Hiking Trails
Willingdon Beach Park in Powell River offers a variety of activities for visitors. Families can enjoy exploring tidal pools at Porpoise Bay and letting kids play on the playground. Swimming is available during warmer months, but there are also aquatic centers nearby if the water is too cold. The park features a volleyball court, two playgrounds, a waterpark, and a dock for jumping into the water. Additionally, there are great trails for walking and beautiful views to take in.
This is our families go-to beach. It has a wonderful strand where we see dolphins and even whales sometimes when the tide is out and they hunt along the drop off. There are tiny crabs that my littlest loves to hunt, and sand, huge logs, and a variety of rock for creative play. The playground is great for able-bodied kids of developmental ages up to 10 or so. Somewhat accessible, though not great: there is an adult compatible hybrid swing and zipline, but it's in a area you have to step down to get into. Ramps on the equipment but a wheelchair won't get far, etc. The spirit is there but the scope is small. Accommodations are angled for adult sized bodies with some minor limits. There's a pier, great for crabbing, and a campground right next door. The park has a decent concession, open in summer, and washrooms, open all year. There is a wonderful gazebo that is used for local celebrations three seasons of the year, and tiered seating facing the water that sees a lot of use when we have fireworks. There's frequently festivals and markets in the summer, and it's a gathering place year round. What else can I say? It's our favorite park.

This place is amazing with so much space for every size of tent or RV. The beach, pier, and parks are amazing. The people are great too. The couple running the place were so informative and kind. They have great service and cleaning daily and this site is extremely well kept. Highly recommend.

Cool place. Came here for cross country islands. The only thing that wasn’t good was the men’s washrooms were out of order.
Liam S — Google review
The advantages of this campsite are free fast WiFi and its proximity to the city. However, the disadvantages are that the campsite is right next to the highway, leading to significant car noise. Additionally, the campsites are too close to each other, providing no privacy, and we were disturbed by the neighbors' snoring all night. Showers are charged by time: 4 CAD per minute.
Jack D — Google review
Had a great time at Willingdon Beach Park. There's a burger, chicken finger & fries stand, decent sized park for the kids, water park, ice cream and mini golf across the street as well. Definitely great spot for camping or day use for the whole family. Would highly recommend checking out.
Jerome T — Google review
It's main centre point of town. Nice place for picnic and you can enjoy lot of activities like playing volleyball, walking along the trail reaching upto second beach, doing swimming. Above all during evening people come here especially to see one of the world's best Sunset view from here.
MEENA S — Google review
Such a lovely little park and beach! There is a volleyball court, 2 playgrounds, a waterpark, a dock to jump into the water from and so many trees for those who need a break from the sun! There is also a sweet little cafe/fish and chip place! All these things make this park a wonderful must see. You don't quite get to see as much of the water as you may like but all the amenities make up for it!
Medāneghā́ʼ L — Google review
We had already spent the day at another beach in the area but wanted to take in the sunset at Willingdon Beach Park. We were not disappointed. There were some benches to just rest at and drink in the vibrant colours. This park is perfect for everyone- there’s a playground- plenty of grass area…loads of beach access. Simply lovely!

Base Camp Coffee is a charming and rustic café in an adventurous town. It offers a delightful selection of hearty breakfasts and brunches, as well as delicious paninis. The mushroom panini, in particular, stands out for its delectable taste. Additionally, the café serves sides of soups that perfectly complement the main dishes. For those with a sweet tooth, Base Camp Coffee has thirty ginger cookies available for purchase. The portions served are satisfying and will leave you feeling full.
Lovely place to spend a rainy morning. All of the drinks on the menu looked delicious. I appreciate the 20 ounce “Yeti” sized beverages when you just want a really big cup of tea. My friend liked the salted butter latte so much she ordered two. I didn’t notice any gluten free food options.

Popped in here after returning from Lund and waiting in the ferry to head back to Comox. Great shop that totally had their look and feel dialed and love their branding. I was able to enjoy a snack made fresh and a great coffee with solid free wifi working on my laptop in a funky and cool atmosphere. If I’m in town waiting on the ferry again I will walk over here again for sure

Super cute little coffee shop and cafe in downtown Powell River. Friendly staff and yummy food and coffee! I was satisfied with the vegan options. Loved the local art on the walls too. We will be back!

We enjoyed delicious paninis - the one with mushroom was was so tasty - sides of soups and took home a pack of thirty ginger cookies. Portions were filling . Great spot for a brunch, lunch or treats if ever in Powell River.

I love the selection of food and baked goods. The tofu scramble was delicious, and their coffee is just thing right way to start a day.

