Heart of Bethesda. I got a few tacos and shared some Steak Nachos, salsa was surprisingly spicy. Perfect for my taste but I think most people don't eat much of it so they give very small portions. So I'll be sure to ask for more next time. Other than that, good food at decent prices.

If you are in Bethesda and Love great Mexican food you definitely should check out this place. Very fast service. Very friendly and hardworking people. Everything here is cooked fresh. If you are driving to this location, there is a parking lot behind the market. If you don’t want to wait for your food, you can do online order. Why are you still reading this review? first time here need to come back so much on the menu to try. Salsa’s were great — Food made to order. Solid. Yum
Franklin S — Google review
The food here is very good quality, even though it's a food truck which often have low quality meats etc, this one has very good quality meats, well prepared and fresh, very fresh homemade tortillas and fresh toppings. The truck doesn't allow for much seating-- there are only two tables and one waiting table so I recommend you take your food somewhere else unless you get lucky! But for a quick delicious lunch with fresh yummy food at a reasonable price this place is terrific.

Somehow hadn’t been to this place before. Highly recommend. Everyone really liked what they ordered: al pastor burrito, birria tacos, chicken taco, carne asada tacos, and chicken enchiladas. We also ordered the churros which were really good. Also really good deal.

This was the most disgusting experience ever. I Just ordered a breakfast burrito eggs and cheese only. I don’t eat meat, after waiting 40 mins for my order they gave me a beef burrito. Immediately returned it to them, the Spanish guy at the front and the lady, not sure if it was because of my ethnicity, refused to return my corrected meal, keep telling me to wait 5 mins, waited 25 mins to no avail, if this is the service you all offer, and disrespectful towards the customers needs Stay away from here ! Disgusting……

Holy smokes I loved it! The only knock would be speed of cooking.... That's a very small penalty considering how good the food was and the depth of options offered. So many drink choices.... Day 5

Off the beaten path
For day 5, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Battery Lane Urban Park. Not quite as popular as Glen Echo Park, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 7 hours.

Battery Lane Urban Park is a charming urban park located along a trolley line trail. It offers typical amenities such as a playground, park benches, and well-maintained restrooms. Additionally, visitors can enjoy a basketball court and two fenced-in tennis courts. The park is within walking distance of the Imagination Stage children's theatre and an Italian market known for its delicious cannolis. While parking may be limited on weekdays, there are several lots within a few blocks of the park.
First time here at this park! Beautiful landscape and a great view.

It's a quiet playground accessible through the trail shade from trees isn't very big. But has everything a toddler enjoys. Friendly parents and safe neighborhood.
Sheila M — Google review
In terms of the basketball court... the floor is messed up and is known to be always dusty. Another thing to mention is that one rim is higher than the other. There are also no lights to discourage teens from hanging out at the court doing whatever they want late at night. I should also mention that the taller rim is a little bit tilted. Regardless, people from high school to college to adults still come here to hoop. I will give a fair warning that if you do hoop at battery lane, expect a scratch or two after your games at this basketball court :D. As for the tennis court, it seems to be always occupied, so i recommended timing it or sharing the court. As for the playground, there are usually a lot of little kids with their parents. This could be good to keep your child in the company of the same age group or so. To add, the big trash bin and recycle bin is relatively close to the entrance of the playground. As for the exercise station, it's still in good condition. The only thing I have to say is that it is next to some damp area, so the area is usually infested with mosquitoes. Not to mention, there's a big trash bin and recycling bin in here as well. If the trash stinks, the exercise station will also stink :D. No, there are no restrooms!!! Someone get the county or something to install one. You could potentially have a picnic at certain locations of this park.
Axzl — Google review
This is a great place to sit outside and have lunch on a weekday! During the weekday, there's not much parking in the blocks surrounding the park, so it's important to plan ahead if you want to drive, but there are a few lots within several blocks from here.

Ayrlawn Park is a charming 14.3-acre neighborhood park with a rich history of being a former dairy farm, evident in the interesting structures still present. Simply the best of Bethesda. Make Bethesda a destination for a weekend and make this a part of your trip. The Gallery is in the heart of vibrant downtown Bethesda. It sits on Norfolk Avenue - a street that has been closed all traffic so you can sit outside and eat at some great restaurants. Lots of great shopping also surrounds the gallery. Then you step inside Kaslow and are surrounded by beautiful art in a gorgeous gallery setting. Be sure and meet Amy! She is usually there and is a fascinating woman. Check out her Tedx Talk before you go.