Very friendly and helpful staff, cozy and relaxed atmosphere. I enjoyed a cup of hot, dark coffee sitting cross legged next to a bright window and listening to a barista answer the questions of a curious 7 year old customer from across the counter.👍😊 Provided almond milk for my coffee at no extra charge and had a great selection of magazines to enjoy.
Jillian C — Google review
Heard some amazing things about this shop, was excited to stop in and try it. The food and drinks were good but the service was unlike anything I have ever experienced. The lady serving us seemed as if we were inconveniencing her by our mere presence. I inquired about ice cream floats and instead of a simple no, I was made to feel like a toddler who was in trouble. My girlfriend picked up a punch card to admire the design and branding and it was quickly ripped from her hand. Very puzzling. Coffee was great though.

Lovely brewery! You’re welcome to bring your own food and dogs are welcome on the patio and in their Beer Garden. Beer garden is just behind the brewery; family friendly, pet friendly and lots of shade/privacy. Beers are fantastic, staff is incredibly friendly and overall it’s always a fantastic time. There’s no view of the ocean, but the greenness and the openness of the Beer Garden very much makes up for it. Great spot to relax and have a beer on a sunny afternoon!

Atmosphere was great, the girl running the bar was amazing. I love there was cards/ board games to play! Such a cute place to go for a drink before the ferry!

Loved it! nothing bad to say about the place, I loved to area it's in... the old side of Powell River is history rich and just such a charming little area I think! I only had a couple of things on tap but absolutely loved them. This is a kid friendly place, so feel free to bring the whole family. very cool and charming little place. When I'm back again I will be visiting here again maybe I can get a tour and interview the owner.

Chill spot with great drinks, friendly staff, and good vibes Townsite Brewing is easy to find with plenty of street parking nearby. We dropped by during happy hour on a weekday and had such a great time. The staff was super friendly and bubbly—she offered us samples to help us decide what to order, which was a nice touch. Both the cocktail and the cider we chose were delicious and well-balanced. The space has a laid-back, welcoming vibe with board games and cards available—perfect for a relaxed afternoon over a few drinks. Oh, and don’t miss the resident shop cat—adorably lazy and a total vibe. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in Powell River!

A full history of the brewer and the whole process! I actually learned a lot :) I like the size of the brewery too. Not too big, loud and echoey, but also not too small. They also have a super cute back patio! I would recommend it!

I like this one. Wide choice of some very memorable beers and a terrific view of the paper mill. Can totally recommend!

We loved this beer brewery and dog/kids friendly back yard. It was a great atmosphere to enjoy their tasty beer. Food was also good!

Lovely brewery visit in Powell River. We enjoyed our flights and appreciated the play area and all the arcade and board games for our families. Beer was delicious with a great variety to try. The staff seemed absolutely miserable from the moment we walked in which really spoiled the overall experience and why I would take a star off the review. They were so grumpy and irritated when we needed a moment to decide on our flights (no one else was there waiting to order either). Hopefully it was just a bad day and we will have a better service experience next time

Nestled along the serene banks of Powell Lake, Mowat Bay Park is an idyllic destination for a weekend escape filled with water adventures. This family-friendly park boasts a sandy beach perfect for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and boating. Visitors can take advantage of the convenient boat launch and enjoy designated swimming areas that are roped off for safety.
Family-friendly beach on Powell Lake. Lots of parking and beach access. A nice terraced area to set up away from the water. The only drawback was the geese have overrun the area so pick a spot free of goose poo. There are washrooms and a good playground for the kids.

Beautiful park and bay. Nice dock and boat launch. Roped off area for swimming. Nice beach for sitting, relaxing and enjoying the peaceful serene view of Powell Lake. Usually a few geese in the area enjoying the beach as well. Nice playground for kids to play in with swings.

Such a wonderful little spot for a nice swim and picnic with the family. Public washroom facilities, parking and a combination of shade and sun spots make it perfect. And the surrounding scenery makes it very tranquil.

Provincial park
Inland Lake Provincial Park, situated in Powell River on the Sunshine Coast, offers a picturesque 13-km wheelchair-accessible loop trail for hiking and cycling. The park's 2,757-hectare area attracts day and overnight visitors with activities such as canoeing, kayaking, swimming, trout fishing, and wildlife viewing. It is also a stop on the 180-km Sunshine Coast Trail. Nearby attractions include Powell Forest Canoe Route and Mowat Bay Beach.
Gorgeous camp spot. Coming down can be a bit hairy for low clearance vehicles but the sites are very clean and ranger is very friendly. Park has a dock for smaller craft and day use picnic tables. Pit toilets and well water from a hand pump
Daisuke S — Google review
The lake is beautiful but if I had been made aware off all the snakes and frogs I would have never done this walk around the lake, it became a nightmare just hundreds of them.
Taryn M — Google review
Neat park way out in the middle of nowhere. Lots of wildlife around. We saw tons of snakes around. Some of the trails can get pretty muddy so be aware of that. Overall, a neat area I definitely want explore more in the future!
Liam W — Google review
Stunning area with amazing hiking trails. The trails we completed were dog friendly as well (as long as they’re leashed). Parking was easy too, but this was in winter time (can imagine this place being fairly crowded in summer).
Christy — Google review
Nice, maintained, 13km multi-use path around this astutely-named Inland Lake - great for trail jogging (which I was doing), though beware of cyclists, some of whom don't slow down (there probably should be a separate path for cyclists/wider path / dismounting rules on blind corners). There is a path off the north-west corner of the lake which I investigated - the main trail of which seemed to end in cottages (whose tenants stared at me with furrowed brows like it was a trail only for their use...), though there were many sidetrails which I did not check out. There is a fair bit of parking near the boat launch at the south-east corner of the lake. There are various mini-beaches where I observed people swimming. There are outhouses by the boat launch and a few other spots around the lake. Excellent recreational path overall.
Darryl B — Google review
Beautiful lake area. The only issue is on sunny days the boat launch and camping dock get pretty crowded. Located a bit far on dirt roads
Jerome T — Google review
An amazing hike through this place, lots of wildlife, be bear aware and watch out where you step because there are sooooo many tiny toads and frogs. The bridge is broken, so please be very careful you dare to cross.
Monster M — Google review
Don’t worry about the broken bridge - it’s perfectly passable on foot. The campground is lovely and host _extremely_ friendly. There is a great swimming jetty with a ladder on the end for those warm lake swims. Though most are reserved there are a handful of first come first served spots. Also, the ravens are super loud, so bring earplugs if you are sensitive to that kind of thing.

Restaurant
Nestled in the vibrant heart of Powell River, Coastal Cookery is a delightful casual dining spot that embodies the essence of Canadian cuisine. This charming eatery boasts a lovely back patio, perfect for unwinding after an invigorating bike ride around Inland Lake. Guests can indulge in a variety of mouthwatering dishes, from Ahi Tuna Stack to Humboldt Calamari and the refreshing Cookery Chop Salad. The drink menu is equally enticing, featuring unique cocktails like the Silver Empress Sour.
My girlfriends and I went there last night. The food was great and with a good portion. We arrived there around 5:30, and there was no wait. By the time we were leaving, it was like a long line up there. I recommend you make reservations if you go for dinner. The servers were friendly there. We had a great experience last night.
Janice K — Google review
We had lunch today during our overnight visit to Powell River. It was truly delicious. I had the veggie burger which I highly recommend. The salad and fries were great as accompaniments. We shared the homemade hummus and everyone else had wings which they raved about, we always stop in when we come here. Never disappointed! Thank you.
Wendy A — Google review
There's nothing that really separates this place from other places in town for the atmosphere, it's nice, don't get me wrong. The patio is ocean view, however it's on a back alley so you get a lot of ambient noise of trucks unloading cargo and such, not the worst experience ever though. It was fairly busy and not enough staff apparently for the amount of people, things we slow even to get seated initially, they were all very polite and apologetic for the inconvenience. The food was extremely quick to come out though! like we were shocked actually. And WOW we were impressed right to the last bite. My wife even went so far as to say that it may have been the best burger she had ever had...EVER? apparently so! I would venture to guess we caught them on a lunch rush and would like to come here again, besides the lull in service everything was great!
Brandon B — Google review
If I could give 10 stars, I would. My husband and I were visiting Powell River and went to Coastal Cookery on our first night in town. We ended up coming back three days in a row because it was THAT good. I want to highlight our experience on that first night with our amazing waitress, Lauren, who went above and beyond to give us the best service we’ve had on our entire trip - probably ever! I can’t tolerate citrus or vinegar very well, and when I told Lauren about my restrictions, she took the time to make sure the dishes I ordered were safe for me to eat. Not only that, but when I mentioned that I’d love to try the Lavender Spritz (which contains citrus), she came up with a solution. A big thank you to Lauren - your outstanding service is what kept us coming back! Now, the food: nothing short of amazing. I had the lingcod burger, my husband had the ribs, we started with the buttermilk BBQ chicken, and finished with the crème brûlée. Everything was incredible! Literally the best food I’ve had in ages. Lauren had recommended the bread pudding, but we were too full that night, so of course we HAD to come back. And we did - two more times! Each visit we enjoyed snacks, drinks, and desserts, and every time both the food and the service were excellent. I can’t recommend Coastal Cookery enough. 10/10 - make sure to go when you’re in Powell River!
Kat W — Google review
Our server here was super nice and attentive. The restaurant has a small but nice balcony, or there is ac if you prefer inside seating. A group of us came during happy hour, which was actually a decent sized menu! The bellinis on happy hour were really good, and they also had a drink that consisted of gin, soda, and bellini slush. The food was okay. I had the smash burger with half fries and half salad. I really liked the fries because they were super crispy and fresh, and the salad was tasty and healthy. But I thought that the burger was too salty, and I felt like it was missing something. Maybe adding something sweet like a bacon jam would have been perfect? My friends had the cod burger. It was a decent sized portion but there was barely any tartar sauce, so we had to ask for a side of it and add it ourselves. The cod itself was good though! The brussels sprouts were on happy hour and were nice and crispy but I think they had too much parmesan on top!
Melissa D — Google review
As someone who grew up in Powell River when dining options were few, and fine dining was almost nonexistent, it is nice to return home and visit good rooms like Coastal Cookery. Great views and a uniquely decorated restaurant. Service was great and dinner was excellent. I particularly liked the salad and the apple dessert.
Norman F — Google review
A must-visit spot in Powell River. I came in for happy hour and was impressed with their great drink and tasty small plates. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a modern coastal vibe that fits perfectly with the location. Service was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience feel polished yet relaxed.