What an extraordinary place! Much more than just a venue to buy art…it’s a warm and inviting space where art, ideas and lively conversations abound. Visited twice during my recent trip to Bethesda (from NYC) While I was drawn in by the multi-media works of Cuban painter Sandra Dooley, I was even more blown away by her story. Gallerists I interacted with were not only informed, but also so generous with their help and genuinely excited about the artist. No snooty high pressure sales here. Just a lot of good energy. Best part was all interesting people I met on both visits. This gallery seems to attract a diverse range of visitors from all walks of life…some browsing, some there to learn and others knowledgeable collectors. It’s definitely a happening place and well worth a visit.

Shouk

Vegetarian restaurant
Shouk is a plant-based street food spot that offers innovative options like oyster mushroom and veggie sausage pitas. The Choco-Cardamom cookies are also a must-try. Located in the Westbard shopping center, this family-owned business has been eagerly anticipated by locals, especially since it's a rare addition to the area's dining scene. Customers appreciate the quick and easy online ordering process and eco-friendly packaging.
I work in the Westbard shopping center (My family has had a business here for 37 years), and had long anticipated the opening of this Shouk location. We really don't get many new restaurants in this area, and especially not vegetarian ones. I used to frequent the sushi spot in the neighborhood, but after they closed, I became even more excited about this new lunch option. I ordered online (super easy and straightforward), and my food was ready in about 10 minutes, which was great. When I stepped inside to pick up my order, I felt instantly welcome, and was greeted by a friendly gentleman with a big smile. It basically gives warm family vibes, with a fast casual twist. I ordered the Mushroom Shawarma bowl, and opted to add cauliflower and hummus (came out to around $14.00 or so). Presentation and size were ideal, and it smelled wonderful. I also appreciated the environmentally friendly packaging, and the wooden flatware. My meal was super flavorful, and definitely hit the spot. I know many people always think they will be hungry after a vegetarian meal, but I felt completely satisfied after the hefty portion size that was given. Based on the food and experience, I will defiantly be returning frequently, but my one and only complaint is that they don't have any calorie or nutritional information available. I checked on their website, paper menu, and even asked the friendly person at the front, but it was confirmed that they do not have that information available. As someone who is health conscious, this would be extremely helpful for me to be able to try more of their options, and return more frequently. Very excited to have you all as a neighbor, and looking forward to my next meal at Shouk Bethesda (Westwood). P.S. The reason I don't have a photo of my food to share is because I ate it too quickly, lol. It was that good :)

Ordered Mushroom Shawarma. Food tasted ok but upset my stomach almost immediately. Contacted their support and they suggested it being food allergy because no one else complained for similar issue that night. I don't really have allergy. They offered some rewards credit which I refused since I'm not planning to visit again. Just want to put my experience there in case I'm not the only one.

When they are at their best the food is an easy 5 stars. However, recently been some consistency issues so can only give 4.

Today I tried the Shouk’n Caesar and it was very good. The fried oyster mushroom is delicious. I look forward to trying other items on the menu. Seems like a solid concept. (Had to downgrade review because they got rid of this menu item. Very disappointing. Won’t be back.)

The falafel sandwich was ok. Nothing outstanding. $13.50 for a sandwich.. falafel Inc and Amsterdam falafel shop are much better. Sauces here also cost $1! No tzatziki or garlic sauce either. The are nice and good service though.

I am so happy that they opened up near me. The food is delicious! I ordered takeout and it was ready quickly. And I am very happy that they use earth friendly containers - no plastic!! A great experience all around.

Ordered carry out and got a Shouk'n pita and a za'atar cauliflower bowl. I'd order both again. Looking forward to trying the Shouk burger, spice fries, and cardamom chocolate chip cookies too!

This is a nice little playground away from busy streets. It's fairly busy in the morning with smaller kids and their caregivers. There is a good variety of equipment and it's usually very clean.