My friend and I just spent the weekend on the Sunshine Coast. On our last night we had dinner at the Coastal Cookery in Powell River. Our meal was excellent, and the service was awesome. Our server, Haley, gave us excellent recommendations. Our food was absolutely delicious. When we arrived it was late in the evening and we appreciated Haley telling us up front what was sold out. We knew we were in for good, fresh, food when we learned some of the menu items were sold out. This told us this was a good restaurant. Luckily we found good selections from the remaining items and we were not disappointed. This dinner capped off an awesome weekend. We will be back to the Coastal Cookery.

Dropped in Sunday for a quick bite. They were closing in 10 minutes but invited us to stay and order what we wanted, awesome. Quick coffee service and we ordered the Heavenly Hash and the Large Jenny Cake pancake with Blueberries. Best pancake I have ever had with generous amounts of Blueberries and good Maple Syrup. My wife had the Hash which was cooked to perfection. Very friendly staff and unique place. Great back story and pictures on the walls. Highly recommended!

Took my wife on a trip for her birthday and visited what we thought was a great place and boy where we wrong! Started off with my food being wrong and way over cooked then a fight broke out in the kitchen and the two guys started breaking dishes and one guy even was throwing knives. The poor waitress who I must say was super sweet and nice tried breaking it up but had no luck they made her start crying. In the end there was dishes covering the whole kitchen and stuff everywhere. The poor waitress was absolutely distraught. I have never been to a place with such a horrible experience ever. This place just needs to close and get it's stuff together.
Dustin M — Google review
I wanted to share my experience from my birthday vacation this past September . Weekend of 5th to 7th Service was slow and there was only ourselves and a table of 6/8 behind us. The girl was young so I was open to possibly still learning as she was very polite with a very mild quiet demeanor . My husband's Benny was disappointing, over cooked eggs ,his crispy potatoes weren't crispy cause they were over cooked but crispy cause some weren't cooked enough . I suggested he send it back which he hates to do but did and opted on toast instead as he didn't want to wait long or make me eat alone . The waitress apologized for the problem and said the meal would be Comped by the establishment . Shortly after the kitchen broke out in a shouting match between what I believe was the chef and another male possibly server dresses in black The arguing was heard from the patio, then came the Smashing dishes and when my husband said that is the kitchen I jumped out of my chair The young girl was standing at the bar counter crying ,yelling into the kitchen for them to stop .I blew past her with my husband in tow , as he wasn't letting me go in there alone The kitchen was turned upside down ,and the man dressed in black was welding a broom in defence from a chef throwing stuff.. .needles to say our yelling and our ability to take action into the kitchen drove the chef out the back door and he left yelling names at us also . Service was clearly over. The man dressed as a server in black was trying to make excuses ..I quickly said there's customers here.you are just as bad ..I was not impressed of what I witnessed. He respectfully agreed and apoligized quickly not to escalate another confrontation I found the waitress hiding in the laundry room down the hall sobing calling the OTHER owner .I say OTHER cause THE CHEF was part owner as stated by waitress. After briefly consoling her I told her what she needed to do as she still had customers out there.Comp their meal to save face for what just happened and to find another job if that's an owner that is no place to work .I suggested the same to the male dressed in black . As she stayed in the laundry room on the phone we went back to the patio where the table of 6/8 sat in shock but had not moved they applauded us for doing something.I told them that was unacceptable and apoligized for what they just witnessed and if the waitress does what I suggest she will be Comping their meal also .I told them if that happens please leave her a great tip .After a day like that she deserves it . With already tipping her in the laundry room We left more on the table for her .I drank my oj quickly and we left. I was in shock ..I have been a Bar and Restaurant manager for over 10 years with 25 years In the serving industry and I have never experienced anything like that as a customer . Hopefully some massive changes were/are made ... And hopefully the staff present were not left to clean up the kitchen .The mess and amount of broken dishes piled all over the floor was astronomical . Although not a great experience I will say the best part of the meal was my husband's toast and house made jam that had arrived just before the outburst . Cute place ..but I don't think we will ever return
Dion M — Google review
Absolutely the best breakfast anywhere in the province that I’ve encountered in years. The eggs Benny were done to perfection, complete with house made Hollandaise sauce. The pancakes were tasty and huge, served with fresh berries and a side bowl of real whipped cream. Portions are large. Our server, speed set to “highly efficient “ handled the whole cafe and the outside deck by herself. The fact that breakfast is included in the room cost is an added bonus.

Absolutely loved the Benny's. The biscuits they use are amazing, much better than an English muffin. Very cheerful attentive service. Even the coffee was great. highly recommend.

I always enjoy dining here! It is quite the experience if you are looking for one! Such a cute and quaint place with their friendly and personable staff members (who know how to crack jokes at just the right time!) I always leave feeling full of amazing food and wanting to go back, just as I step down the stairs. Lol. Definitely recommend this place if you are looking for good food, a calm atmosphere, and/or just somewhere cozy to enjoy a coffee looking at the sea. Oh! And their IN-HOUSE-MADE Jam is literally to die for! So good! And when the berry season is good, they sell it to customers! How amazing! Honestly, it's just the best place I've been yet. I have never had to wait in line in the handful of times I've been so far (bound to increase as time goes on) and the tables are always clean, just like the floors and everything else. A well maintained joint. I never feel as if I've spent too much for my plate; the portions are darn big! And so freakin tasty!! Drooling just thinking about their dishes! If you haven't hit up Edie Rae's Cafe, then you have not yet experienced the whole power of Powell River ❤️‍🔥

Breakfast was included with our stay at The Old Courthouse Inn. Tasty homemade breakfast with baked beans, crispy bacon and decaf coffee in a french press. They accommodated my food sensitivities. Service was friendly. The restaurant like the Inn is quaint and cozy.

Cafe
32 Lakes Cafe and Bakery is located in Powell River, offering a unique blend of a coffee roasting company and a cozy bakery. The cafe serves freshly roasted coffee beans with a focus on quality and variety. Visitors rave about the amazing croissants, including flavors like maple bacon and cheese, caramel apple and pecan, and nettle and feta.
The food is all made in house! The coffee is high quality, the cafe itself is perfect for meeting friends, doing some laptop work or chillin solo. The staff were super friendly. I love the open concept of the whole place! A must visit.

Bustling café with amazing sandwiches and a great vibe 32 Lakes Café & Bakery is a lively spot—always buzzing with customers and staff working hard behind the counter. The open-concept kitchen is a nice touch, letting you watch all the food being freshly prepared, which adds to the overall experience. I had one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever tasted here—served on a multigrain bun with local ingredients, it was packed with flavor and perfectly balanced. Definitely a standout. On the flip side, the croissant was overly buttery and felt a bit too greasy for my taste. Coffee was just average and came in a small cup, especially considering the price. That said, options in the area are limited, and this place still stands out for its energy and food quality. I’d definitely come back and try more next time I’m in town.
JJ — Google review
If I bring my friend here and they don't know what to get, I'd say something like this to them: The coffee is good. Latte is ookay. I like their cheesecakes. It goes well with the coffee. The croissant was disappointing. You know, I usually think of getting a latte and dipping my buttery and chewy croissants whenever I eat them. But this croissant made me want to get a black coffee instead, and also made me think 'ah, maybe their sourdough bread can be good'. Weird croissant. And it's $7 per one. Sourdough was ookay. It's better than the ones from Rocky. But still, it's not good enough to enjoy with just good butter and salt. I think it's perfect for sourdough sandwiches. What I recommend the most is their cheesecake with americano/drip coffee, and their vibe is really good, take the seat where you can see the ocean. Easy parking in the back. [★★★★★]: I'd think about coming here again even if it's across the continent. [★★★★]: I'd make a plan to come here. [★★★]: I'd come if I'm nearby. [★★]: I'd come if someone asks me to go with them. [★]: I'll refuse to come even if someone asks me to go with them.