Field #2 is a swamp behind home plate, even after a week of no rain. This field is not maintained by MoCo and it's shameful they call this a baseball field.
Ted S — Google review
This Park is a great place to take your kids, as it has an interesting set of play equipment like swings, a seasaw, slides, a wooden train, monkey bars, and more! I walk my dog there every day and it has a large grassy feild for him to run in. The park does not have a fenced in area for dogs so you need to have good control over him or her when you let them off leash. Overall it is a good place to meet up with other dog owners to let your pup's play, as well as a great place to bring your kids.

Played tennis at these quiet neighborhood courts recently. Lots of summer bugs but the courts are shaded and well maintained.
Tanmit S — Google review
It’s a park. Has 2 baseball fields, large green space for soccer match or 2. Tennis and b-ball courts and a sizable park w/ swings and stuff.
Graham S — Google review
Big playground, parking available and there is also a big field, kids can have a lot of fun.

Belgian restaurant
Bar & grill
Mussel Bar & Grille is a popular spot in downtown Bethesda, Maryland, offering a relaxed atmosphere and a variety of delicious dishes. The restaurant is known for serving mussels, frites, wood-fired tarts, and Belgian brews. It's part of Chef Robert Wiedmaier's collection of restaurants and focuses on Euro-style gastropub cuisine with an emphasis on seafood. The menu also includes wood-fired pizza, sandwiches, burgers, and various proteins.
If you like mussels, you'll love this place. Mussels are big and juicy and cooked to perfection. You have the classic white wine sauce but they also have fantastic other favors. The Thai is flavorful and light and just a tad bit spicy; the Mediterranean has goat cheese which works quite well, this is a pretty feeling dish and so is the Bolognese with its egg and parmesan cheese. I also tried the charbroil oysters which were a bit too bread. The chocolate mousse is amazing as is the dessert cheese. The cocktails are expertly made! The restaurant is clean and bright as it is lined by windows. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.
Adriana M — Google review
A friend and one each had a half serving of mussels for lunch. We each got 2 dozen plus mussels cooked perfectly but the sauces were noticeably salty to the point of not wanting to drink them up. She had the standard white wine sauce and I had the Kennett Square which had a few visible mushrooms but lots of bacon lardons. We shared a serving of French fries which were good but not great. The three sauces for the fries ranged from very hot spice to medium hot spice to a cool mayo.

This new location is pretty small, and there is no bar. The previous location off Woodmont had a great bar, so that is definitely missed. The spaces between tables are really tight as well, so I guess, this place is just small and cramped. Also, they need better lighting as if you sit by the windows at night, it was really hard to see the menu. They don't have any draft beers which is a bummer. So, I tried their take on Old Fashioned, the Joie. It is smoked and has a good presentation. The drink was pretty good. We did enjoy the food, thus, the higher rating. Great Caesar salad and tuna tartare to start, and their mussels are still good. The full pot is huge- I think 3 or 4 people can share one. A big plus, no sand in our mussels. Our waitress was very friendly and for the most part was attentive. They don't take reservations, so I would recommend going early.
Eddie K — Google review
The oysters were phenomenal, the mussels very closed to the one we eat in Europe. The service and the host person very professional and welcoming. Only one thing just 1 desert having spent more than 20 years in the restaurant business you want to sell more offer the choices. We will be back for sure.

Food and atmosphere: You have to try this place!!! great atmosphere, and even better food. very upscale vibes without any stuffiness. Great lunch prices and happy hour is very generous. I tried the house oysters 1 dozen and the steak frites with Chimichurri topping.l as well as the white sangria. I loved the frites so much I ordered a portion to take home for my family. (P.s. I am a lover of sangria and I can confidently say that their mixologist knows what he’s doing behind the bar) if you aren’t hungry stop by to grab an amazing drink Service: Joshua was my server. He was attentive and thorough in taking care of my every need. I felt like royalty 😆. Also very knowledgeable on the drinks and menu options and was happy to give recommendations to me. Overall this place gets 10/10 from me. Only thing that could have made it better would be company to enjoy the delicious food with . Come check them out!!!’