Perfect place to meet up with friends, study or do some work. Could get quite busy even on weekdays and parking on the street or behind the lot may be tough. Good coffee though and definitely worth it!

The best coffee I’ve had in a while! The sweet treats are delicious, the atmosphere is clean and modern. The gem of Powell River! Will definitely be back. Because coffee this good is hard to come by these days!
Emily B — Google review
I ordered the croissant and my partner ordered the cheese bun. The croissant was light and flaky- not subtly sweet but still good. I do wish it had a bit more of a buttery or sweet taste! However, it was baked perfectly (not oily). We loved the goods so much I had to order the sweet bun. Which had the sweetness of a Cinnabon but not overpowering like a donut. Service was amazing! The barista took such good care in making my cappuccino - I could tell he loved his art form.

These guys do it right! Local ingredients, scratch kitchen, and delicious coffee roasted in town. Be sure to try their seasonal latté they never disappoint. 10/10

This is an absolute must stop in Powell River. The croissants are absolutely amazing. Me and my boyfriend tried the maple bacon and cheese, caramel apple and pecan, and nettle and feta croissants. We were in LOVE with this bakery before we walked in we were hit with the intoxicatingly delicious scent of baked goods. As we entered, I could see the croissants from the kitchen getting ready to be in my belly! You can tell the croissants are made with the labour of love of the chefs here. You can definitely taste the level of care that was put into making their croissants. My only complaint is I wish they had things clearly labeled in their bakery case of what’s available. I arrived just before 9am just as the croissants were coming out. As a I left I think I heard another item coming out too. So I’m not sure if coming right when they open is best as they had so much more to offer later! But I’m sure it’s all delicious anyway.

Magpie's Diner is a bustling spot in Cranberry, Powell River, where locals enjoy classic breakfast and lunch dishes. The diner is located in a diverse area that includes the swanky Westview, historic Townsite, the gardeners paradise of Wildwood, and the Tlaamin First Nation. The place has a lot of character with tasteful decor and friendly service.
Oh so much bacon! Great food, friendly service, and relaxing atmosphere. I ordered the Maggie's breakfast bowl and it was a large portion with lots of toppings. Eggs were cooked to perfection.

A good spot for breakfast in town. The portions are hearty, the food is tasty and the prices are reasonable. Service is straightforward, and the atmosphere has that classic small-town diner charm: casual and comfortable. A solid choice to start the day if you’re in the area.

Cozy local eatery for all day breakfast (till 2:30). Popular, busy, so be patient. Good coffee and big portions - easy to share. Lovely staff.

Food: Hashbrowns were soggy, fruit was at least fresh. Bacon was crispy. Back Bacon had almost no flvour. We ate a few bites and left. Quality was ok. Again didn't eat much, we decided to get breakfast somewhere else. Sausage links were tough to chew, almost as if they were not 100% cooked. Service: Well im not sure who works there and who doesnt and no standards for a resemblance of a uniform attire. My wife made a comment about a hair in her food. This was bound to happen with the lax dress code. No one was wearing any hair nets or put their hair up. I watched a kid ask their parent what one employees shirt said. It was talking about slaughtering. Atmosphere: Looks like 20 people got together with design ideas and said let's do them all. It looks like a Mexican Cantina mixed with what looks to be art sales. Im not sure. The environment reminded me of the run down dive restaurants. Not a atmosphere that I would take anyone to. The place smelt like a church basement is more accurate i guess. In the end we left with almost all our food on the table. We told the waitress and she said oh well, no apology, we wont be having our company breakfast here. In an age where customer satisfaction and service are so important, they let my group down.

Park
Haywire Bay Regional Park & Campground is a popular destination in Powell River, British Columbia. The area offers a variety of activities and sightseeing opportunities, including the Mowat Bay to Haywire Bay hike, which leads to a beautiful sandy beach. The campground provides spacious and private campsites, making it ideal for families with young children. Visitors can enjoy the nearby Powell Lake and take advantage of amenities such as coin-operated showers.
Really nice campground, as usual with the Provincial Campgrounds. It's very clean, tidy and well kept, the sites are generous and well treed and private. There is a shower which is nice (takes 2 loonies), and it's also clean and spacious. The check in/registration process was very easy and it was possible to pay by card, always a bonus. Fire wood is available from the host. The location is spectacular, only 20 mins from town (Powell River) along really well graded and smooth FSRs, the beach and lake are gorgeous. Also the famous Sunshine Coast Trail passes really close by so you can easily hop on it here for an epic hike or a leisurely strole up to Haywire Bluffs. All in all I'd happily give this campground a 10/10. Do visit!