Exceeded my expectations. This place has been on my list for a while and I almost didn’t go; glad I did, it was spectacular. Forgot to take a photo of dessert but that was amazing too. I am thinking of coming back and it hasn’t even been a week yet 😂😂

Out third visit, and it was as good as the previous times. My wife aand I tripped over this restaurant on our last trip to the US in May. A "quick lunch" turned into a very relaxed and delightful meal. We took a local fiend back with us a few days later and she in turn, has visited often since then. Dinner last night was excellent. The oysters were fresh and perfectly presented and our go-to main - the Thai curry mussels - were on the mark again.

Had some business in Bethesda and hadn't been to the muscle bar and grill in Bethesda. Turns out it was the same restaurant but had moved from a location we had visited a number of times. Still is, as was, great muscles. Big plump, juicy and tasted great. We had a super lunch.

American restaurant
Barrel & Crow is a rustic-modern eatery in Bethesda, Maryland, offering Mid-Atlantic dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant takes pride in its Maryland roots and offers an innovative menu inspired by the late Edgar Allen Poe. With a focus on high-quality, locally-sourced ingredients, the restaurant provides an expansive happy hour array featuring skillfully prepared dishes at affordable prices. The rustic atmosphere of the restaurant exudes an easygoing, casual vibe with large windows that open into their patio.
Very nice place in Downtown Bethesda. They have large menu options for the drink and beers. Lots indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered duck tostadas, spiced shrimp n grits, soup of the day and hanger steak and eggs. We love the hanger steak and eggs so much, and their soup of the day were super delicious, perfect for hungover. Just to be clarified, the bottomless is optional either Mimosas or Bloody Marry, Not for both. Overall, everything else was great! They really done a great job on the potatoes with the steak.

This unassuming place in Bethesda is a diamond in the rough. A beach town look with a great patio, you would think you're in Rehoboth or similar. Inside is a large dining area and separate bar/dining area. The menu is eclectic, family oriented, with many great choices to satisfy multiple tastes. There's a wonderful beer selection, but the bourbon selection is unbelievable. Our family had a wonderful dinner. The gumbo was really great. Generous portions of seafood and sausage, and a homemade roux. The 13 year old loved her cheeseburger with egg on top and duck fat fries. The wife had fried green tomatoes and the duck fat fries. I would recommend the restaurant for almost any occasion; dates, family dinner, check out a game, a nice day on the patio.

Really nice place with good food and service. I was surprised by the quality of food and attentive service we received during brunch. Good bottomless mimosas are a plus
Adrian J — Google review
Stopped in on a sunny afternoon. I like that there are big open windows to the outdoor patio, that feels really spacious. Service was quick and attentive. The menu had lots of options without being too large. We decided on the hanger steak with duck fat fries. Unfortunately the food is where we weren’t as impressed. Maybe just an off day, but the steak was over cooked (ordered medium rare) and did not have any seasoning. The fries were done well and not greasy. We also did a side of the collard greens which were just a touch plain. I would come again, we were just let down by the steak. In hindsight we probably should have asked for another. Still worth checking out.

The Barrel & Crow was recommended by our AirBnB host. We dined at this location for Brunch on a Sunday. The service was slow, wait staff made errors in placing an order and subsequently corrected the order by bringing the correct dish. The waiter said to just leave the original entree on the table. Out of the blue, the manager came to the table, raised his voice, and demanded to remove the original entree. Just terrible deportment. My Brioche French Toast was soaked with Apricot (which should have been placed on the side). Just a terrible experience.

I love their happy hour so make sure to sit by the bar area. I had a coke, the duck fat fries, brisket sliders and wings which only cost $24.38. I have to say that all the food were delicious. The food was brought to me in a timely manner and fresh out of the stove. The service was great. I would definitely be back!

If you're looking for a solid whiskey selection in Bethesda, this is the place. Popped in here on the last day of a business trip, and I wish I'd found it on the first. Good food, good service, good music... and a few nice pours. Laura runs a great place here (thanks for chatting with me)... I'll be back the next time I'm in town.

Ice cream shop
Sarah's Handmade Ice Cream, located in Bethesda, is a charming shop owned by a mother-daughter duo, Sarah and Annie Park. The long and narrow space offers limited seating inside and outside. They take pride in using primarily local ingredients for their small-batch, all-natural ice cream recipes. During the pandemic, they generously donated hundreds of scoops to healthcare workers.
Great atmosphere. Lots of familiar and unique flavor choices. Good quality. They have flights available for sampling multiple flavors, I would recommend! I ended up having 9 total scoops between the flight and the extra scoops. Several of my selections were particularly good, the Oreo, Sandy Shore, the Ube, peppermint, and the blonde. It's a must visit if your like ice cream and are in the area! My friends who joined me agreed it was worth the trip!

Sarah’s Handmade is hands-down my favorite ice cream spot in the DMV. It’s a super cute mom-and-daughter–run shop with three locations, and they always have the most fun seasonal flavors. Some of my favorites are Black Sesame Crumb Cake, Matcha Cheesecake, Salted Oatmeal Cookie, and Banana Pudding . My boyfriend is obsessed with their “Pure Chocolate,” and I’m hooked on the “Dark Roasted Espresso Bean”, “Peanut Butter Fudge”, and “Black Raspberry Chip.” The staff is always so warm and friendly. I love chatting with the owners Sarah and Annie. They are the sweetest people ever!!!You can tell how passionate they are about making the highest quality ice cream and absolutely love what they do. I actually live about an hour away, but I’ll still make the drive just to grab a scoop. It’s completely worth it!

Great flavors with some unique ones and seasonal ones as well. Many options such as brownie and cookie sandwiches too. The ice cream was rich and delicious. Highly recommend!!

Sarah’s is an absolute gem. If you are searching for an ice cream shop that is timeless and unforgettable, this place delivers. From the moment you walk in you are greeted by a wonderful team of young people. They are prompt and attentive. The flavors don’t chase fads or gimmicky combinations, they capture the essence of the classic flavors that you want to enjoy. The seasonal treats are a fun addition in the rotation. In short, Sarah’s is a good reminder of why the classics never go out of style.

I use to go to the spot in west bethesda. my orthodontist was near. I love this place the ice cream is so creamy. I wish they come to nova. I usually get the oreo lover. but have also tried the blueberry swirl which is also good.

What a true delicacy. My kids and I enjoy the ice cream here so much. It truly is one of a kind delicious gourmet ice cream.
Jasmin H — Google review
I wish I could give more than 5 stars. I know that Sarah’s has gotten its flowers in the DMV, but as someone who recently moved to the area from NYC, it deserves even more. This is simply the best ice cream I have ever had. You may have the inclination to avoid the classic flavors and only try Sarah’s “cooler creations” that inclination is wrong. Not because the “cooler creations” aren’t great, but because the classic flavors will rewire your brain chemistry. The first time I tried the butter pecan (one of my favorites) I was upset because every butter pecan id ever eaten paled in comparison. I cant recommend this place enough. On top of the phenomenal ice cream the staff is outstanding, warm, kind and attentive. Go get some ice cream, you deserve it!
Rachel P — Google review
Great ice cream with tons of flavors, one flavor for $5, two for $6! Like most places, they offered free samples and I really appreciated the clipboard wall to clearly display all the flavors they had available. There were 3 different freezers, and so many options for cones, shakes, toppings, and even pints to take home 🍦🍨 I really enjoyed the matcha cheesecake and the orange chocolate chip flavors, as well as red velvet cake that had chunks of cake in their ice cream, that I tried but there were so many to choose from that I couldn’t try so I’d be happy to check it out again!