I was there for end of season 2024. It’s beautiful with lots of wildlife and great hiking! I’ll be back!

Great campground for families. Playground is in the middle, with the campsites looping around outside of it. Get there early if you want a lakeside spot.
Brittany S — Google review
Our favourite camp site that we visited on our sunshine coast trip. Showers were $1/3 minutes, firewood was the best deal we’ve seen in BC ($6 for a wagon full), and most campsites had amazing views of the lake. Only downside we had was a group of aggressive campers which should have been kicked out after the third noise complaint at 1am.
Jamie R — Google review
A 5 stars campground. We love the size; you have privacy for sure. It is a first-come, first-serve, which is good. The washroom is okay; you just need to find a clean one. Interestingly, there is a shower coin, so you need to pay 1 dollar for 3 minutes warm shower. It is located on the playground—a perfect campground for the family with young kids and a lovely beach. The only thing is the gravel road, but yeah it's fine. Overall, great experience!

This is a great place for family's to get away to nature and have a relaxing experience. There is all kinds of activity's available including swimming ,fishing ,boating ,water skiing, hiking ,canoeing and biking and also other lakes to explore near by ! The rules state that dogs must be on leash ,but there where alot off leash. As long as they are well behaved and get along with other dogs it doesn't seem to be an issue ,we only let ours off by the lake for a swim and in the hiking trails to avoid any potential problems😎🐺🐕🚐🎶

Valentine Mountain Park offers a scenic and enjoyable hike suitable for all ages. However, it is important to closely supervise children due to the lack of safety rails at the summit, except for the steep stone stairs. At the top, visitors are rewarded with breathtaking vistas of Powell River, the Ocean, mountains, and even the Paper Mill. This picturesque destination is highly recommended for hiking enthusiasts who appreciate stunning views. It is crucial that everyone takes responsibility by properly disposing of their garbage after visiting this park.
The best hiking spot in Powell river. Just a short walk uphill and some steep stairs up and you will be rewarded with the best view.

Pleasant , easy and relaxing walk up 20 minutes from where park. Less than 10 minute drive from center of town and great if like a nice view
David T — Google review
Loved this hike! Quick and easy walk to the nice view point of ocean and industrial area! You just need to climb up the rock stairs at the end! (Counted a little less than 100 stairs) After the initial view point, if you want to see the cranberry lake, keep going up to the right. The view is a bit obstructed tho. (See the pic) Good family/dog walking hike and plenty of parking spots at the trail head.

Nice short trail with some elevation; close to Powell River.
Jun L — Google review
It was a beautiful hike up the mountain. Easy enough for kids but please keep a very close eye on them as there are no safety rails at the top, only on the steep stone stairs. Once at the top you can overlook Powell River and get a clear view of the Ocean and mountains and the Paper Mill. I recommend this to anyone who loves hiking and can appreciate a beautiful view. Please pick up your garbage though.

Beautiful, simple access to mountain climb, surrounded by forest, with perfect view overtop the paper mill, preceeding the ocean; vancouver island in the background. Lovely
WorldPeace2016 — Google review
A good hike, lots of verticality without taking too much time out of your schedule unless you are constantly pausing to catch your breath as I was. Take your time on the stone stairs up to the top, the rise and run of them are all over the place. Very satisfying to get to the top, nonetheless.
Eric G — Google review
Google maps took me to the wrong place. Look for cranberry street and crown avenue. At the end of the road, you can park and then begin your climb up the mountain. It’s a nice quick hike with the Dog and not many people. Beautiful view from the top.

Historic Townsite, old town of Powell River is most amazing example of small Canadian community making an effort to preserve our history. It's not only a building or two, but rather once a village and now a neighborhood that started as the core of Powell River over 100 years ago. It's amphitheatric landscape allows us amazing views of Georgia Straight dressed with neighbouring islands almost anywhere in Townsite and Powell River for that matter. Once called the Pearl of the Sunshine Coast, one can not but wonder surrounded by the history of the district and mesmerized by the views how it all started. It's never the less a proud moment for an adopted child of the community to that stand tall and recognize how Powell RIver had evolved and was able to preserve its heritage.

Bed & breakfast
Edie Rae's Cafe is a charming and historic B&B located in the Powell River historic district on the sunshine coast in BC, Canada. Housed in a restored 1939 former courthouse, this upmarket inn offers quaint rooms and suites with free WiFi. The hotel boasts an intimate atmosphere with great architecture and historic decor, providing modern comforts such as rain shower heads, comfortable mattresses, luxurious sheets and pillows, small fridges, ensuites, and air conditioning.
We have stayed at the Inn on three occasions and would definitely go back if/when we visit Powell River again. The rooms are what you would expect from a renovated building. Quaint, but with some size or layout issues. The uniqueness of the building more than makes up for these minor issues. It is so wonderfully decorated with period pieces and unique items. It’s fun to just look around. The free breakfast in the Edie Rae’s cafe has plenty of great options and good food. Most of all, the service is fantastic. We had a very minor issue with a jar of their wonderful blackberry jam and they were willing to go above and beyond to rectify it. We highly recommend this Inn for your stay in Powell River.