Sichuan restaurant
Chinese restaurant
Q by Peter Chang is a contemporary Chinese restaurant located in Bethesda, showcasing the fiery and bold flavors of Sichuan cuisine. Led by renowned chef Peter Chang, this upscale eatery offers visually stunning and delicious dishes such as spicy tofu and crispy Sichuan duck. The restaurant has gained a reputation for its consistent quality and unique offerings, setting it apart from typical Chinese restaurants. While not inexpensive, the dining experience promises to be unforgettable.
TLDR: Amazing Dim Sum, especially the All You Can Eat on Weekends! The atmosphere was so calming, comforting, and peaceful, with most earth tones and and open concept. The employees were attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and patient. They made sure that we were taken care of without being nagging. The food was amazing! We loved every part of our experience, and we will definitely be returning!
Perry G — Google review
I recently invited Professor Michael B., a long-time colleague and friend over three decades, for a lunch gathering at Q By Peter Chang, located in the heart of downtown Bethesda, Maryland. This elegant restaurant is the flagship of the Peter Chang Restaurant Group, which boasts over a dozen establishments across Maryland, Virginia, and Connecticut. Mr. Peter Chang himself is a culinary legend. Originally from China and trained in traditional Chinese cuisine, he once served as a chef at the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C., where he famously prepared a meal for former Chinese President Hu Jintao. Though known for his mastery of Szechuan cuisine, Q By Peter Chang offers a variety of curated menu that includes dishes from various regions of China. Our culinary journey began with the restaurant’s signature puffed sesame bread, a stunning balloon-like creation that’s both fun and flavorful. As a first course, we shared their Peking Duck, prepared with an elaborate technique and served with all the traditional accompaniments. Next came Crabmeat and Pork Soup Dumplings, known as Xiaolongbao—a delicacy from Jiangsu cuisine. The delicate skins and rich broth were excellent. Because my friend enjoys spicy dishes, we ordered a trio of bold and flavorful options: Sichuan Boiled Fish, Sichuan Spicy Beef Dips, and Sautéed Cumin Lamb—the last being a classic from Xinjiang cuisine. Each dish was distinctive and well-executed, showcasing the diversity of regional Chinese flavors. To accompany the meal, we enjoyed a glass of chilled Qingdao Beer and soothing jasmine blossom green tea, balancing the spice with refreshing and aromatic notes. Though the lunch leaned on the pricier side—costing about two and one-third Benjamins—it was well worth it. After all, a reunion over exceptional food with a dear friend and long-time colleague is something no price can truly measure.

The service here is excellent, all of our servers were attentive and friendly. We enjoyed our meal but the orange chicken and the mountain chicken were both overly sweet. The 4 pepper chicken on the other hand was very tasty and flavorful. HIGHLY recommend the black sesame custard bao.

Stopped by Q by Peter Chang. The place wasn’t packed and service was just okay, not the friendliest. Drinks and apps were good, and most of the entrees were solid, but the Dragon Eggplant was pretty bland. Dessert was a miss, the Mango Pomelo Tapioca wasn’t our thing at all (one bite was enough). Overall, not bad, but I’ll stick with Peter Chang’s in Gaithersburg since it’s closer and consistently better in my opinion.

Absolutely delicious, we love everything we ordered, pork rib soup, chongqing dice chicken, most favorite thing was the Wuhan sesame noodles
Tommy T — Google review
I’ve been to this restaurant before, but this recent visit was extremely disappointing. My husband and I brought two of our friends for them to try Chinese dimsum for the first time but this restaurant just failed us. The service was awful – the Chinese lady server at the door was incredibly rude and unprofessional. During a previous visit for dim sum, we asked about Xiao Long Bao and she was impatient and lied to us it would take 20 minutes, when we were okay with the wait she was surprised (which confirmed my feelings that she didn’t want us to order) but it actually took only 3 minutes for XiaoLongBao to be served. This time, there was a wedding, so no dim sum was served, and anyone ordering from the regular menu had to sit outside in the windy weather. This is something they could have easily indicated on their website, but clearly they don’t care about keeping customers informed. The same lady who lied about our dimsum was at the door today. She showed zero interest in helping us. I made multiple direct eye contacts with her to get her attention but she deliberately ignored me. When I walked up to speak with her, she literally turned her back toward me. ??? Completely unacceptable behavior. Thankfully, another server (a Chinese man) finally helped us get a table. Unfortunately, the food wasn’t any better. The meatball looked like it had been smashed before serving, the vegetables were not fresh, and even the fork was poorly shaped. The overall quality control was terrible.
Annie C — Google review
——- Aug 2025 I was a bit annoyed because they were supposed to serve dim sum brunch on weekends, but due to a wedding reception, they only offered individual dishes instead of the dim sum brunch. They seated us outside, where there were bugs flying around and the table was wobbly. The food was tasty and the servers weren’t bad, but it was really inconvenient that they didn’t post any notice on their website. You have to call every time to check before going. ——- Mar 2025 Moderately priced, very authentic Chinese restaurant. Parking is available nearby at a public lot for $1.75 per hour. During the weekend, they offer AYCE dimsum lunch $30/person. It’s the best one.