Who doesn't love a historical building? The hallway decor provides a tactile snapshot of bygone times and people in addition to the charms of the building itself - a converted courthouse. And lest I forget about the charm the staff provides with their warmth and flexibility. I loved the beds and the 'rainfall' shower and free breakfast in the bright, beautiful Edie Rae's Cafe is the perfect start to any day!

We booked this hotel through Expedia but unfortunately, due to an issue with Expedia, we arrived to find that we had no reservation and the hotel was full. Apparently, this has been happening with Expedia bookings recently so I wouldn't book through them until it's fixed!! Book directly with the hotel instead. However, Kelly, who was working the front desk of the hotel, was amazing!! He was very apologetic, even though it was not the hotel's fault, and he helped us find new accommodation near by. He even covered breakfast at the hotel for us the next day - which was delicious!! If I came back to Powell River, I would definitely stay at this hotel since their service was top notch and it looked very cute from what we go to see of it. Great breakfast too. Thanks Kelly!!!

A very interesting, unique, charming, whimsy and history-filled hotel! The owners, who have worked diligently to restore and maintain this historic property, were so gracious and accommodating. The hotel is filled with nostalgia and whim! Stayed in Suite #1 - which was two spacious rooms with a king-size bed and a queen size bed and a modern washroom. The hotel, grounds and room were very clean, the beds were super comfortable and the sheets were soft Egyptian cotton. Coffee and supplies were complimentary in the room. Met interesting return customers to the hotel and can see why they are repeat customers. Make sure to stop by when in the area and check out the hotel and their amazing restaurant called Edie Rae Cafe! Their coffee and breakfast menu is outstanding and can compare to Any high-end restaurant! 5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Royal Zayka is a popular Indian restaurant in Powell River that comes highly recommended by locals and visitors alike. The restaurant offers efficient takeout service, with the tandoori mixed grill being a standout dish for its tender, juicy, and flavorful meat. The butter chicken sauce is noted for its sweetness but is still enjoyed by many. The staff provides excellent service even during busy times, ensuring a pleasant dining experience for all guests.
Great lunch special. I had the chicken tikka wrap with fries and a dipping sauce. Generous portions and very tasty. Just enough spice to bring out the flavors. The smells coming out of the kitchen were intoxicating. I will be back soon to start working my way through the menu. Nice interior ans service too. Highly recommended!

This restaurant came highly recommended from multiple locals. We were pleasantly surprised at the wonderful authentic flavors. We ordered vegetarian lunch special, and a meat lunch special. One less star because Butter chicken was a bit too sweet for our liking but rice were perfectly cooked, light & fluffy. Will be back next visit to try more dishes.

Kelly from The Old Courthouse Inn suggested this place. He said I wouldn't regret it and he was right! Fast, efficient service for takeout and my tandoori mixed grill was super delicious! All the meat was incredibly tender, juicy and very flavorful. Yes, the butter chicken sauce that comes with it is quite sweet (as other reviewers have said) but it's still tasty, and if that's how the locals like it then I'm good with that! Would definitely eat here again.

Top notch, from our first step in the door. Our server was lovely, and even came over to make sure we saw the rainbow over the lake. The food was very good. Beautiful view of Powell Lake with a great patio. The Pacific Seafood Linguini (top) was well enjoyed by my husband. I had the Blackened Cajun Linguini (bottom) and it was delicious, very saucy and very creamy. The portions were big too! Service was very slow to get started at the onset. We were sat without menus and then it took at least 15 minutes before they were brought and a drink order was taken. However, was overall friendly once things got going, and the food came within a normal timeframe after ordering.

Only issue was lack of staff. Only one server on, on a Friday and there were 2 large groups. Was fairly busy, but the server did pretty well on her own. Food was tasty.

I came here with a group of 5, the server was very attentive where drinks were replenished often and she kept checking in. However this place is VERY SLOW. It took over 30 minutes for our food to arrive. I did check in with the server and she said it’s almost up, however I did request her let her manager know that it is taking quite a while (not the servers fault). At this point I was expecting the manager to check in but she never did. Food was good and had good portions, however eggs were over cooked and they were replaced right away. Prices are a bit high for what it is. Good food but it’s way too slow, so won’t be back.
